Christmas with the 7+ as a child of hades reader?
:) love you guys!
Christmas 2021 Masterlist
A/N: My turn to write the big events!! Hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did writing them :)
Dec. 25th: Have yourself a demi-little Christmas (Platonic!GN!Reader)
Words: 1,195
Warnings: snowfight, hugs and kisses ig
Your first thought as soon as your eyes opened was ‘Dear gods, the planning is over— Thank Hermes.’
Don’t get it twisted, you love special days at camp and you love having excuses to hang out with your friends, but boy is it tired! At least now you get to enjoy the day without your mind drifting to more scheduling and buying presents...
As soon as you got out of bed you accidentally kicked the presents your siblings left there for you, you took your time to open each one.
“Oh, there you are!” Will spoke from the front door of your cabin, only his head was inside, the rest of his body out of the room but you could see he was clearly wearing winter clothes. “It’s snowing, so you might wanna use something warmer than your pj’s.”
“Got it,” You grinned at him. “I’ll be out in a moment.”
So you got dressed and got out of your cabin ready to meet your friends. Leo was the first to welcome you with a snowball that landed a few inches away from your face.
“Hey, I wasn’t ready!” You complained.
“As a demigod, you should always be ready,” He raised a brow, a tone of obvious teasing in his voice. “You’ve been around for ages, Y/N, you should have a better—”
His phrase got interrupted by the harsh snowball that Nico threw right at the back of his head, the young boy smirked at nodded at you.
“You’re welcome,” He said.
“Thanks, Neeks,” You chuckled.
Having an empty stomach, you decided to leave behind the snowfight and walk towards the pavilion, there you found Jason and Piper chatting with Annabeth and Frank.
“Morning!” You called out, the trio turned to wave at you.
“Did Leo try to kill you as soon as you walked out of your cabin?” Piper questioned.
“Yeah, but the dumbass failed miserably.”
“He got me,” Jason scrunched up his —slightly swollen and very red— nose.
“Sorry to hear that,” You said with a tiny smile. “Where’s Thalia?”
“She’s gone to wake up the rest of the hunters,” The blond boy pointed back to the cabins.
“What about Hazel?”
“She’s with Percy and Grover, they called Tyson to wish him a happy Christmas and Hazel wanted to check on camp Jupiter,” Frank explained.
“Cool, are you guys having a nice morning?” You asked as you sat next to Annabeth and grabbed a plate from the pile.
“It’s been nice,” Jason shrugged. “Red nose aside, of course.”
“We should schedule a snowfight for later this week! That way the rest of the days won’t feel as empty now that Christmas is mostly over...” You offered
“What’s the plan for later today, though?” Piper added.
“Well...” You checked the time. “In half an hour we should gather in the big house to start the party.”
“Do we have to dress up or...?” Annabeth tilted her head.
“Nah— well ugly sweaters are welcomed of course, and if you wanna dress nicely I won’t stop you, but it’s not a requirement.”
“Sweet,” Frank hummed. “Cause I bought ugly sweaters for all of you.”
“This is the best Christmas ever,” Leo grinned, admiring all the ugly sweaters in the room.
“Hey, why is Jason wearing the blue one?” Percy frowned. “Everyone knows blue stuff are my thing!”
“It goes better with his eyes though,” You remarked playfully. “Besides, I think your ugly sweater is the funniest.”
Percy looked down at the image in his and quickly a satisfied smiled adorned his features. “Ya think?”
“For sure,” You nodded, nudging Annabeth’s arm so she supported your comment.
“It’s really cute,” She agreed, although her tone was definitely mocking.
Percy stuck out his tongue and Annabeth laughed at his antics.
“What surprises me the most is Nico agreeing to wear one too,” You said playfully. “How much is Frank paying you for this, Ghost King?”
“Nothing, I can be fun if I want to,” He replied with a serious face. “And I wanted to... also Will begged me to do it.”
“I didn’t beg,” Will was quick to reply, his brows furrowed. “I just asked nicely. Many times. Nonstop.”
Everyone laughed, you sighed heavily and spoke again.
“I know it’s selfish to say it, but I wish you could come with Reyna and I to visit Cal, she’d be very happy to see you... and I’ll miss you all.”
“We’ll see her eventually,” Hazel comforted you.
“Yeah, I really wanted to go,” Leo pouted. “Haven’t seen her in ages and I was really looking forward to eat her gingerbread cookies— they’re out of this world, but I promised Jo and Hem I’d go spend New Years with them and lil Georgie back in the waystation.”
“Same here, can’t wait to see my sister,” Percy commented, “and my parents too.”
“I do miss my dad,” Annabeth sighed.
“It’s okay guys, I understand,” You said calmly, smiling at them lovingly. “I’m happy you all have places to go, means none of us are lonely. That’s the best gift ever.”
“Aww, stop it, Y/N, you’re going soft on us,” Piper taunted.
“Can’t help it, I love you all so much!” You said, a faint blush on your cheeks.
“We wob you too!” Leo pouted, doing a childish voice as he approached you with open arms.
“No, get away!” You warned him, but before you could escape a second pair of arms trapped you in place, it was Reyna. “Ugh, I hate you guys!”
“Gather round, people, this is a group hug!” Leo announced.
You were quickly engulfed by thousands of arms, everyone around you complaining about the proximity but laughing at Percy and Leo’s comments, the joy in the room was palpable and it almost felt like magic, life was good.
“It’s midnight!” Rachel shouted.
Some campers excitedly ran into their cabins and walked out holding presents, not all of them celebrated Christmas, but most wanted to take part in the celebrations a little, and so the campfire had turned into the spot were everyone was sharing presents, or food, or a place were to sit and hang out for a while longer than accostumed.
“This for you, cutie,” Will said, handing you a neatly wrapped present. “Hope you like it.”
“Aww thanks!” You beamed, then handed him his present. “I’ve got something for Nico too, where is he?”
“Back there,” He nodded towards a point to your left, you saw the darkhaired boy talking to his sister.
“Hey, guys! Happy Christmas!” You handed each one a present, Nico frowned.
“You didn’t need to get me this— bringing Hazel was more than enough—”
“Oh shut up, I didn’t do it because I was forced to, I wanted to give you a present. Saying thank you would be nice?” You teased.
“I... Thank you,” He said.
Your smile widened at this, then proceeded to walk around handing presents to your loved ones. Loads of hugs and kisses were shared, pats on the shoulder and head, and a surprisingly strong hug from Leo.
Once the evening was over, you went back to your bed feeling at ease, and the best wasn’t all over, in a few day you’d be travelling with Reyna to visit a very special friend, and the food there would be Olympian worthy.
Yes, life was perfect.

It calls me
@fjoresterweek 2021 - Day 4: Modern AU
[AO3]
Jester wakes up to her shoulder being shaken, and all she wants to do is push her face further into the pillow. She can feel the cooler air outside of her warm blankets, and the thought of leaving the cozy warmth is incredibly unappealing.
“Jessie, wake up.” she hears Beau whisper, and Jester finally opens her eyes. The room is surprisingly light, and for a minute she worries she overslept - but the clock beside her bed says it's still very early.
“What’s up?” she mumbles in response, still incredibly sleepy.
“School’s cancelled. They called a snow day.” Beau says, and Jester shoots up.
“Really??” She exclaims as she runs to the window of their shared bedroom, and sure enough, the snow that started last night had continued heavily all through last night, and had no sign of stopping. The sun wasn’t quite up, but the white of the snow gave everything a soft brightness, including their room.
Beau grins. “Yeah, I was really hoping they would. I do not want to go to my morning classes in this.”
“Beau, you never want to go to your morning classes.” Jester says, and checks her phone for the cancellation confirmation emails from her professors.
“True.” Beau confirms as she searches her side of the room for a pair of socks.
Jester pulls her pair of unicorn slippers from underneath her bed. “Let’s go tell Fjord!”
“Shouldn’t we let him just sleep in?”
Jester shakes her head, already heading to the door. “No, he’ll freak out and think he missed his class. Besides, I’m too excited and I wanna tell him.”
Beau and Jester step out the door of their shared room, and walk down the hallway of their apartment to Fjord’s room. They had gotten a two bedroom apartment near campus at the start of the school year, and it had been the best. The three of them met during orientation and had stuck close together ever since.
Jester knocked gently and pushed the door open to Fjord’s room, who was still fast asleep in bed. His room is much smaller - barely any room for his twin sized bed, his little desk, and a dresser. With Beau and Jester sharing a room and needing space for two beds, they had taken the larger one.
“He looks like a supermodel even when he sleeps, it’s not fair.” Jester whispers to Beau, who just laughs.
This makes Fjord stir, and as he’s slowly opening his eyes, Jester practically jumps on his bed, with Beau following.
“It’s a snow day!! It’s a snow day!!” Jester cheers, and Fjord groans and flops back down after the initial shock.
“For real?”
Beau holds her phone up to Fjord’s face. “Yeah, check it out!”
Fjord looks, and then smirks. “Oh, nice. Also a text from Yasha came down when you were showing me the email.”
Beau pulls her phone back quickly and Jester screeches, trying to wrestle the phone to see.
“Ooooh, what did she say, Beau?”
Beau jumps off the bed. “Fuck off!”
“Fjord! You saw it! What did it say?” Jester asks, still sitting on Fjord’s bed but watching Beau with intent.
Beau turns and walks out of the room. “Fuck you guys, I’m making coffee!”
“Can you make me some too?” Fjord calls out to her, and she affirms but grumbles something about him not deserving it.
Fjord gives a knowing smile to Jester. “I have a feeling that Beau’s not going to spend her snow day with us.”
She grins and wiggles her eyebrows. “She’s gonna spend it with Yasha?”
Fjord makes the same expression back at her, and then starts to get out of his bed. “I’m gonna go use the bathroom before Beau claims it.”
-
Beau does in fact, eagerly take up Yasha’s offer to spend their snow day together, leaving Fjord and Jester in the apartment by themselves with nowhere to be. Jester makes a suggestive joke about her and Yasha staying warm, and when Beau throws one back at her and Fjord, she blushes and is incredibly grateful Fjord is out of earshot.
Jester insists that her and Fjord start their day off by making snow angels and playing in the snow. With them both being west coast kids, neither of them got to do this as children very often. After Jester’s fourth snow angel, she reaches her hands up to ask Fjord to help her up, but instead purposely pulls him down into the snow and their snowfight commences. It mostly consists of snowballs, but tackling is fair game and Jester eventually wins when she makes a running jump onto Fjord’s back, knocking them both to the ground and he falls face first into a snowdrift. Shivering, and with their fair share of snow down their shirts and backs, they finally decide it’s time to go inside and change into warm and dry clothes.
Breakfast comes next, and it’s the perfect day for pancakes and hot chocolate. Jester would argue that every day is good for pancakes and hot chocolate, but there is something special about a gigantic stack of decked out pancakes and extra marshmallows in your mug on a snow day.
“Fjord,” Jester starts, biting into the very last of her pancakes, “Do you want to watch a movie?”
“Sure. Can I take a shower first though? I’m still kinda cold from the snow you put down my shirt.” He replies, and takes their dishes and puts them in the sink.
“Of course! I might take one too, I think my hair is a little frozen.”
Fjord interrupts her before she can continue. “Dibs on having a shower first! I don’t want you to steal all the hot water.”
Jester laughs and calls out to him as he walks down the hall. “Think about what movie you want to watch!”
-
After they both have their showers, Jester pulls the duvet from her bed onto the couch and grabs herself a bowl of caramel popcorn, much to Fjord’s dismay.
“Aren’t you still full from breakfast?”
Jester shrugs. “I mean, kinda, but I really wanted popcorn.” She tosses some into her mouth. “I’m assuming you don’t want any, then?”
Fjord shakes his head, and settles onto the couch under the blanket. “Nope! Besides, I wouldn’t have caramel. The original salt and butter is the way to go!”
“Suit yourself! You’re missing out.”
Fjord turns to her and turns the TV on. “So, what movie do you want to watch?”
“Oh, I’m good with anything. You?”
“Is it weird if I say I want to watch something that takes place somewhere warm?”
Jester laughs. “Of course not!”
Fjord looks a little sheepish. “I just got warm again. I’m not as good against the cold as you.”
“Want to watch Moana?” Jester suggests with a smile. She knows it’s secretly one of Fjord’s favourite movies.
He grins. “Always.”
They’ve both seen this movie a million times. They sing along to every song, Jester a bit louder than Fjord, and they quote the lines along. Fjord does end up stealing some of Jester’s popcorn, and Jester knows when in the movie to subtly pass tissues over to him because he always ends up getting choked up.
What Fjord doesn’t expect, is that Jester has slowly been inching closer to him. He’s not sure if she is doing it subconsciously or not, but he selfishly likes it. He knows he’s had a crush on Jester for ages, and isn’t entirely sure if she likes him back. Beau has called him out on it, getting tired of the underlying romantic tension, but he’s terrified that if she doesn’t like him back, he’ll ruin the entire house dynamic. He knows he needs to tell her. He’ll tell her at the end of this semester - that way if she doesn’t like him back, she has an easy out if she wants.
“Fjord?” Jester quietly says, and Fjord forces his attention back to her and the movie.
“Yeah?”
She snuggles in closer to him, resting her head on his shoulder. “I bet it would be fun to go wayfinding. Or even just sailing.”
Fjord raises an eyebrow at her. “Oh yeah?”
Jester hums. “I think it’d be fun. Maybe one day we could go.”
“Well, maybe eventually I can buy or rent a boat and we can sail our cares away. I’ve got some experience, I can show you the ropes.” He replies softly, almost wistfully.
He feels Jester smile against his shoulder. “I hope so. I’d really like that.”
She then pulls herself even closer by casually draping her legs across Fjord’s under the blanket, almost sitting in his lap. He pauses for just a moment before wrapping an arm around her, gently tucking her into his side and she happily melts right into him. His heart is fluttering about in his chest, and any thought of the outside cold is far, far away from his mind.
--
It’s much later in the afternoon when they’re working on their papers and readings in their respective rooms, and Fjord hears Jester bounding down the hallway, calling his name repeatedly and incessantly. Before he can even ask what’s up, she appears in his doorway.
“Fjord! You’re not doing anything for reading week, right?” She asks, almost breathlessly.
“Uhh, no? Probably just ending up being an awkward third wheel to Beau and Yasha when I’m not working, why?”
Jester is practically bouncing. “Wanna fly back home for the week? To the coast?”
“What?!” He says in absolute shock. “What do you mean, I don’t think I can afford-”
Jester interrupts him. “No, no! I was just talking to my dad, and…” She takes a breath. “So, after watching Moana I kinda missed home a bit? Like being by the ocean and beach? I mean this snow has been super fun and I love it, but I kinda miss home a bit, too, you know? So I’m on the phone with my dad and I told him I was maybe wondering about coming home for reading week in a month, and he offered to pay for my ticket! And THEN said I could bring a friend too if I wanted.”
Fjord’s shock has only grown. “That’s expensive! We can’t accept-”
Jester cuts him off again, trying to calm him down. “It’s ok, it’s ok! One of the tickets is through his like, flying points! And he has to make up for all the birthdays and holidays he missed when he wasn’t around. Do you want to come? We’ll stay with my mom so we don’t have to worry about a place to stay.”
Fjord is truly stunned, still processing. “I mean, if he’s sure… that’s very generous of him.”
Jester jumps up, and throws her arms around his neck, giving him a little kiss on the cheek. “Wonderful! I’ll go let him know!”
Fjord blushes. “Thank you. For inviting me, and tell your dad I sincerely thank him.”
Jester beams, and starts singing “You're welcome!” as she walks down the hall back to her room.
Fjord leans against his desk and places his head on his hands, still making sense of what just happened and what’s ahead of them. Jester’s (potentially) mob boss father just paid for their plane tickets to go home and they’ll be staying at Jester’s famous actress mother. But more importantly...
He’s going, with his crush, on a week’s trip back home with just the two of them. Who just gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Surely everything will go just fine.

All the time on Earth
Part 4 - Butterbeer Moments
Summary: You start to spend more and more time with George, and the two of you slowly start to getting to know each other
Warnings: None
Word count: 2.4K
George Weasley x Reader
Masterlist
- Edited for grammar -
The three of you were sitting in the common room, leaning over the same piece of parchment on the table. Fred was doodling the last line of numbers on the bottom, while you and George were watching him with great anticipation.
“Finished!” Fred dropped the quill and tossed the parchment towards you “What do you think? Brilliant, if you ask me.”
You took the paper and looked over the numbers. You bit your lip, frowning.
“Oi, she doesn’t like it!” exclaimed Fred.
“Or she just cannot read your rubbish handwriting,” answered George to his brother, not taking his eyes off you. “Y/N? How is it?”
“It’s — not bad.”
“Not bad?” Fred was over the top acting offended. “This is the best price-product ratio there is!”
“Well, not exactly,” you said, pointing at the paper. “Look, here. You are offering one piece of Ton-Tongue Toffee for a galleon and a fake wand for three. But the Toffees take much more effort and money to manufacture than the wand.”
“So what are you saying?” asked George. “We can’t raise the price. Otherwise they won’t sell.”
“I’m saying if you wanna keep the price, try combine the two. Have you thought about releasing a booklet? People collect... let’s say ten signitures from you, one after every puchase and they’d get 10% off the next thing they buy. Sell the booklets individually for two galleons but put them in the box with the Toffees and the wand for free. Sell the boxes for five. Then people would buy it more and you get more money for some extra paper. You’ll make profit.”
The twins were staring at you, unusually quiet. You were quite satisfied with yourself. You were only thinking in the way you usually do when running your own business. It worked out for you, three years of success and counting. You didn’t mind helping out Fred and George, since they didn’t sell anything similar to the stuff you were selling.
“Well?” you asked impatiently. “What do you think?”
“You make it so complicated yet so easy” said Fred.
“George?”
“I like it. We can make more money but still not cheating our customers. It’s clean.”
“Yeah, all right,” Fred took the quill again and started writing. “Five galleons you say? Good. I’m showing it to Lee, ask what he’s thinking.”
He snitched the parchment and walked over to the window where Lee and Angelina were talking. You smiled at George and gathered your stuff.
“Well, I have to go to the library. Need to write my Charms essay.”
“To the library?” asked George, distraught. “It’s the middle of the winter break!”
“Well, some of us have to study for the exams, you know.”
“But you’re coming to the New Year’s Eve party tomorrow, right?”
“Of course I’m coming,” you said, putting your bag on your shoulders. “Wouldn’t miss it for the world.” —— You were playing Exploding Snap with Ginny by the window when you heard a loud cheer from the middle of the common room. It didn’t take you by surprise to see Fred standing on the table, juggling empty butterbeer bottles while George was standing by, raising his wand, navigating more and more glasses into his brother’s hand.
“It’s almost midnight,” Ginny said. “You want a drink?”
“Sure.”
She put down her cards and went to grab two glasses, but her seat didn’t stay empty for long. George left Lee the responsibility to throw the glasses at Fred, and sat down next to you instead.
“I couldn’t help but notice you sitting here alone,” he grinned. “But it’s all right now, I’m here to save you.”
“Yes, thank you for saving me from thirty seconds of loneliness,” you laughed, but let out a soft shriek when all the cards exploded on the table.
George picked them up and organized them into one pack. “Actually, I came here to ask you if you wanted to place a bet. The next task is almost here, you know.”
“Yesterday you scolded me for studying during the winter break but now you wanna talk about business?” you teased him. He seemed to like it when you did that.
“C’mon Y/N, business is different than some essay.”
“Wait, so asking for my money is always appropriate?” you pushed his shoulder playfully.
“All right, what about leaving the money out of it? Place your bet, and if you win I buy you a butterbeer at Hogsmeade after the task.”
“Please don’t let him make you gambling, Y/N,” said Ginny, returning with the drinks. She shot a suspicious look at her brother. “You’re not asking her to place bets, are you?
“It’s all right Ginny, George wouldn’t win a sickle from me if I didn’t let him,” you smiled at the boy, who was now leaning closer.
“But the Hogsmeade bet is on?”
“Yeah, sure. One butterbeer on Harry finishing first. Deal?” you offered your hand but when he shook it you felt your stomach jump.
“Deal. Grab your glasses ladies, it’s almost a brand new year!”
George had a really fun night after that, but sometimes he’d catch himself staring at you. He wasn’t sure what it was yet. You two had only been talking for a week and a half after all. Although, he enjoyed talking to you. You always seemed to match his cheerful tone, and you didn’t mind when he was joking around.
He shouted happy new years to you one more time when you decided to go to sleep. You waved him goodbye and he felt that nice warm feeling in his chest again. Was it so wrong, making new friends? He didn’t think so.
——
The next morning everyone woke up a bit late, and the majority of the students decided to hit the library, using the last day of the winter break to prepare for the next week’s classes. George however, had a different idea.
“Please Y/N,” begged the boy. “You already did all your homework. We should just go down to Hogsmeade, really.”
“I don’t know George, I’m really tired,” you said, massaging your temple. You didn’t get much sleep last night. “What about next weekend?”
“We should really do it this weekend,” said Fred, butting in. “We need to ask at Zonko’s if they’d sell our products. And at Honeydukes, too.”
“And why do you need me for that?”
“Well, you and the less handsome twin could talk to one place, me and Lee to the other. Meet up at the Three Broomsticks?”
George threw a pillow at Fred, but agreed to the idea. You also said yes, knowing that you’d just lie on the couch all day anyway.
The four of you headed down to the village, Fred and George walking up front while you were talking with Lee behind them. Then when the first houses started to show, you went separate ways.
“I shouldn’t have dressed this warm” you said, getting rid of your scarf. “It’s really hot today.”
“Yeah, I know” answered George, pointing at the ground. “Snow’s melting already.”
“Good. I don’t like snow.”
He stopped in his tracks, staring at you like he had just seen a ghost.
“What did you say?”
“What? I don’t like it.” you said. “It just makes walking so much harder.”
“All right now, stop,” he said, shaking his head while started walking again. “There’s nothing better than a good ol’ snowfight!”
“Yeah? So winter’s your favorite, then?”
“Yeah — No,” he shrugged, smile on his face. “I like every season for something else. You? I’m guessing winter’s a taboo.”
“I like winter — from the indoors,” you tried to save yourself. “Watching the snow from someplace where it can’t touch you. But I like autumn. It means school is starting again.”
“Well, that was an incredibly horrible thing to say.”
“What? Why?”
He started mocking you playfully.
“School is starting again!”
You pretended to be offended, then continued in a genuine tone.
“Don’t tell me you don’t like being here.”
“No, I like being here.”
“Then what?”
He hesitated.
“Well, mum, you know.”
“No, I don’t know. Tell me.”
He glanced at you. You didn’t want to push him, though.
“Or don’t. If you don’t want to.”
“It’s all right. It’s just that — that mum really tries to push us. She wants us to study hard, work in the Ministry like Percy. But it’s not for us. Not for me and Fred, anyway.”
“So what do you wanna do?”
You still had two years left of Hogwarts, but you knew how hard it was to decide what you wanted to do later.
“Well — er — ” it was the first time you saw a shy smile on George’s face. “We want to open a joke shop.”
“Like Zonko’s?”
“Almost. Only bigger and better than that. With more pizzazz.”
“Yeah, I can see you doing that. I mean, if you keep making those Nosebleed things — and they actually work...” you gave him a snarky look and he laughed “...then why not do it? You’re not gonna be able to work for the Ministry if you just hate every minute of it.”
“Exactly.”
He nodded ceremoniously before opening the door to Honeydukes. He let you go in first, then you two headed straight to the cash register. While George was haggling, you were staring out the window, watching the street behind the shop. Just as you were turning away, you saw a huge black dog crossing the sidewalk. You were quite fond of dogs, so you followed it with your eyes until it disappeared behind a dumpster.
“All right, we’re ready,” said George, claiming your attention for himself again. “Three Broomsticks?”
“Let’s go,” you agreed, walking out the shop. “So, what did she say?”
“She said she’d talk to his husband, but she seemed to be interested. We should come back next week, though.”
“That’s a good start.”
Fred and Lee were not around yet so you sat down to one of the tables in the corner. You ordered two butterbeers and you finally got rid of your warm coat, after it turned out to be such an unnecessary item on this bright day.
“So what about the rest of your family?” you asked. “You said Percy is working at the Ministry.”
“Yeah, my dad also. He collects muggle items, too.”
“Really?”
“Well, more like garbage, actually,” he laughed. “Dad loves muggles. Finds them interesting. Mum thinks he’s mad, but — ” he shrugged “— it’s a hobby, you know.”
“And what about your other siblings? Charlie was just finishing in the year I was sorted.”
“Yeah, he works in Romania now. Studies dragons there. He brought the ones for the first task, too.”
“What, really?” your jaw dropped, then you took a sip. “Well, he clearly deserves all the money he’s earning cause that seems to be the most dangerous job I’ve ever heard of.”
George laughed then he drank, too.
“Yeah, and my other brother works in Egypt. Have you been?”
“Not really.”
“We visited him a year ago, it was amazing. Dad won a prize at the Ministry so we had the mon — er — we had the time to visit everything. Fred and I tried to lock Percy in a pyramid but mum didn’t let us.”
“I wonder why,” you giggled at the sight of his reminiscing face. “So what else did you do there — other than torturing your brother, of course?”
He told you everything about ‘one of his best summers’ as he called it, and you didn’t mind just listening, watching him talk. If two weeks ago someone had said to you that you’re gonna be here sitting with George Weasley, you wouldn’t see the point in that at all. But in this moment it felt like one of the most natural things you could do.
“Do you need another one?” George asked you as your drinks slowly started to run out. You hesitated, glanced at Madam Rosmerta, then turned back to George.
“If I do something will you tell on me?”
“What?” George asked, curious.
You checked the bar again, then took out your wand and held it under the table. You pointed at the glasses, said the refilling charm non-verbally, then watched how the glasses were full of butterbeer again a second later.
You looked at George, a shy expression on your face. You didn’t know what he was gonna say.
“I don’t always do this,” you started. “And I always pay for the first one. But sometimes money just runs short and I can’t always do something about it.”
You casted your eyes down. Suddenly you weren’t sure sharing your secret was a good idea. But George understood.
“No, I get it. I don’t always have much money either. I know it’s — mum and dad do the best they can but, you know — there’s a lot of us” he nodded.
“That’s why you’re trying to sell your fake wands?”
“Mm. Any way is a good way if it makes money. How did you do it, though?”
“Did what?”
“The spell. To refill the beer. You don’t learn non-verbal magic in your year. We only just started doing that.”
“Oh. Well, I learned it by myself. I had to, if I wanted to do stuff like this, you know.”
“But it’s still advanced level of magic.”
“Well, everything’s achievable with enough practice.”
“Blimey,” he said, quite amused. “You really are something.”
You felt the warmth in your chest again. You shot a grateful smile towards the boy sitting next to you.
“Thanks.”
“Isn’t it exhausting? Always studying, I mean.”
“I study while I’m home in the summer.”
“You study in your summer break? That’s outrageous!”
“Don’t really have anything else to do anyway.”
“Well, we can figure out something, go somewhere this summer. I mean, if it’s alright with your parents as well.”
“I don’t think they’d really mind. They’d be delighted, me leaving again.”
“Are they really that bad?” he asked, sadness in his eyes.
“Yeah,” you said in a low voice, then spoke in apathy. “It’s okay, though. I got quite used to it by now.”
George opened his mouth to answer but two extra glasses appeared on the table and chairs creaked on the floor next to you.
“You two were really fast!” Fred exclaimed while he and Lee took a seat. “You even had time to start drinking without us. How was Honeydukes, Georgie? What did they say?”
George needed a second to understand what the bloody hell Fred was talking about. He looked at you, confused, then to Lee, then tried to come up with some useful information. But his mind was elsewhere. From the corner of his eye he was watching you. And for the first time in his life he wished if only his brother had arrived a few minutes later.
