As a season 2 guy I personally have mixed feelings on this. I would’ve been perfectly fine if Doof didn’t appear as much after the crossover, but I’m also heavily biased towards his interactions with Dakota because they both suck (affectionate). The filler episodes where he’s not with Dakota feel like a drag to me, and I think that’s one of season 2’s biggest weaknesses as a whole. I love Doof very dearly, but I don’t think he was really in his element in MML.
What bothers me the most about it though is the Cavendish/Dakota and Perry/Doof apologies in Milo in Space. I really feel like Dakavendish got the short end of the stick on that one, because they had so little time to wrap up that entire arc. It felt rushed in favor of Doof and Perry, who actually got more of a clear resolution to their arc. Does anyone know what I mean?
Basically, I think Doof was fine in season 2 when used in moderation, but a lot of times it felt awkward, forced, and unnecessary. MML is already a fantastic show on its own and can easily stand on its own merits, but Doof was definitely used as a crutch.
And yes, Dakota was ROBBED.
idk it just makes me a little mad when I think that the whole overarching plot of MML season 1 was meant to lead up to the PNF crossover, not because the crossover was bad, but because from that point onward, it became like 50% The Doofenshmirtz Show and the actual main cast got sidelined so bad. We already had an iconic and lovable character played by Dan Povenmire in this show, and his name was Vinnie Dakota, thank you!
