So I was thinking about this ambient conversation that you can overhear in… Minrathous? I think. About how some of the characters hid important info in a book by Brother Genitivi because no one cares about him so no one would think to look there.

Which was fun bc, hey, I know him! Love that nerdo.

But also, it’s great because it drives home the subjectivity that has always been inherent to the DA setting.

How many codex entries in DAO and DA2 were written by him? And he’s no one here! No one cares who he is or what he thinks! There’s a codex entry by Emmrich talking about how he misrepresented the Grand Necropolis pretty badly. This single ambient conversation and few lines of text are asking you to re-examine what you thought you knew about the places in Northern Thedas, because most of the perspectives you’ve been given before were from biased outsiders.

It’s a great way to leave room for the devs to expand the world/lore in a way that’s interesting to them AND it is a thing that frequently happens in real life, too. Love that verisimilitude
