Just thought I'd share how I think twisteds work n stuff [headcanons]:

Twisteds are versions of the toons, aka their old bodies:

Example

A Toon gets turned into Twisted, so through some sort of "revival/tranfership" machine the consciousness/memories/ect of the currently twisted toon gets transferred into a new untwisted version of their body leaving the mindless Twisted body they were in behind

If a Toon splats they can be revived, they respawn in the lobby and have to wait for their team to come back

Sometimes it takes time for a toon to get "un-twisted " aka transferred to a new body

Mindless twisteds sometimes have copies of their Toon's memories, believing they are that toon still

This means all the twisteds encountered are the old bodies of the toons. It's really unnerving to see your previous body lifelessly follow and attack you and your friends. And, well, how many times do you get a new body until you get worried you're not the original you anymore?

The whole, Twisted thing doesn't apply to Dandy. He can go in and out of his form without needing a new body. It's painful for sure, that's why he tries not to agitate himself too much... but it's hard not to get agitated when the others ignore you.. and don't give you what you want.

A variety of factors can cause someone to get twisted, be it strong emotions, dread, or anything else. Even over exposure of ichor, their life source. An infection that's dormant, ready to awaken when it finds the right trigger.

Does this leave the toons with repressed trauma? Yep. Do some of them take it better then the others? That's why they say! But they're just trying to look tough.. or brave.

Being the star of the show, Dandy was involved with the ichor operation stuff, obviously. He would have to help his creators. After all, he was their success at making life. He was willing to help. He wanted friends. Even if there were.. downsides to the ichor that gave them life.

New idea: sometimes toons who have just been untwisted and sent into a new body experience withdraw like symptoms. They get quesy and sick, often vomiting to get rid of the remaining ichor inside them. Of course, this is difficult for some. Especially those who's first time it is dying and being "revived."
