Weekly Round-up December 4th
What I tried this week:
This week I ordered from Flip for the first time. They had a great promo code for Cyber week plus they always offer 1 or 2 free items depending on your order amount and these are not cheap items. My order total was $80 which came to $48 after the discount. My free item was $95 (this was not included in the discount total).
If you have not heard of Flip I highly recommend it, you automatically earn a 30 percent discount by watching videos (product reviews) and you can earn money on the app by reviewing products. Here is my referral link, this starts you out with $30 off your purchases. I’ll be honest the $30 is not a straight $30 it is a part of the 30 percent discount and there is some confusing math that goes on here but it helps.
Makeup:
Nars Dragon Girl - It’s a stick matte. The formula dried very quickly but was very comfortable throughout the day. It did not budge and did not leave behind lipstick on my drinks. The color is described as a vivid siren red. I would agree.
About Face Sad Girl - This formula wasn’t as smooth as I would have liked. The color is bright and bold. I bought it for the water line although I am now curious about how it will look on the lid. I paired this with Danessa Myricks Beauty Infinite Chrome Waterproof Micropencil Eyeliner Lemon Quartz - I am a sucker for a shift and this was absolutely stunning. I was in mid to bright light so it looked sort of gold/a little green. In low light, it had a more of a bronzy gold color to it. Both looked beautiful with Sad Girl.
Valentino Magnificent Smudgeproof Volumizing Mascara - This is the first mascara I’ve liked as much as Better Than Sex. Maybe better than. All I know is I keep grabbing it. I will say it is smudge-proof but not waterproof. I had to put some eyedrops in and it ran for miles so through a waterproof top coat on when wearing this if you have allergies.
Youthforia BYO Blush - I tried it. I gotta say it’s pretty cute. It’s gimmicky for sure but who doesn’t love a gimmick every once in a while? It’s buildable and fun. Do I have colors that suit me better? Sure. But If I want to go with a pop of pink, this one will be my go-to.
Naked Sundays Glow + Go Hydrating Lip Oil SPF 50+ - I am absolutely obsessed with lip products. This one is so good. The applicator is fuzzy but flexible so it just feels really nice when you put it on. This lip oil sits nicely on top of the lip and takes a long time to soak in. It is non-sticky and feels very hydrating. Plus it has the added bonus of having SPF which we need for our lips too.
Skincare:
Karying TXA Serum - I recently went through some stressful times and my skin flipped the fuck out with hormonal acne. Thankfully that has subsided but it has left hyperpigmentation behind. This product has been able to make a noticeable difference just over the past few days. I can’t wait to see what it does over the next few weeks.
Fitness:
Lit Method Axis - I do this along with Supernatural Fitness. I feel like it’s a good compliment to my regular routine. I will be honest though, I am slightly disappointed that they do not have an Android app at this time. Their site says nothing about being iOS only and I feel like that is something that they should tell people. I contacted their CS about the app situation and they said that Android is coming this month. So for now they are just basic bands.
What I received this week:
Droplette - Super excited to start using this but I need to wait for my iPad.
Oneskin - Waiting for until I start using Droplette.
Pat McGrath - lipsticks and balms. I will be using these next week. So excited. Elson might just be the most prettiest red I’ve seen in real life.
Melt Cosmetics - Four Twenty Palette, some Lipsticks, and a lip pencil. This stuff came from a Black Friday Surprise box. It was an excellent deal for $25.
Nabla - Cutie Palette #6 Midnight and #7 Analogue. These were from the Trendmood Black Friday box.
What I ordered this week:
Perricone MD - Growth Factor Firming & Lifting Eye Serum $36.00 through GMA Deals. If you are a beauty junkie I recommend checking this site daily. Your wallet will thank you.
Violette_FR - Bisou Balm - again no deal. This one was because Facebook advertising has got my number. They are advertising all these lipstick balms to me and this one looks to be the best one. So much so that I paid full price which is really rare.
Sephora - Augustinus Bader The Essence and Fenty Skin Plush Puddin Lip Mask with Pomegranate Sterols + Vitamin E. The total came to $96.99 with the 20% code going on right now.
Beauty Pass Luxury Review Box - $269 - This box has everything you will need for the year and then some. I had been wanting an advent calendar and I decided this was way better because it has 37 (full size) products in it. I watched the spoiler for it to make sure they were at least mostly things I would use and for sure over time I will. I’m super excited about it.
I also did all of my Christmas shopping including stocking stuffers so I’m feeling pretty accomplished. What did you guys try this week? Did you fall in love with any products? Are you waiting for anything special?

Final day of Podcast Girls Week: Free space
Gloria, McGrath, Zelda and Pat spend some time together doing girls stuff | Mission: rejected (2,7k words)
“Please, tell me you have plans for the afternoon.” McGarth suddenly appeared next to Gloria with a terrified look on her face.
“Oh, well, actually I don’t. Bowden left for audition so I thought I will have just afternoon and evening for myself.” Gloria wasn’t sure what was happening.
McGrath sighed heavily. She looked behind herself and then back at Gloria. Spark of new idea glimpsed in her eyes.
“Okay, we can still get out of it. We will just make up some completely new plans together!” She said more to herself than to Gloria.
“Get out of what?” Gloria also looked behind McGrath trying to understand what’s going on.
“Summer filing!” McGrath exclaimed with true horror. “Skip is looking for people for summer filing.”
Gloria understood her fear and rush immediately. No one was eager to help Skip with organising on normal day but summer filing was the worst of the worst.
“Let’s just say we have important plans that we can’t postpone.” Gloria didn’t have much hope as both of them knew how persistent Skip could be during summer filing.
“Girls stuff! We have important girls stuff.” McGarth tried to have a little bit of hope that this to work. Optimism was however quite hard to have on the day like this. “Girls stuff excuse always works. At least always worked.”
They didn’t have any more time to come up with any better idea because Skip entered the room with a wide smile.
“Good morning, McGrath! Good morning, Gloria! What a beautiful day, don’t you think?” Skip’s voice sounded cheerful and excited. The only answer he got were two badly covered terrified looks from both of them. “It is time for summer filing! Can I count on you-“
“We have plans!“
“Girls stuff!”
“Girls plans!”
Confused Skip looked between them and they looked back at him with matching scared looks.
“Girls plans?”
“Yes, we have planned girls plans and sadly we can’t postpone it.” Gloria tried to sound convincing and even put apologetic smile on her face.
“You know how it is. Girls stuff.” McGrath’s smile matched Gloria’s.
They were nodding they heads in unison attempting to not look suspicious. Skip still looked quite confused but at least he wasn’t arguing or convincing them further so they started to feel optimistic about the whole thing. They starred at each other in silence - Skip opening and closing his mouth unsure what to say, Gloria and McGrath with part terrified, part apologetic and part happy smiles.
“I understand. You have girls stuff.” Skip began after a long moment.
“Yes, yes, girls stuff.” They rushed with confirmations. “Very important.”
“Well, then I won’t take you away from your plans. I will go ask Section Chief Anders.”
As if on cue Zelda entered the room. All eyes were immediately on her. Gloria and McGrath tried to tell her to run only with their eyes. Skip smiled wildly and took a step towards her.
“Good morning, Section Chief Anders! Do you have any plans for today?” Skip’s enthusiasm returned with full force.
“Morning, agent Granger.” Zelda hesitated before continuing. Her eyes moved between warning looks of McGrath and Gloria and Skip’s wide smile. “Why are you asking? Is something happening today?”
“It is time for summer filing!” Skip didn’t noticed that all colour left Zelda’s face. “So I would appreciate any help I can get.”
“Oh, yes, of course, summer filing. You see, sadly, I can’t because I have…” Zelda’s creativity for coming up with excuses seemed to disappear like McGrath and Gloria’s one. “You see, I have, um, me and Pat have very important…”
“Girls stuff!” Gloria exclaimed suddenly and everyone turned to her. Zelda was as surprised and confused as Skip earlier. “Section Chief and her wife are joining us for girls stuff.”
Gloria smiled widely and gave Zelda a look begging to understand the situation. Zelda was starring at her with a pure confusion. They locked eyes in silent intense conversation which ended abruptly when Skip turned to chief with expecting look.
“Oh, yes, the girls stuff.” Zelda sounded like speaking these words physically hurt her. “I am sorry, agent Granger, but we are already busy. With girls stuff.”
Skip looked between three of them with unsure expression on his face. However it quickly disappeared replaced by previous enthusiastic smile.
“Oh, never mind, I will handle it myself. It is not that difficult. And I will finally have a chance to use my newest organising method. I think it will be perfect for the occasion.” Skip talked about filing in cheerful tone for the rest of the morning not losing his spirit by being abandoned by his coworkers.
And that’s how McGrath, Zelda and Pat found themselves in Gloria’s flat later that day. They sat dawn in the living room in silence. Gloria busied herself with putting out snacks and bringing drinks.
“So let me get this straight.” Pat said and it was hard to tell if she was more confused or amused. “We are in Gloria’s flat because…?”
“Girls stuff.” McGrath said with a smile. She just started to feel happy that their crappy excuse actually worked. “Girls stuff, baby!”
”We don’t want to participate in Granger’s summer filing and Gloria and McGrath could only think about “girls stuff” as an excuse.” Zelda still sounded like someone has just pulled out her tooth.
“Oh, like you’ve had any better idea.” McGarth pointed chip at section chief. “You should be happy Gloria has a good heart and decided to help you out.”
Zelda send her a stern glance and snatched a chip from a bowl in front of McGrath. MacKenzie opened her mouth outraged.
“Is summer filing really that bad?” Pat asked curious and stopped chips war from progressing.
“Yes.” All three women answered simultaneously with horror in their voices.
They looked at her with terrified expressions. McGrath even forgot about her chips for a moment.
“Okay. Sensing some deep trauma here. Anyway, what now?” Pat was the only one looking interested in being there. Zelda wasn’t eager of blending her work with private life so she usually tried to keep her away from her coworkers when it was possible. That meant Pat was quite excited to spend some time with her wife, Gloria and McGrath.
Women looked at each other. Their planning abilities weren’t in the best condition today and their plan didn’t go beyond escaping Skip and getting to Gloria’s flat.
“Well, I thought about watching Nimona today. We can do that.” Gloria proposed with hesitation. “Eventually, I should have scrabble somewhere so we can play.”
For the first time since the words “summer filing” were spoken today a small smile appeared on Zelda’s face. Meanwhile Pat’s excitement seemed to fade.
“Scrabble you say?” Zelda suddenly sounded much more lively. She looked at her wife and her smile widened. “What do you think, dear? Let’s play, it will be fun.”
She got a glaring look in response and laughed. Gloria and McGrath exchanged glances when they heard her laughter. Section Chief wasn’t often so open with expressing her positive emotions.
“So, what’s with scrabble?” McGrath asked curious and hoped that Zelda was in good enough mood to share this story.
“Nothing!” Pat answered quickly what was met with another chuckle from Zelda. “What was this movie you mentioned?”
With Pat’s persistence to change topic, idea of playing scrabble was abandoned. Gloria brought her laptop and was searching for the movie, while McGrath was looking from Zelda to Pat trying to figure out if there is any chance to hear the scrabble story. Zelda grabbed her wife’s hand and whispered something to her eat. Whatever it was it made Pat smile again. McGrath saw that any chance she got went away, at least for now, and turned her whole attention towards bowl of snacks.
“As we are apparently committing to watching the movie, can I propose ordering something to eat?” She said looking sadly at quickly disappearing chips.
“Oh, there’s this nice pizzeria that always delivers very fast.” Gloria said tearing off her eyes from the screen. When she saw excited nodding from McGarth she got up and went to the kitchen to find a menu.
“Movie, pizza, we have a whole girls night package.”
“It’s not even one p.m., McGrath.” Zelda commented checking her phone. She was more concerned for any possible messages about Skip Granger setting EMF archives on fire rather than interested in looking at the time.
“Oh, details.” MacKenzie was already looking through pizzeria’s menu given to her by Gloria. “We can later also paint our nails and we will truly have a whole package.”
She was happy with herself when in response she got Pat’s laughter and Zelda’s groan. Before anyone said anything else, Pat’s phone rang.
“Sorry, I have to take this.” She got up and left the room to answer the phone.
McGrath followed her with her gaze until she disappeared and then immediately turned to Zelda.
“Okay, what’s with scrabble?” She asked again in hushed voice.
“Don’t think that I will tell you this just because Pat is not here, no matter how much pleasure it would give me.” Zelda’s tone clearly indicated that she considered the whole thing closed. However McGrath didn’t agree with her judgment.
“Oh, come on, I know you want to tell us.”
“McGrath, if Section Chief says she’s not telling us, you should respect it.” Gloria interrupted their conversation. This whole thing was already quite stressful and challenging and she didn’t want to make it worse by extracting some unwanted story about the head of the CIA.
“Exactly, thank you.” Zelda send a thankful look towards Gloria and thankfully she didn’t saw how McGrath rolled her eyes.
“Whatever. Pick your pizza.” McGrath threw menu to Zelda who caught it without problem.
However ordering pizza wasn’t meant for them at that moment. Pat entered the room with serious expression on her face. Zelda looked alarmed as soon as she saw her wife but she didn’t have chance to ask about anything.
“Work called. There’s urgent mission and no team to take it.” Pat started and after a moment a cunning smile showed on her lips. “What would you say, ladies, if we change our girls plans a little bit?”
She saw three pairs of eyes light up at once. Gloria closed her laptop, McGrath ate the last chip, Zelda put down menu.
“I’m driving.” Zelda took out car keys and four women prepared to leave.
Few hours later they were back at Gloria’s flat. However this time there was no silence. They spoke over each other recapping their successful mission. Gloria was still buzzing with energy and almost splashed their drinks when she was pouring them. McGrath talked with mouth full of pizza and was lively gesticulating with one hand she was not holding slice of pizza in.
“This mission could not go any better!”
“You sneaked behind them and they didn’t hear a thing!”
“Oh, his face when he realised he doesn’t control the drones anymore!”
“And we were in a car chase! I love car chases!”
Pat had to be physically dragged by Zelda to the bathroom from their animated retelling.
“We’ll be back in a moment. I have to take care of you first.” Zelda sat her down on the toilet and opened first aid kit. She cleaned shallow cut on her arm and apologised when Pat hissed. She gently put the bandage on the wound. “Here. It wasn’t that bad, was it?”
Pat looked her wife in the eyes and smiled with adoration.
“No kiss to help wound heal faster?” She asked in innocent voice.
Zelda smiled back at her. She gently kissed top of the bandage careful to not ruin it. Then she moved higher and kissed her wife on the mouth. She could feel her smile when she kissed her back. They could hear raised voice of McGrath and Gloria form the living room but for a moment they ignored it together with everything else that wasn’t the other person.
“You were quite good today, Section Chief Anders.” Pat whispered tugging strand of Zelda’s hair behind her ear.
“You weren’t bad yourself, dear.” Zelda murmured kissing corner of her mouth.
Pat smiled again. She loved her wife so much. She didn’t care about lack of public display of affection from her because every moment like this, just between two of them, was so much more precious.
“I could stay here with you for the rest of the night but I think if we want to see any pizza we should hurry up before McGrath eats everything.” Zelda said in normal voice but she didn’t pull away from her wife.
“Come on then, I am starving.” Pat took her hand and dragged her towards living room.
They walked in on Gloria re-enacting fight with guards while McGrath cheered and waved her pizza in success. Pat chuckled at the sight of this and Zelda smiled seeing her wife happy.
“Hell yeah, you punched these douchebags!” McGrath shouted excitedly and pepperoni almost fell of her pizza. She shoved whole slice into her mouth to save it.
“Oh, and the way you hacked those lasers! They never saw that coming.” Gloria mimicked shooting weapons with her fingers and McGrath quickly joined her shouting “phew, phew”.
They burst out laughing and Zelda didn’t try to fight a fond smile that creeped on her lips.
“Is there any pizza left?” She and Pat sat down and managed to steal some pizza slices from McGrath who pretended to be offended she has to share her food.
They continued to recapping their mission in excited voices. Gloria took empty sauce boxes to imitate car chase, McGrath used chips to simulate flying drones and Pat delivered dynamic commentary of the whole thing supported by Zelda adding details she forgot. When a gummy bear simulating briefcase with secret information they retrieved was safely deposited in McGrath’s mouth that acted as CIA place in this scenario they cheered loudly.
“Very successful mission, indeed.”
“I think you meant very successful girls plans, Chief.” McGrath smiled at Zelda who couldn’t be bothered to act irritated at her words. Pat looked at McGarth remembering what she said earlier that day and mischievous grin showed on her lips.
“What did you say earlier about painting nails, MacKenzie?” She asked playfully and McGrath looked at her with the biggest smile on her face.
They did end up painting their nails. As Gloria had only three colours, it wasn’t hard to decide - Pat went with blue, Gloria with yellow and McGarth with all three. Zelda wasn’t convinced into painting her nails but she let Pat braid her hair what satisfied McGarth desire for whole girls night package.
They watched the movie late at night. McGrath loudly commented “just like we did today!” every time there was an explosion on screen. Pat started to drift off first and soon she was laying asleep on Zelda who was gently stroking her hair. McGrath and Gloria pretended not to see it or the smile on Zelda’s face.
The only person who end up watching the movie to the end was Gloria. When the credit rolled out she turned around eager to discuss the movie. She saw three women asleep in various position and felt fondness on the sight. She quietly got up and covered Pat and Zelda with a blanket careful to not wake them up. She gently woke up McGrath who nodded off on the table.
“Five more minutes.” She mumbled not fully conscious.
“Come on, McGrath, you will be more comfortable in the bed.” Gloria somehow managed to pull her on her feet and lead her to the bedroom.
McGrath immediately fell back to sleep when her head hit the pillow. Gloria lay down next to her and quickly dozed off too.
Next morning they were met by Skip next to the coffee machine. He took a good look at all of them stopping on McGrath’s colourful nails, Zelda’s two braids and bruise on Gloria’s face and asked genuinely curious:
“So how was yesterday?”
Three of them looked at each other.
“You know, normal girls stuff.”

The Littlest Timelord: The Death of the Doctor Chapter 10
TITLE: The Littlest Timelord: The Death of the Doctor Chapter 10 PAIRING: No Pairing RATING: T CHAPTER: 10/? SUMMARY: The Doctor’s death is looming on the horizon and Elise is growing every day. What the Doctor doesn’t know is that he has 200 years to teach Elise all he knows. Amy, Rory, and River let Elise in on their secret, because River knows she will keep it. What will Elise do when he’s gone?
[A/N - We’ve made it to the double digits! I am so excited for the next chapter! I’ve got an emotional scene planned that will forever change the relationship between Elise and the Doctor.]
Elise watched as Amy paced back and forth.
“What's wrong?” Rory asked her.
“The most beautiful thing you've ever seen?”
“Oh, tell me I didn't really say that.”
Amy laughed at his embarrassment.
The first mate and the other pirate started to break down the barricade in front of the door.
“What's going on?” Amy asked them.
“We're not staying here to mollycoddle the boy. The Captain's gone soft. It's time for us to leave,” the first mate told her.
Elise and Toby stood up.
“He told you to wait, you dog. He's your Captain, a Naval Officer. You're honor-bound to do as he tells you,” Toby said.
“Honor-bound? Do you know what kind of ship this is? Do you know what your father does?” the first mate asked him.
Amy wrapped an arm around his shoulders and stroked the back of his head. “Don't listen to him, Toby.”
“We sail under the black flag. The Jolly Roger.”
“Liar! He's no wicked pirate!” Toby yelled.
“Oh, you think so? I have seen your father gun down a thousand innocent men.”
“Get what treasure you can. I'll meet you in the row boat,” the first mate told his fellow pirate.
Toby rummaged around and found a sword. “You're going to remain at your post,” he told them.
“I am not playing games with you, boy. You put that down.”
“One more step and I'll use this, you blaggard.”
Elise admired Toby’s bravery.
“You don't know how to fight with a cutlass, boy.”
“Don't need to, do I.” He swiped down and cut the first mate on the hand.
“No. You little swabber!”
“Congratulations. You made it to the menu. Probably shouldn't go out there now,” Amy told him.
“You scurvy ape!” The first mate pulled out his gun.
“Don't shoot. The powder will blow and kill us all,” Rory said.
The other pirate took the keys from the first mate’s belt. “Mulligan, what are you doing?” he said.
Mulligan left.
“No honor among pirates,” Amy said.
The first mate put down his gun and started to rebuild the barricade.
Elise wished she had her sketchbook or something with her. She was bored and wondering what was taking her father and Avery so long.
Toby, who sat next to her, pulled off the medallion around his neck and started to polish it with a piece of cloth.
Suddenly, there was banging on the door.
“Amy! Open the door!” the Doctor yelled.
“Toby, open the door! Toby!” Avery yelled.
Rory and Amy ran to the door to deconstruct the barricade.
The door opened the Doctor grabbed the medallion. He started to breathe on it, quickly clouding the surface. The Doctor ran out of the room with Avery following, leaving Amy, Rory, Elise, and Toby standing there confused.
They soon came back in.
“Now what?” Amy asked.
“Now we wait,” the Doctor told them.
“Just wait?” Rory asked.
“Not my most dynamic plan, I realize.”
“TARDIS?” Amy asked.
“It's been towed.”
“What?”
“Sorry. We might be stuck here for a while.”
“So you're saying that we should all just wait here below?” Rory asked.
“The sea is still calm, like a mirror. If you go out on deck she'll rise up and attack you,” Avery said.
“It's okay. The calm won't last forever,” the Doctor told them, “When the wind picks up we'll all set sail.”
“Until it does, you have to hide down here.”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Avery joined the Doctor and Elise up on deck.
The Doctor was teaching Elise about the stars.
Avery looked up at the night sky.
“It's not one star, it's two. The Dog Star, Sirius. Binary system,” the Doctor said.
“I use it to navigate the ocean,” Avery told him.
“I've traveled far, like you. Space can be very lonely, and the greatest adventure is having someone share it with you.” The Doctor looked down at Elise, who smiled at him. “
If we get out of this I'll take him back to England. He can't stay with me. I'm not the father he needs.”
“Who are you, Henry Avery? Respected naval officer, wife and child at home. How did you end up here, wandering the oceans with a band of rogues?”
“I've set my course now. Nothing I can do to alter it.”
“People stared at it for centuries and never knew. Things can suddenly change, when you're least expecting.” The Doctor patted Avery on the chest before he and Elise went down to the captain’s quarters. The Doctor stopped and looked at the windows he had smashed.
Elise looked at him and then looked at the windows. She got a prickling feeling at the top of her spine.
“Doctor? Elise?” Amy asked, coming up behind them.
“Shush.”
“What can you see?”
“Feels like something's out there, staring straight at me.”
There was a crash of thunder and then lightning.
“Man the sails!” the Doctor yelled, running up on deck.
Elise and Amy ran after him.
Soon, they were being pelted by rain.
“To the rigging, you dogs! Let go the sails. Avast ye! Put the bunt into the slack of the clews!” Avery yelled.
Amy and Rory ran to a set of ropes and started pulling on them.
“I swear he's making half this stuff up!” Amy yelled.
“Well, we're going to need some kind of phrase book!” Rory yelled back.
The Doctor stood at the wheel, directing the ship.
Elise clung to his legs.
“Toby! Find my coat. My compass is inside it, boy. Heave ho, you bilge rats!” Avery yelled.
“Rats was all I could hear!” Rory yelled back.
Toby came towards his father with the coat when a golden crown fell out and rolled across the deck.
The Siren shot out of the crown and flew up into rigging, before coming down to the deck.
“Don't let her take you!” Avery yelled.
Toby walked towards the Siren with his hand out.
“No!” Avery yelled.
Elise let go of the Doctor and ran towards Toby.
“Elise!”
She grabbed onto Toby as he touched the siren. Elise opened her eyes and found she was in a med bay, much like the one on the TARDIS. She’d only been once. She’d been sharpening her charcoals and sliced her hand open.
The Siren was hooking Toby up to machines as she ignored Elise. The Siren disappeared and a second later, appeared with Rory.
“Rory!” Elise yelled, running towards them.
The Siren turned red when she got near him.
“I’m sorry,” Elise told her. Elise stepped back and the Siren calmed down.
The Siren floated off to somewhere else.
A few minutes later, the doors to the med bay opened.
“Daddy!” Elise yelled, running towards him.
“Elise!” The Doctor caught her in his arms. “You’re okay.” He placed several kissed on her hair before he put her down.
“McGrath! He's one of my men,” Avery said.
“He's still breathing,” Amy observed.
“My entire crew is here. Toby!”
Amy spotted Rory. “Rory!”
“Toby!” Avery said, running over to his son.
“The TARDIS!” the Doctor yelled. He ran towards the plastic sheeting and threw it aside. He’d never been happier to see the big little blue box.
“We have to get him out of here,” Avery said.
“Wait,” the Doctor told him. He scanned Toby with his screwdriver. “His fever's gone.” He walked over to Rory and scanned him.
“He looks so well,” Amy said.
“She's keeping him alive. His brain is still active, but all its cellular activity is suspended. It's not a curse, it's a tissue sample,” the Doctor told her, “Why get samples of people you are about to kill?”
“Help me get him up.”
The Doctor started to unhook Rory from the machines.
They started beeping rapidly.
“She's coming,” the Doctor said.
Rory was starting to wiggle around on the metal bed.
The Doctor, Amy, Avery, and Elise hid behind some monitors as the Siren floated in. As she sang her song, Rory went back to sleep.
“Anesthetic”, the Doctor realized.
“What?” Amy asked.
“The music. The song. So she anesthetizes people and puts their body in stasis.”
The Siren floated over to Toby.
Avery stepped out with his gun raised.
“Avery, no!” the Doctor yelled.
Avery fired his gun and the Siren turned red like when Elise had tried to come near Rory.
The Siren advanced on Avery until the Doctor sneezed. The Siren produced a beam of fire between her hands as she came towards the Doctor.
Amy held Elise back from running over to him.
“Fire. That's new. What does fire do? Burn? Yes. Destroy? What else? Sterilize! I sneezed. I've brought germs in.” The Doctor pulled out a handkerchief. He sneezed into it before throwing it on the floor.
The Siren blasted it with fire.
Amy used this distraction and ran to Rory. The Siren started going towards Amy now.
“Amy, stop. Don't interfere. Don't touch him. Anesthetic, tissue sample, screen, sterile working conditions. Ignore all my previous theories!”
“Yeah? Well, we stopped paying attention a while back.”
“She's not a killer at all, she's a doctor!”
Amy stopped messing with the Rory’s tubes and the Siren returned to her normal state.
“This is an automated sick bay,” the Doctor said, “Its teleporting everyone on board. The crew are dead, and so the sick bay has had nothing to do. It's been looking after humanity whilst it's been idle. Look at her. A virtual doctor able to sterilize a whole room.”
“Able to burn your face off,” Amy reminded him.
“She's just an interface, seeped through the join between the planes, broadcast in our world. Protean circuitry means she can change her form, and become a human doctor for humans. Oh, sister, you are good.”
Amy reached for Rory and the Siren turned red again.
“She won't let us take them,” Avery said.
“She's keeping them alive, but she doesn't know how to heal them,” the Doctor explained.
“I'm his wife, for God's sake. Why can't I touch him?” Amy asked.
“Tell her, Amy. Show her your ring.” The Doctor grabbed Amy’s hand. “She may be virtual but she's intelligent. You can't do anything without her consent. Come on. Sophisticated girl like you. That must be somewhere in your core program.”
“Look, he's very ill, okay? I just want to look after him. Why won't you let me near my husband?” A tear fell from Amy’s eye and the Siren cocked her head to side.
The Siren held out her hand and a circle of light appeared around it.
“Consent form. Sign it. Put your hand in the light. Rory's sick. You have to take full responsibility,” the Doctor told her.
Amy did and the Siren disappeared. Amy turned off Rory’s life support and he immediately started gasping for breath.
“He can't breathe. Turn it back on,” the Doctor said.
She did and Rory went back to sleep.
“What do we do? I can't just leave him here.”
“He'll die if you take him out,” Avery said.
“Rory? Rory, wake up,” Amy cooed, stroking his hair.
“Where am I?” Rory asked.
“You're in a hospital. If you leave, you might die,” the Doctor told him.
“But if you don't, you'll have to stay forever,” Amy added.
“You're saying that if I don't get up now…?” Rory asked.
“You can never leave.”
“The Siren will keep you safe,” the Doctor said.
“And if I come with you?” Rory asked.
“Drowning, on the point of death.”
“I'm a nurse.”
“What?” Amy asked.
“I can teach you how to save me.”
“Whoa. Hold on.”
“I was drowning. You just have to resuscitate me.”
“Just?”
“You've seen them do it loads of times in films. CPR. The kiss of life.”
“Rory, this isn't a film, okay? What if I do it wrong?”
“You won't.”
“Okay, what if you don't come back to life? What if…?”
“I trust you.”
Amy looked at the Doctor who was walking over to Avery. “What about him? I mean, why do I have to be the one? Why do I have to save you?”
“Because I know you'll never give up. I know you can do this. Of course, if you muck it up I am going to be really cross. And dead.”
“I'll see you in a minute.”
The Doctor looked at Amy and nodded. He ripped off the restraints and Rory started gasping for breath.
Amy and the Doctor lifted him up and carried him into the TARDIS.
Elise walked over to Toby and Avery. “Goodbye Toby,” she said. She leaned down and placed a kiss on his hair.
“Take care of him,” Avery said.
Elise nodded, knowing he was talking about her father. Elise entered the TARDIS as Rory started coughing up water.
“Amy. Amy, you did it. You did it!” Rory told her. He sat up and they hugged.
The Doctor smiled and walked up the stairs to the platform. “Did you say goodbye?” the Doctor asked Elise.
She nodded.
“Don’t feel like talking?”
Elise shook her head.
The Doctor sighed internally. He missed the days when Elise was loud and outspoken. He hoped she found her voice soon.

MAAAAN I went on an emotional roller coaster today while looking at make up trying to find black owned brands.
I got an insta ad for juvia's place brand and fell in LOVE with it because along with strong pigments and pretty colors they were dirt cheap AND having a sale!!! I was THIS close to throwing my money at them but my mom was like "A woman from Africa made this brand? Go do ur research before they steal ur money" and well....unfortunately she was right, a LOT of people got scammed and when they tried to contact customer service or comment on social media they would be ignored and blocked, some ppl even got charged extra fees on shipping for shit they never got???? So fuck those ppl. They also sell at ulta but I dont think I wanna support someone with such bad customer support regardless of how much I want those beautiful shades u know?
So then I looked up lists for more black owned beauty, discovered Pat McGrath and though her stuff was also gorgeous, it was $125 a pallet and while I'm proud we have black women designers getting their bag out there like that....just not in my budget lol. They had cheaper things but idk... maybe I'll go back to them to see if they have a memorial day sale or something for the summer.
Then I remembered the crayon case and though also amazing, they didnt have a lot of colors I was going for
Looked at Fenty cuz they were having a sale, and since I dont rly need foundation since I rarely use it I gave up there kinda fast, she did have some other things but I'm not gonna spend Fenty money on things I only kinda like just cuz its Fenty on sale u know??
Then FINALLY I find a brand named Uoma Beauty that I loved as soon as I saw their carnival line and it had trinidad as a name as an eyeshadow and a lipstick and I almost went balls deep buying things until I learned they pretty much just had a huge ass birthday sale at the beginning of the month with sales up to 80% off 😭😭😭 so I'm crossing my fingers theyll have a summer sale or memorial day sale or something soon, obviously it wont be as good as a sale but hey I obviously dont need make up right now this second and if I can save a few bucks while I still support my fellow black women then more props to both of us right??? (If I was just getting 1 thing then sure I would splurge but I wanna get a few things so I wanna be patient and not spend almost a hundo on make up cuz I'm excited 😂😂😂) btw this brand was made by a Nigerian women and has a lot of happy customers unlike the first brand I mentioned that seems like its damn near a scam, a lot of ppl got their stuff but it feels like just as many got fucked over and I value my money so I ain't taking my chances lmfao
Sorry for the long ass post but I needed to like vent my excitement out somewhere besides to my bf cuz the poor thing just offeres to get it for me even tho he JUST got me make up last month 🥺❤ but if u made it this far I hope u check out those brands! Especially if ur looking for some black woman owned indie brands!!!

Hey sorry if this sounds rude it’s not meant to but I don’t understand how Kylie cosmetics makes so much money when I find the quality of her makeup similar to drug store brands. Like you can’t compare her makeup line to Pat McGraths line because one is shitty and low end and the other is very glamorous and high end. What are your thoughts? thanks
Well she makes money off mainly the name. Cause it’s kylie Jenner you know. But I’ve only tried her liquid lipsticks and their my favourite formula. I cannot comment on the other stuff cause I haven’t tried it xo

Pre-Summer ‘18 Beauty Game Changers
Okay, so it’s absolutely no secret that I’ve been a tad scarce around these parts. What can I say except, adjusting to motherhood means sometimes my little bundle of joy kicks my websites out of the priority seat! Anywho, I’m back with a much needed beauty story. Between last month and this one I’ve had a TON of beauty deliveries and also attended The Makeup Show’s press preview day. So, I will most definitely be giving a highlight on some of the cool products we were given - including a full sized Pat McGrath palette!!!
To get back into the swing of things, I’m kicking off my return to TAB with a beauty roundup of game changing items I’ve been using since mid April. As usual, I’ll let you know which items were gifted by the brand and which were bought by me. And yeah, I’ve been that busy for the last two months that most of these items were gifted by the brand. But as usual, my reviews are honest - even if I’m a brand ambassador. A big focus this time is skincare because thanks to postpartum hormones and a general neglect of my regular skincare regimen, my skin has been in sad shape recently.
1. Shea Terra Organics African Black Soap (gifted)
If you’re unfamiliar with African black soap, it’s often used to even out skin tone, help reduce excess oil and can be used as part of an exfoliation routine. So, one thing I’ve been dealing with for the past four months has been what feels like an excess of dry skin which leads to dull patches that come through even under makeup. What I love about Shea Terra’s version of African black soap is that it’s a powder that you can mix to the consistency level that you want. I can add a minimal amount of water to create more of a paste and strategically place it on areas that need more attention. Or, I can add water to turn it into more of a liquid traditional foamy soap for an all over wash.
2. Pixi Beauty x Weylie Hoang Dimensional Eye Creator 2-in-1 Liner (gifted)
Now this liner is actually part of an entire kit, but I’m only talking about the liner. Anyone who reads TAB regularly knows that I tend to be really critical of felt tipped “liquid” liners because I often don’t feel that they stand up to the same inky blackness and longevity of my tried and true liquid liner, Wet ‘n Wild megaliner in black. So, I went into this being skeptical and was profoundly and happily surprised. This is a dual ended liner that offers a fab inky black felt tip on one side for precise lines and a soft creamy kohl on the other for smoky eyes or smudged liner effects. I don’t really bother with the kohl side because often times creamy liners have a way of shifting and feathering out over the course of a day. But that ink liner...yes ma’am I’m in love! Although the finished look has a bit of a shine instead of the overall matte liner I prefer, I think Pixi hit it out of the park with this liner.
3. The Makeup Mitty & Mitty Blackout (gifted)
Now makeup removing cloths aren’t necessarily new anymore, but I love the shape and functionality of these particular cloths. The Makeup Mitty (blue) is shaped in a tear drop form so that you can use the rounded side to remove larger swaths of makeup say on your overall face or cheeks. Meanwhile the pointed end gets in for fine cleaning around the eyes. And if you’re heavy on eye makeup, The Mitty Blackout (black) is specifically just for taking off stubborn eye makeup. What I love is that these Mitties are specifically made to be used with your preferred cleanser, which is the only way I use makeup cloths these days as I find it gives me a more total cleansing experience.
4. IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Makeup 3-in-1 Wipes (gifted)
Whereas The Makeup Mitty is great for when I’m home and have all my cleansers with me, these wipes are ideal for when I’m on the road and am trying to minimize the amount of stuff I’m bringing with me. Although I don’t think these give me as thorough a cleansing as when I use a cleanser + cloth (mainly because I wear a full face of makeup and normally do a 2 step cleanse, so that’s a lot of damage to put on one disposable cloth), I do like that it can take off stubborn eyeliner and matte liquid lipsticks - which can be hard for traditional cleansing cloths to do. Also, my skin doesn’t feel dry and chafed afterwards.
5. Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Soft Peeling Gel (purchased)
If you’re a long time TAB reader, you know my holy grail of exfoliators is Cure Aqua Gel. But, over the last year I have been branching out to other brands, and Nature Republic does a great job of creating a less visual version of a top notch exfoliator. And by that I mean, you don’t get the gross white beads of skin. Whereas Cure’s exfoliator is a bit more liquid based, Nature Republic’s has a granular texture and is truly a stiffer gel. But most importantly, I instantly feel the results on my skin after washing it off. The only thing I don’t love is that this definitely has fragrance in it. It’s not intense, but if you prefer scent free skincare, this isn’t for you.
6. Erborian Waterlock Bamboo Moisture Mask (gifted)
I love that this mask can pull double duty as either an everyday moisturizer or as a moisture pack depending on how much you apply. I’ve definitely used this moisturizer as a traditional moisturizer after the cleansing step as well as a sleep pack where I add other light oils like my rose oil to give it a bit more longevity. What I love is that this gel, although lightweight, has some serious staying power. And although the packaging doesn’t say, I strongly suspect that the soft gel consistency is due to a healthy amount of aloe vera (plus it smells heavily of aloe).
7. Kevyn Aucoin Neo-Blush (gifted)
Now, it’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Kevyn Aucoin. But I do love this Neo-Blush which are basically ombre blushes with a hint of shimmer. The team at KA sent me their entire Neo-Blush collection but my personal favorite is the Sunset shade. (And P.S. if KA’s Neo-Blush is outside of your budget, NYX Cosmetics’ ombre blush is a great budget friendly dupe) The KA blush is perfectly milled and doesn’t settle into fine lines. Meanwhile, the color payoff is fantastic and lasts all day.
8. Kevyn Aucoin Neo-Elixir Weightless Beauty Oil (gifted)
Now this tri-layer beauty oil is a serious game changer whether you use it for just a skincare tool or as a pre or post makeup application tool - it seriously pulls double duty. I love that this oil is a lightweight and scent friendly castor oil based concoction. If you’ve stayed away from castor oil because of its heaviness and strong scent, you’ve got to try the Neo-Elixir. Unlike straight castor oil which can be too heavy for daytime use, this one is mixed with other oils that creates a durable oil that lasts all day without feeling greasy. Now, the website suggests you can use it as a post-makeup step to give yourself a dewy look - I don’t do that. I use it as a regular skincare oil and on occasion if my skin is super dry, as a pre-makeup step. I just don’t do “dewy” because it’s easy to err and mistakenly end up in greasy territory.
9. IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Foundation Tinted Moisturizer in Deep (gifted)
Now everyone knows that my current favorite foundation is NYX Cosmetics Total Control Drop Foundation in Deep Sable. I’ve been using it for over a year now almost exclusively. But when the weather gets really warm, a strong foundation isn’t always high on my list of must haves. And it ended up that a few weeks ago I was in North Carolina during an early pre-summer heat wave. Every day was 90+ degrees. So, I had to find something that would help to even out some skin tone issues I’m having while not being too heavy. The tinted moisturizer does the trick in that department. Another bonus is that even though this contains SPF 50, it doesn’t stink. Full disclosure, I’m not 100% in love with this tinted moisturizer for the following reasons:
This moisturizer can easily verge on a greasy finish if you don’t use a setting powder. The amount of shine you get on this moisturizer from the minute you apply if you don’t know how to finesse it can be a turn off for some people. When I use this foundation, I have to use my Laura Mercier setting powder to tone down the shine otherwise I look like I’ve been sweating.
IT Cosmetics often falls into the brown foundation pitfalls of veering on orangish tones. In my case, it works out because for super warm weather it compliments my inevitable tan. But in the winter months I’d be hard pressed to want to use this because it’s so orange.
Deep is the darkest shade they offer so anyone darker than me has sadly been ignored in the shade range.
10. ELF Cosmetics Beauty Shield Daily Defense Makeup Spray (gifted)
So, this was also something I’ve come to love when I’m traveling. For me, this spray pulls double duty. Normally when I’m home, I spritz my foundation and concealer brushes before applying product so that I can create a soft touch flawless finish. But the spray I normally use is in a huge container and isn’t practical for when I’m traveling. So, this smaller alternative is ideal to keep the flawless finish without taking up too much space in my travel makeup kit. I love that the spray is even and not too forceful. Additionally, it is a great spritz for when I’m done with my makeup. Now in a head to head with my Skindinavia makeup setting spray, no this will not be as intense as that because ELF focuses more on hydration whereas Skindinavia ends with a slight sticky finish to lock in the makeup. But again, I took this with me to North Carolina a few weeks ago and my makeup stayed in place during the heat wave.
Full disclosure: I’m a brand ambassador for Kevyn Aucoin, IT Cosmetics, Pixi Beauty, Erborian and ELF Cosmetics. Occasionally I post affiliate links so I may receive compensation on some of my posts.

‘That’s cool. Where do you live?’ Eve sprayed some crumbs from her mouth as she blurted out her questions. She didn’t dare look in her mum’s direction but she could feel her stare from where she stood. ‘Dublin.’ Tim could see she was stalling for time and couldn’t help but go along with her. ‘I used to live here though, when I was your age.’ Tim anticipated her response: a wide smile; crumbs filling the gaps where her teeth should be. ‘No way!’ Eve exclaimed in disbelief. ‘In my house?’ ‘Way,’ Tim answered. ‘But it wasn’t as pretty when I lived here.’ He glanced at Marie, hoping the compliment would reach her, as she carried a plate of baked fancies to the old oak table by the double doors. He cringed as he visualised the state of disrepair he had left the place in. He was sorry now. ‘You really have restored it so beautifully.’ Tim’s eyes wandered around the room. He couldn’t remember the kitchen ever having as much daylight in it before. ‘Was that window always there?’ A stream of white light flowed through the slatted blinds, creating dark angled stripes on the otherwise white porcelain floor. ‘That was one of the more modern features we installed.’ Marie was proud of how the house looked. ‘It’s such a pretty view from here.’ She looked out over the farm and down the hills to her brother-in-law’s, George McGrath’s farm below. The McGrath’s had lived in this part of Kilkenny for centuries. ‘That’s Michael’s homeplace down there’. She pointed down and across the fields to where George McGrath’s house stood. ‘We tried as best we could to keep as much of the original features, and married them with a bit of modern stuff as well.’ She continued to set the table. ‘Of course there’s still so much we want to do.’ She hoped that didn’t sound like a criticism to Tim of the state they had found the place in. ‘It really is unrecognisable,’ Tim said sheepishly. He wondered what she had thought of the place when she first saw it. ‘With living in Dublin, I, or I mean, we never really got down that much.’ Marie threw her daughter a final warning look and as Eve left the room, Marie poured some tea into Tim and Robert’s mugs, cleared her throat and began to speak. She could tell by the anticipation in Tim and Robert’s eyes that they were eager for more information. ‘Sorry you were bombarded with all those questions.’ She smiled, shutting the door behind her daughter. ‘I was waiting for her to leave so that I could tell you, Detective Kelly, he was here earlier this morning and just nipped back to the station for a few things, he said I’ve to give him a ring when you get here.’ She had learned the hard way not to have sensitive conversations in front of her chatty eight-year-old. ‘Marie,’ Tim was anxious to meet the detective and get back on the road to Dublin, ‘if you don’t mind, maybe you’ll give him a ring there now.’ And if he could avoid meeting Michael McGrath, all the better. ‘Of course.’ Marie patted her head for her glasses and slid them down to her nose. She scrolled through her recent calls and pressed connect when she found the station’s number. She smiled at Tim as she listened for the call to be connected. ‘Detective Kelly, please.’ Her tone was clear and concise, Tim noted as she spoke down the phone to whoever answered. She walked out of the kitchen to continue. ‘She seems nice.’ Robert spoke softly as the door closed behind her. ‘Crazy being back here after all these years, I’d say?’ Tim barely acknowledged his ramblings with a nod. Robert watched him with sympathetic eyes. ‘You can see for miles from this window.’ Robert stood by the sink and turned on the tap to rinse his cup. Tim didn’t answer. He had never stopped to take in the view when he was a child; he was too busy ducking out of the way of his father’s fists. ‘Tim.’ Robert knew Tim’s thoughts were far from undulated hills and idyllic childhood memories. Tim still didn’t answer. ‘Tim.’ Robert spoke more firmly. ‘Yes.’ Tim shook his head as though trying to banish what was inside of it. ‘What, yes, the view, yes it’s lovely. Sorry, I was miles away.’ It was surreal to think that he, Timothy Fitzpatrick, was sitting in Fitzpatrick House, drinking tea once more, after all this time. ‘You know, I don’t think he ever forgave me.’ ‘Who didn’t?’ Robert said. He glanced at the door, hoping neither Eve, nor Marie would return too soon. He was eager for Tim to speak to him, talk about how he was truly feeling and he knew that it was a hard thing for Tim to do. ‘My father, Liam, the man of the house.’ The words tasted like lemon on Tim’s lips. ‘But sure, what was there to forgive?’ Robert said. ‘For not being the man he wanted me to be. For letting everything…’ Tim paused.’ For everything that happened.’
