Why is Team RWBY since the beginning present as a dangerous team?

Ok, before I begin this post I have to warn that:

1- I'm not an expert, this is based on my basic knowledge as someone that used to do martial arts as a kid, play a lot of video games and watch a bunch of anime/cartoon or read manga

2- This is going to be a long post, sorry 😞

3- You are always welcome to discuss in the replies or to correct in whatever I could get wrong, again I'm not an expert so don't be shy to call me out. Btw, English is not my first language so it's possible I could have some grammar mistakes.

4- Do not want to see any type of hate for any character 🤨

5- And last, decided to post this here because I prefer RWBY Tumblr community than Reddit one 💀

Let's begin!

When they present RWBY at the beginning of the project we got a glimpse of what they can do individually in the short films know as Red, White, Black and Yellow as well as some aspects of their character, backstory, etc.

As RWBY continued their journey we could see they seem as a force to be reckoned with when together but seem to be lacking in some aspects when they were alone.

The ones that didn't do better alone was mostly Ruby and Weiss while Blake and Yang seems to be able to hold their own alone (tho Blake seems to be in her flop era in the last volumes 💀).

So, let's talk about them as individual first.

Ruby: we all know her, leader of the team and the youngest of them all.

Ruby do pretty well alone when she's fighting Grimms, specially those that aren't that hard to go against. She's basically a prodigy and for that she got into Beacon earlier (and the fact she has silver eyes 😬).

She's the few people in Remnant that use a scythe as a weapon and she's pretty damn good with it; as told by a lot of character using that weapon is hard af so probs for her to be able to be so fucking smooth and amazing with Crescent Rose.

As told by Ruby herself in V1 while talking with Jaune, she did her weapon and here comes her first problem.

Not practical. Crescent Rose is a bad ass weapon and I absolutely love it but it's heavy and takes a lot to use it. It's a rifle as well so Ruby basically has to be a sniper to be able to go well with it.

It's a weapon that doesn't goes well with a team as can get in the way unless the user becomes a support for the team instead of being at front.

This is basically a metaphor of how Ruby is kinda a lone wolf at the beginning and awkward af with people.

But! She later gives some upgrades to Crescent Rose that helps her change the direction of scythe which give her adaptability! Which is completely important!

Now, if I take Crescent Rose away of Ruby what happens?

She's dead bro

Ruby is useless in close range combat, specifically physically one. We can see that in a lot of moments through the volumes.

She usually use her semblance as an advantage, which with her weapon works perfectly but without it is... Meh. It only helps her to speed up.

In Volume 5 Ozpin calls her out for that and then trains her, we then see Ruby being able to actually block and evade attacks without the use of her semblance... Until Ozpin took control of Oscar 💀

She knows basic stuffs, mostly with her defense but she lacks attack.

We don't actively see an improvement of this part in the future as she's seen to struggle keeping up with Harriet. Tho I'm going to give Ruby the fact that Harriet was being emotional and "aaahhh go crazy go stupid" In there.

Tho, Ruby lacks in this she make up by being a quick thinker and strategic.

She's the one that comes up with the plans and she's fast on her feet as well, she knows how to use her teammates perfectly to the point on coming up with duo attacks for them. She use her creativity to be able to defeat enemies as we can see at the end of V6 against the crazy old lady.

In general Ruby lacks close range fighting skills as well hand to hand combat + she can be really reckless and not actually think stuffs through it at first which can lead to disaster (she's getting better tho!)

Weiss: so... Oh boy, the ice queen comes next.

Her first actual win in a solo combat was Marrow if I remember correctly.

So here's the thing, as a solo fighter Weiss is the weakest link because she relies heavily in her semblance, get her someone that can break her aura fast and that's it, she loses.

But her semblance is really REALLY good.

Like she could stand in one place, do her thing and that's it but there's a thing... Weiss is too logical and sometimes narrow minded, her winning against Marrow was amazing and made me proud because she used EVERYTHING in that damn room to her favor. She was creative!

For her type of semblance that's important!

At the beginning she was too STIFF with her semblance but it got to the point where she has learned to be fast on her feet. Use her semblance in a better, creative way AND be a support in the team.

But now, without her semblance Weiss is a good fighter, being a mix of ballet with fencing/swordplay. Really pretty to see and then take off the damn weapon and she's pretty useless.

See a pattern here? Team Whiterose are completely useless without their weapons and semblance, mmmm

Overall Weiss is a freaking monster thanks to her semblance. She has gotten better to it, to control it and stuff, became more creative and less stiff as well as quick thinker but she needs to get better in hand to hand combat... Please, I'm begging.

Blake: ah yeah, our favorite emo cat girl.

So, Blake is crazy. That's it, that's everything I'm going to say about her.

Ok no, but seriously her fighting style is chef kiss

Blake use of her semblance is amazing, like this girl knows what she's doing when fighting.

Her weapons are great as well, like they are sword, a gun, then that freaking ribbon where she goes all Spiderman with everyone. Amazing!

Tho, she comes with an advantage that no other in her team has.

As explained by different characters in the series, Faunus has physical advantage over humans, not only some of them can see in the dark, but they seem to get some characteristics of the animal they are based off.

A good example is how agile Velvet is thanks to the fact she's a rabbit faunus or the way Sun jumps because of being a monkey faunus.

Blake being a cat faunus gives her ton of advantage, she's stealthy, agile, fast, listen better than the average human, etc

Combine that with her semblance, weapon and fighting style and you have an amazing fighter.

But Blake is reckless and that have cost her in the past. Not only that but while she seems to know only basic stuff in hand to hand combat, relies a lot in her semblance and lately she use her ribbon way too much.

That gives an opportunity to the enemy to take her out easily as we saw in her fight against Vine.

I'm going to say that Blake is generally a good fighter and probably one of the best in Team RWBY in general words but lately she seems to focus a lot in her ribbon which makes her an easy target, idk if this on purpose because Blake have always dislike her semblance or it just they don't know how to make Blake fighting style anymore but it kinda annoys me how she has been reduced to a damsel in distress in some fighting scenes.

Overall Blake is a top notch fighter and her weakness are small details that she slowly overcoming.

Yang: ah yeah, here comes my girl (stupid Tumblr mobile isn't letting me putting her name in yellow 😡)

As you guys know I'm a hoe for this girl so I will try to be objective here.

Yang is the strongest member of the team, not only physically but mentally as well.

So, by far she has my favorite fighting style of all the damn characters, I just love watching Yang fight. I think is because I did martial arts as a kid and then some kick boxing in college so idk.

Listen, this girl is so damn practical, her weapons are absolutely genius.

She's probably the few (maybe only one?) Character that actually took an existing fighting style and did her weapon around it + uses her semblance around it which is practical and smart af

Which comes to one of my favorite things of Yang, how tactical she is. Like Yang is what Ruby could be if it wasn't because of the damn weapon.

Like you guys don't get, Ruby weakness is Yang strength.

Yang since the very beginning showed us how of an amazing fighter she is. You thought Ruby is a prodigy? That Weiss is a monster? Blake is out of this world? Well Yang is fucking God.

I know I KNOW, I said I was going to be objective but it just MISS YANG XIAO LONG IS WHAT CINDER WISH SHE COULD BE, I SWEAR TO GOD, THIS GIRL IS BETTER THAN SOME OF THE ADULTS IN THE SHOW.

Ok ok ok

Yang is emotional tho, which cost her a lot (like A LOT, she lost her arm), in the past she was angry 24/7 (still is but baby got it under control 🥰). People are going to say "well not in v1, 2 and 3!".

I'm sorry but that girl has angry issues and the only moment she gets to be angry is when fighting so yeah, she would angry fight everyone and you know what? She still was an amazing fighter while doing so cuz she would kick everyone ass, being tactical about it, find her opponent weakness and absolutely looking hot while doing so.

Anyway, Yang doesn't have like a huge weakness like Ruby or Weiss, literally are small details. She's pretty much versatile as Ember Celica give her the option of shooting at her opponent. Since the beginning she was pretty much one of the best fighters of all the kids, probably coming second after Phyrra.

Her semblance use is pretty good as well, she seems to have a better grasp of it than some of the other kids and know how to manipulate it without overusing it.

Which btw is what made me have like a huge problem with V4 with the whole Taiyang stuff cuz Yang already knew how to fight like he was telling her, so idk I feel that was an insult to Yang as a character because the reason she lost her arm was because of stress, tired, being in battlefield and hello her partner is in danger.

RWBY

Now that I finished with them individually we can see that RWBY has 2 support fighters, 1 versatile and the other one a basically upfront fighter. Which comes in handy a lot of fights.

But it isn't this what makes them a formidable team but it's their chemistry.

Since the very beginning we see they do the most important thing in any type of relationship, communication.

As Weiss has her problem with Ruby at the beginning she end up talking with an adult about it and then getting call out for her poor behavior, that makes her change her approach to Ruby but before all that she did communicate Ruby what her problem was with her which made Ruby to talk with Ozpin and change her approach to study and her team as well.

We see that Yang and Blake goes well since the beginning as well, and they communicate a lot better than Ruby and Weiss at the beginning. To the point that we can see it in their teamwork.

When it comes to Weiss racism the rest of the team communicate her to stop it and then you have Blake and Weiss discussion about it where we got a glimpse of Weiss life in Atlas as well the revelation of Blake being a faunus and an ex member of the White Fang. This makes Blake run away which later Weiss criticized while telling her that they should talk first and communicate better.

The priority of RWBY as a team is communication. Ruby communicate her plans to the rest of the teams, Weiss her feelings, Blake her knowledge and Yang... Ok maybe Yang needs to work in this department.

This makes their teamwork really strong and their bond just continues getting deeper.

Add to this the fact they learn to use each other in a better way, as having both Weiss and Ruby as support helps a ton, Blake to distract their opponents and Yang to finish them off.

A good example of this is probably the train part in V6, where Yang fights all of the Grimms closely, Blake tends to fight them at some distance while helping out and Ruby with Weiss combination of support make the job hard for the Grimms.

This is exactly why JOYR had such a problem with a new Grimm, Yang needs someone to catch her back while she finds a way to destroy the Grimm which is usually provided by her teammates meanwhile RWB didn't had the boost of strength that Yang gives them in battle to be able to finish off the Hound.

Even in duos RWBY are a hard opponent to go against, probably the duo that would have a hard time is Freezerburn as we see in V3 and still I think if you put them fight together currently they would be a duo you wouldn't want to cross lol

They shouldn't have a problem with trios either but usually Yang is the strength of the group and basically the tank so is understandable that RWB had a hard time adapting without her there.

There's a part in the book Before the Dawn where Coco talks about RWBY and how they are a really strong team and even say that while JNPR aren't bad, they were basically carrying on with Phyrra since Jaune wasn't the fighter he is today. (Plus other problems that Renora have as fighters but this is something for other day).

RWBY in general has a great communication between the members, a great leadership, strong bonds and amazing fighters. They know how to adapt to each other styles and some members even complement each other (Yang and Blake).

Other thing that should be talk about its how basically Ruby and Weiss are too similar and too different at the same time to the point that they should clash a lot (which they used to do) but thanks to the fact they communicate their teamwork is amazing and in their own way they make it work.

It really helps that Ruby with Weiss can have the luxury to go upfront against an enemy while having Weiss to back her up which is something she can't do with Yang or Blake.

That's mostly because their teamwork is a metaphor of their own relationship as well as Yang and Blake teamwork is a metaphor of their own relationship.

Usually Weiss is the main support of her team since she's a large range fighter thanks to her semblance which is basically what she gives to her teammates outside of the battle.

RWBY basically fight is how they are with each other outside of the battle as we can see in multiple instances.

Yang being the tank and strength in their fighting style is exactly what Yang is to RWB, she's basically the heart and soul of the team and without her a lot of their attacks doesn't have the strength necessary for it to work as well as we can in V8 how long it took to RWB to know what to do while Yang already knew what she had to do with JOYR. She's the action.

While Ruby is the leader and sometimes call the shoot, she guide the girls through battle and help both with support and action. She usually starts the fight as a sniper until she sees an opening to fight up close which is a thing she actually do with her team. She takes a step back before talking with any of them and helps them navigate through situation in their lifes like promising Weiss to being on her side at Atlas to sometimes intervening between Weiss and her family.

Blake in the other hand is more of a wild card, she's usually Yang personal support as their styles complement each other but in most situations she does it on her own, unlike Ruby, Blake usually is more of an upfront fighter and only being support when Yang needs her which is a thing outside of battle. She usually does her own way, and while she support both Weiss and Ruby is with Yang where we see a more intimate support.

This is what makes RWBY dangerous, their bond and chemistry is something they worked hard to have as they started with difficulties, is a thing the 4 of them appreciate and love, it really helps they know how to communicate and do so to be able to have a healthy relationship between each other.

Right now we are finally seeing a lack of communication between RWBY, specially between Yang and Ruby.

As we all know RWBY is a direct parallel of STRQ which means this miscommunication between Yang and Ruby is important for their future as a team. Is implied that they still have each other back but it's necessary for Yang to open up to Ruby about what's going since this could create a breach if not treated.

Conclusion: stan RWBY and stan LOONA 😌

Sexuality: Honestly I thought I was straight but I haven't been sure of that in a while...doesn't help that I'm 90% sure no girl in her right mind would ask me out anyways, but I digress.

Hogwarts house: oh boy am I about to have a lot of the internet mad at me. I have no idea although a few of my friends say I'm a Hufflepuff.

Favorite animal: Cheetah ^^ I've loved them ever since I was little and I hope one day we can get their population back to more normal than what it is because I'd really like to show them to my kiddos when...if I have any and I want them to know they're still around on this Earth. ^-^

Current time: 11:48am

Cats or Dogs: I lean more towards cats but that's only because I've grown up with them. A friend I used to live with had a puppy and I love him...I miss him too and hope he's doing well. We haven't been on good terms for a bit v.v

Dream job: Veterinarian. Or at least a vet tech. I'd prefer dealing with animals and making them feel 100% rather than customer service or just humans in general.

When I made my blog: you're asking a person with the memory of a goldfish, minus some super dumb stuff. I don't remember when I made this blog at all. My guess is sometime in 2015? Maybe a bit sooner? Not sure I'm using my icon as a reference because I've never changed it.

Totally witch of the forest but if you can also mix writing into that.

4. tell us about your ideal battle outfit.

A body suit that covers everything and is made of very strong materials so that it won’t tear and will protect me from injuries (idk why the hell I would even need a battle outfit, I am not the type of person that goes well with battles). Also, def a headpiece to protect me from head injuries and keep my hair where an opponent can’t grab it and drag me by it.

5. what would you be a god/goddess of and what would people sacrifice to you?

I would be the goddess of forgiveness and people would have to sacrifice their anger and desire for vengeance to me because that’s the only way to forgive and heal.

7. scythe, battle axe, broad sword, spear or trident?

Scythes are cool, but I’m not sure how functional they are. I definitely do not get the trident as a weapon, and spears are not good weapons imo if they’re the only thing you have going into battle. Axes look cool but are a little bit brutal for my taste, I think (though, you’ll be killing people with all the weapons - it’s why they’re weapons!). I think I’d pick a broadsword. That would suit me best.

13. cabin in the woods, apartment in the city or mansion in the suburbs?

16. describe your ideal fantasy outfit

I really love the look of Regina Mills’ outfits (from OUAT) because she has the dress aesthetic but the skirt is open at the front and she wears pants underneath so that she can ride horses and, generally, be more mobile than a normal gown would allow you to be. I imagine her outfits are also a lot lighter than typical gowns were throughout history. Idk, I really like how that looks. Also, I would love some floaty veils - they look so magical and dreamy.

17. of all the fantasy races to ever exist, which one would you be?

A mermaid. God, what I wouldn’t give to be able to breathe underwater and swim with the sea creatures.

21. an evening in the forest with elves, a night in the caves with vampires or a morning in the garden with fae?

I think I’ll take the evening in the forest with elves. Though the vampires also sound kinda tempting tbh.

25. favorite childhood story? (doesn’t have to be a fairy tale)

It is a fairytale and I do know how it was called but no idea how that will be in English. Anyway, the story was about a king with three sons who sends them on a quest to bring the most beautiful puppy they can find. They have one year to do that. The brothers set out on a journey together but reach an agreement to separate at the inn they’re staying in and meet back there when the year is up. From there on we follow the youngest son who gets robbed and lost and stumbles into a castle in the woods. The door opens but he can see no one. Only floating wooden (I think?) hands that lead him through the castle. Once he’s settled in, they lead him to the owner of the castle who turns out to be a white talking cat. For the next year he stays there and the two of them have all sorts of fun along with all the other cats that live there. At the end of the year, the cat reminds him that he needs to return to his father, and he gets mad at himself because he wasted the whole year and didn’t find a puppy. She gives him a walnut and tells him only to crack it open when he gets back to his father’s palace. He meets with his brothers at the inn and sees what beautiful dogs they’ve found. Meanwhile, he’s brought a dirty mutt that his brothers mock him about. When they go to their father, though, he cracks the walnut open and from inside shows up the smallest puppy that also dances. The king is impressed but decides to give them another task. He tells them to find the finest fabric that can go through the eye of a needle for which they have a year again. The youngest prince returns to the castle of the white cat and spends the next year with her again. Then she gives him… some sort of other nut (I don’t remember what it was anymore) and sends him back to his father. When he gets there, he cracks the nut, but inside there is another nut. And another. And another. Until finally there is an entire piece of fabric in the last one that actually does go through the eye of a needle. Everyone is absolutely shooketh, but the king gives them one final task. He tells them that they need to find wives in the next year and come back to him so that he can decide who will inherit the kingdom. The youngest brother returns to the white cat again and spends that year with her as well. On the last day of his stay she tells him that at midnight he has to cut off her head and her tail and throw them into the fireplace. He starts crying because he loves her and can’t do that but she tells him to trust her and do it. He does and she transforms into a woman. She is the princess of the castle but she and her whole retinue were cursed to become cats (I don’t remember why anymore, the backstory escapes me). He takes her to his father who pronounces him the next king but the cat-turned-woman-again says that she has a kingdom of her own and so they leave the kingdom to his brothers.

Wow, I can’t believe how much I remember from that fairytale. There must have been at least ten years since I’d last read it. Anyway, yeah, I adored that tale and my grandparents and parents weren’t happy about it because it was the second longest fairytale in all the books we had and I made them read it to me all the time. It was my absolute favorite. Damn, i wanna go search for the book and read it now!

26. tell us about an experience you’ve had that seemed unreal or supernatural. (doesn’t have to be scary)

A few weeks ago I saw a cat that had these eyes that immediately let me know that that cat could understand absolutely every word I would say to it. I do think that animals in general understand us but in a reading-our-emotional-state kind of way. Not in a I-totally-get-all-the-words-you’re-saying kind of way. But I’m pretty sure that was exactly what was going on with that cat. It was kinda weird, but not a bad weird.

28. tell us three sayings that you live by.

Ah, goddammit! There are a lot of Bulgarian sayings that fit my views on life but they’re not exactly translatable, y’know?

Treat people the way you want to be treated is one principle that I *try* to follow.

Forgive but don’t forget is another principle that I believe in (I know the original is forgive and forget but I don’t believe in that. And also, remember all those things I remember from that fairytale I haven’t read in years? You think I know how to forget things? I’m a lot better with forgiving, tho, I promise.)

Everyone deserves love is a hill that I will die on tbh. I know it sounds corny, but love is the one thing that can save people and I firmly believe in that.

Not exactly sayings, but close enough for me (hopefully for you, too.)

30. describe your ideal masquerade ball outfit (mask included).

Ehh, I have no idea. It’s gotta be purple and black, tho.

Definitely splashing in a river with mermaids. God, I love mermaids.

Voicing my opinion. I have literally zero respect for authority. If you’re wrong, you’re wrong and you’d better believe I WILL call you out on it. I don’t care if you’re god or whatever.

36. would you rather be a pirate or a king/queen?

Eh, I don’t know. I really don’t want to be a queen. That’s too much responsibility that I could handle, but I really don’t want to. Can I write if I’m a pirate? If yes, then that’s settled.

I’ll do what what Kiki did and post titles of my WIPs with comments and short fragments of them? I’ll share here only my kagepro WIPs (so basically kidokano/Kano ones lol). A little warning before we start: it’s going to be very long lol bc I can’t finish fics to save a live and I have... lots of ideas, plus I never get to talk about them >.> Also they’re going to be getting gradually worse bc I’ll go from newest to ancient-est. (Full disclosure tho, those aren’t raw quotes from my WIPs bc some had so visible grammar errors, I just had to fix them + I always put notes in my works, like every second word lol) Here we go.

Comment: This is the freshiest one, I was writing bits of it merely the day before, and because of that I still naively believe I will finish and post it soon, so I won’t say anything more about it.

He didn’t even manage to finish before he felt the pair of soft lips landed on his, catching his words.

New chapter

Comment: Won’t say much about it because it’s supposed to be a gift for certain someone~ But here’s a little sneak peek 👀

That was weird. They never really talked about having any pets. They talked about having kids (as much as stating that they want to make a family together during several separate occasions counts), but the topic of having pets was never brought up and in a timespan of living together and even moreso of living alone together, they already had plenty of opportunities to get one. And yet Kano always knew that when Kido pictured their future family together there was also present a small ball of fur waving its tail and he could see it in her eyes at that moment more visibly than ever.

Comment: I was very disappointed with the knkd fanwork of that one Halloween art, so I decided to write something that would satisfy me (with no success so far rip).

The black figure that merged with the ubiquitous dark hanged up the big scythe they were holding on the wall, among the collection of similar but different in sizes scythes, proceeded to take off their shoes (but then put them quickly back on, changing their mind as soon as their feet met with the concrete) and pulled off the black hood of their cloak to reveal the long green hair, something that finally stood out in the darkness, before walking deeper into the room.

I can’t wait to fall in love with you

Comment: Inspired by well, that one sentence that is in the title and lowkey (?) by Meli’s lovely fic~ It’s the kind of fic that I myself call “(not) soulmates au”. It revolves around the idea that after so many timelines of falling in love with each other, they’re just bound to fall in love again... Even when they don’t remember their past lives...

“Oh man, I can’t wait to fall in love with you.” Kido turned her gaze towards the blond lying next to her on the couch. Her widened from being taken aback by his statement eyes met his golden, cat-like ones, tinted with the strange warm spark that she could feel she had yearn for a very long time. It lasted only a second though because soon her brows furrowed and her gaze dropped from those well-too-familiar (given the circumstances) eyes to her hands.

Two cats

Comment: Set in the sort of the au where they never died? On one winter day Kano takes stray cat to his house to take care of. It’s solely Kano fic btw.

Forgetting for a moment about his own advice (why he should had kept repeating it in his head) he looked over his shoulder to see if his stalker was still there and in that moment their gazes lock. “Crap.” He couldn’t help but think ‘curiosity killed the cat’ as a pair of similar eyes to his stared back at him.

Comment: Product of my procrastination. (As you may tell, I have a problem with it). One year I was slightly~ more productive and was kinda disappointed that I didn’t manage to write Christmas fic. So then I thought that I could save some time and write this fic where Kido has joint Birthday-NewYear party with Christmas decorations still lying around (including mistletoe *cough cough*) just in time for KidoKano Day killing not two, but even four birds with one stone. It’s sort of high school au btw.

“Hi.” The boy tried again. His face was embellished with wide grin and slightly flashed cheeks and in his hand she noticed a can of beer. Oh no.

“Hi, Kano.” She said with disinclination. It wasn’t like she didn’t like the guy. Even more, in the normal situation, like average day in the school, she would find a conversation with him a nice or refreshing thing. He was one of a few people that actually knew about her existence and despite her previous prejudice he turned out to be a pretty nice guy.

Christmas Event

Comment: I’m not sure what Christmas event that was for lol.

For Kano it was this time of a year when his Mother would stay home the whole day instead of going to work and she would be more kind to him. Though he wouldn’t call it exactly this way (it’s not like he felt she wasn’t kind to him normally after all), but she was definitely more forgiving.

Affectionate meme Requests

Comment: Requested for the writing meme in the year 2016. Keeps it as a reminder of how big loser I am (?) (just what this post manages to do so far lol) The prompt was “love bite” >.>

From her spot she couldn’t see him quite clear, due to the still turned off lights, so it was only up to her imagination to decide whether he recollected his mask or not. Maybe it was the second after all, because excluding two golden eyes that shone at her there were two bright spots that stood out in the dark, both marked on his skin.

Comment: It was supposed to be male!Kido x Kano fic and yeah... I’m emberassed about it tbh. Like, by the fact I wanted to write it itself. Idk now I find it rather weird to genderbend only one person from the pairing, especially in the fic and for that reason I won’t share fragment from it. Sadly it’s one of my better written pieces lol and going back to it I see I made male!Kido no differnt from the regular Kido... which makes it a good genderbend I guess, but also completely unnecessary.

Comment: I have no idea lol There’s almost nothing written there.

Even Greater Fear

Comment: Despite what title may suggest it’s more fluffy than angsty. KanoKido family fluff where Kano gets anxious about how happy he is now and that he might someday lose it too. Featuring my knkd fankids, Naoki and Reika.

“Mom, dad is sad!” announced Reika with reproach. This she wasn’t expecting.

“What?” Tsubomi asked out of surprise and was followed by a low groan coming from behind the couch that could belong only to her beloved husband.

“No, I’m not.” She watched how the expressions of her children slowly changed from the ones of concern to the ones of disappointment and disgust.

“And he’s denying it.”

Comment: Silly engagement scenario. If I ever finish that, it'll be my comedic genius’ peak I swear (?)

He was clearly getting more nervous, the longer the searching wasn’t bringing any results. He let go of Kido’s hand and got his another one to help him search for whatever was supposed to be in that pocket. However, after a while his movements completely stopped and with some kind of dread in the eyes he whispered under his breath, “It’s gone.”

Time

Comment: Angsty setomary fic I wanted to write for SetoMary Spring (anyone remember that?)

When she moved out to her new family the first thing she noticed was that time has significantly slowed down. Oddly, somehow it did accelerate at the same time. It was hard to explain and she herself couldn’t understand the feeling nor did she give it much consideration, but for the first period of living in that new world, new pace of that very activity- living- has struck her.

One in a million

Comment: An actual soulmates au (with the variation of the red thread concept). It’s way too ambitious for me lol (starting with the fact that it’s supposed to be multi-chapter story). I won’t share a fragment of it bc not much’s written and bc tbh there would be spoilers, in case I ever do post it. I could write about the concept in a seperate post though because I did a lot of world-building for it. (A lot for me, ok?)

Clear and present

Comment: Ghost AU. Baby Kano hides one time in the abandoned, partly burned mantion and that’s where he meets the ghost of (scary) green-haired teenage girl he befriends. Somehow got inspired by that anthology comic? Also I would listen to this song while attempting to write it lol. Not much was written though.

What I didn’t

Comment: This one’s rare. My only attempt at writing harutaka fanfic. (Funnily enough last safe was on kidokano day?... many years ago.) In the manga Takane was pretty excited to give Haruka a present for his birthday, but he had an attack and was hospitalized so she didn’t and it wasn’t said (?) if she ever gave it to him later. So my idea for this fic was that she didn’t and how she was now trying to give it to him after three years. Took huge inspiration from this song: {x}

She didn’t have to wait long until there were heard slow, but at the same time hurried footsteps behind the door and soon it was followed by the sound of doors being unlocked. The doors before her opened revealing the light-brown-haired boy wearing excited smile and slightly oversized green sweater with embroidered reindeer. And one of these was just the warmest thing in this cold winter world.

Sneeze like a kitten

Comment: Inspired by one line from Gravity Falls lol It was just another thing I wanted to add to list of similarities between Kano and cats and I’m sure it would bring Kido joy too ;3 But as much as I still find this idea cute it is so awkwardly written lol. I kinda appreciate that it’s from Rin’s POV and that I tried using kinda fancier English for that reason (as fancy as I knew back then lol), but I guess first person fics will always sound weird. It’s set in a different route I guess where they sort of met before the orphanage.

Soon I noticed all her glances seemed to be directed at small boy with blond hair sitting alone on the bench, a little away from the playground. At first I was fairly surprised, not understanding why this particular boy had become her spot of interest, but giving more attentive look at the boy made me instantly realize reasons of her intent glances.

Connection

Comment: I have almost nothing written there and I barely remember it, but from what I can see it must be my original idea for the “formal event” prompt from the very first kanokido week. I... think it was sort of an au where they never died and they met at some sort of fancy party held by Kido’s parents where Kano was a waiter.

Oof that’s all (I mean all from the folder on my pc, but I won’t be getting into that). For a fair portion of it, I gotta objectively say there’s absolutely zero chance of me ever finishing them, but then (aside from the freshest ones that I still have on my mind) revisiting all those WIPs made me really want to revive some of them owo (some I would have to completely re-write tho OTL)

((headcanons/facts abt Jevil’s parents (and more)!))

((dunno if they’d be considered headcanons or facts, considering that I made his parents as OCs for blog-related stuff but yeah. felt like typing up some random things abt em for absolutely no reason. well other than the fact that they’re assholes but they’re my assholes and they deserve to have more details on their personalities an stuff))

((yeah but first off here’s the link to their basic info in case anyone missed it, and here’s a link to that edgy backstory scene between Jevil and the two of em for those who missed that. probably gonna put the headcanons/facts/whatevers under a read more cause there might be a lot))

((both of his parents have scars as well, but nowhere near as many as Jevil himself. Jazmin has one on the right side of her face, which was the result of the demon jester lad scratching her as a kid--he didn’t mean to hurt her that bad, but oh well. it happened))

((as for X, his scars are a bit more serious. first of all, half of his right horn has broken off, which was due to the king breaking it as punishment for “not doing his job well enough”. he has a smaller scar over his left eye, making his vision in that eye weaker than his vision in his right eye. he’s not half-blind, though, and he refuses to get an eye patch. lastly, he has a big, curvy-shaped one across his stomach from when *spoilers* Jevil slashed him with his scythe at the end of the backstory thing I wrote. luckily, it’s stitched up--although it’s still not nice to have))

((his parents don’t actually want nothing to with him. he’s just convinced himself that they’re like that after the backstory incident. in reality, they’re more upset with themselves, wondering if they could’ve done anything to change the outcome of that situation. they’d like to settle their differences with him, they really would--they just have no idea how they’d be able to do that))

((oh and hey. remember how I’ve said that Jevil completely thought he would die upon gutting himself? that’s because his parents never explained how their species was immortal. they thought it would be too much information for him to bare at a young age, and that he wouldn’t even fully understand it. they would’ve eventually told him if he hadn’t spent a good part of his childhood out of the house, eventually moving out before they had the chance to mention the immortality thing.))

((Jevil, on the other hand, thinks they did it on purpose. he somehow managed to convince himself that they knew he’d snap eventually and try to do...harmful things to himself. he thinks that they just wanted him to learn the hard way--which isn’t true at all. he’s a messed up demon who draws conclusions too easily))

((also, this one’s random, but...Jevil’s nickname, Kyōjin, doesn’t actually come from his parents like you might’ve thought it did! surprisingly, it was actually Seam who came up with the nickname after Jevil had begun talking abt the crazy things he’d learned from the knight. how did the old cat come up with it, you ask? well...))

((he knew the kingdom would probably deem the demon lad insane at some point, due to the things he was saying not making much sense to, well...anyone. and, at the time, Seam was like “hey have you ever thought abt nicknames we could call each other because people do that” and he also knew a bit of Japanese so he came up with “Kyōjin” and of course Jevil thought it was beyond great))

((that’s why he likes his nickname so much--it’s got actual value and meaning to it, and he’ll usually introduce himself with both names in case people will eventually randomly show up like “hey Kyōjin what’s up”--if you do that he’ll be surprised you remembered his nickname but he’d also be happy abt it))

((well. I kinda got off track at the end there. sorry bout that,,,but I hope I gave you at least some cool info to have! feel free to ask demon lad abt any of these headcanons/facts, like his general opinion of some of em maybe idk I’m bored))

Another weird vivid dream with some sleep paralysis thrown in halfway through the dream. In the dream, it jumps to several different scenes which I find really weird because there’s only ever maybe one or two scene jump in any of my dreams.

Scene 1

Information: I’m in a haunted residence with my team of paranormal investigators - there’s four of us total: two guys, a girl, and me (I don’t know if I’m male or female). We’re all adults in our late twenties. The residence is three stories + basement and it’s a castle-like residence made of stone (it actually appears later on). There’s a green filter over my eyesight as though my eyes are like night-vision cameras.

We’re just doing our normal investigation thing when some weird shit starts happening - growling, voices, dark shadow, one guy gets scratched. We run down the three levels of stairs, this being spiral at the time, because the one dude is freaking out and telling us to run.

I enter the basement and the scene shifts suddenly.

Scene 2

Information: My eyesight has a kind of black and white grainy filter except some things are in color. I feel younger than before, like I’m a teenager. The basement is filled with a bunch of cages either stacked on top of each other in the center of the room or on tables lining the walls. Some cages have critters in them: one a raccoon, another a cat, a couple rabbits, and several birds that are crosses between cockatiels and parrots.

I walk through the room in a funk and for some reason my only thought is about where my laundry basket is because I need to wash my clothes. I see a man near the cages on the right side of the room that is supposed to be my uncle but he looks...off (I can’t say what about him looks weird, it was more his aura or something? idk, he’s just...off...somehow).

I ask him if he’s seen my laundry basket while staring at a raccoon in a cage nearby. He looks at me and starts speaking in tongues, then he opens a cage and takes out a dark calico-ish cat with glowing golden eyes (like in BBC’s Merlin) (the cat is in color instead of black and white).

Uncle: Watch over this beast.

Me: *unsure, taking the cat* oh...kay?

*the cat squirms a bit in my hands*

Uncle: It’s important. Watch over it. Treat it well. Promise me. *stares me down and his eyes are pitch black like demon’s eyes, this doesn’t seem to bother me*

Me: Okay, I’ll watch over it.

The cat settles in my arms and starts sucking my thumb when I tell my uncle that I’ll watch over it. I ask him again about my laundry while follow him to the left side of the room, this is where I see the bird cages.

I look into the four bird cages there while my uncle rambles in tongues in the background. There’s five smaller birds in one, three small/medium-sized birds in another, two medium/large-sized birds in a third, and another small/medium-sized birds in a fourth cage. The birds (cockatiel-parrot hybrids) are all in color instead of black and white.

My uncle enters my field of vision, he mentions rats and the scene shifts.

Scene 3

Information: The world around me is in normal colors. I am a younger teen, maybe 13-15, and I’m in a pet store with a man who’s supposed to be my father but he looks odd too (again, can’t say exactly how he looks odd, but he does; and again, I think it’s his aura or something)

I follow my father around while he talks about pets, he’s going to buy me any pet I want. I tell him that I want two rats and he says okay, but we look at some other animals first. In an open section of the store are two older teen girls wanting to get married (they look like the girls from Hayley Kiyoko’s “Girls Like Girls” music video). They’re talking about how the priest nor their guests would ever show because they’re two girls in love and everyone’s homophobic.

I talk to my father about the different kinds of rats and he nods along - he doesn’t really understand. We run into an employee - a young black woman in an orange-yellow uniform with red suspenders and khakis. I tell her what I want for my pet rats - I want something like a double rex rat, two of the same gender so they won’t breed.

She leads us right over to the rodent section - there’s three whole rows of ten tanks/cages with rats and mice, on the ends are bigger pens for a few giant guinea pigs (and by giant, I mean like the size of a Yorkshire terrier). She shows us the rats and I see two curly-haired ones that I like, both young. One is a toasted marshmallow color and the other is a silvery-grey color with a white belly.

I decide these are the two that I want, the lady says she nicknamed them [demonic scramble] and [demonic scramble] (the scramble means that whatever is said is in another language, the demonic part means that it sounds demonic).

She packages the rats up for me. My father pays for everything: rats, cage, food, bedding, and supplies. We start to leave and I can hear a commotion in the background that involves the two girls, the scene shifts as I’m looking back.

Scene 4

Information: I’m maybe 13-14 years old and I’m with my family: my father (looks a bit like Zak Baggins but with a mustache), my mother (who’s face is blurred out), and my older sister. There’s supposed to be one other, my eldest sister, but she’s missing. My middle sister is a popular YouTuber who goes by the name “Jim”.

We’re sitting in the stands of a ballpark, my father is angry and yelling about something (it may have to do with gay/lesbian relationships) while my mother tries to calm him down. He storms off.

My middle sister walks down the stairs (she had gone to the bathroom and missed dad’s outburst), people are screaming around her about “Jim!” because they recognize her from her YouTube channel. Her hair is short with a few long thin braids (I think she cut her hair while in the bathroom but it could have been before, idk) and she’s wearing a flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a dark brown-grey t-shirt, and cargo shorts.

She smiles at her fans as she passes then stops in front of me and mom.

Sibling: I’m sorry, Mama, but this is who I really am. My name is Jim and I’m your son. If you can’t accept that, well -

*Mom hugs him, cutting him off*

Mom: It’s okay, honey. I love you whether you’re a boy or girl. I’m just glad that’s you’re finally on the path to finding out who you truly are.

The scene shifts after our mother says this.

Scene 5

Information: I’m a child of 6-7 years old and I’m sitting in the backseat of a small car between my older sisters (this is before the middle one joins YouTube). Dad is driving and Mom is in the front passenger seat.

Mom and Dad are talking about having to leave because of some guy. I tune them out as I look back at our house - it’s a big three-story stone house. When I look at it, it looks abandoned and decrepit, there’s vines going up the sides, windows are boarded, and there’s a couple doors missing.

The house isn’t supposed to look like that yet (it’s the same house from the first scene that me and my team are investigating). I turn to my parents to tell them this and the scene changes.

Scene 6

Information: I’m an older kid of 11-12 years old. The family has stopped to stretch for a moment before we continue our journey to wherever we’re going - Mom and Dad are near the car, my eldest sister is missing, my middle sister is on the train station platform, and I’m standing near her on the ground. The area in front of me has an old train station platform and a small white stone building with a caving roof, one window hole on the side, and a doorway with no door.

Me and my middle sister are arguing but the words are scrambled to my ears. I do have the feeling that it’s about having to move again because she did something that she wasn’t supposed to do. (it feels like we move around a lot)

The scene quickly changes. (this is weird because it’s such a quick scene, like it was played in fast-forward)

Scene 7

(I wake up briefly here but immediately slip back into unconsciousness, this is also where I believe the sleep paralysis begins though I’m unsure of that)

Information: I’m 9-10 years old and I’m standing behind a white stone building. Up a small grassy hill is a store called femmel duol (it’s supposed to be all-lowercase. it’s sign is: a yellow and red half-flower on top of a shield). Outside femmel duol, in the parking lot, is a black guy in a sequined maroon suit (like Elvis’ white suit but maroon), he has a microphone and he’s singing about “Baby Sugar Ray”.

I’m scared of the guy singing so I run around the building behind me to get away. I quickly find myself in front of a mechanic shop called “Chuck’s Wood Stock Chop Shop” I’m all alone and I know that I’m not supposed to be here - I’m supposed to be with my friends, my paranormal investigation team, and I’m supposed to be an adult.

I’m starting to freak out because I’m a child in an unknown area. I find a cellphone, a flip phone that I was given in case of emergencies, and I call my dad on instinct.

Dad: Sweetie? Honey, where are you?

Me: I don’t know, Daddy, I don’t know where I’m at. Where’s Mom? I have to speak to Mom. Where is she?

Dad: It’s okay, Honey, Mama’s here. She’s a bit preoccupied, she went into one of her [scrambled words] and is speaking in tongues. Can you see a sign or any marker of where you are?

*I look around and see a homemade sign: there’s two guys on a motorcycle holding up something - the something is missing; there’s a name above them*

Me: W-Wood Stock, Chuck’s Wood, Stop Shop, Stock Wood *I’m struggling with the words and getting them turned around even though the words on the sign clearly say: Chuck’s Wood Stock Chop Shop*

Dad: Describe it. Does it have Chris Angel with Death on it? (idk why he says this but he does)

Me: It has two guys on a motorcycle.

Dad: Are they holding a scythe with Death’s Skull on it?

Me: I...I don’t know. Part of the sign is missing. Where’s mom?

Dad: Is it called “Chuck’s Wood Stock Chop Shop”?

Me: *I nod then remember we’re on the phone* uh-huh

Dad: We’re on our way. Just wait there, sweetie.

Me: Okay, Daddy

I hang up the phone and wait inside in a little hallway. In the next room are four biker guys (one may actually be a female but it’s hard to tell) and they’re arguing about thieves - someone stole part of their sign.

Suddenly my father is there and so is my eldest sister. The middle sister is still in the car with our mother (this is before my middle sister becomes famous on YouTube and before she realizes she’s trans). I tell my eldest sister that I need to speak to mom but she doesn’t listen.

Me: Where’s Mom? I need to talk to her.

Sister: She’s a little busy right now. She’s [scramble]. You can’t talk to her.

Me: It’s important.

Dad: [scrambled sister’s name] Go check on your Mother, see if she’s okay.

Sister: All right, Dad. *she leaves the small hallway and I follow her* Just stay back, okay? Stay out of my way. *the “stay out of my way” is said in a gentle tone, not menacing like one would normally say it*

Me: Okay

*We go out behind the building and find Mom standing there looking odd and staring at the sky. She’s speaking in tongues*

Sister: Just stay right here, I’m gonna talk to her.

Me: But I need to talk to Mom. It’s important.

Sister: *insistent* Stay right here. You can talk to her in a minute.

Me: *sighs* Fine

*Sister walks up to Mom*

End

The scene is abruptly cut off and I wake up because of my phone alarm. It takes me a minute to move because I’m still in that paralysis state. It’s a lot easier to get my body to move this time which is odd because it normally takes me awhile to get out of the state, but this time it only took a minute or so for me to be able to move.

I just found the dream really odd because of all the scene jumps. As I said above, there’s usually/maybe only one or two jumps in a dream, but this had seven scenes total which I don’t think has ever happened in my dreams before.

Buffy Thoughts - (S7 E20-E21)

AKA Touched and End of Days

I don’t know if I can put my thoughts for these episodes into coherent words. But IDK, I’ll try. They’re pretty much 90% shippy, 10% the rest of the actual episodes, but whatever. Also they’re both technically several months old because I’ve been procrastinating on watching the final episode out of fear. What else is new?

Episode 20 (Touched)

Oh my god. Oh my god. It is official Buffy/Spike is my favorite ship of all time.

OF ALL TIME.

Like my god, I think I’ve said it before that I’m glad I’m only seeing this series now because if I was younger and less fiction-ly jaded, I think it would’ve destroyed me, but seriously, WHY DID IT TAKE ME THIS LONG TO WATCH BUFFY? I don’t know where my heart is going to be when I finish, what I’ll watch next to fill the void, if there will BE anything to watch next (which is why I’ve been stretching out these final episodes for so, sooooo long) and yeah.

Spike’s speech. AKA quite possibly my favorite scene ever. I discussed this ep a bit over at EF with the Spuffy crew right after I’d watched it and there were some back and forths over opinions of this speech, namely that it sounds like something Riley would’ve said, not Spike, right down to the “you’re a hell of a woman” line from As You Were and I stand by what I said then:

The line is the same. The context is not.

Riley made his “you’re a hell of woman” line as he was leaving to return to his wife, right after he basically said “yeah, you have a shit job that makes you smell funny but you’re still a hottie and you’re better than this.” And I want to put those other two things aside and focus on the “you’re better than this” sentiment, because that’s something that’s been fucking with Buffy’s emotional health for a very long time. This idea that there’s a better Buffy out there somewhere that she’s not currently being and therefore needs to try harder to be that Buffy because if she’s not that Buffy then she’s doing something wrong.

Spike on the other hand. Best line hands down = “I love what you are, what you do, how you try.” He loves her for who she is in that moment, not some idealized version who she could be. Lets her know that trying and failing is fine, that if she fails she doesn’t lose any of her worth as a person (something that Buffy punishes herself frequently her).

And I also love how Spike’s speech begins and ends with humor. Not “you smell bad but you’re still hot” humor, but audience-directed humor in the vein of:

BUFFY: Fine. The stage is yours. Cheer me up.

SPIKE: You're insufferable.

BUFFY: Thank you. That really helped.

It’s like… blah, my brain is refusing to connect words right now, but basically a lot of people in Buffy give her complements when she’s feeling bad for the sake of giving complements vs seeing through the angst and getting frustrated at it. Not like “why are you trying harder” frustrated, but IDK, it’s the difference between letting someone mope because you don’t want to upset them more vs giving them what they need (AND THAT’S NOT RUNNING AWAY TO ENGLAND, GILES). IDK, the speech was a perfect blend of emotional lightness, followed by an emotionally raw sucker-punch, book-ended by yet more lightness.

So yeah.

And as much as my shipper self could’ve skipped out on the other “love” scenes of the episode, I think they really do work well as contrast, particularly the Faith/Robin sex scene. There’s practically no emotional connection there, just the need to physically connect to someone, anyone. And IMHO it represents a growth in the way BtVS handles relationships? Unlike the Faith/Xander scene from Season 3, it’s not played for laughs. There’s nothing “wrong” or “bad” about it.

But, at the same time, contrasted against the Spike/Buffy cuddling scene, it really highlights that sex doesn’t automatically make anything more “meaningful.” Which has been this huge hangup for Buffy (the “need sex to have a complete love” thing). First there was Buffy/Angel which basically culminated in a single night of sex, and then he ultimately broke up with her because he didn’t think they could ever give each other a wholesome relationship without sex. That translated into her jumping into sleeping with Parker, perhaps to get the post-sex skeletons out of the closet ASAP (which, admittedly, she did). And then Riley… well, Buffy/Riley had a fuckton of issues that broke them apart, but she definitely felt like she couldn’t trust him until they’d had sex, not in terms of the actual act but him not leaving before she woke up.

...and then Buffy leaves Spike before he wakes up and oh my heart. It will never be whole.

Anyways, yeah, Andrew/Spike friendship remains beautiful. Spike growling like a cat/dog is canon (has he growled before this episode and I just haven’t noticed?). I loved the camera direction in the chaotic Scooby Meeting sans Buffy. I really loved Faith period, even (especially) through all her leadership failures ; it’s ridiculous how much my opinion on her has done a 180 since season 3.

And then Buffy finds a red scythe which I know is important because it’s on all the comic covers, and Faith finds a ticking time bomb and I actually laughed because of the clichéness of it all.

Episode 21 (End of Days)

Ugh.

Ugggggh.

Ugggggggggggh.

So this review, despite being for End of Days, will have lots of spoilers for Chosen and AtS S5. Because lots of spoilers are a thing that happened to me over the course of watching this series.

If for whatever reason you’re reading this blind and not as a vicarious feelings recap, stop reading now.

Good?

Okay, good.

So, I know pretty much all the basics of what’s going to happen in the last episode: Willow does a spell that transfers the Slayer powers into all the potentials, Anya dies (gets hit by the equivalent of a Stormtrooper blast? you were a leaf on the wind, Anya. a leaf on the wind)...

...Angel gives Buffy an amulet that can close the hellmouth but Spike has to sacrifice himself in order to use it, Spike does so but not before Buffy confesses her love to him…

Which okay. Pretty much the only thing I’m NOT spoilered for is how that scene goes down. Like does Buffy tell him that she loves him before or after he makes the decision to sacrifice himself? Does he believe her? If it’s before, does he think she’s just saying it to convince him to sacrifice himself? If it’s after, does he think she’s just saying as a consolation prize?

And it’s like, I REALLY WANT HIM TO BELIEVE HER, BUT I AM FILLED WITH DOUBTS. Because I know what happens in AtS S5, and yes, SMG not wanting to do the show anymore is pretty much the reason why she doesn’t make any cameos, but in an in-universe context, the only reason Spike WOULDN’T hightail it across the world to wherever Buffy was upon re-achieving corporeal status is if he didn’t think her declaration of love was genuine.

And if that’s the case, I think Chosen is going to break me. Which is one of the reasons why it’s actually been about 2 months now since I watched End of Days and I still haven’t gotten the courage to watch Chosen. (That and I have a thing about watching final episodes of shows I love. There’s something about knowing there’s always just a little bit more content waiting for you. IDK, I’m weird.)

But yeah. So.

If Spike doesn’t believe Buffy’s declaration of love, then there’s only one reason why he wouldn’t.

And that’s fucking Angel.

I shipped Buffy/Angel during my initial watch of the earlier seasons. I really did. But now I just want to PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE. He swoops in all smirky and condescing and then just INSTANTLY starts making out with Buffy, going all forever love with her despite what should be his fucked up emotional state re: loving and losing Cordelia and also his son. And the fact that he instantly, INSTANTLY, goes for the make out session without clueing Buffy into any of this… it just feels really, really, REALLY scuzzy.

Like, it’d be feeling scuzzy even if I wasn’t a Spuffy shipper (which I am, disclaimer). That’s how scuzzy it is.

And really, there’s very little difference between Angel swinging into town and sweeping Buffy off her feet with no mention of his other recent relationship, and what Riley did in As You Were.

And I think everyone knows my opinions on As You Were.

So anyway, back on topic. What’s the point of shoving a sudden love triangle into the FINAL EPISODE of Buffy, especially when it’s going to (I think) end with Spike not believing that Buffy truly loves him. Like was it fan service for Bangel shippers? (I mean, it very well could’ve been, but their ship had sailed FOUR YEARS AGO.) Was it to introduce last minute drama between Buffy and Spike? (to which I said, they already had an Atlantic Ocean’s worth of drama between them, they didn’t need anymore). Is it to make Buffy realize by seeing her options face to face, that she prefers being with Spike? (this would be the option i’d be most okay with, but am majorly doubtful because of all the post-series lists of “Top 15 reasons Buffy should’ve chosen Spike”).

And it’s just like… why?

This is the final season. You guys KNOW it’s your final season. So why?

Buuuuut, this is all speculation on my part due to incomplete spoilers, so maybe my hunches are all wildly off base. I sure hope so.

Either way, it’s January 1st, 2018, and I’ve put off watching BtVS’s final episode long enough. This is the night it ends.

Or… you know, kind of ends for the readers who’ve been reading these. I’ll come back sometime later this week to put all of my Season 7 thoughts + BtVS series as a whole thoughts into some sort of written cohesion.

Oh, and then I have all of AtS S5 to watch, which FUCK YEAH, SPIKE INTERACTING WITH WESLEY AND LORNE AND GUNN AND FRED, I AM STOKED. (You guys have no idea how scared I was that one of them would’ve died before the end of Season 4 and they never would’ve been on screen together.)

Also, paddlin’ back in circles as a last minute thing:

WHY? WHY WOULD YOU BRING ANGEL BACK IN AFTER THIS? THIS WAS PERFECTION. THE DICTIONARY DEFINITION OF PERFECTION.

Do you have any pets? Tell me their names and describe them if you do.

Yep! 4 cats and 2 dogs. The cats are Willow (all black, old lady, squeaky purr, prefers humans to other cats), Shadow (grey and white tabby, giant ball of floof and sweetness, seriously he’s rlly big n heavy, like wearing clothes and being told he’s handsome, you can use him as a pillow and he’ll just purr), Vanilla Bean (mostly black with white socks and moustache, tiny but somehow takes up the most space, chirps?? like she has the cutest and weirdest “meow” I’ve ever heard, tiny and light yet somehow it hurts way more when she steps on you than with any of the other cats, we frequently describe her as having “more nicknames than size”), and Niffler (brown sort-of tabby [I think she’s egyptian or smth?], Attitude™, I’m her favourite, luxuriously soft but there’s a 90% chance she’ll attack you if you pet the wrong spot or if she just happens to feel like it, pretty much the boss even though she’s the youngest, glutton, used to play “fetch”, also kinda used to bark, now she does this loud yelling thing instead, thief, she’s terrible I love her so much). The dogs are River (border collie/lab mix, black n white with a curved tail?? the shape is almost like a scythe tbh, rescue dog, an old man who refuses to act old, rlly active, good at escapes (we used to call him Houdini Dog), loves my dad So Much, scared of beeps, separation anxiety, doesn’t howl but his normal bark is like a bark-howl thing) and Loch ([it’s Scottish for Lake], border collie/aussie mix, black n white n brown, basically a bear, complete goof, thinks with his stomach, likes shaking water on people after he gets wet to hear them squeal, will lick your face, will eat your trash, way bigger than he’s supposed to be tbh, doesn’t like moving, when we go to rivers he just sits in the water so that it just flows into his mouth, if you lie down next to him he’ll raise up a paw so that you can give him a hug).

I love them.

What was your favourite cartoon growing up?

Uh... man there were a lot at different points... let’s say Dragon Tales, I watched it when I was little and I loved it so much! And my mom got me a freaking Zak and Wheezie stuffie that talks from the second-hand shop, it’s hilarious and amazing.

What’s your favourite place?

I dunno. Forests are pretty? Though I’m also quite fond of just. Staying in my room. Or if non-physical places count, then definitely my imagination.

What’s your favourite pokemon?

Oh man... I love the Rowlet line, and Eevee is also great! And Dratini is adorable... Pokemon are good...

If you’d asked me this as a 3-year-old I might’ve said beekeeper which is hilarious because, A) that many bees in one place would honestly make me nervous even if they are cute, and B) I don’t even like honey.

Now though? Idk, author maybe? Or something to do with coding or robots?

Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?

I’ve never really done “resolutions”, but my family does this thing where... okay so you take a teabag and you empty it out, okay? And it makes a tube. You write bad things you want to let go/get rid of in the new year on one side (or on one tube if you have two), and good things you want to happen on the other. Then you stand them up so they’re on their end... and you set them on fire. But the cool thing is!! When you set them on fire they float up it’s really cool! Anyway yeah we do this and it’s like a sort of “message to the universe” sentimental kinda thing. I like it.

What’s your OTP?

I dunno, I mostly just ship things casually. Probably Wind Waker? Or Animal Crossing GCN. I never made it off of Outset Island in WW back then but I had a fun time goofing off and playing with the seagull gourds... anyway I was playing both of those when I was really little, like three or four maybe.

Some things including but not limited to: cat socks, a Guardian amiibo, the aforementioned Zak and Wheezie toy, the most terrifying plushie of Boots from Dora I have ever seen (it’s eyes are what make it terrifying) (I love it), ten (10) hairties, some paper “from” Niffler, some mechanical pencils (with extra erasers!!!), a really smooth and clear piece of quartz my mom found on the beach, some pistachio pudding mix (hell yeah!!), a board book about kangaroos with a lil kangaroo plushie bc my mom thought it would be funny for me to open and read it with my Australian friend (see person who tagged me), some buttons??? I don’t need any buttons?? I don’t know why they’re there??, my sister’s old iPod (which is a gen up from mine, has more storage, doesn’t have a cracked screen, and actually holds a charge for more than 2 seconds), and a Magic Tree House book (Dark Day in the Deep Sea with an accompanying octopus toy) because nostalgia. A lot of these things were probably like 50 cents from the second hand store.

Tell us about how you got into art.

WOW this got super long, I’m so sorry!

I was given a metric assload of coloring books, glitter crayons and stuff by my grandma when I was a kid. I don’t remember ever starting, it’s just always been like that. Also I really liked Pokemon, like REALLY liked it, like any other small child in the 90s. So I had some established characters to draw, like pikachu and eevee! Those were my fave to draw. Any I just never really stopped.

Luckily my elementary school still had an “art class” back then. For one whole year it had an actual room, but then it was just a little cart pushed around. Nothing really groundbreaking, but since it was fun and I liked it (and was proud of being “better” than everyone else there) it just kept going. it was really just a bunch of kids scribbling stuff with very little direction.

My art tteacher gave me a book about drawing things realistically. I really read that book and took it all to heart. Except for the grid thing, I thought the grid thing was stupid because all it let you do was COPY a photo, and I didn’t WANT to COPY! I wanted to make my OWN stuff!

I dont remember, but I think it was in first grade, maybe before that? Maybe after idk but it was really early on. I wrote stories about a wolf who’s name was Fear, and she was a pup when the forest she lived in burned down, and she got separated from her pack. So she ended up having to traverse the desert and run into other packs who wanted to use her in different ways (usually as a disposable labor or to watch the pack’s pups while their mothers went to have fun and stuff like that) and she would have to fight them to keep going. And so on. It was pretty in depth but I never actually got them on paper except for some shitty doodles.

Here’s a quick rendition of her from memory I made just now, using some free lineart. It’s probably missing some aspects of her design, but the main thing was that she is orange, had the dark stripe, and a white tail-tip. I know, looks like a fox. Of course my actually drawings of her were crude and done in crayon.

I really liked wolves. A Lot. So Much. I guess that’s probs why I’m a furry?

Similar to that time, like at the same time as Fear, I was makign my own TCG based on my own pet-sim website (heavily inspired by neopets and one gem-creature that i think was on a yugioh card). I made a “functioning” website in front page, it really just made me happy to click through on the previews and do pointless stuff that didn’t actually DO anything because it wasn’t a live website. But it was cool and fun. I made a lot of websites on front page lol. A LOT.

I made custom buttons and graphics in Paint and just came up with all this shit to “do” and ran with it. I also made some sites that were like, just really bad personal homepages. But I was also like somewhere between the ages of 7-11, I don’t remember what age specifically? BUT anyway frontpage is really fun to work with and I basically know all of my HTML and CSS from that and neopets.

What’s really funny is… I never had a home computer! I didn’t have computer until like 2009, and we still didn’t have internet at home until like 2013-ish. I might be off on those dates a bit but you can’t expect me to remember specifics when I struggle to remember things that happened yesterday lol.

Oh yeah I found Jay Naylor art and a comic called Good Cheese and accidentally got into furries bc of it, and yeah some of it was porn and my POOR LITTLE CHILD BRAIN COULDNT HANDLE bahahahahaa im fucking kidding, it WAS porn but it’s cool and I don’t think it really damaged me. I thought it was ~wrong~ but I still printed that shit out in black and white after school to take home with me oops.

Like RIGHT after that I got into Redwall and Serenity Rose. Redwall has this huge roleplay community online, it was really cool. i never had the guts to RP tho, so I just looked at pretty art and tried to emulate it. I made my own OCs and stuff. With Sera Rose I entered my first foray into online forums, the Bubblegum Noir. Where I posted doodles I did. I was also a really fucking obnoxious teenager lol. This was middle school bee tee dubbs.

Sometime in middle school I think my focus shifted a bit from my self-driven and pokemon fuel’d vigor for creating things. I certainly still drew fanart, I got really into anime (kinda, i read loveless and then was smitten by cat eared boys forever after that lol) and started drawing Neopets related stuff by then. (Yes I still plaid neopets in middle school, hush.) I think I scanned some art in to enter into the beauty contest.

Uhm in middle school I was introduced to all sorts of New Cool Tools like BRUSH PENS and stuff! WOAH! But yeah I actually tried to do shit for realsies. I did stain glass cutting and silk screen printing after school. Neato!

In middle school I also had a “running” comic I called My Life Unlimited, and it was like the bizzare megatokyo-esque thing where I drew me and my friends having everyday normal lives. Except my cat was Literally Satan. No I mean like actually, Satan was on vacation in the Real World disguised as a cat, but OFC I found him and was like oh no a poor lost kitty, let me put a collar on him and take him home n feed him. Which, as we all know collars = ownership and eating the food of the land etc etc. Which lead to me owning Satan, literally, who could shift inbetween cat form and human-ish-looking form. Also he couldn’t open the peanut butter once and it became a running joke.

There was this whole plot with angels and demons or whatever and the demons were the good guys and angels were generally manipulative assholes and uhhhh yeah. It was dorky but I liked it. Still kinda do. I dated a “fox demon” in the comic, he had a scythe, it was cool. B3

And uh, I just drew a lot of fanart, fancharacters. My own comic stuff.

And then I dropped all of it in high school, where I only drew furries and school assigned artwork. It was neato, the only thing I learned was about negitive space, lineart quality and VAGUELY hue and value (but not terribly in detail, and it was muddy and mucky). I made an FA account, found artists like CorrieZodori and ForcesWerwolf, and joined the Hungry Pokemon Forums (as a minor and completely ignoring ALL the rules about being 18 or over.) WHOOPS guess I was into vore. No wait, I joined HPF in… middle school I think? IDEK.

Anyway I started drawing MORE furries and more maws. And back then I was like “only oral vore, mawshots or pre-vore, no stomach internals and NO DIGESTION” but look at me now mom, if it aint Dying I ain’t Buying.

Lots of highschool is a blue of bad decisions and general fuckery. I had a cool AP art history class tho. I don’t remember jack fucking shit, sorry.

And uh… that’s where I am now???

Now I’m actually taking art seriously, and with internet access I can look for tutorials and references no problem. I’ve got a few good art books, but mainly I reccomend one by James Gurney called Light and Color for the Realist Painter. Or whatever, I cannot be assed to google it rn I’ve been typing for like an hour. Maybe two… idek. Also some good youtube chanels, sinix design, sycra, istabrak, bobby chiu and ahmed aldoori, really recommend those for learning!

Anyway I’m more aware of my shortcomings, and working hard to fix them, all while still ejoying doing what I do. Although lately I feel like I’ve gone backwards in quality and launched myself into more stress and difficulty. And I certainly do much less, and finish things less also. I wonder why… :T

UHM I’m not even sure if I answered your question i just kinda went on a tangent oops. Hopefully this is an entertaining read if nothing else?
