PART ONE:

Will byers is not the only one to hide a secret. His friend, Mike Wheeler does too. Little did he know a series of murders happening in Hawkins, his hometown far away from home/Lenora, would be linked to his one of his closest friends there. In this universe, Will Byers faces the consequences of being bitten by a radioactive spider in the upside down, along with a masked murderer under the influence of something greater. Something that impacted both if not all of them.

This story is a 12 chapter- fic set in a spiderman au. Will byers obtained those powers in an incident happeni in summer of 1985, and with this influence he gets to well- be spiderman. Mike and Will are distant, since I followed some canon plot in this story to add suspense.

And that suspense increases the more you read it. The best thing is, no matter what happens at anytime, were all human, with no powers and no weapons. We just have ourselves at the end of the day.

This complete work contains about 30k words, and has 12 chapters. Wrote it in February - April of 2023. The first scene I wrote was the finale.

Two years after retuning to Hawkins, Will Byers has to face yet another unknown threat. But the unknown, this time, doesn't mean it's unfamiliar.

Chills went up and down his spine once he realized Mike Wheeler wasn't around anymore. The fog flooded the place, making his eyesight even worse. He blinked, several times, only to just wake up to a nightmare far worse...   "I'm so sorry, Will..."

And this time, Mike Wheeler was just part of it.

"Here, this is a good spot. Let's stop."

Musa stops focusing so heavily on the ground in front of her feet and peers up at their surroundings. They don't look any closer to the top of the canyon.

"Are you kidding? We’re not even halfway there.”

A snort of frustration behind her. “Look, we’re not gonna make it to the top tonight at the pace you’re going.”

Her temper, pushed close to the surface by the pain in her leg, erupts. “Well, sorry, I wasn’t planning to get attacked.”

“I’m not saying you were!” his voice rises to match her volume and she finally turns to glare at him. His brows are furrowed and through his annoyance she can detect the fibers of indignation. Of guilt.

Good, he should feel guilty--if he’d been three second faster…

“Listen, there’s a bit of a hollow in that rock, we can be protected on three sides.”

She lets out a long sigh and shuts her eyes. He’s right, she just doesn’t want to admit it. She fucking hates being weak. She’d trained for months for the opportunity to track and hunt with the Specialists, and only her second fucking trip she’d gotten her leg split open by a Burned One.

Sure, Riven had killed it immediately, and there wasn’t any danger of her being Infected, but she felt as weak and impotent as she had back before Rosalind’s uprising, and she was looking at who-knew-how-long of a recovery.

“Fine,” she bites out, crossing her arms and leaning back, forcing Riven to lead the way off the path and through the scrub. She sulks, knowing it’s childish but unable to rouse herself to care, and tries not to watch with envy while Riven walks around their makeshift camp to hand her the little food they’ve brought and the canteen.

Her mood descends further after barely an hour of stony silence. While she hadn’t been moving quickly by any means, it was at least something to keep her heart rate up. With the sun has dropped below the canyon walls, and knowing that they can’t build a fire and give away their location, the temperature has dropped considerably.

So Musa is fully miserable and strained as she lies down on her left side to try to catch some sleep. Thisis nothing like the few times they’ve camped outside Alfea for training exercises: the ground is hard and rocky, her leg pulses with pain from each heartbeat, and she has no tent or blanket to stop herself from shivering like a leaf in an autumn wind.

After fifteen minutes of switching between her side and her back, with her pack across her uninjured leg from whatever shelter it could provide, she hears Riven groan in frustration and shuffle next to her. The next thing she feels is Riven’s chest pressed against her back and his arm around her shoulder.

“What are you doing?”

“What do you think I’m doing? Thought you were a fucking mind fairy, Pixie.”

She ignores the insult and shrugs her shoulders away from him. “Shut up and get off.”

He exhales harshly through his nose and shoves himself onto one elbow to lecture her. “Every Burned One within twenty miles of here is gonna hear the sound of your teeth chattering.”

Musa grimaces and hugs herself tighter. “I’ll stop, look.” She grinds her jaw shut, but it’s like her body starts to shake if her teeth won’t. His arm wraps around her shoulder again and she again shrugs him off.

“Fuck, Musa, get over yourself. I’m not trying to get in your pants.”

She barks a laugh at that, at the ridiculous notion of Riven and her.

He pushes himself onto one elbow again. “Listen. You want to be a Specialist right?” He pauses and Musa hunches her shoulders. In place of a reply, she simply nods, knowing he’s watching her.

“Then understand that you do shit for the sake of the group. For fuck’s sake, you’re not Musa the Special Fairy, you’re one of us. A soldier. So you do whatever it takes to stop fucking shivering and alerting every Burned One and bear around that we’re their next dinner.”

Musa considers this, shivering against the cold ground, until she realizes Riven is waiting for a response. “Are there seriously bears here?”

He exhales again, this time more of a chuckle. “You wanna find out? Pretty sure I can run faster than you on that gimpy leg.”

“My gimpy leg is your fault.”

“We’re a team, Musa,” Riven adopts Silva’s arched accent, and Musa can’t resist a grin despite herself. “‘F it’s one of your faults, it’s both your faults.”

Deep inside Musa knows he’s right--if she’d trusted her instincts a little sooner she could have anticipated its first attack--it’s not all Riven’s fault. She knows she’s cranky from the injury and taking it out on Riven. She knows it.

She’s just not ready to apologize yet.

Instead, she shifts her right shoulder back fractionally.

It takes a second, but Riven finally notices. He shuffled back onto his side, his arm snaking around her shoulder and tucking her back to his chest. “Watch the leg,” she says quietly and he grunts in reply before pulling her hips back to meet his.

It’s intimate, and feels so wrong because it’s Riven, but it’s also a warm, soft body and Musa knows she needs it. She already feels better with him at her back.

And it helps that she can feel how awkward he is, too. Despite their horizontal position his mind is still a cacophony of guilt, concern, impatience, and discomfort.

“Riven?”

He lifts his head so he’s not speaking directly into her hair. “Yeah.”

She swallows and stares ahead of her at the moon peeking over the canyon wall. “Thanks for killing it.”

“Mphf.”

She closes her eyes, Riven’s warmth seeping into her and slowing her trembling.

“I’ll deny this in the morning, Pixie, but you put up a good fight.”

She smiles to herself and lifts her elbow to tuck Riven’s hand tighter against her. “Just like you’ll deny being a cuddler.”

“Pff.” She feels Riven’s smile against the back of her head. “Sky already knows.”
