So while I’ve been slowly getting back to using my computer, I just wanted to get my thoughts out on the Stitch marketing trend I’ve watched boom here over the past year. I never thought I’d say this, but Stitch has become so oversaturated and overblown, money milked and marketed that I’ve just stopped caring for merchandise altogether. I’ve stopped buying anything Stitch related anymore. It’s a shame and it makes me sad.

Years ago Stitch merch used to be a VERY rare treat or find, and I would get so incredibly happy as a hardcore fan to find something to buy from eBay back in the late 2000′s but nowdays it’s just all about the ‘Stay Weird’ factor and making him look as sickeningly ‘cute’ or modern as possible. To me that completely ruins the perception of what Stitch was originally about. I can’t even look at half the merchandise they bring out anymore without cringing. I was so overjoyed when my country started getting on the bandwagon with more Disney merch being introduced into the country since Disney Stores didn’t exist here. When that included Lilo and Stitch merch too I was over the moon, since we got barely anything. But now I see Stitch merch and just sigh. I’m over it. I’m over how they’ve decimated something so special to me and made it only about Stitch.  They’ve cut out Lilo, and instead replaced her non-stop with Angel merchandise. I’m not a fan of Angel and it’s only increased my spite of her. I think the worst was the rebranding too, where it’s only “Stitch” now. Lilo is just side-lined. What is their issue with her? I’m even starting to see merch of the ANIME more marketed than the original! There’s only select few things I like now. I don’t even get happy anymore to see Stitch in the stores now and it just annoys me. Too much of a good thing has ruined it for me and I never thought it would go to this level. Granted I’m still a fan, and I do like the positive attention the franchise is getting, but I can only take so much of literally seeing Stitch’s face shoved into mine everywhere I go. The only time I like the merch now is if it has something Lilo related, or actually focuses on something from the movies, like the concept of Ohana. At this point just give me news on the live action and I’ll be happy!  If you like the amount of Stitch merchandise and marketing they do now, then I’m happy for you! New fans probably feel about it as I did back then... but as a long time senior fan since ‘02 when the merchandise had meaning and even rarity to it, I just wish it had of stayed that way, because those times were something to be fond of. It just seems like the merch now is straight off a production line with no thought involved. Sigh.

About this craft product find, I want to ask anyone who is used to coloring these white vinyl what kind of markers do you use? 

I dont want to use the ‘ones included’ can any one suggest some good ones that would work on vinyl like can I use sharpies on it or nah that's a disaster? I mean even in the sample image Stitch has BLACK eyes  and the pineapple has a GREEN stem, so where did the extra colors come from lol there must be wayss

Well, well. It’s been I while since covered new Lilo & Stitch merch that are being sold here in America.

So yeah, I just took a look at shopDisney recently to find these new eleven-inch plushes of Stitch and Angel...

These are branded as Disney Parks exclusives and they appear to be replacing the Disney Babies as the current Disney Parks-exclusive plushes, since both the Stitch and Angel Disney Babies plushes are sold out on shopDisney.

So now if you want Lilo & Stitch plushes that are as soft yet rugged as your favorite pair of blue jeans, now you have the option to buy a couple!

Lilo & Stitch merch overload

So I just got this email from shopDisney today and it had this GIF:

So I looked at the site’s Lilo & Stitch section, and they weren’t kidding...

Plushies and hoodies and caps, oh my!

Granted, most of the new merch are actually from Disney Parks, but still... That is a lot of Stitch. (And even some Angel and Scrump!)

It’s a lot to go through, and I didn’t include everything that’s new in my GIF, so you’ll have to check the site for yourself if you want to check it out and then mourn the loss of your Stitch wallet’s moolah. That said, there is a deal going on where you can get a discount to help ease the pain, but only if you buy at least some certain dollar amounts worth of items. Especially if you want the 25″ Stitch and Angel plush toys.

(And foot fetishists would probably like those “Big Feet” Stitch and Angel plushies, too.)
