do you think geno post-aftertale gets guilty for "replacing" his papyrus with the current one (and by extension everyone else). like yeah there's A papyrus here and he's his brother along with sans but he's still wearing the scarf of his papyrus.
the papyrus he failed to protect.
and like sure since the timeline reset technically the current papyrus IS his papyrus but both geno and sans being here could probably mess with him.
he knows he's here because of determination but maybe sometimes he can't help but look at the scarf he's wearing and papyrus and feel an immense sense of guilt
that's not to mention how everyone will think of him as a stranger. can you imagine they're all hanging out and then undyne tells geno something that sans did. but he already knows that because he did that but that's weird to say. "oh yeah i remember that i did that." they dont know that, you're not their sans.
does toriel sometimes get unsettled by how sans and geno's voice sounds the exact same. how often would she mistake the two at first when they're talking out of sight. how often do they get mistaken in general? and when they do get mistaken do people always assume it's sans and never geno?
like yeah aftertale had a happy ending but there's still so much to explore after it. how does geno adjust to being in the real world again (and on the surface at that). how does geno deal with his identity. does he keep his name? does he explain who exactly he is to the others or does he let that go unspoken? does he sometimes look at sans and get jealous he didn't have to go through everything that he did to get this happy ending and then feel bad for getting jealous?
i think it would be nice for geno to hang out with people that are less familiar with sans but still people he knows, like asgore, mettaton, napstablook, etc. there'd be less of that "i know sans well but you're almost like a stranger". it's simpler with acquaintances because they simply don't know either of them well enough. so geno doesn't have to be worried about being compared all the time, consciously or not

Papyrus is so weird in comparison to the rest of the cast, like a prominent theme of Undertale is how the past can hold people back and the necessity of accepting it and understanding that it should not define your present and leave you stagnant.
Toriel and her inability to protect Asriel and the children who pass through her doors, Sans and his mysterious past that he can never return to, Undyne and the pain of monsters and the monster history that she embodies more than any other character, Alphys and the determination experiments that haunt her, Mettaton and his past identity that he runs away from, Asgore and the choices he made in grief, and most importantly, Flowey/Asriel and the self he can never really go back to.
Papyrus is literally the ONLY main cast member with no relationship to the past that is holding him back in some way. Like, all of the main issues this guy faces within the narrative (his popularity and not being a member of the Royal Guard) are all issues relating to his present state, and theres no real sense that they cause him to stagnate. He's written in such a vastly different way than every other character, down to him being the only character that literally cannot kill you (the game crashes if you do). Truly insane individual.
extremely well said. although, i think he fits more with the rest of the cast if you parse undertale's story as one about self imposed narratives, as well as past mistakes as a cause of stagnation.
toriel denounced all monsterkind as violent opportunists and forced herself to suffer isolation and grief, alone, as a sense of failed duty towards asriel.
undyne did likewise, denouncing humans rather than monsters as unredeamable murderers and turning herself into a hero. she handles all of the waterfall area alone, she strengthens her resolve thinking about how much people count on her, and never confesses her feelings to alphys because she doesn't want to burden her with them in case she dies in battle
asgore and alphys, their own parallels as well, are both haunted by their past mistakes and have convinced themselves that living a lie is better than facing the truth of the damage you caused
sans lost his home and friends and is aware of the anomaly: this caused him to take up a "play the cards i'm given" attitude where he passively rolls with every punch that the current timeline throws at him, without letting himself strive for anything more than what small solace he has.
mettaton is also haunted (lol) by his past. he's also decided that, in order for his dreams to be achieved, he HAS to sacrifice the personal connections he holds dear, and that that sacrifice is one he is willing to make (first napstablook, then alphys, then the entire underground when he gains a chance to go to the surface for himself)
papyrus... well, like you said, he distinctly lacks the element of the Past to drag him back from personal development, but like the rest of the cast he DOES have the accompanying self imposed narrative with the same effect. papyrus is lonely! but he's also come to the conclusion that what would fill that loneliness is fame and a vague notion of "popularity". this leads him to not realize the value of his friendship with undyne and keep other people at arms' lenght.
still, i agree with you. his lacking a character defining past (especially in light of how much his brother's still clearly affects him) is a very peculiar writing choice. it's one of the main reasons why i think he's some kind of amnesiac

I've read the phrase "alphys's arc of being a fraud" so many times in different ways in different places, and every time I do, it hurts a little. Because like... no???
Alphys isn't a fraud. She CALLS HERSELF a fraud because of her mistakes.
I've talked about the common thought about "Alphys lying to Asgore about Mettaton so she could become the Royal Scientist" in an old post that I'm still really proud of.
Alphys has a negative view on herself, due to her mistakes and lies. Simple enough.
But... thinking about it as I'm writing it, she's not the only one that's forcing herself to lie to people she cares about.
Undyne's keeping Papyrus out of the Royal Guard and trying to get him to do something else with his life by having his "EXTRA SPECIAL ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING" being simply cooking.
And Papyrus lying... well... a lot, actually. Or at least contradicting himself around Sans and Undyne.
some obvious ones, like him using reverse psychology to get Undyne to be friends with Frisk, and the whole "trying to not-lie to Undyne about what you're wearing while she's trying to murder you" thing
how he feels about greasy foods during a phonecall that includes Undyne
pretending to not know what a Lab is (during another phonecall, this time with Sans)
pretending to not know what the SUN is at the end of the mercy run, despite saying "WIND IN MY HAIR… SUN ON MY SKIN…" during the date
Damn...

Day 1 of trying to get my au noticed by the Undertale fandom
I have like 4 or 5 parts out of animatics for Brokentale on my yt channel but animation is hard so don't expect parts to come out frequently
Anyways basic lore and plot
After the 5th human fell into the underground, Alphys started experimenting with determination. She started out by using things like flowers before using it on any actual monsters, thus creating Flowey. After this, she wanted to try testing some other chemicals to see how things would react to them. Determination and what's known as Insanity go hand in hand with humans. Too much Insanity in a human can result in them basically being a genocidal freak. Usually humans have the perfect mix of Insanity and Determination. After Alphys learned that Insanity was also a core part in a human soul, she wanted to experiment with it as well. However this chemical only came in the form of a steam. So in order to keep everything safe, Alphys needed to make sure everything was secure. But there was a crack in the door. Alphys figured that out too late. The gas mask she had on wasn't secure either, causing her to be the first one to go Insane.
Alphys ran out of True Lab to see Mettaton outside asking if she was okay. Alphys panicked and ended up ranting on what happened. But as she was talking, the Insanity came out of the door. She had inevitably inhaled it, and started acting strange. Nothing much at first, just seeming weird but then she went to the point of harming others. She didn't want to deep down so she ended up hurting herself instead.
Meanwhile, the gas began spreading through the underground and having pretty much nowhere to air out, every monster would eventually go insane from it.
Once the gas spread to the Ruins, monsters started acting strange to Toriel. The monsters would often fight or even kill each other. Toriel didn't know why they acted like this. Until she began to feel insane as well. After the sixth human ended up dying, she grew an obsession with protecting the humans. So much so that she killed every monster in the Ruins.
Once the Insanity spread through all of the underground, it seemed hopeless. The world was broken.
Only one monster wasn't affected. That was Napstablook due to them being a ghost. Mad Mew Mew and Mettaton had already become corporal before the Insanity broke loose, so they still went insane.
Sans didn't want to be insane, so he thought maybe there was a way to stop himself from being insane. So he started to do drugs. And he became addicted.
After Frisk fell and saw the current state of the monsters, they wanted to fix it. They wanted to fix what had been broken. They managed to make some monsters come back to their senses and start to be at least a little more sane.
It turned out that Flowey had also been the direct candidate of being tested with the Insanity.
After everyone seemed somehow sane again, Flowey came. He took their souls and became Asriel Dreemurr. After Frisk managed to defeat him, the barrier was finally broken. The monsters were free and the Insanity could air out. Everyone managed to be sane again and then everything was fixed. Alphys, knowing all of this was her fault felt as if she could never forgive herself but after her friends said that it was just a mistake and they forgave her, she managed to feel at least a little better.

I think that realistically, even the most forgiving people have their limits... Papyrus would eventually lose faith in Undyne (for saying horrible things like Frisk's existence is a crime, even though Frisk saved the Armless Lizard Kid's life and later Undyne's life) + Alphys (for lying and tricking both Papyrus and Frisk into thinking that she's saving them, with Mettaton's help) + Sans (for trying to get Tori arrested by Royal Guard, because of the protection promise)...
But before they meet Asgore... Frisk convinces Papyrus to give his friends a second chance, to let the three try to redeem themselves... Starting with them all giving Frisk a proper apology and accepting that not ALL humans are evil!
Why would Frisk want Papyrus to forgive his friends and give them one last chance?
Because Papyrus sacrificed and lost so much just to keep Frisk safe... and the human boy knows that Papyrus still cares about his friends, despite being angry at them (and those friends care about Papyrus, despite their mistakes)... and Frisk doesn't want to be the reason why Papyrus loses all his friends (even if they're racist jerks)...
Because if Frisk can convince both Undyne and Alphys (who work for King Asgore) to helping Papyrus persuade King Asgore into stopping the war against humanity, as well as let Frisk break the barrier with his still living soul... Their chances of convincing Asgore would increase! ^_^
I'm liking what you're cooking.

you do know that the monsters aren’t that flawed right? Except Mabye asgore, most of them were brought up in a world that hates humans? And the fact that people like sans and papyrus who ARENT trying to kill them exist is I miracle!
I mean they all don’t understand frisk as a whole, but in the end they are just trying to make there whole kind happy,
and aren’t humans really the villains for making the spell
ok I’m making a personal opinion chart on how messed up everyone is:
frisk: 1/10
4 of the fallen 6: ?
clover (not me clover): 0.5/10 (sacrificed self for monsters)
integrity: 8/10 (genocide)
chara: 4/10 (bad plan)
flowey: 7/10 (soulless)
Toriel: 3/10 (she has some attachment issues and is depressed, but tried to be good)
sans: Mabye 4/10 (too much to get into due to all the lore so geuss)
papyrus: 3/10 (although smart in some places and Mabye autistic he still does not know what happens when undyne collects a captured frisk, he’s so innocent)
undyne: 6/10 (she’s trying her best to be a hero but is VERY misguided, the rating would be higher if it wasent for geno route proving she can be a real hero)
alphys: 8/10 (almalagamates)
MTT: 9/10 (go get therapy Mettaton murder is not casual )
asgore: 8/10 (he’s flawed, But bears many peoples dreams on his shoulders as he tries to be a beacon for a kingdom, with time and effort he can improve, he wants to be a good person, he’s just far lost)
Average monster rating: 3/10 (all non important ones)
average human rating: 5/10
and keep in mind this is all just from ONE story (two if you count UTY)
thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
About the monsters aren’t that flawed thing, let's both agree to disagree...
Considering that the monsters were trying to kill a child and harvest that child's soul...
And they definitely did it with the previous humans (who could've been lost children like Frisk)...
I get that they were brought up in a world that hates humans, but that doesn't make what they're doing right.
Like for example, the vikings of HTTYD were raised to hate dragons, but Hiccup later realizes that this is wrong and tries to protect Toothless.
And you might be right about the human ancestors that trapped the monsters in the mountain, but how is that Frisk's fault?
How is that any of the previous humans' faults?
Why should they suffer over what their ancestors did?
It's like how Demona wanted to destroy all human descendants over what their ancestors have done...
As for the Integrity Human... What she did wasn't right, however she most likely only did it in self-defense, considering that almost every monster wanted to kill her... She was probably a scared, confused and lost little girl that just wanted to survive and go home...
Also, the souls didn't have to be dead in order to be used to break the barrier; the pacifist route is proof of that!
Even if you're right about the monsters not being that flawed, they still made mistakes and they at least should give Frisk a proper apology, like Flowey/Asriel did!

I'm imagining Undertale as a zany cartoon. As in, a Looney Tunes-esque thing.
In my head, I just called it Toontale. Simple enough.
Basically, it's about the cast doing wacky cartoon stuff. Just like Looney Tunes.
I loved Looney Tunes when I was younger (and I still do), so thinking of this gives me happiness in ways I can't describe.
And then I imagined Frisk being the only normal human in this wacky cartoon world and Toontale was born.
So, I'm gonna give a brief summary of the characters... My favourite. :)
Also, yes, a lot of their behaviours ARE based on classic cartoon characters! It just feels right!
Ready. Here we go!
Flowey:
Think of Wile. E. Coyote but he can talk. (Wait, Wile. E. can already talk... Not usually, but still.)
Flowey does all sorts of crazy things to try and get Frisk's soul.
Predictably, his schemes often end up backfiring on him, either due to his own overconfidence or Frisk's ridiculously good luck.
Of course, Frisk's luck runs out when he starts being serious. Anyone want a Photoshop Flowey?
Possibly the only character that's a tried and true REAL threat. When he gets serious, that is.
Basically, when Flowey decides to attack directly, he's a LOT more competent.
And his backstory is the same.
Asriel is not very cartoony either.
Toriel:
She's the tu-Toriel. She means well.
She knows the monsters and all the wacky antics that ensue.
Not immune to slapstick, but is less susceptible to it than the others.
Borders the line between "straight man" and the "karmic trickster."
However, the "karmic trickster" side is rare, and it's a lot more subtle than Sans.
Her fight consists of classic cartoon gags that Frisk would encounter on their journey.
Her fight is literally a showcase of everything.
She holds back because she still wants to keep Frisk safe.
Sans:
His counterpart is based on none other than Bugs Bunny!
The sly trickster of the group. He uses his wit to get out of work.
Sometimes he can be a bit... strange. Not as strange as Papyrus, but still. Strange.
When he's not being lazy, he's being a nutty trickster to people, mainly Papyrus.
His dynamic with Papyrus is almost exactly like the main game, just 10% wackier.
He likes to trick Undyne too. And Frisk.
Very friendly when not provoked.
More meta than he seems. Most likely to directly break the fourth wall.
Papyrus:
He's pretty cartoony already, so not much has changed.
His puzzles ALWAYS backfire. No matter what. Mostly on himself.
Papyrus can change costumes at the blink of an eye.
He claims to be the straight man, but he's actually much kookier than most of the cast.
Sometimes says random things that don't make sense, but Sans always understands him.
Overconfidence is a curse.
He isn't stupid, but he has stupidly bad luck. His boss battle proves that.
His heart is as big as his wackiness.
Extremely hyperactive sometimes.
VERY prone to slapstick.
Undyne:
Super tough fish with a temper!
Zany, but is very prone to slapstick.
A lot of her pursuits of the human end up with her mistaking Frisk for something or someone else, including a random cactus and Monster Kid.
Sometimes she can get into tunnel vision, making her less likely to see random cartoonish traps.
Made of steel. She can survive anything. Well... almost anything.
Her Undying form is... less toony. She's more powerful and scary.
Her temper can get her into a lot of trouble.
Not stupid. Just impulsive and narrow-minded at times.
Alphys:
A strange case.
She's very much a relatable straight man. But her fantasies can make her just as wacky as the rest.
Her eyes are very expressive, especially around Undyne. They turn into hearts and love bubbles come out of her.
Often foiled with other wackier characters like Undyne and Mettaton.
Shy and polite, but she has a trickster side when pushed too far or reaching for a goal.
Her toon traps are top-notch too! She knows what she's doing!
When she's confident (rare), she can be sarcastic and assertive, at times even flirty.
Mettaton:
Another trickster!
A trickster who can be, again, overconfident with his traps.
Unlike Papyrus and Flowey, though, they DO NOT backfire on him.
His ego is enormous, but he's also incredibly smart.
He knows the rules of the cartoon world. He knows how to cheat the system.
While he isn't immune to slapstick, he tends to initiate it more often than not.
Knows how to put on a good show.
Pretends to be dumb. It's all a trick.
Asgore:
The ultimate straight man.
Very aware of the strange antics of his subjects.
He likes to watch and laugh at their antics. It distracts him from his inner torment.
He can be just as goofy sometimes, especially when he's happy.
He's VERY prone to slapstick, especially since he's a straight man.
Gets stuck everywhere.
When alone, he likes to take things a bit more seriously. He has to for the sake of the kingdom.
After all... Who needs a looney king? (This world does.)
That's it for now!

Do you wanna hear about my off x undertale au of course you do come here (spoilers for both games)
It's called DETERMINATION and the plot is that you're (frisk) kidnapped by space monkeys and you teleport yourself the hell out of there and into a space that looks like undertale and off mashed together (havent thought that part through yet) anddd you gotta get out but the only way out is by going to the queen's palace and then leaving thorugh there ALso you can only leave if you have a determined enough soul which is why no one else has left yet btw they're trapped for a reason i will get to later
so the batter takes the place of flowey which means he is a little ooc in this au but so is literally everyone else and he is chill about you since you're not a specter and he gives a full tutorial besides sparing and then he leaves and the judge finds you (he takes the role of toriel mostly) and offers another tutorial then it's basically just the ruins you can fight ghosts and i think there could be options to spare them but haven't thought that far yet and at the end the judge tests you but even if you lose (get to one hp) he lets you go by cuz you tried unless you did really awful or something you can kill him here but if you do he just ends the game the same way he does in off
the next place is where japhet and valerie are cuz in this au valerie never tried to eat japhet and they're friends and since you're new in town the elsen who live there are scared of you so japhet and valerie are trying to stop you from living (they take the role of papyrus) and there's that battle at the end of the area and they fight together and it's nice
then the next place is where dedan is (he takes the role of undyne) i haven't thought it through very much yet
after that is enoch, who takes the role of mettaton and alphys, he's like this huge celebrity and until the room at the end of the area he just communicates to you through television screens that pop up around the area and if you meet certain conditions you can find out that he made sugar, an addictive substance, to supplement the diet of the elsen that live there cuz there's a meat shortage and he's still using dead bodies to do that
then there's the judgement room where zacharie is. he takes the role of sans and all other shopkeepers and he judges you but really chill-like like he is just "wow you did that cool"
then there's the queen who takes the role of asgore i haven't thought through this yet either but i do know she attacks you since she thinks you're making everyone scared and when she's dying she mistakes you for hugo out of nowhere
then finally you reach the barrier room or whatever and there's also a switch but before you can do anything gadzooks there's the batter and he judges you based on how many specters you killed. i forgot to mention but there are also elsen encounters and unless you calm them down they turn into burnt and you gotta kill them so the batter also judges you on that since they were impure. then no matter what you have to fight him and he probably looks like the bad batter during this
then he dies and you can either leave or flip the switch which turns the world off or something idk
if you calm down all the elsen (and possibly spare the specters or maybe not who cares) and also spare all the bosses you get the cool ending where they all tell the queen how neat and awesome you are and how you're helping make everyone determined enough to escape and then the batter comes in to beat them all up and says you suck since you are so impure and then he beats you up but you're so determined you jsut don't die and he keeps fighting you over and over again but you don't die and you have to help all the bosses be determined enough to keep living and convince the batter he is the one that sucks actually and then everyone leaves idk
you can also kill all the elsen which makes different things happen
japhet and valerie have a different battle where valerie seemingly confronts you alone and if you kill him surprise there was a bird in there and it's more like the off battle
i havent thought through anyone else before judgement hall
the judge is there and he fights you for killing his brother and also those innocent people i guess
then the queen and you kill her and the batter comes in and is like "wow you're even more pure than me that's great kill me and end this world" so you do and then you can pull the switch in the barrier room which definitely ends the world this time and then when you reopen the game you can go back to the beginning and the batter has a worse opinion of you
i didn't explain all the thoughts in my head very well but that's the basics if you read this far make sure to like comment and subscribe and hit that notification bell so you never miss an upload okay peace out

I once wondered if a crossover of undertale and mortasheen do exist, how it would work. So was thinking about the main character... and begin to design them
Frisk: From the wraith civilisation. They have fallen from on a damaged celestial engin Toriel: a difformed goat like mutant, quickly took frisk as one of her many lost lambs and take care of them even if they are unwilling and fleeing her clutch Sans: Mysterious weirdo who is able to do weird spatio-temporal stuff. Maybe not a 'skeleton' after all Papyrus: Sans ''brother'' gullible and can be even befriended but technically a dangerous killing machine Undyne: A vampiric merfolk knight. Patrol the blood cavern in search of intruder Alphys: You average run of the mile mad scientist but darker than the original undertale (not as edgy as underfail but something that rhyme with a poor grasp of what can be considered ethical and no remorse) Napstablook: (ghost and spiritual thing aren't technically canon in mortasheen, but the definition of science in the setting was already stretchy) A psychic manifestation of a deceased person.. Temmy: A experimental mistake who were thrown in a dump. It have spred and build a small "town'' in here Mettaton: pretty much the same as his undertale version but more biopunk(ir: a brain in a machine) Asgore: A powerful but fair darklord that control his small empire with a firm hand. Hate the wraith for some reason flowey/Asriel: The son of toriel and asgore, he received occult experiment on him to help them fight the wraith resulting in the birth of ''flowey'' Flowey is full of resent about what his ''parent did and want the whole world burn Muffet: just your average muffet but a lot bigger
Further oddity of the AU
-The respawn system isn't based on determination. But on cloning. They're some cloning machine spread everywhere on the city, you just need a DNA sample and a clone is spawn when you die (the pacifist/genocide route will be very different or even a complety different nature if their no permadeath) -Frisk didn't receive a phone from toriel but some kind of goat headed worm that she detached from her body. Frisk will wear the creature on their back as it will serve as a some sort of spiritual guide
How the AU can work and some specific story point Undertale AU usually copy the term and story of the original even if it contradictory. (the best exemple is underfail/horrortale who just use the same plot point but try to make it edgier sometime it just dosen't work or barely make any sense) Some plot point may be kept but he whole story and it nature may be changed.. Like rather to kill or not to kill system. It more of a keep your humanity system (rather than the genocide route it the extremly hard YOLO route, no save(cloning) to achieve it -There some rivalery with the wraith and underworld -The celestial machine have weapon of mass destruction -Asgore tried in vain to defeat them -A ''un-exister'' kind of device lie somewhere in the world. It own reality is hotly debated. Sans seem to be aware of it existence -Nobody can truly ''die''(not impossible but vaporising a poor mofo who didn't have any cloning data seem to be the only normal way to permakill) but they will be still pretty pissed if you kill them -frisk wasn't the only member of the wraith who have fallen -Frisk have something inside them, so that why asgore is addement to retrieve it dead body something necessary to build a super weapon -On the main reason why everyone want to take frisk, is they are a ''genetically pure'' human -the amalgate are failed alphys experiment. Some kidnapped human something something involving soul and true immortality (chara vs frisk is kinda murky here, maybe chara itself is just some AI generated tough of wiping clean the earth of all ''evil'') may elaborate later when I will get idea...

I wrote out yet another infodump about my Fanonfell Mettaton on Discord, so I figure that I may as well post it on here too, cringe culture being dead and all that.
Begin copy-paste:
So the thing about Underfell is that it was just a bunch of designs (or descriptions of designs in Mettafell's case) that OP only expounded on with a "canon" later after people were thoroughly having fun making things on thier own, often hilariously edgy (and admittedly sometimes downright unpleasant) directions. Mine's more Horrortale lite than anything resembling Vic's ideas tbh but I don't care I Am Having Fun
But yeah, essentially mine is Mettaton from the eeevil mirror universe where Asgore became bloodthirsty after the deaths of his children instead of empty and dragging the rest of the resentment-filled monsterkind down a "kill or be killed" path right behind him. So a little ghost is still born full of wanting and craving admiration, but he hates humans just as much as everyone else does and REALLY wants to do something about it. He meets Alphys (who really is a total Mad Scientist who's only regret about the Amalgamates is that the experiment failed here) while she's scrounging for parts in the Waterfall rubbish tip (Human Fan Clubs aren't gonna be a thing here). Recognizing ambition, the two hit it off and he becomes something of a lab assistant for a while. Eventually, after yet another round of promises that Asgore is not going to keep, Alphys realizes he'd be the perfect host for a human-hunting robot, one designed to prey on the fear of humans (insects, things with big mouths full of razor-sharp teeth and hands with razor claws, things that look superficially human but are "off"…). Mettaton is delighted at first, and he merges with the body, celebrating both all the newfound sensations and the promise of purpose.
But of course, the barrier wasn't broken, and he quickly finds himself purposeless again. By the time we meet him he is…not doing well In an inverse of canon, Alphys ends up pulling away, completely absorbed in her work and desperation to get back into Asgores good graces, so he is quite alone. His body eventually becomes a bit of a clusterfuck held together by electrical tape and hope due to his often having to repair himself following violent altercations with other monsters. He starts blaming his appearance for the reason he feels so empty, wondering if his decision to become corporeal was a mistake in the first place.
His switch is jammed, so he no longer can switch to his oval-shaped power saver mode, meaning he has to recharge pretty often. But, Alphys often locks the lab while she's working as a safety precaution, meaning he has to scrounge for food and available electrical outlets like a man in an airport as an alternative. While I'm not 100% sure how they first meet, he strikes up quite a toxic friendship with Papyrus, captain of the royal guard. Papyrus is just as desperately lonely as he is in canon, but he fears showing weakness and his emotionality comes in the form of quite a nasty temper. Mettaton needs the protection of the third most powerful monster in the Underground, and Papyrus doesn't know how to keep a friend without having collateral over them, so while they both want the companionship they make each other thoroughly miserable. Papyrus ends up getting him a job as an actor in the capital… as the villain in bizarre and terrible propaganda films the crown produces, turning his face into an easy target for the public's resentment.
His fortunes begin to change twofold: he agrees to be the lab rat in an experiment of Alphys' that will apparently open up a door into an adjacent dimension, allowing the Underfell monsters to invade and hopefully impressing Asgore again. This apparently fails, but it establishes a mental link with the Mettaton living the adjacent universe, Lust Mettaton. The two end up hitting it off due to how similar they are under the surface and the way they both are dealing with skeletons they have mixed feelings about.
Concurrently to his growing relationship with Lust Mettaton, he hears from Papyrus that another human has fallen into the Underground, he and Alphys hatch a scheme that he plans to betray in the end. He will gain the human's trust as they are publicly menaced by the mad scientist, only to lead them to an execution point in the CORE and kill them in glorious and public fashion, handing the SOUL over to Alphys after. However, he goes rogue. He's just… done at this point and figures that leaving on his own to hunt humans on the surface is his only real chance to improve his circumstances at all. Unfortunately, the superpowered Frisk royally kicks his ass in front of the whole world on said soundstage and the infamous Underfell comic where he's viciously harassed until he ends his life nearly happens until the boundaries between realities finish breaking (causing cataclysmic damage) and his fellow tormented robot lands quite unceremoniously upon his head.
Thus begins his road to improving his self-esteem and kicking a lot of ass alongside his two companions (the aftermentioned Lust Mettaton as well as canon NEO from an aborted No Mercy run). He develops an interest in fashion, but if Canon Mettaton looks like an explosion at Claire's he looks like an explosion at a 90s hot topic. He looks like he took one look at Shadow the Hedgehog and went "you know what, this is my gender now". By the end he's become so fond of himself and the things that make him unique and monstrous that in the end, when No Mercy survivor Alphys offers to repair the accumulated damage on him and change him into something he likes better, the only cosmetic change made besides fixing the damage is a THIRD pair of arms.

Since I took a break from U.K., I decided to look at what I've got so far and maybe fix some mistakes, but either way, some extra info on the main cast (SPOILERS AHEAD).
Frisk: The protagonist of the story. Even after being killed, they still came back, and now try to figure out what happened, and try to get back to humanity.
Flowey: A suspicious looking buttercup. Pretty much maintains his old personality, although, something isn't clearly the same.
Hayde: A member of the Royal Guard. Despite being in san's position, Hayde is far less lazier, and actually (try at least to) do their job. In short they're far from san's personality.
Papyrus: One of the most important members of the Royal Guard. After Undyne couldn't function in the Royal Guard, he ended up taking her place. However, if something happens that even Papyrus can't figure out, he can always ask Undyne if he can't figure it out on his own. Or he just comes to visit her. He often constructs puzzles with Hayde if they need some extra hands. I could ramble about papyrus for an eternity, but there's just way too much to cover.
Alphys: The Royal Scientist. Despite the Amalgamates having been discovered, Alphys managed to keep her job due to the situation they've been put in after the barrier was destroyed. She has helped with building the city (aka Hotland/core) and some great other stuff. But, there's still something laying deep beneath Alphy's lab...
Undyne: The former Royal Guard Leader. Due to health conditions after barely surviving in her undying form (which can be seen on her ears) she couldn't function properly as a leader anymore. However, she still gives sport training to whoever wants, and assists Papyrus with his job. I also could talk about undyne, but I'll come back to her an other day.
Mettaton: He's the star of monsterkind. He still has his TV show which he runs with Napstablook and Shyren. After being heavily damaged on the genocide run (not killed) Alphys managed to save him, and give some upgrades to him. He also asked the dummies for assistance, so we can say he reunited with his family.
Toriel: The queen of monsterkind. After the barrier was destroyed, Asgore left the throne to her after somewhat calming the whole situation they were put in. Toriel is still making her pies, but struggles to maintain any sort of plants, which explains the lack of them in her house and throne room. She has complex feelings regarding Asgore.
Asgore: After leaving the throne he takes care of the graveyard in the former throne room. He also takes care of surface home, a place where monsters that we're to terrified to go too far from the mountain live. Some even still live underground. Asgore is capable of maintaining flowers and plants in a healthy condition, but struggles on cooking (he's still improving).
Muffet: A spider that runs a successful bakery. Thanks to advice from a certain person with a hidden face, she ended up lowering the prices, but ended up selling more of her food, yet get the same amount of money. However, she can still get quite greedy.
Mystery man: an unknown being, trapped in the void where no one will remember you (except some followers who are referring to Gaster, and a few monsters. Nobody actually confirmed that this thing we call Gaster is actually Gaster, he could be someone else.
Chara and Asriel: the two dead children of Asgore and Toriel. Chara and Asriel gave somewhat changed their appearance, but their roles haven't changed much. Chara (my headcanon) reawoke as a narrator, while Asriel is still flowey.
Sans: He's dead. That's it. Little to no people know the true reason why his life came to an abrupt end. And his fate is undetermined.

Got one for you: Undertale characters realizing their sweet and seemingly harmless S/O has a pretty high LV due to a series of, quite frankly, horrible events in their childhood?
Undertale Sans - He's very disturbed and bothered about this. Since it's in your childhood, he doesn't want to make a fuss about this, it's in the past, but he can't act normally after this. Sometimes, he gets really cold for no reason, sometimes a bit too abrupt move can make him jump. He's not trusting you like before, and especially not close from his brother. He knows he's acting like a jerk, but you're not the only one to have deal with a high LV in the past. If he feels too uncomfortable and insecured, he might even leave.
Undertale Papyrus - Papyrus really doesn't care. Obviously, it's in the past and he can changed everything about it. In the end, you made the right decision, so you can't be all bad. Everyone can be a good person if they just try. But, in a very serious way, he makes you promise to never ever talk about this to his brother. Break that promise, and he will not be able to prevent Sans being overprotective when you're around Papyrus. He'll make sure you're never alone with him ever again.
Undertale Toriel - She is very affecting by this. After what happened with Asgore, she is avoiding high-LV people, because it reminds her too much of what HE did. But on the other way, she can't blame you for her own past. It will take some time, maybe even a small break, for her to accept this. As long as your LV is stable and that everything you did stays in the past, she will get over it.
Undertale Asgore - He can't really judge you now, can he ? Asgore has a high-LV too, and he knows better than anyone how hard it can be to get over it in a relationship, even if what you did was in the past. He's happy you trust him enough to told him about this. He might actually open a bit more about his own past after this. Healing is always easier when you are not alone.
Undertale Undyne - With time, she can go over it, but when she discovers it, she will be absolutely furious. It's not because of you, it's because a promise she did to herself. Her dad had high-LV, and she promised to never be like him, to never trust someone like him again. And now there's you, and she's hurt and angry at herself because she doesn't want to leave you, but she can't just accept this blindly. Undyne is completely lost and not sure about her feelings now. It will take a long time to repair your relationship.
Undertale Alphys - As scientist, she has that habit of scanning people, that's how she discovers it. She can't really judge you either. Alphys also killed people, except they didn't die and turned into Amalgamates. She is quite understanding about this. She knows how one mistake can lead to horrible events. As long your LV keeps stable and you still loves anime, she doesn't pay attention about this.
Undertale Frisk - *nervous sweating* Well, obviously, you didn't do what they did Underground, but it's still making them a bit uncomfortable. They doesn't care for your specific case, it doesn't change anything between you two, but Frisk is really scared Sans finds out. Because Sans will definitely not like that, and it's going to fall back right on their shoulders. Now that things are more peaceful between the skeleton and them, they don't want to lose his trust again. So, please, just like with Papyrus, never let Sans see your soul.
Undertale Chara - That's an absolute dealbreaker. After what Frisk did, after what humanity did to them, Chara can't get over this. Violence is the reason they fell Underground and they betrayed their own values with Frisk. There's no way they're dealing with this again. Goodbye.
Undertale Mettaton - He wants to make a movie about your tragic backstory. Except that, he really doesn't care. I mean, the guy threats to kill people with a chainsow in one show out of two so... If he can make money of it, he'll be happy. Else, he really doesn't give a shit.
Undertale Gaster - *nervous sweating, the return* Well... He can't really judge you either because he fought in the war between humans and monsters. Killing people, killing humans just for experimentation was something he was doing every day, and he was actually liking that very much. So... Uh... He can't really just put his hands on his hips and say "Bad human" without feeling very guilty all of the sudden. It's best if you and him never bring back that subject ever again.
Undertale Grillby - A bit like Gaster, he was a fighter during the war too, but he's really not proud of what he had to do to survive. As long as your high-LV is justified by necessity, he will not judge you and will not question it either. But if you did it only for fun, or without a good reason, it will be way more complicated for him, as he will feel quickly insecured around you. It's better if you tell him too. If he finds out by himself, he will be very hurt about this. He talks about how war scarred him all the time, so he would see that as a betrayal.
Undertale Muffet - She is disturbed of how good you're hiding it. But she finds this quite comforting. That means you can defend yourself easily, and that's all she wants to know. Muffet wants her S/O safe, it's the only thing that really matters with her. And anyway, sometimes, she kidnaps people just because they don't pay, so morality and stuff...
Undertale Burgerpants - Pretty ironically, it's making him feel safer. Knowing that you might break Mettaton in two if he's pissing him too much is such a nice feeling. He won't say anything, even if you're still killing people. As long you're not killing him, he doesn't care. He will complain a bit more often about Mettaton though. You know... Just in case you might have ideas. WINK WINK.

With Deltarune Chapter 2 being out, a lot of people are theorizing about a bunch of stuff, and I saw one theory from the undertale times reappear, about Chara controlling the player character into committing the no mercy route. So, I’d like to present you my counter theory, aka “Chara Is Not Evil: Undertale Theory”, which I’m putting under the readmore bc this will be a long one.
((a note which i added here after finishing writing this: it’s less of a theory and more of a presentation of a theme of pressure that is present during the entire game and how it affected a literal kid into doing what they did. I plan on making this into a series of rambles which put togheter will be the very messy counter theory.
So, I’d like to start with powerful fundaments for my theory, which why I’d like to talk about the reoccuring theme of responsibility and pressure.
Each important character of Undertale has a reason for why they have to fight the human. Each has a drive, that makes them stand in front of a literal child, block their way, to achieve a certain goal.
The first monster like that is Toriel. The queen of underground, the person which didn’t lose one child, didn’t lose 2 children, but lost a whole set of 8 kids. Chara, Asriel, and the 6 fallen kids which we know that she stopped and cared for, till they decided to leave. When Frisk tells her that they want to leave, she is placed under the pressure of fear, that another child she cared for is going to be killed.
Next we meet Papyrus. Aspiring Royal Guard with no friends who is trying to prove his worth. While walking through Snowdin we can see the many ways Papyrus is trying to prove his worth, through construction of puzzles, traps, as well as visual masterpieces that are the Papyrus snowman or the bridge (yes, that is a stone bridge that Papyrus hyperrealistically painted to resemble a wooden bridge). Capturing a human would mean that all his dreams would come true. He would become the hero of underground, prove to Undyne he is worthy enough to join the royal guard, and obtain fame and friendship.
Next we meet Undyne, the heroine of underground who is relentless in trying to hunt down the human. She knows humanity as a great danger to monsterkind and their souls as last hope of freedom. When Frisk appears, for her it means there is a threat to those she cares about as well as a chance for finally breaking free. She can feel the responsibility of being the captain of royal guard, the force responsible for capturing/killing humans. The hopes and dreams of entire underground.
Next we meet Alphys. A scientist who is trying to live up to the genius of the previous royal scientist who mysteriously disappeared. She has a basement full of people who she was trying to save from dying, only for it to bring unforseen consequences, the creation of amalgamates. She has a crush that she is too scared to ask out. And she has a lot of negative emotions about herself. The pressure from the job and emotions, responsibility for her mistakes.
Then there is Mettaton. Star of the Underground that was bringing hope to the lives of monsters, keeping their spirits up during very hard times. We meet his fans all over the place, people who have a reason to keep going thanks to him. We know he dreams of being the ultimate star, of making it big, afterall, he is the hope of underground, the shining light. And the soul of a human would let him go above it.
Then there is Muffet. While she is a lesser character, the theme is still there. There is a whole family of poor spiders that she is trying to support.
Asgore. The King of the Underground. While walking through every location, we hear quite a lot about him. We know he is loved by his people. He goes to the school to help with teaching kids, he talks with his citizens, he takes the role of santa during christmas, but most importantly, he is working towards freeing the monster kind. Waging a war against humanity, he has collected 6 out of 7 souls needed, monsterkind is on the verge of freedom. When walking around New Home, you meet a lot of monsters, which are talking with you about it. The entire underground is placing their hope in this old, divorced man, who lost his entire family. And we know it’s an incredible weight on his shoulders.
And Asriel. The kid that put everything on one card, lost his best and only friend, and then found himself in the form of a flower, unable to feel love. During the fight with him, we can see how much he wants to win. We can also once again see the monsters we met along the way, the goals they want to achieve, their fears, the pressure that they feel.
I could go on and on about this, but what I’m trying to tell here, is that this theme of having a certain goal and being put under incredible pressure to achieve it is a theme that’s HEAVILY REOCCURING thorough the entire game. It’s literally everywhere.
And here comes Chara.
A kid, who hates humanity, and climbs the legendary mountain. The mountain which, as the legend says, all who climb will never be seen again. They fall down into the Underground and are adopted into a loving family of monsters. Then they find out that all those monsters that have shown so much compassion to them are trapped in that mountain. Trapped by humans. And that with the power of their soul, a monster could cross the barrier to obtain enough souls to break it, and free monsterkind. Then they find out about the legend, of an angel who comes from above to free monsterkind.
Chara lived with the royal family, the one which was supposed to care for all monsters and have definetily been under a lot of pressure because of that. The pressure, that Toriel and Asgore felt during that time must’ve been something that their kids noticed and felt too.
Chara, this kid already had plenty of reasons to hate humanity. And then was only given more and more, and they were a human themself. They could pay for the crimes of humanity and at the same repay the kindness they received from monsters.
It’s the pattern that we observed through the entire game, where each character is under incredible pressure, and it all builds up and builds up till we reach a kid who sacrificed themself to save monsterkind.
I know this is like, less of a theory and more of a ramble. And it’s not really well structured or anything like that. I just wanted to clearly present under how much pressure this poor kid was, to explain why they did what they did.
In the future I might write more about Chara to show different proof of why they aren’t evil. And with that add more about the role Asriel played in the plan, as that’s also an important part.
#undertale#deltarune#chara#chara is not evil: epic theory#that's the tag im gonna use for this lil series#god this is so messy#im open to critique#and your thoughts on this

Renaissance
“YOU’RE ACTING VERY ODDLY, SANS.” Noted Papyrus one morning when he bumped into his brother on his way to the stairs. Sans wasn’t really ready for the day, his pajamas rumpled and his eyes sleepy, but that wasn’t out of the ordinary for him. What was strange was the fact that he was carrying a basket full of dirty laundry and was on his way to put them in the wash. If it had been the first and only time, Papyrus might have hugged him with joy and thanked the Angel for miracles. But that had happened over a week ago and Sans had since done this and other chores without prompting several more times. Blinking up at him with an expression that very clearly said that he wasn’t really all awake, Sans tried to grin. “What do you mean? I’m just trying to get some clean clothes, is that so weird?” “YES,” said Papyrus. “ YOU LEFT A SOCK ON THE LIVING ROOM FLOOR FOR OVER A MONTH, PROBABLY LONGER WITH THE RESETS IF WE’RE BEING HONEST.“ That encouraged a snicker from Sans. “It’s still there actually.” “I’M WELL AWARE. BUT DON’T TRY TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT! YOU’VE BEEN ALARMINGLY ACTIVE FOR YOU AND I INTEND TO FIND OUT WHY.” Sans gave him a thumbs up and a wink and Papyrus glared at him before stalking down the stairs, his head tilted up to give an air of disdain towards his brother, who laughed. Breakfast was an interesting affair. The Egg and Cheese Breakfast Muffins that Papyrus had made were pretty enough to look at, though entirely inedible. He’d found the recipe in a book at the dump and had been attempting to recreate the dish. The only real reason this batch hadn’t gone quite right was because they’d gone rock solid at some point during the baking. Still, he’d also made some bacon, so they’d eaten that. There was much less of a restriction on food nowadays. Normally food was collected and sold through the vendors with a stock being held in reserve in case the fields stopped producing or the garbage stopped flowing. But since the world would reset every few weeks the reserves weren’t kept as big and more foods were allowed through. Some monsters, like Papyrus, were taking advantage of the excess to experiment more with various dishes. Sans had to admit that his brother’s cooking skills were improving by leaps and bounds, and only rarely ended with something they couldn’t actually eat.
Everyone’s lives had been severely rattled by the recent events. Sans hadn’t realized how much would have to change in their new circumstances. With no need to spend time and effort farming or collecting food and resources to maintain their lives, many Monsters had turned to entertainment. At first Mettaton’s tv show boomed with success as the only real official source of digital entertainment the Underground had to offer. But it was only two Resets into their new lives that the first alternatives had begun popping up all over. Amateur musicians began uploading videos of songs to the Undernet, either of their own composition or covers of existing songs like the “Angel’s Prayer” that children were fond of singing. Not all of them were spectacular, but they got the enthusiasm, praise, and encouragement of everyone in the Underground anyway. Not a single video went unseen, and several more were created because some Monsters were inspired by what they’d seen and heard. The Spiders who lived in Hotland put on a televised performance of Web Swinging crossed with Ballet where they performed “Coppélia” to the absolute delight of all their viewers. Even the Queen, seemingly returned from death overnight and the cause of much initial confusion and fright in the populace, made a concerted effort to aid Monsters in reforming their lives in some constructive way despite the lack of work. She founded a school where all those who wished to learn were invited, regardless of their age, and various Monsters were invited to come lecture or teach all kinds of subjects to whoever wanted to learn them. Since no school building could be made that would stay past the Resets, they made do with hundreds of tents upon the crystal starlit fields of the Grand Cavern. Both Papyrus and Sans had signed up for some of these. Toriel’s baking classes were fun and there were often treats to be sampled afterward, including her famous Snail Pie. Though Papyrus would groan in feigned agony as Sans and Toriel shot pun after pun back and forth at one another while working, he didn’t really seem to mind all that much and occasionally would contribute a pun of his own, though Sans could never quite tell if it was intentional or not. Old Seam it seemed had decided to participate in the fun as well. Though he’d been a soldier in the wars and now ran a little shop in New Home, he seemed thrilled to totter his way all the way down to the School in order to teach magic tricks. Young Monsters sat wide eyed with astonishment as the old Cat-Monster made lights appear and vanish, caused rubber balls to pop endlessly from his mouth only to turn into wisps of smoke when he dropped them one by one into a glass of water, or make his wheezy laughing voice come from various objects such as Queen Toriel’s teapot or a desk or someone’s stack of books. Everybody loved the tricks and spent a great deal of time trying to learn how to do them, with limited success. Toriel only stepped in once in order to stop Monster Kid from doing his own version of one of Seam’s best tricks, which involved sawing a volunteer in half and having their lower half walk around a stage before somehow putting them back together. Wherever you looked, Monsters were creating and innovating, finding new ways to create a working life. When the world Reset itself, they’d start new projects, continued practicing hobbies, set up tents or made temporary stages for performances or meetings. Games were played, songs written, and some particularly industrious people still found ways to put themselves to work. Through it all, Sans was beginning to feel more and more like he was being cornered. Monsters talked, and many of them wanted justice for the Resets and the loss of any chance to escape from the Underground. Others weren’t sure it mattered anymore as long as the human continued their duty of Resetting, or thought maybe the human should stay hidden in the Ruins even as they Reset the world every few weeks. Whispers mentioned the Judge. Surely the Judge would know what to do? Surely surely the Judge could tell them what was right?
He hated it. With each passing day the idea of having to tell the truth about his position inched closer and closer to reality. Even as the Queen avoided him outside the structured time of their classes, and Alphys grew obsessed with perfecting the Solution so she could undo her terrible mistake, Sans found himself finding ways to stay busy, to keep moving. If he never paused for too long he wouldn’t have to think too hard about his role. Wouldn’t have to wonder how he was going to live up to their expectations. The Royal Judge wasn’t supposed to be a public duty, it was something secret, private. The Judge was an ordinary monster for a reason, someone who could judge even the King or Queen fairly if it came to it. Now... He wasn’t sure he could judge fairly, not after everything. And while the whole Underground waited for his decision. No, he didn’t want it. But there wasn’t going to be much choice. Wishing, not for the first time, that he could just fly away in a rocket ship to mars and never look back, Sans occupied himself by helping Mettaton with a class about Acting Methods. Specifically he was supposed to come in and try to sell a Hot Dog to Mettaton while the other reacted in various ways depending on the character being portrayed. It was silly, and watching the robot prance around and loudly proclaim his own virtues to his audience was kind of fun. It was like everything was still normal. Even though the world had changed and it felt like nothing could be the same, there were still things that wouldn’t change.

Your Ask Blog is really cool! Since your last one was on the subject of roommates, what would Undyne, Papyrus, and Mettaton be like as roommates if you don't mind me asking?
ey, thank you!!
these roommate ones are always so thought-provoking, I love ‘em
honestly I think I would love to be roommates with Paps or Undyne <3
METTATON
Ahem, heritage aside, he really is more of a ghost than anybody else. It comes with the territory of being a celebrity in that he’s often away, either on tour or film sets/music studios for long stretches or just frequently out during the day. He does his best to keep himself ‘at home’ as much as possible, but a lot of the time it just… isn’t possible. When he’s filming, unless it’s local, he stays in hotels. Ditto for tours, as well as having a genuine tour bus. So his roommate isn’t actually likely to see him all that often unless they try to keep up via calls, texts, video chats, etc. Which, of course, he’s very much open to!
When he is at home, expect him to probably be sleeping/charging. Being humanity’s star is exhausting, darling! The house is a place to relax, mostly, somewhere he can decompress without worrying about rehearsals or a busy schedule. Even someone like Mettaton who enjoys the attention and the fast-paced lifestyle needs a break every now and then. He does like that when he comes back to the house, his roommate is still there and happy to see him. It’s a little bit of normalcy and the kind of constancy he needs when he has his downtime.
Roommate probably gets a bunch of MTT merch? Particularly the ‘older’ stuff that’s sitting around so he can make room for new inventory. They’ll get shirts or plushies, things of that nature, half as an apology for not being around much and half because he’s trying to get rid of it. If he sees them wearing one of the T-shirts or displaying any of it, it… sort of warms his heart a bit. They’re outdated designs, but his roommate still treasures them? That’s… very sweet.
All in all he’s not a bad roommate even though he’s not around much. He’s neat and tidy when he is at the house, he always pays his portion of the rent/mortgage early (and has no issues covering his roommate’s portion a few times if they need him to), and is more than happy to make friends with his roommate as well. There are definitely worse roommates to have!
PAPYRUS
WOWIE, he is just so excited to share a living space with someone other than his messy, lazybones brother!!! Papyrus is out of the house more often than one might expect, between tries at different jobs and also taking his cool car out for everyone to gawk at. That said, he’s often out during the day and home in the evening and at night, so it’s certainly not as if he’s never home. At the very least, it means his roommate worrying about him not being home when it’s dark out will be a very rare occurrence. Coupled with this is the fact that he answers calls and texts religiously. His roommate will probably know where he is at any given time, because Papyrus almost never leaves without informing them in some way or another.
Sans hangs around a lot when he’s able, especially if Papyrus is out working and Sans is free! He enjoys spending time with his little bro’s roomie… and Papyrus, for his part, likes it if his big brother and his roommate get along. It’s almost like the two of them have another member of the family. Even though they and Papyrus are ‘just’ roommates, (Name) really should be prepared to be basically adopted as a sibling. Papyrus physically cannot not get emotionally attached to someone he shares a house with, and Sans is only too happy to treat his baby bro’s friend as part of the family. It’s… nice, really, how quickly these two default to treating Papyrus’ roommate like they’ve known (Name) all their lives.
Oh!! He most definitely does a lot of the cooking! As to how edible it is, eh… the results vary, since he’s attempting to get better at the culinary arts, but one thing is true: (Name) will have more pasta in a week than they could possibly eat in a month. It’ll be a wonder if they’re not sick of pasta in a few weeks, and yet, well… Papyrus is surprisingly effective at figuring out different combinations so that they never have the exact same meal twice. Unless his roommate happens to be a spaghetti aficionado like himself…? Ah, well. Either way, he’s more than delighted to handle meals, especially if his roommate isn’t much of a cook themselves. If they are, however, it’s just one more way the two of them can bond!!!
Overall he can be a bit ‘much’ simply because he’s an excitable, enthusiastic fellow who never seems to run out of energy. He might be a handful for people who prefer things quieter, but largely he’s the type who can get along with most people. He’s clean and organized, usually pays his part of the rent/mortgage on time, and is a very personable guy. Even someone who isn’t crazy about him at first will be hard-pressed to call him a bad roommate!
UNDYNE
NGAH, it’ll be nice to share a place with someone since she’s been so used to being on her own!! Well… she’s pretty sure it will be, anyway. She’s accustomed to being independent, so it takes a little bit of adjustment when it comes to the cohabitation thing. She’s been living in her own house by herself for so long, it’s… weird… to remember that there’s also another person in her house. That it’s not just her house. She does spend a lot of time out since, even on the surface, she works with the Royal Guard to keep the monster community safe, watch out for humans in danger too, etc., make sure everyone’s holding hands and singing Kum Ba Yah and all that good shit. She prefers to be home after dark, though, so her roommate will definitely be seeing a lot of her.
Alphys is over a lot, as is Papyrus! And also sometimes Napstablook if they’re not on tour with Mettaton. Undyne is the kind of person who has a lot of good friends, and Papyrus especially is used to coming over to hang out at her house with her. As long as there are clear boundaries and her roommate doesn’t mind having guests over frequently, it shouldn’t be a problem. Although… sometimes Undyne will drag (Name) into anime movie nights! Resistance is futile, abandon all hope, but the flip side is that she’ll also let them drag her into pretty much anything as well. Despite the fact that roommates don’t have to be besties, she… thinks it’s a lot! More! Tolerable! When two people living together are friends! That makes sense, right?
… Man, she’s intense, though, as is her job. Sometimes she gets called away at odd hours if something is happening crime-wise, particularly if the human police find that they need help from the Royal Guard. There are times she’s technically off her shift, that she has to suddenly disappear from the house for a while. Hopefully her roommate won’t worry too much… it’s kind of hard not to, though, isn’t it? Once they’ve gotten to know her and enjoy her company, occasionally anxiety happens when Undyne has to go off at weird times. It means a lot if (Name) talks to her after she gets back, or the next morning or whenever, to let her vent about crap!
She’s very intimidating, especially to shyer people, but after a little while, it hopefully won’t be a huge problem. Although she tends to forget when the rent/mortgage is due, and she can potentially make a lot of messes, she’s also super willing to fix her mistakes and try to be better in the future. If she screws something up in any way, you bet your ass she’ll also clean it up. She’s a surprisingly good roommate, with both a great heart and head on her shoulders, who cares about whoever she’s living with. It’s not so bad after all!!
