HOW DO U WRITE SM FOR EACH CHAPTER? /GQ
Ive been struggling to make my chapters 2k words and kinda need some tips π
Ah, words. I'm not sure how to explain it, but I'll try my best :"3
When it comes to writing a chapter, this is what's important to me: getting into character.
Words come from action, explanation, dialogue, exposition and setting. Words define a story, in a sense. And if you're writing from a certain character's point of view like I do, you're going to be writing all of those previous things from that view. I think about what details important to the reader the character would notice. I think about the small things a character notices, and what they don't. I think about how that character would perceive others, and what goes through their head during every interaction or event. Word count is often lost on me when I start writing (assuming I don't get stuck lol) because I'm telling the story through that character's eyes.
Another few things that might help is planning ahead. For some chapters I was a little lost on, I always thought about what I needed to have happen to reach from point A to point B. I try to write with an ending in mind, as well as what major "scenes" I wanted to write and how to get there. Think about what's going to happen in that chapter, and think about how and when you want your chapter to end. Sometimes when you start writing, the little things will come naturally :)
Also, taking inspiration may help. I've loved writing since I was in grade school, and my writing style has grown because I read more and more books. Wings of Fire is a big inspiration for my writing... love those silly dragon books... and then I found out about ao3 through steven universe fanfiction and look where we are now xD Basically, read lots and understand HOW that story is written. That's what I did anyway (β ^β ο½β ^β ;β )β γ
I'm not sure how helpful this is, but in short, my chapter lengths mostly come down to planning ahead. The rest tends to follow from there. It may not work for everyone, because everyone has their own writing flow and that's completely okay! What matters is that you're having fun while you're writing :) hope this helps a little lol,, explaining how my brain works is not my strong suit xD
Happy writing~! β«

About me!!
I'm Hannah (she/they). This is my Cult of the Lamb side blog; I follow back from my main @onethirdofimpossible and I also go by that username on AO3. I'm in my mid twenties and I'm from the US. If you're here, it's probably because you've read my fics, but I've written many fanfics for Cult of the Lamb. My works are typically focused on narilamb or the Bishop family, but I go all over the place: whether you like to read multichaps or oneshots, rated G or E, shippy or not, angst or fluff... there's probably something I've written that you'll enjoy! I'm best known as the author of The Risen Lamb and the Fallen God (the old version that I wrote back in 2022, and the new-and-improved "director's cut" version that is my current wip!) and The Care and Keeping of Baby Eldritch Gods.
A few other hobbies I have besides writing are cooking/baking, making plushies, digital art, and playing flute!
Despite being able to write pretty consistently, I'm a Ph.D. student in environmental science. If I haven't posted a fic update in a while, I'm probably preparing for a conference or getting into a fistfight with hydrostatic equilibrium or something.

All my written works on AO3
Twitch, a recent endeavor of mine where I stream games and occasional art/writing!!
Fic playlist for The Risen Lamb and the Fallen God, with all songs in chronological order of what they refer to in the fic c:
I have a ko-fi but paypal is giving me shit so if you REALLY wanna b nice I have a Throne. I don't expect anything ever but if u get me something I'd die for you. and write more stuff while happier.
FAQ below the cut!
How long have you been writing?
I've been writing fanfiction since I was in sixth grade! I wrote what was basically a self-insert pokemon soulsilver fanfic, entirely by hand. It took up four full composition notebooks and then some. However, I've only been posting my writing publicly since 2016. Even after that, I had a nasty habit of making a sideblog for any fandoms I got really into, then deleting my blog and sometimes orphaning my works when I lost interest. I've since learned my lesson, though!
How long have you been drawing?
Ha, uh. I got a digital drawing tablet in May 2023, and started really drawing as a hobby for about... three months, and then the school year started again. Between then and June 2024 I drew like one or two things. So I've actually been practicing for only a few months. Constructive criticism on my art is welcome, especially as I learn!
May I send a fic/art request?
If my bio says they're open, you may, I think they're really fun! Depending on what does or doesn't inspire me, I won't take every single request, but I love requests because they give me excuses to try new things.
Do you write smut?
I've written a couple E-rated fics! My alternate pseud for fics of that caliber is remainderofreality. I don't write it very often, though.
What made you decide to start writing? What makes you decide to keep writing?
1. I had a creative bug I couldn't not itch. 2. Having creative hobbies and sticking to them has dramatically improved my life. I'm happier, I have so many friends it's connected me with, I get to see other people be inspired by things I make (?!), it keeps my mind active and playful, etc etc.
Do you have any suggestions for people looking to start writing?
Before you start worrying about the quality of your writing, the most important advice I can give you is to keep writing and have fun with it. Don't be afraid of being "cringe" or not getting the engagement numbers you're hoping for (in fact, it's better to not have any expectations about that at all!). Not everything you write is going to cater to everyone, and that's okay! But writing (especially fanfiction) is first and foremost for fun and even though it's difficult and you will struggle, it should be rewarding and fun. I've answered a few asks about writing advice and I can't find them all but here are the ones I can: 1 2 3 4
When do you expect to update your fic next?
Lmao god if I know but I'm working on my wips nearly every single day so I promise I haven't forgotten it. I'm a busy person! I'm a PhD student, teaching assistant, research assistant, and executive dysfunction haver.
Do you take commissions?
I don't, and I have no plans to as of now. I'm actually personally against writing fanfic for pay (copyright and ethical reasons), but for art I'm simply not experienced enough yet to be comfortable with that. However, I have TONS of friends who do take commissions so if you're looking for someone I can give you recs
May I draw fanart for you based on your fics?
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME I EXPLODE WITH JOY if you do please share it with me please please please. I will also likely ask for your permission to print it out and frame it (not a hyperbole, btw).

hi!! πͺ²πͺ²πͺ²πͺ²πͺ²πͺ²πͺ²πͺ²πͺ²πͺ²πͺ²πͺ²? jk lol but a girl can wish ;) π β’ how did you get into writing fanfiction?
(ask game)
Hahahaha, I didn't even realize that was one of the options, I guess I didn't read through the whole list.
πͺ² β’ add 50 words to your current wip and share the paragraph here
Started the next chapter of Disillusioned:
Down the hall, Danny could see Principal Ishiyama walking toward him. He stopped and watched her come closer. He knew that Sam and Tucker were waiting for him but he would gladly take any opportunity to delay meeting up with them. All around him, students shuffled past, threw open their lockers, slammed them closed, whooped and hollered and gossiped. Ishiyama greeted several students as she walked by but her eyes always returned to Danny. Danny gripped his backpack straps but did not move.
π β’ how did you get into writing fanfiction?
I was always really into creating original stories since I was a little, started writing stories in first grade. As for fanfiction, I think my earliest "fanfics" were for Aladdin since that was and still is my favorite movie, but I never wrote them down, I always just imagined them in my head. The first fics I wrote down were for Pokemon, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Sailor Moon, but I never published them anywhere.
I got into Danny Phantom fanfiction shortly after watching the premiere of Secret Weapons on Nickelodeon. It's revealed in that episode that the password for Danny's computer is "Paulina Fenton" and I remember thinking huh, he still has a crush on her even after everything that's happened? And I personally adored Paulina so I was curious if there were any Danny/Paulina fics and no, there were literally NONE back in 2005/early 2006. And in fact, all of the fics that did feature Paulina were very anti-Paulina. So I decided to write my own Paulina-centric Danny/Paulina fic. And that's all I can claim in this fandom, I was the very first to write a Danny/Paulina fic lol.
The fandom has calmed down a bit in terms of its Sam-worship and Paulina-bashing, thankfully. And I do still love Danny/Paulina but obviously my dark angst fics get a lot more engagement!

weird writing ask: 18, 19, 24
18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end.
Going with the first passage with a clear origin story that came to mind. The first draft and final version of a moment from a long-awaited treasure at the end of my cruel fate:
The concept started very late when I was very on sleep meds way back in september and wrote this:
The next day I managed to figure out what I was thinking about, which was the final cutscene of Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty. The dramatic reveal of Tychus working for Mengsk is ahhhhh. The way Jimmy just hears Mengsk's voice coming from Tychus's helmet and it sinks in that the man he thought was his best friend, who he has a long history with, was a mole working for his worst enemy for the entire game AHHHHHHHH
youtube
So I wanted a similar dramatic reveal moment with Serrennedy. Krauser's voice coming from an ear piece Luis has, Leon realizing that he's been betrayed. I went through a few variations of the rest of the plot, like there was a less angsty version where Leon didn't die, but the Saddler using Luis as a tool to distract Leon and Krauser monitoring him concept stayed the same over the SEVERAL MONTHS it sat in my drafts collecting dust
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
As far back as I can remember tbh. I was writing pokemon fanfiction by first grade. I just liked it. And I've been sporadically writing ever since, posting it online starting in middle school. I had a phase in middle school where I wanted to be a Real Fiction Writerβ’ in middle school, and then in high school I was a journalist for my school's newspaper and had a phase where I wanted to be a journalist. That interest gradually faded and was replaced with wanting to be a mortician (still planning on that!) and I lost interest in writing fics, possibly because my daily X-Men roleplay was enough to get my writing fix Β―\_(γ)_/Β― Something about Luis Serra did insane things to my brain and got me writing more than I had in a very long time, and actually posting my writing for the first time in years. I'm just going to keep going with whatever's fun for me.
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
This is hard for me to answer, it just depends. I just kinda do stuff impulsively. I guess my visualization stuff counts as prep. As everyone knows, my RE4R autism is terminal at this point and I have folders on my phone for a few characters, locations, pairings, etc. and the first thing I do when I come up with a new concept is go through all of those folders selecting pictures that feel related. And of course I do my playing with pngs like they're paper dolls edits.
It gets the brain juices flowing. And I do enjoy it, otherwise I just wouldn't do it.

hey kass! i was wonderingβ¦. when did you fisrt get βactiveβ on social media - as in fandom stuff?
how old were you? which fandom? which social media/forum/whatever?
xx
Oh my - I've been online and involved in some sort of fandom since I was around 9? The first forum I ever visited and posted on was just for video games in general, but I wound up posting quite a bit on the Pokemon forums and sharing the fanfiction I wrote about my Pokemon OC there, hahaha. I remember writing it throughout 4th and 5th grade.
My fanfiction.net account has been around since I was 11 - everything I posted on there is still up and readable as well, LOL. I wrote for all sorts of fandoms - Zelda, Zoids, Inuyasha. Hope that sates your curiosity, lol.
#nerd whinings#cuties#palpatine voice: queue it#even tho i'm sure u will never see my answer to this askπ

So, I don't really know how to Social Media... I never interacted much with people on platforms like this but I'm gonna try my best here...
This will be a little post about me since I plan to start streaming a bit again next week, more about that later.
So yeah, I'm KingBooHoo, my name is Johannes, I'm 24 (25 in two months holy shit time flies fast) and I'm from germany. Also I'm a trained IT-Administrator, so if you have any technical questions don't ask me I already have enough to fight with those at work (I'm kidding ask me anything if you like xD)
As for my hobbies I love playing video games and indulging myself into certain fandoms like some of you know. Most of these being Pokemon and Yugioh. I also play a lot of other games which would be too many to just list here...
I also love writing fanfiction sometimes. I wrote stuff in the past for Yugioh VRAINS and for Ace Attorney. Feel free to check out if you haven't already on my Ao3: https://archiveofourown.org/users/KingBooHoo My next story for VRAINS is in the making. I hope I get out the first chapter next week!
Last but not least. I love music. I've been playing piano since I was in grade school and it always calms my nerves playing after a rough day. Music is a gift that I love above everything else. If you'd ask me what one thing I would take with me on a lonely Island it would be a piano xD Oh! I also love to sing! It's a super fun activity to do, especially in a group of people.
So yeah that's me... feel free to ask me anything. I'm also pretty good at listening if anybody has some pressing matters that we all sometimes have in life... I'd love to help (If my limited time allows me to xD).
Anyways my other social medias are:
Twitter (no I do not post but I retweet cute cats): https://twitter.com/KingBooHoo
Youtube(mostly just a dumpster of funny moments with my friends): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_DY1g6tnDezwV-muuX5GLw
Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/kingboohooo
Yes I plan on starting to stream a bit and it's probably Pokemon. I just love hard nuzlockes if anybody's interested ^^

π β’ how did you get into writing fanfiction?
I feel like I had attempted to write fanfiction before I even fully knew what it was. I have a 'book' I wrote on printer paper that's only a few pages long telling a story about a Charmander befriending a Torchic and they end up making friends with some other starter Pokemon, and also Torchic briefly gets captured by Team Rocket and Charmander breaks it out, and by the end they all evolve and continue on together as friends. Never wrote a continuation but hey, it was technically done and it was a fanfiction but mostly it was just a small child thinking Pokemon are Cool and wanting to write a story. I wrote lots of random short stories like that starting in around fourth grade, since we had an assignment to write a story and I went WAY overboard on mine and realized how much I loved writing, and I just. Never stopped :D
I then properly got into writing fanfiction that was acknowledged as fanfiction when I joined Spyroforums in around 2008, which had a whole subforum for fanfiction, and I thought that was cool and started writing Spyro stories too. It only continued on from there, with me writing for various fandoms as I got into them, because in the end I want to see my fav characters in Situations and I have the power to make it happen <3
π± β’ post your AO3 total stats
wowee that's a lotta words
π΅ β’ share the link to a playlist you love
I don't actually really use playlists, music tends to distract me unless it has no lyrics :') I can listen to music and DRAW, but listening to music and writing gets iffy
But you know what. Here, have a link to the ancient playlist I put together back when I was writing Payment in Blood, with the help of some readers who sent me very good suggestions that I never would have thought of on my own. It's only got 16 songs in it but it was pretty much just meant to represent various aspects of the fanfic as it went on, with the first song setting the tone for the entire fic (and also the deal made at the start) and the final song representing the relationship between the main characters by the end of the story. I like listening to this from time to time, it's nostalgic :D

Author Note:
On July 7th 2022 I awoke to the awful news that Kazuki Takahashi had been found, dead, and the bottom dropped out of my world.
In 2001, when the show first aired in the UK, I was only 13 and I was enamoured with this cool show about trading cards and friendship. At a time when I was a weak, constantly bullied person with only a small group of friends, Yugi became my mascot.
I was much more like Joey in personality, hense my nickname, but Yugi was basically my spirit animal. He loved games, had his own game shop (which has always been a dream of mine) and just wanted to help people.
It was through Yu-Gi-Oh! that I became someone who would stand up to the bullies for others, not just for myself and someone who was brave enough to go to college to follow my dreams.
On my 16th Birthday, just before I started my higher education, a friend gave me my Dark Magician Girl, who to this day rests within my deck. This was because I had purchased EVERY Magicianβs Force booster pack I could find, in my home town trying to find her and failed. I do, however, still have a small army of Sonic Duck.
This was around the same time I started writing fanfiction. While I was writing before this point, it was Yu-Gi-Oh! that I first published with, and itβs Yu-Gi-Oh! that has helped my writing style and world building skills grow. I wanted to tell a story that honoured the story that had given me such life and I had to develop my skills to do that.
At college I made many friends on my Art & Design course through playing Yu-Gi-Oh! Me and my friends spent many lunches playing the game on the tables near our classrooms.
As university approached in 2006, I suddenly grew afraid. Yu-Gi-Oh! was only on cable at that time and I knew I would not be able to watch once I left home. DM was in the Millennium Arc at this time and I found myself praying that it would end before I could no longer watch.
The day after the final episode aired, during which I, now 18, sobbed like a small child, my acceptance letter arrived. Β
I would never have gone to the anime club at my university if Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokemon and Dragonball Z had not gotten me into anime. If I had not attended, I would not have met the man who introduced me to my wife.
And if I had not played the card game, I would not have had the friends who helped me through when my PC blew up 3 months from final project hand-in and my future was almost destroyed because a petty teacher would not give me an extension on a piece of coursework worth 60% of my final grade in his module.
Through Yu-Gi-Oh! I have made many friends since graduating, I have had a lot of fun at conventions through it and Pokemon, and my most proud cosplay achievement was the completion of my Millennium Puzzle, which was made in 2011 and is STILL solid to this day.
The difficulty I had making it proved to me that if I can make my own Puzzle, I can design and build anything.
So far it has not been proved wrong.
Even now, at 34, after I have married my wonderful wife and moved to America, I still collect the cards, I still write fanfiction, I still have friends that I would not have met if not for the series and I have a life I would never have found without the show.
I have had messages from readers that I have inspired them, that they have grown up reading my work. I could reach those readers, I could be there for them BECAUSE of Yu-Gi-Oh!
And then, a few days ago, I found that the man who created such a huge part of my life, was gone.
We have found out since that he was lost to a terrible accident. A reef shark took a man from us that brought joy, happiness and friendship to million upon millions of lives. A man who loved fanworks. Who loved knowing that people were passionate about his work. Who loved the idea that friendships had formed because of his work.
And a tiny little bit of my heart breaks to know that.
But his legacy remains.
We remain.
The lives touched by his work survive and we will continue to grow.
We can be there for those who discover his work moving forward.
We can support those who need support during this dark time.
We can be the light at the end of the story.
So while my heart grieves and, honestly, I keep crying, I know that I belong to something incredible and I will do my best, moving forward, to keep his thoughts in mind.
Because if I had the Puzzle, if I had that One Wish?
I would wish to be someone that Kazuki Takahashi could be proud of.

1, 3, 4, 6, 13, 18?
1. Describe yourself how you would describe a character youβre introducing.
She was rather short and plain looking, continually pushing her hair behind her right ear. Hazel eyes were staring out into nothing, even as her hands moved across the keys of her laptop. Several half-finished projects sat around her physically or on the tabs of her laptop, but her mind wasn't able to focus on any of it.
3. What is your absolute favorite kind of fic to write?
Time travel, but I answered that in a previous ask :) Also alternate universes, but that kind of is like a cousin to time travel. I've always attributed my love for them from being way way way into katekyo hitman reborn around when I got into fanfiction - they have a lot of those sorts of fics.
4. Are there any other fic writers you admire? If so, who and why?
@werewolves-are-real has like just a lot of good fics, especially their digimon characterizations are just to die for. @garamonder's spiderverse/marvel crossover blew my socks off, and their voice thorugh it was amazing. prettybird979 on AO3 is another of the authors who I turn around and there they are again, writing great things. @the-east-art always has something good with great au ideas. yellow_caballero on AO3 also has good fics especially for tma that have such good twists. @wildfey always knocks the wright family characterization out of the park. And then HopeStoryTeller (who, hey, I think writes pokemon cynthia-centric fics now) always has really good ideas and excutes them well.
6. First fic/pairing you wrote for? (If no pairing, describe the plot)
My first fic I published (so not the warrior cats roleplay in a journal with like five other girls in my class) was an oc-centric fic for Bleach where an ignored twin became really skilled and also fell in love with a shinigami. I mean, she was also a shinigami, but like it was a secret.
13. Favorite fic from another author?
Hm, IDK if it's my all-time fav fic because trying to decide things like that causes me anxiety, but I love yellow highway lines (that youβre relying on to lead you home). by renquise. It's a motorcity fic, but more than that it's a beautiful and fun story about five friends traveling across the post-apocalypse landscape to deliver a package. What's in the package? Read to find out. I feel like you can probably read it and have a good time with minimal knowledge of motorcity, so please, give it a try! I always come back to it now and again.
18. How old were you when you started writing?
I think I first considered writing something I was good at in, like, third grade, but I didn't actively write until I was probably 13 or 14.

πππππππ ππππ : Both Percy Jackson lines of books. I did a lot of reading way back in elementary school, but I reread the FUCK out of those books. Even after Iβd stopped reading for fun (thanks, school!), Iβd still find time for the Heroes of Olympus books. I reread them so many times throughout my life. Should really read the rest of that canon.

πππ / ππππ : Fuck, uh, Witcher Season 2 I think? At least to completion, Aura and I probably started something else we didnβt finish afterwards. Weβve fallen off watching things hard recently, and I can really only watch TV with her KAJBCKASX.
ππ. πππππππππππ : Thereβs a lot of answers to this, but the original, truest inspiration for me to start writing was actually my 7th grade English teacher. Our first essay was a narrative one, and I wrote a big essay about how I got in trouble for throwing rocks out of our backyard (true story!), and she just loved every word of it. I failed my way out of the honors program back then, but she always hyped be up and encouraged I do more writing. The very next year, Aura and I began our shitty self-insert Pokemon fanfiction, and it all snowballed into my 7-year old Mega Man RP blog KAJBSCBAKSX.
ππ. πππππ ππππππ πππ : Itβs based on a song from The Megas, a band that does lyrical adaptations of Mega Man (and Castlevania, recently) songs. The song in question is Continue. Itβs a great listen, as is the rest of their discography across both games; thereβs only one song from them I actively dislike. I recommend them!

Hannah MUSING and being SAPPY and REFLECTING and shit
just realized, it's the 22nd of December. Twelve years ago today, I started writing my first fanfic, and kicked off my love for creative writing as a hobby. I was in sixth grade, and since I didn't really have my own laptop or anything, I wrote it all by hand-- a 400+ page-long self-insert pokemon soulsilver fanfiction. I retconned so many plot elements that didn't make sense as I continued the story, my characterization was all over the place for a while, and it was... kind of a trainwreck. But it taught me how to write and I love it.
I've been writing for half my life now. It started as a silly story that I would read out loud to my family as I finished each chapter, and now the notebooks are sitting in a box under my bed, some of my most cherished objects. Since then, I've had like five original long-form projects that I've bounced between (most of which will remain an eternal wip because I thought of them when I was like 14), began sharing my writing online, had the writing I published online plagiarized which made me terrified to share anything publicly again until I was 16, placed in an international writing competition which um feels kinda pretentious to mention but I'm trying to remind myself I'm good at things sometimes shh, discovered my niche is actually poetry, gotten published, and found the loveliest community I could've ever asked for.
I started out with five captive readers and now there are thousands of you. Thank you for continuing to stay with me.
#i thought abt this in the middle of writing and had to post this before i forgot#hannah is making herself emotional AGAIN because she is celebrating her growth and full of love#I'd like to thank my mom.. and my daaaed

4 and 6 for bideo games
6: A game thatβs changed you the most?
OH MAN THEREβS A FEW.
honestly id have to name two: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Darkness and Pokemon Ranger Shadows of Almnia.
LIKE OKAY.
Mystery Dungeon was my first exposure to large narratives in video games. With all the emotional punches and plot twists and turns all over this thing with some of the BEST foreshadowing and character writing Iβve ever seen in a spin off Pokemon game, this is one of the things in my early childhood that got me really into storytelling. i remember specifically like, my first time doing written out prose was trying to make a novelization of mystery dungeon! i started making stories abt explorer teams with my toys and cards n stuff bc i was like 10 yknow what i mean HFKJDHFKSD
but then i also played Rangers: Shadow Of Almnia. this game was the reason i made my first ever comic! it was basically a comic version of the game but with my ranger OC Lola! she was also secretly a fairy whos parents were vaporeons but she WASNβT a pokemon ok she was a fairy and she has a deep seeded rivalry with darkrai who tries to kill her at some point but its fine.
yeah i was like 8 what do you want from me HJFJDSHFKDS
BUT LIKE LEGIT. THAT WAS MY FIRST EVER COMIC. I WOULD NOT BE MAKING FERRYMEN NOW IF IT WERENT FOR MY WEIRD MARY SUE RANGER FANFICTION I MADE WHENEVER I WAS IN LIKE? 2ND OR 3RD GRADE FHDJFHKSDJF
theyre the games that got me into stories!! and i wouldnt be where i am or who i am today without storytelling
4: Worst game youβve ever played?
oh baby you already know its YIIK
IβM PUTTING THIS BIT UNDER A READ MORE BECAUSE GOOD LORD DO I HAVE A LOT TO SAY HERE FSJDKHFKJDSF
i bought the game toΒ βgive it a chanceβ sometime last year i think? bc like listen. listen. i only vaguely knew about the problems with it, i knew it had supposedly bad writing and the dialogue could be a little awkward. that was it. i took a look at it and tbh i liked the visual style! like
i genuinely like the art style for the talk sprites! and i get the vibe theyre going with the low poly models and the very bright colors, its supposed to be very 90s-esque!
it does kinda feel like its missing that little Spark that really ties it all together? its missing a little pizzazz to make it really stand out and REALLY get the vibe its going for, it misses the uniqueness mark but! it does its job okay enough for me to get what its going for!
plus honestly i found the intro sequence with the crow asking you questions really charming! in full context of the actual shitshow i was about to get into it was a little tryhard-y, but i liked it when i first saw it!
so i figured hey, what the heck, iβll give this thing a try. the intros cute and i like the art style, maybe people are giving it too much flack.
and then. and then alex picks up that first phone call.
AND IT GOES. SO DOWNHILL. FUCKING IMMEDIATELY
LIKE OKAY. THE GAMEPLAY IS SO BAD AND REPETIVE AND GENUINELY BROKEN. im no game design expert so i cant really explain why, but combat in yiik DRAGS ON so much that its GENUINELY fucking draining. no joke while trying to complete this game i had to put it down multiple times bc it made me dissasociate. i WISH i was joking. i WISH that was exaggeration. it isnt. it is far fucking from it.
AND LOOK USUALLY. USUALLY. I CAN PUT UP WITH MEDIOCRE OR EVEN TERRIBLE GAMEPLAY IF THE STORY IS GOOD.
BUT THE STORY ISNβT FUCKING GOOD. ITS AWFUL.
itβs somehow both over explained and absolutely fucking nonsensical, characters will repeat themselves THOUSANDS OF TIMES in these long, repetive exposistion dumps that explain every single detail while making sure you understand NONE of it. the characters are unlikable (ESPECIALLY alex, the main character), itβs tone death and insensitive, and itβs just so. fucking. pretentious.
there are other issues in the game like racism, sexism, insensitity towards very serious topics (like using the real life death of Elisa Lam for shock value. no thats not a joke. the devs themselves have admitted this was intentional.)
not to mention all the shit the devs have done which we dont have TIME to get into-- LONG STORY SHORT YIIK IS A MASSIVE FUCKING SHITSHOW OF A GAME AND DONβT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IT LIKE I DID. i WISH steam would let me refund it. my brains gonna explode.
i think the devs owe me compensation for damages. just damages in general. /j

πππ° ??? β‘β‘β‘
Thank you, dear!!
π Β What time of day do you prefer to write? Why?
Bwahaha! Uh. During the work day actually?! looool Maybe Iβm a horrible person, but my job involves a lot of sitting in front of a computer and being ready to help parents and students when they need it, which also involves a lot of sitting around doing nothing once Iβve done all my teaching and lesson planning and grading, and test stuff for the day , so I like to have my work email open in one window and my writing doc in the other and do it during company time! π
π Do you read your own fic?
I do! When Iβm stuck, rereading my own stuff helps, like, remind me how to write again, if that makes sense? And sometimes if I get a nice comment on something and it references something from the story, Iβll go back and read the part they mention. :)
π° Name one of your fave comfort fics (doesnβt have to be your all time fave).
Gonna really date myself here, but back when I first discovered fanfiction was a thing, back in the olden days of the late 90βs/early 2000βs, there was a pokemon writer that seriously inspired everything I am today because they were like, my favorite writer, named Spruceton Spook. They wrote this one Pokeshipping fic called Sleep Tight back in 2002, and I will still go back and reread it from time. It brings me back to lil Car days. <3
