“hey, you wanna get drinks tonight?”

as usual, that’s how it starts.

you probably should have said no. you’d played this game before. you knew exactly what hansol meant when he offered to hang out after band practice, because it was never just “hanging out”.

you don’t even know why you still go to practices anymore. for a long time you’d avoided them; it wasn’t really your style, and you were never interested in being a groupie for their local gigs. your roommate seungcheol always invited you to every practice, and every time you declined with the excuse of homework or other plans, but cheol finally convinced you to come just one time.

at first, it had been because he wanted you to hear a new song they were working on and he’d wanted to know how you liked it before they played it at an upcoming show. but then he’d introduced you to the rest of his bandmates, and after that there was no going back.

you couldn’t help the way your eyes always gravitated towards hansol, who insisted that you call him his real name instead of his stage name that everyone else called him. from the very first practice, you were captivated by him: the way his long fingers seem to dance along the neck of his guitar so effortlessly, the way his voice rasps when he sings, the way your breath catches in your throat when he grips the microphone stand and rolls his head back, lips parted in ecstasy.

he’s addictive, and it’s exactly the reason why you find yourself in the backseat of his car over and over again.

every time, it was easy to pretend that things would be different. you’d walk into the bar together and sit at the table in the back, order a few drinks, chat for a while about nothing. did you like the new stuff we played tonight? yeah, i know cheol is really excited to perform it saturday. you been doing any writing lately? mmm, a little. i’ve been feeling inspired. we could go back to my place and i could show you. except he never does.

hansol wasn’t a bad guy. he always paid for your drinks no matter how many times you offered to pick up the tab, he was polite, he listened to what you had to say. he just didn’t want more than that, and that’s where it all fell apart. you’d screw around for a while, then you’d part ways and wouldn’t speak to each other until next week. you never went to see them play shows, he never texted, you never called, never went on a real date besides meeting in the same bar down the street every thursday night after practice.

he seemed fine with that. you weren’t. and yet every time, you ended up back in his arms.

he groans into your mouth, pushing his hips into you and pinning you harder against the faded leather seats of his old honda. his lips are sloppy but eager, messily pressing his mouth into yours as his fingers tangle in the hair at the base of your neck. you can taste the beer and smoke on his breath, but for some reason it doesn’t bother you. maybe you’re used to it, or maybe it’s just because it’s him. you don’t want to know which reason is the truth.

he kisses you until you’re dizzy, and you can’t tell if it’s from the alcohol or from the thrill of kissing him once again. it’s a high you’re convinced you’ll never get tired of, although you’re not quite sure yet if it’s one that he will.

hansol always lets you set the pace, but tonight he can’t seem to keep his hands to himself. both of your shirts met the floor of his car what seems like hours ago, leaving you in just your pants as he makes out with you as if it’s the first and last time he’ll get that chance. his fingers breeze over your waist the same way they breeze over his guitar strings when he plays: careful yet greedy, each touch intentional yet impulsive as he grips your waist.

he drags his fingers higher and it sends a shiver down your spine, arching your hips up against him and rolling your head back against the seat’s headrest. if there’s only one upside to this relationship, it’s that he’s good at this. really good. if he weren’t, then you wouldn’t have spent so many nights letting him fuck you in the parking lot of your shitty local bar. it does something for your confidence knowing that he must feel the same about you, or else he wouldn’t keep inviting you out. at the very least, this arrangement is mutual, even if you wish it wasn’t.

his hips rock against your crotch again, and even through both of your clothes you can feel how hard he is. your mind is clouded, everything’s a haze, and all you can think about is how badly you want him. the warmth of his skin, the gentle scratch of his nails on the back of your neck, his long eyelashes that flutter against your cheek as he kisses you.

you feel your hands slide haphazardly down his bare chest, fumbling over his hips as you tug on the waistband of his jeans. none of it feels graceful, not like the way he handles his music. it’s sloppy, desperate, clumsy, and it’s everything you need right now.

he manages to lean back from you enough to undo his pants and push them down to his knees, but his mouth is back on yours in an instant. somehow you end up on your back across the seats, gazing up at him with slack lips as his thin silver chain dangles over your face. you might not remember a lot of what happens on these nights when you’re with him, but you’ll always remember this moment. him hovering above you with heavily lidded eyes, biting his lip and cursing as he pushes into you, is etched into your mind in a way you simultaneously love and hate. love because it feels so good, hate because it never lasts.

the rest of those nights never stands out in your memory. you remember feeling good, you remember trembling in his arms and gasping and moaning and crying in pleasure, but the images are too fuzzy to make out. you don’t really need to reflect on them anyway; you know he’ll just bring you out next week and do it all over again.

hansol kisses you once more after you’re both finally spent, but the kisses afterwards are always different. more�� hesitant, more uncertain. none of the passion and desperation that you’ve come to crave from him. not what you really want.

“i can drive you home,” he offers once he’s finished cleaning you up. for once you think he might genuinely mean it, but you can never be sure enough to take that chance. you want him to drive you home. god, you want him to so bad. to have him come over with you and stay the night, stay another night and another until your apartment isn’t just yours anymore, that’s what you’ve wanted all this time. and it’s what you’ll never have.

“i’ll call an uber,” you answer.

“i’ll wait with you, then.”

the silence that settles over his car is heavy as you climb back into the front passenger seat. you want to tell him to get in the uber with you, stay more than just a couple hours with you in the furthest back corner of the bar parking lot that’s too far to be illuminated by streetlights. you want to argue that he’s too drunk even to drive himself, that he needs to come home with you and sleep it off together in the comfort of your bed, but you know it’s not true and it won’t work. this is a conversation you’ve had many times before. every night you’ve spent with him blurs into the next, always the same. 

sometimes you want to laugh at how naive you are, for thinking he’d eventually come to his senses and realize there’s more to you than a good lay before a gig. sometimes you want to grab him and shake him by the shoulders and tell him to grow the fuck up, give him an ultimatum and make him tell you what he wants from you or else put an end to it all. sometimes you just want to cry, to mourn your wasted time when you’re fully aware it’s never going to lead to something more, no matter how badly you want it and how hard you try.

no matter how many times you get your hopes up, no matter how many times you pray and beg and plead with god and the universe and every other higher power to get him to realize this can’t keep going on the way it is forever, nothing ever changes. you’re never going to stop running to him when he calls, and he’s never going to stop calling.

finally another car pulls into the lot, and you manage to pull yourself out of his car. you hear your name behind you and you stumble, swaying on your feet as he rolls down his window.

maybe this time will be different.

he says his usual goodbyes and goodnights, flashing you a loose grin and a wave as his engine sputters to life, and he asks if you’re planning on coming to practice next week. 

and you find yourself nodding.

you’re left standing there, your head and your heart pounding, watching his headlights fade as he drives away, until you’ve stood there for so long that your ride starts honking and calling for you to get in the car so you can leave.

maybe next time will be different.

ellie’s millionth gojo x reader idea

i rly wanna write an au (have sort of already started) where gojo works as a babysitter (idk for why yet, maybe another au where he just really needs the money or something haha) and he starts babysitting yuuji (who is just five years old) and the kid’s an absolute MENACE so gojo is ab to rip his hair off tryna keep an eye on him. and then you’re yuuji’s hot older sister who’s in grad school and is incredibly off limits bc gojo’s so screwed if your mom finds out he has the hots for you n she would kill him (then fire him) if he made a move on you. also did i mention he really needs the money 😔

i’m just picturing gojo not knowing how to cook anything for yuuji other than microwaved dino nuggets and he has to write yuuji’s allergies on the back of his hand w marker so he doesn’t forget he’s only allowed to give the kid almond butter and not peanut butter or else he WILL GO INTO ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK. also he’s always staring at the pics of you that your mom hung up on the fridge (your 4-year uni grad photos) n he knows he’s not supposed to contact you unless it’s an emergency bc you’re a busy woman but he texts you all the time anyways (stupid shit all day like “hey where does yuuji keep his light up sneakers he really wants to wear them to school today” n you’re at your wits end like “…second cabinet from the left”)

for christmas you come down to visit and he’s biting his fist to make sure he doesn’t flirt with you in front of your mom n all your relatives at the table during the family holiday dinner (kiddo yuuji begged for gojo to be invited too) n then things get hot n heavy when gojo goes upstairs to grab something for your mom n he accidentally runs into you changing in your old bedroom n idK I ONLY HAD ONE SENTENCE PLANNED BUT I KEPT TYPING THIS OUT PLS

Why do you write Steddie?

I’ve been a fan of Stranger Things since it came out in 2016 and of course, I fell in love with Steve’s character right away. But never in the show did I think they gave him a good love interest. His relationship with Nancy is obviously a catalyst for a lot of plot devices and it was important to the growth of both of their characters but it naturally had to end. Then…in walks Eddie Munson. I remember watching the forest scene for the first time and little alarm bells went off in my head. They have a great jumping off point of being the big brother figure of these dweeby teenagers, both being older and stuck in Hawkins, both being endearingly lame in their own unique ways but still having that opposites attract energy. Their dynamic was so fun to me, even in the limited scenes that we got, and I finally thought “Yeah. This guy. That’s Steve’s love interest.”

What’s your favorite trope to READ?

I’ll read just about anything if it’s recommended to me or a beloved friend writes it but I have a particular soft spot for future fics. Getting to see these characters grow and heal from what happened to them while also being in love or falling in love really hits home for me.

What’s your favorite trope to WRITE?

I write a lot of AUs for this couple. It seems I love putting my boys into situations lmao BUT I think I adore writing love confessions the most. Like no matter what universe they’re in, they’re going to have this realization of love and it’s going to just pour out of them.

What’s your favorite Steddie fic?

My 252 bookmarks are shaking in their boots at this question so I’m going to shout out just a few! Is there a trope you’re excited to explore in a future work but haven’t yet?

I would love to explore a Monster AU. I’ve technically written Kas!Eddie but I’d love to explore something more like demon/creature/werewolf SOMETHING because I always find those stories so interesting.

What is your writing process like?

It usually starts with like one line or one idea that I hurriedly jot down in my notes app or in a new document. Then, I find songs that relate to that premise or scenes from other media that help inspire me. Usually, I plan it out bullet point style in a physical notebook and then start writing bit by bit!

Do you have any writing quirks?

Somehow making everything cultivate into something sexual lmao. It;s now a joke amongst me and my friends that I can always make something horny. But really, I love what can be discovered, what can be said, what can be revealed, and what can change a character throughout a sexual scene. Not every fic I write has smut in it but a vast majority do and it’s because I love getting to use smut as a tool for something else.

Do you prefer posting when you’ve finished writing or on a schedule?

Definitely once I’ve finished something. When I was first starting out, I posted chapters for long fics as soon as they were done and that led to me abandoning fics because I simply ran out of spoons to write them. Now, I’m much more conscious of what I’m putting out there and making sure it’s completed before I start posting. I might make personal schedules for myself but I very rarely stick to them lmao.

Which fic are you most proud of?

Definitely my zombie apocalypse series “the darkest hour is just before dawn”. Those fics came together in a matter of a few weeks and I just loved being able to dive into each of those couples (the spicy six) and figure out how they would react differently to their circumstance. It started with me picturing Eddie with a southern accent but only when he’s stressed, angry, or drunk. What’s more stressful than a zombie apocalypse?

How did you get the idea for get up and shake the glitter off your clothes?

The song “Waking Up in Vegas” by Katy Perry came up on shuffle and my brain said “Oh, there’s something here.” It started as just a blurb of Steve waking up extremely hungover, noticing Eddie’s in bed with him, and then seeing Eddie’s mood ring on his left ring finger in a hotel mirror. I posted that blurb just to Tumblr and my brain just kept thinking about it and now it’s a whole fic!

When writing you make my life worthwhile (it's all about you), what was something you didn’t expect?

That it is so, so hard to write breakup fics. Because you never want one of them to be “the bad guy” or to be toxic in a way that leads to heartbreak. I struggled with shaping the narrative in a way that you could understand the hurt from both sides but I’m really happy with how it turned out (them making up of course!!)

What inspired you make my life worthwhile (it's all about you)?

It was 100% my days being in the 5 Seconds of Summer fandom when I was a teenager. I remember having to defend that band to people, saying “It’s not a boy band! They all play instruments! They’re just a band!” but now I can see how their marketing was catered to teenage girls and how that led so many people to believing they were similar to One Direction. The first thing that came to mind was Eddie having to fight for his music to be taken seriously and that spawned this idea of him, Steve, Argyle, and Jonathan being in a similar band and Eddie wanting out.

What was your favorite part to write from wanna be the only one for miles and miles (except for maybe you)?

I’m a sucker for wound care so writing Steve sitting a grumpy Eddie down to tend to his wounds with kisses and jokes was a lot of fun!! I’m also a cowboy enthusiast so that AU was a hoot and a half for me all around.

How do/did you feel writing the seventh heaven (when i kissed the teacher)?

MUSHY. Mushy as all get out. I love, love, love writing Steddie with kids. I just think there is so much domesticity and softness to kid fics, especially if a character is a single parent. I was seriously a pile of mush writing that fic and making them all lovey dovey.

What was the most difficult part of writing shake this world off my shoulders?

Candidly, it was figuring out how they were supposed to be alone so they could have sex. They’re always traveling as one big group, sleeping in unconventional places, and taking turns being on watch. Finding a realistic setting and a realistic circumstance was very difficult!

Do you have a favorite scene and/or line from any of your fics?

It’s hard to choose just one but I do think about this passage a lot from hey now, don’t dream it’s over: “Because even if Steve didn’t think he’d get this far. Even if he thought he wouldn’t see 21 let alone 30. Wouldn’t keep in touch and love with all his heart a gang of misfits from Hawkins. Wouldn’t fall in love with a wonderfully crazy man and adopt two beautiful girls with him. Wouldn’t be held when he cried or celebrated when he smiled. Wouldn’t wake up each morning and wipe sticky faces, talk high school seniors through college doubts and fears, wave his hand through the wind out his car window listening to pop radio in Chicago traffic, scoop mac and cheese onto Disney-themed plates, get kisses from his partner that make his kids groan, hear about their days, all their imaginations, their creativity, and everything they love and hate about the world, bath time every night, putting their hair in soapy mohawks, hearing their bright giggles, and tucking them into bed. Ending up in bed with the one person he loves more than anything just to wake up and do it all over again. He never, ever thought he would actually get this. But he did and he loves it. He doesn’t want to feel guilty for loving it anymore. He pulls away from Eddie’s neck and just beams at him. Eddie, who is more or less confused by the range of emotions he’s sporting, smiles right back at him. Steve kisses him deeply and feels Eddie wipe away his tears throughout their kiss. Steve Harrington is thirty years old and is enamored with the very thought of it.”

Do you have any upcoming projects or fics you’d like to share/promote?

Nothing huge in the works right now! Mostly just waiting for inspiration to strike again.

Just that this fandom has changed my life in immeasurable ways. I am so happy that this community exists and the various types of showstopping art I get to engage with because of this show. I have made some of my very best friends in this fandom and I wouldn’t change that for the world. So @/tirkras (don't want to annoy them with a mention) has an AU called 'The perfect vessel' (go check it out) which I've seen bits and bobs around (haven't seen it fully + they write in Cyrillic so don't understand it-) and the parts I saw gave me inspirations for a basic start of an AU. (Idk how close it is to their AU, I just want some soft Uzi and Doll being siblings)

 - Dolls and Uzi has gone through a lot due to the Solver, and both their mothers were harsh/not the best of parent. They are cousins technically and both were maybe used to make an host for the Solver, and/or forced to train hard and pushed to their limits to use/control those powers.

- both had pretty absent fathers.

- both had pretty cold mothers.

- For reasons (idk yet), they both lost their parents and for the most part, growing up and living together like siblings. (Maybe they are the cause of their death, maybe it's murder drones, who knows)

- Both of them speaks Russian naturally (Nori and Yeva being sisters in this AU), but most drones in the colony doesn't understand the language, so they only speak it privately or when they don't want to be listened on.

Headcanons about this:

- Solver being an ass, they definitely both needs to drink Oil and helps one another, especially with the killings and scrubbing off evidences.

- Cannibalism!!! Yay!!!

- or is it? Let's just say, if you cut them, it's not Oil that they bleed :)

- I like to think Doll doesn't really clean after herself in general, but Uzi does keep their house/apartment clean begrudgingly.

- can see some siblings and fluff, like Doll bringing Lizzy over and Uzi teasing the loving shit out of her for bringing a 'girlfriend' over x3 (telling her stuff in Russian like 'Don't get too loud tonight~' and 'Don't forget to put a sock on your doorknob so I don't walk in on you two~')

- I think Uzi's bullying would be lighter, especially with Doll around. I mean, Doll would call Uzi a nerd/dork/freak but in a siblings way + Doll has less of an hard time making friends/manipulating people into leaving Uzi alone. Also, with an Uzi that is more fine with murder/cannibalism to get oil, I'm sure if one goes too far against her, they'll find their days numbered x3

- Uzi is pretty smart technology wise and definitely would use that to her advantage, hacking into the overall colony systems often, especially to scrub camera footages.

- their smarts combined, they could be up to some pretty big schemes. Like if they were robbing a bank, they would do it so cleanly x3

- I wonder how they would use robo-roaches, maybe more little spies and long distance communication ?

Can't think of anything else about this. Idk where to go with it or what to do ngl, it's just something fun right now. Don't have a twist or overarching plot, don't even know how to insert the Disassembler Drones crew at all.

I don't claim this AU because of how close I think it is to Tirkras 's, if you have other ideas, inspirations, headcanons or wanna do anything related to this, just do it, I don't fuckin mind.

I didnt realize you have a tumblr thats amazing!! I just wanted to say beating about the bush is one of my most favorite fics ever and thank you for writing it!!!! I reread it constantly and the writing is soooooo funny and i think that fic is what truly got me into revalink. Ince again, ty for writing and if you ever continue it i can die happy

THAT'S SO COOL AND HUMBLING. If you are reading this and like revalink I mean YOU) I'm rambling XD I'm so excited to be off twitter and somewhere where I can type without word limits that I am ABUSING IT. Anywhoo yeah! I've been having a LOT of beating about the bush and youtubers au thoughts recently. I think about them every night when I go to bed. I really want to get back into writing BATB but I'm so rusty, but I have serious plans to!

BATB was always very special to me because I usually try to write stuff I think people 'want to read' but BATB was something that started off being 'I'm doing this for me. I'm not holding myself to standards of quality, I'm just going to have fun' and then people ended up really vibing with it!

It was definitely also my 'wish fufillment fic' Escapism into a small town surrounded by nature, being friends with all your neighbours that are so close you can just walk over to their house. I'm a geoscientist and I LOVE feildwork. A lot of my friends go off every summer in small Revali-type private planes to work in the Northern Canadian wilderness and I'm GREEN with envy so a bit of that is in there too fkjgn.

PLUS REVALI's ACREAGE. UG. My prof had an acreage he filled with all of his favourite things. a house for cats, a house for dogs, a-barn-renovated-into-a-home-gym. I thought 'that is the LIFE' and immediately took inspo giving revali an acreage to fill with all his fav things.

What’s a headcanon you can’t stop thinking about? i have a very specific headcanon for a tattoo ian gets post-canon for mickey, and i hesitate to even explain it now bc i think one day i do wanna write a fic about him getting it, but whatever--my headcanon is that he gets an M tattooed on his left ring finger and it's a subtle yet sweet nod to his husband. (i could talk about this for 9 hours but i will limit myself and stop here)

What’s a fanart you love looking at? i've spent an obscene amount of time staring at this fanart by @doodlevich it just checks all my boxes (domestic, husbands, fluff, etc.) and it's so well done, i'm obsessed with this pieces

What’s an idea you’d love to create if you had the time/inspiration? listen, i have this idea for a rock band au that lives rent fucking free in my head, and if i can find the time and the inspiration to actually turn these vibes and unorganized plot points into actual words and a coherent story in the new year, then maybe it'll see the light of day in 2024 but no promises. for now, i leave you with this: four milkovich siblings are in a rock band that is rising to success with the launch of their second studio album and subsequent tour, and ian gallagher is lead singer mandy's (fake) boyfriend--at least in the eyes of the public--and he spends some time that summer touring with the band and hooking up with their lead guitarist in secret until the band's manager/father catches wind of what's going on behind closed doors

Lloyd and Morro cousin Headcanons because I can't not do it. (I.e I read some Greencousin Fics and they have me by a chokehold.)

All of these would take place a while after Crystalized btw, in an AU where Morro ends up a human again after Crystalized. (I wanna write sum this ngl)

Morro kept asking Lloyd about modern inventions bc he didn't really have time to acknowledge it when he possessed Lloyd in Possession. He was kinda mix of both Acronix and Krux when it came to how he reacted to technology.

At first, Morro and Lloyd were kinda closed off from one another, and they kinda "ignored" each other, otherwise bantering (Morro more so than Lloyd), but they slowly started to realize that they had more in common than they realized after a few arguments, (And a ton of angsty trauma. A ton 🥲) And Thier bond built from there. Now, they are practically inseparable.

Morro doesn't want to be the green ninja anymore. He's seen how much pressure Lloyd is under, and he totally understands that he could've never handled it. He had just thought it was fame and being worth something, especially after so long of being worth nothing. When he was denied being the green ninja, he thought it meant he wasn't worth anything anymore. That's why he'd worked so hard for it in the first place. He wanted to be worth something. He also really doesn't...care...that much anymore?

Morro still has Aquaphobia (not Hydrophobia, as that's actually a different term than "fear or phobia of water.)

Lloyd still gets Morro flashbacks and nightmares. Lloyd usually hides them from Morro, since he doesn't want his cousin to worry. Morro has noticed though.

Morro no longer has the little markings on his face, as that was only there when he was a ghost. He does have a small green scar under his eye like Cole did, and it will most likely be there longer than Cole's was. (Potentially the rest of his life)

Morro's nicknames are forever "Emo-boy" and "green wanna-bean" XD-

Morro still has a really tough time with handling objects and handling the upkeep of his mortal body. (He'll forget to eat and drink, drop cups from time to time, bump into a door or wall, freak out from a stray drop of water, ect.)

Going with the previous one, when Morro first ended up human, he had a hard time even eating food, since he hadn't been human for a long time. (Sensory issue based, since it was too overwhelming for certain tastes or textures because of that)

Morro and Lloyd are StubbornCousins™. They are the most stubbornest of cousins.

Morro actually hated it when he was brought back to life by the Crystal King. He hated destiny constantly toying with him and just wished that they would put him to rest for FSM's sake.

He decided to lay low for a while, until they caught Lloyd. He then tried to get Lloyd out, and escaped with him.

Morro has sensory sensitivities. Like, severe ones. It's taking him a lot of time to actually get used to his human body, as his ghost body didn't do all that.

Morro and Kai still somewhat dislike each other. Kai is protective over his lil bro and doesn't really trust Morro all that much. Morro is still slightly closed off towards him, but he gets that Kai is the overprotective sibling. They grow to tolerate each other, and eventually bond somewhat.

Morro, after everything that he did wrong, feels really guilty for it in all honesty. Oh FSM he was such an idiot. Nowadays, he does everything he can to make it up to Lloyd.

Morro does infact swear. He tries to limit it though.

Morro actually has never had things like Pizza before and more modern foods. The ninja are constantly surprised by what he'll be confused by next.

Lloyd actually can do things like hot-wiring a car. He was taught at Darkley's, unsurprisingly. (Inspired by Captain Bookworm's Land of the Living Fic)

They throw banter around. Like a lot. Especially when they met after Morro became human again.

Morro actually came back during Crystalized. The Crystal King wanted to use him along with Harumi, but Morro "agreed" long enough to earn their trust. He wanted to help the ninja since he hated the Overlord, and ended up helping Lloyd, much to the Green Ninja's surprise. He also saw through the Crystal King's lie faster than Harumi ever did. He knew that the Crystal King would only keep him around for as long as he was needed, so any promises the King made was void.

Lloyd has two little fangs and no one can change my mind.

Morro's right eye is his normal eye color (dark olive green), while his left (the one with the ghost scar under it) is paler.

i personally think he's making an archive of information on aus cuz he took it upon himself to write an active history or something about aus and whatnot, which he started first as a way to track ink and errors patterns in order to work around them, but then kept up doing because he realized that half of the aus that he's written books about with information on them, a bunch of them dont exist anymore and he's got records of them, and now it's his pet project, recording information and studying aus, like some kinda historian

which would also give some kinda. insight to like. why he sends the boys on missions to recon places and look about for certain things, and would also give a reason why he sends cross out on those kinds of missions the most because cross gives more detail than just "yeah i couldn't find it haha anyways i stabbed a guy"

You see, in Latin Spanish, the Saints and Saint Pope were changed to "Knights and the Great Patriarch" so both situations can be interesting. Ahh! Well that be glad for I also love talking about this au! And I have some many questions!

So Mihawk activates armament on their way out? Any chance, since he doesn’t know how armament works, he uses it in such a way that it’s like, well shit, I don’t know enough about armament to say that can't work, and then he does something fucking crazy with it? Like how Sanji lights himself on fire or Zoro creates several other body parts? Like it’s an extension of your will—why should it be limited when your ambition isn’t?

Thoughts on tattoos? The boys could get them to cover up scars or other forced tattoos or brands. Also, will Mihawk dress less exposed in this AU? Maybe in the beginning of their escape, slightly ashamed of his scars, a bit self-conscious or at people looking at his body, developed body dysphoria from all the torture--the scars could trigger memories maybe? Maybe as they heal more slowly, he starts to stop covering up as much as he does? I don't know. Shanks would be just as much of a disaster when it comes to clothes as his older counterpart, and you know, for those first few years of freedom and being able to wear whatever they want, they'd either A. Freak out over all the choices now that they have them. Or B. Wear some of the most outlandish stuff, which from One Piece probably makes everyone shrug and go, "Yeah, they can slaughter a whole Marine base without breaking a sweat; we don’t give a shit what they wear." I still want to write/draw Shanks clothes covered in Mihawks embroidery projects though.

Oh yeah, wanna bet about how absolutely terrifying and confusing freedom is for them once they get out? For two years, they had a routine, had their life structured, and even if it was horrible, it was a predictable type of horrible. Do you think they sometimes lie awake at night wishing they could go back and then hating themselves for thinking it? And are absolutely confused with stuff like shopping and human interaction that’s beyond fighting, faked complacency, and/or trauma-bound?

Do they freak out grocery shopping and walking in a crowd? Does Mihawk forget how to act human, and all the refined intricacies that are no longer muscle memory? Does Shanks refuse to talk to anybody who isn’t Mihawk for a good long while? Like if he talked to anyone else, it was probably interrogation or something worse? Are they confused by normal everyday things that they used to understand, but now it just doesn't make sense? Do they do things in public or around people that were fine when captured but are completely faux pas or uncomfortable to see in public?

Anyway, healing sucks, and learning to rejoin society and not try to kill everyone who so much as looks at you wrong will probably take a long time for them, like a soldier rejoining from the army or an inmate getting out of prison. And I've read and watched a lot of interviews from soldiers and former prisoners, and one of the things you can spot after you get out is another prisoner or soldier. Do you think the Loguetown kidnapped can just spot each other across a crowded room? Can they just look and go, "Yeah, them. I know that general vibe?"

Are their conversations then from their perspective reminiscing while everyone else is like, "Uhh, that's torture, you all were tortured? And your wistfully looking off into the sunset thinking about it?”

Like a conversation can go— "And man, food, Oda Christ! When we first got out and I had a peach again, I thought I'd fucking die, man. But then, sometimes, it's like the food is too much? You know what I mean? Like too much flavor and color and choices and health and shit? Like, we can't just eat chocolate all the time, and while gruel was disgusting, it at least kept us in top shape, ya know?"

"Oh my god, man, I totally get it. Sometimes I'll just be sitting, wondering why I'm hungry, and then remember, 'Oh yeah, I actually have to make my food now,' and like, food is just so much, man. I miss the gruel sometimes." And everyone, like staring at them, talking about getting their teeth pulled out like it was the good old times and not deeply horrifying.

Keep 'em coming, lol! Both Mihawk and Shanks discover their full haki while escaping/shortly after escaping. There's some amount of discourse on this, but I'm planning for Mihawk to use his Armament haki to turn Yoru black. Or more black. Haki (and armament haki's black color )wasn't a thing yet when Yoru was shown to be black, so Yoru is technically a black blade with no influence of haki, but shhhh, I do what I want. We also know Yoru is one of the twelve supreme grade blades, among which Roger's blade, Ace, is one of, so a big thing is that Mihawk takes Yoru from the marines, because Marines had rounded up as many of the twelve blades as they could. As far as doing improbable feats with Armament Haki, Mihawk does, because at that point, he's desperate enough to. And so does Shanks with his. And while we're peaking of tattoos...armament-black imprints from Mihawk grabbing Shanks to protect him, anyone? (Yes, I know that's not how it works. I can get a pass here.) Tattoos are always a draw. What they'd actually be of is really interesting to think about. I think they'd dress as close as possible to the way they did before their capture, because it's a way of maintaining control/grasping at their former selves. But of course, there will be be the aspect of a security blanket, so while the style remains the same, their clothes become armor. (Mihawk does wear high-collared vampire shirts for quite a while, though. And he won't be found without his coat.) They'll be more structured and ornate, meant to project status and stop people dead in their tracks. i.e Mihawk gets his hat, his coats are fully embroidered and embossed/beaded and have gold hardwear, he wears gold jewellery. Shanks takes to wearing long heavy leather cloaks he can wrap himself fully in, flowing red silk sashes. Silk shirts too. Real shoes. Mihawk embroiders everything of his. All those patterns canon Shanks wears? Loguetown Shanks wears Mihawk's patterns. Dripping bloody red flowers and gold filigree everywhere. Oh, it would be. During the times when they are fighting/unable to be around each other because of their recovery, they would think that. Too, they both secretly expected the other to be the one who would survive. They'd never thought it probable that they'd both be free again. And now they are, and they are dealing with it, and they can't. pt.2 coming up

hi! if i may ask, do you have any advice on transposing (?) characters in AUs? i have one i wanna write but i get overwhelmed by stuff i feel like i have to account for, like a character's allegiance, combat ability, traumatic experiences, place of birth, music knowledge, relationships with other characters from that universe waughg. for example, writing Mobius in a position not limited by Elysia, but because she's on a guy's shitlist (he denies it, but he's on her shitlist too, it's mutual)

Hmmm I’m not sure what you mean on that last part (especially since Mobius is hardly limited to Elysia in canon? She has a lot of complex relationships, including negative ones?) BUT I guess start by just. Writing something.

Let me explain. You are overthinking the backstory part. So get some part of the actual story you want to tell down, even if it’s just one scene, and see how you feel.

You don’t have to know everything before you start writing, your best ideas will come up as you go. If you are really into those details and it turns out you’d rather tell the backstory of the characters— that’s actually perfectly fine! I did that in vampire AU via the flashback sections, but you could also just make it the entire plot if you wanted, you are free…

But a story is made of scenes, not background details. So it is more important to write something down than knowing everything you’ll have to take into account for the AU to make perfect sense.

Having said that, I’ll answer the question you actually asked!

To get less overwhelmed when thinking up backstories, think of your AU’s plot. You’re writing a story, not a TV Tropes page— those details must serve the story you are writing. Not everything is all that important, and what you decide is important should be chosen to reinforce your message, make your story more solid or interesting, etc. Characters and their backstories are tools!

Additionally, since you’re writing existing characters into an AU, study the original characters. Know who they are. It will be much easier to write them naturally, without having to think of those AU-specific details ahead of time.

Let’s put both previous points into action.

If you’re telling a story about freedom, you can focus on how Mobius chooses to let her creations have free will, and encourages them to follow their own paths, regardless of whether they will side with her or not. For this to be important to her, she probably feels that she lacks freedom— in her canon backstory it could be because her ideas are widely rejected and she has trouble accomplishing her goals because of it.

Even if in your AU she doesn’t have a lab or an apocalypse to study, this core idea isn’t hard to apply to something else. In a random High School AU it could be that she has controlling foster parents after her dad died, for example, or there are situations where being a minor results in a lack of agency that forces her into undesirable situations. The possibilities are endless! Core character concepts are not tied to specific circumstances, which is what makes them transposable.

Also it’s easier for both you and the reader to just use what’s already there as much as possible. For you that means they’ll be easier to keep in character, and for the reader it’s familiar context (or they learn something new about a character thanks to you).

Mobius’s music knowledge? Well she claims music is just noise, but she feels touched by Eden’s last song. So she doesn’t seem interesting by music unless she has a personal connection to it. That’s perfectly transposable.

Elysia on the other hand, she’s the type to listen to Eden, and she likes dancing, but she doesn’t seem to be the overly academic type. Canon Elysia doesn’t seem to play an instrument either. She probably knows plenty of popular songs, dancing songs, and songs that Eden has sung to her or talked about, but not more than what Eden told her about music theory. That’s also transposable.

But! Remember, details must serve your story. If you’re writing a story about a band, you can take those above points, keep them, and then give the characters a twist.

Perhaps Mobius CLAIMS she hates music but she actually finds singing soothing, so she sings in secret. Perhaps Elysia loves listening to music, so she decided to try and learn an instrument. By combining what your characters are like and what your AU needs, you get a unique, interesting result that readers will be curious about.

Now for entirely “new” things, well. If you have lots of new characters to introduce to existing ones, you could just take an hour and make a relationship chart. Just one hour. Not days. Set an alarm up. You can change it later, but limiting the time you spend will help you feel less overwhelmed.

If you are wondering about a detail canon doesn’t talk about and feel lost, worry about when it’s relevant, and when it is relevant pick what makes what comes next most interesting.

Say that your characters are visiting a new town, and start talking about how different it is to their home town— wouldn’t it be most fun if someone dropped “actually, I was born here”, and became the character to give them a tour or know more than others about the place? That way you can mix worldbuilding and plot seamlessly!

I think that should be enough to get you unstuck. I hope my advice will be helpful.

Just remember one last thing: Your story must be something you enjoy writing, not something that will be a “good final product.” Make sure to have fun, okay? ^^

chubby!fem!reader fake dating au [seokmin] - college au. reader has never dated before and asks seokmin if he'll go on a date or two with her just to help her get over the scary 'first time going on a date' feelings. he turns her down because fucking up is kind of part of the experience, but ends up agreeing to it after he lies and says he's dating reader to get someone who won't take no for an answer off his back. they agree to fake date until after reader's cousin's wedding... and u kno the drill w fake dating!! these bitches start falling for each other!!!

Oh boy, so I have a few different things. Currently, a couple of longfics that are written from different characters and POVs (one in 1st, another in 3rd limited). A lot of my works tend to tiptoe around angst and might be heavy reads. If you want the lightest possible smack with the angst bat, Two of Swords or A Small Victory would probably be best. If you wanna go full-tilt on the angst bat with some idiot slow-burning forever, Broken Bird. This is the first-person POV fic that I'm writing. 10. If we're talking about creating new things, I don't generally get ideas I want to write all that often, or if I do, they go in my notes folder. From there, if I have the time, I pick something that's enticing or that I've been itching to read myself (or just wont leave me the hell alone) and go from there. As to deciding which of my ongoing projects to work on, it honestly depends on the headspace I'm in. I prioritize my longfics over any shorter pieces because I want to finish those. Ultimately, I decide based on what I feel like writing at that moment. 16. I once read an AU in which the events that started Dragon Age: Inquisition (i.e. the Conclave blowing up) never happened. While the fic itself didn't delve too far into that aspect and instead explored something else, I think it sets up a lot of "well what now?" types of scenarios. I'd also be incredibly interested in an AU in which one or more characters comes back from the dead, basically, but they come back...wrong somehow, and can't or won't articulate that to people around them. 33. My written chapter lengths have been anywhere from 2.7k to 8k, but generally I try to hit between 4-5k. Generally speaking, I prefer to read the same length (4-5k), however, if I'm enjoying the story enough, I will read almost any length. I just might need a break depending on the length.

Hey, thanks for asking :)

This is gonna be a long ass answer so strap in lol. I’m not done with writing at all, or at least I don’t want to be done. There is still so much I want to say and get out there that I want to share with you guys. I still have so many WIPs and I’d preferably like to finish them before I die lmao even if you have to wait 40 years. Ik I’m kind of on a hiatus rn as far as writing goes (or at least writing for catfish anyway) but actually I am still writing behind the scenes. I do try and add to WIPs and chapters and I’m still having so many ideas. But it’s a long slow process and I just never feel like I can get these WIPs to a good enough standard to post them, or find the motivation/inspiration to finish them. You have no idea how much I’d love to continue Tyrants and the things in my head I have planned for it, but I’m just finding it super difficult and I feel awful for kind of abandoning you guys and abandoning all these projects for months at a time. I mean hell some of my fics haven’t been updated for at least a year. Maybe I need to bring back WIP weekends, if that’s smth you guys would like?

So to answer your first question, no I’m not done and yes I absolutely would love to come back to it when I’m in a better place. I’m also super super busy rn with final exams coming up and I’m starting uni in a few months too so lots of preparation going into that as I’m moving into an entirely new city. I’m just super tired all the time and I really do not write well when I’m tired I have all these thoughts but I get two sentences in and I’m out like a light.

To answer your second question, I truly don’t know tbh my fandoms have changed so much since I started this acc there’s so many people I would have loved/would still love to write for but I feel like obviously I have followers from a specific target audience it’s very hard to move into something else. Like I don’t wanna make people unhappy by writing other stuff yk? Basically I just don’t know what sort of reaction my writing will get (I mean the interaction on my fics are already bad as it is, I dread to think what it would be like if I posted something that appeals to absolutely none of my followers lol).

Ik I said I’d write some Stranger Things stuff and I actually have been! I’ve written a good chunk of the first chapter of a series I wanted to start, but again I just struggle to find inspiration anymore to finish it, but once I do I’m really really excited for people to see it. I’m still really into britpop too and I’m sure some of my mutuals absolutely wouldn’t object if I wrote about damon 😂 but I’ve just never really committed to getting any ideas down in writing yk? But I also kind of wanna move away from rpf sort of only because I find it kind of limiting with what you can do because there’s like an unspoken line you shouldn’t cross yk? Whereas fictional characters can kind of have endless possibilities. Especially ones that have their own universes and rules etc. And ik there’s nothing stopping me from writing AUs cause I’ve done several but idk it’s just not really quite the same. I kind of struggle with making original characters too which is not a handy weakness at all when writing series.

But ya then there’s the part of me that’s like hm I would’ve liked to have done some resdogs stuff, some bullet train stuff cause god knows there’s not enough fics of my fave films out there it would just be purely self indulgent tho.

but I also have like Leon Kennedy brainrot and my mate’s just gotten me on the mf wilbur soot/mcyt hype train which is a whole other can of worms I won’t get into in this post

But obviously I won’t do any of that until I finish all my old WIPs and requests for catfish, inhaler and Sam 💀💀

Hi I'm heliodor on ao3. I mostly write jjba fics these days though I do enjoy other fandoms.

I don't reblog a whole lot. I mostly use this place for gathering thoughts that I don't put in author notes and trying to keep myself organized since I no longer use google docs due to their AI controversy. I might start posting early/unfinished drafts that don't make it to ao3 here, but we'll see how I feel about that.
