There’s a fragile pink flower sitting in Etho’s base. It’s wilting a little in the sun, its leaves starting to brown and curl at the edges.

Bdubs can’t help but admire it as he plans out his tower and builds up his walls. There isn’t much else in the way of inspiration around here. The island’s a construction zone, a mess of cobble foundations and building outlines, jagged walls and chests spilling over with useful junk.

It’s a pretty flower, even though it’s wilting. Gem has even potted it— a stupid luxury this early in the game. And she has given it to Etho, so sweet and so kind, and called Etho family, and Bdubs, overhearing, has swallowed down the sting and convinced himself that it doesn’t hurt at all. Because family is stupid luxury, too.

“It’s poison,” Bdubs cautions after Gem bounces away. Etho ignores him, picking up the pot and cradling it in his hand. His smile lights up his entire face.

“Don’t eat it!” Bdubs snaps, but Etho just shakes his head, still grinning like an idiot.

Etho turns the flower so he can admire it from all angles. “I’m gonna save it!” His voice is warm. “It’s my precious gift from Gem.”

Bdubs scoffs and turns back to his work. “Sure. Save it.”

Bdubs has tried to save things before. He protected them in walls of stone and snow, held them close, squeezed too tight. He played the game all wrong, wore his loyalty like a noose. It drew tighter and tighter until it strangled him— until he was knocked to the ground with the taste of iron spreading across his tongue. The snow blanketed him until he was completely erased.

Etho places the flower down in his base. “Nobody’s gonna touch it, okay?” There’s laughter in his voice, the creep of irony. “No one touch my beautiful flower from Gem!”

Bdubs can’t help but laugh along. “You know how this goes, don’t you?”

Etho smiles up at him. “I do.” Bdubs is almost taken aback by the brilliance, by Etho standing there in his tower foundations, eyes shining, the copper gleaming in the sun.

Bdubs has to work to speak around the sudden tightness in his throat. “If you put value on anything, it’s over.”

Etho shrugs and falls silent. Bdubs thinks he understands why Etho did what he did, all those years ago.

Night falls. In the glow of torchlight, Bdubs is building his tower block by block.

Etho’s tower has grown next to his, but his doorway is still unfinished. Light spills out of the tower and pours onto the grass. On the next trip to refill his inventory, Bdubs can’t help but glance inside.

It’s homey. Etho has laid down wood floors, a crafting bench, some chests. Etho himself is in there, too. His back is to the doorway and he doesn’t notice Bdubs’ approach. He must be busy with something. Bdubs can hear him humming the way he does when he’s concentrating, quiet and off-key.

Etho steps back and now Bdubs can see the water bucket in his hand, the task that Etho was so diligently working on. The pink flower: no longer wilting, but standing tall.

“Bdubs!” Etho exclaims, and Bdubs flinches. “How long have you been there?”

Bdubs shifts his weight. “Just checkin’ up on you.”

“And?” Etho asks.

“Copper tower, check. Golden ratio, uh… I gotta count.”

Etho snorts. “You’re pretty nosy for a guy who said we were all gonna mind our own business this season.”

“Yeah, well…” Bdubs doesn’t have a retort. “The flower looks nice.”

“Mm,” Etho agrees. His gaze sharpens. “Don’t get any ideas!”

“No, I—“ Bdubs is choking. “I’d never.”

“Never?”

Bdubs is uncomfortable with the skepticism in Etho’s voice, uncomfortable with the wave of emotion cresting through his body.

“Goodnight, then,” Bdubs says. And he quietly returns to his work.

Super Basic WHB guide in the easiest way on how to get keys

This is especially for newer people going into whb

HOARD EVERYTHING!!

These red gems are your primary currency. It's not like obey me, where You can use these suckers to exchange for demon ass... No, it's more like Genshin Impact. You still want to hoard these red gems because you can buy keys with these Oh my God do not use it to buy anything else.

You used to buy 30 red keys (equal to 10 summon more on keys later) in the pancake shop But this has changed pancakes are still kind of good I guess... Because with enough you can purchase a whole legendary character but that's for people who have them...

Money and books are super worthless The only reason why you're going to have so many is because you're going to be grinding these battles. Trust me you're going to want to!

You're not going to have Solomon seals often and when you do there's highly likely a chance you probably won't get anything So really save your seals with everything you have unless you want something you really want

50 seals = 1 summon

500 seals= 10 summons

So you need.... A lot of seals. It's not worth just to summon just hoard them until you have about over a thousand... Hoard them with everything you have

DO NOT USE SEALS ON CHARACTERS THAT WILL BE SUMMONABLE 3 MONTHS AFTER.

Now keys!!✨✨✨✨❤️

Yellow keys are not as good as red keys but they're still pretty good. You also get them more often than red keys. You can use as many of these greater keys as you want though you're not going to get a lot of good stuff.

Red keys however... Save them save them like your life depends on it. Only summon them when a character comes out The only way to get keys is to have characters...

Now I don't see a lot of people talk about how to get keys per se... So here's how you get red keys.

Every character as rank and up has an affinity button... Which mostly just talks about useless shit occasionally a comic or a chat depending on the character.... But no one cares about that.

If you click on it and scroll that bar goes all the way to 100.

ALL CHARACTERS GIVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF KEYS SO IN REALITY S RANK CHARACTERS ARE BETTER BECAUSE THEY AREN'T AS RARE AS L CHARACTERS.

They only give you keys three/two times per character

characters give one 100 greater (yellow) keys

And 21 red (lesser)keys

It's not enough red keys yes but you still get those greater keys which you could possibly use to summon hopefully getting an S rank character...

My problem with Twisted Wonderland

As someone who used to consistently play every single day for months, I've got a lot of issues. Let me preface this by saying I know nothing I'm saying will change the game and how it runs, I just want to come here and rant about the game I used to love.

Rant below the cut

My biggest problem is how grindy the game is, especially as a strict f2p player.

As someone who's never spent money on the game, it is so easy to tell how much of a cash grab the game is. The people that work on the game care about it I'm sure, but it is so hard to do anything in this game.

It's hard to get SSR cards, not only because the Gacha system is hella fucked up, but because it's hard to get enough gems to get pulls. Yeah we've got weekly and the logins, but that's so not enough unless you save for a card months in advance.

When you're a new player they give you some leeway, lots of free stuff because all the easy missions are meant for that, but as you get further and further into the game it's extremely hard to get even a 10 pull unless you're on the game basically 24/7.

As someone who is rank 72- and again, played almost religiously for months- it's hard to enjoy the game.

And I know as the story goes on it's meant to be harder, but because of how little they give you it's hard to get past the story as it goes on. It's hard leveling cards up, especially the spells.

It would be nicer if they gave you more materials or gems, that would make all the grind worth it, but that's not how it is. Hell, even events barely give you any pulls and yet they expect you to spend hours doing lessons to unlock the chapters and leveling up the free cards. Someone who's f2p (in my and my friends experience) will find it hard to get motivation to continue playing.

I want to continue playing, I love the characters and the story, but it's so hard to level up cards, or get pulls, that it breaks my heart and makes me want to not continue because I know I won't ever get that card I want, that I won't be able to get past this chapter, that I won't be able to finish an event fully because of the system.

It's so obvious they don't care about f2p's because reruns and even some event banners are strictly p2p things. Rerun banners require special keys that are pay-walled, event banners like the anime expo ones or special non-event related ones are pay-walled, THEY'RE ALL PAY-WALLED.

To me it is extremely frustrating to know that the developers don't seem to care about the fan base at all.

I mentioned earlier about the Gacha system, which I find really, REALLY dumb. 100 pulls for a guaranteed SSR? 200 needed for the event SSR? That's so dumb! Even if you were p2p you'd have to have some extreme luck to get an event card before at least 70 (which it's hard to get if you're far in game and f2p). In my experience, all the event cards I have that are SSR's (WHICH IS 2 BTW, ive been playing since idia's groom event and only have TWO EVENT CARDS EVEN WITH CONSTANT GRIND) I had to do over 70-80 pulls for and spent weeks grinding for. Not to mention pity doesn't carry over to other banners.

Speaking of events, I swear to god the events are getting shorter and shorter every time. The Stitch event that just passed? I swear it only lasted 3-4 weeks, banners ended way too quickly for any f2p that wasn't saving to pull without extreme luck to get any SSR card, got forbid the event exclusive ones. I got like 25 pulls during that event and 10 of those were because it was Kalim's birthday. It's extremely dumb and next thing you know it events will be lasting only a week or two and you're probably fucked over.

Anyways, that's basically all I have to say. There are a lot of things that frustrate me, like how they do events and some characters stuff, but I can't bother to put it here because I'm not as pressed about that stuff as I am about the stuff I did talk about.

I'm aware that people probably won't read this, but it's nice to get off my chest y'know? I'm going to continue to play the game, but I'll never play as constantly as I did when I first started because it's so hard to play and find motivation for it anymore.

I'm working on another Dead Boy Detectives fic rather than work on my actual college stuff and it's got me thinking bout Niko and luck. Spoilers for the whole show, of course.

I find it fascinating how Niko keeps stumbling upon all these situations that seem like they have nothing to do with anything, only for her to find the key to whatever problem they encounter next in said random situation. It's a pretty consistent, too, that she seems to walk a line between bad and good luck. Like something bad will happen to her, only for that to be immediately offset by something really good that she found by chance. It's honestly kind of wild at times.

So, when we first meet Niko, she's being possessed by parasites that want to explode her, which doesn't seem very lucky. Except, that somehow the girl who moves across the girl just so happens to be with a couple of ghosts who can save her. Just in the nick of time, too. And at first that doesn't seem like that big of a deal. It's what the boys do, right? It makes sense they saved her just in time because that's what they do, and that's the kind of show this is. But this bad luck / good luck thing keeps happening to her until the end of the show.

In episode 4, she goes with the gang to the lighthouse and goes off on her own to talk to the gift shop lady. She doesn't find what it is that is drowning the people, but she does find information about the Washer Woman and about Lilith, which at the time seems to her and the others like just random information. She then goes to find the red sea glass and gifts it to Edwin on a whim, without knowing what it can do for them. She just finds it, like it's nothing, when later we see Tragic Mick spend so much time by the shore looking for one, and we see how hard it is. And I know they say in the show that only those who really need her can find the Washer Woman, but out of all four of them, Niko doesn't seem to be the one who needs the Washer Woman the most, as we see when Crystal is the one who receives a personalized riddle thing. Which, again, is something that will be super important later and Crystal gains that knowledge thanks to Niko just stumbling upon the key to finding the Washer Woman on accident.

Then, in episode 5, she just happens to stumble upon Jenny's secret admirer and manage to set up a date with them. Now, I know. I know Maxine is actually a stalker that ends up trying to kill Jenny, bad luck. Except nothing really happens to her there? @carpediemma has a post where she says that the floor was most likely dirty because she promised Jenny to clean the floors for a month if the date went wrong and Jenny was sort of banking on it being bad. With Niko's track record with luck, I think that is very possible. Again, bad luck / good luck situation. The date she sets up is ruined because Maxine tries to kill Jenny, but because she made the bet and Jenny fully believed the date wouldn't work, Maxine slips and fall.

Episode 6 might be a bit of a stretch. Technically, it's Crystal's decision to go to Tragic Mick's in search for some way to get rid of David, but it's thanks to Niko that she actually gets the heart gem thingy. So, bad luck there, because the gem takes away all of Crystal's powers. However, and this links back to episode 4 again, it's thanks to her finding the sea glass that eventually Crystal has the way to start discovering her real abilities.

In episode 7 she stays with the Night Nurse while Charles goes to hell and Crystal goes to find David. She starts reading the Night Nurse's book as a way to find something about her dad. Nothing she finds there would be useful for contacting, seeing or bringin him back. However, she does manage to stumble upon the exact passage she needed to buy Edwin and Charles some time after they get back from hell. And yes, maybe you could say that she read the whole book during the time Charles was gone, but I doubt it. We don't know how long exactly it takes Charles to find Edwin and return, but we do know it can't be that long, because the Night Nurse keeps insisting she can't keep the doorway open for long. I think at most he would have been gone 40 minutes, and that's me being generous. It's enough time for Crystal to confront David and come back. In any case, I don't think it's enough for her to carefully read the whole book front to back, no matter how good her reading comprehension is, specially if she was looking for something specific, like something about where her dad ended up in. I think it's more likely that she just found the page with the loophole she would need by chance, read it, filed it in her memory for a "just in case" and continued looking for what she wanted.

Finally, in episode 8, we have the whole Lilith thing that was set up in episode 4. She finds about her and files it as an irrelevant detail, until she hears Tragic Mick talk about Esther's deal and tells Crystal how she can contact Lilith, which ends up saving Crystal and the boys at the final confrontation. Besides that, though, there's the whole bear figure that Tragic Mick gives her and the explosion at Jenny's shop. In the explosion, Esther takes Charles and Edwin (bad), but neither her nor Jenny, the two living people in the shop at the time, are really injured in the commotion (good.)

And then the bear thing. In episode 7, she hears his story and tells him how they found the Washer Woman, and he can't find a piece of red sea glass of his own. Even though he is really desperate for a way to find her. (which, again, it's odd Niko is the one to find the Washer Woman when she wasn't that in need for the Washer Woman's assistance. The whole group was, but it was Niko who found her, but anyways). He gifts her the bear figure as a way to thank her for trying to help and they move on from that. And she accepts it and goes to Esther's place with Crystal, convinced of the protection of the bear, and then dies to save Crystal. Except she doesn't really? She's fine at the end, in some sort of frozen land, with Litty and Kingham, and by the way she holds the bear figure, it's implied that's what sort of saved her, even if she is no longer tied to the mortal plane.

I don't know, there was no real point behind this, just something I've been thinking about for a while. I think if someone has a shot at helping Tragic Mick return to sea, it's her, because she just has the luck to find solutions she wasn't even looking for. And I'm convinced if she ever makes it back to Port Townsend, that's just what she would do. On accident, but still. That's just the kind of character she is to me.

Gemtho Fortnight Day 4

Prompt: rpf with the hermits talking casually about fics and someone (maybe bdubs) is like "man there's barely any fics about me and etho anymore they're only writing about him and gem" (or whatever. just so the topic comes up) but gem has such a hugeeee crush and she's so flustered and embarrassed and doesn't want etho to be uncomfortable and meanwhile etho's worried about /gem/ being uncomfortable

“You know,” Bdubs starts, and Gem can almost picture his expression behind his computer screen — thoughtful, a little sly. “I don’t think they ship me and Etho like they used to.”

Gem’s elbow slips off her desk, her character in-game suddenly looking straight down at the ground, and she can hear the soft exhale of laughter Bdubs lets out, like he’s noticed.

She wonders if she can get away with pretending she never heard, if she can say Winnie got loose and distracted her and, oh, look at the time, she has to go for a thing she promised someone else —

“What are you saying about me?” Etho suddenly asks, his voice in her left ear as he moves closer, and Gem takes her hand off her keyboard to cover her eyes with one palm, face burning as she tries her best to silently beg the universe for mercy.

There’s no such luck.

“Do you remember that lecture I gave you about Dark Twitter?” Bdubs asks, and she can hear it in his voice, how he’s almost laughing, delighted at the opportunity to shit-stir. “Y’know, the shipping stuff that fans do? Pretending that we’re in love.”

Gem’s next best hope is that the ground will open and swallow her. 

“Bdubs,” she warns, because she might not be streaming, but that doesn’t mean that no one else is. Anyone could fly by and catch a snippet of what he’s saying, and she can only imagine the fallout online if that happens.

“It’s fine, Gem. Etho knows all about it, don’t you?”

She’s not worried about Etho.

“I, uh,” Etho starts and she can tell by his tone that he already regrets showing up and interrupting them.

“It’s okay,” Bdubs interrupts. “All you need to know is that Gem’s your new love interest.”

“Gem’s my new what?”

The head of Etho’s character swivels to stare right at her and Gem suddenly finds herself needing to pace in-game, her fingers tapping at the keys nervously as she parkours across the terrain around them.

“I have no idea what he’s talking about,” Gem lies and now Bdubs is staring at her too.

“I mean, it’s not surprising with the amount you two hang out together now. I happened to think the footage of you both digging the tunnel between your bases was cute.”

“Was it?” Gem questions, hoping that acting clueless will save her instead, but Bdubs hums quietly, like she won’t like what’s about to come out of his mouth.

“You keep saying you’re an Ethogirl, right? That you grew up watching him. It’s a cute match-up.”

Gem thinks about pulling the ethernet cable straight out the back of her desktop. It would be easy to blame it on a power-outage.

“I think you’re confusing fact and fiction again,” she mutters and Bdubs laughs.

“Oh, you’re right!” he says, too chipper for his own good. “It sounded like I was suggesting you two date in real life.”

Etho makes a noise, like a grunt of surprise, and Bdubs finally turns his view away from her to stare at him instead.

“Though, I mean, you’re both in Canada, right? It’s not beyond the realm of possibility.”

Bdubs apparently doesn’t know when to quit.

“Have you thought about dating Impulse?” Gem snaps, and Bdubs laughs before she even finishes the thought. “You’re both in the States. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility.”

Even Etho joins in, almost like his laughter slips out without permission. “She’s got you there, Bdubs.”

“If Impulse asked me out, I would be a perfect gentleman,” Bdubs tells them, and Gem has a headache brewing that might put her on the couch for the rest of the day. “How many bases do you think he’d let me round after one date?”

“I’m going,” Gem says suddenly, because if there was ever an out, that’s it. “You two can talk about Bdubs’ romantic exploits, but I have stuff to build.”

Bdubs laughs, but doesn’t try to argue, apparently done with his teasing, and Gem can almost taste freedom.

Until Etho says, “I’m sure a date with Gem wouldn’t be the worst I’ve been on.”

And Gem logs off.

Lolirock

So I recently watched the entirety of Lolirock

And it was... Okayish

The story itself wasn't bad, but a lot of it feels very incomplete.

So let's break down a few points:

Story:

The story itself wasn't too bad. I liked a lot of the ideas. But since this is directed to a younger audience, a lot of story plot was very predictable sadly enough.

And it didn't bother me that much that Iris was in the centerstage most of the time. Unlike later season Bloom, the creators didn't make things that aren't related to Iris about Iris. There were a few moments yes, but I never thought "wait, why is it about Iris, it's not about her!" Unlike (sadly) with Bloom in Winx where she gets the Spotlight for no reason

I do really like the transformation and animations for the princesses. Although I do feel odd about Lyna and Carrisa having different animations and songs. They look good, but since they don't have a similar transformation like Iris, Thalia and Auriana, I feel like it just says that they aren't part of the group. Which is kinda true since they are absent for 75% of the time in season 2. (Fr, where are these two the entire time?)

And I get Iris is the main character and all, but the creators make Talia and Auriana look so useless and weak for most of the time. And then Talia is able to beat their asses on her own, yet struggled to do so five minutes before.

Also Talia is the best, defo my fave from all of them.

Similar to the story: it felt incomplete. Like things aren't being explained:

What's Ephidia? Is it a continent, is it the capital city? Who created it, what's so special about it?

What are the oracle gems exactly? Are they amplifiers or a key, WHAT ARE THEY? and why do they only show up in front of Iris? Is it cus she's the crown princess or why? Who knows: things aren't getting explained.

And how does the magic work? Is it just crystals? Can they use elemental powers as well? We see them use levitation and time spells as well soooooooooo?

And what about Dark magic? Do you have to be born from it, is it an emotion you redirect, how does if work?

And can we talk about Iris's different transformations? They look epic af but.... How? Can only she do it? What exactly is it? Like a different stage or is it a temporary a power up? Can other princesses do them as well or not?

And what exactly is Amaru? A dog, a pegasus? A shapeshifter animal? How does his magic work? Why can he summon a giant battlefield out of nowhere?

And what about the other magic kingdoms? We only saw a tiny bit of Xeris, but what about the others?

I wish they not only explained a little more about the magic, but also showed us more about the magical world. By doing that, it feels more alive, more

hello! I was just wondering, do you have any advice for getting so many gems in Twst? Also thank you for your wonderful art, I enjoy looking forward to see what you draw next :D

Buy them

Just kidding! I've only made one purchase for TWST. It was less than $10 and was way back in the beginning for some kind of deal or something.

My 16k gem stash is the product of two years of grinding and selective pulls. I really wish I could say I had some kind of hack but that's really it. I'll talk about how I approach spending resources in the game, though, if anyone finds that useful.

As per usual, I ramble so it'll be under the cut!

1. Pick a favorite character

HEAR ME OUT I KNOW ITS HARD BECAUSE ALL THE CHARACTERS ARE GREAT! But it helps a lot if you're limiting who you're willing to pull for instead of every pretty card that comes out.

Personally, Riddle is my favorite (+ Grim but he's not really a concern card wise) so I'm committed to getting all of his cards. I'd really hate if I couldn't get one of his cards that I really want because I spent my keys / gems on a card that I only kind of wanted. So that's something to think about if it helps keep things in perspective.

All my Riddles!! (I definitely don't have a favorite Riddle shhh)

For example, I absolutely love Ortho's Fairy Gala card. I think it's one of the prettiest in the game! But I didn't pull for it because Ortho isn't a favorite character of mine.

It works the opposite, too. Kalim, Vil, and Ruggie are among my favorites but I've passed on a lot of their cards for one reason or another. I passed on Tsum Kalim because I didn't like the groovy, I passed on Silk Adorned Vil because I didn't like that it didn't have an attached vignette, and I passed on Camp Vargas Ruggie because I didn't like the event itself. While I really love these characters, I'm picky about which ones I'll pull so I don't miss out on a better one later.

For characters that I like quite a bit (top 5 ish), I'll use their free ten set you get on their birthday to try and pull for them. If I don't get them within those ten pulls, I accept it and move on.

I also want to say that this method has allowed to me to get pretty much every card that I've actually wanted. I can even pull for characters that aren't among my favorites (e.g. Idia who has THE BEST SSRS FOR SOME REASON??) and still have a big gem safety net.

I don't pull super often, I don't think, but I've gotten everything I've wanted so I think it's a fair trade-off.

Given my gem stash, you might be able to get away with collecting for a dorm but it'd have to be one of the tiny ones (Scarabia would be excellent because Jamil has almost no SSRs rip)

2. Plan ahead of time using JP TWST events

One of the biggest advantages of JP TWST releasing events way before Eng TWST is that we know what's coming ahead of time so we can plan accordingly. Obviously, this won't work if you're trying to save gems on the Japanese server.

You'll have to be okay with spoilers for the English server, too. At least enough to know if a character you like is in the event. I like to look at the card art and groovies, personally, as those will influence my decision if I'm on the fence.

I know which cards that I need to save for in the future:

Riddle’s Swimear SR

Ruggie’s Clubwear SSR

Rollo's SSR (pending available keys)

Riddle's Bloomquet SSR

Vil's Luxe Couture SSR

Vil and Malleus's Tsum SSR (pending groovies)

While we don't have a definitive schedule for a lot of these, a lot of them you can kind of guess.

For example, Riddle's Swimwear SR is part of Stitch's event which seems pretty summer-y to me. It'll likely come out in June or July of this year. Clubwear cards come relatively quickly so I'm anticipating Ruggie's Clubwear SSR fairly soon, too. Gotta make sure I'm saving right now for those bad boys.

Rollo and Riddle will probably come around the same time (Aug-Nov) so I've got a bit of time to build up my collection of keys again.

The others just got released in Japan so they'll take awhile before they reach us and I'm not too worried about them just yet.

I think of it like going to the grocery store with a shopping list. Stick to the list and you know you can't overspend!

3. Don't pull for dorm cards

"That's easy for you to say, Cheekin. Riddle is your favorite character and you can get his dorm card for free at the beginning of the game!!"

(Ngl I might've caved and done it for Riddle but ONLY Riddle because he's my fave :D)

Now that all of the dorm uniforms have been released, dorm showcases aren't really a thing but in the event that they do a re-run I would avoid spending keys / gems on them. Same goes for the standard show case. Neither are worth it, IMO.

Dorm uniform cards will always be in the SSR pool regardless of the event, so I think it's better to just take your chances and collect them slowly overtime. Of course, the odds of getting the one you want aren't super high but you'll amass quite a few dorm cards just by pulling for event cards anyways. You're bound to get one you like eventually.

For reference, I've gotten Dorm Idia, Ortho, Vil, Jamil THREE TIMES, Kalim, Azul, Ruggie, Jack, Trey TWICE and Deuce TWICE as a byproduct of pulling for event cards. I wasn't trying to get them but they're here now and I love them for it <3

And that's about it! Nothing too groundbreaking. The biggest thing is knowing when to stop. Sometimes when I'm on that gacha grind high and I want to pull just cause it's been awhile since I've gotten an SSR, I'll tell myself to do it later because 99% of the time I'll just forget and it'll never happen!

I have been burned by too many gacha games in the past that I refuse to let it happen to me again in TWST (cough Obey Me COUGH)

Here are all my SSRs so you can judge for yourself how effective it is. (Or if its worth it)

I genuinely have no clue what the average number of SSR's a player who has been playing for over 2 years like me has, but I'm comfortable with what I've got. I've gotten all the cards I've wanted and most of the cards I was interested in so I think it's worth it.

tldr: be selective about your pulling, plan ahead, and resist the urge to pull constantly

I started playing 'What in Hell is Bad', it's basically an 18+ version of 'Obey Me' and yea this game is spicy.

Anyway, big surprise, out of all the sexy demons I've interacted with so far, two of them I've done the sideways tango with, my favorite character is this guy

Who's not even a demon. He's the childhood best friend character.

But plot wise he takes care of the MC before the whole demon thing, knows how to cook, and I'm pretty sure was ready to search through the entire world to find them when they had to take and extended visit to Hell.

What more could you want in a man? A decent dic— according to MC he has that too so check mate.

I just finished chapter one, and can I just say this game is hard, in every sense of the word.

It's a new game by a smaller developer so it's full of bugs but I've heard the devs do try their best to patch them ASAP so I don't hold that against them. Aside from my boy Satan not hitting water enemies, even though devs said they patched that a few updates ago, it's mostly QoL improvements that can be made to make the game just overall more enjoyable including but not limited to:

A pity system? Maybe? I don't know if this game has pity or not on their gacha machines and if they do I'd like to know how screwed I am because I have no self-control and have been doing single pulls on the hot boy gacha instead of saving up and doing 10-pulls so I wanna know if it's better to do 10-pulls or if it literally makes no difference because I just go until I hit pity like in arknights.

Skipping the cut scene that plays when you gacha because I swear that's one of the main reasons you can't play this game in public no matter how discreet you try to be lmao

Opening multiple chests at once and levelling up multiple times in one go because as far as I know, right now you need to click one by one for both of these.

Maybe a thing where it just takes you to the part of the story you're currently in instead of making you click through chapter select and scrolling to it.

A shortcut button to the gacha screen, secret club, and dark sanctuary (resource grind stages). They're core aspects of the game yet you can't get to them without going through the home screen.

Auto deploy and auto play for the resource grinding stages

Setting an L-rank character (side note, it's really funny that the highest rank of cards is rank 'L') as your homescreen boi is really awkward because it always ends up zoomed in on one part so you can't actually see the full boi.

This last one I feel like is just a personal thing but why is it three red keys per single pull for the hot boy gacha? Three just feels like such a random number lmao. Ig they mostly want you to use the red gems, which are grind-able to some extent, to buy the keys from the store.

Overall tho, I enjoy it. I like the tower defense like combat system and being able to move units around is actually pretty fun. So yea give it a try, see if it's your cup of tea.

It was supposed to be a simple afternoon—well simple for the average group, due to them all hunting down the potions and stuff to stop the tide coming their way. A wicked protection spell.

You know save the day and explore that kinda thing?

So in response they were all sent a little goose chase and hunt for it at the docks.

It was good, they found the hidden gems and a piece of the puzzle to make the potion for later. Even broke half of the curse, destroying the spell, thanks to Liane, Joshua and Bella—restoring memories back for everyone. Yay, everything is safe and sound.

Just as things were going well at the docks with everyone talking and deciding to go back to the town square, Mia felt something off. She gripped Nikolai’s bicep and winced slightly.

“Love, are you alright?” He asked softly placing a hand on her lower back for support.

Mia chuckled awkwardly, “Eh, he he, well, either that was a Braxton Hick or a real one…”

“You’re a two weeks early, t-that’s not possible.” He replied in surprise, his tone sounding calm despite him internally freaking out.

“Yeah, well, since when have your children ever been one to surprise us by coming late?” She added jokingly.

Ethan, who was walking with Liane, looked up noticing his friends in distress. He knew his question would sound stupid, yet he still asked, “Are you guys alright?”

“You’re about to be an uncle again.” Mia murmured before clearing her throat once the contractions left and smiled in relief.

“Oh shit! I’mma be uncle again, I wasn’t there the first time around and now I am! This is exciting news—”

He was swiftly cut off by Nikolai who chuckled, “Uh Ethan, buddy, can you help me get everyone in the cars? Mia, where are the keys?”

Liane gasped, “You let her pregnant ass drive us to the docks?! Have you no shame?!”

“No! We took her car and I drove us here, I gave her the keys for safe keeping afterwards!”

“That still doesn’t make sense to me! You got magic and you couldn’t drive yourself!?”

“My car is getting fixed at Tony’s shop! We did needed another form of transportation here, and I will have you know I drive pretty well.”

Liane grinned, “Well in that case I’m driving! Me and the kids in one car. Ethan, Nik and Mia in the other. To the hospital people! Chop chop!”

The blonde sounded way too confident and overly proud of herself with that statement.

Everyone else looked at her like she was nuts. Yes, they were all vastly skilled in their respective fields but they all had their weaknesses. Everyone and their mother knew that Liane wasn’t the best driver per se.

Ethan loved his wife too much to say anything about it, as he was too busy in shock that Liane snatch the keys out of his hand. Joshua rolled his eyes and groaned at the idea, rubbing his mother’s shoulder in comfort. Even he was a better player in driving someone around.

Nikolai whined knowing it wasn’t the best idea to have the blonde drive both teenagers around to the hospital.

The only one truly brave enough in the chaos at the moment, despite being awakened by the curse to speak up was youngest lady there.

“Absolutely not!” Belladonna exclaimed snatching the keys out of her mom’s hands. “Are we really going to listen to her? Josh back me up here!”

Liane gasped in offensive frustration, “Um excuse you, young lady, but who do you think you’re talking to, sweetie?”

“Mom, I love you, but unfortunately you’re not the best driver.”

“I’m an experienced and excellent driver, sweetie.”

Bella muttered under her breath, “Yeah, when we were cursed and under that damn spell…”

“BELLA?!” Liane screamed in shock and gasped. “My own daughter this is—”

Joshua sighed speaking up, “Aunt Lia, she’s got a point. Last week you decided to give an another driving lesson and crash into a mailbox.”

Liane eyes widen and scoffed, “Well if I ever…it was one time!”

Joshua smirked, “It happened more than once. Also I think I should drive.”

“Him?!” Ethan yelled putting stuff in the car and bumping his head against the trunk.

“You?!” Liane added dramatically, “You’re both children you don’t even have you—”

Bella smirked as well nudging for Joshua to pull out his drivers permit, as he showed it to the others. Liane’s jaw dropped as Ethan blinked. Nikolai was rubbing his wife’s back and snickered at their reactions. He was proud.

“Since when did you-?!” Liane yelled breaking the silence.

“Back in New York, I got it.” Joshua added simply, a hint of confidence in his tone.

Bella couldn’t help but crack a smile and tease him, “Yeah, sure, it took him almost 6 months but he got it..”

Soon enough, different set of bickering broke out between the 5 of them.

“They are both babies they aren’t drive!”

“Liane not the time!”

“I can’t believe you decided to tell us now, Ethan?!”

“What you yelling at me for?!”

“I don’t know, it just feels right to yell.”

“Oh my god..”

“Are you sure we can’t all just drive together in one car?”

“Not a bad idea…out of both of us, who was the biggest space?”

“Idiot, how would that work, Nikolai?”

“I’m brainstorming, shut up.”

“Cause you guys stop fighting please? It’s not helping. I can take us three there, while Ethan gets there first.”

“Joshua, you’re a child!”

“I’m 17!”

“It was worth a shot, Bella…”

“Just let me drive!”

“Bella, please, the adults are talking.”

“You don’t even the slightest directions to the hospital!”

“THERE IS GPS FOR A REASON!”

“Shouldn’t we just call an ambulance?”

Mia finally shouted over everyone, “GUYS!”

“What?!” They all yelled back.

She sighed pointing to herself in a sing song tone, as if stating the obvious. “Hello.” She added hands on her hips for added effect.

The group was silent before getting the hint all making “ohhh!” and “ah, oh yeah, right.”, along with a bunch of apologies being given by the others. She couldn’t help but roll her eyes and smile despite the mild pain she felt, coming and going.

Ethan spoke up as they followed the lead to the cars and asked, “Wait, wait, who’s driving?”

“I am!” Liane added, as if it was obvious.

She quickly got a bunch of objections and heads being shook in disagreement over her statement. Some rapidly shouted, “NO!”

Nikolai put a hand on his wife’s shoulder in silent support and turn to the group firmly, “Ethan’s driving us, Joshua’s driving you guys.”

“Yes!” Joshua exclaimed happily as him and Bella fist bumped.

Bella called shotgun and scurried over to the car.

Liane opened her mouth to speak wondering if Nikolai was serious or not, but one firm look from the brunette and she shut up completely.

Soon enough they all arrive to the hospital, Joshua was left to park both cars as Ethan and Liane helped Mia into a wheelchair.

Nikolai was filling out forms when he noticed their friends all there. He stood there in shock, “What hell-? How did you guys—when did you guys get here?”

Michelle smiled sitting in one of the waiting chairs, “You really think we would miss this? Dude, it’s my nieces being born. Plus it’s gives me a chance to give Alexander the middle finger if he arrives.”

“I—But I didn’t call you! No one texted you.”

Bella smirked looking up from her phone, “Oh, when Josh was driving I texted Michelle. Figured she would like to know, but I didn’t expect her to come.”

Rochelle rushed in from one of the hospital rooms and smiled, “Oh hey! You’re here, that’s great, well me and Luna were already here anyway when Michelle called me.”

Mia, who was sitting in the wheelchair rubbing her backside, was about to ask what happened when the loud screams were heard down the hall. They belonged to Rick. Along with the insults.

“Long story short, Ricky got hurt earlier while experimenting on something with the kids..” Rochelle added, “He’ll be fine.”

Bella and Mia both rolled their eyes as Nikolai stayed quiet shaking his head.

Just before anyone could anything a cloud of magical thick smoke appeared. As the smoke cleared away, it showed Cole looking annoyed, angry and worried. The man was enjoying a peaceful afternoon in his shop, with his husband Jeremy while babysitting the children, when he got the damn news. He was in the middle of teaching one of his nephews, George, some cool spells! So he wasn’t happy.

Liane froze meanwhile Ethan signed looking at his brother.

“You should’ve call me!” Cole exclaimed loudly rushing over to the group. “Why did I just get a damn text from Bella that my angels are coming?! You idiots, you could’ve just call me instead of arguing over who gets the bloody keys?! UGH!”

“Cole, we can explain.” Liane started but was cut off.

“Ha! Please tell you didn’t drive, last week you hit my mailbox.”

“THAT WAS YOURS?!”

Ethan and Michelle snorted loudly but was stopped short by a glare from Cole.

Rochelle stay quiet running away to go check on Rick and Luna, not wanting to feel Cole’s wrath today. The redhead almost bumped into a wall rushing away from the group.

Besides Rick yelled, “WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON OUT THERE?!”

Luna shouted over him, “Ricky stay still! The doctor is trying to remove the nails and splinters!”

Cole looked at Nikolai and pointed, “And you! What were you thinking?! As her husband I would believe you would have some sense to inform me or not waste time—”

Nikolai raised both eyebrows and furrow his eyebrows, “Don’t even start with me! I was more focused on my wife than calling anyone. None of us expected this to happen and we would’ve gotten here sooner, if it wasn’t for Liane’s performance.”

Liane gasped, “Me?! I offered to drive but you all refused to take me seriously.”

Bella and Ethan shared a look, slowly wheeling Mia away from the group and into her hospital room. Michelle got the hint, scurry off to follow them into the hallway as well, not without snapping pictures for blackmail later.

Joshua walked in a few minutes later, after successfully parking both cars, seeing his father, aunt and uncle Cole fighting.

“What did..?” He started before being dragged away by his best friend, “Gah, son of—!”

“Come on I’ll explain later.” Bella remarked ushering him into the room.

“Bella what did you do?!”

Hello!! I'm in love with your artstyle (especially the way you did the signature spells??? I've been looking at them for a while adsgfdfsf, they look like movie posters tbh and that's fricking cool to me. anyway!! I'm a player on the NA server (btw, I've already seen spoilers of chap 7 due to tumblr/reddit/pinterest, so yeah it's not the most spoiled I've ever been so yea) and yeah. I'm getting through the story okay but do you have any advice for people trying to get through certain events with a more limited life schedule??? (gonna answer out of order because the event stuff turned into a huge block of text, sorry!)

I've seen a few of the localizations, but I don't know a lot about the Eng version, so I can't speak too much about differences. (I do think "housewarden" has a better sound to it than "dorm leader" though...they need a fancy little word to match their fancy little outfits.) I did look up the unique magic/signature spells to see if they were able to somehow work in the glossing -- I'm not even sure how you would localize that without it being super weird, so I don't blame them, but I was a little sad anyway! :( in Japanese, they're all written as Japanese phrases with the English as ruby text, and sometimes they're given a little extra meaning. like -- this is where the episode 7 spoilers I'm tagging are) the words that Mal says are "Fae of Maleficence":

but the meaning of the Japanese is "Blessing", which is a nice little "ooooh" moment given the context of it!

there isn't always an extra meaning, sometimes it's just. super literal. but my other favorite is Jack's, where what he means is "✨howl that pierces the moonlit night✨", but what he actually yells is "UNLEASH BEAST" before turning into a giant dog. what a good boy.

as for event advice (under the cut, because this was already getting long)...

speaking as someone who is 100% F2P and therefore also tends to get kind of burnt by some of these events -- the #1 most important thing is to just...make peace with not getting everyone. :') I am a collector-type person, so it definitely gets grating when I can't have all the fancy PNGs my little packrat heart desires. generally though: never do random pulls, always be saving your keys and gems between events. (once a month you can buy a 10-set from Sam for a 50 gem discount, and logging in on a character's birthday will give you a 10-set for free, so make sure to do those!). when the event info starts coming out, pick one or two cards that you really want and work specifically towards those, focusing on grinding out the items and/or using your saved-up pulls on their specific banner. and in the end, accept that it might just not be meant to be, even if you hit the 100-pull pity SSR no I'm not still bitter over fairy gala Ortho why do you ask. if the event doesn't have any cards that you really want, take it as an opportunity to save for the next one!

hoard your star fragments (the things that restore AP) -- if you're going for a card that requires grinding event items to permanently unlock, and the item is one you get from lessons, you can use star fragments to bump your AP up to 30 at a time (10 is the limit that will restore over time, but 30 is the max you can have at once). that makes for a looong lesson loop, but I usually get about 50-60 items per 30 lessons, and I just let it run in the background while doing other stuff. (usually these items are what also unlock the event story, so I'll do a huge amount of lessons first thing and then have enough to get the whole story at once. 👍) it can get really grindy, but events go on for a while so it's not usually that bad if you space it out a bit, instead of waiting until the last minute to try and get those last 600 items (cough) (cough).

if it's one of the ones where you get the item from doing a rhythmic, you get the same amount of items no matter how well you do, even if you miss every note. so you can just...tap occasionally to restart it and get the same effect. if it's a battle one, you do have to actually win to get the item, but once you figure out the sweet spot of a team setup + highest battle level where you win every time, it becomes basically the same deal.

so...yeah, tl;dr you can get away with a lot just by setting things up to run in the background and paying just enough attention to tap through some of the menus. it does require a certain amount of time to just leave your phone while still sorta-kinda paying attention to it, so it might not work for everyone, but that's the best way I've found to get through most events!

Question: When it comes to Twisted Wonderland, how is it that people seem to have lots of SSR cards? Where are they getting all the gems from??? Admittedly I'm F2P and have only had the game for 3 months but even playing daily it feels like I barely make 150 gems a week.

ahhh. well. i am one of those people yes i have 37 ssrs jesus and while there are a few things that contribute some of it really is just either from luck or being a whale. It also helps that pity on banners does not reset when you pull an SSR even if it's the one on rate up. I got 2 copies of Scary Monsters Jade without hitting pity and those pulls still counted toward the pity total, so while you can get spooked you can't really loose.

When it comes to gems/building a stash the number one thing I cannot stress enough is to buy the 10 key in Sam's shop for 250 gems at the start of each month. A normal pull is 300 gems, so this helps you build your stash even if it feels like it's not. Logging in on birthdays gets you a free 10 key (unless it's the twin's birthday then you get two) The exam token shop and all event shops (including the crowley token shop that's up right now) have single keys you should invest in. I had 40 (if not more) by the time I was rolling for Clubwear Floyd and that was just from saving event keys, and I am at 20 right now.

You've only been playing for a bit, so don't put too much pressure on yourself to have a really built up account. This is the wiki I use to keep up to date on stuff, I'm not the greatest at team building ;-; so I won't be able to help with questions like that but I did clear some space on my friends list recently. If you feel the need for a particular SSR just ask, I might have it or something you can use to beat content that's not in book 6

Okay, the great Seven have decide to look down on me and give this poor unfortunate soul a grand blessing

Let me explain where I’m going with this. 3 days ago in the masquerade encore, I saved up a bunch of keys and gems so I could play the showcase for Jamil and Malleus (Jamil I love you, but I wanted that Malleus card) and bout almost 50 pulls later, I got him.

Then the next day is our boy Riddle’s birthday. I still have the left gems and keys from Mal’s draws, so I figure, why not? Maybe lightening can strike twice. So I go to the first birthday showcase it sent me to (Birthday Bloom)

To make the long story shorter, 28 pulls and I’m out of keys and gems and call it quits.

So to bring us to now, I was debating using my gems on spellbook bundles, so I check the dates of the showcases for which will end first, then so get one more key from the stamp guide, I figure, why not one more try?

So, I play a single key.

No Grim. A single raven feather. I wait for my common boy. Then, it happens

The mirror says a phrase I never seen (Something about darkness, can’t remember) the gate with the fancy SSR design on appears, it opens and it’s glowing deep red.

A Heartslabyul character. At this moment I’m holding my breath (Also to keep from shouting and waking up the other in the house as this happened at 3:37 in the morning) I tell myself there are at least 5 possible Heartslabyul boys, don’t get you hopes up girl.

fWhip tired every excuse he had in his sleeves but there was no reasoning with Gem. “Come on sis, I'll be fine, like literally no one ever recognises me…” he did still try though. Gem might be impossible to convince but fWhip could argue with her the whole day long.

“No,” she said sternly as she turned to poke her finger onto his chest. “You'll listen, and you'll stay with Scott until me and Jimmy catch whoever's targeting the former arena champions,” she could be pretty scary if she wanted to.

“Come on Gem, I can take care of myself, I don't need some pompous prick looking after me,” fWhip rolled his eyes. This was getting ridiculous in his eyes.

“He's not looking after you, he's the current champion, therefore also a potential target. Both of you are under constant watch,” Gem finally seemed to see fit to say he'd be stuck with the person who probably liked him less than the killer did. “I'll sooner eat my hat than let anything happen to you,” she finished with one last poke and marched on. fWhip had no excuse to not follow. He could just hope the killer would be caught quickly.

“Why are you hiding us at the arena? Wouldn't whoever's looking for Scott just come right here?” fWhip questioned, hoping Scott wasn't there yet.

“Wouldn't whoever's looking for you two assume we hid you away from the arena? Besides, it's just the meeting spot and I wasn't the one who came up with it,” Gem's response didn't feel fWhip with confidence in Council’s decision making process.

Seeing Jimmy, his freaking ex, member of the council, head of law enforcement, talking to Scott. Whom fWhip only knew from TV and posters. Had his confidence sinking even lower. Of course he had to have been dragged out from work, in very casual clothes, when he had to meet Jimmy for the first time since the break up.

And not to mention Scott was like the walking image of the perfect champion. With his perfect form fitting trousers. Did they have to be so tight? Thigh high boots. Why the heel? You're tall enough you pompous prick, fWhip thought as he eyed his successor. The perfectly fitted blazer and stupidly perfect, soft looking bar. And his stupidly perfect, handsome face?

Next to him fWhip looked like some vagrant. With his heavy boots and loose jeans with more holes than they had when he brought them. Not to mention the old tank top and how messy his hair was. Not that it was ever properly styled for more than five minutes. All in varying shades of black and dark red. Well, save for his cyan hoodie that painfully matched Scott's hair. Sleeves rolled up even if it was barely hanging on around his elbows, exposing the shimmering tattoos on his arms. And he had his glasses on and likely looked low-key like a bit of a nerd. Which he was but it didn't mean he wanted to look too much like one.

And of course Gem instantly started talking to Jimmy about how to best get them to the hiding spot they prepared. Leaving fWhip to awkwardly stand next to Scott. Whose unfair tallness was even more apparent up close.

“So you are still alive,” Scott huffed with what had to be disdain in his voice.

“What? Disappointed you didn't win the title from me?” fWhip bit back, doing his best to match vitriol Scott spoke with even if he personally didn really care how Scott felt about him just stepping down with no fight.

“Maybe at the start I was, but now I don't really care,” Scott seemed to shrug and fWhip just tensed a bit more, kind of ready for a fight.

“That's good because I'm not fighting anyone, ever again,” he huffed just to have the last word. And thanks to Gem and Jimmy moving in to explain their elaborate plan he did.

The plan was that four cars with Council agents disgusted with illusions to look like them would leave first. With a car with real them leaving a bit later. Scott and fWhip just nodded as Jimmy spoke. Then they would be practically on house arrest in a secret safe house somewhere in the city.

“And how long are we expected to stay there?” Scott asked what fWhip was thinking.

“Until we catch the guy,” Jimmy's answer only had fWhip groan in annoyance.

“Come on Jim, some of us have actual jobs they have to go to,” he grumbled. He didn't really believe this was the first thing he said to Jimmy since.

“We informed your job you'll be unavailable for the foreseeable future, they agreed to mark it as a vacation without taking any of your days off away,” of course Gem had an explanation for everything.

fWhip just huffed out an annoyed puff of smoke. Perks of fire magic. You can breathe smoke at anyone who annoys you. Like a twin sister or ex boyfriend. Or icy, pompous prick. “Let's just get this over with then,” he grumbled.

Jimmy and Gem then left to coordinate the decoys and fWhip was left alone with Scott. And several guards who were probably there to make sure they didn't run away.

“They probably don't have a plan in case the killer finds us anyway,” Scott said in a hushed tone. At least he looked a bit worried.

“Knowing Jim? Absolutely,” fWhip huffed. “I guess we can try to knock them out or something,” he shrugged.

“I was about to say you better stick close to me in case it happens,” Scott rolled his eyes.

“Why? I can protect myself.”

“Didn't you say you didn't want to fight anyone ever again?” Scott's expression was too serious for fWhip to even attempt reading it as a dig at him. Bastard was totally serious. And it was pretty nice of him to offer.

“Well, I'll fight if my life depends on it, duh,” he rolle dnia eyes but quickly added, “but I appreciate the thought,” to not look like a complete jerk. It wasn't Scott's fault Gem and Jimmy decided to get them stuck together.

They spend the rest of the wait awkwardly standing there in silence. fWhip holding onto his bad. Scott just standing like an ice statue.

The drive wasn't any more exciting. Just the silent in the back seat as he agents drove. They weren't even playing the radio so talk about awkward silence.

The safehouse was a pretty nice suburban home with tall fence and electric gate.

“Leave the key in the car, remote for gate and garage too,in case we have to get away quickly,” Scott told the agents. They tried to argue but fWhip backe dthe idea up. At least the two of them had some braincells in this whole operation.

The rest of the day was pretty boring. There was no TV in the house. No radio. No internet. They were not allowed to turn their phones on since they turned them off at the arena. At least there were cards and board games so they had something to do until it was time to sleep. fWhip really hoped Gem and Jimmy would catch the killer soon. He was going to go crazy if he had to keep this up for too long.

At least Scott seemed to be equally bored and annoyed by the time they separated to get ready for bed. Annoyingly enough, no one thought to get them a change of clothes. Scott had to be real comfy in his outfit, fWhip thought. He himself was totally fine sleeping in his jeans. In case anyone attacked at night.

He was almost sleep when someone sneaked into his room. “Off the bed, stay low and quiet,” Scott whispered as he shook fWhip. “I think we've been found. I heard commotion, and new voices,” he explained as fWhip follows his instructions, dragging his bag with him.

“Think we can't get to the car?” fWhip asked, focusing his hearing. He heard nothing. Scott's room was closer to the front of he house.

“Can you drive?” Scott asked back.

“Yes. You don't?”

“Everyone was pushing me to focus on magic training,” Scott sighed. “If we get out of here alive I'll go and learn, we need to move,” he hissed, pulling fWhip to the window. There were barley audible footsteps outside the door

Scott seemed to have it all figured out as he left his window open. So they could sneak back in. They assumed whoever the intruders were already searched that room. And they were right. The door just closed as they dared sneak in.

They waited a bit by the door listening for footsteps, ready to fight. But no one came in. When they heard doors open and close the peeked out. Clear. So they quickly and quietly made their way to garage.

“Once we're out turn my phone out and call Gem,” fWhip said tossing his back in Scott's lap. Garage door and front gate already opening as h started the car. He didn't really have time to bother with seatbelts at the moment.

“Got it,” Scott nodded. “Head down,” he added as he started looking for fWhip's phone.

fWhip ducked enoug to still see the road and drove them out quietly, as to not alarm anyone in the house. Idiots didn't leave anyone outside.

“She's ‘twinny’ in my contacts,” fWhip said without Scott needing to ask.

Scott nodded and called Gem. No answer. Was she in trouble too? Did someone mess with the signal? “What now?” Scott grumbled, looking back. Yup, they were being pursued already.

“The arena? At least there's space there, just in case, keep trying to call her,” fWhip sighed. Of course they couldn't contact help.

The arena looked creepy at night. “To the center,” fWhip said, ready to be exhausted and in a lot of pain the next day. He hated physical exercise.

Which was clear when he started running out of breath about halfway. Scott just grumbles something and the next second fWhip was over his shoulder, carried like a sack of potatoes. “Oi, I'm not that tired,” fWhip huffed but his lungs were saying otherwise. He was not getting out of bed tomorrow.

“Shut up and tell me if they're getting too close,” Scott huffed and ran possibly even faster than before. Was fWhip's lack of condition holding him back? Show off.

The arena center instantly illuminated as soon as they walked in. “Well well well, council really saved us some work putting both the last and present champions together,” a voice laughed as fWhip tried to recall how to breathe once sat in the sand.

“And you are?” Scott called out, ice covering the door they got in through. And generally covering them as a shield from any potential attacks from outside the arena.

The person didn't seem to like it. “You insolent little… No. It doesn't matter if you know, you'll both die tonight anyway, and tomorrow I'll be the champion,” they cackled as fWhip and Scott exchanged stares and shrugs.

“Can't you just challenge me normally?” Scott asked and fWhip instantly knew what he was doing. Buying time. So fWhip hid as much as he could behind him and tried sending a text to Gem. It got through. ‘Been got, at the arenaz whole organization, Scott's distracting the leader’ he sent, once he knew it would work. Now they had to just wait.

“What? You think you can win against me? You'll freeze before you can,” the man in charge scoffed.

“I don't think he will,” fWhip grinned and snapped his fingers. Instantly the outer edge of the arena burst in flames. He was starting to get chilly from Scott's ice surrounding them anyway. “Go crazy,” he chuckled, patting Scott's back.

And go crazy Scott did. The few times fWhip saw him fight, even if just on the TV at the tattoo shop he worked at now, he didn't see Scott pull out maneuvers and spells this crazy. It was honestly pretty impressive. But it also meant he had to put effort into keeping the flames going.

At the end of the fight, when the leader got knocked out Scott still had some frost on his hands and face and his breath came out with puffs of cold.

And it would seem Gem got everyone into gear as fast as she could and every member of the mysterious organization present got caught.

“You okay?” fWhip asked, sitting next to Scott. Gem and Jimmy had everything else handled now.

“I think so,” Scott nodded with a clearly forced smile. “Could use a blanked,” he joked, that fWhip knew. But he still cradled his stupidly pretty face in his hands. Melting the ice build up on there

“No you're not, you're bleeding,” fWhip sighed and used a trick not even Gem knew he had. Long time ago he figured out he could heal small scrapes with his flames. And used it now on Scott. “Not a word to anyone,” he grinned, not mentioning Scott's hands coming up to lay on his as he still held ice pricks face.

“Fine, but I'm buying you coffee tomorrow, it'd be a much more troublesome fight without you here,” Scott countered with a genuine smile.

“Uhum, I hate to break the moment but I'll need you two to get up and see the medics,” Gem interrupted, arms crossed over her chest. She might have looked annoyed but fWhip knew she was glad they were fine.

“Yeah yeah,” fWhip sighed and got up, and offered a hand to Scott but he didn't need it, already up before fWhip. He just rolled his eyes and dutifully went to see the medics even if he was totally fine.

Medics didn't hold them long, quickly declaring them good to go home. At least some good news. Now, how does he get home at this hour…

“My place isn't too far and I have a free guest bedroom if you don't feel like being alone after all that,” Scott offered as fWhip wondered how to get to his apartment. “And I can add breakfast to that coffee,” he added with the most awkward smile fWhip ever saw.

“You know what, sure, it'd be a pain for me to get to my place anyway,” fWhip shrugged and once Jimmy cleared them as free to leave the scene. They walked to Scott's.

It was indeed not at all far away. And pretty cozy for a high rise, luxury apartment. The guest bed was damn comfy too. Not that fWhip could sleep at all. Even after a shower and changing into comfier clothes Scott lent him he kept tossing and turning as his brain wondered what would happen if Scott didn't come for him.

“Damn it,” fWhip muttered and decided Scott probably wouldn't mind if he makes himself some tea.

To his shock Scott was already in the kitchen, sipping on some tea. Looking exhausted. “Can't sleep too?” He asked with a weak smile.

fWhip nodded. “Can't stop my brain from thinking,” he sighed and glanced at the kitchen.

“Go for it,” Scott nodded and yawned.

fWhip thought for a second and decided that it was too late for tea. “I have a better idea if you're willing to listen,” he offered. Scott nodded so he continued. “We can just sleep in one bed, might calm our brains to have someone else there, but feel free to refuse I won't be offended,” he quickly rambled out.

Scott blinked a few times as he processed what fWhip had just said. Then he looked at his tea, grimaced and nodded. “We can at least try,” he agreed.

In all honesty, until they were together in Scott's bed fWhip didn't really process that sharing a bed entailed them both being in it. At once. And that Scott only had shorts and a t-shirt on, same as fWhip. But once the initial shock passed it was shockingly easy to fall asleep like that. Staring at Scott's face. It was really nice up close, okay.

fWhip woke up, mildly confused, with something cold touching him. Cracking one eye open he got met with a mess of cyan hair. Scott, his brain supplied as he remembered last night. The current magic arena champion, his successor even if they never fought each other, was cuddling up to fWhip. They were in his bed. Some crazy group tried killing them last night.

Who would have thought the ice prince would be cuddly in the morning, fWhip smiled to himself as he just let Scott cuddle him. Who knew if he ever got a chance to share a bed with Scott again.

Not that he got a long time with the cuddles. Scott soon started to stir awake and abruptly sat up once he realized he was cuddling fWhip and not his mass of pillows of varying sizes and shapes.

“Morning,” fWhip yawned, stretching slightly but did not even try to get up.

Scott looked at him with wide eyes. “Morning,” he said, whole face red in embarrassment. “I should have mentioned I can get grabby…” he sighed.

“Don't worry about it, I don't mind,” fWhip waved it off.

That didn't seem to convince Scott. “We should go get breakfast…” he muttered and fWhip sighed.

“Or it can wait and you can cuddle more if you want, I really don't mind he offered with a grin. Scott was absolutely adorable when not putting up the champion persona.

“Really?” He asked and fWhip nodde. In like two seconds Scott was once more cuddled up to him. “You're warm…” he sighed.

“Yeah, I know,” fWhip nodded. Mission success he thought.

In the end neither of them felt like cooking so they went out for brunch. It was a bit late to call it breakfast. Scott took them to a place that, in his words, had best blueberry pancakes in town. Couple bites in fWhip was inclined to agree.

Or maybe he was enjoying spending time with Scott when he wasn't dressed as champion but instead in baby blue cardigan, beige slacks and tenis shoes. Who knew. He'd have to come by couple more times to really decide. Coffee was pretty good too.

“So what now? We just go back to living like we used to?” Scott asked, poking his pancakes with a fork.

fWhip shrugged. “I certainly wouldn't mind having pancakes with you again,” he grinned, hoping he read Scott's intentions correctly. “Or cuddling again,” he added as Scott blushes a little, making him blush harder.

“That would be amazing,” Scott nodded with the cutest smile ever.

fWhip was about to offer they exchange numbers when, “aren't you two adorable?” Gem was suddenly next to their table. “Media will certainly love you two going out more.”

“Any news of what that organisation was?” fWhip ak

Sked to move the topic off of personal topics.

“No clue, they all suddenly died while in police custody, but that's Jimmy's problem. He's gonna be so salty his exes got together while he struggles to try asking Tango out for coffee,” she grinned and fWhip groaned. Of course.

“You and Jimmy? Wow,” Scott whistled.

“Ditto,” fWhip rolled his eyes but could see what Scott meant. fWhip never looked like someone who'd date a cop.

“I'll leave you two to your flirting, but next time let me know before gossip radio channels do, okay?” Gem sighed and left with a wave.

Scott groaned. fWhip just nodded. Media was one of the top reasons he quit being the champion. “Media's why I don't hate you for just stepping down,” Scott explained with a deep sigh.

fWhip hummed and passed his phone to Scott. “Put your number in and maybe I'll agree to a friendly spar. But only because it's you,” he grinned. Scott instantly perked up at that.
