Watching you
Hwang In-ho x female!reader.

It was strange that he kept his eyes on you more than anyone in the games. The moment he saw your shaking figure among the crowd of people in the green suits, he felt his breath get stuck in his throat. You were looking around with eyes that were full of fear, hands wrapped around yourself and holding back tears as others started an argument in the middle. You listened as someone complained about his shoes being so expensive, and someone asking for his phone, an old lady argue with her son and guards answering the players’s questions with patience.
He kept his eyes on you as the first game started. He saw your eyes widen when someone was shot right in front of you, and he watched you as you realise the seriousness of the game you accepted to take part in. Gi-hun was interesting to him, yes. He was searching for them, for him have been for years now. And he was brave enough to come back to the games just to find who was behind them. He respected his determination. Yet there was something about you that he could not name. Something captivating. Something that shifted things in him, made his skin sting in ecstasy as you nearly moved when the doll turned around. You looked around with those innocent eyes and blood of someone flowing down your cheek, he felt his trouser tighten. A small, tingly sensation took over his loins and made him frown in confusion. He had never taken a liking to a someone, let alone a little, fragile thing like you.
When he found the video of you playing ddajki with the recruiter, he felt himself get harder and harder as he watched you spill tears in pain every single time you received a hard slap on your cheek. The camera captured the noises you made as your body was falling backwards with every single slap. The recruiter hit you hard and In-ho wandered if you would sound the same when he pounded you hard on his bed. He took his mask off and palmed himself trough his trouser as he kept replaying the video over and over again. When he was finished spilling his seed into his palm, he wished that was your mouth wrapped around his tip instead.
When the first game finished and your number and picture still shone bright on the floor, you voted for ‘X’ and expected everyone to vote same as you. Yet you were so wrong when the last player 001 and all others voted ‘O’, causing all of you to stay in this hellhole. You felt tears fill your eyes as some people were cheering with victory in front of you. You sat down on one of the beds at the front and hugged your legs with disappointment. As you were thinking what was going to happen next, you felt someone sit next to you.
“I’m sorry, I thought staying was the best option.” Said the man who was looking at you, watching your tears flow down your flushed cheeks. You looked at his number and saw 001 in bright white font. He was the person who voted last and made the decision. You sighed and shook your head.
“It is not only you, sir. Half of us wanted to stay.” You said as you pointed at the people who had the ‘O’ banners on their right side. He did not look at the direction you were pointing at, he kept his eyes on. You were so pretty when you cried. He wandered how beautiful you would look when you were overstimulated with his fingers in you. He felt his cock twicth when you looked at him again. Your lips were plump, and the tip of your nose was red. He wandered how your tears would taste like.
“We have a winner here. I thought we could use this for our advantage.” He explained as he pointed at Gi-hun who looked very troubled not so far away from you. Your eyes were on the last winner when you felt the man beside you stand up and take few steps towards the player 456. Yet he stopped mid way and looked back at you, as if he was waiting for you to follow him. And for some reason you wiped your tears away and followed him like a lost puppy as he walked towards the previous winner of the games who was already accompanied by few guys who kept asking him questions.
And the small group was formed with two of you joining them. You did not know much about others, did not trust them meanwhile player 001 was confident and comfortable talking to them. When he sat down next to Gi-hun, his eyes pointed at the small space next to his feet, so you sat down there. Being close to him brought you a sense of safety. He was the first person who approached you in this mess of a place with kindness. You did not know him, didn’t know his name or why he was here. Yet there was a look in his eyes that made you want to stick beside him.
When everyone went to sleep, In-ho looked at your resting form. You were wrapped in the thin blanket and was curled up into a ball. He looked at your curves that were visible from the tracksuit, his mouth watered. You were so frightened and powerless. You needed someone to protect you in the games. Someone who would look after you, make sure you make it alive. He knew what humans were capable of doing in a place like this. People were going to go mad and hurt one another viciously. Would he be able to just stand and watch if you got hurt?
Your soft whimpers and cries brought him back to reality. When you woke up from your few hours of sleep drenched in sweat and tears flowing down your cheeks, he crawled to you, in the darkness of the hall. He reached out to you, from the metal bars of the beds, and held your shoulder. You squirmed in fear and was about to scream until a large hand covered your mouth.
“It’s me.” He whispered to your ear as his whole body was pressed against your back, other arm wrapped around your shoulders. He was towering over you, as you felt sweat drops make their way to your neck from your temple.
He let go of your mouth, but his touch did not leave your body when he moved to sit next to you. He was close, his breath hitting your face and neck when he looked at you with observing eyes that did not give any feelings away. His touch made your heart beat fast and quicken your breaths, yet you did not want him to stop holding you.
“Bad dream?” He whispered, his voice is low yet deep enough to make your insides shake. You nodded when tears filled your eyes again. The images of dead bodies all over the playground haunted you since the moment you came back from the game as winners. You didn’t want to cry in front of anyone, but you felt like he would not mind seeing you cry.
He nodded along with you, almost like a grown up talking to a little kid and mirror her moves to befriend her. When he saw your bottom lip tremble and eyes full of fear scan the hall of people sleeping, he felt his loins burn in need. The face you made when you were scared and felt alone was enough to make him cum in his underwear without any touch.
Without hesitation he brought your body closer to his own and his arms embraced your shaking form with mercy. You buried your face into the crook of his neck and wrapped your smaller arms around his waist. He was warm. Very warm that you felt your fingertips burn over his body. When you breathed in and out in the crook of his neck, all In-ho wanted to do was throw your body back into the bed, rip those clothes off of you and ravage you in front of dozens of people without any care. The though of fucking you, turning you into mass in front of them, giving them a show as he claimed you, sent shivers down his spine.
“I’m so scared,” you whispered, your crying voice reaching his ear as he tried to hold back a smile at your situation. You were so helpless that you were crying in the arms of the man who was the reason why you were still here. He was a stranger, who had the potential to do anything. Yet here you were, quivering against his chest and making his member throb in need.
“I’m here.” He said. And you had no chance but trusting him.
———————
The next game you were automatically given the Gong-gi game as the only female in the group. Yet your hands were shaking when it was your turns to play after player 390 completed his part successfully. When you missed two times, you were so sure you were going to die and worse, be the reason for everyone’s death in your group.
He watched you panick, drop the pebbles and fail to catch them midair. Everyone around you was getting inpatient and scared naturally. Even tho he loved the way you were struggling and feeding into his twisted desire, he could not let you die. He held your waist and stopped the trembling of your body. You looked at him under your lashes that were wet with your tears and went back to work once he gave you a reassuring smile. With that you managed to catch all the pebbles in your palm and passed the round.
It was then, you felt something was off, when it was his turn to play his own game. The top kept slipping from his hands or landed wrong on the floor that was covered in the blood of eliminated players. You wanted to step back yet could not because of the ties when he started to scream in anger and slap himself. There was a crazy, off-putting look in his eyes. It was less uncomfortable when he was looking at you, yet it was still there. His eyes made your skin crawl and stomach twist in sickness. You did feel safe around him. But not like you would feel safe with a family member, a friend, or a lover. It felt like he was a wolf who claimed a lamb, kept her on his chest and waited for right moment to eat her.
When your group managed to survive and go back to the hall, he kept to you close. His hand was on your back, leading you to your bed. When it was mealtime, he gave half of his food to you, telling you to not to worry about him when you tried to reject him. He watched you until you finished all your food. After all of you exchanged names, he watched you talk to player 388 about his time in marine and watch you laugh when he was talking excitedly, telling everyone how prideful he was about his military service. He watched your tears dry up as you listened to the conversation that was flowing in the group. Your smile made his stomach twist and his jaw clench.
Your hopes once again were shattered when people voted for “O” more than “X” and decided to continue playing the games. Young-il wiped your tears away and convinced you to get some sleep for the night. You could only relax and fall asleep when he sat next to you on your bed and caressed your head as he decided to stay awake. He looked extraordinarily strong to you. He did not need to sleep, gave his food to others, calm people down when everyone was scared, raged and pass the games like it was nothing. Most importantly, he held you close no matter what. Did not mind you cry and fail and fall. Maybe it was a sense of guilt he felt, for making you stay in the first round of voting, you thought.
——————
Next morning he held your hand when everyone was taken to the new game. It was mingle. Your group had decided to stay together. You were grateful that they had take you in and did not leave you alone. You all took your place on the platform and started to spin as the song was playing. You felt his hand get tighter around yours, reminding you that he was here with you.
10
You ran as fast as you can and took deep breaths when all 10 of you finally managed to get into a room. The sound of lock made you jump slightly. You saw Young il’s eyes on Gi-hun as he pulled you under his arm. The images of him looking at Gi-hun since the moment you met him lingered on your mind until the woman who claimed to be a shaman started to speak loudly in the middle of the room. As you waited for gunshots to stop and doors to open, you could not help but wonder the reason behind Young il’s weird behaviour about Gi-hun. He seemed to get along with him. Seemed to respect his ideas and experiences about this place. They seemed to understand one another, somehow. Yet that unexplainable look in 001 eyes was making you shift uncomfortably in your place.
Until last round, you had no chance but sticking beside Young il. As you entered rooms and people kept dying outside, you became more paranoid. And when it came to the last round, Jeong-bae asked how many people it was going to be this time. Without hesitation Young-il answered.
“2.” And it was it. When the song stopped and the platform stopped spinning, Young il held your hand tighter than before, and started to run to closest room. As you were trying to catch up with his pace, someone bumped into you, causing you to lose your balance and stumble midway. Young il turned around immediately and wrapped his arms around your waist. He lifted you like a piece of feather and made his way to the yellow door that was already opened by a guy. Young il pushed you into the room and threw the other guy away from the door. When you scanned the room, your eyes were met with pair of foreign eyes.
“Out.” Young il said sharply to the other man in the room.
“We were here first.” The man said, his voice cracking as he was shaking in fear. Person behind the door tried to open it. You pushed your back against the door and held it with all of your strength. There was not much time left, and you were afraid that all of you were going die in this room.
Young il grabbed the man and locked his arms around his head. As they scooped to the floor, his arms got tighter around the player 343’s neck. You were still holding the door and preventing the other player to get in. For a second Young il’s intense gaze met with yours and you couldn’t look away.
He looked into your eyes, showing no emotion or weakness as the man he was choking started to turn purple. Your breath got stuck in your throat, your knees were shaking, and your palms were getting sweaty with the scene taking place in front of you. As there were few seconds left for the countdown, Young il twisted the man’s neck. The sound of bone cracking filled the room along with the sound of door locking behind you. He kept his eyes on you, as he tossed the dead body of the side.
The lifeless body of player 343 laid on the ground and the gunshots filled your ear. The screams of people scratched your brain, and you finally managed to close your eyes. He had killed someone in front of you, broke his neck with one swift motion and he had no emotion on his face as he did it. Your heart was beating so fast that you thought it was going to fail at some point. Then the images of him came to your mind. When he knocked down player 124 and 230 as he looked down at them with those emotionless eyes, when he carelessly slapped himself in the second game, when he looked at Gi-hun as if he wanted to strangle him when he thought no one was looking, when he pushed everyone out of his way to get both of you to safety during the mingle game and now when he killed someone.
“Open your eyes.” He breathed out, his breath hitting your face. Suddenly you felt his warmth surrounding you and him towering over your head. You slowly opened your eyes and there he was. Looking down at you, his eyebrows lifted up and with a mocking look in his eyes. His face was close to yours. Yet it did not feel comforting and safe like it did a night ago, when he was comforting you after a nightmare.
“What did you do?” Your voice was shaky and sounded terrified as you tried to look at the dead body that was in the corner of the room. He did not let you look away with his fingers finding your chin and holding it tight. He held you with those hands that just took the life of someone. You felt chills going down your spine.
“I made sure that we survived.” He whispered without breaking eye contact with you. You could hear soldiers cleaning up the mess outside of the rooms.
“You killed him.” You tried to shake his touch away, yet he didn’t let you. Instead, he got closer, until you were trapped between him and the door. His hot breath made your skin tingle, and his touch made you wanna cry.
“Yes.” He said, and his lips touched your cheek that was wetted by your tears. His lips planted a soft kiss onto your skin. The kiss made you feel dizzy and your knees weak.
“For you.” He continued. His words made you freeze in your spot. His lips traced over your skin like a ghost and reached the corner of your lips. “Only for you” He kissed the side of your mouth, softly, gently, with mercy. You wanted to rip his hands off of you, and run away. The floor beneath your feet was slippery with the blood of eliminated players. If you slipped and fell, would he let you go?
“All for you.” His lips found your chin, then your nose, then your other cheek. He did not rush or hold you harsh enough to hurt. Yet knowing that he had just killed someone with those hands made you wanna throw up.
Your tears dropped to his lips, and he licked his lips as if he was dying over thirst. And when he made eye contact with you again, it was the first time you saw a clear human emotion in his eyes. An emotion he did not try to hide or was afraid to show; yearning. You did not know if it was for you or winning. In both cases, it terrified you to your very being.
“Stop!” You said as sobs filled your mouth and he pressed his forehead against yours hard. You felt him shake his head, his arms wrapping around your fragile, little body compared to his strong form.
“I will give you everything you want, you need.” He said and pressed his lips against yours. Without waiting, his tongue made his way into your mouth, forcing your lips to open up for him. You felt the dizzy feeling take over your head. Your ears were ringing, your mind was foggy as he kissed you harsh, deep. There was no power left in your body, so you just let yourself to his arms.
His teeth crushed against yours and he was biting every corner of your lips until he drew blood. The irony taste filled your senses, made you jump. You did not know if it was you bleeding or him. But there was blood everywhere. Covering your tongue, your lips and staining your chin as your shared spit escaped from the corner of your lips. You felt your body burn all over. Your back was arching like a cat to get any closer to him, and there was a soreness between your legs that made your clit throb. You felt shame fill you and guilt making you wanna cry out. Instead, you kept kissing him, devouring him, eating him as much as you could.
You whined and pushed your head towards him when he parted your kiss with the sound of lock. The door was opened. The third game was finished. There was still a dead man in the room. Your mouth was covered in blood, making you look like you just feasted on someone. And his eyes were on you, watching you.

DICK GRAYSON ── .✦
Your biggest fan, no contest. He has a folder on his phone labeled “My Gorgeous Girl” filled with all your magazine covers, runway shots, and candid photos he’s sneakily taken of you (even the ones where you’re eating pizza in sweats).
Loves to drop the fact that you’re a model into conversations. Someone says something even remotely related, and Dick is like, “Oh, that reminds me of the time yn walked for Valentino. She looked stunning. Anyway, how’s your dog?”
Flirty but lowkey jealous. He’s all smiles at your shoots, but if a photographer or fellow model gets a little too friendly, he’ll sidle up behind you, wrap an arm around your waist, and casually go, “Hey, babe, everything good here?”
Runs your fan page in secret. He denies it every time, but you know it’s him posting like archive photos of you? with captions like, “Truly the most breathtaking woman alive.”
Always hypes you up. You’re stressing before a runway show? He’s holding your hands, looking you dead in the eyes, and saying, “You’re going to kill it, just like always. They’re not ready for you.”
JASON TODD ── .✦
Pretends not to care, but he’s secretly obsessed. You’ll catch him flipping through your magazines with a bored expression, but the dog-eared pages of all your spreads say otherwise.
Gets grumpy when he has to share you with the world. “Do you really have to fly to Milan again? Can’t they get someone else to wear the fancy coat?” But he’s the first one to text you after your show with a “You looked amazing. Miss you, though.”
Always lurking at your events. He doesn’t do red carpets, but you’ll spot him in the back of the after-party, leaning against a wall with a drink in hand, watching you like you’re the only person in the room.
Jealous but funny about it. If a male model gets paired with you for a shoot, Jason will grumble, “You know I could wear that suit better, right?”
Says he doesn’t care about fashion but definitely critiques it. “They put you in that? Really? That’s what they think is high fashion?” (Meanwhile, he still owns a leather jacket he’s had since he was 17.)
TIM DRAKE ── .✦
The low-key proud boyfriend. Tim doesn’t brag about you… unless someone else brings it up. Then it’s a full PowerPoint presentation: “Oh, you didn’t know she walked the Paris Fashion Week finale? Let me show you.”, “it’s not that serious Tim.”
Forgets how famous you are sometimes. He’s so focused on his work that when he accompanies you to an event, he’s always surprised when people scream your name. “Wow, they’re… really excited to see you, huh?”
Pretends to be chill but panics at your shoots. If you’re wearing something too revealing, Tim’s sitting in the corner like, “Does she really need to wear that? I mean, it’s fashion, I guess, but still…”
Shows up to all your shows with coffee. He knows your schedule can be brutal, so he always has your favorite drink ready and a warm smile. “Long day, huh? Here, you’ve earned this.”
Accidentally goes viral as your boyfriend. Someone snaps a picture of him holding your bag while you’re doing a fitting, and now he’s trending as “hot model’s mystery man.” Or “Drake Spotted With L/N?”
DAMIAN WAYNE ── .✦
Thinks modeling is beneath you. Not because he doesn’t support you, but because he genuinely thinks you’re too good for it. “Tt. Why waste your time parading around in someone else’s designs when you could rule the world instead?”
Still shows up to your shows like a proud dad. He won’t admit it, but he’s ridiculously proud of you. He’ll sit front row, arms crossed, looking annoyed until you walk out. Then his face softens, and he claps (but only once).
Hates everyone in the industry. Photographers, stylists, agents—he side-eyes them all. “Do they have to touch you so much?”
Quietly supportive in his own way. You come home exhausted, and he’s already brewed your favorite tea and laid out your comfiest pajamas. “You should rest. You’ve worked hard enough today.”
Keeps all your clippings. You find a scrapbook in his study filled with your covers, tear sheets, and event photos. When you ask him about it, he just mutters, “I didn’t want them getting lost.” And even keeps some fan letters that you keep or lost along the way.
BRUCE WAYNE ── .✦
Thinks it’s “adorable.” Bruce can’t help but chuckle whenever you mention your modeling career. “You really enjoy this, don’t you?” But he’s not teasing he genuinely admires how passionate you are.
Surprisingly knowledgeable about fashion. He knows every major designer, can spot couture from a mile away, and will occasionally surprise you by saying things like, “That’s Galliano, isn’t it? From the ‘06 collection?”
Makes every event feel like a power couple moment. When you walk a red carpet together, it’s like the world collectively gasps. He keeps his hand on your back, whispers sweet nothings, and makes sure you’re the center of attention.
Defends your career to anyone who dares question it. Someone makes a snide remark about modeling being “shallow,” and Bruce immediately shuts them down with, “Actually, it’s an incredibly demanding profession that requires both discipline and skill. You should try it sometime.”
Buys your agency. You’re stressed about a bad contract or a difficult agent? Suddenly, Wayne Enterprises owns the company, and Bruce is like, “Problem solved. You can thank me later.”

something like love
part - 8
pairing - paige bueckers x azzi fudd
word count - 7.0k
c/w - angst, language
a/n - i am so sorry for the wait you guys, but i’m so happy to finally be putting this chap out!! i hope yall enjoy 😈
When Paige wakes up before the sun rises, she knows something is wrong.
Ever since she was a little girl, Paige has been a sleeper. While the other kids were fighting off naps, she was begging for them. While the other kids began bothering their parents during the early hours of the morning, she would be konked out until noon if her dad let her.
And then she met Azzi. Became her friend. Had their first sleepover.
And ever since that morning so long ago, when Azzi had shyly jostled her awake so they could get breakfast, Paige will not wake up early unless it’s Azzi doing the waking.
But this morning, it’s silent—eerily so. The AC is humming and there’s traffic noises from outside, but something’s missing. In Paige’s half-sleep state, it takes her a moment to realize what exactly it is: the absence of Azzi bustling around, getting ready for the day, calling room service to ask about breakfast options.
Paige cracks her eyes open, to find they feel dry. Shit, did she sleep with her contacts in?
No—she didn’t. She took them out as soon as they got back last night.
As soon as they got back. Tipsy and flirty. Paige, still too aware of the feelings brewing uncomfortably in her belly, asking if they should drink some more, just the two of them. Azzi, reaching into her pocket with a sly smile and pulling out a joint. Paige, thinking she looked so fucking beautiful, moonlit and blowing out smoke from between her lips. Azzi, confessing things, Paige, asking for more. Azzi, shy and giggly—
Paige, giving in to her urges. Letting the marijuana in her system cloud any rational thought she could have. Pressing their lips together and going lower, lower, down between Azzi’s thighs, watching in awe or wonder or reverence as she bared herself completely. Like she trusted Paige. Like Paige deserved it.
Carefully, almost as if afraid, Paige glances around the dark room. She’s on the edge of the bed, facing the window. Senses suddenly overflowing with something acutely familiar, Paige can picture the girl on the bed next to her, almost knows exactly how she’s laying without even seeing her yet.
Deep breath. Don’t get sick, Paige. Be normal.
Roll over. Onto her back, at first, to stare at the ceiling, and then, finally, onto her side.
And there she is. Lying on her back, the sheets bundled around her waist, one arm over her face while the other spreads out to Paige’s side of the bed—Azzi is breathtaking like this.
Breathtaking, and beautiful, and vulnerable. Oh-so vulnerable, while Paige lays beside her, fully clothed. No part of her bare, because she was unwilling to show herself to Azzi last night. She wonders why, now. She doesn’t really have to.
Cautiously, Paige reaches a hand out, brushing a strand of hair from Azzi’s face almost instinctively. Azzi doesn’t stir, and it emboldens her to move her hand lower, fingers tracing delicately over her jawline, down the line of her neck, to her collarbones. It’s only when Azzi does stir that Paige pulls away, reluctantly, because she’s not sure if she’ll get to see Azzi again like this.
And it’s that thought—the thought of Azzi waking up, naked beside a clothed Paige, angry and hurt—that scares her out of bed, ambling quietly over to her suitcase and throwing on a pair of running clothes. She glances furtively at Azzi while she gets dressed, but not once does she wake up, and Paige doesn’t know whether it’s relief or bitter disappointment she feels when she leaves the room without having words with the younger girl.
Paige comes to a stop outside the hotel, Google mapping a running route, and while she’s at it her fingers move of their own accord, navigating to her messages and then to Azzi’s contact. But as she stares at the screen, she can’t find anything to say. Seeing that their last text thread was from last night, she scrolls up to read it:
azziiii where’d u go
u been in the bathroom too long
shoulda let me come w you
for real we’re abt to play a drinking game come back
i’ve been gone for like five minutes paige
the line to the bathroom was long
u guys in the living room??
yeah
bro it was definitely longer than 5 mins
not letting u out of my sight again fr 🙄
ok drama queen
just missed me that much huh?
yeah and what
missed my girl
ok p chill
i’m omw
hell yeah we’re up
The conversation ends there, and Paige distinctly remembers it, how Azzi had left to use the restroom and Paige had sat there, talking to old friends and boring strangers, not even pretending to laugh at their jokes while she waited anxiously for Azzi to come back. And how when she did, she took a mental snapshot of Azzi’s smile when they saw each other, her dimples lighting up the entire room.
The memory, unlike all the alcohol-hazy ones from last night, is vivid. Too much so. Paige shakes out her limbs, stuffs her airpods in her ears and her phone in her pocket, and runs.
She hates running. With her heart and soul, she hates it. If ever she needs to take her mind off of bad things, she goes for a run, because almost nothing could be worse than the feeling of her feet hitting pavement, her chest hurting, her side seizing.
Today, it doesn’t work. Even with music pounding through her earbuds, memories come back to her in crushing tidal waves: Azzi sat on her lap on the couch, Paige’s hands on her ass, Azzi’s lips on her neck. The two of them pressed close together when they migrated to the kitchen, Paige wrapped around her from behind, listening to Azzi talk to a few other students. She remembers how at one point some guy had approached them while they were snuggled up on the couch and asked Azzi for her snap; remembers how she’d practically snarled at the guy telling him to go the fuck away, Azzi teasing her about it afterwards and asking, What if I had been interested? but there was a satisfied smile on her face when Paige only pulled her in closer, as if she’d known exactly the reaction she’d elicit.
She remembers the way they’d held hands in the Uber, and all the way up to their hotel room.
And maybe it was inevitable, their only option, really, to end up the way they did—Azzi spread out naked on a hotel bed and Paige situated between her legs, licking her clean after she came.
Paige doesn’t know why she asked for a second time. Even in her slightly cross-faded, pussy drunk haze, Paige recognized that it might be because this is the only chance she’d get. Because fucking your best friend once is a simple mistake, something the two of them can laugh about later, even. Fucking your best friend twice is a slippery slope.
Azzi had given her another one, even though she was surely overstimulated and tired. Paige never wanted to stop tasting her, but once they were done, Azzi whimpering above her, she got this strange feeling—a need for affection, maybe even comfort? Like she not only wanted sex and fun but also some emotions attached to it, too.
Paige shakes her head, tries to survey her surroundings, tries to enjoy the view of mothers walking their babies, friends going to early trips at the mall, people commuting to work. But with each pound of her feet, something new hits her and it feels like getting smacked in the face.
As Paige crawled back up to Azzi, as they whispered sleepily to each other, Paige didn’t acknowledge the heat between her own legs, didn’t think about how the fact that she wanted affection from a hookup is somehow a larger revelation to her than the fact that she and Azzi just fucked, and she of course didn’t allow it when Azzi offered to return the favor.
She could never ask that of her. So she lulled her asleep instead, holding onto her like she’s afraid she’d disappear—and maybe she was. She wouldn’t have blamed her.
The truth is, Paige thinks that this was a long time coming. Maybe she knew it when they were fourteen and fifteen and slept on each other on the flight home from USA basketball, after a few weeks of knowing each other. Maybe she knew when Azzi’s family invited her to the state fair for the first time and Paige won Azzi a prize before they held hands on the Ferris Wheel. Maybe she knew when she spent the entire summer at Azzi’s house, and they spent nights tracing shapes and hidden letters into each other’s skin, trying and failing to guess what the other was saying. Once, Azzi had written something longer than usual, and when Paige had been unable to guess, she’d begged for Azzi to tell her what she’d said. But Azzi had stubbornly shook her head, told her that was against the rules.
When it came Paige’s turn, she lifted Azzi’s shirt and traced three words into the skin of Azzi’s back. Azzi had always been good at this game, and so there was a long pause afterward, and Paige thought maybe something real was about to happen, but then Azzi had simply rolled over and said, “No idea.”
Paige didn’t believe her then. Doesn’t believe it even now.
If she’s being honest with herself (and she’s never been very good at that) things between them have always been electric, charged by small moments between them, things that always went unacknowledged because both of them were too scared to bring this sacred little thing they had out into the open.
Paige stops to catch her breath, a little lightheaded, clutching her sides in pain. Running has nothing to do with the ache that’s overtaken her or the way she’s finding it hard to breathe.
The sun is up now, and she walks off the sidewalk into the little park she’s stopped at, heading over to a large oak tree in the middle which will hopefully provide some solace from the morning heat. She wipes at her brow, and the shade helps, but her palms are sweaty, back of her neck still hot, and it might be from the memories of last night, the taste she swears is still lingering on her tongue.
It’s not long before her phone buzzes and she knows it’s Azzi before she even checks. She’s always been good at that—sensing when it’s her best friend on the other end of the line. It’s a blessing and today it’s a curse, because she’s nowhere near ready to face the hurricane of emotions wreaking havoc on her mind. She takes a few deep breaths after the phone buzzes, putting it off, afraid of what she will find: an angry message, how dare you; a heartbroken one, why’d you do this to me; the truth, you’re a bad friend, maybe even a bad person.
With one last steadying breath and trembling fingers, she pulls up the message, only to find four words, so non-threatening they’re almost vulnerable: Hey, where’d you go?
She should be relieved, but her heart sort of sinks a little more at that. She deserves the anger, doesn’t she? The heartbreak, the truth?
Leaning against the tree, letting the rough bark bite into her skin, Paige checks the time and types out a reply. Went for a run, I’ll head back now
But she won’t head back now. She needs some more time. So, she deletes the message and tries again. Just went out, want me to grab u some breakfast??
The answer will be no; Azzi is picky about her breakfast, will only eat a certain few foods and never store bought.
So, sighing, Paige sends a simple: Went for a run. Be back by eleven. And before Azzi can reply, she turns her phone on silent, shoves it into her pocket.
She wonders what Azzi is feeling now. If its anything similar to Paige’s train of thought, or more likely, worse: that maybe this was all a mistake, that they can’t continue to be friends like this, that last night was real and that’s really fucking scary.
If Azzi just woke, she’ll be needing more time to think things over. So, jogging back over to the sidewalk, Paige starts running again, further away from the hotel. Further away from Azzi.
—————————————
When Paige steps into their hotel room, her shoulders are tensed, breath held as she waits for confrontation. But with a quick glance around the room, she realizes she can put this off a little longer—the bathroom door is closed, running water coming from inside. She sighs, shoulders relaxing, and closes the door as quietly as she can.
But it must not be quiet enough. Because a moment later, the faucet turns off, and then there’s a set of slow footsteps approaching the door. Paige tenses all over again, watching in what probably looks like terror when the bathroom door opens and there’s Azzi, in a hoodie and sweatpants, braids tied back, eyes and nose a devastating shade of red.
“Hey,” Paige starts, a softly as her strained voice will allow, but to her surprise, Azzi gives a firm shake of her head.
“No,” she says simply, sniffling, looking Paige up and down. “Get in the shower. We check out soon.”
“I…I know,” Paige stammers, caught off guard by the way Azzi looks both heartbroken and angry. But, of course, she shouldn’t be. Not after what she did to her last night. Taking a tentative step forward, Paige tries to meet Azzi’s eyes. “Az, listen. I’m sorry about—“
“Stop,” Azzi hisses, stepping out of the bathroom, closer to Paige. “I don’t want to hear it. Not—not fucking now.”
Paige opens her mouth, but Azzi holds her hand up, swollen eyes flashing. “Get ready. We’ll leave once you’re done.”
Everything good and stupid in Paige tells her to fall to her knees, beg for forgiveness, take whatever anger Azzi has to give about last night. And maybe, a few years ago, she would’ve. But she’s never seen Azzi like this, and that alone raises enough alarm bells in her head to do exactly what she tells her to do, hanging her head as she sidesteps her into the bathroom, turning the shower on to cold to try and ease the burning behind her eyes, in her throat.
Leaning against the shower wall, Paige rubs a hand over her face, and wishes she were anybody else.
————————————
It’s one hour into the drive home that Azzi speaks to her—really speaks to her—for the first time all day. And when she does, it’s so unexpected that Paige flinches hard enough to jerk the car aside.
“Let’s go to the park, first. So we can talk.”
Once Paige has righted the car, she risks a glance over at Azzi to try to get an idea of what’s going through her head, but her face is turned away, gazing out the window.
Turning back to the road, Paige doesn’t respond. She just drives.
It’s a hot day but once they pull into the park an hour later, the basketball court is empty, and she’s barely stopped the car before Azzi’s getting out. She goes to the backseat and grabs one of the balls Paige keeps there.
“Az,” Paige says, unbuckling.
Azzi looks at her and slams the door shut. Paige watches her walk away through the window before getting out and following her.
It’s clear at this point that talking won’t get Paige anywhere, which is okay and also not: she’s bad with heartfelt stuff, anything too touchy-feely—it makes her uncomfortable; but talking is also what she does best. She’s never been one to stand in awkward silence or take it when she’s told to shut up, because she always has something to say and it’s why Azzi often affectionately refers to her as ‘my yapper’.
There’s nothing affectionate in the way Azzi looks at her now, nothing soft in those doe eyes, nothing sweet in the dimples borne of a scowl. Paige doesn’t know what to do with this version of Azzi.
After a moment, Azzi starts dribbling the ball, and the mere sound is enough to get Paige kneeling a little bit, body reacting before her mind can, ready for a game. But Azzi doesn’t pass to her. “You wanna play?” she asks tentatively.
Azzi stares at her for a moment, then slowly shakes her head. She drops the ball and it rolls a few feet away from them. “No. Not really.”
Paige nods. Shoves her hands in her pockets, then takes them out.
It’s a torturously long stretch of silence before Azzi says, “What are we doing, Paige?”
Paige looks at her best friend, but she finds she can’t really look her in the eye, and she hates that, so she looks at the asphalt underneath her instead.
“And don’t say we’re pretending,” Azzi continues when Paige opens her mouth to say just that, “because last night—that wasn’t pretend.”
The odd thing is her tone lilts up a little at the end, as if she’s asking a question rather than making a statement. But maybe that’s not odd because Paige wonders, too.
Trying to recall everything she thought about during the long ride here, Paige glances up, takes a small step towards Azzi. “I’m sorry.” She tries to sound both casual and heartfelt, but instead it comes out all raspy and choked, and she cannot cry right now. “For this whole trip, this whole thing—I shouldn’t have asked you to do this for me.”
Azzi inhales like she’s going to interrupt. Now, it’s Paige’s turn to stop her. “Just, let me, okay?”
Azzi’s brows are furrowed, but she nods.
Almost immediately, Paige regrets saying anything. It’s now, with Azzi staring at her expectantly, that she realizes she has nothing to say. She has been thinking about it nonstop, all day, and still she doesn’t understand everything going through her mind—the guilt, the fear, the feelings.
She decides it’s safest to start with the guilt. “I need to say I’m sorry. About last night…” she fumbles, tries her hardest to right herself, “I shouldn’t have asked you to do this for me. Shoulda treated you better, instead of taking out my shit with my mom on you. And I shouldn’t have let things get so…real.”
Azzi doesn’t react much. Her stance doesn’t change, expression doesn’t really waver. Eventually she steps forward, so they’re an arms-length away from each other. “Paige,” she says.
Paige shuffles from one foot to the other. “Yeah?”
“You’re sorry,” she reiterates, and Paige nods, a little confused. Fuck, she’s really never been good with words. “You’re sorry for—last night?”
Something inside her wants to correct Azzi, tell her if she could go back and do last night over, she wouldn’t change it, and she doesn’t think she’s ever had to act when it comes to loving her best friend. But she doesn’t say that, instead opting for something less weighted, more trivial—“And for asking you to pretend to love me.”
Azzi’s stare is flat for another second before her eyes widen, and she turns around, pushing her hands into to her hair and shaking her head. And Paige can’t see her but it almost sounds like she’s…laughing?
“Azzi,” Paige mutters.
Azzi turns on her, then, and there is a smile on her face but it’s bitter, nothing humorous in it. “I can’t believe you.”
It’s Paige’s turn to stare. “What?”
“Paige,” Azzi says slowly. Then again, “Paige. You left me this morning. You fucked me last night and then you left me to wake up alone and you couldn’t even look me in the eye all day and now, what? Now you’re fucking—“ two steps forward, and then she’s jabbing an accusatory finger into Paige’s chest, “apologizing about last night? About everything? Like it was all a mistake?”
Paige can’t help but take a step back, heart racing. “I don’t…I mean, exactly. We’re all weird now—honestly we have been since the first week we started pretending—and I don’t want us to be like that. I hate this, Az. I just wanna be normal again.”
Azzi takes a step toward her. “Have we ever been normal?”
That gives Paige pause. Hands, legs, intertwined; fingers creeping under shirts while they lay together at night; stealing glances when they think the other isn’t looking. All things Paige never let herself think about too hard, because it made her nervous, jumpy. And now, after so many years of buildup has finally come crashing down on both of them, they have no choice but to talk about it.
She has nothing to say.
When she’s met with silence, Azzi scoffs. “Even now, you’re too fucking stubborn to admit it.”
“What?” Paige nearly whispers. “I’m not being stubborn,” and she’s really not, “I just—things were good, between us. You’re my best friend and I’m trying to apologize for—for the way I’ve been acting, for being distant and…and rude, and for being a shitty friend and complicating things and—“
“I don’t care!” Azzi screeches, and it startles Paige into silence. “God, Paige, you are so fucking stupid sometimes. Did you ever stop to think about why I dropped everything and came to Montana for you? Why I let you kiss me and look at me and fucking go down on me last night?”
Paige opens her mouth, closes it, and something curls in her tummy, this coiling in her gut warning her of how dangerously close they’re getting to everything she wants to leave unsaid. “I don’t—“
“Of course not,” Azzi scoffs, and Paige hates the anger in her tone. “I should’ve known. Because you’re only ever thinking about yourself. Making sure everything you do aligns with your little moral compass to make you feel good about yourself—well, guess what, Paige? You did fuck up this time.”
Paige steps forward, trying to wrap her mind around anything else other than the way Azzi’s looking at her like she hates her. “I know, I know,” she says, pleading.
Azzi stands her ground when she says, “You left this morning.”
Paige nods, understanding now. “I know.”
“Why?”
“Because I needed—time to think.”
“And, until just now, you didn’t realize that might make me upset? Waking up alone after last night?”
Paige watches her, and seeing the way her eyes get shiny makes her own throat constrict. “I guess, no, but I—things were going to be awkward, and I felt bad, and I was scared.” She finally admits it, the fear, and it doesn’t do much to loosen the knot in her throat. “I thought it was a—a mistake.”
“Well I didn’t think last night was a mistake, Paige,” Azzi says lowly.
And it’s then—just then, seeing the way the tears threaten to fall but don’t, trapped behind the words she wants to say but can’t—that realization dawns on Paige. And it’s enough to make her chest constrict because, no, it can’t be true.
Still, like watching a car crash, Paige can’t bring herself to stop looking. “Why?” she whispers, already knowing the answer.
When Azzi looks up at her with a quivering bottom lip and nothing left in her eyes but heartbreak, it’s all the confirmation she needs.
Paige stumbles back, and Azzi lifts an arm like she’s going to reach out, but drops it helplessly as the first tear tracks down her face. “I thought—maybe, you knew. I thought you knew and you were acting the way you have been because—“ she hiccups like a little kid, and it breaks Paige’s heart, “because you were staring to feel the same. I thought, last night, there was something real. Did you not feel it, Paige?” she doesn’t give her time to answer before she’s continuing. “And now I’m wearing these clothes in this weather because I couldn’t stand to look at the marks you left on me and you’re standing here telling me you’re sorry for wanting to fuck me, and God, Paige—I’ve loved you since I was fourteen. I loved you since I was fourteen and I should’ve fucking known you’d end up doing this to me.”
“Azzi,” Paige chokes out, the knot unraveling and giving way to free-falling tears.
“Paige,” Azzi replies, and there’s desperation in her tone like she wants to reach out, but instead she wipes furiously at her face before crossing her arms, effectively creating a barrier between them. “I need to know.”
Watching tears stream down Azzi’s cheeks, it’s all Paige wants to do to comfort her, to wipe them away. But her own vision is blurring and Azzi has this look in her eyes—like she hates her, like she loves her and she hates herself for it.
“Know what?” she whispers, the sun beating down on the back of her neck in a way that makes her nauseous.
“If you—“ Azzi’s bottom lip quivers, “if you feel it, too. If you love me, too.”
When Paige blinks the moisture from her eyes, there’s a moment of darkness and behind it she sees every moment, every fucking moment where they toed an invisible line, only to never speak of it again, to act as if nothing happened.
She opens her eyes, and realizes maybe they’ve spent their whole lives pretending, and only really stopped when they were just supposed to start.
There have always been feelings. Always an intensity when it came to Azzi, evident in the way Paige would get jealous of any of her other friends, the blowout fights they’d have over small things, because they couldn’t talk about the big things.
Paige has always wanted Azzi as something more. But—love.
Love is so complicated and scary and Paige doesn’t think she’d even be that good at it, anyway. And what if they did this—addressed the feelings between them and dated, for real? Azzi would be perfect, like she always is. Kind and gentle and soft, and Paige can only exhale at the thought of having her best friend that way.
But she inhales deeply, and imagines how she would is. She’s stubborn, hard-headed. Bad with words, bad with apologies.
“Azzi,” Paige says for the nth time, the only word she knows anymore, so she says it like a prayer. “We did one thing last night and I couldn’t even do that right. I couldn’t do any of this right, this entire trip. You don’t—you don’t want me. Trust me. You don’t.”
“You don’t know what I want!” Azzi cries, uncrossing her arms to push again at Paige’s chest. “You’re not perfect, Paige, and I am really fucking mad at you,” she bites, “but you have no idea how much I want you.”
“And you have no idea how much that scares me,” Paige replies, eyes downcast, a few tears dripping onto her sneakers. “I’m good at being your friend, Az. Let me be your friend.”
Azzi lets out a sob at that. “Paige, please, I know—you have to feel something, you don’t act the way you do and not feel anything, I—“
“I’m not saying I don’t feel it,” Paige admits shallowly. “It’s just like I said. I’m scared.”
For the next few moments, there’s silence, and in it Paige hears the birds singing, the distant voices of kids laughing at the playground. But then there’s a sniffle, a scuffle of shoes, and she dares to look up only to find Azzi facing away from her.
“Okay,” Azzi says, voice cracking heartbreakingly. “That’s it, I guess.”
Paige clutches at her belly. “What do you mean?”
“After everything that’s happened,” Azzi whimpers, “you think we can just go back to normal?”
It’s stupid, but that’s what Paige was hoping for. But she knows neither of them can forget this, leave it behind. And she doesn’t know if Azzi can forgive her, either.
She wouldn’t blame her if she never did. Even though the notion kills her.
“I’m sorry,” is all she can say, but it’s weak, broken, and Azzi just shakes her head, not bothering to look back as she heads slowly to the car.
“I’m tired, Paige,” she says. “Just take us home.”
————————————
When Paige walks through the front door, the house feels empty—her parents are gone again for work—but when she walks into the kitchen she finds Lauren on a barstool, eating cereal and watching TikTok. Paige tries to slip past her but Lauren perks up, spinning around and grinning when she spots Paige. “You’re back!”
“Yup,” Paige says, trying for a smile.
Lauren hops off the barstool and as she walks up to her, she gets this weird look on her face, like she’s studying her—but then she’s hugging her and Paige breathes a sigh of relief. “You guys have fun?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Where’s Azzi?”
“She’s, uh…out in the car.”
Lauren pulls away to scrunch her nose. “Why?”
“I dunno,” Paige says evasively, unraveling herself from her little sister’s arms. “Listen, I gotta headache, I’ma be up in my room. But lemme know if you need anything.”
Paige makes her way to the staircase, and Lauren follows after, the way little sisters do. She hears the footsteps padding behind her and remembers when she was a teenager, and Lauren was just a toddler, and their mom would always joke that Paige had a little shadow because Lauren would follow her everywhere.
Back then, it was annoying—and it is now too—but it’s also comforting, endearing.
Still, Paige gets midway up the stairs before turning around to face her sister. “I wanna be alone, Laur.”
Lauren frowns up at her. “Why?”
Paige picks at her thumbnail. “Don’t you wanna be alone sometimes?”
“I guess.”
“Well, this is like that. Just need some time.”
She takes a couple more stairs, but Lauren is still following behind her, and she turns around again. “Dude.”
“I wanna hang out with you!”
“I’m sorry,” Paige says, and she really is, guilty about the disappointment etched on Lauren’s face. “I promise we’ll hang later, okay?”
“Like later today?”
“I dunno, Laur.” The thought of doing anything but moping with her own thoughts sounds exhausting, and it’s evident in her exasperated tone. “I’m tired, we had a big night.”
“Really?” Lauren’s face morphs into a teasing smile. “Doing what?”
Paige fumbles, covers it by reaching to play with the cross at her neck. “Don’t, Lauren.”
“I’m sure you spent allll night kissing your girlfriend, didn’t you?”
Paige takes a breath so deep it’s nearly a gasp, for air, maybe, and she spins on her heel, taking the last steps two at a time. “I’m going to my room now,” she says, eternally grateful that Lauren doesn’t follow her this time. As a last thought, she calls over her shoulder, “And don’t bother Azzi, either.”
Once she’s in her room, she heaves against the closed door, looks around. They’ve been here eight days now, and it doesn’t seem like long but they’ve already left their imprint on this room: their scents mingling into the sheets, bed unmade, toiletries scattered in the bathroom.
In her back pocket, her phone buzzes. For a wild moment she thinks it’s Azzi, calling to ask if she wants anything from the coffee shop or to lay out their plan for the day, but she remembers quickly enough that Azzi has no reason to be calling her. With trembling fingers, she pulls the phone out, and is relieved to see it’s Drew on the other end.
“Hey,” she says when she picks up, plopping down onto the bed as casually as possible.
“Guess what,” is what Drew starts out with, and Paige smiles tenderly as she watches her brother give her an expectant look.
“Aw, I missed you, too,” Paige says, and when Drew’s expression turns to a scowl she laughs. “Okay, what?”
“You’re ’posed to guess.”
Paige sighs; she hates this game. “Fine. Um, Dad got us a puppy?”
“No.” Drew frowns. “I wish.”
“Lame. You’re coming to see me?”
This makes Drew frown even harder. “No, but I wish that too.”
“We’re going to Disneyland?”
“Aw, I wanna go to Disneyland!” Drew is downright pouting now. “Your guesses suck.”
“You didn’t gimme any context!”
“The heck is context?” Drew looks at her as if she’s the dumb one, but before she can retaliate he says, “Fine, I’ll just tell you. Dad said when you get back he’s gonna get us those shoes we wanted.”
“Shit, really?” Paige should be reluctant to match with her eight-year-old brother, but in her opinion he’s way cooler than most eight-year-olds. And also, those shoes are pretty dope. “Sweet. I thought he wasn’t gonna cave.”
“Yeah, I gave him my cute eyes.”
“Thought he said you were too old to be cute.”
“He was lying, I guess.”
Drew widens his eyes and pouts, the look Paige taught him when he was a toddler because if she was too old to mooch her way into things, her baby brother would have to do her dirty work. And it looks different now, without the chubby cheeks and missing teeth, but it’s still just as adorable as it was then. “You’re a real one, Drewski.”
“Mm-hmm.” They settle into momentary silence, Drew’s eyes wandering from the phone to something ahead of him—Paige thinks maybe his TV—and his gaze stays faraway when he mumbles, “I miss you, Paigey.”
Staring at her little brother over the phone—the little brother who’s her best friend, who has never been complicated or scary, who is taller every time she comes home from college—Paige’s throat constricts again, a constant ache beginning to form there from how tightly knotted it’s been all day. “I miss you, too. But I’ll be back before you know it.”
“Still another week.”
“Less than that.”
“Feels like forever.”
“I know,” Paige sighs, suddenly grateful that her too-old-for-emotions little brother is avoiding eye contact, because she can see her own nose and eyes growing red over the screen. “We got the whole summer together, though. By the end of it you’ll be sick of me.”
Drew shakes his head firmly. “No I won’t.”
Again, Paige sighs, trying her hardest to exhale all the feelings creeping up on her. “Me neither.”
“I wish I could come to college with you.”
Paige gives an exaggerated groan at that, causing Drew to look back at her. “No you don’t, I promise. It’s boring.”
“You go to parties every weekend!”
Paige looks at him in surprise. “Who told you that?”
“I have my sources.”
“Was it Ice?”
“KK, actually.”
“Yeah, well, KK’s a dirty liar. I’m way too studious for parties or any of that.”
“KK also said you kiss a lot of girls.”
At this, Paige gasps, downright scandalized. “I do not!”
“Well, she said that you used to, before you dated Azzi.”
Her very name is enough to yank Paige out of this bubble Drew pulled her into, and it’s like getting out of a warm bed on a cold morning. “I guess so.”
“Where is Azzi, anyway? I wanna see her.”
“Uh,” Paige hesitates—she hates lying to her brother, because they may be over a decade apart but they are each other’s confidantes—but she can’t just go telling the truth. Not now, and certainly not to a third-grader. “She’s out right now.”
“Out where?”
“The…gym.”
“But you always go to the gym together.”
“Well, I didn’t feel like going.”
“Why not?”
“Drew,” Paige says, a little too firmly, immediately guilty at the confused look in his eyes, “listen,” she says more softly, “I’m sure you can talk to her later, okay? Just not right now.”
Paige expects more complaints, but what comes instead is a bout of silence and then, “Are you okay, Paigey?”
Drew leans closer to the screen to get a better look at her, and instinctively, Paige pulls the phone away from her face. “Yeah, I’m all good. Why?”
“You just seem a little sad.”
Sad generously understates Paige’s state of mind. But, at the same time, he’s right on the nose, reading her incredibly.
“Promise,” she lies. “I’m good.”
By the time they end the call, Drew still seems suspicious.
————————————
When, ten minutes later, Azzi still hasn’t come inside, Paige peeks out her bedroom window. The car is still in the driveway, and the sun is glaring unhelpfully on the front window but Paige can just make out Azzi’s form in the passenger seat. She can’t tell what she’s doing—she’d assumed she’d be calling her mom, because she knows Azzi and when she’s hurt she calls her mom.
Paige has never made Azzi call her mom before. She is officially the very person she’s always hated: somebody who could hurt her best friend, so heartless and cruel she could make the unshakeable Azzi Fudd cry.
She hates herself for it.
Hates herself enough, in fact, that she almost wants to go out there. To apologize a million times over—something she’ll end up doing anyway—and to comfort her and to let her break that last barrier away, the barrier that kept her from saying yes in the park, the root of all her fears and inhibitions. To ask Azzi to give her a chance and to be brave enough to take it. To risk everything they’ve so carefully built over the years for something that could be even better.
But then, Azzi glances up. Paige ducks away from the window, wincing at the sound of the car door slamming.
The front door follows soon thereafter, and Paige presses her ear to the bedroom door, trying to make out Azzi and Lauren’s conversation downstairs. She can’t hear them, though—she can only hear enough to know that Lauren is doing most of the talking. And she doesn’t have nearly long enough to prepare when Azzi’s familiar footsteps ascend the stairs, coming closer to her with each rapid thump of her heart.
Paige barely has the common sense to back away from the door just before she comes in. And then, it opens, and they’re standing face-to-face, Azzi’s eyes red-rimmed and stone-cold as they avoid Paige’s.
“Hey,” Paige says hesitantly.
When Azzi doesn’t answer, Paige steps out of the way, wondering if maybe Azzi wants to come in, but she stays put. Her gaze goes over Paige’s shoulder, to the bed. She looks exhausted.
“You tryna sleep?” Paige asks. Azzi only shrugs, making a noncommittal noise in the back of her throat.
“Aight, I’ll…leave, then.”
Still, Azzi doesn’t move from the doorway. Finally, her eyes find Paige’s, and she holds them there when she says, “I think…I think I’m done, Paige.”
She’d implied it, earlier—That’s it, then—but hearing her say it out loud like this is a whole other thing, and it makes Paige want to double over. It’s instinctive, the way she reaches out to beg Azzi to stay, to let her amend for her wrongdoings and make everything right again, but Azzi flinches back and her arm falls limply to her side. “Okay,” Paige says, helpless. “I was looking at flights, earlier—I could get you one for tonight, or tomorrow morning, I know you prefer morning flights. But if you want good seats you might have to wait a couple days, but I could maybe call the airline and see what I can do? Just, whatever you want.”
Azzi winces, shaking her head slowly. “No, I meant—I’ll stay, for the trip. So your parents don’t get suspicious.”
“You don’t—“
“But after that,” Azzi interjects, “I think I have to be done. With you.”
Paige doesn’t react much, not outwardly—she takes a small step that’s more of a stumble back, and her eyes widen—but on the inside it feels as if she’s being ripped in two. “Azzi.”
“Don’t,” Azzi murmurs. She kicks at the floor. “I—we—need this. If we ever want a chance at being us again, we need space, okay? We need time.”
Paige stammers, so many words lunging up her throat but stopping behind her lips, creating a torrent so strong she can only make a weak, helpless sound. “I’m sorry,” she says.
“I don’t blame you,” Azzi mutters, looking up at her as she takes a small, tentative step forward. “You can’t help how you feel.”
Paige wants to scream at her, to say I feel it, too, to take her by the shoulders and hold her close and whisper, I love you, too—but she can’t.
So instead she says, “I wasn’t—I meant—I’m sorry. For leaving you this morning, for acting distant a couple days ago—for sending so many mixed signals, for being rude to you at the lake and for being mean when we got here—“ as she says it, it all becomes very clear to her, just how much she has managed to damage the trust between them in such a short amount of time. “It might not help, but I need you to know, you know?”
Slowly, Azzi nods, and her hand brushes against Paige’s arm. “I know you are,” she whispers. “I just—I don’t know if I can…”
“It’s okay,” Paige is quick to fill the silence, her arm burning from where Azzi touched her, “I know, it’s okay.”
Azzi bites her lip, and when her eyes trail back to the bed Paige shuffles awkwardly. “Hey, how about I sleep downstairs tonight, okay?” when Azzi opens her mouth, Paige stops her. “We’ll tell my parents that you kicked me out because I was—snoring too loud, or something. I dunno.”
“But won’t they think—?”
“Don’t worry about it.” Paige waves her off, stepping aside, relieved when Azzi finally comes in. “You deserve some sleep.”
She doesn’t expect her to, but when Azzi doesn’t protest any further, doesn’t say I can’t sleep without you next to me, it comes with a bitter disappointment.
She really, really fucked up this time.

NOTHING MUCH(Russo's sister X Leah Williamson)
Kay Russo had always been Alessia’s shadow. Since they were little girls, Alessia was the star of the family: the one who shined on the football field, the one who made her parents proud, the one who had a solid group of friends who seemed to want to crush anyone who didn’t fit into their perfect world. Kay, on the other hand, was “the other.” It wasn’t that she wasn’t talented; it just never seemed like enough.
As they grew up, the differences became more pronounced. Alessia had a clear path: Manchester United, the English national team, and eventually Arsenal. On the other hand, Kay was stuck in mediocre jobs and awful comments from her parents and sister. “Why can’t you be more like Alessia?” was a phrase she heard all too often.
The relationship between Kay and Alessia was tense, but the breaking point came one night, when Alessia, along with a group of her friends, began to make fun of Kay in front of everyone at a family gathering.
“And you, Kay?” “What have you been up to lately?” Alessia said with a venomous smile. “Did you find a job or are you still living off of mom and dad’s money?”
Laughter echoed around the room, and though Kay tried to keep her composure, she felt her stomach churn with shame. That night, locked in her room, Kay collapsed on her bed with her eyes filled with tears. She knew she had to change something in her life and escape that toxic dynamic. It was then that while surfing the internet, she saw an ad for the Royal Navy: “Find a purpose. Discover your potential. Join the Royal Navy.”
Kay didn’t think twice. She knew that enlisting was her ticket out, but she also knew that her family would never understand. So she made a drastic decision: she didn’t tell them anything. The following week, the recruitment process began.
A few weeks later, Kay received confirmation: she had been accepted. The date to report was marked on her calendar, and as it approached, she felt a mix of nerves and relief. One night before she left, she decided she should at least tell her family something, but not everything.
“I’m leaving tomorrow, I’ll be gone for a while,” she said over dinner.
Her mother looked up from her plate with disdain.
“On vacation? With what money?” she asked sarcastically.
Kay took a deep breath, trying not to lose her cool. “Never mind, I just wanted to let them know.”
Alessia laughed softly and murmured, “Always so mysterious.”
Kay gritted her teeth, finishing her meal in silence. That would be the last dinner she would share with them for a long time.
The day Kay left, she left home early, carrying a backpack and leaving behind a short note on the kitchen table: “I’m gone. I don’t know when I’ll be back. Take care of yourselves.”
The months that followed were a whirlwind. Basic training in the Royal Navy was brutal, but Kay held on to it with determination. Every physical exercise, every lesson, every grueling hour felt like a step toward freedom. Here she wasn't "Alessia's sister," she didn't have to endure her family's hurtful comments. Here she was simply Kay, someone trying hard to find her place.
After completing her training, Kay was given her first leave. She decided to return home, even though she knew it would be difficult.
When she arrived, the reception was cold. Alessia wasn’t even there; she was away on a trip with her team. Her parents barely showed any interest in hearing about her experience in the Navy.
“So what’s next?” her father asked in an indifferent tone. “Are you going to be here long?”
Kay felt the knot in her chest grow bigger. That night, as Alessia posted pictures on Instagram with her teammates, Kay sat alone in the backyard, wondering if she would ever truly belong in this family.
It was during one of those visits home that Kay met Leah Williamson. Alessia had invited some of her teammates over for dinner, and though Kay tried to stay out of the way, she couldn’t help but run into them. Leah was kind, something Kay hadn’t expected. They had a brief but meaningful conversation, and in that moment, Kay felt something she hadn’t felt in a long time: connection.
Kay returned to her base after that brief visit home. The experience only reinforced what she already knew: her family would not change. But one thing remained in her mind: Leah Williamson. They had exchanged a few words over dinner, but there was something about her warmth, the way she seemed to see Kay as a person, and not as a shadow of Alessia. Leah didn’t know her, she was unprejudiced, and that made her different.
The day Kay had her first chance to visit London while on leave, she remembered that Leah was playing for Arsenal. She decided to take a chance and attend a match. It was strange to be surrounded by thousands of fans excited about something that, until recently, had been a source of insecurity for her: football and the shadow of her sister. Alessia was not on the team yet, which made the experience a little more bearable.
After the match, Leah, who had played spectacularly, was surrounded by fans and media. Kay watched her from a distance, trying to convince herself that she would simply leave without saying anything. But Leah saw her.
“Kay!” she called from the field, waving excitedly.
Kay froze for a moment before shyly approaching.
“What are you doing here babe?” Leah asked, clearly surprised but pleased.
Kay shrugged, trying not to look nervous. “I was in town and thought I’d come to watch the game.”
Leah smiled, and something in her expression made Kay feel less invisible. “I’m glad you came. Do you have plans now?”
Before she could stop herself, Kay shook her head. That night, they ended up having dinner together at a small, low-key restaurant near the stadium. It was the start of something unexpected.
As the months passed, Kay’s visits to London became more frequent. She always found an excuse to see her, and Leah seemed to enjoy her company as much as she enjoyed Leah’s. They talked about everything: life in the Navy, the challenges of being a professional soccer player, and, occasionally, Kay’s family struggles.
One night, as they walked through the quiet streets of London after dinner, Leah stopped and looked at her seriously.
“Kay, why don’t you ever talk about Alessia much? I know you are sisters, but you almost seem to avoid mentioning her.”
Kay looked at the ground, feeling her chest tighten. Talking about Alessia was like opening a wound that never healed.
“It’s complicated, Leah. I’ve always been… different to them. Alessia’s the star, the one who shines. I… I just exist on the periphery.”
Leah took her hand, an unexpected but comforting gesture. “That’s not fair, Kay. You shouldn’t feel that way.”
Kay looked up, surprised by Leah’s sincerity. It was at that moment that she knew this connection was something special.
As her relationship with Leah grew stronger, Kay knew there would be trouble sooner or later. Leah was a public figure, and although she hadn’t revealed details of her personal life to the world, speculation was constant. The Arsenal team was full of rumors about who Leah’s partner could be, but no one suspected Kay. Alessia, still playing in Manchester, had no idea that her younger sister was getting so close to one of her friends.
Kay also knew that her family wouldn’t approve of the relationship, not only because of who Leah was, but because the idea that she could have anything valuable in her life seemed inconceivable to them.
Everything changed when Kay received the news of a new deployment abroad. It was a high-risk mission, and although she was used to challenges, this time was different. Now she had something to lose. When she told Leah, the reaction was immediate.
“How long will you be gone honey?” Leah asked, trying to remain calm.
“I don’t know but it could be months.” Leah nodded and cuddled her, but Kay could see the worry in her eyes. That night, as they said goodbye, Leah hugged her tighter than usual.
“Just promise me you’ll come back, okay?”
Kay didn’t answer, because she knew that was a promise she couldn’t guarantee.
During deployment, Kay was severely wounded in an ambush. The bullet that hit her back damaged her spine, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors told her she would never walk again. The physical pain was immense, but the emotional blow was even worse.
When she was finally able to reach Leah from the military hospital, the conversation was brief but full of emotion.
“I’m alive,” was the first thing Kay said, her voice shaking.
Leah, on the other end of the line, let out a sigh of relief, but she couldn’t hide her worry. “What happened, Kay? Tell me the truth.”
Kay closed her eyes, feeling the tears begin to flow. “I’m in a wheelchair, Leah.” I don’t know what’s going to happen to me.
The silence on the other end of the line was painful, but when Leah finally spoke, her voice was firm. “I’m going to be with you, Kay. No matter what.”
Kay spent weeks in the military hospital, facing the reality of her condition. Doctors stabilized her, but the words she most feared hearing finally came: she would never walk again. She wasn’t ready to face it. Her life as she knew it had changed forever. The military, her only refuge, was also out of reach.
London became her next destination. The medical staff recommended that she be transferred to a civilian hospital where she could receive specialized treatment and subsequently begin the rehabilitation process. When Kay thought about where she could stay afterward, only one person came to mind: Leah.
Leah waited for Kay at Heathrow Airport, visibly worried. Even though she had received constant updates about her condition, seeing her in person would be an emotional challenge. When Kay appeared in the wheelchair, pushed by a hospital attendant, Leah felt her heart tighten in her chest.
Kay wore a stoic expression as if she was using all her strength to keep her emotions in check. Leah could see past that, though. Kay’s eyes, once full of life, now reflected exhaustion and pain.
“Hi my love" Kay said quietly as she came to her side.
Leah leaned in to hug her, ignoring the fact that they were in the middle of a crowded airport. It was a long hug, one they both needed.
“Welcome home baby,” Leah said softly leaning against her and kiss her deeply.
Kay wanted to correct her, reminding her that London wasn’t her home, but she couldn’t find the words. Maybe, after all, Leah was the closest thing she had to a home.
Leah’s London flat was cozy but small, and the modifications needed to accommodate the wheelchair made the space feel even more cramped. Leah had worked tirelessly to get everything ready, installing ramps and rearranging furniture. Kay felt grateful, but also deeply uncomfortable.
“You didn’t have to do all this, Le” Kay said as she scanned the space with difficulty.
Leah, who was making a cup of tea, turned to her with a calm smile. “Of course I did. I wasn’t going to let you go through this alone.”
Kay nodded, but inside, guilt and frustration were growing. She wasn’t used to depending on anyone, let alone someone as important to her as Leah.
The first few weeks were a mix of intense emotions. Kay tried to keep a routine, attending physical therapy sessions and learning to adjust to her new life. However, every little failure—not being able to reach something, needing help with simple tasks—felt like a monumental defeat.
One night, while Leah was cooking, Kay decided it was time to talk about what had happened at the military hospital. It was a weight she had carried alone for far too long.
“Leah, can you sit down for a moment?”
Leah stopped what she was doing and sat across from Kay in the living room. The concern on her face was evident.
“What’s wrong, Kay?”
Kay took a deep breath, her hands shaking slightly. “There’s something I need to tell you about what they did to me in the Navy before all the injuries happened.”
Leah nodded, her expression becoming more serious. “I’m listening.”
Kay began to speak, her voice shaky at first, but gaining strength as she went on. She told him about the treatments she’d endured: the electroshocks they justified as “experimental therapy,” the times they’d left her alone for hours without help, and the “rehab” sessions that often included pushing her physically to the limit.
“There were days I thought… I wasn’t going to get out of there. They yelled at me that I needed to be strong, that if I couldn’t take it, I didn’t deserve to be in the military.”
Leah clenched her fists as she listened, her face reflecting a mix of anger and sadness.
“How could they do that to you?” she finally asked, her voice cracking.
“It’s the price of being weak in their world, Leah. They couldn’t stand someone like me not being “useful” anymore.”
Leah leaned forward, taking Kay’s hands in hers. “Listen to me, Kay. What they did was inhumane, and you have nothing to be ashamed of. You are one of the strongest people I know.”
The tears Kay had been holding back finally began to fall. Leah didn’t say anything else, she held her, allowing her to release all the pain she had built up over the months.
Alessia’s arrival at Arsenal added a new layer of tension to Kay’s life. Although both had avoided any confrontation, Alessia’s passive-aggressive comments were quick to appear.
One afternoon, while Leah and Kay were at home, Alessia arrived unannounced. Leah had forgotten to lock her door, and Alessia walked in like she owned the place.
“So this is where you’re hiding, Kay?” Alessia said, with a sarcastic smile as she looked around the apartment.
Leah, who was in the kitchen, quickly came out upon hearing Alessia’s tone. “What are you doing here, Alessia?”
“I just wanted to see how my long-lost sister lived. It seems you’ve been busy… or should I say ‘well-kept’?”
Kay, who was in the living room, turned to face Alessia. “What do you want, Alessia?”
“I want to understand how you went from being a ghost to… this.” She pointed at Leah with a nod.
Leah, clearly upset, stepped in. “Alessia, if you come here to cause trouble, you can leave.”
The exchange escalated, and Kay felt old wounds reopening. Alessia had always known how to touch her weak spots, and Leah was caught in the middle. Eventually, Leah had to ask Alessia to leave, leaving Kay emotionally drained.
Despite the conflicts, the relationship between Kay and Leah continued to grow stronger. The emotional connection they shared was evident, and small displays of affection—a hand on the shoulder, an unexpected hug—began to evolve into something more.
One night, while watching a movie together, Leah leaned slightly toward Kay, resting her head on her shoulder. Kay, surprised at first, allowed the gesture and smiled.
It was a small moment of intimacy, but to Kay, it meant more than Leah could ever imagine.
Winter had come to the city, and with it, the streets of London were filled with Christmas lights and decorations. Kay, however, barely noticed the festivities. Her days were divided between physical therapy, medical adjustments, and increasingly intimate moments with Leah. However, the conflict with Alessia and the memories of the abuse at the military compound weighed on her like a constant shadow.
One morning, as Kay tried to adjust to the new exercise routine her physical therapist had recommended, Leah received an unexpected text from Alessia. She wanted to “talk.”
“Is it a good idea to give her space after what happened here?” Kay asked from her spot in the living room, as Leah checked the message.
Leah sighed, leaving her phone on the table. “I think it’s not just you, Kay. Alessia… she has issues to work out with herself.”
Kay raised an eyebrow. “Don’t justify what she does. She’s always found ways to make me feel like I’m worthless.” Leah walked over and knelt in front of Kay, placing her hands over hers. “No one has the right to make you feel that way. Not even Alessia.”
Kay wanted to believe her, but the years of emotional abuse she had endured were not easy to forget.
That afternoon, Leah went to Arsenal Stadium to meet Alessia after training. Alessia, who had been in a bad mood all day, was quick to spill the beans.
“What the hell are you doing with Kay?” Alessia asked bluntly as Leah closed the door to the meeting room.
Leah, trying to remain calm, replied, “I’m looking out for her. Something no one else is doing.”
“Looking out?” Alessia let out a sarcastic laugh. “Since when do you need to play savior?”
Leah frowned. “This isn’t a game, Alessia.” Kay has been through things that neither you nor I can imagine, and instead of supporting her, you--
“Don’t lecture me!” Alessia interrupted, slamming her hands on the table. “Kay has always been a burden. Every time I tried to stand out, she was there, ruining everything.”
Leah felt her patience wearing thin. “You know what ruins everything, Alessia? Your inability to see her as anything more than a reflection of your insecurities.”
The silence that followed was deafening. Alessia hadn’t expected such a direct response, and for a moment, she didn’t know what to say.
“This isn’t over, Leah,” she finally said, before leaving the room.
That night, Leah returned to the apartment emotionally drained. Kay noticed her expression and decided it was time to share something she had been holding back.
“What happened?” Kay asked as Leah plopped down on the couch next to her.
“Your sister… doesn’t understand anything,” Leah replied, massaging her temples.
Kay sighed and looked out the window. “It’s because she’s never seen me as her sister, Leah. I was always ‘the other Russo.’ The one with no talent. The one who didn’t fit in.”
Leah turned to her, surprised by the tone of vulnerability in her voice.
“You want to know why I joined the Royal Navy?” Kay asked, her voice shaking slightly.
Leah nodded, knowing Kay needed to vent.
“I saw an ad online while I was looking for a job. It seemed like a way to escape everything… from Alessia, from my family, from myself. I wanted to prove that I could do something for myself, something that no one could take away from me.”
Kay paused, her hands shaking as she recalled those days.
“But even then… it was never enough. And then… then came the hospital.”
Leah took her hand, giving it a gentle but firm squeeze. “You don’t have to tell me if you’re not ready.”
Kay shook her head. “I need to. Because if I don’t, those things are going to keep haunting me.”
Then, Kay began to speak, detailing the horrors she had endured. She described the time when she had arrived at the hospital very badly injured thinking that what had happened was her fault, or that it was all karma for being fragile and not facing things, where she would rather a thousand times have her die than have a partner who had a family that loved him.
“There was a doctor… I will never forget her face.” She told me I was a failure, that someone in a wheelchair was nothing anymore, that I was wasting valuable Navy resources that could be used on soldiers who would go back into combat, I… I can’t take it anymore.” Kay paused, taking a deep breath.
Leah hugged her tightly, unable to hold back her tears. “God, Kay… I can’t imagine what you’ve been through.”
“I don’t want you to see me as a victim, Leah.” Kay rested her forehead on Leah’s shoulder. “I just want to be someone who deserves… something.”
“You deserve everything, Kay. And I’m here to remind you of that every day.”
Despite everything, Kay began to find small moments of peace in her life with Leah. They began to spend more time together, sharing stories and laughing despite the circumstances.
One night, as Leah read a book on the couch, Kay leaned into her, resting her head on her shoulder. Leah smiled and set the book aside, putting an arm around Kay.
“You know?” —Leah said after a while. —I never thought I'd find someone I wanted to share so much with.
Kay looked up, surprised by the confession. —And me?
—You're that person, Kay. My person, my forever.
For the first time in a long time, Kay felt like maybe, just maybe, she had a place in the world where she truly belonged.

AYAYUI IDOL AU: Chapter 1
// I present to you… MY FIRST EVER FANFIC! It’s inspired by these headcanons and these posts. As mentioned before, in this story, the Sakamakis are simply regular idols with a vampire-themed concept; they’re not actually vampires or related. Since I noticed how much you all enjoy this kind of content and have been so supportive, I thought you might like a fanfic based on it. ☺️
I’m by no means a professional writer, and my style leans more towards the visual novel/otome game format. Even so, I hope you’ll like it! 💕
Voice announcement: Ladies and gentlemen, we have now arrived at our destination.
Before you disembark, please take a moment to ensure you have all your personal belongings with you. For your safety, mind the gap between the train and the platform edge as you exit.
We sincerely thank you for choosing our services and travelling with us. It has been our pleasure to serve you, and we hope to welcome you aboard again soon. Take care!
Yui: ( Eh? Is this…—! )
— eyes widen —
I’m here… I’m finally here!
Yui’s Monologue
I can’t believe my dream is actually coming true! All this time, this seemed like a childish wish but right now I truly am in Tokyo…!
Uuh… I’m getting a bit emotional, but can you blame me? It simply feels… surreal.
I never thought my father would agree to let me join a work exchange program in such a massive and dynamic city.
To be honest, I was half expecting him to say no, but it seems he believes in me more than I thought.
Knowing that he trusts me this much… it really makes me want to work even harder to prove he made the right choice.
Yes, that’s so. I will try my best to make father proud!
— takes big breath —
Yui: Nice to meet you, Tokyo. Let’s make this journey one to remember.
Place: Studio
Photographer: And~… pose! Ah yes, exactly like that! Keep on, keep on!
Ayato: ( Man, this shit is so tiring at this point. )
— smiles falsely —
Photographer: W-Wonderful…! Another one, thank you!
— keeps taking pictures —
Ayato: ( Can this woman stop blinding me with that flashlight already? It’s past 11 pm… )
Photographer: Now, a profile sho——
Manager: Hold on.
Pardon my intrusion, but I believe we already have enough pictures for today. Don't you think so?
Photographer: Eh? But we just got star— Oh my, it’s almost 12 am!?
G-Geez, my apologies. I guess the saying “time flies when you’re having fun” must really apply here.
— winks at Ayato —
Ayato: ( Gross! )
Manager: If more promotional pictures are required, we can extend the photoshoot to tomorrow. Watanabe-san, would it be possible for you to arrive earlier if that is the case?
Photographer: With such eye candy around, who could resist spending more time with him~?
Fufu, just kidding. I'll contact the director and get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.
Until then, have a good night! Bye-bye~!
— leaves —
Ayato: Haa… thanks goodness! One more photo, and I might’ve completely lost it.
Manager: I understand completely. Given your schedule, it’s clear you’re quite overworked. Nevertheless, it’s impressive how you still manage to perform so well.
Ayato: Heh… thanks.
— rubs eyes —
Manager: You look a bit tired, Ayato-san. Rest assured, the limousine should be arriving soon.
Ayato: Right, the limo is on its——
( Fuck! I can’t believe I almost forgot about it! )
Wait! Now that I think about it, I’ve got something else to take care of.
So… don’t mind me! Go ahead and take the limo; I’ll call for another one later.
Manager: Haa… Ayato-san.
You're not planning to do something that could get you into trouble, are you?
Ayato: O-Of course not! It’s just… no, it’s nothing important. Just a silly little thing I remembered I had to solve.
— tries to leave —
Manager: Ayato-san!
Ayato: Huh?
Manager: Do NOT let anyone see you, understood?
— Ayato nods and leaves —
???: You’re late.
Ayato: …!
Man, you almost gave me a heart attack!
Laito: My bad~. You came prepared at least, didn’t you?
Ayato: Yeah, yeah.
— puts cap and mask on —
Laito: Nfu, let’s go, shall we?
Place: Street
Yui: Uuh… come on! Why is no taxi in sight?
( It’s been two hours and I still couldn’t find my way to the Airbnb. )
( I knew Tokyo was huge, but I wasn’t expecting the transportation system to be this complicated… )
— looks at sky —
( It’s already late, huh? )
( I wonder if it’s safe for a girl to roam on these streets at this hour. Well, at least I hope it is, otherwise… )
Place: Private Night Club
Laito: Two Cosmopolitans. One for me, and one for that very fine lady over there, nfu.
Ayato: Another glass of Tequila.
Laito: Heh, another one? Is this the fifth by chance?
Ayato: I had a busy week, okay?
Laito: Ah, of course you did. After all, our Ayato-kun is the IT boy of this generation. Always swamped with brand deals, while the rest of us barely get a crumb~.
Ayato: …Not funny.
Laito: C’mon, don’t take it too seriously.
— pats his back —
I doubt any of us could care less about brand deals anyway. The idol job already pays well enough, and with barely any time for ourselves, why would we want to give up even more of our freedom?
Ayato: ( It’s not like it’s my choice though. )
Well, I can’t deny that the love I get is cool and all, but sometimes… hmm, how do I put it? It feels like people only like me because I’m an idol, y’know?
Laito: That’s to be expected, isn’t it? Fans often form a one-sided connection with idols simply because we’re constantly visible and accessible through the media, without really knowing who we are or what we’re capable of.
On top of that, you’re the visual, the face everyone admires. Who wouldn’t be drawn to someone who's not only stunning but also famous? It’s like the perfect package for embodying every girl’s fantasy.
Ayato’s monologue
Laito… he always knows what to say.
Seriously, this guy is so aware of everything around him to the point that it’s becoming unsettling.
And the worst part? He’s not just talking—he’s right, which is why it almost hurts to hear it.
At the end of the day, we idols are just puppets, carefully crafted to feed into the fans’ delusions. They don’t see us for who we truly are, but rather as a fantasy they can cling to.
And we, caught in the spotlight, are forced to live out that role.
Before becoming an idol, I was surrounded by people who kept me around because of my looks. At first, the amount of attention felt good, but as I mature, I realize just how hollow that really is.
I can’t help but wonder… if it weren’t for my appearance or status, would anyone actually treat me nicely? Would anyone be willing to accept me, flaws and all?
Heh… now I just sound stupid. As long as I’m an idol, I doubt I’ll get my answer anytime soon.
Waitress: Here we go, gentlemen. The Cosmopolitan and the Tequila.
Laito: Hello, earth to Ayato-kun, are you still in there?
— waves in front of his eyes —
Ayato: Yeah, yeah. I was just spacing out a bit.
Laito: Nfu, cheers.
Ayato: Cheers.
— they start drinking —
Ayato: Ngh…!
( My chest… it started aching! )
Laito: Hm, you good?
Ayato: Y-Yeah… I just— Ngh!
( It’s getting worse! )
I need some fresh air, that’s all.
— quickly puts on mask and cap —
I’ll be right back.
— quickly goes outside —
( Haa… Haa… what is happening…!? )
Agh… fuck!
( It hurts…! Could this be…—— )
— eyes widen —
( No… No, don’t tell me this is a real heart attack! )
Hnn… Ngh!
( What… what should I do now!? )
???: Quick! Please, drink this!!
— hands him water —
Ayato: Huh…?
— takes it and starts drinking —
???: A-Are you feeling better? I got another bottle in case you need it too.
Ayato: Haa… Haa… It’s okay now, all good.
???: Are you sure…? You really seemed in a lot of pain.
Ayato: Yeah… no worries.
( This girl… she just saved my life, didn’t she? )
By the way, uhm… thanks for that.
???: A-Ah, it’s nothing, really.
As far as I recall from my father, drinking water after alcohol can help reduce chest pain and lessen the severity of a hangover. I’m glad to see that it actually works.
Ayato: Heck yeah, I’m glad to see that it worked too, otherwise who knows how I would have ended up.
— the girl giggles —
???: You should be more careful though. Drinking too much alcohol can be very dangerous.
Ayato: ( Okay, mom. )
Yeah, yeah, I got it. I’m not usually like that.
Moreover… why exactly did you help me?
???: Eh? What do you mean?
Ayato: ( Could it be that she actually recognized me? )
( My face is practically hidden behind the mask and cap, and we’re in the dark, so there’s no way she could have, right? But if she did… )
???: Uuh… I suppose it was out of pure instinct.
Ayato: Instinct, huh?
???: Yup. You see, I heard you struggling, so there was no way I could brush that off.
Ayato: Hmm… But wait a minute, what were you doing all alone at this hour?
( What if she’s a stalker then? )
???: Ah… uhm… T-That’s a bit embarrassing to say out loud.
Ayato: Oh, come on, you straight up saw me about to drop dead from drinking Tequila. There’s no way this could be more embarrassing than that.
???: Actually… today’s my first day in Tokyo, and I’ve been struggling for almost 3 hours just trying to get to my Airbnb.
I tried taking the subway, but there were way too many lines, and I got lost at some point.
As for taxis, every time I tried to flag one down, the driver just ignored me.
Ayato: ( Nevermind, I’m taking it back. This might truly be more embarrassing. )
Pfft, why didn’t you call for a cab then?
???: I couldn’t find any reliable number…
Ayato: Hmm… Alright then.
I just arranged one for you. You’ll just have to tell them your location and wait for them to get you there. There’s also no need for you to pay.
— lends her money —
???: E-Eh!? Thank you… thank you so much! But I’m sorry, I just can’t accept the money!
Ayato: Nah, it’s fine, seriously. After all, you’re the one who helped me first.
Just promise me you won’t tell anyone about what happened today. Understood?
— the girl nods —
Ayato: Heh, great. Well, I guess it was nice to meet you. Now it’s time for me to return.
???: W-Wait! I forgot to catch your name!
Ayato: …!
( So she really doesn’t know me? )
It’s——
( No… it’s too risky. )
Oh look, the cab arrived! You should hurry up!
???: But—
( He left…? )
Yui’s monologue
As the taxi started moving, I found myself looking back, almost subconsciously, hoping to catch one last glimpse of that boy.
Today had been exhausting, but despite the strange circumstances in which we met, those brief minutes spent with him were oddly comforting.
I wonder who he is and what his life is like. It feels a bit silly, I know, to be thinking so much about someone whose name I don’t even know.
But there was something in his presence that made me feel in a way I haven’t felt in a long time.
Whatever it was, it stuck with me, lingering in my thoughts even after we parted ways.
My journey has only just begun, and yet I can’t shake the feeling that meeting him was no coincidence.
I really hope I get the chance to cross paths with him again.

008 with Xavier for Christmas prompts? 🥰
Whoaaaa this was actually my first ever solo request for Xavier? So thank you!!! Hope you've enjoyed the holidays, anon! 🥰
Xavier x Reader ⭐🎄☃️❄️
Prompt #008: lifting up a smaller frame to put on the finishing touch on the christmas tree: the tree topper ( a star, an angel, or something else! )
“Please be careful.”
You feel a gentle pair of hands at your waist as you balance on a stool, up on the tiptoes of one foot. You’re reaching, reaching… but you can’t quite get this stupid star on the tree, and Xavier thinks he’s helping, but he’s not. He’s an anchor, keeping you from achieving maximum reach. You just need to get a liiiiiitle further.
“It’s okay, Xavi, I got it. Sheesh, where’s this concern when I’m tackling Wanderers, huh?”
“I’m always concerned when you’re tackling Wanderers,” he frowns behind you— you can hear it. “Although, in a healthy, supportive way. Not a paranoid, lack-of-faith-in-you way.”
You chuckle to yourself. Stop reaching. “This feels like a lack of faith,” you say, patting his hands.
“Well, it’s healthy support.”
“Okay, okay. Can I get a healthy, supportive boost, please?”
He adjusts: moving closer to you, letting his hands circle lower. After a short countdown, he lifts you. There’s no huff of exertion. No tension. Show off. You still have to reach a little, but you manage to plonk the star on top of the tree.
“Happy?” Xavier asks, and there’s no strain in his voice, either.
“Happy. You may release me.”
With his own, quiet chuckle, Xavier sets you down beside the stool. You sigh and brush your hands together like you’ve just accomplished something difficult. It takes all of your Wanderer-tackling strength and poise to not giggle as you glance up at the tree topper.
Xavier looks up at it too. “Wait.” He narrows his eyes: inspection, not suspicion. “Is that… me?”
You couldn’t believe your luck when you found that star the other day, when you were out Christmas shopping with Tara. It’s pretty, shiny and golden— as all stars ought to be— but it’s also a photo frame. Maybe for pets? They’d used a picture of a cat on the box it came in, but you had a much, much better idea.
“Yeah…” you confirm. “I was tied, you know? Did I want an angel on top of the tree? Did I want a star? Then I thought—” you stretch, catching Xavier’s face in your hands— “why settle for one? Why not have both?”
His cheeks are being squished by your palms, but his eyes dart back to the tree topper. “Aww,” he says after a moment. “That’s cute.”
“You’re okay with it?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” His mouth is still pinched, and his voice? A mumble.
You let him go so you can gaze at the photo on top of the tree.
It’s not a flattering picture. You never thought you’d be able to say that, but you worked hard for it, so you can— it is not a flattering picture! It took you about a hundred ambushes with a camera. About a thousand, failed, flattering photos. His face stuns at literally every angle, and damn it, you now have proof! He’s blessed by gods you didn’t even know existed. He’s impossible. Insufferable.
But then you got that one photo.
… In Akso, when he was maybe sort of kinda unconscious, even bleeding a little, but it’s fine! He was fine, wasn’t he? One flash of your phone, one scathing look from dear Doctor Zayne, and you got it:
The one photo of Xavier where he doesn’t look like a model. At least… not for anything anyone would want.
“It’s… not the best picture,” you answer finally. You don’t know what else to say; you thought your masterpiece would speak for itself.
“I don’t know,” he muses. “I think I look handsome. Why? Don’t you?”
Blue eyes turn on you, wide like the baubles on the tree, and sparkling with just as many Christmas lights. You feel like you’ve kicked a puppy. “Well, yeah, of course,” you stammer, “but still, it isn’t—”
A flash.
You blink, stunned.
Xavier is smiling down at his phone, and realisation dawns on you. “Wait, did you just—”
He turns the phone around to show you the photo he just took of you, and suddenly ‘unflattering’ has a whole new face and meaning. Your eyes are closed. You’re mid-speech, but you look mid-sneeze. “For next year!” Xavier chirps sweetly.
“No, no, no, Xavier, you have to delete that. It’s Christmas! Come on, please, just—”
You grab at the phone but he’s way ahead of you, holding it up out of reach with an easy-going hum. He turns away— walks away— and you can’t see it, but as you nip at his heels, flailing and frantically begging, he smiles, triumphant.

“touching toes”
rafe cameron social media au
“he’s over more and more, had to give him a whole drawer. to be honest, kinda like seeing his trainers by the door.” — olivia dean, ‘touching toes’.
synopsis: after finishing her fashion studies at college in nyc, y/n moves to outerbanks to live with her grandparents. she worries about the loneliness that comes with being in a new place, knowing only her cousin topper and other relatives… that is until she is acquainted with a certain cameron.
part — 18 | 19 | 20
masterlist
later that evening, the two of you found yourselves sitting on the couch opposite the end of the bed. the air between you was still charged with the weight of your earlier conversation, but somehow it was lighter. rafe’s arm draped over the back of the sofa, fingers brushing against your shoulder absentmindedly. feeling a sense of comfort from this newfound understanding between you both, you leaned into him slightly.
the moment was shattered by the sound of the hotel door swinging open. sarah stormed in, her dress bag slung lazily over her shoulder and a pair of heels dangled from her fingers. her cheeks were flushed, her expression a mixture of anger and exhaustion.
“seriously, rafe?” she snapped at her brother, her voice remained sharp as she organised her things.
you froze, distance growing between you and rafe on the couch as he crossed his arms. he wasn’t surprised by her outburst, if anything he looked like he has been bracing for it.
“what now?” he questioned, keeping his tone cool.
pointing an accusatory finger at him, sarah spun around, “what now? are you serious, rafe? what now?” her eyes darted to you for a brief moment before returning to him, “that picture, on your story! the whole fucking world saw it!”
you swallowed hard, feeling your cheeks heat up. you hadn’t even looked at the aftermath, too afraid of what you’d find.
“so what?” rafe shot back, his nonchalance clearly irritating his sister, “it was a joke, sarah.”
she scoffed, “a joke? you posted a picture of her arse!”
sarah began pacing around the room, her hands pulling through her hair, “do you have any idea what you have done? people are going to dig. they’re going to speculate. and you’ve brought her into this… MESS!”
the weight of sarah’s words settled over the three of you, the room going quiet. rafe’s jaw tightened but before he could form a response, sarah let out a frustrated sigh and flopped onto the bed.
“i mean, seriously, rafe,” she muttered, palms covering her face, “could you not have just waited ‘til after my show?”
sarah knew there was nothing going on between you and her brother, you had told her that yourself. but she couldn’t help but feel anger over the stolen limelight; rafe’s post had sent her fandom into a frenzy, causing them to forget about her big day. you let out a sigh of relief, realising her anger wasn’t directed towards you.
you opened your mouth to say something, but sarah’s next words stopped you.
“because, oh… my…god! my rehearsal today was amazing!” she suddenly gushed, her voice abruptly taking on an excited, sing-song tone as she sat up.
“you should’ve seen it,” she continued, her earlier anger momentarily forgotten, “the lighting was perfect, the music was flawless and the models? oh, we killed it! i cannot wait for you to see it tomorrow!”
a smile crept onto your face, despite the tension. that was sarah for you — she couldn’t stay mad for long, not with something so exciting on her mind.
“you looked stunning on the photo you sent me,” you said softly, intending to steer the conversation further away from rafe’s post.
she beamed at you, “i just can’t believe this is really happening. i mean, loewe, really? i get to walk for loewe!”
rafe took the opportunity to chime in, his voice softer now, “i’m really proud of you, sar. you deserve this.”
her gaze flicked to him, her expression softening slightly, “thanks, rafe,” she said, though she didn’t let him off the hook entirely, “but don’t think this means i’ve forgotten about your post. we’ll continue that conversation later.”
rafe sighed, his hands up in mock surrender, “fine, later.”

that night, the hotel room was quiet except for the faint hi um of the air conditioning. rafe had retreated to his own room. you and sarah were sprawled out in the plush king-sized bed, the soft glow of the bedside lamp casting a warm light over the room. she was scrolling aimlessly on her phone, still buzzing from her rehearsals earlier that day, while you stared at the ceiling, attempting to gather your thoughts.
she let out a soft sigh, looking at you with an expectant look as she turned, “so,” she began, setting her phone on the nightstand. “are we going to talk about it, or are you just going to act like my brother didn’t post a picture of your arse?”
“i was hoping you’d forget about that,” you groaned, throwing your arm over your face and laughing, “and it was hardly my arse!”
sarah snorted. “forget about it? are you joking? i’ve been dying to bring it up all day… i need answers.” she shifted her face to you, propping her head on her arms, “so spill. tell me, what’s going on?”
“i already told you—”
“oh, come on,” sarah said, nudging you side, “i’m not that stupid, i’m not falling for the whole ‘it’s a joke’ act, you’ve got going on.”
you sighed in defeat, your stomach knotting as you tried to conjure up what to say next. “it’s… complicated,” you mumbled, your gaze stuck on the ceiling.

happy new years!! i’m so sorry cause i saw your post about how many asks you have, but i have to— new years kiss with dad!rafe?🙌
don’t you even worry nonnie i have 63 on my main 😭 hope u had a lovely new years !!! cw in tags.
whilst all your friends were out at the biggest party of the year, drinking ‘n having fun, you were stuck at home with rafe. you’d begged and pleaded with him to let you go, there was nothing wrong with wanting to let a little loose. but rafe wasn’t having it — not with how he knew how those parties got out of hand, and especially not with the kind of guys that’d be there. you’d been lucky to even convince him to let you stay up for the countdown.
“you really think ‘m stupid enough to let you out of my sight tonight?” he’d snapped earlier, forehead vein bulging and tone sharp enough to have you tearing up. you’d sulked off, sending off a message to the group chat about how you wouldn’t be able to make it after all.
hours later you’re in the living room, curled up in the corner of the couch, vaguely listening to the tv. you’re miserable. your phone hasn’t stopped buzzing with notifications from all your friends posting. you’d scroll through the stories and pictures, but the idea of that just makes your chest tighten with jealousy. instead, you toss the phone with a huff and burry your face in your knees.
rafe, who’s been sitting across from you, nursing a beer in his hands (because of course he wasn’t letting you drink either), notices and sighs. “still sulking?”you don’t answer, wrapping your arms around yourself as you sniffle. “what’d i say about that attitude, huh? already told you that y’don’t gotta go to any parties to have fun,” he places his beer on the coffee table, spreading his legs to get comfortable.
you frown and peek at him through your wet lashes. “doesn’t feel like fun,” you mumble. rafe rolls his eyes and pokes his cheek with his tongue. “up, c’mon. c’mere,” he replies gruffly, gesturing to his lap.
you hesitate, fiddling with your fingers. “i— i don’t know, dad..” rafe’s brows furrow as he takes you in, squinting at your disobedience. “that wasn’t a suggestion, baby. don’t make me get up.”
the warning in his tone sends shivers down your spine, and you slowly uncurl, glancing at him nervously. you don’t want him to yell at you again — not like he did earlier — so you slowly peel yourself off the couch and reluctantly shuffle over to him. “there’s m’girl,” he says smugly, tugging you down into his lap before you can protest again.
his arms loop around your waist, locking you in place as he adjusts you to straddle him, your knees sinking into the cushions either side his thighs. “did it t’protect you, sweetheart, ‘kay? i know you don’t like to think but dad does. and dad knows, uh, what happens to drunk little girls out in the middle of the night. what if someone had tried to take you, huh? tried t’take advantage of you. ‘m jus’ keepin’ you safe.”
you swallow hard when rafe squeezes your hips. he tilts your chin up, forcing you to meet his darkened eyes. you hear the countdown begin over the tv as you wipe your cheeks, the sound echoing, “ten .. nine .. eight ..”
“gotta start the new year off right, yeah? gonna show you how t’really have fun,” he whispers, hands soft against your face. you squirm when his fingers brush your mouth.
“four .. three .. two .. one ...”
and right as the fireworks explode across the sky, rafe’s surging forward, meeting your lips with his in a bruising, aching kiss. it’s rough and possessive and wet, his tongue forcing its way past the seam of your lips in a way that has you whimpering. he tastes like alcohol and something earthy, completely and utterly overwhelming. rafe’s hands tighten on your waist, pulling you flush against his chest until there’s not a single inch left between your bodies.
this kiss is messy, desperate, his teeth nipping your flesh and clashing with your own. your head spins as he devours you, making you so dizzy that you forget what you were so upset about in the first place. when he finally detaches from your puffy, tingly lips, strings of saliva still connecting you, you can barely breath, panting and gasping as you twitch in his lap.
“happy new year, baby,” rafe smirks huskily, giving you exactly two seconds before he’s capturing your lips again. maybe he was right after all; you didn’t need any parties, you just needed your dad.

warnings: one mention of sex. that’s it
in which… matt is absolutely whipped.
matt can walk into your house like he owns the place. your father adores him. your mother has more trust in him than she does in you. he even has his own key! it’s crazy to you how he got your parents trust so fast, but you don’t question it. even then, he still knocks. every. single. time.
it could be 8am. it could be noon. it could be late in the afternoon. it could even be the middle of the night. he always knocks.
this time was 5:30 pm. you’re the first to stand from your spot in the living room to get the door, beating out your mom and dad to do it. though you smile at the sight, you still groan when you see matt on the other side of the door. he’s holding your favorite flowers, the same way he does once a week, but this time he’s also holding your favorite chocolates as well. he’s dressed fancier than usual, a nice sweater and a nice pair of dress pants , all tied together by his glasses. “you do know that you have a key to this place right nerd?” you mumble, greeting him with a kiss. he shrugs as he shoves his hand in his pocket, whispering to you.
“are you busy?” your eyes furrow in response, looking over to your parents on the couch. “nope. why?” you whisper, setting the flowers in the vase you’ve kept by your door every week since matt started coming over. he smiles at you, tucking hair behind your ear.
“i’m takin you out. on a date. a real date. to somewhere nice. i even needed a reservation.” your dad overhears and sends him a thumbs up from his spot on the couch, making you giggle.
“y’picked a good one sweetie. he even came over the other day and asked for permission to take you.” he yells, making you blush. you cannot believe just how incredibly lucky you were.
“there’s also no way you’re going to this restaurant in sweatpants. go change. something nice.” he smiles, pressing a kiss to your cheek. you’re ready in record time. your parents parade you with pictures like it’s prom night. you’re giggling the entire time, and matt’s just completely and utterly star struck.
the drive to the dinner is calm. it’s peaceful. matt’s hand rests on your thigh and though he’s tempted to inch it further up, he’s respectful. there’s not a care in the world. nothing matters to matt other than you. nothing matters to you other than matt. every single care is gone, completely out the window. completely forgotten. but every time he looks at you, matt thinks he’s looking at an original Monet. if he could frame the moment, he would. he wants to shrink you down and keep you in a cage forever, just so that he can keep an eye on you the entire time. god, you were perfect.
the restaurant looks nice. it looks like just another steakhouse. the second you sit down, it is not just another steakhouse. you slam the menu down on the table, glaring at matt. “matt a single steak is one hundred and twenty five fucking dollars.” and in matt’s eyes, to deserved this in more. it doesn’t matter to him that he had to work 80 hours to afford it. it just matters that you’re happy.
matt smirks at you, shrugging. “i saved up my paychecks. my girl deserves something nice doesn’t she?” he whispers, adjusting his glasses on his face. you shake your head in disbelief, flipping through the pages for something decently affordable. his eyes widen when you speak. “you’re getting some tonight, kid.”

PICTURE YOU!
currently playing… ‘picture you’ by chappell roan.
pairing - wanda maximoff x fem!reader
warning! - 18+ mdni, smut, masturbation, dirty thoughts, confessions, oral (f receiving), fingering
a/n - is this pesbian lorn?🤭 anyways picture you has literally been stuck in my head because of chappell’s vocals in it. the song was on repeat whilst writing this. #womenlovewanda
you had become so infatuated with wanda your thoughts became so lustful. you were starting to lose it with how bad you needed her. you’d even resorted to touching yourself to accommodate your needs but not even that was enough anymore. imagining your fingers on your wet, dripping pussy as wanda’s wasn’t the same as having her actual hands on you.
so you had a routine which you followed almost every night which entailed…
drawing the blinds and lighting every candle.
slipping off your pretty dress down your chest whilst thinking of her.
both your lips on the mirror, envisioning wanda as your reflection.
it was ritualistic. you counted where all of wanda’s lipstick stains should be on your bare body.
you had started to run your fingers down your stomach and in between your thighs. you could already feel your soaking pussy throbbing and aching for it to be touched. you closed your eyes and slowly opened your legs to give your fingers entrance. a soft whimper escaped your lips as you felt your fingers brush lightly against your swollen clit. steadily, you rubbed your fingers in a cyclic pattern on and around your clit. you tried to be quiet as possible not wanting anyone outside to hear you. your legs stretched across the bed from the satisfaction you were feeling.
oh, you needed her around.
your other hand had started kneading at your breast, visualising it as wanda’s hand whilst she goes down on you and eats your pussy out like it was her last last meal. you began rocking your hips to your fingers, creating as much friction as possible. slowly, you started to dip your fingers into your cunt thrusting them in and out trying to chase your orgasm. you let out a muffled sigh as your fingers continued to pump and curl inside of you.
you were getting close now.
your hand continued to massage your breast and your fingers continued to thrust into you until you heard a knock at your door. you completely froze when wanda called out your name. shit, fuck, not right now, please. you thought to yourself. “um, i’m changing!” you called out with a squeak trying to recover from what was happening not even five seconds ago. you quickly wrapped a nightgown around yourself and hid your soaked, sticky fingers behind your back.
“come in,” you call out again, allowing her to enter. “hello,” she said with a smile and a little furrow in her eyebrow, “am i interrupting something?” she asked. “no, not at all. what’s up?” you answered —way too fast. “i wanted to talk to you, if that’s okay?” she questioned, her accent was audible and there was a hint of vulnerability behind her tone. of course that’s okay, i always want to talk to you wanda, but right now? whilst i was touching myself to thoughts of you? you said to yourself again. “of course,” you replied trying to ignore the fact that there was only a thin layer of silk to cover your naked body.
wanda moved to take a seat on the edge of your bed and you joined her, leaving a bit of a gap between you two. not even a second had gone by before wanda blurted out, “i like you.” no fucking way. your mind started to go crazy and your brain had just gone blank. “do you feel the same?” she continued.
“do you picture me like i picture you?”
“am i in the frame from your point of view?”
holy shit, this was all you could have ever wanted. wanda maximoff liking you back. you smirked at her and answered her questions with a slight chuckle, “i’m too scared to say half of the things i do when i picture you.” with that, she crashed her lips against yours, this wasn’t your reflection this was wanda. you slipped off your nightgown whilst helping wanda remove her clothes and locked lips every time there wasn’t anything between you both. she started to leave lipstick stains down your neck, inching her way towards your empty and pleading pussy. she carefully pushed you back onto the bed as she went down your body, leaving a red kiss mark trailing down your stomach. her lips landed on your core before she stuck out her tongue and started indulging in on you. “fuck, wanda!” you moan out, rushing your hands through her hair and gripping onto the back of her head. her hand clutched onto your waist and the other traced its way back onto your breast squeezing and working on it.
it wasn’t your fingers that would be the reason of your orgasm tonight but wanda’s tongue. you guided her head up and down all the right spots whilst your vision got hazy and your hips rolled against her head. “this is what you’ve been picturing, hm?” wanda’s voice muffled against your body sending vibrations through you. “one day, you’ll tell me all your perversions.” she stated, before going back in on you. you moaned again as you could feel your orgasm ready to over come you. “i’m getting close now,” you mumbled, arching your back. from hearing that, wanda lifted her head and lifted her hands back. you groaned from the lack of touch but immediately shut up when you felt wanda’s middle and ring finger sink and entwine into you. her other hand started rubbing your clit quickly, overstimulating you.
“come for me, my love.” wanda whispered and you let yourself go. your body spasmed through the rush of pleasure, your back could’ve snapped with the way you lifted up. as your high had finally calmed down, wanda sucked your juices off her fingers and laid back next to you. you shifted to look at her and huffed out a whisper.
“it’s my turn to taste you.” then, you moved down the bed to reach her thighs.

Unspoken Words pt 3
Master List
Characters: Jensen Ackles x Reader, Reader’s daughter, other characters
Warnings: fluff, mention of physical restraint, a little angst, child illness
A/N: Another collab story with @cheekygirl2309. This one is about a single mother with a nonverbal autistic daughter who loves Supernatural. The reader is going to a Supernatural Convention with her daughter and things unfold from there. The daughter character is near and dear to my heart. I have someone very close to me who is nonverbal, but he’s such an amazing kid.
This is a work of fiction and does not depict real life. Jensen is single in this story.
All work is my own and @cheekygirl2309, don’t take it or use it as your own. Reblogs and likes are appreciated.
Minors DNI 18+
Later that morning we got ready for the last day of the convention. Jensen ended up letting Lily keep his shirt because she refused to let it go. She wore it to the convention and was upset when I tried to take it.
Jensen knelt down, “Lily, do you like my shirt?” She smiled, but didn’t look at him. She gripped the shirt tighter. “Well, I tell ya what, you can keep it as long as I get to come visit you and it.” She smiled wider, “Jensen?” He chuckled, “Yeah, Jensen.” He kissed the top of her head and I stood smiling.
“I guess I have to keep coming around, visitation and all.” He smiled as he walked up to me. He placed a soft kiss on my lips before walking out to the stage. The handler with him softly gasped, looking between Jensen and I. We watched his panel from the back and Lily got a few more pictures with some of the cast. She clung to Jensen whenever he was around. He didn’t seem to mind, because he took her around to meet everyone like she was his. It made my heart swell. When it was time to leave Lily cried. Jensen held her tightly, “Hey, I promise I’ll see you tomorrow. Your mom is taking you to the park, and I’m gonna tag along.” She squealed, “Jensen play?” He nodded, “Yeah, I’m going to play.”
The end of the convention came faster than I wanted it to. Lily had an amazing time and it was the day of the first concert. Since I wouldn’t see Lily tonight I wanted to spend the day with her. I had already planned a trip to the park, and Jensen wanted to tag along. He wasn’t going to be able to stay all day with us since he had to go do his sound checks, but I was thankful he was coming even for a little bit.
Annie, Mrs. Jones was keeping Lily tonight, and I wanted to make sure Lily was calm and ready. So taking her to the park and having a picnic always seemed to calm her.
Jensen met us at the park and as soon as Lily saw Jensen she ran to him. ‘Mama, Jensen!” She threw her arms around him and grabbed my hand. “Hey Lily, hey sweetheart.” He leaned in and placed a kiss on my lips and one on the top of her head.
Lily giggled and ran towards the swings. “Well I guess we better go after her.” He said taking my hand in his. I looked down at my hand in his and then back to him. “Is this okay?” He asked softly. I nodded with a smile, “More than okay, Jensen. It’s perfect.”
We went to the swings and Jensen pushed Lily. Her legs swinging wildly and her giggles filling the air. I had never seen her react to anyone like she had with him. She was a totally different child with him around and it made my heart happy, but I was scared too.
What if whatever this is between Jensen and I didn’t work out. Was this just something to pass the time, or was this going to develop into something more.
I’d see the women he had dated, and I definitely didn’t look like them. Hell, I have extra weight all over, I like to eat and I’m not what most would consider gorgeous. Somehow he sees past all that and thinks I’m beautiful.
Jensen has a way of making me feel seen, wanted and desired. It scared the hell out of me. The last man that made me feel like that knocked me up and left me.
Now with Lily, I had to be extra careful who I let in our lives. She loved Jensen, I could already tell he was quickly becoming one of her people. I knew he and I had to have a conversation, but I wasn’t exactly sure how to approach it.
A little while later Lily was getting hungry, so I grabbed the blanket and basket and walked back to Lily and Jensen. They were running around playing tag and I set up the food.
Lily ran to me and sat down between Jensen and I. “Mama, eat. Please.” “Wow, she’s talking more and more. Jensen, this is incredible.” He placed his hand on mine, “Yeah it is.”
I handed Lily her food and picked at mine. Jensen was eating, then noticed I wasn’t. “Hey, you okay?” “Um, yeah. Just thinking about this, well, us.”
“Well, I’m all ears. What’s on your mind?”
“I just want to know where this is going. If it’s just a way to pass the time, I get it, but I can’t do that to Lily. If it’s something more I just need to know. I like you Jensen, I really do. I just can’t make decisions for myself anymore, Lily’s well being is my priority. Besides, you’re Jensen Ackles, and I’m well, me.”
Jensen sat his food down and cupped my face, “Y/N, I don’t want this to be just a way to pass the time. I want you, I want to be in Lily’s life. The other night when we kissed I felt something I hadn’t in a really long time. Being with you and Lily feels comfortable, like home. I know we have things we have to figure out, but I want to figure it out together.”
He leaned forward and kissed me. Soft at first and then his hands slipped in my hair and he deepened the kiss.
Jensen’s phone went off signaling it was time for him to leave. My heart sank. “Guess I need to go. I’ll see you later, sweetheart.” “Yeah, I’ll see you tonight. I can’t wait to see rockstar Jensen in action. He laughed, kissed me quickly and hugged Lily goodbye, then left.
A little while later Lily and I left to head home. I gave her a bath, got her packed and I took her to Annie. I kissed her goodbye and left to head home.
Walking in the house it was quiet. I jumped in the shower and got ready for the concert. I snapped a picture and sent it to Jensen.
Me: Almost ready. Can’t wait to see you. *1 image attached*
Jensen: Damn, sweetheart. You look incredible. I can’t wait to see you. Just a heads up, my parents are going to be there.
I swallowed hard. Did he want me to meet them? Should I say hello? Maybe he was telling me that because he was planning on keeping his distance. I took a deep breath, deciding to just let whatever unfold.
Me: That’s great they still come and support the things you do. I bet your mom is going to take a lot of pictures too.
Jensen: Oh I know she is. She’s always taking pictures of me.
Me: That’s what moms do. Let her be proud of her baby. She earned it.
Jensen 😀 yeah, she’s a great mom. Just like you. 😙
Me: 😊 thank you. See you soon.
Jensen: Be careful.
Sarah came and picked me up and we headed to the venue. The space was intimate, but I could feel the electricity in the air. I overheard a few people talking about Jensen’s parents being there, but I couldn’t figure out who they were talking about. I’d seen pictures of his parents, but that was years ago. I was sure they had changed some since the pictures.
I was standing near the bar with Sarah when I felt my phone buzz.
Jensen: Hey baby. You look amazing. We’re about to go on, I’ll see you after the concert.
Me: I can’t wait. Break a leg, Jens. 😘
Sarah and I walked towards the stage and got pretty close. I was so excited and nervous as hell. The lights went down and the stage lights went on, the crowd roared.
Jensen and Steve took the stage with the rest of the band. Steve started talking, thanking everyone for being there. He and Jensen bantered back and forth and then started singing.
Jensen’s voice was smooth like whiskey. The crowd around me disappeared as I focused on him. He saw me, smiled and winked. I of course blushed. As I turned to talk to Sarah I saw Jensen’s mom off to the other side of the stage, taking pictures and videos. A smile spread across my face.
I took a picture of her and sent it to Jensen.
Me: *1 image sent* Now this is the face of an incredibly proud mother. ♥️
The concert was incredible and before I knew it Sarah and I were being ushered backstage.
We were shown to a room and before the door opened I heard Jensen’s voice. The man walking us back opened the door and Jensen saw me as soon as the door opened.
He jumped up, walked up to us and kissed me. Taking me by surprise. When we pulled apart everyone was staring. Jensen smirked, “Guess the cats out of the bag, guys, this is Y/N and her friend Sarah, Y/N, Sarah, this is everyone.” I nodded, blushed and said hello.
Steve immediately jumped up and pulled me into a hug, “So this is the woman who has captured this guy’s heart. I’ve heard so much about you and your daughter, Lily.” I hugged him back and looked over at Jensen who was smiling and blushing a little.
After Steve chatted with me for a bit, his attention turned to Sarah. The two of them sat on the couch talking while Jensen and I talked to some of the other band members. We talked to Angela and Sheree and they gushed over Lily’s pictures. Especially the ones with Jensen.
I told Jensen I needed to use the restroom, so he told me where it was. I stood and walked out of the room and down the hallway. As I got to the bathroom I noticed a man standing by the men’s room door.
I thought it was strange since the bar was closed, but I assumed he worked there.
I went into the bathroom and came out a few minutes later. The man was still standing there, and I made eye contact with him. “Hey sweetheart, what’s got you here so late?” “Oh, I’m just here with my boyfriend. He’s in the band.”
My heart hammered in my chest. I looked back towards the door, hoping someone would come out but I didn’t see anyone.
He stepped closer to me and I could smell the alcohol on him. “If you were my girlfriend I wouldn’t let a pretty thing like you out of my sight. Especially in a bar. Lots of bad things can happen.” As he said that he stepped closer, caging me between the wall and his arms.
“I really should get back. I’m sure he’s ready to leave.” I was terrified and didn’t know if I should scream or what to do. I stood frozen.
He grabbed my face, forcing me to look at him and he leaned in closer. Tears started to fall from my face. His hot breath blowing over my face and all I could think about was Jensen’s smile and how I wanted him to be here.
I tried to turn my face away, but he held it in place. The pain of his fingers gripping my face was becoming overwhelming.
He leaned closer and as he was about to kiss me the door to the room swung open. Jensen stepped out, looked up and saw me.
“Y/N!” I swear he flew down the hall. Within a second the man was pinned to the other wall and Sarah had me wrapped in her arms. I crumbled to the ground crying.
The bouncers of the bar grabbed the man and took him out, Jensen was by my side.
“Y/N, are you hurt? Oh baby. I’m so sorry. I should have gone with you. Shhh, you’re safe now. I’ve got you.” He held me tight. My fear started to melt away. I wrapped myself into his arms and held onto his shirt tightly.
He helped me up and we walked outside. Sarah walked out with our stuff, “Jensen, I think I should get her home. She’ll be okay. I won’t leave her alone tonight.”
He nodded, but didn’t let go. I wouldn’t let go either. “Sweetheart, let Sarah take you home. I’m gonna grab my stuff and I’ll be over, okay.” I nodded. Sarah helped me to the car, Jensen was loading his stuff as we pulled off.
Sarah held my hand the whole way to the house. “Y/N, I am so sorry. I should have gone with you. Are you okay?” I just nodded. “Sarah, it’s not your fault. We had no way of knowing what was going to happen. I’m okay.”
She just nodded. I knew she still blamed herself.
We pulled up at the house and we went inside. About 5 minutes later Jensen pulled up. I went to take a shower while Jensen and Sarah stayed in the living room.
“Sarah, is she okay? He didn’t do anything to her did he?” “She’s okay. No. I think he just grabbed her and tried to kiss her. We got to her in time.” He just nodded. His jaw tightened with rage, but his focus was me.
I heard their muffled voices, but couldn’t hear what they were saying. I knew they both blamed themselves.
I stood under the hot water, trying to clean the feeling of his hands off me. Nothing was washing away the memory. I cried and couldn’t stop crying. I slid down the wall and cried.
I felt like I failed Jensen by letting another man get that close to touch me. Me going to the bathroom alone was a stupid move. If Sarah had to go I would have gone with her.
Jensen and Sarah were sitting in the living room drinking and talking. Jensen’s leg nervously shook. He looked at his watch and realized I had been in the bathroom awhile.
Sarah noticed too. She placed her hand on his leg, “Hey, I’ll go check on her, okay?” He nodded, “Thanks, Sarah.”
She got up and walked to the bathroom, “Hey sweetie, are you okay in there?” I couldn’t answer. “Y/N, I’m coming in.” She pushed open the door and walked over, finding me crying. Reaching and turning off the water she grabbed a towel, “Oh sweetie.” She wrapped the towel around me and called for Jensen.
Jensen jumped up and ran to the bathroom. He saw me in tears and Sarah holding me. I looked at her and then at him. My voice barely a whisper, “I’m so sorry, Jensen.” He looked at me and then Sarah, “Sweetheart, you don’t have anything to be sorry for. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
They helped me to my room and Sarah grabbed me some clean clothes. Jensen sat on the bed holding me. I leaned into him, taking in his warmth and his scent.
“Sweetheart, I’m going to step out and let you change. I’ll be right back.” I nodded, but really didn’t want him to leave. Jensen stepped in the hallway with Sarah and I changed.
I opened the door and went straight into Jensen’s arms again. His arms pulled me in tight and held me. Sarah touched my arm, “sweetie, I’m going to the guest room if you need me. Jensen’s going to stay in here with you tonight, okay?” I looked at her and then at Jensen and nodded.
Jensen and I walked into my room, he pulled the blanket back and we crawled into bed. He snaked his arm around me and pulled me flush to his chest. He placed a soft kiss on the top of my head. “I’ve got you sweetheart. You’re safe. You’ll always be safe with me.”
Sleep quickly took over as I laid in Jensen’s arms.
*Slight time jump to the 2nd concert*
The night of the 2nd concert I was more aware of the surroundings. Jensen had Sarah and I close to the stage and would keep an eye on us. He had a bouncer near us the whole night.
The air conditioning in the building went out so it was extra hot in the building. Jensen was sweating but good lord did he look hot. I was completely mesmerized by him.
I felt my body responding to him, and it excited and terrified me. Last night when he held me, everything felt perfect. I was starting to fall for him fast.
The crowd was even more wild tonight and the way he looked, standing under the hot lights, hair damp from the sweat and his body glistening from the sweat trickling down his neck made my heart beat fast.
The fan on the stage blew his hair back and when he ran his fingers through his hair I felt my knees go weak. I bit my lip to stifle the moan leaving my mouth.
Sarah smirked and leaned over “He’s hot isn’t he.” I looked at her and smiled. I nodded yes. Jensen looked over at me and smiled and blew a kiss. I blushed. Sarah laughed, “That man has it bad for you.” I leaned over, “Yeah, I’ve got it bad for him too.”
Jensen and I looked at each other again and I could see the jolt of energy run through him. He bounced on his feet and danced around the stage. It was amazing watching him.
By the end of the night I was hot, sweaty and exhausted. Jensen kissed me good night. Our lips and hands lingered a bit longer than before. “I’ll call you tomorrow sweetheart, let me know when you have Lily. Maybe we can grab some lunch or I can come over.”
I nodded, “Okay. Good night, Jensen.” “Good night, darlin’.” He kissed me again and I got in the car. I sighed softly and Sarah smiled. “Y/N, I’m really happy for you. You deserve this. He’s a really great guy, and Steve isn’t half bad either.”
“Wait, what?” She smiled, “Yeah, we hit it off last night and exchanged numbers. We have a date Saturday night.” “Oh, Sarah. I’m so happy for you.” “Thanks, I would have never met him if it wasn’t for you. So, thank you.”
Sarah dropped me off and went home. I sent Jensen a text.
Me: Hey. Just wanted to let you know I got home safely, and did you know Sarah and Steve have a date?
Jensen: Glad you made it home safely. I just got home myself. Yeah. He just told me. He’s a great guy. I promise.
Me: He better be or I’ll have to beat him up.
Jensen: I bet you would too. I’m heading to the shower. I’ll see you and Lily later.
Me: Thanks for the image. 😉 I can’t wait to see you later. Lily is going to be so excited.
Jensen: You’re welcome darlin’, now get some sleep. Good night.
Me: Good night, Jensen.
I jumped in the shower and let my mind drift to the events of the past few days. Going to the convention and everything that’s happened has been a dream come true.
Jensen has been incredible and above everything Lily talking has been the greatest thing I could have ever asked for.
The next morning after I got ready I went to pick up Lily. She was excited to see me, but didn’t talk much. Annie said she did great, but she noticed Lily being a bit more reserved last night. “The first night she talked more, last night she seemed a bit off. I’m not sure if it was her missing you or missing someone else.”
I thanked her and took Lily home. She still had Jensen’s shirt around her and her stuffies he bought her. She wandered around the house looking for something.
“Lily, honey, are you okay?’’ She just kept walking around. Lily searched every room and when she came back to the living room she was upset.
“Lily, what are you looking for?” She just grunted. I reached for her and she felt hot. My first thought was the shirt so I tried to take it off of her.
She cried, “Okay baby you can keep it on. Are you looking for Jensen, honey?” Her big beautiful eyes flicked to mine, for the first time in a long time she made eye contact with me. “Jensen?”
“He’s at home baby, he’ll be by later.” She started to cry. My heart ached for her, “Baby, he had a late night. He said he’s coming by later to spend the afternoon with us.”
When I placed my hand on her face she was burning up. I grabbed the thermometer and she had a fever of 104.2, I grabbed her and my stuff and we headed to the hospital.
I tried to call Sarah, but it went right to voicemail. I panicked. I called the only other person I could think of, Jensen.
His groggy voice answered, “Hey sweetheart. Good morning.” “Jensen, I’m so sorry to wake you up, but it’s Lily.”
He sat straight up in bed, “What’s wrong?” I could hear his panic too, even though he was trying to stay calm.
“I’m heading to the hospital. Her temperature is over 104. I’m so scared.” “I’m on my way baby.”
He grabbed his clothes and bolted out the door, speeding towards the hospital. When he arrived at the emergency department he saw me and ran up to me, taking me and Lily in his arms.
She clung to him and cried. “Shh, I’m here baby girl. We’re going to get you better.”
The nurse called us back and they started hooking her up to the machines. Tears streamed down my face. The doctor did his examination and ordered some tests.
Jensen and I sat with Lily, he was holding her in his arms, and holding my hand. I had my other hand on her. She had finally drifted off to sleep in his arms after the medication they gave her to bring her fever down some.
The doctor came back a few hours later and told us all the tests came back normal. He wasn’t sure why her fever was so high but they wanted to keep her in the hospital for a few days just to be sure. We thanked him and he left.
We waited for them to transfer her to the pediatric floor. I sat and cried. Jensen held me, “It’s okay baby. She’s going to be fine. She’s in the best place she can be right now.”
“I know, I’m just scared. This is so hard.” He kissed my forehead, “I know baby. I messaged Steve and he and Sarah are bringing some food. You need to eat to keep up your strength. I’m going to run by your house and get some things for you, then run by mine. I’ll be back by the time she’s moved.”
“Jensen, you don’t have to come back, I know you’re busy.” “I want to come back, I’m not leaving you alone in this. You two mean too much to me.”
I nodded, he kissed me and then kissed Lily’s head. “I’ll be back, sweetheart.”
I sat holding my baby girl and thinking about the man who just walked out of the room. I couldn’t believe how incredibly lucky the two of us were to be loved by him. He didn’t have to say it, but I knew, because I felt the same way. I was falling deeper in love with him too.

loooove the way you wrote pissed lu, i remember reading something from his old roommate (?) where he said he never saw him anything but calm so i couldn’t picture it until i saw your reply to the request!! would love to see more of him trying to keep himself calm or how he would react to pissed reader <3
thank you sm!! I remember seeing his old roommate say that! it was very difficult for me to write because I don’t picture him as an angry person, so it was a good challenge! I’m so glad you loved it <3
this little piece is inspired by your request to see how the reader acts when she’s pissed and how lu deals with it. it’s also inspired by Taylor Swift’s song “all too well”. (if u guys get the references hehe). plus I deal with anxiety so this is soooo me lmao.
you and Luigi had flown from Hawaii to Pennsylvania to have a reunion dinner with his fraternity brothers. all of his closest college friends would be there with their significant others. you were so excited to finally meet some of his best college friends, you knew how much they meant to him.
as excited as you were, you were just as nervous. you struggled with social anxiety and meeting new people in large groups, something that luigi didn’t have trouble with at all. sometimes it felt isolating to have a partner who was very social and flourished in large groups. but anyway you did it for him, you just needed to relax and put on a happy face for him.
the dinner was going well as the boys reminisced, and the girlfriends made small talk. explaining their new job titles, talking about post-collegiate bliss, and looking back on their lives at penn.
quickly coming to the realization that you were the only one who didn’t go to an Ivy League school. you just studied English literature in Montreal, nothing special. all of these successful twenty somethings, long history of accomplishments, and you’re just… you. your eyes dotting back and forth at everyone at the table, just realizing how beautiful and blonde all these women are. did lu go to school with them too? my god, you felt so small and insecure with these anxiety-ridden thoughts flying through your mind. the smell of food began to be too much, your hair was sticking sweaty to your neckline, and your leg started bouncing to help calm yourself. you knew that these thoughts were untrue and were created in your mind, but your heart couldn’t stop racing. you didn’t feel good enough, to be by his side.
Luigi has always been a practical person, but he understood you struggled with anxiety and being in unfamiliar situations. He has never truly been in your shoes, but he tries his best to help out in anxiety-ridden situations, by grounding you or repeating your mantras.
Since he was used to comforting you in these situations, you quietly tried to grab his hand while he was talking to his ex-roommate to his left. you grab his hand, placing it on the table and intertwining your fingers. this is typically what you guys do to ground yourself in public, it’s a simple and sweet gesture.
as quickly as you grab his hand, it’s gone. he gives you a side eye, drops your hand, and continues his conversation like nothing happened. he dismisses you, in a way he hasn’t before. the act is cold and shocks you to no end. you then excuse yourself to the bathroom to calm down. while pacing back and forth in the ladies' room, you begin to have even more thoughts about what just occurred. why can’t he be affectionate in front of his friends? do I embarrass him? do you think they’re noticing how long I’ve been gone? taking some deep breaths, you walk back to the table.
…
“why have you been ignoring me the whole way back to the hotel?” luigi confronted you as soon as the door unlocked.
you scoffed, your anxiety and upset eyes had turned into anger. you felt embarrassed and angry that you even felt anxious and that you couldn’t be as socially acceptable as your partner.
“it’s nothing, I just want to go to bed, I’m tired,” you whispered. but luigi was having none of that,
“baby, you’re the one who said we should communicate better. what’s wrong? everyone was so happy to meet you tonight.” he pleaded with you.
“you dropped my hand.” you plainly stated, as luigi looked at you dumbfounded and confused.
his mouth agape, truly questioning what you meant by that.
“you dropped my fucking hand, what am I supposed to do with that?” you raised your voice, noticing the anger take over.
“I didn’t even fucking notice, what are you even talking about?” luigi matched your tone.
“I don’t even know any of these people. They’re all strangers, they’re all older than me, I feel so out of place! you know how bad my anxiety gets!” rushing to explain your anger but it just makes you feel worse.
luigi rolls his eyes, “I was catching up with my friends! you’re literally saying I dropped your hand. like what does that even mean? I don’t even remember the moment. god forbid I don’t pay attention to you for two seconds!” his tone and aggression shocked you. the last sentence is what made you go quiet. your face dropped, and you silently walk into the bathroom to take your makeup off.
lu regrets what it said as soon as it left his mouth. this is why he doesn’t like to be angry in front of you, regrettable things are said. he genuinely wants to help you during times of stress, but he doesn’t fully understand what goes on in your brain. he couldn’t tell that you were so upset over a small gesture.
as you leave the bathroom, getting ready for bed, you sigh, feeling a bit silly about overreacting. your feelings were valid, but the aftermath of a sudden argument makes you feel dizzy. you know that deep down he cares for you, but occasionally he doesn’t fully understand the extent of your anxieties. luigi was already falling asleep, so you lightly got into bed, not wanting to wake him.
the bed shifts as luigi turns over to face you, putting his hand on your waist. “this okay baby?”. you sighed and nodded yes.
rubbing his hands across your waist and your stomach, he begins to apologize, “I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable or scared. I try to pick up on signals, but I can’t always read you that well. I’ll always be there to hold your hand,”
you hummed and placed your arm on his bicep, moments like these remind you why you love him so much. even during overwhelming situations, or not entirely understanding your reasoning, he still comes around, eventually.
“I love you, lu. I just get so overwhelmed and sometimes frazzled, sometimes my mind is like a car alarm that goes off for no reason, if that makes sense,” you explain, giggling. your laughs due to how silly it sounds out loud, but it’s true.
he smiles softly, trying to make sense of your analogy. “I see what you’re saying. sometimes I feel like a car that has no engine, I just shut off completely.” says jokingly, trying to make you smile.
you giggle, nudging your head into his chest, with his warmth enveloping you. “I think we both need to communicate more, amore,” he says softly, you know he’s joking, but there’s the truth behind it.
you felt him pull you closer, “I love you forever, my love. now get some rest” he softly says and presses a kiss on your forehead.
as you fall into a deep slumber, you feel so loved and appreciated by lu.

The Midnight Kiss
Warning: blink and you have a giant doc worthy of flashbacks but moving the story forward is a hassle to you, huh? this is a self critique. I guess in the end we do write what we want to read, there's no escaping our kinks.
Enjoy. Comments are welcomed and cherished :)
Part 9: 500 days of Azriel - part 2
DAY 348
“Hold for me!”
The feminine pitch echoed in the parking lot, bags fumbling against her ribs and sneakers thumping in concrete as she ran for the elevator, Azriel using a hand to keep the door open.
“Good morning, sexy.” A slightly out of breath Elain greeted him coming into view, a messy braid swaying from one shoulder to the other.
“That’s no way no greet your boss.” He stepped aside, allowing her to enter. “Don’t mimic me.”
“I wasn’t gonna,” Elain denied mid eye-roll, mouth already twisting to repeat his words. “I wasn’t! Gosh, you’re stiff from sunrise to sundown, and not in the fun way.”
Ignoring her blunt lie Azriel took the heavy black bag containing a heavy camera support from her shoulders and pressed their floor number.
“You chatter from sunrise to sundown, and don't see me complaining.”
Her braid slapped him in the chest, Elain turning to look at a him, mouth hanging open as if she could not believe her ears.
“Are you freaking kidding me!?! Of course, you do! You complain about it all. the. time!”
“Nah, that doesn’t sound like a me thing.”
“Unbelievable. Hold this.” she muttered pulling the light orange scrunchie from the end of her braid, nimble fingers combing through her hair to undo the thing. Azriel slipped the accessory in his wrist, watching she bang her head from one side to the other.
“Are you trying to get messier?”
“I’m giving it a sexy spin. You wouldn’t know nothing about that miss my-mommy-combs-my-hair-every-morning.”
A couple more shakes and she was done, picking her phone from the back pocket of her jeans and opening the camera app, moving her neck this way and that to check herself.
“Say My girlfriend is the sexiest in the whole world!”
Azriel frowned at the blinding flash lights coming out of nowhere.
“A little warning.”
“I like organic moments. And you never come out looking ugly anyways. Is infuriating.” She moved closer to him, opening her phone gallery and proceeding to show him the picture.
Azriel barely paid attention to himself, eyes fixed entirely on Elain, mapping the constellation of freckles framing the bridge of her nose and puffed cheeks pushed upwards by a big smile. Then her finger was swiping on the screen, showing him three more photos she managed to snap in succession
"Look at my lazy eye! Christ, even glaring you look good. Never managed to catch up with an open mouth, eyes rolling, sneezing, poking your nose, nothing! It’s like you are prepared every goddamn time.”
He chuckled at her indignation.
“Why do you take so many pictures?”
Elain shrugged.
“I like documenting stuff. Stuff that catch my attention.”
“Everything catches your attention. You have the attention span of a hyperactive toddler.”
“Oh, shut it. I bet you have some weird photos in your phone, you probably collect feet or something. Where is it?”
A sneaky hand quickly found its way to his front pocket, Elain made sure her eyes were wild open to taunt him. "My, my, is this phone in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"
She didn’t wait for him to answer, taking the phone out with a false victory cry.
“What’s your password? No! Let me guess…. 0828?”
Her question caught him by surprise.
“You remember my birthday?”
“Sure! How could I forget you’re a tight little virgin?” Elain pumped her eyebrows up and down, getting an eye roll as response. “Wait a minute,”
“Here we go.”
Azriel stepped out from the elevator making away to the rented shoot set, not bothering to check if Elain was following. He knew she was. She would never pass an opportunity to tell him whatever nonsense she had come up with.
“Now that I think about it… does that mean I get to pop your cherry?” She gasped exaggeratedly, placing a hand in her heart. “Do not worry Marino, I’ll do right by you, I’ll give –”
“All right now, let’s not. 1234. The password is 1234.”
Elain typed the password clicking her tongue, a fake expression of disappointment fixed in place.
“Christ, you’re a grandpa. This is a terrible password, too easy to remember.”
“That’s why I put it.”
“That’s why is bad.”
She went on and on about him being an old guy who was not deserving of technology, Azriel not really paying her much attention until she squealed like a guttered bunny.
“Oh my god,”
Elain exited the gallery and return dozens of times, thinking his phone may had malfunctioned or something. Nope, the phone was working just fine. She waved it in his face.
“Why are there no pictures in here?”
“There are.” Azriel said nonchalantly, jerking his chin at the few images appearing in his gallery.
All impersonal and irrelevant, mostly pictures exchanged throughout the day in Marinos’ group chat. Elain shook her head in denial.
“I mean personal pictures, pictures of things you captured with your camera because you liked them, not because they are in a vision board from next month’s issue.”
Azriel frowned in confusion
“Why would I take pictures? I can just look at the things I want.”
Elain let out a dramatic gasp, hand to heart and everything. Before she could berate him a chirpy blonde fellow approached them.
“Morning boss. Morning El. What me to set you up?”
“Morning Tommy. You can take the bag from the handsome.”
Nonchalant, Azriel dropped the bag in the boys arms not bothering to make the transition easy, Elain’s assistant for the day nearly collapsing under the weight. Azriel watched the new intern struggling not to drag the bag away.
“I don’t like him.” He said serious. Not an ounce of strength in those arms. He would not last.
"You don't like anyone."
Morning El.
"I specially don't like him."
“Are you a serial killer?”
“Don’t be ridiculous.”
"This is not normal."
His phone was pushed on his chest and then Elain was back on her phone, frantically swiping her fingers across hundreds of pictures gleaming in the bright screen. Literally hundreds. She gave him the phone and Azriel kept scrolling. Different shoots of ice cream, juice, pizza, donuts, pasta and other food related items passed by.
“Are you setting a portfolio for a culinary magazine?” he joked.
Elain slapped him in the arm, the aggression changing to a caress when her fingers splayed over his shirt, curling around his covered biceps.
“God, you’re big. Strong too.”
“Open space. Office hours.” He chanted, not bothering to remove her hand. Once could say he flexed a little, but Azriel would firmly deny.
“I know. What were we talking about?”
“Food.”
“Yeah, food… I could eat you up.” She sighted lost in a dream.
“Elain.”
“I said food gives me joy.”
Azriel rolled his eyes. Judging by her phone gallery, everything gave her joy. Parcs, dogs, kids, houses, rain, trains, books, fresh laundry. Eventually, his employees began to fill the screen as well, goofing in their spare time, posing in the allocated sets with some model, posing with props, taking mirror selfies, cataloging material in their reunions, then it came him. Azriel clicked on a couple pictures of him taken recently, face serious and sleeves rolled upwards as he examined a variety of reports covering the meeting room table. He turned to Elain, questioning her with a look
"You look good when you are focused." She shrugged. “By the way, you don’t have to make the intern cry. I know you don’t believe it, but it is possible to treat people nicely and not die on the spot.”
Azriel sighed deeply. Never a single topic with this one. Elain’s mind had a tendency of jumping from one subject to the other, the conversation never floating in a single direction.
“I’m not running a daycare, Archeron. I’m their boss.”
“I know that. I still think you can be less of an asshole,” suddenly, she pointed a finger at him saying, “and praise! Everyone likes a little praising every once in a while. You never praise anyone! It’s absurd.”
“When one of them do something worthy of my praise, they’ll receive it.” A bit of silence passed, and Azriel could feel Elain starring a hole at his face. “What?”
“It’s that your kink? Making someone working hard for your praise?”
The more his ears turned red, the playful glint in her eyes shining brighter. Where Azriel wasn’t one to make jokes or sexual innuendos in public, Elain used them as a second language, not ashamed to shoot her shot any time. At first he thought he hated her jokes, annoyed at how inconvenient she was. Later, Azriel realized his annoyance came from the fact that he was not able to quip her with a response, a fitting rebuke only coming to mind when it was already too late.
“Do you like receiving it or giving it? No matter, I guarantee I can satisfy you either way.”
“Nope. I’m done talking with you now,” he announced walking away from her. “I have real work to do.”
“I work too you know! I make the stars in this set shine!” She yelled after him. “Have a good day, lover!”
DAY 424
“All I’m saying is you can tell me. I’m your brother, for fucks sake.” Cassian whined loudly from his chair, legs shaking like a goddamn toddler.
“I’m not talking to you.” Azriel said from behind is computer.
“Come on, bro. All I’m asking is a little bit of gossip from how are things progressing with our sweet little Lainy. For example, has she taken your virginity yet?”
"She's not yours anything." Aziel said monotonously, not bothering to give his brother too much attention. “And I am not a virgin.”
“Men don’t count.”
“Fuck off.”
“Don’t worry, I’m sure our Lainy won’t –”
“Not yours.”
"Agree to disagree. Since you decided playing this fake dating shit, she sure ought to be my something." Cassian taunted. “Come on Az, I know you are not dating her. You can come clean now, I won’t judge. Much.”
Azriel watched his brother, his restless hand tapping against the armrest, the smirk that didn’t quite meet the eye. His brow furrowed.
Azriel and Cassian had a complicated relationship in boyhood, having to relearn how to navigate around each other once they were adults. The boys weren't in speaking terms for two years of their late teens and the majority of their twenties. When they were seen together at last, everyone assumed the brothers made piece to take over the family business because it was the natural outcome for them.
In reality the biggest reason behind Azriel’s return to America was Marinos wasn’t as profitable as before. While Azriel followed Morrigan across the globe her modeling career took flight but his grandfather got sick, and Cassian –who had always been the favorite for choosing to learn the finance trade– took over the family publishing business, only then discovering the trojan horse his favorite relative had left him. Their grandfather’s entire publishing business was facing bankruptcy, the magazine being one of the remaining divisions that still hadn’t gone under.
By the time he asked for Azriel's help, it was too late to save most of the branches, but Azriel did his utter best to save Marinos –a fashion magazine originally envisioned by his mother that no one ever really cared about. It cost him four years of strenuous hard work, twenty percent of the shares sold, multiple department changes, function extinctions and staff rearrangements, and the woman he thought it was the love of his life gone, but Azriel got Marinos back to its feet.
Azriel watched his brother, the nasty memory of their split replaying in his mind. It would be a lie for him to say pettiness wasn't what guide him to drop himself -almost- on top of Elain Archeron on that night. The woman had a massive crush on Cass, and knowing his brother's ego as he did, Cass was probably nursing said crush to act on it. That night Azriel’s drunken mind conjured a reality where if he was lucky, he would make his brother a little jealous, just enough to give him a bit of satisfaction. A petty payback for succeeding in doing what Azriel never could.
“You are awfully interested in my girlfriend.”
“Am I?”
Seeing his brother show such blunt display of interest in Elain gave Azriel a couple emotions, and satisfaction was none of them. It doomed on his mind that he had become attached to Elain rather quickly, because playing petty games Morrigan and his brother didn’t seem so interesting anymore.
An uncomfortable silence settled between them, Cassian sneer daring him to submit, to speak first, to cry and beg and plead for his brother to leave him alone as he would do when they were kids. Azriel wasn’t a kid anymore.
Cassian opened his mouth, and Azriel would never hear what he was about to say. Two knocks on the wood and the brothers broke their staring contest as a twirling Elain made her way into the room, the skirt of her dress swaying around her legs.
“See? I told you it wouldn’t wrinkle! I’m all ready for – Cassian.”
Her eyes grown bigger mid-sentence, surprised to find his brother there, same brother who wasted no time in placing two finger on his mouth whistling loudly.
“I'm ready for you too. Looking good, Lainy.”
"You're back."
Azriel watched her expression change from mirthful to bashful. He wondered if she was feeling shy of embarrassed. He hoped it was the latter.
“Yep, and just in time to make your wishes come true. I’m not Santa, but you can sit on my lap and tell me everything you want. I'll give it to you."
“Christmas in long gone, Cass.” She snorted.
“Oh, a daddy is never of duty,” he winked at her.
Elain suppressed her giggle, Azriel gagging all the wall to the coach hanger. “You are disgusting.”
Cassian ignored him, all smirk and bravado as he got up and moved toward Elain, malice radiating from every step. He appraised her from head to toe. It was a rare event to see Elain in a dress. Glittering eyelids matched the cleave-free green dress that stopped a few inches above her knees, white flats completing her look. His eyes returned on her knees, his smile dropping, replaced by a frown. There, pinkish than the rest of her skin, laid a perpendicular scar dividing her knee in half, stretch marks from the stitches leaving the skin heightened in a standing position. Cassian had never noticed that scar before. He wondered if it was new.
Elain cleared her throat, a blue jacket appeared in his line of sight as she repositioned the piece of clothing in her arms to cover herself, uncomfortable with his stare. Cassian smiled at her, deciding it was best not to ask about it.
“So, where we going?”
He offered her a hand, the promise of a kiss in his eyes. Elain had always loved the kisses he deposited in her hands and cheeks, lips lingering on her skin to enjoy the squirm she thought he couldn’t notice. He did notice, every time. Cassian loved making her squirm, delighting in her little crush.
For the great shock of a nation, Cassian had not fucked Elain, but now that his brother was he wondered if he had missed some kind of swift opportunity. Elain wasn’t ugly, and it had been a long time since he found a match to his twisted sense of humor. What a delight it was that her sense of humor came wrapped in a package with a killer pair of legs, which should definitely be exposed more often. His look drift to her chest. She didn’t have much in that department but that didn’t matter much, he was more of an ass man anyways. No, Elain wasn’t ugly at all, and Cassian liked looking at her very much.
She could dress better, tho. He preferred his women with smoked eyes, sexy dresses, thigh slits and high heels. Women looked very fuckable in heels, all perched ass and tits pushing in his direction. He loved it.
Brown eyes sparkled with joy, a pretty smile blooming on her lips as she raised her hand. Except she did not place it in his expecting one, no. A harsh push forced him to the side, Azriel replacing him to take her hand, a light kiss landing on the back.
“You looked lovely.” He complimented taking her from the room. Not bothering to say goodbye to his brother, choosing to forget he existed all together.
"Good enough to eat?"
"Behave."
"Only 'cause you asked, love."
Contrary to Azriel, Elain had not forgot Cassian was there.
"We are going on a date!" She shouted back at him while Azriel walked faster to get her away from his brother. Cunning bastard.
Cassian watched her wrap her other hand around his brother’s flaccid biceps, smiling as she murmured softly to him. His expression faltered for a second. What was so funny about Azriel’s sad lack of mass muscle? Fixing his face, he jogged towards the couple, reaching them near the elevator, meddling in the middle to keep them apart, an arm around his brother and the other around Elain.
"Now this is a development I had not seen coming. Lainy, is this some kind of bet gone wrong? You can tell me if it is, as his boss I have the power to set you free."
"You are not my boss," Azriel pipped at the same time Elain said, "We are good."
Under his arm, Elain shrugged. Azriel breaking free to go stand at her other side, pulling her by the waist till she parted from Cassian.
“This makes no sense. You are two fight like dogs… Is little Azzy threatening you?” Cassian concluded at last. “Is that it? You can tell me if he is, I’ll beat his ass for you.”
Elain simple laughed.
"Please, like he could handle me. Did you know that my sister,"
"Is a professional MMA fighter." Azriel finished the sentence in her place, winning an ugly glare. "Yes, he knows, everybody knows. You've mentioned it. Several times."
“Meddlesome.”
“Broken record.”
“Maybe he didn’t know.”
“He knows.”
“How do you know? You’re not entitled to everyone’s knowledge.”
She bumped him with her hip, Azriel not moving an inch, and turned to Cassian.
"Anyway, your brother confessed his undying love for me, and how all that stress was his way of demonstrating affection. Like a little boy pulling the pigtails of the girl he thinks is pretty." She sighed deeply. "I knew my irresistible charms would get me in trouble someday."
"I'm right here." Azriel reprehended pulling her closer.
"Oh my, you are here, love? You are so pretty for a second there I thought you were a painting." She slapped him lightly on the cheek, Azriel grabbing her wrist on the second tap.
“No hitting.”
”Why? Is it that your kink?” She asked using a tone Cassian could not distinguish, as if she was sharing an inside joke with his brother.
The elevator doors opened, his existence completely forgotten by the couple bickering as they walked inside and off they went.
DAY 489
Had someone told him he would be outside his girlfriend’s apartment, making out against a door like a couple of fucking horny teenagers, he’d have called the bloke mad. Now here he was, being the mad man himself. One side of her overall had unbuttoned, the metallic piece rasping on the wood as Azriel pressed Elain harder against the door, two bodies merging together.
The goodnight kiss was supposed to be gentle, a tender caress to remember till he saw her again. Azriel would be gone for a couple days, and Elain insisted he walked her upstairs before he left.
“I’m not coming in,” he warned her back in the car.
“Just walk me to my door, that is.”
“I will. But I’m not coming in.”
“Gee, you said that. I just want to give you a proper goodbye,” she said with false innocence.
Liar.
Once upstairs she invited him inside again, but Azriel would budge.
“Fine. Can I at least get a kiss?”
He gave her a peck.
“Goodnight, Elain.” He said knowingly. Azriel called her by last name to annoyed her, a petulant childish trait that he seemed to have absorbed around her.
Determined hands wrapped around the lapels of his suit, Elain tiptoeing to tug him down.
“I wear black and white you think I'm a nun? Don’t you dare leave after giving me this slob sorry excuse of a kiss Azriel, or I swear to God –” Her empty threat was swallowed by a kiss.
Azriel wouldn’t admit to a soul, but riling her up was fun. Their breaths mingled in a slow and sloppy kiss, Azriel walking her backwards up till she hit her door, a painful hiss drowning on the slow sleek of his tongue. In the many days following their agreement Azriel and Elain had kissed many times, which had him quickly learning that she was a frenetic kisser, aggressive in her necessity to take the lead in a succession of hurried uncoordinated motions as someone who was ready to torn her clothes apart, moving too fast as she often did in every other aspect of her life.
Like a caveman first discovering fire, he enjoyed her enthusiasm with an intense amount of male pride burning in his chest. The problem was his body was still recovering from the aftermaths of a bad love. Until Elain, Azriel had only ever loved one woman in his life, had only ever been with her. Sure, he had been on a date here and there when things went south and they broke up for a few days of weeks. Pity-dates set by friends who could not understand why a twenty-something hadn't had a single girlfriend in his entire life, pity-dates set by worried familiars who secret thought him homosexual.
He remembered being set up with solid young women whose personalities were nearly a mirror of his own, having forgettable dates where he couldn't, for the life of him, recall what they talked about, kissing some of them goodbye with a lie ready on his lips that they should do it again. Tepid kisses that were closer to a handshake than caress between possible lovers. He went to bed with none of them.
Looking back, it was almost laughable how he caught Morrigan in an intimate act with another men more times than he liked to count but had never managed to move forward with another woman himself. Too hung up in a promise she had no interest in fulfilling. Now Azriel was done chasing a woman who had no love to give him, but his body was still fearful of getting with someone different, someone new.
He needed more time to adjust, time his volcano of a girlfriend seemed to not need at all. Tenacious hands found their way inside his jacket, running wild all the way from his hip to his neck, pressing him harder against herself, her soft breast rasping against his dress shirt with every move she made. So he had to educate her.
Where Elain was a trashing hurricane, Azriel was a placid running river, moving with deliberate slow and steadiness, guiding the kiss to a less hectic pace, leisured wet tongue kisses mingled with soft peck to stable his breathe, strong hands shaping the outside of her body without being too brazen, bold enough to soothe his curiosity in caressing her body but enough to blur the lines he wasn't ready to cross.
Hands moved to him front, trailing down from his chest to his waistline, closing precariously around his belt to get him closer. Azriel stopped the kiss, pulling away slightly. Blown-wild pupils had nearly encased the entirety of her irises, a breathless Elain looking up and expectant at him.
“I want to see you naked," she hushed. Quiet words spoken in a frenzy, a solid request with no shyness in the borders.
Despite his efforts to mellow the kisses, his heart thundered inside his chest. The feeling of soft curves molding perfectly to the hard shapes of his body making him dizzy. He collared her neck, not to choke, just to hold her in place.
“What would your neighbors say?"
Azriel meant to sound playful, calm. He sounded lustful and agitated.
Elain watched him like a hawk, searching his eyes for a bit, noting the tension in his shoulders, the uneasiness in his strained smile, a quiet tell for a question she would not ask. Not yet. With a yielding sigh, she hid her face in his chest.
"She’d probably thank you, that lady is a pervert,” came her muffled reply. “We could put on show for her.”
"Is that your kink? Exhibitionism?" His smugness could not be missed, Azriel feeling pretty proud of himself for the quick thinking. Elain had been antagonizing him about kinks for weeks, now it was his turn to make her hot and uncomfortable.
"Dunno. Wanna help me figure it out?" He groaned lordly. Of course she wouldn’t stay down. “I bet she’s more kinky, tho. Did you know she watches porn without headphones?” She lifted her head again, face soured by the memory. “We do not have good soundproofing walls, Marino. Sometimes I can hear it as I'm climbing upstairs!"
Azriel chuckled, moving his hand to her face, his thumb making circular motion in her cheek. Even at night Elain seemed to glow, her supple skin calling at him, begging for a stroke, for a touch, for a kiss. So soft and so, so,
“So pretty,” he finished out loud. The unsolicited compliment turning her face red.
She recovered quickly, fully leaning into his hand to say, “I’m prettier naked. Wanna see?”
“Out in the hallway?” He challenged mildly.
“Out in the hallways.”
“For everyone to see?”
“Eve-ry-one.” She said secured. “But mostly you.”
“You are confident."
“Maybe I am an exhibitionist.”
Azriel laughed quietly, cradling her face in both hands now, a kiss landing in her forehead. Having known Elain for over a year, Azriel has lost count of how many sexual innuendos he heard coming out of her mouth. He was mostly shocked at first, mildly annoyed later, and full-on done with them once Cassian joined the mix, an insufferable nasty match that could put hookers to shame. Then he asked her to date him, and Elain perverted agenda had seemed to find a new single target: him.
Azriel would have been caught by surprise had he not been so used to her being deliberately inappropriate. Elain wanted to have sex with him and would spare no efforts to make sure Azriel understood that, but Azriel was scare to correspond because he wasn’t sure of how his body would react with a new partner.
Truth be told, he was scare he would not react at all.
“I’m sorry.”
"If you apologize for that I'll feel like a predator." Elain grimaced, exhaling in defeat. "It’s all right, rain check on exhibitionism. This is actually a very good choice you know, I remembered I'm wearing an ugly beige bra."
Azriel gave her one last kiss.
“My favorite color.”
“You would, wouldn’t you? You do seem like a guy with a boring favorite color.”
DAY 500
Her shirt had been distracting him all afternoon. The darned thing wasn’t even a sexy one, just a simple white cotton t-shirt with a stupid drawing of potted plants having a conversation.
Azriel used her jeans belt loops to turn her around till her ass was pressed on the table "You are fun, but funny, tsk tsk. Funny is a big stretch."
His fingers dug in her in waist, cutting her cognitive abilities, stopping her from registering the insult. "Cute shirt."
Elain looked down on her white tee design, where two potted plants were having a conversation. One saying, "Aloe, how are you?", the other "Hey, long Thyme no see."
"Thanks."
He traced her lower lip, muttering. "No lipstick, today?"
Her tongue darted outside, meeting the pad of his thumb. "Didn't want to smear you."
"Glass walls. Office hours." Came his low warning.
The usually cool space of the meeting room now felt like a glass furnace, his body burning from the inside out.
"Technically, we are past office hours.” She countered with a sassy tone. “I'm friends with Marie, you know, the cleaning lady. She gave these glass walls an extra glow this morning, I can guarantee you'll find no germs in it. Now, if you wanna put some germs in it, I have a few ideas about what we could press there. Who. You. could press there. But I should warn you, the dress code suggestion may get a little skimpy."
There was no hidding his smile now, except he wasn't amused. His smile was wicked, smoldering hazel eyes hiding delirious promises. Azriel cleaned her saliva over her cheek, finding her neck. Before he could rip a page from her book and make a nasty suggestion of where to put her tongue next, knuckles rapped on the wall, a voice calling for him.
"Az."
Azriel blinked, relaxation morphing into anxiety. He didn’t recognize it at first. The voice that had not called him in a while. Her voice.
“Az?” She tried again.
Blood drained from his face. Azrriel didn’t move. Couldn’t move. The sound of clicking hills filled the unnatural silence, and he knew he could not escape any long. It would come any time now.
"Az... Azriel."
There it was. The trembling call, the crying in her voice. He withdrew from Elain completely, no wanting to soil her with the disgust leaking out of him. Taking a deep breath, Azriel faced Morrigan at last.
“Hi,” she said with trembling lips.
He didn’t greet her back. Didn’t bother too.
"Can we talk? Please. I really need to speak with you."
His heart beat faster. Beneath his skin a new kind of emotion began to shimmer, rageful and blinding, so overwhelming he didn't process Elain's soft "I'll give you a minute," didn't felt the comforting swipe of her hand on his back before she left them alone.
Elain left him and Morrigan stayed.
“I missed you. I’ve called and called and you did not answer me. You know I need you,”
Morrigan was talking.
Morrigan was talking to him.
Her mouth was moving and he had no fucking clue about what she was saying.
Azriel couldn’t listen to a single word, too busy watching her. Watching her meticulously painted cherry red lips. Not a smudge in place, not even when a tear slipped past her black-lined eye the red did not smudge. She remained perfectly put together. He followed the lonely tear all the way to her chin. From there, Azriel kept going, descending to the gold choker around her tanned neck, to the strapless blood red jumpsuit that left her arms and neck uncovered but protected everything else all the way to her ankles, finishing in the black stilettos that made no more noise because she hadn’t move an inch.
Azriel would have easily fell for it in the past. The watery eyes, the singular tear drop streaming down her cheek, the trembling lips to make sure each word came out a little shaky, just enough to make her look pitiful, careful to still enunciate them properly for him to understand every word.
Words he'd latch on, let it sink, let it drown him in guilt and misery and a feeling of longing for a relationship that never existed outside of his head.
Now that he didn't listen to her, Azriel saw her. Her well-manicured coffin nails, the sunglasses on top of her head, the lasted Dior jumpsuit draped over her body. Nothing in her posture or clothes showed a person suffering as she claimed to be.
Azriel saw Morrigan and it saddened him how easily it was to manipulate him.
To let himself be manipulated.
“Are you done?” His question was cold, cutting her sob story in half.
Morrigan sniffed, big brown eyes looking pitifully at him until she saw his resigned expression. His lack of will to entertain her. That's when her face changed, her real self breaking through the cracks of the insecure and pitiful persona she was trying to play. She looked at him regal and feral, Morrigan looked at him with the uttermost conviction that she could bring him back to her world in the snap of her fingers.
"Are you done?" she repeated back at him. Voice clear as water.
"I'm done with you."
"Stop this bullshit Azriel, we both know you don't have it in you." She pulled a small hand mirror from her purse, padding the area beneath her eye where a second tear was coming down. "I've entertained you long enough. It's time for you to go back to where you belong."
"And where would that be?"
"Beside me."
Azriel was stunned for a second. Then he was laughing, howling even. His laughter was a sad thing, carved from disbelief. He must have misheard her. Behind me, that's where she meant. Behind her, after her, pinning for her like a dog while she lived her life to the fullest not bothering to give a fuck about him. Azriel ran a hand over his hair to pull the edges hard, moving on to rub his face furiously. No, no, no. He wasn't doing this, he wasn't going to entertain her anymore.
Sharp nails carved a path on his forearm as he tried to pass by her, Morrigan grabbing him with all the strength she could must.
"What are you doing?"
"Leaving."
"I'm talking, Azriel."
"I'm not listening, Mor."
Azriel held her stare, all the love he once felt turning into an ugly thing inside his chest. She held him harder, nails sinking deeper. Her voice reflecting every ounce of authority she deem to exercise over him
"I'm talking, Azriel. And you're listening."

Tw: Reader feels ashamed about her body and about stretch marks (this post is really self indulgent) but Orc Bf is a chad who tells her off about putting herself down!!!
Your reflection stared back at you in the mirror. Standing in front of it, only in your undergarments, you narrowed your eyes at the jagged red marks that stretched at the top of your thighs.
They’re disgusting you think, revolting. Placing your hands on top of them, you try to picture your body without them. Smooth like glazed clay.
In your minds eye, you look so much happier without them. You imagined yourself in shorts, rushing through a field, frolicking so freely.
An annoyed sigh escaped you when you removed your hands and found that your visualisation hadn’t done anything to make the marks magically vanish.
“What’s got you sighing like that?”
From the bed, your Orc Boyfriend looked up from his book upon hearing your irritated exhale.
“It’s these.” You jabbed a finger at the effected skin. “They’re so horrible to look at. They look like bruises.”
“You didn’t do anything to hurt yourself, did you?” Your boyfriend asked. You knew he was trying to be helpful, offer some alternative explanation to them. But his question still irked you.
“Why on earth would I do something to make these?” You snapped. Seeing his shocked reflection in the mirror, you apologised. “Sorry… It’s just… I know no one else will see them much or even comment on them, but they make me feel so ugly. They’re only stretch marks, but…” You trailed off.
After a moment, your Orc snapped the book in his hands shut and swung his legs off the side of the bed. “Come over here.” He said, beckoning you over.
Frowning, you walked to the bed and stood in front of your Boyfriend. Taking your hands in his, he locked eyes with you. “You’re not ugly. I know it feels like it, but you’re not.”
You pursed your lips, “I just wish they’d go away. I don’t even know how they got there.”
“And sometimes you don’t and that’s okay, so don’t be harsh on your body for it.” He squeezed your hands tightly. “Bodies are weird and strange and they do things that sometimes we don’t understand. They change all the time and that’s normal.”
Running a thumb across the back of your hand, he continued. “Even though you have those scars, you are still beautiful. You don’t think I’m any uglier because of my scars do you?” He pointed to the jagged moss green slashes that sliced up the front of his chest, blotches of scar tissue from arrows that had been lodged into his muscle along with an array of other cuts that have their own gruesome stories to accompany them.
Your jaw dropped, eyebrows shooting up in horror. “No! Gosh no, I wasn’t trying to imply that-”
Your boyfriend chuckled and pulled you into a hug. “I know, I know. That wasn’t a good joke, sorry.” He looked up at you, “but you get the point, right?”
Nodding, your cheeks reddened. “But my scars aren’t the same as yours, they’re not-”
“I won’t let you put yourself down anymore. Stop it.” Your Orc said firmly. “I’ll keep telling you until you believe it yourself: you’re beautiful as you are. Say it back to me.”
You spluttered, before sighing. You repeated the words back, “… I’m beautiful as I am.”
A smile graced your boyfriends lips. “That’s my love.”
The heat in your cheeks rising again, you mumbled. “You’re beautiful too.”
Your Orc laughed as you wrapped your arms around his head and held him close to your chest. “Thank you love.”

Hi! I've seen some fans, in my opinion, completely misunderstand Elphaba telling Glinda in the deleted scene that choosing Fiyero was a "mistake." They are taking that to mean she would've preferred bringing Glinda and hates that she chose Fiyero?
I saw her calling it a "mistake" as her 1, sparing Glinda's feelings, and 2, she called it that because it was the event that made her feelings for her BEST FRIENDS BOYFRIEND grow, so of course she has some regrets. 😅 She loves Glinda, her not choosing Glinda doesn't devalue how she views their friendship, she just subconsciously knew Fiyero genuinely cared for the same cause.
I love your takes, so I was just wondering as to what your thoughts exactly were in that scene?
^ Video for context
(Firstly, apologies if I repeat some of the same things you’ve already said, I had a lot of thoughts about this scene and I just wanted to get them down and it was easier writing this as a bit of a scene analysis rather than just a direct response)
*Checks there’s no Gelphie fans holding sharp objects in hearing range*
Ok let me begin.
I’m glad it was cut.
I don’t think it was a very good scene. I think it doesn’t really make sense with the train station scene (there’s no way Glinda would still think Fiyero was distant and moodified about Dillamond if she knew this) and it introduces Galinda’s suspicions about Elphaba and Fiyero too early (I like the scene with her waking up and noticing they were both gone, I like the scene where she notices the moment between them at the train station, I want the niggling doubts in her mind, but something big like this doesn’t feel right pre-interval).
Saying that, I don’t think it’s saying what the Gelphie fans think it was saying.
I actually think it’s a fairly selfish scene from Galinda’s perspective. She’s upset because she was left out – which I do understand, but she’s failing to see the bigger picture. There was a sentient, intelligent, being in danger and it got saved and, instead of being happy about that or even asking if the Cub was ok, her first reaction is “but what about me?” Contrast this to Fiyero not even listening to Elphaba’s panic in the Lion Cub scene, because he’s seen an opportunity to get it to safety, or Elphaba who immediately joins him. Their first priority is about the Animal – any focus on feelings or why this happened doesn’t come until the Lion Cub appears to be safe.
And let’s imagine, for a second, the scene of Galinda in the Lion Cub scene. She would go with Elphaba, I believe that much, though it would not be Galinda who made the first move the way it was for Fiyero. She’d be discouraging Elphaba from doing it at least at first “Elphie, we’re going to get in so much trouble!” and she’d be busy complaining about going through the forest in heels. There probably would be some concern for the Lion Cub, in so much that it’s cute and small and vulnerable, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t end up asking “are we sure that the teacher isn’t right that the cage is for his own good?” Galinda doesn’t like challenging the status quo and is known to downplay atrocities (hell, we see in the train station scene that she refers to Doctor Dillamond being literally dragged away by guards as an “old Goat” that she was surprised Fiyero cared so much about who was “fired”).
Her insistence that “you could have picked me” isn’t one of her genuinely thinking she had the ability to help in that situation. It’s that she’s uncomfortable that her best friend and her boyfriend shared something she didn’t, that Elphaba (quite rightly given the circumstance) didn’t immediately turn to her for help. There also possibly is a hint of her realising here (if, I think, subconsciously) that Elphaba and Fiyero might have feelings for each other, and reacting to try and prevent it.
From Elphaba’s side, she is feeling guilty for having feelings for her best friend’s boyfriend. She first tries to downplay it “he just helped me rescue the Cub,” and then, on further pushing, apologises, says it was a mistake and promises to “pick” Galinda next time.
How do we know that it was a matter of her feeling guilty over feelings for Fiyero rather than thinking it was a “mistake” that she “picked” Fiyero? BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T PICK HIM! We know that she didn’t have any control over the spell, we know she was just as surprised as Fiyero when he didn’t fall asleep with the others. The only reason she wouldn’t have said “I didn’t pick him, he must have been immune to my spell for some reason, maybe he took a lot of hay fever tablets that day,” is because the mistake is not about that. The mistake was letting Fiyero get close enough at all that she caught feelings for him (perhaps even ones she sort of knew she was brewing – given the cut Boq train station scene implies that he’s noticed too and they’ve all be hanging together for a while before this point).
Therefore, her promise to Galinda is not about trusting her, or thinking she’d have been a better person to save the Lion Cub with, it’s about making it up to Galinda, and proving to herself that she will never do something that might hurt Galinda again.
And Defying Gravity proves that Galinda was indeed the wrong person to be “picked”. We see Elphaba and Glinda in a very similar situation to the Lion Cub scene, they’re breaking the law for the good of the Animals. Firstly, Glinda doesn’t even follow Elphaba until Morrible tells her to “get her back”(again, Fiyero takes the lead in the Lion Cub scene, he’d have saved the Cub without her), then she tells Elphaba to come back, that she’s out of her mind and, while she does clearly flirt with the idea of joining Elphaba, not only does she quickly back down, it’s never, never about truly believing, or even fully understanding, why Elphaba wants to go.
Ultimately, the promise scene is a tragic one, it’s the first scene where we see how different both girls’ morals really are. They’re making the promise for two different, selfish reasons, that have more to do with their own insecurities than actual belief in each other, and it’s a promise that gets broken before the end of the movie.
It’s also worth noting that Glinda even has another chance to keep this promise in Act 2. In the throne room scene, she could have gone with Elphaba and Fiyero – it would have been easy to say “me too” when Fiyero says he’s going with her, but it doesn’t even occur to her. Meanwhile Fiyero, again, has already stepped up, willingly giving away his palace life, reputation and become a traitor to Oz to ensure Elphaba gets away safely.
Fiyero was always the right person to pick in the Lion Cub scene.

You love it, don’t you?
Watching me as we sit together in a cozy restaurant on date night, both dressed to impress. You savor your meal delicately, while I’m already demolishing mine—and yours, too, because you always ‘accidentally’ leave something behind for me. It’s no coincidence, is it? You don’t want a single bite to go to waste, and who am I to argue? I’ll clean the plate every time.
By the time the main course is done, my shirt—tight to begin with—starts to strain across my growing belly. Button by button, the fabric struggles to contain me, but you just smirk, insisting we can’t leave without dessert. You’re eager to try the tiramisu? Of course, baby. Order that, and your regular dessert, too. It’s fine, I’ll take care of the leftovers.
You think I don’t notice, but I do. The way your eyes linger. The way you try to hide the little tremble in your voice when you ask if I’m ‘too full.’ I’ve seen it—the way your breath hitches when my swollen belly presses tight against my shirt, when the fabric pulls taut and there’s no denying the softness beneath. You can barely focus on the food in front of you because you’re too busy devouring me with your eyes.
And when the night is over, and I practically waddle back to the car, stuffed with food and wine, you’re all too eager to help. One hand on the wheel, the other possessively resting on my belly, feeling every groan and whimper I make as I try to find some relief. But you don’t want relief—you want more. Don’t you, baby?
So why don’t you tell me what you really want? Say it out loud. Tell me how you dream of me outgrowing every shirt I own, popping buttons left and right until there’s nothing left to hold me in. Tell me how you picture me struggling to squeeze into these tiny restaurant chairs, leaving you breathless with the sight of my wide, plush body. Admit how much you love the idea of me getting so unfit, so indulgent, that every step feels like a marathon.
You don’t have to hold back. I won’t say no. In fact, I think we both know I’ll say yes—again and again, until I’m everything you’ve ever dreamed of… and more.😈
Any feedback is appreciated🥹🙏
