Tachibana & Kurosawa parallels that are making me go insane

Hey guys so I had some Thoughts that are not letting me go so I did some digging and now I'm gonna present yall with my findings. They are horrible. (Spoilers for volume 14)

So how this all started is me wondering if Kurosawa ever feels a little guilty about entering a relationship with Adachi, since things could've been a lot easier for him if he'd simply gone out with a woman (to him it would've been Fujisaki) instead. He often mentions Adachi could've been happy without him, after all.

Then I remembered this bit from the end of volume 14 about how Adachi doesn't know how to deal with advances because Kurosawa was always intercepting them for him and decided to properly translate all of it.

"Adachi felt guilty, but him not understanding the tactics of love or how to evade invitations is my fault. I don't want anyone to take him away, but I also don't want him to ever learn any of this. Of course I can't tell him that though."

Tactics of love, huh. You mean like...

Giving little compliments... (The phrasing here is almost the same in japanese except Tachibana is using polite speech)

Offering favors...

Invading personal space...

Going "hey you like this thing, why don't we do this thing together?" ...

Helping out when they're weak and vulnerable...

You mean tactics like that? Man it sure is convenient that Adachi remains blissfully unaware of any of this huh. Okay So. Before you raise your pitchforks at me, yes there's obviously some nuance in all of this. Kurosawa is doing all of this to befriend Adachi, first and foremost. He wants to be closer to him because he loves him. Tachibana (as far as I can tell) just wants to get in his pants lmao Also Adachi's a Grown Ass Man and can definitely make his own decisions, and it's not like he got really manipulated either, since he could read Kurosawa's thoughts and intentions the whole time. I could still see Kurosawa having some self-doubts about their relationship though, if he ever realizes that he might have "manipulated" Adachi into a relationship that is objectively worse for him, considering the alternative of being with a woman and completely evading all the problems they've had with homophobia. Not to mention that Adachi is clearly good with kids and might want some of his own, which is something he can't have with Kurosawa, since adoption requires couples to be married in Japan and gay marriage is illegal, as we know. What if Kurosawa ruined Adachi's chances to lead a happy life, for his own selfish reasons?

Now, here come my truly insane speculations about vol 15 and how this could tie in with drama around Matsuura :)

So on that last page she's clearly approaching Tachibana, who, as we can read pages before, wants to get black-out drunk to forget all his romantic woes. Which means he will be very talkative to a nosy Matsuura. There's no doubt in my mind that he'll reveal literally everything to her, how he wanted to go for this cute, inexperienced coworker named Adachi and how he got told to back off by his big scary boyfriend named Kurosawa. "Oh yea they work together at Toyokawa. I even told him it's really risky to date coworkers, can you believe it?!" Matsuura just goes "Oh that is Interesting."

She might even try to get under Kurosawa's skin by drawing parallels to his harassment in vol 1 and him pursuing Adachi, since Kurosawa has a higher position in their company and earns more, and Adachi being inexperienced. One could easily construe this as a power imbalance between them. Throw into the mix the issue of being "forced into a relationship that's looked down upon by society" and the looming threat of their relationship being revealed to their workplace and Kurosawa might truly spiral, maybe even breaking up with Adachi, just to fulfill yet another parallel to Tachibana.

Man would that be fucked up or what haha

a/n: the sunny boy himself... (ugly crying) I LOVE HIM. loosely based off of the scraps of canon that i could find. maybe a little projection... (i am desi) atsv version pavitr! written at midnight and not very edited 💀

For some background, Pavitr was born in Southern India (likely Tamil Nadu or Kerala) so one of his first languages was Tamil! A village / small town boy at heart.

After his parents passed at a young age he moved to Mumbattan with his Aunt Maya and Uncle Bihm (of course) and it is very very different!!!

Obviously Pavitr has to learn Hindi and Marathi properly in order to fit in AND English my boy has to be multi-lingual from the start...

Even from early on Pavitr was bullied because he didn't fit in with the city kids. Gets called pagal Prabhakar (crazy Prabhakar — a bit like puny Parker?) and a slew of other names because of his accent, how he mixes up the languages, and the fact that he lives with his aunt and uncle rather than his parents.

Eventually by the time he's in his early teens he "assimilates" in terms of the language and culture but he's a scrawny kid so he still gets bullied... kids are ruthless bro don't you got the JEE to study for 💀

God forbid if anyone found out about his emo phase at that time... Pavitr's just getting onto social media and when he sees the emo subculture he just takes it and runs. (He stops out of embarassment when his Aunt Maya finds out why he's stealing her kajal... There are photos out there somewhere.)

Also meets Gayatri during his lil emo phase. Definitely a chill popular girl and definitely sticks up for him (it's giving Indian Forest Gump... does anyone know about that adaptation 😭)

He's a bit hesitant about Gayatri at first since the popular kids kind of dogpile on him all the time but eventually they become a little duo and he crushes HARD

Enter hopeless romantic Pavitr he is the embodiment of the song "Love Spell" by Param Pannu (Spotify link it's a BOP)

Plus you know he's in love when he admits he had an emo phase to you... in the middle of his emo phase. (Gayatri has all those pictures saved by the way.)

Then comes Mumbattan Visions Academy!! (according to the wiki that's where he goes.)

Of course we know that Pavitr is quite naturally smart so the entrance exam is no problem (RAFFLE BOY like Miles 😊😊😊)

But he is so super concerned about getting in with Gayatri so a few weeks before the exams they're studying together (doing anything but study)

My girl Gayatri is trying to help him out and he has no idea what she's saying and she's so smart and literally knows twice the amount of info you need to know so my boy Pavitr is sweating BULLETS the day before (exam is so easy he thinks he's sitting the wrong one LMAO)

Pavitr does NOT want to stay at the dorms he'll defo miss his auntie and uncle too much (and his auntie's cooking) but he begrudgingly goes anyway...

Enter NADEESH (his universe's Ned counterpart I totally just made up...)

They're roomies and Nadeesh is from Bengal and they actually bond quite easily considering they're not from Mumbattan he's a STEM boy and has a love/hate relationship with it (super smart though maybe just not at school... gadget stuff 😱)

Pavitr doesn't know a LICK of Bangla but Nadeesh teaches him some perhaps to rizz up Gayatri... (they're all vulgar or swear words or words Pavitr picked up from hearing Nadeesh's mum speak on the phone 💀)

SPEAKING OF GAYATRI yeah she's slaying school and also has a lil modelling thing going on too. STEM girlie and fashion girlie and knows multiple languages (her father knows a couple considering he's an officer)

Pavitr is a hopeless romantic but he's just hopeless when he asks her out in Bangla trying to be cool and doesn't realise he called her a whore... (he's so going to kill Nadeesh.)

She finds it HILARIOUS though and they start dating and everyone lived happily ever after and NO ANCIENT YOGI TIME MY BOY IS SPIDER-MAN NOW 🤯🤯🤯🤯

I think Pavitr's initial approach to being Spider-Man is very... impractical. Given he's just gotten his powers and gotten his naturally buff abilities and always amazing hair (yes that is part of his powers) (yes he asked the yogi for it), he's very spontaneous and disorganised. He probably has the stupidest most impractical suit and sweats like HELL in it (kind of like the one in the comics?) My boy's grades kind of take a hit and so does his little freshman year relationship with Gayatri.

My guy Nadeesh is chill though he knows instantly like Pavitr isn't subtle about it... (they're both night owls and Nadeesh is like cramming asf and Pavitr swings in without thinking and he's just like... "okay dude I have a physics exam tomorrow idgaf 😭 wait but that so cool though can I help—")

Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a— Okay his Uncle Bihm dies. You know how it goes.

Gayatri breaks up with him (it's exam season and she wants to "take a break".) His uncle is dead. He's flunking school (for real this time) Emo phase 2? Maybe not...

Pavitr ends up spending a lot more time with Maya and while he's a little irrationally spiteful he learns the importance of taking care of the little family he has left. Pavitr doesn't have the privilege of that multi-generational village household he had back when he was young, or parents like the rest of his classmates. It's just him and his aunt in that little apartment, a speck in the whole of Mumbattan, the place he has to protect and call home now.

Okay that got sad real fast but HE CHERISHES HIS AUNT hence why he always makes time to have chai with her, no matter how busy he is or how emo he's feeling.

His uncle Bihm had a couple traditional pieces of clothing and Maya makes him try them on. He feels a bit silly especially since he's gotten used to pushing away his culture and mainly speaking English at his new school but then his aunt starts tearing up and he starts tearing up and "you look just like your chacha" and UGH

After a while Pavitr gets himself together and decides to design himself a new suit. He takes inspiration from a couple of his uncle's fancier pieces and also Gayatri's first advert feature (my girl is going places!!!) so his outfit has a lot of meaning to him.

We gotta go BACK for the yo-yo though y'all. I'm so certain that Gayatri had a yo-yo when they were younger and he learnt it just to impress her... SO HE HAS A YO-YO AS PART OF HIS GEAR 😱😱😱

Of course these little signs add up and Gayatri is like half-sure he's Spider-Man (but not entirely cause when she's saved in the film she's a bit taken aback when he hugs her... my girl is smart but you always got a lil uncertainty!!! Maybe she figures it out after that though...)

Obviously he flunked those exams considering he was NOT studying while he was grieving and when Gayatri checks up on him he's of course not doing the greatest despite his little comeback. However...

"I can help you review if you want?" she asks him. Pavitr's smile comes back that day.

But my boy STILL CANNOT CATCH A BREAK because Gayatri's father gets promoted to Police Captain and is suddenly very protective of his daughter

There's a lot of awkward moments where Pavitr has to play off his association with Gayatri (puts the hopeless in hopeless romantic yet again.) No, she never told him they were dating before (and those pictures are in a SAFE trust) though they're not exactly dating now.

Gayatri is pretty indifferent about it all, to be fair. She doesn't exactly care if her father finds out (and hopefully she can tell him soon) but she also doesn't want her dad to be disappointed in her considering she looks up to him a lot.

A BIT OF GAYATRI HEADCANON but I feel like she's very academically gifted but doesn't exactly want to go into STEM? Fashion is her thing and she eventually might want to go into acting (like this girl in her classes called Meera Jain... OUUU rivalry but not really they're besties I fear)

Gayatri definitely gossips and gushes to Meera Jain about Pavitr like how he gossips and gushes to Nadeesh. They both give the other contrasting advice (they're still not together... SITUATIONSHIP 💀💀💀)

It's not as bad as when Pavitr called Gayatri a whore by accident but getting together again is definitely awkward when they go to get lassi at that very overpriced store that opened up that Pavitr most definitely cannot afford (smiles and fights to pay while a part of him dies inside)

Though their relationship is stronger this time! Pavitr does still have his secret as Spider-Man, but things are looking up! Especially when he finds out that he's not the only Spider-Man (ENTER ATSV CANON STORYLINE 😱😱😱)

i don't really know how to explain myself properly but i feel like some people are really concerned about Getting A Good Grade In Succession to the point where they've adopted a very cynical view of tg's relationship because being too earnest about them is ~not the point of the show~ or w/e. which is funny because every other relationship in the show is allowed to be nuanced but not theirs i guess? so you have people going "oh their relationship was only ever about them using each other from the start" when that's demonstrably not true and like. i have really mixed feelings about this season so far and i feel like anything could happen with them by virtue of weird writing choices and i hope with all my heart this doesn't end up being the case but even if the finale tries to diminish the depth of their relationship i don't understand the point of Us acting like there was never anything deeper there? but anyway, all this too say that i agree w/ you that the way people are very cynical and dismissive abt tg specifically has rubbed me the wrong way and thank u for your service ❤️

media is created for us to enjoy. yes it's there to interpret and discuss but it doesn't always have to be that way? literally you can watch the show just for tomgreg and that is A OKAY. why? because you don't have to justify why you like something! surprise! and yeah i've noticed that too - other relationships get to be seen as nuanced, but not tg i guess. idk why, seeing as its dynamic is something to be studied under a microscope and fun to not only shippers but normies too lmao. clearly there is something more interesting to it than just, oh it's mutual corporate climbing.

exactly! there's even more contexts provided by the scripts, THE SACRED TEXTS lol that provide us with more knowledge and insight into the feelings of these characters, that show us that their relationship goes beyond using each other. there is an element of that of course, but that's not all they are. why reduce them to that when so very clearly on paper we are affirmed of what we thought we could read textually on the screen? it just baffles me.

i'm hoping too anon, like A Lot. from the looks of the trailer i have a. i have a little bit of hope. even if say, tom has to choose between greg and shiv, if he chooses shiv and has visible trouble with it, like it takes him time, it plagues him, it takes effort, it feels like a real decision affecting his life, like. that counts for something you know? that would, to me, not diminish his relationship with greg. obviously it would be heartbreaking after how loyal greg has been to tom, but the very fact that it would be difficult to tom would mean that greg is important to him in some fashion, and the show would be at least acknowledging it by doing that. like, it's that easy. i ain't asking for much. i know what i'd like, but what i would be satisfied/settle with, well i think the bar is reasonable, you know?

You know what will be fun when Amon and Sasaki get to hang out as colleagues? Sparring sessions! Because, even if Sasaki doesn't remember ever fighting Amon, his body definitely does, and even though the prosthetic throws him off (maybe he feels too guilty to fight properly at first, and Amon and Akira tell him off for letting his guard down), he and Amon quickly fall into a pattern, and it feels disturbingly natural to read each other's movements. Sasaki doesn't understand why (Amon does or highly suspects), but in contrast to everyone else's instinctual fear of Sasaki when he fights, facing Amon as an equal feels amazing, and it gets even better when they learn to fight as a team. (It also leads to plenty of UST between them, to Amon's eternal mortification, Sasaki's confused embarassment and secret delight, and Kaneki is EXTREMELY conflicted about all this and increasingly jealous.) Akira also feels a complicated mix of wariness (the higher ups like the teamwork but they won't appreciate it if it becomes anything intimate, NO OFFICE ROMANCE WITH THE HALF-GHOUL!), slight jealousy (from her lingering feelings for Amon combined with a growing protectiveness of Sasaki; she tries to repress both feelings) and reluctant amusement (they are both DORKS it's hilarious to watch and they give her so much teasing material, it would be a shame not to use it).

YEAH ALL OF THIS,

Haise probably holds back a bit at first (almost as if he's scared of... something (losing control, like Kaneki was, like Kaneki did)), but like you said he would definitely be told off for it. It's equal parts kinda frightening and impressive to see how in-sync he and Amon seem to be though, whether they're sparrings against each other or fighting as a team. They turn out pretty evenly in terms of who wins, and they coordinate almost scarily well, especially with how they're capable of covering the others' weak points (while it's debatable how many opportunities they do get to fight together specifically, I'd like to think that they've practically saved the other more than once, lol)

Maybe Arima comments on it offhandedly once whlie he and Haise are sparring, to which Haise doesn't really know what to say, he just kinda laughs it off and is like "Yeah, it is strange isn't it?" (Meanwhile, in the background: This is all the more reason why Amon has such an important role in leading the squad if Haise does lose control. This is also all the more reason why it's important that they don't get too close. They make an impressively efficient team and it's quite morale boosting to see how they fight in all honesty, but they're also keeping an eye on them)

Also YEAH they're so awkward at times definitely I think both Akira and Juuzou would poke at them (mostly Amon. Poor guy) for it a lot (I think Juuzou in general takes a lot of enjoyment out of All of this. Especially because HE KNOWS, He knows who Haise is and was also there when Amon let him go at Kanou's Lab when he was Eyepatch, He Knows Everything (and he probably elbows Amon about it a lot (bro has to take a lot of shit for this can you tell LMAO), Amon would probably offer him more of Haise's donuts so he won't try and start rumors or cause trouble about it, though that doesn't stop him from giving Amon "I Know What You Are" looks or saying things that make him want to sink through the Floor), they're both like peak office entertainment to him. Akira, like you said, shares some of that amusement too, she's just far more cautious and weary, and conflicts with some of her other personal feelings. I can imagine a scenario with Juuzou saying something along the linss of "Sasaki and Amon are growing awfully close lately, huh?" and Akira nodding along, with a very subtle grimace)

And then there's poor Kaneki in the background of everything, watching from the shadows, there's probably too many emotions going on for this man to name at this point HAHA

first of all, oh my gosh, I'm literally honoured hshshsh you tried to read my book??? gonna break down right here pleaseee thank you😭

okay I'll try to get to it as well as I can, I hope it'll help at least a bit. you can always message me or send more asks <3 under the cut because its long

making the character be good, have a personality that's actually theirs is probably the hardest thing in writing. it's a bit easier in fanfiction than original work because you see them acting on stage and you see the headcanons so you have a base for it, let's say. but it's still hard. id say there are three ways of approaching this. going off vibes, projection and careful scheming and planning.

going off vibes would be just "okay he does on stage that, so i think he'd act like that off stage", pretty simple, going mostly with your guts yk

projection can go a long way. two ways actually. you can write a character that similar to you or you can write a character that is something you're lacking. of course you can mix it all, but thats the best i can describe it. my rain is me, my dew is me, my swiss and mountain is what i wish i had. caeril is me, neithan is me, etc.

careful scheming and planning is also a good way but if done wrong the character is not gonna feel real, its gonna be dry and just fake. what i mean by that is finding a character sheet with physical characteristics as well as personality traits and thinking it all over, carefully planning what you want the character to be. i myself don't do that, it feels too... artificial for me. if used correctly, tho, it can really slay because then the character can be very well thought over

you gotta try different things, u dont have to write a big 10k word fic right away. you can if you want of course but id say start with one shots, make them your character sheets. do some character study, create them and then put them into a biger picture. it takes time and practice, as evereything

the thing with show dont tell is also a thing of practice. theres no rules as to what info you should keep and what is unneccessary. show dont tell doesnt mean just show, never tell. telling isn't wrong, but writing should put the reader's brain to work, they should be seeing what you saw when you were writing. the best way to do this is basing on the senses. when writing a sentence and you doubt if its necessarry, ask yourself "okay if i was a reader what does this sentence give me? does it give me anything? what senses does it influence? does it help me paint the scene in my brain?". gotta go with feeling and overtime youlll find the perfect balance between showing and telling descriptions and that'll be your style. i make my works pretty descriptive and easy to imagine for the readers because i started with tolkien. i aspired to be like him which is of course impossible but slivers of his writing style can be seen in mine. one of those slivers is rich descriptive imagery

pacing the stories is also really hard. main rule is to not make it boring, but how to achieve it? lmao its not that easy fr. if you do an oneshot you can keep a standard introduction-main part-conclusion structure. first paint the situation, paint the place where this is happening. main part should be the longest, this is what IS your work, the most important thing. conclusion can be slow and short. tell the reader how the main part of the text changed something from the introduction, just nicely close it out. of course you dont have to, we love open endings but this is the easiest thing, id say

with bigger fics, multichapter, go wild. introduction is important but you dont have to put in on the beginning. you can start mysteriously and explain what the fuck its about in te 3rd chapter or even at the very end. build some tension but also give the reader a moment to breathe. the longer the text the more possibilieties you have but overdoing it is not good either, plan it, sketch a storyline. as everything, its a thing of practice and finding your style

and doing all that never forget about the technical bits. good story that has a terrible formatting automatically becomes a worse story because its not nice to look at. learn the proper ways to format a dialogue, work on punctuation, dont forget to capitalize (says me without a single capitalized letter and the worst grammar punctuation and typos in this whole post lmao im trying to type it in quickly sorry). dont be afraid of clicking enter, make space. formatting can also be helful in building tension, short sentences do that. you can highight an information by putting the sentecne with it alone in a line. a lot of things, also style, but you still should keep to the actual rules. treat your work as something great, dont do it half assed. treat it like it'd be supposed to be published, yk?

Meet Accimer, The Schedule Keeper!

Knock Knock, Cha Ching, How Do! Salutations and Hello, People of Tumblr! I uhh...dont exactly know my way around this place just yet, but I'm more than happy to learn! If you've seen me or heard of me before, its likely from the likes of the beloved Dysfunk and they're animation of Moon saying, "Periodt." as I was the voice of Moon in said animation! But that's besides the point, as I've come here today to share with you all my special lad, my Daycare Attendant OC, Accimer!

Accimer is a Daycare Attendant Animatronic who is in charge of maintaining a daily schedule for all the goings on in the daycare! He uses his pocket watch that is attached to his waist via a tether cable to see which kids are due for pick up at what times, and from there he takes them to the pick up area right on time, at the dot! He is also in charge of things like making sure Nap Time happens not a minute sooner than it should, and ends not a minute later than scheduled for.

Now, something to note about Accimer is that his construction was....flawed, shall we say. You see, when originally being produced in Le Factory as it were, the good folks over at Fazbear Entertainment responsible for creating the new animatronics had a bit of an oopsie and mixed up the blueprints for the new schedule maintainer robot with old, scrapped blueprints for a robot of the same purpose. Not realizing their error, the construction crew just went along with it and made Accimer. It was shortly after starting that they had realized their error, however, as many parts of Accimer's body and design are very crude and hodge podged together. Many parts of his body are constructed from S.T.A.F.F bot parts that have been welded together or taken apart in order to form certain parts of his body, including his Hands, Feet (which cannot normally be seen thanks to his boots, but I assure you they are there), and his Shoulders. After a long and very cumbersome construction process, the only thing left to give Accimer was a face plate of some kind. This is when an Executive discovered what was going on and chewed out the construction crew for following the wrong blueprints. Once the lecture was over, one of the crew asked, "What do we do about the face?" to which the angry Executive said, "I dont know! That thing is going in the daycare, right? Just put a moon on it or something for all I care! Meanwhile, I'm going to make some calls to the company to keep us all from getting fired. Oh, and you're all most certainly going to face reprecutions from this mistake. Expected a docked paycheck in the mail next time we pay your sorry asses!"

There's plenty more to his story that goes far more into detail about his creation, of which I am not willing to go into right because uhh... *looks at clock that reads 3:18am*...well, I think it best for my sanity LMAO. That being said, however, you can read his full story here!

Dont worry, there is still something very important about him that I will go over in this post. I wont leave ya too high and dry! You see, Accimer has what I have dubbed, "Animatronic Insomnia." The reason he has this is because of a constant and ever present lack of power at any given time. Unlike the other Daycare Animatronics with functioning charging stations that actually, ya know, charge them at night, Accimer's charging station is in a state of disarray. Old, faded paint that's been chipped away with the passage of time, half of the lights dont work properly and or at all, and the ones that do are about as bright as a Gas Station LED light. This busted up, sorry excuse for a charging station doesn't do Accimer any favors in trying to charge. In fact, he has to fight with it every single night in order to get the damn thing to actually work and depending on how long it takes for him to get the thing to charge him determines how much battery we will get for the day ahead of him. Sometimes he gets lucky and can get it to work within about 25 minutes or so, other times it takes a full hour and a half before it finally kicks on and functions properly. As a result, he can either get up to 75 or even 80 percent or be left with a meesely 37 to as low at 29 percent battery. He's unfortunately never experienced the pure bliss of 100% battery, but he's thankfully never felt the pain of 0% either. Just a mixed amount of real high and real low, babyyyy

The time period that started around the time during the train accident (Lupin Zero extension) was also around the time when Jigen began to garner his reputation for being Lupin’s “right hand man”. Following the accident, Jigen became extremely protective over Lupin, as the boy's demeanor had entirely changed as well as his self-confidence with how people perceived him due to his scarring, as he was still learning on how to properly cover them up with makeup at the time.

As time went on and Lupin slowly healed from his injuries, Jigen took to protecting his blind spot, watching and guarding the side of Lupin that happened to be the side in which he was basically blind. Which turned out to be his right side.

As a result Jigen basically always stuck to his right side like a seeing eye dog. Of course as Lupin grew up and his love for robotics grew, he gathered enough skill to make a prosthetic to help him see instead of just having a false eye, but the habit of staying at his right side was something Jigen never grew out of, so as a result even in adulthood he’s always known as Lupin’s Right Hand Man.

sadly when Lupin had his "accident" in LJS his prosthetic was damaged, so

🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?

I cannot recommend enough just... doing it. Everyone worries so much about it not being good enough, but just like every other skill, you'll never get better without practice and just doing the damn thing over and over again.

Also read a lot. Read fanfic and actual books. You pick up a lot of things as a writer when you're reading other people's work. Sometimes you'll see certain ways of writing dialogue or inner monologues that you love and want to incorporate into your own writing. Sometimes you'll see things that pull you out of the story or don't flow well, and you'll learn that it's something you don't want to include in your writing. All of it is useful.

And MOST importantly, please please please learn how to properly format your dialogue 😭 (this is just a pet peeve of mine, but SO MANY fics don't have proper dialogue formatting)

ex: "This is the correct way to format a spoken sentence," she said sternly. "When you write a spoken sentence followed by a dialogue tag, the dialogue tag is PART of the sentence, so you should end the 'spoken sentence' with a comma, and then add the dialogue tag (starting with a lower case letter if it's not a proper noun), and then the sentence ends."

"This is correct too!" she exclaimed.

"This is also correct," she explained, "because the dialogue sentence hasn't ended, it was just interrupted. When dialogue is interrupted, but the sentence hasn't ended, the dialogue tag is surrounded by commas, indicating a whole, ongoing sentence."

INCORRECT EXAMPLES:

"This is not the correct way to format a spoken sentence." She said, crying a little bit on the inside.

"Neither is this!" She exclaimed.

"And neither is this." she sighed, rubbing at her temples as intentionally writing dialogue incorrectly began to trigger a headache.

Same thing happened to me. Different circumstances, but yeah it is super painful. My mom didn't tell me what I period was until I got it for the first time, and I wasn't even with her. I was at my grandmother's house and had to learn what they were from her, my mom only explained it to me after.

She also hasn't taught me hygiene either. I know the basics of course, the really obvious ones that are easy to do. Anything else? Hell if I know. I don't even know how to properly wash my hair, I have dandruff constantly. She complains about it, but she sure as hell isn't gonna teach me how.

Anyways, I wanted to write this to tell you that you aren't alone. This shit is incredibly common, for whatever reason. It sucks, but my advice is to just try. Focus on the now, and just try your best. Tacky advice, I know, but Focusing on the now will get you to the future. And that way you can prepare yourself for it, and actually know how to do it.

my mom taught us the basics too, by which I mean she TOLD them to us and barely ever enforced them. I've gotten better at showering regularly (probably still less than most people though) but I cant fuckin STAND brushing my teeth. it makes my mouth feel sooo gross and i never got into the habit of it so it's still difficult.

I used to have HORRIBLE dandruff too, and it itched so bad that I would scab my head all over scratching at it. turns out I have seborrheic dermatitis (diagnosed via tumblr user saying I might have it, and then a nurse confirming it lmao) and now I use a medical anti-dandruff shampoo from like. walgreens or something! I think its called selsun blue or something, so idk maybe that'll help?

ALSO FUCKING. I HAVE SO MANY ISSUES WITH HAIR. so im mixed and my mom has straight hair cause shes very white. so i am FUCKED cause god knows she wont learn to do black hair. but my hair isnt as tightly curled as my other siblings either, so im kind of just left floundering cause idk what kind of hair i even HAVE so how do i figure out how to take care of it??? all i know is that shampoo goes before conditioner ;O;

ANYWAY yeah you're advice here is actually pretty solid. unfortunately the truth is that when it comes to hygiene, you just have to try to do it consistently.

one thing that helps me take showers (and this is advice i got from ppl with ADHD, which i might also have idk) is to either set a timer or just don't. think.

if i think too much I'll never take a shower cuz i'll be thinking about how hard it is and how long it will take.

but if I think "i should shower" and just ride that thought out then I can collect all my things (towel, bodywash, etc) and go to the shower before I have the chance to change my mind.

my hygiene is still probably "gross" to most people but I've improved a lot so i'm proud of myself.

your matchup is... the bloody painter! and it's not because of the art thing, trust me on this okay, just hear me out for a moment. while, yes, you and helen both enjoy art, helen is also really big on horror and the whole goth subculture. while he doesn't dress the part, you will catch him listening to the music and digesting both the art and literature. so. trust me.

helen is pretty reserved and not one to let people close to him but once you break the ice and get past his apathetic exterior, you'll find that he's actually pretty... i wouldn't say he's open once you get to know him, but it's fairly obvious that he'll become less reserved around you, and he'll actually show that he cares about you. does that make sense?

moving on, helen doesn't give food a lot of thought, to be honest. he likes what he likes, and he hates what he hates. he would be a terrible food critic. he does, however, know and understand that cooking is an art, and he has nothing but respect for you and your talents and is 100% willing to be a taste tester for you if you ever need one. he quite enjoys your cooking, if we're being honest, and you have introduced him to a wide variety of different foods from different cultures and he just... loves seeing you enjoy yourself.

now going on to art, because this is helen and it's unavoidable. helen is more of a traditional artist, so digital art isn't his area of expertise, but he would absolutely love to see any and all of your drawings. you two could even draw together! and he has like numerous sketchbooks just full to the brim of sketches and fully-fledged out pieces if you ever want to see them. he loves sharing his own art as well. and, if you give him permission, he'll probably incorporate you into his art. he'll sketch you or add you into the background of one of his paintings. art is his love language, and he would love to involve you in it.

helen doesn't give gifts often, mostly because it's not something that crosses his mind, but sometimes he'll be out and about, and he'll see something. something strawberry-themed or an accessory that would look good with your goth or punk clothing. and, of course, the only natural thing to do is to buy it and gift it to you. so, every once in a while, he'll just hand you a random gift with no real explanation other than a shrug or 'i saw it and thought about you.'

and if you start rambling to him about a certain topic that has caught your interest, or about your day-to-day life in general, helen will silently listen to you. he likes listening to you ramble, especially when he's mindlessly sketching something. and should you apologize for rambling too much, he'll just momentarily meet your gaze and say, 'don't apologize. i like the sound of your voice.' before directing his attention back to whatever he was sketching.

any and all information you give him about the things you like and dislike will be neatly tucked away into a corner of his mind. he's the type to remember everything you tell him, even the minor things. you're a very important part of his life, and he does everything he can to make sure you know that.

Anywho, I dogified these two because I can’t draw humans very well. I mean I can try but I’m still learning. Also, I feel like everyone catifies everything but no one ever dogifies anything. So I had to break tradition. Though I may already have Warriorfied Twdg before…

So Louis is a Doberman/Afghan hound mix. I think the Doberman aspect sticks out more. And Violet is a Saluki. Whether she’s a mixed breed or not can be up to you. I plan to do more of these in the future, and I’ll probably do Clementine and AJ next. Theses two were pretty easy to do. I tried to make Violet have her bad posture, cuz we all have seen it sis. But idk how well it shows up. Also her pin was kinda a pain cuz I couldn’t see the text of it. So I just put the funky rainbow instead. Louis was easy though!

And I’m aware there should be more versions of the refs. For example Louis can determinantly get shot in his shoulder. And then both of them with the whole losing a finger thing. But I didn’t feel like making a lot of refs lmao.

Hey I saw your tags on the tree law post and since you were looking for more information, I can share what I got from my brother who works in landscaping:

Coppicing is cutting a tree down to a stump so only the roots remain. It causes some tree species to grow more like shrubs. He also said these trees weren’t cut in the correct place to stimulate growth, which should be right after a branch splits into two or more smaller limbs. From how thick the branches are at the cuts, they have lost a lot of stored sugars in the branches that were removed, and lost its ability to create more energy from its leaves. They’re almost certainly going to die :(

These trees have been cut to have round tops, which ~is~ a certain trimming technique but it’s clear these particular trees have not been pruned like that before. You’re supposed to start that when the tree is younger. He said that maybe Universal might use the shaping as an excuse that they were *intending* to prune the trees properly, but he can tell this was not done by an arborist.

Please don’t take this as aggressive in any way. I saw that you were trying to ask and get info, and I don’t want you to feel attacked by this. I’m just sharing what I learned, too.

I don't think at that size you would want to stimulate growth tbh because it's pretty big already. And there's still quite a few leaves left, even if it'll be a poor growth year. I've seen local trees given a full pollard, though in late spring I think and they really bounced back.

That particular anxiety situation had indeed passed thankfully, however I’m in the middle of my university exam phase and constantly stressed so these are extremely appreciated regardless <3

also please never worry about long lists of headcanons I eat stuff like this up it literally physically cannot be too long for my liking

-Leo’s body heat being naturally higher has been a hc of mine for a while so yes definitely agree there. -Also Jason is just. An immensely fussy friend and partner he’s so worried Leo will end up sick and Leo just grins at him and puts a warm hand on his cheek all “chill out Superman I’m going to be fine”

-Despite his jacket and being all packaged up in winter clothes somehow Jason is the one who ends up sick. Leo ends up playing hot water bottle boyfriend for like. A week

-I’m going to start weeping over Thalia teaching Annabeth how to braid her hair. Now I also can’t help but think about her trying to do it all by herself for the first time after Thalia is gone and I just feel so so ill about it all my poor babies.

-Ooooh yeah it’d make sense that she’d probably at least be able to catch snippets from other languages. She’d also definitely get some stuff mixed up tho (English is not my first language and it was… very funny learning some of the words that sound similar to German words but actually mean something completely different lmao)

-Agreed on the crushes thing lmao. In my head whenever I think of the Cupid scene Jason just looks at Nico confused all “is that not a normal reaction to have to Percy Jackson”. I think the one exception might be Leo because he was too busy definitely not crushing on Jason to pay much attention to Percy or Annabeth lol

-I feel like Leo fell out of a tree at least once

-This is the second farsighted Jason take I’ve seen in two days and yeah the more I think about it the more I agree actually

-Let! Nico! Doodle! I also wonder if he’s ever tried to draw mythomagic fanart/custom cards before.

-I found out recently that the wiki has Nico listed as one of Frank’s fears which is really funny to me because now I’m just imagining a mildly terrified Frank being pulled aside by Nico having no idea what this is going to be all about and then Nico just starts absolutely rambling away about mythomagic and suddenly they’re bonding!! This is fine actually and yes he will absolutely help Hazel’s slightly terrifying brother get her into his favorite card game (Frank also knows Hazel’s always looking for excuses to spend more time with Nico since they didn’t get to grow up together and so she’s immediately down)

-I need more Leo Reyna friendship content always. They’re so fun to me.

-Rick knew Reyna and Annabeth would be terrifying if they properly got to join forces and therefore had to separate them again immediately lmao

-Addition to that: Leo also does this (gesturing at that bit in ToA where he’s casually all “one time I slept under a bridge for a month” mid-conversation). Leo and Nico will just drop random traumatic shit in the middle of the sentence and then go “oops I forgot I only told specific people about this”. In my head Nico just moves on and refuses to elaborate most of the time lmao. Leo defaults to making stupid jokes about it while everyone looks at him very concerned

-Jason does it too but that’s because he just straight-up doesn’t recognize some of the stuff he went through isn’t generally considered normal. He casually talks about his time with Lupa when he was like two and is so confused when Frank and Hazel and Percy look at him like WTF because “you all went through Lupa training too why are you looking at me weird” “We were teenagers. You were a toddler whose mom ditched him in the woods”

-Now I want to pull my copy of MoA out to check but I’m pretty sure Leo would have been more freaked out by the whole underwater centaur situation (and just in general the whole boat situation) if he couldn’t swim. However, if for one reason or another Esperanza didn’t get around to teaching him to swim when he was little, I wonder if Jason and Piper took the time to teach him over their six months at camp (considering they knew they’d spend a bunch of time in a boat that would be a very reasonable thing to do). That’s a fun thought.

Trying not to make the same mistake as last week and be a bit more well-prepared this time, so asking in advance: tomorrow will be horribly stressful and I would really appreciate getting some kind of fluffy headcanons or asks or something that I can distract myself with :)
