I'm replaying the entirety of KH on pc so here's my ranking of the games!!
If I was forced to put them in order it would be smth like
Chain of Memories -> 358/2 Days -> Dream Drop Distance -> KHI -> KHIII -> Dark Road -> KHII -> Melody of Memory -> Union X -> Re:Coded -> Birth By Sleep -> A Fragmentary Passage
I'm talking story wise btw, gameplay means little to me, I'm here for the stories babeeyyy and also this is just if I had to rank them, generally speaking I love and would die for the entire franchise!!
Below some more details about my reasoning starting from the bottom up!
Good Stories But...
Birth by Sleep & Fragmentary Passage
Let's cut to the chase, I'm not a fan of Aqua. I'm not a hater and I think what they did with the Wayfinder Trio as a tragic beginning for KH I was really good, but also I just can't vibe with her type of character. And yes the Lack Of Communication was THE POINT in that story but to me it's a very frustrating trope to watch, and we had to play through it THREE TIMES. So I can of course take a step back and see the good in the story as a whole and I LOVE Terra and adore Ventus, but having to watch Aqua Execute Orders without questions nor stopping to ask Terra What The Fuck Was Up truly dampened the whole experience for me. Fragmentary Passage was very interesting but also Aqua POV so yeah...
STILL despite my preferences, I still think the stories were cool and interesting so I give both titles a B!
Nice Little Story!
Re: Coded
A nice little game that I still have to play for myself but of course I've watched the movie of. I liked the whole Data Riku part in particular and I think that it's overall a fun recap with some extra tidbits of lore inside. B+
Really Nice Story
Union X
Watched the movie of this one and OH I fell in love with Daybreak Town and the 2d style, plus learning the origin of it all was mind-blowing! Really really liked it so imma give it an A with a lot of tears cause I wasn't able to play it (´;ω;`)
SUPER COOL STORY
Kingdom Hearts II
Yes, Roxas part at the beginning was fucking AWESOME SAUCE but I don't think it was the BEST part of the game. The WHOLE thing was SO good from Sanctuary to the ending. No notes. It was great to play Sora again and to delve deeper into the story!
Melody of Memory
I SUCK at rhythm games but man do I LOVE them! And one where I get to listen to the amazing music of Kingdom Hearts while also going through the various iconic worlds? Sign me the fuck UP! Also the truth behind Kairi was GREAT!!
Giving both games rating S!!!
AMAZING STORIES
Kingdom Hearts I
Call me cheesy and nostalgic, I don't give a fuck, the vibes of the very first game will remain unmatched, even after replaying it there's just this enchanted aura surrounding it. Plus I'm a sucker for beginnings💞
Dream Drop Distance
Beside the fact that I can play with Riku, I've loved this story SO much, the whole a dream within a dream thing was so cool and YOUNG XEHA WAS THERE! The exam! Sora almost losing himself! The Dreameaters and Nightmares! Riku!! And overall the aesthetic of it is chef kiss! A great fucking game💞💞
Kingdom Hearts III
Beside the whole DLC debacle that was indeed very eye rolling, I truly do not understand the hate this game got. It was an amazing conclusion to the first saga of this story, we can see how all the stories come together, there's a crazy cool ensemble cast and it's also visually beautiful! It's the one I love to pop back in to run around when I miss playing (Toy Box the world that you are) but that aside I truly, truly loved all the developments the cast had and the choices Sora made. It was a perfect ending to this one chapter and it made me want to begin the next one asap💞💞💞
Dark Road
Another game I wasn't able to play but thankfully got to watch in full online! A MAZ ING! Again in love with that 2d style but what I loved most was, of course, the story following Xehanort himself! How cool to be able to learn about his story AAAAA I love origin stories sooo much and Eraqus? All the classmates? The Upperclassmen?? Baldr???? BRAGI/LUXU?? Oh man it was such a trip to experience-
All four games get a SS rating~
The Stories of my Heart
Chain of Memories
Yes the gameplay is horrendous but this was, thanks to the manga and the movie, the first KH story that truly completely captivated me. It won me over and changed me when I was twelve, the concept menories being like a chain one can break, reassemble and add/remove pieces to is SO interesting. Naminé is there! AXEL is there! The first glance at the Organization XIII! Repliku and the whole replicas thing! Not to mention my favourite version of Dearly Beloved!! AH it's so good...
"In this place, to find is to lose, and to lose is to find. That is the way in Castle Oblivion."
358/2 Days
What to say, this is THE tragedy... I love the angle they went for, making us play "the bad guys", fall for them, learn all about Roxas and Axel and Xion... The bittersweetness of their short time together and their goodbyes. The way the game is structured, so apparently mundane, making you see the daily lives of these "Nobodies" is something I extremely enjoy as a slice of life lover and I personally believe that it made the ending even worse. And the concept of a Nobody, the existential crisis of it all, AH such great material. This one has the Dearly Beloved that most breaks my heart UGH those violins...
"Bet you don't know why the sun sets red."
Both of these games get a SSS 💞💞💞

I recently watched Absolutely Everything About’s video on the end of the Xehanort saga and having stewed on it, I do genuinely think that 0.2 is the best Kingdom Hearts side game, and I agree with their sentiment that it’s the model I really wish Kingdom Hearts spin offs would follow.
A short, lower budget, asset-reusing side game that maintains the core gameplay of the mainline but puts you in control of a different playable character, which allows both for new opportunities to develop them, as well as how to experiment with new gameplay styles. It gave some really appreciated character work for Aqua that she probably wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. That effectively solves the biggest problem I’ve had with KH’s approach to side games, that being how much they vary in both gameplay styles and quality.
The frustrating thing about prior spin offs is how much they can feel like homework to any one playing on the collections, either re-experiencing the series, or going through it for the first time. Titles like Chain of Memories and Birth By Sleep made sense somewhat as experimental stop gap releases on handhelds. But when you play them on console now, directly packaged next to the numbed games, some of the best action RPGs ever made, boy do they feel like a chore you have to sit through to understand the numbered games. I remember once watching a friend get into the series. He had a great time with KH1 and was excited to play more, but Re:COM’s tedium pretty much killed his momentum to keep going. And as a result, he’s still never got round to 2. But 0.2 carries over the gameplay you’re already familiar with, and so it doesn’t have this problem.
It’s also a good solution to Kingdom Hearts’ massive cast, which I do feel it’s had a harder and harder time juggling, particularly in 3. Nomura has stated that he wants the numbered games to remain focused on Sora and that’s fine. But the scope of the series has expanded in such a way that keeping the focus on Sora and doing those characters justice at the same time is a tough balancing act. Give those characters their own episodes though as short interim titles? Boom. Problem solved. Ample opportunity to provide further character work for fan favourites, especially when at this point in the series they’re all off looking for Sora separately.
Give me Episode Riku, where he wanders bizarre new dream worlds following his connection on to Sora. Episode Kairi where she sets out to find the remaining New Seven Hearts. Episode Roxas where we see his own efforts in the search for Sora, while seeing him adjust to finally being a complete purpose. A Wayfinder trio episode where they work through their baggage as they return to the Realm of Darkness and Ventus gets his memories back.
Now this may be sounding a bit too much like Final Fantasy XV’s much maligned DLC practises, but I think this would be a better fit for Kingdom Hearts. XV felt like an expansive vision for a big JRPG that was broken up piecemeal over a rocky development, or at times dived into damage control retcons. Kingdom Hearts thrives on its melodramatic soap-opera story structure, checking in regularly with these characters to see what new crazy twist will happen next. Much as I think the spin offs in the 2000s and early 2010s often weren’t great, they did maintain a momentum that gave it such a strong following with kids in the 2000s. I can’t think of another big game series that maintained that kind of release structure and momentum besides maybe Trails.
Kingdom Hearts IV has been quiet for a while now, and I’m really glad they seem to be taking their time with it. And usually, I’m not one to demand constant content. I’ve criticised Pokemon in the past for that very practise. But KH clearly wants to maintain a release schedule because they’ve been diving into mobile games. And I gotta admit, I feel nothing at the prospect of Missing Link, but I’d be chomping at the bit to play a short new game in 3’s engine as a different character.
It’s probably too late to ponder on this. If Square-Enix were gonna make more games in 3’s engine, they’d have done it by now. But I can still ponder what would have been.

okay so. a quick thing
this is a sort of continuation of my not-exactly-a-kingdom-hearts au, which is going to get it's own written bit one day if i can get myself to write again. however, it's kinda crazy so let me summarize it first (dw you don't really need to know anything about the games)
in as few words as possible: boy with amnesia names kaeli meets kingdom hearts characters sora and roxas when they land in his bedroom, and he has to babysit them. he learns the games are mostly untrue, and has to deal with a guy names tenebris who wants to talk to him for some reason. during all of this he's still grieving for his friend, who died a year ago and was his only friend, and sora, fucking optimist that he is, helps kaeli heal. sora also takes kaeli back to his world once they find a way back, and we learn that tenebris is actually kaeli's father, and tenebris is the ambassador for the physical manifestation of time throughout the universe/sort of multiverse, and kaeli gets his memories back after learning this.
now i can get to the new characters :D
so by the time we meet the new characters, it's been a few months since kaeli got his memories back. he's adjusting to this new life, he's got some fun time powers that he's learning to use, and he's become good friends with sora's buddies (they're chaotic. but that's for another time)
well one evening things are swell when suddenly there's a knock on the door. now let me tell you, the place where kaeli is living is a beach house in a world where is nothing but some islands and this beach house, and the five guys living in it. nobody even knows they're here. so they're really confused when they open the door and there's a group of seven people just. standing there. asking if they can come in. for no good reason. also kaeli deadass thinks one of them is bill cipher (you're going to see why in a moment)
this is our colorful cast of characters
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in order: cahira, lucium, paradox, spirum, psychis, tristan, timori
they introduce themselves, and for a while they just act... normal. but like a polite normal. almost too polite. and the whole time kaeli and co are all thinking "what the fuck is going on here"
well except for two of them but that's for a bit later
eventually kaeli gets enough nerve to ask why these people are here, and paradox (who is the leader of this group) just starts laughing. becuase he's crazy like that
turns out they all know tenebris/kaeli's father! and um. they do not like him. and they REALLY do not like lord tempus (the manifestation of time; will here on out call these manifestations "entities"). point is that they want to destroy time and they came to meet kaeli so they could see how much of a threat he is
because guess what they're all entities too :_D cahira is bloodlust, lucium is chaos, paradox is confusion (you see now why kaeli mistakes him for bill cipher here), spirum is manipulation, psychis is madness, tristan is grief/agony, and timori is fear/supersition
so yeah they're basically gods and kaeli is Not Equipped to fight gods
then one of sora's buddies vanitas (another kh character, one of my FAVORITES) steps up and is all like "wait a shit i know you guys!" and they're all like "oh, there you are! we haven't heard from you in four hundered years, and i thought you were trying to stay out of our little conflict and yet here you are with the ambassador's son?" because in this story vanitas is also an entity, but i cannot say of what because that's actually major spoilers for the games womp womp
feel free to ask questions, rant, etc, because i need to make the salmon for dinner and then i will be back
hey. hey mutuals. if i tried to introduce you to some new characters and gave you the crazy story that comes with them would you listen. i don't wanna waste your time 👉👈

National Honor Society (Happy Birthday Brandy)
Tumblr media
Original Post Date: 5/19/21 at 3:25PM EST
Happy Birthday @bbrandy2002  I hope you are having a wonderful birthday today.  I will be honest and say I had no clue it was your birthday until  late yesterday evening.  I hope you like this.  I met you when I was baby new to the fandom.
I started reading your series My Love . To this day that is probably one of my favorite series I’ve read.  If you haven’t read it, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
I had started reading it, then I had lost track of it.  I finally saw a reblog for it again, and so I messaged you.  You had told me then you were so grateful for my comments, as you had thought about scrapping that whole story.  I almost lost my mind, because I thought that story was amazing. And proceeded to with each chapter give an emotional play by play via your inbox while I was reading. Thank you for thinking I wasn’t insane for that. Ha ha ha ha!!!!  You are an amazing writer and friend.  I really appreciate your friendship.
This is a complete one shot.  It technically does not fall into any series that I am currently writing right now or have written.
The Book:  TRR
The Pairings: None
Word Count:  825
Warnings:  Profanity.
Summary:  Liam, Drake, and Hana  have to do the National Honor Society’s daily birthday announcements.
A/N:  This is actually something I used to have to do in high school being part of the honor society.  I ironically came up with this idea while I was watching this crazy show on netflix called Who Killed Sara.  I really hope you like this cute little dumpster fire.  If you don’t, then blame Netflix and my nerdy high school years.  Sorry wasn’t more of a Taylor.  You’ll see.
A/N2: Update 5/21/21
Because the Birthday girl requests a followup and I have cultivated some ideas for this, I am going continue this little accidental AU I created here.  The mini series will be called School Dayz.
Tumblr media
It may even cross into Pop’s Place too.  I’m still figuring out some logistics in that, since I plan to still have Jaiden as an older brother to Riley and Taylor.
Tumblr media
Liam didn’t think of himself as a nerd.  His glasses, braces, and lack of style kind of said otherwise.
Tumblr media
“There’s nothing wrong with being intelligent  Liam.  The right person will find that to be your most attractive trait one day.  I promise.”
His mother had always told him.  He never forgot her words.   His mother had always understood him.
His dad….not at all.  After his mother passed away, Liam was left with his father and Leo.  At least Leo tried to understand him.
Liam’s older brother was a senior.  Everyone knew Leo. Liam’s freshman year of high school he was referred to as Leo’s brother.
Leo wasn’t the brightest bulb on the tree, but he made decent grades, enough to stay on whatever sports team he tried out for.  That first season was football.
Liam… was a klutz.  He was not sports team material.  Liam was on the debate team and in glee club.  He wasn’t in the popular crowd but had his small tribe of friends.  Hana and Drake were his best friends in the whole wide world.
“Who did you get?”
“Nico KH.”  Hana responded, she had a light flush on her cheeks.
“What about you?”
“Riley Brooks?  I’ve never heard of her? Him?” Liam looked at the paper confused.
“Her, she’s new.  She just moved here from New York. She’s in my AP Spanish class.”
Tumblr media
“I got Taylor Brooks.  Guess that’s her brother? A little direction on this would be nice.”
The secretary ushered them up to the intercom.
Hana began speaking, her voice as clear as a bell.
“The National Honor Society would like to wish the following people a happy birthday.”
She paused, for a moment to compose herself.
“Nico KH, have a happy birthday.”
“Riley Brooks, have a happy birthday.”
“Taylor Brooks, have a happy birthday.”
They all said in union.  “Please come to the office to pick up your present courtesy of the National Honor Society.”
Nico showed up to the office first.
Hana walked up to him with their candy bag assortment, and a card  to hand to him.
“Have a happy birthday Nico.”
“Thanks Anna.”  Nico took the bag and the card and walked back out of the office.
“You’re welcome,”  Hana breathed softly.
“Anna?  When the hell did you change your name HANA?”  Drake burst out laughing.
“Drake Walker, language, and detention!”
Liam laughed with Drake.
“I don’t even care. He was close.”
“Hana close only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades.”
Tumblr media
Liam laughed so hard he snorted.
“What’s so funny?”
Liam turned around face to face with a girl  wearing glasses similar to his own.
Tumblr media
“Nothing, my friends are ridiculous..”
“Oh.”
There was an uncomfortable silence.
“I was called to the office. I’m Riley Brooks.”
Liam straightened his glasses, picking up his gift and card, giving it to her.
Liam cleared his throat.  “Have a happy birthday Riley.”
“Thanks.  You’re the first person to wish me a happy birthday by myself.  Usually….”
Another girl stormed into the office like a hurricane. “Where’s my gift at bitches?!?!?!?”
Tumblr media
Standing next to  Riley you could see they were twins. However Riley was soft spoken and Taylor was a firecracker.
“Who are you?”
Drake felt a wave of boldness as he walked up to the girl.  “You must be Taylor Brooks. I personally wish you a happy birthday.”
“Taylor Brooks?  Language, and Detention.”
“On our birthday?!?”
Riley looked uncomfortable next to Taylor.  You could see the physically identical features of Riley and Taylor.  But that’s where the similarities ended.
Tumblr media
Riley was clearly the soft spoken twin.  She was dressed what Liam thought was nice, in a pink button down shirt, and a not quite knee length black skirt.  Her curly hair pulled up in a ponytail.
Her sister was dressed to easily fit into the popular crowd at school.
Tumblr media
But Liam focused his attention on Riley.
“We typically get our birthdays tied together with each other.  Six minutes separates our birthday technically.”  Riley grumbled.
“Oh it makes sense.”
“It does?”  Riley looked irritated.
Tumblr media
“No I mean, if your birthday was on Christmas, I would get you two gifts.  Not just one. Because it would be two holidays.”
Riley smiled.
“So my birthday is a holiday?”  she inquired.
A light pink hue crossed Liam’s face.
“No I meant… I don’t know what I meant…”
“Thank you….”
“Liam. My name is Liam.”
“Thank you Liam.”
Taylor grabbed Riley’s hand.  “Let’s get back to class.”
Riley glanced back at Liam and smiled before her sister pulled her through the office door.
“Could twins be any more different?”
“They are technically two different people.”  Liam was intrigued by Riley already.
“And I’ve got detention with the cute one this afternoon.”
Liam went by his locker after announcements to get his AP Biology book.
He sat at the table in the front of class.
Just as the bell rang she ran into the door.
“You’re late.”
“Sorry, I’m still trying to figure out my way around.”
“Take a seat.”
She glanced around the room seeing the only familiar face she knew, so  she walked over to him.
“Hi Liam.”
“Hi Riley.”

... I think you guys are going to like this.
358/2 Days REWRITE Part 2
Riku is around, but he's all over the place, and he has a mission: Find and capture either Roxas or Xion, unless he CAN manage both, so DiZ can use them to help Sora recover. He's on a time limit, though, because Sora's heart is damaged and the longer Roxas and Xion are around, the less likely Sora is to waking up or even sleeping; I mean, he'll BE sleeping, but it'll be much quieter and it will be absolutely pointless to try waking him up.
For the first few days or months, he keeps his distance, trying to decide who he's picking, sadly.
Pros of bringing Roxas to DiZ: He has the closest connection to Sora, being his nobody, he's got the keyblade, Riku can probably take him one v. one, if there are any problems, he just needs to get a reaction out of 'Sora.'
CONS of bringing to Roxas to DiZ: Have fun trying to run from the remaining Organization members, he'll have to avoid Non-form or he'll get beaten all to Hell, he runs the risk of hurting his friend for reals, Roxas is rarely alone, Roxas is one hell of a runner and fighter, he'll just feel bad.
Pros of bringing Xion to DiZ: She has more 'keyblade' potential, maybe her voice will help wake up Sora(?), she looks and sounds like Kairi, Naminé gets a new friend(as long as DiZ doesn't decide to throw her away).
CONS of bringing Xion to DiZ: She looks and sounds like Kairi, she's crazy skilled, she hits hard, she's laughable when she's mad, but it's gut wrenching to see her cry or be hurt, she looks and sounds like Kairi, Naminé is probably getting Thanosed when DiZ is done with her because he's a dick right now, so giving Xion to her as a friend will mean nothing, the connection to Kairi, he'll feel bad.
As you can tell, Riku is great at making decisions(sarcasm)
While he's too caught up to do anything, let's check on the sea salt trio, who are getting closer as friends, i.e. seeing Hayner, Pence, and Olette do stupid stuff a KH equivalent of TikTok, which the trio repeats on their own without a phone recording them, eating ice cream, talking, and exploring the Disney worlds for fun, both old ones and new ones that will appear in future games.
In this time, Xion becomes a mix of Kairi and Naminé, outspoken, but careful with who she runs her mouth to, smart, but still open to learn, protective and still needs something if a protector, etc. She is also a wickedly fast learner.
We also get organization shenanigans like Demyx being lazy on missions, Roxas getting annoyed at Xigbar for calling him tiger, dealing with  Saïx, trying not to annoy Xaldin, even getting head pats from Xemnas, and, for fluff, Roxas and Xion finding Axel asleep on the floor of the clock tower and the two scaring him away for shits and giggles.
Yes, a lot of time passes, about 9-11 months, give or take.
Roxas and Xion also become closer as well with Axel being something like their chaperone, only he reports to Xemnas and Saïx.
Speaking of Saïx, he meets up with Axel one day and expresses disdain with the fact Axel would rather be friends with an unstable Roxas and a literal puppet that doesn't even exist.
Axel, on edge already with Xemnas on his back, tells Saïx to put a cork in it. Saïx only pushes back, asking if Roxas even KNOWS what Xion is, even what HE is. To both their credit, the two are wonderful at playing make believe and Axel, being the child he is, is a great at being their playmate.
Axel shoves Saïx back, snapping for him to shut his mouth before he says something he'll regret. Saïx, losing his composure, shoves back, asking if he should because Axel can't handle the truth; he never has been good at it, so it's not surprising.
Ring a bell, someone, please, because Axel throws a punch into Saïx's cheekbone. Saïx returns with a left hook directly to the side of the neck and knees Axel, who grabs his leg under his knee and rolls, making them both fall and throw more punches on the ground, bruising and bloodying each other in full view of the remaining organization members. Maybe we get a gag of Xigbar and Luxord placing bets on who will win, Demyx worrying because they should probably be stopped, Xaldin scoffing at the immature display, and then Roxas and Xion walking in and instantly getting worried because Axel is not winning this fight, as evidenced by Saïx slamming his head into the floor.
When the two stand up to keep fighting, Roxas and Xion race between them, the boy in front of Saïx and a very nervous Xion in front of Axel, who tells her and Roxas to stay out of this or they'll get hurt.
Roxas obviously refuses, but Xion leads Axel away from Saïx, who asks if Axel really needs children to protect him.
No, he needs to protect these two idiots, especially Roxas, who hasn't moved and his eyes have gone Non-form-y, like he's about to transform.
Saïx returns with berserker eyes and smashes Roxas into the wall by his neck, daring him to try it.
It draws a gasp from EVRYONE, even Xaldin, but Saïx scoffs that they shouldn't try pretending to be worried, what with how unstable and how much of a nuisance Roxas is, not too mention weak, which he says while watching Roxas try to break free. He kicks at Saïx, and misses, but Saïx smirks and summons his claymore, wanting to see how tough Roxas really is.
There's a reason Xion pulled Axel away and is so nervous, because said reason puts a hand on Saïx's shoulder and asks him if he enjoys this façade of a life and would rather not disappear.
Yep. Xemnas is here, and everyone backs down, including the the bet making Xigbar and Luxord, who so they can have deniability.
Saïx snaps out of berserk mode in the blink of an eye and begrudgingly lets go of Roxas, i.e. lets him drop down.
Axel and Xion start toward him, but freeze when Xemnas eyes them, like scary eyes.
He has an announcement: There's an imposter and he could be anywhere. He's in a coat just like everyone else's, but his hood's usually up. When he's not wearing it, he's a silver haired teen. Oh, yeah, and his name is Riku.
Axel, Roxas, and Xion all gasp, Axel because Riku was in Castle Oblivion and probably knows where Sora is and Roxas and Xion because it brings back memories from Sora.
Xemnas sees the reaction, but only focuses on Roxas, asking softly if he's okay and if he was hurt.
He's fine and he wasn't and he shakes his head to chase away Non-form.
Xemnas still helps him up and orders everyone to keep their eyes open and report ANYTHING on this imposter because the sooner they catch and... well, just catch him, the better, that part being Xemnas not wanting to upset Roxas, make him go into Non-form, and have everyone need to knock him out to calm him down.
Xemnas takes Roxas away to be checked on, in case he was really hurt and doesn't know it, and Roxas asks what will happen to Saïx and Axel for fighting. He didn't see a lot of it, so he’s not even sure who started it.
They’ll be 'interviewed' and reprimanded accordingly, but they won't die, so relax.
What about the imposter? Who's Riku? And who's Sora??
Xemnas stops checking on Roxas and puts a hand on his head, which he doesn't need to worry about because the organization can deal with it. All he needs to do is keep doing missions and giving his 100%. Roxas sighs that he IS, hell he's giving 150% because Non-form's acting up, but he's kept it calm, even with the hallucinations of Sora, Ven, and now Non-form.
Xemnas finishes checking for any wounds and commends Roxas, saying that is why he chose him. Before Roxas can ask, Xemnas tells him to go in the lobby because he has a mission with Xaldin.
Roxas does so and passes by and reassuring Axel and glaring Saïx, though Roxas glares back.
Xemnas has the two sit down and that warmth he had with Roxas is GONE IN A SECOND, asking both of them what they were thinking, picking a fight in front of everyone and endangering the two most vital components to the plan. Saïx jabs that Axel is letting himself be distracted while Axel states he's doing his job and doesn't want either of them to get upset or angry to the point of dysfunctionality. Besides, He did not start that fight, which he didn't even WANT to partake in.
Does Axel have legs? For now he does, yes. Can he stand? Yes. Can he DEMONSTRATE that he can stand? This is getting tedious, but sure, and Axel stands. Now can he walk from where he is to the far wall? Again, this is tedious, but yes.
If he did ALL OF THAT, why didn't he actually do it?
With no words, Xemnas dismisses Axel, telling him to accompany Xion on their mission.
Axel nods and leaves Saïx to be scolded.
We cut to Riku as he watches Roxas and Xaldin fight of heartless and some knights in Beast's Castle, maybe even go toe to toe with Beast himself, who manages to catch Roxas off guard and momentarily confuses him with Sora.
Xaldin knocks him away and the two leave, Riku coming out and asking if that smaller nobody really was Sora.
Beast admits it was a spur of the moment, but he could have sworn it was Sora.
Meanwhile, Xion and Axel fight hard in Hollow Bastion, squaring off against Squall, Yuffie, Tifa, and Cloud, where we see both more of Axel's gymnastics and Xion's ability with a keyblade.
The fight ends when Xion stops who she believes is Riku the imposter and chases after him, Axel following her in case shit hits the fan.
Xion follows Riku to a cliffside and he gives her an offer and a warning: either give him Roxas or hope that they never meet face to face again. Xion arms herself and demands to know what that means, but Riku also arms himself right as Axel throws a chakram between them and tells Riku to fuck off before he gets hurt.
Riku gives Xion one last glance before falling off the edge and leaving through a dark corridor, making it look like he just disappeared like a badass. They’re both confused, but still call it a day, Xion asking if Axel is okay after that fight with Saïx, because he’s still a little banged up. He expresses he’s fine(he’s a big boy!!) and tells Xion not to worry.
She’s going to anyway because Riku is after Roxas, and threatened her with a fight if she didn’t bring Roxas to him. Axel, although he’s shook, tells her everything will be fine.
LIES, because Xion is sent on a mission to defeat Riku. All she needs to do is knock him out and they’ll come collect him, no problem.
Xion IS strong, but not strong enough because Riku wipes the floor with her and is about to take her to DiZ when dusks, samurai, and Non-form Roxas, who also gets whooped, but at least fairs a little better.
The two wear Riku out enough for a lance to graze his arm, an arrow/bullet to hit his leg, and a few cards to distract him.
The rest of the organization arrive, even Saïx and Xemnas, the latter using thorn/vine things to bind Riku’s hands behind his back.
He remarks that Riku’s a lot bigger than he thought he would be, stronger too, and we get one of those creepy manga Xemnas moments as he grabs Riku, pulls him close by the jaw, and states he’ll have fun seeing just how strong he is; he knows that Riku is hiding Sora, Kairi, DiZ, and his witch, and will tear him apart with his bare hands to know where they are.
With Riku thoroughly freaked out, Xemnas stands and everyone returns, all tired and ready to find Sora.
Xion, however, isn’t. Because Riku said some very interesting things to her during their fight.
She considers telling Roxas, but he’s too worried making sure she’s okay, because Riku was tough. She goes to Axel instead, knowing he has a key to the dungeons, and he’s instantly skeptical; she asked if he could take her to see Riku. Xion lies through her teeth and says she just wants to rub in Riku’s face that they won and he lost.
Axel agrees, but decides he’s going to follow her, just in case.
They arrive as Xigbar leaves, asking if they’re going to welcome the new arrival and need help in doing so.
Xion counters that she’s actually going to return a favor and would like to do it alone.
Axel’s surprised and Xigbar whistles for her to stand down; he was just asking because she got kicked like a soccer ball, no harm in asking for help.
He leaves and Xion goes toward Riku’s cell, asking Axel to stay by the door until she’s done.
He does so and Xion walks towards Riku’s cell, where she and we the audience see Riku is banged up from being interrogated; looks like Xemnas is taking his time.
Riku asks what she wants and Xion responds with a deal:
Tell her about Sora and she’ll give the organization a good enough lie to let him go so he can help Sora. During their fight, the two had an argument, Xion saying she was going to protect her friend and Riku snapping she had no idea what friends were because she’s a nobody and a replica, and the reason Sora can’t wake up.
Spark Notes of the deal: If Riku tells Xion about Sora, Xion will give the organization an answer that will buy Riku enough time to get back to Sora.
Fair, but he has one condition: If he tells her, she was to decide what she will do; he’s not refusing because she genuinely wants to know more about Sora.
Xion agrees and Riku tells her to take a seat, because they’re going to be here for a while.

Tales from the SMP Presents: The Haunted Mansion
An ongoing exploration of how the Inbetween drives my Kingdom Hearts brain crazy with paranoia! Less of an analysis this time, because we got confirmation (VALIDATION!!), and more of speculation, but yeah!
First of all! I was right not to trust this fucker.
Tumblr media
Just kidding, that’s not the first thing we’re gonna talk about here. First of all, a gentle recap!
As I’ve mentioned before, the Inbetween has some uncanny resemblance to the Kingdom Hearts world known as Castle Oblivion. Castle Oblivion is known for being the place where the main series protagonist lost all of his memories, and even had false memories implanted while he was getting deeper and deeper into it.
You might be curious as to how the Kingdom Hearts protagonist escapes.
He doesn’t.
He needs outside help, and a lot of it, to get him out of that situation. Even then, it takes a whole year. He drove his own heart into the bottom of the abyss in his desperation to save someone he was tricked into thinking he knew, and he didn’t even regret it, because he was saving someone.
... A lot of people on Dream SMP have different ideas on what it means to save people.
Also, the castle also had a very plot-twisty secret where it used to be the lush and wonderful home of these three friends before they fell apart; one was lost to the Evil Dark Side™ (not real name), the other was trapped in the Realm of Darkness (real name), and the last one fell into a coma for TEN (10) YEARS and his body was left to be protected in the heart of the land, which was then locked and turned into Castle Oblivion.
So, pretty fucked up place! Not inherently evil, but the place of great misfortune and just... not very good for everyone there.
Let’s start at the beginning!
Tumblr media
Welcome back indeed. Take notice of the wither rose in the pot, by the way, I’ll come back to this in a bit.
The first thing that stands out to me on this page is the smiley face, of course. It’s not the ever-iconic, ever-evil “:)”, but it’s similar enough that I think the callback is intentional. The smiley is c!Dream’s icon, of course, which... honestly makes me think that “:]” might be DreamXD, but that might be because I’m very very biased for the server god who simps for a dangerously apathetic cottagecore once-king.
Of course, it does also look kind of like Quackity’s face, and cc!Quackity has said something about big lore coming for him, but until further evidence is presented I’m disinclined to draw a connection there.
The Inbetween, as we’ve come to know the author of some of these books to be, being happy that Karl is continuing—it reminds me of the KH protagonist being told yes, good job, keep going, as he stumbles deeper and deeper into the castle that strips away memory after memory from his heart. Why does the Inbetween think that Karl’s time travel is important, his careful documentation of every story? Is it because the more he does it, the more he becomes attached? The more he becomes reliant on the Inbetween to feed the missing pieces of his memory?
Is it because the Inbetween, in parallel to c!Dream and c!Wilbur, prioritize the concept of story over the characters?
Things to think about.
Also kind of interesting that the Inbetween thinks Karl will eventually uncover “all [he] needs to”, which continues to make me think that the more c!Karl comes to the Inbetween the more he becomes... either dependent or over-trusting of it. Not sure. But weird things happen when it’s magic that tampers with memories, rather than trauma.
Basically, I’m getting “there is no war in Ba Sing Se” vibes.
The book continues to say that Karl probably has a lot of questions and that it would love to answer :] but never actually does. It’s trying to come off as helpful without actually being helpful. All it does is tempt him with the prospect of answers, and then draws him in deeper. “Continue onward, Karl.” But why?
Tumblr media
Another wither rose pot.
Sidestepping the very innocuous, very surface-level information offered here (because that’s it, it’s nothing about the workings about the Inbetween, it’s just a little sweet carrot to distract with), I cannot even begin to convey the absolute terror that consumed me at the word “sleepy.”
I mentioned earlier that one of the original characters who lived in the land that would become Castle Oblivion went into a coma, right? But it’s more commonly referred to as sleeping. The game is even called “Birth by Sleep”, and there’s a whole thing about trying to get him to “wake up”. So the idea that time travel can take something out of the traveller that makes them tired, the idea that there is one specific room for sleeping quarters within the Inbetween, paired with that not-quite-right smiley face—I am traumatized, I tell you.
Yes it could be a “haha look what I did with the sentence, because day is a form of time and they time travel so long day is a funny term” kind of smiley, but. Kingdom Hearts has trained me to be suspicious of any talk of sleep.
There’s something just mildly unsettling about the way it continues, with the references to the “many Karls” and the “many many great stories” that sounds borderline condescending.
Tumblr media
And now we get the, uh, “other” author. Notice how this one actually did not have a corresponding wither rose in a pot. I’m starting to think that the flower might actually be an indicator of the not-this-author-pictured-above, the probably-Inbetween-itself, so the fact that this book was found separately from a wither rose pot and it was tucked away under a tree... A tree, under which c!Karl will later find a bit of a refuge... yeah, different author. Or at least an author from a different time.
I’ll elaborate in a moment, but I do think that there’s three (3) mindsets/authors happening here: the sickly sweet Inbetween pretending to be good, the person trying to get c!Karl to distrust the Inbetween, and... someone who desperately wants c!Karl to stay in line.
Tumblr media
This is the third... I don’t want to say author, because it too has the wither rose pot and is trying to keep c!Karl playing along with the Inbetween, but it’s much less coherent and much more desperate.
No “:]”, either.
Some possibilities I’m considering:
the Inbetween, but it’s like, a security subroutine or a glitch in the system,
the Inbetween, but it’s from a future wherein c!Karl has fucked it up to the point of desperation,
Karl / the other author, but it’s from a future, where trying to stray from the Inbetween resulted in something traumatic happening and they don’t want it to happen anymore.
Some fun possibilities to keep in mind. Anyway!
Tumblr media
Ooh, the return of the wither rose pot.
For this part, the only thing I really have to say is that the repetition of the Inbetween trying to present itself as “a place to feel at ease” is... Well, as the lovely Fear has said in this post linked here, a place that tries and makes itself seem safe probably isn’t, because a genuinely safe place wouldn’t need to announce it all the time.
Very much sounding like a Ba Sing Se thing.
More importantly, the book actually says that it’s “wild” how the Inbetween is “so beautiful that even time travellers who go anywhere at anytime ever and they still choose here” with a good old “:]” tacked on at the end. That’s... that’s not just me thinking like that sounds kind of threatening, right? Like, time travellers can see anything anywhere, and they keep coming back to the Inbetween. Why?
Is it because they forget the beauty of anything else? Is it because it’s not beauty, but rather attachment and emotion that keeps someone going back to a place? If someone forgets their loved ones and precious things, then why would they go anywhere but the place where they’ve put all their stories?
Why did KH’s protagonist keep going deeper into Castle Oblivion even though he knew that the castle was taking apart his memories? Because he had one thing left: the fake, implanted memory, which told him that in order to save someone, he needed to push on no matter the personal cost.
So the real question is: are the time travellers coming back to the Inbetween because they want to, or because they no longer have a choice?
It regards all the different Karls with such... distant affection, too. “How beautiful,” it calls them, for wandering the blank halls with blank stares and blank hearts, none of which react to each other. It says that they “choose” to walk the halls, uncover mysteries, and tell stories. But what was the other choice? Was it really a choice at all?
Hmm.
Karl goes on to explore, and finds another book that does not have a wither rose pot, which tells him he has to go Under The Tree.mp3 and informs him that he “can’t afford not to”. Cool. Not ominous at all.
He finds another, which says the same thing.
Definitely not ominous. /s
The phrasing here is interesting, because it’s also phrased like a threat. Usually, when someone tells you that you “can’t afford not to”, you’re either looking at a scam or at the business end of a weapon. But the empty pages tell you that the author is trying to keep it down low. That’s one of the ways Minecraft players have found to express tone in the very limited form of Minecraft books, and it works splendidly.
Tumblr media
Not to push my DreamXD agenda, but like... the door was iron. Iron doors are a weakness for Dreams and dreamons and, mayhaps, Dream’s dreamon.
I know it’s probably just because the iron door keeps in line with the color palette of the build but let me dream, alright.
Anyway, book content! And an interesting point of order: there is a wither rose pot. I said earlier that it might be an indicator of the Inbetween as an author, but that doesn’t make much sense now, does it? This is meant to be a place hidden from the “it” that I assume to be either the Inbetween itself or the one/s controlling it.
So why the wither rose pot inconsistency?
Unless it doesn’t mean that. Unless it’s just a metaphor for, say, memories withering away or something. Or maybe it’s just a pretty plant, for funsies! Who knows. If I had to guess, I’d say that (after much reflection) it’s likely less a mark of author and more a theme of, mm, memory status. The withering away of memories. It fits in with the Inbetween, because that’s what might be responsible for it, but the author/s of the book aren’t immune, either. They get blinks of clarity, with the hidden, tucked-away tomes, but they might not be completely free.
The next book, however, again lacks the wither rose pot. It might not be a coincidence that the one without the potential mark of a withering memory is the one that actually divulges some more information.
Tumblr media
This book goes into slightly more detail about the warning, though not about whatever actual threat it is that the castle (which... Castle Oblivion, you know) presents.
It says that 1) it’s not what it seems, 2) the "truth about the other forms of you”, 3) this place “is not okay”, and 4) get in that portal we saw that was blocked off before.
We know that the Inbetween isn’t what it seems, but the “truth” about the other forms... Hm. This is, in fact, another Kingdom Hearts Thing. There’s a running joke that everyone on the very large cast of characters in KH that in the end, every person is actually either secretly a version of the antagonist (through possession or body splitting or whatever), or a version of the protagonist (through similar concepts). Multiple bodies and other forms is definitely a Thing in KH, though it’s not as oh-god-not-again definitely-bad as the sleeping thing.
I think the other forms have either become reliant on the Inbetween or have forgotten everything but the Inbetween, or both. Maybe more of the prior, since the warning is against trusting the place.
Tumblr media
And, uh, this? Fucking terrifying. I love it to pieces.
Every single one of these books has a wither rose pot, and this is kind of why I think that the Inbetween or its master/s is, in some way, possibly functioning via routines and like... an AI. Or a genius loci kind of thing.
But good news, there aren’t 13 books, there are 14! This is important for Kingdom Hearts reasons, because Kingdom Hearts has a big thing about the numbers 13 and 7 (13 is the number of pieces of darkness, and 7 is the number of pieces of light, and this is equal somehow, don’t question it).
Now, 14 is an important meme number in the MCYT fandom, of course, but I don’t think it has terribly too much to do with the lore beyond a fun easter egg.
The books themselves trying to tell c!Karl to, essentially, go with the flow and the path that the Inbetween has set up for him is... something. I like the idea that it’s some future version of something trying to stop something from happening, but we all know it’s probably not going to work. Fun times.
Tumblr media
And finally, this.
The Inbetween is a bit of a narcissist, huh? It won’t shut up about how it’s so pretty and irresistible and the whole definition of, like, a honey trap. Oh my god it even describes it as ~mysterious~ as a good trait, that’s hilarious.
More pertinently, it also calls the Inbetween “a time traveller’s dream”.
A time traveller’s. Dream.
Again, not to push my DreamXD agenda, BUT—
But! Getting back on track, the book expresses its eagerness to see Karl again, says their relationship is gonna be great, reminds him that his stories are important, and then tells him that he needs the Inbetween/author just like the SMP needs him.
Uh. He’s going to need the Inbetween?
Hello?
Why? How? So far it’s presented itself as being pretty and perfect but it never said anything about necessity! What’s going on!
Very much reminded of how Castle Oblivion was presented as “you need to keep going in even though it takes your memories away because there’s someone you need to save [fake but you don’t know that because you don’t remember anything]”, and I am afright.
Talk about subtle strings being tugged at here. I’m really seeing the beginning seeds of a dependency thing being sown, and if it weren’t for the side books painting giant neon warning signs everywhere, I don’t know if it would’ve caught on. An artificially cultivated concept of how important and great the Inbetween is, and don’t you just want to take all those stories from that messy world elsewhere but come back here in the end to take a break and exist and explore and oh, isn’t the Inbetween great, isn’t it wonderful?
Man, c!Dream wishes he was this good at subtle manipulation.
tldr; there are multiple authors trying to tug c!Karl in different directions via those books. The Kingdom Hearts parallels predict that his memory will be at stake, and he might not be able to escape without help.

Hi! Have you played the game Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey ? The game follows an amnesiac young girl (the protagonist who is controlled by the player) that is brought to a dilapidated castle called Gentlehaven. The character that the player controls may have the appearance customized by the player and that protagonist has no official name. Do you think Mc/Yuu (Twisted Wonderland) could be that character? Or her children? Your writing is wonderful, you are very creative and talented.
Tumblr media
So quick disclaimer I've never actually played the game but while I was reading through the game summary I came up with this theory
-- I doubt that Yuu/MC from TW is the child of the princess, instead, I'd be more certain that Yuu is the princess (I know Yuu is gender-neutral but I'm factoring that out for now) In a way it would make sense, assume that the "princess" got transported into the "Disney" world when they were rather young (between 8-10) she met the five princesses went on adventures with all of them than got transported back home. Flash forward a few years where the "princess" is now in her teenage years, she (yet again) gets transported to the "Disney" world only this time the place looks completely different. That's because, while only 6 to 7 short years have passed for her, literal centuries have passed in the "Disney" world. Now the "princess" currently going by Yuu has somehow convinced herself that the magical world she went to as a child was all part of her imagination, it wasn't real, it couldn't be real and even if it was, there is no way in hell that this messed up world is the happy go lucky place she visited. Since Yuu was so young, she also wouldn't really remember the princess or their stories....that is until she meets the twisted wonderland boys and their similar actions spark subconscious memories. That would explain how Yuu has such vivid dreams of the Disney characters without having ever seen the moives.--
....Then I read the ending where the "princess" was actually from the Disney world herself and was the long lost princess of Gentlehaven. SO as you can tell the theory quickly disbanded....but that got me thinking. "What if there is a person from a parallel world (where Disney doesn't exist) who has the ability to jump to different dimensions, more specifically going from their world to the Japanese Disney universe."
Quick side note: I'm going to say (and use) the Japanese Disney universe because games and franchises such as Kingdom Hearts, Disney tsum tsum, and twisted wonderland don't exist in the Disney canon of America (at least I don't think so). BUT I wouldn't be surprised if they all exist in the complete canon of the Japanese version of Disney (meaning that in twisted wonderland the idea of key blades, heartless and tiny four-legged characters similar to classic characters exists. Also excluding Marvel and Star wars from this theory)
Now in kingdom hearts union cross, we play as a character who suddenly wakes up in Daybreak Town with no idea who they are or how they got here. That's when they meet a cat named Chirithy (who reminds me of Grim) who tells them that they have the power to wield a key like sword called a Key blade and that they have to rid the world of the "darkness". While they embark on their journey to defeat the darkness and slay the heartless they come across multiple Disney characters and their respective worlds (that are kinda just like neighboring countries considering how easily they go from to the other) which include Snow-white, Aladdin, Hercules, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Tangled and Sleeping beauty. Now at night when the player falls asleep, they start having rather vivid dreams of either current events or passed events most of which consists of (I'm pretty sure) seven hooded figures.
Tumblr media
In a way, the player from Kingdom hearts and Yuu kind have a similar power set. The ability to have dreams that can almost predict the future or see into the past, some times both. So this made me draw a wired connection "what if they are similar because they are the same person!" I think that in the universe in which most Japanese Disney games are set; there are two worlds, one world that's identical to ours but without any sort of Disney franchise existing and another where Disney is that world. Now in the first world, there is a child who somehow develops a sort of power to be able to transport from their world to the other world. Granted they can't control this power, it seems to act on its own, transporting them to the other world when the other world is in dire need of help. Now I believe that once when the player was very little somewhere between the age of 5-8 they get transported to the neighboring world and met the Disney princess/princes/sidekicks/Villians, generally speaking, they become good friends with the "good guys" but when there is no immediate threat they get sent back home. Every time that they return to their world they lose a big chunk their memory of the "Disney World". They think it was all a make-believe dream or a figment of their imagination. Despite everything they still have distinctive recollections of the occasions that occurred but only in their sub-conscience.
Now sometime in the future, "Yuu" gets transported to the "Disney World" again only this time years have passed and an evil known as the "darkness" is plaguing the world. The Disney characters (or most of them) seem to remember Yuu. I say this because in the game (Union cross) characters like Alice, Cinderella, Hades, and Hercules says vague things that make it seem like they knew the character or at least had met them prior to the game. Other characters such as Snow while, Aladdin, and Rapunzel all seem to automatically trust the player despite claiming to have "just met them". Now, this could just be fan service or a way to move the plot along quicker. But I think it was deliberately placed so that we as the player get the feeling that not only have we met these characters before, but they too, vaguely remember us for some reason or another. Now the same thing repeats, "Yuu" helps subdue the current threat, says a heartwarming goodbye, gets conveyed back home, ends up thinking it was a crazy dream, and then continues to have random dreams about their time as a keyblade wielder.
Tumblr media
All this finally brings us to the "current" timeline. Where for "Yuu" only a few years have passed until they are 16-17 but hundreds of years have gone by for the "Disney World" this time Yuu's power could have activated when they were close to a mirror making them think that it was the mirror that transported them rather than their own power (which they have also forgotten) in twisted wonderland (the current name of the Disney world) overblots have become a hazard and like always Yuu is the only one who can knock sense into the characters and restore order. This time every little thing the boys do triggers Yuu's memory about what the older villains and heroes did, giving them a headstart as they can kind of predict exactly what the boys will do before they do them. Maybe their stay will be longer because after the overbolt threat is dealt with, there may be a threat from royal sword academy.
Never the less eventually Yuu would once again return home, once more forgetting most of what happened in NRC, and only coming back years later after every one of their new friends are dead or don't remember them.
Honestly, this is kinda sad, imagine spending so much time in another world, a better world, where magic and adventure exist. You make amazing friends, friends that you can never quite remember but who haunt your every dream. Every time you're resent to this mystical world so much time has passed that whoever you once knew is dead, doesn't remember you or is in some sort of life or death situation. I'm actually starting to feel very bad for Yuu, poor kid.
Okay a part of me really wants to make a blog dedicated to making theories about Twisted wonderland (and maybe some other games like KH, hypnosis mic, Obey me and argonavis)
Anyone else wants to share their two cents on this matter? Or their own theories?

Dark Fate – Kou Mukami (Ecstasy Prologue) + CG
Tumblr media
[Maniac Epilogue]  [Ecstasy Pro]  [Ecs 01]  [Ecs 02]  [Ecs 03]  [ Ecs 04 ] [ Ecs 05] [Ecs 06 ]  [Ecs7]  [Ecs 8 ] [Ecs 9]  [Ecs 10]  [Ecstasy Epilogue]
Place: 森 / Forest
Tumblr media
Yui: (Certainly they are chasing after us…!)
Kou: M-neko chan, this way!
Yui: Y- yes!
*After a while*
Yui: Haah...hah…!
Kou: M-neko chan...are you okay?
Yui: Yeah...what about you? Doesn’t your injury hurt?
Kou: Not at all. It’s nothing so you can get relieved.
Yui: I am glad…
Kou: But at this rate...no good.
Because of the lunar eclipse, my sensation skills have weakened, so I can’t say where the bullets are coming from.
Shit, who the hell called hunters or whatever in the demon world…!
Yui: (Vampire hunters...they’re obvious enemies to Kou kun, I think.)
(I bet he’s much scared of them. Even when the ancestors (founders) attacked, he was calmer than this.)
Kou: ...Ah, sorry. I have...lose self-control.
Yui: Don’t care about it. More than that, who are called vampire hunters?
Kou: Vampire hunters are the people who follow orders of the Church and they’re demon-killers.
Typically, their main work is to get rid of the demons who’ll peak at the human world.
Yui: (Then, they should rarely come to the demon world…)
(Who summoned them here actually?)
Kou: Even also, those who aim to target the vampires by using bullets made of silver, are also called vampire hunters.
Normally, there shouldn’t be any reason to escape but...damn!
(Lunar eclipse...it feels so different than usual)
Kou: Anyway, for these hunters, we have to 一
Yui: ...Kou kun, just now
Kou: They’re close…
Yui: (What should we do...at this point)
Kou: It can’t be helped, if so then getting despaired is the only choice.
Yui: What are you planning to do?
Kou: I’ll do this..!!
*The forest is burning*
Tumblr media
Yui: (Just by snapping the fingers, the forest gets...fire!)
What...the fire gets spreading widely.
Kou: I don’t know whether it will resist them or not but, it should be enough to protect us.
 一 Come’on , let’s go by this chance.
Yui: Yes…!
*After sometimes*
Place: Forest
Yui: Haah haah…
*Gun shoots*
Kou: Ugh…!
Yui: (We’re keep running, but vampire hunters are still after all…!)
Kou: Expectedly, that wasn’t enough to stop them huh…!
Yui: (Now we’ll eventually get caught by the fire...Kou kun will)
Kyaa…!
*Screen shakes*
Kou: M-neko chan!
Yui: Haah...haah...haa...I- I am fine...I got swayed a little...just that…
Kou: Kh….
Yui: (My leg got twisted. But...if I don’t stand up and run then)
I’m sorry Kou kun. I’m okay...so let’s hurry.
Kou: Place your arms at my neck, hold on.
Yui: I- I am fine...kh!
Tumblr media
Kou: Just listen and embrace me. I don’t wanna hurt you where I’m aware of it, Please.
Yui: ...got it.
Kou: Hold me tightly okay?
Yui: (I ended up being a bother to him...even though, right now, he’s the one to face hard times)
Place: 洞窟 / Cave
Tumblr media
Kou: I’ll lower your hand now, be careful.
Yui: Thank you….what’ll we do hereafter?
If they find us here, we can’t escape anymore.
Kou: Gh….
Yui: What’s wrong...kou kun?
Kou: It’s fine now.
Yui: Fine...what?
*Fades to CG as he shows a knife*
Tumblr media
Kou: Hold this.
Yui: ...Knife? Why are you telling me to...hold this...why?
Kou: If I’m going to die like this, then I want to be ended up by your hands.
Yui: …...kh!!
Kou: Please!!
Yui: I can’t...something like.
Kou: Yui, it’s something I’m requesting.
Yui: NO…! You told us to be together forever….!!
Kou: We’re together. I am forever and ever, by your side.
If you are my blue sky then I’m your blue sky too. So, you can say it by looking up.
I am always with you.
Yui: No….!! I absolutely can’t take your life like this…!!
I am alive, because you’re with me. And that’s the way I have chosen to live all the way…!
(With a knife...I can’t do it!)
NO... absolutely NO!
Kou: The end of a vampire's long life is the beginning of celebration, that’s what Ruki kun said.
With this, I can vanish this cursed body. It’s not something to be sad like humans.
Tumblr media
Yui: Kou kun, you’re not cursed!
Kou: ……
To be struck by bullets...and get beaten, I can’t die like this where I’m cursed!
Yui: …...gh!
Kou: Atleast, at the moment I’ll die, I want to...pass away by watching my life as my pride.
When I’ll think you love me...I’d like to get dissolved in the sky.
Yui: Kou kun…
Kou: Please.
*Takes the knife*
Yui: (Is it really the end…? Isn’t there any other way?)
(He said, if I kill him then...it will be the most blessed thing for him?)
(If it’s the most important wish for my lover then...I will) (1)
*CG Fades as someone holds Kou*
Kou: ...Kh!
Tumblr media
Yui: (There’s a shadow...behind Kou kun!)
Kou: …….Good evening, hunter san.
Yui: (He’s pointing the gun to Kou kun’s head...kh)
Kou: I am sorry if you are in a hurry. I am in the middle of something important. Won’t you wait a little?
???: Put down that knife.
Yui: (This voice...this face)
Kou: Come on...hurry up.
Yui: (Don’t tell me this person’s called vampire hunter…)
No way, why…
???: No, this voice….Yui!?
Yui: Dad...why!!
Kou: ….You just said, Dad!?
Yui: Dad, stop it, don’t do something terrible to Kou kun! Please!
Seiji: ……
Yui: This person is different, he’s not a bad vampire...so please.
Seiji: There’s nothing good or bad about vampires.
Yui: Dad…!!
Seiji: We humans and vampires are incompatible. No way, I can allow any co-existence.
Yui: You’re wrong...it’s not like that! I have always known Kou kun!
Tumblr media
Seiji: It’s not a consideration of humans. Whatever...your body appearance or figure is, you’re already a vampire.
Yui: (Father is...pointing gun at me. Is he about to kill two of us together…!)
Kou: ...Hey you. I’m the one who’s your target. Hurry up and settle it.
But, can’t you let go of this girl? I know your thoughts but she's a human.
If you kill her, then you’ll be a human murderer. Since, the same goes for killing a vampire, you don’t have to commit so many sins.
Seiji: I don’t need your instructions, vampire! I am the one to decide what I will do.
一一 This is my daughter.
Kou: Parents are said to be on their children’s side!? How can you call yourself a parent at this point!!
Seiji: ………*angry sigh*
Yui: (Kou kun told me that he doesn't know his parents…)
(I thought that my dad will be by my side until the end, I’ll be by his side till the end...but)
(To dad, I am almost the same as a vampire now...someone who has to be killed…!)
Seiji: It’s useless to talk any further.
Kou: Hhh….
Yui: Dad…!
Seiji: 一一 Farewell, vampires.
Yui: …...kh!
???: Do ya’ think it’s so easy!!
*Stabs Seiji and falls*
Tumblr media
Seiji: Gh…!!
Kou: Yuma kun…!!
Yuma: Goddamn! Hurry and go away!!
Azusa: Hurry up and go….!
Yui: Azusa kun…!
Yuma: GOO!!
Kou: Got it...thank you!
Azusa: Don’t try to come back…
Yui: Y- yes!
*They run*
Azusa: I’m glad...they’re safe…
Tumblr media
Yuma: We gotta make our gateway too! The gun’s that crap man is holding, snatch all of ‘em!!
Azusa: Yes…!
*On the other side*
Place: Forest
Yui: (Yuma and Azusa have come to help us…!)
(Knowing that they will be facing danger, they still helped us to run...be fast and we have to escape far away!)
Kou: Even though I thought it was the end…
Even though I abandoned Lord Karl Heinz...Yuma, Azusa…
Yui: (They also decided Kou kun to be the most precious...they helped him)
(I’m happy just like I’m for myself)
(We have to cool down and get to a safe place. Also for rewarding the feelings they showed us)
Place: ???
Tumblr media
Yui: Where is...this?
Kou: ...I don’t know as well. We ran like crazy, we made a wrong approach for this.
Yui: A big castle…..is there anyone?
Kou: Anyway, let’s see what happens entering there. It doesn’t seem like there’s a place for hiding.
Yui: Yeah...you’re right. If we explain the circumstances, they may let us have shelter.
*They enters*
Tumblr media
Kou: There’s no sign of presence...neither are any vampires’.
Yui: (Then, whose castle….?)
Kou: I don’t smell any scent of others, also it doesn’t seem like any dangerous place.
Let’s be here for a while.
Yui: ...Yes.

The NaruSaku post
@perfectkidalienpatrol asked me a two questions a couple weeks ago one about restructuring Kingdom Hearts DDD and 3 to be more emotional which you find right here < [it took time, please read. Also leave a reply on this one because it also took way too much time. Thank you 😅]
The second question is about how I would write NaruSaku, which is this post. [I rewatched 60 percent of Naruto Shippuden for this. I’m not playing games here.]
I’m gonna follow the same rules I did for KH more or less. I’m not changing 90% of any major events just certain people surrounding it and I’ll add stuff that’s not unreasonable. Most of the things I’m about to say is gonna be from Sakura’s perspective since Naruto is already in love with her and have a good of his feelings towards her. I’d also like to take a moment and say I’m a person who doesn’t believe Sakura is weak or useless, but she’s sorely underused. What makes this bad is her screen time is almost always to make others around her have more of an effect or her doing something stupid because plot. Okay, let’s get the big stuff out of the way first that lays the ground work.
Part 1 of Naruto is unchanged. (Rip Sakura, she’s still of no use here.)
The start of Shippuden, all the way up to Pain is basically the same. The thing about NaruSaku is there’s plenty of ground work in the show. The series definitely shows Sakura warming up and caring about Naruto in a variety of ways. The entire blueprint is there, Kishimoto just decided to go with Hinata.
During the Rasenshuriken training, Kakashi grabs the food pill basket from Sakura and tells her stay. Since Naruto’s training is more trial by fire and repetition, Kakashi uses his free time to train Sakura. Combat, a little ninjitsu, even tricks about genjutsu and things he’s learned about sharingan. (You know, sensei stuff)
Neji will live for obvious reasons.
Okay, so my whole thought process really starts at the point in the show where Sakura falsely tells Naruto that she loves him. At this point, the show has given tons of scenes of Sakura healing Naruto, defending the way he is, acknowledged his growth, and has him as a strong motivator do whatever she can whenever she can. All while being emotionally torn because of her love for Saskue and being faced with the reality that Naruto has been in love with her forever. The scene plays out the same with Naruto not believing her and the Saskue murder team leaving. Sakura doesn’t let it show she is deeply conflicted about telling that lie. Was it a lie? It certainly wasn’t completely truthfully. Her thoughts and feelings on Naruto had been rapidly changing and confusing her little by little since he returned to the village. All she was certain of was that Naruto was a person that had become very important to her and she didn’t want to cause him any more suffering.
Fast forwarding to Sakura encountering Saskue, the encounter is only different by Sakura confessing her honest feelings to him right on the iron bridge, telling him how she’ll join his side if he can’t find it in himself to stop being a criminal. She’s unknowingly under a genjutsu that’s letting Sakura see him in front of her, pretending to care about this conversation while he’s actually about to chidori her from behind. Sakura catches on to the trick a bit too late but was fortunately saved by Kakashi. Naruto eventually shows up, the fight happens, and we get the scene where Naruto tells Saskue that they well both die the next time they fight. Two very important things come out of this entire event. The first is Sakura’s feelings for Saskue are now shattered after he tried to kill her twice, while the other thing is Sakura’s fear of Naruto’s prediction coming true.
We get back to the village and everyone starts going their separate ways except for Naruto and Sakura, because she tells him to stay back for a moment. She takes this moment to apologize to him for what she said. The guilt about the entire thing builds more and more as she continues her apology until Sakura gets so frustrated with her own actions, or lack of action. Naruto interrupts her apology before she got too far gone into self loathing and sorrow and tells her that it’s okay. Yes, his promise is a big reason for motivating him but Naruto is also in it for himself and tries to lift some of the guilt Sakura has for all of this. In the process he ends up mentioning just how much she actually does for everyone, especially him; which only makes her feel more conflicted about everything since all of his feelings are on the table clearly for her. Sakura mentally decides she having such a kind person like him always supporting her was something she wasn’t close to being worthy of, so she would strive to be that person. Sakura decides to do one more selfish act though, she asks Naruto to stay alive through all of this. Naruto simply looks at the girl that is clearly concerned about all of this and says yes, despite not knowing just how sure he can keep this promise.
At this point in the anime there’s a lot of war preparations. In one scene there’s Sakura looking at photos of the gruesome tragedies that she should expect to see as a medical ninja. A head nurse also explains how sometimes you have to prioritize who to save. Sakura then thinks to herself in a crazy circumstance where both Naruto and Saskue are fatally wounded, who would she rush to? I’m keeping this scene but giving it new context. This thought plagues her mind not because of love, but because desire. Sakura hates to admit it but she still very much hates the idea of Saskue dying. Like Naruto, she very much wants him to come back, regardless of the heartache she feels whenever she thinks about the boy who barely gave a damn. But Sakura also has made the goal to do all she can to support Naruto the right way and the thought of leaving him to die is ludicrous. Sakura shakes off the crazy thought and focuses on the task at hand. None of those ideas matter if she can’t get stronger. I like the idea of her hitting a rut someone like Ino or Shizune coming to her aid since Tsunade is busy. One of the women reinvigorates her drive by telling Sakura how Naruto is probably pushing himself to the limit as they speak. [Nine tails is beating him up] Not just for his friends, but for the world. Sakura takes that to heart, protecting everyone is the bar, not just Naruto and her friends. Sakura decides now would be a good time and take a step back, going off to train by herself until it was actually time to head into war. Kakashi would personally be the one to get her when that time came, surprised to see a very specific part of their previous training had gotten much better along with her chakra control.
On the Naruto side of things, all the same events happen. The only thing I would add for my own personal amusement would be Naruto mentioning Sakura to his mom and how they’re similar, but Sakura has no interest in him. Kushina laughs and tells him if Sakura really is anything like herself then Naruto can’t be too sure of anything until it happens. He doesn’t understand that all but nods anyways.
War starts! All the cool fights happen and the filler. All of this is same obviously because so much is going on, including injuries. Naruto eventually joins the war and sends his clones to help everywhere. The location where Sakura is stationed is under severe condition, to the point it’s about to fall apart. Injured ninja and attacks have relentlessly assaulted the place in one form or another and the medics are running on fumes. Sakura herself is barely hanging on as another wave of injured people are in desperate need of healing. Supplies are diminished to almost nothing, staff has gotten hurt, and more white zetsu were said to be headed their way. Sakura took a moment to look at the chaos of war. The overwhelming feeling of it, the pain, how everything just kept going until something gave out. She was about to give out. Her body exhausted from being up for days treating people was finally catching up with her mind in thinking about shutting down, until she thought about Naruto. She wasn’t sure why she did, but he popped into her head, as well as the numerous times he’s pushed passed the breaking point to the finish line. Then she remembered his praise about her and her vow to catch up with him. Not yet, she couldn’t be done yet. Not while there was still everyone to protect. Sakura rallied the people she could to both attack and defend what they had left. Somehow, through all the madness, the injured had been treated and another wave was taken out. More had to be done and all who were able to move were more than willing to help the ninja that had saved their life. Unfortunately, a zetsu had snuck into the ranks and was heading right for Sakura who was far to tired to defend herself from the attack she saw coming. If she got hurt then it was game over for this unit and her, now that they had basically nothing. Sakura should’ve died on the spot but a Naruto clone had finally arrived in the nick of time, beating the zetsu in an instant. Sakura couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Her body gives out and Naruto catches her in a similar way Minato catches Kushina. Naruto tells everyone how awesome it was that they held out so long and they rightfully give Sakura a majority of the credit. Naruto starts to tell her how amazing that is but she passes out. He simply chuckles and tells all of them to follow her lead. He’ll step in now and let them rest. It’s his turn to protect everyone.
The next time the show cuts back to this location is when reports of Naruto clones suddenly vanishing after many tremors and explosions have happened, giving Sakura an uneasy feeling. Minutes later word reaches them that the real Naruto is fighting the masked man and Madara. Many ninja from everywhere go ready to race off to this final battle. Sakura’s had the chance to rest and is ready to give her all in any way she can, along with so many others.
[Cool shit happens! The allied shinobi force appears!]
Neji gets injured protecting Hinata and Naruto, bringing him right to deaths door and nobody is around to help him. Naruto looks around to see all the death and destruction that leads to Obito into giving his speech. So basically I just changed this scene from Neji being dead, to Neji dying and having to be left there; causing everyone to simply accept that they have to press on and that Neji isn’t going to make it. We still get the moment of Hinata snapping Naruto out of despair and Kakashi’s elaboratetion on his meaning behind the statement “I will not allow my comrades to die.” That way we still get Kurama motivating Naruto, causing Naruto to snap Lee out of his despair and then outcome plays out like it usually does; the people rallying to attack the ten tails again with the Nine Tails Power given to them. Naruto spends up all his chakra protecting everyone and gets badly injured. I had forgotten Sakura literally gave a speech to motivate ninja to do their best protecting him while she healed him, so that was nice to see.
The Hokage show up. People are hyped. Minato asks Naruto if that’s his girlfriend, to which Naruto says yes like the goofy fool he is. Sakura still hits him for it, but blushes. Minato clearly sees a lot of Kushina in Sakura, but says vocally, instead of in his head. Naruto thinks about his conversation with his mom. Sakura just tries to stay focus.
Tiny Rant-I can’t wrap my head around why this scene actually exists. This happens after Neji’s death, a cornerstone event that pushes NaruHina greatly. Why would Kishimoto almost immediately swing back in the exact opposite direction! It paints the picture that while Naruto is extremely grateful for Hinata’s actions, Sakura is still the only girl he is interested in! Neji died for NaruHina like five minutes ago!
Saskue shows up like a cool guy. We get the moment of Naruto telling Sakura to stay back after he’s fully healed; to which Sakura tells both of them how that’s not gonna happen. Team 7 is back! Another moment I don’t have to change because the show flat out shows how happy Sakura is to be standing next to the two most important men her life. She’s by their side and fighting, they don’t feel out of reach. Sakura has her team back for once and is protecting everyone thanks to Tsunade’s training. Finally, things feet right. Until they don’t.
The battle progresses naturally. Eventually the Kagoshima show up, Obito becomes a Jinjuriki, Madara is being terrible, etc. Things are spiraling out of hand pretty quickly but everyone keeps pushing as hard as they can. Then the worst happens, the crazy scenario Sakura didn’t think was possible has suddenly became reality. She feels both Naruto and Saskue’s chakra fade away, they’re down. Madara has taken both of them down. However, now isn’t time to despair on that fact. Every second matters. Two people, fatally injured, only enough time save one. The one she promised to protect to protect, or the one she desired to come back home. Time feels like it’s come to a stand still. Sakura didn’t want to imagine a world without either of them, then it hits her instantly. Sakura has been living in a world without Saskue for years now, but Naruto, the agony of a world without him gives her an immense sorrow in her heart she refused to ever feel again. It was the same sorrow she felt when Saskue left that night years ago. The sorrow of the one you love leaving you. Sakura realizes that she does in fact love Naruto, and she isn’t about to let it fade. She will keep her promise. Sakura rushes to go save him, fearing she’s wasted enough time as it is. In actually, Sakura had made that decision in less than second. She had been running his way the moment his chakra stopped.
With the help of Gaara and Minato, Sakura is managed to save Naruto. Minato has been watching the worry the girl tried to hide and stared again how much she was like Kushina. He then thanks her for looking after his son. Sakura corrects him, giving Minato thanks for bringing someone who cares so much about her and support her into this world, despite the many slip ups and pain she has inflicted on Naruto. Minato tells her that he didn’t have to be around long to know his son must feel same sentiment towards her, if not greater. They get informed that Saskue has been recovered and receiving medical aid. Sakura feels a weight lift from her shoulders. Both of them, she still in a world with both of them.
[More craziness happens! Night Guy!!!!!! All the hype stuff!]
Naruto and Saskue are back in action! Naruto save Guy, then he gives Kakashi an eye. Everyone is impressed, but not as impressed as the moment he senses that Neji isn’t dead yet and heals him to the point he’ll live; Neji is still completely out of commission though, but it’ll be quite the surprise for Hinata, her father, and Team Guy.
More of the same stuff happens all the way up and through Kaguya. Sakura gets a little bit of emotional whiplash by Saskues actions. One minute he’s looking out for himself, the next he’s actually saves her from a threat. It’s a very confusing couple of minutes. It’s welcomed though, it’s like old times. Things just might get back to some since of it in Sakura’s eyes.
Tumblr media
[He is so rude! Still love him though.]
Now we’re gonna skip to after Kaguya is beaten. Team 7 has saved the world. Now they just have to release the people, except Saskue is still on his nonsense. Naruto confronts Saskue about his plan to kill the Kage. Sakura could feel her heart sink. They were going to fight again. If that happened then Naruto’s prediction might come true, they would die. Naruto would die. Sakura couldn’t stand still and ran in between the two unexpectedly. Sakura pleaded to Saskue to just stop for once in his life. That if he ever cared about her and Naruto in any form, then the fighting would stop here; reminding him of what Naruto said about dying. Saskue takes a step closer and Sakura’s tearfully eyes hardened. This wasn’t going to be like last time. Sakura wasn’t going to hesitate to use force and Saskue could tell. “You really are annoying.” He says before activating a genjutsu, but it doesn’t work on her. This was it, the exact thing her training with Kakashi and by herself had been about. Constant days of intense chakra control and being trapped in various visual genjutsu that Sakura had to learn resist/breakout of. Saskue had made his answer clear, but Sakura refused to let him dismiss her like that and charged at him. She knew she was outmatched. She knew that there was only so much she could actually do against him, but that wasn’t going to stop her from trying. Sakura was going to stand up properly to Saskue and give everything she had to prevent an unavoidable fight. The fire in her was immense, but the fight was over in no time, ending with Saskue knocking her out from behind like when he first left her behind. Naruto was pissed and Kakashi rushed to her. All that effort and pleading from someone who wanted nothing more than to be by her comrades, tossed to the side like a leaf in the wind. The final confrontation had begun. Naruto vs Saskue.
[One exceptional fight 10/10 fight later]
Sakura has woken up and is racing to the Final Valley in absolute terror, along with Kakashi behind her. He didn’t show it but he was fearing the worst as well. He could see tears fly off of Sakura as she took off. Her mind was flooding and rejecting thoughts all at once the whole way there. All she wanted was the reality of the outcome. Whatever it was, she’d have to face it. What she faced was a miracle. The ability to save both of her friends who were definitely battered and broken, but alive. The fighting was finally over. Saskue apologized to her, noticing just how angry she stil was through her tearfully relieved expression. Sakura told him to shut up. The emotional rollercoaster she was dealing with was crazy enough as it is.
Fast forward to Team 7 at the Hidden Leaf Gate to see Saskue leave. Instead of Sakura asking to join, she walks up to him with confidence, giving both a playful and serious attitude. She holds her fist out and taps his chest. “Get into trouble and I’ll stand in your way again to knock the sense back into you.” Naruto’s jaw drops hearing that. Saskue smile then flicks her forehead. “Still annoying, thank you.” Sakura can’t help but smile back. Naruto gives Saskue his old headband and then the man sets off.
Naruto lets out a huge sigh as he walks back into the village with Sakura. He feels exhausted from the whole legal experience but there was more things to be done, but first, he was starving. He started waving goodbye to Sakura until she asks to go too, offering to pay. Naruto was shocked. His ears had to be playing tricks. He turned back around to see Sakura not directly looking at his face but she clearly talking to him. He could tell her face was a little pink too. “You know, like a date...” Sakura said, walking past him. Naruto stood motionless for a couple of seconds before catching up with her. “How about we go halfies?” Naruto asked. He had asked this same question when he asked her on a ramen date so long ago. Sakura remembers this and can’t help but giggle. The fact that she had rejected such a gesture before was embarrassing to say the least, now it was too her benefit and it was still dumb. The more things change, the more they stay the same. “It’s a date.”
The the tail end of the show where time skips gives us how they continued to grow closer and do these little dates until the moment Sakura tells Naruto that she loves him one moonlit night by the training field or academy swing. This time those words are real, and Naruto gets emotional because he finally gets to say those words back, their promises fulfilled. The final episode is their marriage. The start of their new and strongest promise to each other.
There, I’m done. In summary, what if Sakura stopped liking a person because they tried killing her and everyone she cared about. You know, sane people stuff. She’s a smart girl with critical thinking skills and able to blossom in many areas in her life, and yet the series didn’t let her fully exlpore or evolve it in the one area that arguably mattered the most. How her relationships with Naruto and Saskue. They left it one note even though many scenes and articles point into the direction of her affection towards Naruto was growing. They even paralleled her with Kushina. It’s so weird to lay all that ground if that isn’t the route. Those moments of romantic growth could’ve gone to Hinata, the one with nearly zero interaction throughout the series. I can only think of four scenes, two of them being in part 1 of Naruto. It’s weird.
Side note:If anyone is having a hard time believing Sakura could learn a way to resist genjutsu, Deidara did it with one of his eyes to deal with Itachi, and also didn’t fall of Saskue’s. You can not convince me Sakura wouldn’t learn a way, someone with far more control and an affinity for that kind of thing. Especially with the help of Kakashi. Also it’s just very thematic that the two people Saskue wanted to push away the most, could see right through him and render one of his major things useless.

oh ffs, i have feels but also head exploded
So basically someone liked a story I wrote a million years ago and mostly forgotten about, and when that happens I often reread the thing.  (I can’t be the only one who does that...) Can’t say I’ve thought about Alex/Izzie since I wrote it, couldn’t even tell you when I stopped watching the show, though I think it was before her cancer.
Anyway I infected myself with feels for them again.  And I dig the style I was using, 1+1 started a third chapter for funsies and should have stopped there.  Because I did some reading and watched some clips and it’s all too much and when that happens I meta.
Usual mishmash, structure desired but no work put into achieving it.  Classic brain dump.
Okay, fundamentals first.  I am for now ignoring how Izzie/KH left the show.  Because they had to exit her somehow and I’m sure Shonda was pissed at her, (or was leaving the door open for her return but I doubt it.)  Haven’t seen it, if I needed to I could work it into my conception of their whole arc, but since I’m more critically hung up before that point, not worrying about it.
What’s got me messed up is that RIGHT AFTER Izzie promised to not go crazy, she... went crazy.  Like, WTF was that about?  I get that GA is all about the soapy drama, that is why I stopped watching.  First couple seasons: brilliant.  Downhill from there.  But two things:
1) We never get to see these two happily together.  One hot second and bam.***  Every.  Time.  Shonda allowed it for Meredith and Derek, but in my brain other couples got it for periods of time at the least.  But these two, nope.  And know what?  THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN FASCINATING TO WATCH.  I could delve into this and might swing back around but trying to hit highlights.
2) It set them on two different storylines instead of one.  And Izzie got the short stick.  Yes I can see how it works on paper, but not on screen.  There are limits to the visual medium and limits to how much screen time they were given, which pretty much destroy the ability to nuance something this complex.
a) Izzie’s in her own world dealing with a ghost and is basically in two relationships at once (mental note to look for parallels with Alex’s exit and Jo v Izzie.)  Except one’s a dream and the other is a reality that is still developing, yet she can’t give attention to.  She has to fight every time to be there for Alex in the real world, and we don’t really get to explore her struggle.  It often just looks like distraction and distance and him being second right after she firmly laid out that she cares about him.
b) Alex is in a relationship and is super happy and excited and wants the perfection he’s dreamed about to be real so much he’s overlooking everything that’s off.  In his own little dream world I guess, but like, the whole thing skews into this being the story of Alex while Izzie is wandering in circles somewhere over in that direction, all serving the purpose of advancing exploration and development of Alex’s character.  When did KH ask to be let out?  If it was after this point, Shonda svcks.  I mean, it is cool to watch him really blossom, but since he’s doing it under his own steam I’m left with a bad taste in my mouth.  Because he’s not really in a real relationship.  I want to see him get that, I want to see it for real.
***What IS interesting, I’ll admit, is that when they’re not together, they’re beautiful.  Which is most of the time, so they gave me that.  I’m a massive fan of the bittersweet, the star crossed, the never-quite-on-the-same-page, the nuance, the “it’s a deeper connection, a deeper love than just romance.”  Thank gosh, it is time for excited thoughts.  Because there is a strong friendship and mutual reliance and helping each other grow, pushing and giving hard truths and encouragement, and yes romance is woven through this but not the genesis and used more in terms of nudging everything along the path.
I love that Alex basically imprints on Izzie.  I love that he loves her the whole time.  But he’s willing to step back.  He may get jealous and resentful and petty and scared and mean.  But those are natural human emotions, Izzie gets them too, and they’re fundamental to his character and through those things he learns and grows.  Izzie doesn’t make him.  She entices him.  Yeah, often directs him, especially at first.  But at some point he’s growing on his own, in fits and starts, in reaction to his own emotions.
For example, when Izzie tells him she slept with George, he gets pissed, but also admits why pretty readily.  And he tells her the truth, remarkably straightforwards.  He reaches out to her a lot.  And she turns him aside a lot.  And he keeps loving.  Even if romance is off the table.  He runs after her a lot.  Sits next to her when she’s upset a lot.  Is understanding a lot.  He’s different with her, and look I’m a fangirl, it’s a trope, I swallow bait line and hook.  Which should be bait hook and line if my vague understanding of fishing is correct.  I fished once, with safety implements, and still cried even as they removed the fish and popped it back into the water.  (Okay I just reread to sort out where I’d gotten too and it’s hook line and sinker.  Statistically someone will probably read this someday, you have my full permission to laugh at me.  Anyway...)
The quintessential moment, the revved to 100, of course being when Izzie is clinging to a dead Denny.  They’re all standing around.  No one even looks surprised with jilted Alex talks to her.  In a really caring way.  And this is still fairly early on, wasn’t watching anything but their scenes but this had to be rare sight eh?  (Mebbe?)  And then he picks her up and sits down holding her and she clings and cries and like symbolism and could essay that but not going to right now because the broad relevant stroke is that Alex loves Izzie selflessly.  And this is the pinpoint core of why I can buy his ending, because he can’t NOT love Izzie.  I don’t think he even wants to stop.  Though he can set it down in his heart and let her go and doesn’t pine.  But he never stops loving her and it’s so many kinds of love imperfectly yet perfecly forged.
Forged.  But also born.  Stars uncrossed.  I have emotions without words and if I try I’ll never get out of it to move on, so moving on.
(Oh, George telling Alex to talk to Izzie because she won’t talk to him about whatever it was.  Isn’t is crazy that Izzie’s emotional squishy bestie goes to the emotionally stunted bad boy to help her because...  it’s an understanding of the two-way Izzie/Alex bond, but also this crazy trust that Alex will show up.)
I love that Izzie isn’t blind to his faults, truly doesn’t like his faults, but has eternal faith for who he is and can be.  She always saw him as someone with walls, once she stumbled on a lose stone and got a glimpse inside.  She knows.  She doesn’t always understand, but she knows.
Slight divergence from that line of thought, but its a great moment when they get together and he’s fairly transparently trying to make sure they’re in a committed relationship by dangling other women in front of her, and she’s a little ticked that he seems to be taking it rudely casually.  Probably a bit of insecurity, but I’d say more that she has a long history of not reading him from the perspective of him loving her.  Ie, 100% not recognizing that telling him about sleeping with George would hurt him.  And doesn’t get it until he comes in and he’s dropped the swagger and it’s a “I know I’m doing something wrong and I don’t know how to do it right so help me” thing.
(Random memories of Sloan/Don from The Newsroom when she’s crying on the floor and Don comes in a sits next to her.  I wuvs them too.)
I love that she openly leans on him, when he offers support she takes it.  She doesn’t ask why, she accepts it and leans into it and is open to it because she trusts him because she knows him.  The bits where she hates him tend to fall out of romantic issues, but when that’s removed from the equation they’re in sync.  And the thing is, just as caring is fundamental to Alex’s nature, trust is fundamental to Izzie’s.  And those two things weave into each other.  Kinda like rats and the food button.  When Alex reaches out Izzie she honestly accepts it, a “reward.”  So he’s comfortable doing it again, and again.  And when she does rebuff him he’s seen rewards come out enough that he doesn’t just scatter.  And when Izzie trusts him, he rewards her with gentleness and care.  She has the rougher time of it overall, because Alex is more screwed up emotionally, and breaks her trust more often than she rebuffs him, but that’s where Alex’s constant love comes in.  But I cannot recall enough critical moments to have a cohesive proof, so I could be a little off base.
In my head Alex has always loved Izzie more than Izzie loves him, but I think my memory was unfair.  There is a real constancy to Izzie’s affection, though I don’t think she imprinted on Alex as he did on her.  She’s a different person, loves differently, has different issues.  But my longstanding impression is mostly because of Denny.  Who she truly did love, though the qualities of that love deserve exploration which I will not at this time attempt. And Denny loved her.   The whole “side loves along the way” being a trope.  Though usually “it ended in death/deathlike state” is given to the man and so THANK YOU SHONDA.  Thinking of classics like Jane Eyre and Rebecca though I think both were actually crazypants first wives.  And I do think female character’s side guys have a  habit of dying, but it tends to feel more like a plot point to shut the door on continued love, whereas Denny remains a part of Izzie’s life.
At any rate, despite superficial similarities, Alex doesn’t hit the trope because his crazypants relationship wasn’t ever really about the woman:  yep Alex got Rebecca, and Rebecca was crazypants, and it was a plot point to get him to the crying.  Rebecca wasn’t love. It was never love.  BUT
She DID, in every way, highlight what needed to be highlighted.  1) That he desperately wants a family.  2) that caring for someone, not just about them, is fundamental to him, (and ties neatly into him caring for Izzie all those sitting on the floor conversations.) and c) it’s not entirely healthy.  Which is ALSO why thrusting his new happy relationship with Izzie into caregiver role is insensitive and undermines the relationship because it only makes sense if we got to see them both happy in the relationship first.  And then we can see the quality of his caregiving change.  But we didn’t.  So bugger it.
I do LOVE how they let almost the whole next season play out he fallout of all that.  Something taken slowly!  We got to explore it.  Did feel a bit drawn out tbh.  But it just emphasizes the weight of it, I guess.  Especially as it was a subplot amongst 100 others.  This was their development for the season.  Which was mostly Alex.  But Izzie’s reactions revealed some things about her as well.  Majorly dancing around laying it out for a close look and I don’t know why.
Favourite moment?  Maybe Izzie putting her hand on Alex’s chest when he’s freaking out and telling him to stop, he doesn’t need to say any more.  Because he’s trying to convince her of something, and she understands.  And the trying to convince is shredding him, and she knows that.  It’s a very loving and accepting “stop.”  She’d already taken charge of the situation, for the good of the patient.  She’d already taken charge because she knew Alex couldn’t handle it, he was too deep in something to see clearly.  And she’s still in charge.  She doesn’t break down and cry for him, or try to comfort him, he’s been thrown back into childhood and PTSD might literally be at play and what he needs, and she understands, is someone he can trust, who’s calm and gentle but strong and solid, to say it’s okay.  It’s going to be okay.  You don’t have to carry this on your own.  We have it now.  Because when we’re little and in over our heads what we want and what we need is an adult to take the burden.  And still the physical contact is comforting, her tone of voice reassuring.  She creates a space where he can feel safe and heard.
Ugh, rewatching, and we’re watching him literally devolve.  Stages of grief ya’ll.  He’s using every tactic to try and get what he thinks he needs: being able to take care of Rebecca.  He’s in denial that anything is wrong.  He gets angry when Izzie grabs him, to the point of threatening to hit her (though it’s fighting words and not real threat, and Izzie totally knows that.)  He dives into bargaining.  She’ll be okay if he can take care of her.  He can do it.  He tries to convince her it’s true.
By the time he gets home it’s depression.  Not just Rebecca, but about his mom.  And Izzie approaches him differently.  In the hospital it was immediate and she was “in charge,” and needed to be in all facets, but at home, with the situation taken care of, she’s a friend.  An equal.  Which is what he needs right now.  His sticking point later is the crying, so I kinda wonder how he’d react just to having told her about taking care of his mom as a kid.  Right at the start he told that kid about his dad, (dad beating up his mom and him beating up his dad) while Izzie was within listening distance and didn’t seem fussed.  But it’s ultimately a story about him being manly and protecting his mom physically.  Which would be why it’s several seasons in before this crops up - waaay more intimate information.  Probably all lumped into one, with the crying as shorthand.  And mostly that his past is a fact, it’s his emotions he wants to keep private and deny.
He clearly did try to drown his emotions with sex.  I’m not sure it would have worked with a random girl because he’s way too close to crying to do much of anything.  And obviously doesn’t work with Izzie because sex is apparently emotional intimacy and I guess comfort for men moreso than women, but it plays out as a desperate attempt to get comfort in a safer way.  Bargaining again, I suppose.  “Have sex and will be fine tomorrow.”  But, as noted, he doesn’t get that far because it’s too heavy and he rather quickly is just sobbing.
Which is a lovely parallel to holding Izzie while she cried on him after Denny died.  Though Izzie had no qualms and no massive emotional recoil because emotions and vulnerability are normalized for females Izzie is a particularly emotional person.  And an inverse of all the times Izzie is an emotional wreck and Alex sits down besides her and offers her support and understanding.
Could also argue that Izzie just saying “I’m sorry... About Rebecca.  And your mom” - it’s an emotionally intimate moment.  Of understanding.  She’s acknowledging the two situations, and isn’t trying to do anything about them, explain or push or anything else.  Just make him feel understood and not alone and sex is the way he can respond to that.  How to process that in a way that feels manly to him?  Also notably Izzie does seem to be going with it, and it’s aborted because he starts sobbing.  And is still saying “Please” which is amazing, because he totally was never asking Izzie to just sleep with him.  He wants to make it stop - the pain, emotions, probably reliving memories.  But also... stages of grief.  He needs to feel it, so he can accept it.  He really just needs to cry, and grieve, and not be alone.
And it’s like... this is where their love story feels epic because it would look so different if they didn’t have all the levels and layers of love.  Take out the romantic/sexual aspect.  Take out the friendship.  The trust.  The family.  Take out anything and this can’t play out.
Who didn’t love moments like Alex explaining to Bernedette Peters that men sometimes need to protect their manliness in the eyes of the woman they love.  And they’ll do shit things to protect that manliness, but it’s because they care.  Which is obviously idiotic and while romantic on screen is very much not so in real life, but this is fiction so hey ho.  It’s such a wonderful foil.  Because the situation here was not that Alex took his pain elsewhere to protect Izzie’s opinion, but that Alex completely and for a long time shut Izzie out to protect his manliness, which is entirely counterproductive but the only option he could see.  He minimizes his experience as a “bad night.”  (I mean, if you remove all the adjectives, he’s not wrong.) He’s protecting his own sense of manliness to himself.  He doesn’t like feeling that vulnerable.  He let Izzie get too close.  He’s afraid.  It’s all a tangle.  And it pays off when they come back together and he’s willing to be more vulnerable, almost, and then enthusiastically, happy to be.
*But it does reference when he slept with Olivia when he failed his boards.  So yeah, he’s done it literally too.
Backing up a step to revisit season 5.  And actually they start out close.  They’re all out in the cold waiting to greet patients and Alex grabs a blanket for her.  He’s not irritated that Izzie keeps asking how he’s doing, just obviously in a bit of personal denial.  And they’re totally messing around and lighthearted and look at each other with their heads really close and it begs some questions about the interim, though I guess they just haven’t talked about it deeper than “are you okay.”  And per the Izzie/Meredith convo I guess they didn’t continue having sex (probably didn’t have sex that night either).  Though the way Izzie looks at him as he leaves, she’s totally concerned that he’s not dealing with it.
Ah yes, forgot - so they just kept his breakdown unremarked upon, the superficial checking in is situational because Rebecca is a fact.  They don’t talk about it, it’s fine.  Pretending it did not happen.  But it’s as soon as Alex thinks Izzie told Meredith about it that it goes pear shaped.  It’s funny that his issue is the crying and he’s the one that told Meredith, but thematically Izzie saying “he’s opening up to me” is sorta the same.  Also awww that even as she labels them friends, there’s this little glow inside her that they got closer.  Emotional intimacy, what’s life without it eh?
So also 100% it’s high on Alex’s mind.  That he did it, and so too that Izzie could betray him and tell others.  Their relationship is so beautifully fragile in that short interim.  It’s this little bubble where he’s okay that he was vulnerable with Izzie because she accepted it and isn’t making a big deal about it.  And he does feel super close to her.  But he can’t take anyone else seeing him in a non-manly light.  For himself, and it works in terms of Izzie too if it’s an inside/outside situation.  I’m a bit stuck and going in circles.  If Izzie tells, then Izzie isn’t taking it seriously?  Doesn’t understand him?  I don’t think he’s even angry at her, if he looks weak to others then she’ll come to see him as weak?  Halp, stuck.
Also so, I’ve seen it remarked upon that Izzie tends to forgive Alex when she maybe shouldn’t.  But part of forgiveness can come from understanding the other person.  Doesn’t have to be, especially for little stuff.  But for big stuff?
Oh, and so weird but kinda cool that right after that rather self-aware conversation with Peters, he specifically lets Izzy see him with another woman.  Were those scenes meant to be inverted?  Or is he going into this eyes wide open?  Trying to prove something?  He’s hurting her though, is it intentional?  Because cheating, by nature, is secretive, your person doesn’t know so you’re not hurting them directly, though of course when they find out it blows up.  But the intention to wound is not there, it’s an escape.  Proving that he’s really fine and back to his old self?  They are not sleeping together so this isn’t cheating.
And even after that Izzy just shrugged it off.  Popped in to tell him they maybe are getting kicked out, tries to get an apartment with him.  She’s holding on to their closeness and friendship, despite him being prickly.  And then... he smacks her or whatever they were doing which is back to flirty, and not meaningful but notably guides her out of the elevator before him.  Though her barb about STD did hit him.   Maybe he was trying to figure out how to stop being rude at her, and her continued friendliness was bufffer space until he could?  He does say hello at the end, but who was she talking to about having no one?
It does bring up an interesting insight.  It is true bout not something I thought about, that Izzie could be lonely, and actually does get as much out of their relationship as Alex ever did.  They are incredibly close.  And I think George might be married at this point, and thus no longer her “person”?
And then into the cryptic speak about them, while the father/son organ musical chair thing was happening.  He’s looking over his shoulder at her, glances up, unspoken words yadda yadda.  Follows her out into the hall when she leaves.  The freeze out is shorter than I remember, but look, they kinda always keep communicating because freeze outs do not feel right.  And I’ve moved to a blow by blow but Alex is trying to talk profession, and Izzie doublespeaks the “emotionally stunted” and he physically recoils and stutters like “yeah but no, that’s not what we’re talking about” and yet is now there and talking about them too.  “Okay, ... I”m trying to be-  I am, but this” WHAT is he trying to be/is???  Trying to not be emotionally stunted.  Is emotionally stunted (or doubling down on trying?)
This is just such a beautiful conversation.  Because Izzie IS emotional and caring but she has a mean backhand.  Pettiness, ultimatum, she can smack back as hard as anyone smacks her.  And she’s coming from a totally reasonable place, because he’s going hot and cold on her.  And you can see that it affects him, and that falls out from that same pattern where he’s trying to tell her somehing and she’s not putting in a ton of effort to figure out what he’s saying, but is focused on her own needs and thoughts.  ‘Cuz she’s hearing something like “give it up, you’re not going to get what you want out of me.”  And he’s trying to say “I’m afraid I can’t be what you need, because I svck, please don’t make me try and fail.”
And they’re convo through parallels continues, Izzie calls Alex broken and is like “okay I do it your way my caring for you is pointless and it’s all fine.”   Dad calls for son while kinda dying.  I know they claimed different thought process but didn’t Alex call for Izzie when he was shot?  And the payout from the series of exchanges: Alex is yelling at his standin to just step up and show he cares.  With a hefty does of potential regret.  It’s a 180, hoping that the kid does love his day, as well as getting emotionally invested.  His relationship with his father isn’t mentioned, not sure if it’s meant to play into this, because he has previously acknowledged that he regrets losing his father completely.
(But then 10 seconds later she’s going to go crazy and by avoiding treatment it’s kinda like trying to kill herself and just... poor taste writers, poor taste.)
Cue a moment where Izzie knows what he’s trying to say and rewards it.
Enter Izzie being a little obtuse, I know I covered this but ending my personal cannon with them getting together - Alex literally says “are we going steady.”  He’s literally saying “you tell me yes or no, and I will do that.”  Of course he’s trying to say “I don’t know if you’re serious and I want to be please clarify and reassure” but one of those literal ones should have been enough.  But then Izzie does always push him, not always intentionally, to be a little more direct, a little more vulnerable, trust her a little more.  And the result is sooooo adorable!
And brings to mind when Izzie was trying to ask him out for the first time.  And it went a tiny bit screwy and Alex flips it and asks her out.
There’s just so much awesome.  *sobs*  And there’s probably awesome in the cancer storyline too but I do not feel I can trust it and also it’s going to run full into Izzie being lame and leaving and all character development out the window?  And I DO NOT want to see her trying to come back and Alex saying No.  Because what will I see in the middle that gets them there?  They always say yes.  Eventually.  And season 16 when JC is leaving the show is a bit on the long side, even if I ignore the details of the intervening years.
Throwing everything at the wall and maybe I’ll be done with dumping or can at least refine things.  It’s the little speech I’ve only read and don’t want to hear bcause not sure how he did his line-read, but when he describes how he imagines Izzie’s life.  In how much detail, how much he wants for her, what he knows she’s capable of building.  He’s saying it to Jo and I’m uncomfortable with the idea he loves her, even if the letter to her does leak a “love you, in love with Izzie,” and I’m fine with Izzie loving Denny and don’t find it a problem Jo is still alive because I don’t see Alex going back but the thing where if he looks her in the eye he won’t return to Izzie and the kids is upsetting.  And it’s just the kids and insta-family which is enticing.  I mean, he’s not going to tell wife he’s leaving that he’s always loved his ex in a different way or anything.  But he’s also not lying.  He does mention to Meredith that he can’t go back to Seattle.  He’d stay with Jo then out of...  ?  Halp.  The best I got is he’s currently in a dream and if he goes back to his life, where he was happy, then he’ll lose the dream and it will disappear on him?
Slightly nicer is the elsewhere expressed (Meredith) idea that he’d set Izzie as unreachable.  Thus, in line with what he told Jo, he didn’t want to contact her because he didn’t want to make it worse for himself, and his happiness comparison was completely excluding himself from the possibility of being part of Izzie’s life.  It’s all happiness of them individually, not together.  But yes, he always wanted to reach out, wanted to hear her voice and he never had an excuse?  No excuse but curiousity, and that wasn’t enough to take a chance, but this was an excuse and he took it.
And the idea that he knows the right thing is to stay in Seattle, and being with Izzie and the kids is crazy, but it’s what makes him happiest, where he belongs.  Meredith’s letter read first, so in that light, he’s overexplaining to Jo.  Also exposition.  References that conversation about his mental picture of Izzie, which I think was in the context of Jo questioning his feelings for Izzie.  It scared him because...  ?  He focuses on the kids.  It’s a little at odds with doing this for him, and a little suddenly ignoring the fact that he’s In Love with Izzie and I guess his mental image for Izzie was also his dream life and he gave it to her.  Though where he thought her kids came from is possibly an oversight.  Adoption?
Because it makes it sound like he’s torn between new and old love but the old love has is kids and wins.  It’s a free pass to perfection.  But he imagined a “whole life” for her, which is a massive investment opf time and emotional energy on someone he hasn’t seen in forever.  I mean thinking well for an ex is al well and good but this sounds a bit beyond that, where she’s not a part of his life but a part of HIS life, believing she’s okay makes everything okay.
I am also willing to take up arms and claim that “I can’t look you in the eye because I wouldt be able to walk away...” doesn’t mean walk away from Jo, but walk away from Izzie.  But that’s kinda tenuous.  It just... it sounds like if he sees Jo he won’t be able to leave her, which puts her above Izzie (and even the kids, though he can still be in their lives) and that contradicts other statements, or at least their implications .
Though fair point that there’s a metric of who you’ll give up everything for.  Izzie would for Denny.  In a sense, I hear Meredith got her back in the Seattle hospital and she declined out of respect for Alex’s feelings.  So in a way she gave up her life for Alex.  And never reached out to him but did respond when he did.  She picked up the phone.  Maybe not knowing who it was, or they all kept their own phones.  And Alex gave it all up for Izzie+kids.  I want to know he’d give it all up for Izzie alone, and the life they could have had.
Or is it that he wouldn’t be able to leave Jo because, as noted to Meredith, it’s the right thing to stay in Seattle.  And he’s become a man who does the right thing.  And sometimes the right thing isn’t what we truly want, and to get that we have to be selfish.  He one perfect thing is in Kansas.  And it’s the family.  It’s a family with Izzie.  And his kids.  It’s the whole package.  If it wasn’t Izzie, the kids wouldn’t be enough?  Also indicates that even with Jo was not exactly where he should be.
I’m also going with “some clues in various directions to satisfy various viewers but really offending most of them because this is all 10 years ago and people are newer viewers or forgot or hated Izzie when she left etc.”  But preponderance of evidence leans in favour of this choosing what makes him happiest over what makes him happy.
ETA: he has a life for Izzie in his head because if she’s not happy, he can’t leave her where she is.  He sees her as an optimist, the opposite of him and good things happen when you lean in that direction.  He imagines her somewhere woody because that’s where they lived when they were married.
ETA2: Izzie didn’t notice Alex wanted to be exclusive.  Because Izzie sees the good in him, but she doesn’t try to justify or explain things.  She takes him at face value (mostly, she knows superficial crabbiness is just an unpleasant personality trait.)  Until/unless she has very good evidence to he contrary.  And THAT is why he has to take an active role and go to her.  He does have to work for the relationship.
(Briefly skipped to a scene in season 6 (avoiding that season) and he actually says “I can’t be your nurse” which is so much character growth.  Because I was afraid he’d gone full out into caregiver mode, which is not healthy for either of them.  He’s protecting himself, but also pushing her to face up.)
CODAS
Watched Alex calling for/hallucinating Izzie when shot.  Maybe it’s a Miranda thing?  After freaking out right after she died, about how he can’t live without her, his breakup speech was essentially about how he realized he could survive without her.  He doesn’t need her like that.  And he was really hurt by the really shitty thing she did, leaving him. Thus valid conclusion that they should part ways and he’s not caught in the love/hate.  But at some point after that, per hallucination conversation, he really wants her to...  come back for him.  To love him enough to not be able to stay away and come back for him it’s funny because the best way for her to love him was the respect his wishes and not come back.  I mean she doesn’t even say anything after he asks that.
Interesting point “we married...”  It’s a promise.  He starts with “I’m sorry.”  His breakup speech to her - rehearsed?  He’s speaking from love and hate all blended and I think he’s a lot more honest and self aware, and he’s almost always been honest with Izzie.  So his dying speech was also fear based?  He’s scared, he’s in shock, like, physical shock.  To when is his mind taking him?  It’s natural to have regrets after a painful but necessary breakup.  It’s been months but that’s still recent enough.  So on the whole, inconclusive except yeah, he isn’t over her, but he admits during their breakup that he loves her “so much.”
Also love his “frozen together in time... and now we’re not.”  They’ve both grown and changed, and so has their relationship, but there connection hasn’t.  That hasn’t changed.
So back to his Izzie speech, which is meaningful intentionally as in 300th episode, where years later he was wondering still about her, enough to create a good life for her.  A happy, rich and full life.  He imagines it clearly and deeply enough to add smell to it.  Smell is heavily linked to memory and emotion.
As happy as he is with Jo.  Maybe it’s contentment?  Something missing for each of them but not something he consciously knows?  Meh.  Back to frozen.  He has an image, a full rich image of her and her life.  It’s immersive but static, a snapshot.  And the him who looks at that snapshot is the same him over time.
Letter to Meredith.  “It’s about me.”  Which is sorta back to breakup speech.  It was about him, ending the relationship.  He didn’t deserve to be left.  And this is about him, not leaving Izzie+kids.  There’s movement and beauty in this.
Meredith/Alex talking true love.  So I’m torn.  Jo refused his proposal, and the question is if you only get one true love.  Did he think Jo was a true love, and if she refuses him it’s not?  Or is he hoping that true love happens after they’re married?  Given the constancy of his love for Izzie, from fairly early on, even if he didn’t call it that at the time I’m pretty sure it’s indisputedly much earlier than marriage, and she turned him down all the time, which would forestall true love worse, right?  Can’t say as I’m not watching any Jo/Alex, cannot will not no need don’t gotta.

I have no idea if Kingdom Hearts will ever give us a proper solo Kairi game, but it’s still something I like to think about and I was recently thinking about who would be the party members if that was the case. I see a lot of people say the wanna see all the KH girls in a party together, Kairi, Namine, Xion and perhaps Aqua as well. That could be really fun, but I have a different idea.
Sora and Riku’s party members are classic Disney characters who reflect their roles in the series. Riku, the archetypal JRPG hero is paired up with Disney’s golden boy. Sora’s character is basically what would happen if a goofy, Joey Wheeler-esque best friend character ended up being the protagonist. So he’s paired with the funny sidekicks, Donald and Goofy. So Kairi would make sense to pair with your archetypal princess characters. And there are two ladies-in-court in Disney Castle who haven’t done much in the series yet…
Why not make Kairi’s travelling companions Daisy and Minnie? Not only is it a way to give all three of these characters stuff to do but I think they’d slot into a typical JRPG party structure pretty well. Minnie has already been portrayed as a mage with an aptitude for light magic. She’d be the White Mage to Donald’s Black Mage. Plus, it makes sense for Minnie to help Kairi with her magic since, being a Princess of Heart, Kairi also has an aptitude for light magic (see Re:Mind). As for Daisy? Well Dream Drop Distance implies that all the Disney Castle gang (sans Mickey) are from the Country of the Musketeers world, and that Mickey met them there while world travelling during his training (at least that was my understanding). So why not have Daisy honour that by acting as a Musketeer? Give her a rapier and let her by the team fighter. That way you have the same all rounder/Mage/warrior dynamic as Sora, Donald and Goody but a little different.
You’ve also got a good balance of personalities. Minnie is usually portrayed as a very sweet, sunny, demure character (though the more modern shorts show she absolutely has the potential to be crazy). Daisy’s got Donald’s capacity for temper, but tends to be a bit more sophisticated and worldly. A little drier and sassier. This gives you two more contrasting personalities. One a bright people person, and the other who takes nobody’s crap. And then Kairi’s who’s been shown to be able to be both very sweet but also quite sassy, fits in nicely between them.
It’s also not very hard to think of a premise post Melody of Memory and it’s one I’ve suggested elsewhere already. Kairi gets sent out to look for the other members of the New Seven Hearts. She gets to meet these Disney characters with a role like hers, and reflect on what her status as a Princess of Heart actually means. But, like Sora in KH3, you’ve also got that conflict where all the while she desperately wants to go and help her friends, despite knowing she’s not currently strong enough to do so. It’s a simple premise, but it capitalises on what we have to work with for Kairi, and turns her lack of agency into the basis for a character arc. And now she’s got some fun new companions to bounce off of. Giving her more friendships and relationships outside of Sora and Riku.
I highly doubt this will ever happen. But if Kairi does properly get her due, then I think this would be a fun way to go about it.

Dark Road Impressions and theories
I’m actually really excited for the World Building lore. That and the characterization. So! Let’s start from the beginning.
Opening Scene:
This is pretty straight forward but knowing Xehanort is a ‘Destinate’ is still the coolest thing. He’s lived his life on the same sleepy island going to the same school and playing on the same island as Sora. He ‘lays like a starfish’ and dreams of something greater. That simile is minor but it’s indicative of his islander nature. Another small thing I focus in on is the mention of other surrounding islands. We know the name is plural and we know there’s a ‘main island’ but the one-off line does suggest that there’s some kind of island ecosystem which is comforting for anyone trying to develop a Destiny Islands culture. I would be crazy not to mention the inciting drive of Xehanort’s curiosity. His dreams of the Player and the desire to see his ‘friends from another life’. Well by golly that sounds a lot like reincarnation to me. That’s a very new concept to Kingdom Hearts, but not entirely far off.
We await the fate of our Player in KHux but we can easily assume it’s an unfortunate one. But what would make the heart linger and the thought of reincarnation really does open a can of worms in terms of heart mythos. Though, it would fit rather well. Consider the Final World and the lingering, persisting hearts that land there after death. I’ve theorize that they are bound to the Final World by the hearts left behind as a sort of heart-ghost phenomenon. And then we ask what happens when hearts actually do pass on past that limbo. Hearts are a powerful thing with a lot of meaning. The idea of death concurring the heart is almost laughable, so a form of heart reincarnation would make perfect sense. Perhaps they pass on to form the ‘spark’ that a newborn heart blooms from-- since we know hearts are grown. And memories are deeply inlaid in the construction of a heart so Xehanort being haunted by these memories is very fitting.
Scala Scenes:
So I’m guessing Xehanort lied to everyone about knowing where he came from. They simply know he is from the outside world but the fact that Eraqus floats the idea that he’s from the surrounding city to a negative means that Xehanort never confirmed or denied the theories about him. We know he’s not amnesiac bc the opening scene is a flashback. So he’s playing dumb-- why?-- probably out of curiosity after initial befuddlement. It plays into this very interesting dichotomy he’s got going on.  Think, he’s lived his life on this small world, afraid that his dreams were nothing more than that. Xehanort was hungry for something more and suddenly his prayers are answered. When he arrives at Scala-- it turns out that all of his peers are essentially the same as him. All they know is Scala. He’s the mysterious one. He’s their waypoint to a greater reality. It must be a thrilling scenario. It’s got to be fascinating, leaving little room for his own sense of awe. I might be compelled to leave my peers mystified once I gained my bearings.  That being said, a couple world building points. The surrounding spires of Scala are abandoned cities. That... is a very strange and questionable thing. It’s clearly important to the history of the world so we have to ask... why?? I’ve thought in the past that maybe they were different parallel versions of Scala but that started to hurt my brain to think of this world as a singularity but perhaps... they are ‘failed cities’? Like erected and abandoned after not working out. Ohh... what if Scala is a singularity. What if, when Brain created Scala as a final escape from the Data Worlds (and Keyblade War), there was only one scenario where he actually succeeded in carrying the Dandelions with him. What if those other cities really are different timeline’s Scala’s left abandon by the failure of those timeline’s Brain. Ohhh it worksssssssssss
Classroom Scene:
Ok when I heard there was a ‘Baldr’ I immediately though ‘oh dear Nomura grace me with that sweet sweet character design. And then story goes There are seven upperclassmen! And then I’m like GIVE ME COOL CHARACTERSSSS Okay but in all serious, I am pleased to hear that there are some grade levels in this here school. I am curious as to why the upperclassmen went missing and even more curious about the mission that Baldr was sent on. The parallels with the stray apprentice are not lost to me, but the explanation of Baldr’s sister being missing is very heart tugging for me. Ever since Lauriam became the first sibling in the KH series, I’ve been fascinated by there being blood relatives in the KH verse, only because lineage and relation has never been relevant before. You all know that familial bonds is a well of untapped potential and I can sense it coming.  It’s a rescue plot, which is very interesting. Yes, I wonder why a master would send younger students to go after the older ones but I’m gonna guess that Master’s are strapped. I am also encouraged that they make a distinction that they are in teams vs. going solo. Ehhh we’ll see. I like that they address there being multiple ways of travel and it looks like they are using the Lanes Between. With Keyblade Armorrrrrr. God, this stuff is cool. Everyone’s designs are bitchin and it is interesting that the No Heart design still has the Nobody insignia. Now....Release the keyblade vehicle designs Nomura.
First World Visit:
Okay, this is where things get interesting. They address the conundrum of the Heartless. THANK YOU. But they address it as a mystery. Clearly the Emblem Heartless are like the projections from the BoP which is common knowledge, so we might be learning about that copy floating around. That’s our key to the mystery.  But let’s talk about world maturity!!!!!!! That’s what I’m gonna call it, cause it makes a ton of sense. Like really. I’m cackling. Because isn’t it contrived??? Worlds have this sort of newborn state where the set is there but the people aren’t? We know time moves differently but sometimes the clock doesn’t even start until a predetermined moment??? Time isn’t even flowing for the Disney Worlds until... you guessed it! Until Sora and co-visit or brush with it. Which means only ONE thing. They aren’t worlds at all. If they were Worlds, they’d be living out their backstory in some fashion relative to Xehanort, maybe not at the same pace but still to some degree. No, they exist and are frozen until it’s time for the Disney movie to start. The World isn’t a World. It’s a Story. A set narrative.  You know I talk about this is my Heart of Stories theory. Cause now we have to ask about the original worlds and what story they are playing. How equal they are to their Disney World Peers. Because they too are stories, which means the entire universe is just a story and Kingdom Hearts is literally the heart of that story. Enter the metaverse.---I’m breathing heavy. Keep the Dark Road content coming.

The Captain’s Rambling - How TW:OPT was written
Well, today (it's already the 29th of September in my timezone) is a special day and I just uploaded the newest chapter with interesting things going on in there. I did promise that I will tell you how Twisted-Wonderland: Our Precious Treasure was written, right? Well, gather around children. The captain has a story to tell.
I think it was around March of this year and I think it was the early stage of quarantine in my country. I was like relaxing, watching YouTube while having an online class at the same time (please, don't do this at home). Around that time my autoplay got me some Black Butler amv and being that girl who never watches popular anime, I only have the vaguest idea about Black Butler except everyone seems thirsty over Sebastian. But the concept of master & servant always interests me. So, I tried actively search for some Black Butler AMV until finally, I came across a thumbnail of 'Ciel'. However, I soon found out that it was not a Black Butler AMV, but instead, it was the Twisted Wonderland opening song.
youtube
My first thought was: "Oh no. Is Disney making another Kingdom Hearts series?"
After a quick search in Wikipedia, I decided to cruise through Tumblr, seeing some cute stuff, and then, just out of curiosity, I check whether there was any fanfiction of this game. Lo and behold, Archive of Our Own has a section already. So, of course, I wanted to read some fics, because that's apparently my job. While very early there are some Canon Characters/Reader fics, I tend to avoid it for now, I found a fic titled 'Beyond the Looking-Glass' and it's also a crossover with Kingdom Hearts. So, I was like: "Okay. Let's give it a try." A few sentences later I found a familiar name: 'Hikari'. My brain was a bit slow at that time so I scrolled back up and looked at the author and then it suddenly clicked and I got a surprise. Ah... No wonder that name sounded familiar...
Tumblr media
A quick visit back to Tumblr and I found out that, yes, it was the same Hikari KH OC that. Apparently, wingbladeweaver1357 also plays Twisted Wonderland? Okay...
That somehow convinced me to give this game a try.
Reading the fanfic wasn't enough so I watched Ami Yoshiko Twisted Wonderland videos and then Shel_BB's translation to understand the plot so I can follow the fanfic too. Slowly but surely, I started to fell in love with the game.
However, it wasn't enough for me.
So, I was reading the translation for Episode 3 and I reached the part where MC signed the contract with Azul. And I remember thinking: "A very miss opportunity to make it a 'Poor Unfortunate Soul' musical segment." And it gave me an idea: what if I write a songfic just for that scene?
However, there was a problem. Because the MC/Yuu is basically our self-insert, many people, including me, have their own interpretation. So, if I write a (Y/N) fic with my interpretation of the MC/Yuu, it would probably only appeal to a small audience.
So, I decided to make my own MC. And thus, Jonah Argentum was born. But his creation story is a story for another time.
With my MC/OC created, I can actually start writing. However, another problem started. How do I introduce my MC/OC into this songfic? Would the reader able to connect with him in his first debut?
And then, I got a crazy idea. What if I basically adapt the whole game with my MC/OC?
Around that time, the fanfictions weren't as many as now and more of them are Canon Characters/Readers or Original Female Character(s). Nothing wrong with that, but I sort of wish that we have more Original Male Character(s) just for variety. Most of the fanfics that were following the canon plot hadn't even passed the Prologue. So... Why not? I think I'm part of the earliest fic posted in AO3's Twisted Wonderland fandom. I'm not the first one to do this adaptation, but I think I'm the first one with male MC/OC.
After reading some translation and imagining the whole this as an anime, on 15 April 2020, the first two chapters of Twisted-Wonderland: Our Precious Treasure was posted.
Throughout April, I managed to finish adapting Welcome to the Villains' World, and on May 4th (because Star Wars day) I posted the first chapter of The Crimson Tyrant and I think I was the first one to start with the Heartslabyul adaptation.
On the first update, I decided to make a Tumblr account to write my notes for each chapter, because I have some references and trivia I want to write and I'm afraid that I would be too much if I post it on the note section of AO3. And thus, officially started the Behind the Fic - TW:OPT.
By the time the fic reached 100 kudos, I decided to write something to celebrate. Now that at least I have some readers who are familiar with Jonah, I felt like it would be okay if I write that Poor Unfortunate Soul songfic. It became the first fic in the Twisted-Wonderland: Our Precious Treasure - Gaiden.
Around June, I suddenly had an idea to maybe branched out to Wattpad, because of course that site has a Twisted Wonderland fandom. And thus, around 6 June 2020, Twisted-Wonderland: Our Precious Treasure was re-posted on Wattpad.
And in August I found out that FanFiction.net finally has its own page for Twisted Wonderland. So, of course, I wanted to post it there too, because it's basically going back to my roots. I started in FF.net, of course, I would eventually come back to that site. Thus, starting 25 August 2020, Twisted-Wonderland: Our Precious Treasure is available on FanFiction.net
Do you think I went overboard with the re-post? Probably yes.
The fanfic is still going strong even though the update wasn't as frequent as it usually did once, but even until now I still enjoy writing it. It's strange on itself. I usually got bored by Chapter 10, but with TW:OPT we're only 11 chapters away from hitting the 100th Chapter Mark. Today's chapter is the adaptation of the original idea to make it a songfic, and thus I feel like it would be a perfect time to tell the origin story.
Another thing that today is my birthday, so I decided to give you guys something other than the update.
Thank you so much for those who had been sticking around for this small fic (I guess I can't call it small anymore, huh?) whether you were there since the beginning or finding it through Tumblr or just finding it now. Thank you for giving this fic a chance. I tried my best to reply to all the comments posted there to show that I appreciate the responses, kudos, and bookmarks. Thank you as well for those who had been sticking around Tumblr. I hope you don't mind my notes.
A special thanks to @wingbladeweaver1357 for being my inspiration to write this fic as well.
Well, then. If you want to ask anything, my DM and Ask Box is always open.
And I guess I should say this...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

OkAaay. This is my idea of Riku finding Sora after all this time, only to find that Sora has been taken over by the darkness (like Aqua) and he’s in his anti-Sora form. But the ones that crazy and uncontrolled like KH 2, not the one in KH 3. Since they are very different in KH 2 and KH 3. KH 2’s anti-Sora form is when he’s like CRAZY and fighting with his bare hands and darkness is all around him. KH 3 one is a little more controlled and still uses the keyblade (I think he does). So yeah. This is my little idea and I hope y’all like it! Also, I couldn’t remember what everyone was doing at the end of KH 3 my bad.
He had been searching for over a year. He and all of Soras friends have been looking for him. As soon as Kairi came back without Sora, Rikus heart dropped. He remembered the moment clearly.
They were all on the beach at Destiny Islands, all trying to have a bit of a good time. Everyone was doing their own thing. Riku and Ventus were racing for the frisbee, accidentally knocking over Donald’s little sand castle of himself, causing Donald to make a lot of noise. Xion and Namine were picking out seashells, like the precious girls they were. King Mickey was watching everyone, a sparkle in his eye showed that he was having a good time. Terra and Roxas were racing each other, Aqua at the very end waiting for them.
Everyone heard a really big splash, causing them to look out into the ocean to see a figure far away walking to the shore. Once they got closer, Riku noticed it was Kairi. He got excited and started running towards her, so he could greet her. However, he noticed that Sora was missing, he wasn’t next to her where he should be. He continued to run, just assuming that he was under the water and was about to pop up, but when he kept getting closer, that spiky hair was nowhere to be seen.
Once he got to her, she had her head down, but looked up at him and had tears running down her cheeks. His heart dropped at the sight.
Sora wasn’t here.
Ever since that day, everyone had the same mission. To find Sora. Everyone was watching themselves too, everyone but Riku. Sora was always on his mind. It’s like he just couldn’t escape from thinking about Sora. It’s as if Sora just overtook his thoughts, but it didn’t matter to Riku. He promised that he’d find Sora, no matter what he had to do.
And then one day, he was training like normal, but suddenly got a feeling. He stopped fighting and stood there for quite awhile. It disappeared for a few minutes, and Rikus heart dropped. He knew that feeling, it was the feeling he had with Sora. It was their connection coming back to life again. He stood there and tried to chase that feeling with his heart or find it again, but he couldn’t. Because of that little spark, he headed back out into the worlds Sora had been too. He went to every world Sora had been too and looked around everywhere, but never got that spark back again. He talked to multiple people and asked if they’d seen him, but no one did.
He felt a little lost and scared that he’d never be able to feel that connection again, but pushed it aside as he went back to Yen Sids tower, feeling defeated.
And now, after a year, he was walking in the Realm of Darkness once more. He was by himself because he, and everyone else, believed that he was the only one that could find Sora. He thought that he just had to follow their connection. He was there because it was his last hope. He had gone to every other world, and the connection couldn’t spark again, so he came here hoping to feel it again and make it lead back to Sora. He stood in the darkness and looked around. He heard the quiet sound of scurrying from the heartless everywhere. He ignored it and closed his eyes, slowed his breathing, and listened to just maybe feel that connection again.
He listened and listened and waited. After around 10 minutes, that spark came back. He opened his eyes with excitement. “Sora could be here,” Riku thought. This lightened his heart up a bit, and he felt like his heart was pulling him to keep going deeper, so he did. He listened to his heart and he was eventually lead to a place that was familiar.
It was the little ocean that he and Sora were lost at before. He remembers that Sora and him agreed on staying here. He couldn’t help the way his heart raced a bit when he remembered how Sora was happy to just be by his side. However, it all stopped when he walked closer and saw a figure.
A figure with spiky hair, but they were all dark. The figure was crouched down at the water line, but suddenly stood up, faster than a normal person, and looked towards Riku. This figure had bright, yellow eyes like the heartless, but once it got closer, he realized who it was.
It was Sora. His Sora, the one he loved more than anything, but he was lost in the darkness now. It even took over his body, just like it did to Riku. He couldn’t lie, he felt a little fear run through him, but not for his sake. It was for Sora. Who knows what he’s going through right now? Who knows what he’s BEEN through?
Anti-Sora kept looking at him, some noises escaping from him but he couldn’t make a sense of what they were. However, after a few seconds, he turned into a shadow and started rushing towards him, a darkened keyblade in his hand, surrounded by darkness flowing.
He summoned his keyblade and blocked Anti-Soras attack. Anti-Sora got up and close to him, his noises turning out to be words.
“Gone...”
Rikus eyebrows furrowed in worry. He hope he doesn’t mean that everyone abandoned him. He hopes that Sora knows that, but he doesn’t know. Anti-Sora pulled back and his form was so...wrong. It wasnt Soras natural form. He was on all fours, keyblade suddenly gone, and was basically bouncing, as if he was trying to strike but something wouldn’t let him. Was it the real Sora? He didn’t know, so he stood there, keyblade still out and ready to defend just in case, but not to attack. He couldn’t bare hurting Sora on accident. Especially when he’s not in control. Anti-Sora was just there, bouncing around trying to attack, but couldn’t.
However, Riku didn’t move either. He decided to talk to him, to get the real Sora to come out, to help him find his way back home.
“Hey, Sora. It’s me, Riku,” he started off, quietly. His held his hands out in front of him, summoning his keyblade away (just in case it made Anti-Sora afraid). Anti-Sora just sat there, mumbling words still coming from him.
“Lost....”
“Yes, I know you’re lost, but I’m here. Let me take you home.”
At the word “home” he noticed that Anti-Sora perked up a bit. As if he was excited to go home, which Riku bet he was. However, Riku still saw Anti-Sora shake his head and let out a growl. He rushed towards Riku, only his bare hands out, and Riku dodged away. He was a little afraid to use his keyblade, he thought he might hurt him, which was the last thing he wanted to do. However, Anti-Sora didn’t care. He kept leaping after him and Riku only had limited time to avoid him. And on one attack, he didn’t dodge in time and got 3 little scratch marks on his arm. It didn’t hurt too bad, but there was some pain there.
What surprised him was that when he got hurt and let out a little shout of pain, Anti-Sora leaped away from and stared at him. Riku swears he saw some form of pain and regret in his big, yellow eyes. Anti-Sora looked down at his hands and saw some blood on them, and he looked...disgusted. Riku then remembered, that it is Sora underneath everything. He knows Sora wouldn’t hurt him on purpose. This caused his heart to panic a little. He thought that Anti-Sora might be angry at himself and run away. He couldn’t let that happen, so he stood up slowly and raised his hands out once again.
“Hey, I’m okay. I know you don’t mean it, Sora. I’m right here for you. We can go home and everything will be okay.” He tried to use that voice he used towards Sora. The one filled with affection, love, and that calmness he always managed to do whenever Sora was hurt. His voice was a little shaky out of emotion, but he remained mostly calm. After all, it was Sora underneath the darkness. It’s what Riku kept reminding himself. Anti-Sora slowly crawled towards him, his head tilted as if he was curious. Riku nodded and smiled. “Yeah, it’s me, Sora. Just come with me and it’ll be okay. Best friends promise.”
“...best friend...?”
His voice sounded a bit clearer, as if Sora was breaking through, but darkness still had a little hold on him. Riku nodded and decided to get on his knees on the hard ground. He held his arms open like he was going to give a hug, but only if Sora would come to him. Anti-Sora let out a little purr and leaped into Rikus arms. His legs wrapped around his waist, arms wrapped around his neck, and his cheek rested against Rikus cheek. Riku noticed that Anti-Sora still looked tense, so he hugged him back the best that he could.
“...real...?”
That little word broke Rikus heart. What had Sora seen down here? What had he gone through? Did he truly believed Riku wasn’t here? In response, he hugged him tighter and ran his hand through his hair.
“Yes. I’m really here, Sora. I promise.” Before he knew it, tears were rolling down his face. He knew it wasn’t the true Sora just yet, but just...holding him and seeing him at all, released all the emotions he’d been holding back. All the emotions he repressed just so he could find Sora, and now he had. His wish finally came true and he finally found Sora.
After who knows how long, Riku stood up with Sora in his arms. He looked at his face, but he seemed like he was asleep. Riku then worried even more. Did Sora even ever sleep down here? Riku knows how tiring it is here and how it’s hard to ever have a moments rest. He’s surprised how he and Anti-Sora even got a chance to find each other with no heartless appearing. However, he doesn’t question it, he’ll take any blessings he can get, and this was the best one of all. Other than just being Soras best friend.
Once they escaped the Realm of Darkness, Soras form seemed a little less tainted, his hair was back to its original brown, his face back to the face Riku loves with his whole heart, but his body was still covered in darkness. Sora would occasionally let out a little whimper and Riku would hug him tighter and whisper, “it’s okay. I’m right here,” to comfort him in whatever was going on behind his closed eyelids. He hopes it helps him and it seemed like it kinda did by the way Sora would lighten his grip on Riku.
Once they got to Master Yen Sids tower, he went straight to Master Yen Sid, and he looked shocked but happy. “I see you’ve found the little one,” he said with a smile. Riku smiled back and nodded. “I did...but he was covered in darkness. As you can see, he still is a little bit. What should I do?” Master Yen Sid looked at the sleeping Sora, noticing him tightening his grip whenever someone spoke, as if he was afraid. Master Yen Sid stroked his beard in though.
“Do you think I should dive into his heart?” Riku asked him with worry clear in his voice.
“It might work. However, be careful. He still has darkness inside him and I can see you didn’t make it out unscathed.”
Riku looked down at his arm where the 3 scratches were. The bleeding dried up, so it just needed a bandage or a healing spell to make it go away. However, that was the last thing on his mind. He just wanted to save Sora from whatever was trapping him. Riku nodded at Master Yen Sid and rested Sora on the ground like he had done once so long ago. He summoned his keyblade and pointed it at Sora, ready to dive into his beloveds heart.
Once he did, he was on Soras awakening station, but it was covered in darkness. He expected Anti-Sora to be somewhere here, but instead he saw Sora standing in the middle, completely still.
“Sora!” Riku ran towards Sora and got in front of him to look at him. Once he touched him, Sora’s eyes opened wide and he looked at Riku. He reached out for him, but before he touched him, he pulled his hand back as if he was burned from the air and turned around and walked away from Riku.
“You’re not really here. You’re not here,” he whispered, his voice shaking with sadness. Rikus heart broke at that denial.
“I’m right here, Sora. I promise,” he said as he walked closer to Sora. Soras arms were crossed and his back was turned to Riku. Riku walked to him and put his hand on his shoulder. “Please...look at me.”
Sora let out a small gasp and turned around. Riku was so happy to see a smile on Soras face and the way he was excited to see Riku.
“You’re real!” Sora shouted as he threw himself at Riku.
Riku caught him, obviously, and hugged him as tight as he could.
He found him. He finally found his beloved after so long.
OkaYYYY. I hope this was good! I like it but I didn’t know how to end it so it’s kinda bad at the ending my bad! But I hope y’all liked it and my requests are open for whatever y’all want me to write.
Btw if ya wanna know why Sora didn’t think Riku was real, check out my other fic where Sora keeps seeing fake Rikus in the realm of darkness >:)

spoilers My thoughts on KHMoM
Although I’m not done with the game yet I already finished the story, and with 30 hours of game time under my belt I think it’s enough to share my thoughts on it, both good and bad:
At first I thought Kairi’s narration would come to a close with her retelling the memories of her heart to someone (Ienzo, Ansem the Wise, etc), but it’s obvious by the fact that she mentions things there’s no way she could know of that the narration is more likely for us the players. This took me out of it a little because it couldn’t fit with MoM’s story; yes they were searching Kairi’s heart and it would have made sense if it was only Kairi’s perspective, but a lot of it has no place in her memory at all. It was just the franchise’s recap, and anybody else could have been narrating. Chirithy could have been a better option since he may actually know a lot more than Kairi does.
Alyson Stoner does a good job voice acting, but she’s not good at voicing Kairi. Her narration sounds more like Xion than Kairi, so you can tell she’s not able to separate them like Jesse does with Ven and Roxas. Alyson’s hoarse raspy voice in the narration gives Xion vibes, but idk if she was directed to do so because in KH3 her Kairi actually sounds a little more high pitched than she does in the narration of MoM.
Although the mapping of some songs could have been better I immensely enjoyed most of the songs in the game. I played in Proud mode and it felt balanced, challenging and fun.
The memory tracks were fun as well since the slight difference in gameplay, and I liked how they adapted it to boss battles as well.
Mickey changing outfits depending on what team you’re using is nice. I especially appreciate his look with the black coat it looks so silly I love it xD
I can’t believe there are 6 songs for Neverland plus Ruler or the Sky’s theme and “Neverland Sky” did not make the final cut goshdangit.
I’m genuinely surprised there were no Pirates of the Caribbean tracks. Probably something to do with copyright.
Seeing Aqua fly was lovely she looks so graceful and pretty I loved it QwQ
I appreciated that One Winged Angel made it, it was a pleasant surprise xD
Original Simple and Clean was nice but I was kinda hoping we’d have at least one of the remixed versions. Oh well.
It was so strange being able to interrupt Aqua’s animations to have her attack or jump because of how I used I was to having to wait for all her animations in BbS xD I mean it was nice! But it felt weird like ‘woah I can do that???’ Crazy stuff.
To this date KH3D is one of the games I like the least of the franchise and after playing the songs I realized how much I don’t like its soundtrack either xD Only songs I can actually hum from memory is All for One. For me most of the Disney world songs are pretty meh.
I can see what they were going for adding the extra Disney songs of Circle of Life, Beauty and the Beast and A Whole New World but because they can be kinda slow songs I don’t feel like they fit so good for a rhythm game? Specially Beauty and the Beast I did not like as much.
Seeing Elsa being shoved on the back of the box felt so shameless from Disney’s part you can tell they had Square at gun point and told them to have her there. That and also that Arendelle’s song was Let it Go instead of the actual world song like the rest of KH3′s Disney worlds.
VS Battles online are fun, I like ‘em c:
In the final battle it felt so wrong that Sora was the one to fight Xehanort instead of Kairi. It felt like a slap to the face after Kairi was so hyped as protagonist for this story. You wanna include Sora in this fight? Have Kairi fight with the Kingdom Key instead of Destiny’s Embrace, that way Kairi gets to fight Xehanort while also letting the players know that Sora is there helping her.
Seeing the flashback of her being taken by student Xehanort was hella interesting and creepy but in a cool way. I liked it.
I... don’t know how to feel about the fictional world. I’m still taking it all in xD but I’m open to it.
The way Kairi and Riku were so excited to see each other was hella cute ngl <3
I was kinda hoping Nameless Star would be Strelitzia, but it really seems like she’s Yozora’s gf. That’s fine I can live with that, she’s nice and I like her.
I can understand the logic of why Kairi did not go with Riku. Really, I do. But it felt like another slap to the face xD Like damn this poor girl barely got the spotlight before Riku went away with it again.
Kairi is gonna be Aqua’s student!! I’m actually really looking forward to this and I hope we get to see more of their interactions c:
Mickey trying to run off after Riku and having Donald and Goofy tackle him was so funny like bro who the hell are you kidding? You went off on your own to do shit without telling anyone all the way back from KH1.
“But Master Yen Sid, he’s all alone in a world we know nothing about!” That didn’t stop you before from taking your sweet time to rescue Aqua did it??? 💢💢💢
See? I told you guys there wouldn’t be any new Ven dialogue :’v
The final credits with everyone flying with Sora that one moment where it was him, Roxas and Ven just made me go 😍😍😍😍😍 !!
Yen Sid asking Donald and Goofy to tell everyone to stop their respective searches was such a relief Terra, Aqua and Ven can finally get out of the Realm of Darkness after a year of searching there QwQ
The setup for the next entry in the franchise got me definitely excited! I’ll be looking forward to anything new Nomura releases, and I’ll be on the lookout for KH’s 20th anniversary in 2022 c:
