You know, I think i figured out why I like Deruth. So, I've never really seen Deruth spoken about but I've seen fanfic interpretations and it almost seems like the fandom itself doesn't quite know what to make of Deruth. Some people treat Deruth from the Birth of a Hero and Deruth from LCF/TCF as separate characters and other interpretations, the one I'm more in favour of is that both versions of Deruth cared about their son, they just didn't know how to show it or fix their relationship. Cale himself acknowledges that Deruth is awkward and doesn't quite know how to speak to Cale. I personally see Deuth as someone who made mistakes following the death of Cale's mother and wanted to fix it, but couldn't figure out how, so didn't do anything, which was a mistake in and of itself. Cale starts acting like trash and Deruth again doesn't know how to handle this or fix this, since he blames himself, so, again, he doesn't fix it. And the longer it goes without him doing something, the worse the strain on their relationship gets until it ends up how we see at the first breakfast, Deruth awkwardly trying to speak to his son but unable to, as he doesn't know what to say. So what changes? Cale. Kim Rok Soo becomes Cale, realises how awkward things are and takes the first step, as he compliments breakfast, something he doesn't think about and just does to stop things being awkward but it gives Deruth an opening. It's just a short conversation, but what a difference it makes to the probably usual silent and awkward breakfasts before where no one quite knew what to say or do with Cale, and Cale, if he shows up, either says nothing or speaks only to complain about the food and then leaves.

However, this actually isn't the main thing I wanted to note. So, I've discussed the previous, Deruth's point of view. And I'm not gonna sit here and say he was good father to the original Cale or was the father he needed. He's not winning father of the year awards for original Cale, I can agree with that. Are there worse fathers? Yes, Marquis Stan immediately comes to mind. But it would be hard to say Deruth was a good father to original Cale. Now let's consider the third element here, KRS!Cale Henituse, a man mentally older than his new body, a man who only had caring parents for a few years and it's uncear how much he remembers of them, a man who was abused and mistreated, pitied, a man who's can't care about people, because if he does, something bad will happen to him. I think, in a weird way, Deruth was almost the parent Kim Rok Soo needed at the time. Let me try to explain.

So, imagine for a second a world where the Henituse family dynamics are different, healthier, happier. Maybe Deruth and Cale fixed their relationship, maybe Cale is closer with his step family. They'd be caring, nice, what a family should be. Imagine Kim Rok Soo, an orphan who was abused and had hardened himself to not care about anyone, would this not be more odd to him? Going from keeping everyone at arms length and not letting anyone in to having to show his care for parents and step siblings, something he's never experienced before. I honestly think Kim Rok Soo would've liked this less because he wouldn't know what to do when shown obvious care by a family when he's never head that relationship before. I don't know, I feel like this is more Kim Rok Soo's speed, Clearly care but still allowing that independence and freedom. Care when he gets hurt but awkward and distant. Deruth is not the father Cale needs but in an odd way, he is the father Kim Rok Soo needs at this point. Does that mean you have to like him or see him as a good father? No, it's not up to the child to fix ther relationship with their parent. But it gives less whiplash for Kim Rok Soo than a close, physically affectionate family would. Or maybe I just like him, like that he does care even if he struggles, like that he's trying even if it doesn't always seem like that. again, you don't have to like him or think he's a good parent. This is just my opinion, my interpretation. I don't know man. I've been thinking about this story all day.

On that note, and I could be wrong as someone who is not aroace and has limited knowledge on aroace, but I feel like Cale is on the aroace spectrum. we're in his thoughts for two years and not once does he consider getting in a romantic relationship. In his dream life there's nothing to do with getting married or having kids. Does this necessarily make him asexual? No there are people of all sexualities who aren't bothered about marriage or kids, but they still tend to want some sort of romantic or sexual relationship and Kim Rok Soo/Cale Henituse seems to have zero interest in this. He has kids, he has family, he has friends. At no point does he express any kind of want for a romantic or sexual partner. Could this be because he has bigger problems? Yes. Could this be because of his past and the curse? Yes. Is he the only character this applies to? No, most of the characters show no interest in romance. Because ultimately this book is not about romance, not even slightly. It's found family, it's friendship, it's fantasy but there is no romance and, yet, for most of the characters I wouldn't rule out the possibility of them having some form of romantic or sexual character. Even with Cale I'm not saying he can/will never have those relationships. But even when he acknowledges someone as being attractive, it doesn't seem sexual or anything. He says it like it's a fact, then moves on. This isn't to say I disagree with shipping Cale. I myself don't mind a little Alcale or Choi Han/Cale. Do I personally think they are romantic or sexual? Not necessarily. You can interpret things that way, but i personally like things as they are, no romantic ships but really close friendships, to me platonic love and platonic relationships are just as, if not more, important than romantic love. And, tbf, even in content where there are romantic relationships, those romantic relationships are never the most interesting part. I don't really watch or read things, like non-fanfiction things, where romance is the main point or main storyline. I used to, but as I've gotten older (I say pretending to be wise old woman at the age of 21), I've come to appreciate friendships non-romantic relationships more and it's the main reason I enjoy shows, for relationship dynamics of all kinds.

I think that's why I'm so, like, chill with shipping and fanfiction with like proships. Now, i don't personally read things like incest or age gap fanfiction. It's not for me, no thanks. But i do tend to ship different things for different reasons. So, if I say I ship something, it's not necessarily because I think they'd have a cute, happy, healthy, loving relationship. Sometimes it's quite the opposite. Sometimes it's because i know it would be toxic and unhealthy and dark and it may even be one-sided, but my god, is it interesting. Some ships i ship purely for the angst, for the way they destroy and ruin each other. Other times I go for fluffier, happier ships. I generally think, as long as you know wrong from right in real life, ship what you want, write and read the fanfiction you want to read, and avoid the fics and ships you don't want. Don't like, don't read does apply. Commenting and interacting just gives it more attention. We all know what we like and don't like. At the end of the day you can't tell someone's morals from the fictional media they interact with. Sometimes you don't want something happy and fluffy and safe. You want something angsty and dark and hard to read. That doesn't make anyone a bad person. Sorry, this has little to do with this post. I'm just tired of people saying "if you like reading about X, you're a bad person" and putting labels on people for reading and writing fictional content that doesn't hurt any real, living person

to answer you, in a sense you are right, she definitely has a complex or even more than one. first she's a girl in a family of boys and she thinks she should be the little princess who gets protected but dh is an omega so not only he gets a lot of extra attention from her parents but bc of secondary gender he is also attractive to boys taking yet another privilege that should be hers only as a girl.

this is a bit of a reach from her bc gay relationships do exist, but we're talking about insecurities as a very deep level where logic is rarely used. she would probably feel a sense of unfairness even without omegaverse involved if the guy she liked decided he was bi and felt attracted to her brother but then it would be cheating and it would be his fault. but in jm's case he felt attracted only bc dh was an omega, so for that she feels like she can only blame dh. in a sense dh is a rarity, normally omegas are girls but she is a girl who is not an omega, so not only she feels less special/less attractive compared to other girls who are omegas, but she also feels like it's unfair that this privilege she didn't have somehow fell in her brother's lap, so yes she is quite jealous of him being an omega.

but in jm's case he felt attracted only bc dh was an omega, so for that she feels like she can only blame dh.

at the same time jm chose to take dh's side over hers because of his loyalty towards a friend so in this case it's like male solidarity, bros before hoes in a sense, so dh is winning over her both as a boy and as an omega and ig that's something that really hurts her self-esteem.

i don't want to completely justify cw bc as a sister she's been pretty shitty but i also think that i was the one who set her up for failure. ofc it wouldn't be easy for her to accept the situation maturely bc she just isn't old enough to be mature. she's not even eighteen and like teen years are realistically the worst in terms of maturity bc there's a lot of reassessing the world and your position in it while not completely having all the instruments to do it right bc you're old enough to feel mature while not realizing you're not mature, at all.

without spoiling their ending bc i haven't decided about it yet, i can say that jm probably understands cw very well, but because he understands her reasons so well he realized that enabling her hatred toward her brother for something he couldn't absolutely control was not helpful and would only let her spiral further. and like i say it is very normal to feel insecure and also to have very unhinged reactions and feelings when you're a teenager, i just feel in cw's case she was subjected to different sources of insecurity and she leashed out pretty badly in a way that is very unbecoming and makes people side with dh, making her more annoyed in turn.

as for whether she and jm they can get back together in the future depends on (my mood ahah) mainly from how much cw has grown and whether jm is still free/willing to be with her. like, they were high school lovers for a very short time, they don't have to get back together at all costs. she also might realize that she doesn't want to be with someone she can't trust (even if the lack of trust is an issue on her side, like you said she simply might want to choose someone who has no previous baggage with her brother for her own peace of mind).

Cale is a con man. He's good with his words and an even better manipulator if he wishes to be so it's easy to find yourself listening when he tells you to stay with him

You find yourself spending more time with him than you do with anyone else, as if something is stopping you from seeing them or visa versa but it's difficult to tell when you're with Cale

He doesn't want to do much, just lie around and sleep so time becomes a mess and you aren't sure how many days it's been since you left the room or saw someone else. Or has it been weeks?

You don't think Cale is behind it of course. How could you when he's so impassive all of the time but once again his words coax you back into his room and you find yourself staying there, somewhat aimlessly for days on end

You find yourself craving the sight of another person other than the red head and at the mention of someone else's name, he scowls, something that's so unlike him that it makes you pause

He lets you go for maybe a day or two but the cycle repeats itself

You don't know what time it is and you don't know what year it is at this point. You aren't even sure when the last time you saw Raon or On and Hong was and those three were always around Cale

You know better than to ask to see them anymore. The scowl that comes to Cale's face is no longer something unusual to you but something more pressuring

The words that follow always make you freeze in place and you stay quiet

Do you have something against staying around someone who is hailed a hero? What would everyone think if they found out that you of all people were on bad terms with Cale? You who you had trusted? You would be hunted, if not my Choi Han, then by any one of his allies. After all, Cale wasn't one to be on bad terms with anyone other than enemies so what would you be then?

The threat always hangs in their air as he draws you back to him and holds you close

It's suffocating and you want to leave but you can't and Cale wouldn't want it any other way. After all, you're being compliant. With you, he has everything he needs to lead his dream slacker life

[ Alver ]

It's starts off with him just wanting you around all of the time. He doesn't feel tired when you were there, even if he'd been given 4 new stacks of paperwork to fill out after Cale's done something or other again. It's comforting, a nice feeling. Not one that he wants to let go of

It escalates into him requesting your presence every second that he can have you, even trying to and successfully making you move into the palace where he can always keep you close

It feels fine to start with. He's not suffocating or anything, he's just a bit clingy but it goes from him wanting you near him to him wanting you next to him

Soon he's moving you from your room to his and you have no choice but to oblige. After all, he's the emperor and he's not about to let you forget it

He doesn't want to force you at first, choosing to coax you into staying with money, luxury, comfort, but you want to leave too often for his liking. What could you possibly need to go outside for? Everything you need is there in the palace. He gives you everything, what more could you possibly want? Come now, there's no reason to be so selfish

The house arrests don't last for too long at the beginning. Just a few days at a time where you can't leave his room but it quickly becomes permanent confinement when you want to spend more of your time off of house arrest outside than with him

Wanting to escape only comes naturally when you're barely able to leave Alver's room but you're foolish to think that, even when he leaves, there isn't some way for him to watch you and you're caught within seconds

His tone is nice but his words and eyes are anything but as he reminds you of your place. He's the emperor. Anything he says goes and if he tells you to stay put, then you stay. Put. It isn't up for debate when he holds your entire life against you

What a shame if all of the shops that you wanted to visit were to suddenly become illegal? And the fields that you keep trying to sneak off to? It would be a tragedy if they suddenly became mansions, wouldn't it?

It's easier to stay than it is to leave with Alver because he is not above putting you in chain to keep you with him

[ Choi Han ]

He doesn't even realise that he's become obsessed with you until he's unable to focus even around Cale and can't seem to stop following after you in a way that he realises is scandalous, dirty even, but by that point, he can't stop

He's not the type to make any active or obvious advances on you, much too worried that you'll push him away and he'll lose you to do so but is always vaguely near you

He becomes dilusional as he lets his obsession grow. He hasn't dealt with these kind of feelings before so how is he to know how to stop them? Like with most feelings, they'll go away eventually, right?

He's constantly on watch around you, constantly watching you. He needs to make sure you're safe after all. What if he leaves and then someone steals you away or hurts you? He can't allow that. He won't

You're his family, someone he cares for. He's already willing to kill for his family and prone to do so but you? He could hear a pin drop and suddenly there's blood scattered on the floor, tainting him and dragging him further down

These people that are near you only stay with you because they want to take you away. They want to hurt you. He can save you, protect you, you'll never be in harm's way ever again

Even when you find out, something that's inevitable because his ability to keep secrets is little to none, and you scream, you run, you cry, you hide from him, scared of what he might do, he doesn't stop. If anything it makes him keep going

Can't you see? These people, all of them, they're trying to hurt you! People have tried before just like they've tried with Cale, with Raon, with his family, they won't change! He needs to keep you safe!

He's hurt that you keep your distance but he won't forcefully pull you back to him. You'll realise eventually. It's all for you. To keep you safe. You're safe with him

“Trash of the Count’s Family” Review Series: Chapter 6

Trash of the Count’s Family Manhwa: Chapter 6

We start right from where we last left off: Count Deruth's thinking face. He reflects on how Cale feels different now. He's not acting smarter or stronger – not from what he can see at least – but his actions has clearly changed from before. Interesting detail: we can see the contrast between OG Cale and Kim Rok Soo-Cale in two images, where OG Cale seems to be next close to Deruth while KRS-Cale sits at the other end of the table – giving some credibility to the theory from chapter 1, that OG Cale usually sat closer to the family than KRS-Cale does.

Deruth doesn't draw any conclusions about this change, however. It seems that even though Cale's actions has brought some attention, his family isn't suspicious about his identity just yet. Instead, he asks for information on Billos, the illegitimate son of the Flynn family. The Count thinks of how Cale isn't the only change around, and how the atmosphere around the continent is getting dangerous. Then he explains to us the Henituse family motto:

"There is no need to be recorded in history. Just live for peace and happiness."

We are shown a quite adorable image of Deruth taking to a young Cale and tiny Basen about it. (Deruth has a "no-eyes" shot, but it's a flashback, so I'm mostly giving it a pass: 1/5 awkwardness rating.) The Count then decides to reinforce the city walls.

My impression from this scene is that despite not being perfect as a father – too indulgent of his son's "trashy" behavior – Deruth Henituse is actually a very decent man, who deeply cares for his family and his territory, much more than he cares for his wealth. In other words: I like this character. The family motto is very wise, too, and quite surprising for such a rich family. But perhaps that is the whole point; that they managed to get this rich because they've followed such a steadfast philosophy for generations.

You might notice how the Henituse motto reflects Cale's desire for a peaceful life, making it clear how well he fits with this family despite actually being a transmigrator.

Next we get back to Cale, who inwardly complains how he doesn't feel very good: and Ron bringing him lemonade again is only making it worse (the poor man, lol). Cale then notices a bandage around Ron's neck. Ron asks if he's worrying about him, and Cale denies it, stating that it's just disturbing to look at. The funny thing is, he's probably telling the truth: not because he doesn't care about Ron, but because he considers him so scary that he doubts anything could actually kill him.

Ron casually says it's nothing, which is contradicted by the flashback of him and Beacrox attacking Choi Han, and claims he was just "scratched by a cat's claw". Cale wonders if the "cat" actually means some innocent person – which is fair, since Choi Han is the innocent person in question (even if he does have blood on his hands already).

Cale's "one-eye" shot seems alright, so I'm passing it without a rating as I barely noticed it... but the second image after it does have two "no-eyes" characters, both Ron and Cale... ehhh, that looks pretty awkward I'm not gonna lie: 3/5.

Ron asks about Cale heading out. Cale confirms it (a very nice-looking image of Cale's hand: I really like the details of it. The artist is really good at drawing hands!), and Ron asks him what did he think about the lemonade. Cale, confused by the question, lies that it was delicious and opens the door... only to see Choi Han standing right on the other side. Cale immediately shuts the door in shock.

There's a funny chibi image of the two as Ron explains to Cale how "he didn't have the chance to tell him" about Choi Han waiting there for him. Cale is disgruntled, as he knows Ron absolutely did it on purpose, and calls him "a nasty man" in his mind. Thus, we establish how Ron might be a good servant and a very competent butler, but he is absolutely a troll 🤣

Cale sighs and opens the door again, asking the very serious-looking Choi Han what's the matter. First hesitant, then sincere, Choi Han responds that he wants to pay Cale back for the meal. Cale nonchalantly dismisses it, asking whether he needs anything else – however in his thoughts, he's quite disturbed by the suggestion that he could use Choi Han for his own benefit.

While that comes off as Cale disliking using a good person like that in the Manhwa, in the novel it's actually much funnier. The wording he uses there is something more like: "What kind of sane person would use Choi Han for manual labor", implying that the mere thought of employing such a loose cannon frightens him. It isn't about Cale being selfless; it's about him absolutely freaking out at the image of hiring the Protagonist(TM). Which makes it twice as funny, if you have any suspicions yet on how the story is actually going to progress 😂

Then Choi Han speaks up about having a request for help. Cale sighs again, knowing that Choi Han is going to ask about something to do with Harris Village. While sympathetic towards his plight, Cale doesn't want to personally get involved in any of this. So he tells him to tell his request to Hans, who is a "talented deputy butler". He also praises Ron and orders him to help Choi Han to the best of his abilities.

Cale, I know you're just trying to sell Ron as a good party member over here... But for someone who's supposed to act like "trash" you're awfully nice about everyone, you know??

In the next picture, Choi Han seems rather confused (or maybe he just doesn't like the idea of asking Ron for help, haha). Then he says to Cale "...But you don't even know who I am". While unbeknownst to Choi Han that's actually untrue, Cale's response is surprisingly sincere:

"Why do I need to know who you are? Do I need a reason to help out someone who is less privileged than me?"

I gotta say, that line really touched me. Especially because Cale truly means it, as we find out throughout the story. While he often justifies his actions to himself as "self-serving", Cale doesn't actually need to help Choi Han to make the plot progress. Quite the opposite, really: he's trying to get rid of him as fast as possible. Dismissing his request would be actually more beneficial to him. But he still does help him out. You can't fool me, you little tsundere you: you already care about this dangerous protagonist whether you like it or not, Mister!

Choi Han seems touched as well, although it's pretty subtle. I really like that expression. It really is masterfully drawn, you can interpret it in SO many ways. I love it.

Cale starts leaving thinking about how he'll need to get more allowance today, since he'll be spending lots of money. Rons says that he will follow his command, and Cale reflects how going through hardships together will form bonds between them as companions (Cale, I cannot express how off you are with that train of thought right now, lol...).

Both Ron and Choi Han stare after him (Choi Han has a pretty close-to-camera "no-eye" shot – so many in this chapter! – but with his fringe it looks tolerable... 2/5), and Ron reflects on how "that fearless puppy" doesn't like sour things but drank the lemonade anyway, concluding that Cale is afraid. He starts to wonder if he "knows something", probably referring to his secret assassin identity.

Choi Han speaks up to Ron and tells him to lead the way (rather rudely, but in the English version it's harder to tell, as Korean has different formal and informal ways to address people). Ron thinks how Choi Han "pretends to be clean, but keeps releasing the scent of blood". I am not 100% sure what it means in a fantasy setting – is Ron talking about something like danger/bloodlust, or can he literally tell that Choi Han had killed people through some supernatural means?? Anyway, he considers him "quite the twisted punk". Choi Han is looking at Ron suspiciously (another very nice image; once again, Choi Han's expressions are amazingly drawn by the artist, I am honestly in awe), but when Ron tells him to follow him, he does. However, not before sending one last glance at Cale walking away.

You might want to avoid getting involved with the protagonist, Cale, but I'm sorry to tell you... you're too late. Clearly, you've already caught his attention. Good luck with that, you unlucky bastard! 😂

And thus, Cale and the two fighters walk in the opposite directions (with a VERY weird-looking shot of "no-eyes" Ron: seriously awkward! 4/5!!), ending the chapters.

As you can probably tell, what I enjoyed most in this chapter was Choi Han's expressions. They were really, REALLY good. I love this art-style, despite its flaws. A very enjoyable chapter overall!

was born and raised in vancouver, canada up until his high school graduation

took ap classes + summer classes so he’s able to graduate high school earlier than most students, hence he’s a young 3rd year undergrad

in middle school, he made a band with ( @kwjun​ ) called “losers who are learning to love themselves”, really hammering that losers club aesthetics! he’s trying to revive it right now with a new lineup

is the lead guitarist and main vocalist! 

had been into photography since he was elementary school. his older brother bought him a toy camera and ever since, he finds himself enamored by the idea of capturing fleeting moments into the lenses of his camera and ‘immortalizing a second’

joined a lot of photography competitions/events back then! won a few, lost a few, he’d end up in second place sometimes. he’d still sign up for them now in uni when he can

left canada and flew to kr to leave... something behind... but ironically...

honestly, I was quite a bit pissed with Rafael last chapter but I get his point now. He didn’t wanna make that choice. The system forced him. Poor baby (I might also be feeling more empathetic now because yk- he’s d***)

I actually really liked the chapter. Everyone’s arguments were very valid tbh. Nobody was wrong. Considering everything, I think they handled it pretty well only.

I remember one of your recent asks where someone had asked about parental conflict and you said that there’s not too much of parental conflict. I get it now. SINCE YOU BASICALLY KILLED ONE-THIRD OF THE KIDS? Can’t do parental conflict without kids huh!??? VERY CLEVER SIS-

I read a quote which said that there’s a term for every type of death. When your parents die you’re called an orphan. Thank you. The "conversation" was not easy to write because I didn't want to take sides and I didn't want it to seem like one person was right and the other was wrong - it's often not the case in such situations.

How people are affected by these kind of laws (and resulting problems) often depends on who those people are. The way this situation affects Alec and Rafael is different. They are both right and they are both wrong. The key is to of course find common ground.

Dr. Bonnie Barstow is dutifully diligent with all of her work. She obsesses over even the most minuscule and trivial details to achieve perfection. It’s one of the many reasons she’s been added to the staff at the University of San Francisco under the supervision of the reputable David Halston.

It’s virtually unfathomable how much damage an ill-programmed microchip the size of a finger-nail could inflict. A twisted sense of insatiable fascination clutches a bewitching grasp over her complete attention. The tiny chip captured under the view of the highly advanced microscope was an absolute marvel with it’s bright ridges of gold along with it’s small valleys and backroads paved in a far duller shade of silver. It’s a coded maze that Bonnie can easily interpret. One infinitesimal change to the programming can mean the difference between life and death. Bonnie’s searching, seeking out the one piece of the prototype keeping it from functioning as designed. She could never and would never give the go-ahead on anything that could be considered dangerous. Even more so given the incidents that occurred because of Karr.

“There’s a call for you on line four, Bonnie.” Comes Halston’s abrupt half-careless words. Placing indelicate hands upon the slopes of her shoulders, he continues. “I’m starting to feel like your personal secretary.” It’s a gripe he made in earnest. He’s been, in no uncertain terms, telling her former associates to stop calling for months now. That Bonnie’s happier here without them hounding her. He delighted in being able to get her to refuse their offers to have her return. Of course, David hadn’t bothered to asked permission to make those direct assertions. He just did. Dr. Halson needed her. Even if Bonnie wasn’t fully aware of it, she had become vital to the success of his and Margo’s operations.

He leans over her shoulder to take a non-committal glance at her progress with the microchip. “It’s quite strange really.” He cryptically starts. The rest of the explanation failing to come as an immediate continuance.

Skeptical, Bonnie’s turquoise orbs lift towards her revered mentor while he speaks. Worry warps her usually beautiful countenance as she discovers herself clinging to his every utterance. Every easy breath hinged upon what would come next.

When her attention is fully upon him, he reveals against the shell of her ear all that he’d been biting back. “It’s a hospital near Los Angeles. A nurse Langly from Hoff Medical Center or other. She ‘claims’ it’s urgent.” There’s a deep trench of sarcasm imbued when his lips reach the word “claims”. He is well aware that she has no real family in the city. At least no one she should want to have contact with, given all the bridges he’s helped her burn. The remnants of her family were located in Boston. His eyes befall her with the great expectation that she’d pass it off.

Halston’s blasé indifference to the potentially serious situation doesn’t settle right with her. It lays like a load of swallowed bricks and mortar, in the formation of a thick, impenetrable, unmovable wall might; uncomfortably heavy. “I...” She swallows thickly, “I’d better get that.” The brunette rises from the stool she had been occupying and brushes past him. “It’s probably a crank call.” Arrives her half-hopeful utterance as she moves towards the thick plastic phone.

Sweeping a buoyant wake of chestnut barrel-rolls from her face, she lifts the receiver to her ear. “Dr. Barstow speaking. How can I help you?” She answers. Her lower-lip tucking between her teeth as she actively listens to the other voice. Twirling her fingers around the curly-q chord, she attempts to sort her thoughts. “Wait? What?” Panic bubbles upwards in her tone. Her once lax stance stiffens against the nearest wall. Her grip on the phone tightens to prevent it from slipping from her hand. “Are you sure?” A pause. “Could you repeat that name again?”

Nurse Langly patiently repeats, “Michael Long.” After a few seconds, she adds, “you’re his emergency contact.”

The warmth and color that usually could be found in Bonnie’s features drains as the gravity of the situation is rapidly dawning upon her. This was either a twisted macabre prank or it was a genuine emergency. Hardly anyone outside the Foundation knew that name or the history behind it. To invoke that name was to tug at Bonnie’s heartstrings. She has no other choice but to go investigate. If it was Michael and he was in trouble, she would never be able to forgive herself for ignoring his call.

Was it possible that he still had her number in his wallet? That Michael had never gotten around to changing his ICE list? If he hadn’t- why?

“Keep him there as long as you can.” Bonnie tersely instructs. Her heart skips a series of beats as she continues, “I’m leaving now.” With a glance down at her own delicate wrist watch, she calculates the amount of time it’ll take her to get that location. “I should be there in a few hours.” As she puts down the receiver, Bonnie contemplates ringing Devon and the Foundation. But she doesn’t. Not until she can fully ascertain if this is a joke or not.

Halston snags the frantic brunette’s wrist as she races towards the door. Throatily he demands, “where do you think you’re going? I didn’t give you permission to leave, and I know class hasn’t been dismissed. If you leave in the middle of our project, you’ll be costing the University thousands of dollars. You’re potentially destroying any hopes you had of a scholarship.” His concerns obviously rest with their work.

She wrestles her arm back from her professor’s clutches. Turquoise orbs darken when they lock upon Halston’s. Her expression is obviously deeply wounded and yet, out of respect for her mentor, she delays. “I’m sorry. I have to go...” Her words leave no uncertain airs about them. “I’ll be back when I can.” Bonnie is well aware that her defiance of direct orders could potentially cost her this incredible opportunity. Yet, she does not care! The Foundation has and always would be a primary concern for her. It didn’t matter how much time had elapsed since her employment with them, they were her family.

Bonnie is keenly aware that Halston is beckoning for her, yelling intangible words in her wake. She doesn’t dare turn back now with her feet already set on a steady course.

Only one thought prevailed as the brunette lunges past other students and into the parking-lot. Michael Knight could be in real trouble, and he needed her. She can’t fathom any set of circumstances that would require resurrecting a name that should have been buried. In her gut, she knows something is terribly amiss. But what?

Seven hours of the endless highway and traffic sprawled between the former partners. Every minute of that time seemed to conjure up a fresh, new fear as to what the explanation could be. Internally, she had been running herself through an extensive list of people who knew Michael Knight before he was the man she’d grown to love. Stevie was murdered. Tanya walker died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Vernon Gray and the others were in rotting in jail.

With the review of every case, came the discomforting realization that Michael and the Foundation were in the habit of making ruthless adversaries. Some of them were worse than others.

A startling thought does occur to her. Garthe and Elizabeth Knight knew about Wilton’s pet project. He knew that his father rescued Michael Long from that cold Nevada desert. However, Garthe and Goliath had taken a swan dive off a cliff. He couldn’t be pulling a crude trick like this. He had to be dead. Or was he? Worse still, could this be the work of Garthe’s vengeful mother? No. Why would they call her for help and risk the Foundation foiling another one of their wicked plots? They wouldn’t. Not even if they were aiming for the absolute annihilation of Wilton’s every dream.

Could it be the Chameleon? No. The man couldn’t have uncovered Knight’s former life. As far as the skilled impersonator knew, Michael had always existed as Knight. His previous life was a mystery. Or so Bonnie hoped it had remained an unsolvable riddle.

Every trudged up possibility seems to leave Bonnie with more unanswerable questions. She returned, time and time again, to square one. Frustration wells up inside of her veins as the brunette settles on the idea that Knight’s run into deep trouble on an investigation. This had to be a cry for help.

Whilst Bonnie Barstow was not known for speeding, her foot increases the pressure on the gas pedal. The rev of the engine increases. Tires find themselves turning over at a quicker and quicker rate. All four heated rubber tires give a squeal of relief when she finally pulls up in front of the Hoff Medical Center.

With haste, she abandons her car in the parking-lot and races inside. Flagging down the first nurse she can find, she spurts out. “Please, I’m here for Michael Knight.” Entreating eyes catch the vacuous look to the nurses eyes and she repeated her words. “I’m Dr. Barstow. I got a call at the University where I work. I’m here for my - Michael Knight...” Ah, that’s where the issue dwells. She cringes before correcting herself. “Michael Long.”

That name garnered the desired knowledgeable reaction from the nursing staff. “This way.” The blonde nurse instructs taking up the lead through the sanitized hallway, armed with her clipboard.

“Can... can you tell me what happened to Michael?” Bonnie fearfully presses. She swallows down every fear collecting inside of her veins and penting-up in her chest. Having a breath catch in her throat, she manages to choke out. “Is he -- is he alright?” The concern taking up residence in the concentric confines of her eyes is genuine. Lord knows, she wouldn’t be able to cope with losing him.

The nurse keenly eyes her. The sympathy evident upon all of her etched features. “We’re looking at a mild concussion and bruised ribs. He’s lucky that nothing is broken. He must be in really good shape. Built like a tank that fella of yours is.” Any other man would have been in far worse shape.

Bonnie is too taken aback by the diagnosis to correct the woman’s assumption about her and Michael. In fact, she nearly misses the correlation as she is ushered into the room.

“He’s a real charmer. Your Officer Long is.” The nurse adds casting a wink in her direction.

Officer Long? God. It still felt anomalous to hear that in a sentence even with their extensive history together. She knew about his past. She was there the day Wilton brought Michael under his care. Until today, it had been years since that name fell upon Bonnie’s ears. Now, all of the sudden, she couldn’t seem to escape the shadow of the vastly unused moniker.

“Tried to flirt his way out of X-rays and everything.” The nurse actively points out. Her amusement with the fact is fairly obvious.

A perfectly manicured brow raises as Bonnie seats herself beside the man she knows under a very different name. “He really is. Isn’t he?” She fondly agrees. That had always been a part of the problem between them. Hadn’t it? His natural charisma instantly endeared him to almost every woman on the planet. She vividly recollects that he had tactfully employed it on more than one occasion to get what he wanted. He was kind enough to polish his act every time he attempted to use it on her.

Until the moment Bonnie cast her eyes upon Michael, it hadn’t struck her how intensely homesick she’d been for his familiar presence. Her heart gives off a series of palpable pangs against her ribcage as if it was sending Mores Code. Rescue was not bound to happen. No one could heed an unspoken SOSes. Could they? Despite her efforts to reign the unruly muscle in, it kept barreling ahead like an out-of-control freight train down the tracks.

Why was it that only Michael could arouse such chaos inside of her even when she had striven so desperately to move on? She tried to replace him with Dr. Halston and many other guys. Yet, nothing could fill that awful void that Michael left behind.

In that moment, with his large frame half swallowed by the hospital bed, she uncovers a dangerous revelation. She still loved him. As loathe to admit it as she is, those deeply-rooted feelings exist. They dwell in the undismissable realms of shadows where buried emotions and feelings are destined to remain.

Bonnie’s trembling hand gingerly brushes a dark-chestnut curl from the expanse of his warm forehead. The fluffy texture under the worn-pads of her fingers causes a familiar ache to awaken inside of her. “Michael, sweetheart....” She coos the term of endearment with a gentle insistence. She dare not startle him awake after the hell he’s obviously been put through with his injuries.

Her own lips bend into a shaky smile. “I’ve come to take you home.” His home? Her home? The Foundation? It didn’t really matter so long as he was back with people who loved and would protect him. As long as he was safe, Bonnie would never issue a complaint.

Wouldn’t it be great if Anne died (not bc of Liz) and, after realizing how upset Red is, Liz remarks to someone (Dembe or the TF) that he must have really loved her and then she’s **finally** told what went down after she “died”? How much worse that was for Red? Bc #sorrynotsorry, there’s no way his feelings for Anne could ever hold a candle to what he’s felt for Liz all these years.

In regards to Anne and I’ll leave shipping out of it here but no I really don’t want her to die. I’m tired Anon. Really exhausted with not being able to enjoy a new character or story because I’m waiting for tptb to kill them, ruin it or make it Red’s fault. WE GET IT. One of the central themes of TBL is loss but good lord haven’t we all suffered enough. Red would say hell yes we have.

So while I’m obviously not a Red and Anne shipper, I wouldn’t mind the writers closing out this arc in a new adult way that doesn’t involve her untimely death. She isn’t KR after all who I’m 1000% glad is gone. Going off the spoilers tho I guess Anne is in big time peril. Shocker!

Anyways about Liz. I just....don’t know where to start. She’s already been told many things about Red, good and bad, some true and maybe not so true. She has witnessed even more, good and bad. He has shown her unparalleled kindness, empathy, forgiveness and has done unspeakable things to protect her life. She has Agnes because of him (for a lot of reasons hehe that’s the shipper I can’t contain). So yeah if someone wants to point out to Liz that her unbelievable cruelty inflicted a lot of harm then great, but I’d like her to reach some of those conclusions on her own after all it’s not that big of a stretch given she’s a profiler. Right? That’s what we’ve been told. The problem we run into is today’s Liz with understanding and clarity is tomorrow’s oblivious Liz that acts like she just met the number four most wanted five seconds ago. They also have a real talent for writing her as an unfeeling narcissist so I’m not at all convinced she’d care about Red’s suffering. I’ve earned this skepticism the hard way Anon and I really don’t care who tells her what why how etc at this point🤷🏻‍♀️ Sorry

And not to blather on like I usually do but yes I agree that there is no comparison between Anne and Liz and how Red feels about them. It is two completely different relationships tho. Liz is surprising, unattainable, challenging, fierce and fiery. She was unexpected as was that fist in his stomach when he saw her walk down those steps toward him that first day. She threw him into a tailspin and he’s never recovered his balance. I do believe he loves her. I definitely believe he is IN love with her but he gets nothing in return and expects nothing. He’d never even overtly act on it. I think he just wears it like that three piece suit. It’s a part of him he can’t shake so he moves thru life carrying it behind all those protective layers, loving her quietly and deeply. Forgiving the unforgivable. It is beautiful and painful and just a bit tragic because he deserves better. Even this hardened criminal with a heart of gold deserves better which is why I understand his diversion to Kansas and desire to escape into a fantasy life that’s emotionally/physically fulfilling with a woman who is safe and steady. And with a woman he can be himself with or at least the self he’d like to be if he wasn’t a criminal spy. He is tho and that is a darkness Anne will never understand. Only Liz could find him there and pull him back. This is the love story of TBL. Red and Liz saving each other from their demons. The wonky writing aside, and I do mean wonky which would require a separate rant, I don’t fault Red for 8.13. I get it but Lizzington owns my soul and I will always believe it would have been unique and beautifully brave to see play out. That’s not The Blacklist these days therefore Liz is Liz and Red’s escape became a bloody mess but god I’d love nothing more than to watch them surrender to what is driving them apart because that collision of feeling would set this show on fire. As you say Anon, nothing would compare.

For now I’ll go on believing in Red’s unrequited romantic unspoken love for Liz and will know he paid a very high price for it. I also think he would do it a thousand times again...as the song once said. Cheers

While I’m thinking about it, some math and thoughts about General Liu.

Liu is effectively a DPS doll without a skill cooldown. Her base stats are excellent for this - 139 FP and 40 ROF are well above average by early GFL standards are still hold up well in modern content, and she’s more than accurate enough for her main damage to be reliable even at night. 

The active component of her skill shifts her stats around a little depending on her focus; rear-focus gives her effective stats of 36 RoF, 166-ish FP, while vanguard focus gives her only 125 FP but a very impressive 48 RoF. Neither of these statlines are really all that good on their face, though. Liu’s real damage potential comes from the passive component of her skill, which spawns in a number of reinforcements behind the echelon that have a shadow of Liu’s own stats. 

At max level, Liu’s passive skill summons 9 additional dummy links, each of which have 35% of her FP, 60% of her RoF, and 40% of her accuracy. The loss of accuracy is actually very painful for her, but we’ll talk about that later; for now I just want to focus on her actual damage potential. 

Based on some KR footage I found, Liu’s reinforcements take about 4 seconds to arrive and begin shooting, so she effectively has a 4-second initial cooldown but infinite uptime. We can try to compare her damage ability to other RFs we’re more familiar with by figuring out what “percentage” of Liu’s own innate damage her reinforcements are capable of dealing. So -- if Liu herself has 166 FP and 36 RoF, at 5x dummy links she deals 830 damage per volley with 0.72 volleys per second, for an effective DPS rating of 597 - just barely shy of 600 damage per second.

(Liu does way more damage than this in practice - this isn’t accounting for fairies/formation buffs or critical damage. But because her reinforcements also receive these benefits and scale exactly identically with Liu herself, ignoring them makes the math simpler.)

Each of Liu’s reinforcement dummies deals 35% of her FP (58) and fires with 60% of her RoF (21). Each one has an individual DPS rating of 24.36 - absolutely tiny! - but since there are nine of them, they contribute a total of about 219 DPS overall. Comparing that to her base DPS, they’re effectively increasing her damage by about 35%. 

That probably sounds pretty weak. M14 - the benchmark for Good DPS Rifle - increases her damage by 65% - almost double Liu’s effective boost - and has a critical damage steroid on top of that. Seems like she should outperform Liu by miles. So how come in this footage, Liu is clearly keeping up with, and even outdamaging M14 MOD? 

There are a couple of reasons I can think of for Liu to outperform her. Firstly, M14′s buff isn’t active all of the time. In a long fight like this one, M14′s damage steroid is only active 62% of the time, so her damage output on average is only 40% higher than if she didn’t activate her skill at all. Liu’s reinforcements don’t improve her damage as much, but once they’ve joined the fight, they’re there to stay (mortars and other AOE damage notwithstanding). 

Skill uptime by itself does explain why their performance is so much closer; M14′s base stats are also considerably worse (her base DPS rating is only 488, 19% lower than Liu’s), so even with the additional critical damage her Mod skill offers, it makes sense that their performance would be very similar. 

That said, Liu’s skill is very unique and particular in its function, and just because their performance is similar in a prolonged battle against a large number of targets doesn’t mean they can be used interchangeably with one another. M14 and other dolls like her deal substantial burst damage during their skill duration, which allows them to deal with powerful enemies more quickly - but makes her vulnerable in the event that she can’t kill every threat before her skill runs out. Liu won’t be able to deal as much damage quite as rapidly, which may make her vulnerable against powerful enemies like Hydras or Doppels that need to be killed as fast as possible - but her performance is much more stable and she won’t suffer from any downtime, making her easier to use in very long fights. Since Liu’s additional damage comes from extra shots and not a strict stat buff, she’s also much better at dealing with large groups of enemies, and is less likely to waste damage via overkill. Also. Liu’s Vanguard Focus mode actually improves her DPS slightly and can give her a strategic niche, in situations where frontline targeting would be preferred over backline targeting. 

As downsides, Liu will deal substantially less damage against heavily armored targets unless her AP completely shreds the enemy’s armor - any damage reduction will effectively apply to her twice or even three times as often as other rifles. Additionally, nighttime accuracy is a serious problem for her. Her reinforcements only have a base accuracy of 35 - enough to function effectively during the day, but incredibly inconsistent at night, particularly against crowds of infantry like you might otherwise be tempted to use her for. She’ll perform just fine against standard 0-EVA armored enemies, but her Commander should take care before fielding her against endgame-level Paradeus and other elite challenges where she’s more likely to lose damage compared to a single very accurate rifle like R93 or SKS.

Why im not liking Zero One

Sorry I just have to take this opinion out!! And this will be large... please, excuse me!

Now that Zero One is in his second quarter... we can clearly say that the series is not beginning and see more or less what to expect.

I wanted to do ep reviews as i did with Build... but i stopped in ep 3 or 4 (i dont remember). Because im not enjoying so much the series. Is curious how i see almost everyone saying how great it is... but i dont see that greatness. Once again may be this is just a matter of like and preferences, and ofcourse they are valid... but i see in Zero One mistakes that no other KR series have done. In fact i think Zio was a better show than Zero One... and Zio definitely had alot of inconsistences and mistakes, so saying this... is alot. We have begun the Reiwa era of Kamen Rider series with the wrong foot!

Before some one excuse Zero One with the comment that is a kids show... in fact the beauty of Tokusatsu shows is that they are aimed for kids (generaly), but adults can watch it and enjoying like a kid does. I think the most important part of a toku show is the message, no matter if they are made for sale toys, they have beautiful messages, they teach awesome values to kids and adults. Now probably this is the most big mistake that Zero One is doing... giving a wrong message. And may be this is just my perception but let me explain the mistakes that im seeing in Zero One that are conected to the message:

a) Unknow protagonist: I exposed this before... but i will say it again, where and with who Aruto lives? and why is so important to know this? There are stories that this is not important but in a plot like Zero One’s, it’s important... and alot because the series is about his family bussiness. To this point of the series... ep 16-17 are alot of tiny but significant things of Aruto that are unknow. Basic things that makes us conect with the protagonist like a place called home?, friends? people that he interacted before? No matter if all the important plot revelation will be about Aruto’s story... to this point... not knowing our protagonist is a big NO. I can’t connect with Aruto, can’t like him because i not know him.

b) Bad use of the cast: Zero One forcibly want to keep the premise that there are three bands: Hiden, AIMS and Metsuborinjai (ZAIA). The show keep saying to us: Aruto only have Izu and only Izu (even the opening show us this). Fuwa is alone wolf. Yua could be a team with Fuwa sometimes. And there are the bad guys that are working for the big evil.

Aruto don’t question anything, all the powerups are with out a lessons, everything is given to him in a silver tray by Izu. Izu is just a cute robo girl that does everything for the protagonist (a perfect fabricated waifu for boys). Fuwa is your hot blooded character that will not change no matter what?! (very manly). Yua is the rude and inteligent girl that we don’t know anything about (because she was created only for be the waifu for the girls). Jin and Horobi are the cool and the most interesting villains with potential that will be set aside by a white Kuroto.

All this makes the cast don’t interact in the episodes (even in Zio they interacted more) and when they do... are just for explain things. The only good interaction was between Metsuborinjai... because they felt like a family, they had a bond may be artificial but Jin and Horobi were father and son. Jin was a child that didnt knew anything. And they were left aside by a plain character that we didnt knew since the beginning.

I keep saying: Zero One needs more cast. Because even if Aruto have Izu... i feel he doesnt have a friend. Izu dont make Aruto character shine, she just make Aruto character worse. (sorry Izu, is not you, are the people who created you).

c) Message / Humans or humangears: Where are the humans in Zero One? I don’t see the humans, i see more humangears than humans! Even if Aruto keep saying that he want a future where humans and humangers coexist in armony is obvious his preference to humangears... In a society like japan this message will not have a problem? I mean... will you love more a machine than a human? In fact is more easy to love a machine than a human. But it’s not this a problem in japan (and not only in japan) already? Loving more a 2D character than real people. This kind of message and problem is far better explained and told in Astroboy and other series and movies. So yes...i feel Zero One is moving away from humanity and i don’t like that specially in a kids show. I bet that kids prefer Izu to Yua, because Izu will make them the homework in seconds. X,D (you see the problem here with the message? and here im not talking how this have awakened the obscure side of the fandom).

I could add that i dont like the suits and that the cgi looks really cheap but this is just only my perception. (suits are always well made, but Zero One suits desing is not my liking).

Now... Zero One have not ended, it have more or less 30 eps left. 30 episodes where Aruto can shine and think by himself, where Yua leave Gai side and made a full team with Fuwa, where Fuwa gives up the Aruto jokes and befriend with him, where Izu can talk like normal people and be friend with another humans and humangears. Where Jin and Horobi are reprogramed and are like father and son (let me dream). About Gai... i dont expect anything about him... because, as almost everything is Zero One, we don’t know much about him, except that he is older and looks younger and he knew Aruto’s grandpa.

I really hope that Zero One get better, at least with character interaction. Even if the story is not good, characters can save the show (as Zio or Ryusoulger).

having watched TROS for the second (and final) time in the cinema, here’s my full spoiler abundant review, also with comments on the nonalogy as a whole.

the movie works a lot better aka is more enjoyable the second time. we know what’s happening and i could relax and enjoy even the dumb moments and allow myself to feel, to be washed into the music and just feel my good feelings towards the finale.

the plot is still dumb as rocks, with the new old villain, resurrected. who not only is back but is giving our heroes a chance to find him before all shit breaks loose. why is the emperor so fucking arrogant?? why did TROS/JJ keep arguably the worst plot from TLL namely the race against a certain but exact time to do something to save the day?

the rey as palpatine still makes no sense. why did the jedi (in particular obi wan) call to her when she has the first force vision back on takodana if rey’s a palp?? JJ truly pisses on his very own movie isn’t he? and the emperor himself, he wants rey dead, twice he tells this verbatim to KR and then comments the rey killing plot was foiled to commander pryde...but then he actually welcomes her with open arms? or did he foresee his new death by rey should she reach exogol still alive? why should this death stick? ugghghgh.

the movie moves at record pace, no time to grieve, no time to catch your breath. the falcon/poe does impossible feats. the trio is united only to trail rey, finn in particular acting like a puppy. the only scene with finn that had any weight and developed his character was the scene with jannah when they’re fixing the falcon. BUT even then...i thought it was fine for the Force to guide finn out of his servitude. but maybe let the other former stormtroopers have some fuxking free will. not the force guiding them. there were so many moments when finn could’ve inspired former fellow stormtroopers to put down their weapons, but no. the spy could’ve been a stormtrooper, not the ridiculous hux doing things out of spite...

the worst scene in the movie? rey going on a fucking stroll on pasaana to meet kylo ren’s ship...and before that, the knights of ren literally posturing on a rock. i laughed out loud in the cinema it was so utterly ridiculous.

it’s all fucking plains, the fucking audience could see rey advancing through ochi’s ship screens. but somehow chewbacca gets captured and there’s a second transporter. the whole scene plays just so we can set up rey’s sith lightning abilities..?? fucking hell.

c3po’s sacrifice works for me. it’s the first moment of the rewatch where i got truly emotional and shed actual tears. and it’s not really cheapened by his memory being restored, since Finn actually mentions r2 might have a backup which 3po dismisses in his usual fashion. so 3po actually believed he was going to be fully erased. and that’s what matters. i found the 3po humour almost on par with the OT, although sometimes poe’s wayyy too aggressive with him. (i mean, poe loves droids, or at least his droid bb8, but is awfully dismissive of both 3po and D-O, just to fill in the han role i guess? it’s overdone)

the fight on the destroyer/kimiji is ok, again rey with the aggressive stance and the reveal is....nothing. rey has NO fucking reaction. she like scrunches her nose a little. she was just told the JJ equivalent to luke finding out vader’s his dad and rey’s just like. oh okay. bummer.

she should’ve fucking jumped like luke did. and maybe be retrieved on the falcon somehow. she should’ve expressed some pain. but no. rey’s just as calm as before. maybe even calmer, now that she knows the whole truth.

the death star sequence. dumb as hell to imagine the dagger has coordinates to the fucking wreckage of DS2??!??! who made it and when??!?!??! but let’s not overthink this. you get force powered rey making the ride with the skimmer and finding herself attacked by dark!rey..and then kylo come by and apparently knows this? because he tells her that now she’s tainted and can’t go back to leia either??!

WHAT THE FUCKKKK does JJ not know how the fucking force works??? i mean was it a fucking inside joke when han says that’s not how the force works in TFA??? uughghghgh. i know TROS is trying its best to almost completely retcon TLJ, but the way the Force was described there, like a balance, decay from where new life spawns, THAT WAS A GOOD THING FFS!!!!

no, JJ thinks that jedi are all pure beings and sith are dark brooding monsters and if a jedi or equivalent has even the faintest connection to the dark side, they’re fucking done!!!!!! (when the FUCKING OT SAYS THE FUCKING OPPOSITE, even a shred of goodness can help you get back to the light)

and if that was SUPPOSED to be KR’s way of getting rey to join him on his fieldtrip to exogol...my god he’s fucking dumb as hell. rey’s resisted his offer every fucking time (altho during the force call on pasaana he tells her he will turn her and she says we’ll see. she didn’t say no lmao), why would she fucking say yeah sure now? just because she had a fucking vision of dark herself??!?!?

still, dark!rey is fucking hot and i will probably cosplay her sometimes soon.

then comes the kylo - rey fight on the death star wreckage, where she attacks him, she’s aggressive, and is bested. and he’s about to kill her (even though he told her he has other plans, LOL) and then leia calls. or her call to her son finally reaches him (no more voicemail) and he falters, drops the saber and is impaled by rey.......who also senses leia’s passing.

and we have ben again and the scene with han solo plays and it’s pretty fucking emotional. but i wish he had said father and not dad. dad feels unearned. father would’ve worked best, especially for such a serious, stoic char like ben, dad is far too playful. i would’ve wanted a moment more of ben mourning his mother too, but the movie’s gotta be done in 30 mins so we have no time for allowing emotional moments to sink in. note: finn & poe are in such a rush to get to leia they don’t even have time to wait a sec to be told properly that she’s fucking dead. fuck you movie.

the scenes with luke are good. of course, luke backtracks all of his development in TLJ (because fuck you that’s why) and apparently everyone knew she was a palpatine but they still trained her because fuck logic? this is just like the PT where they end up training anakin because they made a promise to a dead guy. lmao. and how convenient is that there’s another lightsaber, otherwise how would rey make an x at the end to (presumably) end palpatine?? hmmm. i said the jedi leia scene/flashback worked for me the first time i saw it, but in hindsight, the scene and motivation really takes a steaming dump on leia’s character, a mother afraid of her son and unwilling to help him. fuck you JJ. we never needed leia wielding a lightsaber. we only wanted leia using the force in some way that felt organic to her character. (sidestep: up until attack of the clones? when yoda first uses a lightsaber, i assumed he was enlightened and didn’t need actual weapons to wield the force. well, i hoped leia could be like that enlightened master yoda. but like all bad things in the SW universe, she ended up being as awful as puppet yoda with a toothpick lightsaber, cause how would we know she’s a jedi otherwise????)

so. because she refused kylo, and ended up alone on exogol and with the resistance trapped there, she’s actually considering palpatine’s offer??! and realises she has maybe another option when she senses ben’s there too??! then why the fuck didn’t they go together??!?! oh wait. i forgot she wanted to exile herself on ach-to LMAO.

and still. the whole palpatine plot train-wreck could’ve still worked had they actually used the pretty cool concept of Force Dyad for something good. i mean, KR tells this to rey on the destroyer. but apparently palp can’t do the math and is surprised when he takes a sip of their life essences??! like what the actual fuck, why isn’t palpatine aware of this?? if he (+plagueis) made vader and then he conceived his son. and then vader had leia and leia had ben and palp’s son had rey........why is KR able to put this together and not the FREAKING MASTER PUPPETEER of the whole fucking galaxy??!?!

anyway. back to the force dyad. we have awsome ben solo and rey reunited. ready to fight palps. but no. he freezes them and sucks the life force out of them. maybe the power of the force dyad of light users could be harmful to a sith?!??! maybe the power of a force dyad would help ben & rey resist palp?! maybe the power of a force dyad could be used to defeat palp?

but no. we get ben solo thrown into a pit so that palp and rey could reenact whitney houston’s hit

or, even worse, the year’s most anticipated battle of one liners: endgame. yeah, it was cool to hear all the jedi clamouring for rey, but this could’ve still worked as the jedi finally supporting ben skywalker organa solo for fucking once in the guy’s lifetime.

but no. JJ said fuck ben solo. he’s only good to give the life back to rey, then he can fuck off. i am not a reylo and i am not too bothered by ben’s death, as much as i am by his misuse. i mean, in such movies, we never really have to deal with reformed bad guys making amends. vader died, and so in a way, ben dying too and not having to be courtmartialled is actually convenient.

i have read some analysis where ben & rey being happy together is the undoing of anakin’s sad demise and brings peace to the skywalker line rather than pain and despair and that’s a valid premise, but realistically, ben’s death makes sense. they’d never be happy together in a hut somewhere, because ben still has to pay for a lot of damage. BUT his death is nothing but the crippling of the skywalker line, after a palp had defeated the palps. his death has little meaning in the story. them being a force dyad has little meaning, apart from powering palps back to his rots appearance. lmao

and finally, the death of ben is never mourned, never acknowledged. no-one is even told on screen about his return to the light (maybe maz felt it, when leia’s body vanished...) and his deeds. that kinda sucks. because luke took a moment to have a ceremony for vader, the force ghosts came through. here...we get nothing.

and then rey buries the anakin saber and leia’s saber on tatooine in sand no less (we need a sketch of anakin loudly complaining to rey about this)... and instead of finally accepting herself as being sufficient, she tacks on the legacy name. well done JJ.

(that was me when the credits rolled).

now, i love the OT more than life itself and the films give us meta to fill libraries. they are not perfect movies, but they are good, they tell a wonderful story with amazing characters and i will never stop loving them.

then the PT is made of really bad movies that now, in the light of TROS, surprisingly still come together as a trilogy far better than the ST lmao.

i still believe that the PT undermines and ruins Vader’s redemption in ROTS, because now you know exactly what he did (reminder: killed 30 children) and it’s hard to swallow. in the end, he dies to save his son and takes down the big bad so we can accept that he gains redemption in luke’s eyes alone and not necessarily in the audience’s. but ben solo didn’t even get that. he got thrown into a pit and crawled out only to give rey life lol.

anyway, TFA was okay at first, but i always had a huge gripe, aka the misuse of Leia and the complete silence on her being a Force user. like don’t even need ligthsaber fights from her, just gimme something explicit of her using the Force. she could’ve at the very fucking least sensed KR when he swoops in and abducts Rey on Takodana. but no. JJ fridged Leia from the get go, because he had no clue what to do with her. and then he fucked her character completely with what he believed was the flashback the fans wanted....UFHGHGHGH

JJ also and truly fridged Luke, because he had no idea what to do with Luke and the whole Force legacy either. he wanted to write a fun Han Solo adventure and by gods he did.

so, Luke. the guy vanishes the opening crawl tells us. he wasn’t abducted, so he must’ve exiled himself. people hating TLJ’s so called character assassination when it comes to Luke should point fingers at the real culprit, JJ. how could Luke do such a thing and run away (like JJ wrote him do) if he hadn’t done something significantly wrong?? it had to be FUCKING HORRIBLE. and so it is. because what Luke did was horrible and it set up for the fall to the dark side of poor, conflicted, manipulated and unloved Ben Solo. but had it not been THIS awful, then Luke’s self imposed exile, shame and guilt wouldn’t have made any fucking sense. so, TLJ haters, think again WHO was the person who wrote Luke running away for 10 years and allowing all that shit to happen?? it wasn’t Rian Johnson, that’s for sure. he merely justified the absence in a way that made sense plot-wise and actually character-wise too.

on repeated viewing, TFA isn’t that good, it’s a rehash of ANH and the stakes are never as good as the original movies. we all kinda know the heroes will save the day

TLJ, i liked, but the canto bight plot really falls flat. this is where RJ did some char assassinations: Poe. Poe is the cocky pilot who singlehandedly destroys the Resistance’s arsenal LMAO. and next scene he turns into sexist macho asshole trope itself, with his immediate and unfounded disdain of Holdo and her plans to keep our heroes safe. so he concocts a harebrained plan that doesn’t work. maybe it was intended as a refreshing look over this trope of barely a plan of the heroes always coming to fruition at the very last second, but the way it’s presented, it somehow really undermines all the characters involved, including newcomer Rose. at the start a breath of fresh air in the age of mindless heroics, the voice of reason,  soon enough she too is pulled apart and becomes a sudden love interest...?? she is then reduced to a side’s side char in TROS, but she has space buns, so that’s cool right? that’s what SW is all about, women in space buns. fuck!

and yet, TLJ handled Luke, Leia, KR and Rey wonderfully and laid down some great ideas, Rey having no lineage, the Force Bond between her and KR, the catalyst for KR’s fall to the dark side, the little good in him, as sensed by both Leia and Rey...and set up a finale where, i believed and hoped, KR would be the main villain.

with the trailer spelling the probable return of palpatine, i kinda lost faith in TROS before it even hit the theaters. in fact, my faith in the movie was shot the moment JJ was brought on board.

we had a new villain, another race against time to save the day, and our heroes tell us again and again that it’s fine to share the burden, that they are not alone, that there are more good guys than bad - and when the ARMY OF PEOPLE came to exogol, it’s a wonderful scene. it works for me and it did both times. i know it’s awful that no-one came to leia’s call on crait, but here lando picks up (when lando says hello there, it’s not only panties that drop) half the galaxy, but somehow it still made me well up.

but, despite this very explicit message, our heroine fights alone. she faces palps alone and almost makes a bad decision, is alone in her final battle, is alone at the end. how truly horrible. instead of having ben and rey defeat palps together, rey has to do it alone, out of faux-feminism. it’s sickening. it’s stupid. and that’s not star wars and the star wars message. luke was not alone at the end, he was with friends, with family.

but she’s from a bad bloodline and she should die childless. ughhh. totally not hopeful, totally not satisfying message to have for the finale of the skywalker saga.

This is rather short, but I’m running out of time so:

This is not a full translation, only some parts. It’s more like a abbreviation/summary/paraphrasing of some parts of the story. Do not ask me to translate more or reveal more plots in the story.

The translation is based on KR version text. I’m not a professional translator and get things wrong. So do not regard this as the actual canon story.

I used Yōurán as the name of MC because that is the unofficial default MC’s name in CN version.

I turned on the TV, there was news about the flu as usual. But they said that the patients were getting better. They found a way to control the influenza and there were some breakthroughs in finding the cure. Due to this happy news, the festival that was cancelled was planned to open again.

I went to the window and could hear cheerful shouts. It seemed like the festival was about to start.

When I turned around. I found a white envelope on the table that was empty before.

Yōurán: Who’s there?!

I looked around carefully, but there was no one in the house but me.

I opened the letter. In black stationary were the words: <14:20, I will send my honest blessing among the crowds.> The letter was signed “Queen”

Yōurán: Queen…

That’s what the Black Swan called me. Did they send this letter?

Yōurán: Among the crowds…

I looked out the window again where there were laughter and cheers.

I arrived at the central square. The crowds cheered as the parade went on but I couldn’t join in the enthusiasm. Then I saw the woman that I had saved the other day from getting hit by a bus. She went up to the front of the stage to make a speech.

The Woman: I thank you all for coming. This festival was made possible by…

I didn’t know that the woman I saved was the chief organizer of this festival.

Yōurán: She seems well. I’m glad...

The Woman: …for the happiness of everyone in Loveland City. Our future will-

She stopped in the middle of her speech. One second, two seconds, three seconds… she didn’t continue. She hung her head low, so people couldn’t see her face.

Audience A: Why did she stop?

Audience B: Did the microphone go out?

She finally looked up. Her face was pale and twisted. The corners of her mouth twitched to form the most blood-curdling smile. A sharp shriek came from her mouth.

The Woman: Enjoy what little time is left… for the end of the world is near!!

The speaker erupted out a deafening noise that was enough to drive the audience to silence. The sense of foreboding washed over me.

Yōurán: Excuse me! Let me through!

I pushed through the crowds toward the stage. I had to put a stop to this.

The time on the clock reached 14:20.

The woman screamed and I froze in my tracks. Blood was pouring out of her eyes. What was more terrifying was that her mouth was still smiling in that eerie way. Like a marionette that lost its string, she crumbled to the floor. The confetti that had been pre-programmed to fall at the end of speech sprinkled down like colorful snow. The woman had stopped breathing.

The Crowd: She’s dead!

Panic shook the crowd and everyone ran this way and that, screaming in terror. I could only stare numbly at the stage.

??: Did you think that you could change the future?

A voice whispered in my ear.

Yōurán: Who is it?!

I looked around but no one was near. Everyone was trying to get far away from the dead woman.

??: You can never change what will happen.

Yōurán: Who the hell are you?!

There was no answer.

The woman on the stage lay dead. She may have escaped her demise for a while, but fate caught up to her. I thought I changed the future, but in the end, nothing changed and everything turned out the way it was destined to be.

Yōurán: This is all my fault…

A white beam of light came down and lifted me into the air. The sky and earth reversed and I fell down to an empty black space.

I walked toward the light I could see in the distance. I soon came across a mirror. I touched the glass surface, and it rippled like it was a lake and my reflection appeared.

My Shadow in the Mirror: We meet at last.

My appearance in the mirror spoke. Her voice was very soft.

Yōurán: Why did you try to see me?

My Shadow in the Mirror: It’s pretty tough for you, right? You feel helpless because you can’t change the foreseen future. You got betrayed and lost so many people…

Yōurán: How do you know all that?

My Shadow in the Mirror: Because I am you. I know what you think. I feel how you feel. But you can do nothing to change the future.

Yōurán: Is there something you know? Please tell me!

My Shadow in the Mirror: Soon, the human race will cease to exist. Everything you care about, everything you feel attached to, they will be gone.

She spoke very calmly as if she wasn’t talking about the end of the world.

My Shadow in the Mirror: But if you were to do one thing, everyone can be saved.

Yōurán: How do I do that?

My Shadow in the Mirror: …by sacrificing your life.

I took a step back.

Yōurán: This doesn’t make sense at all…

She stepped out of the mirror and grabbed me.

My Shadow in the Mirror: Did you think that peace would come on its own and a bright and happy future would happen without lifting a finger?

Yōurán: I don’t want to hear this anymore.

My Shadow in the Mirror: The world is facing calamity. Human civilization will be wiped out. Everyone will die, but death is not the end. It means a new beginning.

Yōurán: I cannot agree with that…

I struggled to get away from her but it was no use.

My Shadow in the Mirror: Remember, it takes all the running you can do, just to keep in the same place. And Queen is the last puzzle of evolution.

My Shadow in the Mirror: You are Queen. And I am you. Queen’s duty and fate was in front of your eyes all the time.

I looked at my face. It was the same face but the eyes held no mercy.

She disappeared into the darkness.

When I opened my eyes, I was standing alone on the street. No one could be seen. I was alone in the center of the city.

The virus was worse than ever. There were casualties now. Half the city was dying sick, the other half was cowering in fear. Death was waiting for everyone. All hope was gone and everyone was dreading the doomsday that would inevitably come.

I scrolled through my contacts. Most of them were unreachable to me.

Victor was still out there time travelling. He said that everything was fine in the future. That had to mean that the virus will be cured, that this was not the end of the world, that everyone is going to live.

What saved everyone from this catastrophe then? Was what she said true? Was I the key to stopping the world from dying?

I kept wondering about what she said. About what I must do as my duty and fate as Queen. I didn’t want to know if she was right or not.

Then I dreamed that I pushed her away and kept running into the unknown. The place arrived was empty and nothing was in there.

Was this the future that she talked about? The future with no life left on earth. If I refused her and neglected my duty and escaped my fate, would this come to reality?

I wanted to hide. I wanted to run away. People could call me a coward. I just couldn’t face this anymore.

Yōurán: Dad… please tell me what to do…

I thought of the last day I saw him before he died.

Yōurán: Dad… if I can never be brave like you… will you be disappointed in me?

Grandpa Chuck: No, child. Your father will respect your choice.

Yōurán: Grandpa Chuck? How did you come in here?

He sat down next to me and handed me a handkerchief.

The story is from the perspective of a clown who hands out balloons to children in a theme park. He encounters a tall strange man(Victor) who wears old-fashioned clothes and buys things with credit cards. Who uses credit cards these days? And he still uses cell phones! Weren’t they all in museums? The clown suddenly thinks that the man is either a criminal or a time traveler but waves the thought away thinking that he’s been watching too many sci-fi movies.

He lends Victor his futuristic device and casually mentions the influenza incident ten years ago. According to him, the flu epidemic suddenly came and killed thousands of people including his brother. The doctors couldn’t find a remedy, but one specific day, for reasons unknown, everyone got cured miraculously.

Victor uses the device to research the name Yōurán(MC’s name) but finds nothing. He searches everywhere but finds no trace of her.

The virus vanished mysteriously. And Yōurán doesn’t exist in this world ten years later.

… Pre-warning, this is another whiny post based solely on my personal emotions. It may come off as very over the top and overrecationary, but I promise I am totally calm and aware that it’s just a tv show and that Toei does not give one flying fuck what I think.

That out of that way… Onward w/ the whining:

I am… Not excited for this alleged ‘team up.’

Vulcan and Valkyrie finally getting to beat Thouser’s ass? I love it. Gimme gimme. I love Cheetah Mom and Wolf Dad kicking ass together. I personally think they’re a great team.

Jin and Aruto… My initial reaction is: ‘Already?’

From the summaries, we’re not even talking a few eps down the line. We’re talking the ep after next. Aka, the one after the one airing this weekend.

This feels… Super rushed. On both sides, honestly, the more I think about it. Jin’s shown absolutely no interest in trusting or working w/ humans. And I can’t think of a single thing Aruto has done to give Jin a reason to trust him? Unless Jin is playing him, an alliance the ep after next seems very contrived and rushed. I really don’t want Jin and Aruto to go buddy-buddy this quickly. Friendships should be steadily developed over time w/ groundwork. This just feels like… Like Parad all over again. And please no. I want to keep loving Jin, he’s my third favourite character. I don’t want to feel tired of him.

Meanwhile, the very obvious (to me, at least) lack of Horobi in the scans, combined w/ this heavy focus on this ‘team up,’ That Preview Picture, the fact that Takaiwa isn’t on the suit actor list for next ep (don’t know about the one after)… Is scaring me. I’m very worried. Like, I know logically it’d make zero sense to break him out of the basement, update his op segment, hardly use him, and then kill him off, esp since he’s on the character blog and all, but… I’ve watched KR be very illogical before. I’m hoping this is just the pessimism, anxiety, and tiredness talking. I’m hoping they do something cool like maybe have him start going singularity next ep and stick w/ Jin and the only reason we don’t see him in those scans is bc they’re of fights he happens to not be in. That they start something that they’re gonna go into in ep 31 or something. That maybe he and Fuwa do get a subplot (I’m very quietly praying that the Jin and Aruto team up does end badly and that meanwhile Fuwa and Horobi somehow manage to find a balance and partner up—then Naki becomes a Rider and they and Yua… No, wait… Getting carried away). But, like… I’m really, really nervous that he’s going to keep hardly being around and never getting any development. And yes, I know that he’s not the main character, esp bc I very rarely fall for main characters unless I created them, but even considering his role in the story… There’s been essentially nothing. I know Jin’s the pick for the writers (I’m not surprised, either, of course, saw that coming a mile off), but I just felt like I expected them to have done at least something w/ Horobi by this point? They put a lot of build up into his relationship w/ Jin, it’s very clear that’s still a major part of his identity, and yet… It kinda feels like it’s being anticlimactically shuffled to the side, possibly in the name of this ‘team up’ w/ Aruto and it just feels so… I dunno. Like they don’t care? It feels there should be a little more going on between him and Jin than ten second scenes w/ a few lines. That he should, at this point, be being allowed to say more than ‘will of the Ark.’ I could honestly survive him dying (who am I kidding, no I couldn’t DX) as long as it felt like the show actually cared about him at all… To me, rn, it kinda feels like it’s just occasionally glancing in his direction and being like ‘oh? You’re still here?’ and scribbling something on a sticky note then calling it a day.

I know that Toei does not give two hoots what I think. I know things likely look/feel worse than they are bc I feel not great atm. But it feels like they were building up to something w/ Horobi, but now they’re just trying to shuffle him into a corner and hoping people forget about him… Which I personally feel like is an injustice to the actor and the character’s potential w/in the plot.

To end on a higher note, however… At least it seems like we might get to see more of Naki in the series.
