Yuuta: Huh, Mikejima-senpai?

Kohaku: Y’know, the half-up sorta look. It’s similar to how Madara-han wears his hair, y’know?

So I figured it maybe was a matter of respect. Doesn’t seem to be the case though, judgin’ from your reaction.

Yuuta: Ahaha… Yeah, it’s just a coincidence. I figured it’d be a little boring if I just grew it out.

It’d get in my face when I move around, so I just tied the sides of my hair up.

It’s a surprise to me that it was taken as a sign of respect for Mikejima-senpai. If I’m gonna grow my hair out, I gotta learn how to style it, huh…

Rinne: How ’bout we Crazy:B try givin’ producin’ yer hairstyle a try, Yuta? We’ll cook ya up a good meal!

Yuuta: Thank you very much~, if you’d be so kind, I’d appreciate it, then~.

Rinne: Ah, I thought ya would never agree to that in your life.

Graveyard Shift - Chapter 1

Arisu: Hear me out, Niki Arisu: What if I did something so so rational...

Season: Autumn

Characters: Arisu, Niki Shiina

< Café Cinnamon, One day left before Halloween event >

Arisu sighs and scrolls away from the week-old exchange. The seemingly random incident with the syrup bottle breaking turned out to be just the beginning. In the following days both they and Niki had to come back to smashed glasses, scattered dirt and pebbles from the planters, a ripped lampshade and, most horribly, clearly messed with ingredients, some scratched up or bitten into, some with their packagings torn. Digging for a mop in the utility closet, Arisu tries their best not to cry.

Cleaning up some aspiring vandal’s mess all alone is no fun, and usually they wouldn’t have to - Niki is nothing if not dependable, and the state of Cinnamon is a matter of chef’s pride for him. However, for the last couple of days Niki is also very busy with a Crazy:B shoot, surely he already feels guilty enough about missing out on preparations for the café event… They will just have to toughen up for one last day and make sure tomorrow goes as smoothly as possible! To arms, Arisu! It all depends on you!

Self-encouragement feels more pressuring than anything else, but it works to get them to start cleaning up nonetheless. 

< One hour later >

"What do you mean, noone? What’s the point of covering the entire lobby in cameras, if you cannot catch one potentially dangerous hooligan sneaking in every night?!"

Arisu watches from the corner of their eye as Manager-san drags a security guard around, sharply pointing at every blinking red indicator along their path. Security guard lets themself be dragged with little resistance and just as little interest in whatever Manager-san was saying.

"We checked and rechecked the footage, we deployed an extra guard at the entrance gate. Unless your culprit is an ant, nobody entered the café this night, or the last night, or the night before. We really don’t have any extra people to stand guard over your pots and pans."

Diligently creating an illussion of work by wiping down the same spot on one of the table for the last ten minutes, Arisu can't show their reaction at the dialogue they really were not supposed to be listening in, but they make a mental note to complain about the guard's dismissive tone to Niki afterwards. Those are very good pots and pans, thank you very much! Totally deserving of respect and extra people!

Manager-san feels no need to hide their feelings on the matter, so, in a powerful display of solidarity with their worker, they start ripping into the security guard. Oh, some of that is way out of Arisu's Japanese vocabulary. Would it be in poor taste to start writing stuff down?

"And you!" Manager-san turns around sharply to point at Arisu. Uh-oh, "Stop eavesdropping and get back to work, this has nothing to do with you."

Arisu would argue that *the state of the cafe* has everything to do with them, but Manager-san seems pissed off enough already, so they nod and scamper into the kitchen with a slightly guilty look.

At least now they can also message Niki!

Crazy:B Introduction - POV Niki

[CW: Bloody, creepy nursery rhymes.]

There's a rustling of papers in the bedroom.

Niki sets down the wooden spoon and sighs. "Rinne, if you're going to invade my apartment, use the door."

No response.

"Rinne-kun?"

He frowns at the pot of bolognese sauce. it's just about ready to simmer for a few hours, so he gives it a final stir, sets the lid on, and turns down the heat.

Niki turns the doorknob and...

There's no one there?

He advances on the desk, looking for clues. The papers on the desk are untouched, but there's a white powder dusting the floor. He crouches down to examine it, and--

He hears laughter.

Teru-teru bozu, teru bozu Do make tomorrow a sunny day, Like the sky in a dream one night. If it's sunny I'll give you a golden bell.

The front door unlocks. "Niki?" Rinne pokes his head into the bedroom. "Why are you on the ground?"

"Did you see anyone out there?"

"No. What's going on?"

"I heard a rustling in here, and there's ashes on the floor..."

Rinne touches the back of his hand to Niki's forehead, testing his body temperature. "Are you okay?"

Niki gives him a confused look. "What?"

"There's nothing there."

Teru-teru bozu, teru bozu Do make tomorrow a sunny day. If you make my wish come true, We'll drink lots of sweet sake.

Niki slams his head down. The first two verses of that stupid nursery rhyme have followed him all day and he's sick of it.

In a fit of anger, he sings the last verse.

"Teru-teru bozu, teru bozu, do make tomorrow a sunny day. But if it's cloudy and I find you crying, then I shall snip your head off!"

The singing finally, finally stops.

But then it starts again, clearly delighted.

Where are you from? From Higo. — Where in Higo? In Kumamoto. — Where in Kumamoto? In Senba.

He blinks. Tentatively, he sings.

"A tanuki is in the Senba mountains. A hunter shoots it with a gun. Boils it — Roasts it — Eats it. Let's hide it in the leaves."

There's another laugh, a warm caress from the floral-scented wind, and the unsettling presence disappears.

The next day, his local supermarket has a 50% off sale.

...

Their unit is called Crazy:B. Which is a bit stupid, because they're neither crazy nor bees.

Or, well, Niki isn't. He glances at the others. Rinne, with his gambling smile. HiMERU, placid and uninviting. Kohaku, with the face of an axe murderer.

He feels off-center. For so long, it's just been him and Rinne, them against the world. Having two new people is uncomfortable, as if he's accidentally overcrowded his skillet and nothing cooks right.

Well, if in doubt, food.

"Do you guys wanna come over? I can cook."

HiMERU grimaces slightly.

"I have pork, rice, aburaage, miso... how about inarizushi?"

"I don't mind Inarizushi," Kohaku pipes up.

"HiMERU agrees." His countenance had lifted slightly at the mention of aburaage. Niki suspects a preferred food.

A gleeful smile spreads on Rinne's face, and Niki hurries to cut him off. "Let's head to the subway."

...

There is something familiar about Oukawa Kohaku, Niki thinks, as he mixes rice vinegar, salt, and sugar in rice. As soon as Oukawa had passed the threshold of Niki's apartment, that unsettling presence had returned, and he wonders if it's related.

He carries the plates of inarizushi out to the living room, HiMERU and Kohaku conversing on the couch while Rinne flits about like a hummingbird testing nectar from three different flowers.

Kohaku hums as he bites into one of the inarizushi. The song is familiar, and Niki realizes... it's Teru Teru Bozu.

"You..."

Kohaku looks up.

"You were in my house?"

Kohaku smiles, and sings a new nursery rhyme, the voice familiar after the past few days.

"Kagome, kagome The bird in the basket When, oh when will it come out In the night of dawn The crane and turtle slipped Who is behind you now?"

Niki doesn't know what the song means, but he's heard other people speculate on it too, so he knows he's not the only one.

"Why?"

Kohaku waves a hand. "I was curious."

Ensemble Stars!! MV Tournament!!

I've had this idea a while back. I've seen this sort of tournament for Enstars songs - but what about the Enstars MVs?

Having an idea is one thing - actually making it happen sounded like an organisational nightmare… yet here we are!

General info

I decided to skip the New Year countdowns, as they are basically just medleys of other songs. For the purposes of this tournament, I have also decided to exclude the MVs marked as 'movies' in the game - that means, among other things, no Walk With Your Smile -Acoustic version- or BUKUBU NEW STARS!! (I'm really sorry). Thus, at the time of writing, I have counted 180 MVs.

There will still be in-game releases as the polls go up. As such, I have decided that while the round 1 polls are releasing, any new MVs will still be eligible for the tournament. If it comes out after, however, I'll skip it.

Some of the matchups were randomised. Others were picked out based on a theme. I won't say which are which (though most of them are pretty obvious!). With this many MVs, it was a bit too hard to find appropriate matchups for everything, and randomising everything felt way too unbalanced and plain off so I've found this method to be the most reasonable.

After the first round, there will be about 90 songs that pass to the next round. Seeing as that number is not ideal and will cause problems further down the line, there will be a second chance round. We'll proceed to round 2 with 128 songs, which is a far more optimal number.

I'll try to publish 5 polls per day.

I'm going to take a guess that in these pictures..It's Kohaku speaking because of the words "Gamble" and "ya" (since Kohaku has like an accent and the only other person who kinda speaks like him is Mika who almost never appears in all the different au's except for a short bit in MDD)

I'm not sure what to make of this one since it seems pretty straightforward with what it means

When he went to search for honey to be able to use another ability of alternative doll self, which made him able to turn honey into any form of weapon he want.  This ability is referring to the Kohaku (Probably) in MDD. If my memory is correct he asked MDD MC if MC wanted to see his abilities the Crazy:B or Double Face abilty in one of the chapters

In this part/chapter of Distorted Party the CH prequel Chapter 14 is connected said by the author

The best example I could find in Distorted Party being connected to CH prequel ch 14 is this line -> "I have seen you in my dream a couple of nights ago. You with ai. It was odd. So I have to look around, I don't know what part of the timeline you are in currently. Since I cannot read your fate..."

Kohaku: Yeah, we’ll be home soon too, so don’t worry. Anzu-han, be careful on your way home too.

Rinne & Kohaku: ……

Kohaku: —Rinne-han. You were awake when we entered the dressing room earlier, weren’t you?

Rinne: Hm~? What’re you on about?

Kohaku: You suddenly started snorin’ so. You’re a bad person if you were feignin’ sleep.

Rinne: Which one of us is the bad guy here? ‘Cause Kohaku-chan, you snagged something off of me, right?

the way enstars handles event boost cards is so baffling to me. like I guess it makes sense if I try to think about it from the perspective of a gacha game company that wants to scam you out of your money but from like a story cohesion standpoint it makes no sense. the event starting tomorrow will be about crazy:b and 2wink and maybe some other guys idk. logically the cards that should boost your score in the event should be of the guys in crazy:b and 2wink. but no they're running a separate gacha that's completely unrelated in every way except that the cards from it will make you do better in the event. why. why is natsume in a somewhat fetishistic "middle eastern" costume going to help yuta rescue his brother from rinne

im just saying it was so much more straightforward in bandori. bandori would be like "this is a pasupare event and pure cards get a boost" and you would use all your pure pasupare cards. easy

the fact that their choice to stay comes as a shock is nothing short of heartbreaking. has there been no one else to do this for him? no one to drop everything, to leave even in the middle of a production just to run to his side to help when he needed it? surely that can’t be. surely there have been others. surely there are still others. 

never mind that right now, though. kaname can deal with that later. for now, all that matters is micchy and making sure that he’s okay. which is admittedly hard, considering that they don’t know where to start― they don’t even know what exactly is wrong. all they know is that when they got a text from mitsuzane simply asking if they were busy, something felt terribly off. or rather, the inexplicable sense of foreboding that had been lingering over them all day suddenly became much more potent, and they could simply feel that something was wrong. so, with a sense of urgency, kaname excused themself for the day, leaving crazy:b’s on-set rehearsal for tomorrow’s live in anzu’s capable hands (things are better off in her far more capable hands anyhow, as far as they’re concerned, and they’ll suffer the consequences tomorrow anyway) and raced to mitsuzane. which was admittedly rather difficult, wheelchair bound as they are, but they didn’t want to waste time waiting for kasumi, nor would they trouble anyone back at the rehearsal to take the time out of their valuable practice just to take kaname to their boyfriend. they want to get there as fast as possible, but not cause problems for anyone else, after all. 

they do make it in record time, though, thanking every star in the heavens that micchy at least wasn’t too far away. and once they reach him, their heart only breaks further at his current state and those whispered words of simultaneous disbelief and relief, and almost immediately (but gently) do their arms wrap around his form.

❝of course i did,❞ kaname whispers softly as they stroke his hair. by now, they’ve already slipped from their wheelchair to instead sit beside him more comfortably. ❝nothing could pry me from you. no matter what happens, i’m always going to stay with you. for you. i promise you that, okay? swear on my life.❞ a pause, and then kaname pulls back from their embrace just a tad― just enough to meet his eyes as they cup a hand over his cheek, offering a gentle, warm smile.

❝besides, there’s nowhere else i’d rather be than right here with you. i love you, after all― and that means sticking together through it all. so, if you feel like you can... do you want to talk about what’s wrong? or would you rather just lie back for a while? i can make us some tea or something, if you’d like. maybe watch a movie to get your mind off of things? what would you like, micchy?❞
