okay here are my thoughts on finishing veilguard while i try to decide if i’m going to start my new rook or just immediately restart with magpie

i didn’t actually think i would be right about varric having been dead the whole time man. i wasn’t at all mentally ready to be right about that one. i Did cry. i love u varric. i also rly assumed davrin was going to die killing the archdemon?? so i guess if u choose harding there she beefs it instead??? horrible. and ASSAN JUMPING IN AFTER HIM…… OUGH.

the choice to send neve to disable the ward really sealed the deal on magpie’s run being Neve’s Horrible No Good Very Bad Day (But She Gets Laid). extremely funny. idk if it’ll stay her canon because i’m unclear on if neve like… got un-tainted at the end or if her taint didn’t load for me bc that happened once before when they were climbing up lol. i don’t need another romance where they’re just Waiting For The Calling so if she’s still blighted after. well. i will simply retcon this. LOL

overall the veilguard i played was a Fine Game. the gameplay was fun (tho being stuck on storyteller to avoid my save load error and magpie turning into a default model sucked balls) and the story was like. fine? it was a pretty solid game but maybe not a great Dragon Age Game. the veilguard in my mind where i’m fixing the weird retcons and giving my rook more of a real personality is fucking awesome tho.

more or less wiping out southern thedas with a double blight was…. a choice. flattening the whole elf struggle into a couple of throwaway lines and sidelining the dalish was also like. a choice. and retconning the crows into Purely found family instead of found family (that is still toxic) was just kind of a boring decision. let my de riva and lucanis bond over thinking child abuse is normal bioware! so many times bioware was faced with a choice between making something a little morally grey and making it boring and every time they chose boring! so many things also could have been improved by taking your previous choices into account but those choices were just Ignored and so often there wasn’t the level of emotional payoff i Wanted. like yeah i cried when varric died but i would have lost my mind if he even Mentioned hawke?? isabela being in game but not being able to mention it if she was romanced has single-handedly convinced me my isabelamancer’s world state will simply never make the jump to veilguard bc if my inq who knew siobhan hawke is going to exist in the world but isabela will never mention her wife i think i would die.

lucanis’s romance is……. bad. sorry. it’s bad. it has like no content until the very end and very few of the flirt options even really sound like Flirting. you lock in the romance by thanking him for making you dessert? no kiss! nothing! thankfully magpie is also canonically romancing neve so i get to experience that one next. yay :)

also as a nonbinary faggot. if a video game in a fantasy setting ever says the word Non-Binary to me again it will be too soon.

also. minor problem. but not a word out of the inquisitor’s mouth was in the ballpark of something quinn would say. them not letting us at least choose a General personality for the inq was BAD

I’ve been thinking a lot about Fenris lately. I’ve done almost a complete 180 with how I feel abt him, bc I finally played through his romance. and I think he exists solely for the purpose of being the love interest.

here’s what I mean

if we accept the premise that everything in the game is the story Varric is telling, and not what objectively happened, everything is there for a purpose, because he doesn’t want to give away anything that isn’t specifically relevant to the narrative he’s trying to craft (the DLC operates on this conceit too, bc when you start them up, the intro cutscenes for both Legacy and Mark of the Assassin is Cassandra demanding to hear the story, and Varric saying he didn’t bring it up bc it didn’t seem important)

if we accept that everything is there for a purpose, all the companions are in the story for a reason. Hawke clearly has other friends and associates; we don’t get folks like Athenril or Meeran as playable companions, despite the fact that Hawke can work with them in similar capacities (just in the off-years)

Varric (obviously), Anders, and Isabela are plot-relevant. Aveline and Sebastian (and potentially Bethany/Carver) are important political allies, bc it's a way to keep in mind the influence that Hawke has built. Merrill….. (i might write another post about Merrill tbh, bc her character is fascinating but) in short, she ties in to the whole theme of the debate abt blood magic

Fenris though?? he's 1) an escaped slave 2) from Tevinter, none of which is topically relevant. it doesn't tie into anything else.

he’s not essential. he and Isabela are the only companions you can potentially pass over in the base game, and he’s the only one you won’t miss if he's not there (it's pretty smooth if you don’t recruit Isabela, but the cutscene at the end of act 2 is. Aveline literally arguing with a blank wall lol) so what other reason would Varric have to bring him up?

it's also interesting that he's the only companion whose character development is directly tied to his romance. Fenris and Isabela are both characters who are searching for a purpose, and while I have A Lot of Issues with the way Isabela's romance is written lmao, ultimately her decision to come back and stay with Hawke or not depends on their platonic connection to her (friendship/rivalry status) rather than romantic ties.

Fenris, on the other hand, seems to just kind of... settle for whatever happens to him if he's not romanced. he gets closure on his past but still doesn't have any prospects, he just kind of gives off the vibes of like. he'll tag along with Hawke bc he doesn't have anything better to do anymoreand it's not a very satisfying conclusion for his character arc bc throughout the game he struggles with two main questions: what happened to him, and what does he do now.

but if you romance him, suddenly he does have hope for the future. he still doesn't have any idea of what the future holds, but being with Hawke gives him a sense of purpose and, more importantly, optimism that is completely missing otherwise. he starts to pursue his own happiness and the things he wants (besides just revenge on Danarius) which....... doesn't happen if you don't romance him

You are an absolute simp for your boyfriend, Camilo Madrigal, its not Encanto's big news anymore. Its like a habit of you to look out for him, after what happened before in their family.

You watched how he tried to save Mirabel when Casita falls apart, and it scared you so much of the thought of losing him. When everything went back to normal and you two started dating, you swear to protect him at all times. And he does that same to you too.

Camilo is a flirt but would always get flustered when you always do the first move at him. Even though it would always be him to do the flirting first, you sometimes would randomly flirt with him out of nowhere that he couldn't expect it.

You are currently in town helping other people out with their chores. This is one of your daily routines when you aren't around with Camilo.

"Aye, Y/N I really owe you a lot. Thank you for helping, if it wasn't for you I'll be stuck in here all day" Pablo said as he wiped his sweat away from all those carrying.

"De nada, Señor. I am glad to help you always" You said smiling at him.

"Each color of lilacs has its own different meaning but purple lilacs are the best for you two. Giving a lilac means that you are trying to remind the person you are giving to is your first love. Which is a perfect example for you both as you are each other's first love"

"And will be each other's last love too" You said which made her smiled at what you've commented. You looked at the two lilacs that is on your hand and can't help but to adore its symbolism and you can't wait to give the other one to Camilo.

After that you decided to find Camilo and luckily you saw him coming towards you. As you waved back enthusiastically as he chuckled and opened his arms for you to hug him. Which you did.

You ran up to him, securing the lilacs on your hands as you engulfed him into a hug wrapping your arms on his neck as his hands was on your waist. The people in town could just looked at you two fondly with the interaction they've seen.

"Missed me that much, amor?" He said as you chuckled at him.

"Well, how many times did Dolores told you about me talking our relationship to others?"

"A lot of times and yes we're gonna be each other's last love too" He said leaning into you as you can't help but giggle at his remarks.

"Well that answers your question" You said giving him a kiss that he always love about you.

"Lets make Lilac our couple flower" You said being giggly about it.

"Couple flower, huh? And why is that so, amor" He said getting the other lilac and kissed it as he shoved it gently to your face for that 'indirect kiss'

People could just looked at you two admiring you both. As you continue to gently slap his chest as he walks towards Casita.

After much of scolding him and shouts, you just let it happen as you felt comfortable anyways. You two both shared laughter as he continued walking, while you constantly gave him butterfly kisses out of nowhere along the way. Which made him flustered at the sudden contact but still held you enough.

Today is a busy day for both of you and Camilo, you two had a lot of chores to do and on top of that later this evening you are going to join the Madrigals for dinner, because of Mariano's proposal to Dolores.

And you know how that made Camilo happy and nervous for today, although you two are busy you try so hard to calm him down when there's a chance you two would see a glimpse of each other.

You are helping out one of the villagers, when you saw Camilo going towards your way. But he seems so tired that he couldn't even notice you.

"Amor, chin up and smile okay?" You said as he got closer. He was first shocked by your presence but suddenly hugged you which made you chuckle.

"I look like a mess, babysitting kids are so hard"

"Hey, you look great! Trust me you look handsome as ever" You said cupping his cheeks as you saw an obvious blush on his face.

He smiled at your action, still in a dazed waving goodbye. But as he turned around he tripped into one of the boxes. You are about to walk closer but he suddenly stood up, trying to to laugh at how cute he had been.

"I am fine! Im fine! Yeah, totally. Okay bye" He said embarassed and walked away fast to go and babysit other kids.

You walked closer to him and gave him a kiss on the cheeks. He was shocked at first, but let out a smile as he saw you.

"Amor, I am so glad you're here" He said soflty careful not to wake the baby up. Which you cooed at the sight.

"I am actually going to the Casita right now"

"Wait, aren't you staying here with me?" He said getting pouty and all.

"I would love to, Milo but I need to help your Tía and Mirabel with the foods. Do you still have chores?"

"Yeah, but only a few left"

"That's great. C'mon cheer up, don't make everyone see like you are tired, Amor. Smile for me?" You said teasing him and he suddenly chuckled at what you are doing and smiled sweetly.

"There it is, your smile is literally one of my favorite things to see about you" You said giving him another kiss before waving him a goodbye as he was still in a dazed mumbling words but you still heard it.

"Damn it, Camilo. You're losing your cool" He said which made you chuckled at that and continued walking.

"He is one of the greatest things that I have, Tía. I am luckier to have him" You said which you earned a nudge from Mirabel.

"Ahuh, talk about being inlove" She teased which you just playfully stick out your tongue at her. Julieta could just sigh happily at the both of you.

You are currently washing your hands from all the cooking and preparation when you felt hands on your waist, earning a kiss from your shoulders.

"So how did the chores go?" You said as you leaned into his touch and held his hand from your waist.

"Well, tiring but since mi amor suggested I shouldn't feel tired. I feel great now that I got to have time for you" You turned to look at him and noticed his smug look.

"Aye, Y/N taking the blame for Camilo. Yep, they are whipped" Mirabel said which made Dolores agreed.

Camilo was hiding at a house, as you tried talking to the villager who seemed to be annoyed. He listened as you tried to calm down the person.

"Por favor Señor, calm down. Just tell me what happened and we will settle this okay?"

"Tell you what happened? You literally know what happened Y/N" He said trying to calm down.

As you heard that you can't help but to mentally facepalmed yourself as you know that Camilo did something again. While he was shapeshifting into your appearance.

"You see this? My clothes are wet because you poured some damn water on me. I'm supposed to meet someone" He said trying to dry his clothes. You feel bad for him as you tried to help him out.

"I am so sorry Señor, I didn't think of my actions before doing it. I promise not to do it again" You said smiling awkwardly as he sighed at you.

"Okay fine because you have done a lot of good things to me. Because if that was Camilo, I swear that boy—" He said which made you gently pushed him to where his house at.

"Ah Sí! Right, all is forgiven. Its fine it wasn't him and you better go change clothes. Okay bye. Gracias Señor" You said before running away and going to where Camilo is at.

As you saw him you narrowed your eyes at him while putting your hands on your waist. He chuckled nervously at the sight of you.

"Well, okay sorry I shapeshifted into you. I was bored and I felt the need to prank him, and I can't anymore do that showing up as myself so that's when I—"

"You know here's an idea"

"Stop doing pranks, Camilo" You said glaring at him and just groaned at you.

"But amor—Hey, wait" You immediately grabbed his wrist dragging him as you walked to the Casita.

You stopped at your tracks causing Camilo to bumped into you. You turned to look where the gossip is at, and you noticed two girls that you just noticed seeing in this town.

Camilo heard about it, but incase of feeling doubted and insecure he felt nervous as he saw how you turned to look at the girls.

"Amor, Please let's go. Hey I am ready to be scolded by you once we get to Casita. Come on" He said trying to convince you to shrugged it off but you calmly went towards the girls as he tried to dragged you back but failed.

"Hi, do I know you two?" You said smiling sarcastically, as Camilo keeps on dragging your wrist.

"Probably not" The other girl said rolling her eyes.

"Exactly, you two are not well known. But Camilo is. And yes, he might be playing pranks on people but he also makes them happy"

"Uhh amor por favor, vamos" Camilo whispered as you gently shut him up. "One minute you were annoyed by me but now you're defending me" he whispered to himself.

"Pfft, I bet you're just dating him because he is a Madrigal" Camilo looked at you as you looked at the girls with a 'you-did-not-just-say-that' face.

"Okay, listen up. I am dating Camilo because I love him and you wouldn't understand that because you have no love for yourself. I mean look at you, talking bad to someone when literally all he did was help people in town every single day and then one wrong move. All bad things are on him, really? How annoying is the mindset of yours could be. Camilo is the best person that I have in the world, and too bad you can't have him. So next time, if you wanna target someone make sure that it's not my boyfriend because I'll make sure you won't ever see the daylight again." You said smiling sarcastically, dragging Camilo out of the scene.

The girls could just look at you in terror, by how intimidating you were. And Camilo could just swore he is feeling mixed feelings right now. He felt nervous because he still has a mistake for you, scared because of what you've said to the girls, overwhelmed because of how protective you are and the way you defended him makes him want to just kiss you all day long.

Before you two could set foot to the Casita, you stopped at your tracks and looked down. Camilo noticed the sudden change of mood from you as he cupped your cheeks and make you look up at him.

"Hey what's wrong?"

"Sorry, I probably went mean from those two but I was just annoyed. They shouldn't talk to you or to anyone like that, I just —" He suddenly kissed your lips and placed his forehead in yours.

"Mi vida, you were just defending me okay? I appreciate that. I love you" He said which made you smiled at him.

"And I love you too Camilo Madrigal"

"So are we now good? You've forgiven me with what I've done?" He said changing the topic as you scoffed playfully at him, walking inside the Casita.

"Hey, is that a yes or no??" He said catching up to you.

"Guess it, Camilo" You said suddenly giving him a butterfly kiss.

"I'll take that as a yes, so we're good" He said as you both went inside his room as he gently tackled you in his bed, cuddling with him.

The blatant Anders rivalry when it comes to any of Hawke’s romances.

I will mainly be talking about a Hawke who romanced Fenris, because that is literally the only guy I ever romance. Therefore, I have witnessed the behaviour Ander exhibits from a Fenhawke point of view, I do not mean to ‘demean’ Isabela or Merill but I probably won’t mention them a lot. Other factors are that I am female, therefore I utilise Marian Hawke and I am a mage who is ‘friends’ with everyone. No rivalmance or rivalry with any of the characters. Just putting that out there because I don’t want someone popping into the comments saying ‘BUT THIS HAPPENS WHEN-” Yeah, I know. I have played the game THOROUGHLY and I have watched many videos depicting the choices I did not make.

Anyway, THE BLATANT RIVALRY WITH ANDERS IF YOU DO NOT ROMANCE HIM. It is...amazing. I am not hating on Anders, I absolutely adore Anders. And...I have always believed that he has feelings for your Hawke, especially if you flirt with him. 

The thing with Dragon Age is that it does a good job of not making you feelbad if you flirt with multiple characters nor does it mean that you are locked into a romance upon flirting once with a person. It also does not make you feel bad if you kinda romance a companion but change your mind, you can break it off with a companion and that’s it. The Companion will act like nothing ever happened, as though you have and always were just friends.

Dragon Age 2...does something a bit different. Anders is someone who brings up the romance, and has very clear emotions towards them.

Your companions in all of the games obviously comment on whoever you romanced, but Dragon Age 2 makes A MUCH bigger deal about it than any of the other games. Particularly, with Anders. I truly think that regardless of your choices, Anders has feelings for Hawke. 

My points are:

I am of course, going to bring up the fact that Anders is one of three characters that comment on your romance. Varric, Isabela and Anders comment on who you romance, The thing is Isabela jokes about it, Varric jokes while showing some real concern (You know Varric will make anyone who hurts Hawke fucking hurt 10x more) but Anders gets...a bit bitchy lmao. As you do his companion mission when looking for the ingriedients to ‘seperate him from Justice’ Anders will stop and ask “Are you sure?” about whoever you are romancing. But not in the manner that Varric innocently inquired, Anders inquires like Hawke is dating a 90 year old. “Are you sure?” like hes asking Hawke “Have you lost your mind?!” He purposely stops the crew from going any further just to bring this topic up whereas Varric and Isabela were just chilling at the Hanged Man waiting for you to come to them. 

Then, he goes on to insult whoever you are romancing; even when they are right there. Anders truly has no shame, and often whatever he brings up about the other companion it’s him being hypocritical. Especially with Merill. For Fenris he says, “Surely you want someone more open minded?” And my first thought upon hearing this was ‘are you alluding to yourself?’ because that’s...kind of what his tone implies, he is suggesting they deserve someone better and since he’s the only one who has a problem with whoever Hawke romances it’s safe to assume he is referring to himself. (That’s quite bold of you Anders)

Another thing, after a Bitter Pill and sleeping with Fenris you can actually still flirt with the other companions, and you can engage in Ander’s kiss scene. It’s.... good. I think it adds a lot more conflict to the companion dynamic, especially between Fenris, Hawke and Anders. 

 Anders will go the Amell Estate at night. Here he brings up your romance again (It can either be Isabela or Fenris I’m not sure about Merill) and again, he insults them. Now, he calls Fenris a ‘dog’ and my Hawke always gets defensive and asks that he leaves, saying they cannot do this. Anders will appear hurt (I can’t blame him) and visibly angry. It’s...interesting that Bioware lets you get so far with Anders. You can have that hot make out session (Even tho the noises make me cringe) and be on the verge with sleeping with him. You even get the chance to reject Anders twice before you can initiate the sex scene, once straight off the bat and the next one after he makes his comment on whoever you previously slept with. To which the option goes “I still love him/her” it’s just interesting that Anders gets that treatment, Idk if the other companins get the same treatment, it’s more like you friendzone the other characters rather than directly say ‘I am in love with another’. while the prompt button says ‘I am still in love with her/him” Hawke doesn’t actually say that, they say “Don’t call him that! I’m sorry Anders, we can’t do this!” but...the prompt button is conveying the fact that you can choose to have your Hawke realise their mistake.

“I can’t imagine what Hawke sees in you,” He says to Fenris “I always knew she had some sense,” He says relieved when he realised Fenris and Hawke are currently ‘not together’. (And the fact that Fenris very clearly is wearing Hawke’s token and their family emblem probably fuels Anders need to badger Fenris. As it’s clear Fenris still loves Hawke despite breaking it off, so it gives Anders some fuel I suppose but that’s just a headcanon)

He also acts very proud if you romanced Fenris and then did sleep with Anders. “You were a fool to leave hawke” and he’ll say something about being glad he brought Hawke to him. He just gloats about it. (can we just, relish the fact that people call this ‘Fenris and Anders fighting over Hawke’ but in reality it’s just Fenris being guilty about leaving Hawke and it’s just Anders harping on Fenris, like it’s Anders who’s doing the fighting Fenris is just kind of accepting it? It’s still such good banter, I am a slut for conflict what can I say ;) )

Other factors are kind of miniscule, little tid bits that have connotations to Anders caring about Hawke. It could be seen as just him being a great friend, because he is a good friend, but...I also can see this as Anders just doing it because not only does he care about Hawke but he cares about them so much it is leaning towards a crush. Despite moaning and complaining about the Deep Roads he will go there with Hawke, despite saying how he will NEVER go to Wardens, and despite actively hiding from them if Carver or Bethany are sick he will bring them to the wardens even tho he is being hunted. Because they are Hawke’s family. “You are the one bright light in Kirkwall,” Is also just...a very romantic thing to say and I’m pretty sure he says it regardless if you flirted with him or not.

Anyway, I don’t know if it was intentional. But all of this (to me anyway) not just alludes but confirms that Anders has feelings for Hawke regardless of your choices. I like it, it really adds something to the story in my opinion and to his character. It’s fun to imagine what kind of arguments, conflicts, jealousy and pining went on in the many years that DA2 takes places. It adds more emphasis to how heartbreaking Ander’s end in the story is, with him betraying and lying to Hawke to keep them safe, but ended up making Hawke a damn fugitive in the process. Not his goal I assume, but the reality nevertheless. He makes the woman/man he loved a fugitive, and whoever they fell in love with is also forced to go on the run with them. 

And then in Inquisition, the way Hawke talks about Anders if they did not approve of the Chantry Explosion. Romanced they will say “When someone betrays you like that, it takes a long time to get past it. I don’t know if we ever have” It’s...such good dialogue, but applying that to a Hawke who did not romance Anders...those feelings must still apply just the dfference being Hawke probabaly has no idea where he is. Maybe Hawke prefers it that way. I like to think Hawke can never forgive Anders, perhaps a bit of disdain for their old friend. But, while a part of them prefers not knowing where he is, they deep down hope that he is okay. It’s sad to think that perhaps Anders and Hawke never did reconcile, that they said little to each other before everyone went their seperate ways as the betrayal was still warm (And like Fenris would even let Anders talk to Hawke after all of that lmao)

So, my point is that I think Anders is a hopeless romantic, not-so-secretely pining for Hawke and that it is rather tragic if you don’t romance him. It’s more angsty if you don’t, and that’s why I purposely kiss Anders but call it off because I love Fenris, it adds more to your story and I love that it’s an option that can have consequences. Even tho regardless if you kissed Anders he acts really jealous, if you do kiss him his behaviour makes more sense.

ignatz!!

ignatz is a very patient, understanding person, and i think that would be really good for you!! 

he seems to quite good with handling difficult emotions (just look at his supports with marianne), and very supportive without being overwhelming 

as he’s quite introverted himself, i think he’d be pleasant for you to spend time with; he knows his boundaries and he’d understand your needs pretty well, making him very comfortable to be around

he also likes reading!! and once he was able to, i think he’d definitely invest in having a little reading room/library in your home!! also, the most likely to want a family, i think!! and he’d be a pretty good dad imo 

he’s a very gently encouraging person (marianne’s supports, again, highlight this), and he would remind you that he thinks your opinions are important and need to be said 

i just feel like he’d be good with the fact that you’re highly sensitive and prone to melancholy? he’s just a very patient, loving person, and i think he’d be a very good listener 

furthermore, he’s very patient and attentive, and would learn how to read you well. he’d want to show you the respect you deserve, and he’d really put in the work for that

i’ll be honest, this was the matchup that kept me from finishing this simply because everyone in dragon age 2 is such a damn mess aalkjslkjlj

but that being said, i think varric is the best for for you!! i think you and varric would have a nice balance; he’s very loyal and loving, yes, but he’s not a particularly soft person. i get the feeling you could soften his edges a bit. on the other hand, i think he could really help you learn how to defend yourself against the world, and how to speak your mind a bit more 

varric absolutely teases you to hell and back, though. loves to flirt with you because you’re oblivious. you guys definitely had a ton of ‘not-dates’ until varric decided that he just had to tell you how he felt bc it was getting a bit ridiculous

you want a family? well, varric’s already got five kids (yes, including hawke), so expect your hands to be full with making sure that everyone’s Doing Okay. merrill and isabela have a particular love for you; they both think you’re adorable, and isabela has taken it on herself to be part of your Protection Squad 

definitely organizes a little ‘library area’ of your room in the hanged man. it may not be the whole room of your dreams, but he knows how much you love reading, and how valuable a space like that could be to you.

loves it when you get curious and eccentric. he’s very fond of quirky characters, and he finds your curiosity endearing; it means he’s going to chat your ear off about something fascinating. he also appreciates that you’re quite open-minded, and i really can’t envision him with a partner who didn’t have that trait. 

also loves that your witty, and enjoys bantering with you. i think playfulness is something he’d value in a partner, and there’d be a lot of light-heartedness to your relationship 

you two are a very sarcastic couple tho, my goodness. sometimes you just won’t let one another live 

varric might not be the best when it comes to handling your more dour days, simply because he’s not the greatest at confronting emotions. but, he’s going to try his best

anders: i was super conflicted on this one. i nearly put him as your number one, but i just think that he can be too... volatile, if that makes sense? he’s a very passionate person in all aspects of life, but especially when it comes to his relationships. i think he’d be excellent for you when things are going well, and he would treat you with the compassion and respect you deserve. when things weren’t so good, though, i think he might be very irresponsible with your feelings? he’s just got a lot of emotion and he doesn’t tend to hold back (at least in my gameplay experience alkfdjsfdlkj). but that being said, i think you two could be a very good match (in an au universe, maybe?) 

sebastian: i’ll be quite honest and say that i don’t know sebastian very well yet (i’ve only just started to interact with him bc i just got the dlc), but i feel like if i knew him better, he might have won out here? he seems like a very kind, warm-hearted person, and he really does try to see the best in others. people are straight up mean to him, and he still responds kindly. that grounded kindness would be a very good thing for you, i think, and i think he would admire many parts of your personality. at the same time, he has the compassion to help you through your more melancholic days; he knows how hard that sort of pain can be to deal with, after all.

lukas!!

this one also gave me some difficulty, but for the opposite reason than above; all three guys were just too good, and it was near impossible to pick one alkjdfldfksj

that being said, i think lukas would be a great balance for you!! he’s a very mild-mannered, measured person, and i think that could help ground you. meanwhile, you might be able to help him explore those more passionate emotions that he seems to hold back 

he’s more of an ignatz than a varric, in the sense that i think you’d have a softer, more vulnerable relationship? he’s just more gentle, i suppose

lukas definitely strikes me as the guy who would encourage you to speak your mind; i say this thinking of how he stands up to fernand when alm first joins the deliverance. so, when he suspects you’re holding your opinions back, he’ll gently tell you to speak up 

because he’s quite measured and thoughtful, i think lukas would be very careful with each step of your relationship, which will be a good or a bad thing depending on your perspective. even though he’s courted people before, i get the feeling that he’s never really been in love, so it’s all very much a new thing for him, too. because of that, expect there to be some awkwardness as you both try to navigate these feelings together 

essentially, you’d have a very solid friends-to-lovers story; and it’d definitely be one that everyone else saw coming before you guys even suspected that was where your relationship was going
