The Boyz as my University Professors
Disclaimer: Some of my professors are evil bitches; none of the boys are truly evil and I am in no way implying they are or trying to make them look bad! I love the boys and I just thought it would be a fun thing to post :D
-------------------------------
Sangyeon:
the one professor that absolutely loves the topic of his class
super wholesome and smiley throughout the 90 minutes class time
getting super close to the camera (actually to the mic) because he is worried students won’t hear him well enough
always asking questions and encouraging students to interact
not offended when something isn’t clear and therefore students don’t know the answer
reading EVERY. SINGLE. MESSAGE written in the chat (sometimes students have mic problems or don’t wanna speak)
making everyone feel valid and appreciated
being super calm and relaxed
barely doing breakout-rooms cause he knows no one likes them
ending class always a little earlier cause “I know how stressful your life can get.”
just the cutest prof out there
Jacob:
another sweet guy
never holds class at its normal timeframe
just uploads all the files students will need (although attendance is supposed to be mandatory)
“you guys are all grown-ups, I trust you to decide yourself when it is the best time for YOU to study.”
constantly uses smileys and is therefore super popular with students
doesn’t teach many classes, cause which good prof does that? ugh
gets right back at students when they email him their concerns
and no, you don’t get half-assed answers
you get a very detailed answer, which is rare in university life
THANKS STUDENTS FOR SENDING HIM THEIR HOMEWORK!!!!
“Dear [name of stundet], thank you very much! 😊”
offers students to call him by his first name
“I’ll call you by your first name too if that’s okay... creates a more comfortable atmosphere!”
the best <3
Younghoon:
he is a savage professor
his look is hella scary and students fear taking his classes
but he is actually the coolest and most laid back dude ever
the first time class is held, he comes in, stone cold expression and literally throws his bag on the desk - everyone is hella scared
then he says, in the scariest voice ever, “We can have fun here in class, no problem, but i AM YOUR PROFESSOR. NOT YOUR FRIEND. Remember that.”
*everyone scared to death*
“Welcome to class everybody! My name is Mr. Kim and I am very looking forward to teach this class in our summer term! Feel free to ask any question that might come up and don’t hesitate to reach out to me whenever!”
no need to be scared, he is a sweetheart
strict and has high expectations, but won’t overdo it with homework or assignments
constantly jokes around but then switches back to being serious
he creates a nice atmosphere where students want to learn something and do it voluntarily
cares for his students and appreciates their hard work - especially during the pandemic
“I know this is not easy for any of us but I am so amazed by your guys’ work this semester. It was an absolute pleasure teaching you. I hope to see you guys again, but not in this class. Please don’t fail.”
I love him
Hyunjae:
omg, he is an absolute legend
class starts and he is doing his introduction part
the class i about british literature
“Welcome to this literature class, you are in for a long ride!”
so far so good right?
“Let me just say, British Literature is an ABSOLUTE shit show!”
when I tell you, I almost died hearing that (no offense to anyone, pls don’t take my profs words to heart... he lives for british literature 🥺)
he definitely has his students hooked with this one sentence
“the teacher that taught this class before me... what was he even talking about! I mean, british literature is so much more than what he made it out to be!”
basically starts ranting
teaches with so much passion
can’t forget the jokes here and there
also uses smileys which students seriously love (at least I do)
wants students to be informal with him as well
“moving on to this next topic... a little disclaimer before we start: I will go batshit crazy with this topic because I LOVE IT. So please tell me to shut up when I exceed the 10 minutes mark. Thank you!”
A savage legend that everyone loves
sadly only teaches a handful of classes as well
Juyeon:
super laid back and chill
does never check attendance and just trusts his students
usually talks most of the time and doesn’t ask too many questions
is super happy when students contribute though
but he isn’t one to force them
“I know your day has probably been really long, so it’s okay. I’m not taking this personal.”
his class is not based on theory but more on experiences he made
shares funny stories, mistakes he made and what he learnt from them
always gives the smallest and easiest homework ever
“please just share your experiences with these types of situations in our forum”
and he does not want to grade students based on an exam
“I have a better idea. In order to understand a certain topic, I want you to write a portfolio about it. It should be detailed but I won’t give you a number of words. Do what feels right and surprise me! Be creative, nothing will be worth a failing grade as long as you put in some effort.”
does split classrooms
one half is in the main room with him, the others are in breakout rooms, working on a certain topic
super chill and just not as hard as some other classes
but students definitely learn from him!
Kevin:
oh boy, students either gonna hate or love him
he is very kind and nice but he is STRICT
take his class serious and work or you will fail
although he has very high expectations, he will make sure students will be prepared for all the essays, assignments and presentations he throws at at them
no half-assed instructions, you will get the full program (as every student should!)
you have to write an argumentative essay but have no idea how to do that?
Professor Moon (students are allowed to call him Kevin) will explain an argumentativ essay in detail, will show examples and will tell you exactly what to put in it
having trouble finding sources?
Kevin will help you, just let him know!
Also a very empathetic teacher
something happened and you can’t attend class? Absolutely no problem
whenever something serious happens (for us it was a shooting), Kevin will cancel class and spare his students cause their well-being is more important
he doesn’t throw out A’s and B’s easily but when you do get such a grade in one of his classes... dude, you did a really good job
so as I said, he is either your fav or least fav professor... choose your side!
Chanhee:
he is a bitch (not really, but he gives the impression)
at first, he is that nice, bubbly professor
super friendly and kind
and his classes are absolutely okay! no biggie
or so they THOUGHT
his exams and progress tests or whatever ARE HELL
he makes it seem as everything is so easy and not overwhelming at all
BUT nothing is easy and everything is overwhelming
50 pages for a damn progress test two weeks into the semester!
the grading is so strict, you need at least 65% to pass! (maybe I am a baby but 65% is a lot for a passing grade hahaha)
but he confuses students
he is so kind and soft spoken
constantly smiling and in a good mood
but the exams????
are you sure you were the one creating them Mr Choi?
and yes, he is one of those professors that wants to be addressed by his last name (nothing wrong with that)
as I said, he confuses students
they don’t know what to think of him
at the end of the day he isn’t a bad guy
just not the type of professor the students would want in every single class for the rest of their lives
Changmin:
changmin is not your ordinary professor
because he is a big fan of team-teaching
so all his classes are taught by him and his dear colleague Haknyeon!
YAAAAY
I love this duo already
he is the part of the duo that is EXTREMELY motivated
he is is so hyper and so ready for teaching
his classes are always fun but also slightly overwhelming?
juts imagine having too much caffeine in your body
that is changmin being able to teach something he loves
that’s just the passion jumping out of him
he is constantly talking and laughing and throwing jokes left and right
he is having a good time!
super understanding and empathetic
and although everything seems fun and games
you will definitely learn from him!
he has this natural and authentic way of teaching in his body
it comes... naturally and it all makes sense somehow
although the class is packed with inside jokes and changmin teasing haknyeon
haknyeon doesn’t even have time nor the chance to speak
this is changmin’s time to shine!
they love and hate each other
but the students definitely love this iconic duo
Haknyeon:
as I mentioned; haknyeon and changmin are a team
it wasn’t really something haknyeon wanted but... how could you possibly say no to baby changmin? 🥺
so yes, changmin’s cute face got him into this situation
he doesn’t even have to prepare anything for class - his lovely colleague does the talking anyways
he usually lays back and relax
he frowns into the cam cause he tries to intimidate students
but they know he is a soft guy anyways
while changmin is talking, he is chatting to students in the chat
as I mentioned earlier, not everyone wants to unmute themselves and therefore posts in the chat
so he is having chats with students, often not even related to the topic
“Please excuse me, I will be absent for a few minutes - mommy duties” -student
“Don’t worry Miss! I know exactly what you mean... children.” -haknyeon
whenever he tries to get a word in, he has to talk VERY LOUDLY
he literally has to talk over changmin
but changmin doesn’t mind, he just smiles, nods and listens
changmin is super proud whenever haknyeon speaks
and haknyeon thinks that’s very sweet
but that thought passes as soon as changmin makes a joke about him
at the end of the day, they love each other at least to a certain extent and students adore them
Sunwoo:
he is not an ordinary professor either
class time? virtual meetings?
nope, not with sunwoo
again, in the classes the boyz teach, attendance is mandatory
mandatory? sunwoo has never heard of her
he doesn’t require students to attend meetings and homework is also something he does not expect from them
he uploads powerpoint-presentations with videos and audio of him explaining everything in the presentation
but the boy is clumsy
and he is not good with anything technical
so him dropping his glass and spilling his water all over his lap?
well, students will see this in the video
“... and it’s important to- YAAAAH OH NO....”
*awkward silence*
“I spilled my water... if you haven’t seen.”
*more awkward silence*
“Give me a minute”
*the video continues and sunwoo is nowhere in sight*
after ten minutes of an empty chair, sunwoo returns and continues as if nothing has happened
sometimes his kids walk in and dab in the camera without him noticing
“and then - Hey! I am at WORK.”
he loves it though
and he posts these “fail” videos on purpose
“I want to show you, that it is okay to not be perfect and to not be in control of everything! Stuff like that happens, especially with us being in home-office! And don’t worry, if your mom walks in or whatever, in my classroom no one gets judged! This is life and now that we have to do everything from home, the unexpected is unavoidable!”
Another students’ favorite
Eric:
I would love to imagine him as this savage prof I have in mind... but no <3
he is a sweet guy
also super obsessed with the class he is teaching
he is LIVING for it
usually experiences technical problems right before class starts
“oopsie daisy, sorry guys... might take a few minutes *giggles*”
and no, it’s not a creepy giggle but a really cute one, I swear!
constantly has a pen in his hand and clicks it absentmindedly while teaching
students constantly hear the clicking sound... or when the pen falls to the ground.... which happens every five minutes
he constantly forgets to mute himself whenever he wants students to work by themselves and all they hear is him chugging down his water or whatever drink he has prepared
also sends out super sweet emails
but due to him being a young dude, he wants students to call him by his last name
he also calls students by their last name but he does use smileys to lighten the professional mood that comes with honorifics
overall a very motivated but extremely kind-hearted dude

Stray Kids as Teachers!!
Bang Chan
Definitely the music teacher
Type of teacher that is super caring
Anyone can talk to him about anything
Offers life advice
Mostly good, sometimes joking
“Pay your taxes and don’t drink and drive.”
Finger guns
Tries to use young people slang
Fails even though he himself is super young
Keeps pictures of his dog on his desk at all times
“Mr.Bang, who’s that?” Points at picture of Barry
He then goes into Barry’s life story, slowly gaining an audience of other students
Every kid has a crush on him
It’s a rite of passage at this point
“Have you seen his ass?” “Duh, who hasn’t?”
Lee Know
The tired art teacher
Has sass battles with his students
Winner gets some candy
He almost always gets the candy
Plays movies once a week
Thinks everyone deserves to relax
Super chill with what students want to create
After all, art is personal
Not at all harsh with grading
Sneaks his cats into the school sometimes
Gets caught, claims they’re there to be models
Almost always has music playing
Students go to him when they need someone to vent to
Gives somewhat violent advice so.... Don’t take it
Everyone wonders when he’ll get with Mr.Han
There’s bets going
Even staff are in on it
Mr.Bang started the bets
Seo Changbin
Everyone’s favorite gym teacher
Specializes his class for students' needs
For example, the asthmatic doesn’t have to run laps, instead, they do some weight lifting
Stresses the importance of warmups and cool downs
Thursdays are pool days
Everyone worships Thursday, as shirtless Mr.Seo is quite the sight
Fridays are fun days
Students pick whatever they want to do that day
Even group nap time has been approved once or twice
He is the best spotter
Have you seen his arms?
Can be frequently found bothering Mr.Kim
Always wearing a tank top. Always
If students aren’t feeling well, he lets them take a nap in his office
Has a special cot with soft blankets and pillows he bought himself
Does not tolerate students making fun of their peers
Has the record for the most detentions given in one day
The class ganged up one on kid who wasn’t good at the sport, so they all got detention
The kid got a free soda of their choice
Hwang Hyunjin
Drama instructor
Specializes in helping students put emotion into their lines
Musicals are his favorite
He makes the Choreo himself
Kind of strict about it ngl
Still understanding somewhat
Just... Not as much as he could be
Basically a mom to his drama kids
Gets told all the tea
The Gretchen Weiners of the staff
He knows whats happening with literally every student
Has shown up hungover a few times, just lets the student directors take charge
Will fight for the theatre department to get more funding
Makes some of the costumes himself
Talented boi
Tries to modernize everything
“Listen, I know Hamilton takes place in the boring times, but Jefferson needs some shades.”
KING of improve
Actually an amazing actor
Blows everyone's minds
Like, yeah, he’s goofy and hot, and he LOVES spilling the tea, but holy shit can he do Shakespeare
Leaves the school at exactly 3:30 PM, unless there’s practice
Has stayed till 11:30 PM once
His students worship him, trust me
Han Jisung
The cheery Kindergarten teacher whos energy rivals the kids
His classroom is an explosion of color
Loves his kiddos
Is great at calming upset little ones
Works incredibly hard
Every other teacher thinks his classroom is a total mess
Blocks everywhere, paints on every table, and nap time mats still out
If you look closely, he does have a system
Only pink paint on this table
The mats are in a specific corner
The blocks are for the kids to make words whenever they understand how to spell something
Big fan of the reward system
Has had many kids call him Dad before
Parents love him so much
Their kids come home rambling about their teacher who taught them the alphabet and they can count to five now!
His kids are pretty much little geniuses
Gets sick so often since he works with little kids
Makes sure his sub is fun
Also make sure the sub isn’t as fun as him so the kids still like him best
Found in Mr.Lee’s art room… way too much
Lee Felix
The school’s therapist
His room is the definition of Happy Yet Zen
Light yellows, pinks, and blues fill the room
Basically a pillow fort
Has a scent diffuser and let’s the student pick the essential oil
Walks around school with a happy smile always
We know he’s Stay’s sunshine, but he’s now the students
Has a wall of cheesy jokes for students who just need something to make them laugh
Let’s students show him their special interests with no complaints
Gets into almost all of them himself, just to bond with the kids
If the kids just need somewhere to calm down, his room is almost always open
Need a twenty minute nap? He’ll put on some calming sounds and supply the pillows and blankets
The type of teacher who gives gifts to his senior students when they graduate
Always ready to show students music he thinks will help them
The other teachers love him because he brings baked goods once a week
Doesn’t care if students swear in front of him
Kim Seungmin
Middle school English teacher
Students are lowkey scared of him
But they still enjoy him alot
He frequently roasts students and other teachers alike
“Mr.Bang said he’s the best producer? Next person to have his class, tell him to check his ego.”
His favorite time is independent reading time
Mainly cause the kids know to be quite
Heaven forbid someone interrupt his reading
Every time they finish a book, the movie is played
It’s a nice break for everyone
It’s also a break for him
It’s tiring being that sassy all the time
Pretty strict grader when it comes to essays
Only because he goes over what to do super thoroughly and even a baby could do it truly
You think he wants to grade a 7 page paper? No
4 Pages maximum
Definitely has favorites
Tries his best not to show it
Everyone knows
Loves the quiet kids in the back who love reading
Reminds him of himself at that age
Ya know, a whole 5 years ago
Mr.Seo shows up in his classroom all the time, just to mess with him
The kids love it
Yang Jeongin
The other kindergarten teacher
The admins of the school put the quieter, more nervous kids into his room
Jeongin has a very gentle personality when it comes to kids
The shy ones tend to flock to him
His classroom closely resembles a herd of sheep
Just a bunch of baby sheep hiding behind protective mama sheep
Super calm, but someone messes with his kids?
He’ll fuck you up homie
While Mr.Han’s classroom is an explosion of bright colors, Mr.Yang’s is more pastels
Parents are amazed as their kids slowly open up
Seriously, sudden their super shy kiddo has like, five other super shy friends and won’t stop rambling about their cool teacher
Prefers a quieter way of teaching, unlike Jisung
Gentle nursery rhymes, soft blankets, no dance parties
Even though him and Mr.Han are polar opposites, they’re best friends
He calms the excitable teacher, and Han brings out his energy
It’s always funny watching the two classes interact
It’s like watching a sheep and fucking golden retriever interact
When the two classes go to gym?
Mr.Seo is in for a treat
One side of the class is screaming like madmen while running around, their teacher joining them
The other is calmly waiting for instructions on the line
Not that Mr.Han’s class is badly behaved, just… energetic
Mr.Yang just chills in the back of the gym, working on some lesson plans while his kids get their limited energy out
Nap times are the best
He sometimes joins in, but shhh, don’t tell the other teachers
Only Chris knows, and has a million photos of Mr.Yang napping at his desk while his students sleep soundly

9. Proposal
(Y/N) was busy the whole week with work-related stuff. It was Friday when she called that she wanted to work from home since her tablet isn't really working and that she needed to work on her own computer for the draft that she's doing. There is too much work and it doesn't help that her father is out to who knows where.
The landlady knocked on the door, asking for the rent payment that made her slap her forehead in annoyance. Why did she forget about that? "I'll give you two days, give me my money." the older claimed that made her sigh once the door closed. Where will she get that money? All her savings went to the Paris trip and her loans as well, so what can she do?
Paris, she thought. Maybe she can sell off the things that Yuta had given her, it might cost a fortune. She started getting her luggage and bringing out the shoes, dress, and bag that he bought her. With a loud sigh, she started gazing at it. Wore it once after being left on the floor so maybe she can still sell it at a reasonable price. Upon checking the bag, something fell that surprised her, a black card. Yuta's black card. Didn't she return it to him? Is he not looking for it?
The card is tempting her but this isn't right. She decided to stop seeing Yuta because of this reason but here she is, looking at the card as if enchanted by it. Maybe a small amount wouldn't really hurt the card? She just needed to pay for the rent and she can pay Yuta when she had enough money. Yes, maybe she can do that.
Instead of staying home as she promised Jungwoo, she went out to withdraw cash from the card. She was silently praying that her conscience wouldn't kill her after this. When the machine asked for a pin, she remembered 1026 and started typing it. A message confirmed that she can get 10000 from the card that surprised her. That easy?
Pulling the card out and the money, she was surprised to see her father looking at the black shiny object. "Appa," she called then decided to hide the card but he wrestled her into giving it to him. Her dad is a martial artist before so it is a fail attempt to hide the card. He slapped her cheek, causing her to fall to the ground letting go of the black card. He called for a cab before she can stand up and she cursed herself for not being careful and deciding to use the card in the first place.
She grew worried when her dad didn't go home that night. Although she had the cash to give the landlady for rent, she kept on holding it worried about something. Should she tell Yuta? But then, that would cause a lot of issues. He might really think that she's taking advantage of him which is the reason why she stayed away from him. Damn, what should she do now?
--
Yuta was standing in his office for a while now, overlooking the city of Seoul and hoping to see someone familiar. From what Jaehyun had told him, their publishing house isn't really near the area so why is he hoping? He missed her, her scent, her voice, her face. This was like Paris all over again. Why is he like this when other women were throwing themselves at him? Why is he so hung up with that one girl who obviously doesn't want him back? A knock on the door disturbed his thoughts as his secretary, Kim Doyoung opened the door. "The HR wanted these signed," he claimed, placing the folder on his desk. He loudly sighed before complying, signing the piece of paper without even reading on it.
The younger was bothered at the sudden attitude. Normally, Yuta would be very careful about everything. Checking the documents first and handing them to him for revisions before signing them. "Are you alright?" he asked that made the older nod, sighing. "You look sick, should I call your doctor?"
Yuta just shook his head, looking at his secretary for a year. Doyoung had always been his trusting friend and when he was handed the company, he can't find anyone to be his secretary other than Doyoung who was studying music at that time. He hated that he took a dream away from him but the younger agreed to be his secretary because of his connections to the media. Now, Doyoung knows more from his life than his friends. "I think I have withdrawal symptoms," he claimed that made the other laugh. "From what? You don't smoke and you rarely drink," he claimed then stopped. "Are you taking drugs?" But he just shook his head, claiming that it is worse than drugs. "A girl, perhaps?" he asked that made the CEO lightly glance at his secretary. "I didn't know you had it in you, Yuta but I hope you can see your girl soon and end this depression." The older smirk and in a silent voice whispered, 'I hope so too'.
--
Yuta was in a meeting with Chinese investors when his phone buzzed, signaling a message. It was the end of an hour-long argument with men in their late forties about the needed technologies in the company when he checked where it was, surprised that it was from a bank. Apparently, someone had withdrawn a hundred thousand dollars from his account and since it's too big of an amount, the bank decided to inform him. Obviously, he was surprised. He remembered that card number, the lost black card in Paris. Someone from Korea has it? Then it clicked. (Y/N). They were together that night when he thought he lost it so maybe she is using it. But a hundred thousand dollars? What is that girl up to? But maybe this is his chance to see her again even if it is a weird circumstance.
(Y/N) was busy for work, editing Ten's illustration for the deadline tomorrow when she received a call from an unknown number. "Is this (Y/N)?" the man asked that made her say yes on the other line. "Can you please come to the police station for questioning?" he asked that made her nervous. This is it. The thing she's scared of. But it took days for her dad to do something.
Johnny was worried when she asked her editor in chief to leave early but she assured that it's just a personal matter. Instead of taking a cab to the station, she took the bus which is way cheaper even if it meant an hour walk. She was breathing heavily when she reached the station, surprised that her dad is in front of someone and kneeling. Upon closer inspection, she saw the man as Yuta. Of course, this is about his card. "Are you, Ms. (Y/N)?" the officer asked that made the others look at her. "I got the card from her, she was the one who stole it." her dad claimed that made her surprised. Why is he like this in front of strangers? "Don't put me to jail, lock her instead."
Yuta stared at the girl in pity. Why is her father like this? Just to save himself? "Appa..." she whispered with a shaky voice. "Ever since you came to my life, everything fell apart. Your mom left, I didn't have a proper job. And all you ever thought about was to go to that stupid country." he claimed then stood up, holding both her arm in anger. (Y/N) had no other choice but to cry at the pain, his hold on her, and the words coming out from his mouth. "You are so selfish; I shouldn't have let you live when I had the chance." His fist was high in the air, ready to aim at her but Yuta had blocked it with his arm. "I don't think violence can resolve something." the younger claimed. Already seeing black, the older guy started punching Yuta in the face for intruding a family matter that made the police separate them.
"Sir, you are at fault here." the officer claimed at the older guy then glanced at his daughter. "You can press charges against your dad for hurting you or we'll let him out since Mr. Nakamoto isn't pressing charges." The sentence made (Y/N) look at Yuta. He stole from him; they stole from him so why isn't he pressing for charges? "Mr. Nakamoto, you also can make a report since he hurt you." And that was the last thing in (Y/N)'s mind.
Yuta was looking at the girl who was frozen on her spot, watching her dad getting handcuffed by the police. It actually broke his heart seeing her this hurt and just wanted to take away everything from her and give her all the happiness. "No. It's fine." Yuta claimed that surprised the girl, relief seen in her eyes. And he wished to see her like this always.
Her dad was sent for a night in prison since he offended an officer and (Y/N) found herself alone at the bus stop. Now that she heard what her dad truly feels about her, where would she go? It's only natural to leave him and run away. But where can she go? A familiar black car stopped in front of her and the windows were lowered down from the passenger seat. "It's late. The bus won't come anymore." And she sighed, that is probably why she was waiting for it and it didn't come. Just like a miracle in her life. "I'll drive you home."
"But I don't want to go home," she mumbled unconsciously that made the guy turn off the engine of his car. Yuta went out of his car and sat beside the girl who was just looking at her curiosity. "It felt weird seeing you like this." he started and she just nodded, unable to form a coherent answer. "Do you have any place that you want to go?" he asked and she smiled, muttering Paris. "It was a dream while in Paris," she claimed and he nodded. It was simple, Yuta thought, she just needed to say it and he'll book a flight to Paris with her. "I have to thank you for that. And for keeping my dad out of jail," she said quietly while staring at her shoes. "About the money, I'll just pay you back..."
"No. Don't," he said that made her look at him in surprise. "That's a small amount, (Y/N)." But she just laughed bitterly. “Just mention a word and I’ll bring you to Paris again. We can run away from your dad. I’ll be responsible for you.”
"You just don't get it, do you?" And Yuta had the most curious expression on his face. What's there to get? “Please, don’t pity me Yuta.”
He hissed at that. How stubborn. “Do you want me to adopt you?”
The girl chuckled at that. That was the most ridiculous idea she ever heard. What is she a child? Is this some kind of a daddy kink on Yuta’s part? Well, she remembered how wild he became when she called her daddy. Maybe, it is. “Oh. I get it now,” she claimed. “Yuta you can’t just pay me because we had sex. I’m not that kind of girl.”
Yuta was agitated, how dare she think that he's just after her body when she's taking over his mind like this? But then these things happened because of his mistake on the plane. If he would just think carefully and not ask her to follow him at that time, they may be on the right foot now. Then maybe she can come with him to his apartment and... Fuck, he really did want her body. Feeling guilty, he swerved the car back to the bus stop surprised to see no sign of the girl. Where could she be? And this late? With no choice, he headed to her place, the house he dropped her off from before. The lights were out, is she asleep yet? Is she not home? Damn, why doesn't he have her number? Maybe Jaehyun could help.
To Yuta's dismay, his friend is too intoxicated for him to answer with coherence. All he understood was that she doesn't have a phone. Who the hell wouldn't have a phone this year? But then, glancing at his surroundings maybe having a phone is a luxury for her like the plane ticket to Paris. She doesn't deserve any of it actually. Jaehyun would always tell him things about her, going to work on time, and even leaving the last from the office. Since she's the newest employee, her co-workers depend on her in editing and even the smallest things like coffee. Then, there's her dad who obviously hates her. Now, he made it a point to make her his own Cinderella whether she likes it or not.

☆ flanked ☆ prologue | knj
(verb) flank -
guard or strengthen (a military force or position) from the side.
attack down or from the sides, or rake with gunfire from the sides.
☆ pairing: soldier!namjoon x widow!reader; namjoon x fem!reader ☆ word count: 2K ☆ summary: you’re a recently widowed military spouse who is stationed at camp walker, south korea. you’re dealing with the tragedy of your husband’s recent death, and in the process, you accidentally meet a k-pop idol you’ve had a crush on for years. who knew you’d both be at the same post while he’s doing his compulsory service? who knew he’d be so damn nice? who knew it would be impossible to get him out of your head? ☆ warnings: mentions of death, public embarrassment, military death, adult language ☆ a/n: hey everyone c:i’m really happy to be reuploading this fic; i’m going to set a goal of updating it once a month. this is my baby, and i want to do it right, so if it doesn’t come as predictably as i want it to, apologies in advance, but i really hope you enjoy what i have!
this fic starts of intense and will only get more intense. i very much recommend double checking the warnings list because there’s gonna be some pretty heavy stuff in the prologue here and going forward. please do keep in mind that this is purely fiction and i do not want (most of) this to actually happen to anyone. it won’t all be sad though, promise! i mean it’s namjoon we’re talking about: the biggest goofball on the planet. there will be eventual smut, but we have to build up to it, now don’t we? thanks luv, enjoy!
Here you are, in the quaint little convenience store and dry cleaning shop right outside of post, on just another cloudy Winter Wednesday. However, today is a little different, because you have made it to the front of the line and have begun violently crying. Not one of those shedding a single tear cries, but a terrible cry that has taken hold of your entire body. A shaking, snot-faucet, fist-clenching cry. Nothing truly lamentable has happened, except for an inability to recall the Korean word for receipt. You’ve lived at Camp Walker for just shy of two years, so it’s safe to say your ineffectiveness in vocalizing your needs isn’t for lack of knowledge. Despite your quickly-grasped and quite thorough knowledge of the language, the overwhelming sadness and anger you possess about your situation somehow has evaporated away all your Hangul proficiency. Which has left you looking utterly incompetent. Of course a breakdown is in order. All you needed to do was pick up your dead husband’s dress blues for fucks sake, but you can’t remember how to speak and now you’re embarrassing yourself and wasting this poor lady’s time and why does this have to be so goddamn difficult.
The people behind you in line are now beginning to stare in a strange mix of confusion, concern, irritation, and apprehension. Perfect. You exit the line and begin sputtering out desperate attempts at the lost word, so entirely wrapped up in your own stupid brain that you fail to register the approach of a tall man in an American style ACU. A deep and calm voice eases out of the truly tree-sized man in front of you.
“Ma’am, do you need some help?” he asks.
Your vision is tear-ruined and the last thing you want is pity. Pity is exhausting.
“Oh, you’re gonna help the poor little sad girl, huh?” you spit out at him, not even bothering to look up, “just tell me the fucking word for receipt please. That’s all I need.”
Despite your downright rudeness, the man replies without hesitation. “Yeongsujeung. Are you sure that’s all I can help you with?” You look over towards the counter to see that the lady has begun helping other customers, and you really aren’t looking forward to waiting in line again. No pity, you remind yourself, so you shake your head at the man and meekly muster out a “gamsahabnida” as you stare at the floor, too embarrassed at your lack of composure to make eye contact with your new acquaintance.
He just sighs and says, “Ma’am, would you mind if I stood in line for you? It might feel good if you sat down for a minute. I promise it’s not a hassle. I’m here to get my dry cleaning too.”
Jesus Christ, what is this guy? Some kind of mind reader? Who is that observant? Or are you just that obvious? You really, really don’t want more help. That’s all people have been trying to do for the past week. Coming by your house with food, offering to walk your dog, so many informational pamphlets about therapy, every person saying that they can be a listening ear if you need it. But you don’t. You just want to be left alone already. Nothing anyone has said has been comforting, because they don’t actually know what it’s like. They just don’t get it. And it’s nice that they want to help and are actually trying, but fuck. It mostly just makes things worse. But your head hurts from the exertion of crying, and that’s all it takes to convince you that you might actually want to sit down.
You wipe your eyes and finally feel like you’re allowed to really breathe again. You look up at the kind man to thank him once more, this time more sincerely, and in that instant, you’re sure you’ve gone insane. That’s got to be it. The death of your husband has thrown you completely off your rocker. That’s the only explanation for what stands before you. You’ve finally had a full psychotic break and are currently hallucinating in the corner store. You’d honestly burst out laughing if your throat wasn’t raw, because standing in front of you is a man who looks remarkably like Kim Namjoon.
You haven’t thought about this man in years, and his dark shorter haircut instead of his usual longer locks is probably the most confusing matter about the whole thing, oddly enough. You recall in your mind the photocard you have of him from when you bought one of their albums several years ago. The luscious long blonde hair in the photo is shockingly different to the style that he’s sporting now. If it weren’t for his signature dimple greeting you alongside his small sincere grin, you’d almost have never recognized him.
Oh my god. And now you’re standing in front of him, and he’s standing in front of you, and he’s so much taller than you thought he would be, and you’re having a meltdown in a cornerstore, and he’s so much more handsome in person, and now you’re staring into each other's eyes and this can’t be happening.
It can’t really be him. You’ve just gone completely mental. You know the leader of BTS began his compulsory military service about a year and a half ago, but the chances of you crossing paths is still nearly impossible. You begin to tell yourself that he’s just a doppelgänger and your recent distress and suffering has made your brain desperate for serotonin. It can’t really be him. You’re just crazy now. That would be easier to deal with, at least.
You half don’t believe it’s him and half don’t want to believe it’s him. If it is him, you sure as hell don’t want to make the interaction any more weird than it’s already been. If it’s not him, you’d only be embarrassing yourself further. The best, and really, only course of action to take at this point, because you absolutely do not trust your words, is just to nod your head and avert your gaze as you walk to the little bench by the door. You try to focus your thoughts on literally anything other than your brain’s manifestation of a pop star. It almost doesn’t happen, but as peace comes, you mentally thank yourself for your long-time practice of mindfulness. It would have been an impossible task had you never done this before. By the time he gets to the front, you’ve successfully managed to calm down and focus on your breathing. You’ve got yourself convinced the man simply looks similar to Namjoon, and that’s it. Nothing to get worked up about.
As you rejoin the man, he greets you with another warm grin and gestures to the counter. Shit. Are you ready to talk again? He’s insisting you go first, and you notice the little dimple poke out again. His lips are so… pillowy. Oh god, are you staring? You shake loose of his grasp on you and in practically perfect Korean, apologize to the lady for before, tell her the last name and details on the order, and tell her you’re sorry about misplacing the receipt from drop off with the order number on it because it’s... been a really long week. She nods, seeming relieved you didn’t burst into tears again and goes in the back to search for your items.
The tall serviceman next to you now speaks to you in Korean. “That was impressive. You’ve been here for a long time?”
“Only two years.”
“Well I suppose you really didn’t need my help then,” he says and chuckles a little. “I’m glad to see sitting down was able to help you relax.”
The lady hands over the dry cleaning and you thank her. As you pay, tears begin to swell in your eyes again. You’re holding the things your husband will be buried in. You can’t stop yourself from picturing it all… the funeral, his cold body, whether you’ll have to hold a closed casket ceremony, his poor mom, how long the receiving line is going to be, whether he would want flowers or not, wondering if you’ll be able to put his little award stripes on his suit jacket in the right order or if you’re going to have to get help… again.
Being so wrapped up in your thoughts, you don’t notice your new acquaintance giving the lady his ticket. He turns to you after she’s walked in the back.
“Lucky husband, getting his dress uniform picked up for him. You really know how to spoil a man, huh?” The seemingly innocent comment shoots fire through your veins. The woman returns with his dry cleaning and they go through payment as you let the anger boil inside of you. He is oblivious to the metaphorical bombs going off inside your body. You stare a hole into the man’s head as you spit out “My husband is fucking dead.”
You turn to leave and don’t look back, not giving him a chance to process your revelation. He makes the connection a moment too late, but he’s quick to catch up with you in the parking lot, this time speaking English. “Ma’am please let me apologize. I didn’t realize...”
You continue walking to your car; you don’t want to look at him again. “I don’t need an apology from you. It doesn’t matter.”
“Please, I had no idea. I was trying to make small talk; I never would have said that-“
You whir around and glare at him. You were done. “I get it, okay? Just stop feeling sorry for me already. I’m tired of it. Thank you for waiting in line for me. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a fucking funeral to plan.” The words come flying out and with each new sentence, you see him recoil again and again. His eyes are full of remorse and... understanding? You hold his gaze longer than you wanted to, and time stands still. What are you doing?
You’re fumbling with your keys, trying to manage the electronic key fob to unlock your car. He takes this opportunity to scribble some words and numbers on a paper he has clumsily fished out of one of his many uniform pockets and extends it out to you. Is he really trying to give you his number right now?! You’d be really flattered that a man this attractive is making a pass at you, if you hadn’t, you know, just told him your husband fucking died. You furrow your brows and roll your eyes, ready to chew him out again.
“Here, this is the name and address for a group therapy session on post for people who have gone through recent loss. We meet on Thursdays. I don’t know how much longer you’ll be in Korea, but you’d be welcome. I promise.”
You just stare at him dumbly, unable to process this information. Therapy? You’d been given so many pamphlets on loss that it made your head spin. The only thing that thoughts of therapy has done for you in the past week has brought up terrible associations.
“Please. Take it.”
His eyes are pleading. You can’t bear to see the desperation any longer. Breaking away from his heavy gaze, you take the scrap of paper. With one last thank you, you get in your sedan, throw the dry cleaning into the passenger seat, and lock the doors.
With your head in your hands, you start to cry again. Why do you have to be so mean? Thinking of the man, you turn to look in the rear-view mirror with a gentle hope that he’s still behind your car. You don’t know why you’re disappointed when he isn’t.
Thursday is tomorrow. You can make it until then.

104. Teacher Professor AU
tw: yoonmintae, cursing, meddling tae
It seems like the department is buzzing with excitement for one reason or another when you show up for work on Monday morning. You’re not too curious to find out the reason. Last time it was because of free donuts being in the lounge, although they were good, that was as much excitement as your department had.
Your heels click as you walk down the hallway of the third floor, a floor decorated solely for the offices of the professors. As you round the corner, your coffee in hand, you notice the office across from yours is no longer empty, but its new occupant is nowhere in sight and neither is his name plate. You shrug, wanting to get to your office as quickly as possible to avoid any unneeded human interaction before you’ve downed your large cup of coffee. As it seems, luck isn’t on your side as Professor Kim leans against his doorway beside yours.
“Such a lovely morning, don’t you think?” Taehyung smiles brightly and you scowl.
“Sure, Tae.” You grumble as you walk past him and into your office. You hang your purse on the coat rack behind your desk and set your coffee down before going to shut your door, but Taehyung is already walking into your office, door shutting behind him as he sits in the empty chair in front of your large desk.
“Did you hear everyone gossiping about the new professor? Apparently he’s gorgeous or something,” Taehyung shrugs as he kicks his feet up on your desk. You glare at him, smacking his shoes until he sets them on the floor.
“No, I haven’t heard a word nor do I care to. Don’t you have students to fail or something?” You ask with a raised brow as you take a long drink of your coffee. A soft moan escapes you, your hands clutching your cup tightly.
“Keep moaning like that and the rumors will be about us,” Taehyung wiggles his eyebrows and you flip him off.
“Nobody would believe that, Tae. I’m too good for you.”
“Ouch, babe,” Taehyung pretends to be wounded, clutching his hand over his chest, a pout on his lips.
“Those were your words, not mine,” you point out with a smirk.
“True though, you are way out of my league,” Taehyung chuckles and you flip him off again.
“You’re so fucking annoying. How are you this chipper so early in the morning?” You grumble as you turn your computer on.
“Two words; morning sex,” Taehyung licks his lips.
“Jimin or Yoongi?” You ask as you login to your computer. Waiting for it to load up before you can actually get to work.
“Both,” Taehyung smirks. You look up from your computer to look at him, “nice.”
“It was. Ugh, I didn’t want to come into work today. I’d rather be in bed with them,” Taehyung frowns, shaking his head before he gets up from his seat. “Anyway, if you see Professor Hottie, let me know. I’ve got a class stating in two minutes across campus and I don’t wanna be early.”
“Go! You’re awful!”
“Still the highest rated professor on campus,” Taehyung winks before he walks out of your office, shutting the door after him. Your best friend was something else.
*
You’ve taught two classes before you’re back in your office, your door wide open as you wait for any students to pop in during your office hours. You’re already texting Taehyung to find out where he wants to eat for lunch before your afternoon classes begin.
Movement catches your attention and you look up to see ‘Professor Hottie’ returning to his office. In your rush to get to your own office, you had neglected to check his name plate.
From what you could tell, he was hot, and you were only looking at his back, which was very muscular in his white button-down shirt. His black slack hugged his waist, his black leather belt accentuating it further, and his thick thighs strained against the material. You licked your lips when you saw the fullness and roundness of his ass before your eyes trailed back up, noticing the long waves of his black hair.
“Dear god,” you mutter to yourself, your teeth sinking into your bottom lip. You hadn’t even seen his face yet and your thighs were already pressed together.
“Oh! Hey, you’re the new professor! I’m Kim Taehyung!” you hear your best friend introduce himself, standing in front of your open doorway, a bright smile on his handsome face. You don’t miss the way he freely checks out the man, licking his lips and quirking his head.
“Hello, I’m Jeon Jungkook. Nice to meet you,” he says, a light blush coating the apples of his cheeks.
“Have you met my friend?” Taehyung asks, looking in your direction, and you curse as you rise from your seat to stand at your doorway. Taehyung introduces you to Jungkook, a grin on his face the entire time, ignoring the what of the pointed glare you’re giving him.
Jungkook repeats your name, staring at you with furrowed brows, “have we met before?”
You’re at a loss for words, he truly is gorgeous like Taehyung had said and his beauty makes your brain go haywire.
“I-I don’t think so,” you stutter, unable to hold eye contact for longer than a few seconds. “I’d have remembered you.”
Taehyung laughs, “bold.”
You feel flustered, turning on your heel and leaving both men out in the hallway. Taehyung easily continues his conversation with Jungkook, going as far as inviting him to lunch with the both of you in an hour or so.
An hour later, Taehyung is popping his head into your office, “ready?”
“Yeah,” you answer as you grab your purse off the coat rack. You leave your office, shutting and locking the door after you as Jungkook does the same. He smiles at you in a friendly manner and you wish you could think of something to say, but instead, you allow Taehyung to lead the conversation as you walk beside him, with Jungkook on his left.
You’re thankful the lunch rush has passed by the time you arrive at the food court, immediately getting in line to grab a slice of pizza and a drink. Taehyung and Jungkook follow after you and Taehyung pays for all of your lunches.
Jungkook tries to protest but Taehyung waves him off, “it’s not a big deal.”
“Trust me, you’re better off arguing with a wall than him. He’s stubborn as hell.” Taehyung nods in agreement and Jungkook nods, thanking Taehyung once again as the three of you sit at a table, away from all the students and the commotion going on in the cafeteria.
“So, what brings you to our lovely university?” Taehyung asks Jungkook after taking a rather large bite of his pizza.
Jungkook looks at you, smiling before turning to taehyung to answer his question, “I lived here when I was younger but my family moved away once I was in sixth grade. I had a best friend, but I lost contact with her shortly after. I was hoping she still lived here.”
“That’s so romantic,” Taehyung gushes, heart in his eyes. “Did you love her?”
Jungkook blushes, smiling sheepishly, “it was so long ago. I had a crush on her then, but I mean that was over a decade ago. We were best friends for most of our lives. I just wanted to see her again.”
“What was her name?” Taehyung asks. You’re curious about Jungkook’s story, eating as Taehyung prompts him for answers.
Jungkook answers Taehyung, and you freeze.
Taehyung looks at you for 2 seconds before he’s bursting into laughter. Jungkook furrows his brows, confused as to why Taehyung is laughing at him. What had he said?
“Oh, this is gold! You weren’t able to find her on social media, right?” Taehyung directs the question at Jungkook, who shakes his head.
You sigh, finally looking at Jungkook, “it’s because I changed my last name after my dad left. I go by my mother’s last name instead.”
Jungkook’s eyes widen, blinking owlishly as he takes a moment for this new information to sink in. You were his childhood best friend? He’d met you on his first day at his new job? That easily? He couldn’t believe his luck!
Jungkook says your name softly, repeating it a few times. Taehyung sips his drink, slurping the last few droplets, but not wanting to leave the table for a refill and miss any of these revelations.
“Are you okay, Kook?” you ask, memories hitting you hard. You remember when he’d first moved in next door, a shy little boy afraid of starting a new school. You’d immediately befriended him, glad he was in your same class throughout elementary and eventually into middle school. Until he moved, that is.
“Yeah,” Jungkook breathes, his heart racing in his chest. “I just didn’t think I’d find you so fast. I mean, it’s my first day here. I dodn’t even think you’d still live here, much less teach here. I’ve been looking for you for ages, you were my best friend and we moved so suddenly, I never got to say goodbye.”
You notice the frown on his face, your hand reaching out to place over his. Jungkook doesn’t seem phased, instead he caresses your hand with his thumb.
“This is amazing!” Taehyung exclaims, clasping his hands together as he pushes his chair away, grabbing his empty cup. “I need more soda, but don’t kiss until I get back!”
You roll your eyes, releasing Jungkook’s hand (much to his disappointment), “ignore him. You’ll get used to it.”
Jungkook chuckles, “I will. I’m just glad to see you again.”
*
A few months pass quickly, and you’re happy to announce that Jungkook is just as you remember him, except he’s not as shy as he once was. He’s still sweet, funny, charming and an all-around good friend... well, except when he tries to drag you to the gym at 5am before work. He can choke.
Taehyung has easily become one of Jungkook’s close friends, and you love that the three of you can hang out often, whether at work or in your homes. All your friends and his find your story endearing, deeming it as fate bringing the two of you back together.
You’re not sure whether it’s fate or not, but you do know you’re slowly starting to fall for your best friend once again, just like you had all those years ago. Only this time, there’s more at risk to lose.
Taehyung has stood on the sidelines, watching the two of you fumble around each other. It didn’t take him long to figure out the two of you had a thing for each other, old feelings coming to surface after reconnecting. However, you’d deny it every time he’d bring it up and although he knew he shouldn’t meddle, he felt it was his responsibility to do so when both of his friends’ happiness depended on it. It didn’t take long for a plan to manifest, and one day he set it in motion.
*
You were running late to lunch one day, your class having gone over its allowed time slot. You crossed campus as quick as possible, ignoring your growling stomach as you tore through the students to get into your building and up to your office.
Taehyung had texted you, assuring you that he and Jungkook would wait for you in his office before going to lunch. He’d told you to take your time, no rush.
Taehyung sat in his office, grinning madly when he heard the familiar click of your heels as you came down the hall. He could pinpoint your location with each click as he sat in his chair. Jungkook sat on the corner of Tae’s desk as he talked about his plans for the weekend, and when the clicking of your heels grew close, Taehyung sat up straight.
“There’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you, Jeon,” Taehyung started. Jungkook raised a brow at his friend, “what is it?”
“I’m only doing this as a best friend. I don’t want her to get hurt. How do you feel about her?” Taehyung asks.
“Her?” Jungkook asks, saying your name. Taehyung nods in confirmation.
“She’s my friend.” Jungkook answers, hesitating. He licks his lips, his face flushing with heat.
Taehyung shakes his head, “you’re in love with her.”
Jungkook bites his lip. He knew there was no point in lying to the human lie detector, so with a sigh he answers, “I am. I couldn’t stop thinking of her after I moved. I always hoped I’d meet her again, somehow. She’s my first love and we’re friends now, and I cherish our friendship so much, but I love her. I do, so much that it drives me insane being near her and not being able to hold her, to kiss her, to tell her I love her.”
Taehyung smirks, making eye contact with you as you stand in his doorway. That’s all he needed to hear.
“Jungkook?” your voice startles Jungkook. Looking at you and then Taehyung, panic clear in his eyes.
“How much of that did you hear?” Jungkook stands, his face red as he looks at his shoes.
“Enough to tell you I fell the same,” you answer shyly. Jungkook looks at you, warmth spreading throughout his chest as he walks over to you, his hands cupping your face.
“You want to tell me about it?”
You nod, your eyes locked on his. Your heart skips a beat as Jungkook’s thumbs rub your cheeks, his lips a hairbreadth away.
There’s nothing else said as his lips capture yours in a gentle kiss that grows deeper soon after. Jungkook holds you close, promising himself to never let you go again.

You’re Beautiful | a KHSxJJH Fanfiction
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JU JI HOON!!! 🥳
Note: Here's the 2nd part of JJH's point of view. If you haven't read the 1st part, here's the link 😊 https://baby-hyena.tumblr.com/post/616744455208353792/tenerife-sea-khsxjjh-fanfic
Song used: You're Beautiful cover by Ju Ji Hoon
~
My life is brilliant
Ji Hoon couldn't sleep that night. He's been rolling over his bed to find a comfy position but he still couldn't sleep. The filming finished late. He decided to workout a bit. He thought that maybe exhausting himself will put him to sleep. But he's still wide awake. When he lay down on his bed to try to sleep again, a small voice speaks at the back of his mind. Go to her, he blinks at that thought. He reaches for his phone to check the time and it's midnight. He sends her a text asking if she's still awake. But 10 minutes later, he got no response. He gets up and decided to go to her house.
My life is brilliant
When he arrived at her house, the lights were off. She's asleep, he thought. He was hesitant to go inside. It's not the first time though, it's just that he still fears that she might not want him to be there. He shook his head and exhaled, then he went inside. Good thing he knows her passcode. When she gave him that, he was over the moon. He knows it's such a small thing but it made him so happy. It made him so happy because that means she trusts him and it was enough to make all of his hesitations disappeared.
My love is pure
He took off his shoes and went straight to the couch. Strangely, he suddenly felt exhausted. But before he lies down, her book shelf caught his eyes. He went near it and there he saw her pictures. She has kept her favorite photos from her different photoshoots. He smiled when he saw the different sides of her. He saw her versatility in acting, but he was amazed that she can do the same in her photoshoots. She's truly an icon, he thought. One photo caught his attention. He didn't recognize her because she's wearing sunglasses and has really long hair. But he recognized the place. It was that place.
I saw an angel
It was August 2013 when he went to Segovia, Spain. He wanted to see the world, to wander, to explore. He wanted to experience different cultures. Besides, he's been working for his two upcoming movies that year. So he took a break for a month to travel. He was enjoying the view and taking pictures when he heard something familiar, "Okay, that's a good pose. Keep it up." It was spoken in Hangul. He looked around to find the voice. There he saw a photographer, taking pictures of a beautiful woman. He was stunned.
Of that I'm sure
She has long hair, a body to die for, long legs and everything that made Ji Hoon swallowed. The way she poses makes him hold his breath. He's been modelling for a long time but he's never seen a model as beautiful as her. He couldn't help but to steal a picture of her using his camera. He went near the site, enough to see her face but also enough to hide if ever he gets caught. When the photographer shouts, "Cut! Let's have a break." Ji Hoon got the chance to see her face when she took off her sunglasses. His heart skipped a beat when their eyes met.
She smiled at me on the subway
The woman smiled at Ji Hoon and his world stopped. He smiled back at her, shyly and awkwardly as he turns his back to leave. That day and that trip became memorable to him. And when he came back to Seoul, he gets to know who the woman was when the news article came out. It was the actress Kim Hye Soo. She was on a photoshoot that day in Spain for Cosmopolitan. Knowing this, he bought the magazine and watched her drama Queen of the Office. This was when he started admiring her because he noticed how good she is as an actress. He watched every movie and drama she's in and he became her fanboy.
She was with another man
Ji Hoon worked hard on his career. He wanted to start again after being in a controversy. But more than this, at the back of his head, he wanted to be that good of an actor so when he'll be given the opportunity to act with Kim Hyesoo, he'd never fail. And he never did. He was always jealous of the actors that gets to act with her. He'd always wish that one project with her would land onto his hands and he'll never waste that chance. That's why when he got Hyena; he didn't decline, even when he also had events for Kingdom 2, even when he didn't get any rest. It's because he didn't want to miss this chance. With her.
But I won't lose no sleep on that
Whenever Hyesoo compliments him for his acting, it feels like an achievement. It's not the awards and nominations that made him feel successful, it was her. He feels like his years of acting finally pays off just because he was finally recognized by his idol. He was inspired by her, in every set, in every scene, he gave his all. And now he's finally here, this close to her. Who would've thought that he'll ever get this lucky? He yawned then smiled. He'll finally get some sleep that night.
'Cause I've got a plan
Ji Hoon is having a bad dream. He's dreaming of Hyesoo pushing him away, cutting him off from her life. When he wakes up, he found her beside him looking for something under the couch. His heart was relieved when he saw her. "What are you doing?" He asks her. She looks at him while showing him what she's holding, "Oh, I dropped my airpods." Ji Hoon stares at her and thinks; I'd like to wake up to this face for the rest of my life. He'd notice her feeling conscious because of his stare. He'd smile. "Why are you staring?" She'd ask him. He'll smile at her with his dreamy eyes. I don't mind staring at you all my life, a voice in his mind speaks but he utters, "Nothing."
You're beautiful, you're beautiful
They say, the right one will not make you nervous or shake you on your knees. When you found the right one, you'll feel calm and comfortable. That's what Ji Hoon feels as they eat breakfast together. He's calm and comfortable. Yes, he can feel his heart pounding because of happiness; because he's with her. But he's never felt this calm before, as if he has everything he needs; as if everything in his life was already fulfilled. And in that moment he knew, the feeling of being home; of being with the love of his life. I hope this lasts, his heart whispers.
You're beautiful, it's true
Ji Hoon knows how much Hyesoo loves taking pictures. It's one of the things he learned about her. He saw her gigantic lenses in her house. And because he also loves being in front of cameras, he'd always pose for her. Or perhaps, he just loves catching her attention. "Let me see." He says to her after she took a photo of him. "Here." She shows him a picture she already edited with her mischievous smile. He'd frown then pout, "I wanna see my face." Then they'll run and play around the set like two little kids teasing each other. Ji Hoon has never been so happy.
I saw your face in a crowded place and I don't know what to do
Days passed and Ji Hoon slowly notices her cold feet. She won't let him drive her home anymore. He noticed how she makes up excuses so he won't be able to drive her home. Whenever he texts her to bring her food, she'll always say she's not in her house or that she already ate and stops him from coming. He'd let her, thinking he should give her time. But he's starting to be afraid. Did I make a mistake? Did I make her feel uncomfortable? Am I annoying her too much?, all of these thoughts are keeping him awake in that 2 days of not being with Hyesoo. But this question almost broke his heart; What if she doesn't feel the same way?
'Cause I'll never be with you
After that 2 days, another day came and they finished filming early. Ji Hoon sensed that Hyesoo's going home already so he went to her. Please, let me drive you home today, please let me be with you today, his heart has been wishing that all throughout their filming. He's crossing his fingers behind his back as he asks her to let him drive her home. When he knew he's about to get rejected again, he cuts her off, "Please, pleaase? I won't talk, I promise. Just let me be with you today. Please." He's that desperate, thinking that she probably don't want a talkative person. Maybe she's fed up with me, he thought. That thought hurts, but when he heard Hyesoo says, "Okay, just for today." his heart jumped and he couldn't hide his smile.
Yes, she caught my eye, as we walked on by
Ji Hoon would steal glances over Hyesoo all throughout the drive. He's not talking, just like he promised. He'd sigh, he didn't know he'd miss her in those 2 days. When they arrived at her house, he wanted to ask her if he can stay, but he stopped himself. Instead he just smiled at her and said, "Nothing, go inside. It's cold." He doesn't know if his desperation to be with her shows but that's what he feels. Hell, he's willing to risk everything. Just to be with you, his heart speaks. He watched her go inside her house as he feels his heart breaks little by little.
She could see from my face that I was flying high
Ji Hoon leans on his car and crosses his arms to keep his hands warm. He just stood there outside her house. He's thinking of how to tell her how he feels. He plans to tell her after Hyena ends. He knows if he tells her now, it could affect their work. He smiles at his thoughts. He recalled his first confession, he was in middle school. He was so nervous but his friends were supportive and they helped him. Too bad he got rejected. After that, he focused in his studies then his modelling career. And when he started acting, that's when he became famous among women. He didn't have problems confessing then since it’s the other way around.
And I don’t think that I’ll see her again
Ji Hoon never thought he had to confess again after a very long time. He never thought he'd meet someone who'd make him fall head over heels. He smiles at that thought. He once said he's scared of marriage because it never turns out well. So he promised himself, he'll never get married for convenience, unless it's true love. Unless it's true love, he whispers as he looks at Hye Soo's house. He shivers when the wind blows.
But we shared a moment that will last ‘til the end
He knew he found the one. He knows his heart so well; he's never felt this way. His train of thoughts stopped when he couldn't take the cold any longer. So he opens his car's compartment for some hot packs. He gets three packs, but he thought he'll stay there for a while so he gets it all. He inserted it in his coat, and he closes the buttons so it won't fall out. Then he puts his hands in his pockets. He leans on his car again to stare at Hye Soo's house. Just for today, he thought and smiled.
You’re beautiful, you’re beautiful
Ji Hoon never thought he’d get this close to Hye Soo. He never thought he’d see her as a woman; more than just his sunbae or co-worker. Everyday he’s with her, every moment they shared, even the littlest moment, he will never forget. It’s like his life has been dull and bland, until he met Hye Soo, then he began seeing things differently. He’s known for being quirky and goofy in his interviews and filming set, but it’s all because he wanted to diminish the awkwardness between him and his co-workers. But with Hye Soo, he’s quirky and goofy, but mature and serious at the same time. He wanted her to feel comfortable around him, but more than that, he wanted to make her happy.
You’re beautiful, it’s true
He doesn’t plan on leaving anytime soon. He plans to stay, to be with her for a very long time. He plans to choose her over everything else; even his career. He lets out a deep breath as he shivers. He gets cold easily, it’s his weakness. But for some reason today, he feels stronger. He has never stood outside in the cold before. But standing there, in front of Hye Soo’s house, made him feel like he can stand there forever.
Yeah, I saw your face in a crowded place and I don’t know what to do
He was looking down at his shoes because he feels something tingly somewhere in his ankle. Then he heard Hye Soo’s gate opens. He lifts his head and there she is, in front of him. “Hey! What are you doing out here?” He’s startled a little, but he smiled sweetly at her. “Nothing, I just wanted to be here.” He answers her but his heart speaks otherwise, I just wanted to be with you. She asks him how long he has been there; he opens his coat to show her the hot patches. Suddenly, he felt the cold all over his body. “I never left since I drove you home.” He smiled faintly.
‘Cause I’ll never be with you
Worry is written all over Hye Soo’s face and Ji Hoon can see it. He knew he’s crazy when that made him a bit happy. She’s worried about me, he smiled at that thought. And when she pulls him inside, he feels like he could die of happiness any moment. Before, he’ll feel guilty for worrying his mom whenever he gets sick because of the cold. But now, it’s different, of course he still feels guilty for worrying Hye Soo and bothering her. But thinking that she’ll take care of him and he’ll get to be with her, makes him like the cold a little more than before.
You’re beautiful, you’re beautiful
When they’re finally inside her house, his guilt started eating him up. He looks at Hye Soo and he realized she’s going somewhere because of her outfit. I’m such a bother to her, he thought. So he draws back and pulls his hand from her, “I’m sorry, I’m such a bother. I’m okay now, I’ll go home.” He said to her while smiling. He tried to hide his faintness from her; he doesn’t want to think that he’s forcing her to take care of him. So he’ll just leave. I’m okay, now that I saw you, he thought.
You’re beautiful, it’s true
Hye Soo blinks when he pulls back his hand, but she grabs it again. “Stay. I’ll make some soup.” She said to him while pulling him. She made him sit on the couch and he lets out a deep sigh. Hye soo went to her kitchen. Ji Hoon lies down; he never thought he could miss a couch like this. This is crazy. Crazy but comfy, he chuckles at that thought. He stares at the ceiling then he crosses his hands on his chest. He’s still freezing.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face
He feels dizzy so he closed his eyes. His mind and his heart are all over the place. He can’t help but to be happy at the moment. He’s cold but he feels warm. If it takes him to stand in the cold that long just to be with Hye Soo, he’ll gladly do so. If it takes him to give up his career and live his life with Hye Soo, he’ll drop everything for her. Even if he’s so afraid of commitment, responsibility and marriage life, he’s more than willing to face his fears head on. Hell, he will gladly risk everything just to be with Hye Soo; even if it’s his health or his career. A lifetime with her doesn’t compare to everything he has now.
When she thought up that I should be with you
He’ll plan his confession after the filming ends. He knows they can’t have a normal date outside so he’ll just show up in her house and just like the usual; they’ll eat together and drink their coffee. They’ll watch her favourite indie movies and listen to David Bowie’s songs. Imagining these things feels therapeutic for him. He smiles at his thoughts. He’s excited to tell her how he feels; to tell her how much he loves her.
But it’s time to face the truth
Of course, Ji Hoon would naturally feel afraid of the consequences. He’ll think how hurt he’ll be when Hye Soo doesn’t feel the same way as him. He has to be ready in case Hye Soo rejects him. It’ll be hell for him, but he won’t force her into something she doesn’t really want. If ever Hye Soo rejects him, he’s willing to let her go. He’ll still love her though, in a distance. He probably won’t be able to get over her forever. Ji Hoon will always be her fanboy. And he’ll remember every memory he had with her. He’s about to tear up when he heard Hye Soo’s steps coming over. He kept his eyes closed.
I will never be with you
“Ji Hoon-ssi, here’s—“ he heard her say. Ji Hoon doesn’t know why he kept his eyes closed when his mind is wide awake. He felt her presence, beside him. Ji Hoon’s heart is pounding hard, as if he’s having palpitations. But he’s not; it’s because of his excitement and anticipation. What is she doing? he asks in his mind. She puts a blanket on him and he felt her hand gently massaging and running her fingers through his head. It’s relaxing so Ji Hoon felt his heart calm a bit, but the next thing he knew, his world stops because he’d hear Hye Soo whispers, “I love you.”

I carefully zipped my suitcase after packing all of my clothes and other stuff, I double checked my list to make sure I didn’t forget anything, and when I was I was done, I threw myself on the bed and let my eyes scan through the entire room, “I sure am gonna miss this place,” I said to myself, as soon as I said that, anxiety slowly crept over my system. Tomorrow I will be leaving Pyongyang and head to Russia where I’ve decided to fulfill my dreams and finally start a new chapter. It’s not like my first time to go overseas, but at this moment it felt different. I sighed and glanced at my ring, my most treasured memory of him, how long has it been? Three years? I don’t really know, I’ve lost count...or perhaps I just didn’t want to count the days, or I just wanted time to stop just like how my world stopped spinning when I lost him.
Moments later I heard a knock followed by the sound of the door knob being twisted, “Dan?” my mom entered my room. I got up and met her eyes, “Are you all set?” she asked. I nodded, she smiled and sat next to me, she placed her hand on mine, “You wouldn’t be here for awhile, so I want you to take care of yourself okay?”
“I will mom, you too,” I answered, “And please be extra careful when you go on dates, don’t drink too much.”
“Oh you don’t have to worry about me my dates are such gentlemen and not to mention very good-looking as well,” a muffled squeal escaped her mouth, she’s been acting like a teenager lately, she has been so adamant of remarrying eversince she consulted that weird fortune-teller she wouldn’t stop blabbing about. I shook my head, three years ago I was engaged to a man who never reciprocated my feelings yet I was crazy at being so determined of pushing through the marriage, I heard Ri Jeong-hyeok has been discharged at the military and went to Switzerland to pursue a career in music and the woman he truly loves as well, I hope they’re happy. While I on the other hand, after learning to accept and let go have decided to remain unmarried despite of my mother and uncle’s persuasion to find myself a new man, have I become “allergic” with the idea of marriage?
I rolled my eyes at my mother, “Whatever,” I said and stood up, I snatched my coat from the closet and wore it. My mom crossed her brows, “Where are you going?”
“I’m going for a walk, I just want some fresh air.”
The chilly breeze immediately brushed onto my skin the moment I stepped out of the house, it was quiet yet I appreciated the solitude, somehow it made me feel at ease, I walked around the neighborhood and as if on cue, memories of the past started playing in my mind. Our first meeting and the second, I thought he was cute but an idiot at the same time, despite of all my efforts to win the heart of my ex-fiance, for some reason I always end up being with him, but I actually didn’t complain, there’s something about this guy that made me trust him. Coincidence or not he was always there, he put up with my antics at trying to make the man I thought I loved fall for me, he was there when I had my heart shattered over and over, he was always there for me and I knew I’ll never be alone. It was never Jeong-hyeok, it has always been him...I just failed to realize and acknowledge it right away.
I stopped by the nearest park, the sky was full of stars tonight, and it was pleasant to see. Suddenly I saw a shooting star, many people around the world believe that when you see one and make a wish, it will come true. I thought it was ridiculous, yet I found myself closing my eyes, hands clasped together, and wished for a miracle. Well, there’s no harm in trying right? Just this once, I thought, I want to feel his presence.
Moments after, I felt the wind blew gently but it felt different. It felt so...warm, the kind of warmth that was so familiar, I slowly opened my eyes and looked to my side, my eyes went wide, my heart skipped a beat, I don't know why or how, but beside me is the man I’ve been longing to see all these years. I froze in astonishment, is this real? No, this can’t be! I must be dreaming, or hallucinating, there’s no way this could be real...
But does it matter?
“Gu Seung-jun…” I muttered. He didn’t say a word but he smiled at me, his face was so serene, sure he has always been good-looking but I've never seen him so happy, so at peace. He caressed my cheek, my heart was overflowing with joy for the first time in three years.
Right then and there, I was reminded of a very special memory, the night when he gave me my ring. I can never forget the sound of his voice that’s now echoing in my mind, “When I am doing better and if you’re still single, then please give me a chance...I like you Dan, because I like you, I will keep in mind where I am going, I will live that way, I will do that from now on.”
I’ve been asked so many times why at my age haven’t found a suitable husband, the answer is simple, because I’ve already found the man that I have been looking for, and I intend to keep him in my heart for the rest of my life. He is a bittersweet memory I would never want to forget, and if I would be given a chance, I would go back to the day I met him no matter how painful or tragic our story ended. Because he was the only man who made me feel good about myself, who made me feel loved, who valued me until his last breath.
I still want to give him…us a chance and I will hold on to that no matter what it takes. It may not have happened in this lifetime, but who knows? Maybe in the afterlife, or perhaps in a different timeline and place? One day, someday we’ll be together again. The idea gave me hope, and the fact that I'm seeing him right now is proof that the universe is full of endless possibilities, and I will hold on to that chance. For now, I am contented knowing that he has indeed been better, and for that I am grateful, I on the other hand promised to live my life as best as I could and be happy...always. I finally smiled back at him and said the words I’ve been yearning to tell him all these years, those words I should have told him long ago, “I love you…Gu Seung-jun…” then his image slowly rippled and faded, I was left alone once more, but this time I never felt empty again.

Drama: Crash Landing on You
~Damn, Seo Dan and Seung-jun made me shed buckets of tears. Never thought I would love the 2nd couple but daaaaaamn! They had one of the most unforgettable scenes in the show, Seo Ji Hye and Kim Jung Hyun executed their scenes so well, it’s sad that these two ended their love story in a tragic way. Seo Dan is a badass, she’ll be fine but I still fancy the idea of her and Seung-jun getting the happy ending they both deserve.
Also, I haven’t written a fanfiction in ages so please bear with me 😂😂

Chapter 3: Markets Hate Pirates
Ok, Nino knew he had just claimed to his entire crew that he would immediately sail to the destination the map led them to, but he realized the longer he looked at it, the less sense it made. Of course he was still beaming as bright as the sun itself, but he went downstairs to see if he could have any better luck in a slightly different environment.
He had been down there for quite a while when he started hearing thumps on the wooden floor above, followed by muffled cheering. His crewmates were certainly having the time of their lives with their excessive celebrating, and their happiness only rekindled the giddy feeling the captain had in his chest. His smile turned into a grin when the trapdoor opened and his best friend came down the steps.
“You should come up and celebrate with us, Nino!” Adrien offered as he took his place before the captain. “Can’t you look away from that map for one second, man?”
“But-“
“No buts, sir, a break will definitely be good for you.” Adrien winked at him, pulling out his sword and using the tip of it to gently lower the map from the captain’s hands. “Kim and Luka are wrestling right now and it’s quite hilarious.”
Nino snickered. “And Luka isn’t a pile of pulp yet?”
“Nope! He’s handling it surprisingly well.” The co-captain leaned against a barrel and his smile turned into a perplexed frown when he looked inside it. “Yo, Cap?”
“What is it, dude?”
“We’re out of oranges.”
Nino stood up abruptly, half-exaggerated, and hissed, “We’re what?”
“Truly unfortunate,” Adrien played along while scratching his chin. “Looks like we’re gonna have to restock.”
Nino placed his fingers to his chin in thought. “Actually, it really has been a while.” He laughed slightly. “We’ve been so caught up in everything that we’ve failed to realize we’re nearly out of everything.”
“It’ll be a good break for you, too,” his best friend agreed. “Wanna give the decks a good clean as I steer us to the market?”
“Ooooh you know I do!”
------------------------------
“Wow, nice parry!” Alya complimented her crewmate as she deftly dodged another one of the attacks from his wooden blunted sword.
“Thanks!” Nathaniel responded happily, proud to be complimented by his captain.
His succession threw him off, however, and he was distracted enough that he was unable to defend himself in time when Alya suddenly dropped to a squat and kicked at his legs, knocking him off balance. He grunted when he fell to the floor and frowned when the tip of Alya’s fake sword pointed at his throat.
“Don’t forget to be prepared for anything, though,” she smirked. Nathaniel huffed but graciously accepted her extended hand to help him back up.
“One day I’ll be as good as you,” he said, patting himself to rid of the dust.
“Maybe,” she teased. Alya glanced around at the rest of her crewmates to observe their fighting tactics, pleased with what she saw. Kagami and Max were definitely her best fighters, and seeing them duel was something else. Everyone else of course battled to the best of their ability, and she was indeed impressed, but it was almost entrancing to watch her two most skilled battlers duel.
“Yo, Captain!” A voice sounded from above, knocking her from her trance. Alya looked up to see Alix poking her head out from her post. When she noticed she had the captain’s attention, she called, “We’re about to pass a local market; wanna stop for a little bit to restock and check out their wares?”
Alya walked to the edge of her ship and looked out to see land up ahead. She nodded and turned back to her lookout. “Sure! Probably is a good idea before we head out to find the Jade Turtle.”
“You got it, Cap!”
Marinette appeared beside Alya and gave the captain her wooden sword. “I can steer us there real quick, if you’d like!”
“Sounds good to me, girl.” Alya smiled as Marinette saluted playfully and went on her way to the steering wheel.
------------------------------
The moment the boat was parked at a nearby dock, Kim nearly bolted off before Nino was able to get a firm grip of his shoulder. His crewmate looked back at him, perplexed if not a tad miffed.
Nino smirked at him. "I get that you're excited, Kim, but I need you on boat duty, remember?"
"WHAT?!"
"I can't have anyone stealing this boat or anything inside while we're at the market," the captain explained as he folded his arms. He winked and continued before Kim could open his mouth to protest. "You should consider yourself lucky, since I can only rely on someone I know will truly take good care of this ship."
Kim was obviously flustered by the compliment but was still ornery as he folded his arms and turned away.
"Dooon't worry, Kim, you won't be here all day," Nino snickered, and Kim visibly perked. "I'll have Luka take your place after half the day has passed."
Next to him, Luka froze and said, "Wait, what?"
Nino nodded.
"Why can't Luka and I switch spots so I can go now?" Kim objected.
"Kim, you're great but I don't trust you to remember to come back when you should." Adrien and Luka both had a small coughing fit as they laughed while Kim merely smiled and rolled his eyes.
"Eh, you're right," the lookout finally gave in. "You can count on me, Cap."
"Knew I could," Nino grinned, punching the other pirate playfully in the shoulder before he and the rest of his crew marched off the deck and into the already bustling streets of the marketplace.
As much as Nino loved sailing the seas on his beloved vessel, he always forgot how much he loved exploring bits of the land, too. The welcoming sights and smells drew him in and soon he was lost in the crowd. Adrien still tagged along with him, as he usually did, but Nino quickly lost the rest of his crew, though had full confidence that they would return to his boat by the end of the day.
Now, he had time to enjoy this.
Merchants left and right were yelling encouragingly about their wares to the wandering potential customers, the smell of freshly cooked bread and meat filled the air, children were playing game after game, and the streets bustled with energy as everyone moved back and forth between booths.
Nino and Adrien wandered between booths themselves, gawking at the beautiful jewelry that was far too expensive, and laughing at ones that were in odd shapes. A nearby commotion grabbed both of their attentions, and they both knew one of the ornery voices well.
"HEY! How dare you; I had my eye on that comb!" Chloe suddenly barked at the beautiful young woman standing next to her, who seemed to have just purchased an item: a golden, bee-shaped comb, and Chloe apparently wanted it desperately. The other girl may have been pretty, but despite her adorable freckles, bright blue eyes and bobbed haircut, her glare was nearly sharp enough to slice Chloe to pieces, not to mention the sword on her back undoubtedly would do that if the conversation got any more heated.
"Really? Well, I believe I just bought it first. Good luck next time, and good day." Before the other pirate could wander away, Chloe protested loudly and cut into her path, not allowing her to leave. Adrien leaped forward and grabbed Chloe as her sudden rival finally reached for the sword on her back, and Nino noticed a dark-skinned pirate do the same to the other woman with a, "Whoa whoa whoa, Kagami."
"Chloe, please," Adrien begged, pulling his snarling friend closer to him. "I'm sure we can negotiate. Nicely."
Chloe groaned, "Ugh...fine." She took a deep breath. "Can I have the comb." Adrien poked her harshly in the side and she grunted in pain and annoyance. "Please."
Kagami gave her a long, hard look, before finally replying, "What's in it for me?"
"Alright, I've got money." Chloe reached into her satchel and pulled out a wad of cash, leaning forward to give it to the other pirate. "Here."
"Wait." Kagami ignored the money and reached for Chloe's hand, staring intently at the jewelry on her fingers. "I'll give you the comb for this ring."
"Wait, seriously? I'll have you know this ring is very impor-OW!" She growled at Adrien, who had poked her once again. "Fine, FINE. Take the stupid ring!" The blonde pirate pulled the ring off her finger and Kagami gladly gave her the comb for it. Then, they both turned without saying a word and walked off.
Adrien and Nino nodded at each other, satisfied with the exchange as well. Chloe was definitely a lot of work, but Nino was extremely grateful she had a soft spot for Adrien.
------------------------------
"Oh WOW!"
Alya and Marinette stared in surprise at the tiny pirate with short, blond hair and the brightest blue eyes either had ever seen that had approached them.
“Your necklace is so pretty!” she continued, and she blushed when she looked up and noticed their confused yet amused expressions. “OH my bad; I should probably introduce myself.” She giggled. “My name’s Rose!”
Smiling, Alya nodded at her, saying, “Nice to meet you, Rose, I’m-“
“Totally rocking that necklace!!” Rose threw her arms toward her chest giddily as she admired the piece of jewelry. She nearly squealed when she noticed Trixx sitting next to Alya, and she leaned towards the fox excitedly. “Oh my goodness, you have a pet fox, too?! That’s amazing!” Rose reached her arm forward to give Trixx a pat.
Alya lifted a finger quickly. “OH, uh, better be careful, he tends to bite those he doesn’t-“
Trixx accepted Rose’s hand happily and even nuzzled into her arm.
“-know…” Alya lowered her finger as Marinette stared at the smaller pirate in surprise.
Alix suddenly appeared by her crewmates, laughing at the scene before her.
“Oh, Alix, good to see you!” Alya exclaimed. “I’m putting you on fox duty.”
Alix’s smile vanished and her eyes turned incredulous. “WHAT? No way, first boat duty, now this? I’d rather lick a toad!”
As if on command, Trixx, after Rose had said a sweet goodbye, wandered up to Alix and happily wagged his tail at her.
Alya bumped Alix’s shoulder with her own, wiggling her eyebrows. “C’mon, girl, I know you love it.”
“Fine, whatever…” Alix grumbled, though her small smile did not go unnoticed. “Come on, Trixx.” She took off, no doubt intending to cause some more mischief, and the fox followed suit.
“Yo, Rose!” A timid voice from behind sounded. Alya and Marinette turned to see a tall pirate with purple highlights holding up some sort of pink jewel. The girl she called for perked. “Come look at this.”
“Ooooh, coming!” Rose turned back to her new acquaintances and in one breath she said, “It was wonderful to meet you and your fox and I hope you have a good rest of your day, bye!” With that, she took off, leaving a smiling Marinette and Alya to shake their heads fondly.
“That has got to be the most adorable pirate I’ve ever met,” Marinette quipped.
“Speaking of adorable…” Alya felt a smirk steadily growing, peering at her best friend mischievously. “Maybe coming here if the perfect chance to find a cute man for you!”
Marinette’s cheeks turned bright red and she stiffened. “WHAT?”
“Girl, you’re always complaining about being single! Now’s your chance!” as Marinette became a blubbering mess, Alya took a second to look around. “Look, there’s a cute one right there!” she pointed towards a tall, good-looking man with long, blonde hair a few yards away, happily chatting with a darker-skinned friend of his.
The only response Marinette was able to make was a mortified garble, and Alya turned to find her friend’s face buried in her hands.
The captain took Marinette’s hands and lowered them, and when she looked up with uncertainty, Alya winked cheekily. “You’ll thank me later.” Without any further warning, She grabbed Marinette’s arm and threw her at the boy.
Much to Alya’s delight, Marinette stumbled right into him. Clearly surprised, he placed his hands on her elbows for support and gave the girl a peculiar look.
“I’M-You’re- PRETTY! I-I mean uh! I’m pretty sorry! I’m just...super clumsy…ha…” Marinette managed to stutter out.
The boy blinked a few times before he smiled like the sun. “Oh, it’s no worries at all, m’lady!” He bowed and kissed her hand, giving her a wink when he looked back up.
Marinette looked like she was about to explode.
Alya stood next to the other boy this flirt was talking with before and said, “Wow, I almost regret doing that.”
“Dude…Adrien’s a hopeless sap but I’ve never seen him that romantic before.” The pirate beside her shook his head while laughing softly. “Boy’s suddenly got it bad.”
“So does Marinette.” Though her face was still redder than a cherry, Marinette was clearly very happy with Adrien’s actions and she was giggling up a storm. “I feel SICK.”
“Maybe we should leave them to themselves for a bit,” the other boy suggested. She nodded and together they turned and pushed themselves through crowds a ways away. When they decided to stop in a fairly secluded area, accompanied by a few chairs and booths that weren’t as popular as the others, he turned to Alya and looked her up and down with a small smile. “Name’s Nino, by the way.” He held out his hand.
“Alya,” she replied, giving him a smirk of her own and her hand to shake firmly. She glanced at his back at said, “Is that a mandolin I see, pretty boy?”
“It is indeed.” Nino pulled the instrument off his back and gave it a few playful plucks. “Why are you interested in this?”
“I just want to see how good you are with music,” Alya said. She pulled her own lute from her pouch pocket and twirled it between her fingers, giving her new companion a wink.
His golden eyes grew challenging. “I’ll only show you my… incredible skills if you show me yours.”
She threw him a look just as determined. “But of course!”
------------------------------
To say Kim was ecstatic to finally be off boat duty was an understatement. The moment Luka arrived to swap places, Kim nearly created smoke behind with how quickly he dashed off, but it made his crewmate laugh hysterically nonetheless.
Nino and Alya both watched as Kim ran up to a booth selling bread. The look-out grabbed an entire loaf and nearly shoved the whole thing into his mouth, but Chloe snatched it from his hands before he could do so and whacked it upon the top of his head.
"Kim, you brute!" she scolded. "You know you need to pay for that!"
Nino was nearly beaming with sudden pride.
"But I'm a pirate!" The captain nearly laughed at Kim's sudden puppy dog pout.
"That is no excuse. You have money in that wallet and I know it."
A short, pink-haired spunky-looking pirate walked by Kim and waved his beloved wallet in the air. "Yeah, there's tons of money in this. Better keep a close eye on it so no one, say... snatches it." Her smug smile and Kim's dumbfounded face and intense patting of his rear to make sure his wallet was actually gone made Nino snort. Beside him Alya snickered, as well.
"Wh-HEY! You get back here, you punk!" And just like that, they both were gone in a flash.
Nino thought he might've seen something orange chase after them, as well, but the moment he blinked his eyes and squinted to make sure, it was gone.
------------------------------
As the sky began to turn a brilliant shade of pink and orange, Alya playfully bumped shoulders with her companion as she put her instrument away, and he soon followed suit.
"Thanks for the fun time," he chided. "We were so good that that one couple gave us a tip!"
She rolled her eyes playfully. "Ivan and Mylene give tips to just about anyone." She looked back at him. "But still, I clearly was better than you."
He faked a pout. There was just something about this woman that really brought out his competitive side. "I'd beg to differ."
Alya scoffed at him. "If you keep talking, you'll be begging, alright." As Nino blinked a few times at her, she began to walk away, clearly putting a significant sway in her hips as she went. "My companions and I have an important journey to prepare for."
She stopped in her tracks and turned her head with a small smile. "Hopefully, our paths will cross again."
Nino nodded in agreement and made sure to add a quick wink before she looked away. She simply laughed at him as she continued her jaunt away, and Nino caught himself smiling brightly.
Wait.
Was that a fox that just leaped onto her shoulders?
Nino quickly rubbed his eyes and leaned forward to get a better look, but Alya was long lost in the sudden crowd.
What was he doing? He couldn't keep his mind occupied on that. His crew had a mission to fulfill. Nino headed back to his boat, the excitement about what was to come already invigorating his entire spirit. This was finally something the Coral Crew couldn't butt their nosy lives into. This was finally something only he and his crew would enjoy.

Taehyung did not have a strong reaction to the king of Hemera visiting. He kept the same indifference of his features except assigning Yoongi with the task of preparing for the king’s arrival.
“Prepare a bedroom chamber for the king to stay in and make sure he is accommodated to his needs with any staff in the palace,” he responded simply. Although the room felt calm due to Taehyung’s lack of reaction, I did not fail to notice the slight tenseness in his jaw and a stronger edge in his tone. “You are dismissed.”
“Yes, your majesty,” Yoongi did not catch the change and bowed before disappearing from the room in a cloud of smoke.
“Do you wish to return to the celebration?”
I was shocked; for the first time, Taehyung had offered me a choice. It was not something of importance, but it was a question that he genuinely wanted me to answer.
To that, I shook my head. I did not feel comfortable with the celebration and the atmosphere.
“I’ve had a bedroom prepared for you to stay in if you would like to return there,” he suggested.
My voice was not here with me because I responded by nodding. I felt a slight worry rise in me at the thought of having to stay alone. Yes, I had slept in his bedroom without anyone, but I knew his bedroom was the safest place to be at this palace.
Now, who knew how far my new bedroom was from the only person I knew, even if he had been an absolute cold-hearted asshole since I had been here.
No y/n, you could not be so dependent on someone who could fail you so easily.
“Right then,” Taehyung glanced towards the door. “Anna will take you there.” He began to stride towards the desk sitting in front of the grand window.
I felt a presence behind me and when I turned around, I saw the same girl from the previous night as she bowed before rising.
“Your Highness, this way,” she raised her head with a kind smile as her hand gestured towards the door.
I followed her direction. Before crossing the threshold, I spun my head once to glance at Taehyung. He was nose deep into his work once again.
“His Majesty has chosen the bedroom closest to his in the same hall for you, Your Highness,” Anna had spoken as she shut the door to the cabinet room.
I felt a slight reassurance knowing that I was not moved to the opposite side of the palace.
She led me down a series of hallways once again. It was like word had already passed around about the betrothal scene Taehyung had put on in the throne room because the moment servants spotted me, they bowed in response and did so until I breezed passed them.
“Here we are.”
It was not a grand door with intricate woodwork, but the door still towered over me with the length reaching nearly the ceiling of the palace floor. Anna did not move from her spot beside the door giving me the impression I was to enter myself.
With a turn of the doorknob, I was greeted with a bedroom just as marvelous as Taehyung’s. On one side were magnificent windows with silky midnight blue curtains that ran from ceiling to floor. With a closer look, I was met with something that resembled clusters of stars as part of the midnight blue.
In the middle of the room, a step higher than the ground was a king-sized bed with bedposts and fabric that hung from each post. The bedding once again made of the same silky material that reflected light.
“I hope it is to your likings,” a voice from behind me spoke. “If you find any discomfort, one word and it will be gone,” she added quickly.
“It’s more than what I need.” It was more luxurious than I had ever experienced. I could barely respond to what she had said.
“I was not able to fill this room with things to give you entertainment as I did not know what you would like, but I could get you anything. Or the palace has a library with many shelves filled with books if you enjoy reading, or there is a gallery if you enjoy art, or a music room with a piano if you would like to play,” she continued to list options upon options and I had to interject.
“Why are you giving me so many choices?” I was confused as to why I was offered so much.
“His Majesty had asked to keep you entertained and happy.”
“Oh.” I was not sure how to respond or to feel when Taehyung acted so distant from me when I was with him but wanted to give me this treatment when I was not present and he could order his servants to do so in his place.
I guess I felt slightly elated that he did care to some extent, but his in-person presence was still as distant as my village from this palace.
“Is there anything I could be of service for at the moment?”
I shook my head.
“I will be back within the hour to check up on you, but if you need me before then, you can ring the bell sitting on the nightstand and I will be here,” she presented another smile as her hand gestures towards the nightstand beside the bed.
I nodded.
She bowed and I remembered to thank her for yesterday.
“Thank you, Anna,” I returned a smile. “For yesterday.”
“It’s my pleasure.”
In a cloud of black, she disappeared from the room.
I strode towards the large window and allowed my sight to wander the lands outside of the palace. It seemed I was in quarters towards the garden of the palace. My mind wandered the more my eyes began focusing on what was beyond the window and hopelessness began to settle upon my thoughts.
Mom, dad, Namjoon, where are you? I wish I could get help sooner. I’m sorry I can’t get to you sooner.
My hand unconsciously flattened against the windowpane as if I could reach for them. I noticed my unconscious actions and ran a hand down my face when I remembered my situation. I was here to get help and suddenly, I was betrothed to the king of Erebus.
What was Taehyung planning if he was not aiding me in finding my family? Why was he keeping me here?
Why was I staying here willingly?
I quickly persuaded myself that I was just staying to come up with my next move. Perhaps he was planning his own move and was planning to help me in some way. That was what I wanted to convince myself of.
The reality was that I did not know why I was here. I was lost because I didn’t see another plan and I didn’t know how I would find my family at all. The worst part was that I came here on a whim and was faced with what I feared most: rejection from Taehyung to help me.
I did not want to face this reality so I continued to lie to myself that I was just pausing to think of what to do next.
—
I did not know that being betrothed to Taehyung was not just a safety measure, a facade to his people, because in the following week after the announcement I was thrown into sessions of dress fittings, walked through a grand hall where the wedding would take place, and expected to be a part of every update regarding the wedding.
Every day was the same routine. I was awoken, given breakfast, and then whisked away to some wedding planning session.
In the time span of this happening, I was not given even a minute of Taehyung’s day for me to express my constant confusion and growing frustration.
I was beginning to wonder if he had truly meant to keep me out of harm’s way with this betrothal or it was for his own hidden agenda.
I had even dreamt of him admitting that he had done this in spite of what had happened during the week of Winter Solstice. Because he was not able to persuade me and left without my hand in marriage, he was using this as an opportunity to fulfill his own plans. He was getting what he wanted when he wandered into my village during that week: to benefit from the tradition and find a wife.
Although I remembered his words resonated genuineness to me that morning he gave me all the reasons as to why he was not going to ask for my hand after the end of the agreement, the fear lingered deep in my mind. It was buried as far as I could get it as I tried to fill my thoughts with other worries, but like trying to not look at something and curiosity getting the best of me, the thought was itching to be expressed constantly.
It was winning because the more I was thrown into the wedding planning, the more I feared his ultimate agenda. I felt myself reaching a breaking point. I did not want to believe it, but it was beginning to win.
It had been a week before I had enough. When I was awoken this morning, I did not allow myself to be dressed up like a doll for display of different wives of Taehyung’s court to nitpick everything about the wedding and walked through all the updates on the wedding plans.
Instead, I waved away the servants at my door and dressed myself in a pair of trousers and a plain top that I found in the dresser.
“I would like to take a day off today. Is that possible?” I did not have it in me to demand a break towards Anna who had been the only person to treat me with kindness thus far.
She gave a sympathetic smile and nodded. “As you wish, your highness,” she responded before leaving me.
Before she had passed the threshold of my bedroom, I spoke. “Could I have whatever had been done for the wedding dress so far? I would like to get the king’s opinion.”
She did not reject my request as half an hour later, I was given the dress mockup, layers of tulle that had been picked, and his very location in this grand palace, where he was stated to be for the next hour on his schedule.
I was going to find out where the hell Taehyung had been hiding from me for the past week.
I remembered where his cabinet room had been and with the dress in hand, I did not knock, but instead, shoved the door open and threw the dress onto his desk.
For once, he had not expected my actions; he was surprised. It was evident when his head had perched up at my sudden presence in the room and the dress now covering his work.
It was a quick reaction though because a moment later, his face settled. The surprise only flashed for a second.
“This had better be important if you are distracting me from my work,” a hint of annoyance laced in his tone as if I had instead just taken him out of a meeting with a foreign ambassador.
“Do you like it? It’s the dress that I’m supposed to wear as your bride.”
His eyes rolled. “What is this really about?”
“Do me a favor and let me know if this engagement was real from the beginning because what happened to giving me a choice?” At this moment, the fear that he had forced me to marry him as the motivation behind the betrothal had surfaced. I was not expressing my frustration, rather, the fear had already consumed me. It felt real and reasonable.
“What are you talking about?”
“You said you were not going to force me to marry you. You said you weren’t even going to ask me at the end of the week because you wanted to give me a different choice for a different future. Why am I spending day after day planning for it as if it is real and I am to marry you at the end of it all?” Now, I was handing him my vulnerability and waited for him to push them further.
Silence filled the room and Taehyung paused before rising from his chair.
“You are my fiance now so play the part. I had reminded you before this that you will need to adjust yourself to the role. It is this for now, or you will be ridiculed and possibly tortured by my people. Make your choice because you had already made the wrong one by stepping foot into my kingdom. The question at the end of the day is: do you want to survive or not?”
I had not realized how close he had gotten as he spoke. There was barely a foot distance between the two of us and his eyes looked like something I had not seen from him before. He was irritated, angry even. “I did not know I would have to spell it out for you so clearly for you to understand. How about this? Play the damn part or die.” His gaze held mine as his hand wrapped around my forearm, the moon. “Does that get the message through to you?”
His grip tightened ever so slightly and his pupils were blown wide as their stare was sharp, piercing me just as much as his words shot at me.
Play the damn part or die.
I felt myself cower slightly at his closeness towards me. I suddenly felt the fear that his people felt for him when he wasn’t even in the room. It was his frightening presence that made his subjects bow at the very sound of his heels hitting the floor.
I felt myself nodding and took a step back.
His stern features softened slightly as his brows lowered themselves from the accusing arch they were previously and his pupils lost their dark sheen. He, too, backed away a few steps.
“I’ve told you before that you must listen to everything I tell you to do. It is in your best interest, y/n,” he spoke with less of a harsh edge. It was that same emotionless voice as he had always been speaking with.
—
For the next couple of weeks, I obeyed every duty I was told to perform. I listened; I did not fight back.
The wedding dress was finally out of the mockup and its final form created. As much as I did not want the wedding, regardless of how it was unreal, I admit my jaw fell the slightest bit when I saw how extravagant and stunning the dress was.
It was a long sleeve, for the winter frost would just be melting by the time the wedding was happening, with a sweetheart bodice. The neckline went higher with just detailed beading and layers upon layers of silky fabric laid on each other creating an amazing train.
I had once asked why the dress was white when the fashion of the kingdom favored dark colors to which one of the noble wives answered, “Only the bride of the king will be allowed to wear white in this kingdom.”
It made me wonder how much power I held just for being the queen-to-be.
For the same weeks, I had different nightmares of my people and my family. They seemingly pieced together my worst fears of what had happened to them and presented themselves to be realistic enough to almost be a reality.
I was never present in them; I was always just speculating, forced to watch from afar as the people I had befriended and known for nearly my entire life locked behind cells. I tried so many times to warn them or speak to them, but like I didn’t exist, I was never heard.
—
My first was the one where I learned that I had no control of my own dream and could only sit and watch.
“I haven’t seen y/n amongst anyone here,” Namjoon spoke to father. I was beyond the bars they were locked behind.
“I’m here,” I spoke as I ran towards the cell and wrapped both hands onto the bars. “Where are you?”
They didn’t turn from each other. Wait, where was mother?
I turned around and saw a different cell. One for men and one for women. Two soldiers walked past me and towards the entrance of the cell.
“Alright, here’s your meal.” One soldier placed a basket of bread down. He had a scar next to his right eye. “One per person.”
The other soldier approached the other cell and placed down an identical basket.
I didn’t fail to notice the similar crest on their arms.
This time, I got a clearer look. A crescent moon with two drops of blood dripping from it.
I did not know dreams could be this vivid.
—
A few dreams followed before I realized they were not simply dreams, but nightmares. I was trapped in my own nightmare for hours on end and forced to watch punishment after punishment administered by others who had nothing but hatred for my people.
“I have been waiting days to torture one of you,” the soldier’s smirk turned evil. His eyes held emotions that were nothing short of disgusting happiness. “Now that you’ve attempted to escape, my orders from the king holds and I’ve got the chance.”
To my horror, the man hanging with his arms tied to the ceiling was Namjoon. Why had he attempted something so reckless? My father was on his knees beside the soldier.
“Please, please,” he pleaded to no avail. The soldier, with one swift kick, shifted my father out of his way.
“Father!” I felt myself reach a hand out as I rushed to his side.
The soldier extended his hand out and a whip appeared from thin air. “10 lashes for attempted escape. 20 for attacking a soldier.”
30 lashes.
“Please, no,” I wanted to shout it, but from previous dreams, I knew I didn’t exist here. No one would hear my pleas. Instead, they came out as a whisper.
Namjoon was not spared when the soldier ripped the back of his shirt. He was planning on lashing him on exposed skin.
For the first few, I flinched. The more that came, the more I felt my tears begin to fall. And I could do nothing.
At the end of it, I heard my mother sobbing from across the males’ cell and my father’s apologies to Namjoon. I kept my eyes on the stone floor where drops of red fell, drop after drop and I knew the source.
My nightmare didn’t end until Namjoon’s punishment did. I wondered if I was being tortured in my own dreams being forced to watch until the very end.
It felt so real that I was beginning to believe it was real.
—
Sometimes they were dreams of conversations others had. Some were nightmares like of Namjoon or others being punished or tortured for fun. I always saw the same round of soldiers but never their leader, their king who gave orders.
I wondered if I was simply making up the dreams and it was a way for my mind to remind me what my real goal was.
At the same time, they were so realistic, I wondered if I had magic that allowed me to see into other places. I hoped they were not visions of where my people were. I hoped they were a figment of my imagination.
I almost didn’t want to sleep at night because most of the time they were the same type of dreams.
—
Today was the day of the king of Hemera’s arrival and the palace was in a flurry of activities. For the amount of hatred forged between the two kingdoms, it was a surprise citizens of the dark kingdom were putting their best face forward for the other king.
Perhaps it was Taehyung’s orders to prepare a dinner for the king’s arrival and many accommodations for his court.
This morning reminded me of the morning of the Winter Solstice Festival. I was woken up at the crack of dawn where the moon was still seen, but the sun was beginning to rise. From the beginning of the day, I was bathed and as Anna dried my hair, I was given breakfast.
“The king of Hemera is arriving around noon today,” Anna mentioned as her hand worked a brush through my hair.
“Am I also to be present at the arrival?” I wondered if that was the reason I was getting ready so early rather than later when the dinner will be held.
“Yes, you will be beside His Majesty when the king’s carriage pulls up.”
As I finished my porridge, Anna had begun braiding my hair in an intricate design. When the multiple braids were in place and the rest of my hair cascading along my back, she reached for the velvet box that had been sitting on the vanity.
“It was from His Majesty,” she answered before I questioned. She slid the box over slightly so it was directly in front of me and gestured towards the clamp in the front.
I lifted my hand slowly and unclasped the clamp. When I lifted the lid to reveal what was inside, I felt myself pause. In the center was a crown. It wasn’t the same small tiara that was given to me for the engagement; it was a queen’s crown, a pair to the king’s crown, the one Taehyung wore.
It was constructed of the same silver as Taehyung’s and the handiwork was of the same craftsman. It was adorned with the same style of diamonds and most important, a crescent moon in the center.
“He wants me to wear this,” my voice was quiet. If he had a crown created to match his, he was pushing this much act further.
I glanced at the mirror and realized my hair was styled with the top of my head to be barren with no braids.
Anna reached for the crown and placed it onto my head. “A true queen.” The braids framed the crown.
I almost believe myself to be their queen with the crown on my head as I sat high, looking regal. Even without a dress, the crown symbolized enough.
Not their queen. A fake act. I was quick to remind myself. I smiled, “Thank you.”
“You do not need to thank anyone for acknowledging who you are. Those who do not should apologize instead,” she commented. “Now that you’ve seen his gift, we have to finish getting you ready.” She gently removed the crown and placed it into the box. “This will go on last.”
I was given color on my lips and cheeks. Finally, I was dressed. The dress was just as elegant and matched the crown perfectly. It was a ball gown with straps that fell off the shoulder; different from the quite scandalous fashion of the kingdom. The skirt’s base was ivory which peeked through the top few layers of midnight blue tulle.
For once, I was surprised the style was different for the arrival.
When the sun was at its highest point, I was rushed through many hallways and down the grand staircase. Taehyung had been waiting at the bottom. It seemed he had changed out of his usual tunic and trousers for a button-down jacket and dress pants.
“My love,” he didn’t waste any time as he reached for my hand to place a kiss.
I was reminded to bow gently. “My king,” I returned a smile. Was I teasing him with this line? Perhaps.
Taehyung extended his arm for me to take.
“The king will arrive any minute. He is just outside of the outer gates, Your Majesty,” Yoongi appeared beside Taehyung. He, too, seemed to have dressed up slightly for the occasion.
It was not a surprise that the entire palace had gone the whole way with their presentation today. They wanted to show how much better they were than Hemera.
“Let us walk out and greet him.”
Taehyung had on the face of a king, both stoic and regal. A glance in his direction and you would have known by the way he walked, he was someone with plenty of power.
Rather than the casual stroll he put on for his throne room lined with his subjects, he walked with his chin high and his shoulders pushed back. I followed his posture subtly. I don’t know why I felt the responsibility to help him in presenting the best of this kingdom.
This wasn’t mine; I wasn’t really the queen.
As we stood on the front steps of the palace, the large iron gates were pulled open by guards and a procession of carriages, wagons, horses, and men entered flooding the front gardens. Every other carriage that followed were ordinary, but amongst the middle of the entourage was a singular carriage much grander than the rest.
The king’s carriage.
When the horses formed a semi-circle around where the king’s carriage stopped and the rest of the procession filed into the space, a man dismounted from his horse and approached the carriage, allowing the king to step out.
“Do not trust him easily,” Taehyung warned and I felt how close he was with his every breath hitting the shell of my ear.
I turned to reply to him, but the king had already begun his stride towards greeting Taehyung so Taehyung did the same.
As the king began his first step onto the carriage steps, Taehyung began his stride with the same high posture.
We met the king in the middle and both kings shook hands.
I felt the air become thick with tension when their hands met regardless of the light smiles they wore.
“Jimin, how was your trip? It must have taken quite some time getting through those forests.” It sounded forced like asking an enemy how their wound was after you purposely put it there.
“It wasn’t too bad,” Jimin responded before glancing towards Taehyung’s side, towards me. His eyes caught mine.
Jimin was as beautiful as his half-brother. Dangerously beautiful. The type of beauty to charm another being. His eyes were kind and a warm brown that seemed so gentle while his lips gave me a smile that was a match to his eyes.
I was not able to look away.
“This is y/n, my betrothed,” Taehyung seemed to notice the stare Jimin kept me in and cut it quickly.
“Since you are to be my sister in law, I’m Jimin. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
I released my arm from Taehyung and bowed. When I raised my head from the bow, Jimin reached for my hand to place a kiss upon the back of it. His eyes, once again, beheld mine and I felt entrance before he brought his attention back to Taehyung.
We began to walk towards the palace.
“I have asked the head of the kitchen to prepare a dinner in honor of your arrival. Shall we dine when the sun begins to set?” His tone was too sickly sweet, dripping with kindness, ready to accommodate to his every need. I was beginning to settle fear in how different Taehyung sounded.
“That sounds like a plan,” Jimin smiled. For some reason, the fake smile that was exchanged earlier seemed more genuine at this moment. Perhaps, blood was thicker than it seemed. Brothers were of the same family after all.
“I will see you then,” Taehyung responded. He glanced at the waiting servants. “Escort the king to his chambers as well as his court.”
That reminded me that this conversation between the two monarchs was being overheard by many ears, some of which were the king’s court who had been following us.
Once the king had been escorted a safe distance, Taehyung was quick to take hold of my hand and guide me towards a hallway in the opposite direction.
“You are to be by my side for the duration of his visit since the palace and staff are not to be trusted the most at this time. You must attend the dinners and any events. Lastly, I will only warn you one last time. My brother is not someone to be trusted easily. His actions and words do not show his intentions. Do not believe them easily. You have a habit of it.”
“Okay.”
His face was so close to mine and his eyes beheld mine, making sure I drank every word in and I did. The way his pupils were blown wide, I had no choice but to believe him.
“You can do as you wish until Anna arrives at your chambers before the dinner to help you get ready.”
With that, he was gone.
I was stuck to think what he had referred to when he said I have a habit of trusting people easily.
I feared deep down that he had been referring to himself.

could you do RFA+Trio with an MC that has always been pushed to excel in as many things as possible and thus is deathly afraid of failing or coming up short in any way? Similar to marcy from 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee! :o I hope this isn’t too complicated of an ask!!
I’m not familiar with Marcy or the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, but I think I have a pretty good idea of what you mean. ^^
Masterlist 📜 || Ko-fi ☕
RFA + Saeran and Vanderwood reacting to an MC who fears failure
Hyun Ryu // Zen
With a career that requires him to constantly put himself out there, he’s no stranger to failure. It’s got him doubting himself on more than one occasion.
But he also truly believes that failures are temporary. You might fail once, you might fail twice, maybe even ten times. The important thing is to get yourself back up and move on.
His past has also put a scar on his soul, one that has started to fade away, much unlike yours.
That’s why he’s so adamant about helping you deal with your trauma. That’s the way he thinks of it - trauma caused by someone’s unhealthy expectations of you at a time when you were supposed to be free and happy.
“Go kick their asses, babe! I know you can do it. And if you can’t? I got your back. I always have and I always will, babe. I promise.”
Yoosung
Once he realizes you two have gone through pretty much the same thing, he breaks down and starts crying.
Not just because he was reminded of how hard it was for him to go through high school, with the stress of studying, trying to please everyone else and secure a good future for himself, plus his fluctuating weight, no. He loves you so much that he secretly wishes you had a happy childhood and carefree teenage years.
“You know, honey? I know people were probably trying to look out for us, I really do. And I know I owe a lot to my parents. But I also know their expectations shaped a version of me that was only temporary.”
Despite everything, he truly believes that at its core, what your parents did and what his parents did was something that was supposed to help you both become better versions of yourselves.
“We’re all grown up now and we’re free to take action. So let’s make the best out of our freedom, together.”
Jaehee
As someone who’s had to take care of herself for most of her life, she knows what it’s like to fear that you’ll come short. It always comes at a cost, and more often than not it’s your mental health paying the price.
She acknowledges the fact that it will take time for you to come out of your shell and let loose, so she never forces aggressive methods of dealing with the problem on you.
Instead, her efforts remind you of gentle nudges, not strong enough to make you feel like you’re way out of your comfort zone, but persistent enough to make you notice that you’re pushing your limits.
When the going gets really tough, she’s always there for you with take-out, hot coffee, fluffy blankets, and her warmest hugs.
And truth be told, having someone like her who’s also testing her boundaries, be it with joining different martial art classes or opening her own cafe, you can’t help but feel hopeful that maybe things will work out for you as well.
Jumin
Even though you’re trying to hide your fear of failure, afraid that you might burden and disappoint him, he recognizes the signs early on.
You constantly worry about what other people will think of you. Their opinion holds more value to you than your own.
Despite being incredibly intelligent, and capable, he’s noticed you often put yourself down, belittling your hard-earned accomplishments and skills.
The worst of it all - you bottle things up in fear that your failure might cause him to leave you, that it will deem you unworthy of him.
It breaks his heart.
So naturally, he wants to help you, and what better way to do that than to show you how capable and smart you actually are.
Using his data gathering and analytical skills, he will prepare a paper on all your achievements so far with the last few pages being blank - for your future accomplishments.
“No one is immune to failure, love, but I do believe that together we can minimize the chance of it happening to 0.0000001%.”

Seeing as he struggled with the same issue for the longest time, he’s all too familiar with the paralyzing fear of not having done enough.
He’s identified the root cause of his own fear - failing his brother, failing to stay out of his father’s reach, failing to keep his friends safe.
It’s caused him enough mental breakdowns and panic attacks to know he doesn’t want you to go through the same under any circumstances.
So he just… talks to you.
Encourages you to do things for yourself and not for the people who have such high expectations of you that they don’t realize they’re hurting you.
Helps you convey emotions you’ve been bottling up for years.
Together, you two learn how to live your own lives.
It’s a long process, but freedom has never tasted so good to Seven as in those shared moments with you when you do the things that make you happy.
Ray // Unknown // Saeran
It truly pains him to see you struggle with something he’s been struggling with as well.
He’s often compared himself to a weed. Persistent, eager to live, but bound to be a lesser version of the pretty flowers everyone loves. A failure.
But when he looks at you, he sees a pretty flower that can never in a million years be deemed a filthy weed. So why do you fear something that would never happen?
He’s come a long way since his days in Magenta, so instead of diving headfirst into the pool of unhealthy thoughts, he spends some time analyzing these contradictions and how best to deal with them.
“You made me believe I have a future ahead of myself, my angel. Good or bad, it’s whatever I make it, and with you by my side, I’m sure I can take whatever comes my way. So I’d like to ask a simple favor of you.”
“When you think about the future, please imagine yourself happy, love. Don’t imagine a future in which fear controls your life. Promise me this. And I’ll make a promise to you myself. I’ll be right here next to you as you make that happy future happen.”
Jihyun Kim // V
He was tired.
He was so tired of having to live the life of someone he wasn’t. He was so tired of doing things that didn’t showcase his true self.
It all changed when he met you.
You gave him the courage and strength to show the world who he is. Not V, but Jihyun Kim.
So when he notices the familiar signs of fear in you, he takes action immediately.
He covers the refrigerator with those small magnets with affirmative messages on them, hoping that they will help you see the brighter sight of things on mornings when he can’t be there for you physically.
Through his art, he shows you a side of yourself that you have so conveniently forgotten about - the brave, capable woman that is always ready to help those in need no matter what.
“There is no shame in experiencing failure, darling. It’s just another step toward finding who you truly are. If you allow me to, I’d like to help you embrace it.”
Vanderwood
“You know, bubbles, statistically speaking, failure is inevitable.”
Even though he doesn’t wanna hurt you, not at all, he wants to help you understand failure is an inevitable part of life, even if that means he’s the one that gives you the reality check he believes you need.
Despite this, he sometimes finds himself quite mad at the people who treated you in a way that caused you to develop a fear of failure.
If it was up to him, he wouldn’t let you talk to them more than once every few months, but he trusts you can handle them.
Instead, he focuses his energy and efforts on actually helping you deal with your fear before it turns into something that could possibly leave permanent scars on you.
“Steady progress is still progress, bubbles. If you ask me, it’s way better than impulsive action, because you’re actually in control of it.”
Heavily relies on actions to help you. Not a man of many words, after all.
Celebrates all your victories with your favorite dish.
“Don’t look at me like that! You deserve this, bubbles. “

• KIM TAEHYUNG •
→ ONE SHOT ←
Moon is just a mere stone that's encircling the earth all the time. Ever thought why? Yeah I admire the purity of moon and sun but that doesn't hide the fact that there can be complications in there relation apparently it feels that they broke up for a short term and the moon is trying to move on. The love of moon is so pure that it can't let go the beguiling bundle of greenery ǝɐɹʇɥ. Even sun gets jealous admiring there love but what can he do? His love for moon is eternal.
Just imagine if the moon ever had a human shape how romantic he or she could be? Like she listens to millions of sad, romantic and forbidden love stories. Now don't tell me that you haven't talked to moon not even once cause everyone does.
It was usual night in Seoul the heart of South Korea where you were sitting near the window, praising the beauty of moon. The small patch of wood that was enlarged to a platform near the window was only for you- owning the fact the since you were a little bundle of joy you loved to admire the beauty but then failed to see the beauty in you. Everyone surrounding you always complimented you about being ravishing but you never took it to your heart cause you never saw yourself like that. Everyone except you were beautiful that's what always chimes in your little head.
"Moonie, how was your day?", dancing your legs out the window you asked to the only genius friend moon.
"I still childishly hope that you would reply me sometime ", a low chuckle escaped from your mouth following but a lonely sigh.
"Moonie I really do hope life was as easy as eating a cake", tugging a starry piece of hair behind your ear finally deciding to look for the moon you were talking to.
"Isn't it frustrating to see people you trust and admire the most kicking you off like some piece of trash?", the memories of your mother abusing you for being born rushed chip wise like some dramatic movie.
"Am I the one at fault for being this weak? Lonely outcasts herself everywhere?", tears now bottling up in your eyes cup wetting the long black lashes and staining your pink cheeks to red.
"Anyhow I have given up the thought of being happy ever again and I truly miss tae, wish he was here", pouting your lips while clutching harder on your jacket you mildly whispered.
It was still tragic how tae was no where to be seen after you approached him, cursing yourself for that incident had became your night routine. If only if you could keep those useless butterflies in you he would have been with you, cuddled in your pink sheet and hugging you for his dear life.
"Moonie what would've you done if as ugly potato as me kissed you all of sudden? Run away right?! Mmm I don't blame him", even though small smile was dancing along your enlarged lips why were your eyes watering?
Only you know the way your heart quenchs if someone mentions him, only if it weren't of you he would have been happier. Such a dumbass.
But all your thoughts were chopped off as the rippling sound strikes your ear, it was so uneven and you normally turned back to have a clear view on what's happening and suddenly you room was enlightened with a white following with blue strokes of luminous light.
And a big figure walked out directly from your mirror, on the other hand you were so caught up in awe that your body couldn't even suck the oxygen embracing you.
Unexpectedly the light dimmed down and now you could get closer and clearer view at who he was.
His grey locks tousled in all direction, ravishing grey bangs covering his forehead which you bet is more mesmerizing, his eyes were like a pair of blue roses dipped in white of his eye. Pointed noise which seemed out the world to have one with that adorable mole beneath it trying to hide from your glare but failed desperately, those heart shaped lips awaking storm of butterflies in pit of your stomach. White shirt protecting him like some kinda of angel while black pants were giving him some demon alike vibrations. In short he was ethereal, out of the world and you sat there worshipping him.
But realization hit you hard that's when your mind proceeded that it was non other than Kim taehyung, your childhood bun bun and your secret crush not secret anymore cause you literally forced yourself on him at the day of graduation.
"T-tae", you half breathingly rasped.
"Yes love that's me", he said will settling besides you. The same fruity fragrance filling your senses allowing you to believe that this is real not just a pretty lie.
He was the same but yeah his astonishing features were like updated, looked more mature and inviting.
"How-when", your tongue was so weak at that very moment that it couldn't utter a sentence that someone could make sense out of it.
So much to ask but what could you actually do? Your loyal tongue was pointlessly betraying you.
"I was scared", he uttered wisely.
"Scared?", confusion creeping through your nerves whilst tilting your head to a side you cross questioned him.
Scratching the back of his neck he somehow delivered the thing that he was nervous, it was his habit since high school.
"I was scared to love you, loose you so the only way that came across my mind was to return to the place where I belong ", nibbling on his bottom lip he stated.
You being the confused little bean couldn't grab any thing that he was telling you.
Brushing your check with his usual 'cold' palms along with that boxy smile he leaned in and kissed your forehead in the most lovingly manner.
"Y/n...i don't belong here, I'm from whole different world that's beyond that mirror", he exclaimed.
You would never believe if someone would come up to you and tell you angels exist but in that very moment you were witnessing one right besides you.
"You mean that your not from earth?", you asked while gently grasping his hand that's located on your cheek, applying little pressure on it so you could dearly feel him and his 'coldness'.
"Mmm not from this earth, I belong to another earth like planet I guess and I accidently run through and found you", he mildly kissed the tip of your nose. Scarlet red of blush was blooming through your entire body.
"How did you discover about this earth? As in I remember you were only 10 when I first met you and how could you get in the same high school as me?", blinking your eyes twice or thrice you mumbled.
"I have my own ways ", he proudly replied.
And gradually your eyes rolled back cause you were well aware with this 'so full of himself taehyung'.
"Ok so I'm only telling you this because its you ", he paused and you responded with slight nod.
"I was the prince of dragon and roses and now am the king, so when I was younger and was pissed with my father's rude behavior towards me. I ended up running through the thick forest in our territory where I met this long mirror which was towering over a tree of 'purple' flowers", he stopped to inhale and found a bewildered you.
Yeah why wouldn't you be shocked? It's like listening to a fairy tale! At first you seemed like 'I don't deserve taehyung cause he is hell of beautiful' but now he is a king! And you potato who stuffs pizza and ice cream together!
But somehow you calmed your impulsive nature and tried to hear him out, yep you totally believed him that's how in love you were with him.
Love is a deal of happiness where you get hurt for free until he's the one who won't hurt you.
"Are you ok y/n?", genius worry was coated all over his 'inhuman' features.
" Y-yeah , I'm fine. Please continue ", you stated in matter of fact.
"Hm and that mirror wasn't showing my refection but was showing someone so aesthetically fascinating which was non other than you and at that instant moment i fell for you hard and couldn't control the enthusiasm to know you more and ended up being your best friend while that was until you kissed me, evoking all the feeling in me for you and I had to run back to the place I belong ", all you could was to feel guilty.
"I'm sorry ", you disheartenedly whispered.
"No why are you sorry?", he asked while forcing you to look in his eyes and you did to see how the blue pair of orbs were shimmering the love and adoration for you.
"I was so childish to kiss you back then... ", you chimed.
"Then let me be the childish one now",
and before your brain could actually proceed what he exactly meant his cold pair of lips were attached to yours.
You had no ability to push him, waiting for him was a punishment and honestly you were about to give up on the thought of his comeback but see here you are in his embrace kissing him with the same amount of passion as his.
"Be my queen, be with with me when i wake up in the morning, hug me when am exhausted and kiss me when I need it", he muttered parting a little before trailing his feather like kisses down your neck and sucking harder there just marking you as his.
It didn't take long enough for both of you to get bare for each another. His skin white and pale but never failed to shine in the luminous of moon.
The way your body fixed with him was so pleasing for the moon to sit out side your window and admire, his well built body rolling across your fragile ones. With every stroke of his body you could see the sun shining in winters and snow melting in summer.
"Will you be my queen, y/n?", he mumbles about you head while you were snuggled in his chest. Tired.
You rise your head to meet his blue eyes enchanting once.
"What if I reject your proposal", smiling sheepishly you responded.
"I the king of dragon and roses order you to marry me ", he claimed in his husky deep voice which indeed sent a few cold vibes down your spin.
"Lol, you may be the king in your planet but right now I rule this room", you mocked him.
"Oh really?", he hovered over you and you just giggled in rejoinder.
Cupping his cold cheeks, smiling ever so happily and those magical trio slipped through your mouth.
"I love you", you finally said those words that you were craving to say.
He faintly smiled.
"I love you to the moon and back ", he said and kissed you.

[0.2 KSG] Third Wheel Syndrome
Another old short story! This time, Kimberly Williams gets interviewed for a lame job that’s about to change her life. Being a mall cop doesn’t sound quite so lame when you’re working for an international private security firm. Actually, that still sounds totally lame -- but Kim is into it anyway.
Top Secret Notes:
Paige Newport is only a “Security Captain” by name. She’s actually goes by a totally different rank -- but, I’ll save that for later! For now, she’s the oldest on the crew, she’s a by-the-book agent that doesn’t like fraternization. But, she’ll put up with it because...
Dakota Stanton is Paige’s best agent. Dakota is always optimistic, eager to find the best traits in everyone she meets. Even if those people are as flaky and dorky as Kim.
Khoros, or KSG (Khoros Security Group) are a global-scale private military company that work for some pretty sketchy characters. There’s more to Khoros than a sinister name.
Click “Keep reading” to see the full story.
[Unedited Writing: Read at your own risk!] "You have to come with me." The white-jacketed woman demanded of her boss. With a high sweep of blonde hair, tied into a ponytail, she projected a gentle professionalism -- not nearly as intense as her boss. "If I go alone, you know I'll just say yes." Dakota Stanton begged. Paige Newport, the 'Security Captain', listened carefully. "You won't need me." She tersely replied. The dirty-brunette of the Captain, her weather-worn skin and etched features set her apart from the rest of the youngsters she supervised. You're SO cold, Paige Newport. Dakota thought privately. Due to the lack of on-site personnel, Dakota Stanton took on the unenviable position of hiring manager. She had the authority to select local talent for their "Hopkins-Weller Medical Facility" operations. Just another soon-to-be abandoned building with secrets nobody outside the Tribune needed to know -- or worse yet, unleash accidentally. More secrets to bury. The Khoros Security Group, Dakota begrudgingly admitted, had become quite good at burying secrets lately. "She's a candidate for guard duty. She won't need society security clearance. If she doesn't work out, we'll fire her. Simple." Paige Newport explained, looking up from her clipboard, assessing the situation in her calmly straightforward manner. Dakota cringed, "You know how much I hate firing new people. It SO feels like I failed them." Paige barked orders to a pair of jumpsuits haphazardly milling about the growing storage zone, a fleet of 18-wheelers lined up at the medical facility's U-shaped concrete road, still more Khoros men in grey overalls collecting equipment, loading the crates and containers into the train, swiftly emptying the building of anything truly valuable. Dakota watched too, following Paige, deftly checking forms on her tablet, tapping to mark orders fulfilled for their Secret Society stockholders -- a dozen gestation tubes, fifty gallons of metamorphic fluid, and a whole bunch of Windows Vista PC towers. We can't all be on the cutting edge, Dakota thought. Dakota and Paige knew each other well. Trusted each other. If only Paige wasn't so stubborn! And anti-social. Dakota flashed a bright grin, "How about coffee? Let's get a coffee tomorrow, before our shift starts. You know, plan our next move." "Right. The usual place. See you at sun's up." Dakota hated to trick Paige, but what other options were left? And Paige needed this! All work and no play, yadda-yadda, right?
"So, do you have any experience with security?" Dakota asked politely. Coffee served, the shoppe buzzed with quiet activity. Biscuits for everyone, the city outside still cloaked in the early-early morning dark. Men in suits or plaid or overalls, dragging their feet across the hard wood, desperate for that pick-me-up to get the day started. "it's so early..." Kim groaned, slumping her shoulders, eyes half-lidded. Not an early-to-bed, early-to-rise type, I see. Dakota Stanton took note. On the other hand, she is going to be on the night shift, so maybe this is an asset! Dakota searched for the bright side -- that was just her. Paige tweaked her brow. Not annoyed, but absolutely disappointed. She remained professionally silent for the meeting, choosing not to reply, her glare doing enough talking. "I'll take that as a 'no'." Dakota swallowed. She could feel Paige's bristling annoyance over her shoulder. She tried to avoid thoughts of the future -- a future where Paige Newport refused every single one of Dakota's future coffee offers. "Why do you want to work for Khoros? My associate, Tobi Vasquez, told me you traveled a long way for this opportunity." As if flipping a switch, Kimberly lit up. "I got prior experience." She nodded confidently, "An' Tobi said that? Ain't she sweeter than iced tea." "Prior experience?" Dakota asked, her confidence renewed. "So you've worked for them? Or... a family member, maybe?" "Somethin' like that! One day they totes knocked on my door an' asked a buncha' questions. But I didn't say nothin'." Kimberly proudly explained. Now that's a strange story, I'll have to ask about that later. Make note. Sharply, Paige interrupted the proceedings. She asked the only question that really, truly matters. "Can you start working tonight? Can you follow instructions? Yes or no." "Duh!" Kim chirped, raising her hands. "And, duh! Er. Yes!" Dakota sunk in her chair. Paige! Did you really have to upstage me like that? Dakota silently admitted, mall cop duty didn't really require the best of candidates. She grinned brightly anyway. "Well, uhm, you're hired! I'm the Hiring Manager, so I guess I'll walk you through your duties. We can get into it today. It's really very simple. There are step-strips that monitor the different patrol routes, and you'll live on the premises. A small skeleton crew of former employees and security live in the dormitory. I'll be there too, so if you have any questions-" Enthusiastically, she interrupted. "Can I start asking questions now?" She raised her hand, for extra emphasis. "Sure?" Dakota squeaked out, surprised, but happy to see this new level of enthusiasm. Though, she wasn't quite prepared for the lengths and depths of Kim's curiosity -- especially for the uniforms. To Kim's annoyance, Dakota explained that their guard uniforms were, essentially, store bought from a national manufacturer. She didn't want to explain that Khoros provided their true employees with much, much better gear. That kind of information didn't need to get leaked to civilians. Maybe Captain Paige Newport won't chew me out afterall, Dakota hoped.

Character arcs!
Connor: Connor’s character development is about him coming to terms with himself. By the very nature of his existence, he has no confidence or self importance or pride. His perfectionism is through the roof and he never thinks he will amount to anything. What’s worse is that he was created to be this way. He was created to be Imagination, without the arrogance.
Connor originally starts off the comic being in a catatonic state. The first time we see him ‘awake’ is when Cara splits down into Cassidy and Connor for the first time since they escaped the facility (in chapter 2). Here he looks happy and confident and brimming with ideas. This is a facade that he developed with Cassidy’s assistance to try and appear more outgoing and fun to the group. Their situation wasn’t looking up and gazing down the prospect of living in the imagination forever, Connor and Cassidy decided the group may as well have two goofballs rather than Cassidy’s outwardly friendly and badass nature with Connor’s naturally sad and anxious one. Who knows what would have happened if they had chosen to be truthful. (Maybe that’s an idea for an AU..)
As Connor gets to know the group he starts to let his armour crack a little. The first major crack came when Cara was helping Vivian overcome his dysphoria and finally adopt the label of trans. Connor could see the pain and anxiety Vivian was experiencing and could relate it to himself. This lead to him truly trying to help Vivian. And seeing Vivian succeed and grow as a result of his actions only further intensified his feelings of being himself. By the end of Chapter 2, Connor has changed from using a false confident persona to hide his self doubt to accepting it at least on the surface level. He still acts confident but in the gaze of a more ‘fake it till you make it’ kind of way rather than ‘conceal don’t feel’. Eventually as Connor spends more time with Vivian and Lucas (late into chapter 3) he rejects his confident persona altogether, rather just trying to be himself. He is certainly a lot more confident and happy than he was back at the start of chapter 2, although he does have a lot more growing to do. Connor’s self worth is very heavily tied to his boyfriends and friends and when those start to crack, even if it was just in Connor’s head, he starts to doubt himself. Eventually, nearing the very end of chapter 4, Connor’s confidence goes out the window as his friends and boyfriends suddenly stop hanging out with him as much. In reality, Connor was accidentally sending them the wrong information that made them think that he wanted alone time. Thinking that shadow was the only one who he could talk to, we would spend more and more time with him. While shadow did help, he wasn’t enough as Connor’s actions pushed his friends and family further away. Connor’s mental state deteriorated to the point where he outright asks for shadow to take the pain away (I.e. possess him) thinking it would be better for his friends if he was someone else. But because of the nature of his soul (only being half a soul) he cannot fully relinquish control, and we finally reach the climax of Connor’s character arc, his breakdown. Connor glitches out with shadow’s corrupted code and his form becomes unstable and volatile. Even though he cannot shapeshift, his form changes in line with his emotional state, glitching out to all hell and turning him into an enormous fuck you dragon that starts destroying the island. The fragments decide that the best course of action is to take Connor out (just to get him to differentiate himself because they know that if Connor differentiates his form then shadow and Connor will separate and they they will be able to hash things out. Yes we get a dragon fight. Yes I want it to be awesome. When Connor is defeated it takes a few weeks for him to reform. When he does, he is immediately swarmed by his friends who explain the situation of what happened to him and how they aren’t mad or unhappy with him and just the whole situation get’s resolved. Connor starts to get better with all the attention he’s getting from his friends and eventually even starts to gain his own, non-artificial confidence. We start chapter 5 on a high note, with Connor in a much healthier place mentally and with his magic flourishing, just in time for him to act as the main mentor for his human protege.
Jackson/shadow: Most of shadow’s plot stuff can be found in the previous post but perhaps not his motivations. Shadow’s level of consciousness depends on how much magic he is exposed to. He doesn’t have a role to play until around the end of chapter 3 where, at first his motivation is to get stronger, and later his motivation is to be noticed by the group. When he succeeds in this, and Cecil goes hunting for him, he plays a game of cat and mouse until Cecil finally has him cornered (literally) with seemingly no way out. As shadow thinks of his situation more as a game, he refuses to accept defeat and rather in one last effort to ‘win’ he possesses Cecil. From here, his personality becomes more and more childish. He treats possessing Cecil like a game of pretend. He’s trying not to get caught because when he does, it’s game over. This lasts for a while until the real Cecil comes to confront him. Here he maintains his childlike demeanour, and rather challenges Cecil to get his body back. He sets the terms of the challenge as such: ‘I’m going to keep pretending to be you, until you convince enough of the others to, what’s the word you use, dissipate me? Then I will gladly give you your body back. But good luck trying to convince your friends when they can’t even see you.’ Eventually shadow does lose, and not only that, he his banished back into the generator. This is one of shadow’s lowest points. He tries to get the attention of the fragments by messing with their electronics but now they know what he wants, they refuse to play along. Shadow is just left alone to wallow in his own self pity. Occasionally either Cecil or Lucas will go in to perform maintenance on the generator, but now they will never engage with shadow. Instead they will fix it then leave, always being escorted by either Mika or Connor. Shadow would have stayed isolated if it wasn’t for Mika. One day, when nobody was around to stop them, they stole one of Cecil’s communicators and placed it down on the ground for shadow to speak into.
The conversation starts off hesitantly, as Mika doesn’t know if shadow can even talk through this thing, but once he gives shadow the instructions on how to work it, their conversation takes off. Mika goes back to the cave with the communicator every so often to check up on shadow. With the interaction, slowly shadow’s English gets better and he becomes more civil and less edgy and childish. While Mika cannot see shadow, they do know of his presence through the various devices at their disposal. Eventually Mika lets other people know of their secret conversations with shadow. While their skeptical at first, eventually most of them come around. Skylar was the first one they showed it to. Then from Skylar came Kim and Cassidy. Mika was hesitant to tell Lucas and his boyfriends but he eventually plucked up the courage to tell them. Lucas said that he knew, he always kept tabs on his devices and found it quite suspicious when he noticed which ones were missing suddenly and easily put two and two together. He was happy for shadow to be welcomed into the group, even if he didn’t fully trust him. Vivian was not on board, and neither was Connor, but eventually they calmed down enough to see shadow as more of a friend than a rival. Because they could not see him however, shadow found it easier to just stay in the cave. He did try coming out to join in with some of the group’s activities, except he could never join in fully and was often accidentally ignored. At one point, he assisted Lucas with the nature of his existence, along with being able to provide some more lore details that Lucas hadn’t been able to gather from his trip to the laboratory.
But as the group progressed, sometimes they would just forget about shadow. Not thinking to go down to the cave to see how he was doing. At this point shadow dreams of having a physical form but doesn’t tell anyone because he doesn’t want to burden them. (You know, I think I may change something about his role. I think that with extreme exposure, characters may start to glitch. I like that, ima keep that idea.) It was only when Connor was at his lowest that shadow would finally be visited again. Shadow liked to help Connor, but he wasn’t very good at it. He was also kinda nefarious in his motivations, trying to keep Connor away from his friends so he would come and talk to shadow. Eventually he started to feel bad as Connor’s situation worsened, eventually pleading to Connor to go get help, but with Connor refusing him and saying that they would never understand. When Connor offered for shadow to possess him, he had to think about it. On one hand, he desperately wanted a physical body and Connor desperately wanted to be able to just stop existing for a while. On the other hand, Connor needed help, and shadow possessing Connor’s body was not going to give him that help. If anything, Connor was pleading with shadow to possess him. (I may even go as far as to make it that Connor threatened to ‘take a wander in the imagination’ or to differentiate himself a few too many times if shadow didn’t possess him) So shadow did. You already read what happened with that whole situation above, but shadow was spending the entire time trying to calm Connor down, but failing. His voice of reason being pushed to the back of Connor’s mind from the sheer number of negative thoughts (yeah, Connor’s very angsty).
Eventually Connor gets differentiated and shadow goes back to the waiting void. Connor explains how shadow wasn’t the reason for his transformation. It was all him, and pleads for his friends not to demonise shadow. They agree and say that they weren’t planning on it anyway. Shadow had told them after the incident what was happening, and they just needed Connor’s confirmation. (I think ima go back and change another something with Connor’s pleading. Earlier on in their interactions, shadow would have actually told Connor that he was desperate for a physical form, and that sparks the whole possess me bit) Connor expresses shadow’s desire to have a physical form and so Lucas gets to work on it. Until then, shadow gets a temporary form of a hologram that will display a humanoid shape that would act as his stand in for events until they could find out why he couldn’t form and get it all working so he could. He also starts working on getting a name at this point. The group hang out more, Jackson as he is now called is involved in the group games and activities, spending time with his friends. While he couldn’t interact with any objects yet, at least it was like the group could see him. It felt better. It was actually during one of those game nights where Logan finally figured out a method to give Jackson a physical form. The game night was abandoned pretty quickly after the realisation so Logan could go and work on the idea. It took maybe a week or so, but finally the machine was complete.
Jackson’s form was corrupted. Because he was made of pure magic when he first formed he did not have the ability to form into a human shape. This was due to the fact that he didn’t have a defined soul. The fragments had all received time to refine their souls after they had been ‘extracted’ and were given time to form. Jackson was not given these conditions, and yet he had still managed to refine his soul. It just wasn’t physical. If they could give him a vessel to inhabit, an empty one, then they would be able to integrate him into this new data and he would become physical. Finally being able to put the raw magic that had put them all into this situation in the first place to good use, Jackson’s void soul was made in the shape he desired, the preparations had been made, and with a solid two minutes of high voltage raw magic being pumped into the machine, and with the void suddenly sporting a vibrant orange hue, the group commended their final test. (Another thing here, the experiment will 100% have been volatile. I want there to be suspense here obviously, so yes there will have been a chance for it to have not worked. Just as there was also a chance for Jackson to have died, but also, why would I kill off such a fun character. Come on.) The group fired up the communicator and listened for their conformational words.
‘Jackson, are you there?’ Lucas asked.
There was radio silence for a good few panels before a voice came through the communicator, Jackson’s voice. Speaking for the first time.
‘I’m here.’ He said
The group would go manic as they knew the procedure had worked. Of course it would take a few days for his soul to fully integrate enough to form, but the first steps were done.
The next time we would see Jackson would be when he forms. Lucas would be in his lab, just tinkering on a project with a coffee when he sees a bright orange light emanating from Jackson’s soul. Recognising what this meant, he immediately called everyone in to the lab. Once everyone was assembled, they waited with baited breath as Lucas removed Jackson’s soul from the stasis chamber. And suddenly in a burst of white light (which obviously I will drag out onto several panels because drama) Jackson was standing there before the fragments, fully physical. He looked down at his hands, and moved his feet, feeling the ground and the air particles. Then he started to cry tears of joy and everyone goes over to hug him because gosh darn it this scene. ;w;
As for Jackson’s personality, he’s an outgoing extrovert. He gets along the best with Kim, Mika, Connor and the human researchers when he meets them in chapter 5. He loves anime and food and magic use and thrills like the zip line. He does stay on the island most of the time but in the epilogue, he will basically be adopted into the researcher’s friend group.
Jackson is also simultaneously the youngest and the oldest fragment. Which I just find funny.
Okay, that’s already a lot of text and I feel burnt out. I’ll have to work on the other 6 later

Take A Break
Pairing: Jumin x MC
Genre: Fluff…I guess..
Word count: 1,398.
Summary:
It’s been a while since Jumin had the time to take a break from his work, and the world in general, so being the sweet spouse MC is, they decided to surprise their husband and gave him the time to just breath…
-----
After signing the last set of papers that needs approval in his office, Jumin checked with his assistant, Jaehee, if there was still work left for him to do. And to his surprise, his assistant answered him that he has no more work left to do, in a gleeful tone in fact, which was a bit odd knowing that an important meeting was to be held in a few weeks.
Though having his doubts, he decided to trust his assistant, since she had been doing her job for a long time now, and so well in fact, specially these past few weeks. So he grabbed his coat and asked Jaehee to call his driver, Mr. Kim.
As he stepped out of the elevator for it reached the ground floor, wherein Jeahee told him where driver Kim will be waiting, like he usually does, he was surprised to see his spouse waiting in the waiting area near the lobby, knowing that these days, they seemed to be busy with work related things, since they are always either on their laptop working or outside, doing something, well… work related.
He never really dared to ask, since they seemed like they wanted to keep it a secret, and Jumin respected that. But that doesn’t stop him to be curious.
“Jumin!” they greeted him with a hug as he approached them. “How was work?” they asked, pulling themselves a bit back, but not letting go of the hug, to look at his eyes
“It was surprisingly very easy today. Though pardon me for asking, my love, but what brings you here?” He asked, staring back at their eyes with curiosity.
They pulled up a smile and said “I was around the area, and decided to surprise you.”
“Well” he untangled his hands just below her back, in order to lightly tap his finger against their nose. He once watched that on a Rom-com drama and had been secretly wanting to do it to his MC because he found it… cute. “You never failed to surprise me every single day I woke up beside you.”
They got flustered and turned bright red at his cute act and his sweet words, but tried to quickly recover in order to correct him. “T-the… words are…very sweet. But I’m afraid this is not the full surprise that I wanted to give to you…”
“Oh really?” he tangled his hands once again at their lower back while raising his eyebrow.
They hummed their approval and broke off the hug only to extend their hands, and reach for his. “Only if you were to follow me that is.”
“Anywhere” He said as he gripped their hands in return.
They quickly guided him to the car that Jumin was to ride in the first place. He was about to tell Driver Kim to let them guide the way where they wanted to go, when they decided to take matters in their hands and told the driver themselves.
“Driver Kim, you know where to take us” they said, looking at Jumin with a bright smile.
The driver started out the engine and maneuvered his way to the place that they apparently talked about.
The whole ride, they both just talked about the generic things they usually talk about, such as Elizabeth the 3rd, the upcoming RFA party, and both of their days in general. Though Jumin realized that the place that they were talking about were in the outskirts of the city, only to realize once again that it was way further than that.
He was starting to get worried if they were lost and all, but MC were seemingly relaxed for that matter, and driver Kim was not the kind of employee to make mistakes, so he decided to just trust the both of them.
When the car finally stopped. They asked Jumin to not look outside yet and close his eyes, in order to fully surprise him. In return for him doing so, they reached out their hands and held his, in order to guide him walk towards the place.
After a while of thinking he decided to do as told, and to his surprise, once more, MC was a good guide. He did not trip once when they were guiding him.
Once they reached the certain point of the place that they wanted him to see. They gave him a counting start in order to open his eyes. All of these of course while still holding his hands.
“3…2…1… you can open them now”
Jumin slowly opened his eyes, blinking once or twice in order to fully regain his sight. But once he did… He was breathless. The white sand he stood on scattered with tiny shells, the city from afar illuminated with lights, and the dark blue sea, glistening, as it reflects the lights from the moon and the stars up above.
He knew he loved nature, but this made him love it even more ,as the view was breathtaking and he was enjoying this moment alongside the love of his life, with his hands intertwined with theirs’. This made him feel as if the weigh of the world was gone off his shoulder.
He looked at them, only to see them looking at him back. “This is beautiful…” he commented.
A sigh of relief escaped their lips. “I’m glad you think so.” They said with a smile on their face. “Since I was a tad bit anxious as to what your opinion would be regarding this place.”
“Of course this place is beautiful, but with you, you make it prettier than it actually is.” He replied as he placed the hand he was holding their hands with around their shoulders.
As if on cue, they placed their head on his shoulder and grabbed on his waist. “I’m really glad you think so since I wanted to cheer you up, even if it’s just a little bit.”
He shifted his head to look at their eyes, now looking far off the distance. “Cheer me up?” he asked.
They looked a bit up in order to meet his eyes. “well, yeah… since you’ve been busy these days.” they moved their chin atop of his shoulder. “Earlier, when you asked me, why I was at your company, I kind of lied, by saying I was around the area.”
He raised an eyebrow and pulled out a smirk. “and why is that?”
They removed their head on his shoulder so they could look at him properly. “well, I was, indeed, at the area, not just outside of the company, I was inside. Specifically speaking, I was at Jaehee’s office” they positioned themselves in front of him. “You see, I was helping Jaehee nowadays with her work, though she asked me not too ,though I still insisted, in order to clear out a day off for you so you can just have a break.” they paused.
“So all the time you were doing said ‘work related’ things were all…” he said
“Yup, me helping Jaehee with her work, in order to lessen your work.” They continued. “Though I failed at the whole day off thing, since I only let you leave work earlier than usual. But at least You get to see this view” They said with a smile.
Jumin remembered all the night where MC was sleeping late and going out of their home frequently in order to finish this said work, only to be revealed to him that it was all for his sake.
They did it all for him. So that he could Take a rest.
Words were not enough to describe as to what Jumin was feeling now. He felt a mixture of happiness, gratitude, relief and every good emotion any human could bear. Quickly enough He pulled them in a tight hug, and his hug being returned by them.
“Thank you MC” he uttered. “for…All the things you do, and will ever do”
They felt more than happy to hear that from him which made them tighten their hug even more “It was my pleasure.”
The rest of the night was spent on them relaxing in each others’ arms, enjoying the view that’s laid in front of them.
This, was more than enough for Jumin to take a break from his stressful environment. He shifted his head once again to look at them.
Truly more than enough.

Keeping Score (Renora Week: Dress Up)
“Stop moving.”
Ren sighed. If his eyes were open, they would have been rolling. A soft sponge coated in green foundation patted away at his once olive complexion. This had been going on for a good few minutes. He felt the skilled hands travel under his jaw, so he took it as his cue to open his, now green eyes. His best friend, partner, and girlfriend sat on his lap with her brows scrunched in intense focus.
Her face was patted to a light blue and she temporarily dyed her hair black with a white streak. A stitched scar ran at the bottom of her left eye and she wore black lipstick on her top lip with black contacts. Her costume consisted of a form-fitting, short navy blue lab coat that flared out under a black belt and reached her thighs, black leggings, and matching combat boots and gloves that sat next to her.
Nora had worked incredibly hard in between her classes and the occasional mission to create her costume. To create all of their costumes, actually. Ever since Jaune had gotten them all hooked on Kim Possible, they’d taken to binging it on team bonding nights rather than actually going out. Thus, their team costume for the Hallows Eve party materialized itself in a few weeks time. Pyrrha and Jaune’s costumes were relatively easy and the champion had makeup for herself and Jaune’s freckles. However, Nora never half assed anything and simply made her and Ren’s costumes from scratch. (She really should consider making a career out it. She certainly had the talent.) But that brings us to a female Drakken, or “Drakkene” as Nora called herself, meticulously covering “Hego” in green foundation and contour.
“Drop your jaw,” she commanded lightly. Ren hesitantly opened his mouth. He knew what was coming and they bickered over whether it was truly necessary to wear lipstick. Then his teammates sided against him. Then he lost… Point one for Nora. The cold, black solid brushed against his top lip and glided across, then again to fill in any light gaps. “Do not rub your lips together or so help me, Ren,” she warned. “But, you’re done!” She happily jumped off of his lap to put her gloves on and he did the same. He began to miss the pressure of her weight upon his lap.
Ren stood from his and Nora’s bed to inspect her handiwork. Despite stating that he didn’t mind temporarily dying his pink streak, Nora elected it to stay. It made his costume seem more suited for him, she’d said. Speaking of, the costume itself wasn’t skin tight which was a blessing. It took her hours to sew it in a way that he wasn’t restricted and his “goods” wouldn’t be seen. His boots and gloves were two different hues, black and green. She’d completed his look by styling his hair into gentle waves that morning. His girlfriend always did an amazing job on their costumes, but this one had to be his personal favorite despite the lipstick that he’d be more than happy to remove.
“Ren,” Nora called from the hallway. “Quit checking yourself out so we can take pictures and party!”
~*~
Pictures actually took longer than they thought, especially when RWBY and SSSN and CVFY and Penny and Oscar all decided that they wanted pictures as well. It was quite the spectacle seeing eighteen hunters attempting to squeeze into a front facing scroll before giving up and asking for outside help.
Eventually, after nearly an hour, the group had arrived when the event was in full swing. The ballroom was decked in dark colors with spider webs, blood, and Grimm corpses. Everyone dressed in either actual scary costumes or cosplaying as pop culture figures. RWBY toed the line and accomplished both at the same time.
Ren had given his first dance to Nora, of course, before she quickly jumped off to dance with everyone else. He’d seen her give a dance to Jaune, Sun, and Neptune at some point, but mostly stuck to Pyrrha, Penny, and RWBY. Later, Sky Lark got brave enough to ask her to dance before he was shot down almost painfully. The dark haired man himself had danced with Pyrrha and most of RWBY (the leader herself felt too shy to even ask before he asked her onto the dance floor). However, he mostly stuck to the sidelines watching his girlfriend smile and dance with everyone.
It was hypnotizing, he thought. The way she moved her hips and swung her hair every which way. Her dancing was both erratic and controlled in a way he couldn’t describe. Nora knew how to dance and how to move to any beat -the two of them often learned routines from their favorite Mpop groups together. But when she lacked any set guidelines and she was amongst trusted peers, she liked to hang back and go with the flow of whatever felt right.
“How are you holding up,” the voice of his leader, Jaune took his attention away from his girlfriend who had gotten rather close to a zombified Goldilocks. The young man himself looked a little worse for wear. His hair even more disheveled than normal with a brown top lip marked on his jaw.
“I’m doing well. You seem like you could use a break, though,” Ren replied a smirk gracing his lips.
“Pyrrha has way too much energy. This is the first break I’ve gotten all night.”
“You should use this break to wipe off her lipstick.”
Panic set on Jaune’s face as he excused himself to the bathroom. Ren chuckled and turned back to Nora who now shuffled with Oscar, the latter seeming a tad awkward though still enjoying himself. She laughed and looked in his direction. Black contacts met green ones as she winked at him and turned back to their circle of friends. She said something before separating herself from the clump and skipping her way to Ren.
“Having a real group of friends is actually a little tiring,” she said as she got closer. “I almost wish it were just us again, but then who would I hang out with when you’re doing your meditating thing?”
Ren huffed out a small laugh and turned to get her a cup of punch, but took a small sip to make sure there was no alcohol. He couldn’t have her getting drunk. Once failing to taste anything out of ordinary, he handed her the cup. “I guess you’d have to sit and get bored waiting for me to finish.”
She scoffed. “I’d rather sit in class. At least there’s background noise.” She took a sip of the bright red drink, her tongue lightly poking out to nab a lost drop on her blue, bottom lip. The innocent move shouldn’t have affected him as much at it did, but there he was staring at her plump, black and blue lips. They quirked into a small smirk. “Ren, you’re not good at hiding your stares.”
He looked into her eyes. They dazzled despite her colored contacts. “Well, it took you years to figure out I was even staring in the first place, so I believe I am doing something right,” he gave her a coy smile as though he’d one-upped her in a game. Ren: 1, Nora: 1.
“Oh, but everyone else seemed to notice, so you clearly didn’t do as well as you think.” She gained the upper hand.
“And whom are you referring to?"
Nora gave him an incredulous look and pulled out her scroll. Ren knew that he definitely lost this one. She scrolled through her gallery and began to show him various pictures of him staring at her when she was turned away. "This one was taken by Jaune.” She flicked her finger. “Pyrrha.” A flick. “Yang.” Flick. “Blake.” Flick. “Ruby.” Flick. “Sun.” Flick. “Coco.” Another one. “Os-” He pressed his lips to hers in an effort to gain the leas once more. He was still down by a point.
The female Drakken brought her gloved hands to the back of his neck and pulled at his waves until their lips parted. Bits of blue foundation stuck to his green bottom lip as green foundation stuck to her blue lip. She chuckled and leaned onto her tip toes to reach his ears. “What do you say we leave and turn our makeup teal,” she seductively whispered into his lobes before playfully nipping at them.
After that pick up line, Ren honestly couldn’t take her seriously. His chest rumbled as he laughed and clutched her closer to him. His head lazily fell into the crook of her neck as his laughter got a tad softer since it was muffled. “That was very bad, Nora,” he said once he got a little more control over himself. She definitely lost a point for that. They finally tied.
The blue woman whined and tried to push him away, but his kept a firm hold on her. “I was trying to be sexy,” she exclaimed before lightly swatting his chest. “Bully.” She pouted and crossed her arms. Gods, did he love this girl.
“You don’t have to try for me. I already think you’re the sexiest woman alive.” He kissed her pouted lips and watched as it melted away into a tiny smile. Yet another point for the young man. “Can I still take you up on that teal offer?”
She peered back at their friends, still having a ball before looking back. Something told him that they’d be doing a lot of one-upping for the next few hours.
A/N: God this took so long 😧 There’s bits of fluff. Lots of my headcanons at work here (sorry if Ren is a tad OOC, I tried). I totally think that Ren and Nora have little battles of one-upmanship before it dissolves into either laughs or kisses. Mostly playful fluff with implied NSFW after the ending. Jaune and Pyrrha are dressed as Kim and Ron. Ren and Nora are Drakkene and Hego. Ren’s costume is the same as Shego’s just for males (this is my way of getting out of drawing a trash illustration). The inspiration for Nora’s Drakkene costume came from my favorite Kpop group, Gfriend 😍😍😍, during their Fingertip era (link: https://www.gfsquad.com/forums/topic/2075-170306-starcast-gfriend-jacket-photoshoot-behind/). Dammit, every time I think of Hego, I think of He-man, then I start singing that dumbass song 😒😒😒. I need sleep.
