Post top surgery, would Marshall's Amphibia scars make him insecure or stop him from going shirtless, even around Anne and Ev?

ohhh yeah, for a little while probably

oof i never rly thought abt it to be honest. top surgery scars would be the least of his problems (pro of newtopian top surgery is that it leaves little scarring). everything post true colors tho… yeah

marshall would avoid going shirtless for months, less out of fear of judgement but more to avoid seeing the scars. its hard to forget abt everything that happened when the events left marks throughout your whole body. he’d probably even avoid showering too often as well. as long as they dont have to see the scars.

anne n ev are concerned for them bc theyve heard marsh rant about wishing they could go shirtless, and annes seen his journal entries dreaming of the idea. so, seeing him actively avoid it is worrying. but they get it tho. as much as they dont wanna admit it, it’s hard seeing the burns on his chest and the plug marks running down their limbs. eventually tho they stage an intervention, bc they wanna cuddle w their bf and they want them to be comfortable with himself (plus hes kinda starting to stink from not showering).

they start with gentle reminders to try showering more often, then little comments to let marsh know its okay, and they dont have to worry abt feeling insecure or worried around them. finally, marsh decides to try walking around the house shirtless. their gfs try not to make a huge deal abt it for his sake, but they keep giving him cute lil compliments abt how handsom they look, and they keep making excuses to hug him and hold him. their touches are gentle though, avoiding the scars until marshall says its alright, guiding their hands across his skin. that night the cuddle pile feels a touch more intimate, and despite how terrifying the thought of going shirtless was at first, marshall felt amazing.

like most things, it gets easier over time. its still unnerving for all of them seeing the scars sometimes, but they over come it. marsh still doesnt really go shirtless in public. like, if they went to the beach, they’d wear a rash guard to avoid questions. maybe if the scarring wasnt as bad, he couldve played it off as something like a heart surgery scar. but those dont usually leave burns. and theyre not on both sides. also, theres still the plug scars from the core suit.

i considered the possibility of marshall getting tattoos for the scars on his chest, but honestly i dont think he would. though, they do have some tattoo designs floating around in his journals: one of a sparrow with its wings spread wide, another with a heron hilted sword with flowers wrapped around it in the shape of a vertical infinity
