horror being very specific with table manners and he berates people (dust and killer) for eating like fucking pigs

i think it'd be morbidly funny that because there was no food in horrortale but the cutlery and stuff was all there that maybe he would pretend to eat with no food on the plate. it was in a satirical way that he would joke maybe around horror paps or alone where he would pretend to eat and have really good table manners but then the satire joke became REAL and now horror is incredibly specific about how to eat food

you MUST hold the fork in the left and knife in right says horror. no killer you can't duel wield the fucking knives this is a table not a slaughterhouse. dust pick up your elbows off the table. actually how about you get your entire upper body off the table tf why are you SLEEPING ON THE FOOD??? killer's sitting fetal position in the chair because of course he wouldn't sit normally like the idiot he is. dust is forced to put his hood down and reveal his face no more mysterious shadow style because it puts horror at ease. they cannot have a single peaceful meal because once they get past the table manners phase it then becomes a completion to see who can eat the least (because they suck at everything including eating)

Karima: she’s obsessed with collecting room decor and she has a crochet corner, half of her decor is crocheted too honestly 😂 I think she also has a thing for animal print stuff esp curtains and pillow cases, she’d keep small ceramics stuff she made with daemon everywhere

Shaheen: idk why it was funny to imagine his college dorm lol he uses space very efficiently also his desk is very important 🧠

Gideon: his room is so big and so empty but he’s barely home so who cares, the only notable thing about it besides the diabolical toys collection on display is the display cabinet he keeps all his medals, plane models, pictures, uniforms etc in

Yazan: yazan’s room as you know is a Dumpster 😂 it’s impossible to find anything in there and it’s never tidy, also so many posters and records + ofc drum corner

Valen: very pretty but his room is an entire house in itself you need directions to where everything is 💀 Texas king bed with a canopy, mirror above bed/on ceiling, maximalist unique decor and very beautifully coordinated color wise. Also huge portraits of himself obviously lol

1. What’s something you read recently and enjoyed?

Improbable Magic for Cynical Witches by Kate Scelsa! I don't often read romances, YA or otherwise, and I thought this was an urban fantasy, but it ended up being a cute story about making mistakes and forgiving yourself and starting over, and the characters were all well thought-out and three-dimensional. The setting is also Salem in the fall/on Halloween which makes it extra Aesthetic(TM).

4. What are your top 3 comfort reads?

Basically anything with characters I've loved since my childhood/teen years lol:

anything Tamora Pierce, but mostly the Song of the Lioness, Immortals, or Circle of Magic quartets

The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings

9. What series has most disappointed you?

(Not sure if this was the most disappointing, but it's an easy answer since I recently chucked the sequels I wasn't into lol)

The Three Dark Crowns series by Kendare Blake. She started with a two-book deal, and imo the ending of book 2 is solid: the "villain" queen wins, but only by essentially being cursed with a horrible dark power (I think the zombie of her love interest is following her around? potentially she is undead? I can't remember), and the other two queens leave the island and achieve their dream of going to live blissful, normal lives on the non-magic mainland, instead of being killed by their sister like they should have been.

But then after the series got super popular, it was extended from 2 books to 4, and I think the author accepted that deal without really planning what to do next, so there's a whole lot of nonsense that starts up.

A side character is given magic powers, the queens who fled (who should've been killed by the islands magic law) return and cause some horrible magical/natural catastrophe just by being there. It turns out that side character is the "rightful" queen because the author just decided to flip her magic system on the head for some reason.... it's too nuts lol.

I understand she accepted that deal bc like, who wouldn't if you finally created a mega-hit YA series after years in the biz, but I wish she'd thought a bit more about what the hell she was going to write, and changed the ending of book 2 if she knew about the deal before it was finished.

Whoops, that got long 😅 anyway I like the first 2 books and the prequel novellas, but book 3 was a hot mess and I didn't even attempt book 4. The covers are gorgeous tho!
