Hi! I don't want to be like that one anon (which, very rude. Everyone knew you didn't have malicious intentions), but I do think you have a case of "same face syndrome." Or rather, same head syndrome.

Regardless of fandom, if you line up your works and disregard any unique clothes/hair the characters have, they tend to look the same. For example, I noticed that in your Merlin fanart and MHA fanart, Merlin and Izuku cannot be told apart by just their faces. I feel a lot of your characters have the same long rectangular face and small round eyes. It feels as though you draw distinct design features (EX: Deku's hair, hero outfit, green eyes, green hair, etc.) onto an already generated base.

It's a distinct art style, but it's not great for capturing ethnic features if you stick by this formula! It will get you a lot of flak on the Internet, especially if you draw ethnic features out, even if it was by accident. Your art style must morph to the character depicted, not the other way around.

That may be why Mel in your art style doesn't look like Mel. She's missing her flat nose (I can see an attempt, but the nose is still too small at the base and positioned lower than Mel's real nose is), heart-shaped head (her face in the show is wider and her chin is smaller than your artwork), and her eyes are more almond-shaped rather than the round eyes you tend to depict in your artworks. If you compare her to Izuku in one of your more recent works, they can be twins! Or, siblings at the very least.

I think practicing more unique features would help tackle this! A flat, wide nose, a hooked nose, eyes with an epicanthic fold, "sanpaku" eyes, wide lips, thin lips, different head shapes, and a whole lot more! Playing around with face anatomy is so much more forgiving than body anatomy. It's fun to dissect a character into different shapes and see what makes a character look like them, and then converting it into your art style.

Although the characters you choose to depict tend to morph toward a single base, your art is genuine eye candy. Please do not let this incident discourage you, but encourage you to work on a variety of features to diversify who you can accurately depict. Of course, I am just a random anon. If you do not feel the need to answer this ask publicly or feel my hubris precedes me in critiquing your art, then don't answer! All I request from you is to keep this ask in mind before deleting it.

I appreciate your kind words! Once again, I totally agree with what you're saying, same face syndrome is something I struggle with and am always trying to improve on (if you compare my older art with my newer stuff I hope that you'd be able to see at least a small amount of improvement).

I try to take care in the way I depict characters, obviously I don't get it right all the time, but it is something I work on! I do a lot of character studies (I don't post a lot of them) (I haven't done any on Mel yet (obviously lol))

The reason the Anti-War protests seemed to lose momentum in 2008 had more to do with the economic crisis at the time. I for one had to stop a lot of my activism because I was too busy desperately trying to find a way to feed myself.

People in crisis regularly move to the right, not the left -- and those now threatened can no longer help others.

I will put it simply: How can I fight to save anyone else if I have to fight to save me?

i’m thinking about how agatha says “my thoughts are not available to you, toots. they never, ever were. so don’t go giving yourself a migraine” to wanda and then “you’ll get a nosebleed trying that hard to read my mind” to billy.

a few things about this are interesting to me, particularly because of the layered ulterior motives she has for saying it:

1- agatha’s need to brag about being stronger lol

2- the fact that it does sound almost protective, the way she chooses to let them know they might get hurt from trying too hard. idk if it was just wanda, i could let it go, but i feel like it’s meaningful that it’s wanda AND billy, you know?

because we know for sure agatha cares about billy and she would try to avoid him hurting himself, so the fact that she used such a similar tactic on wanda makes me feel like it might have been a tiny hidden shred of evidence that she didn’t want to cause wanda any more hurt than necessary, either.

and, most notably,

3- we don’t have an origin story for agatha’s ability to block out telepathy, but to me those scenes might indicate that she taught herself that skill, rather than having been born with it. because maybe, if beings as powerful as wanda and/or billy tried hard enough, they would be able to read her mind. and she doesn’t wanna risk that, so she just makes it very clear that they can’t and sorta hopes to hell they’ll believe it.

aaanyaways, this just crossed my mind and i wanted to share and maybe ask if you have any thoughts on it?

First of all, YES to Agatha teaching herself how to block out telepathy. On the shows we only scratch the surface of her immense self-taught knowledge, which I think is a cornerstone of her character. We get plenty of clues, from a very young Agatha accused not of murder but of stealing "knowledge above [her] age and station," to Agatha being constantly shown learning from books and teaching Nicky, to her whole relationship with the Darkhold, not to mention how she seems to understand Wanda's and Billy's powers better than they ever could.

I imagine her being obsessed with chaos/reality magic as soon as she learned about it from the Darkhold (because it's the only thing powerful enough to go against Rio's laws of nature / bring Nicky back) and as a consequence she learned to block telepathy, or if she already knew how, she definitely set out to become the greatest thought-blocker in history, she's just the kind of nerd who would do that. Plus she's extremely jealous of her inner thoughts and feelings, she regards her sorrows and fears as her greatest weakness, so it stands to reason that she'd be eager to learn how to hide them from everyone. I've talked about Agatha not giving a damn about being physically naked, it's her mind she wants to keep secret, and that is why being so uncensored as Agnes was much more humiliating.

Agatha boasting her thought-blocking abilities to Wanda and Billy has layered reasons like you pointed out – that's what I love about her, she's both complex and very predictable in her complexity. She's showing off, she's proud she's better than them at their own game. She's also calculating because you never know, they could break her barriers if they tried hard enough so better discourage them. And I don't know if she was being protective of Wanda too, maybe unconsciously.

But with Billy there was more overt affection, and I keep thinking how important it is for Billy to have someone in his life that is not constantly screaming in his head, and how significant the little exchange they had on the couch is, in retrospect. "I like it here. It's because it's quiet. You're quiet, Agnes." I like to imagine the whirlwind of thoughts this produced in Agatha, because you know her mind is always going a million miles a minute. In that moment her relationship with Billy was truly born I think, in all its three aspects: selfish (this is Wanda's son with Scarlet Witch-like powers that I can steal for myself), selfish in a different way (this is a magical little boy that I can claim and raise as my own, like I never could with Nicky) and selfless (I'm sorry for this kid born with powers he doesn't understand, I need to protect him.) So yes, I guess that even if she was smothering out the protectiveness she felt for Wanda, with Billy she's more ready to embrace it.

re: these tags imo it's not even a question it's matteo. people like to think since matteo is older and someone jannik looks up to and especially did when he was younger and not Mr. World Number One, that jannik was initially the one most insane about the other or even that it was unrequited at first. but i have this headcanon that matteo is actually the one who fell first AND harder. jannik captured his heart and not only that since very early into their meeting and knowing each other. and jannik drove him crazy with his push and pull like one day he's affectionate, touches him more than it's necessary, laughs hard at his jokes, looks at him In That Way. and the next he's kind of distant, or at least none of the stuff that made matteo's heart beat like crazy the day before is there. so matteo yearnssss and is driven insane by thoughts of "did i imagine all that? was i reading too much into it?" but then the next day once again jannik's fingers linger a little Too long on his arm, he stares at him when it seems matteo isn't looking etc. so: matteo would've killed for jannik to touch him For Real and he's been gone for him for years, before jannik was ever seriously considering it. like jannik was attracted to him because duh but he was so young, he didn't really care about love like that. and was immature.

while matteo being a few years ahead is more sure of himself and of social interactions. which makes him more affable in his interactions with people.

Sure kiddo. My van isn't super big, it's a converted Land Rover 109, the back truck bed is what got converted. It's got a bed up at the top, above the cab. Big enough to comfortably fit 2 adults, so more than big enough for a kiddo and his uncle. Got a pretty good little kitchenette and 2 seat dining area, but I prefer eating outside anyway, got some deck chairs tucked up in the top rafters.

The thing that makes most people not like it much is the fact it doesn't have a bathroom like most campers. You either go as nature intended or find a campsite that has bathrooms and showers. I do have a little shower system, it's a bag you can fill with warm water, hook it up on the ladder at the back of the camper and take a quick shower back there.

I used to use tents more when I was a kid obviously, didn't have a camper I could move around. Camping was basically the same, I'd have a bed, a little area I could store food, a fire or gas stove outside for cooking, and that same little shower bag, or a bowl of hot water.

Anyone is big enough to camp, maybe I can bring you with me, eh kiddo? That way you've got an adult with you so you can have fun while staying safe with someome experienced.

I live with two people who couldn’t “afford” euthanasia (There were county resources) and since has just let several pets succumb to health issues. It’s harrowing to have had watched and I’ll never be the same.

I’m sorry you had to experience that 😭

If anyone ever finds themself in this position, please call around and see if you can find a vet who will perform a “compassionate euthanasia.” I performed one just this past week. It’s against our code of ethics to let an animal suffer.

Anyway this is such a good au, ur writings fantastic and im loving what ur doing. As a writer myself I may be taking some notes on how u r writing these characters because the way you make us feel exactly what they r feeling is incredible!
