james potter x fem!reader

your head feels like it's full of cotton when you first open your eyes.

you don't like waking up feeling useless, like every bone of your body is ready to give up the second you leave your bed. funny thing with bad mornings is that you never know when you'll have them. they just come and ruin your day until it's at least the afternoon.

sitting on bed, you reach for your phone to get it from your nightstand. there's a piece of paper under the phone. you open it.

leaving for the training, angel, i'll be home before noon ♡

james likes drawing hearts around his name when he leaves a note for you. you smile a little no matter how terrible your head feels. it's almost half past 11. you force yourself to leave the bed.

the shower may help. you try so hard to shake off the anger you feel. summer mornings are not so easy to get through without a cold shower, you also like washing your hair and leaving it wet on your bare shoulders. you don't take long, after 10 minutes you go back to your room to get dressed in plain shorts and a small tank top.

you don't feel like eating or drinking a huge iced coffee which is basically your favorite every morning. waiting for james is better, you sit on the couch, watch water drops fall on your skin from your hair.

james opens the door silently, thinking you must be sleeping. you like calling him when you wake up when he's not home, it has become an easy habit. instead he sees you spread your legs on couch, you look exhausted, he doesn't know why. you look at him with widened eyes, no energy, no spark.

he takes off his shoes, leaves the grocery bags on the kitchen counter. he comes to your side, sitting on couch with a hand on your leg. "morning, angel." he says, kissing the side of your head. "slept well?"

you shrug. "not really." you tell him. his brows come together.

"are you tired?" he asks, rubbing his hand on your leg affectionately.

"a little." you say. you'd tell him what's wrong with you if you'd know it yourself. "how was training?"

"same as every time." he answers. "there are two new guys, i think coach wants them in the team."

"that's nice." you say silently. james's eyes have a pinch of worry in them.

"is everything alright, sweetheart?" he asks, gently. "can i get you anything? have you eaten breakfast?"

you don't know the answer of the first question. nothing's wrong actually. you feel like you can throw a tantrum for no reason, you also feel like you have no energy for it. you don't wanna ruin james's day, he was happy in training and he came home to an upset you. it doesn't feel fair. you wanna bury yourself to your pillow and scream until your lungs hurt.

"i just-" you start, not knowing the rest of the sentence. "i don't know, jamie, i just feel off today. please don't worry, i'm sure i'll feel better in a few hours."

it's hard for james to see you like this. like you have no will to do anything. you look like you can't even lift your finger, your eyes lack their usual spark. he doesn't push it, though. you'll come around when you're ready. his hand lingers on your leg.

"it's okay." he says. "i'll prepare something for lunch. come to me when you feel like eating, okay? or for coffee. for anything, i'll be there."

you nod. he leaves after giving you a perfect kiss on your forehead.

you can hear the sound of plates and forks from kitchen, james washes a few things, he cooks something simple for himself. he thinks of making you a plate of your favorite breakfast but he knows you won't eat it unless you want to. he's not gonna force you into eating or drinking something, a bad morning is a bad morning. he eats in the kitchen to give you some space. he cleans up the dishes, talks to remus on the phone with a silent voice, replies some texts as he drinks a cup of tea.

you rub your eyes with your fingers. your anger has been washed away by something different, kinda like an exhaustion, something that makes walking hard and talking harder. you manage to go to the kitchen. james looks at you with a soft pair of eyes.

"can you-" you start, tears clog your throat but you don't mean to cry over nothing. "can we cuddle, please?"

james stands up from his chair. "baby." he says, cooing. "of course we can. anything you want." he hugs you in the middle of the kitchen.

"i don't know what's wrong with me." you say. you hate how desperate you sound.

"nothing's wrong with you." james says. "it's okay to have a bad day."

"i don't want to feel like this, jamie." you tell him. "i feel annoyed for no reason and my head keeps pounding, and- i hate it."

"angel." he cups your cheeks to dry your tears. "look at me."

he patiently rubs two gentle thumbs on your tears.

"let me make you something to eat. you can have a painkiller after that, okay? and maybe a cup of coffee. and then we can cuddle all day in bed. you just gotta eat something first."

he makes you a toast after you agree. it's quick and delicious, you eat as much as you can with a glass of cold water. james kisses your head as he takes your plate. you decide you don't need a painkiller. you feel better after eating anyway, and even though you don't really like it, crying helped.

james takes you to bed. he opens the window for some fresh air before joining you.

"better?" he asks. you nod, settling down on bed next to him. he holds you closer, you put your head on his chest to listen his heartbeat.

james doesn't talk until you say something. it's not that he doesn't want to or that he doesn't have anything to talk about, he just feels a tenderness in the air. you don't close your eyes, not sleeping at all, just breathing softly against his chest.

he feels so affectionate towards you, it's like his heart will explode. it makes him more protective, more attentive, more anything to keep you safe and happy. he rubs a big hand on your back until your tight muscles feel a bit relaxed. you get closer to put your head on the crook of his neck.

"i'm okay." you say suddenly. "i'm sorry for worrying you."

"i'm not worried." james lies. you know. "i know you'll be okay."

he knows but it's not the same as seeing you okay, seeing you happy and content in his arms. you are in your head more when it's summer, the weight of not having as many routines as winter is a bit heavy on you some days. james rubs your arm, you wrap it around his waist. your hair smells amazing, he buries his nose against the scent and breathes deeply.

you think it's still nice, having time to spend on bed with james with the summer breeze on your legs. he falls asleep shortly after your generous neck kisses, he must be tired from the early training. you draw shapes on his skin, admire his pretty face. your love for james runs deeper than any kind of anger you could have, he has your heart in his hands and he takes good care of it.

you don't fall asleep, only watch his chest as he breathes, his curled lips and blushed cheeks from the warmth of the nap he's taking. you smile genuinely for the first time that day. a coffee doesn't sound so bad now. james likes waking up to the fresh coffee scent anyway.

I started writing in the era of ffn where like half the experience was talking back and forth in the reviews and then pm-ing and that's how I made a lot of friends that I still have today. and without that kind of comment culture and the author replying to messages, I might not have ever started writing.

someone replied to my review very kindly and asked why I didn't have any fic, my ideas were awesome (hair flip) and that made me realize oh. I don't have to Just read, I can also write the stories

and the rest is history

but fostering that kind of community, just talking to people who love the things you love, is such a fun part of the fandom experience for me and so I'll always reply to comments (eventually. I'll always get there eventually.)

Thank you for the ask! I'm doing well, hope you are having a lovely birthday! I love talking about books too, I haven't been reading as much as I used to and I would really love to get back into it and chip away at my TBR lol

1 - do u prefer a standalone or a series?

I used to love binging series as a kid, but these days I am very picky when it comes to starting a new book series, so I would say I prefer standalones, unless someone whose tastes align with mine highly recommends a series, or the author is someone whose past books I've enjoyed.

11 - the best book u have ever read?

Listen, it's Tumblr and everybody loves it, but I have to say it again - Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo will always be one of my favourites. Nothing in YA could ever top this tbh.

The PJO and HOO series has also really stood out to me and shaped my younger years, and with the new show, I feel the brainrot coming back in haha, so I'd say that for me, these are the best middle-grade books out there!

25 - a book that had u bawling ur eyes out?

I don't know if it's just me, but I actually don't cry at books much (at least not on the outside, because there sure have been times where I was screaming, crying, and throwing up internally lol).

I did tear up a couple times at a few lines in This Is How You Lose the Time War (will elaborate more on it in the next later question), and I can also tell you that the cliffhanger ending of Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan genuinely stressed me out (I was amongst those that agonisingly waited a whole year for the next book), and if I wasn't in shock from it, 10-11 year old me probably would've cried too 😂 Still haven't recovered from that by the way even though I have long finished the Heroes of Olympus series lmao

This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone.

A short, epistolary sci-fi novel about two time-travel agents from rival organisations, who write each other letters scattered throughout time.

It's way more character-driven than plot-driven: the novel itself focuses more on the characterisation of the main characters and their evolving dynamic, instead of the sci-fi aspects itself.

It's so good, and if pretty prose is your thing you'll also enjoy the writing style of this!

My Roommate Is A Vampire by Jenna Levine

A light, fluffy contemporary vampire romance that I'm buddy-reading with a friend right now hehe

I haven't finished it yet but this book is very entertaining. If you want something fun and light-hearted, I'd say to check it out!

It's a little cringe, yes, but it's the fun kind of cringe. The love interest is adorable

His Dark Materials by Philipp Pullman

Okay, I know everyone has at least heard of this one too. And admittedly it's been a (very long) while since I've read it too but I remember loving it so much in my childhood (and being seriously hooked on the movie adaptation, The Golden Compass) so I have to recommend it for the nostalgia

I think it's a seriously underrated book, and even though it's technically a children's series, it still appeals to people of all ages and I think that's really rare these days

I remember really loving the interesting lore and creative worldbuilding!

Okay for this one I polled my friends because I’m not a good judge of how angsty something is. M, the beta for Oberth Maneuver and half my other works suggested that one, because “you’ve made me cry multiple times w it so”. Kangoo suggested Ophiocordyceps.

Oh pshh I dunno—I’m only counting stuff that’s longer than a single scene for this, because otherwise it’s not really an “ending”, is it? Gonna nominate either You'll always be my favorite ghost or I felt a funeral.

Oh thank god, no. A kind of pushy anon once who wanted to know about the next update, but not hate.

uh. no. i'm. i'm Very ace. i don't remember people have sex unless I'm reminded of it. I can barely bring myself to write kissing.

SDKLFJJDSKLFJKSDLJ yeah i write crossovers. My first ever longfic was/is a crossover. I love crossovers. what if I put the guys from one situation in a different situation? Craziest… either Oberth Maneuver for length and investment, dawn breaks (like a fallen vase) for sheer obscurity factor, or then i don't want to be me anymore for mixing perhaps the most incongruous source material.

No! But I really Want to translate I've no language left to say it because that fic is all about language barriers, and I think that would be a fun layer of meta. Someday I'll feel confident to take a stab at doing it in spanish.

i have consulted the gang and i have been told that i am good at tying the physical and emotional together (which is something i do Deliberately try to do as much as i can) and that i am very meticulous with what words i choose to use to carry a mood

DIALOGUE GOOD GOD. every single bit of dialogue ive ever written has been like pulling teeth. the thing is i dont know how to talk like a human person and i dont know how human people talk so it is my worst nightmare. one of my eternal wips is one i started and got like 3k words into before realizing that the dialogue would have to do the heavy lifting for the rest of the fic and then i was like "oh god damn it im an idiot arent i". also sentence structure that isnt subject-verb-object. but im kind of leaning into it tbh.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

my honest to be honest opinion is just. write the dialogue in english and if you NEED to specify what language the character is speaking just be like "he says in [language]" UNLESS the pov character doesnt understand what theyre saying. literally simple as that.

f1 baby!!! this is literally the first fandom that has broken through the barrier in my brain thats kept me from writing fic my entire life. not even amc's the terror 2018 could do that.

date number god damn three went horrifically well. i’m a god damn mess. his guy actually likes me and i like him (i actually made him tell me that he likes me in plain language lmfao). 

this date was chaotic as shit, but it was the most fun that i’ve had in a long time. i spent over 12 hours with him. we went to the mall to play a stupid fucking game, went to an arcade place (but he couldn’t reload his points properly to play the games and we were CRYING laughing because he felt so embarrassed but it was funny to both of us because it was super chaotic), and then we went to a restaurant to eat dinner instead BUT it was a 30 min wait so we go to a wendy’s instead BUT no one was at the drive thru so we settled on eating mcdonalds in his car LMAO. he also admitted that he didn’t eat the entire fucking day during this “searching for food” process and i got kinda mad and yelled “WHAT?” and he laughed at my response but then i remembered that i also didn’t eat since he picked me up and i felt bad alsdfjlkj

so as we were getting food i was like “i feel so bad i’m so sorry for not saying something or suggesting that we get food” and this MAN puts his hand on my thigh and said that it’s not my fault in that comforting voice that he has and my brain-short circuited so much to the point that i held his hand immediately and interlaced our fingers?!?!? i squeeze his hand and he squeezes back? then after we eat mcdonalds in his car he drives me back home, but parks 2 mins away in my residential area to talk (just like our first date). we hold hands again and cuddle in his car at 10:30 pm and it’s dark out LIKE WTF and then my arm was falling asleep so i ended up hugging his arm (?) lol and his hand was resting on my thigh and he started rubbing his thumb against my thigh like FUCK that’s so fucking hot of him like my GOD why tf like WHAT IS THIS DATE

we talk about relationship shit, and essentially talk about our fears and stuff. i literally said that i like him and that it terrifies me and he says that he’s scared too. then he asks about my past relationships with men and i answer them and i ask stuff too. he says that all three of our dates are in his top 5 of all time. idk how to do this anymore. i’m fucking scared. i don’t know what’s happening to me. 

but he made me laugh so much, like i genuinely cannot remember the last time that i laughed and smiled that much. i don’t think that i’ve ever felt so comfortable with someone in a long time. we matched and i felt nothing. i responded on a whim. first phone call i was like “oh. he’s funny and i laughed alot”, then first date i was like “oh, he’s cute and fun to be around.” and now i’m like “i want to see you all the time and kiss your stupid fucking mouth and hold your fucking hand and share my fears and goals and experiences with you. i want to learn about your interests. you’re so dorky but i’m so unbelieveably attracted to you that i want you to do filthy things to me and i want to do filthy things to you and [redacted]”

okay so my dear friend @localdisasterisk tagged me in this. i do not interact w many writers on this platform and therefore will not be tagging anyone. i am aware that is not entirely the point of this exercise. however if u look into ur heart and believe in yourself u can decide without being tagged to do this. anyway thanks risk this is gonna be a mess.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

16 apparently. that is. a lot more than I thought it was if i am being so real w u all.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

85,705. this being bc a majority of my stuff is fairly short oneshots. but is also more than i thought. i rly don't delete stuff off of this account.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

well currently its persona 5. because i have a curse. i did not think i wld be here still a year and a half later but life surprises u at times i suppose.

i've also written for critical role, tma, and some other podcasts. there's a couple of technically original works on there that's mechanisms oc based.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

at the expense of the death of a bachelor, which is unsurprising. tma is still fairly popular and its a jonmartin arranged marriage au. i get emails abt it a lot.

this is the road to ruin (and it started at the end), which is the sequel to the previous fic so. still not surprising.

forever is composed of nows, which is still tma, still jonmartin but this time an au kidfic. if u had told me in high school i wld have a somewhat popular kidfic i wld have laughed at u but the wheels of time do strange things to us.

nothing you say can stop me going home, which is honestly kind of a shock. its post-canon shadowgast and i have not read it since i published it. i don't consider it to be that good and if memory serves i wrote it very quickly but i suppose it is more accessible than my other shadowgast oneshot as this one is not 30k.

don't you know that the kids aren't alright which is a wolf 359 jacoffel fic. which let me tell u. not a popular ship so there's not as much fic compared to, say, kepcobi. i actually reread it recently after i did a w359 relisten and. it sure is Origins Of A Fic Writer.

i try to? i definitely do for more recent works but older stuff tends to fall to the wayside. if u leave comments on my tma fics, thank u so much. i see them. i appreciate them. i don't know when i will reply.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

oh fuck i am not an angst writer. uh. and in the end i'd do it all again maybe? a cursory glance tells me it ends with people crying. but knowing myself it's not particularly angsty. i am, again, not much of an angst writer.

actually wait. remembered the ending of my most recent work. trust the way we're made ends like that bc i was being mean to akira. and akechi tbh. and needed to set up for the one meant to come after that which. will straight up have an angsty ending actually so look forward to that i suppose. but yeah that one’s also not that angsty just. again kinda mean.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

oh probably the most difficult thing to read is time. its shadowgast childhood friends goodness. it gets dark but to me, that just means the ending is lighter with the ending they get.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

not unless people r posting my shit in their gcs to make fun of privately. in which case more power to u ig that shits none of my business.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

no. there’s a couple reasons for this. one is that i haven’t before, not even shit that’s just for me as practice. i don’t feel particularly comfortable doing it, especially to post. and for two i’m on the ace spectrum and haven’t ever rly felt the need. maybe i will someday, and if i do i will surely get advice from saturn as he is the writer i’m closest to who has both experience and Opinions on smut. but i don’t foresee it happening any time soon tbh.

10. Do you write crossovers?

i don’t! i used to dabble in that sort of thing with friends, just coming up w dumb little crossover aus for fun. sometimes i even still do it as more of a thought experiment for how characters from different properties wld interact. but i don’t ever have much of a plot in mind when i do this so i don’t see myself writing crossovers really. but who knows! never say never.

i feel like i’m being asked to pick a favorite child. stucky is kinda the old faithful i feel like. idk what the girlies were on in 2014 but they proceeded to crank out shit that makes me STILL cry. i feel like shuake shld also get a shout out for both being the current fave and also having some truly insane tied together by fate shit going on. time will tell how much they stick w me but i have a feeling.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

i have a lot of abandoned wips in my gdocs but by far the one i think abt the most is the shadowgast the night circus au. it had a lot of potential. i wish i had the motivation to write it. but cr2 has been over for years now and its a true miracle the 30k one i did publish got finished. my little shoutout to it is the fact that the title comes from a quote from that book.

16. What are your writing strengths?

my dialogue and general voice. i think i’m very good at characterization and can capture voice well. most disagreements i have when i’m the editing process involve me having to explain i worded something like that on purpose bc that’s how a character wld think.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

oh description. 100%. i’m so bad at describing shit it truly feels like pulling teeth. i’m the kind of person who thinks in terms of words and am bad at imagining images and it makes it hard. i’ve also been told i cld be better at grammar.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i mean two things on this right? i was in the stucky trenches back in the day and bitches LOVED to put just random russian in the middle of their fics. i know a lot abt how i think u can do this badly. especially if u put the words u translated in an entirely different alphabet than the rest of the fic. if u do this i (and most other readers) cannot even get an idea of what that’s supposed to sound like.

the other thing is that i have done this. like in cr2 canon sometimes in the most difficult thing to read is time caleb will say things in zemnian (german). i did my best to put the meaning of whatever word i used into the story. when i did put a full sentence in german in there i got it translated by someone who speaks the language. i even put an exact translation in the authors note. i was careful abt this and have not gotten a complaint abt it from any readers so i assume people didnt have complaints.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

depends entirely on what u mean by wrote for. if u mean and then published then it’s marvel. these r no longer on my ao3 but im sure if u went digging u cld find them. they’re reader insert fics and they aren’t very good. this has nothing to do w the fact that they’re reader inserts and everything to do w the fact that i wrote them in high school.

if u mean just wrote well. i wrote a rise of the guardians fic starring jack frost and a friend of mine as a joke in middle school. this is all i will say on this subject.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

again asking me to pick a favorite child but just. way more literal this time.

probably the most difficult thing to read is time. again. i keep mentioning it and it is bc it’s the longest thing i’ve ever written and took 2 1/2 real years of my life to get finished. if u like shadowgast pls give it a read. i did put my actual heart and soul into that one.

if u had to have me pick a second it wld probably be this will be the day. i had a lot of fun and learned a lot writing it. had never written a fight scene before doing that and realized when i was already writing i had sort of written myself into a corner where i HAD to write fight scenes. bc it’s a rwby au. for persona 5. both series that u know. have combat. give it a read if u like p5. u don’t actually have to know anything abt rwby for that one i explain anything u wld need to know.

I'm fucking adorable. I guess like shallow/narcissistic but more along the lines of generally I like how I look. There are some things that I don't like but they don't perturb me that much. Generally I think I'm adorable/cute and I like that but have the occasional issue with grander adjectives like beautiful/sexy that we won't get into because liking myself is enough.

I like that I'm good at art?? I'm not like fantastic but aaah to make this easier on me this can lead into my next one

I like my jack-of-all-trades thinking in that I don't really try to HONE one craft and instead try to experience things generally. For example, when it comes to art, I'm not that great digitally or traditionally, or musically, theatrically, or other. HOWEVER I have experience in all these areas ranging from oil paints, watercolors, ceramics, theater workshop, drama, choir, dance, sewing, crafts etc does gymnastics count? jk whatever So I like that I have not only had all the opportunities to try these but that I have tried to work on each of them a moderate amount we're working on sewing and crafting it's my lowest art stat rn followed closely by instruments

Let's see, I like my friend choices. I feel like all the friends I've made have been pretty good. Some have stuck around more than others but any friend GROUP that I've stuck with for a period of time like months to years, I always think about fondly. I don't think I've ever had like an insanely toxic friend or like a friend that would back stab me does that make me the toxic friend? Anyways, I feel like a lot of my life is colored by the friends/people I've surrounded myself with and yeah sure not all of my life is great but I made some nice friends and had some good shenanigans wherever I went.

Last but not least, I like my absolutely self indulgent/self insert nature. Listen, there is like no fandom that I have been a part of where I have NOT self inserted myself into in some way or another and god damn it NOBODYS GONNA DO THAT SHIT FOR YOU UNLESS YOU PAY THEM. I CAN PUT MYSELF INTO MY FAVORITE FANDOMS FOR FREE AND BY GOLLY I'M GONNA DO IT CAN'T STOP ME MY BRAIN IS A SELF INDULGENT THIRST MACHINE AND IT IS GOING

This was just a little thing I did for @scorphargrove’s fic on Ao3, Bite Back. I highly recommend it, I could not put it down lmao, AND the first chapter of the sequel came out recently :D

This drawing is supposed to be in chapter 5 I think? When billy and the reader walk back into the Halloween party and try to have a good time, I wanted to get that like. Initial when they get on the dance floor time frame I guess, when it feels like it’s just those two together lol. There’s supposed to be silhouettes of the crowd of people around and behind them but I don’t know if I executed it right 😅 also I completely forgot reader had Billy’s jacket on till like halfway through the third sketch, so it’s a little stiffer than I’d have liked. I do really like how I did his hair tho!! References are ur best friend forever frfr!

“C’mon, it's the old man’s 25th birthday! We gotta keep going!” Reki said. He was about to fall from putting up streamers in the tallest possible corner of Joe’s restaurant, before Langa steadied the stool he was on.

“Reki, this place is the best it’s probably gonna get.” Joe came out of the kitchen with a badly iced cake, “come tell me what to write on here,”

“Just write ‘you’ve aged.’ that’ll be funny,” Miya didn’t look up from his game, but he did give a little mischievous grin at his suggestion.

“I am not writing ‘you’ve aged.’ that would be weird.”

“Then just add ‘well’ and a smiley face.” Reki said.

“‘Well, smiley face, you’ve aged? That doesn’t sound nice-”

Cherry was tired from their shenanigans all day, “Just write Happy Birthday, you damn gorilla,” and as he turned, he actually saw the cake. “Do you even know how to ice a cake?” he didn’t wait for an answer as he brought it back into the kitchen to fix the horrid decoration job. Hopefully it tasted better than it looked, Cherry had his work cut out for him.

With that, Joe figured they should probably finish up the final touches on everything, and Miya, Reki, and Langa were left in the restaurant with no adult supervision. Worst idea yet, the three of them were already up to trouble. Reki still thought the space could use more pizazz, as he knows Shadow is no simple man. Reki took a cup of glitter and started trying to find somewhere to put it, maybe on the tables? Yeah, that sounded good. He grabbed a pinch and sprinkled it over the plastic tablecloths, for some variety. He didn’t notice, but Langa was sneaking up behind him to get some glitter. By the time Reki figured it out, it was too late, and it was already everywhere.

“Dude! I just washed this hoodie!” Reki said with a smile. He laughed as he threw some glitter as a revenge attack, not noticing that Miya was right behind Langa.

As the first speck of glitter hit the console, Miya was up and throwing glitter back at his assailants. Reki ducked behind a booth, hopefully he'd be safe here. Alas, a face full of green and purple glitter hit him, very on brand. Reki got his own red ammo, and released it onto the catboy.

“What is going on here?” Oh noooo, mom’s back. They halted their war in fear of the pink haired man. “I can’t deal with this right now- Go visit the flower shop and tell his manager she needs to keep him busy. I need to sweep up this mess.” Without a word, the three boys marched single file out the door, sent on their mission.

They weren’t very subtle. Miya, Reki, and Langa went to try to tell Shadow’s- Uh, Higa’s Manager about his surprise birthday. While he was working. They didn’t plan out Cherry’s request that well.

Oh no, Higa came out of the break room, and Mrs manager went downstairs to work on a pick up order. He stopped in his tracks, seeing the devil’s dandruff all over the ground.

“Why the hell is there glitter everywhere.”

The three boys look down and they all start talking over each other, though none saying the truth. Higa was not having it, the more they panicked, the more it fell from their hair and clothes.

“No- you know what I don’t care, get out,” Higa started pushing the boys out the door, not without (very sparkly) protest. He just got done sweeping the main floor, and now these hooligans left a snail trail of unicorn barf that he’d have to clean up before more customers came in. It was a busy day too, Higa could barely have the time to think. He woke up, came to work, and has been busting his behind all day! He didn’t even remember his birthday, it was that bad. The days leading up to today hadn’t been easier either, what with everyone wanting bouquets for some reason.

By the time Reki, Miya, and Langa had gotten back to the restaurant, with an incomplete mission by the way, Oka had been called to help clean up the rest of the glitter while Cherry had to go back to the cake. Oka gave Reki the broom and dustpan he was using, sighing as he walked away to make sure other things were in order.

“What were you guys thinking, roughhousing so close to the start of the party,” Oka was getting ready to pick up Higa, unaware that the boys never got to tell the manager to keep him there. Reki was busy sweeping, Langa taking out trash bags, so Miya had to run after him out the door.

“Ah, wait! He might be home, I don’t- uh, we didn’t get to tell the manager to have him stay at work. I don’t know.” Oka nodded at the new information, and Miya dashed back in after a fallen streamer.

Oka figured he had nothing to lose if he checked the shop first, so he started there. Luckily, Shadow was just leaving. Oka ripped off his helmet and jogged to the locked door to wait for him to come out. He soon heard the door chime and he rose to meet Shadow.

“Oka, I uh- what are you doing here?” Shadow was confused, so Oka vaguely gestured to the moped and held out a helmet.

The End (Xiao x fem!reader)

A/N: There's angst, abortion, nsfw concepts, and swearing! If you are uncomfortable with any of that please DON'T read! This was also written a while ago and was just a story concept I pumped out quickly before I forgot it.

(He’s pretty much straight faced for a good majority of this unless stated either wise lol.) (Also Xiangling is roommate/best friend)

(3rd Person POV)

He didn’t know how human relationships worked. They had been together for a long time. That night in her home, something just tugged at him and he couldn’t help himself. She was so intoxicating and he felt something warm inside of his heart. She stayed regardless of his true form and all the atrocities he committed in the past. She was scared, but trusted him…why? She was so…beautiful.  He panted and caressed her cheek with his hand. Had he been someone else he would’ve said she was the one. “Are you alright?” “Yes, I’m ok.” Although his face didn’t show much emotion, his mind had millions of thoughts in his head.  He got up from where she was laying and proceeded to pick up and gently toss her top garment at her. “Cover up.” “Why? U just saw all of me.” Airy laughs left her lips. “It doesn’t matter. I still want you to be decent. I want to keep some of your dignity.” “I guess.” She put the garment on. “Cant you at least stay just a little bit?” He fastened the vision back around his wrist back facing towards her and sighed. “Only for a little while.”  She smiled. He came over and sat on the bed next to her after he finished dressing himself once more. He didn’t know what he wanted to do or what humans would normally do after the fact. He knew when her breathing slowed. He simply got up and left. ~~~

(1st Person) “So you’re telling me. You slept. With a fucking adeptus?!” “Yea?..” “Conqueror of Demons SPECIFICALLY.” “Yea…” “And your period is late.” “Yeaaaaaaaaa……” “Oh Rex Lapis. What, where, when, and how the hell?!” “A couple weeks ago?…”(sheepish) “Do I dare to ask what sex with him was like?!” “Iiiiiiiiiii think he’d prefer I don’t answer that question.” Bubu Pharmacy was busy when we got there. I stood outside and Xiangling bless her soul was kind enough to get the rest herself for me. I don’t think I could stand the embarrassment. “A pregnancy test Ms. Xiangling?” Baizhu asked. “It’s for a friend!” “Well I hope that your friend gets her preferred result.” We then went home. “What are you gonna do if it’s negative?” “I think I’d prefer that.” “What if it comes out positive?…” “I haven’t thought that far.” “You know you’d have to tell him right?” “I don’t know how he’d take it to be honest.” “Well bestie, I want u to know that no matter what I’ll be here to help u and support u ok?”

(time skip) Xiangling sat outside the bathroom cleaning around. It had been 10 minutes. She knocked on the door. “Hey? Is everything ok? Hello?” “Oh uh, I’m here.” “I-I take it from the amount of time you’ve been in there that the result isn’t very good?…"

She opened the door. I felt like I wanted to cry but I was also in disbelief. Xiangling opened her arms. “Cmere. It’s ok.” I let myself be embraced in the hug. Even if I wanted to cry, my body just didn’t seem to want to let me.  “You know you have to tell him.” “He’ll come if I call out his name.” We decided to give me at least three days to think.

We went to the large tree in the clearing of Jueyen Karst(Azhdaha tree) for a secluded area away from human society. Xiangling agreed to stay nearby in the area just in case. After a while I quietly say, “Xiao?” Pause. The surrounding air stood still. “U called?” There he stood, behind me. I gave a small smile. We sat near the water's edge. “Hey. We haven’t spoken since…that one time.” He looked away at the ground either in shame or guilt. His expression didn’t give away too much.  “Yea. Uh…that.” “H-hey! Don’t worry, I’m not complaining! It felt…nice. I liked it, being close to you.” “Hm.” He closed his eyes, facing the ground. “You’re the first man I’ve ever given myself to. I want this to keep going. I want to keep being with u.” He opened his eyes. “Is that all you have to say?” “Uh….no.” There was a long pause of silence.

(3rd Person POV) “Well? Say it. What’s wrong?” She twiddled with her thumbs. “If it’s so important just say it-“ “I’m pregnant-“ “What?” His head whipped up to look at her. “…I’m pregnant.” There was a long pause and his mouth opened a little. He got up and looked off into the distance at nothing in particular. She was barely keeping it together. “I..” “Xiao?” She quickly got up too. “I-I gotta go.” He shook his head and there was, fear on his face. “X-Xiao-“ “I’m not mad.” He said before disappearing into the ether. She collapsed to the ground and let out a small scream. The worst case scenario was coming true. Images of that night played over and over again in her head. His breath against her body, their lips intertwined, her completely letting herself go to him. Was it all for nothing? Xiangling heard her cries and quickly ran over. She kneeled down and hugged her friend and held her close.

3 weeks had passed and she still hadn’t heard anything from Xiao. And she didn’t know what decision she wanted to take from here. If he didn’t communicate to her she’d have to make one herself. “So…where do u want to go from here?” Xiangling asked while cooking dinner. “I really don’t know…” “Well..you’re carrying an adepti’s child.” “Half adepti aren’t anything new Xiangling. Ganyu and Yanfei exist.” “Well if you want to keep it, you know you have them to help with their experiences growing and living as half adepti in Liyue.” “I guess.” “And you have me to help you too!” “What if I want to get rid of it?” Xianglings bright smile faltered and she placed down the utensils she was using and walked over to where her friend was sitting. She placed her hands on her friends shoulders. “I…(sigh)…I won’t let my personal opinions affect your decision making. Just know I’ll be here to support you and love you no matter what ok?” “Thank you Xiangling.”

It was about a week or so since she spoke to him. Nothing yet. She didn’t try calling him either. Unfortunately Xiangling had a busy night at the restaurant tonight, however, Bubu Pharmacy is just now closing up for the night. She knocked on the door. “Baizhu?” “Hmmmm? Ah, it’s you. How may I be of assistance?” “May we go to the back and talk in private?” Baizhu glanced over at Qiqi. “Continue cleaning the counter and I’ll be right back Qiqi. Please come to the back with me ma’am.” He smiled and she followed him.  “So, what may I get for you tonight Ms.?” “Um…..uh…something anti-pregnancy related?..”  “Ah I see.” He started glancing around the shelves and searching before finding something.  “Right here. This usually has the best results, however it is quite expensive. Since it’s you alone however, I don’t mind giving you a discount.” “Really? Baizhu thank you.” She was touched. He handed her the labeled container and she skimmed over it. “Dr. Baizhu?” That startled her. The child stared at what was in her hand. “Why are you buying that?” “Uh-“ “Alright Ms. I do thank you for doing business with me today. I wish the woman you are buying for the best of luck. I understand times must be rough.” “Oh, thank you Dr. Baizhu. I’m sure she’s very grateful for your generosity.” She smiled and walked out, concealing the container with her coat. 

“What did Dr. Baizhu say?” Xiangling asked while washing her hands. “He gave me something that he thinks should work. However if I don’t decide within 7 weeks, my two decisions slim down to one.” “Are you gonna do it?..” she sighed and looked down. “I don’t know.” The case had been put away in the cabinet for a few days now. She didn’t fancy going through with it. At least not yet. Images of that night would constantly fill her head. His hands. They took many lives yet still felt so soft and gentle. His body, slim yet well built, flowed with hers. And now this.

Painful cries shattered the still night air. Pure agony had enveloped a human soul. Far away in the mountains of Jueyen Karst, the Vigilant Yaksha flinched.

Xiangling and her roommate were cleaning up her business after hours. Todays business was booming and the sales were a big success. Her friend was just starting to kind of look up, however she was still experiencing after effects.  “Oh shoot! I forgot to deliver this to a client! Can you finish closing up for me please? I’ll see u at home!” “Of course Xiangling!” “Thanks bestie! You’re amazing!”

There was a heavy presence. It was familiar… “…hi.” “Xiao…” she said sadly. There was a pause. “I’m…erm…I wanted to talk.” Her back faced him. His arms were crossed. “I thought you left.” She said solemnly. He gritted his teeth. “I needed to think.” Tension was heavy. He looked down. “I’m not pregnant anymore for your information.” His head shot up. His mouth hung open a little and his eyes slightly widened. He gave a heavy breath and looked down again. It took a lot of willpower to not let him see her cry. “This has to end.” “Excuse me?” She asked and turned around to face him. “This.” He gestured with a finger between the two of them.“Whatever this is.” That hurt to hear. “Why?” “Haven't I taken enough from u already?” She didn’t answer and looked down. “Exactly. You’re young. Might as well find another mortal to take your hand.” She was silent. A tear left her eye.  He was about to face away from her again and possibly leave.  “Alatus.” A nerve was struck. “What did you say?” She looked up at him.  “You heard me. Alatus. U wanted me to call you that that night-“ “And it’s obvious there was an error in my decision making-“ “Why did you even come back?” He grimaced. Now he was silent. “You might as well have left me forever. You know what you did to me!” She shouted. He sighed. “I didn’t think you would’ve rid of it.” “And what was I supposed to do when I didn’t hear from u for weeks?!” “It’s not uncommon.” “That wasn’t something you could’ve just waited communicating about!” He didn’t want to say something he’d regret.  “We’re done here.” “Xiao!” “I said we’re done!” He shouted. She stepped back. “We both knew this wasn’t going to work.” Last time she saw him disappear.

Xiangling swore to keep it a secret. But some late night traveler walked by and heard the exchange and now Liyue Harbor’s gossip crew were eating up the story of a single girl carrying the child of an adeptus. Not a day went by where she heard people asking about the baby, and the father, and her pregnancy. She was starting to regret. Her wounds needed time to heal. If she didn’t waste so much time on that damned yaksha… “Would you just shut up?! There is NO baby!” That information was enough for scandals to form and news about her being a murder and adeptus killer spread. She just wished a single day went by where she wasn’t shamed for "ruining Liyue’s future". She cried whenever she got home. Xiangling, a blessing of Rex Lapis, was there with her the whole time. Through thick and thin.  “I still feel physical pain every once in a while.” “I know…” “I just want it to stop.” “Many people are quick to think you’re crazy to not be happy that u were blessed enough to carry the child of a yaksha without knowing the whole context. If they knew what went down I'm sure their opinions would change in a heartbeat.” “What’d you tell them?” “I told them as much! That they have no right to speak. If it was them they wouldn’t be feeling the way they do now. None of this is your fault and you shouldn’t blame yourself. You r an amazing person under highly stressful circumstances. You are completely justified and I’m here for you no matter what.” “Thanks. I just wished things turned out differently…”

~~ He heard the rumors, the scandals, and the gossip. It’s not like he already felt guilty. But this was for the best. He wouldn’t have felt anything for it anyway. Why make the thing suffer because of his past actions.
