Have you finished veilguard? If so, what did you think of the ending?

hey anon! I finished it last night. I'm still arranging my feelings overall, but my first impressions are as follows (mild, vague spoilers so under the cut)

I saw the twist about Varric coming from mid-act 2, and I still think it's cheap. I think it's a soulless, corporate best of both worlds - you get to leverage fandom nostalgia and pander to your audience by having his voice actor present throughout, but then his character has no meaningful impact on the story. The explanation i came up for it in my head when it was a theory was also stronger than what we were given in game.

I think the choice between Davrin/Lace is valid as a narrative choice that raises the stakes of the final conflict, but limiting it to only two companions with minimal reactivity is a shame, and the two companions they choose is highly suspect.

As always, and forever, I do not care about Solas the way this game wants me to care about Solas.

When Varric gave his hero/villain speech about Solas, I had to take a walk.

If you want your male villain/antihero to be deep and meaningful, maybe make his mindprison quest a little longer and add some puzzles, so that his 'prison of infinite regret' cannot be broken out of by one (1) hypercompetent woman in under ten minutes flat (Rook is the hypercompetent woman, not I).

I did not pick the 'best' ending bc I do not think it is the 'best' ending. But the ending I chose was incredibly satisfying given that I ended the game honestly feeling like I'd spit on Solas in the street, or go back to Inquisition to punch him a second time.

I enjoyed the combat! Particularly Elgar'nan's rave stage in his boss battle.

I think it's a shame that the final quest is a funnel, that then becomes more and more streamlined as your companions are picked away. If they had a cast of 9 like other dragon age games it would maybe work better, bc your choices of party members for tasks to get the 'good' ending really limits the choices for your own party, which is frustrating as it's the last time you're fighting and you want to have your faves with you! (I had the same issue with BG3, to be fair.)

My feelings of the game overall are mixed. I had a lot of fun. I like a game where combat is easy but engaging. It was addictive to finish. I also don't think it's worth the money I paid for it.

I loved Rook, but often felt like they were a bystander in their own story, rather than the protagonist. And I think everything - from the plot to the companions quests to the romances - is underwritten, in a way I only hope fandom can fix.

BUT I loved Tunic so much, one of my all time favorite games I've ever played. If this was a Zelda game, it might've been my favorite Zelda game. This was only beat out by Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice bc my aa brainrot is that bad hfjdkal.

Summary

What a phenomenal game. I loved playing this game so much. It was challenging and I wasn't used to the souls mechanics, but I learned fast and had so much fun fighting the bosses. I love the two endings. The Bad where you replace your former self as the heir, continuing the cruel cycle. The Good where you free the Heir and find out it's you, older, someone who is no longer stuck in the cycle, and you get to be friends together. The music is absolutely gorgeous. I listened to it while falling asleep and was just sobbing from it. I love how mysterious the lore is and how everything still hasn't been answered. I love the designs of the environments and enemies and how the game can go from nice and serene to dark and creepy. I loved how this game was a perfect blend of 2D zelda plus monument valley plus a souls game, it forced me to think outside of the box and use my journal to takes notes on all the little secrets and surprises. I can def see myself play this game again, it's such a charming game that has a lot of nostalgia despite being a fairly new game. I am so happy I bought the deluxe edition, I truly cherish this game so much and love the stickers and artbooks I received. I highly recommend this game to anyone, it is such an incredible journey to go through. I'm gonna be spending a lot of time watching and reading about the lore and digging deeper into this game. Truly what a phenomenal game with such a cute yet tragic main character, ough i love tunic.

While nostalgia might definitely play a role, the Silver fans I know like him bc of the plot potential of him being Giovanni's son and the subtle character arc he goes through. He never abandons his Pokemon despite calling them weak, gets the classic Golbat friendship evolution, his arrogance reads more like trying to prove a point to himself bc of Gio literally leaving him in a random parking lot at age 8-9. A lot of his speech actually mirrors what Rocket grunt NPCs tell you in-game. The switch from saying "I" to "we." The Dragon's Den, Dad Lance adoption speedrun everybody likes. I suppose there's also the potential "Red/Leaf are related to Gio" theory with the Scientist Gideon mistaking us for Gio's kid, until remembering the red hair bit. I always assumed it was bc we shared those facial features, or the eye color. Another possibility is that Silver was on that island and we were the only kid the scientist ran into, which raises the theory that he's been watching the player hiding in Gio's office somewhere the whole time. If you're a Chikorita!Silver truther, its evolutions pokedex mimics him too. Meganium, the final evo, releases a soothing scent. Bayleef, the midway journey, releases a scent that makes you want to fight. I know there's a lot of analysis ppl have done, but this is all I can remember off the top of my head. Now I'm wondering how the relationship between the KanJoh generation is written, how does their story play out? Is it just like the games, with Green going @/Lyra like he did with Red, "you look kind of like her...just a bit."

Oh, what a detailed message! But I believe the reason why I seem so "chill" with shipping as a concept is due to the fact I haven't forgotten this is meant to be a fun activity. Certainly there are some pairings as well as dynamics I deeply despise, however I prefer to place my focus on what brings me happiness.

I personally perceive Silver as a fascinating character for all the above reasons and more. Nostalgia also doesn't exactly affect my view of him since I didn't have the opportunity to play HeartGold and SoulSilver until relatively recently.

But with how strangely members of the fanbase behaved towards Kieran before the release of The Indigo Disk, as well as Volo in ways I don't even want to discuss here, I couldn't help wondering if Silver is lucky enough to escape that sort of discourse simply due to the time period he was introduced to the series.

It's actually interesting you ask about the relationship between the Kanto and Johto characters in Sisterhood, because I wrote a post just the other night involving Leaf, Green, Kotone, and Silver which I intend to share sometime soon.

As for where to start with the games--this is all really depending on how your own personal playstyle! Do you like games that are more easy going and light on plot? Or do you like ones with heavy amounts of story? Or do you prefer games that are a perfect blend of the two? Pokemon's got a mixed bag of all of the above so you really can't go wrong

If you're into that really nostalgia feel I'd recommend starting out with the first Pokemon game I ever played as a kid, which was Pokemon Emerald! You can actually play this for free by downloading a Gameboy Advance emulator and the Emerald ROM. I have a lot of fond memories of Emerald and it's still one of my favorite games to date. I actually even prefer Emerald over its remakes (Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire) bc it just doesn't quite hit the same lol. I think even without having played Emerald as a kid it'll just spark that nostalgic feeling? It's that kind of game, at least to me :")

Going off of that if you REALLY want to hit nostalgia central and start where it all began, Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen is also a good game to start out with. It's a remake of Pokemon Red/Blue, which were the first ever Pokemon games that were made. Personally I'm not a super huge Gen 1 fan bc I feel like it's been WAY overdone at this point (it's had two remakes already) but if you've never played a Pokemon game again it's definitely a good starting point. It's barely got any plot so it's really a game you can just dive into and enjoy without focusing too hard on the story. AND as an added bonus, Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver is the direct sequel to Gen 1 (and a remake of the original Gold/Silver/Crystal) so I'd definitely play that one as well, it's lots of fun!

Of course I will also recommend Pokemon Black/White and Black 2/White 2, which is generation 5 and my FAVORITE mainline Pokemon games of all time. BW released right before the transition to the 3D games so it still has sprite art. It's a GORGEOUS game honestly and I think it's really well balanced with story VS gameplay. It's got great characters and fantastic design elements (with everything honestly like the Pokemon designs are great, the character designs are great, the city/town designs are great, etc) and the most KICKASS soundtrack ever (looking at you Driftveil City AKA Toothless dancing meme music). I could go on and on and on about Gen 5 for hours lmao I really hold it near and dear to my heart. Also it's one of the very few games that actually has a sequel which I LOVE. BW2 takes place two years after BW and I love the story and character progression 🥰

Shouting out Pokemon Platinum as well, I know it's a huge fan favorite and honestly I also love it very much!! Platinum came out before BW did so it's got that early DS era feel to it. It's got a decent plot and classic fun gameplay elements. Also Pokemon Legends Arceus which ties directly into Platinum as its prequel (but you should play Platinum first? I know it's confusing lol). PLA is SUPER fucking fun, it's got a completely different gameplay style and mechanic than regular Pokemon games, and it ties in with Platinum so well.

And to my last few recommendations -

Pokemon Sun and Moon!! There's mixed feelings about this one from a lot of people but it's one of my personal favorites...I think people dislike that it's so plot heavy, there's a LOT of dialogue even when starting the game so if you're not into that I wouldn't go with SM. But I LOVE games that are heavy with plot and SM just does it so well. The characterization is really well done and I love watching Lillie go through her development arc 🤧 But yeah it's SM NOT Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon which are like. The same games but Worse. USUM took SM's plot and stomped all over it so I would not go for those lol

And, of courseeee. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet! These are the most recent mainline games to release and ohhh my god. Is the game laggy and bugged out as hell? Yes. Is it also fucking FANTASTIC and has made me cry multiple times? ALSO yes. If you don't mind occasional shitty graphics then please please PLEASE play SV. The open world aspect is a ton of fun, the new Pokemon designs are so charming, the characters are wonderful, and the STORY??? The plot literally blew my socks off the first time I played it. SV endgame you will always be the king of my heart. It's definitely heavier than any previous Pokemon game and it had me reeling for DAYS after. The story is just. So so so good. And we get a continuation of the story kicking ass in the DLC. I love SV to death it really redeemed Pokemon after the disaster that was gen 8 for me (and it's REALLY fun to shiny hunt in).

And LAST but certainly not least. My favorite Pokemon game of all time period ever in the history of Pokemon. Not a mainline game but a side/spinoff game--Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky!! If you want the classic Pokemon experience I probably wouldn't start with this since it's so different from the mainline games but I'd 10000% play it after finishing your first Pokemon game. It's a dungeon crawler, you get to BE a Pokemon, the music is phenomenal, the gameplay is phenomenal, the story is PHENOMENAL, everything about it is incredible and I will love this game until the day I die. I CANNOT recommend it enough. It's so so SO good and it means so much to me I can't even. Please play PMD Sky this goes to everyone who hasn't played it I prommy it's worth it

So basically:

Easy games with no/light plot: FRLG, Emerald, HGSS

Games with a perfect blend of actual gameplay and plot: BW/B2W2, Platinum, PLA

Games that hit HEAVY with plot/storyline: SM, SV, PMD Sky

Honestly you really cannot go wrong no matter where you start out. Even if it's with one of the games I DIDN'T personally recommend, all the mainline games have their own unique charm and each generation has its die hard fans (UNOVA GANG RISE). I've played all of them and they're all enjoyable!

As for the anime, my personal recommendations are the XY saga and the SM saga! The SM saga is my ultimate favorite, it's really cute and charming and fun, with some heavier plot arcs sprinkled in so it's a good blend between lighthearted stuff and more serious story. XY is VERY plot-heavy especially in the latter part, there's a lot of character development and crazy stuff going on, so I'd go for that one if you want to get hit hard with Feels. I haven't watched as much of the anime so I'm sure other people would recommend other seasons (I know the original saga, the Hoenn saga and the DP saga are fan favorites).

I'd also recommend watching the sub instead of the dub,, especially if you haven't grown up watching the Pokemon anime like me the dub is VERY hit or miss. I prefer subs as well bc the dub actually cuts out a LOT of stuff? I know for SM they had fun extra little bits at the beginning and ending of each episode that the dub just. Didn't include. For some reason? Like they'd cut out entire scenes. Idk. It's up to you either way tho ^^

Ok, finally watched Deadpool and Wolverine. Thoughts:

Things I liked:

-Cavillrine. Wade should've name dropped "those shitfucks down the street" as warner bros execs specifically but I know it wasn't viable. Henry you're my true superman (and Geralt) forever.

-Hugh Jackman, obviously. He always puts his everything into this character and it's beautiful.

-Backstreet boys' Bye bye bye in the beginning (cheeky nod to Wade swinging both ways? Or all the ways actually)

-Soundtrack in general. I have the impression that they tried to use songs that were popular at the time the fox films they referenced were released and that was sweet. Pure nostalgia.

-Is it just me or the fights between Logan and Wade felt a lot bit homoerotic at times? Especially the car fight. Not just the coreography but like.. the camera slowly panning away while showing the car shaking up and down as the daylight fades? Like, damn. okay. I see what you did there..

That and the other little moments where they weren't fighting but were in close proximity/contact with each other bc reasons. Good job u guys. 10/10 👍🏼

-X23. I'd really like to see her back as the main timeline x23 but i don't trust Disney to not fuck this up.

-All the cameos really. Channing Tatum was avenged too by finally being able to play gambit which is good tho I wish he had the black and red eyes from the cartoons that would've been cool. But yeah he was really funny. (My fancast for main timeline Gambit is still Josh Hartnett tho, that being said Channing was still a good Remy)

-Cassandra was a nice surprise, I didn't know that character or the actress and she made a surprisingly fun creepy villain.

Things I didn't like or threw me off bc im too much of a nerd to not notice:

-Vanessa being fridged without actually being fridged. She was in this movie even less than in the movie where she got killed?Someone really "didn't want to share the spotlight" this time lol

-No but seriously, the reason they broke up wasn't clear/didn't make much sense to me, although I have to praise the acting. I think they just wanted an excuse to make Wade spiral again but they don't know what to do with a no-powers character in a superhero movie unless they're a male comic relief?

-The staples on the head gag. It was funny at first but. regenerative powers. His body should have pushed them out at most a couple seconds after, like it does with bullets. They could still have made a joke out of it.

-And I actually only realized this after watching the film but shouldn't Wolverine also not be able to get drunk bc of his powers? In Deadpool's game Wade can't get drunk bc of exactly bc of that and in Catfa Steve can't get drunk while mourning Bucky for the same reason. And I'm pretty sure his regenerative powers are pretty mild compared to Logan and Wade's.

-They missed a chance to throw in a zip it Mr Darcy. or Tom. Both would've worked. Personally I'm partial to Mr Darcy cause I'm a 2005 p&p stan and I haven't watched Succession yet but yk either would've been good.

-A lil peck between Yukio and Negasonic would've been nice 🥺

-Things I wished would've happened even though most of it can't bc Disney, but a girl can still daydream dammit:

-The timelines get fixed to keep existing when their franchises die. They keep on going we just don't see them anymore. I think implying that they die when hollywood doesn't make movies about them/they are not canon anymore is dismissive of fanworks. The multiverse should be infinite and all the stories imagined about a character whether it's "canon" or not exist somewhere no matter how terrible or ridiculous or wonderful it is. We just so happen to get to see only a handful of them in live action.

-Karl Urban as an alternate Wolverine (he's my fancast for the main timeline logan).

-The fact that if Ben Affleck got a subtle jab, Brad Pitt should've gotten 2. Non subtle ones. At all. Idk about you but I think physical abuse is a liiil worse than cheating. Just saying.

-Vanessa having powers. Hear me out: I know that her powers in the comics are basically the same as Mystique's (she's even blue too) BUT they could've made her be like that chick from Heroes that could do anything she saw other people do just by watching them. I would've been different enough from Mystique AND it would've still made sense with her superhero name being Copycat.

-Vanessa and Wade being polyamorous too

Conclusion: I think I might prefer deadpool 2 a juust a tad bit but I still really liked this one :) . It's definitely much better than anything mcu has being releasing lately

well jesus lets rewind the clock!!!!!!!!!!!! i was a goth alt girl in middle school, but the homeschooling gap i had before high school shifted my priorities- other than my hair. in high school i had rainbow hair, then bleach blonde, then all the other colors.

i went to a very small private school made up entirely of academic overachievers and bigtime troublemakers. with a student body in the double digits there wasn't really much of a social hierarchy. even the so-called popular kids…. we all knew they wouldn't be top of the food chain at ANY OTHER SCHOOL lmao. we had one sport, and a smattering of vague attempts at clubs that largely dissolved from lack of members.

my first group of friends were sort of quiet nerdy girls, but sophomore year my new bestie transferred in and i got a new social circle (which yeah... caused massive drama bc i was accused of abandoning my friends and like plz i tried to straddle both groups but one of them gave me attitude about my absence every time i was back so can u really blame me for my choice? and i'm still besties with bestie all these years later I REGRET NOTHING). bestie was a metalhead with a forbidden boyfriend, so i ran a lot of parental interference there. i was a beard for one of my friends at his family and church events [leave room for the holy spirit! embedded in my brain for life]. i did theater, traveled for theater showcases, and i was in photography club. i was constantly taking pictures and videos, i was always the girl with a camera in her hand. i didn't work yearbook staff at all but they came to me for pictures lmao. there really wasn't that much going on at school! i did go to junior and senior prom with different rando dates i aggressively avoided at afterparties. i went to parties. my older brother threw parties. my parents never laid down any rules, i could do literally anything i wanted. one time i got home at about 4am to my dads place and i was the first one there. god both my divorced parents entirely independently from each other told me IT'S OKAY IF YOU GET PREGNANT I WON'T BE UPSET!!! i mean thanks i guess??? one of my friends was the school drug dealer and the best part of that was i got a say in who to overcharge. in retrospect what a very strange social cachet. i occasionally fell into lowkey academic rivalries that pushed me to be obsessively ambitious for that one class, but beyond that i wasn't enthusiastic about academics.

i was very artsy! i made costumes for myself and other people. weirdly not for theater at all tho. bestie and i would pass notes and drawings back and forth- we'd do that exquisite corpse game a lot in class. oh god we both flunked spanish 3 junior year and had to come back for summer school for it. that wound up being like..... the best summer tho. and i'll never forget graduation. we had finals that day, a few hours at home then the graduation ceremony, immediately after that we got on the bus to disneyland, were there until 6am, then 2 hours later we were back in the car driving to mexico, and didn't get home til 3 days later. then the next saturday bestie and i were drunk off our asses at a tattoo parlor party and the next morning i was on the plane to oz. what a goddamn nostalgia bomb jesus christ WE CERTAINLY HAD FUN THO WHAT AN ERA. objectively, i have to omit rain code djfkasd. that game is mid as FUCK!!! i still love it tho. scratches me brain just right. anyway, no particular order bc im indecicive:

Ghost Trick! genuinely my favorite mystery game of all time. the story is so good that i get why so many fans are so apprehensive about giving spoilers. the main twists sure did get my ass. also the puzzles are genius. genuinely my favorite puzzle game too i think

TGAA! i mean, this had to be here. my favorite ace attorney game, my favorite visual novel, my favorite cast of characters. this game has its flaws but none of which i felt truly hindered the experience. i've been a fan since before localization and even after the worldwide release it reignited so many passions of mine

Xenoblade Chronicles! The first game. it was crowned my favorite game ever for a very long time. i sunk hundreds of hours into it, genuinely love the story, and even got hooked on the mechanics and combat. unfortunately cant say the same for its successors

Pokemon Black 2! this may be the nostalgia talking but this is a comfort game for me. ive replayed it over and over and over. same goes for pokemon black. it got me through a lot of rough childhood patches and made me feel less alone at some of my worse moments. it's very dear to me

The World Ends With You. Not only do i find the gameplay and mechanics unique and fun, but i also just. really liked this game. i played it during my transitional period moving out of america. i think it really helped me deal with opening up to new environments and the world and feeling less anxious about the move. also the soundtrack is SO early 2000s (high praise)

the first dark souls was my initial exposure to the series as a whole! I got into it some years ago but I don’t think I was as invested in it then as I am now. I’ve always loved the themes of the series and the gameplay was, despite all the frustration, very fun and engaging so I wanted to check out more souls games after it. Dsi remains my favourite game of all time along with bloodborne btw! I would blame it on nostalgia but honestly the game really does have so much to offer. dark souls i meatriding is very cliche but there’s a good reason for that yk. Nothing teaches you patience like dark souls. (this game also has one of my two favourite characters of all time, gwyndolin! they managed to create a transgender allegory that speaks so closely to me- from familial expectations to the desire to be seen and recognised by the family that constantly neglects you and shames you for your very existence to the point where your identity ceases to exist because you are trying so desperately to belong. you try to forge yourself into the perfect shape but the core of the problem lies not in the shape of your identity, but your very existence. the unending cultist devotion to the people who made your life hell because this is all you have. I love gwyndolin so much)

I moved to dark souls ii after and honestly loved it (and still love it) very much. I feel like people give it too much shit and criticise it too quickly because of its reputation, which is a shame because it has so much to offer. The lore is so rich and the gameplay can get so fun if you just give it a chance. I agree that the start is difficult, but isn’t this true with every new fromsoft game you play? The thing I really love about soulsborne games is that there is a learning curve. Absolutely anybody can finish these games even if they are a terrible gamer because of the fact there is a learning curve. And sure it’s a frustrating one a lot of the time, but when you get comfortable enough with the mechanics and become more confident in playing, the experience becomes so so fun and rewarding. The estus problems people always complain about at the beginning of the game honestly stop being a noticeable issue after you discover items that help you replace this bother. I can 100% see why somebody would dislike dsii because it unfortunately went through developement hell, but I do believe that 98% of the time people judge this game too quickly and too harshly just because of the negative reputation it has. It sucks that they don’t give it a chance. I’ve seen so many people have an opinion on it (always a bleak one) without even playing it themselves also which is so dumb. At least play it man. Idk. It gets the second-installation-in-a-series curse I guess. dsii fans need to stick together and call it the best game oat to piss everyone else off

i got into bloodborne after dsi and dsii, i think I started playing bloodborne in mid 2021? Not that long ago but it has been my absolute favourite thing in the world ever since. SO much about it has kept me around because it manages to cater to so many of my general special interests lol. I’ve always loved cosmic horror and the victorian era of medicine. religion (and how those in power can use religion to control the masses) is another thing i always end up getting fixated on, so bloodborne was just the perfect thing for me. I love the themes! And characters! And designs! And gameplay mechanics! The world building! Everything is so so good. The thing that has mainly kept me around so intensely is how important exploration and personal interpretation is with this game. this is honestly my favourite thing about all spulsborne games actually- fromsoft never gives you any direct answers, and we are still finding new things about bloodborne several years after its release which is insane. It has just an endless amount of things to offer, I can’t say ENOUGH about it. I could write pages upon pages on why I love bloodborne so much, it’s difficult to keep my answer here concise. All I can say is it consumes my every thought every second of the day. Very good.

Dsiii was the last soulsborne game i got into (not fromsoft tho, that was elden ring, which i somehow only got into on august of 2023) i love dsiii because i love the dark souls series so so much in general, but for some reason it’s my least favourite out of all spulsborne games. The story and bosses are all super cool and i loved the conclusion it provided for the series, but it’s the one i find the least entertaining? or not the least entertaining, but it’s the one I think about the least. maybe it’s because i still kind of experience it as a. second version of bloodborne since i played bloodborne before ds3 lol. which is an unfair judgement but I can’t let go of that feeling it gives me for some reason. great game but I end up fixating more on the others fsr

navlaan is my favourite character in ds2 also! i love a little fucked up sorcerer. I need more grey thinking. good and bad mean nothing in the name of acquiring knowledge. nuance is required to understand navlaan and its why I often avoid reading stuff about him lol.

Now, kinda long ramble about DA:TV

Listen, i know this game is def not a GOTY, and i know i may be biased bc I'm such a Dragon Age nerd that I'll consume basically anything they throw at me, but after hours of playing i can safely say it's not a bad game. I keep reading critics around the internet about how awful it is when they're basically all the same and in reality we have to accept that even if it doesn't fully feel like Dragon Age, and even if we're disappointed it didn't turn out the way we expected, it's still fun!

My thoughts? Yes, I hate that nothing we did in previous games matters. I hate that i don't get to see what happened with the state of the world I created by playing all three games over and over again, and I'm terribly disappointed, but you know what? I'm not mad at them for making this a clean state. Guys, let's be real, it's been 10 years and we (the fans) are older. If it weren't for Keep I wouldn't even remember my first DA:I playthrough. This is EXACTLY what happens when childhood tv shows get reboots that are clearly aimed at younger audiences but still want to appeal to the nostalgia.

And i gotta be honest guys, I truly dislike a lot of the dialogues bc they feel cringy to me, and you may think "that's just lazy and bad writing" or "you can't have bad dialogue in a RPG" but you know what? It's not bad, the issue here is that the dialogue appeals, yet again, to a much younger audience and i just don't resonate with it. It doesn't really matter, there's a lot of dialogues I've very much enjoyed too. And even when I really dislike that everything feels like hidden political discourse, I'm still glad that there is political discourse to begin with.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't DA been political since the very beginning? Although it was way better integrated to the story (I can't forgive the writers for not using the Qun and their views on gender as a main topic with Taash instead of having them dealing with a typical mom)

Either way, I LOVE the characters and the story. I love their plots. I cannot begin to tell you how much it meant to me when Emmrich confessed he was afraid of dying and then going through his storyline, it hit so close to home in a way no other piece of media had lately. And for me it was Emmrich, but for other people it could be Lucanis embracing his dark or Bellara learning to let go, or Taash with gender, or their multicultural background. Even Davrin learning how to take care of someone else and trusting.

At the end of the day, a fun game is a fun game. We got a bunch of Lore, fanservice and cameos. We got topics that resonate with players and we got feelings. And most importantly, we may get more DA content in the future.

My only real issue with this game is that it just feels too safe.

Hi!!! It's no bother at all. This exact topic has haunted me for a long time, actually, so I'd love an excuse to ramble about it.

TL;DR: No, I don't think that Wesker is attracted to Rebecca. Take it with a grain of salt, have fun, and enjoy the sunglasses man to your hearts content.

Since Capcom nor the original RE2 team have ever come out with their exact intentions behind the Rebecca photo, we can only really speculate what they were trying to do there. Were they trying to hint that Wesker has some weird sexual obsession with Rebecca? Unlikely, IMO. Were they trying to sprinkle a little secret fan service into their game? YES, definitely!

It was pretty common for games of that era- especially Japanese games- to add some kind of fan service like that into their games, devs loved that shit. Still do. But because fan service has basically no reason behind it, they usually ended up adding it in really weird and random ways. In RE2, the only real place it would have made sense for the photo to be would have been the S.T.A.R.S office and, my guess is, since Chris's desk already had a lot of items connected to it, Wesker's desk just was the next logical conclusion for them. Re2make was just playing to nostalgia.

You also have to realize that if he really did have a thing for her, that probably would have come up at some point in literally any other way. Wesker mode in RE0 is explicitly just a fun little costume mode and an act of fan service in its own right. There isn't any changes to the story, cutscenes, or dialogue, only gameplay. As well, if he had a thing for her, you'd think it would have been considered important enough that OTHER games might have used it as a plot point. Like, re5, maybe? Perhaps they would have put her in Jill's role, or made Wesker come after her in some other way. Instead, she's just an unlockable companion for Chris, nothing more.

Anyway, sorry for such a long-winded answer to your question, but NO, I don't think Wesker is attracted to Rebecca. I think he is just a victim of unfortunate circumstances that have implicated him in having a thing for a girl literally 20 years his junior. Maybe I'm wrong, but as it stands I think you're safe to enjoy him as much as you damn well please, as long as you just don't think about it all too hard.

i have no idea how do you manage to fill up your sims 3 worlds and houses and sims and make them look so alive and modern and yours

unfortunately, I'm joining the club of the ones sick of sims 4 and i need help. i love the game, god i don't think i've ever had such fun, though, the visuals are yk.. ea's 2009 visuals.. and the nostalgia look is not the problem at all, but i was wondering if you had any tips to starting to get into the personalising the game just as you do

it's not as beginner friendly as sims 4 is and though it's not a bad thing at all, i am feeling a bit overwhelmed by the desire of wanting to play in a game that reflects my visuals taste just as i managed to do in sims 4 when i played it (idk if i explained myself well, my english's not the best, sorry!)

I don’t really do anything to the sims in my world, unless my sims interact with them on a daily basis. Mostly to avoid save bloat. For the lots however, I enjoy making them over myself, so it really isn’t an issue for me in that respect.

Either way I kinda enjoy nostalgia, and Sims 3 is old enough to where much of its bg the content is what a lot of Sims 4 players are wanting more of. I think the main thing is just to know what overall aesthetic you want out of it. Like ppl who play ACNH, utilize tools like Create a Style to achieve things like a silly more colorful looking world, or a soft earthy more cottage core world, or a drab more moody world. The objects themselves are timeless thanks to the ability to pattern and paint them on the fly.

Sims 3 focuses on customization of the world as much as sims and lots, and it can be overwhelming, but tbh Sims 4 was exactly the same way for me. I was still having to redo every lot, but the worlds are fixed in their own aesthetics so it’s even harder imo to get everything to where I wanted it, bc what I wanted a lot of the time just didn’t fit, and considering how tiny the worlds are I mean this literally and figuratively.

Luckily Sims 3 has a plethora of worlds and custom worlds, and there are so many out there that are already doing a lot of the aesthetic leg work for you. The only hard part is finding the right one that fits the idea in your head.

Now as for the visuals, like with Sims 4 there are so many ways around that. Ppl use Reshade/Gshade heavily in both, and I personally find it to be a pretty stunning game for its age. Making sure it recognizes your graphics card, adjusting your settings, and using lighting mods goes a long way.

the whole fic was so fun to write! but from the prompt, i probably most wanted to write the whole convo with xl where mq reveals he's terrified of losing fx

i love when a character is really angsty and terrified of losing the person they love👌 so fun to write. also i loved writing all the mq & xl scenes actually, bc i love mulian/xianle trio 😭 i also really love having xl be the supportive best friend in fengqing fics and the one who just Knows what's up with fengqing. i also had fun having xl tell mq to "just tell him" like how he told fx that in my first ever fengqing fic AKSJKS

★ what was the hardest scene to write?

tbh, the ending 😭 after writing all the delicious angst, i wasn't sure how & where to end it. especially after id made mq so angsty about how fx probably would never reciprocate his feelings, i wasn't sure how mq would react to fx suddenly reciprocating,, still not sure if what I wrote was a bit ooc in the sense of mq confessing so easily. and i kind of cut the fic short a little even though they could have gone on bantering for a long time, bc i was only planning to write 3k but it ended up 7k and i was running out of energy/steam djdhk so yeah i struggled with the ending and worry that it was a bit abrupt or that it switched too drastically from angst > comedic banter

answered this here on my other blog! im actually very curious if I have a distinct writing style bc idk if I do and I try to vary it when it's a different genre or different character's pov 🤔

aside from what I wrote in my answer in the other post, thematically id say maybe if a fic is angsty but ends hopeful with lots of emotional hurt/comfort? or sometimes another character telling the mc that they are loved or not a bad person? i really like writing those kinds of fics. just emotional "maybe i was wrong. maybe im not inherently unloveable and maybe happy endings are actually possible" kind of endings, after a lot of angst. also lots of nostalgia and reflecting on the past vs present..

ive also had readers tell me they can feel the emotions of the characters in my fics or that even my fluff fics make them cry so maybe that's smth distinctive?

(usually i only make a fic anon if it's smut or its a fandom i don't want to be perceived writing, or if it's Really really bad)

right now? my little brothers are about to both start new things which is exciting vicariously but also some friends are in town! hi friends! (<-theyre not on tumblr) and i get to see them soon. yippee!!

i realise this every two months but i don't think i want to be a professional artist i just think i want to work in the arts in a guidance role/i get a lot more professional pride and sense of achievement helping someone achieve their goals artistically than i do from achieving my own and honestly im GOOD at support roles like working as basically a pa or editor or whatever. but this means giving up the idea of being acknowledged on a wider scale for my own perspectives and artistic vision and letting myself just be a support role... hmm tough thing to ponder that also doesn't at all relate to my current line of work so like. maybe don't worry about it king (im king)

this carbon dates who i was online but do you guys remember bry? yeah with the. fabulous foursome (?) (dan phil crabsticks and kickthepj) well on the outside of that group was a fifth guy on youtube called brybry? bribri? it's been YEARS but he made music mostly he was honestly more in the dodie clark sphere of brittube and if i remember right he had a music video or something similar with kickthepj which is how i got into him ANYWAY. he did a tiny uk tour at the height of his popularity and he played a tiny venue near me and i didn't really know him but my friends from the neighbouring secondary happened to give me a lift home the night that he was local (bc i stayed at school late for a netball practice and their school just finished later than mine) and on the drive back they asked if I wanted to come with and since the tickets were like £15 quid and i had lift there and back secured my mom let me. it was honestly pretty cute AND I SAW ORLA GARLAND and got a signed disc of her first ep whose music i still enjoy to this day but idk if that's mostly bc of the nostalgia factor of this cute concert. i got a brybry rubber wristband thing bc those were still a thing for emo bands and my little brother cut it up like two years later in a boredom curiousity way (he was like 7) and i got so disproportionately angry about it that he still recounts it as 'How He Realised Objects Hold Sentimental Value' and he fished the bits out of the trash. i have them in a memory box of that era bc i thought one day i would reconstruct the brybry wristband (which i never wore, bc i didn't feel like enough of a real fan) . yeah

adànor (my dnd character based off...adam lobcorp) was difficult because i was stressin like "uhhhghh how do you name an elven characterrrrrr" but i found this fun website and used it to come up with a first and last name! i chose the prefix Adàn because it's literally jsut the spanish way to say adam lol....also bcuz im hispanic and it sounds better than just a d a m .... used the suffix -or because it sounded nicest and elfy lol, it also means flower (just according to this little site) which is fun. his last name is caldeth which sounds epic but also means eternal faith which...fits his character lol. i pulled up a bunch of name meanings for adàn and used the one i liked most LMFAO so in the early days of the campaign (when he was still innocent.......and very egotistical lol) he'd introduce himself like "i am adànor caldeth, which means earth flower of undying faith . . " or some pretentious shit like that. it was pretty funny while it lasted

bierrab kaluk (my aaracokra dnd character, which is a giant bird) is literally just mangled up "birb" and "cluck" LOL. my friend fuzz helped me come up w this one and it stuck

adanor's is 100% cannibal by tally hall im so fucking normal about this i can't explain it completely but it fits in line with how his plot went and its. grips . GRIPSSSSS GRIPS he's haunted by his dead wife. to the point where he will undergo horrors and get actually ripped apart for her if its what she wants. he ends up getting manipulated by an evil entity disguising herself as his dead wife into sevrving her by doing exactly that. and he just believed it was her because she loves him and would do him no wrong. hiding in the corners disguised....he's really idolizing the blood moonstone and not his dead wife and he had no idea....until he finally opens his eyes later on but it's too late he's been consumed by what's manipulated him and it's left a permanent scar onto him he doesn't think he'll be able to redeem himself from.....grins so hard my teeth fall out

narae has hall of fame by jeff rosenstock. he has a specific brainrot that causes him to think everyone is out to get him and he needs to constantly be proving himself. he needs to be the one on top at all times etc etc he needs to be competitive until he dies

26. What’s your favorite relationship/dynamic between a set of OCs?

IDK IF YOU CAN TELL BUT IM A BIG FAN OF DUBIOUSLY ONE-SIDED FRIENDSHIPS. i love it when some guy is so sure he is this other guy's best friend but that other guy wants him to die so so so badly. and the other guy refuses to admit that the only reason he hasnt beat the other guy into a pulp is because that guy genuinely makes his life a little better. this is the julian + eva dynamic and it is also the dynamic between buggy and skuggy the alternate universe besties / twins . also the dynamic between salamander and narae...i just really like it ok.
