This is after... Well, basically everything. This occurs RIGHT AFTER Sonic Forces (which is the conclusion of the whole AU)

Shadow and Sonic are both physically weak due to their fights against Infinite and Eggman (Shadow used his full power uninhibited, and Sonic used the Phantom Ruby)

So Sonic and Shadow become roomies for a bit to kinda take care of each other, since all their other friends play big roles in the Restoration.
