taken from my own tiktok but I wanted to get peoples opinions on tumblr too
is this how you guys feel? cause I’ve seen people say similar things. I am kind of disappointed with how they’ve handled it. They did this in season 2 as well, but Kanthony still got a lot of screen time (even though we missed out on their wedding Shonda I’ll never forgive you). In fact, Polin probably had more screen time in s2 than their own one. I don’t even think it was the side plots themselves either, but more the way they were edited together. We had a polin scene, and then like 5 scenes of subplots before going back to Polin. It would have been much better and feel a lot less rushed if there were more Polin scenes in between :/.
I think that there will be a lot more in part 2 and that part 1 was just the build up, so I’m excited for that. Also, I did like season 3 (so far). But I feel like a lot of my enjoyment came from the side plots and not Polin, but that might just be because I’m not really bothered about their season (don’t get me wrong; I think they’re cute and good for each other, but I prefer the other characters more).
Also, whilst we’re on the topic of season 3, what do you guys think about Benedict’s role in it. I feel like s4 will be his because a lot of people were upset when s3 wasn’t (though I’m glad s3 was Colin’s season, I would have gone insane if it was dragged on for another season 💀), and also because eloise and Francesca seem unlikely. Francesca is with John for two years before the events occur (iykyk) and Eloise needs more character development (esp in regards to her feelings towards romance) before it can be hers. But I don’t know why Tilly has been introduced? It’s quite strange to introduce her now when his season is probably going to be next, so I wonder how she’ll play into his development, or if she’ll have a role in season 4.

spoilers warnings // opinion abt the first part
what I like :
Penelope being an absolute sweetheart and terribly socially akward but not being turned ridiculed, like a lot of "not-like-other-girls" fiction. Penelope is different than the ton as she's not sticking out but she makes it clear that she is a very common girl in her wants and desire, that she is just more introverted and has had less help from her family.
Her relationship with her mom getting deeper as well as their conflict. Love that!
Francesca being a really agreable character and her silent affection towards John is adorable. Definitly looking for more of them in the second part.
I actually enjoy the subplot of both Eloïse and Cressida, the season is really centering on the cracks of the ton's idea of normalcy before going further than the Londonian society in others books which is a great thing. It adresses that in an universe like Bridgerton there's a difficulty for the young misses in market to bond and form friendship because they're in constant competition, but also it doesn't take away the flaws of each-characters, making them whole. The three girls does not only compete with themselves but they also envy each one thing for each-other and are blind to the other person's issue, but at the end of the day the ton ends up being an issue for all of them in one way or another.
Violette and Agatha's brother, very cute, love their different views on marriage and their equal love for their children.
Colin is actually not a non-playable-character! Still feels a lil bit uncomplete to me but hey, it's only four episodes, it might come as well. I do really empathize with him with his awkwardness in episode three and four and hope for more as for later. Also they need to get him a more fluffy wig in the sense that : episode 3 with the wind, thank you.
what I disliked :
The constant threesomes (okay, only two) but I don't like lesbianism being used as porn content for men, even though if it means what it means (Colin is not content with one sexual or romantic partner if it's not Pen ect ect…) as a lesbian it is still icky to me. (Also I know that the few mlm scenes we've had caters to 'everyone' because straight women tends to love gay men but they're also more deeper than sex workers having to shag in front of rich nobles.)
The part 2 teaser, in genereal the fact that L.W will be revealed in this season and that the main conflict will be Penelope lying to Colin. But it's mostly because I've read the books and I hold Penelope and her work's dear in my heart I have issues about how it was handled. Personal preferences I guess.
Benedict's plot, not interesting, love the actress (very pretty) but in general I feel like theyre running in circles with him to keep the hype until they've made all their seasons and then his. Just not interested in it.
THAT half moment in the carriage scene where Pen tries to put her hands in his hair but it feels very weird bc in the book I felt it as unconcious and passionate and his hair being so stiff + the weird look turned me off so bad…sorry I know a lot of people like that scene in its entirety but it's the only part I had issues with.
I'm sad that we don't get news on Queen Charlotte's family situation bc it really intrigued me, I'm not surprised that the universe feels kind of flat.
things I am neutral about :
Kanthony not being that present, well it's not their seasons! I always have issues with ennemies turned lovers in the sense that they become boring very fast if theyre straight ((sorry)) and I do like them so I'm glad I didn't have the time to get bored by them, it also means more Francesca plot, more Creloise so I am truly fine with it.
The Mondrich getting nobles traits, I just wished it focused on the son too. Maybe about how pressured he would be as a young guy, ect, but there's still time.
Oh and it took me a MOMENT to understand the logistic of him f*ngering her, at first I thought he was just pleasing her outside and I was like "but the logistic? does he just gets out of the carriage with wet fingers and goes tell his mom he's getting married?" But it seems that yes. So… Okay.
The pregnancy race, idk it just feels obvious that Pen at the end of the day might win bc one will have a girl or one will be too late ect… I do find the commentaries about sexuality funny, and if it means more Finch and Philippa I'm fine with it.
general opinion for now :
I have been warmed up to be hyped by the season for a while now so there is not a real surprise that i'm appreciating the main romance as they're the only one I read the book and had seen across fandom in laws. Now the four next episode can make it more than great or sadly make my appreciation downgrade, it'll be a different experience that I've had with the other seasons bc I binged all of it and only had a overall opinion on the entirety of the show. Looking for the rest!

My Top 10 Favorite Moments From Bridgerton Season 2, Episode 1: "Capital 'R' Rake"
It has officially been one year since Season 2, so please enjoy my upcoming series of posts about my favorite moments from each episode (and ignore the fact that I never finished doing this for Season 1). My favorite moments in no particular order (except maybe chronological):
10- Daphne Passes the Torch
The first Bridgerton we see this season is the previous season's lead: Daphne. And before the show cuts to the opening credits, she wishes Anthony-this season's lead-good luck on the marriage mart. It's a nice cinematic choice for the show to pass the torch on to the next Bridgerton who will fall in love. Let's hope that next season keeps it up with something similar between Anthony and Colin.
9- Bridgerton Family Dynamics
The whole family arguing outside of Eloise's door while she's getting ready is hilarious. Daphne and Anthony are ready to beat down the door and drag Eloise out. Violet has to tell Benedict to be quiet when he's listing ways Eloise might have escaped her room so that her younger daughter doesn't get any ideas. Benedict recognizes that Daphne, who loved her season, is the last person that Eloise, who hates the idea of the marriage mart, wants to see. Francesca is the calm voice of reason when she insists, "Of course [Eloise] is still in there!" and even tries to fan her in the carriage. It's moments like these when they seem like a real, chaotic family.
8- Anthony's Debutante Montage
Anthony trying and failing at the marriage mart is amazing. I feel for the poor ladies. I feel for poor Anthony. I'm mesmerized by his hair in this particular sequence for some reason?
And let's not forget that this is the return of the viscount's bum. We saw it in season 1. It returned in season 2. I wouldn't mind seeing it in season 3. He's got a great bum.
7- The Great Kanthony Race of 1814
This is the best meet cute, hands down. Anthony's returning home like a zombie, trailing behind two geese (foreshadowing!), on a dim and cloudy morning. Then, out of the mist, emerges a mystery rider: Kate Sharma. The sun finally comes out when they speak with each other and Anthony is left with a genuine smile on his face.
6- Lady Danbury Versus Newton
Lady Danbury probably already guessed she was going to have her hands full this season when she clocked Kate's mud-soaked hem, but the look she gives Newton just confirms it.
5- Kate Seeing Anthony At The Conservatory
If you had any doubts about how charmed Kate was by her short meeting with Anthony in the park, wonder no more. For someone who said she's only interested in finding a match for her sister, Kate sure is interested in Anthony. She already has quite a crush on him. Too bad Anthony ruins it by opening his mouth five minutes later.
4- Deficient Character (and Horsemanship)
Anthony and Kate meet again! Anthony is still smitten by this mystery rider and pleasantly surprised to see her again. Kate, on the other hand, has taken a disliking to him after hearing about his "requirements" for a wife. After verbally dressing him down, she leaves him in the dust and Anthony.exe quits working for a while.
3- Benedict Bridgerton Has No Chill
I've posted about this before, but if THIS is Benedict trying to be casual with a girl he likes:
then every last one of the Bridgertons will know he's in love with Sophie within ten seconds once his season comes around.
2- Eloise Putting Down Cressida
Eloise's impatient and blunt declaration that she would "rather die" than be friends with Cressida was hilarious and to the point. Sometimes dealing with bullies requires finesse. Sometimes it requires telling them to just fuck off already. Eloise chose the latter.
1- "Miss Sharma, my lord."
Anthony has decided to just marry the diamond and be done with it. And when Edwina passes his "test" with flying colors, Anthony probably thinks that everything will be smooth sailing from here. Only to find out that the sister he has to impress is the same woman from the park. And he finally has a name to put to the face.

Your post about Colin took the words right out of my mouth. It is wild to see so many people miss it. Honestly, I think part of the reason people shit on Colin and Polin is because their arcs are compromised of subtlety and complexities, especially right now as the subplot. we arent slapped in the face by their moments so they "lack chemistry" or are "pointless characters".
No the chemistry is there, their stories are there, you just have to look a little closer, think a little harder and a lot of viewers dont want to do that
Anon is referring to this post!
Yes thank you!! I remember especially in s1 their chemistry in scenes made me so giddy, like the scene in 101 when he saves her from Cressida and they dance ? Swoon worthy! And they have so many cute banter-y scenes! just because their banter is friendly and light instead of heavier and more antagonistic like Kanthony doesn’t mean they don’t have a great dynamic. Their chemistry isn’t fiery or super intense, it’s gentle and sweet! It’s a different dynamic, for a different couple! The same way Kanthony had more sexy, intense chemistry than simon and Daphne! Just because it’s different doesn’t mean it’s no good!!
And they have REAL conversations!!! Simon and Daphne barely had a single conversation of substance before they were married and by then it was too late. Kanthony (my beloveds) have a few conversations that alude to deeper understanding but the meat of it doesn’t happen on screen. But Polin? Polin spent this WHOLE SEASON having serious, deep conversations about purpose, about finding yourself, about passion and love, about being with people who love you, about protecting and treasuring the people in your life who matter. They are putting in WORK with the small moments they share. Considering how much people have been complaining that Kanthony didn’t have enough deep conversations, the fact that pretty much every conversation Polin had this season was one of substance about real, deep issues should be such a hit, but people just ignored it? I don’t understand.
And yeah!! Colin’s storyline is much more quiet! He’s a quieter character in the show than either of his brothers. Whether that’s different from the books or whatever, it’s still true. He was the first one who wanted to get married, he just hangs out with Penelope and his family, he comes home late from parties taking care of his drunk mom, he’s just a sweet guy who is just living his life. Just because he’s not loud and his storyline isn’t big or flashy doesn’t mean he doesn’t have an arc or character work that’s being done.
You’re 100% right tho. Like Penelope has made some enemies in the show, she’s done some shit that’s pretty terrible, and I’m sure that’s part of why people aren’t super excited for her season, but Polin is also just a much quieter love story than any of the others. It’s not angry sexy enemies to lovers, it’s not fake dating and duels, there’s no huge class divide or jail time to keep them apart. They are the story of two friends, of unrequited love that slowly, over a LONG time, becomes mutual. Their love story is a simple one, one where all of a sudden Colin realises that the best person for him has actually already been there all along. It’s not flashy, and it’s not “cinematic”, but it’s, IMO, the most realistic love story in the series. I think the lack of flash makes it less anticipated, but that doesn’t make it bad. Sometimes a quiet love story is what you need.
