Spells from the Heart
Pairing: Tom Riddle x Fem!Muggle!Reader
Includes: mentions of war, memory loss, stalking, reader is naive, goes from third person to second, story is in Tom's p.o.v.
Word count: 1.2k
Summary: You come across something you shouldn't have, and Tom decides to keep you.
Passing through the war-wrecked streets of London, Tom made his way to his usual hiding spot where he could perform magic without being discovered.
It amused him to call it a hiding spot, because it was in fact a field, though — in all fairness — it was in the middle of the woods.
As Tom finally reached his destination, the smell of Earth surrounded him. He shut his eyes — a rare moment of vulnerability — and took in a deep breath, taking in the wet scent of soil and flowers with him.
He dropped his worn down satchel and discarded his coat on the ground. He sat atop his dark coat and grabbed an old book out of his bag. It was a book of spells that he was able to convince the Hogwarts librarian to let him borrow over summer break.
He scanned through the contents of the book, trying to decide on the first spell he would like to practice.
As a small bunny came into sight, Tom selected Vera Verto.
He stood up on his two feet and grasped his wand. He pointed it at the unsuspecting creature and whispered, “Vare-ah vore-toe,” pronouncing it as was written in the book.
Before his own two eyes, the bunny went from a living being to a goblet of water. Pride bubbled in Tom’s chest.
As he was about to mutter a spell to reverse it, a gasp from behind stopped him.
Clutching his wand, Tom turned around to find a girl around his age standing in shock from what she’d just witnessed. Like she’d come to her senses, she scrambled into a run.
Fortunately for Tom — but unfortunate for her — he was able to point his wand at her and yelled, “Kahr-pay ruh-track-tum.”
The girl was pulled towards Tom's chest, and with a grunt he wrapped an arm around her waist. She clawed at his arm like a feral animal and he had the urge to ask her to stop it.
With his free hand, Tom pointed his wand at the stranger again. “Obliviate,” passed through his lips and instantly her body went limp. He dropped her onto the damp grass.
Tom wasn’t sure when her consciousness would resurface, so he made quick work in putting his coat and satchel back on and stuffing his wand back in his pocket.
Before leaving, Tom looked down at the girl. Hair covered her face and Tom reached down to move it away. He noted that she was quite pretty.
After being caught using magic, Tom hadn’t visited the fields in a few days. But, his fingers twitched to grab onto his wand. To point it at something and mutter a spell. The children at Wool’s Orphanage got on Tom’s, but of course he couldn’t punish them for it like when he was a child.
Done with being reminded of his predicament, Tom finally decided to go on a walk. It led him to the edge of the woods anyways.
He couldn’t help but think of you as he walked. He hadn’t used a spell on a muggle for so long, and doing so left behind a certain thrill.
Tom stopped walking and squinted. A little ways away from him, he caught sight of a house. It was hidden behind several large trees, casting a darkness upon it and hiding it from view.
As Tom got nearer to one of the windows, he saw a glimpse of someone. You.
He ducked under the window, and thought of how much of a fool he must have looked. He certainly felt like one.
The walls were rather thin, Tom learned as he listened to her hum. He recognized the tune. “I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire.” At times the song would play on the small radio during dinner time.
A few moments passed. In those few moments, Tom realized that you were home alone. You looked to be Tom’s age, and if he was right, that meant your parents weren’t home.
Tom walked up the steps to your front door and knocked. The humming stopped and Tom listened to the sound of hurried footsteps.
The door creaked open. You looked up at Tom with wide eyes. He supposed you were surprised. It was unlikely that many people visited your family much.
“Excuse me, Miss. If it’s no bother, I was hoping you could help me? I’ve seemed to have gotten lost.”
Your face relaxed as you took in Tom’s words. “Of course. Do you just need directions, or do you want to make a phone call to your parents? If you have a telephone, of course.”
Tom pretended to think for a moment. The latter would easily let him into your house. “Would you mind if I phoned my parents? They must be worried.” The lie slid off of Tom’s tongue like honey.
With a nod, you let Tom into the house.
Silly girl.
Tom followed you into a small living room. You pointed to the rotary dial resting atop the wooden table in front of the couch.
“I’ll wait in another room.” With that, you walked up the steps to what Tom assumed to be your bedroom. “I’ll be back in just a moment,” your distant voice called out.
Tom had no use for the telephone. Instead, he looked at what stood tall on the mantelpiece. It was the goblet he had created several days ago.
You must have been so confused when you awoke after being obliviated.
Tom picked up the cup and brought it closer to his face to inspect it. It was blue with carvings of seahorses and mermaids covering the upper half of it.
Tom placed the cup back to its rightful place. He’ll be kind and let you keep it.
Tom slowly walked up the steps, careful not to make the steps creak.
Once he reached the top, he scanned the three doors. One was yours, one your parents, and one the bathroom, he assumed.
Tom opened the first door. It was obviously not your parents, as the only way the bed could fit two people was if they crammed together. The sheets were pink, and books littered the vanity.
He picked one up. Pride and Prejudice. The copy looked like it had been well loved. He tucked it into his coat pocket.
He shut the door and proceeded to open the next one directly across from your room. Disappointingly, there was no sight of you in the small bathroom.
Tom shut the door again and walked towards the room at the end of the hall. He opened it up and saw you sitting on a chair, rummaging through a desk drawer.
You looked up in surprise as Tom entered, halting your movements.
Tom clasped his hands behind his back. “I just got off the phone with my father.”
You nod. “Um.. I’m just looking for my parents' map. I know they have one, and I thought I could give you directions to help you get back home.”
How sweet.
He walked over to where you sat, and took note of how your breathing quickened as he got nearer.
You would make a nice summer plaything. And the best part was you wouldn’t even remember.
a/n: that poor bunny stuck as a cup forever😭 Also, I loved going through the Harry Potter Spellbook to write this. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed! divider creds: @saradika

Answer all of them
Under a cut! This is a long one!!
1: Do they drink coffee?
I don’t think so; though I do think he enjoys the occasional Starbucks drink.
2: Are they left or right handed?
Right handed!
3: How do they do their hair? Facial hair? (If they have it)
His hair is super long! I’ve seen some pictures of him where he has it tied back, but not too many more recently. It looks messy but it is really really cute! I want to brush it or just run my fingers through it a lot. He also does grow some of his facial hair out! I like it a lot.
4: What’s their favorite animal?
Well, going off his fursona, I’m going to go with a wolf.
5: What is their relationship status?
Taken by me!
6: What is their favorite band/singer?
A weird thing about our relationship is that we don’t really talk about or share music too much, but we know we have similar music tastes! I also know he likes Death Grips.
7: Are they more a cat or dog person?
Dog person!
8: What does their laugh sound like?
Ohh, gosh! I love his laugh so much! He also has several of them, ranging from: “This is a horrible picture and I’m showing it to you now,” “This is a horrible picture and I’m NOT going to show it to you,” and my personal favorite is his really really loud laugh he does when some meme he sees gets really weird/bad or we keep adding onto it ourselves.
9: Do they know multiple languages? Which ones?
He used to take French, so he knows a little bit, but he isn’t fluent.
10: How old are they? How old are you?
He is just a year younger than me. 13 months, to be exact!
11: One word that describes them.
I can’t possibly choose one word, but honestly my favorite one to describe him as is “warm” because I see it in his eyes in pictures he sends and when we video chat. He makes me feel like I’m at home with him, even if we’re so far apart.
12: Do they have any pets?
A German shepherd mix named Winston! I hear him a lot in the background of our calls.
13: What is their favorite TV show?
He really liked Bojack Horseman! He binged it around the time we got together. We also like watching shows together that we never finish… Though, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was one we did finish, and we both loved it! He also really likes Dragonball Z, and Bleach!
14: What is their favorite movie?
Oh, that’s a hard one because he REALLY likes movies and film theory and stuff, but I’m pretty sure it’s a Marvel movie. He also told me one time that he likes Studio Ghibli movies a lot, but he talks about Marvel movies a lot more.
15: What car do they drive?
He does not drive.
16: What ethnicity and/or nationality are they?
He’s Australian!
17: Where did you meet them?
I met him online, after he joined my guild in World of Warcraft. I had been a member for a year already, and I believe I had just gotten back from an extended break from Horde side. He was very new to the game, and also very shy at first, but he joined up with us because he wanted to try role play, as well as raiding. He was at a large, server-wide event that I went to as well, but it took him a while to get into the Discord voice chat. He’s very shy! Once he got in though, we hit it off really well! Soon we had begun to spend nearly every waking moment together. Also, we haven’t stopped doing that. It’s been about a year since we started that.
18: What was your first meeting like?
Would you believe me if I said it was almost an argument? I’d been healing a long time, and he loved to tank, so we each thought our own roles were the most important in a raid/dungeon environment. “A tank keeps the mobs off the healer, so they aren’t overwhelmed;” “A tank won’t last long without a healer.” Well, now we know that both of the roles are much weaker on their own, and they are only really at their peak when they have the other with them. Still, that has not stopped him from saving the raid in huge manners as he’s the last tank alive and the boss is at 1% HP. Of course, I’ve saved the raid too, just in much more subtle manners!
19: What is their zodiac sign? Are your signs compatible?
I’m a Virgo and he’s a Libra. So, yes, I do believe that they are!
20: What month is their birthday?
October! That was already my favorite month of the year before I even met him!
21: What is your favorite outfit on them?
Whatever he’s most comfortable in!
22: Are they good texters?
He’s very good! He’s a quick typer, and messages me “Good morning!” if I don’t get to it first every day! He types with the correct capitalization, too, which I find very cute for some reason, but that may be just because it’s him.
23: Your favorite feature about their appearance.
Oh, hmmm… I love the way he looks, and it’s hard to choose just one thing. His eyes, maybe? I did already go over that, as well as his hair… You know what, I’m going to keep talking about his eyes. They’re two beautiful shades of blue, and every time he sends me a picture of him I can see how much he loves me in them, and sometimes I have to make an effort to not be overwhelmed by it. In a good way!
24: Your favorite thing about their personality.
He’s a big sweetheart, and a huge goofball! He knows how to make me laugh and feel better whenever I’m not in a good mood.
25: Do they make you laugh?
Every single day!
26: Do you make them laugh?
Yes, I do! We have very similar senses of humor. Sometimes it’s awful. I love it all the time, though!
27: Are they good huggers/ kissers?
Even though we’re long distance, yes. He is, and I know he is.
28: What is your favorite “flaw” that they have?
He’s a degenerate. It’s really funny though. I love how chaotic he is.
29: Are they nice to strangers?
He is VERY shy, but yes, he is! He’s extremely sweet and kind.
30: What is the funniest thing they have ever said?
Honestly, he’s just the funniest person ever and makes me crack up every single day. Sometimes he just randomly says whatever comes to his mind. Today I really liked his joke about that redesign for the new Incredibles movie. Something about weed. We’ve been making a lot of weed jokes today.
31: Saddest?
Also from today: he didn’t know what a buffalo was. He thought they were different from bison. I was eating buffalo jerky from 5 years ago and he thought it was a brand of jerky. He also thought they were extinct.
32: Weirdest?
Literally any vore joke he has ever made.
33: Cutest?
Gosh, just trying to pick one thing is so difficult... But when he tells me he loves me and how he can’t wait to see me? When he tells me about dreams he has with me in them? It makes my heart melt.
34: Ever dreamt about them? What happened in the dream?
Recently I posted about a dream I had about him and I just kissing each other. Nothing super exciting sounding, but gosh, I want to experience it so bad.
35: How tall are they? How tall are you?
I am... 5′4″... He is... 65″...
36: Do they have a booty?
I do not know. He has only sent me selfies of just his face or completely front facing. I can only assume. Doesn’t matter though!
37: What are their hobbies?
Video games. He really likes World of Warcraft (of course!), Fallout: New Vegas, Grand Theft Auto V, Elder Scrolls Online, Overwatch, Quake Champions, and Pokemon!
38: What are their talents?
He’s has amazing reflexes, honestly. He uses them for gaming, and because of it, he’s amazingly good at just about any game he plays.
39: What would your dream date be with them?
A physical one, where we are next to each other.
40: Does anyone know about your crush/love?
I make it a point to make sure everyone knows.
41: What do you guys have in common?
Pretty much everything, really. From sense of humor, taste in music, and favorite video games for the most part. We also share the same sexual orientation, and we have yet to disagree on politics.
42: Do they go to the gym?
No, but he exercises just about every day! If he doesn’t do a whole bunch of jumping jacks his legs start to get sore.
43: Do they go by their given name?
Yes and no. Since we’re in a World of Warcraft guild, we both go by screen names, so no one there calls him his real name but me. Same thing with just about everything online, though. Other than that though, he does.
44: What is their favorite color?
He really loves orange! Orange and white is one of his favorite color schemes. It makes me think of orange creamsicles!
45: How far apart do you live from them?
About 572 miles-- roughly an eight and a half hour drive.
46: What song reminds you of them?
Boats and Birds by Gregory and the Hawk
47: Do they listen to a lot of music?
I think so, but I think he listens to more random YouTube videos than anything.
48: What do they smell like?
He gave me his jacket for Valentine’s Day, and when I first got it I just held it up to my face and smelled it for a good while because it was the first time I got to experience what he smelled like. I can’t really describe his scent, because I’m not good with words in that way, but I just know that it’s my favorite scent in the whole world.
49: If they were in a book (protagonist or antagonist or supporting character, up to you) how would the writer describe them?
If it were up to me, I would describe him as accurately as possible. Still, I only really know his personality the best, so that’s what I would describe the most. I think he would be a protagonist, as well. He’s my protagonist, anyway.
50: How often do you see them?
We talk every day-- I’m talking to him right now! But as for actually seeing him, I look at every picture he has sent me of himself every night. There’s about... 22 of them that I have, including a video, but there’s one I missed of him in Australia in a “had to do it to em” pose. I’m still sad I lost that one.
51: The last text/ message they sent you?
It was a Sorlag skin from Quake Champions. As for a text message from Discord, it was a “Call me!”
52: The last thing they said to you in person?
:(
53: What is the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you in front of them?
I once said “Heal, boy!” to him while we were leveling in WoW together because his health was low and he wasn’t paying attention, but it came off as “Heel, boy!” like he was a dog... The more embarrassing bit though about it was that one or two of our friends were there as well.
54: Do they have any tattoos or piercings?
To my knowledge, no, but I seriously doubt it.
55: What color are their eyes?
Blue gray!
56: What is their clothing style?
Comfortable: jeans and graphic T-shirts! That I plan to steal...
57: What is one thing that makes them really special?
Literally everything about him. He’s the most special person to me, and I love him for every single thing.
58: Will you tell your crush your feelings?
Alright, gonna be honest, I'm a bi wlw, and I was content to never say a damn thing about any feeling I ever felt, so I’m thankful every day that he did, because I was very ready to take my feelings to the grave and pine after him forever.
59: How long did you know them before you started falling for them?
Probably like a day or something. It didn’t take long to start liking him-- even when we were alone in the server voice chats that day I felt comfortable around him.
60: Was there a defining moment when you knew you liked them?
Sort of! I don’t remember the exact details, but I do remember messaging one of my best friends about it immediately. I was pretty vague about it to her. Something like: “Yeah, I think I’m in love with someone in the voice chat...” And she knew immediately who. I guess I was obvious, though.

Thoughts on Deep (2017)
allow me to quote myself from when i was watching this movie:
“so what we got here is an octopus who’s spent his life secluded in a vault colony, protected from a lifeless post-apocalyptic world, but the vault colony is in trouble so he has to go and find a GECK white whale named nathan to save them. his journey is frought with dangers and destroyed (but still recognizable to the audience) landmarks, has his life threatened by insane and violent natives who survived the apocalypse, one of which is a raider eel who joins him (it should be noted that her fins resemble punk hairstyles, one specifically shown on raider chicks all over new vegas), he ends up in the commonwealth a generic big city that he navigates by subway trains that are somehow still working, and now he’s being chased by ghouls zombie fish.
DEEP IS JUST FALLOUT: OCEAN CONFIRMED.“
Thats the summary, now some more thoughts on this random DVD i picked up at walmart.
Spoilers, of course
It is seriously very falloutish, just rated PG instead of R. the setting, the characters, and a lot of the humor all felt like it’d be right at home in a fallout game (or maybe not that generous, maybe just in a fallout mod.) that makes it sound like it’d be the most amazing movie ever, but i don’t know if its good or not. i liked it a lot more than i thought i would. but its just so crazy and out there and i don’t know what i just went through.
so you’ve got Deep. he’s a dumbo octopus, and his grandpa is the kraken of yore. must be adopted. anyway, he’s kind of a naive jerk. he charges ahead and doesnt give a damn about the dangers, but he also sadly has some ADHD which causes him to go off-course at the worst times. it makes him come off kind of cold towards everyone. when the eel slaps him across the face, you’ll cheer. he deserved it. but he finally grows up and saves the vault colony from the lava-filled doom he created in his obsession with humanity. so he does have a character arc, it just kinda all happens right at the end. and him getting there is kind of annoying.
his friends are all much nicer to deal with. you have Alice the shrimp, who’s got more sass than you can shake a stick at. she ends up being kind of the only sane woman, who snaps Deep out of his severe highs and lows and keeps the group together. Evo is a lanternfish who is nervous and skittish and kind of gross, but by the end he’s so brave that he takes an icy bullet for his friends without a second thought. then theres Maura, the eel who is basically this world’s version of a raider. she struggles with her carnivorous instincts because she’s desperate for friends, which leads her to be a little bit impulsive. but she, like Deep, learns how friendship is really supposed to work and goes from punk to sweetie. only problem is that i’m pretty sure the director included her for fetish fuel. besides her design (smooth and sleek, fin that covers her eye sometimes, you know, the kind of design thats just vaguely attractive enough for dudes to take it and run with it), she’s essentially into vore, and theres a scene that goes on TOO FRIGGIN LONG with her trying to puke up the gang and it gets really uncomfortable really fast. during her introduction, she even jokes its more romantic to eat guys she doesn’t know. Maura, do not do this, you live in the age of internet, theres scalies everywhere who will jump on you.
the supporting cast is just as colorful. the kraken is an imposing vault overseer colony leader who is trying to do what’s best for everyone and especially his grandson. the snow crab who is a rapping gangsta who falls in love with Alice is a strange fellow. and theres a vampire squid (she calls herself an octopus but whatev) who is a former opera singer trying to recapture her fame and shes just one hilarious sunset boulevard reference and she seriously needed more screentime. theres an evil team of a penguin, a walrus, and a dolphin (ok hes not AS evil but still) who long to be human and think bringing the now-extraterrestrial humans some deep-sea fish will do the trick and they’re all just larger than life weirdos. and lucien dodge cameos as a stressed-out scientist. such a fun, colorful cast of characters.
theres so much lore and backstory to the movie that just gets shoved to the side. i mean, its a post-apocalyptic earth. its flooded, but it still uses a lot of the tropes as radioactive-wasteland earths (as implied with my constant references to fallout). and theres an ARK initiative to get all the humans and animals to a different planet, with the marine life ARK lagging far behind. what’s going to happen to this planet when the third ARK when it arrives completely empty? how did earth end up in such a state? its stated that the humans caused it, but how? what’s with the zombie fish? please, movie! you shouldve used the time spent making piss and fart and vore jokes to give the audience lore!
and the three songs are catchy, too.
i just don’t know if i can recommend this one, though. it’s so freakin weird, theres some really cringey parts to it, but then again you get to see an octopus in a gun fight with a dolphin and a walrus while a punk eel and a sassy shrimp look on. again, i ended up liking it a lot. i just don’t know if it would have an audience at large. if someone were to make a new vegas mod based on this movie, however, THAT i could get behind.
#sci talks about dumb movies#i should just make a blog where i review these animated fish movies#and post screenshots and gifs from them
