Favorite color: I’ve been in a blue/green mood lately. I’m renovating my bedroom and those are the colors I’ve chosen to focus on.

Song stuck in my head: Sincerely Me, from Dear Evan Hansen. My girlfriend and I saw it at the theatre last Friday and it was amazing (Finally a decent local version for one of my favorite musicals! I was blown away).

3 favorite foods: Pasta, always. Pizza. Hard to choose a third one. I’ve been eating a lot of Venezuelan food lately, so maybe tequeños or cachapas. I haven’t had breakfast yet, so all I can think about is a cup of coffee and some avocado toast or a cinamonn roll.

Last thing I googled: I was trying to find a travel mug for my girlfriend, so that was the last thing. Before that, it was “glee episodes list” for a side project.

Dream trip: This is a hard one because I haven’t been anywhere, really. I would love to go to New York to see a few musicals and some friends; I want to go to the UK and spend some time in the English countryside. Going to Disney would be so much fun, too. I would eat my way through Italy. I need to go to New Zealand and see The Lord of the Rings film set before I die.

To be a bit more realistic, I’m hoping to spend my next vacation somewhere in the Patagonia. Argentina has some insanely beautiful places. I’m lucky to live here.

god i'm really crying at a donkey kong gif i just miss my sweet friend aditya so much now that he’s moved back to india. this whole summer i would be getting off the subway and just randomly remember he wasn’t in new york anymore and every time it felt like the most crushing blow. even when you don’t see someone there’s a comfort knowing they’re in the same city as you, that the time passes the same where you both are. what i wouldn’t give to be drunkenly giggling with aditya or asleep on alex’s shoulder on the M train wearing a pretty dress and shoes that hurt after some dumb party that i didn’t want to go to in the first place. what i wouldn’t give to get cachapas with laura at 3 in the morning and fall asleep in the same bed while the cat scratches at the door.

“Are you sure you’re comfortable with this?” Fay asked. “The last thing I’d want is for you to get too stressed out.” “It’s fine,” Camilo answered. “This needs to be done and I’m tired of being mad…” Fay had agreed to drive Camilo home with him to see Rheni. After speaking to Sydryn, Camilo couldn’t get it out of his head that he might actually be able to prove Rheni’s paternity finally. It also didn’t feel like their time apart was doing anything for them but making it worse, as they couldn’t clear the air until they had a proper talk. When the car pulled up in the driveway however, Camilo’s stomach turned and he was terrified of the oncoming confrontation. It’s not like Rheni hadn’t reached out; Camilo’s phone had been blowing up for weeks after the break up, but he’d silenced them, and it felt like he couldn’t take that back. Fay rubbed Camilo’s neck. “I know he’s ready to talk to you. The last thing he wants is a fight.” “I know…”

“We can sit here as long as you want.” “No…” Camilo opened the door and got out. “I’m ready.” They got out of the car and headed to the door. Camilo could already see Fay’s herd of children looking through the window watching them come in, all excited. It made him nervous to know he’d have a little one like them soon too. Fay opened the door and Camilo noticed that he didn’t even pull out a key. “You don’t lock your door?” “I do,” Fay stated. “When Otter hears the car, he unlocks it. Not that we really need to lock it… We don’t have neighbours.” It was true, they basically lived in a farm house on a pretty large plot of land, but cars still drove by so anyone could pull if they really wanted to. “Papaaaa!” Katie called as she waddled down the hall to Fay. “Papaaa!” “Ooh, my little kitten.” Fay lifted her up. “Where’s your Daddy?” “There!” She pointed to the stairs. “Taking a nap, is he?” Fay turned back towards Camilo. “With Rheni around, Dari’s had more time to sleep. As unfortunate as the circumstances are, it’s been very helpful having Rheni around. He’s great with the kids.” Camilo nodded silently. “Where is he?” “Kitten, where’s uncle Rheni?” Fay asked his daughter and she pointed to the kitchen. They followed her directions and found Rheni there with the rest of the children drawing. When Otter saw Camilo coming, he smiled and got up off his chair. “Uncle Camilo!” All the children got excited and went to go see Camilo, but Rheni froze in his chair when he heard the name. He put down the crayon he was holding, and turned his head. Camilo was trying to greet all the kids but he looked up and met Rheni’s eye, making him pause. Fay rounded up the children. “Papa wants to talk to you. Let’s go to the living room.” He patted Camilo’s shoulder before escorting the children out. “Hey,” Camilo stated, rubbing his arm. And you should start on that seafood.” At that time, Dari came waddling down the stairs sleepily with Zoe over his shoulder. He saw Camilo in the kitchen and came over. “…Cam? Morning… Or, uh, evening.” “Hi, Dari. How are you?” “Exhausted.” Camilo nodded. “I feel you.” “I’m making salmon tonight,” Rheni stated. Dari shrugged. “Yay. More fish. Can’t get enough fish… Always fish in this family…” He waddle away, clearly too tired to really pay them much mind. Fay came back from the living room and smiled at the pair. “I didn’t hear yelling. I assume it went well.” “Think so…” Camilo smiled. “I’m ready to go though.” “Okay. Let’s go,” Fay said patting his head. omg week number 6 already...

Hi everyone, I’m back once again. Ok so.... I can’t believe we just finished week 6 of Ironhack’s UX UI Bootcamp!! Really time has fled by...

So this week was weird for me, since its a 2-week project I had to slow down and pauso to think and organize myself, I took quite some time to do interviews and organize my findings since there were A LOT of them 😅. I got lucky because I got to interview some interesting people that gave me a lot of good insights! Also this time my “way of working” was different, since I stopped and spent quite some time redacting my statement problem, scenario, business goals, etc. This is something that I tend to rush on and not I don’t really spend a lot of time in....

In the other hand I got to start sketching on Thursday and by today (Friday afternoon) I have the first flow (there are 3 of them 🤯) all done in wireframes, also managed to make my style tile and develop my brand.

I’m proud of myself because tonight I can start the 2nd flow and tomorrow (Saturday) after resting I can start some High-Fi.... Hellena recommended us to start the design report this weekend 💤, and thanks god she said so because otherwise I wouldn’t even think about starting it. 

I’m looking forward to Monday since we have Crits and I want to have feedback from my classmates, since I haven’t shared much.....

PS. I’m happy that I got to choose an awesome team for the last project.

PS2. I think that I’ll die next week of a heat stroke.

PS3. I’m going to eat a Cachapa 🇻🇪 for dinner because I deserve it 🤤.

VENEZUELA WHERE: Pana’s Flavors (delivery/pick up in Raleigh, NC - https://www.facebook.com/depana.flavors.9) (Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/panasflavors/?fbclid=IwAR0mbdeWRYBykKG3pWUr6dFDj0VxJDWhreaI4WGwXJSW70o0cnIsDmlplYM) Before I just thought of Venezuela as the beautiful landscape that was recreated in the movie Up with the 'Paradise Falls' waterfalls and tall cliffs that Carl and Ellie dreamed of traveling to. But now I can say that this country has become one of the most interesting food adventures I've had in a long while.

When I did a Google search for Venezuelan food, a page on the Facebook marketplace popped up called Pana's Flavors. It had no street address which was weird though, but it did give a phone number for which to get in contact with the chef. I started txting the lady, asking where she was and she told me that she did not have a food truck yet but was working on saving up money for one. She cooked out of her home kitchen and explained that she didn't have a license exactly, but the food was really good. I feel that this might have been the point where most people would think it was a bit too sketchy and back out, but damn, the food on her Facebook page looked AMAZING. And the kitchen looked polished, clean, orderly. She was very friendly and gave some great suggestions on what was the most authentic and traditional of the food she cooked.

So despite it feeling a bit like a drug deal, I set up a time to meet her outside of her apartment. She brought the food right out to my car. It was all neatly wrapped and put in two styrofoam restaurant take out boxes. We talked a bit and she explained that she had only been in the country for a few years, but she really was hoping to get that food truck someday. I gave her a big tip, and she tried to explain to me that the food was only $15 and she awkwardly said she didn't have any change. I told her to put the extra money towards the food truck she wanted to get.

As for the food itself, it was all incredibly tasty. I ordered the cachapa with shredded white cheese, Venezuelan cream and shredded beef. It was like a corn pancake stuffed with cream and beef. It almost tasted like cornbread.

I also got a pabellon empanada (white rice, shredded beef, black beans, plantain and shredded white cheese). The paballon that was IN the empanada is Venezuela's National Dish. I think traditionally, it's usually eaten just on a plate by itself. It's basically Venezuela's version of the rice and beans combination found throughout the Caribbean.

All in all, it was a really fun experience. There really should be more people out there as passionate as she was about her home cooking. I really hope her dreams come true!

4. favourite dish specific for your country?

I know ya’ll are waiting for me to say arepas but no... I’m a cachapa kind of person. It’s a sweet corn pancake usually filled with cheese (queso guayanés specifically but it can be all kinds of cheese) and butter. it’s delicious.

I also love fosforera, a seafood soup. it’s named fosforera for the high amount of phosphorous it holds, apparently :P and it sure does hold a lot! it’s red and salty and delicious! it’s often served with slices of lime and mmmm that’s the best

I’m also a slut for fresh oysters with lime. these are served often in beaches and I know they aren’t venezuelan only but it’s an experience I will always relate to my country

9. which of your neighbouring countries would you like to visit most/know best?

I’m a latin american weeaboo which means I would love to go to Colombia or Brazil but honestly? From the bottom of my heart... I want to go to Aruba... Even though venezuelans aren’t liked in there nowadays (implying we’re liked anywhere in our neighbors) I’ve always wanted to go there!   

10. most enjoyable swear word in your native language?

MAMAGUEVO (sic) (can be written differently)

It means like, ball sucker, and I think I like it for two reasons. 1. the sheer power of the word. 2. it’s so stupidly written that I’m always entertained by it (I’ve heard mamagueva before when using female pronouns and it technically doesn’t make sense, but it’s amusing)

15. a saying, joke, or hermetic meme that only people from your country will get?

When you ask someone if they’ve gone anywhere in their holidays or vacations and they didn’t go anywhere special, they will say they went to ‘Playa Seca, Punto Fijo’ to point out that they went nowhere special. There is a place in Venezuela called Punto Fijo, though I’m not 100% sure if Playa Seca is in there. 

16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with?

I ofc hate all the political things we’re related to, god forbid anyone assume every venezuelan thinks like the government. Also, I don’t like the stereotype about latinos drug dealers. I know it’s more common for colombians (and it’s also terrible) but I’ve seen the stereotype attached to venezuelans too.

I can agree with the stereotype that venezuelan women are beautiful :^)

21. if you could send two things from your country into space, what would they be?

This question kind of confuses me... is it a good thing? a bad thing? I’m not sure what I would do tbh, maybe a bag of corn flour and a picture of the caribbean sea hahaha

Mierda (Shit) (Just roll those r’s to your heart content~) and Mamaguevo (Cocksucker) because it flows quite nicely.

God, yes, we have lots. We seen to have a strange tradition/superstition for everything, like, we say that if someone brushes your feet with a broom, you won’t get married, and grandparents have a deadly fear of the ~sereno (the coolness you experience during the evening/night if you go out), and they have a bunch of things about not looking at babies when they’re newly born because of ~mal de ojo and drinking an alcoholic beverage called mistela after the mum gives birth (the family drinks it, not the mum, and they usually offer some of it to the doctors and nurses).

14. do you enjoy your country’s cinema and/or TV?

Not really, no. (Although you should absolutely watch Azul Y No Tan Rosa)
