Will you (Theoretically) Marry me?
Spencer Reid x Romance Book Reader
summary: You and spencer discuss a trope you'd been reading a lot of lately
a/n: Slight spoilers for 'In a Jam' by Kate Canterbury if anyone wants to avoid those.
Would you (Theoretically) Marry me?
Your shared apartment with Spencer was filled with books. You had more bookshelves than made sense, according to the friends who had helped you all move. It had taken you a long time to unpack and sort through. You’d ended up sorting by genre as well as alphabetically, because you’d felt weird slotting your fantasy and romance novels next to first editions spencer collected.
It wasn’t that you felt inferior or anything, you knew Spencer was not going to judge you for reading romance but they didn’t go together. So, there were romance bookshelves, fantasy bookshelves, scifi bookshelves, first edition bookshelves, a few literature bookshelves, science bookshelves (sorted by type of course) and two “TBR” bookshelves in the living room.
You knew Spencer could afford living by himself but he’d been going through it and when you couldn’t anymore he suggested getting a place together rather than deal with roommates like your last ones. You felt a little like he pitied you but also honored. You knew he wouldn’t move in with just anyone. You spent an evening at the dining table colour coding chore charts and outlining each other's pet peeves to make it as smooth as possible.
You and Spencer often discussed what you were reading. You loved discussing the fantasy series you were reading with him and he loved hearing about the romance books. He always had fun insights into trends or tropes. You’d been on a ‘Marriage of Convenience’ kick recently and he had noticed. It made him curious.
You’d let him borrow a few of the books when he went on a case and didn’t really expect him to enjoy it. He seemed to though, because he picked up another one a week later as you were both reading quietly in the living room. The book sat open on his crossed legs, and he was wearing the glasses he so rarely wore.
“Y/N?” he asked and you looked up from your book
“Yeah, Spence?” you asked
“If one of the scenarios like in your books came up, would you marry me?” he asked you. You blinked a few times, surprised at the question and took a moment to study his face before answering.
He didn’t seem nervous or shy, or like he was concerned at all. He looked more like he did when he posed a theory, or told you about a fact. Scientific, curious.
“Of course.” you said, a small smile on your lips.
“Really?” he asked, a little surprised, his eyebrows shooting up.
You nodded, gesturing to the shared living space “Mhm. We already live together and we know we get along.” you reasoned “And you’re my friend. We already share custody of the bookshelves” you add.
Spencer nods slowly, wetting his lips. You let him think for a moment “That does seem to be a trend within the books. Friends getting married. Except in Historical Romance.” he observed. He was reading ‘In a Jam’ by Kate Canterbury and you knew the main characters were childhood friends in that one.
“It is.” you agree “Its sometimes easier to imagine marrying a friend than a stranger. But I like those books too.” you mention. Spencer hums thoughtfully. You can tell he is thinking hard, so you ask “Why do you ask?”
“Arranged marriages have a lower divorce rate than love matches,” he says. It’s not an answer to your question exactly but you know he will get there, so you wait. “That might have more to do with cultural attitudes than success within the marriage.” he counters himself.
It’s hard not to smile when you see him like this. He’s relaxed, dressed casually and somehow that makes him so much prettier. You love his brain. “Mmm?” you ask, showing him you are paying attention.
He holds up the book “I like the practicality of it.” he settles on “There are usually clear boundaries and social expectations and they discuss things a lot more than in other romance novels.” he settles on.
That you understand. You didn’t have the rushed sort of childhood Spencer did, but that doesn’t mean that you were a social butterfly. Sometimes ‘social scripts’ as Spencer would call them confuse the hell out of you as well. You nod “Yeah, it’s nice to have a clear idea of what is expected from a relationship.” you agree
Spencer nods “And the books are often about supporting each other. Either financially or through family or societal pressures, the latter is something I can empathise with.”
You beam at him “Me too.” you say. Spencer knows this of course, but you want to contribute “I like that genuine affection grows though. That love happens.”
Spencer bites his lip and you groan internally. You hate when he does that because you always end up jealous. You want to bite his lip. He doesn’t seem inclined to talk, just lost in thought so uou decide to ask
“Would you marry me, if something like in the books came up?”
Spencer seems surprised you’d asked, blinking at you before giving you a blinding smile “Yeah. I’d marry you. Our idiosyncrasies compliment each other"
You smile back, feeling warm “Oh?” you ask. You kind of know what he means. You also like things to be clear, you don’t like assumptions and you tend to overcommunicate which suits Spencer just fine. You like hearing it though. About how you two fit together.
“Mhm. Both of us have the same level of care for our books. We don’t work conflicting hours or mind being alone for a while if it happens that way. Neither of us have allergies that would restrict the other’s habits and we are both fairly tidy. We both prefer for social cues to be explicit. We enjoy communication and each other's company. Those are all good foundations.” he said “Not that they are all necessary for a relationship or marriage. Marriages happen without those everyday, but it does point to us being compatible.”
It makes you blush a little “Compatable.” he’s so sweet. Deciding you like this conversation and don’t want it to end you ask “If we did get married, how would we do it? Courthouse?” you ask, because that is what they do in the book he is reading.
That seems to give him pause “Weddings are expensive. The average cost of a wedding in the United States is $33,000.” you wince. You do not have that kind of money to drop and you can’t imagine Spencer does either. Not for a wedding or for a marriage that is not a love match “But I would also want my mom there. And Garcia may cry if I don’t invite her.”
You laugh, having heard stories about Penelope Garcia that have you feeling fond of a stranger. You don’t doubt him at all. You on the other hand can only think of a few people you’d want there. You tell him as much.
He rakes his hands through his hair and seems to be tallying things in his head “Micro weddings are increasingly popular and affordable with the rising cost of living in the US.” he told you as his answer. You knew what he meant
“Okay, sold.” you nod “What about rings?”
Spencer looked at his hand, then yours and said “They are traditional. I think I would like them. Hypothetically.”
You grin “Well, I’m in. So long as we can have cake.”
Spencer smiles widely, like he doesn’t often do. It’s a beaming smile. It could light up a whole city and makes your insides feel like goo “It’s a deal. Hypothetically.”
“Hypothetically.” you agree, knowing there is no proposal in this conversation “You keep me in the loop on any marriage of convenience situations, okay?.” you say
He seems to realise what the conversation meant, the gravity of it and he blushes, eyes averting from yours but he nods.
You both go back to your books. You wonder if he will ask about the alien romances next.

Hi Fir! :D
Thanks for giving advice, I really do appreciate it. Though, please don't feel pressured to answer anything I ask. Writing should be fun and with you writing Cantata and answering RO reaction asks, I don't want to add unnecessary stress by thinking of answers to my questions too! Apologies if that comes off as me being overly worried, I just legitimately don't want you to get worried over a question for advice when you have other things on your plate!😅
That said, here is question numero uno :)
How do you write when you don’t have people to bounce ideas off of? It’s just me, myself and I over here and, uh, that doesn’t seem like it’s going to change anytime soon lol. And I’m sure that other people also have that experience of writing alone for one reason or another. Not just for IFs but for their own original books and fanfictions too (not me looking at my pile of ongoing and abandoned WIPs, haha). Like many things, writing is something that is much easier when you have someone else there with you that's invested.
As you said, writing in a vacuum is really hard! Not impossible, but hard at times. Do you have any ideas as to what people can do when they don’t have that sort of support? Something to make things just a little easier.
Thanks again and I hope you’re doing well! <3
Hi Blue! Ooh, starting with the big questions. Okay, long post incoming!
My knee jerk reaction is to say “Are you sure there’s no one else?” But that doesn’t help you. I volunteer myself as tribute, but no pressure, and as you say, many people simply write alone. So here’s some tips that help me brainstorm ideas when my cohorts are unavailable.
People Watch
I have a small journal I always carry in my tote and I jot down little scenarios I see or conversations I overhear. Make up stories behind the people you see. Who are they? Why are they there? And be granular—why are they there on that particular day? I once wrote an entire short story around a snippet of conversation I overheard on the L on my way to college in Chicago.
Consume Media
Read, read, READ!! And watch movies, documentaries, broadway, listen to music, get lost in a rabbit hole on Wikipedia. But especially read. If you discover a book you like, read more from that author. Read everything you can.
Write What You Know
And by this I mean you personally. Write about something that happened to you or you witnessed. We tend to think our own lives are boring but even the small moments make good fodder for stories or character studies. One short story I wrote was about a time my parents accidentally locked themselves out of the house at night. They managed to wake my younger sister through her window and were trying to get her to wake me to open the door, but she was afraid to wake me up. Don’t know why, I was an angel. 😇 Ahem.
It’s a small instance but it makes for a great character study. You don’t have to write that exact moment truthfully, feel free to embellish—whatever helps generate ideas.
I am an awesome big sister, btw. Just ask me, I’ll tell you. 😉
Avoid Scope Creep
I’ve seen mixed opinions on tumblr when it comes to the scope of your writing. I’m on the side of keeping things small. I’ll preface this by saying I have a professional background of project management, creative briefs, and business proposals. I’ve been trained to keep my scope manageable, but I honestly do think it’s best. Set real expectations, small goals, and write short dabbles.
And if I may add, this is a skill that will help you professionally.
Don’t Force It
This is another I’ve seen mixed advice on. Many people will say push through the writers block and write what you can, even if it’s a few sentences. I say close that laptop, iPad, phone, whatever and go for a walk. Watch a movie. Play a video game. If you don’t write for 2 weeks or 2 months, that’s fine. If you’re not enjoying it, forcing it will only make it worse. You’ll start second guessing everything you’ve already written. Step away, go do some people watching at the park, then return when the inspiration strikes.
These are all tips that helped me, but of course everyone is different. My sister likes using writing prompts when she’s short on ideas, but I personally have never been a fan. They feel like homework, lol.
However, I do 100% recommend taking creative writing workshops at the local college if you can. It’s a great way to generate and share ideas; not to mention nothing helps you accept criticism better than having a dozen of your peers absolutely demolish your writing. 😭
I hope that helped, and I’m honored that you’re seeking advice from me! ❤️

Hi!!! I know it’s out of character for him but can I request Jax comforting a gender neutral reader? And if it’s not too much trouble, could it also include some cuddles and kisses? Please and thank you!!
Notes: Lucky for you, Anon, I’m just as delusional as you are. Even luckier for you, I am one of those neurodivergent people who imagine a wildly detailed scenario in their heads at night as they fall asleep. So on rough days, when I need some comfort, I imagine this scenario on a regular basis. Enjoy, Anon, I’m glad someone is just as crazy as I am.

Today was rough. This recent adventure might as well have been your own personal hell. You didn’t know how else to describe it. It wasn’t like the adventure was directed at you personally, it was just another one of Caine’s random adventures. But it happened to hit all of your sore spots.
You had your ways to try and get through it. You hummed the lyrics of your favorite songs to yourself. If it was safe enough, you stepped to the side for a moment and tried to ground yourself with the 5-3 breathing technique. You tried to remove yourself from the situation as much as possible, which didn’t really work all that well.
By the time the adventure came to a close, you were spacing out regularly. You wanted to be anywhere but there. So when the portal finally opened to take everyone back to the tent, you were the first one through it. You were done.
You didn’t even have the energy to be around people for the rest of the day. You went straight to your room to unwind and relax. Which was mostly you just staring up at your ceiling in absolute silence. Normally, you’d have your music blasting so loud that you couldn't even hear yourself think, but in the Digital Circus, you didn’t have your playlist at the tip of your fingers like you used to. So the silence would have to do.
It didn’t take long before you heard a small knock on your door. “What?” You snapped, expecting Ragatha to come and talk it out with you. You were in no mood for that. There was no answer, just the opening and closing of your door as you looked over to see who it was. “Sorry.” It was just Jax.
He gave you a soft smile, not one of his usual large toothy grins he displays for everyone else. “Rough day, huh.”
It wasn’t a question. It was a simple statement of fact. It was a rough day- hellish more like it. He was there for all of it. Jax noticed every time you started whispering lyrics to yourself, tried to use breathing to ground yourself or stepped away for a moment to remind yourself it was just an adventure. He noticed how you instantly came to your bedroom instead of socializing with the others.
You weren’t exactly a social butterfly, but you never separated yourself so suddenly from everyone. Usually, you unwound with the others, laughed and joked with them. So he knew something was up the minute you closed yourself off in your bedroom. He wasn’t good at the whole “comfort” thing, but he could try for you.
“Yeah.” You sighed, rubbing at your temples, “I keep my head down. I stick to my own routine to keep myself sane, I don’t stir up s%$!#t with the other members-- hell the most crap I’ve stirred up is my relationship with you--, I try to find fun in every adventure. Day in, day out. And I’ve done good, almost nothing has gotten to me. But today… Today just felt like a personal attack from Caine.” You began ranting, but every word you said was true.
You kept your head down to avoid provoking Caine as much as possible, even tried to find fun in all his adventures somehow. You didn’t stir up trouble with the other members of the circus just for your own entertainment, everyone was already going through their own problems here and you didn’t feel like it would be fun to add to their problems. The most controversial thing you’ve done was make your relationship with the purple rabbit public and that’s when everyone tried to warn you it was a bad idea, that he was nothing but a jerk, but you still went through with it anyway. Your routine keeps you sane in this digital hellscape that sends most people spiraling.
There are few things that get to you. Very few things. The most that gets to you is the abstraction of your friends. You attend every makeshift funeral, even shed a few tears because they were real people out there in the real world, they were your friends.
Jax sat down on the edge of your bed, reaching out to rub your leg affectionately, “Maybe Caine’s just salty that he can’t seem to get to you like he’s gotten to everyone else.” He suggested with a small hint of amusement to his tone as he tried to cheer you up.
It worked. Slightly.
You were still in a bad mood, but it wasn’t as bad as it was a moment ago.
“Maybe.” You got up, shifting around on your mattress to be able to lay your head in his lap. His comforting gestures were something you craved right now. “But did it have to be that?”
His hand moved to begin rubbing up and down your arm. “Want me to kick his a%$!#s for you?”
Now that got a little laugh out of you. Imagining the purple rabbit beating up the AI ringmaster that was basically god in this place. He never had a chance of winning, Caine could lock him in his room with a snap of his fingers if he wanted to, or if that was too much work he could just simply paralyze him for a certain amount of time.
The fact that he even suggested that for you, made you smile a little more. It made you even more certain that you made the right decision in starting your relationship with him. The others may see him as a jerk, but you saw another side of him. You saw a side that cared, that made you smile and laugh when you were feeling down, a side that comforted you.
“Good luck with that.” You chuckled.
“There’s that smile.” He leaned down to place a kiss on your head and then leaned back to lay on your bed properly. You, of course, moved with him, snuggling up close as you laid your head on his shoulder, facing him.
“You know, you’re not as bad as everyone says you are.”
“Hmm?” He hummed, giving you a confused look.
“Everyone says you’re a jerk, no one really likes you. But I get to see a different side of you. I get to see the side that cares, the side that makes me want to smile even when I feel like crap, the side that comforts me even though you really have no idea what you’re doing. I get to see a softer, sweeter side of you. I like this side of you.” You tell him with a yawn, the taxing day starting to get to you in a different way.
You were getting tired now, comfortable in Jax’s arms as you cuddled next to him. This was a feeling you haven’t felt in a long time. Not since you got trapped in the Digital Circus. It was nice to know it was still possible, even if you weren’t in your real body or in the real world.
Jax gave you another one of those soft genuine smiles of his, “Maybe I just share that side of me with the people who deserve it.” He said as he leaned forward again, closing the small gap between the two of you to place a proper kiss on your lips. It was soft and gentle, another thing that screamed “I care about you” without him actually saying the words. When he pulled away, he placed another kiss on your forehead, “Now, get some sleep, [Name]. You’ve had a long day.”

multiple please!!!!!!!! key lime + lemon sorbet for seven, strawberry for ryoma, and coconut mango for korosensei :)
[switching it up this time not just focusing on ichi HAHA also wishing you good luck with your bloodwork charlie!!!!!!!! i really REALLY hate getting it done too, but you got this ^^!!!!!!! lots of fun things to do and think about after this obstacle!!!]
self ship ask game
yay thank you for the asks and for kind words!!!! im all good now! ^_^
strawberry: before getting together, how did your F/O realize they had a crush on you? How did they act around you once they realized they were head over heels?
Before Ryoma realized he had a crush on Reito, he always found himself just wanting to be near her. He subconsciously looked for her in the crowd whenever their classmates got together to discuss ideas about escaping the school, he found himself walking next to her whenever they were exploring, he always stood next to her during class trials... Her presence was calming, a bit of respite in this hectic killing game. She was always kind and understanding towards him, while also challenging some of his more pessimistic thoughts. She respected his boundaries, never pressuring him to talk about his past or interact with the other students if he didn't want to. It was only when he realized he wanted Reito to know more about him, he wanted her to talk to him, that he finally came to the realization that he had a crush on her.
After that, he found himself torn between wanting to distance himself from her or staying near her. He didn't want her to get involved with him, because he's a murderer, he's supposed to die. it would be a lost cause and she'd only get herself hurt. He also didn't even know if he could fully trust her. Considering she was the Ultimate Actor, she could just be putting on an act. Hell, she could even be the mastermind behind the killing game!
But... he didn't really believe that. He was just scared of hurting her, if he were to get killed. He didn't want her to experience that same feeling he had when he lost everything. even though he wanted to be close to her, he'd only distance himself a little bit. Reito had given him a sliver of hope, had helped him open his heart to his classmates... so he was going to hold on for as long as he could. And maybe, once all of this was over, he'd be able to be closer to her.
While he's crushing on her, it's not super obvious since he acts how he normally does, but you can see some cracks in demeanor. His cheeks get a little rosier when theyre together, and he's always stealing glances at her. He almost broke completely one time when they were exploring together with Shuichi, Maki, Kaito and Miu. The lights had gone out, and while Miu and Kaito were freaking out and Shuichi was trying to calm them down, Ryoma heard Reito say his name, "Ryoma?" and he felt her hand on his shoulder. She said, "Oh, there you are! Sorry, I got a little scared, I can barely see anything when it's dark." He was so flustered by her touch that he was almost glad that the lights were out so she couldn't see how red his face was (turns out it was Kokichi who turned out the lights as a prank lol)
lemon sorbet: does your F/O get jealous easily?
Saeyoung doesn't really get jealous easily, it's moreso that he's protective of MC whenever he sees that she's uncomfortable around someone that keeps trying to talk to her. He does also pout jokingly whenever he sees her cuddling with a plushie or being affectionate with their robot cat, and says that he wants cuddles and pets too (and of course MC obliges ^_^)
key lime: how would you describe your self-ship’s aesthetic?
cold late nights and starry skies, warm hugs and cold hands, a quiet corner in a crowded party and when you're ready you dance the night away, playing video games and sleeping in, soft whispers and loud laughter, kisses that taste like honey, cats, cats and cats :3
coconut mango: what mementos do you and your F/O treasure?
Korosensei likes taking pictures, and he treasures every single one with Usagi in them. Ones where she's supporting or joking around with their students, ones where she noticed him and posed or smiled for him, ones where she focused on her work and has that cute furrow in her brow when she concentrates, ones where it's just the two of them together enjoying each other's company... Usagi is a bit embarrassed at how many pictures he's taken of her, especially of the ones that she thinks arent very flattering, but she cant help but smile and tear up when Korosensei says she looks beautiful no matter what she's doing, and that he treasures every moment that he has with her.
He's also made a habit of pressing flowers and petals into a journal of his, ones that remind him of Usagi, like lavender, or the petals of the plum blossoms they and their students got to visit together. They didn't have much time left together, so he wanted to preserve as much as possible for Usagi to look back on and remember him by.
He writes little encouraging notes in her journals, he collects the little doodles she makes on her papers while she works, he's just a very sentimental guy!
#i wanted to add more questions to answer but this is already really long ;_; i will just wait for more asks... smiles cutely#thank you again for the asks! i kind of wish i knew who you were you seem really cool!#(no pressure for you to go off anon if you dont want to though ^_^)#self ship#self shipping#self shipping community#romantic f/o#f/o x oc#f/o x s/i

I know tag wranglers do a lot of work connecting tags etc. Is there anything authors can do to make their jobs easier for them like trying to mostly use canonical tags or not making tag comments?
Thanks!
This is a great question, and I'll do my best to answer it but I do hope that some wranglers add on in the notes! I'm also just going to preface this with the fact that you should still tag however you like to tag. This list isn't meant to be a checklist or anything. It's just info I've picked up over the years and you can take or leave each piece as you see fit.
Okay, so the first thing that most non-wranglers should know is that wranglers see tags separately from the fic. They get a big bin full of tags to sort through and match up in the system, but they'll only see your fic and the other tags you've added to it if they decide to go look.
That's important to know because sometimes a user will tag something like [character] is so sexy and then also tag by which I mean they're a huge dork. The wranlger won't see that second tag and won't know that they're connected so your sarcastic tag will end up synned (matched up to) sexy!Character or whatever the canonical is, as if that was the meaning you were going for.
Another good thing to know is that tags can only be synned if they only have 1 idea in them. So if you tag, say, [character] is gay and autistic then the wrangler can't actually syn that to either [character] is gay or character is autistic because it only half-fits either tag. To have them synned in the database, you would need to tag those two ideas separately.
You might have already seen the post I made referencing the fact that you don't have to tag multiple versions of the same idea (unless you want to for the aesthetic) because the synning that wranglers do makes sure that tagging one idea allows users to filter for all versions of that idea. But in case you didn't know that, now you do!
Wranglers are often members of the fandoms they wrangle, but they aren't always. Sometimes they'll take on a fandom that doesn't otherwise have a wrangler because they like to do research or because they like small fandoms or for many other reasons. But that means that if you're tagging your OCs by name, you should add (OC) to the end so that they know it's not a canon character that they aren't familiar with. This is double true in huge fandoms like Star Wars where there are millions of canon characters and just as many OCs.
Wranglers don't "seed" tags in fandoms. For a tag to exist, users need to create it. The rule of thumb is at least 3 fics from 3 separate authors, but that's very much the minimum and in fast-moving or huge fandoms the bar is probably higher. Also, for brand new fandoms, it's entirely possible that they won't know you exist until you tell them. Back in January I was the first person to write in a brand new fandom so I knew I had to start the tags, and I waited until there were 25 or so works by 15 or so creators before I emailed Support because I know I have to be patient - but I'm still impatient by nature lol.
Another thing to know is that tags are kind of like proton packs - they can't cross the streams. If you put a tag in the Character field by mistake, wranglers can't move it to the Additionals. This can also work in your favour, though, because if you have a minor character or minor relationship that you want to tag because there's some kind of fandom drama happening and people want to be able to avoid them, you can tag them in the Additional Tags so that people can know they're in there, but the people who like that character or ship can still filter the Character and Relationship tags without seeing a bunch of works that don't really focus on them.
This got super long, so I'll end with your question about tag comments. I know people worry that it makes extra work for tag wranglers if you get all chatty in your fic tags but I've been reassured by more than one wrangler over the course of several years now that it's no extra work. They just shovel those tags into the gaping maw of the Unfilterable Beast - which is the same thing they do with those tags that have multiple concepts in them. If it can't be synned, then that's where they go.
(keep tagging that way, though, if you like to because that's how new concepts get created and eventually canonized)
Alright, I that's all I can think of off the top of my head, and the list was actually longer than I thought! Wranglers: please do add on with other things you wish users knew, and please correct me if anything has changed since the last time I delved into this topic!
Editing to add: a wrangler pointed out in the tags that [character] is autistic and gay can itself become a single tag if enough people use it. That's true of other tags with multiple meanings as well. They just can't be synned with existing tags in the meantime.

So I dont know if this is your style but I figured I lose nothing by asking!
I have been really wanting to see a Bob Floyd x reader, baby announcement using B.O.B (since hangman calls him Baby on Board) like reader wear a shirt with BOB right on the stomach as a hint to either the dagger squad or Bob himself and it takes way to long for people to get it 🤣 just a thought!
Your fic's have been a saving grace for my Lewis Pullman hyper fixation!
I love this idea! It's so cute and I KNOW the dagger squad would be so excited.
You cannot believe you let Jake and Nat convince you of this. Is the idea cute? Yes. Will this put a smile on Bob's face? Also, yes. So, in theory, this is a good idea. It's witty and adorable, which Bob loves.
Except you've been standing next to him the entire night, and he hasn't mentioned it. It's gotten to a point where Nat pointed at your shirt a complimented it in hopes Bob realizes. He, instead, complimented it as well.
It's comedic and torturous. You want so badly for him to figure it out on his own, but you aren't sure he will. It's not because he's stupid; he's far from that. He's just a little oblivious to the hint you're dropping. In other words, he's not picking up what you're putting down.
You haven't had a lick of alcohol either, of course, for the baby's sake. However, that can't even be seen as a hint, either, because you don't get drunk on the regular. So, you're stuck hoping something will click in his brain.
"Hey, you're looking a little different," Jake says. Your eyes snap to him with a glare that could kill him where he stands. Jake's eyes are darting between you and Bob with an expression that can only say 'come on, man'. You quickly realize he's trying to aid the process. "Have you been doing anything new?" He says with a smirk.
"A lot more cardio," You say through gritted teeth. Bob's attention has already been grabbed by the conversation. His eyes were bouncing back and forth. "I thought this shirt really showed that off." You cannot be anymore clearer.
"You do look amazing," Bob agrees with a sparkle in his eyes. "You've been glowing recently," He adds with a smile.
"Yeah, I just find it weird she's wearing a shirt with your call sign on it," Natasha finally joins in. She plants the butt of her pool stick on the ground as her investment in the topic grows. "Y'know, it reminds me of those stickers people put on their cars. What's it stand for again?" She taps her chin.
"Oh, baby on board," Bob answers with a nod. You want to slam your head into a wall. He is right on the money, and yet, he is somehow using it as printer paper. "I always thought those were cute," He chuckles. Natasha and Jake are left staring at him with amusement.
Bob turns towards you and glances at your shirt for the thirty-first time tonight. His smile drops after a few seconds, and his eyes widen. They flicker to lock with yours, and there's a question on his tongue he can't quite get out.
"Is that what it means?" He asks loudly. He already knows the answer, but he just needs to hear you say it.
"Yeah, it is." You can't stop the grin from growing on your face as his eyes light up. The moment he knows the answer, he's lifting you off the ground. His arms are tight around your torso, and you can hear his laughter.
"I'm going to be a father!" He cheers while placing you back down. Bob's enthusiasm gathers the attention of the rest of the dagger squad. Everyone besides Jake and Natasha is surprised. They all let out a few congratulations while clinking their drinks together.
"Fucking finally. I was starting to think I'd have to just straight up tell him," Jake jokes with a slight nudge to your arm.
"I would have snapped his arm for ruining the surprise," Natasha steps up next to him. Before she can say anything else, Bob is pulling you away. He's already heading out of the bar with a mission in mind.
"Honey, where are we going?" You ask in a sing-song voice.
"I just found out my wife is pregnant. I'm spending the rest of my life pampering you," He says while pulling out the car keys. He says that as if he doesn't already do that. However, you won't say anything to argue against him. You know it's pointless.

Howdy again! I love your writing for the batfamily sm so here I am again!
The bat boys forgetting to kiss their s/o when they get home from patrol (it can be smthn else, just them getting home from somewhere) like this TikTok !!
If you see this I hope you have a lovely day! Thank you sm !!

Jason
You couldn’t help but pout when Jason passed you by with not even a little kiss to the cheek or your forehead.
Jason has never, ever missed an opportunity to kiss you when he came back from patrol as it would vary from what type of mood he’d come back in.
Soft, slow and passionate for the ones that went well.
Rough, hard and aggressive for the ones that didn’t go so well and had to involve getting his hands dirty.
So when he completely blanked you at the door, you were confused and slightly hurt at this as Jason was never one to forget to kiss, hug and or cuddle you, ever!
‘Excuse me mr Todd.’ You called as Jason looked up from his book. ‘You forgot something very, very important.’ You add but Jason only smiled as he sets aside the book, pulling back the covers as he pats his lap twice. ‘I didn’t forget, I just wanted us to get comfortable before I kiss you senseless.’ He admits as he watched you with an adoring look as you got close enough for him to pull you to him by the waist, your hands braced on his shoulders as you giggled.
‘Are you sure you didn’t forgot or are you trying to make up for the fact that you forgot to kiss me senseless at the door?’ You asked sarcastically, already knowing the answer as you felt Jason cup your face between his large hands, his lips mere inches away from your own as his breath fanned your face.
‘Can’t it be a bit of both?’ He jokes, now how long should a kiss you for?’ He wonders aloud and you couldn’t help but make a suggestion. ‘Ten seconds to smack up for the ten minutes you’ve been here and haven’t kissed me yet.’ You really wanted that kiss and you’ll get it however you could if Jason was the one offering it up to you.
Jason hummed as he rested his forehead against yours, murmuring. ‘I’ll double it for you being a sweetheart and waiting for me when you didn’t have to.’ Before giving you a soft, tender kiss as his lips weaved between your own passionately as though kissing you was something Jason took immense pride in.
Which he did, very much so as he brought his hands back down to your waist, keeping you close as you moved your hands to cup his jaw, feeling it move under your touch as you hummed against his lips for the next couple of seconds before feeling the need to breath.
‘Did you enjoy my make up kiss chipmunk.’ Jason asked with a smirk but you could tell he was being genuine in his question. You loved this man and his soft heart that you couldn’t help but smother his face in kisses for the sake of showing him that you love him just as much as he loved you, making him chuckle wholeheartedly as he somehow tugged you even closer to him just to feel you pressed against him, reminding him that you were here with him and not a figment of his imagination as he drowned himself in your affection.
‘It was more than perfect my sweet boy.’ You said as you kissed both of his warm cheeks and cuddled yourself into his chest, wanting nothing then to be as close as you physically could to him.
Bruce
Noticed that you were pouting more than usual and would occasionally huff disgruntled from time to time, but it was enough for him to want to speak up about it.
‘Is there a reason you’re huffing my dear.’ He’d ask as you were both getting ready for bed.
‘You didn’t kiss me when you came back from patrol.’ You pouted even further as you suddenly felt a little childish about your grievances with him. Bruce couldn’t help but smile as he brought his hands up to your face and began caressing your cheeks with his thumbs.
‘I didn’t?’ He asked but his eyes shone with a hint of mischief.
‘No you didn’t, you’ve left me with no kiss for the past thirty minutes.’ You replied as you melted further into his hands while trying to still be upset with him for not kissing you after a long night of patrol, sure it was a little selfish but it was your thing to convey that things were okay or going to be okay at least!
‘I apologise my dear,’ Bruce said as he tightened his grip on you, keeping you staring his chest as he kept an observant eye on you for your every reaction, ‘how could I ever make it up to you? Maybe this?’ He trails off a she lowers his head so it was in your neck as he trailed it with slow, gentle and lingering kisses that had you bringing a hand up to his hair, giving it a half hearted tug before caressing it as a apology of your own.
‘It’s a start.’ You hummed as you closed your eyes, ‘but I’d much rather have your lips on mine rather than on my neck.’ You added as you felt Bruce stop and lift his head from your neck, much to your dismay as you opened your eyes to see his face within inches away from yours.
‘I’d gladly kiss you anywhere your heart desires but if it’s your lips that you want me most, then who am I to refuse.’ Bruce purrs as he was about to close the distance between the two of you, only for the door to burst open as a little Dick and little Jason ran into yours and Bruce’s room.
‘What’s happened, are you both okay?’ You said as you pulled away from Bruce, looking between the two fidgeting boys.
‘Jason threw up.’ Dick said as he helped keep his brother upright.
‘Sorry.’ Jason said groggily, the poor boy looking deathly pale.
You and Bruce looked at each other knowingly, that kiss was going to have to wait as you both left to bed to tend to your precious boys.
Dick
You didn’t confront him about his blatant avoidance in kissing you when coming home from patrol until you were both tucked in bed, ready for sleep when you suddenly spoke in the silence.
‘How long have you been home for my sweet Dickie bird?’ You asked as you rested against his chest, tracing patterns into his skin.
‘Twenty minutes? Why?’ Dick asked, slightly confused why you were focusing on the duration of when he got home after patrol.
‘So for the past twenty minutes you didn’t realise that you didn’t kiss me like you usually do when coming home from patrol?’ You inquired as you saw Dick’s confused expression drop as the realisation settled in for him. ‘Starting to recall?’ You added sarcastically as you rested your chin on his chest, brows raised as you watched his expression become apologetic as he looked at you.
‘Aww has my cutie been waiting for me to realise my error and make up for my negligence of your needs and wants?’ Dick asked as he chuckled softly, finding it adorable that all you wanted before drifting off to sleep was a kiss from him, it warmed his heart to know that you thrived off of his affection like he did with yours. It was like a reminder that you loved each other and thought of one another constantly.
‘Yes, it was very rude of you to ignore me, even after I waited the entire night for you.’ You responded as though you were deeply disappointed, but you didn’t move away when Dick moved your head to kiss you on the lips, giving your bottom lip a playful bite as you groaned in response as you kept Dick against your lips by place your hand at the back of his head to get as many kisses as you could from your beautiful man.
‘Is my sweetheart satisfied now?’ Dick asks when he pulls away, ‘or did you want more kisses as compensation?’
You gave it some thought before looking at him, smiling slyly, ‘I think a few more kisses couldn’t hurt-‘ but it seemed as though dick was head of you as his lips were back on yours and your hand was back to tangle with his hair, keeping him close as Hayley feel asleep at the foot of your bed like the good pup she was.
Damian
Sees that your paying more attention to Titus then him, cuddling up to the Great Dane and talking to him as though he could respond and give you the much needed advice you needed.
‘What’re you doing treasure.’ He asked.
‘Did you hear that Titus? I sure didn’t.’ You said as you messed with Titus’s floppy ears as the dog remained calm and content with his current situation, that snd having your affection was a bonus for the doggo.
Damian groaned. ‘Is this because I didn’t kiss you once?’ You stopped playing with Titus’s ears but didn’t once look back to address him.
‘There’s a voice that I should be listening to but I don’t feel like doing so because apparently it’s childish and pathetic to want affection.’ You said aloud as you then got up from the floor and began to walk towards the bedroom with Titus on your heels along with your newest addition, Atticus, a golden retriever pup that Damian found out through Tim was about to be sent to a kill shelter.
‘I did not say that!’ Damian said as he followed after you, grabbing your arm in his grasp and pulling you so that you were face to face with him. ‘So stop being dramatic and let me make it up to you.’ He adds but you were stubborn to forgive him for his transgressions.
‘I don’t think I want that kiss now, you’ve wasted long enough to give it but haven’t so don’t bother-‘ before you could finished your sentence, Damian quickly kissed you on the lips before pulling away to shield his flustered expression behind his hand.
You blinked once, twice, three times before a massive smile graced across your face as you moved Damian’s hand to hold your own and intertwine your fingers as you dragged him to bed with you and the dogs.
‘You tricked me.’ Damian said as soon as he was in your shared bed, realising what had just happened within a short span of time, and the suspiciously quick change in emotions from you.
You merely shrug as you cuddle into his side. ‘Shouldn’t have forgotten to give me my kisses.’ You stated as though it was obvious and Damian couldn’t help but chuckle softly to himself at just how eager he was to make you happy, even giving you a kiss you claimed you were robbed of.
‘I shall keep that in mind for the future.’ Damian said as he pressed a kiss to the top of your head before falling asleep alongside you. He didn’t forget a single kiss in the future but he also did keep bringing in animals he found in dangerous situations.

♡⸝⸝ "fucked you in the bathroom, when we went to dinner"
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
“Where you going?”
You ask, as Drew stands up. The warmth of his hands caressing your thighs is gone, now running through his hair. “Bathroom,” he mumbles, barely meeting your eyes. He walks off, without another glance back at the table.
His sour mood is evident, by not only you, but all of your friends.
To be fair, he didn’t even want to come tonight. He pleaded desperately for you to stay in with him, offering things to you that was ridiculous. Such as, doing your laundry for a month (he doesn’t even do his own).
But you haven’t hung out with all your friends in a long time, and you missed them. So, tonight was non-negotiable with Drew.
And he gave up with trying to reason with you, hence, why he decided to join you here, at the nice restaurant. He didn’t even make an effort to engage nicely with them, chuckling under his breath at random times and answering questions with short answers. Whenever you were talking, he would purposely distract you by touching you under the table, making it awkward for you and your friends.
Drew knows your friends don’t like him; that’s why he’s sour. That’s also why he shows up to these hangouts, just to rub it in their faces.
“Why did you invite him?” Lucy groans, after Drew was out of eye sight. Your five other friends of this group nod too, all letting out groans of frustration. “Hello, earth to y/n, we. Don’t. Like. Him.”
“He insisted on joining,” you shrug, forcing a smile.
“Um, you could’ve insisted on him not joining,” Janet, another friend adds on.
Your friend group was filled with weird people with different opinions, but one thing they’ve collectively agreed on was: they hate Drew. ‘Hate’ is a strong word, but that was the only way to describe their feelings towards Drew.
They’ve expressed it a lot of times, so it’s become numb to you.
“Are you guys finally together though?” Gary asks, sitting beside you.
Oh. Every time they see you, they ask this question.
“Of course not,” Lucy answers for you, sending you a cocky grin. One you always disliked, because it made you feel small. “Classmates, huh?”
“A really bad label,” Stacy adds on. Yeah, as if you didn’t already know.
Great. Now it’s just your whole friend group judging you for being with Drew. Again. The last thing you needed from them.
“I visited his parents,” you aggressively say, stabbing into your food. Hopefully that will convince them Drew is a better person that what they think, right?
Wrong. They all ‘tsk’ in a disappointed manner, shaking their heads. “And…still classmates?”
“Well, he said I was his best friend,” you stuff the food in your mouth, “To his family.”
“He probably had to,” Josh speaks up this time, “and wow, is that the first time he called you his friend?”
You don’t miss the sarcasm in his voice, and you send him a glare. He raises his hands in defense, the table laughs.
You don’t find the humor in this situation. Why were they so judgmental towards the relationship with Drew? It’s not like he’s the biggest jackass ever. You’ve seen every side there is to Drew, they just don’t know him like you do. “Can you guys cut it off?” You say, not trying to hide the annoyance in your voice.
“We’re just joking,” Janet laughs, glancing around, “besides, we’re worried for you.”
You chew and swallow the food in your mouth, sending her an unappreciative smile, “‘worried’ for me?”
“Yes, he’s obviously not… well, in love with you,” Janet continues, “we don’t want you with someone who clearly doesn’t care for you.”
“He cares for me,” you defend, furrowing your eyebrows at them. You look around the table, seeing your friends glance down at their food, afraid to meet your eyes. “He cares for me.”
“Sure he does,” Stacy bitterly agrees with you. That tone pisses you off. “Maybe privately, he does, but what about in public? Starting off with the most basic, labels.”
You hate how right your friends are. As rude and mean they’re being, deep down, you know they’re right. The ‘no attachments’ thing is bullshit, especially when nothing about the two of you is casual.
Five, no close to six months, nothing about that is causal.
“That…doesn’t matter,” you murmur. Wrong; it mattered a lot, to everyone and to you. You just hated to admit you weren’t as chill or casual as Drew was, how he made everything romantic seem friendly with you.
When you look around, everyone is now staring at you pitifully.
You didn’t like that. That pity stare. There’s nothing to be pity of. Bunch of people around the world right now might be having situation-ships too. Nothing to pity. Nothing to be ashamed of.
Yeah. That’s what you keep brainwashing yourself to believe.
‘The girl that he bangs on his couch’. Yeah. Nothing to be ashamed of.
Your phone on the table lights up, and it reads bathroom. now.
Drew. “Um, excuse me,” you stand up, excusing yourself to the bathroom.
As you slowly get up and walk away, your friends weren’t very careful with the volume of their voice. You hear one of them calling you a loser, still hanging around just for a good dick to suck.
That must be Janet. Her lonely ass must be jealous.
But part of you knew she wasn’t wrong. You were a loser. The biggest loser to exist. The loser of losers, if that even is a thing.
Casual. Your friends succeeded once again, in making you doubt everything with Drew.
——
“Really boring, right?”
Drew pulls you in by the waist, a lazy smile on his lips as he stares down at you. He leans against the sink, making you stand between his legs.
This restaurant had two bathrooms, each with their own sink inside. So, Drew took full advantage of that.
“Hmm,” you hum carelessly. You didn’t want agree with him; you tried to make this evening nice, but his attitude towards your friends just weren’t helping. You keep your gaze around the collar of his jacket, not wanting to meet his eyes.
“Something wrong?” He asks, playfulness still hinted in his words. His hand rub circles around your waist, as he tries to make eye contact with you, bending his head down to your level.
You advert your gaze even more, now focusing on the bracelet around his wrist. Now that you think about it, he always has this on, since the day you got it for him.
Was that casual to do? To keep the bracelet on at all times.
“Look at me, would you?” Drew’s tone turns serious, and he pinches the side of your waist harshly.
You flinch, finally looking up at him. You meet his blue eyes, a mix of concern and something else that you can’t read. His raised eyebrows tell you that he wants you to talk, to tell him what’s on your mind.
Should you? But, where do you even start? With his attitude tonight, or with your friend’s comments? Or with this whole casual thing, which is basically the beginning to it all.
Your lips pout on its own, resting your hands around his wrist. “That was uncalled for,” you murmur, looking down at his bracelet again.
“What was?” Drew’s pinch one your waist is more soft this time, wanting to get the words out of you.
“Doing that,” you say, playing with his chained bracelet. Shit. You’re gonna say it. You’re gonna call him out for his behavior. “Being rude to my friends.”
A scoff escapes Drew. He then brings his hand up to your face, forcing you to look up at him. Like second nature, you lean your face into the palm of his hand, waiting for him to explain himself. “Babe, your friends were the rude ones.”
The feeling inside your stomach is indescribable. The nickname sends you butterflies, but the words that follow don't.
“How?” You ask, crossing your arms.
He licks his lips, squinting his eyes at you. “It was so fucking obvious.”
“Was it?”
“Yes- yes, it was,” Drew straightens his posture, taking his hands off you. The warmth of him is gone, now with the presence of a man trying to explain his reasonable case of being bratty. “They asked loaded questions to me this whole night.”
You furrow your eyebrows, thinking hard to the stuff they asked Drew. Shit. They were. Your friends didn’t even trying to hide their discontent with him tonight.
“They hate me,” he adds on, “C’mon, I leave the table for like, a few minutes, and they talked shit, right?”
The way he looks at you; he challenges you to disagree with him. But you couldn’t; he was right. Your friends hate him, making you constantly doubt whatever this was with Drew.
“Wasn’t all shit,” you lie, sending him the smallest smile ever.
Drew makes the ‘tsk’ sound, shaking his head as he gives you a tired smile. “What they say then?” He asks, leaning back against the sink again.
His eyes look at you in anticipation, biting down on his lips.
You do not want to tell him what they said. It was rude, and although it was about Drew, it affected you more than it should have. The seeds of doubt are always planted by your friends, they never put you at ease with this relationship.
You give him a lazy smile, snaking your arms around his neck. You lean in close to him, a seductive look in your eyes. “Does it matter? They talk shit, all they ever do.”
Drew’s lips slightly part, and he glances quickly down at your lips. A smile appears, “I see what you’re doing. You’re distracting me.”
You shrug lightly, before planting a small kiss on his jaw. “Is it working?”
You hear a chuckle escape from him, and his hand wraps around the back of your head. His eyes keep bouncing between your lips and eyes, smiling from ear-to-ear, “annoyingly so, you minx.”
Without another comment, Drew kisses you, soft and slow.
You return the kiss, escalating into a whole make-out session.
You hate how your body reacts to him; feeling a pool of wetness form between your legs. Fuck.
Something pokes against your lower stomach, and you pull away from Drew. You glance down; he’s erected. “Shit,” you curse, as his hands slide down your body. He squeezes your ass, burying his face into your neck as he breathes the skin there.
“I…I can’t go back to the table like this,” he murmurs, referring to his erection.
You watch as his back rises and falls, through the sink mirror. Even with this thick white jacket he has on, you can tell his breathing has sped up. Your lips form a straight line, running your hands through his short hair.
In the bathroom? Right in the middle of dinner? It was highly inappropriate.
Wrapping your hands around his face, you pull him up to meet his eyes. He looks at you pleadingly, lips parted with drool on the corner of his lips.
Fuck. How is one suppose to say no to that look? He looked as if he physically needed you; needed you to calm the… ‘growing’ in his pants.
“Ten minutes,” you tell him, which immediately lights the spark in his eyes. He looks like a puppy! You smile at that thought, as he straightens himself, switching your positions.
“Ten minutes? Enough for two rounds,” he teases, lifting you to sit on the sink.
“No! One round,” you say, which gets cut off by Drew kissing you again. As much fun as two rounds sound, the longer you linger in here, the more obvious it is that the two of you are fucking.
He groans into your mouth, spreading your legs to stand between them. His hands move fast into your dress, slipping your underwear off. The cold surface of the sink hits your thighs and pussy, adding to the heat growing within you.
Drew trails his kisses down your neck, as your hands work on undoing his belt.
You moan when he sucks on the sweet-spot around your neck, the belt dropping onto the floor with a hard thud. “Drew…” you moan out, messy hands tugging his hair as he continues to form hickeys around your neck.
You want to run your hands around his stomach, chest, abs. But the jacket he has on prevents that, being zipped up the whole way. This jacket looked great on him, but would look better on the floor.
Your hands fidget with the zipper, tugging with no luck of it moving.
Drew pulls away from your neck, a chuckle escaping, “babe, gently.”
His hands overlaps yours, guiding you to pull the jacket zipper down. It reveals that he isn’t wearing anything inside; a feast to your eyes. “Is that why you refused to take this off?” You ask, referring to before the dinner started.
“I was invited last minute,” he shrugs the jacket off, as if it wasn’t his fault for the improvised outfit.
“Right, but you weren’t invited,” you remind him, when he insisted on joining you when you were leaving, throwing on a random outfit nearby. You were busy putting your heels on, so you couldn’t see the moment when he got dressed. You didn’t even know he owned a jacket like this.
“Mmhm,” his mind was elsewhere, attaching his lips to yours again. Sloppy and more lustful this time, as your hands wander around his body. It’s hot under your touch; his abs flexing as you run your hands over them.
His hand grips onto your thigh, before moving closer to your heat.
When the warmth of his fingers hit your pussy, you moan loudly into his mouth.
“Shit,” he chuckles, “we’re in public, babe.”
The tip of your ears heat up too, from the embarrassment and realization that you’re in public, most likely having people hear you from the other side of the door. “Sorry,” you murmur, burying your face into his neck.
Drew sticks two fingers into your hole, and starts thrusting at a faster speed than usual. Your breathing becomes uneven, as you try to tone down your moans.
Drew wasn’t having it easy either, as you hear low grunts escaping him. “Fuck,” he curses, adding another digit, “you’re tight tonight.”
“Just fuck me already,” you manage to say, hands gripping on his biceps. Surely, this was enough foreplay, right?
He chuckles again, this time at your impatience. He pulls his fingers out of you, his hands going to the back pocket of his jeans.
The familiar gold packaging comes out, and his hands skillfully rip them open.
“…couldn’t put on a shirt but bought a condom with you?” Laughter escapes you, as you watch him unzip his pants.
He glances up at you, and when he sees you smiling ear-to-ear, he can’t help but match you, “wasn’t gonna show up totally unprepared, right?”
You laugh again; what an unbelievable guy. “Shirt’s optional but condom a must. Got it.”
Drew lets his pants and boxers hang around his knees, his cock standing proud. The sight immediately wipes the smile off your lips, gulping as you imagine it stuffed inside you.
“The chances of fucking you wherever and whenever is high,” Drew says, wrapping the condom around his dick.
He looks up at you, seeing your gaze fixed on his hard cock. A smirk helps themselves to his lips, as his hands tug on your waist. An idea flashes in his mind as he looks over your shoulder, at the big sink mirror.
“Get off,” his voice brings you back, looking at him with confused eyes now. “C’mon, trust me.”
You let him bring you back onto the ground, before flipping you over. You see both your reflections in the mirror, your back hitting his chest, his dick poking your upper ass.
When you meet his eyes through the mirror, you understand where this was going.
“Watch yourself while I destroy your fucking pussy, hmm?”
Oh. Oh. Was it possible to be turned on by words?
Drew lifts up your dress, revealing your wet core. You hold onto the sink for support, grip getting tighter when you feel Drew’s tip against your entrance.
Then, he slips in, going deep until it’s completely nestled inside you.
“Fuck,” you moan, glancing up at Drew. He sends you a smirk, enjoying this too. His hand goes to your stomach, and he lifts you backward, resting against his chest again.
“Grip my hair, and keep your eyes open, alright?” His voice drops low, one hand moving to knead your breasts.
You nod, bringing your hands behind you; one tugging gently around his hair, another around his arm that’s supporting you.
He starts to thrust into you, rather roughly and fast. “Shit,” you moan, the sensation sending you to outer space. With his thick cock slamming into you, his hands roaming your body, your hands running through his short hair, it feels euphoric.
Your eyes can barely stay open, as you look at the reflection in the mirror. Drew leaves a trail of sloppy kisses along your shoulder, which sends goosebumps to your skin.
You watch as one of his hand slips between your thighs, starting to massage your pussy. “Fuck,” you moan, louder than you should be. You couldn’t help it, the pleasure was extraordinary.
He kisses your earlobe, “i’know baby, but keep it down, alright?”
“Y-yeah,” it barely comes out, as the thrusts and massages to your core intensifies. The familiar knot in your stomach forms, informing you that you’re close. “Drew…”
His pace doesn’t stop, and when you lean your head back on his shoulder, he goes harder, “close?”
You nod with any energy left, and Drew uses his free hand to lift your face up again. He kisses your cheek, “use your words.”
You flutter your eyes open, looking at the two of you in the mirror. It was extremely hot, to see Drew filling you up, his hands all around you. The mirror starts to fog up a little, with all the grunting and pressure filling in here.
“I’m coming,” you force out, and meet Drew’s gaze in the mirror. His blue eyes meet yours, seething with lust.
You clench around him, your hand going around Drew’s, which is massaging your pussy. He stops massaging, and he intertwines your hands together. The stickiness doesn’t bother you; why should it?
“Fuck,” he groans, his thrusts to your g-spot growing sloppy.
You tilt your head sideways, and you give him a quick kiss, which sends you over the edge. Your orgasm explodes inside of you, cum dripping out and over Drew’s cock.
Body giving up, you lean completely against Drew, as he helps himself to his. His cock twitches, and you feel the familiar hot liquid filling up.
Both of you are breathing heavily, euphoria radiating off your bodies. Fuck. This might just be one of the best fucks you’ve had with Drew. But in a public restroom? Who would’ve thought.
“You’re so hot,” he compliments, before planting a small kiss on the side of your face.
You giggle at that stupid comment, looking at him through the mirror; He’s got a playful smile on his lips, looking at you with smitten eyes. “You’re great with your words.”
He chuckles, his hands tapping against the side of your waist, signaling you to move. You use the energy left inside of you, helping him slip out. Leaning against the sink, you watch as Drew grabs tissues to wipe your core, then throwing his condom away.
After that, he grabs your underwear on the floor. You get yourself dressed, him doing the same thing.
“Look, only…only seven minutes passed,” Drew comments with a sly smile on his lips, showing you his watch.
You roll your eyes, your lips betraying you by forming a smile. “Cocky much?”
He puts his jacket back on, the last piece of clothing. “Well, you've definitely enjoyed the taste of it.”
You hit his chest playfully, his remark sending butterflies to your stomach. He laughs, zipping his jacket only halfway. Your eyebrows furrow at his exposed chest that pierces through the top; and you reach for the zipper.
Drew stays in place, and you feel his gaze on the top of your head, his hot breath hitting you. You ignore the tension that pulls; when you’re done, you pat his chest, “all done, buddy.”
“‘Buddy’?” There’s a hint of amusement in his tone, eyes squinting down at you.
You send him a soft smile, seeing him glance down at your lips. “What?”
“Call me buddy one more time,” his hands wrap around your waist, and he leans closer to you, “and you’ll get it.”
His dirty and challenging tone sends shivers down your spine, something you find yourself liking a bit too much. The pit of your stomach yells at you at how hypocritical Drew was being right now, but you ignore it.
And just because it’s fun, you lean into his ear, and whisper, “best buddy ever.”
Tickles are sent to the side of your body, making you jump and melt into his arms. You laugh uncontrollably; Drew knew you were ticklish, using it to his full advantage.
“Stop! Stop!” You yell between laughter, your legs ready to give up.
“Don’t call me that then,” he stops tickling you, grip on you tight to make sure you don’t fall. He kisses the tears of laughter from the corner of your eyes, “I don’t like it.”
“Noted,” you murmur, wrapping your arms around his neck. You glance down at his lips, and he does the same to yours.
Drew gives you the look; he wants to kiss you.
And you let him, closing your eyes and feeling his lips against yours.
Is it still casual if you kissed me like it’s the last time you ever will? You hate how this thought appears in your mind again, haunting you.
You pull away, the pressure of it getting overwhelming. “Let’s head back, yeah?”
“We have to?” His eyes stay glued to your lips. “You know, We could…we could just leave.”
You furrow your eyebrows at him, “no!”
“Say you got plans tomorrow morning,” he shrugs, “I’ll say it for you, if you can’t-”
You cross your arms, looking up at him. “Why would I leave early?”
Drew parts his lips, and he brings his hand up to your elbow. He rubs the area there in soft circles, a playful look in his eyes, “…grab some froyo?”
You drop your arms, looking at him disappointedly. When he saw that, he hurriedly adds, “and I got errands to run. Really.”
You contemplate in your mind about this; ditching this dinner to hang out privately with Drew? Yeah, that sounded like something fun. It must be better than staying awkwardly, having your friends judge Drew.
Casual. Casual, casual, casual. Some casual froyo with Drew, and maybe ending up with sex in his dorm room.
Yeah. Seemed like things people whose ‘casual’ would do.
“Fine. You’re treating me though,” you unlock the door, walking out the bathroom.
“I always treat you,” you hear him murmur behind you, following closely behind as you two walk back to the table.
You interrupt the conversation they’re having, grabbing your purse from your seat. They look at your questionably, before their gaze lands sourly on Drew behind you. “i’ve got something, tomorrow morning, so we’re heading off,” you try sounding apologetic, “sorry to leave this early.”
“Oh, um, okay,” Lucy glances between the two of you, “text us when you get home.”
“Yeah, sorry,” you apologize again, before your friends wave goodbye to you. You don’t miss the hateful looks they leave on Drew, as they tell you to take care until the next time you guys meet.
After that, you and Drew leave the restaurant, letting the doorman do his job of getting a taxi.
A warmth around your hand catches you by surprise; Drew holds your hand, pulling you closer to him. You look down at the holding of hands; then back up at him. He’s staring down at his phone, scrolling through his insta feed.
Holding hands. Something very casual to do, apparently.
“What are you watching?” You ask, leaning on his shoulder.
He laughs, showing you the screen. It’s a video of a monkey pointing towards the glass, which has different play-doughs lined along it.
You don’t get the humor in it, but you smile, because it makes Drew smile.
The two of you stand there, watching different posts on his phone until the taxi arrives.
Your mind finds it strange how ‘casual’ you two are.
Because, in the bottom of your heart, you weren’t so sure if this was casual anymore. Along the way, the lines of ‘no attachment’ seemed to have blurred. Blurred to the point of no return.

— ENJOY THE SHOW
sophia laforteza x fem!reader
summary: being in theatre's tech crew came with its ups and downs. last minute rehearsals, damaged electronics and gear, oh, and your crush on the star of every show, sophia laforteza.
warnings/tags: fluff, mild language, college!au, one kiss
lowkey feel like this is trash but ANYWAYS 😇 theatre!sophia is here to stay

you have always enjoyed theatre, especially being backstage with the crew rather than being on stage actually acting out the scenes. you were meant to stay behind the curtains, and you didn't mind that. you were good at your duties being the head for tech crew, and you wouldn't do anything to change that.
except for a little problem. sophia laforteza.
the star of every show and musical the school put on. the girl who lit up the entire stage no matter what stage lights were accidentally out. the girl who auditioned for every lead role and got it. the girl who received confessions by the daily and always rejected them.
when you first started in tech crew, you were told about her. that she would probably ignore you as long as you did your job, and you were okay with that.
only, the opposite happened.
sophia did anything but ignore you when she spotted you as the newest addition to the tech crew.
you believed you were crazy at first. thinking she was staring at you from across the stage when the professor informed everyone about the upcoming opening night for their modernized romeo and juliet. thinking that she was looking for you when you were fixing things for rehearsal. thinking that she was just being nice when she randomly talked to you during rehearsal. you were so wrong.
sophia had never really shown any interest in anyone. she knew that, her friends knew that, the school knew that. so imagine everyone's surprise when she won't stop hovering around you during rehearsal even when she should be practicing her lines. when she gets caught staring by her friends in the halls but won't say anything. when she catches herself thinking about you and wondering what you're doing.
one day during rehearsal as you're getting things situated, she walks up to you.
"are you seeing anyone?" she asks out of nowhere.
you freeze, turning your head to look up from the audio mixing equipment with furrowed eyebrows. "i'm sorry?" you let out, your face turning red.
sophia feels a wave of embarrassment at your response, but she's determined to see this through, so with her excellent acting skills, she manages to cover up the look on her face when you gaze at her. "i'm just asking. my friend is interested," she responds as nonchalantly as she can manage.
"oh." your expression drops for a second and sophia instantly regrets what excuse she came up with. "uh, no," you answer, shaking your head and looking back at the equipment.
"then could i get your number?"
you look up again at her question, confusion evident on your face.
"just so i can give it to her, you know," she adds quickly.
"sure," you reply with a nod, trying to ignore how awkward this was. you rip the corner of a page out of your notebook and scribble your phone number down, handing it to sophia. "here."
sophia's eyes light up when she takes the piece of paper, a smile growing on her face. "thanks," she says.
"no problem." you shake your head, going back to what you were doing.
when you received a text later that day, you were surprised to see the message.
unknown
hey, yn! this is sophia :)
what?
and slowly you two started talking. when you weren't in the auditorium rehearsing for the show she was texting you constantly, asking more questions about you. you were a little hesitant at first, but you answered anyway. you told her the things she wanted to know while learning some new things about her as well. but that's all it was. you didn't really see each other outside of theatre, and unfortunately your crush on her was growing the more you saw her despite already seeing her for the last year in theatre.
then she started talking to you more in theatre. she would go to you first to talk to instead of whoever male lead was trying to flirt with her. she would sit next to you when the professor would go over new things and announcements. she would be around you when it was rehearsal and she had nothing to do, watching you do whatever you do in tech. it was odd to you. you didn't know where it came from so suddenly, and it was confusing.
but, you couldn't help and enjoy it just a little bit. even if you didn't believe it would go any further.
your crush on sophia only grew the more she spoke to you, but you were still too scared to do anything. there was no way she would be into you like that. so you didn't do anything.
until opening night happened.
the past few rehearsals before opening night had been stressful. equipment was breaking randomly, the male lead got sick and the understudy had to learn all the lines within a week, and everyone was running to you when there was another problem.
you hadn't been able to talk with sophia recently because every time she started to talk someone would ask you for something or drag you off to fix the lights or audio mixing again. but you could feel her eyes on you even when you weren't looking at her.
now it was finally opening night, and you were scared shitless. despite not being the one actually on stage, you were worried of something going wrong again.
"yn?"
you're shaken out of your thoughts when you hear sophia's voice, making you look up from your papers and at her. your breath catches in your throat at the sight of her when you see her. she looks great, you can't help but think. she always does, but even more so when she's about to go on stage. "yeah?" you finally respond.
"could you help me with my mic?" sophia asks.
blinking, you quickly nod your head and stand up straight. "yeah, yeah, totally."
a smile grows on sophia's face and she hands you the mic pack and wiring, turning back around so you could put it on. your hands are shaking slightly you notice fairly quickly, and you have to keep yourself from showing it too much. you carefully put it on her, your hands shakily trailing to her lower back, fingers grazing against her skin. you don't even notice until you've finished, but your hands don't move. and when you look in the mirror, your breath catches seeing sophia already looking at you.
thinking you've fucked up, you quickly remove your hands from her. "s-sorry, i didn't mean to–"
before you can get another word out, sophia turns around and hooks her arms around your neck, pulling you close to her into a passionate kiss. your eyes go wide, but you're quick to kiss back, your arms wrapping around her waist and pulling her closer.
just as quickly as it started, it ended by the yelling of "we're on in two!", making both of you separate. your cheeks are flushed pink as you look down at sophia who's just smiling at you.
"thanks for the good luck kiss," she says, pecking your cheek and leaving a mark on your reddened face. "i'll see you soon," she adds quietly, unraveling herself from you and hurrying over to the stage.
you stand there, dumbstruck by what just happened. but you can't contain the wide smile on your face when sophia flashes you one last smile before the curtain opens and the show starts. you're sure you probably look like an idiot, but you don't care enough right now. you were one step closer to getting somewhere after the year of being too scared to do anything. and that's all that mattered.

previous chapter ୨୧ series masterlist ୨୧ next chapter

Morning meetings were always the worst.
Your eyes flicked between the PowerPoint presentation on your laptop and the clock in the bottom corner of the screen. 10:17 AM. Barely past mid-morning, and already your inbox was overflowing, a steady stream of tasks waiting to be tackled.
Your manager was droning on about Q2 projections, but you weren’t really listening—your mind was elsewhere.
More specifically, back to Geto’s message.
You had responded, the plans had been loosely set in motion, but ever since then… nothing.
No follow-up text. No details. No confirmation. It wasn’t like you were expecting Geto to flood your notifications—he didn’t seem like the type—but still, there was an odd weight to the silence. Like something unsaid was hanging in the air, waiting.
Your phone, face down on your desk, was an itch you couldn’t scratch. Every so often, between emails and reports, you found yourself flipping it over, just to check.
No new messages. No notifications. Just the same boring reality of your corporate grind.
You sighed, refocusing on your laptop screen.
Work first, overanalyzing later.
୨୧ ୨୧ ୨୧
By the time the workday finally dragged itself to a close, you were exhausted.
The kind of exhaustion that settled behind your eyes, heavy and dull.
You trudged back to your apartment, shedding your coat as soon as you stepped through the door, kicking off your shoes like they were the final obstacle standing between you and sweet relief.
Your phone buzzed as you collapsed onto the couch. For a fleeting second, your stomach twisted in anticipation—only for it to immediately unravel when you saw the name on the screen.
Gojo.
You exhaled through your nose, a half-smile tugging at your lips as you answered.
“What, do y’have a sixth sense for when I get home?”
“Obviously,” Gojo said, his voice light with amusement. “I told you, I’m always watching.”
“Gross.”
“You’re gross.”
This was routine by now—Gojo calling you at random times throughout the week, sometimes to tell you about his day, sometimes just to be annoying. You never really minded.
“So,” he drawled, “how’s the thrilling life of a corporate drone? Please, tell me in excruciating detail about your latest battle with Excel.”
“Oh, you know, just living the dream,” you said, stretching your legs out. “Emails. Meetings. Staring at spreadsheets until my vision blurs.”
“Riveting.”
“You know it.”
He chuckled. “Well, you got a busy week ahead, or what?”
The question was casual, barely even a thought, but before you could think better of it, you answered honestly.
“Not really. Just work. Oh, uh—actually, I’m meeting up with Geto sometime this week.”
Silence.
“…Gojo?”
A sharp inhale on the other end. Then, suddenly—
“This guy’s working in the shadows.”
You blinked. “Huh?”
“Oh my god.” His tone was deadly serious, but you could practically hear the grin behind it. “I had no idea…He’s been playing the long game. Years of silence, and now—bam. He’s got you exactly where he wants you.”
“Oh, shut up.”
“I knew it. I knew he was too smooth, too strategic—”
“Gojo, stop.”
“—waiting, biding his time, and then when I least expect it, he makes his move.”
You pinched the bridge of your nose. “This is why I don’t tell you things. There are no moves being made.”
Gojo laughed, full and delighted, like this was the funniest thing to happen all week. You could imagine him now—probably stretched out on his couch—taking up too much space, grinning like an idiot.
“In all seriousness, though,” he said, still sounding far too amused, “what’s up with that? Since when do you and Geto make plans?”
You hesitated, your fingers tightening around your phone. “I don’t know. He just texted me out of nowhere. Said he was 'working in my area now' and wanted to catch up.”
A pause. Barely a second, but you caught it.
Then—Gojo sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth. “Oof. Wow.”
You frowned. “What?”
“Nah, nothing. It’s just—you ever watch a nature documentary?”
You blinked. “Huh?”
“You know, like, those ones where the predator stalks its prey for ages before it finally pounces?”
“…Gojo.”
He let out a long, dramatic sigh. “It’s just crazy. I always thought Geto was a patient guy, but this? This is another level. He’s been lurking in the tall grass for years, and now that the timing is right? Bam. He strikes.”
You groaned. “Oh my god.”
“No, no, I respect it,” he continued, completely ignoring you. “It’s a slow-burn strategy. Like, why rush when you can let the tension marinate, y’know?”
“There’s no tension. Or—ew—marinating. Why are you like this? ”
“Mm.” He made a noncommittal noise. “You sure?”
“Yes, I’m sure.”
“Because I dunno,” he mused, “feels like a little tension. Maybe a tiny bit. A smidge. A sprinkle.”
“Gojo.”
“There was definitely a little spark back in university,” he said, far too casually.
You scoffed. “Huh? No, there wasn’t. We barely even spoke.”
Gojo let out an incredulous laugh. “Were we even in the same room? You two had vibes.”
“You’re such a liar.”
“I’m an eyewitness, actually,” he corrected, as if that made it any better. “And what I ‘eye-witnessed’ was undeniable tension.”
“You 'eye-witnessed' nothing.” You pinched the bridge of your nose. “This is why I don’t tell you things.”
“I think it’s great, honestly,” he continued, undeterred.
“You guys should totally bond. Maybe do one of those, I dunno, deep and meaningful heart-to-hearts. Oh! Maybe a romantic little dinner. Candlelight. Soft music. He reaches across the table to hold your hand—”
“I’m hanging up now.”
“No, wait! Wait, what are you wearing?”
You froze. “What the fuck?”
“For the meetup, duh.” He sounded way too amused. “Gotta dress for the occasion.”
You groaned so loudly it was nearly a scream, and Gojo lost it, laughing so hard you heard something clatter in the background.
“God, you make this too easy,” he wheezed.
“You’re the worst.”
You were going to regret telling him about this forever.
Before you could dwell on it too much, Gojo spoke again. “Well, I, for one, fully support this development. As long as you keep me updated.”
You snorted. “Yeah, because that’ll happen.”
“Hey! I have a right to know if my best friend is being seduced by my other best friend.”
“No one is being seduced—god are you even capable of shutting your mouth?”
“Just saying,” he said lightly, and you could practically hear the smirk in his voice. “If you show up to our next reunion looking all starry-eyed, I’ll know exactly who to blame.”
You scoffed. “And if I don’t?”
“Then I’ll know Suguru’s lost his touch.”
You groaned, pushing your face into a pillow as Gojo laughed through the speaker. He was ridiculous.
You ended the call with an exasperated sigh, tossing your phone onto the other side of the couch like it had personally wronged you.
Silence settled over your apartment, but your mind was anything but quiet.
Gojo was just messing with you—he always did. But still, his words lingered, replaying in your head like a song you couldn’t shake.
“Feels like a little tension”—“There was definitely a little spark back in university”
Ridiculous.
There was no tension. Not back then. Not now.
…Right?
You scoffed aloud, as if that would somehow erase the warmth you felt spread across your cheeks.
Good thing Gojo hadn’t FaceTimed you—he’d never let you live it down.
The man had a sixth sense for embarrassment, and your flushed face would’ve been prime ammunition.
୨୧ ୨୧ ୨୧
*2 Years Prior: Campus Library — 11:46pm*
The study room was too small for the three of you—Gojo made sure of that. He sprawled in his chair, long limbs kicked out beneath the table, tapping a pencil against his textbook like he was drumming a countdown to his own inevitable failure.
The midterm was tomorrow, and judging by his groaning, he had barely started reviewing.
"I don't get why we even need to know this crap," Gojo whined, head rolling back against the chair. "I could fail this test and still be smarter than half the students here."
Across from him, Geto turned a page in his notebook, pen gliding smoothly over his notes. "Then fail," he murmured, voice steady, unbothered. "See how that works out for you."
Gojo huffed, but Geto wasn’t paying much attention to him anymore.
His gaze had flickered across the table a few times now, to you.
Your elbow rested against the desk, cheek propped in your palm, eyes flicking between your notes and the thick textbook at your side. The tip of your pen hovered between your lips, an unconscious habit that surfaced whenever you were deep in thought. A line appeared between your brows—concentration. Frustration.
Geto let his pen roll between his fingers, movements slow, measured.
The numbers on your page hadn’t changed in minutes. His eyes traced the faint tap of your index finger repeatedly tapped your cheek, the subtle way your grip on the pen tightened and loosened, like your thoughts were trying to work themselves out through movement.
He tapped his own pen lightly against the table near your textbook, breaking your trance. "You’re stuck on that problem."
Your head lifted, blinking. "Huh?"
The side of his mouth curled, almost imperceptibly. "You’ve been staring at the same equation for five minutes."
A quiet pause. Then you huffed, setting your pen down and leaning back slightly in your chair. "It's impossible. I’ve tried solving it three different ways, and none of them work."
Geto exhaled, shifting his chair closer. The scrape of wood against tile was barely noticeable beneath Gojo's continued dramatics. "Here. Let me see."
His arm brushed against yours—barely, just enough for him to notice the warmth of your skin through your sleeve. You smelled like warm vanilla and old books, a mix of whatever candle you always burned in your dorm and the ever-present scent of study sessions in the library.
After a moment, your brows lifted, expectant, seemingly waiting for an explanation.
His gaze flickered to your lips, still caught between your teeth, before dropping to the numbers scrawled across the paper. With a smooth movement, he picked up your pen, turning it between his fingers once before tapping against the right equation.
“Here,” he murmured, the weight of his voice settling between you. “You skipped a step.”
Your breath hitched—so faint he almost missed it. Almost.
He kept his voice level as he pointed to the equation. "Your mistake is here. You're missing a step between these two lines."
You sighed, running a hand through your hair. "Seriously? Ugh, that’s so stupid. I should’ve caught that."
"You're tired." He said it plainly, matter-of-fact. "That’s all."
Another pause. You tilted your head slightly, watching him – Like you wanted to say something.
Then Gojo launched a crumpled paper ball at Geto’s head.
"Hey! If you two are done whispering sweet nothings over math problems, can someone help me before I actually fail this test?"
Gojo’s paper ball bounced off Geto’s head and landed on the desk with an unceremonious plop.
Geto barely reacted, only sighing through his nose like he’d already resigned himself to Gojo’s antics long before this moment. He passed you the highlighter you had been reaching for, his fingers grazing yours—just barely, just long enough that it wasn’t entirely accidental.
You hesitated, lips parting slightly, but whatever thought had been forming was cut short when Gojo's loud voice interrupted you.
"*Phew,* Finally! I was starting to think you two were gonna start privatizing your study notes.”
You rolled your eyes, shifting in your seat. “Have you ever made your own notes? Ever? Once?”
Gojo scoffed, leaning back in his chair. “Don’t need to. You are both so lovely I don't need them.”
Shaking your head, you refocused on your notes, tapping your pencil against the paper before absently bringing it between your lips again. It was muscle memory at this point—something you did when you were getting deep in thought, when you were stuck.
Geto noticed immediately.
His gaze flickered down, almost involuntarily, catching on the slight indentation the pencil made against your lower lip.
For just a second, his fingers stilled where they had been idly rolling his pen, the movement betraying the momentary shift in his focus.
He looked away, back at his own notes—but too late. You had caught the lapse, the flicker of hesitation, and the way his fingers flexed slightly against the spiral binding of his notebook before resuming their casual twirl.
But it appeared as if you hadn’t realized the reason behind his hesitation.
Geto cleared his throat, voice still effortlessly smooth but quieter now. “Fine. Let’s make sure you don’t completely bomb this.”
Gojo immediately perked up. “Thank god. I was losing hope, honestly.”
Neither of you responded.
Geto twirled his pen between his fingers again—slow, thoughtful. His eyes drifted back to you, studying, considering. Then—his voice, quiet yet deliberate—
“You do that a lot y'know”
Your brows knitted slightly. “Do what?”
“The pencil,” he said, tilting his chin toward you. “You chew on it when you’re focused.”
You blinked, seeming caught off guard.
Gojo snorted. “Wow, Suguru. Riveting observation.”
But Geto wasn’t paying attention to him. His eyes didn’t even flinch—He was still watching you, something unreadable flickering behind his dark eyes, like he was committing the detail to memory.
“Didn’t realize you paid that much attention,” you muttered, sounding unaffected by his gaze.
“Yeah?” His lips curved, the ghost of a smirk. “Guess I just notice things.”
୨୧ ୨୧ ୨୧
Back in the present, you exhaled sharply, shaking off Gojo’s previous teasing as you always did after your phone calls.
Your phone sat beside you, its dark screen reflecting your face—lips pressed together, brows drawn, eyes still distant, lingering somewhere between then and now.
You scoffed under your breath. A little spark? Yeah, okay.
If Gojo had been trying to get under your skin, he’d succeeded. But not in the way he probably thought.
You thought about it some more—what he had said on the phone—there had been no spark—not the way he meant, anyway.
It was just... familiarity. That quiet, unspoken understanding that came with years of late-night study sessions, shared snacks from vending machines, and the kind of silence that never felt uncomfortable. Geto’s attentiveness and willingness to help was just who he is, it did not mean anything more than that.
If there had ever been anything more, wouldn’t you have noticed?
Your gaze dropped to the phone resting in your lap, thumb grazing the edge of the screen before you realized you had already picked it up. With a quiet sigh, you leaned back against the couch, unlocking it without a second thought.
The message thread with Geto blinked up at you.
His last message was still there. Still waiting. Still unanswered.
"Geto: I know a place. I’ll send you the details later this week."
Your fingers hovered over the keyboard, hesitating for only a second.
Then, finally—
You: So, when’s this catch-up happening?
The message sent before you could overthink it.
With a yawn, you pushed yourself off the couch, stretching your arms overhead before trudging toward your bedroom. The day had been long, and the weight of it was finally settling over you, making your limbs heavy.
Flicking off the light, you slid under the covers, the warmth of your blankets pulling you in almost instantly. You sank into the mattress, letting out a slow breath as your eyes fluttered shut.
Sleep came quickly, tugging at the edges of your consciousness.
Then—just as you were about to slip under completely…
Your phone buzzed against the nightstand.
Your eyes cracked open, pulse skipping despite yourself.
For a moment, you didn’t move. Didn’t reach for it.
But eventually, you did.

father figure - a. hotchner
criminal minds masterlist ||
Summary: hotch meets a mysterious woman on a solo night out, and realizes that they both have daddy issues.
Pairing: aaron hotchner x fem!reader
Word Count: 1.2k
Warnings: mentions of daddy issues, age gap, kinda suggestive, allusions to sex and one night stands
Please also note that all of my works are protected under copyright, and not available for reposting on other platforms.
Hotch couldn’t tell you the last time he’d been in a bar all by himself—he just couldn’t. When Haley was still alive, the operative word being alive, they would have the occasional and very rare date night to go to a bar together, sure. And he did try to participate in the team outings as much as possible as a single father. But the last time he was in a bar, alone? Now that seemed like a lifetime away.
But some things never change, he supposes. The whiskey still burns down his throat after each sip, something so comforting in a way he couldn’t quite explain. There’s still some football match playing on a TV somewhere in the bar—as he could hear the announcer and the occasional outburst of cheers or groans from the booths behind him. The lighting is still dim, low enough to make people feel like their mistakes might not follow them home. And the music—an old Springsteen song bleeding faintly from the speakers—still manages to make everything feel just a little more cinematic than it really is.
He likes that. The illusion of meaning.
Aaron Hotchner isn't the kind of man who does things spontaneously. Everything in his life—every choice, every movement—is measured. Precise. But tonight, he finds himself wanting not to think. He doesn't want to calculate or lead or fix. He just wants to be.
That’s when he notices you.
You’re seated two stools down, legs crossed, fingers lazily circling the rim of your glass. You look like you belong there—like the bar is an old friend, not a crutch. There’s something magnetic about you: the way your lipstick’s slightly smudged, the way you watch the world with a kind of detached curiosity, like you’ve already heard every story and none of them have surprised you in a very long time.
You feel his eyes on you before you see him. “Careful,” you say, still looking straight ahead. “Staring too long might make me think you’re interested.”
Hotch smiles behind his glass. “Would that be a problem?”
You finally turn to look at him. He’s handsome—sharp suit, tense shoulders, tired eyes that look like they’ve seen too much. You can tell immediately that he didn’t come here looking for trouble. Which makes you want to be it more than anything. “Depends,” you say, cocking your head slightly. “Are you the type to make polite conversation, or the type to make confessions?”
He considers your question like it’s a riddle. Like you’re a case file. Then he adds, “Depends on which you’d prefer.”
You smirk. “Confessions, then. Polite conversation is for people who plan on remembering this in the morning.”
His brows lift—just barely. Enough to give him away. “So you’re not planning on remembering?”
“Oh, I’ll remember,” you say, taking a sip of your drink. “But I’m not expecting anything more than the night.”
There’s a flicker in his eyes. Interest? Intrigue? Maybe even relief. He shifts in his seat slightly, closer. “Alright then,” he murmurs. “A confession.” You raise a brow, nodding for him to go on. “I haven’t done this in a long time,” he says. “I don’t even know why I came here.”
You lean in, whispering conspiratorially loud enough for him to hear. “That wasn’t much of a confession.”
He glances at your lips, then your eyes. “Fine,” he says. “I came here because I didn’t want to go home. And because sometimes, drinking alone in a crowded room feels less lonely than being in your own house.”
That shuts you up for a second. “Okay. Now that’s a confession.” You nod slowly. Then, think about his answer for a bit, and giggle while adding, “A bit poetic too, are you a poet?”
“No, definitely not.” He laughs softly. You tip your glass in a silent toast, and he mirrors the gesture. “You?” he asks. “Your turn.”
You shrug, swirling what’s left of your drink. “I have a habit of liking older men. Usually ones with tragic backstories and sharp jawlines.”
He chuckles—quiet, low in his chest. “That sounds specific.”
“Huh,” you hum, taking a generous sip from your drink, “is it?” You roll your eyes subtly to the unamused look he attempts to give you.
His mouth twitches again, like he’s fighting back a smile. “Do you say that to all the older men in bars?”
You feign offense, hand over your heart. “Only the ones who look like they haven’t smiled in a decade.”
He exhales a curt laugh, and for the first time tonight, it reaches his eyes. “And what does that say about me?”
You lean in slightly, resting your elbow on the bar. “It says you’re overdue.” There's a silence for a brief moment, and your eyes curiously watch over him as he takes a few steps closer to you and place himself onto a nearby stool. “Your turn again,” you murmur as you push your glass towards the bartender for a refill, not breaking eye contact.
Hotch considers you carefully, like he’s weighing whether it’s worth crossing a line. Then, with a voice quieter than before, he says, “I think... if I were twenty years younger, I’d ask for your number.”
You smile. “You think age is the problem here?”
He doesn't answer right away. Just watches you, eyes dark with something unspoken. “I think you’re dangerous.”
That makes you grin—genuine, mischievous. “Funny. I was going to say the same about you.” Then you gesture to his suit, “You’re either an accountant or a spy, and I don’t peg you for someone who has much interest in numbers.”
He watches you for a beat, something sharper slipping into his gaze. His voice drops lower—barely a murmur between you. “How’s your relationship with your father?”
You blink, startled by the shift. “Not particularly great, why?”
A slow smirk tugs at the corner of his mouth. “We’re going to get along great.”
You nearly choke on your drink, laughter bubbling out of you. “Jesus,” you whisper, setting the glass down as you catch his eye. “That was a bit on the nose, don’t you think?”
He shrugs, unbothered, eyes still pinned to yours. “You said confessions, remember?”
You lean closer, fingers ghosting over the rim of your glass again—only now you’re not fidgeting. You’re daring. “Alright then, confession number two: I’ve never wanted to kiss a man as badly as I do right now.”
Hotch doesn’t move for a second. Then he shifts on his stool, knees brushing yours beneath the bar. “That so?”
“Mmhm.” You tilt your head. “But you strike me as someone who doesn’t do casual.”
“Normally, I don’t. But tonight, I think I’ll make an exception.” There’s a beat, a shared breath, and then he’s reaching out, fingers brushing the underside of your jaw, guiding you to him like he’s done it a thousand times before.
The kiss is slow, precise, controlled at first. But it doesn’t stay that way. Your hand fists in the front of his suit jacket, dragging him closer until it’s mouths and heat and the steady thrum of restraint slipping between your teeth. When you part, breathless, you stare at him like you’re not sure whether to laugh or drag him into the nearest dark corner.
“You wanna get out of here?” he asks, voice low.
You glance at the untouched rest of your drink, then back at him. “Thought you’d never ask.”

Could you maybe write where y/n and Arthur (tv) go on the fellas podcast together and chip and cal are asking them a bunch of awkward and kinda inappropriate questions and they both get all blushy and embarrassed
masterlist | main masterlist
contains: suggestive content, established relationship
arthur frederick x fem!reader
it starts off fine.
really, it does. you and arthur show up early, mugs of tea in hand, both of you laughing as cal and chip greet you like old friends. the studio’s warm, the cameras are rolling, and the intro’s smooth-standard fellas chaos.
but then.
then cal leans forward with a grin so mischievous it should probably be criminal. “right. time to get into it. you two-how long until you shagged?”
arthur chokes on his tea.
you blink. “what?”
“first date? second?” chip adds innocently. “or was it one of those- ‘we’re just friends, oops my clothes fell off’ kinda vibes?”
arthur’s face turns scarlet instantly. “mate-”
“you don’t have to answer that!” you laugh, pulling your sleeve over your face. “but like. no comment.”
“ohhh that means it was quick,” cal teases.
arthur groans, dragging a hand down his face. “i hate it here.”
but the chaos is only just beginning.
chip points directly at you. “what’s the most awkward thing that’s happened during sex?”
arthur practically chokes. “jesus-”
“straight in!” chip cackles.
you slap a hand over your mouth. “can we not start with that?”
“nope,” cal says cheerfully, completely unfazed. “we’re in it now.”
arthur glances sideways at you, then at the boys. “i mean-I don’t think we’re awkward, really.”
“cap,” chip says immediately.
you roll your eyes. “okay, one time, we were in the middle of it, and he knocked over a lamp trying to take his sock off-”
“you knocked it over!” arthur protests, already bright red.
“it was your sock!”
“it was a joint effort,” he mutters, covering his face with both hands.
“was it still sexy after the crash?” cal grins.
“it was,” arthur says dramatically, “until she started laughing.”
you shrug. “to be fair, it was a dramatic fall.”
chip is losing it.
cal’s already reaching for the next card. “okay, okay. who’s the more dominant one in bed?”
dead silence.
arthur stares straight ahead like he’s buffering. you raise a brow at him, biting your lip to hold in a smile.
“it’s not a trap,” you say sweetly. “you can say it.”
“look,” arthur says cautiously, “i feel like it’s more of a team dynamic.”
“sure,” chip says. “but if one of you says ‘sit,’ who’s sitting?”
arthur exhales, long and hard. “i plead the fifth.”
“that’s not how british law works, mate,” cal replies, smirking.
“fine,” you say casually, “he’s got a bit of a praise kink. loves being told he’s doing good.”
arthur groans directly into the mic. “this is abuse.”
“you do!” you insist, grinning. “you go all melty and sweet every time i call you my good boy.”
chip’s slapping the table now, howling with laughter.
“listen-” arthur says, voice nearly cracking, “-it’s not my fault she knows how to get what she wants.”
cal points between the two of you. “so you’re the flustered one?”
“only when she’s being evil,” he mutters, glaring over at you. “which is always.”
you just smile innocently. “he’s cute when he’s obedient.”
arthur’s eyes flick to yours, and that’s it. he’s gone. absolutely ruined. silent, flushed, and completely whipped.
“okay, one last question for this segment,” chip manages, wiping tears from his eyes. “what’s your biggest ick about each other?”
arthur doesn’t even hesitate. “she has a folder of screenshots of me mid-blink, mid-chew, mid-existence. all my worst angles. for fun.”
you’re already giggling. “it’s art. i’m curating a collection.”
chip leans in. “and what’s the goal here?”
“to humble him,” you reply. “also, they’re hilarious. there’s one where he looks like an angry victorian ghost.”
arthur sighs dramatically. “it’s character assassination.”
“it’s love,” you say sweetly.
cal turns toward you. “alright, your turn. what’s his ick?”
you pause for a second, pretending to think. “when he gets dramatic about tiny injuries. like, he stubs his toe and suddenly it’s like a wwl reenactment.”
arthur gasps. “it hurts! you don’t understand what i go through!”
“you whined for three hours over a paper cut,” you deadpan.
“it was deep!”
chip is halfway out of his seat laughing.
“alright, alright,” cal says, “that’s enough icks before they break up mid-episode.”
arthur leans over and presses a quick kiss to your cheek, shaking his head with a smile. “nah. stuck with me.”
you smirk. “unfortunately.”

the calm after the storm.

PAIRING... jungwon x reader? | GENRE... idol! au, romance, angst | WC... 1k

he plops onto the couch with a sigh, feeling the exhaustion settle into his bones. one show after another, checked off the tour set list. sometimes, jungwon wonders how much more he has in him.
the staff allows all of the boys free time to explore afterwards, as always. jungwon takes his time getting ready in the hotel room. he didn’t have much to do, a simple baseball cap would suffice for going out at night.
he pats the remaining of his skincare in. it’s too quiet in the spacious double king room. he wonders where ni-ki, his assigned roommate for this leg of the tour, is. probably visiting the other nembers.
then, jungwon warily eyes his phone sitting on the bathroom counter next to him. he shouldn’t—he knows he needs to stop. more for his own sake, anyway.
but after every single concert, strangely enough, his thoughts always circle back to you.
his plans are interrupted—he quickly shuts the balcony door and hits the dial button.
while jungwon nervously waits for an answer, the familiar tune filling his ears, he observes the sight in front of him. the beautiful nightlife in the city, unfamiliar lights and sounds filling the silence. it was the kind of view that should’ve taken his breath away.
but all he can think of, all he can feel, is your absence. that lonely ache in his heart.
he isn’t sure how many rings pass until the screen lights up with your face. your face looks confused, yet it softens when jungwon finally acknowledges you.
he takes all of it in—you sitting on your couch, wearing a hoodie that’s too large for you. jungwon almost winces.
your hair is slightly tousled and makeup already off, he guesses it’s been a long day. even so, you were so beautiful that his breath hitches.
ah, and he forgot about the time difference. lucky him for catching you at the right time.
you smile hesitantly when you call out his name. he realizes how much he missed the sound.
“jungwon,” you state pleasantly albeit surprised, “is there a reason you called? i thought you guys just finished-“
“hey,” jungwon suddenly has to clear his throat. he’s caught off guard by how much he has to control his feelings. he shifts his weight between his feet, clutching his phone a little tighter over the precarious railing.
“sorry, for uh, disturbing you right now. i don’t know if you’re busy or what but, i just… i felt like calling.”
your head tilts, curiosity in your eyes as your smile still holds a silent question. but you don’t push, as always. your patience was probably one of the things he admired most about you.
“where are you guys right now? made it back to the hotel?”
jungwon nods, bangs falling slightly into his eyes as he feels the satisfaction fill him, just by seeing you and hearing your voice after so long.
“yeah, we made it back.”
“then…you guys must be exhausted. you should-”
“no no, i’m alright. it’s worth it.”
“oh, okay.” your lips press into a thin line. jungwon’s not sure if it’s because you’re unconvinced.
he turns the camera around to show you the view.
“i’m,” he squints at the small screen in the corner, “i’m not sure if you can tell but—it’s really pretty here. but i don’t know, it just feels like something’s missing.”
jungwon turns the camera back to himself, watching you closely. your expression softens as he waits expectantly for an response.
“does it?”
“i don’t know how to explain it… kind of like i’m missing someone. it’s just too empty without…”
jungwon almost adds the you, it just barely refrains from coming out. he has to catch himself. as much as the word burns on the tip of his tongue, he holds himself back.
it just doesn’t feel right without you. it never does, really—he wants to say.
you blink, mouth opening to speak but you don’t say anything at first. he sees the way unreadable emotions flicker across your face, as if you’re deciphering his words and collecting your thoughts.
“jungwon?” your voice comes out just a hair above a whisper.
“i don’t think i-“
the door to the balcony flies open and jungwon jolts up.
it’s ni-ki.
“yo, what are you doing out here alone?”
his gaze falls onto the bright phone screen in his hands. jungwon feels his heart plummet to his stomach.
ni-ki’s eyes squint at the screen before his face morphs into one of bewilderment.
“is that my—“
“ki?” you visibly brighten up, and jungwon has no other choice but to drag his two feet over to his bandmate and share the screen.
“baby!” he greets you back, gaze shifting between jungwon and the screen curiously.
“what were you guys talking about?”
“oh—nothing much,” jungwon says as nonchalantly as he can, “just trying to catch up. i actually called heeseung’s brother earlier.”
he isn’t sure why and how he came up with that lie on the spot.
“oh,” the younger one simply nods, “cool.”
“wait, that reminds me. ki—you told me you were gonna call after the concert ended!” you interject with a playfully disapproving frown. there’s that sparkle in your eyes again, jungwon notices.
wordlessly, he hands his phone to ni-ki. “i didn’t forget! i just got back and wanted to check up on jungwon first. i just didn’t know he beat me to it,” ni-ki jokes.
jungwon forces out an awkward laugh. you smile again, although it doesn’t quite reach your eyes.
“my boyfriend’s bandmate cares about me more than my own boyfriend does,” you pretend to sulk. as ni-ki childishly protests and you fight back, jungwon eventually sighs and smacks ni-ki’s shoulder.
“alright, alright, you two. it all worked out. now you can yap.”
jungwon shoves his phone into the youngest’s hands and pushes him to the door exasperatedly, “you know what—just take my phone and talk inside. i’m tired.”
ni-ki stares at jungwon, about to retort, but he simply holds out a hand to stop him, “leave me out here in peace.”
“huh? what did he say?” your voice cuts through, and jungwon only closes his eyes.
that was his final straw. ni-ki has no other choice but to go in, the sound of your two voices getting quieter and quieter.
jungwon wonders what would’ve happened if he really said what he meant. if he really spoke what he felt. how would it all be different?
he supposes he’ll never know.
and neither will you.

a/n ▸ surprise?! had my spring break + my bday coming up so just wanted to pop in with a little something :>

Dragon Age Day 2024 – Developer Reddit AMA (Q&A session) – compilation post
Introduction: “Happy Dragon Age Day! John Epler and Corinne Busche are here to answer your questions for the next ~2 hours. Looking forward to chatting with everyone. We won't be able to get to all questions, but hoping to get to a good mix!”
I gathered the questions and answers from the AMA together in this post, as the AMA has now concluded. The rest of this post is under a cut due to spoilers and length.
Q: "If you could’ve developed DLC, what — and/or where — would you have wanted to explore? Would it have been a new locale with a complementary, self-contained story or something that adds to the main plot and teases the future?"
Corinne Busche: "On the gameplay side, I had a thought about adding a new class option, which is directly related to the environments and story. I've always wanted to revisit the Bard, and I've long felt in the context of Veilguard the best way to handle player-controlled blood magic would have been to build a unique 'Blood Mage' class for it."
Q: "Can we look forward to more lore-supplementary material, for example World of Thedas vol.3?"
John Epler: "With all of the lore reveals in DATV, another World of Thedas is something we'd absolutely love to do. That said, they're complex beasts and require a lot of work from a lot of people, so I can't really promise anything, but it's something we're interested in, at least."
Q: "1. How exactly did Solas's blood magic manipulation of Rook work? Did he only alter Rook's perception to make them think that Varric was still around, or did the blood magic actively prevent Rook from reacting to Varric in a way that would have given up the ruse to the other characters? 2. What is the state of Southern Thedas after the events of DAV?"
John: "Solas' magic caused Rook to see Varric when he wasn't there. Originally, of course, Solas wanted Varric to keep Rook more off-balance - but the thing about the Fade is that things don't always work the way you expect or want them to. As for the state of Southern Thedas - it's been pretty radically altered. The balance of power has shifted, but even those who rode out the storm of the Gods' blight better than others are still reluctant to start anything as the whole place is in rough shape."
Q: "When looking back on DAV, is there any part you wish that you could have spent more time on?"
John: "For me, it's about the Antaam and their split from the rest of the Qunari. There are elements of that story in both the Crows content and in Taash's personal quest, but in a dream world, having the Ben Hassrath as an additional faction (albeit, one you don't know if you can trust) would've been nice."
Corinne: "And for myself, I certainly share some of the desires the community has. Going deeper on romances, and more choices to import. I love our choices and consequences in the game already and maybe we could've added a few more on the scale of the Minrathous/Treviso choice, that significantly alter the remainder of the game. I think we learned how to make that work within our gameflow and content structure, so I look forward to being able to lean in on these beats more heavily. That said, no artist or creator is ever going to be completely content with their work, and even so when I take a step back and look at the game as a whole, I'm extremely proud of what were able to accomplish."
Q: "Can we get confirmation on what happened to the other Evanuris? Will we get any more lore? Shame we didn't hear a whole lot about them besides essentially being behind the previous Blights."
John: "We haven't been SUPER specific about this, but at best the other Evanuris are a shadow of their former selves, and at worst they're dead. The death of their Archdemons, particularly when they were still trapped in the Fade, caused enough magical feedback that it broke their minds and bodies. A couple may have survived as shells, but they aren't in the same state as Ghilan'nain and Elgar'nan."
Q: "Will we get at least anything post launch that via free updates that further expands some story elements? Will rook continue to be the main protagonist going further??"
Corinne: "We've been continuing to improve upon the game post-launch through various bug fixes, balance updates, and quality-of-life improvements. Notably new character creator options and armors for DA Day and N7 Day, and some cool features like Photo Mode filters. Beyond this focus however, we largely view this story as complete and are not planning for further story content. Whether Rook will return in the future, well it's just too early to say :)"
Q: "The marketing for the game claimed that choices not imported from prior games wouldn't be overridden. However, certain dialogue from characters like Harding seemed to establish certain canon events from previous games that were not locked in. Is the intention that a hard canon is being established from DATV forward?"
John: "Ultimately, there's still no intention for there to be a hard canon going forward. These games have been going on for 15 years, though, and with all of the previous games to remember, as well as developing this one, there are absolutely places where we unintentionally suggested there was a hard canon (the one I've seen specifically is that Isabela is always assumed to have joined Hawke's party). I'd say those are oversights and not part of a deliberate strategy. While there are definitely some smaller decisions we will likely never revisit, I want to keep those other choices alive and relevant in the future, and with the state of Thedas the way it is at the end of DATV, I don't really think there's a way forward that DOESN'T involve bringing some of those bigger choices back to the forefront."
Q: "Was there anything at risk of being cut from the game that you fought tooth and nail to keep in?"
Corinne: "Oh, absolutely. There are always those things in game dev that are at risk due to scope and deadlines. There were 3 big ones that immeadiately come to mind: The Transmog feature, the Lords of Fortune Hall of Valor, and Haunts questline. I'll throw in Photo Mode as well, but that was one that we always knew we'd like to do, and had to dig deep to find the time and resources for it."
Q: "Is it set in stone that we will not be getting DLC?"
Corinne: "Correct, our focus was to tell a complete story with the release of Veilguard. Beyond the quality of life improvements and a couple new armor sets we're doing to support the game, we won't have any new story or gameplay content coming to the game."
Q: "Are there any plans to try and increase character saves on console to more than 3?"
Corinne: "This is something we've investigated, but because this touches our save file architecture there are no plans at this time to increase the limit."
Q: "Are you planning to make another Dragon Age after this one ?"
Corinne: "There are so many more stories yet to be told, and threats to defend against, within Thedas, but that's all we can say for now as we don't have anything new to announce."
Q: "With the polarizing nature of this iteration of Dragon Age, how did the media attention affect the team as a whole and the morale leading into and post launch?"
Corinne: "This is a tough one to answer, because it's so personal and specific to each member of the team. So let me say this, we've seen that with each Dragon Age release there has been a passionate, and sometimes polarized, response. When you consider how invested the players are, the nature of reinvention in the franchise, and the commitment to inclusivity, it makes a lot of sense to see the broad array of reactions. What I can say is that the team is really proud of what they have built, and the positive critical reception it's received. Within the team, we've been sharing all of the wonderful letters, fan art, and anecdotes from the players, and listening closely to the constructive criticism. That's really where we focus our attention."
Q: "Could you comment on current logic of Lucanis romance? Him leaving PC because of a certain choice does not make sense, because right after that he picks up the romance arc with Neve, who did exactly same choice. Was it intentional, or are we dealing with a broken plot flag or oversight?"
Corinne: "Lucanis is a deeply passionate individual, and rightly or wrongly, can't overlook that it was Rook's decision as the leader of the Veilguard to support Minrathous, when so many lives were bound to be lost in Treviso. It hasn't dimmed his passions, which is why he ultimately still pursues Neve, but it does come at the cost of the fledgling romance with Rook. As with all people, Lucanis is complex in the way he internalizes his experiences, and this is one he couldn't look past."
Q: "Are there any comics or books planned that are set after the events of DAV?"
John: "Ancilliary media is always tricky but personally I'd love to do more in that space. I think the ending of DATV leaves the world pretty well open to a number of different stories and exploring how the dynamics of Thedas have changed after the events of DATV is, IMO, a really fun path to go down."
Q: "Can we see Sandal in the future Game/DLC?"
Corinne: "That's an interesting possibility to explore. Especially given what we've learned in Harding's quest line and the awakening of her powers through her connection to the Titans. It's a really fascinating side of lore, but like we've mentioned already we don't have any new story content coming to the game or anything further to announce."
Q: "I want to give a shout out to John, Corinne, and Trick in particular. What a great group of people who clearly love this series! Would love to know about their canon Rooks/romances and their playthroughs"
Corinne: "At this point I've done so many playthroughs it's difficult to keep them all straight! If there was one that I'd say is my "canon" however, I'd say it would be my Shadow Dragon Qunari Rogue, named 'Rin'. She was a Veil Ranger who was always a bit quick on the draw, chose to save Minrathous, selected Maevaris for Archon, and romanced her one true love: Taash! Ultimately Rin and Taash agreed that Taash should honor their life as a Rivani, before we defeated the gods, redeemed Solas, and sent him off into the fade to be with his own true love: The Inquisitor. <3"
John: "Qunari mage Rook who's romancing Harding. He's the handsomest Qunari in Thedas, and that's a burden he bears every day. I'd also just add that while I appreciate the kind words, a game like this couldn't come together without a tremendous number of people, far more than are active on social media. So shout out to the whole team for the hard work they've done."
Q: "Can we hope to see something related to Awakened Darkspawn in the future that the franchise has? (As in prequels or new instalments.)"
Corinne: "Difficult to say. I've always been a fan of the rare cases of Awakened Darkspawn, but if they were to turn up, it would need to be because they were right for the story."
Q: "My question is - what are your plans for upcoming patches? Do you expect that they'll mainly be bug fixes, or is there a possibility that there could be content patches? And if so, any chance for more interaction between Rook and the companions, since that's top of many of our wishlists for the game right now? (Lucanis in particular for me :) but every one of us has their own favorites!)"
Corinne: "I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! I believe we've responded to another question about the post launch plans, but let me include some of that information here as well. We're currently focused on various bug fixes, balance updates, and quality-of-life improvements. Notably new character creator options and armors for DA Day and N7 Day, and some cool features like Photo Mode filters. Beyond this focus however, we largely view this story as complete and are not planning for further story content."
Q: "Where does Andraste and the Maker fit into the world of Thedas given all that was revealed during Trespasser and Veilguard. We obviously know the whole story about the Evanuris and their role in shaping the world as it is, the Black City, the Blight, etc. Is The Maker just a human mythology that sprang up to explain this? Does The Maker still exist?"
John: "That's a weighty question. I do think there are some questions we should never (and likely will never) answer completely - I think the moment you reveal everything there is to know about a fantasy universe, you start to lose some of the mystery that brought people into it in the first place."
Q: "Are you going to add new armor or skins as you added the Mass Effect one?"
Corinne: "We actually just dropped the new Hawke-inspired armor, face paint, and body paint, as of today in celebration of Dragon Age Day!! Really hope you enjoy! I know for me personally, it's going to be my go-to transmog armor from now on."
Q: "What features/storylines were left on the cutting room floor? Followup if you're feeling generous: How was the development of Veilguard viewed internally, and was the majority of the studio satisfied with the time given to develop the game?"
Corinne: "Tightening up content and making cuts is a tough but typical part of game development. A few of the biggest cuts we had to make were trimming down the Faction story arcs, and letting go of a few explorable spaces. There were also a few areas, like blighted Weisshaupt that we could've returned to and explore. In both cases however, I believe we rightly opted to let go of these quests and areas in favor of increased focus on the quality of the existing Faction quests and exploration areas and shipping a high quality performing experience."
Q: "After reading the Dragon Age: The Veilguard book I noticed the jurassic tortoises didn't make the cut into the game, they were also teased in the initial teaser trailer from a few years ago. Any particular reason they were cut?"
John: "It's less about them getting cut and more that they just never moved far enough ahead to be a part of the game with full animation sets (combat, locomotion, etc)"
Q: "Is there any hope that you'll be announcing official mod tools, or a toolset like Dragon Age: Origins?"
Corinne: "No, we don't have any plans for official mod support."
Q: "My question is >! where does Solas/where do Solas and the Inquisitor go off to at the end if he’s redeemed? Back into the prison he made or just the fade in general?"
John: "We're leaving that ambiguous on purpose, but given that the Fade is shaped by dreams and thoughts, I think it's fair to say that the section of the Fade that Solas and the Inquisitor end up in is a lot nicer than the Fade that Solas gets trapped in with the other two endings."
Q: "How do you think Veilguard sets up the future of the franchise? Where would you like to take it from here?"
Corinne: "I'm sure it won't surprise you when I say we riff on this topic a lot! What really captures my imagination now that we've resolved some of the mysteries pertaining to the blight and the Elven gods, is exploring the aftermath of this crisis in a deeply destabilized Thedas. As you can imagine, given a blight of this magnitude, and the revelations of the Elven gods, it's going to have long lasting geo-political implications, and there will be those eager to take advantage of the situation. Not to mention, there is so much yet to explore in the nature of the the Dwarves and Qunari, and their relationship to the Titans and Dragons respectively."
John: "To riff on what Corinne is saying - I think, for myself, I'd love to look at taking it down from 'end of the world' to 'the world is changing, how do you adapt and react'. The balance of power has changed, and the Sword of Damocles that is the Evanuris and the Blight is no longer hanging over the world. What does that look like? Who's on top now? And with all the revelations brought up in DATV, what does that look like for the Dwarves, or the Qunari?"
Q: "1) I've seen people that they believe Andraste was a vessel for Mythal because of a comment Morrigan makes about a previous vessel falling in love with an Almarri Chieftain. Is this the case or was she talking about Flemeth? 2. About the Executors, is their manipulation more on the level of leaking information to select people to guide events, or is it more along the lines of "Loghain suspects that Cailan wants to ally with Orlais, let's stoke his hatred by having him see/hear events that remind him of what they did." 3. Lastly, are there any plans to let us visit Kal Sharok proper in any future games? It was great getting a small glimpse of the Dwarves from there and see an outpost but would love to see the actual city!"
John: "I think I'm going to have to keep the first question a mystery for everyone. :) For the second, it varies. The Executors are very mysterious and, more importantly, incredibly risk averse. They attempt to manipulate events in the most subtle way they can manage. Sometimes that means leaving a particularly inflammatory document on the right desk. Sometimes it means stoking existing fears and doubts. Not everything they try is successful, in part because of how unwilling they are to put themselves at risk. For Loghain, it would have been incredibly subtle. He's smart, strong willed and, in his own way, loyal to Ferelden to a fault. For others, it would've been different. I'd love to do more with Kal Sharok as there are some interesting stories still to tell that involve them, but we don't have anything to announce as it relates to future games."
Q: "If you could make one of the faction leaders a party member in the next game, who would you choose?"
Corinne: "For me, it would absolutely be Evka and Antoine (you have to bring them as a couple, right???). They've come to have place in my heart, and I would love to know what the future of the Wardens looks like. That said, a couple of runners up: Maevaris Tilani, and a reprised companion role for Isabela, would make me very excited!"
Q: "Did you expect so many players to be so thirsty over Emmrich? He is the best player in the game for me, thank you for his lovely presence."
Corinne: "I mean, we definitely had our suspicions. Within the dev team, we are also fans of the game, and what we found was that some of us were very drawn to, and quite vocal about, our resident necromancer. There's something so endearing about his gentle demeanor and that juxtaposition of necromancy as a force for good and reverence, that makes him really compelling."
Q: "I wanted to start out by saying I love this game, but one of my major questions is: What happened with the Lords of Fortune? They have significantly less content and reactivity than the other factions with Rook not even commenting on things that they would already know like Isabela explaining what "Pulling a Barv" is. Similarly, the Lords don't have a theme for the Lighthouse OR colorways or even a real faction quest line like the others have. Were they intended to be a different faction (a qunari/tal vashoth one maybe) and it got swapped late? Where they just added late when time/budget was already running low? Was it determined that fewer players would pick that faction so less resources were allocated? I feel like there's a reason as to why since the difference between playing as a Lord and playing as any other faction feels really extreme."
Corinne: "We always knew that some of the factions needed to have a larger presence in the overall story than others, so when we approached our content planning, we took that into account. They are inherently assymetrical. That said, I think there is a lot of interesting material to now work with in regards to the Lords of Fortune and the Rivain Coast if that's right for another story."
Q: "What was the motivation behind writing the Inquisitior's missives and the ultimate fate of southern Thedas? Is that an area you are likely to revisit in future games? T his question is the result of a lot of discussion that's been had in the fandom as of late and one to which there's no definite answer, but I'm curious: as developers and writers, what features and qualities do you believe make up Dragon Age's core identity?"
Corinne: "Around the time we approached Alpha, we realized that this blight, and the impact of the gods on all of Thedas was so much bigger than what the player would see in the north. We felt this was a natural opportunity to have the Inquisitor serve as that connection to the events happening in the South, to show that the entirety of Thedas was impacted, and the Inquisitor was not one to stand idly by. Sometimes I daydream about exploring the parallel adventures of the Inquisitor in the south while these events are unfolding in the north. That could be a really fascinating tale and perspective. Regarding Dragon Age's core identity. Well, that's a big question and one that will mean different things to different people. I can tell you that internally we've always stood-by the mantra that 'Dragon Age is an experience about people'. That is to say, the setting serves as an opportunity to really explore the depths and motivations of characters during times of crisis, joy, and companionship. Another that I reflect on frequently is how Dragon Age has become a franchise where each game has been different in its approach, and while it can make these titles challenging to develop, it also creates an opportunity to keep the franchise fresh."
Q: "What was the reasoning behind only making Dock Town an explorable area in Minrathous, rather than a combination of areas of the city, such as where the upper class lives?" [I think this comment was edited at some point after posting hence some of the answer below seeming unrelated]
John: "Given the state of Thedas at the end of DATV, Minrathous has become the diplomatic hub for the entire continent. While we could, to some degree, avoid references to the Divine and Ferelden's leader by virtue of this game taking place in Northern Thedas, I don't think that would be possible (or satisfying) going forward. There will, as always, be some choices that we won't reference, but others are, I think, going to be required to tell a coherent story in the future. Focus, more than anything. We originally had a few areas in Minrathous but rather than spread our resources thinly across multiple areas, we chose to focus on Dock Town and make sure it felt coherent and cohesive, as well as doing our best to stamp out any bugs we found. If we ever revisit Minrathous (which I'd love to do), I think we'd spend more time in the other districts. Both Harding and Davrin have specific, non-quantum reasons for being willing to sacrifice everything to stop the gods. For Davrin, he saw Weisshaupt fall - and he had his own opportunity to heroically sacrifice himself taken away. For Harding, she's been on this quest for nearly a decade, and she saw Varric, her friend and mentor, fall. Neve/Lucanis could have worked in either slot but that multiplies the complexity even further - and Neve already was earmarked for the wards."
Q: "During development, did you plan for a cameo of any companion from previous games that ultimately got scrapped? If so, may I ask who? And on this topic, has an appearance of the Hero of Ferelden on the table at any point? Is there a reason they haven't appeared since Origins?"
Corinne: "Thank you so much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed! While not a companion, for a long while Charter had a role in the game. Ultimately we felt this wasn't the best fit and decided to move away from her appearance. In some cases, the opposite was true, where we added former Companions. Bringing back Isabela was a relatively late call, but we did feel we had the right role for her to fill within the Lords of Fortune. I often think about the role the Hero of Ferelden might play. It's a challenging one due to the choices the player may have made, not to mention how we handle giving them a voice that matches player expectation given they were a silent protaganist. But I do think there is something there, and I would like to explore it, if we can find the right story to tell."
Q: "If an elf were to, say, exist in the Fade for an extended period of time, would they regain the elven magic (if not already a mage) and immortality? 👀 And if, hypothetically, they one day returned to the physical realm, would those qualities persist? (Tried to be as unspoil-y as possible!)"
John: "I think, at this point, no one really knows what's going to happen to an elf who spends an extended time in the Fade. In part because the Elves of today and the Elves of Solas' past are not really the same at all. But also, the Fade has changed since Solas was a spirit. So while he may have theories, he can't say anything for certain."
Q: "Throughout the game there are many hints at a new storyline involving the past of the Qun, The Devouring Storm, and the involvement of The Executors. In what capacity can we expect this new narrative thread to be explored (novels, comics, next game)?"
John: "I think that if these story elements aren't at the core of any new material, they're at the very least going to exist on the periphery. The story of the Evanuris is done - the gods are dead (or imprisoned) and Thedas is in a state of flux and uncertainty. I imagine that whatever happens next is going to be a surprise to everyone, including the people of Thedas."
Q: "I was wondering what happened to the forgotten one and why was he scared of the eye does that mean something or is it just him say that he is scared of going back into the fade"
John: "When Anaris is defeated, he's sent back to the Void. What's there isn't something anyone really knows, but if you read the other Codex entries scattered around Arlathan, it's clear that Anaris has touched something far darker and more dangerous than he expected, and now it has his scent, so to speak."
Q: "Compared to previous installments, Dragon Age: The Veilguard makes an effort to de-centralize the moral complexities of Thedas (i.e. the softening of the Antivan Crows, the lack of slavery seen in Tevinter, etc), instead focusing on choices based on character arcs instead of politics and/or morals. Is this shift an intentional one? If so, should we expect these kinds of character choices to be the new standard for Dragon Age games?"
John: "What worked for DATV isn't necessarily what's going to work for the future. Particularly with Thedas left in the state it's in - the balance of power has shifted dramatically. The South is suffering and the North isn't doing much better. Even those who may have forgotten past prejudices and put aside their differences in the name of stopping the gods are now being faced with a very different world than when they began this fight."
Q: "What other player choices from Inquisition and/or Origins & DA2 would you have liked to have implemented if you had more time and resources? Also, what characters would you have wanted to bring back?"
John: "Well of Sorrows. I think that's the biggest one - and we had some ideas for what we wanted to do with it. Unfortunately, making games is rarely a straight line endeavour, and some of the challenges we ran into required us to scrap that choice. I'd have liked to do more with the Divine as well, though with how little we touched on Andrasteism in this game I think it would've been a bigger challenge than expected. I think Fenris is the easy answer, but it's also the real one. Given his history, his relationship with Dorian and Mae could've been fun to explore, particularly depending on how you left him in DA2. That said, the challenge always does come down to 'quantum' - if a character could be dead, you can't make them load bearing, so they end up relegated to a cameo."
Q: "Is there a canon reason (maybe in some supplemental stories) that explains what happened to Fen'Harel's agents? Are some of the Dalish clans still working for Solas? What are the Arishok and the rest of the Qunari doing while the Antaam are conquering parts of Thedas? Does their absence in veilguard imply that they secretly approve of their actions or are planning on using them to their benefit? The faction of crows we interact with is very heroic and often puts aside their role as assassins in order to protect Treviso's citizens. Does their altruism create fiction between them and the other factions, who might see them as weaker or idealistic? What are some of the other factions like?"
John: "Solas' experience leading the rebellion against the Evanuris turned him against the idea of being a leader. You see it in the memories - the entire experience of being in charge ate at him and, ultimately, convinced him he needed to do this on his own. And his own motivations were very different from the motivations of those who wanted to follow him - he had no real regard for their lives or their goals. So at some point between Trespasser and DATV, he severed that connection with his 'followers' and went back to being a lone wolf. There are Dalish clans who are sympathetic to his goals, but even there, there's an understanding that he's too dangerous to have a more formal connection with, and that he will, ultimately, sacrifice them to his own ends if necessary. The Antaam no longer recognize the authority of the Arishok. Part of why they've split into warring factions of warlords is that they felt his adherence to the Qun (which he still adheres to, even now) was holding them back, so they organized what I'd describe as less of a coup and more of a 'choosing to ignore his orders' and launched their own attack on the mainland. Absolutely. I don't recall if this exchange made it into the final game, so apologies if not, but it's very clear that the faction of Crows you interact with is the 'idealists' of the bunch. The rest of the Crows, on the other hand, are far more pragmatic and willing to work with whoever emerges on top of the pile. Illario's far more representative of the average Antivan Crow than either Teia or Viago, and it's only Caterina that kept him in check this long."
Q: "What led to the player Quanari appearance compared to the Antaam, who look like Quanari from the previous game. Was it an armor modeling issue or just a design choice?"
Corinne: "To be honest, it's both. First let me say that when you have a character creator with the breadth of sliders and options for both head and body, that does create some constraints that you need to work within. We felt this was ultimately a good trade-off for the player, to ensure they could get the full range of face and body sliders that the other lineages were afforded. Also, we viewed the player-created Qunari as a continuation of the style of player-created Qunari in Dragon Age: Inquisition, which in both games, differ from some of the other forms of Qunari we've seen."
Q: "Having reviewed some of the game files, I'm curious about what the "dreamer" mechanics would've looked like? Would there have been dreamers on every map? Would it have just been a dialogue or would we have been able to see/experience the memories/dreams the dreamers are stuck in?"
Corinne: "We explored the idea of Dreamers at several points in developement. I believe the instance you're referring to was a mechanic in which you could encouter a Dreamer in the world, and then also encounter their corresponding consiousness in the Crossroads. We would have used this as a way to encourage a "back-and-forth" set of optional quests and mysteries to encourage exploration and discovery. Ultimately we abandoned the concept because mechanically the Crossroads Gates and corresponding Champions were providing a similar experience in driving the player from the Crossroads, out into the world, and then back to the Crossroads again."
Q: "The hair physics in the game are incredible. When did the studio commit to improving the hair options/physics, and was there any conversation/debate over that? Bad hair has been a staple of the franchise, so this was a delightful change to see."
Corinne: "Thank you so much! We heard the fans loud and clear, when it comes to character customization, that we needed to step up our hair game. This tech was something our engineers, character artists, and technical animators were all deeply passionate about (as you can tell!). So all of that combined it was a relatively early decision to invest in."
Q: "Some of the companions’ questlines left me craving more lore! For example, how did Valta end up as the Oracle and how does her gift differ from Harding’s? How did Zara manage to get Lucanis possessed as a rogue? Are there any other Forgotten Ones like Anaris actively trying to make their way back to the world? In short, might these questions be answered in the next Dragon Age game or additional media, or are they purposefully left open?"
Corinne: "I'm so glad these stories have their hooks in you! We have to leave some threads to tug on for future stories. ;-)"
Q: "(Spoilery question) Do elves or dwarves exist beyond Thedas?"
John: "That's a great question - and it's actually one that Bellara herself asks. I think 'what lies beyond the sea' is one of the most interesting spaces to explore in Dragon Age and whether the same people exist there is something that... well, I have some ideas, but I don't want to get into spoilers."
Q: "What happened to red lyrium? It feels like it was all but forgotten after DAI, even though it is blighted lyrium, and it felt like it would have made perfect sense to dig into its lore and workings a bit more since Ghilan'nain is the mother of the blight, and now knowing what the ancient elves did to the titans for lyrium.Red lyrium caused a lot of grief over the games that feels is just up in the air now, I'm curious if it was written out for the sake of a different narrative. Sortof connected to my previous question, if red lyrium is now not so significant in the lore/missing from it, why did the two gods need a specifically red lyrium dagger after losing Solas' purified red lyrium idol one? How does one purify something/someone of the blight itself?"
John: "Red lyrium is still present in DATV - it's how Ghilan'nain and Elgar'nan are able to craft their dagger, after all, and it ties directly into Harding's personal quest - but at a certain point it felt like it wasn't serving much of a purpose 'out in the world', so to speak, that the Blight wasn't already serving. It made a lot more sense in DAI, where you had the Red Templars who were directly using it to gain power, but without them in the picture, we chose to lighten the emphasis on it for DATV. Particularly in a game where the connection and threat of the Blight is so much more immediate, with the gods out in the world."
Q: "How did you get the hair physics to do all that?"
John: "A lot of tremendous work from character art, programming, tech art and tech animation. I'm sure I'm missing some groups but, yeah, the hair really is incredible. I've been on DA since DAO and I recall the (fair) critiques we got of our hair post-DAI. It was incredible to see it come together."
Q: "Where does Emmrich sleep? He’s the only one without a bed in his room lol"
John: "He sleeps standing up, like a horse."
Q: "which of the three/four endings do you find the most thematically satisfying? in regard to solas and/or rook (because i’m not sure the answer is the same for both!) & why isn’t rook invited to the book club?? sorry this is my villain origin story, why is my beloved emmrich enabling this social ostracism. does rook canonically hate to read?"
Corinne: "As a Solavellan, I personally love the Redeem ending with the Inquisitor/Solas romance variant. I cried my eyes out at the end of Trespasser, and now that they can finally be together to know the joys of their love makes me so happy."
John: "I'm a big fan of Outsmart, largely because I think there's something deeply satisfying in outsmarting someone who is very confident about their cleverness and spends a lot of the game reminding you of it. That said, I will admit that the Solavellan ending is deeply moving, even for someone who, at one point, wanted to fight Solas like a Yakuza boss. As for why Rook's not invited - it's entirely an attempt to avoid forcing roleplay on a character that may not fit your idea of Rook. Some people's Rooks may not have the connection to the team that would let the book club make complete sense. That said, I totally get why people wish their Rook could be involved."
Q: "TLDR: ll some classes be buffed? Iirc in an interview corinne (i think? I dont remember where or who), said shield toss got nerfed cuz it was waaaay too strong. Having playing the game now with pretty much all classes, will there be some balancing changes? I definetely dont want shield toss to be nerfed again, i love it soooo much, but its definetely waaaaaay above everything else i managed to build so far."
Corinne: "We're definitely monitoring class balance, and have generally taken the stance of "buff not nerf". That said, we're finding pretty good viability for all of the specializations, with the right supporting skills, gear, and companion builds. So in terms of priority that's lead us to largely focus on addressing properties on skills and gear that were not functioning as intended. I don't want to dismiss your feedback here though - I'll take a moment to dig deeper into our Veil Ranger data and see how those builds are comparing specifically. Glad you're enjoying the shield toss builds. That playstyle was definitely one that we were very excited about supporting!"
Q: "Why did Assan have to die with Davrin in the Ghilan'nain choice?"
Corinne: "Turlum is a powerful bond. There was simply no way Assan would have given up on Davrin so easily. Hope is a powerful force when it comes to the people you love, and sometimes we risk everything for it."
Q: "Something that has me confused. When Bellara/Neve are blighted but help use the blight to stop Elgarnan and at the end when all the blight in the area died and they were cured of the blight. How did they get cured? Is the blight itself now curable? Also, how did Solas manage to cure the red lyrium idol of the blight so he could have it back to it being the normal lyroum dagger?"
John: "When Solas bound himself (or, depending on your ending, was forcibly bound) to the Veil, it severed the connection that the Blight had to the waking world. The reality is that the Veil has been leaking ever since the Magisters first entered the Black City, and the dreams of the Titans gave it its terrible and awesome power. Now that the Veil is fully repaired, the Blight lacks that motive force, and being so close to the epicenter of that change has stripped the Blight in Minrathous of its vitality. It's calcified now - dead - and Bellara/Neve no longer suffer its effects. If they'd been anywhere else, further from that epicenter, it would've likely been different and they still would be looking for a cure. But without that power behind it, it's less dangerous and deadly than it's ever been before. So while it isn't generally 'curable', it's less of a short-term death sentence than it has been previously. As for how Solas cleansed the idol - another ritual. This one was much smaller scale, but a lot more dangerous."
Q: "What lead you to the decision to step away from active conversations with the companions as in previous Bioware games, where you can initiate them at any moment and ask exhaustive questions?"
John: "For us, because of tech limitations, it became a choice between exhaustive investigate conversations, or letting the companions move more freely around the Lighthouse. With the kind of experience we were going for, one where seeing the team grow around you is paramount, we felt that seeing them interact in common spaces (and in each other's rooms) made more sense."
Q: "I have just one very important question: what are your thoughts on Solas and Rook as a pairing? Their chemistry and interactions were a highlight in the game for me personally and I need to be able to sass and then kiss that egghead."
Corinne: "Oh gosh, you and me both! I'm not sure any of us could have anticipated how notable that chemistry turned out. And what excites me is how this relationship is something that could be developed even further."
Q: "I was wondering if it would be possible to see Cassandra in Nevarra interacting with Emmerich or Zevran in Antiva interacting with Lucanis? I understand that there a danger of turning any game into a cameo fest that would only appeal to old school fans but I did miss them. Especially as we had Isabella and Dorian in Rivain and Tevinter. To make the question a little more general what are the chances of seeing pre veilguard companions in any future iteration of dragonage?"
John: "I think the joy of the kind of 'fresh start' that the end of The Veilguard gives us is that, if we do make another game, we're no longer spending so much of the early game not only onboarding players into a new story, but also onboarding some of them (namely, those who didn't play DAI or don't remember it) into the story that leads up to this story. And part of what that allows you is more opportunity for returning characters who are meaningful, because their past is less likely to be narratively load bearing to the story. People who recognize them will have a moment of recollection, and people who don't won't be any more confused by the experience."
Q: "How did Jowin achieve the rank of First Warden? Was he ever deserving of the kind of respect Davrin seemed to have for him?"
John: "By the time you meet Jowin in DATV, he's become a political creature more than anything else. Which makes sense - after what happened to the Order in Origins, I think there was an internal realization that they had to spend more time making nice with the leaders of the various countries so no one would ever do to them again what Loghain did back then. But he didn't get that position entirely due to his connections. He was a fearsome warrior and a brave Warden in his own right, saving people and winning against impossible odds time and time again. He's older, though, and is still fighting the last war in his mind. Internally, we always described him as the general who was a brilliant tactician back in his time, but war has changed so dramatically and he refuses to keep up. I think he was deserving of that respect, though - and if you choose to talk him down (which very few of you seem to have done) you'll get a glimpse of the man he used to be."
Q: "If Solas ritual succeeded, what would have happened to the elves? And to the human? The art book make it look like they just drop dead but solas dialogs don't seems to go in that direction"
John: "I think the reality is that even Solas couldn't properly answer that question. In his mind, there would be some pain and suffering, for sure, as everyone adjusted to the raw magic now pouring into the world and the demons everywhere, but eventually everyone would live surrounded by magic and possibility. Immortality would be possible as well, and you can't make a world saving omelette without breaking a few eggs. I also think Solas is a gifted liar to everyone, including himself. Deep down he knew that the ritual was going to result in large scale casualties, but he saw it as an acceptable price to pay to fix what he saw as his mistake."
Q: "Unlike the last game, there were 2 fewer Companions, a rouge, and a warrior less, if it was up to you what sort of characters would fill up those two spots? and also if you could have a character from earlier games temporarily join you for a single quest who would you choose? with the exception of Bioware games which RPG game is your favorite"
Corinne: "Oh gosh, well I'll answer some of questions 1 & 2 together... I would have loved to bring back Fenris, either as a cameo or to fill that Warrior slot. As for the Rogue role, I do think something akin to the Saboteur Specialization would have been an interesting style for a Companion. Favorite RPG outside of BioWare games, well I'll give you three in order: Baldur's Gate 3, then Xenogears, followed by FFXII."
Q: "What happens to the lighthouse and the crossroads after the end of the game? Do the Veiljumpers claim it?"
Corinne: "Good question! I actually daydream about this one a lot! Does Rook, assuming they survived, continue to reside there given what they'd been through with Solas? Is stewardship returned to the Elven people? One thing has always been true for me: The Lighthouse existing as it does is intrinsically linked to the Caretaker, and I doubt we've seen the last of them."
Q: "My questions are mainly centered around the game's lore. Dragon Age Veilguard seems to have established a very elf centric past for the world as well as the races populating the world. Current state of the Titans, the Blight, the Old Gods, and some other things I may be forgetting, they all have links and origins to the Evanuris and the rest of the elves. In future installments, can we hope for other races to get more attention with respect to this? Because right now, it feels that most of the biggest mysteries of the universe as well as circumstances leading to the present state of the world, are a result of the elves... T o me, the magic system in Veilguard felt very different from the other games in the series. When Bellara mentioned stuff like 'recalibrate the matrices', 'readjusting energy flow', etc., it felt more scifi than fantasy. None of the past Dragon Age games had this kind of talk and it felt too big a leap for going from Southern Thedas to the North, especially considering none of the Northern characters in past Dragon Age games spoke like this either. This was one of the few instances in the game that felt immersion breaking to me. Can you guys help reconcile Veilguard's magic system with the magic of the past games?"
John: "I do agree that the elves have had their place in the sun at this point. We're never going to stop telling stories about the elves, but I think there are plenty of interesting stories to tell in Thedas where the Evanuris are tertiary characters at most. I think that's a fair reaction, but I'll answer the question in two parts. First - Bellara assumes she knows everything about magic. She probably knows more about the way ELVEN magic works better than anyone else in the world who isn't an Evanuris - but that doesn't mean she actually knows how magic itself works. The thing about the Evanuris is that, ultimately, they were able to take a very specific type of magic and shape it into doing what they wanted. But even their understanding of magic was only skin deep. Bellara and Emmrich get into this a little bit in their banter, but so much of the rest of the world - the magic of death that the Mourn Watch wield, for example, or the magic of the deep Fade that Bellara feels when she does some of her experiments in the lighthouse - is not the same as Elven magic. Even the magic that Tevinter wields, the magic of the Southern mages, is different from what the Evanuris used. The magic of the Evanuris is powerful but it's sterile, and it's constrained. So while the Evanuris have made magic work in a way that's more predictable and understandable, it's not the only kind of magic out there, and even then, I'd say they understood it at a very surface level. People were confidently describing how the natural world worked back in the 16th century. Very few of them were right."
Q: "I need to know about companion approval! I understand how companion bond rank works as it is well explained and visible in-game, but I cannot seem to find a good explanation for approval. Are the two linked? What effect does approval/disapproval have in the game? Is there something I'm missing in-game where current approval level is visible and I just haven't found it yet? PS: Spellblade Supremacy"
Corinne: "Yes! They are linked! Approval does contribute a small-to-moderate amount of progress towards your Bond. Disapproval is a small negative, but it's important to note that your Bond cannot de-level. Overall however, the surest way to advance your Bond is by helping the Companions with their personal quests. Also, really glad you enjoyed Spellblade as much as we did! The gameplay team really outdid themselves with that Specialization."
Q: "I'm mostly wondering if/how the griffons can be saved as a species since there's only one surviving clutch. It seems like a lack of genetic diversity would doom them to re-extinction, but I'm hoping there's a lore-friendly way to overcome that."
John: "It's funny you say that because I keep thinking the exact same thing. I can't remember exactly how much genetic diversity you need to have to make a species viable but I am sure it's more than just the clutch of eggs you saved from the Gloom Howler. But in a setting with as much magic and mystery as Dragon Age, I think that's probably the least of the problems the Griffons are going to face going forward."
Q: "With the ending showing a cured Neve/Bellara is that implying that the Blight outside of the Fade has been cured? If so, do Wardens no longer hear the calling, and what does that mean for the Kal-Sharok dwarves? Especially curious about this since DA:I implied the HoF was searching for a cure to the calling. In the concept art book it seemed like there were plans to show us more of Minrathous/Tevinter than just Dock Town. Curious to know what changed and if we will ever have an opportunity to return to other areas of the city?"
John: "The Blight is forever changed. It's less perilous and less virulent than it was before, and whatever motive force was coming through the Veil to empower it at the end of the game has been severed. That said, it still exists in some form, and not everyone is going to be cured in the same way. Beyond that - the Wardens no longer hear the whisper of the Calling, but right at the edges of perception, they're hearing something. What is it? Great question. With how long this game's been in development, there are things that have come and gone over time as we shift the project's scope and direction from one type of game to another. Originally we did have more of Minrathous built out for the player, but we chose to focus on making Dock Town feel meaningfully full of content instead of creating more areas just to put nothing in them. I will say that, for me, I want to revisit Minrathous in the future. I don't think we gave it enough time and there are multiple other stories that can be told both in it and with it. Particularly with the way the game ends, its importance in the world has only gone up, as it's become the diplomatic hub of Thedas, and thus a place of even greater importance in the world."
Q: "Maybe someone else can answer this question but why does Mythal’s essence relieve Solas of his guilt in the romanced Inquisitor ending when in his memories, she’s objecting to what he’s doing? Since winged dragons are female, does that mean the Archdemons/Old Gods are female? I noticed they’re labeled as male on the wiki and was unsure if it’s not updated or Old God followers assumed or were told they were male. I understand if this might pose as a logistical nightmare but would the devs consider polyamorous and/or open relationships instead of monogamy if they haven’t already? Given how diverse sexuality is in Thedas, I’m surprised there aren’t more instances of poly/open relationships. I miss going to brothels too"
John: "People grow and change over time. Mythal's essence - and in particular, the fragment of her spirit that Morrigan carries, that she got from Flemeth - is not the same Mythal who he knew millennia ago. Centuries of living in this world and being around the kinds of people Flemeth found herself around - the Hero of Ferelden, Hawke, the Inquisitor - changed her views, and made her realize her own culpability in turning Solas into the kind of person he is now. Correct, all Archdemons are female. Elgar'nan, of course, doesn't really care what reality is, only what HIS reality is, and so he's quite happy to see Lusacan as simply being an extension of himself and, thus, male. Something about Elgar'nan that we only really show in the ending is that he is, in truth, just as scarred and blighted as Ghilan'nain, but he uses a portion of his magic to always look handsome and regal, because his ego really is that big. Polyamory is something we've talked about doing before, and it's something that I know the writing team was into, but rather than simply turning it into a 'you can have multiple romances' toggle we wanted to be sure we did it respectfully and properly."
Q: "Does Solas know about the Executors and will he ever appear again in future games (similar to Morrigan)? Was there ever a point that the Inquisitor was considered as the main or secondary protagonist for this game? It was interesting to have a person with no knowledge about Solas–a cunning, ancient elven god–try to track him down especially when that anonymity did not work in their favor anyway (Solas knew about Rook for a year prior to meeting). Was 'rook' initially an alias for the Inquisitor, which they'd utilize to stay under the radar in the north, away from Solas' agents eyes and able to track him down because they knew him well (ex-companion/friend/lover)? Like was this idea ever discussed at the table or suggested by writers but trunked for xyz reasons? Idon't know if Trick Weekes will see this but I just wanted to tell them thank you for writing Solas-- in a HEA ending, what do you think they're upto in the prison? (besides the obvious)"
John: "Solas knows more about the Executors than he's let on - in fact, he knows more about the Executors than any other living being, including the other Evanuris (though I suppose they're not technically living beings anymore). But even he isn't entirely sure what they're up to or who they actually are. Their paths have crossed before, though - beyond the Tevinter Nights story that they briefly show up in. As to whether he appears again - I think it's fair to say Solas' story is done, at least for now. Even back in early development, the protagonist for this game was always going to be someone other than the Inquisitor. I don't recall if, in those early days, we ever discussed the possibility of bringing them back - the struggle with having the same protagonist game after game is that you really do paint yourself into a corner. Either it becomes prohibitively expensive to account for branching, or you ultimately underserve the very people you're bringing them back for. Rook was always the protagonist, though in very early days Rook had a number of other potential monikers including Shrike and a number of other bird names that I do not remember."
Q: "Why aren’t the Tranquil ever mentioned or depicted in the game? Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure the word tranquil isn’t used even once. Have they been retconned? During development was there ever a conversation about potentially including a Solas wins ending? Where he succeeds in tearing down the Veil either because you let him or because you fail to stop him? I know I’d be curious to see what Thedas would look like afterward."
John: "Tranquility still exists. While not unheard of in Tevinter, the reality is that it's a far more common punishment in Southern Thedas than it ever was in Tevinter. In Tevinter, in particular, it's used more of a tool of political vengeance - but generally, only against a mage who is utterly without allies or political power. All the Tevinter mages you encounter in DATV, including Maevaris, still have some clout and subjecting them to the rite would be a huge expenditure of political capital for very little gain. Better to leave them alive and stripped of their formal authority. We had a few conversations about some non-standard game over endings, actually - anywhere from 'player takes too long in the Prologue' to an out-and-out 'yeah you know what I think I'll help Solas' conversation choice early on. What we released in the game I'm happy with though, as there are already multiple different endings you can get depending on your choices in the game."
Q: "Any chance we're going to get any behind-the-scenes content? I CRAVE a high-quality video clip of Zach doing mocap for Assan."
Corinne: "You never know! We do enjoy sharing new content from the game on our social channels so follow along in case something pops up."
Q: "What was your favourite region/area to work on (whether that be writing quests, level design, or any aspect)?"
Corinne: "For me, it was definitely Arlathan Forest. The team had so much fun with the exploration, the environmental storytelling, and the strange magic manifesting in the area. In particular I remember the first time I saw people that had been twisted into trees showing up in the area, I was taken back by the inventiveness of the team in capturing that beauty in horror. I must say, I also found the sightlines in the area absolutely gorgeous. It was really fun to watch it develop."
Q: "What are these called? [link]"
John: "Tadpoles is the name we use internally."
Q: "are telemetry surprising you in any regard?"
Corinne: "The biggest surprise for me in the telemetry is that the Save Minrathous/Treviso choice is basically split 50/50. We were all anticipating that saving Treviso would be the clear winner, but I'm happy to see it's not so cut and dry."
Q: "Did you ever thought that players would be addicted to having Rook barrel through crates and chests? There should be an Achievement for non stop barrel rolls lol."
Corinne: "Oh 100% yes! In fact, originally wide-spread destructibles weren't really planned for as a part of the game. We found with our particular take on combat that it just felt reaaaally good to smash the few destructibles that we did have. I think I spent the better part of a year putting in constant requests to make more and more things smash and break apart - not to mention the ability to roll through them! I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my obsession. Let's go break things!!"
Q: "1) Was there any plan with Radonis during concept period? 2) What more about Neve's family can you share? 3) Is there a parallel in the way Solas sacrificed the world to restore the elven world and Celene burned Halamshiral to save Orlais from a civil war? (Trick Weekes p l e a s e)"
Corinne: "At one point we did toy with having Radonis make an actual appearance in the game. In fact, if Minrathous falls to the Venatori, we had discussed having his execution on display, but we ultimately chose not to pursue this."
John: "For Neve, I'll have to ask Neve's writer, as I don't recall off the top of my head. For the question about Solas - I think it's less a direct parallel and more that Dragon Age is a series where major players sometimes have to make incredibly difficult decisions that may NOT necessarily be the best decision, but it's the best for them at the time - true for both Solas and Celene."
Q: "I just want to know... do the other companions also think Davrin's a hunk? Do you think there are companions who were rooting for a Rook x Companion romance as it was happening?"
John: "I think the different companions have different relationships with Davrin. Bellara, for example, sees him as almost a big brother - someone who she has a unique connection that she doesn't share with the other companions. Neve sees him as a fellow professional, who hunts monsters in much the same way as she does, just that his monsters are a lot more literal. As for who's rooting for a romance - I think Bellara is just excited whenever people get together. She's a huge romantic and a believer in happy ever after, so she's going to fully support whoever of her friends get together."
Q: "Please humor my newfound Nevarran cuisine obsession - it seems, based on the menu at the Lords of Fortune bar, that Nevarra is majority vegetarian ("want it Nevarran-style? Ask to leave off the meat!" or something like that), and we know Emmrich is a vegetarian. But Emmrich also reveals his father was a poor butcher. So, my questions - Who is eating the meat produced by Nevarran butchers if Nevarra is vegetarian enough that other countries equate Nevarran = veggie? Do butchers largely cater to non-Nevarran immigrants or visitors? Are the Mortalitasi/Mourn Watch entirely vegetarian (would make sense, just because of being put off by being around corpses all day, and their reverence for said corpses)"
John: "While Nevarra is a primarily vegetarian country, that doesn't mean everyone who lives there is a vegetarian. Nevarra attracts plenty of students and scholars from around the world, given its unique connection to the Necropolis and the specific magic tutelage that the Mourn Watch offers. With that in mind, its cuisine is going to be pretty broad across a number of different cultures and regions - and for some of those cuisines, meat is absolutely a very big part of it."
Q: "My biggest question is this: if Solas had been released by Mythal before Inquisition started, would he have let go of his plan? Was service to her all that was motivating him? Or would he have decided to continue with his plan until the inquisition showed him that the modern world mattered?"
John: "The latter, I think. It took the confluence of everything that's happened to him in the time since he woke back up to get him to where he needed to be for the Redeem ending. Guilt and regret motivate Solas."
Q: "When I’m writing, I tend to listen to music that goes along with it. Did any of the Devs have songs they listened to that they felt tied into the game or the characters?"
John: "I can't speak to the other writers necessarily, but for Bellara I listened to a LOT of Aphex Twin. There's something about the ambient weirdness that really worked for me as I was writing her character (to the point that one of their songs is my most listened song in 2024)."
Q: "Are rivalry paths abandoned for Bioware games? What made you design approval/bond in a way that only goes up?"
Corinne: "Oh definitely not! Rivalry will continue to have a role when the story calls for it. In the case of Veilguard, we conceived of this threat being so large, that your companions would commit no matter the cost. This afforded us some unique opportunities, like being able to tie the progression of the Companions to your relationship with them."
Q: "What are you as a team most proud of and are there any plans for a NG+ Update ?"
Corinne: "Gosh, there are so many ways I could answer this. And I think the answer would differ depending on who on the team you were to ask. So let me just say this: The creation of any game of this scope, with a team this large, is kind of miraculous when you consider all the knowledge, coordination, discussion, and expertise required. So broadly speaking, what I'm most proud of is the way the team came together to pivot and be true to BioWare's roots of creating great single-player party-based RPGs, and delivered such quality and stablity. I'm also quite proud of how player-first the effort was; Everything from being Steam native, to no Denuvo, to no micro transactions. We mustn't take for granted what monumental task it was to make this happen. There are individual features and experiences that I know we are all proud of as well. The character creator, for example, was a really big one for us. We've long sought to put the control over player-characters in the hands of the fans, and this is the game where the team believes we've best done that. In fact, it was central to one of our creative pillars "Be who you want to be". As for NG+, that's something we discussed, but at this point we don't have any plans to support it."
Q: "Can you go into more detail of Spite’s role in Rook and Lucanis’s romance? Did you expect everyone to want to romance Vorgoth?"
John: "Spite gives Lucanis and Rook privacy whenever they're being intimate. This was, I'm sure you'll be surprised to hear, a consistent topic of discussion as we planned out some of our romance scenes - is Spite watching? But no, he wanders off and reads a book (or whatever demons do for fun). At this point I am not surprised about anyone y'all want to romance. Sentient fog bank? Sure"
Q: "Looking further, what parts of Thedas you personally want to explore more (regardless if that will or will not be implemented in the future games)? Maybe specific time periods?"
John: "I don't think it's any secret that I find the idea of 'what lies across the sea' to be fascinating. It shows up a lot in Bellara's content - what happened in the parts of the world that weren't Thedas? But Kal-Sharok is another place I'd love to spend more time in. It has a very unique relationship to dwarven culture, and particularly in a post-DATV world, it feels like it'd be super interesting to get more time with them."
Q: "What made you decide to remove greatswords as an option? It's one of The fantasy weapons. Why did you choose to have a "convergent" design, gameplay wise, of classes? What i mean is that all classes have a melee option, a "parry" of sorts, amd a ranged option, with warriors throwing a nonexistent shield when 2h. Usually, in an rpg, different classes have different capabilities and limits, to make them feel more diverse. What made you choose otherwise?"
Corinne: "Originally when we concieved the 2-handed weapon stance for Warrior we did want to include Greatswords. We moved away from it largely because the movement set when swinging a large blade diverges quite a bit from what you'd see with an axe or a hammer. Ultimately we felt, given the number of bespoke animations and transitions it would take, that the time is better invested in other areas of the experience. Regarding the classes, we opted for a unified control scheme and baseline set of actions each could take (e.g. every class having a ranged attack for example) for several reasons: 1. In knowing that each class has a similar core set of actions, it allowed to better design the encounters, levels, and missions with a greater level of variety. If Warrior, for example, had no ranged attack, a large number of the missions would have much more egregious constraints on what we expect the player to do. 2. It allowed us significantly more space to play with the types of builds and breath of the skill tree. We're all very proud of how this played out in practice, and in our view created a high degree of divergence. 3. Given the real-time nature of the gameplay, it's a benefit to lean into the muscle memory the players have already established on prior playthroughs"
Q: "Hi I'm non-binary and the ability to be non-binary in this game was really special and made me feel seen in a way no game has before. In addition---TAASH! "NUFF SAID. Love em! My question is: how did you get so much past censors in 2024? How did you deal with localization? Was EA supportive of the push for more representation? Do you think we can see more diverse companions like Taash and our own player character in the future in Bioware games? I am a little worried about the backlash to Taash and the player character, especially right now. It is scary to think about going backwards after you've just achieved this amazing thing for video games. Thank you so much for making me feel so loved playing a video game, this game gives me so much hope and joy for being a trans gamer and nerd and person. I know there's a lot of hate but for me it means the world."
Corinne: "I'm so glad Taash meant so much to you, and so many others! There are two mantras we often refer to within the team: 1. We believe stories are better when they reflect a large variety of relatable experiences. 2. Games can be a reflection of the teams that make them. Taash's journey and support we had in bringing it to life, was something everyone on the team wanted to do and was invested in. It was a story and experience we wanted to tell that made sense in this time and place. I wont lie, it wasn't easy. This is a delicate subject, deserving of respect, that is deeply personal to so many. We didn't want to mess it up, especially for those it would mean the most to. We were fortunate to have a lot of support through internal and external partners to ensure we were handling this story with care, and of course the talented writing and experience of Trick Weekes. It lead to a lot of edits, localization challenges, and some rewrites. But as the old adage goes, nothing worth having comes easy."
Q: "If Solas is bald because the ancient elves just go bald during their immortal lifespans, then why does Elgar’nan have hair?"
John: "I think maybe it's more accurate to say that Solas lost hair because of stress. Elgar'nan, on the other hand, doesn't feel stress - he makes other people feel stress. And, honestly, Elgar'nan is incredibly vain. Something that doesn't show up until the end game is that he's also very vain. The reason he doesn't look blighted and corrupted throughout the game is he uses a portion of his magic to remain looking the way he does."
Q: "In the DAI trespasser DLC elves saw the crossroads different from the other races. Why was that not the case in this game?"
John: "The Caretaker gets into it a little bit, but while the Crossroads in Trespasser were 'peaceful', the Crossroads in DATV are under assault by the gods."
Q: "If you could start DAI or DATV again, what would you change/add/remove? Could you share with us the most emotionally difficult moment to achieve in DATV? And the easiest? Favorite moment?"
Corinne: "One of the most difficult moments to land was actually the prologue. It sets up a lot of context for the player, and evokes a lot of big feelings. We did many revisions on it before we found the right balance of pacing, information, and tension. In my experience, prologues always are among your most reworked content"
John: "Absolutely the Varric twist. There's always a balance of trying to leave hints for the players while not having them guess the ultimate end game of it, and it's INCREDIBLY hard to make that judgment yourself, because you KNOW what's coming, and all you can see is 'how could anyone NOT get that this is coming?' But I'm happy with how it was received and how it landed. The actual conversation with Varric at the end, though - that one was a gut punch."
Q: "So… does Bianca know?"
John: "Yeah. Harding would have gotten word to her."
Q: "I'm curious to know two things, both Solas related: -What happened to his followers? Presumably they weren't /just/ following him and were on board with the revolution that he represented. -What was his plan past making a new prison and transferring the two Evanuris? It sounds like still an eventual tearing down of the Veil but how was he actually mitigating the risks across Thedas? (Presumably with that network of followers)"
John: "Essentially that. Keep the Evanuris imprisoned, tear down the Veil, and then Solas was CERTAIN everything would get better, even if some people had to, tragically, die. One of Solas' defining characteristics, of course, is that he overestimates how successful his plans are going to be (if you listen carefully to the argument between Solas and Varric in the prologue, Varric makes this exact point - everything Solas has tried ended in disaster, so why wouldn't this as well?) As to mitigating the risks - he had a few things going on, but as to how effective they would've been, I think it's safe to say that it wouldn't have worked as well as he'd hoped."
Conclusion: "We've answered everything we can for now, thank you all so much for your questions and the love for Dragon Age!"

Hi, baby! Tysm 🤭 I'm so so so sorry it took SO long. I was really busy but now I'm back. This prompt was supposed to be small and suggestive but I got carried away and honestly turned out to be the best comeback hehe please enjoy 💜
3. Flirting during his insta live
Word count: 2.4k
Warnings: smut, sub!hyunjin, sex toy (idk if the toy actually exists irl but in my fic it exists)
Alexa, play Hotline Bling by Drake

Hyunjin’s live starts late.
His hair’s a mess, fresh out of the shower judging by the damp strands tugged behind his ears. He’s in a loose white tee, collar stretched just enough to reveal his collarbone, one side of the fabric sliding dangerously off his shoulder.
“Couldn’t sleep”, he murmurs, eyes flicking to the comments, “Figured I’d keep you company”
The chat is exploding, but one comment makes his lips twitch.
‘You couldn’t sleep so you came here to thirst trap us. Be honest.’
He huffs a laugh through his nose. Looks into the camera like he knows exactly who sent that.
“Some of you are very… confident tonight”, he says, sipping his water slowly
You send another:
‘Pull that collar down a little more. For science'
He chokes, coughing into his fist.
“I think this shirt’s already struggling for its life”, he murmurs, fingers ghosting over the edge of the neckline. His thumb dips under the fabric like he might give it to you
Then he stops and smirks
“Nah. Not for free”
The chat is in chaos:
“WHAT IS GOING ON??”
“WHO is he talking to???”
“Hyunjin why are you RED?”
Another comment:
‘Don’t act shy now. I’ve seen how you get when you’re desperate’
His lips part. He sits back, letting out a slow exhale, like he’s trying to behave.
“You’re very brave behind a screen”, he mutters, “Want to say that with your mouth full next time?”
The room goes silent for a second before he realizes
Instantly, his eyes go wide
“I MEAN! Like… Full of… tea. Or food. Because you’re eating. Clearly”
He buries his face in his sleeve, muffling his laugh while fans go feral.
You don’t let up:
‘You’re twitching your thigh again. Getting worked up, baby?’
His leg immediately stops. He shifts in his seat, tongue pressing against the inside of his cheek.
“I hate you”, he says with a grin, “You know exactly what you’re doing”
More chaos:
“IS HE FLIRTING??”
“HYUNJIN YOUR THIGH IS WHAT??”
“Oh he’s GONE"
You finish him off with:
‘If you end this live without calling me, I’ll remind everyone what your voice sounds like when you moan’
He freezes.
His mouth falls open. He slams the screen with his hand like it’ll shut you up.
“Okay! Alright. That’s ENOUGH. This was nice. Love you guys. Goodnight, BYE…!”
The live ends mid giggle, his face and ears red
Seconds later, your phone lights up:
[Jinnie 💜]:
You’re so devilish.
I'm hard and mad.
Call me now.
You reply to him:
No. You call me
Just like that, your phone rings ten minutes later.
You answer without a word, smirking as you picture him pacing his bedroom, hoodie probably yanked off already, hair still damp, frustrated fingers raking through it.
“Are you out of your mind?!”, he says low
“Hi to you, too”
“You made me hard in front of a hundred thousand people!”, he groans, “Do you have any idea what I looked like trying not to shift in my seat?!”
“Oh, I know exactly what you looked like”, you stretch out on your bed, “Leg twitching, thigh flexed, little pout. The usual”
“Stop”
“Why? You like it”
You listen to his breath turning heavy
“You really said moan” he mutters, disbelieving, “I almost threw my phone across the room. My manager texted me with question marks!”
You laugh softly, “What did he say?”
“‘Was that meant to be public?’” Hyunjin mimics in a mocking voice. Then, he adds lower, “I told him it was improv”
“You’re welcome for the material”
Another pause.
You hear him exhale
“I had to sit still for ten minutes before calling”, he confesses, “I was so hard it hurt”
You bite your lip, “And now?”
“Now I’m on the edge just from hearing your voice”
He sounds wrecked already, like the tension hasn’t left his body since the second you typed that last comment.
“Say something else”
“What do you want?” you murmur, “Something filthy, or something sweet?”
“Something that’ll make me lose it”
You smile into the phone.
“I’m picturing your hand right now”, you whisper, “Fisted in the sheets or wrapped around your cock… I don’t know which, but I know your eyes are fluttering. You’re biting your lip. You’re wishing it was my mouth, aren’t you?”
A strangled sound escapes him, halfway between a groan and a curse.
You go on, just a little devilish
“Bet you keep replaying my comment in your head. Wondering if they could hear it when you moaned for me last night”
“Fuck”, he breathes, “You need to come over. Now”
“Why?”, you tease, “So I can finish what I started?”
“No”, he says, voice shaking, “So I can shut you up with my mouth”
Another silence falls between you.
Then, he adds
“I’m not even touching myself yet. I’m just hard. Just… imagining your voice and trying not to come in my sweats like a desperate loser”
You hum, “Then let me talk you through it”
He groans when you say it. His reply is barely audible, more breath than sound, “Please…”
You hear rustling, clothes shifting, probably the slide of his sweats down his hips. Then another sound— skin on skin, a slow stroke, a long exhale
“God, I’m so hard” he whispers, “Feels like I’ve been edged for hours”
“Is it leaking?”
“Of course it is! You ruined me on live and now you ask like you're innocent!”
You hum, smugly
“Wrap your fingers around the base. Squeeze just a little. Pretend it’s my hand”
“Shit…”
“Slow strokes, baby. I want you aching, want you whining”
His breath catches at that, a soft whimper spilling out before he can stop it.
“I miss your mouth”, he groans, “I’m picturing you on top of me, licking the head, taking me so well and slow and deep… I’d go crazy”
“Good”, you whisper, “Because if I were there, I’d keep my tongue just barely on you. Teasing your tip, watching you twitch, making you beg”
Another needy moan.
“I’m close already”, he confesses, voice shaking, “Your voice is… fuck, it’s too much”
“Then stop”
He freezes, “What?!”
“Take your hand off. I want you desperate”
You hear his breath hitch.
“You’re cruel”
You laugh, “No, baby. I’m careful. You’re not cumming yet. I want it to feel unbearable when you finally do”
He groans, deep and guttural.
“I’m not gonna last if you keep talking like that”
“Then don’t touch. Be good for me”
He breathes hard for a few beats, trying to obey. You can feel the tension even through the call— his thighs probably clenched, abs tight, cock dripping and untouched.
You lower your voice, letting it wrap around him like a spell.
“Tomorrow, I want your knees on the bed and your hands behind your back. I want to see how long you last with nothing but my mouth and my voice. You won’t get to touch me. You’ll be so good, Hyunjin. You’ll cry for it.”
The gasp that leaves him is shattered and helpless
“Please, Yn. I… I can’t. Let me come. Please”
“Not yet”,you murmur, wicked, “Get your toy. The one I bought for you. We’re not done”
You hear the shuffle of him getting up again. You hear his grunt followed by the sound of a drawer opening.
“I hate how fast I knew where it was”, he mutters.
You grin, “No, you love it. Now lie back, be a good boy and put it on”
He huffs— you can feel he is half aroused, half embarrassed.
“You’re so lucky I’m in love with you”
“Oh, baby, you’re not even ready for what I’m going to do when I get there”.
The sound of him gulping fills the silence before you hear a click. Then,a quiet vibration hums through the phone line.
“Fuck… it’s cold”, he gasps, “But it’s… shit… oh my god”
“Feel good?”
“Feels perfect. It’s just barely moving but it’s already driving me insane”
“Great. Now imagine me straddling you, using it on you while I kiss your neck. My lips are right on that spot behind your ear you always twitch for”
He moans— throaty, desperate.
“Keep your hands off”, you warn gently, “I want your hips jerking on their own. I want you to just take it”
He whimpers and the sound shoots heat straight down your core
“‘Jinnie”, you whisper, “I want you so ruined for me that your legs are shaking when I finally ride you”
“I’m already shaking”, he breathes.
The vibrations intensify a little, his breath stutters as the toy pulses against his leaking tip.
“You sound so pretty”, you murmur, “So needy. I could keep you like this for hours. Wet. Hard. Helpless”
“I’m gonna come”, he gasps suddenly.
“No, you’re not”
He groans loud, long and filthy. You can hear the tension in every inch of him, the fight to obey even while his body begs to finish.
“Please, baby… just a little, just let me…”
“No”, you whisper, “Not until I say so”
He cries out again, frustrated and fucked out already, hips twitching as the toy drags him through wave after wave of denied release.
And then softly, broken and breathless he begs again,
“…I can’t wait anymore. I need you”
You smile, voice softening into something sort of indulgent.
“I’m already in the car”
The drive takes just ten minutes. You keep him on the phone the entire time, teasing him with words that drips into his ear like venom.
“Are you still shaking, baby?”
His breath is ragged, “I can’t even think”
“Good. Keep the toy on the lowest setting. Don’t you dare touch yourself”
He groans, completely tortured, “It’s throbbing. I’m so close, just from your voice…”
“Don’t finish, Hyunjin. Not yet. You want me to take over, don’t you?”
“Yes. Please. I want… fuck, I want your hands, your mouth, anything”
You smirk, pulling into the parking lot.
“I’m outside”
He whimpers
“Open the door for me. Don’t cover yourself. I want to see everything”
A pause. Then a resigned, ruined, “You’re actually evil, aren't you”
But he obeys.
When the door opens, he’s wrecked— shirtless, sweats pushed down just far enough to expose the head of his cock, the toy snug against it, humming softly. His hair’s a mess, his lips are parted, skin flushed pink, and his thighs tremble from restraint.
You step inside without a word, setting your bag down slowly as you drink in the sight.
Then, finally you say, “Back on the couch. Hands behind you”
He sinks into the cushions, eyes wide and glassy with lust, trembling as he folds his hands behind him. You sit beside him, trailing one finger over his knee.
“Look at you”, you whisper. “All this from a few comments on your live”
He exhales shakily, jaw clenched, “You knew what you were doing, Yn”
You hum, “And you knew you liked it”
Your hand slides up his thigh, but without touching where he needs you most. Not yet, just light circles, featherlight pressure, making him twitch and groan and beg silently with his eyes.
“You’re going to take your punishment so well, aren’t you?”
He nods frantically, “Please. I’ll do anything. Just, please…”
You lean in, lips brushing the shell of his ear.
“Then ask nicely”
He chokes on a whimper.
“Please let me come. I can’t take it anymore. I want to come for you, please… please, Yn…”
You smile.
“Then lie back for me, babe”
He lies back like you told him, chest rising in shallow bursts, the muscles in his thighs drawn tight from holding back.
“You’ve been so good”, you murmur, kneeling between his legs, “So obedient for me”
“Please”, he whispers, voice cracking, “Please just touch me”
You wrap your fingers around the toy, guiding it in slow circles over his tip, cruel but sweet. His entire body jolts. His head tips back with a strangled moan, hips twitching off the couch.
“Shh” you coo, “you’re almost there”
You finally take the toy off, and his cock slaps against his stomach— red, leaking, aching. He cries out at the loss, desperate now, every inch of him trembling.
Then your hand wraps around him— finally— and he sobs your name.
“You’re gonna come so hard for me”, you whisper, starting to stroke, “You’ve been so good. Just let go, Hyunjin”
His eyes squeeze shut. His mouth falls open. Your pace is steady, slick, punishing, your thumb dragging over the slit with every upward motion.
“Yn… fucj, I’m gonna…”
“Yes”, you whisper, “Come for me. Right now. Show me how much you need me”
He breaks with a loud, shuddering moan— violent, helpless, beautiful. His back arches off the couch as he spills hot across his stomach and your fingers, legs trembling uncontrollably, voice reduced to gasps and half sobs.
But you don’t stop.
You keep stroking, slow and firm.
“W–wait... fuck... Yn!”
His whole body flinches, hands flying up instinctively, trying to push you away but you catch his wrists easily, pinning them against his stomach with one hand.
“No” you whisper, breath hot against his neck, “You don’t get to stop yet. Not after how filthy you were on that live”
He lets out a strangled cry, hips jerking, cock twitching painfully sensitive under your touch.
“Please... oh my god, please.. I can’t, I...”
You kiss his neck, sweet and unhurried, while your hand works him through the overstimulation— his moans breaking, turning into gasps, into high pitched sounds he probably didn’t know he could make.
“Look at you", you whisper, “Shaking so pretty. All for me"
He’s gone. Eyes glassy, voice cracked, body trying to twist away from the unbearable friction even as his cock stays hard like a rock in your grip— needy even after release, aching for mercy.
“Please, baby”, he whines, “It's enough... please, please...”
You finally ease off, hand releasing him slowly, trailing your fingers gently up his stomach.
“Next time you whisper, lips brushing his ear, “you’ll think twice before reading my comments out loud”
He’s still panting when he looks at you, dazed and completely ruined.
“You’re insane” he mumbles.
You grin, brushing his sweaty hair
“Better than my comments on your insta live?”
He lets out a tired laugh.
"I’m never going on live again"

THE WEEKEND HAD started with you lazily scrolling your phone on the couch.
Your A/C blasts loudly like a buzzing bee, and despite the wonderful sun outside you’re spending the summer lounging on your sofa with the same tanktop and short you’ve had on since yesterday.
Your mom’s cooking lunch in the kitchen, having just got back from her morning run with her friends. She’s complained about your inactivity since a week ago, but you’re determined to get your sleep’s worth this summer.
She’s recounting her story of what happened this morning while you listen half heartedly, multitasking chats with your friends and listening to her.
Bored out of your mind, you decide to open facebook for once.
( Yes, I know. But by this point you’ve already opened every other app. )
You follow four accounts. Your mom, your grandparents, and some coffee shop account that you forgot to unfollow after you did so to get their discount.
Out of the four, only the coffee shop and your mom posted in their story. Classic.
You open your mom’s post as she drones about how you should join her next time to get some exercise in and—
Holy shit.
A boy stands beside your mom and her best friend, posing awkwardly with a thumbs up like every child does. His hair was messy and choppy, cut short and dyed silver. He wore black glasses that suited him so well, and his fit was sleeveless, showing his toned biceps well.
Oh—and one more thing you forgot to add:
He’s totally your type.
“[reader], are you listening to me?” Your mom asks from the open kitchen, tone slightly annoyed.
You don’t answer that question.
“Mom, who’s this?” You asked, popping your head up from the sofa and showing her the photo in your phone screen.
She leans over to look, casually wiping her hands on a dishtowel. “Oh! That’s Hyejin’s son. Remember her? My college bestie? They just got back in town.”
You zoom in the screen dramatically. “This guy? This is Riwoo?!”
“Mhm,” she hums, already turning back to stir something in the pan. “Why?”
You blink. Pause. And then blurt out:
“You should hook me up with him.”
Sizzle. That might’ve been the pan. Might’ve also been—you know, your mother’s neurons short-circuiting.?
She turns slowly, eyebrows raised, eyes narrowing like she’s not sure if she should laugh or call a therapist. “I’m sorry—what?”
“I’m serious!” you say, phone still in hand, voice picking up steam. “You always say you want me to meet someone nice. He’s your best friend’s son. This is perfect. We’re basically already destined.”
“Destined?” she repeats, half-laughing.
“Don’t act like this isn’t literally the dream,” you insist, leaping to your feet now, as if ready to go on a one-person campaign. “He’s cute. I’m cute. This is what happens in tv dramas, Mom. This is fate. Just put us in the same room and let God do the rest.”
“Oh, dear,” she mutters, rubbing her temples. “You really haven’t been outside in days.”
“That’s irrelevant,” you say seriously. “Hook. Me. Up.”
She gives you a long look. Then shrugs.
“Alright. I’ll invite Hyejin and Riwoo over for lunch tomorrow.”
You blink. “Wait, you’re serious?”
“Why not? You’re the one asking.” She smirks. “Just don’t wear that pitiful tank top again. And maybe brush your hair this time.”
You clutch your chest dramatically. “Wow. Attacked and saved in the same breath.”
She snorts. “Good luck, drama queen.”
You look back at the photo on your phone. Riwoo, messy-haired and awkwardly smiling with a thumbs-up, suddenly feels like tomorrow’s entire main character.
Oh, you were so gonna bag this introvert.
The doorbell rings exactly at noon.
You’re already at the front door before your mom can even yell for you to get it. You smooth down your outfit one last time—cute but casual, like oh—this old thing? I didn’t spend forty minutes picking it out just to look—you know, effortless.
You open the door, and there he is.
Riwoo stands beside his mom, hands in his pockets, silver-dyed hair messily flopping over his forehead. He’s wearing a black shirt tucked into cargo pants, and glasses that sit slightly crooked on his nose. His smile is small and polite—almost shy. But he looks up, meets your eyes, and the smile turns real. Wide, a little awkward.
Oh, you are so done for.
“Hi,” he says, and then immediately adds, “Wow, um. Your house has…walls.”
You blink. “Huh?”
His mom elbows him.
He clears his throat. “Sorry. That was supposed to be a joke. It sounded better in my head.”
You laugh. Loudly. “No, it was hilarious. I love walls.”
He stares at you like he can’t tell if you’re serious or making fun of him. You grin wider. He flushes.
Behind you, your mom pokes her head out. “You two gonna stand there flirting on the porch, or should I let them in?”
“Mom!” you hiss.
“I’m just saying,” she sings as she turns back into the kitchen.
You step aside and wave Riwoo and his mom in. Your mom and Auntie Hyejin are already deep in conversation before they even make it to the living room.
Riwoo sits carefully on the couch, hands folded like he’s not quite sure what to do with himself. You flop down next to him with all the confidence of someone who’s decided to flirt aggressively until something sticks.
“So,” you start, turning toward him. “How’s life with walls?”
He looks at you, then bites back a laugh. “It’s going great. I’m hoping for a roof next.”
“Oh wow,” you say. “Really moving up in the world.”
He nods, deadpan. “I know. One day I might even get doors.”
You’re both laughing now—his quiet and snorty, yours loud and full. He’s definitely shy, but he’s also surprisingly quick. Dry humor. Dad joke energy.
You already want to know what he’d be like if you got him to relax.
“Anyway,” you say, leaning closer like it’s nothing. “Just so you know, I asked my mom to hook me up with you.”
He goes still. “Wait—what?”
“I saw your Facebook photo,” you confess, totally unbothered. “And I was like, yup. That’s my type. So here we are.”
His ears turn bright red. He stares at you, blinking fast, like he doesn’t know whether to laugh or hide behind a pillow.
“Wow,” he says. “I think you might be the scariest person I’ve ever met.”
You smirk. “You’re welcome.”
Lunch smells like heaven—your mom’s cooking always slaps—but today you barely taste the food. You’re too busy watching Riwoo across the table: how he chews a little too carefully, how he nods politely every time the moms ask him a question, how he nearly chokes on a piece of tofu when your foot accidentally bumps his under the table.
( You pretend it’s accidental. It’s not. )
The meal is mostly filled with chatter—mostly from your mom and Auntie Hyejin, who are seated across from you, gabbing away like they’re still twenty. Meanwhile, Riwoo’s doing his best to quietly chew through a piece of radish without choking, clearly out of his element.
You, on the other hand, are thriving.
“You want more rice?” you ask Riwoo sweetly, holding out the rice scoop.
“I’m okay,” he says quickly, shaking his head.
You scoop some into his bowl anyway. “Eat more. You’ll need strength to survive me later.”
He blinks. “W-what?”
“In Mario Kart,” you clarify with a wink. “What did you think I meant?”
He nearly drops his chopsticks.
Auntie Hyejin turns briefly. “Isn’t it cute? You two used to take baths together when you were toddlers!”
“Mom,” Riwoo groans instantly, face already pink.
You lean your chin into your palm, beaming at him. “Wow. So I’ve already seen you naked and still like you? That’s rare.”
The chopsticks hit his tray this time.
Your mom chokes on her soup and breaks into a fit of laughter, waving her hand in front of her face. “I raised a menace,” she wheezes.
You grin, shameless. Riwoo is beet red and clutching his water like it’s a lifeline.
By the time the moms finally excuse themselves to gossip in the kitchen and leave you two alone in the dining room, Riwoo exhales like he’s just finished a boss battle.
“You really don’t hold back, huh?” he mutters, fiddling with his napkin.
“Why would I?” you say, stretching your arms with a yawn that you may have exaggerated to show off your cute tee. “I’m just giving you the authentic experience. No filters.”
He huffs out a small laugh. “I noticed.”
Ten minutes later, you’re both in your room.
He sits cross-legged on the floor, eyes wide at your game setup. “This is legit.”
“Of course,” you say, tossing him a controller. “If you beat me, I might let you pick the next game. Might.”
“Is there a reward if I win?” he asks, voice teasing but cautious.
You lean closer. “What do you want it to be?”
He chokes again. You love this game.
Character select. You pick your main—unbothered, cocky, grinning. Riwoo’s brow furrows in focus, but he still glances sideways at you every few seconds like you’re more dangerous than the match.
And maybe you are.
“Ready?” you ask.
“No, but let’s do it anyway.”
You dominate the first round, cackling when he accidentally jumps off the stage and screams.
“Wow,” you laugh. “Is this your strategy? Let me win to gain my trust and crush me emotionally later?”
He smiles shyly. “No, this is just me being terrible.”
“Shame. I was into it.”
“Into what? Me losing?!”
“Into you being evil. It’s hot.”
He fumbles the next round so hard he drops the controller off his lap and has to scramble to pick it up.
You fake concern. “Aw, Riwoo. Do I make you nervous?”
He side-eyes you, the corner of his mouth twitching like he’s this close to saying something back. But he doesn’t. Not yet.
So you keep going. “It’s okay. You can admit it. You think I’m hot and terrifying.”
He mutters something under his breath that sounds suspiciously like, “…not wrong.”
You pretend not to hear it—just to let him sweat.
Another round begins. You nudge him gently with your foot. “Don’t hold back on me just ‘cause you like me.”
He finally turns to look at you, really look at you—eyes wide, mouth parted slightly. Then his gaze flicks down to your lips for just a second.
Just a second.
And that’s when he strikes back.
“But if I beat you,” he says suddenly, voice much quieter, “can I ask you for something?”
You pause. “Like what?”
He shrugs, eyes back on the screen. “I don’t know. A second date?”
Your heart jumps clean out of your chest.
He glances over with the tiniest smirk, completely smug at your response.
You gape at him. “Wait—was that flirting? Did you just flirt with me?”
He blinks innocently. “You said I should fight back.”
He laughs. Then adds, voice lower, like he’s not sure he should be saying it but does anyway:
“But it’s also because you’re cute. The way you flirt as well. It’s… cute.”
And that is when your brain stops functioning.
You gape at him. “What?”
He tilts his head. “What?”
“You just—you just called me cute?”
“I mean… yeah?”
You stare. Speechless. Beet red. Like you hadn’t just spent all morning shamelessly hitting on him. Like you weren’t the one who asked your mom to hook you up. Like your entire goal today hadn’t been this exact moment.
He grins, watching your silence. “You okay?”
You clear your throat. “I’m fine. Totally fine. So fine. Shut up.”
He leans back with that same quiet laugh, triumphant.
Suddenly, he’s the flirty one. And you? You’re so flustered, you lose the next round in under forty seconds.
