Instead of venting this time, I thought I could give my thoughts on a small situation going on in the cartoon community. After hearing my art senpai Teacup mentioning it, seeing the various /co/ threads, and seeing the comic lumped in with such comics like the furry coworker comic and the rape spider comic, I felt compelled to write down my thoughts about the Erin Basca comic that went viral for trauma with an art professor. Not so much the comic itself, moreover why the work sparked such backlash/ aggressively appethic response.

The comic made me incredibly uncomfortable, as it would for a lot of people. I hate looking at anything that reminds me of when a male friend betrayed me. Everything with the tears, questioning reality, being afraid to talk about it because what if no one believes me. After all the tears went away, I thought the experience was funny for a time... but the more it came back, the more I opened up to people about the way he violated me, the more upset I felt. I see people drawing out their traumas like this and I find myself not being able to relate. I don't think I could ever illustrate what happened to me (with the exception of that nightmare I had but I used it as inspiration rather than to vent about what happened irl). I wish it never happened, or maybe I wish he had done worse to me so the trauma feels more... legit? So I can stop questioning reality. But I really don't want to be a victim at all, I don't want any of this to affect me so much. If I could as for anything to come out of this past experience, I would want Sean to apologize to me, have some kind of closure that he cared about me at all. And that's what makes this experience so painful, I feel like a fucking moron for trusting him and thinking he was attracted to me out of love. I was 14, but the feeling is still prevalent, the need to victim blame myself.

But that's my self-inserting into someone else's experience. So why such venom hurled at this piece of work? There are other art works discussing the artist's sexual trauma. But this one seemingly has more backlash than others, people even drew Erin x Muppet Creep nsfw. I think there are a few reasons why people are so critical. 1. The framing. 2. the ending 3. post MeToo 4. goofy villain design 5. the vagueness

I think with the combination of the way the comic is framed, the way the artist practically portrays herself as a martyr, the feeling of hero being defeated by a villain, and the fact that she's being groomed by a muppet makes this comic difficult to be taken seriously . The muppet look is most likely very intentional because muppets are usually family-friendly and inviting, and Erin is even portrayed as a puppet at some point. That doesn't stop it from being a very goofy design, the faces of this guy is very meme-worthy. The memes to come out of this are pretty funny. I think most people had the same reaction I did, feeling uncomfortable. And people might make jokes about this very serious uncomfortable topic to levitate the tension, not to make fun of Erin herself. I especially like the memes where it is reversed and she's being molest-y to muppet mc creep.

There's several social issues that has people talking. Post-MeToo has people questioning the stories people come out with. I'm glad false allegations are being taken more seriously but it has the court of public opinion yelling at each other. So Erin could have gone through something truly fucked up, and people are calling her a liar and that she must have liked it, and its her fault for getting involved with an older married man, and as soon as she found out she's only being used as an outlet outside of his marriage, she has regret and files sexual harassment. Regardless of speculation. It's especially when the story is so vague. We don't know how far the sexual harassment went, the specific words he used to manipulate her, other than that email. We just will never know exactly. Which leads into the topic of "adult grooming" discourse. If adults can be groomed, where's the line between manipulation to the point where the adult can't consent, and where personal responsibility must be taken to the person affected

I've seen a lot of au and I want to do something like this. But knowing my resources, I understand that I will not pull something like this. Therefore,

Based on that, there is an easel in the room of Grimm and Yuu. I think that Yuu draws amazing.

What could be better than sitting in peace and quiet, away from all the hustle and bustle of college and errands from Crowley. Mixing paints or choosing the right composition. Find some vintage vintage frames for your paintings. Or even equip an entire workshop for your creativity!!

Definitely a spacious room with large windows and light floors (Light is very important when painting pictures. Therefore, often the floor is light in such workshops) Definitely ghosts helped to choose the best room for this purpose. And they are watching the process itself with sincere curiosity.

When the weather is suitable, Yuu often goes out to planer on the college grounds. Usually, the Grimm always follows Yuu like a his tail. Because she can find such beautiful landscapes that not all students have even heard about it.

Grimm is a fan of warming up and taking a nap in the sun. Sometimes he has the mood to join the art!! But he often gets tired of holding the brushes, and he literally draws with his paws.

Yuu always looks with undisguised childish delight at how Grimm is diligently trying to make a straight line. In most cases, a huge number of prints of his paws remain on the canvas.

Grimm was upset at first that he did not come out as "neat" as Yuu. But he was quickly encouraged by the words that it was "his handwriting"

After explaining the principle of painting paintings in impressionism, Grimm no longer holds brushes and simply leaves his traces on the canvas until he has enough strength.

Yuu always makes small frames for each "masterpiece of the unsurpassed Great Master and artist Grimm"

Yuu asks him to make the signature shorter.

When the days are especially calm, Yuu approaches the ghosts-employees of the college. Asking them to be models for portraits. Because students will definitely ask for payment.

Considering that ghosts are not particularly noticeable in mirrors ( Forgive my ignorance, but I do not know if ghosts are reflected. If you consider that a photo with them can only turn out on Halloween )

They burst into tears at the thought that they could see themselves after several decades. And the fact that Yuu will not take payment from them. Very often, ghosts buy their own portraits from Yuu.

In college, there was almost a serious conflict among the ghosts because of whose turn it was to be a model for Yuu.

Now the prefect of Onboro has a record scheduled for two weeks in advance.

Yuu secretly makes a "manicure" on the portrait of Rosalyn next to the teacher's room. The girl depicted in the portrait was delighted with these small changes that diversified her leisure time.

Rosalyn is now very carefully choosing the design and color for this monthly tradition. A couple of times, Yuu drew her additional earrings or flower wreaths.

Teachers are still puzzling over where this came from.

Rosalyn tells at the "manicure" all the latest news or gossip that she has heard or knows. Sometimes she asks to paint her lips with a certain shade to give Yuu air kisses when saying goodbye.

Of course, Yuu drew all her friends or senpai. And even selected certain costumes for them. Only these albums or paintings Yuu has to hide so that no one sees it, otherwise she will have to pay off the "models", She is really afraid of how they will react.

But naturally, one single person found out about it...yes, the Rook. We're talking about you. He noticed a stack of albums in Yuu backpack while she was walking with an easel and looking for the right place under a tree near the botanical garden.

Yuu was ready to fight to the death just to get her albums out of the hands of a curious hunter.

This stalker showed several Vil...to her great horror..

Yuu had to explain for two hours why she took this or that concept or shade for a sketch or a full-fledged picture. Also with details or clothing.

Vil liked this fresh look, an inexperienced person. And also Yuu has a part-time job in creating decorations for his club.

It is difficult for Yuu to remember a lot of magical information, so she often makes "visual cards" - they were informative and clearly answered the necessary questions. That soon became popular throughout the class.

Ace and Deuce often took them to exams as spurs. It became easier for Grimm to remember.

When Deuce asked Yuu to help with a magic spell.

She is the only non-magical student in the entire college. Her knowledge of magic was only enough to answer the tests, but not in practice. Help? with a spell? Deuce? Deuce Spade are you sure you're healthy ?

Deuce had to explain to her, seeing her confused face, that he had not hit his head, and this was not a prank from Ace.

The fact is that Yuu imagination is much better and he thought that this could help. The director said that magicians are either engaged in writing or drawing in order to more clearly represent magic in their head.

Plus, Yuu can safely ask for help from others and Deuce thought that this should not be something "bad" if you need advice or a look from the outside. Even despite all his pride and stubbornness.

And so Deuce secretly began to learn how to "visualize" his magic.

At first, he broke pencils an insane number of times. His pressed too hard or even made holes in the papper.

Yuu explained that first he trains his hand by drawing in the "air above the sheet", then he also tries on paper.

Deuce at first did not even understand how you can "draw in the air", but after seeing how Yuu trains to draw a Sigil circle (a magic circle if you want) then he quickly grabbed what was what and it became easier for him to handle the tools. To help and choose your own style for Deuce, Yuu suggested using simple forms to start with. Circles, squares, arrows or pointers. The simplest thing that could come up.

Deuce literally started drawing a graphic instruction for the spell. With a bunch of arrows and pointers. And so Yuu came to the conclusion that Deuce strong point is fast lines, with strong pressing and sharply outlined.

On the exam, Deuce scored a phenomenal 92 points, falling just a few short of 94, due to a couple of completely stupid mistakes with pointers. He was very nervous and made mistakes when directing magic.

He was so happy and proud of himself that he promised Yuu to do everything she asked. (Usually it was about helping to carry bags of food or small harmless errands) And also did not let her out of his arms for a good 6 minutes.

Of course, he told his mother about it. Good boy.

Ace literally stopped talking to him for two hours that day out of envy and hurt pride.

For Grimm, this is the style of "cat tracks" taking a certain shape at the end. And he also learned to control not to blow out a huge flame at once. And for example, to light small candles. Over time, his fire became much more manageable. But he still has a lot to learn.

Yuu was grateful that now all the firewood in the fireplaces in Onboro does not turn into ashes in just a second.

I absolutely ADORED the “Don’t toy with Me” fic for Tenya! I was wondering if you could maybe relocate that one scene in “don't toy with me miss nagatoro” in where Senpai(Or Tenya) sketches Nagatoro(reader) while she is alsleep I thought that scene was so Romantic!!!! Please and thank you! ❤️

A/N: This takes place before the beach, just like in the show. Again everyone is in college.

Tenya learned to draw people when he was a little kid. He used to have his brother pose for him, but it never really went the way he wanted it to cause Tensei would always do the most intricate poses, but over time it made him the artist he is now. Tenya liked to draw in the art room after school and now was just used to you talking to him or just watching him draw. He had a few drawings of you including one that he drew earlier in the week of you as a video game character, but he'd drop dead if you ever found out that one of his favorite things to draw now was you.

"Senpai, are you okay?" Tenya jumped in his seat. How long have you been just standing there? "Yeah, why?" "Well, you've been looking at a blank paper for about 5 minutes now from when I came in and didn't even look up when I walked in the room." How long had Tenya been sitting in the same spot? "Oh, I'm sorry I must have spaced out. I have a project coming up, but I can't find the right thing to submit or to draw specifically for it." "What's the project requirements exactly?" "They're..." Tenya completely forgot the project requirements. "Uh, I don't remember I just know that it has to be something inspiring." "Well, Tensei is playing outside doesn't he inspire you?" "Well, yeah, but..." Tenya said as he looked out the window. He saw his brother hit another one of his home runs and sighed. "Senpai, what's wrong?" "Well, I feel like I'm not even half of what he is. He's popular and everyone praises him." "Well do you give out praise?" "Um, not really no." "He who does not give praise shall not receive praise," you said matter of factly to Tenya, taking him aback. "Here try to praise me and I'll praise you." You sat down on the couch in the art room while Tenya sat in his chair across from you and looked at you trying to figure out what to say. You smell nice? No Tenya, that's weird. She has very nice legs? Sexual harassment. Something physical, but not weird... oh. "You have really pretty eyes," Tenya said anxiously. "I do? I guess it's my turn, even though you stole mine, hmmm, oh, your very handsome." “Huh?!” Wait? Did she imply that I have pretty eyes too. “Y/N stop teasing be serious please,” Tenya said while his face was entirely red. “Senpai,” Y/N said as she held both of his cheeks in her hands and looked at him with a serious face. “I’m being very serious. You are one the most handsome, intelligent, and creative guys I know. Okay?” “O-okay.” 

You sat on the couch and you didn’t realize how much time had passed, but you knew Tenya would still be here until he finished his project. “I’m kinda tired Senpai. I’m gonna lay here okay. Wake me up when you’re ready to leave.” Tenya sat for a few more minutes before he finally attempted to look Y/N in the face. He was expecting her to be ready to tease him some more, but when he looked over she was peacefully sleeping. Tenya decided he was going to make his project of her. He started to draw her almost immediately. 

When he finished he felt that it was good, but once color was put into it it would be amazing. “Is that how you see me Senpai?” “Y/N!” “I think you deserve a reward for making such a good drawing and such a sweet portrait of me.” “A r-reward.” “Mhm, close your eyes.” Tenya reluctantly did what she said. “Okay now tell me how this feels.” Tenya felt something soft and sweet touch his lips. When he opened his eyes Y/N was there only millimeters away from his face and she was visibly red in the face. “M-my reward w-was a kiss.” Y/N moved back quickly, “I’ll see you later Senpai!” As soon as she finished she was already out the door leaving Tenya stunned. When he came back to his senses his first instinct was to go after you. “Y-Y/N wait!” He quickly grabbed his project and his stuff and made his way after you.

Nishinoya Yuu

Nishinoya would think your artwork is the coolest thing he has ever seen,,,,

He will beg you to draw on his bags or notebooks, he wants you to customize all his stuff because he wants to show you off

Nishinoya would watch you whenever you’re working on something, but then get bored after like five minutes and start going through his phone

He likes being in your presence so even if you work on something for hours, he will lay right beside you with his head in your lap while he naps or plays games 

Nishinoya would probably ask you to teach him how to draw stuff like a lion or something,,, you would have art lessons with him. His art is a work in progress...

Please, he is such a big show-off that if you give him something he will proudly go around presenting it to everyone…. Tsukishima is usually the person he always brags to 

‘Did (Y/N) make that for you senpai’ ‘They did! How did you know?!’ ‘Well, I know you certainly can’t draw that good’

Cue Nishinoya tackling his favorite first-year and trying to steal his glasses. Yes, Tsukki is his fave first-year 

If you ever want to go out to the park or the mountains or the beach to take pictures for inspiration or even do something cute like drawing the sunset, Nishinoya would tag along. Please, he would make it his own little adventure

Nishinoya has his own love for volleyball so he can really appreciate the love you have for art, he finds it super intriguing and it makes him fall in love with you even more~ 

“Right here!” Nishinoya points to the handle of his bag and you stare confusedly at him.

“You want me to paint on the strap?” You ask and Nishinoya eagerly nods, you squint at it while thumbing the fabric. “I’m not sure if it will work on this material.”

Nishinoya sighs dramatically and you flick his forehead.

“I can draw you something else though, here,” You lean up and kiss the area you had previously hit before digging right into your sketchbook. Your pencil flies across the paper and Nishinoya watches with interested eyes.

That lasts for about thirty seconds.

“Is it done yet?” You glance over your shoulder to see Nishinoya hanging off your bed, a bored expression on his face.

“Yuu, it’s been like two minutes.” You laugh and go back to the sketch you’re working on.

“Is that a yes?” He asks hopefully.

“Mmm, it’s a no.” Nishinoya sighs at your words, he drags himself off the bed and brings the blanket with him. You jolt slightly when you feel his body press up against yours and you glance behind you to see him curled up against you. 

The sun continues to fall from the sky and you diligently work on the paper in front of you. Nishinoya wakes up from his nap with a quiet yawn, the sleepiness still inside of his body. His arms wrap around your waist and he rests his head on your shoulder.

“Are you done yet?” You answer his question with a brief head shake. “Let’s go to sleep do it later,” He moans and you can already feel him falling asleep against you once again. “I want cuddles.”

Tendou Satori

Tendou is that kid in school who always begged you to draw him when he found out you could draw 

LOL like this mf will get on his knees ‘pls draw me’ and when you finally ask him what you want to draw he’d be like ‘me fighting a dragon’

Tendou would be very supportive of your art, he would love to sit there and just watch you paint or draw or make sculptures, whatever you do he loves to watch 

He will sit there in your room and lay on your floor and just stare, watch every brushstroke you make, you’ll have to physically push him away for space

I feel like when he sees you draw he, himself, will want to draw something as well 

Tendou will practice making little stick figures or draw portraits of you 

You have to hype him up and put it in your phone case or hang it on your wall because it is too cute

Tendou will make you work with Ushijima to create his manga, he will have the two of you draw the entire thing

He’d love everything you create and will always cherish it like he will definitely have a little place just for all of your artwork

Tendou loves encouraging you in everything that you do,,, your hobbies will somehow also become his 

“And then when it gets recognized we will become super famous!” Tendou tells you with excited eyes, his hands tightly gripping your shoulders. “We will get to work together in the future, angel! I get to spend even more time with you!” You laugh softly at his eagerness for the future as you continue to sketch in the tiny boxes.

“That’s the plan, huh?” You ask and Tendou nods, he swings one of his long legs to sit on the bench beside you, moving to practically sit on top of you.

“This is going to get sued for copyright.” Shirabu comments, his eyes narrow towards Tendou, as he reads through the manga ideas that Tendou created.

“I simply took inspiration from other shows, Naruto did it with Hunter Hunter!” Your boyfriend defends and Shirabu simply shakes his head, continuing to thumb through the papers.

“(L/N), I will take the next page,” Ushijima tells you, already reaching for another piece of paper to draw on.

“Woah, you’ve finished already Ushijima? Can I see it?” Ushijima nods and shows you his paper, your eyes widen when you look at his drawings. “This is really good, Ushijima! You’re good at everything!” You compliment and Tendou pouts when he notices your attention is no longer on him. 

“I, too, am good at everything.” Your boyfriend tells you, moving his arm around your shoulders to bring you closer to him. 

“If you’re so good then why didn’t you draw it yourself?” Shirabu asks, his eyebrows raised behind his bangs. 

“I can’t be the writer and illustrator, Kenjirou!” Tendou defends and you put your hand over his own. 

“We believe you Tendou, you’re the most amazing person ever!” Tendou practically melts at your compliment and hides his face in your shoulder.

Ushijima glances up at you, nods his head, then goes back to work.

Ushijima Wakatoshi 

Let me first say. Ushijima is also kinda artsy,,,, he is the perfect man,,,, we all saw how he drew for Tendou’s manga! It brought Goshiki to tears!!! 

He can appreciate all the works that you create because he knows how much effort is put into each piece 

Ushijima used to draw a lot when he was a kid and was really interested in it so seeing you do your thing will probably pique his interest again

He might start drawing again, aimlessly, whenever he is bored and it’s all for you~

Ushijima loves when you show him whatever you create, even if you think it is bad, he will always find the beauty in it

He’d probably sit there while you describe what you drew and why, how you did it, stuff like that because he loves to hear you talk 

Whenever you two hang out in your respective dorms, Ushijima probably reads magazines while you work on your latest project

He’d probably try to sneak peeks at what you are creating just because he is curious but he doesn’t want to disturb you when you’re in the zone 

If you ever draw something for him, Ushijima’s heart would bust the fattest nut, he would be so happy. He would praise you for like ten minutes and then hang it up in his room

Ushijima loves how passionate you are about something that you like and in turn, he wants to support you with it!!! He’d probably buy you supplies as little gifts, even when you don’t ask for it

“Let’s paint the sunset!” You beg Ushijima, your hands cupping his own as you pout up at him. “Please, it’ll be so much fun!” 

Ushijima glances down at you and then to the art supplies collected in his room from your daily visits, he really can’t say no, can he?

“Okay.” He responds and you squeal happily before placing a kiss on his cheek and grabbing all the things that you’ll need. 

“Here, hold this.” You thrust your bag of supplies into his arms before grabbing a blanket. “Let’s go up to the roof.”

Ushijima follows you quietly, listening to you as you ramble about how excited you are. His heart soars at the happiness you emit at this moment. 

“Wow.” Ushijima comments when you open the door, he knew sunsets were pretty but damn, this is something else. 

“This is going to be so much fun!” You grab his hand and drag him to the center, placing the blanket down before hopping on it. Already you’re grabbing for the orange and yellow paints. “Don’t you think?” 

Ushijima nods and sits down beside you, unconsciously making it a point to rest your legs in his lap, he always has to be touching you.

The sun continues to change colors and you keep up with it to the best of your ability, your canvas no longer the original color. Ushijima’s, however, is still blank. He’s been unable to take his eyes off of you the entire time. Instead of painting the sunset, he finds something better to paint. 

When the sun eventually goes down and the two of you are now under the moon, you hide your canvas away from him.  

“Let me see yours first before I show you mine!” You bargain and sit up, looking over his shoulder at what he painted. “That’s not the sunset.” Your lips part when you notice what he painted was you. Ushijima glances at you while trying to calm his racing heart.

“I know, I decided to paint something even prettier.”

ix. double mother's day

the scene in the kitchen is utterly adorable. 

the tall man standing at the counter covered in ingredients and utensils was no foreign sight, but the two stools on either side of him were, just like his two little mini-me’s standing on top of them.

“ya see this part between yer finger ‘n yer thumb? after you scoop a little bit of the filling into the rice, roll it into a ball like this and then squeeze very gently into this part of yer hand to shape it.” the man explains to his sons as they try to imitate his practiced movements with clumsy hands.

the two boys pout at their messy products when their eyes fall on their dad’s perfect onigiri, one more vocal about their disappointment than the other.

“papa! s’not pretty like yours!” takumi cries while his brother nodded in agreement, big round eyes shining with unshed tears.

“wan’ mine pretty like mama,” warbles ryo, bottom lip wobbling as he holds in the sobs threatening to rack his tiny body.

osamu is quick to wipe his hands off on the kitchen towel slung over his shoulder and settle his warm palms on their backs. “hey, hey, shhh, s’okay.” squatting down to their level, he presses a chaste kiss to each of their cheeks, still plump with baby fat. “there’s plenty more for ya to practice, but i think these’re pretty ‘cause you made them. i bet your mama’s gonna love ‘em more than mine anyhow.”

sighing internally, the father is relieved to see two pairs of eyes blinking up at him, shining with hope and excitement instead of tears and disappointment. 

“promise, papa?” the younger twin pipes up, echoed soon after by a softer, watery “promise?”

large frame still crouched down beside them, osamu presents his two little fingers for his two little chefs, “pinky promise.”

after attempting to wrap their much smaller fingers around their father’s, the younger miyas settle for taking their respective fingers into a firm handshake while osamu tries his damnedest to not laugh at how cute his sons are with their brows furrowed solemnly.

“okay, okay, let’s finish the onigiri and then work on mama’s cakes, yea?”

“yea! gon’ make pretty onigiwi for mama!” 

“wanna mix, please, papa?” 

“sure, ryo. you can mix the cake batter.”

“me too! me too! wanna mix!”

a gentle smile tugs at the corner of osamu’s lips, knowing that he’d have to finish the rice balls on his own once he got his boys set up and situated. 

“good thing i have two whisks then,” he says to himself, bustling about, opening and shutting cabinets, and gathering the ingredients to make two mini sponge cakes. 

as ryo and takumi watch their father measure and scoop out of various containers and cartons, they bounce on the balls of their feet, eager to receive the cups he hands to them and dump them into the identical bowls on the counter in front of them.

by the time the cakes were cooled, decorated and left in the fridge, a few more onigiri were sitting in the container next to the two, smaller, messier ones, and two little miyas were snoozing away on their snoring papa’s broad chest as they wait for you to come home.

“okay, kiddos,” atsumu chimes as he plops a storage container full of art supplies on the living room floor. “what’re ya gonna make for mommy?”

“wanna give mommy flower!” his princess cheers. “fitting,” he thinks with a smile. “should be easy enough.”

“no flower! dinosaur for mommy! rawr!” accompanied by the pitter-patter of tiny feet on the hardwood, the input signals ryuki’s disinterest in the stuffed animals he was playing with, eager to make a gift for his mother. 

however, this makes hana pout and stomp her feet, albeit adorably. “dinosaur not pretty! flower pretty like mommy!”

quick to deescalate the situation, atsumu pulls out a few sheets of paper and two sets of crayons. “princess, ya can make mommy the prettiest flower she’s ever seen, but if yer brother wants to make a dinosaur, that’s okay, too! mommy likes flowers and dinosaurs, mkay?” getting a couple of head nods and quiet “okay, daddy”s, he gives them a bright smile and the supplies he drew from the storage container. “now how about you both draw what you wanna make so i can help you once you’re done, yea?” 

excited that they both get to make what they want, the two tots get to work, diligently turning colorful scribbles into the likenesses of… a rose? and a t-rex? atsumu is impressed by his kids’ artistic abilities as he grabs a pair of scissors, sheets of felt, cardboard, and bottles of glue from the box beside him. “definitely didn’t get those genes from me.”

“daddy, daddy! m’done!” hana exclaims triumphantly, holding up her drawing proudly. “see flower?” 

“i do see, princess. it’s very pretty,” the father nods solemnly. “ya want the same color for the petals?” her head bobs vigorously, making atsumu chuckle as he singles out a sheet of white felt. “‘kay, m’gonna cut ‘em out for ya to glue ‘em on. can ya squeeze the glue on the cardboard for me first?” 

as hana sets out to do just that, ryuki pops up with his creation in hand, “done now, daddy!” 

“good job, my handsome boy! such a cool dinosaur,” atsumu gently ruffles his son’s hair, large hand dwarfing his small head. “do what your sister’s doing and i’ll cut out your pieces, too.” 

a couple moments pass in silence as the three miyas accomplish their individual tasks. once the glue is drizzled over the cardboard, atsumu lets his kids pick out a sheet of felt in whatever color their little hearts desired. with pink felt laid upon hana’s board and blue on ryuki’s, the father then instructs them to put dabs of glue where each piece of felt would go. 

“here ya go, this one goes right here like this,” he says, guiding their hands to orient the felt scraps in their respective places. “and then ya put a little glue here an’ then this piece goes there.” soon enough, despite the scraps of felt littering the floor and sticky hands getting glue everywhere, twin gazes gleam proudly as they take in their finished products. 

“let’s go wash our hands,” atsumu tells them, unfolding himself from where he sat between his children and stretching his arms high above his head. “and then it’s snack time. how’s that sound?”

“yay! snacks!” the smaller miyas hoot, little legs carrying them to the bathroom as fast as they could. tsumu cleans up the mess left behind and hides their crafts on the top shelf of the hallway closet to dry before sauntering into the kitchen with a firm resolve to recreate the onigiri his brother taught him without burning the rice or forgetting to season anything this time.

BNHA Chapter 313 Short Thoughts & Berserk

So, for anyone following me for my My Hero Academia analysis stuff, unfortunately, I don't think I’ll get one out this week.  The chapter was amazing, don’t get me wrong, but I just didn’t have time to really write anything big about it.  Blame the BNHA: The Strongest Hero mobile game that released this week.  Gatcha games really suck me in.  Bakugo was my first random pull amazingly, but I haven’t gotten my fave Shoto yet.  I want my man to come home 😭.  Anyway, I will point out a few things from this chapter:

Thank god All Might is alive!  I didn’t expect him to die, but I’m still afraid of that possibility someday.  That one panel of him declaring himself to those thugs was amazing and I can see why it gave people Stain vibes.  Where is that guy anyway?  Also, I want All Might to sign Izuku’s adoption papers already.  He really is Izuku’s father at this point.  

All Might warned the Top 3 (Endeavor, Best Jeanist, and Hawks) about Lady Nagant, so I expect them to pop up sometime soon.  Especially Hawks.  That’ll be an interesting reunion with his Senpai.

Lady Nagant is still beautiful and badass and I love this Queen 👑

Deku got shot in the stomach (or side?) and he’s fucking pissed!  This kid’s nuts for being so reckless right now, but it looks like he’ll do anything to get info on AFO and Shigaraki.  This arc is really doing things to Deku.  I got a bad feeling that his recklessness will bit him in the ass real soon.

I think En (the 6th Holder) is rising up the ranks of being one of my favorite OFA predecessors.  I like his design, his personality, and how he mentors Deku.  The faces he made this week are amazing!  This man is just done with Deku’s shit he wants to go back to Shoyo Hinata and play volleyball again 😂  Also, he said “Hey, Hey, Hey!” in the fan translations and I can’t unhear Bokuto from Haikyuu!! whenever someone says that DAMN YOU OWL🦉

Lady Nagant’s Quirk can make her a sniper scope out of what looks like muscle or tissue because of course it freaking can.

Finally, I’m still confused on what the 3rd Holder’s Quirk is:  Fa Jin.  I think everyone is.  Apparently research says that it’s a form of Chinese martial arts that unleashes kinetic energy.  That’s why Deku was doing all those squats with his legs before he jumped to grab Lady Nagant.  I’m thinking it’s like how Black Panther’s costume stored kinetic energy and unleashed it whenever he did a punch to the ground.  Or something like that.  Horikoshi really needs to explain this one next week.

So yeah, awesome chapter this week with some action, badass All Might, and big reckless brain energy from Deku.  

And finally (and this will be a long spiel), I really need to address the sudden death of Berserk’s mangaka, Kentaro Miura (age 54), that was announced to the public recently.  He died back in May 6th due to an Acute Aortic Dissection.  I’ll admit to never reading Berserk or watching the anime adaption.  I know about it, but I never got around to actually getting myself into the series.  I heard amazing things about it, but I also heard that is has every content warning under the sun (abuse, sexual assault, rape, torture, murder, etc.).  It’s like if manga had a rating, Berserk would be rated-R full stop.  Still, I would like to get around to reading it one day.  Even so, I have seen some panels from the manga and it is literally God-Tier art.  It’s so rare to see an artist put in so much work into their pieces.  Every little detail is drawn masterfully.  If you looked at his panels far away, you’d swear that it was a photo.  If you looked up closely, you could see every single line Miura drew.  Honestly, his work deserves its own museum.  His story and work were so influential to the pop culture we know.  There would be no Souls series without Berserk.  There wouldn’t be Cloud Strife.  Any buff character with a gigantic-ass sword was inspired by Berserk in some way shape or form.  Other mangaka both loved and were inspired by Berserk like our own Kohei Horikoshi.  Miura-san was a true legend in his own right and he will be deeply missed.

I’m no doctor and I’m honestly not sure what really caused Miura-san’s untimely death, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the stress of mangakas’ absolutely brutal schedule was one of the causes.  In case you don’t know, mangakas pretty much literally put their lives into their works.  Their schedule is roughly like the one seen below.  Sleep and free-time are basically non-existent for them. The same goes for a lot of animators out there with Studio Mappa (despite their amazing animation) being one of the biggest causes of factory-like work in the industry lately.  I wish Miura’s death didn’t bring get this topic trending, but I do hope that both the manga and anime industry finally see what this work does to their artist and gives them a much more breathable schedule.  Shonen Jump+, Jump’s exclusive online manga is actually doing fairly well with their mangaka in terms of schedule.  Series like Spy X Family and Kaiju No. 8 have their mangakas release their chapters every 1-2 weeks.  They even let their mangaka take breaks if they need to with beautiful pieces of artwork as consolation.  God knows I had to wait a full month for a Spy X Family chapter to come out.  Regardless, I truly do hope this is a wake-up-call for the manga and anime industries.  I hope things get better for all the mangaka and animators.  They deserve all the praise, rest, and ease they can get.  Respect and love your mangaka and animators, my friends.  RIP, Kentaro Miura.

...heh, what else is there to say? I created Final Skies so many years ago, and thanks to aaaall of you, it truly became a dream come true for me. Now, I can never, ever give myself a compliment, pat myself on the back, or toot my own horn. It’s just not in my nature. But even I can’t deny: I did it, you guys. I made my dream come true. 

I made comics, so many comics, like my old webcomic heroes. I helped make a bonafide animated music video. I made up my own original characters, and people liked them. I signed autographs. I’ve met every senpai I had. I cheered up so many people. I’ve inspired stories, songs, and fan art. I added light to this bleak world in my own very small, tiny way. The only thing I think I still wanted to do, was create something truly beautiful. Something... breathtaking. And I don’t think I ever drew something like that. No, not as much.

But! I think I helped create something truly beautiful: the community we all built together. I have witness acts of kindness some people would think could only happen in a movie. But it’s real. We’re real. There is goodness in this world, and I think we’ve all helped people realize it’s not so unbelievable after all. All of us: The Pony Staff and Crew, the fan artists, the musicians, singers, sculptors, PMV-makers, writers, proof-readers, voice talents, plushie-makers, web designers, video game developers, moderators, Con organizers, commenters, rebloggers, like-ers, and so many more. We made the magic of friendship real. Yanked it right out of a children’s cartoon show and made it ours. We did it, you guys. We did it.

And now... the only thing I have left to do is say goodbye. 

For now, anyway. I’ve been needing a break for a long time now, and, with all these crazy leaks, ha, I think it might be a sign from the Universe: get off the Internet! But I’ll be back. I got this question on deviantart, and I felt like reposting my answer here, in case anyone is interested :P 

THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG REPLY BUT BEAR WITH ME LOL When I first started drawing/am I self taught : I've been drawing since kindergarten. Anime specifically, since I was about 8 years old. so that's been uh...18 years since I've started drawing in the anime-esque style? I am self taught on these areas. I picked up a digital artist tablet at the age of 13 or so, (it was a wacom Graphire 4 4x5 in) so it's been 13 years of digital art practice i've gotten in. I have picked up several how to draw books over the years until i surpassed some of them. But even now i'm constantly referencing tutorials and poses, looking for ideas and color palettes, etc. I have taken some schooling in college for art. I took beginner's drawing and color theory and maybe a little of art history but that's about it before i quit lmao What inspired me to draw in the first place/what I first drew: The thing that inspired me to draw in the first place was my favorite cartoons. from a very young age i knew that cartoons weren't real, but it fascinated me that actual people could create almost living people. I related to cartoons, and even though they were fake characters, I just loved the idea of creating a whole world of my own. So I took up drawing in kindergarten. First things I drew were flowers, rainbows, trees, etc. But My first biggest undertaking was powerpuffgirls. lol This was the series that started it all. Began drawing tons of powerpuffgirls stories and oc's. For the next few years I would watch different things like all the standard cartoon network shows. But I watched yugioh and dbz and other anime things too. What also got me into anime art style was the online game neopets lol Their faeries designs ( http://images.neopets.com/games/pages/icons/screenshots/586/4.jpg ) kind of had an anime resemblance, so I started drawing those for a while. When I was 8 or 9 years old my father bought me my first how to draw manga book (this one in particular: https://www.amazon.com/Art-Drawing-Manga-Ben-Krefta/dp/1841931713  ) looking back on it, this book is terrible and the anime in it is so ugly looking lol. However, i used that thing religiously and began making my own characters like a blue elf girl and a human friend of hers. ( in fact, here's the post. i tried redrawing them recently lol: https://shock777.tumblr.com/post/145898896143/finding-old-art-is-the-best-cause-you-can-redraw ) ...Then the real transformation began once I started watching Teen Titans when it aired in 2003. I was 10 at the time. That show started my love for japan. The language interested me and I began researching Japanese songs and trying to sing along to them. I didn't know what the words meant, but the artistic style and meshing of western cartoons and anime of the show really piqued my interest. My earliest drawings of them suckedddd XD; As Teen Titans drew to a close near 2006-2007 ish, I picked up Naruto and then it was all over since then lol my anime style and weeb days really came into full force lol I thank naruto though. I learned how to draw more realistic anatomy as opposed to cartoony anatomy. It was a very wild ride, but it's all documented here on my deviantart page as I got this exact account around the same time! I started posting my work in 2008, so you can go back far enough into my gallery and see the progress XD; I keep the old cringe up because it just motivates me and hopefully others, to keep drawing and keep going farther! :) PHEW lol long history there XD I do have some of my old art!!! And I think this is most important, JUST KEEP GOING. It's soooo tempting to quit drawing when things aren't going right and when you're not happy with how your art looks. Trust me, every artist I've ever known including myself have gone through this. It's so easy to compare your work to someone else's. The thing is, we're all in this together. No one expects a newborn to be able to file taxes or drive a car lol. We all have to evolve and change, and that change comes from consistent work. Art isn't an inherent talent, it is hard work that is honed over several years of blood, sweat and tears lmao JUST KEEP GOING. as I've mentioned, my old cringe art is still on my dA page. Back then when I was younger I was less concerned with things being perfect and I spam posted almost every doodle. And I began a "fanbase" i guess because of those days and my consistent posting. I've had this freaking deviantart page for 11 freakin years. If I had stopped drawing whenever I felt my art was imperfect or not good enough, I would have stopped posting around 2009. so...just keep going. And I'd even dare you to post your "shitty doodles" that you think aren't that great. Because you never know what someone else will see in it that you don't. Be confident, and never give up! 2. Soak up any tutorial and really focus on studying your favorite artist's styles. If there's something you want to replicate in your art that someone else is drawing, try to see how they do it. sometimes artists have tutorials posted and sometimes they don't. I have a few posted on my youtube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRB9xQBsGpfetNJbmXWZ1fL9d5IlqQs1w ) and some in my gallery. Don't exactly copy some things stroke for stroke, but try to add your little spin to something. Like sometimes I will see art senpai drawing a specific eye style I wanna replicate, but I don't like one part of the process. So sometimes I'll just add my own little addition, or just omit that process completely. Usually though, if the art style isn't necessarily super unique, you can copy a lot of mainstream styles without anyone really griping saying "oh you're just copying so and so's art style". It's important to look up to art senpais i think. They make me want to try harder lol 3. Take an art class if you're able. Color theory really helped me grasp things that I never had before. LIKE REFLECTIVE LIGHT FOR INSTANCE. I never drew that shit but now I do because DUH it's so freaking obvious lol It also helps to learn what colors neutralize others, complementary colors, analogous ones, etc. It's nice to have an eye for what matches together and to know the principles of art. I still have a lot of work to do when it comes to perspective, which we did cover a little in class lol but work on your own pace. If your college near you offers a class for beginners, take it if you're able. it will help you view things differently. 4. Copy realistically. Like, I'm talking look at a freaking object in your room and try to draw it. Once you can draw it semi realistically, you can then add your own little stylistic choices to it. Like so many artists who draw chibis or cartoony things, they more than likely know the proper proportions of people and anatomy. But they draw the proportions all whacky and it creates their own style. However it does help to know how they work in reality lol 5. TRACE OVER POSES. Sometimes I do this. I'm not saying to trace someone's art, but if you see some kind of pose on say a google image, or a stock photo, try sketching over it to get a feel for where the joints connect if you're working on anatomy. It reaaaallly helps you memorize where the arm would end, or where the torso connects to the hips. 6. Take advice and criticism well. If someone sees something you don't about your art, they may be on to something. It's not wrong if someone gives you a heads up that a proportion seems lacking or something seems too big or out of place. It will actually help you to see what others see. Sometimes we get in the habit of drawing something a certain way and it's hard to break that habit especially if you've drawn the same thing several hundred times. It will help you in the long run to just accept that you're always going to be improving. You'll never be perfect at drawing, so what do you have to lose? Just keep walking forward and learn what you can. 7. Flip the canvas. This is more or less a digital art tip, but please flip the canvas to make sure the proportions are not off. lol A lot of professionals have to flip the canvas until they get a feel for where things are placed. Another good tip is to use a stabilizer of some kind to draw straight lines. Paint tool sai has one at the very top of the window. It helps tremendously. 8. Draw what you like and don't feel bad for not drawing everything everyone else likes. Don't sacrifice your morals or your personal desires for something everyone else likes. If you're paid to draw something you don't like, thats another thing. but don't let people pressure you to draw stuff that you don't want to. You'll be much happier, and build an audience that is much like-minded to you. Be considerate of what your audience likes, sure, but remember at the end of the day, art is something to express one's self. Art is not and should not be a job. Even if you get paid money to draw or design things, it's important to take a break and draw something for yourself every once in a while. Be self indulgent, and treat yo self from time to time :) And uhhh...that's all I can think of for the time being. :') let me know if you have any further questions or if I need to clarify anything :) Thanks again!

I kinda was saving this for when i had the time to type everything out in one go, so let’s just get this over with before Smash drags me back into the depths of hell. XD

So, like, things happened back in 2017. a lot of things. graduated highschool, felt the winds of freedom as i stepped into the world of adulting and.....fell into a deep abyss of crippling depression as my life took a rather....wild turn to say the least. these feelings would linger and continue to haunt me throughout the majority of 2018. if you’d like to hear them or just need a refresher, my 2017 summary WITH that in depth description is on my DA that i no longer use cuz all i can think of when i go there is that year as a whole.

That’s not to say the year was cruddy, though. it really looked up by the end and it’s been one of the better years of my life as an artist. i’m about to go into that, so sit tight if you wanna actually read everything.

January: Arcus ~Collab with KLou

Things got heated at grandma’s after the holidays and we left in a huff cuz yeah, big fight the night before. it wasn’t something i ever wanna remember, but i gotta acknowledge it happened. thus began the struggles of living life as a nomad basically. From this point on until May, i won’t say much about our situation cuz honestly, time grinded to a halt after hotel life began.

February: Let’s Save the World

Believe it or not, this was a mobile drawing. i still didn’t have my tablet or my computer, so i tried using my phone for awhile. this was, of course, after i got Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory for PS4, so this right here was my Dracomon babu Takumi, named after the former wearer of the goggles i equipped to him.

March: Let’s Kick It!

A brief moment of light as i fINALLY GOT MY TABLET BACK ONLINE! i felt like things were going to be different, we’d finally get somewhere and i felt like i could do anything again! this drawing, while super simple since it was just me around most of my current OCs at the time, was meant to represent me being back in business after around 4 or 5 months of being restricted to traditional work, a medium i, at the time, didn’t have much development in. (although, those months sure did help me learn how to draw that way in more than just sketching. so i’m actually kinda grateful i was stripped of the tools that i realize i may or may not have taken for granted.)

April: Spyro the Dragon

The Reignited Trilogy was announced and that’s why i drew that cuz literally everyone was doing Spyro fanart. i remember also doing a bunch of little doodles of other people’s characters in this same coloring style since some of the drawings i did before like the mobile drawing and my traditional work gave me inspiration on how to go about doing this new watercolor/marker like style that i started to experiment with throughout 2016 and ‘17.

May: Memories in Pieces

Remember how i said time grinded to a halt after hotel life began? yeah, this is where it reeeeaaally started to effect me. the days dragged on and blended together, we STILL could secure a home to house all of us and it just felt like my life was just....over. like, all the important stuff happened and now my story’s just done. it didn’t help that memories from the year before decided to come back and hang over me like an undying demon cloud. my anxiety and depression couldn’t have been higher. and yet i still managed to wake up. in fact, i woke up bright and early every day somehow. it felt like there wasn’t anything to believe in and yet....i still had hope that we could get through this. i knew deep down we weren’t gonna be completely out of luck.....but i still hurt at the same time.

I never uploaded this drawing anywhere, but this was, to put it simply, partly a new direction for a future project but also a vent art of sorts, representing the negative thoughts and regrets that never seemed to leave me alone no matter how much time has passed.

June: Digimon Atlas Adventures Ultima Vocal Collection

My second commission ever made since i opened that month. it was also the first time i really cel shaded along with made a logo since the year before. this day marked the turning point along with the end of my depression for the most part as the parents finally gave up and took...some of us down to Florida. a couple of siblings had jobs to keep up with, so they had to stay back in NY with.....eghh....grandma. to this day, i’m still hearing stories even if some of them eventually found their own place. i swear, the more i hear about what’s going on, the less i wanna go back to NY. >_>’

July: Drake ~Art Fight 2018

Oh yeah, we moved down to FL, but we were still in hotels IN FL, so there was change, but still pretty similar circumstances. we quickly found a place at some point, though. a cozy apartment complex that i’m happy to live in.

This is when Art Fight began....or rather when it was supposed to begin cuz they had technical difficulties for the first week or so. the day i revamped Drake for it was like i was saying hi to an old friend after parting ways years prior. it was a really fun experience that i’d gladly partake in again next year if i’ve got the time.

August: Gathers Under Night...

A very ambitious looking piece i did as an attack against a friend during Art Fight. it was my favorite attack i ever did and could quite easily be my favorite drawing from this year. after leaving hotel life behind me, i rarely, if ever, had war flashbacks or anxiety over the past. i felt like my life was finally getting somewhere again. for real this time. and that it did, thankfully.

September: Lost in Thought

A gift i made for a longtime friend and art senpai to try and cheer them up. i still look back at this and think “yeah....this is the style i’ve been longing to emulate. and i’ve finally achieved it.” granted, it took a lot from Kingdom Hearts II’s title screen, but where do you think i got my love of watercolor from?

At this point, i started to become a new person. i mean i already was considering the summer also involved me trying to become a little less total weeb at least in terms of music taste and also leaving my hoodie lifestyle for a good few months, but yeah. in fact, i think this was the month i buzzed off all my emo hair and really ended up resembling how i looked like back when i was little, anime cowlick and all.

October: The Lethal Protector

Oh yeah, Venom happened. i should’ve disliked that movie with all it’s flaws and unused potential, but instead i wholeheartedly stan it and i luv the portrayal of Eddie and Venom to the point where i forgive where it went wrong.

Yeah, i completely moved on from everything that tied me down at this point. i yeeted the past into the stratosphere and focused solely on what i wanted to do now. what my next move was. and i can thank these two losers for helping me stay focused on my craft. i also kept branching outside of Digimon. i wanted to be more than what i used to be.

November: My Favorite Ninja Frog

Didn’t do much this month, so all i had was a doodle of my starter partner for Pokemon Y. i never evolved him past Frogadier cuz i preferred him over Greninja. it was the tongue scarf, dude.

Why? ehh, it was most likely Warframe. i got into that game at some point cuz a friend persuaded me to do it. i don’t regret anything. i luv this game when i’m playing with friends.

December: Draw Your Roster Ultimate: The Winds of Reunion + Holiday Arcus

The Winds of Reunion cuz Wind Waker and the fact that everyone including Wolf, Young Link and even Pichu returned to Smash Bros. when Ultimate happened. this game cured my depression, cleared my skin and reignited my love for Starfox oddly enough since Starfox Zero AKA 64 with a new coat of paint and motion controls that weren’t as bad as you think didn’t exactly do it for me. i haven’t been so content with the way things are in a long time and i’m happy i finally got my hands on this treasure of a game. now, to wait for Kingdom Hearts III. ;w;

And now we finally get to the end of this long as heck recap. thank god Tumblr gives you unlimited characters, amirite? XD

Overall, this was a year of recovery and rebirth. it was a long and rough winding road, but in the end i think i’ve healed enough to finally get on with my life.

I’m not the same kid i used to be when i graduated highschool, and i’m definitely not the same kid i was when i was first starting out as an artist. my journey has been full of ups, downs and all arounds and it was all a much needed learning experience. even if i felt like i was suffering at times.

My future is mine to decide, and i’m not letting anything stand in my way again.

For the future i want to believe in.

First of all, I’m sorry that I took longer to this than expected, at least for a personal ask. I didn’t mean to make you wait. (｡•́︿•̀｡)

Okay, let’s check your question!!

Hm! 

First off, I want to tell you that I’m not an artist. So the advice I’m giving you is the best I can think about, but thinking about what I write/post, and what I’ve heard other artists say, but it’s not entirely from experience. So know that if none of what I tell you works, it’s not on you, I may have missed an important advice that didn’t cross my head!

If you’d like, you could ask someone from the drawing/painting world. Yuu-senpai, Hana-senpai, even Solaris-senpai, or many others are very friendly and open and they could give you advice from experience if what I tell you doesn’t convince you. c:

1. The first 5 tags

The first 5 tags under your artwork are the most vital and important, because they’re the ones that actually show up in the Tumblr search section!

You want to use the first five tags under your artwork as the best. Final Fantasy XV and FFXV would be the first two I used, and then something more specific (if your artwork is an Ignis one, then next comes the Ignis and/or Ignis Scientia tag, etc.).

If you want to/like to talk in the tags (like yours truly!), use the last tags or, at least, start from the 6th tag and ahead. The rest of the tags won’t show up in the search section when peopel browse the tag; the rest of the tag space are there for personal use (so you browse the tags in YOUR blog, not in the Tumblr site). 

WARNING: I HIGHLY advice you to NOT use the first 5 tags to fish for attention! If your artwork is a Gladio solo artwork, you have NO REASON to use the Ignis tag or a Noctis tag or even something like a Lunafreya tag!! DO. NOT. USE. UNRELATED TAGS. 

It may work to catch the attention, sure. Someone that follows the Ignis tag may see your Gladio artwork because you used the tag. You’ll catch their attention, but it will be NEGATIVE ATTENTION.

This IS from experience. You do make your artwork reach more people, but all you get is for people to go “Ugh” and scroll past your stuff because you’re spamming artworks unrelated to the tag in the tag. So do NOT!

2. Reblogs

Reblogs are possibly the most vital, most important part to be noticed.

While tagging is GREAT and the first step to make your art go somewhere, I’d dare say the majority of people don’t necessarily follow a tag. I don’t; all that I reblog, all were reblogged from another blog. I only follow the Corqi tag because of how scarce material there is for it, so I don’t want to miss anything. But, for example, I don’t follow any Ignis or FFXV tag (mostly because I want to keep my dash as short as possible lmao, but also) because I follow enough blogs that reblog enough artworks, so why follow a tag if the rest of the people are doing it for me?

Reblogging is a very, very vital part to get noticed because your art is reaching those blogs that don’t follow the tags.

This is, however, not on you. You need another blog to reblog your artwork; one reblog opens many chances so someone else reblogs, and so on and on. The more reblogs, the more chances for more reblogs, and hence, the more people will see it. 

You know what I just thought and I have no idea why it never occurred to me before?

Let’s say you have your art blog. Do you have another one where you reblog stuff? Do you already have followers? Reblog your own artwork; post in your art blog, reblog in the fandom one. That way, you’re your first reblog, and because your reblog/fandom blog will probably have more followers than the art one (at least in a beginning), it has more chances of reaching more people. 

So it’s very important that someone else reblogs your work. This is not on you, as I said, but rather in people giving you a hand at it. Except we don’t always reblog everything we see. 

So why not try to get a friend that starts doing it? 

You’re on anon for a reason, but if you want, you can tag me in your art, or tag me in it pretending to be someone else who happened to see the artwork and thought about me, so I won’t know it’s you (and don’t worry, I won’t get suspicious; I have no way to know it’s you, and I often get tagged in other artworks by people even if we don’t talk often, so I won’t look at the tag and say “Ah! It’s that anon from the other day!” I’ll just think it’s cool someone tagged me in something. Your identity is safe with  me, whether you keep it anon or not

To be honest I don’t reblog EVERYTHING that I see, but there’s big chances I will do it. I really like all the art in this fandom, it’s crazy how skilled you people are! But yeah, showing me can lead to me reblogging it, and there you could find that beginning of the reblogging chain.

Or if you’re too shy to show me, show someone else!!

Any of your friends, or someone you feel confident with, or comfortable with. The point is getting one first reblog that can lead to a few more, and the artwork will start eventually travelling across the FFXV fandom.

Speaking of reblogs, don’t be afraid of reblogging your own work in your own blog itself!

A lot, a lot, a lot of artists do it. A lot of writers too; I do it often!!

What I mean is, think about the world. It’s not the same hour everywhere. I can post something during my evening because everyone is online on evenings, right? So it wil reach everyone.

Nope. To some, it’s night; to some, it’s bedtime; to some, it’s morning. It won’t reach everyone simply because of timezones.

So what I do is, I post something, and then I queue a reblog of the same post but it’s my “12 hour reblog”. If I posted at 6 pm, I’ll queue it for 6 am. I like to do the 12 hr one because I think it’s more chances of reaching many people, with the not-so-literal thought of “if it’s day time here, it’s posting on nighttime in the other side of the world, so in 12 hours it will be this hour tomorrow for them”. I hope it makes sense.

And sometimes I even make a 3rd reblog. Sometimes I do feel shy about it because I fear to be annoying, but 99% of the times it works and it reaches people it hadn’t reached before. 

It’s a way of sending your own work back to the top of the dashboard, and sometimes a way to give a 2nd chance for people to see it; sometimes we scroll past something without noticing, so a reblog will give us a 2nd chance to see it.

3. Posting silly stuff sometimes

It’s not a secret that sometimes a silly stickman comic you drew in 5 minutes gets more attention than the profound artwork you worked in for 10 hours. It can be annoying, disappointing, even discouraging at times. But it is, nonetheless, a good way to get attention. 

I’m not saying you force yourself to think about jokes; most times forced jokes don’t work. But if you ever get a silly idea, don’t be afraid to draw it!

People won’t think about the art and judge it. They’re just looking at the joke. And if they find it funny, they may check your blog for more, and maybe you won’t have more silly comics, but maybe, from 10 people that look in your blog for more comics, 3 will think your other work is AMAZING and will fave and maybe even reblog some of that too. It can even get you a couple new followers.

Again, this is not NECESSARY. I follow artists that have never once in their lives (of this fandom) posted any joke or silly thing, and I still follow and ADORE their work to bits. The only thing I needed was to find them once. 

4. Asks and requests

If you’re up for it and have no troubles, you could also be open for quick requests in your ask box.

Have you seen some of those memes/charts, with many facial expressions/prompts, and people request something? “Could you please draw (X character) in A3, please? Thank you!” That sort of prompts. That can be very useful!

People really like free art. Some of us don’t have money for big commissions, so sometimes, when an artist can make a 15 minutes sketch or doodle of something we like, that’s amazing, and it can lead to earning followers and/or reblogs here and there. 

NOTE: Remember, however, that you’re not WORKING FOR US. You’re not getting paid. Do it for fun, when you can, and don’t stress or overwork or take 100+ requests and try to answer them all in 2 days. It’s only for fun. Alrighty? 

But yeah; sometimes, requests can lead some people to your ask, and hence tto your blog. And it’s fun! A lot of people in this fandom have some damn amazing creativity for prompts (and boy, do I know this!!)

5. Collabs /Drawing for a fic

This works better for writers; people look at artworks way, way, way more than they read fanfics, simply because it’s less time consuming and immediate. 

However, collabs can be an amazing way to get both artist and writer to be known.

There are some that follow the artist; some that follow the writer. So when a writer posts a fic linked to an artwork, people will find out about the artist’s blog that way. And when an artists posts an artwork with a fic linked, people will find the writing blog. It’s a good way that gives and receives equally. 

There are people that are REALLY passionate about a fanfic, so you can be sure as heck that they will check out any artwork about it. That they like it or not, that’s on them, but they will at least check it out. 

So you can also draw for a fic you like, no collab needed.

This works just fine, maybe even better. With this, you not only get to be known, but you also make a writer HYPED AND ECSTATIC. There ain’t a feeling in the world like getting art drawn for your fic. So you can be sure that 99% of chances are the writer will reblog even if it’s not a collab (unless the writer is some FREAK, I can’t imagine why someone wouldn’t reblog an art of their fic???). And so, the people that follow the writer will see it too. 

This can work very well because it’s a way to get at least one reblog for sure, which is a beginning. :)

6. Join fandom weeks/weekends

This is a good way to have fun and get yourself to get known.

That is because this is a way so you will for SURE have at least one reblog. And what’s best is that that reblog won’t be from a blog who has 1 follower, it will be reblogged by a fandom blog who has dozens of followers.

If someone is a lot into Gladnis, chances are they will follow the Gladnisweek blog. Maybe they won’t participate, but they follow it to see the entries of other people, and they have it for sure that the content will be exactly what they’re looking for. 

There is no way your artwork goes unseen in a fandom week! 

7. Be true to yourself; have fun

I know, I know. The most cliché of the clichéd advices. But it’s very important that you remember that.

Don’t draw for the attention; draw for yourself.

This IS another one from personal experience. I honestly never thought I’d write for this fandom, even less have this many followers or this many requests! And you know how I got here? Because I only had fun, shared my ideas, shared my passion for the game with others, I was honest and literally, literally only had fun.

Indeed, what pushed me to fame was literally just joking around. It was the Gladio’s pick up lines series. Which I did not because I wanted followers, I just wanted to make people laugh, and I wanted to share my jokes. 

All that I did was have a lot of fun and do what I wanted, not what I thought other people wanted, and eventually ended up here.

Drawing for attention is like drawing for money; it’s empty art.

You don’t dance, sing, paint, or write thinking about how much money and fame you’ll make. You dance, sing, paint, or write thinking about what your story will say, what you want to transmit, how you want it to look. You’re thinking about creating and sharing, not about the fame.

It’s as I said about making silly things or comics sometimes; it’s only if you want to and if you’re having fun, you don’t have (and must NOT) force it!! (Think about a gas; if you force a gas out, it’ll come out as poop. It must come out naturally. Same with everything else, art included!)

So stay true to yourself. Draw what you want to draw, as you want to draw it. True, you’re not drawing just for yourself; if that was the case, you wouldn’t post it online. You’re posting it because you want to share with others. But do so like that; draw for you and share with others, don’t draw what you THINK the others want or what you THINK the others will like. Draw what you want and what you like, and show us; you’ll find someone that likes it too.

Don’t stress about what people will like or not. Think about what YOU like, and that’s it. 

I understand the concern about getting your art to be known, but that comes later. 

And that’s all that I can think of right now! Gee, I sure hope I’m not forgetting/not thinking about something more or else. But I’m sure maybe some raccoobo can have advice too, so, while I can’t tell you for sure it will happen, maybe someone will drop a comment under this, so make sure to check the notes if you see any. My raccoobos are smarter and have more experience than me, so they may know something else! ヽ(・ω・)ﾉ

Of just draw the boys in lingerie, for some reason most fandom seem to like that? Lol. I honestly rarely like that and prefer them in fancy, but maybe I’m just old fashioned or a NERD. But really, draw what you like, this sentence was a joke c:

Design Choices

Since people were asking, I’ll just add it on here. Keeps the posts clean and less annoying to scroll through

On the topic of yandere simulator, can we talk about how god awful they are. I’m not even talking about the sailor uniform, those are temporary and will be replaced, but the direction yandere dev is heading with the uniforms is utterly appalling ( Link ). Everytime he puts it on a video, I have to cringe because it looks like the uniform for an anime about the US Postal Service. So I decided to make my own uniform. I’m gonna explain all my design choices and such below.

Because Akademi is supposed to be a prestigious school, I made two versions of the school uniform: One for summer (right) and one for winter (left). I took inspiration with what Yandere Dev has wanted for his uniforms (a highwaisted skirt with overalls) and applied it to the summer design for the female students. I put the school’s insignia on the front of the skirt and on the tie for the male student. The female uniform also comes with a petticoat underneath partially for warmth and partially cause I think it looks nice and adds more customization . I also made a version of the gym uniform, because the official game should come with a newly designed one and not the booty shorts and T-shirt we have. Plus it would be nice if the sports club constantly wore the gym sweater instead of the school’s blazer since it’s more comfortable and it would be easy to identify from afar (and wouldn’t be the goggles which I don’t understand the purpose of in a sports club aside from swimming, which those goggles are really uncomfortable to have on but nvm).

Another cosmetic thing I distaste about the game, the club accessories. They are... really ugly. Having a game pad or bass clef glued to your head is just awful looking. So I took it upon myself to redesign all of them. At first I was just trying to add accessories to Ayano, but that became really boring and I ended up right where I started, the accessories looking plastered on and unnatural. That’s when I started changing up her hair to better reflect the club she is in. Ayano is supposed to be a cunning killer, someone who blends in as a normal school girl. Hair is one of the places where you can really express yourself. So why not blend the two ideas together, just like with the personas in the Drama Club. In different clubs, Ayano should slightly change her appearance to better fit in with the club’s aesthetic. I mean it’s hard to believe a normal looking person would join the occult club when they all look like this. It’s a stark difference, and it just looks off. So with each club, I made an effort to better integrate Ayano.

No Club: Yandere Dev has stated that Ayano’s haircut needs to be slightly changed before the game comes out in order to not use storebought assets, so I just have her a higher shorter ponytail with an easy to recognize silhouette. Ayano’s updo will follow into the rest of her club designs to distinguish her.

Cooking Club: The cooking club’s bonus is to help raise reputation. Following with Amai’s sweet nature, I thought Ayano would’s design would be more rounded and friendly so I gave her a bun. and made her hair curved inwards.

Drama Club: Yandere Dev explained in “The Curious Case of Kokona Haruka”, the Drama Club will probably have a hierarchy of curled hair. Because Ayano joins the Drama Club, she should abide by this hierarchy and curl her hair too. Plus roses for the extra effect.

Sports Club: I didn’t have lots of ideas for this one, but I gave Ayano a braid so her hair because less of a hindrance when she participates in activities. But I certainly hate the goggles you get when you join the sports club, so I gave her shades instead. It makes more sense to wear so the sun doesn’t get in your eyes, rather than you might jump in the pool at any second. Plus the sweatbands can relate to Asu Rito when she arrives.

Occult Club: All the occult club members cover one eye in one way or another, and a good portion have messy hair, why not make Ayano do the same thing.

Gardening Club: The random flower sorta bothered me. Not that it’s inherently bad, it just weird looking and contrasts Ayano’s design in my opinion. So I put her hair down to better reflect the calm and relaxed demeanor in the club.

Light Music Club: Since Miyuji has a punk rock aesthetic in her club, why not show that in Ayano. It’s certainly better than glueing a Bass Cleff to your head.

Martial Arts Club: A braid is easier to have when you’re constantly moving and sweating. Plus it can serve as a reference to an anime I’ve never even watched.

Photography Club: I really wanted to make another scooby doo reference and have Ayano’s hair reflect one of the hex girls, but having her hair down didn’t match the rest of the Ayano’s design for the rest of the clubs unfortunately. So I just have her a chill bun and ponytail to make her look fun-loving and cool.

Art club: It’s unfortunate that the art club doesn’t have a set look other than Geiju cause I didn’t really know what to do. But I gave her cat buns in order to show that she is a creative and unique person, who would probably fit right into the art club. Also the beret is sorta a weird addition, cause no artist would ever wear that, so I just put a pencil and brush behind her ear instead cause at least that makes sense. I actually like Geiju with a beret though, don’t take that away from me. If he’s the only one wearing one, it would just be funny because maybe he’s trying to get into the mindset of the old masters by wearing one. I love that boy.

Gaming Club: This one was sorta hard. I hate the game pad, and I’ve heard of others suggesting headphones instead, which is a much better idea. So I gave her headphones. Because the gaming club is sorta a childish club, I gave her pigtails with berets resembling the buttons on a ps4 controller. For the rest of the gaming club though, instead of the blazer, I would give them a hoodie and headphones to better sell the “I spend all my time playing video games” idea in addition to it being more comfortable, which I think they would appreciate.

Science Club: It’s sorta ridiculous that all the science club wears the DBZ eyepiece, but that’s sorta the point and charm of them, so I wouldn’t change that. The idea that either they all love DMZ, or that Kaga loves DBZ so much that he forced the other members to wear an eyepiece too is amazing. I just gave her a neat bun, straight on her head to give her an unsettling, artificial look. (By making it symmetrical you know?)

It’s important not only cosmetically, but to the gameplay to have good silhouettes for important people. You need to know who’s around you as quickly as possible. There shouldn’t be idle time trying to figure out if there’s a bully, regular student, delinquent, or student council member down that hallway when Osana is ripe for the killing. Rivals should also have unique silhouettes and clothes to distinguish them from regular students.

For Bullies, I know that they modify their skirts to be shorter than they’re supposed to be. So I turned that idea up to eleven to make a super short skirt with a tutu like petticoat underneath. The bullies put a large amount of frills under their skirts because they want to look unique and flashy. I also know that they are inspired by gyarus so I put some of what I found with the leopard print, and furry legwarmers. Also gave them those large earrings to really sell how much they care about their appearance. For each bully, they could also have either a different undershirt or different color leopard print. They also have a summer and winter version .

For Delinquents: I didn’t have much to comment on with their deigns. My version wouldn’t be much different, just instead giving them my blazer instead of the one present in the game. Maybe for the summer uniform they could have one strap off to show that they are really bad to the bone.

For Student Council: I thought they should have a military themed uniform. What they wear should be very distinguishable from regular students because as yandere dev explained, you shouldn’t be walking around, commit a crime then get mad because a student was around that you didn’t know was part of the student council and you get an instant game over. But their uniform should also not be very modified because they stick to the rules. They should not have a summer and winter version because you shouldn’t have to relearn what the student council looks like. They are a very important group in the game, and as such should be consistent.  The student council uniform in the game isn’t bad (it’s grown on me) but it’s still not very good. It serves it’s purpose, which is all it needs right now, but has no relevance to the rest of the school. I gave them something to put over their school assigned skirt. This gives them a clear silhouette by shear contrast, while also reaffirming the military theme I wanted.

For Rivals: I really wanted to make a summer and winter version of the uniforms, cause that’s how schools function. So by doing this, the first five rivals have summer uniforms, to introduce the game as more lively and “it’s summer, everything is great and nothing can go wrong. The prime time for romance” but as the game progresses it gets colder as the atmosphere drops. The game gets harder, and it’s reflected in the weather. By the time Megami shows up, it’s the dead of winter. It’s good symbolism.

Osana: I know alot of people draw her with an orange sweater, and since I am unoriginal and I like the idea I drew her with it too. It’s cute and offsets her mean outer shell and shows she is really a soft sweet person on the inside. Can you imagine senpai teasing her for wearing a sweater in the middle of summer, and she just responds with “Shut up, I need it for my cold heart”.

Amai: I don’t think Amai is the type to really change her uniform all that much. No one really gets dressed to cook, and I think giving her a sweater would limit her in the kitchen. So instead I just made her design more round because round = nice and friendly in design. She might alter her sleeves just to be cute though.  If I had to, maybe outside of the kitchen I would give her a shawl.

Kizana: I agree with the idea that Kizana should change her hair every day of the week. Her differing silhouette would make her harder to identify and a harder rival to eliminate. I feel like she would change her uniform as much as possible without breaking the dress code, and would even be the type to look out for loopholes in the dress code itself to use it to her advantage (seriously she should be a later rival, at least 5th because I feel like she is way smarter than Oka and Asu). She hitches up the side of her dress and pins it up to reveal her petticoat for a dramatic, stylish look. On top of wearing the cravat assigned to the drama club and a red lace blazer to sell how refined she is and red being a passionate color. Her skirt is also bell shaped to exaggerate her hips, which makes her look more sassy. (Please Yandev don’t cake my queen’s face with makeup in the final game)

Oka: I feel like she would want to cover up as much as possible. Instead of giving her a big jacket though, I wanted to make her more sleek as a bulky oufit does not reflect her personality. Oka is really petite and feels small and shy, so that should be reflected in her outfit. So I made her skirt thinner, longer and narrow towards the bottom. I also gave her gothic elements with the corset, lace and skirt opening at the bottom, as well as a grayer petticoat underneath, because she is into all those sorta things. The sleeves she’s wearing is not just random sleeves, it’s part of a jacket that’s longer in the back.

Asu: I didn’t have much ideas here. I think Asu Rito has a fine design just like all the rivals, and since she is much more casual I doubt she’s wear a jacket over her school clothes. I think the school would allow her to wear a T-shirt with Kyoshi’s insistence. She wouldn’t wear a petticoat because there’s no point, she doesn’t get cold and doesn’t need it for any kind of fashion She’s all utility baby. It would differentiate her more easily though if the rest of the sports club wore their gym uniforms, whereas she tied the jacket around her waist.

(I didn’t bother with Mina and Muja cause it has nothing to do with uniforms and they are a whole can of worms on their own. Muja is the first rival of the winter season though, and starting off the season with an adult is very telling about the difficulty spike)

Osoro: She needed to look grungy and beat up. So I tore up her skirt and petticoat (she needs it for the warmth). She opens up her jacket and undoes her bow. Still always sporting the male rival school uniform. If I wanted to put more thought, now that I think about it I may have changed the rival school’s male uniform to male it look more brash and threatening on Osoro, as well as rolling up her sleeves. It would be kinda cool if her ribbon was replaced with something more durable that the school wouldn’t notice (just reinforced in some way) so that she could use it as a versatile weapon.

Hanako: I didn’t have much to say here, but it’s terrible how the winter and summer uniforms were cemented in my head once I saw this outfit and knew I wanted Hanako to wear it. It doesn’t make any sense for Hanako to wear Akademi’s uniform so even in the final game yandere dev would need a new middle school uniform to give her (unless the player chooses the sailor outfit for everyone). But since dev has already stated Hanako could come to school during a school festival, it would be nice if she wore something cute and festive for winter. Especially if she’s just at school to have fun with her brother. Also I know it’s not official but giving Hanako bunny stockings would be really adorable.

Megami: Megami should wear the student council uniform. But it was hard to alter an alter. So Megami’s skirt is slightly longer than the usual uniform skirt. I’m not sure about the scarf, I just thought she would be more threatening with it on and it reinforces the cold weather motif.

Overall there are small details you can add like rings and stuff but my drawings were really simple so I didn’t add any in, just overall if I was designing their uniforms, this is how I would make them look.

The 2017 is almost finished~

It's a bit early but I don't care -v- i wanna write something about this year tagging some friends ♡

@u-kun18, my dear friend, at first when I create my blog I started to follow you just because I loved (and already love) your art, in fact at first I called you senpai because you were like a senpai for me x3 but then I started to write under your posts and you always answered, I was happy. But then, that day, 21st May 2017 you said to me something that I still have on my pc, you said to me such cute and kind things, so I decided that maybe in that day we became friends...okkey at first we didn't talk too much but now? Heh...we talk almost everyday and I just have to send a letter with a present for your birthday to you. We become really close friends and I didn't expected this, I'm really shy and I was sure that no one will like me, but you...you are my first friend on tumblr and you become for me like my best friend, and I have to thank you for this, I luv you so much ♡ (and you know in what mean I'm saying that -v-)

@kagamin3ko Leïla~ i know you thanks to u-kun, you poofed nowhere and you asked me to become friends, at first I wasn't so sure but I told you yes anyway, and I'm happy to have said that "yes". As I said for u-kun, at first we didn't talk to much, and still now, but it's not mine or your fault x3 but at least, even if we don't talk so much we are really close, I try to help you when you're sad and you do the same with me, we worry for the other, I'm very happy for this x3 also, your art is really cute, don't say the different -v- (and even you are cute eheheh)

Semi Polygon: Summary of Art 2017 and highlights

Here are my main arts through out the year 2017.

Read me rambling down here if you want: 

This year, I began doing digital arts around the end of February and it’s a whole new experience for me. I’m still in the process of self-learning and well, I learn a lot but there’s still a longggggggggggggggg way to go. 

Looking my through my art folders this year, I mostly drew FFXV... A. WHOLE. LOTS!!! Lolololoolol ~ Then come Fire Emblem, DURARARA!!. and most recently near the end of the year, BNHA as well. 

A more personal rambling:

Drawing is not only a passion of mine but also a way for me to escape into another world, a way to communicate and connect with others. I have been making so many new good friends and meeting new amazing people thanks to drawing in just 2017 alone and I’m very happy cuz of it. 

As some of you may or may not know, I’m currently attending university. Obviously my choice is to study the Arts and Design major but like most stereotype Asian family you see on the internet, that choice was taken away from me. At first I was very frustrated, then depression came and my things felt like they are all going to sh!ts.

Luckily, I have my waifu, my good friends here on Tumblr and my senpais who encourage me a lot and after a while, I finally find the determination to get over my depression. I talked to my mother and we worked out major that both me and my family can agree on. It’s not art but it’s still something that I find interest in. 

I begin joining clubs at schools and become their visual design member. Last November, I was honored to be designing the marketing banner for my university’s campaign named “Personal Edge”.

Wanting to also put my drawing skills to good use, my first commission called “Arts for Cats” was opened on Tumblr and I got a huge support my senpai. I was so grateful. (Thank you again, my fellow peeper senpai! ^^)

Then came many other milestones for me and my arts that left me speechless, lol.

As for now, I’m not only a college student anymore but is also a freelance artist in which I never thought it could happened. OH BOI!

I know there still going to be a lot of hard times a head but I will try my best to overcome them!

average hours spent sleeping: Well, during school i can be functional with 4 hours of sleeping but usually i get around 6, sometimes when i’m in mood i get 8 but that’s rare (?)

dogs or cats: I CAN’T PICK but i would be more on dog’s side bc i loe my puppy husbandos

dream trip: Being honest i have never been a trip guy, i am more someone who rathers to stay at home all the time also counting the fact that i’m scared of flights don’t even make me think about the Europe trip, that was half bad half good, but i would say that either London or any part of the UK, Japan at least once and Canada, bonus points if i get a cute boyfriend to do that 

number of blankets i sleep with: That depends, usually i only sleep with one blanket but when it comes to winter i can use one or two and a comforter OK FUN FACT, YOU CAN’T BE MEXICAN IF YOU DON’T HAVE A COMFORTER LIKE THIS FOR WINTER 

dream job: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... idon’treallyknowwhatiwanttodoforliving i guess something related to making video games, animated movies, or even just 3D modeling? but being honest one i would be totally ok only working on a small humble cafe with my future boyfriend haha
