i’ve honestly always wholeheartedly adored kirby tbh. i’ll never forget seeing scream 4 at a formative age and wanting to be just half as cool as her so bad lmaoo. i don’t know if this is really related at all but i think at least in 4, she was a little more flawed as a person than some people really pick up on. and i think those flaws genuinely make her a more interesting character. she’s a little rude, blunt, callous, whatever. doesn’t outwardly care too much about her friend getting brutally murdered right in front of her. still goes to stab-a-thon, has a good time, flirts with charlie, hosts an after party, brags about her movie knowledge. which good for her with the last one ❤️ but she does come off a little self involved. she’s also a teenager so. fair enough. but she obviously has a lot of good moments as well. she seems to care deeply for jill and shows a lot of courage, heart, and vulnerability in that final scene trying to save charlie’s life. she wasn’t perfect and that’s what makes her pretty compelling to me. i think mindy shares a lot of these qualities as well but she didn’t really get a heart and vulnerability moment like kirby did with the trying to save charlie debacle. i feel like she’ll be getting one in 6 though, not gonna lie. idk but i do love them both and i’m excited to see them again <3

and to be fair, as self-involved and blunt as she comes across, uh, even kirby's more callous lines don't compare to robbie tbh. iirc like, olivia's body is barely cold and he refers to her as "the girl who'll now never date me," or if not that exactly, something to the effect of it (now i have to re-watch scre4m yet again). like. fuck man.

also when kirby tried to save charlie (as far as she knew) and started shakily rattling off whatever remake come to mind, hayden panettiere's performance was so raw and compelling that on the first watch i didn't even realize it's supposed to be the film taking a crack at how derivative and lazy so many remakes are!! the commentary totally flew over my head bc i was so wrapped up in her urgency and desperation.

although my favorite kirby moment will always be when she yells at trevor after her interrupts her and charlie. her face is a whole mood, i swear if this movie had come out a handful of years later than it did kirby prolly would've become a reaction gif. 😂

and mindy! yes, ofc i adore mindy. and she is similarly kind of harsh. like when she refuses to go with richie to the basement and he goes alone and like, as soon as the door shuts behind him she's all, "well he's dead," and shoves her hand in a bag of chips. LMAO. to be fair tho, to be fair richie is irritating af and that prolly would've been my reaction too. anonymoose friend, i am sorry if u like richie but he just aggravates me, personally, he was getting on my nerves the whole movie.

i do feel we'll be getting more vulnerability from mindy come scream vi tho, more development for her character in general. jasmin savoy brown has the range!!! and already the super bowl ad heavily suggests her girlfriend is going to get killed.

i keep re-watching it (and all the other ads, ngl) trying to work out the mechanics of that scene.

it looks like anika is already wounded? she's covered in blood. yes, it could be someone else's blood but i'm thinking it's hers bc in the one shot it looks like mindy is helping her on the floor? it's blink-and-miss-it, but it's there, for the life of me tho, which trailer or tv spot was it in?? i don't remember, they're all blurring together. but also it seems that mindy gets on the ladder before anika does, that she's left her in the bloody bedroom (quinn's bedroom?) and that makes me wonder if the plan is for mindy to go first bc anika could potentially successfully play dead if ghostface enters the room, given that she's already injured. if that is the plan it clearly doesn't work, but. still.

anyway, yes, i love kirby and mindy and i'm very excited to see them both again and hopefully we'll get some good interactions between them too!!

So I've been watching play throughs of MWII and I recently moved onto the 2019 MW remake and the sheer amount of military recruitment ads that play during these videos is just insane. Like...I get it but it's just so gross and kinda borderline predatory.

Especially with the tales that have been breaking about military recruiters fucking geofencing schools and sending pro-military recruitment ads to students phones and other very skeevy shit.

I assure you, I am not part of your target audience, US Military. I am too old, too surly and don't take to authority figures very well. My general reaction to someone getting in my face barking at me is to tell them to fuck off. Of course, I'm also feeling that way in general with youtube at the moment and the RIDICULOUS amount of ads I'm having to suffer through. Three + preroll ads for every fucking video? Seriously? Do you think you're fucking twitch?? They might actually make me spring for youtube premium at this rate but the idea of giving google my money makes me physically sick. I don't know of an ad-blocker that works on tv's which is generally how I consume youtube content.

In other news I got so filled with rage right now trying to type this post that I decided to do the ram upgrade tonight on my laptop.

Google lied to me, this did not have a 8gb stick of ram soldered to my motherboard but 2x 4gb installed in the slots so the 8GB stick I bought makes it uneven but whatever. I ordered another 8gb and I might decide later down the line to just say fuck it and get 2 sticks of 16gb to max out the ram. I also swapped out the fan but got lazy and did not re-paste the heatsink. I might do it on Thursday when I have to reopen the chassis to reinstall the new ram then. The other fan looks to be fine it was just filthy but I already bought the replacement so I'll keep it as a backup and clean it up later. The amount of lint stuck in the heat sink was impressive. I need to buy one of those mini vacuums for electronics but have never bothered. I don't never felt like I had the need for one.

I'm praying to the gods that this will solve some of my computer issues but if it doesn't then it's definitely a fucking virus eating up my resources and that's going to require a full system reinstall which isn't the worst thing in the world, I barely have any files on this. laptop it's just a pain in the ass.

But hey, I didn 't break my laptop with my typical yolo style of computer repairs?

EDIT: Contact with Slick has been made but somehow 1am snuck the fuck up on me so I need to go to bed now. And by bed I mean I will put away my laptop, read fanfic and prolly scroll through my for you page for the next hour reblogging random shit.

Okay uh, brief thoughts regarding Sinnoh remakes I guess I'm like "yup, of course they are like this" If they were gonna announce D/P remakes this year, I knew for sure they'd be something like what we are seeing rn

I personally don't mind this artstyle, I think its charming

Anyway, I'm seeing a lotta folks raging that the D/P remakes aren't SwSh graphics but better and with every single Pokemon ever, but like If you wanted that, you know that would've taken at least 2 more years, if not more, right?

This was inevitable

I do get the desire to have a remake that is in the same vein as the remakes have been up until this point, and between this and Lets GO there is this part of me that feels a bit somber about the fact that Pokemon is just kinda getting more and more muddled and all

But that's also kinda inevitable given just how huge Pokemon is now, in all sorts of aspects

I think that there is an argument to be made that they couldve waited longer so they couldve made "ideal" remakes too, but then again, thats subjective

Pokemon definitely still has a problem with the need to put out so many games in such a short time, but that's why I'm actually glad to see that they handed off development of the remakes to another studio this time

I think they could work something out there, maybe

More than anything, I'm just curious to see how the remakes actually end up playing, wether it has an overly simplified gameplay system like LG (in my opinion), and how much its just a shot for shot remake, rather than adding new stuff like the older remakes did, etc

That being said, I remember the remakes adding extra stuff has always been kinda controversial among fans, like while some always loved redesigns and extra contents, many people also wished we could just have straight remakes with no gimmicks

So again, this is kinda subjective

I never liked the thought of making the mainline PKMN games just BoTW like some folks want, but in turn that means I'm actually very intrigued about seeing this concept explored in spin-off titles, always loved Pokemon spin-offs, it looks neat so far

A bit sad that for Branding Purposes they will prolly still call the Pokemon "Pokemon" in Pokemon Legends, like Previously you'd have stuff in the past call them different things like "magical creatures" (in a sinnoh era movie even), but of course its made all uniform here
