Rules/Guidelines for this acc
address me as:
brook (he’s so cool he’s so underrated)
please read my rules before requesting by the way!! just for no confusion but i’m open to most things :)
Requests: CLOSED m(._.)m
requests: 7 stuff I wanna post: 2
fandoms i write for:
-anime/manga fandoms only: demon slayer, my hero academia, one piece, hunter x hunter, bungo stray dogs, saiki k, mob psycho 100, Black Butler, Blue Lock, Fairy Tail (new)
(I don’t know all the Blue Lock characters I haven’t read the manga. Same for Fairy tail, except I just haven’t finished the anime)
(Fire force, Assassination Classroom, Ouran Highschool Host Club and God of High School will be added when I finish watching! <3)
donts:
-proship, character x oc, hate/judge me or others on this account, nsfw, homophobia (unless requesting fluff or comfort from character because of homophobic parents), pregnant reader, racism, suicide, self harm, (heavy) angst, holidays (i don’t celebrate any so I don’t feel comfortable writing for it), drinking or smoking (never done it so I don’t have any knowledge about it—plus I don’t feel comfortable with writing for it) etc the typical
do’s:
pretty much anything else, i’m pretty accepting: fluff, sfw, platonic, romantic, character x matchup, character x character if i like the ship (I don’t ship many tho), random/general headcanons, request as much as you want (don’t spam the same one tho), poc/black reader, male reader, amab/afab, trans reader, chubby reader, tall reader, short reader, glasses reader, character x reader similar to [character], fluff prompt hcs
who i mainly write for:
Luffy, ace, zoro, sanji, brook, robin, izuku, katsuki, aizawa, chrollo, feitan, kurapika, tanjiro, inosuke, rengoku, obanai, saiki k, atsushi nakajima, mob aka Shigeo Kaegayama, reigen, Ciel Phantomhive, Grell Sutcliff, Alois Trancy, Undertaker, atsushi
Ideas of things to request me!:
I have a mini series called ‘character’s kisses’ where if you request for example: “Luffy’s kisses” I’ll do headcanons of his kisses and what I’d think they’d be like! :)
platonic/romantic hcs
general hcs
x ____ (unique type) reader
character x matchup!
Authors notes:
i don’t do many au’s unless i like them (I’d most likely do modern au’s or character survived au, Portgas D. Ace for example), same with ships. But don’t be afraid to req I might say no I might say yes
only fluff, adult or not there’s plenty of nsfw acc
i only do certain polys (but don’t be afraid to req one!)
there are some spoilers on this acc :P (I always put a warning, if it’s a big or small spoiler, and what part of the anime)
sfw only don’t req anything else i won’t do it (kissing/making out is 👌)
safe place for minors since this a sfw acc
for the record I will prioritize requests and random impulses to write something over the list i made so if you really wanna see something just ask me- don’t wait around idk how long it’ll take😭
sometimes I leave randomly, usually due to mental or personal reasons, if I ever wanted to permanently stop writing, I’d say something, so don’t worry <33
don’t be afraid to req a character from an anime not listed here, i know way more anime’s than that, those i are just the characters i feel i’d write best for
don’t be afraid to req :)
how to get blocked:
don’t be a pain: again—judging me or others, anything in the donts, spamming (i ask of you, be patient when sending in a req, some days I simply don’t feel like writing and that’s okay, so again I ask you to accept this <3), etc
Masterlists:
Masterlist

List of characters I want to write for eventually:

Hold on I'll ask a few but not a lot since I don't wanna be annoying lol.
Idk I have a fangan with these characters but the show is sadly underrated but have you watched 101 Dalmatian Street? Really good show, really good characters, really cute art. Really scary finale.
There was a question asked in the Penguinronpa QnA, two actually, and I wanted to ask these questions. Since 96 isn't complete you can just do like the characters slash chapters you've done up til then or just do 69 only.
For each character, what would they have contributed if they lasted longer in the story. Like the role. Antag, development, support, that one character who does nothing but survives anyway, etc
What's one thing for each chapter you'd go back and redo, if there was one thing for each chapter?
Sorry for question count I'm a very questiony guy. Also yes, this is York the guy who gave Bojack-o-lattern a ton of nicknames. Also I've watched some of Breaking Bad and watched Saiki K almost all of Season 1 (dubbed). Both are really fucking good. There's an Ao Oni movie apparently but the demon design is apparently bad, wait shit I'm rambling. Let me stop now.
1. I haven’t watched it myself, but as long as you enjoy the show yourself and the characters you’re writing, then that’s great! As long as you’re passionate, you could even convince others to check it out
As these other answers are kinda long, I’m gonna put them under the cut ↓ ↓ ↓
2. I’ll answer this for DR69 as it’s easier as that story is already finished.
Mr. Krabs - probably would’ve taken on an arc of greed or teamwork that would’ve reflected into Luigi in some way
Mario - would’ve taken on a very tight-knit support role for Luigi, perhaps helping him come out of his shell and befriend anyone Luigi would
Dedede - as a comical character in the story, it would’ve been funny if he did get access to a hammer or something and tried to break down a wall, only for it to actually lead them to somewhere useful (or makes a hole that a killer could utilise for a murder case)
Ashley - like a mentioned in a very previous post, she would’ve had an arc of coming out of her comfort zone and making more friends, gaining some confidence on the side to confide in others. She would probably become a close friend to Luigi, who takes on a similar type of parental role he does with Parappa (as one single man can never have too many kids)
2D - I’d like to think we’d get to see him perform at some point. Either as a performance with Miku and Teto, or maybe on his own without the cosmetics and show lights, singing to someone who needs the motivation
Peter - I won’t lie, I don’t particularly want Peter to be an endgame character, even in an alternative timeline. I think he’d continue to just be a comic relief character tho, just not so loudly during the darker parts as we get later into the story
Sans - If Sans was alive longer, sansmaeda would be able to be explored more than just during the trial and some parts before. Perhaps the relationship would cause some problems with trust, or it would change the dynamic of the group in someway (as the first sort of relationship they’ve been accustomed to). On his own, I think he’d begin to actually care about investigating himself and find some pretty useful things
Fluttershy - for Fluttershy, she’d be able to spread her kindness a lot further from when she died. Since she had her own doubts herself, however (seen in her diary), it would’ve been a good opportunity for her to receive help from others rather than just being so selfless. Also, she would’ve been able to share her drawings herself, allowing her to explain her creative process and see the others' reactions to her art
Brian - if Brian was persuaded to keep going, he’d have no regrets, more easily able to accept certain strange things and focus on what’s most important: saving everyone else. I think he’d often try to be self-sacrificial, but others would convince him they all need to stay alive together
3. I’ll continue to answer this with just DR69.
Chap 1 - add more events to the daily life. It felt kinda short, even if it was my first ever dangan chapter, and it would’ve been nice to see more events with the whole cast before one bit the dust. I’d like to see them all do something together -- maybe find a way to escape even if it backfires.
Chap 2 - this is more of a technical thing, but I accidentally forgot to have one of the three practicing the play (either The Conductor, Miku or Teto) mention they were rehearing in Classroom 1-A and not the performance hall during the night of the 2nd murder. This led to some theories believing the latter, which made me feel a bit guilty as it led some theories the wrong way.
Chap 3 - I mentioned before I wanted to also add more events to the daily life of ch3. However, I’d probably remove that um. Luigi having to be a real plumber for Peter scene because it was just gross and I only did it because I thought some people would find it funny I guess?? Like it’s not the worst thing ever but I don’t like stooping to toilet level humour often.
Chap 4 - for this chapter, I think I’d want to justify why Sans killed Peter himself. While taking on a selfless act as he didn’t want Nagito to die is alright, just Peter making fun of Papyrus doesn’t really reflect why Sans would get so mad. However, this was actually because in a very old plan I had, Peter had actually killed Papyrus himself (idk how or why but he did) and that confession would be what had led Sans into killing him. I mean I guess it could’ve been possible in a prequel type thing but it would make things more messy (also impossible considering Papyrus is alive for the albeit dead sequel)
Chap 5 - I think I would add more moments of Luigi seeing Parappa hanging out with Brian and trying to make him happy again. We only really see him trying to talk to Nagito, and not with the other two often. It would be nice to have Luigi at least know one thing they did together, making the moment it all falls apart in the trial much more harder to bear.
Chap 6 - I can’t think of much I would change here. However, I would’ve liked to add a part during the trial where Luigi reminisces on the others who have passed away, and I would add a CG of a collage of all the final moments of each character like how they did in SDR2 and NDRV3. I just think it’d look cool but painful as a reminder of all the deaths in one big image. I’d also add a CG right at the end of all 5 survivors standing together after escaping the school. I was planning to, but I got quite burned out after basically working on that final chapter so intently after such a long hiatus.
4. Hello again! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed those shows so far since I really like ‘em too. It’s nice when people check out the medias I write in my fangans!
#hope I answered all your questions well#they were quite hefty so I tried my best#also for ao oni i just stick to the game and accept the graphic novels lol

sorry to bother, but do you have any anime recs for people who want to break out of the normal shounen/shoujo genres? like, something more niche and less action or romance.
There’s a lot that could fit with those specifications… but I’ll do my best to present underrated shows that don’t concretely fit within those two genres.
This post is SUPER long. Here we go!
If you’re looking for unique art:
Gakutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo – a loose, more magical and sci-fi-esque adaptation of the famous novel The Count of Monte Cristo made in 2004. It’s a fantastic show, and the art and animation are incredibly unique, even fifteen years later.
A wonderful take on the original story, and an even more wonderful experiment with underused art and animation forms. Though it can be a bit hard on the eyes sometimes, and the (rarely used) CG is rather outdated, Gankutsuou is a beautiful show that I just can’t forget about.
Tsuritama – a sci-fi coming-of-age story about a boy with extreme social anxiety who makes some friends and bonds with them through fishing.
It’s a bit weird, but the show’s uniqueness and absurdity in terms of its plot and characters is what really makes it special, along with its beautiful art and color palate. Though it’s been years, I still remember Tsuritama fondly.
and 3-gatsu no Lion – a slice of life/drama that follows Kiriyama Rei, a depressed 17-year-old professional shogi player. The show chronicles his depression and subsequent slow recovery after meeting and befriending a neighboring poor family who own a sweets shop.
This is a phenomenal show. It realistically handles depression, and portrays it symbolically in such a way that you really won’t be able to forget it. But it’s not just an angst-fest– Rei does find happiness and contentment with himself, and eventually comes out of his shell through the help of his friends and coworkers. As a teenager who struggled with similar feelings, seeing that message of recovery meant the world to me.
If you’re looking for humor and comedy:
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. – a short-form comedy about a boy named Saiki Kusuo, who has psychic powers but hates the fact, and keeps getting wrapped up in wacky, stupid shenanigans with his eccentric classmates and family members.
Here is peak comedy in anime. You probably won’t surpass it, not even in the oft-recommended Gintama. I actually enjoyed the dub over the sub for this one, which is saying something considering I’m a subtitles-only person (sadly, only one season out of three is dubbed). But even so, Saiki’s deadpan personality and irritation towards getting caught up in abnormal situations when all he wants is to be normal carries through no matter what language you watch it in.
My Neighbor Seki – a simple short-form show about a girl named Yokoi Rumi who keeps witnessing her seat neighbor, Seki, doing increasingly odd activities in the middle of class. Though she tries ratting him out at first, she slowly gets more and more invested in his strange pastimes.
This show was both funny and odd because of its sheer absurdity– the boy goes from dominos to cards to playing miniature golf on his desk. Short and sweet, this show and its skits all appealed to my sense of humor.
and Aggretsuko – another short-form about a red panda named Retsuko who deals with the obnoxious realities of office life and de-stresses by singing death metal at a karaoke bar.
The sheer realness of working that Aggretsuko presents– though a bit painful, given how life is for most Millennials and Gen Z-ers– is part of what makes it so relatable and funny. Everyone knows what it’s like to have annoying coworkers, or an asshole boss you hate. That’s exactly what made me enjoy it.
If you’re looking for heartwarming slice of life:
Usagi Drop – a show about a man who adopts a young girl whom his grandfather had illegitimately, and him adapting to fatherhood as he raises her.
It’s adorable, and made me realize some things about parenting as well. A necessary warning, though– don’t read the manga, because the author decided to make the story go from heartwarming to gross towards the end.
and Sweetness and Lightning – a show about a widow who begins to take cooking lessons from one of his students from school so that he can prepare proper home-cooked meals for his young daughter instead of having to order takeout all the time.
Similar to Usagi Drop, this show was just a nice breather to watch– it’s sweet and cute, and I got to learn a few things about cooking as a bonus!
If you’re looking for pure drama and feels:
Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu – a historical drama spanning the Shouwa era of Japan (~1926-1989) that tells the story of a man nicknamed Yotaro, who, after being released from prison, becomes the apprentice of famous rakugo performer Yurakutei Yakumo. The story alternates between Yakumo’s haunting past with his late friend Sukeroku, another rakugo performer, and the present in which Yotaro struggles to gain popularity due to rakugo dying as an art.
I’ll say now that I usually can’t stand drama, especially contrived anime drama. But this series truly is a masterpiece. Its story is among the most phenomenal I have ever seen, and will tug on your heartstrings if not make you sob outright. The journey is absolutely unforgettable– it’s a must-watch.
If you’re looking for slice-of-life with supernatural elements
Natsume’s Book of Friends – a story about an orphaned boy named Natsume Takashi who has been able to see and interact with yokai spirits as long as he can remember. When he is adopted by kinder, distant relatives, he moves into a new town and learns that his grandmother Reiko had the same ability. She manipulated the yokai she met by trapping them into a contract with her using a prized artifact known as the Book of Friends. Having inherited the Book from her, and with a new cat-like yokai companion named Nyanko-sensei, Natsume resolves to set the spirits in the book free.
Though the premise may seem a bit heavy, the show itself is relaxed. The gentle kindness with which Natsume’s problems are treated warmed my heart. Watching Natsume’s life with his new family and friends– both yokai and human– is really a treat to enjoy.
and Flying Witch – a story that follows the daily life of a teenage witch named Makoto who moves in with relatives in Aomori in rural Japan so that she can study magic. Surrounded by nature and kind-hearted people, Makoto finds peace and fun in her whimsical, magical life.
Flying Witch is a genuinely relaxing series– there is absolutely zero underlying plot, no evil magical threat that Makoto must tackle. It is 100% calm and quiet, and because it is so rare for a series to have that, I must recommend it.
If you’re looking for a coming-of-age story
Silver Spoon – a story about a boy named Hachiken Yuugo, who enrolls in an agricultural high school far from home to avoid his parents’ harsh expectations of him. Though he expects the school to be easy, he comes to realize the difficulties of farm life and management, and makes friends while learning to adapt to his new environment and find his own path for the future.
Hachiken’s trials and tribulations as a teenager are both relatable and harsh to face. It gave me a new perspective thanks to its uniqueness– be honest, how many series about farming have you ever watched? Through both its humorous and thoughtful moments, Silver Spoon made me smile and appreciate the hard work of others.
and finally, IDOLiSH7 – an anime that follows seven young men who form a new idol group, each with their own goals and personalities. Though they become fast friends and coworkers, the industry is harsh, and they learn both through their missteps and successes what it really takes for them to follow their dreams.
Though I normally wouldn’t recommend idol anime, I really loved this one, specifically because it’s more realistic about how toxic the industry can be to its young, emotional performers. It highlights how idols themselves aren’t just cookie-cutter smiley-faces wanting to perform and make people happy 24/7– they’re real people, too.

WHY I LOVE : JUJUTSU KAISEN
A/N: Hi, yes I’m back. I’m sorry for being inactive for 60 smth days and probably going to be inactive for another 2 weeks because of exams but it’s fine. <3 I promise I binged lots of animes and I’m back with more headcanons. Also, I’m not sure if you guys would like me to do more than headcanons, but do tell if you want me to. I started this as a fun blog and hope to continue that even though I’m always inactive lol. Anyways, here you go, a jujutsu kaisen rant! Ps: these are my personal thoughts and feelings, if you don’t agree with them then fair enough! ^^
Genre: Crack/Comedy/?reviewing?
A/U(s): None.
Warnings: spoilers are put in brackets and are red! Watch out for them. :D
Trigger warnings: None.
Summary: Just me ranting. :)
UHHH REVIEW TIME! The main characters ;)
Megumi Fushiguro
Megumi is best sasuke trope boy. By far my favorite emo boy. Why? Well, it’s mostly because when animes introduce characters like Megumi they’re all emo and have to avenge their village and kill people and are ‘brocken’ or smth idk.
But jujutsu kaisen does the whole sasuke trope a big middle finger and makes Megumi a less tsundere, and broken character.
Honestly, I never expected Megumi to have this type of personality because most animes try to give his archetype the whole ‘their honest’ when in reality they are just rude and selfish. Megumi is literally honest. My guy had no problems telling Gojou that he wants Yuji to stay as his own opinion which if you asked any of the people under this archetype they would respond with ‘Ugh, just keep him alive okay?’.
Like he is honestly sweet and even when trying to force Yuji and Nobara to leave it WASNT for his own well-being it was for theirs. Literally is the opposite of Ray, Sasuke, and any type of character that is emo and rude. Also he is one of the few characters that deserves to be as powerful as he is because he didn’t get his powers because of ‘his burning rage for the person who killed his village as he tries to avenge them.’ And he also has a bad background but is quite an average character. I just appreciate him. :)
Nobara Kugisaki
AMAZING-
Honestly though, she’s amazing. My favorite character since she literally is a girly girl yet is powerful (nothing wrong with that, it’s just wow.), which hear me out.
Most shounen anime girls fall under 3 categories of female characters.
The useless damsel in distress that is a tsundere.
‘Another Naruto reference? Seriously Mochi?’ I’m so sorry my lovely reader, but Naruto is one of the founding fathers of all Shounen anime stereotypes. So yes, another Naruto reference.
First of all, I don’t hate this characters, I actually don’t dislike them either. That being said I don’t like them. I get this neutral emotion whenever someone like idk Sakura I guess is on screen next to Aiura Mikoto (Who btw, is another underrated female character that deserves love even though the anime is crack-y.). I guess it’s because throughout all of the Arc’s and episodes, Sakura hasn’t changed or developed or even learned from past mistakes. It sucks seeing character that could’ve had potential, being boring and just bad. Also she’s ungrateful for her parents for no reason, and that just says a lot about her persona. To be honest, most Naruto female characters are like this, and I don’t want to hear crap about Hinata’s character because she barely got screen time and the only times we see her is when the creator pushes her to be next to Naruto more often or if the whole gang is together. (I watched a bit of Naruto so I could be wrong about this whole thing but this is again, my opinion.)
The dimwit and clumsy/tsundere/strong female fan service
Oh look, it’s everyone’s ‘favorite’ Erza Scarlet from Fairytail. But whoops, her whole character is just her having cleavage. Or everyone’s favorite crime Taboo Tattoo (I didn’t watch it but most fans have come together and agreed that it would’ve been a decent anime without all of the fan service.) Or maybe the stereotypical dimwit character that is clumsy?
Yeah, you know who I’m talking about right?
I feel like some animes, that are 23 minutes long, would be reduced to around 15 minutes without all the fan service (not counting the Opening or ending)
(Also all the dumb jokes, but that’s for another time.)
Looking at how many creators complain they can’t go too in-depth with their OC’s, because they don’t have much time, but they somehow can fit in a whole scene of people literally having their clothes ripped off because of how ‘delicious’ it is. Yes, I’m coming after you Food Wars. Even though I am a big fan, that doesn’t mean I can ignore the flaws. I am fair and will admit that, as far as characters go, Food Wars is shallow.
Personally, mha is also another crime with lots of fan service of 15-16 year old girls. 😀
I don’t want to get into the heated Hero Hei debate wether this doesn’t count because they’re ‘fictional’ or if it does. So moving on.
Can I mention how much Momo Yaoyorozu could’ve been an amazing character with amazing development and a cool quirk? I mean personally, I hate how Momo is now just fanservice. This queen has an amazing quirk, went in through recommendations, smart, helpful, is class Vice President, heroic, tall, thoughtful, rich but doesn’t brag about it and is humble, and just a cool character that could be delved deeper on?
Haha nope. Boobs.
avegsjhsowhaGEJEGOA
W h a t
This literal queen could carry this series on her back yet they have the audacity to make her have zero personality and just a background character? Like excuse me, I don’t think you understand, but Principle Nezu has more screen time than her. Literally her and Koda (Creati and Anima) could be so cool but no one ever acknowledges them. :(
Anyways let’s move on.
And finally, the love interest.
Ochako Uraraka. That’s it.
Ochako really deserves more, honestly. I was hyped up in the sports fest. because she just showed off that she isn’t backing down, and now she’s just a mindless love interest.
Honestly, I don’t like talking about this topic the most because A, it’s controversial for some reason. And B, it sucks seeing these amazing characters being watered down to just a love interest.
OH BUT NOBARA? NOBARA?
SHE DOESN’T NEED ANYONE!
She’s fine on her own, thank you very much.
I mean best scene was when she was fighting Sabrina the witch and didn’t seem to care much about scars and she just debunked all of those things and I just UGGGHHHH- <33333
Like animes try so hard to have a feminist role model by making her tomboyish and mean and a tsundere and calls anyone that looks at her a pervert.
But Nobara isn’t any of that. Nobara is fashionable and powerful. She loves shopping. She loves eating expensive. She loves Luxuries. She loves proving people she’s strong. She isn’t easily scared. She protects, and I just love her. She isn’t your stereotypical tomboy or at least she doesn’t fall into the smurfette effect or smth.
Tbh, I was worried when she joined them. I said either she’s a tomboy who’s a tsundere or a soft spoken damsel in distress, but now that I’ve seen her, I know that Nobara is Nobara. And that you all should appreciate her also.
Okay enough of that rant lol, moving on to Yuji!
Yuji Itadori
I LOVE THIS MC!
Are we going to use stereotypes again? Yes we are!
Usually shounen MCs have the worst personality either being too bland (mf MC from re-zero) or just too much of a coward/weakling/pervert/happy-go-lucky character.
I mean, if we are going to have a strong character he has to be a pervert for some reason.
A respectful character is a crybaby/weakling.
And a happy character has a dark secret side and ‘OmG lOoK hE’s SoO sc a Ry!1!1!’.
And tbh Yuji falls in the rare category.
The category that isn’t a crybaby, perverted, 11 year old that looks like he’s at least 20.
That category is what I’d like to call. The Saiki K. category.
I love MC’s like this because they aren’t too shallow, but not the whole story is about THEM and THEM ONLY.
It’s amazing to see how they still have the same personality but somehow have went through a bigger character development than all those other MC’s.
(Not disrespecting your faves, once again this is a personal opinion-)
And the way he isn’t OP and actually has trouble and the way (Slight spoilers!) that we can see that when he asks Sukuna to heal yoshino and the way Sukuna just laughs and I just like how they didn’t make Yuji just ‘become OP through the power of friendship’ and just they accepted he was dead or how his hand was cut off and he accepted it but how when he was dying he actually cried saying how he didn’t want to die showing us hey, it’s okay to cry but please don’t cry when you win a prize or competition or something. (End of spoilers!)
Ugh I just love Yuji being an MC. Again, he is one of those few rare MC’s with interesting character design, and personality without overwhelming it or just underwhelm it.
AND FINALLY YES ITS HIS TIME
Satoru Gojo
I DIDNT EXPECT HIM TO BE THIS GOOFY LMAO-
Honestly most surprising character.
DHEUIWOWV should I make a separate post for the plot, story and Gojo? It’s getting late where I am sooo this gonna get a continuation! I’m Mochi and see you guys next time, Bye-Bye! (。- u -。)

Fall 2016 Shows Rankings and Write-Ups
1. Nobunaga no Shinobi (7/10):
Before I start with the write-ups, let me start by saying that I think this season is the weakest season of the year. When the number one show is a fringe 7-8/10 and I look at most of the shows with a tinge of disappointment, then it ends up being that way. Having said that, this is my “Underrated Short of the Season”, and basically became my AOTS. Basically this show is a historical short about a girl shinobi (an assassin like person dude?) working for Oda Nobunaga, and shenanigans ensue. The character designs are very much cutesie, but that’s the type of stuff I like, so I feel it’s fine. The best aspect of the show is it’s humor: even though it’s only 4 minutes, it’s able to make me laugh every episode with its fast paced call-and-response humor. At times it goes really fast, but that’s usually the case with these short shorts.
Now the negatives. With a historical short, there’ll obviously be historical references, most of which went over my head. However, that’s not a huge problem as prior knowledge of the subject isn’t required to enjoy the content anyway: they explain all of the things that are happening, so it’s not confusing if you’re out of the loop. Overall this show earns a high 7/10, low 8/10: would recommend.
2. Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan (7/10):
Now I loved Saiki as much as the next guy, and it’s a really good show. It’s clever and funny in its execution: I never know what direction it’s going to go and it almost always ends up making me laugh. It’s characters are great too: Saiki is your standard snarky protagonist with all of the superpowers, and the countless side characters help to create wacky situations for each episode. The only problem I had (and I feel like I’m the only one with this problem) is that the second half of the show was way less funnier for me. Maybe it was the new characters they introduced, maybe it was that they switched to a weekly format instead of the 5-minute short every weekday, but something about this season’s version of Saiki fell a bit short for me. If the first half of the show was a 9/10 for me, the second half is probably a 6-7/10. Overall a fun short that I would recommend to all, especially since it’s so underwatched for how good it is.
P.S.: The good news is that this show is getting a second season in the future, which means more Saiki! I’m excited that this show is getting a second season, but like all shows I’m cautiously optimistic.
3. Haikyuu!! S3 (7/10):
Yep, I have this show rated this “low” (low depends on how much you like this show). Now, a 7/10 for me is still a good show, just that it has a few flaws here and there. And the flaw for this show starts with the opponent of the match, Shiratorizawa. They were not what everyone on the show hyped them up to be: the all-powerful team to me felt really underwhelming. The main man Ushijima didn’t feel as intimidating to me as characters like Oikawa or even the tall dude from Dateko when Karasuno first faced them. He had his moments, but looking back he was just there most of the time to me. Everybody else on the team was fine as well, but there’s that one spiky-haired dude who I hated, and that was Tendo. He reminded me a lot of Betelguese from Re:Zero, and that’s not a good thing. He felt really out of place in a show about high school sports, and though I understand he was supposed to be a sort of enemy to rally against, I just felt uncomfortable watching scenes with him in it.
Another problem I had with this show was the formatting: the season was entirely based on one match, which did get a bit tiring after a while. They did the best they could with it by spacing out the match with flashback scenes, but like Shokugeki’s second season with the Autumn Tournament, there weren’t really any fun slice-of-life moments this season, which made the show kinda drag on a bit.
Other than that, this season was the classic Haikyuu we all know and love. There were some great episodes, like episode 4 and the last episode, especially with the final rally. The rise of Tsukishima was a bright point, and made me love him when I originally hated his character during the first season. Overall a solid 7/10, and excited for the next season of this show (whenever it may arrive).
After this point, I was too lazy to put my notes into full sentences, so because I want to put this out ASAP, here they are in full rough-draft mode.
4. Flip Flappers (7/10):
- Didn’t know what I was watching the first 5 or so episodes: not good or bad, just a thing
- Episode 6 was one of the best episodes of anime I’ve seen in a while
- Nice that the symbolism isn’t the only thing needed to understand the show: if you don’t want it, then that’s okay
- Animation very on point: great during action scenes
- Sometimes episodes could be hit or miss depending on whether you like what they’re parodying (Mad Max and mecha parodies weren’t really my thing); still though, fun to watch
- Whole arc with Mimi was a bit boring compared to previous episodes
- An interesting experience, decent show
5. Hibike! Euphonium 2 (6/10):
- Not as good as first season, and I think the multiple arc thing was the main reason
- Show felt very detached the first few episodes, especially with main conflict/source of drama coming from secondary characters
- Got better later through the season
- Yuri undertones are still not my thing, decide already KyoAni whether there is or isn’t going to be romance (doesn’t even have to be main ship)
6. Yuri!!! on Ice (6/10):
- Overall decent show
- Didn’t really care for the coupling of Yuri and Victor, and not because gay couple
- There were some fanservice-y moments that I didn’t enjoy (Swiss dude)
- Animation-wise was lacking other than first episode, but can’t really blame them as ice-skating hard as hell to animate
- Ending was a bit eh, everything felt a bit rushed
- Was a bit stale in the middle/end with the format of short performances one episode and free skate the next
7. To Be Hero (6/10):
- A decently done short
- Funny toilet humor, and scenes that were pretty emotional as well; did a nice job of blending both types of scenes
- Plot-wise was a bit confusing for finale until Reddit post mentioned what it was
- Actually pretty good animation during the action scenes
8. Watashi ga Motete Dousunda (6/10):
- Great comedy during the first few episodes, fell apart when they introduced Nishima (can’t blame them for that though, would get stale otherwise)
- Actually hated Kae’s character design, and the others as well
- The whole brother thing was a bit weird
- Still had some stupidly cliche stuff like the boob grab and the fall on the heroine stuff that harem anime usually have
- Ending was something I didn’t really mind, nobody was going to get chosen anyway
- Overall it was okay
9. Sengoku Choujuu Giga (5/10):
- Getting “second season”, should be interesting
- Some episodes completely flew over my head (like the singing one), but overall is a decently done short
- Comedy is very much improvised, but I enjoy it
- Animation very average
- Historical references once again sail over my head, only this time it is somewhat important to the show. Still entertaining nevertheless
10. Stella no Mahou (4/10):
- Good first half, horrible second half
- When it was just Honda and the three, it was mildly entertaining CGDCT
- Then they introduce new character to the club, and I HATE her
- My pet peeve of not believing someone when telling truth: annoys me so much
- Not to mention some questionable scenes, like Tamaki strip or the whole baby-making thing
- Overall a meh show
11. Nyanbo! (4/10):
- A two cour short that isn’t finished
- Yes, it’s made for kids, but still pretty bad
- Animation style is actually really nice, only good part of show along with opening song
- Female characters only exist to love the MC
- Other characters fit cliches to a T
- Somewhat dreading the second half of the show
12. Kiitarou Shounen no Youkai Enikki (3/10):
- Pretty dang cliche short
- Characters so bad, the only reason this show is bad to me
- Had some moments, but JPP hand joke (can count them on a mangled hand)
13. Okusama ga Seitokaichou!+! (2/10):
- Kept the lewd of the first season but left out all of the nice heartwarming moments with main couple
- Painful to watch, with every girl being either tsundere or airheaded, and Ui just looking on
- Went the harem route, which went about as well as you would expect
- Seriously though, only remember half an episode when main couple were doing romantic things; pretty bad
- Somewhat understandable as apparently manga at this time was going through changes (different magazine, guidelines, etc.), but still seems like they could skip to good part...
- Bad sequel to an okay show.
And that’s all for this week! Thanks for reading: sorry about the crude notes for most of them: I wanted to put this out as soon as possible. Overall, a pretty meh season, but had its moments.
Well anyway, thanks for reading, and I’ll see you in the next post which looks to either be the new TWiA post or the 2016 Awards post! See you then!
