Commonly Asked Questions.
I get asked the same 3-5 questions all the time, so I thought I might make this new lil pinned post to help everyone out! But first, I want to thank you all for visiting my blog!
Do you take requests?
No, I do not.
Are your commission open?
Yes currently! Honestly now a days theyâre almost always open. You can check them out on my website HERE!
Are you okay with gift art?
Of course! I would be flattered! If youâd like, you can find most of my characters here on toyhouse (I promise to update it soon!)!
How do you get the retro/vhs effects on your art?
I actually made a tutorial on that here! But honestly at the end of the day itâs a lot of âI plug this picture into several different apps and video editing software.â I wish I could give you a simple answer, but there is no easy way to do it thatâs the same every time. I rarely if ever do it the same way back to back. Some colors look better when edited in Photoshop, some in Photomosh Pro. I pay almost $100 a month to have access to all of the software I use to make these effects because itâs part of my job. But luckily you can find so many free tutorials and apps out there, you just need to be curious and try new things!
What do you use to draw?
Another vague answer whoo! Sorry, but I use so many things to draw! But usually itâs sketch/ink/color/shade in Paint Tool Sai, and then move it to Photoshop to add the background, effects and details. I also use Procreate and Clip Studio from time to time. When it comes to traditional, itâs usually standard cardstock or a mixed media sketchbook. Then I draw and color with microns, copic pens, jelly rollers/gel pens, prisma colored markers and copic markers.Â
Did you draw the backgrounds in your art? And if you use screenshots, where do you get them?
In the majority of my pictures, I use screenshots from old cartoons. I get these screenshots from the shows themselves. My friend is kind enough to set up a program that takes snapshots hundreds of times during the show. Then when the episode is over, they send them to me. I then spend HOURS, going through thousands of images and delete all but the good pieces. A majority of the time they take a lot of editing to be usable. I have to clean them up, remove character and scale the images.
This isnât always the case however! I do often draw my own backgrounds! If you ever want to know, feel free to ask!
As for the more aesthetic/abstract backgrounds, I make those myself! I spent far too much money buying licenses and rights to use tons of different patterns and vectors. With those, I love recreating authentic backgrounds in the style of those seen in the 80s and 90s!
I see you draw a lot of Transformation/Chubby/(insert common movie trope here). Are you a fetish artist?
No, I am not a fetish artist. Do I draw art that might be someoneâs fetish? Do I take commissions from people with a fetish for this subject matter? Yes, of course. But people need to realize, furry characters alone are a kink to some people. For me the difference is in how itâs drawn. And I personally do not draw my art in a way that sexualizes the piece.
I love drawing transformation scenes, people being swallowed by a monster, extra big tummies, but not because itâs something that I find hot. I just like drawing fun scenes. I get bored of just drawing a character standing in place all the time. I like drawing wacky scenes!Â
A lot of my love for these come from cartoons. Edmund getting turned into a cat in Rock a Doodle. Hercules getting swallowed by the hydra. Kaa hypnotizing... everyone xD Itâs just a story telling tool and sometimes itâs fun to draw! Iâm not into hypno but I do like drawing big, colorful eyes. Iâm just whatever about tf but I love drawing the swirling magic effects and the character changing from human to animal. Itâs just cool to me!
In short, when I draw these things, itâs like I get to draw scenes from cartoons and movies in my style. Itâs so wonderful to attempt to emulate some of the effects and details they used in movies from my childhood. Itâs not about the hand changing into a paw for me, itâs the magical sparkles and how itâs so bright and vibrant compared to everything else. Where you see it go from hand to paw, thatâs what I love drawing about tf art! Or being able to exaggerate the body and make a character look weighty by making them really round. Getting to draw a comically big mouth, giving a fun and interesting perspective shot. I think that stuff is so neat! Because itâs art!
I donât care if it is someoneâs fetish. Iâm not drawing it in a way thatâs sexual. Heck, it even says I wont in my TOS! Everything is G-PG here in Sundayâs Playzone! Iâm not here to make that kind of content. Itâs okay if adults have fetishes, and so long as you and others arenât sexualizing my art, all is well!

đđ§đż :3
đ ⢠how did you get into writing fanfiction? oohhh unofficially when I was really young I was SUPER into Discworld (obviously) and also Redwall, which I had been into on a special interest level for many many years. my first technical fanfiction was hand-written in a reporter's notebook, and it was a Redwall-Discworld crossover with Teatime from Hogfather in Redwall, teaming up with the foxes from Marlfox lmao. I was super into the Redwall villains in general and super into Teatime, so yeah. I can't tell you a thing about it, but that was it!
đ§ ⢠share some personal lore you never posted about before personal lore!! let me thinkkkk đ¤ I used to be a moderator on the RPG (rping basically) board of one of the big Pokemon forums back in the day - Pokemasters! I modded that place for years, and I spent so much of my teen and older life on there, met some really good friends, some of whom I've met irl a bunch of times - including one time at MCM Expo in London where we all laid in a pile on the hotel bed and recited the entire pokedex one after the other.... nerrrdssss eheh.
We had SO much drama on that forum tho, holy shit. One time, one of the mods got hacked and the hacker went through and deleted whole long threads one by one across any boards she had mod privileges in, so I had to spend HOURS in first year of uni helping to restore them all, it was hell.
đż ⢠give some advice on writer's block and low creativity My usual method for writer's block is honestly brainstorming or shooting the shit with friends! I take inspiration from a lot of things like music, random art pieces, random ass thoughts and those all help as well. Also about 70% of the time if I'm blocked on a scene, it often means it's come to a natural end and when I use my "skip the damn scene already!!!" method, it fixes it all!
I feel like for low creativity, it's good to;
a) let yourself have space from creating to let yourself get the energy back (think of that metaphor of farmers letting fields go to fallow between seasons)
b) experience creative things in other ways, such as reading books, watching films, playing video games etc. - just soaking up other art forms can be really helpful for your creative brain! If you can manage it, try to think about what it is that draws you to that thing, about how you could recreate that in your own works. If you're a writer, use it as a free-writing exercise with no pressure whatsoever, just noodling around
c) maybe try pick up a creative hobby in a different discipline than you're used to working in - it helps to stretch your brain and work different creative muscles if you feel like you want to! Being into multiple creative hobbies is one of my own most helpful things, because I always want to create things, and it gives me variety
d) but the most important: try to forgive yourself! Don't pressure yourself or feel guilty for it, everyone goes through the same thing at multiple points in their life. You've gotta be nice to yourself, don't rush things - they say creativity is like a muscle, you gotta let it rest if it's strained or injured, you know? You wouldn't be mean to someone with an injury, so think of it in a similar way.

Sorry for spamming your notifs I was just wondering if you have any lineart/ coloring tips!
Im trying to improve my art and your style is perfect!!!
A joy you'd ask such an extensive question: I recorded a quick timelapse (Sorry I don't control the speed on Clip Studio)
I draw with vector layers for line art, meaning I can erase overlapping lines SUPER easy with a Vector eraser:
To make them not highlighted in orange btw (For CSP specifically) I believe you gotta go into "View" and "turn off vector paths".
I usually have a layer behind the characters that is "Grey" so I know where I've colored until I change it to black with protect Alpha.
In GENREAL advice I'd give: Do "Figure drawings" I think they're called. VERY QUICK rough sketches to get a figure/pose down. I draw like a speed demon because I don't focus on "Getting lines perfect" either. Paper is a less forgiving medium, when I was a kid (And even now) i sketch on paper with Pen. NO MISTAKES. WE DIE LIKE MEN. It makes you think a lot more about "How am I gonna do this right the first time" Basically: Your boy is quick, he likes to do it in 1 go and art style is pretty simple. Affective for making comics FAST. Which is what I care about since my stories/dialogue are kinda the highlight not the pictures, they just take my stuff to THE NEXT LEVEL. :)
Lately I've been trying to "Care less" about getting perfect clean line art (Tbh I think I've always cared a little less because SOME PEOPLE SPEND 8 HOURS ON A DRAWING AND HALF THE TIME THEY SPENT WAS ERASING SHIT. I COULD NOT. O.O)
The need for speed is because I need to make so many pages for all my comics in a timely manor.
Looking at AOT's butt ugly art and Chainsaw man's beautiful scratchy lines made me realize I was being way to uptight about my own shit looking "Perfect". So I've tried to be more fluid with it.
Speaking of: I recommend anyone who likes manga to try to mimic some art styles to learn stuff. "Why'd they do xy or z" "How'd they achieve x" ya know? Here's two of my avatars from my zelda videos (OOT is still in progress)
But it also depends on what you're TRYING to go for:
I don't WANT/NEED a consistent art style. I mostly just do whatever I feel fits whatever I'm working on. "On model" isn't in my vocabulary. X'D
I recommend studying anatomy because it REALLY amped up my abilities to draw the human body better. Full figure drawings, don't run away from things you might be bad at. X'D (Or work with what you do, I am shit at drawing hands, so they'll turn into weird monstrosities but nobody's said anything yet! XD)
People are seemingly willing to forgive a lot of mistakes: If it's funny. X'D I gotta try harder in serious scenes hahaha. Also having weird as fuck/abstract character design like my boys Ball and Bat
You're not gonna question anatomy choices for a thing that looks like THAT.
Simple character design is my passion~
For coloring: Outside of me understanding basic color theory I just do what makes my brain go BRRR so I can't really DESCRIBE why I like what I like? X'D
But here's some of my color palettes! I implore anyone to use them if they like them. They're not some trade secret, they're just colors.
Anyways that's all I got hope it helps. XD

ă â ă  ââ ËËË SIMPLE AS THAT !
SATURDAY VOLUNTEERING.
Another week has gone and went and Taeha finds herself pushing past the youth center's doors and greeting staff with a bright grin. She's come to enjoy her hours volunteering with the children - though, her preference for certain groups had been all too clear. She would much rather have a morning of play with the younger children, than a morning spent tutoring ( even if she'd never voice it aloud ).
At the very least her sessions have gone much smoother as of late. She's remembered a bit about each child she's been assigned, from their learning style to the teacher that annoyed them the most. Even some of the questions seemed a lot simpler after the first week - ...and a bit of reviewing on her own ( if someone would've told her she'd be spending Friday nights pre-studying for a study session of things she should've mastered years ago, she'd laugh herself into tears! ). For some students, she found herself in awe at their drive and confidence, reaching towards big goals in their ideal futures one worksheet at a time. And for others... those visions only seemed to grow cloudier by the day.
Yoon Eunkyung is quieter than the rest, shuffling into the study room without so much as a hello to the aide that hovers over the students as they work. The two have only been paired twice since Taeha's begun to volunteer, and she can probably count the number of words she's said on one hand... "Let's try it a different way!" Taeha nods, sliding her laptop closer to the student at her side. The worksheet between them is relatively empty, save for a few doodles and a poorly erased attempt to answer a formula question. "Sometimes reading through an example isn't as helpful as watching someone explain it step by step! I think you'll like this tutor, she always -"
Eunkyung shakes her head. 'It's too hard.'
"I know some things seem hard at first, but if we break the problem down into - " Another shake of her head until its nestled into her arms on the table. 'It's too hard. I'm just stupid!' Taeha glances over her shoulder, shooting the teacher's aide a pleading look, but she's far too busy assisting with the school supply closet.
She sighs, folding her arms onto the table and resting her chin on them as well. The scene is all too familiar... "Eunkyung is not stupid! She is very smart and you should be nicer to her." The girl peeks at her from behind the cover of her fingers. 'You're a liar.'
"What?! I am not!" Taeha pouts. "You are smart! I would know!"
'How?' she fires back, sitting up a bit. 'Just because you're a grown up doesn't mean you know everything. You didn't even know how to do it last time...'
Taeha blinks for a moment. Am I st - ?! She waves off the thought. "No! Not because I'm a grown up! I just do! ...Some people are different kinds of smart." She points to the doodle in the far corner. "You drew this? This bird? It almost looks like its about to fly off of the page! You must be... art smart. And math smart. You got stuck on this question, but last time you answered all the geometry questions in no time. It is okay to not be good at everything at first... But that is why, we try, and try again!"
Eunkyung crosses her arms over her chest, still a bit stubborn in her resolve. 'What kind of smart are you then?'
"Ah... Well - Dance smart. Singing smart -" she adds in a sing-song voice. "And... silly smart!" She leans in a bit, crossing her eyes as she does so.
'That's not a type of smart!'
"It is! You're silly smart too and you just don't know it yet!" And in that moment, though Taeha isn't quite too sure, she thinks she spies the smallest of smiles flash across Eunkyung's features.
"There are many types of smart... But I already know you are math smart. So... Let's watch the video and try again. What do you say? Then after... Maybe we can draw for a bit? Like a reward!"
Though Eunkyung only nods in response, she inches a tad bit closer, adjusting her glasses as she watches the tutor on screen scribble on the board. She finally reaches for her pencil again and Taeha raises both fists. "Eunkyung, Fighting!"
'...Be more quiet smart, please.'
"A-ah, okay! Sorry!"

[WIP]June 2023 report (6P n 3000+ words story x 2)
[Reward] https://wingr.fanbox.cc/posts/6124990 https://subscribestar.adult/posts/924349 https://discord.com/channels/725318162207473764/725338105606832162/1116298882889035858
Sorry for keep no updates. No Chinese text for this long report... I don't want to spent 1 more hour for just reporting. As many task go to around 50% done and then switch. This make every tasks not completed.
1) Konte
Weekend drawing and I forget push stream for picarto OTL
I resume this long long time ago commission. The final picture is almost done. And I also repaint the first one This one. I want to draw an new picture for June Bride.
2) KKS
I said there is some animation going to release. But... yet. not finished yet
Head fuck > This one 90% done. If I don't arrange the background it's 100% done. But just very simple 5s anime. Eating > suck at eat scene. I just tried the boobs tearing Bronya Boobs plays > This is boobs play test purpose. It supposed to tear off her boobs in final. But the tearing one on hold
For doing these. I make many unused things... First I need to low down the loading. Silmeria cards now has Overlay skin < original ; but cut all alt clothes out to reduce file size Overlay but no head < remove all head custom texture. This use for the headless body. Without overlay headless body < Supposed for sliced arms and leg usage. Without any custom texture. Card size from 8mb to 300kb
Do all this file size reduce. My timeline animation from 88mb reduce to 25mb. The main purpose is trying low down the PC usage.
Imagine if you use a 100mb character card. You copy it and sliced into head, upper body, lower body, arms, legs That is 7 char actually. This scene file at least 700mb. I guess if your PC not good enough. You would crash it while you save.
So... make a lite ver. is impossible OTL. Especially in a not really stable KKS studio.
And about KKS.
Recently I import some template video as background.
You can view the WIP and Boobs coordinate at Patron Discord WIP has 3 picture 1 > first trial for the template video background 2 > Roasted girl for the eating scene 3 > mating scene as another template
Mating scene is just... I suddenly want to build mating meat scene. Try to make her face as meat as possible.
Boobs coordinate... I remove the meat. even I put meat into it. Every size boobs make the meat in wrong position. For this coordinate. The format is Left Right side boobs set Nipple cut and no nipple boob Boob cut in half ; no nipple boob cut in half Nipple cut in half
So that is 8 x 2 (left and right) files.
Suppose for building the eating boobs animation. So I need to make the boobs in few pieces. And this is why character card lite ver. is important.
And... for doing this scene. I also try to find some MMD motion. That spent 1-2 days too. But unluckily these 2 days are wasted. Found nothing good...
3) KKS story writing
The 3rd story writing for the scene. Chinese ver. is done. But English is not done yet.
This is for the mother's day Silmeria execution story.
I build the similar story long ago. This time I try to finish it.
The story is about. 1) Introduction, let you know the boy and Silmeria setting 2) memory of boy fuck with his mother (above 2 would be text only. I won't build any picture for these 2 scene. And this is why I write story. If I build every scene. Just liked this mother day content. It originally is around 2020 or 2021...) 3) hanging his mother and cut her head 4) boy and her fans eat Silmeria
The story is base to pervious 2 animation.
I would write English ver. in future. But yea... on hold. This is why every content is 50% done only. You can try to use translate tool if you really hurry.
4) Moiji story writing (and Celia Cumani Aintree n Kashima)
This is before KKS writing. And this is the reason why I started write story.
I release more detail on pevious post
https://www.fanbox.cc/@wingr/posts/6073635
5) Clalaclan hanging remaster
This is Monday (5th June) Picarto streaming work.
I resume this one again. I took down it from my pixiv as uncensorship.
The remaster one... This is flow
1) repaint 2) add some expression (not base on old one... old expression can't use anymore, so need to build new) 3) SFW for full dress ver (maybe pixiv publishment I would post an non naked hanging) 4) story again
This is the 4th story I build. Chinese ver. is finished too. Same as pervious. If you hurry, please use translated tool to read.
The story is about 1) Short intro Princess Clalaclan got capture 2) Rape her. Princess defloration. (these 2 are text only too) 3) Hanging her 4) Eat her
For the picture. The main part is hanging. For now I extended. There would be 1) Before Hanging 2) Hanged 3) KK variant, tongue out, erect nipples, pissing 4) Show her death Naked hanging would be variant (story is not naked. So this is optional. Maybe there is another optional for standing severed head)
Eat her scene I would use AI for the body. This would just similar to the Blonde one I released. Naked posed > Roasted > Boobs sliced > remain head and bones only If you ask me, why AI. Why don't draw.
Aww... you see this post already. Do you think this report list is damn long? If I draw it. It would make the list even longer than now.
6) Nipple Sushi
/artworks/108761144
This one won't has patron content. This is sub product from KKS eating scene. I build nipples mask. So... it can be nipples sushi. So I make that and publish it as last week pixiv publishment.
Maybe I would use this in future.
7) [Manga] St. O'Niku College Open Day P7
I draw half or it (mean lineart)
See this on Patron Discord WIP too
But yea... this series page view is eating shit. That make me hesitate... Do I need to put time on this content which nobody wanted. So Hold again.
...
And PSO2 day boost lol. Man, I also need to have gaming rest.
Yea... many content are building. But none of it fully finished. This is why I can't make an new post.
If you ask where is these set Nanoha and Fate God Kiana Cooking Valkrie of Himeko
All these are on hold.
For the Himeko one. This one I suppose is a quick work only. The reuse of roast valkyrie. Instead of Kiana family. https://redwing2000.tumblr.com/post/697973931350638592/
This time is Himeko family. Cook her students and cook herself.
But ... it has been while already. So I hold it again.

Oh, love
Summary: It takes a year of trial and error, of love and heartbreak, for the two to finally realize there's no one else they'd rather be with. Or in which she becomes they're photographer for a summer tour and falls in love with the dark haired drummer.
Word Count: 10.3k
Warnings: swearing, angst, sexual content
A/N: I just want to say a huge thank you to @ethanesimp for proofreading and hyping this fic up, thank you so much amore! This is the first piece I've written for any of the members of maneskin, and also the longest thing I've ever written! Feedback is greatly appreciated!
January
Itâs a call in the middle of the day that begins it all. Sheâs been in a shoot all morning, running around snapping photos of a wanna-be teen idol. Sheâs been here many times, being hired to do promo shots for someone who never makes it farther than this. But this call, she knows itâs different. Sheâs heard the name, seen some videos, she knows this wonât be like the rest. Sheâs instructed to clear her schedule for the week and to be in Rome by the end of the day.
The cold air hits her as she leaves the building, suitcase and camera bag in hand. This is the moment sheâs been waiting for since joining the company, the chance to become a permanent fixture instead of hopping from gig to gig. Sheâs told that they requested her specifically, that one of the band members saw her collection from a festival last summer and was dead set on booking her for their summer tour. Itâs all new to her, the feeling of being the first choice and not second best. She barely hears anything thatâs said on the plane by their manager, too busy trying not to freak out.
Itâs only a few hours plane ride, but it feels like a lifetime. Thoughts run wild in her head as the seconds tick by, she canât remember the last time sheâd been this excited, or nervous, for something. Sheâs greeted by more people from their team as she steps off the plane, and is quickly ushered to the villa theyâve been staying in. She barely has time to process the beautiful new city sheâs in before sheâs hidden by walls of an even more beautiful place.
They give her time to relax and unpack, but clear instructions to not leave the property without security. Things have been crazy, sheâs told, since their winning last year fans have become more clever with their tactics. She laughs at some of the stories, but heeds the warning all the same. Sheâs seen quite a few things that have shaken her to her core, so she knows to be careful and wary.
Music floats through the halls and into her room, the band practicing on the other side of the villa. The music fills her veins with a feeling she canât quite place, but itâs a welcome humming that gets her blood pumping. She grabs her camera and follows the melodies, laughing at the jokes thrown around in english whenever someone messes up. She angles herself behind a corner just right where she can take pictures while still being hidden from the band.
Her heart races at the scene in front of her. Itâs a family like sheâs never seen. They all seem to orbit around each other, pushing and pulling each other into their atmospheres. She watches Victoria dance around the room, bass in hand, strumming the lines to an old song. Thomas lays on the floor with a notebook reading off words, Damiano repeating them as he draws on eyeliner. And Ethan, who sits at his drum set, twirling the drumsticks in his hand as he observes the scene before him.
She captures picture after picture of their dynamic, taking the most of Ethan, who seems to have a magnetic pull to him. She only pulls herself from the moment when sheâs spotted. âSai, qualcuno chiamerebbe questo strano comportamento.â
The words are warm against her ear, and she jumps at the unexpected presence. She turns around, laughing to hide her embarrassment, trying to translate the words in her head. She freezes when she sees itâs Ethan, trying to figure out when he slipped away from the rest of the group.
âAh, niente italiano. Er, itâs unusual, what you are doing.â
Another nervous laugh leaves her lips, âSorry. I didnât mean to be creepy. Thereâs something about the way the group is when no one is watching, itâs hard to ignore, it needed to be captured.â
He smiles at that. Itâs soft and warm and she feels as if the world has stopped spinning. A song plays between their hearts as a silence falls over them. Thereâs a beauty about him that makes it hard to focus on anything but him.
A series of crashes followed by loud curses in Italian breaks the spell that they were under and Ethan pulls himself away from her to go and manage his friends. She uses this moment as an excuse to slip away and tour the rest of the house, ending in the kitchen where dinner is being prepared. She snaps a few photos of the chefs cooking, already envisioning the blog post theyâll go along with.
When everyone has made their way to the dining room a toast is made; to new adventures, to new friends, and to family. Sweet wine and light rain makes the time pass faster and the evening flows into night easily. The group parts only moments after midnight, long days ahead calling them to catch up on sleep now.
The month flows by with days and nights blurring together. It seems the studio is really the only place they call home, spending every waking moment in the room that houses their instruments. She stays with them through the long hours, snapping photos of the weird things they get themselves up to. Her hard drive slowly fills with collections of each band member, ones for the public eye and ones she sends to them to make them laugh.
The end of the month brings a party, something small to celebrate sold out tour dates. A night out to a local bar and far too many drinks. She dances with Victoria, who has become her best friend in the few weeks sheâs been with them. Damiano and his girlfriend are not far away, but much more caught up in their own world. Thomas has disappeared somewhere, no doubt warming someone's bed for the night. But through all the commotion, she canât stop watching Ethan.
Heâs sitting at a table nursing the only drink heâs had that night, planning to take on the role of babysitter at the end of the night once everyones had too much to drink. He drums his fingers on the table, following the beat of each song that plays. He seems lost in his own world, content with being by himself. She moves away from Victoria, who easily finds another partner, and makes her way to the table.
âSembri solo,â the words fall from her lips quietly as she takes a seat beside him.
He smiles at her, âSeems your little lessons are paying off.â
She blushes at that, not realizing heâd picked up on her daily lessons with their English tutor. âOnly enough to not seem like a tourist.â
A small chuckle escapes his lips, and she wishes she could bottle the sound.
âBut donât change the subject. Tonight was about having fun, celebrating a big accomplishment. Yet youâre sitting here alone.â
He sighs at her insistence, âSometimes we donât need to celebrate everything so publicly.â
Something pulls at her heart. She canât imagine having such a public life, but she understands how it must feel to never have anything to yourself. Before she knows what sheâs doing, she places a hand on his arm and gives it a reassuring squeeze, a light tingle shooting between the two of them.
She pulls her hand away quickly, a small blush forming on both their cheeks. He offers her a small smile to make the moment less awkward, and she returns it.
The night ends not too much later, the rest of the crew having decided that warm beds would be much more comfortable than the crowded bar. She helps Ethan herd their friends home, laughing along with him at their drunken antics. Victoria jokingly calls them mom and dad as they help her to bed, and the blush that was plastered on her face earlier that night makes a second appearance.
Itâs almost morning by the time she makes it to her own room. Ethan isnât far behind her, realizing for the first time tonight that they share the same hallway. âBuona notte,â comes his voice from down the hall.
She turns to face him, catching herself stuck in his stare. She canât quite place the look in his eyes, but it gives her butterflies all the same.
âBuona notte.â
February
February brings more time in the studio and less time outside the walls of the Villa. While winter in Rome is not like the ones youâd experience in colder places, it still brings a chill to her bones. She steals one of Victoria's sweaters after a night spent lounging under the stars, a small break from a busy schedule.
A fire had been lit and a bottle of sweet wine was making its way around the group. Sheâd set her camera aside for the evening, planning on enjoying a night without the calls of work. She doesnât know when it happens, but suddenly sheâs swaying to a drunken beat in the arms of Damiano who canât stop giggling at her two left feet. The man had not believed her when she said she couldnât dance, but was now biting his tongue as they moved around the courtyard.
As the night seemed to come to a lull, a game of truth or dare was proposed and all were in agreement. She finds herself sitting beside Thomas on the floor as Victoria begins the game, a stupid dare aimed towards Damiano that earns him a new haircut. The night drags on in a flurry of laughter and silly dares. By midnight half the group is wearing someone elseâs clothes, and the others have barely any on.
Sheâs moved to be sitting by Ethan, who has an arm casually draped across her shoulder. It shouldnât feel so electric, his skin touching hers, but it does and itâs the only thing she can focus on. Her heart feels like itâs almost beating out of her chest and the blush on her face isnât caused by the alcohol in her system.
Damiano is the first to notice her situation, and starts poking fun at her whenever it was his turn to ask her something. It started off innocent enough, small questions aimed towards her love life, but it soon caught the attention of Thomas who was the first one to issue a dare towards the girl. This was how sheâd ended up sitting beside Ethan, cuddled into his side. Ethan was oblivious to the things going on around them, until Victoria dared her to kiss him.
It seems as though time stops, the laughter fades and the silence becomes deafening. She turns towards Ethan, a mixture of panic and excitement painted on her face. He smiles at her, âWe donât have to, amore.â
âA dares a dare.â She shrugs at him.
A round of cheers raises up around them as the two lean in. Itâs meant to be only a small peck, something good enough to count in the eyes of those around them. But as she goes to pull away his hand reaches up to tangle in her hair and he pulls her closer. Their lips meet again without any hesitation and itâs like the world lights up around them. Blame it on the alcohol, but if she were to die right now sheâd be happy.
They pull away a second later, a small laugh leaving both of them, chests rising at an unsteady rhythm.
âAwe, theyâre blushing! How cute!â Comes the voice of Damiano, further pulling a blush from the girl.
She grabs one of the pillows beside her and aims it at his head, laughing when she misses terribly.
The night fades into morning and they all climb to the roof to watch the sunrise. Itâs a moment she wants tattooed in her memories forever. Sheâs got her arms wrapped around Victoria and the three boys huddle around them, alcohol still flows through their veins and theyâre all singing different versions of the same song.
March
The beginning of spring in Rome is magical. Flowers start to bloom, mornings are coated in a light dusting of rain, and clothing starts to become less of a necessity. She takes photos of the band trapezing the streets. The Villa studio has become too familiar, moving instead to a studio in the city.
By now, a routine has been put in place. Mornings sipping coffee and eating fresh pastries while she laughs at the varying states of wake the band is in. Afternoons in the studio, recording their new album while she collects photos and videos for their âmaking ofâ. Evenings spent in restaurants and bars, eating some of the best food sheâs ever had, and she swears sheâll never eat anything better.
Sheâs never fallen in love with a city like this before. Maybe itâs the city, or maybe itâs the people sheâs with, but she swears she never wants to leave. It suffocates her in the best way possible, the feeling of being home. She hopes that when the tours over and her contracts up, that sheâll move here, maybe even keep these people sheâs grown so close to in the past few months.
Sheâs thrown out of the daydream by Thomas yelling at her in a mix of italian and english for not paying attention. Itâs the middle of the afternoon, theyâve taken a lunch break at a restaurant down the block, and Thomas is expressively telling a story. His hands are in the air and heâs almost knocked his wine glass over too many times to count.
Damiano sits across from her, fiddling with her camera, snapping his own photos that he presents to her proudly. She laughs at every one, but never discourages his actions. Victoria is on her left, Ethan on her right, both vying for her approval as they argue over something. Sheâs overwhelmed by the different directions her brain is being tugged, but the hand that snakes its way into hers calms her.
She looks down to see Ethan rubbing his thumb along the back of her hand, a soft smile grazing his lips as they make eye contact. She returns it, whispering a small thank you to the boy.
That night, she lays in bed, in the room sheâs begun to finally call hers, thinking of the boy with stars in his eyes. She doesnât know if itâs feeling like she finally belongs somewhere, or the wine that still coats her veins, but thereâs something about him that she wishes she could become a part of. She wants to wrap herself in it and never leave. Sheâs falling for him, hard. Vaffanculo.
April
It is Victoria's birthday and everyone has decided that she must be princess for the day. Ethan and Damiano have been up since dawn making an extravagant breakfast, something that should be put in a five star restaurant. Her and Thomas had disappeared shortly after waking, returning with a stack of presents that was almost as tall as him, and the best bouquet of flowers she could find.
After decorating the patio with anything and everything they could find, it was a mad dash to Victoria's room to wake her up. She protested, claiming that sleep was more important than being awake, but at the mention of presents she was the first one out of the room.
It was a morning of happiness, and a much needed break from their hectic schedule. She recorded the entire day, from the dramatic wake up call to the celebratory sparklers that were set off that night, it was all captured.
After breakfast the princess requested a trip to the beach, and no one would dare refuse her. They found something private, a little hidden oasis an hour's drive from the villa. They spend hours there, switching between swimming and laying in the sun. She finds herself alone on the sand with Ethan at one point, watching the others like proud parents.
She tries not to think about how close his body feels to her, how she can feel the heat his body is radiating seeping into her, the smell of his body wash. Heâs invading all of her senses and sheâs trying so hard to focus on anything but him. âLetâs go on a walk?â
His voice is warm as the question escapes his lips. She turns to look at him and sheâs thankful to be able to blame the sun for the blush on her cheeks. She nods and gets up to follow him, brushing off the sand thatâs clinging to her bathing suit and wrapping a towel around her shoulders.
They disappear down the beach, walking side by side, a comfortable silence enveloping them. Itâs not till theyâre halfway down the beach that either of them speaks. âAre you enjoying your time?â
She doesnât miss the hint of worry that laces his voice, and sheâs quick to reassure him that she is. âYes, very much. This is probably the best job Iâve had in years.â
He softly chuckles at her words, âGood. Good. Weâre trying to make you feel like one of us, donât want you running away.â
Sheâs grateful for the confession, glad that they donât see her as just another person that works for them. âDonât worry, Iâm not going anywhere anytime soon.â
He bumps her shoulder with his, a small smile forming on his face, âYeah?â
âYeah.â
They head back to the group soon after, realizing theyâve let the day slip away and need to leave soon if they want to make their dinner reservations.
A small vineyard hidden in the valley, theyâve booked the place so itâs just them, and ordered every bottle of wine on the menu to taste. They laugh away the night, enjoying plates of delicious food and letting their minds wander. A gorgeous cake is brought out at the end, half of which ends up destroyed thanks to an impromptu food fight. More presents are opened and Victoria starts tearing up, blubbering about how much she loves the idiots sheâs surrounded with.
They walk through the dark streets of Rome, singing happy birthday loudly in every language they know. Itâs unusually cold, but sheâs somehow been wrapped in Ethanâs jacket, his arm slung over her shoulder. Sheâs holding Vicâs hand, Damiano and Thomas taking turns with her camera.
The air surrounding them is electrified, she looks up into the sky and thanks the stars for the life sheâs living.
May
The summer tour is fast approaching, and nerves are starting to set in. The already high energy group somehow is bouncing off the walls even more, making for an interesting collection of photos. Nerves are starting to get the better of them, and she often finds one of them wandering around the Villa at odd hours of the night. Sheâs good at being able to channel her nerves into something else, focusing all of the energy on a new project.
One night though, it gets the better of her. She tosses and turns in her bed for hours before she decides that sleep isnât coming. Instead of lying in bed willing her brain to shut off, she throws on a pair of shoes and heads for the front door, thinking a walk in the warm spring air will do her some good. What she doesnât expect to find is Ethan sitting out on the terrace, cigarette in one hand and a book in the other, lost in his own world.
She doesnât mean to catch his attention, hoping to allow him this little bit of uninterrupted peace, but he spots her anyway. âBuona serata,â He rasps, voice laced with the quietness of the night.
âBuona serata, Ethan.â She returns the greeting.
He motions for her to sit down in the chair beside him, closing the book and placing it on the table. âWhatâs troubling your mind tonight?â
Sheâs not used to the way someone can read her so well, but thereâs something about Ethan that brings her comfort in the fact that he can. âNerves, I guess. Iâve never done a gig this big, never spent so much time with one group. Iâm used to being moved around a lot, still getting used to being a permanent fixture I guess.â
The words are heavy on her tongue, never having voiced her worries out loud before. He takes a long drag of the cigarette hanging from his lips, âLa vita ci dĂ solo ciò che sa che possiamo gestire.â
âSome would think you were a poet in a past life.â
A small laugh escapes his lips, and he shakes his head. A comfortable silence falls over them and she wishes she could bottle this feeling to keep with her forever. He turns to look at her, and itâs hard to put into words the feeling that washes over him. Heâs not sure where it comes from, the urge to kiss her, but it sends him spiralling.
He reaches his hand up to brush a few strands of hair out of her face, âLe stelle brillano piĂš luminose nei tuoi occhi, amore.â
The words and his actions cause her heart to raise and her breath to hitch. Theyâre close now, the closest theyâve been since that night in February, and all she can think about is that kiss that they shared.
Neither knows who leaned in first, but suddenly their lips are touching and it is everything and nothing like they remembered. While the other kiss had been hesitant and brief, this one was full of purpose. Their noses brush and their breaths tangle together, he bits her lip for a moment and a small moan escapes her. He swears itâs the best sound heâs ever heard.
He grabs at her hips, lifting her from the chair and placing her so sheâs straddling his lap. She tangles her fingers in his hair and tugs softly, earning a groan from the man. The sound sends shockwaves through her and she rocks her hips against his almost involuntarily. His lips move from hers to the side of her neck, pulling small whimpers from her as he nips and sucks at the skin. Itâs everything sheâs ever imagined and more. The feeling of his body pressed to hers, the pleasure he can so easily give to her.
She moves her hands down to fumble with the hem of his shirt and thatâs when he pulls away. âWhile I would normally love to do that here, how about we continue this somewhere more private?â
She nods eagerly and removes herself from his lap. He all but drags her inside the villa and towards his room. She trips over her own feet and they both laugh at her clumsiness, falling into each other as he tries to catch her but trips over his own feet in turn. He leans in to kiss her again as their bodies collide, this one sweeter and softer than the previous one.
The moment passes quickly and soon sheâs being dragged through the halls again, only to be met with a half asleep Damiano standing in the doorway of his room. They stop in their tracks, jumping apart, trying to act like nothing was happening. âItâs rude to have a party and not invite everyone, you know.â
She lets out a breath she didnât know she was holding, glad that he didnât know what had been happening moments prior. Ethan is quick to explain that they were just having a cup of tea on the terrace and were now heading to bed, and thankfully the lie is believed. Damiano wishes them a goodnight, heading back into his room, and the two are left in silence in the hallway.
âMaybe we should go to bed,â he whispers to her.
Her heart sinks, but she nods her head in agreement and turns to walk back down the hall to her room. Sheâs not really sure how the night was going to end, but this was definitely not how she wanted it to; walking in silence next to someone her heart aches for, pretending that nothing had happened between them.
He walks her up to her door, still ever the gentleman, and places a gentle kiss on her cheek. âBuona notte, amore.â
The words should not sound as sad as they do, and she tries her hardest to keep the tears welling up in her eyes at bay as she watches him turn and walk away.
June
How do you go back to being just friends after making out with someone? Well, you donât. At least, not fully. They dance around each other without knowing it, avoiding any contact that could lead to something more or allude to something else, but there are still moments where the world seems to slip away and itâs just the two of them.
The tour kicks off at a festival in Amsterdam. Blue skies and sunny days greet them as they get off the plane. They have a day to explore before their first show, and no one can decide how to spend it. In the end, Victoria drags Thomas off to do some shopping, Damiano plans a trip to a few museums with his girlfriend, and she is left with Ethan.
Sheâs not truly stuck with him, but she doesnât feel like wandering a forgein city all by herself. Since the night in the Villa, they havenât spent longer than a few minutes alone together, both refusing to acknowledge what had happened.
A trip to the beach seems like the best place to be, and within the hour sheâs lounging in the sun listening to Ethan read a book. Itâs peaceful, the sound of the waves and his voice lulling her into a half sleep. Sheâs got a drink in her hands, something sweet and fruity, and sheâs sharing a cigarette with Ethan. Itâs a scene she thinks one would find in a movie.
She rolls herself over so sheâs laying on her back, staring up at Ethan who sits beside her. She places her hand on his leg and traces random shapes into his skin. Goosebumps rise in the wake of her fingertips, and he tries to stay focused on the book in his hands but finds it hard to do so. âYou are very distracting, amore.â
She looks up at him innocently and she canât help but admire him. His hair is tucked away in a bun, but a few pieces have fallen out and are flying in the gentle breeze. Heâs only wearing a pair of swim trunks, broad chest on full display. He catches her roaming eyes as they make their way back to his face, a smirk slowly forming on his face. âOr maybe Iâm the one distracting you, no?â
She smiles shyly and looks away from him, because yes, he is distracting her, and sheâs finding it very hard to not kiss him right now. He chuckles at her, reaching his hand towards her face and turning it back towards him. He leans down towards her, âIâm going to kiss you now, okay?â
All she can do is nod, and a second later his lips are on hers. Itâs sweet and slow, she can taste the tobacco on his lips and itâs intoxicating. She moves so sheâs sitting up, leaning into him more, the world around them fading out until all that is left is them.
A few days later they find themselves in a hotel room in Munich. Thereâs music playing and everyoneâs laughing. Her camera hasnât left her hands all night, every moment needing to be captured as they ride the after show high.
Sheâs in the middle of recording Thomasâ one man act when a pair of arms wrap themselves around her waist. She knows exactly who it is by the scent that invades her nostrils and sends her brain into overdrive. She lets out a sudden, loud laugh, as his fingers trace themselves up and down her sides, collapsing into his chest as she struggles to breath.
He picks her up and spins her around, letting out an equally loud laugh at her protests. Heâs happy, and itâs something that looks better on him than any designer outfit he could ever buy.
He falls onto one of the beds, pulling her down with him. She lands beside him tangled in his arms, heâs looking at her with a goofy grin on his face. The world seems to silence around them as their eyes lock. Her smile softens and she reaches her hand over to brush an eyelash off his cheek, he catches her hand before she can pull it away and brings it to his lips, kissing it gently.
He looks ethereal in this moment, hair strewn all over the place, a wild look in his eyes. She reaches for her camera and brings it up to capture him, never wanting to forget this moment.
The streets of Prague are empty, save for the two of them walking hand in hand down them. Itâs early, almost too early to be considered an acceptable time to be awake, but they continue on nonetheless. A wild craving for something sweet had brought upon their adventure, and with the look she was giving him, he couldnât say no to accompanying her.
They had been sitting on the balcony of her hotel room, watching the sun starting to peak out over the horizon and sharing a cigarette when she had turned to him with a mischievous look in her eyes. âI want something sweet.â
The comment had earned her an offer to order room service, but she shakes her head at the idea, standing up and walking back into the room. âNo. Something real, maybe a coffee too.â
He follows her in, watching her pull on a shirt to cover the bralette she had been sitting in. âĂ presto, amore. Letâs go to bed. We can order something when the sun is awake also.â
She smiles at his words, but makes no move to stop dressing. She grabs her wallet and room key before heading to the door, stopping to turn and look at him, a question in her eyes.
âFine, Iâll come with you.â He says after a moment, throwing on his jacket and walking over to her.
Itâs 7:30 in the morning, the sun is starting to make itâs daily appearance, and they are happy. The small bakery they stumble into is just opening for the day and theyâre greeted by the owner, an older lady with the sweetest smile. She speaks in broken English, an obvious language barrier between the group of them, but no one seems to mind.
She orders herself a poppy strudel and a coffee, Ethan ordering a croissant and an espresso, before sitting down at one of the small tables. He sits beside her, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her into his side. He presses a soft kiss into the crown of her head and she sighs in content.
Moments like this are what she lives for. She might only be here because she works for them, but somewhere along the way sheâs become part of their little family. She looks over to Ethan whoâs lost in conversation with the owner, and she whispers to herself, âPenso di essermi innamorato di te.â
She doesnât know that he hears her, his smile spreading wider across his face.
July
The turnover from June to July happens mid concert in Stockholm. She swears she can feel it, the sudden shift, a slight change in the air. Sheâs running around in front of the stage capturing pictures of the band in what sheâs come to call their ânatural habitatâ. Thereâs an indescribable buzz in the air as they perform, the crowd becoming louder and louder with each song.
She keeps catching Ethans eye and thereâs something primal in the way he looks at her. During a song switch, while Damiano rambles to the crowd, he motions her on stage. He tells her to get closer to everyone, promising that they wonât bite, and she giggles at him. She does what he says nonetheless, capturing some up close photos of the band and a few great shots of the crowd.
All too soon the show is ending and everyoneâs piling into the car, a small party taking place in the backseat. Damiano has music blasting from his phone, Victoria and Thomas are dancing along to the beat, and Ethan is belting out the lyrics. She watches the group of them, laughing so hard her sides hurt, and sheâs never felt more at home.
When they get to the hotel heâs quick to pull her towards his room, thankfully void of a roommate for the night. The second they get into the room, his lips are on hers. He pulls her close to his body and her hands tangle themselves in his hair. Itâs nothing like any of their previous kisses, itâs heated and fast, every thought trying to be conveyed by the fever of it. She pulls back slightly to catch her breath and he leans in to whisper in her ear, âJoin me in the shower?â
Itâs not so much a question as a statement, but she nods her head eagerly, quick to follow him into the bathroom. He strips himself of the few clothes heâs wearing (most having been thrown off during the show), before turning to her. He reaches his arms out towards her, pulling her close to him and tugging on her shirt. She barely registers him pulling off her clothes, too focused on his body in front of her.
Sheâs never seen him so bare, and sheâs having a hard time focussing on anything else. Itâs not until her body hits the warm water that she snaps back to reality. He looks wild, eyes blown with lust, a wicked smile on his face. She firmly plants her lips on his, moaning into the kiss as he grabs at her. His hands are skilled and know every way to pull those delicious sounds from her lips.
Itâs quick and dirty, and it is everything she has ever imagined it would be.
An hour later, sheâs tangled up in the sheets of his bed, his entire being engulfing her as they watch the stars outside the window. She wonders if they are watching them too.
Paris is the city of lights, a statement sheâs never been more sure of. The streets are lit with every light, shining brighter than the stars. Sheâs in a permanent state of bliss, after the night she shared with Ethan. Their relationship is hidden from the public, living in stolen moments and nights in hotel rooms, but sheâs never been happier to be someone's dirty secret.
The band is electric on stage, something about the city theyâre in taking their performance to a whole new level. The show goes on longer than it should have, but none of them even care when their manager comes over to reprimand them. They hang around to greet fans and take photos with anyone and everyone, and itâs not until security has to kick them out that they finally leave.
They find themselves in a bar, not sure what part of the city theyâre in, but no one cares when the night feels like this. They drink expensive drinks that they canât pronounce the name of, dance to songs they donât know the words to, and feel more alive than theyâve ever felt. Itâs like the world turned itself up to 11 just for them.
She dances with Ethan, not caring who sees because the night is theirs and no one cares. She kisses him in the middle of the dance floor and he pulls her into a vacant bathroom. Itâs hot and heavy and the smell of alcohol envelopes them, but they couldnât care less. Is this love? They donât care. Theyâre young and dumb, and well, you only live once.
Back at the hotel they spend the night wrapped in bedsheets on the balcony, a bottle of champagne and a pack of cigarettes shared between the two of them. He points to the stars, a stupid grin on his face, âLe stelle brillano solo per noi.â
She snorts, throwing an abandoned pillow at him. He grabs her arm and pulls her into him, tickling her sides until sheâs begging him to stop, tears staining her cheeks but a laugh like no other leaving her lips.
As the night bleeds into morning, and both are hazy with sleep, he whispers to her, âSei il mio universo.â
They walk down the streets of London, his arm slung over her shoulders as she rambles away, both blissfully unaware of the few fans snapping photos down the street. They donât notice the group of girls following them, cameras and phones in hand, capturing picture after picture of the couple.
By the time they reach the shop, the photos are already out into the world.
As they order, reposts and comments start flowing, and their phones start lighting up with notifications.
Before they can pay, sheâs crying.
Rule number one of being in the public eye; never look at the comments, distance yourself from social media as much as possible, it will never end well.
The final stop in Rome was supposed to be a welcome home. A big celebration was to occur after their last concert, but now, itâs nothing more than finding the quickest way back home. She sits in one of the dressing rooms the entire show, waiting for it to end, scrolling through her social media.
She knows she shouldnât be, thatâll all itâs doing is hurting her, making her feel worse. But she canât stop. The comments aimed towards her and the drummer are terrible, and she wishes she could just delete herself from existence. They arenât even dating, at least not officially, but sheâs been deemed the girlfriend from hell. Sheâs unknowingly stolen something that never belonged to anyone to begin with.
Damianos girlfriend is in the room with her, telling her of her own horror stories dealing with fans, and she knows sheâs just trying to help, but she really wishes she would just shut up. She loves the girl to death, sheâs been a blessing this entire time, but she feels her mind is too far gone to be saved from the madness.
Itâs only a few minutes later that the band wanders in, the usual after show high replaced with a sudden heaviness. Ethan comes to stand by her after putting his things away and pulls her into a tight hug. âAmore mio.â
Heâs sweaty and could definitely use a shower, but the hug is comforting. She rubs his back soothingly, knowing this is just as hard on him as it is on her. Their management team has told everyone to remain quiet about it, disappearing from the internet until further notice while they figure out how to manage the situation. Itâs maddening, the inability to speak out and protect her. He wishes he could snap his fingers and everything would be fixed, but he knows nothing is ever that easy.
They make their way back to the villa in silence, the car filled with a strangeness. Sheâs sandwiched between Victoria and Ethan, leaning on the bassist's shoulder, watching her play a game on her phone. Itâs not how anyone wanted to end the tour, but the world is a strange and cruel place. Everything good always comes burning down.
August
Thereâs a party at the villa one night. Things have calmed down enough that she doesnât spiral every time she looks at her phone, but thereâs something in the way Ethan acts around her that makes her uneasy. Sheâs standing out on the patio, trying to avoid the questioning eyes from everyone in the house. She hasnât spoken to Ethan all day, and the alcohol coursing through her veins makes her even angrier than she knows she should be.
Out of the corner of her eye she sees him walk out the door beside her, a small scoff leaving her lips as he tries to speak to her.
âCouldnât be bothered to talk to me all day, whatâs changed that youâve decided to grace me with your presence?â
He looks at her, stunned. âI donât get what you mean.â
She scoffs again, placing her glass on the table across from her. âSince London youâve done nothing but ignore me. I get that this wasnât easy for you, but it wasnât exactly a cake walk for me. I needed you, Ethan, and you left me.â Her voice is raw and scratchy, the feeling of wanting to cry tickling the back of her throat.
âI donât know how to do this. I donât know how Dami does it, how he can deal with the comments and messages. My brain wonât shut off, I canât stop thinking about how if I had been more careful, I couldâve protected you and none of this wouldâve happened. I feel stupid for thinking I could have. I hate seeing you like this, I wish I could take you away from all of this.â His voice slowly lowers, till itâs nothing more than a whisper, words meant only for her.
âI was never what you wanted, was I? This was just all some stupid game to you. I was just someone you could use to get off.â Her voice is laced with pain, a small crack coming out as she speaks.
He shakes his head, laughing slightly, and turns to look away from her. He walks a few steps before turning to face her again, âNo. No, you were exactly what I wanted. You were everything to me. We were the same type of crazy.â
âI donât understand Ethan, then what was the problem? This feels like a confession and a break up all in one.â She crosses her arms and leans against the wall, watching as he pulls a cigarette out from his pocket and lights it.
The familiar sight creates something warm in her chest, memories of summer nights like this flash through her mind. Spending the evening sitting on the balcony of different hotel rooms, sharing a cigarette between the two of them while they let the events of the day soak in. Sheâd give anything to go back to one of those moments. He blows a breath of smoke out and starts to speak again, âI donât know, amore. I donât. I want to tell you I love you, to hold you and call you mine. But I canât.â
âCanât, or wonât.â Itâs not a question, but a statement.
âNo, donât do that. Donât turn this into something itâs not. I want to, believe me, I do.â He steps towards her and reaches out his arms, âBut we both know we canât.â
She doesnât know where the tears come from, but theyâre there, pooling in her eyes. Itâs only been a few months since theyâve met, there were no promises to be anything more than a summer adventure, but this doesnât feel right. Her heart should not be breaking at the thought of losing someone she barely even knows.
He stops when he notices her state, reaching out to wipe the tears falling down her cheeks. âMerda. Merda! This wasnât how this was supposed to go.â
She looks up at him through clouded eyes, âThen how was this supposed to go, Ethan? Breaking my heart wasnât supposed to hurt me this bad? I was supposed to smile and tell you that I'm not madly in love with you and these past few months meant nothing to me?â
His heart breaks slowly at her words. He never meant for the night to go this way, and he wishes he could just pull her into his arms and tell her he loved her, that everything could be okay. But he canât, so he pulls away from her, âIâm sorry, Iâm so fucking sorry.â
Theyâre the only words he can manage to get out without breaking down. He takes a second to watch her, memorize all the features of her face, before turning around and walking away. Itâs a sight that rips her heart out, watching his form disappear back into the house. She knows this is it, the goodbye sheâd been preparing for these past few weeks, but it doesnât hurt any less.
Before she can help herself, sheâs calling after him. âBeing in love isnât a weakness, you know!â But the words fall upon deaf ears.
Vic finds her standing in the same spot an hour later. Sheâs got a smoke lit in her hand, the third one from the pack. She hasnât touched her lips to any of them, but the smell and the feeling of holding it brings her comfort. She was never really one to smoke, but she found it entrancing to watch Ethan do it, and right now, itâs the only thing keeping her grounded. Itâs silly, how something so small can mean so much.
Her heart aches in the most unbearable way, but she canât bring herself to do anything about it. Vic doesnât speak, just stands beside her. She doesnât need to ask to know that she is well aware of the events that have just unfolded, sheâs just grateful for the company.
September
Itâs stupidly hot in London for the time of year, but mother nature loves her unexpected heat waves. Sheâs home now, having left Rome shortly after the fight with Ethan, assuring their manager that she would be able to edit and upload all of the photos and videos from the comfort of her own flat.
Vic and Thomas had driven her to the airport, had walked her all the way to security and hugged her tightly before letting her go. Sheâd promised to keep in touch and Victoria had made her pinky swear that if she was ever in Rome again, sheâd come visit. The flight was short, and she was glad the time difference was only an hour.
Her sister had picked her up and dropped her off at her flat, and sheâd immediately collapsed into bed. That was three days ago, sheâd barely moved since. Someone had caught her at the airport and the photos were everywhere, articles upon articles had been released, sheâd had non stop messages from everyone, but all she could bring herself to do was turn her phone off.
Her photos make it to the front of magazines, her articles getting featured all over the globe, sheâs made a name for herself. She gets emails from prospective clients wanting to book her in at shows, her boss sending her information for more high end gigs, but all she can think about is her drummer boy.
Her phone still sits turned off on her desk, she refuses to turn it on for anything, resorting to using only her email, but she knows everything thatâs going on with the band. Sheâd been asked to join them again in a few months, to become a permanent part of their team. She hasnât been able to reply.
She gets panicky thinking about seeing him again, about the things people will say if sheâs caught in the same country as him. Sheâs stopped receiving death threats, but thereâs still comments that creep in, fans thanking whatever gods made them seperate.
Victoria tries to reach out every few days, worried about the state of person sheâs become, but she canât even manage to type out an Iâm okay. The world seems to be too fast and too slow, too bright and too dark, too much and not enough. Her heart aches and itâs a pain so deep she thinks sheâll never be okay again. Love is a cruel, cruel creature.
October
She finally brings herself to go back to work at the beginning of the month. She books herself in for a small band, someone no one really knows but she hopes they will one day. Sheâs in Amsterdam now, trying hard not to think of the memories the place brings. The band is good, the music heavy and the beat strong. They find a way to tell a story that leaves everyone with a soul searching question by the end of the night. Do you know who you are?
Sheâs only with them for a few nights, a short gig, but something she needed to get the ball rolling, to remember why she was doing this in the first place. After submitting the photos and writing an article that sends another wave of offers her way, she takes a few days to explore the city. It was wonderful before, when the air was warm and it felt like there was magic enveloping the city. But now, with the change of seasons, itâs even more beautiful than she remembers.
She walks the empty streets one night, huddled in the safety of her hoodie, camera in hand, and captures moments. A couple standing under a street light, a cafe closing for the night, kids running. Itâs not until she hears a laugh sheâs all too familiar with that her heart stops and her blood turns cold. She turns, ever so carefully, hidden behind the side of a building, and sees him.
Heâs beautiful, even more than she remembers, and he looks happy. Heâs walking with two girls, the resemblance making her sure itâs his sisters, but in this light she canât be sure. Sheâs never met them, but he talked about them often, and she felt a pang in her chest for the homesickness he must have felt.
She tries to run, tries her hardest to get away, but sheâs in an alley that leads nowhere and heâll for sure be able to see her no matter what. The voices of the three get closer and she starts to panic, but thereâs nowhere to go and she knows sheâll have to pull on her big girl pants and face him. But her heart wonât stop beating so loudly and sheâs afraid sheâll break if he looks at her.
She pretends to be busy with her camera, focusing all of her attention on settings she knows are perfect, but a voice carries itâs way to her ears. âHey stranger.â
Itâs soft and it makes her knees weak and she hates herself for it. She looks up at him and his expecting eyes and her heart breaks all over again. She canât help it, but suddenly there are tears running down her face and she canât breathe. âHey, hey. Itâs okay.â
He places a hand on her shoulder but she pushes it away, âNo itâs not.â She says between breaths.
âI shouldnât be here, I should not be here. I have to go.â
She turns to leave, but one of his sisters stops her, âLet us walk you home, please. My brother may be a dumbass, but we have good genes. Let us make sure you get back safe.â
She doesnât know why the words calm her, but she nods her head and lets the girls lead her in the direction of her hotel. The twins, Eleanora and Lucrezia, talk to her in fits of italian and english, trying to keep her brain occupied. But her whole body is on high alert, too aware of the man trailing behind them and how much of a fool she must look like. She feels like a mess, like someone drowning in a foot of water, but she canât help it.
They walk her into the lobby of her hotel, the girls wish her a goodnight before shoving Ethan towards her. She doesnât want to talk to him, and he must see it in her eyes because he tries to leave. But his sisters wonât let him, they stand tall and he looks like a child being scolded by his parents.
âCan we sit?â He asks, pointing to a couch.
She doesnât want to, she wants to run up to her room and cry, but she nods. They sit and it is silent. Her stomach is in her throat, her eyes hurt from trying not to cry, but she sits and she waits. She studies his face, the crease in between his eyebrows that only forms when heâs confused or thinking, she wants to reach over and smooth it out. He turns towards her and catches her staring, a small smile forming on his lips.
He takes her in, allowing himself to really look at her for the first time in months, and something in his heart breaks. How did he ever let her go? Why was he so stupid to ruin something so beautiful?
âIâm sorry.â He blurts out before he can stop himself. âIâm so sorry, amore. I know I canât say it enough, I know itâs not as easy as that, but Iâm sorry and I love you. So much it hurts.â
The words hit her like a truck, they knock the air out of her lungs and the tears she was trying so hard to keep at bay start falling down her cheeks. She stands up so fast she gets light headed, âI canât do this. I thought I could, but I canât.â
She turns and starts walking towards the elevators. He calls after her, but sheâs determined to leave, to get away. He runs after her, catching her right before the doors of the elevator close, and he wishes she didnât look so broken. The doors slip close and she is gone and he feels like he could break something.
Her room is cold and she wishes she was home in her flat. She throws herself into the shower, the water burning her skin, and she sobs. She sobs so hard her body shakes, she screams and hopes no one can hear her.
Heâs still standing by the elevator, crying now, too. His body aches in a way heâs never felt before and he hates that he isnât holding her right now. He knows he messed up, he beats himself up for it everyday, but he doesnât know how to fix it. He canât just say sorry and expect everything to be okay, but he has to do something.
November
The ground is covered in snow. It is peaceful and quiet. Heâs not used to this, the cold and the snow, but he understands the appeal. Heâs standing outside her flat, or at least what he hopes is her flat, Victoria wasnât exactly sure which one was hers. Heâs bought her favourite flowers and heâs prepared to pour his soul out to her.
He paces outside her door for what feels like hours, trying to get himself to knock, but before he can, she opens the door. âEthan?â
Her voice is soft, his heart sings at the sound of it. He turns to face her and the sight before him takes his breath away. Sheâs wearing a dress that shows off everything he loved about her, a coat thrown over her arm, she looks like an angel on earth. âDo you have a moment?â
Sheâs running late for dinner with her sister, but sheâs afraid if she says no to him, sheâll never see him again. She hasnât forgotten that night in Amsterdam, wishes she would have been brave enough to stay and talk, but she canât change the past. âYes, yes. Come in.â
She lets him into her flat, taking the flowers he hands her, and brings him over to her couch. âSo.â
The script heâd had prepared in his head is suddenly gone from his memories. âIâve thought this through a thousand times, planned this out a million different ways, but I canât figure out the right words to say. Iâm sorry, amore mio. I canât say that enough. I never should have left you, shouldnât have let things happen the way they did. Loving you was easy, and I think that scared me.â
She takes a deep breath, not sure what to say. She feels tears bubbling in the back of her throat and she hates that this is her response to everything revolving around him. He notices the shift in her, can tell sheâs about to cry, âAmore mio, please donât cry. Iâll start and then neither of us will be able to do anything else.â
She laughs quietly at his words, âI donât think there are any tears left inside of me. I cried them all for you.â
His heart breaks at her confession. He moves closer to her and wraps himself around her. She hates how easy it is for her to melt into his touch, but she enjoys the comfort of it. âTell me how to fix this. Tell me to stay and I will be here for as long as youâll have me. Iâm yours amore.â
âPlease, donât leave me again.â The words are barely more than a whisper, but he hears them.
He pulls her tight to his chest and holds her. She doesnât care about anything else but this moment and him.
She wakes up the next morning in her bed. The sun is streaming in through the windows and she can smell Ethans body wash laced in the fibres of her bed sheets. She rolls over, expecting to see him beside her, but is met with an empty bed. Her heart sinks, afraid that everything heâd said was too good to be true, that heâd left her, again. But the sounds coming from her kitchen prove her wrong.
She gets up, quickly changing out of the dress she was wearing the night before, and follows the sound of clinking dishes. Sheâs greeted by the sight of a shirtless Ethan, back turned to her, hunched over her stove. Thereâs the smell of coffee brewing and something soft playing from the radio. If she doesnât think too hard, she can almost imagine this being a daily occurrence.
He turns around when he hears the floorboards creak, a smile on his face, âBuongiorno amore mio.â
âBuongiorno.â
He hands her a cup of coffee and plates the pancakes heâs made. She smiles at the domesticality of it all. He sits down beside her on the couch and they eat in silence, leaning against one another. Afterwards, she washes the dishes and he dries them. Neither one of them says anything until the sun is high in the sky and they are laying in bed together. âI love you.â
It is the first time sheâs said it in such a permanent way, she recites it like it is a fact written in history books. He looks down at her, sheâs curled up on his chest, a hazy look on her face. He reaches down to tuck her hair behind her ear and leans his head towards her, âTi voglio bene.â He seals the statement with a soft kiss.
Itâs light and barley there, she chases after his lips as he pulls away, and he chuckles in a way that sends butterflies into her stomach. She places herself on his lap, weaving her fingers into his hair as his tether to her waist. âHi.â
âHi.â
He stares at her, memorizing all of the features of her face. He loses himself in thoughts of days spent exactly like this, of a life he hopes isnât just a dream. He flips them over carefully, laying her down on the bed. He hovers over her, arms on either side of her head, âIâm going to show you how much I love you.â
December
âMove in with me.â
Itâs early in the morning and theyâre sitting in bed sharing a pot of coffee and a pack of cigarettes. His arm is wrapped around her shoulders, sheâs leaned into his side, and he whispers those words.
She hasnât yet told him about the offer from the band's manager, to become their permanent photographer, but it seems like the perfect moment to. âYes.â
âReally?â
She laughs at his shock, âI was offered to come and work for the band full time, I havenât replied yet. But I want to take the job.â
A goofy grin makes its way onto his face, âDo it! Right now. Tell them yes, come and stay with us. Be my girlfriend?â
Heâs rambling and he doesnât care. She smiles at him, her heart bursting with love for the man. âOkay, yes! Absolutely!â
Christmas is celebrated in their apartment in Rome. The band is there, her sister flies out and his family comes too. It is a day filled with love and laughter. They eat a grand lunch that they spent the previous day cooking, his mom brings a homemade panettone. They exchange gifts in the evening, and it is everything sheâd dreamed of.
On New Year's Eve they make a trip to the villa. They sing songs and drink expensive wine. Fireworks light up the sky brighter than the stars. They sit out on the porch and tell stories of things that seem so far away. Heâs sitting beside her, hands intertwined. He tells her about all of the things he wants to do in the new year and she is mesmerized by the way he talks.
There will be a moment in time when the world stops spinning and everything goes quiet, and she thinks that if that were to happen now, it would be the perfect way to go. Surrounded by the people she now calls family and the person she loves most in the world.
Fireworks go off in the distance, someone shouts out a drunken happy new year! and as time flows from one year to the next, she realizes that this is all that will ever matter.

BTS w/B&PC Part 4
Click here for the other posts of 'Behind the Scenes with Bee and PuppyCat'
Frederator Postcard Series 26.1
Now that Bee and PuppyCat: Lazy in Space is scheduled to drop on Netflix, September 6, 2022, I thought I would share some of my recollections as to how this special series of Natasha Allegriâs came to be. âFred Seibert
Was our Kickstarter going to work? Could we make a Bee and PuppyCat series?
It was hard for some people to believe. Frederator had been very successful, with several series over the years, most recently the well regarded hit series of âAdventure Time.â Why would we need to ask the Kickstarter community to fund the Bee and PuppyCat series?
At least, that was one of the issues we were dealing with as we contemplated how we could make the show. Over the years, Iâve been asked almost as many questions about the PuppyCat Kickstarter as about anything else, so Iâll try and answer as many here as I can.
Here are a few key things to think about... My production companies have always had three key elements, and Bee and PuppyCat hit all three.
Creators first. Itâs all about Natasha Allegri. Everything about Bee and PuppyCat is because of her unique vision, and her dedication and hard work that she puts into it every minute to make it special. Everything else follows.
Original, always. As I recently said to an idiot when he made a suggestion about other networks that might like PuppyCat, âDid you even watch the show?!â Aargh.
âOriginalâ only begins to scratch the surface (no pun intended) of the exceptional qualities of the show. The characters, the stories, the drawing and design, the voice actors, the music.
Why would ever make a show that wasnât original?
Your next favorite cartoon. Weâre fans, just like our audiences. We want to be involved with creators and show that we just have to make. Weâre looking for our next faves too.
All of my companies have been up-from-the-bootstraps, indie companies. Self funded, with an occasional small investment here and there. Generally, if we wanted to get a series going, especially one that required a âfullâ production (rather than what I call a âgarage bandâ style, one person does everything, film), we needed a partner. And because the expense of an animated cartoon was in many millions of dollars for a 13 or 20 episode season, we always went to TV networks (or today, streamers too) who 1) needed cartoons, and 2) sold enough advertising or subscriptions to afford them. As I said in Part 3 of this series of posts, there was really no one who would take a chance on a unique show with Bee and PuppyCat.
As we were thinking about Kickstarter, we started jamming on the positives âand negativesâ that our community would ask, and coming up with what we thought we reasonable responses to all of them.
Leading the charge was Nate Olson, a longtime friend whoâd joined Frederator as Vice President, Marketing, but expanded his role over the years into pretty much everything outside of production. Itâs fair to say that without Nate, the Bee and PuppyCat series wouldnât have had a chance.
A quick diversion, and maybe a lesson, about Kickstarter. Among people I know, it seems easy. You put up your creative project âa comic, a video game, a filmâ and voila! people give you free money! If only it was so. Putting together a crowd funding project is a full time occupation, often for several months, and requires smarts, diligence, and just a lot of 24 hour, flop-sweat filled days.
Nate is the hero of the B&PC Kickstarter, the person who made it happen for Bee and PuppyCat. He even directed me beautifully in the KS video (Iâm a BTS guy, not really one for the camera).
Hereâs Nateâs recollections of the project...
We reached out to our friend, crowdfunding expert George Rohac. George worked with Frederator to outline the kinds of tiers, rewards, and milestones a 30 day Kickstarter needed. Frederator had modest goals at the outset and high hopes. We spent 60 days planning, creating assets, and getting collaborators on board. Then 30 days doing the Kickstarter.
The fans donated enough to hit the goal (6 x 6 minute episodes) within about 10 days. And then the stretch goals were accomplished over the remaining 20 days. At the time it was the most backed crowdfunding campaign with (almost 20K backers) and largest web series ever crowdfunded.
It took over a year to get the first group of episodes produced and up on YouTube. And then a couple of years more to get the rest of the episodes. We switched [overseas] production partners and we gave Natasha all of the time she needed to do what she wanted to do.
We had to wait until the DVD's could be made before we fulfilled most of the physical rewards so that took a few years. We understood the backers frustrations and read every comment and email about it. Frederator invested its own money to make an even 10 episodes (a total 60 minutes of content.) We had an exclusive BOOM! comic cover and exclusive signature edition Squishables [Here are some of the exclusive Kickstarter rewards. -Fred]. 17 licensees signed up to do Bee and PuppyCat merch, with dozens and dozens of amazing Bee and PuppyCat products.
The Kickstarter drop was amazing, the fans responded in droves, even the one naysayer in our joint had to eat his words.
But, it was still a nerve racking month for all of us, especially Nate. Iâd watch him drag himself into the New York office looking like he hadnât slept a bit. He hadnât, he just kept refreshing the KS site, exhilarated when things went up, deflated when there was no action. About halfway through the month he set up a Reddit AMA with Natasha and me on the Adventure Time subReddit (Nate and programmer Matt Gielen sat with me through the whole thing, since I wasnât familiar with the insider subReddit jargon; didnât want to disapppoint!).
You know the end of this part of the story. We not only beat our large expectations, but became, at least for five years or so, the most backed animation project in Kickstarterâs history until that month. Yayyyyy!
Now came the hard work. Producing a series.
More to come in BTS w/B&PC Part 5. Parts 1-3 here.

What I'm going to do now is a little rant, which I never imagined myself doing, but the pain I'm feeling is so great that it needs to be out.
I've been in the Fate fandom since the first season premiered, but very quiet, not interacting much out of shyness and because I don't think I'm good at anything, not even writing, which I try, while all of you are very talented. Being a fan of the Winx cartoon since I was little, I had as my favorites Griffin, Musa and Flora, and having my attention called right in the first teaser per Farah, going to look on for the character on the internet, most of what I found were lies, but she seemed to me to be a mix between Griffin and Faragonda, drawing my attention even more, as teenagers didn't, I don't deny that I watched the series for her, enchanting me more than I thought possible, not only for the character but also for what it seemed to be happening between her and Silva, turning her into my all-time favorite character. When Dowling was attacked by Rosalind, her return seemed certain, they would not kill the important character that she was, the mentor and who at many times had seemed to be Bloom's biological mother, and even with the darker tone that was warned, she was one of the most powerful fairies, if not the most powerful, as Rosalind had spent 16 years imprisoned while she was free to develop her magic, and it was she who warned the others how dangerous Rosalind was, to turn her back like that without a good plan.
But that's not what happened and since the Friday of the premiere, I literally lost my ground, having my heart in pieces and cried for two hours, I still cry, because it seems like he comes back every moment of the day, it's such a pain big as if she were a real person, even though I know she's a character, and having seen others who were my favorites in other series die, but none destroyed the deepest inside me, that hurts my soul, and I didn't even had the courage to see the scene, knowing only from videos I find, not with it all complete. Maybe I feel that way because the moment that Farah arrived was so sad in my life, when I didn't have the will to live anymore, and she was so solar, amazing, powerful, motherly to the little girls, that in a way she became mine strength and joy to face the chaos, and yes I knew how wrong it was to get attached to a character like that, but I couldn't help it, and I didn't even realize it was on that level until I know about of scene.
The pain became greater when thinking about how she had so much to explore as a character, we don't know her story, we don't know anything about her, her death was in total lack of meaning for what was presented of her, for the couple that they put clues to about it in the official book, and yes I understand that this happened because of Emily in House of the Dragons, but without wanting to give too much spoiler, they could have waited a bit, delayed her return, not killed off one of the most beloved characters in the public, even being a series of teenagers, in all a prominent adult, being family or mentor, as she was to Bloom, needing both her guidance and Muse, whom she would help to make sense of her powers and what she could do catch up. For those reasons and my pain, which destroys me every day, I refuse to believe that this was the ultimate canon ending for Farah Dowling, she really didn't deserve it.
It took me so long to write about this, because with every line I tried, the tears came back, Farah Dowling created a void in my life that was impossible to overcome, and her ending made me lose absolutely everything
Don't mind me, I'm just a person suffering a lot because of Farah, and another one in love with this character, and for everything the fandom created about her, better than the series itself had offered, and it took me so long for that

Build-A-Bear
Part Nine
Featuring: Bucky x Stark!reader, dad!Tony, Sam, Steve
Warnings: gun-related violence (this is the primary theme so please be cautious), language, reference to smut
Summary: With reader back to work in the Tower, new threats arise and new approaches are taken to her safety. Kind of a filler but also kind of important.
Authorâs Note: The next part is gonna be a 0 to 100 chapter so please hold while I hammer that out. I usually try to add multiple scenes/days/events but this is just one situation the reader is caught in. Itâll be getting to the primary climax soon though so Iâm thinking maybe 3-4 parts left? Unless thereâs more drama I want to add later đ And as always, feel free to send me a coffee!

The next few weeks were thankfully uneventful. You had ordered a bed for Steve to put in the living room, including a curtain so he could have a little privacy, especially when Sam woke up extra early to start making breakfast. Bucky kept the inflatable mattress on your floor, but spent every night with you in his arms instead. âItâs safer this way,â heâd say. It was his excuse just in case your dad ever showed up unannounced.
The one time your dad did show up unannounced, Steve and Sam were at your front door with their weapons drawn and Bucky was shirtless in your bedroom doorway with his own gun aimed at your father. Fortunately, none of them were trigger-happy and lowered their weapons when they realized who it was.
Your dad learned three things that day:
1. He needed to call ahead if he planned on stopping by.
2. You were in very good hands in the safety of your apartment.
3. He wasnât a fan of seeing a shirtless Winter Soldier leaving your bedroom â or seeing a shirtless Falcon and Captain America in your living room, for that matter.
Regardless, you were never worried about your safety when you were home, or even when the boys let you go out and about with them flanking you on every side. Needless to say, you didnât go out much.
But you were able to go back to work at the Tower, mainly because the boys hadnât been able to properly train or attend any missions while you were holed up at home â and it looked like things were clearing up around you. Your dad said one of them would have to stay with you even if the other two went on missions and had fortunately let you choose who that one lonely man would be. Not that youâd ever let Bucky actually be lonely.
The media buzz over you had died pretty quickly, but there were still a few relentless reporters that would crowd around you when you left Stark Tower. You always parked under the building where none of them could get in, but that didnât stop you from going out to get lunch instead of staying inside and having it delivered. The weather was getting warmer and you wanted to get out while you could.
One gloomy Thursday, your dad decided to join you, Bucky, Sam, and Steve when you went out for your lunch. There was a falafel place just down the street that you liked, so the five of you decided to make it a group date, of sorts. Bucky was nervous at first, but you assured him it would all be fine.
âIf you get a little cozy, just blame it on staying close so no one else can,â you said, holding his jaw in your hands. âYouâre just keeping me safe.â
You pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead as you stood in the middle of your lab. You werenât required to have protection while inside the Tower, but Bucky insisted on visiting when his training hours were over.
âIâll always keep you safe,â he said softly. He pulled your hands from his cheeks and kissed your knuckles before tugging you out of the lab to meet the rest of your lunch crew at the elevators.
Now that everyone knew who you were, you were able to be more playful and casual around your dad. Things that would usually have earned you some questioning stares from your work friends instead led to laughs and high-fives. You could make jokes and digs without getting in the same kind of trouble as Sam or Bucky. Steve still had the most immunity.
That was one of those days. You and Steve poking fun at Tony and making playful jokes he was quick to quip back at. The five of you were alone in the elevator the whole trip down, probably because Tony had Friday set to not allow anyone else in when he was in the lift.
Everyone was all smiles and laughs until the elevator doors opened. You took about three steps before you were practically tackled to the ground, a loud bang followed by the sharp ding of metal on metal stunning you more than the pressure of a body pressing against yours. Before you could even comprehend what was happening, the plaster of the wall above you shattered and crumbled around you at the sound of another loud bang echoing in the Tower lobby. None of the debris actually hit you, probably because of the large, heavy body of your boyfriend curled over yours.
Since you were on your hands and knees, you turned just enough to see Buckyâs blue eyes blown wide as he looked down at you.
âAre you okay?â he asked frantically.
âI--I think so?â you replied, not entirely sure what you were supposed to be okay from. You hadnât really processed what was happening, just that Bucky was completely covering you with his body. âAre you okay?â
He just nodded. âThe bullet hit my arm, no damage.â
âThe bullet?!â you half-screamed. âIs anyone hurt?â You pushed against his metal arm to see the rest of the lobby; everyone was crouched to the ground, and the sound of more bangs and dings of Tonyâs suit getting hit told you why. Tony was just a couple feet from you, letting his Iron Man suit build around him, but started waving his hands at you, shouting âget her out of here!â
Buckyâs arms swooped under you and he swept you past the elevators and stairwell to a back room that only unlocked after Bucky scanned his hand in a hidden compartment. The door opened to a separate, smaller stairwell that you assume only led to the Avengersâ floors⌠30 floors up.
âThis way,â Bucky said, drawing your reluctant gaze from the towering steps to a hidden elevator behind the staircase. Thank god.
He quickly ushered you in and pressed the button for the private rooms. Youâd never been above the common rooms, save for the one time you sat in Buckyâs room after surgery. Your eyes flicked to Buckyâs that were already trained on you looking for any injuries.
âAre you sure youâre okay?â he asked. His hands rested on your shoulders, his eyebrows furrowed as he scanned your face and body again and again.
You just nodded, still trying to process having literally been shot at. But the secret elevator was much faster than the main elevator because you arrived at Buckyâs floor seconds later. He grabbed your hand and led you to his room, keeping you close and constantly looking around even though only verified Avengers could access this floor.
âYour dad set up a whole plan in case something like this ever happened,â he explained. âWeâre supposed to stay on this floor until one of them comes to get us. Chances are youâll end up working from home again since youâre somehow safer there with us than here with everyone.â
He sounded annoyed, but you couldnât blame him. You assumed youâd be safer in and around the Tower than in your apartment. Your apartment didnât have all the gadgets and gizmos the Tower had. Sure, you had installed your own security system and now had constant video recording, but the Tower had Iron Man.
âAre you okay?â you asked again. Bucky looked up at you with his eyebrows drawn together, but nodded at your question. âAre⌠are dad, Steve, and Sam okay?â
It was harder for Bucky to answer that when he didnât know. He silently pulled up the Tower video feed on his TV and found the main entrance. Tony already had the shooter face down on the ground with blasters aimed at him and an iron boot on his back; Steve and Sam were checking on bystanders. Knowing the rest of your little team was safe eased some of the tension in your body, but that just made it easier for you to realize you had nearly been shot.
âThank you for saving me,â you said quietly. Bucky stepped closer to you, letting you wrap your arms around him as you forced back tears brought forward by the onslaught of fear that ran through you.
âIâll always protect you, princess,â he said just as softly. He pressed a kiss to the top of your head and just held you. It was just as important for him to hold you as it was for you to be held by him. While his embrace helped ground you and reminded you that you were okay, it reassured him that you were safe with him.
Bucky had grown so used to being the cause of peopleâs fear, not their source of comfort. You changed that.
You just stood there in each otherâs arms for a while, needing the security to calm both of your nerves.
âCan we just⌠lie down?â you asked.
Bucky had never seen you this fragile before. He always saw you as his spunky little spitfire, so seeing you gradually crack and splinter as the seconds ticked by made his own heart break. Without a word, he led you over to his bed. He laid down first, letting you curl your legs over his abdomen and rest your head against his shoulder.
âI know youâre physically okay, but do you wanna talk about it?â Bucky asked softly.
You were quiet for a second, nervously playing with the hem of his t-shirt. It took a few minutes, but the gravity of what just happened ran over you like a freight engine and your mind wasnât having a good time trying to get back on track.
âHow many shots were fired?â you finally asked.
Thatâs not what he wanted you to ask.
âI counted five before we got out.â
The pause before your answer just made Buckyâs nerves even more frazzled. He wasnât used to consoling anyone. That was Samâs specialty, not his.
âSomeone tried to shoot me five times,â you said solemnly. âSomeone tried to⌠to kill me five times.â
âHey, no,â Bucky hushed. âWeâre not doing that. When I said Iâll always keep you safe, I meant it. I canât lose my Build-A-Bear. Those things are expensive,â he teased.
You huffed a soft laugh before snuggling your head against his chest. With his right arm wrapped around you to trace his fingertips across your skin and his left hand hooked over your calves, it wasnât long before you fell asleep. The stress of what appeared to be an attempted assassination didnât sit lightly on your shoulders.
Bucky managed to stay awake, slowly and carefully grabbing his remote to find something to watch until he received word to let you go.
Nearly three hours later â after Steve, Sam, and Tony had spoken with the police and tried to get some info out of the shooter â all three came barreling into Buckyâs room, quickly silenced by the sight of you sleeping on Bucky. You had adjusted your position in your sleep, slipping your body between Buckyâs legs and resting your head on his abdomen. This left him to play with your hair since you were too low for him to continue to hold. He knew youâd have one hell of a time getting to sleep later that night and probably hold your messed up sleep schedule against him until you got back on track, but he wasnât going to wake you up.
âWhatâs going on?â Tony asked, more curiously than accusingly.
âUh, she seemed pretty, um, unsettled by the whole thing and just wanted me to, to hold her,â he explained quietly and slowly, attempting to avoid revealing anything.
Tony just nodded in understanding.
âWhen she wakes up, I want you to find me.â
The way he said it didnât sound upset or threatening, but Bucky felt ice shoot up his spine at your dad wanting to sit down with him â and only him. Nonetheless, he nodded as everyone left the room.
When you woke up not long after, he made sure you were okay before leaving to âtalk things over with the guys,â he said.
Tony was waiting for Bucky in one of the conference rooms. He didnât have anything with him other than his phone, so Bucky figured he wasnât in any trouble⌠but that just confused him more.
âDonât worry, Iâm not gonna fire you for⌠cuddling with my daughter,â Tony said with a cringe. âTake a seat, please.â
Bucky hesitantly sat across from Tony, clearly still worried about what was going on. Tonyâs silence was unnerving.
â[Y/N] is going back to her place full time. Iâm sure you already figured that out. You three musketeers are clearly better at keeping her safe than I am. And before I continue, I need to say that Samâs a good guy â most of the time â and Steveâs⌠something, usually something good, even though he loves getting on my nerves. But today, you were the first line of defense. Donât think I missed the sound of that first shot hitting you. If you had been on the other side of her, youâd be in medbay right now having a bullet fished out of your arm.â
Tony paused again. He spun his phone in his hands, clearly working up to something and unknowingly setting Bucky on high alert. He was still waiting for the other shoe to drop.
âSteve and Sam are going to stay with her at her place, of course, but I donât want you to leave her side,â Tony finally continued. âIf she goes into the kitchen for breakfast, youâre in the kitchen getting breakfast. If she goes to the bathroom, youâre right outside the door. That mattress stays right next to her bed. When she wants to order food, you send one of the other guys and stay with her. Bucky.â Tony paused once again. He leaned forward now just to make sure the severity of what he was about to say was fully understood. He didnât want to say it, but he knew it was the right decision. âIâm trusting you with my daughterâs life. I donât take this shit lightly and as much as I want to dislike you⌠youâre the person I trust the most right now.â
Bucky couldnât describe the emotions running through his brain. Confidence? Joy? Maybe even fear? Sure, it was nice that his boss was giving him such a huge responsibility, but it was something entirely different to hear his girlfriendâs dad say that he trusted him. Wasnât that part of why you werenât telling Tony? Would this change things? Could you finally be open with your relationship?
âThank you, Tony. That really means a lot. Uh, I-I wonât let you down,â Bucky managed to squeak out.
Tony just nodded before patting Bucky on the shoulder and leaving the room. Bucky sat alone in silence for a second to fully process everything. Was it ironic? Tony Stark was trusting the man who killed his parents to now protect his daughter. But wasnât it already fucked up that Howard and Mariaâs granddaughter was knowingly and willingly dating their killer?
Bucky had gone through a lot to come to terms with his past, but moments like this cast doubt on him again. But he couldnât dwell on it. He had to find you, Sam, and Steve to get you home.
When he got back to his room, he found all three of you sitting on his bed and talking. You were still lying against the headboard with Steve sitting criss-cross applesauce and Sam lying on his stomach. You looked like a group of high schoolers at a sleepover.
âHey,â he said softly. You smiled and made grabby-hands at him until he sat beside you.
âSlight change of plans.â
Everyone looked at him in confusion, Sam and Steve clearly not up to date on the teamâs roles.
âI just sat down with Tony and, uh, I guess Iâm basically your bodyguard now.â
âYou already have been for a month now,â you said with a confused laugh.
âWell, yeah, but your dad said Iâm not supposed to leave your side. Like, if you move to another room, I move with you.â Your eyes widened at this. It felt excessive, to say the least. You were basically already attached at the hip, but sometimes you just need a minute to be alone. âHe said Iâm the one he trusts most to protect you.â
âCome on, man, you couldâve just told me to go fuck myself,â Sam joked, earning a punch to the shoulder from Steve.
âAw, you finally got parental approval,â you cooed, cupping his jaw in your hands.
âI donât think the approval extends to me hitting it from the back until you pass out,â Bucky chuckled. Sam whistled lowly while Steve just shook his head in disappointment (approval?).
âSpeaking of hitting it from the back, we should probably get back to my place before itâs too dark,â you said.
A light knock on your door drew everyoneâs attention but before you could see who it was, you toppled over at the force of Bucky shoving your body behind his. You managed to catch yourself on his shoulders to lift yourself up, wrapping your arms loosely around his neck with your head perched on his shoulder. It was admittedly very couple-y, but your dad seemed unfazed in your doorway.
âHey pops,â you chirped.
âI see I made a good decision,â he said, noting how quickly Bucky hid you from what couldâve been a potential threat. âBy the way, Barnes is in charge of this operation now. Sorry Cap.â Steve just held his hands up in surrender. You figured he didnât mind handing the reins over for once.
âWe were just about to head out,â Bucky said. Youâd have to make sure this newfound power didnât go to his head. Which just meant youâd have to get him on his kneesâŚ
âI just wanted to give you this.â He held out what looked like the remote scanner cashiers had in checkout lanes. âI know [Y/N] has been getting a lot of fan mail so this will scan up to 20 items at a time for hazardous devices, poisonous toxins, and anything else thatâs potentially harmful.â
You hadnât gone through your mail in at least a week, but youâd already gotten the green light to have the next day â a Friday, thankfully â off after what happened, so you and the boys could hammer through everything and clear off your dining room table.
âThanks, dad.â
You hopped off the bed and wrapped your dad in a much-needed hug. You both needed one after the stress of the day gradually wore off, but you could tell he needed one even more. You had Bucky to run to; Tony was worried about you. He held you tight and gently scratched right below your neck, just like he would do to get you to fall asleep as a baby. Some things never change.
âI love you,â you said quietly.
âI love you too, pumpkin,â he replied, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. After another moment, you pulled apart and he went right back into business mode. âOkay, Rhodey and I are gonna follow you guys home in the suits just in case anything happens. Barnes, youâre in the backseat with [Y/N].â
With your dad standing behind you, he couldnât see you mouth âbackseatâ to Bucky with a wink. The super soldierâs cheeks turned light pink, but so did Steveâs, which made it hard for you to keep from laughing as your dad continued discussing what changes would be made for your safety.
â˘
When you finally â safely â got home, you just wanted to take a bath and go to bed. You hadnât even had supper, but you almost didnât want to eat anything. If it hadnât been for Bucky bringing you stuffed peppers courtesy of Sam, you probably wouldnât have eaten. But he ate his dinner beside you on your bed, then joined you for a long, hot, bubbly bath.
Both of you knew it needed to be a slow night without saying a word. Buckyâs hands lazily ran over your skin before chasing the rinse of water with his lips. He wasnât rushed or aggressive; he took his time and savored being with you. Even when you were lying in bed and desperately grabbing at his arms, back, shoulders, everything, his strokes were sensual and deliberate. His body acted as a fortress over yours, keeping you guarded from the rest of the world, even if it was just in your bedroom.
And as you fell asleep in his arms that night, he promised himself he would get to the bottom of your attack whether the law wanted him to or not.

The End Of My Candy Love
Warning!
Alright, so. This post will contain a lot. First of all, it's gonna be really sloppy. I'm very emotional person and I easily get attached to games, movies and stuff. I know it's a bit weird, but yeah, I'm a weird person. Anyway, that's why there's a warning: there's gonna be a lot of sloppiness, grammar mistakes (at least I think so, specially since english isn't my native languange) and it's probably going to be long. So, if you're intrested in reading my thoughts about everything - good luck.
First Adventure
I first heard about "My Candy Love" in 2015, six years ago. So, I was basically a baby (I'm pretty young). And I started playing a year after, I got totally obssesed with Lysander and I fell in love, seriously, haha. I was into writing back then, but I couldn't find any ideas on "what to write?" and MCL gave me just that - inspiration (that's most likely why I'm just a romance freak).
My Story
You know, I was a child so I couldn't really pay for AP, but I always found some kind of way to get them. But then I got my phone I just used money from that, geez, I was nuts. The old AP system was so iconic, looking for Nathaniel, finding Kiki, I'm gonna miss it.
Anyway, I got along with Castiel pretty well (which suprises me 'cause I found about walkthroughs in 2017, like year after, so maybe it was because I was a brat?), but I adored Lysander. Oh, I also loved Ken (I was so sad when he went away) and Nathaniel. After I met Armin, I liked him too.
Again, being a child and playing a game like this I came across all diffrent kinds of emotions. I was laughing, crying, dying from embaressment (this thing with Nath and locker room, aaa) and getting seriously mad (Deborah's arc, Priya, Charlotte). I remember impatiently waiting for new episode to come out or crying my eyes out during Lysander's amnesia plot. Jesus. I loved the way Castiel was teasing Candy, I loved this cute-clumsy Kentin, I loved the old Nathaniel, I loved Armin and most of all - I loved my precious Lysander. I adored the interactions between characters, how funny or cringy they were and how much fun I had. I even like this secret-dating plot even when it got on my nerves. I still remember staying up late to watch videos like "lysander illustrations" and stuff. I also really enjoyed reading MCL manga and I spent hours trying to translate it from Spanish to English or my native languange (funfact: I still haven't finished it! I don't know where to find those mangas) or trying to draw something from the game up ending up terribly failing. Anyway, I was crying during the prom thing, my Candy was so grown-up, I got emotional, haha. So, 40 episode came in. I was pretty excited 'because, me, being extremely naive (I got to say, I've never had a problem with Beemoov before, I started playing MCL in 2016 and Eldarya in 2017, so there were no major issues with them, only the price of PA, I think) thought that my Lysander is going to propose (I was a child, ok?) and maybe, there's going to be a second season with us living together. Haha, how naive I was. Whole episode 40, really got me tearing up, I was a wreck, seriously (When Kentin couldn't take Candy's bra off I lost it or this whole ananas thing in Castiel's route, omg). But I finished it feeling happy. I truly enjoyed spending my time on this game. But, then this whole university thing came out. And the fact, that Lysander, Armin and Kentin won't be with us foe the next season. I spent entire vacation crying (I was a kiddo, ok?) and being mad at everyone. I felt like I got robbed. It was horrible.
"A New Chapter"
I was one of these people who just couldn't accept the change. Not in the world. Never. They stole my Lysander, Kentin and Armin from me and changed AP system to some kind of bullshit. God, I was mad. Really mad. Seeing Castiel was quite nice, but I didn't fill the void of my baby. But, oh, my, God. When I saw Nathaniel I just couldn't believe. I said I was mad? Then I was furious. I really liked the old Nathaniel, he had his own vibe, his backstory, his character and it was just, damn, amazing. But they changed him completely, for what? They wanted the second Castiel? Yeah, they got it. Priya as a love interest was quite a good move, tho. I even though I didn't like her (in highschool or in university) I liked the idea of adding a female interest. But the thing that hurted me, was the fact that Lysander was taking care of the farm. Like, no! He didn't want that. He didn't like the countryside. He had such a potential to become a author and Beemoov didn't let him. God, that broke my heart. Anyway, I didn't spent a single penny on MCLUL, but I have to say - I kinda enjoyed it. You know, it was the guily-pleasure kind of thing. I didn't like it as much as I liked highschool, but there were some good or funny moments. I loved Rayan's kiss scene. I adored Chani. Or Hyun making us watch "Toy Story". Nathaniel's ulgy green hair or all these crazy threesomes. I liked it. Kinda. I hated Nath tho. The ending, hm, it was okay, I guess? I do feel sort of nostalgic thinking about it 'cause I got some nice memories from it, in the end. But yeah, going on.
Love Life
Oh. My. Lord. I was so sceptical about it. Like, I was sure that, at this point they're going to do "My Candy Love Mid-Life Crises" next or some other shit. But in the end, I "kinda" like it. It wasn't good like highschool or fresh like university, but I was nice to see new chapters with our annoying-cringy Candy, that I love (btw, I started playing other otome games and I realized that Candy wasn't that bad). Meeting Eric was nice, even tho, this whole cheating plot really got me ragging. Like, damn, Beemoov, seriously? And if you going this, why not with old LIs? Just kidding. Anyway, I truly enjoyed meeting Dan and Eric, the two of them were quite a characters. I won't forget them, hah. I was happy with single ending, 'cause I think about it as a "open ending" when my Candy can go back to my baby and everything's going to be alright.
Regrets & Complaints
Now, now. Where do I start? AP system was a freaking nightmare. Replacing old Nathaniel with some kind of weird Castiel was a nightmare. Removing Lysander, Nathaniel, Armin and Kentin was a nightmare. Not finishing plots was a nightmare. And why in the whole Love Life I haven't seen Amber once? Why Alexy never mentioned Evan like they're not brothers? Why Castiel doesn't care that I was dating his bestfriend? And why, in the world, after changing the system finding Kiki is so damn easy? Why AP is so expensive? So many questions!
All The Good Times
But, I got to say. I will never forget this bitchy Castiel, cookie-monster Ken following us around. Or cute Nathaniel. Castiel buying Candy some kind of weird McDonald's. Or Lysander's parents exposing him having crush on Candy. Or seeing Kentin kissing Amber (ew). This super akward-funny sex ed lesson. Deborah's arc and losing my shit over it. Or Thomas (this weird child) stalking my Candy and her LI in the park. And Lysander asking us how to hide a body, aaa. Or Armin telling us he loves us. Or Kentin. And Cookie ripping this huge teddybear apart. Or the water fight in Kentinâs spin off. And crushing on Alexy and later on finding out heâs gay. Or spin-the-bottle game and Lysander getting jealous. Or Dake, being a creep for entire game straight. Or guessing what was guy's surnames. And for sure, I will never forget this demonic Kiki dog.
What it worth it?
In the end, yes. Have I ever told you that I want to become a professional writer? Silly dream, I know, but writing is a huge passion of mine, and well, my first story was based off My Candy Love (it is cringy as hell, but I feel kinda nostalgic thinking about it). All these years spending on playing game that I wasn't supposed to be playing was amazing. It was one of the best experiences I had in life and I will never, ever forget that.
What now?
Well, Beemoov is working on a new game and I'm kinda optimistic. I know, it's really naive of me, but I want to believe that they won't f*ck this up, this time. And going back to Sweet Amoris, well, I truly missed this place! And the teachers... And Kiki. I wonder, when it will be released and will Beemoov finally open up about telling us surnames and ages of love interests. Anyway, I want to believe they learnt from their mistakes.
In the end. Thank you, My Candy Love, for creating so many memories. I will be forever grateful.Â
(I just re-read this post and it seems like I have really love-hate relationship with this game)

Slipping through my fingers
Synopsis: While waiting for Bucky to arrive Zemo reflects on the past, remembering time he spent with his family and when he found them after the Sokovian attack
Warnings: Mention of death, blood, guns, dark imagery, this is a very sad fic, includes a scene from episode 5

Author's note: This isnât a fic that involves a reader this time, I wanted to write about scenes with Zemo and his family as every time I think about it; it makes me sad and I havenât seen anything like this done yet. Recommended you listen to sad music while reading if you want to feel even more pain. Sorry if this makes you cry.
Masterlist
Screams echoed throughout the hospital room, bouncing off the walls. Nurses rushed around grabbing towels and rushing towards the bed. A man paced back and forth. He ran his hands through his hair in stress as he kept looking over at the hospital bed.
âHelmutâ she whispered
Instantly he was by her side. She raised out her arm, palm open wide. He clasped it, giving a tender kiss on her knuckles. âIâm here, my loveâ he confided as she clenched her eyes. She let out an ear-piercing shriek, clenching his hand tightly as she squeezed.
After a few minutes she exhaled, and the sound of a baby crying filled the room. The nurses wrap the child up in a clean towel, wiping away as much blood as they could before handing it over to the women.
âA boy!â they say
The woman smiled down happily as the baby wriggled in her arms. She lifted her arm to tickle him as her husband wrapped his arm around her shoulders, smiling at his son. She looks to him and holds up the baby, offering him to Zemo. He carefully picks up the child, holding him as if he was the most fragile thing in the world.
âYour heirâ she whispers as she watches them, a sweet smile gracing her lips.
Tears of happiness slip down Zemoâs face as he looks at his son, his smile as wide as it could be. He leans down and places a gentle kiss on his sonâs forehead. Turning back to his wife, he presses a kiss on her forehead as well and hands their son to her.
âOur son, my beautiful baroness,â
Sirens echoed in the street. Though it was days later since the attack, dust still fell as if a reminder of how everything has crumbled. Fallen down.
Footsteps thudded across the pavement. His eyes scanned the wreckage of once his summer house, away from the city. He could feel people staring. They recognized him. The baron. But in a matter of a few days, he had lost any power he had. Now he was one of them, suffering because of the attack, desperate to find his family.
He called out their names. His father, wife, son. There was no answer. Just people staring at him.
He asked them if they had seen anyone else. They shook their heads.
Angrily he walked forward, grabbing the rocks, determined he would find them alive under the rubble.
They had to be alive. They had to be.
âTonight I am a father!â Zemo declared, sitting down on the lavish seat next to his father.
âAnd I am a grandfather. I think a drink is in orderâ his father chuckles, pouring out whiskey into two glasses, placing the bottle back into the glass cabinet. He hands the drink to his son and they give a toast.
âTo a long and healthy life for your son,â his father exclaims
âCheers!â Zemo shouts, clinking his glass with his fatherâs then eagerly drinking.
His father sits back in his armchair, getting comfy and exhaling happily. He glances at his son, smiling warmly.
âWhat name have you chosen?â
âCarl. After Grandpa,â
Zemoâs fatherâs eyes glossed over with tears after hearing that name. His smile tightens as he reaches over to embrace his son.
âYour mother would be proud,â
Zemo hugs him back tightly, burying his head in his fatherâs shoulders, enjoying the comfort the embrace brought to him, as if he himself was a child again.
âThank youâ he whispers to his father, âThank youâ
After hours of searching, he could see them. The breath leaves his lungs, an inhumane noise falls out from him. He rushes to his fatherâs side, not caring at how the dirt clung to his clothes, the blood staining them.
His father was hunched over, his arms wrapped around two bodies. Blood stained his head. It trailed down the side of his face, tinting the floor and a rock. A piece of ceiling that had fallen down.
A sob was pulled from Zemo, his eyes clouded with tears he could hardly see. His hand was raised to his mouth, trying to keep everything in. His other hand brushes over his fatherâs head, wanting to feel his warming embrace one last time, but the skin was cold, clammy. Dead.
His eyes moved further down.
Zemo walked into the kitchen, grinning as he saw the situation before him. His son sat in a baby chair, the remainders of his breakfast split all over the table. His wife was also covered in parts of his breakfast. She held a rag in her hand, attempting to clean up the mess Carl made.
âI see weâve had quite the disaster this morningâ Zemo jokes, walking over to his son, placing a kiss on his head. He pulls out a tissue of his coat pocket and wipes the rest of the breakfast off Carlâs lips.
âCarl has decided he now hates porridge,â
âI donât blame him. Why have porridge when there are so many other things you can have for breakfast that taste much better,â Zemo says, stepping over to stand in front of his wife, âLike for example, you,â he adds quickly giving his wife a peck on the lips.
âHelmut!â his wife exclaims, looking around the room flustered. âNot in front of Carlâ
âI had not realised he suddenly understood the whole English languageâ he said glancing back to his son who was staring at them, his eyes sparkling and a giggle coming from him.
Zemo turns back to his wife, a smirk on his lips. He raises up the tissue and rubs the porridge off her face. Her eyes flicker to his thin lips, then back to his warm chocolate eyes.
âOh Helmutâ she purrs, warmth flooding her.
Zemo raises his hands to cradle her face, pressing a longer, passionate kiss to her lips. Her arms wrap around his abdomen, tugging him closer to her. He draws back from the kiss, instead burying his head into her neck, kissing it as he wraps his arms around her back, resting on the back of her head, gently stroking her hair.
âI love you so much darlingâ he sighs, inhaling the sweet smell of her strawberry tainted perfume.
âI love you to Helmut. For forever,â
Her hair was matted with blood, her skin deathly pale. Bruises ran down her arms, down her neck.
Zemo pulled her out from under his father. He whispered her name, shaking her.
âPlease,â he begged, âPlease wake up,â
But she didnât.
A scream wrenched from his throat. Hot tears spilled from his eyes. He buried his face into her hair, letting all the pain out. His heart plummeted, shattering inside his chest. He didnât care who was watching, who was taking photos, videos. He just wanted her. But she was gone.
âCome on, itâs bedtime for you,â Zemo declares, gripping his sonâs hand and leading him to his bedroom.
Zemo helped Carl into his pjâs then settled him into his bed, tucking him in.
âDad, Iâm scared of the monster under by bed,â Carl whispers
Zemo tilts his head looking at his son, âThe monster under your bed?â he whispers back, leaning towards his son
âYeah! I think itâs going to eat me,â
âWell, we canât be having that can we,â Zemo claims, âIâll look under the bed to see if I can spot anything,â
Carl holds his breath as Zemo dips his head down, searching under the bed. He stays under there for a few moments till,
âROARâ Zemo shouts suddenly jumping up and at Carl, maintaining his hands in claw shapes and opening his mouth wide to look scary. His son shrieks and Zemo instantly goes to tickle him, making Carl laugh hysterically.
Finally, they settled down and Zemo rested his head on the side of his sonâs bead, leaning on his side on the floor.
âThat was mean dad!â Carl claims, crossing his arms as he glares at Zemo, but he struggles to keep a smile off his lips.
Zemo chuckles, smiling warmly at his son, âSorry Carl, but I can confirm there is nothing under your bed,â
âBut what if it comes back at night?â
âIâll always be here to protect you, son. You know that,â
Zemo glances around the room and his eyes land on the pile of his sonâs superheroes action figures. He leans over and picks up Iron Man off the heap and hands him to his son.
âBut while I am not in the room Iron man here will protect you,â
Carl smiles, hugging the toy tightly.
âDo you think Iâll get to see the real Iron man one day?â he begs.
âIâm sure I can arrange something,â Zemo says, âNow you need to go to sleep or mummy will be upset with usâ
Zemo leans over and tenderly puts a kiss on his sonâs forehead. He walks away from the bed and glances over one last time at the bed, watching his son gently fall to sleep. He smiles to himself and presses the light switch off.
His little hands were still clutching her body. His once smooth dark brown hair was messy, unkept. His favorite t-shirt, with the dinosaur on, was torn. Stained. Zemo clung to him tightly. He gripped his son in his arms, but his son wasnât there anymore.
Zemo didnât even try to suppress his shrieks of agony. The sound burst from his throat. The sound of complete and utter grief.
âCarl,â he wailed, âMy son. Please,â
He didnât even know what he was asking for anymore. For time to go back? For revenge? All he felt was the pain. His eyes squeezed closed, not wanting to see the ghostly face his son still had. He crumpled on the ground beside his wife. His son still cradled against his body.
Slowly he opened his eyes, wiping the tears away. Something red caught his eyes. Beside the bodies was an Iron Man action figure.
Zemo reached a hand out and picked it up. His jaw clenched in hatred as he glared down at it. Using the last bit of strength he had, he threw the toy to the floor shattering it into a thousand pieces.
Years later, Zemo found himself at the same spot where he had lost everything he cherished. Before him stood a statue. The memorial sculpture to all the lives that were lost. His family. There were no flowers by it. He should have brought flowers.
An exquisite landscape surrounded it. Though if he reflected back on it, Sokovia had always been beautiful. Heâd just taken the scenery for granted.
He was waiting for the end he knew was coming. Any minute.
He was grateful in a way. He got to appreciate life for one last time. Enjoy what it was like being a Baron again just for a moment. And now he has to go home. Soon to join his family. To see them again.
As he stared at the statue, he could hear footsteps approaching. They finally stopped beside him.
âI thought youâd be here sooner,â he says, taking one last look at the memorial before him. He turns his head slightly towards Bucky, then looks down to the ground to gather his words.
âDonât worry. Iâve decided Iâm not going to kill you,â
âImagine my relief,â
Bucky moves the gun as Zemo turns towards him, but Zemo already knew he had it. It was Bucky, after all. The winter soldier is still inside of him.
If these were his last moments, he could at least provide some advice to Bucky, though he doubted Bucky would listen. Heâd grown fond of Bucky and Sam with the time they spent together and he knew them well enough to know they wouldnât listen, but it was the least he could do to help.
âThe girl has been radicalised beyond salvation,â Zemo says, stepping towards Bucky.
âI warned Sam, but he didnât listen to me. Heâs stubborn as Steve Rogers before him. But youâŚâ
Zemo studies Bucky for a second, curious about his reaction, but Bucky remains impassive, expressionless. âOne thing they had trained him forâ, Zemo thought.
âThey literally programmed you to kill. James, do what needs to be done. Karli has people everywhere and there is only one way to make sure she cannot continue her mission.â
âI appreciate the advice. But weâre going to do it our own way,â
Zemo chuckles slightly, looking away from Bucky. A slight melancholy in his voice, âYeah. I was afraid you would say thatâ
There was a moment of silence between them, They both knew what was coming. What had to be done.
Zemoâs eyes flicker down to the gun as it clicks again. He perceived what was to happen, but now the moment was here, he could feel fear creep up on him. It crawled into his broken soul. He let out a shaky breath as he brought his gaze back up to Bucky as he raised the gun.
Zemo started down the barrel at Bucky, his gaze unwavering. Though he feared it. It was what he wanted.
He nods at Bucky signaling. It was okay. He would see his family soon.
Bucky pulled the trigger.

okay so shout out to @caitsyoiâ for this post, which prompted a search to try and figure out the umbrellas (only thing i could think of was umbrellas being there the first time and last time they were in Jackson together but that is a stretch) and led to an entirely different discovery about just how much detail went into Ellieâs trauma.
I made a separate post because this gets super long and donât want to detract from the original goal of the post with a rambling hugely unrelated tangent. So go check out all caitâs in game detail posts cause holy fuck are they good good details.
Anyway details about Ellieâs trauma manifesting that might have been missed under the cut:
The photo of Ellieâs flashback set my brain off. Iâve stared at this game far too long and I distinctly, vividly remembered a different door in my mind. I panicked because my memory is shit so when I know i remembered something and there is proof that contradicts it I have to double check. So I looked up the door in the chalet and my dudes, my fuckinâ DUDES! Naughty Dog has done something, cause I didnât misremember the wrong door: Ellieâs brain gave her an entirely different door.
Here is the door Ellie actually goes through just before Joelâs death scene (and the one I remembered):
And here is the door that we see in her PTSD flashback:
Her recollection of events when compared to the actual event becomes a fucked up Spot the Difference game. The handle, something she physically grabbed has changed as well as the design of the entire door. Which is something that happens with PTSD. And now Iâll lead you through my thought process, cause I processed all the wrong things but itâll make sense I promise so the info is staying in.
-So Iâll admit, I got real excited and spent almost and hour scouring gameplay videos scrubbing and pausing trying to find the door in Ellieâs flashback. Initially thinking it was a different door she couldnât get through from some other traumatic point in the game. Was it a door in Joelâs house? No. What about her door in Jackson? Nope. Hmm. Maybe, I thought, it was in Part I. How fucking brilliant would that be, to tie in some other big moment of upset from the first game with this moment here in the second game and show the lasting effects of trauma and how it doesnât go away completely. It wasnât a door she went through around Tess, or Sam and Henry. David! It could be the door she escaped him through! No dice. Left Behind! Riley. And the answer to that friends is that a âyesâ would be a biiiiig ol stretch:
Sort of similar handle but itâs still too different to be the correct door details. Still there could be some overlap.
I got stumped and then my brain kicked in and reminded me, âHey remember how trauma affects memory, how you can remember certain details of what happened that day, but your shoes are never right?â and I was like âWhat the fuck are you on about brai- oooooh fuck youâre right.â
-Naughty Dog, layered her trauma in a way that we might not have noticed because depending on difficulty, itâs about 15 plus hours in between these two scenes (plus personal breaks which could be days or more at at time).
Ellieâs traumatic memory of that moment doesnât just replace details of the door, her mind pieces things into the scene that never existed. Sights and sounds, possibly the smell of blood given her journal about the boar. The blood and Joelâs screams turned to him calling out for her, being the most notable change we recognize ourselves, a manifestation of her guilt and failure to help Joel. Itâs draws your attention and in the moment, entrenched in Ellieâs pain with her itâs all we can really focus on.
Look at the photo above and compare it to the one below. How many differences can you find?
-Memory is a weird, complex thing. With the most basic knowledge of how trauma affects your memory, Iâm going to dumb it waaaay down to my level and do my best to explain:
The process of storing a memory involves that primal part of your brain that recalls and collects the moments you felt fear and of danger, itâs survival and how you survive this part allows you to remember the next time âOh hey, maybe I should not have put that metal fork in a light socket. That fucking hurt the last time I did that.â The process also involves the part of your brain that serves as a librarian of memory, storing and cataloguing details of events in bits that can be put together like a puzzle. When shit goes down your brain focuses on the âOH SHIT DANGERâ more that it focuses on making the pieces of the puzzle. So later when your brain recalls the event you got pieces missing.
You donât know what your brain will remember after a traumatic event. The memory itself will be the result of those two parts of your brain making a final product, which is almost always a deeply negative emotional memory. Encountering anything that reminds you of the event, like the sound of a boar dying or a shovel falling over onto a bucket, your brain begins triggering that flight or fight response because last time this meant danger fuck, looking at the bigger picture for context clues.
During a flashback your brain will try to fill in the gaps however it can to complete the puzzle even if it means using pieces from another puzzle that fits. Little details that might not be noticeable once the picture is completed and you are looking at the final product.
-The moment here seen here shows that her brain worked to create a memory with, some correct details from that day and some details to fill in the gaps. She gets the umbrellas, a painting, something hanging off the coat hanger, a box, a pair of boots, how there was a storage bench of sorts.
Her memory omits the white gloves, the baseball cap, the color of the umbrellas, the photo in the frame, the contents of garbage on the floor. It adds smudges on the top of the box, changes the door entirely along with the bloody signs of a struggle that never happened smeared from under the door along with Joelâs screams.
One of the biggest details that got me, is the building here. Because to me it looks like an approximation of a building weâve seen in Part I. Either an old statehouse in Boston or a building on the UEC campus (Go Big Horns)
Her brain is filling up the scene as best as it can, taking details from other moments and replacing the fuzzy bits. The puzzle has to be completed. How many nights did she stay awake post flashback trying to fit the pieces of her memory with what she just saw in this vivid reliving of that moment. These little details show how deep, how damaging Joelâs death was.
Sometimes, with trauma and memory the details you do remember are ones you wouldnât think you would even notice in the moment. Like a broken fuse box and the switch of a light, the way the wallpaper cracks and peels.
These are just the things replaced about the stairway, and the moments leading up to the event. There might even be things we never get to see in the flashbacks she may have. Being in the room during Joelâs death, waiting next to Joelâs body while Dina rushes off to get Jesse might go differently in her mind than what actually happened.
What happened vs. what Ellie remembers, weâll never fully get to know. (Not that we need to know every fine detail of her trauma.)
I did wonder briefly if she remember it right for the first time on the beach? And after watching a few scenes over and over. No, sheâs remembered that moment with crystal fucking clarity since Dina found her on the chalet floor. She canât not forget the new hole in Joelâs skull, the sickening way his eye stares at the floor, out of focus, out of light. Her brain has formed a memory around those details, itâs where all her attention went. She might not even be able to recall the room at all beyond the spot where Joel died. Or she might remember everything. Itâs hard to tell with trauma.
If you pause on Joelâs face before she fights Abby, really look at his eyes, you can see why Ellie canât sleep why she canât draw his eyes anymore. She canât close her own eyes without seeing his dead ones. Thatâs why the memory of Joel pulls her out at the end. She can remember his eyes bright and alive again. Thatâs the moment of hope that she can recover, itâs going to take a lot of work given the fact that dealing with mental illness in the world requires adaptation to what is available. Itâs still possible for her to live and we see that she understands that as she leaves the guitar behind and heads off the farm to an unknown.
The depth of nuance to Ellieâs trauma has continued to surprise the more thatâs uncovered. Naughty Dog and Ashley worked extremely hard to portray PTSD and dealing with it going untreated as accurately as possible and Iâd say theyâve put the effort in. Because the details that say the most are the ones that often go unnoticed.
#ellie x trauma#i'm seriously blown away by the details in this game#these are literally blink and you'll miss it#but they put them in to show how deeply affected ellie is#instead of just saying she is#i probably spent way too long on this post#a good hour was spent trying to find a fucking door before i realized what was going on#i was up til ass o clock trying to write this before i realized it was nonsense#and then figure out what the fucki was on about#this morning#hopefully this version makes sense#also a lot of what i said is my repeating what's been told and explained to me#so if i misrepresented anything plese correct me#papa is back baby#the analysis of us

Helia and Tecna friendship headcanons? -lambofzenith
AHHHHHHHHHH okay so
helia is really bad at technology right? pretty much anything that isn't covered in red fountain lessons, he's a complete no-go at. tecna takes it upon herself to try and help him understand basic technology a bit more and it goes so wrong. helia is literally the mom that squints their eyes and holds their phone away from their face while using One pointer finger to type everything. tecna hates it so much.
helia naturally doesn't understand a single thing that comes out of her mouth when she's talking technology but he still supports her nonetheless
helia is surprisingly rational most of the time! he's a firm Push All My Emotions Down And Then One Day I'll Die kind of person so even during really stressful missions, he's good at keeping a level head about things. tecna really appreciates this and it's not rare to see her, helia, and timmy discussing mission-related strategies During The Middle Of A Fight
tecna has a tendency to talk while she works (only noticeable around people she's comfortable with though) but she gets a little self-conscious about it. she knows it's not Bad or anything, but it doesn't seem Right either so she tries to keep quiet most of the time. helia on the other hand is so used to working while it's noisy that he's totally chill with it. they've gotten used to just vibing in the same room, working on their own things, and not actually talking to each other during it. they're comfortable around each other :) helia doesn't mind when she rambles out loud and tecna doesn't mind him pacing around the room every five minutes. symbiotic relationship.
tecna doesn't like talking about what she went through in the omega dimension, even with timmy. however, she does occasionally draw things out when she really needs to vent and can't think of any other way how. she's always been good at sketching due to her background in designing gadgets so this wasn't a weird transition for her. helia told her about this anonymous place for artists to submit their art with absolutely no names attached and after checking to make sure it was legit and she was completely safe, she started to submit one or two a year. she doesn't like to do it often but it does help to sort of "get it out" without actually talking about it.
while helia is notoriously Bad at video games, he does actually like the more "physical reality" ones (think that virtual reality tecmy scene!) mainly because it feels close enough to real life that he doesn't need to rely on just technology to do it. tecna and helia often have very competitive gaming matches but specifically within those kinds of games otherwise, he's really bad at it and she gets annoyed that he can't remember any of the buttons.
speaking of competitions, helia has an inner bet going on of How Much Can I Pretend To Not Know Jackshit About A Specific Technological Topic Before Tecna Notices. what he doesn't know, is that tecna knows he does this and has her own inner bet of How Long Can I Explain This Specific Topic Before Helia Gets Bored And Moves On. so far, the score is mostly even, with helia only winning because timmy isn't aware of this mental battle and will often jump in to explain things too. helia is very smug about this and tecna can't say anything to timmy otherwise she loses the fight that no one actually set firm rules on.
timmy is just really happy that his two best friends are also friends and sometimes he tries to invite helia and flora on their dates. tecna is okay with this only because she thinks it's funny. florelia were also okay with it but started to not be because they realized that their version of a date and tecmy's version of a date was extremely different. they've started to come up with increasingly ridiculous excuses for why they can't go and so far timmy is the only one that hasn't noticed. poor timmy, he genuinely thinks flora's best friend cactus is sick and needs care đ
when timmy isn't available, helia will call tecna for any technology related issues he's having. on one hand, she likes that he trusts her and can rely on her, on the other hand, she's told him ten separate times not to leave his computer running all the damn time. (tecna: please turn the computer off when you're not using it. this will immensely help solve all of the problems you've been having. helia: okay so i'm gonna leave it on all the time?). he's not trying to be difficult though. he just forgets everything and assumes it should work regardless (he a little stupit).
roxy gets so much gender envy from both of them and it confuses her all the time. they have no idea what a gender envy is though and they're mostly just wondering how they stop giving it to roxy since it seems like it agitates her??? help please???? researching the matter doesn't help and it ends up becoming a meme on winx stan twt because tecna made a very official and serious post asking about the severity of "gender envy" and needing to know how contagious it is. now whenever either of them posts, earth teens just comment gender envy at them. helia still doesn't know what it means.
they don't watch movies/tv together but they will binge-watch the same shows and then talk about them later on. tecna's formatting is still very formal and functional meanwhile helia bounces off multiple points and forgets to make a conclusion. he stresses her out so much.
helia notices when tecna has stayed up too long for too many nights and will occasionally send her a "please sleep" message when he knows timmy is already asleep and can't do it. she doesn't always listen but sometimes she will, but not before sending the same message back because why the fuck is he up at this hour huh dumbass?????
tecna has a pet bird and helia has multiple cats and they absolutely cannot be in the same room together. her bird is constantly trying to fight his cats and while they're usually well behaved, he's genuinely scared they're gonna try to eat it (tecna: stop calling my bird an "it"; helia: stop putting your bird near my cats đ)
they actually don't like hanging out when one of them is upset. they both have a hard time talking about their emotions (for different reasons obviously) and they always end up feeling like they have to say something when they're together. they just really prefer hanging when they're both in a good mood or at least calm. whenever one of them gets upset, they stop hanging out together until that person feels better.
connected to the last point, you'd think that would mean they don't know a lot about each other, but they surprisingly do! they're both relatively observant people (tecna gets better every year) and they're actually really good at figuring out why the other is upset and what would help. they just don't talk about it.
although, on a similar note, the one time they did have an emotional talk, it was about timmy. tecna was feeling upset again and worrying over whether or not she's "too logical/not emotional enough" and it was the one time where she actually allowed herself to hang out with him while being upset. they had a genuine heart to heart about things and especially about how she's way too hard on herself. they thought it would be awkward since they actively avoided this kind of thing but it wasn't! it went very naturally and helia even teared up a bit. he's very proud of her and the effort she makes every day and since that talk has been much more vocal about it.
when they went to earth in s4, they both spent way too much time learning about Earth Things; tecna about earth media (canon), and helia about animals since that's what flora was talking about. he started calling tecna "chip" after that because chipmunks reminded him of her. she disagrees with this assessment and he refuses to admit he mixed up chipmunks and squirrels. he still calls her chip to this day, and fortunately, it's grown on her. unfortunately, he calls timmy "chip" too, and now it's a hassle to figure out who he's talking to.
helia is surprisingly interested in zenith technology despite not understanding it all! he enjoys walking through the streets of zenith with tecna while she proudly points things out so he can go "ooo aaa" at everything. sometimes she tries to explain how things work and his mind starts playing elevator music automatically. tecna has gotten really good at knowing when helia is just. brain empty no thoughts because she recognizes the Empty look in his eyes. she enjoys catching it live and trying to figure out why he's just. not thinking (usually it's because he either doesn't understand something or got bored) (this happens often when sky starts talking) (sorry sky)
tecna is one of the winx (besides flora of course) that helia trusts the most. not in an emotional or friend way, but in a physical, we're on a mission way. she has good control of her magic and knows how to use it. she's good at thinking of strategies and applying them properly to the situation. and after the omega dimension, he had a newfound respect for her previously unknown to him survival skills. if he were even in severe danger, she would be the first winx he'd call (depending on the situation, she is occasionally ahead of flora).
helia is really bad at sharing details. he tends to go straight to the conclusion but doesn't share how he got there (adhd king đ) and tecna is the best person to call in when this happens. her logical questioning makes it seem so easy because she has the patience and knowledge to connect the dots and ask the right questions. when anyone else tries its more like (helia: i'm sitting in a pool of blood; person: uhm do you know where it's coming from?; helia: probably the stab wound; someone: did you get stabbed??; helia: oh yeah definitely.)
#lamb.. i love them so much...#the comedy potential with these two are just off the roof#winx club#winx tecna#winx helia#answered#lambofzenith#mine.headcanons#ugh ik i mentioned it on the trivelia post but this made me think of the backstory i made up for helia#because tecna plays a big part in it later on in the story#i have an entire rewrite that i refuse to ever actually write ajhgljadlg#but tecna plays a big part in helia's Main Arc in the story... and its so self indulgent i just really love these two#posting now.. when no one is awake.. ajkdhljaghdlj

Highlights and insights from the MELE launch cast & crew reunion panel
[rewatch link] [highlights & insights from the N7 Day 2020 reunion]
In case a text format is better for anyone (in terms of accessibility for example). Cut for length.
Some paraphrasing.
If anyoneâs interested in just the line-reading session, it starts at timestamp ~1:04:45.
In addition to the cast and crew from the N7 Day reunion, at this reunion also in attendance were:Â
Mac Walters (Project Director for MELE, Lead Writer of the og MET)
Melanie Faulknor (Lead Producer for MELE)
Crystal McCord (Producer for MELE)
Fred Tatasciore (Saren)
Seth Green (Joker)
Kimberly Brooks (Ash)
Ash Sroka (Tali)
This was the biggest reunion / meetup of the cast so far, and some of the cast and crew were meeting for the first time here.
Itâs been so long since the og MET that PW & KW are getting to watch their kids experience playing it for the first time
JHale doesnât play but since MELE sheâs been sneaking around Twitch jumping into peoplesâ MELE livestreams to lurk, watch and comment a bit
What drew Seth to the character of Joker? The whole concept of the game. He likes games and METâs mechanics (different trees of adventure, stacking reputation, choices carrying between games) at the time were the most sophisticated that heâd ever heard pitched. He thought this was new and exciting and wanted to be a part of it. For the character they cast him based on his personality traits (i.e. he sounds quite similar to Joker personality-wise)
Would Seth ever want to play Joker again if the opportunity presented itself? Sure, he loves the character, and if the writers ever had more things to explore/expand with Joker heâd be down for it.Â
Seth said that itâs a different kind of fan that approach him about this project. The fans have spent many many hours in an intimate exchange with âhimâ that he hasnât been a part of, but they experienced it nonetheless. âIâve hugged a lot of strangers, you know what Iâm saying? Itâs great, you get an interaction with fans that you never get as a performer in any other experienceâ
Seth has been a space guy since he was little, it inspires him
With the state of the world the way it is now [covid, masks etc], does Ash think Taliâs story will be more impactful now than it was before? Ash hopes so, and that anything they do here will have a positive impact on a bigger level. Ultimately thatâs why most of them do what they do, they want to reach people in deep ways. She hopes Tali is an inspiration in courage, bravery, standing up for whatâs right and thinking about the greater good
The [MELE I think] dev team had a last team meeting with Greg Zeschuk, one of the founders of BioWare, who they had invited to it. He was regaling them with stories of the inception of Mass Effect. âYou would imagine this sort of well-laid out, drawing boards everywhere... [but] it was basically just a napkin sketch in a Greek taverna with him and Casey going âWe wanna do a space operaâ, and then it took offâ
The process of creating lore through development is very organic. A lot of it comes from character and story development. It builds up over the course of the gameâs development. They did the codex entries at the end, the idea being that if they saved them for as late as they could, then they could pull from the story, characters and meaningful moments, and build them from there
PW wrote a bunch of the codex entries, elevator banter & lots of little bits of lore. They describe their time on the og MET as being a âbaby writerâ. They originally came in after Mac had back surgery and a junior writer was needed to fill in. âIt was really fun, it was us sitting in a room together going âWhat do you think a hanar or a krogan thinks about this or thatâ?â For a first project for them this was an amazing experience - the world building itself creatively with all these awesome people
They tried to add multiplayer in every game but only got it to work in ME3
They had a lot of plots laid out in ME1 that they called âglobal plotsâ. These were outside the core critical path and would take players from planet to planet, and were sprawling stories. They pulled out a lot of really interesting concepts and ideas from these that did make it into the game, but all of the global plots ended up getting cut due to time. Mac still has old diagrams and spreadsheets which detailed how all of these would have come together
Q. If you all had to take a long-distance road-trip with two squadmates, who would you take and why? PW: âJack and Mordin. Mordin because the drive would never lack for things to talk about at length quickly, Jack because you know you wouldnât pay for the room. You wouldnât know how youâd get the room, but you wouldnât be paying for it.â Courtenay: âIâd take Mordin because thereâd be singing, and FemShep just to have this thing - happen. In the room that I get for free.â JHale at this point fistpumped while saying âYeessâ [then I think what she said was âsteaming hotâ]
Seeing as asari are long-lived, how open is Ali to one day reprising her role as Liara? âSheâs a character very close to my heart, it was such a great opportunity. In some games that we work on the character has already been created or voiced by someone else, but this was really a group effort. When I first went into the booth, the only thing Iâd seen of her was a sort of like, rendering, and we slowly kind of came to her voice and presence. I would love to bring Liara back any time... hey, she can live a really long time guys. :Dâ
Caroline and people who do what she does (Creative Performance Director) are so critical to the quality of games. Caroline: âThis group of people are extraordinary. We were lucky to have such an extraordinary cast. Every [recording] session was new and challenging. It was a labor of love. Iâm tearing up right now thinking about it. Iâm remembering my last session with Jen, she was the last session, just sobbing and sobbingâ. When JHale was trying to say the lines of Shepardâs goodbye with Garrus, a line hit her like a tonne of bricks and she was in tears and was like âShepard does not cryâ. âIt took me a second, I got it out and took another run at it, it was in there but stuffed down as it should have been, and I finished the line [and there was silence in the booth when usually Caroline would have been talking to give direction or instruction] Did we lose her? Did Skype crash?â and it transpired that what had happened was that Caroline was in floods of tears
ME was the first time Keythe had ever come across branching dialogue. âNormally when we work on a script and itâs from page 1 to 100. In this it was get to page 5, then go back to page 2 and play it a little differently. The skill and the fun and joy of it was to be able to go back and play a scene in a different way, with different writing, with different outcomes. This was not only a challenge but a real treat. So to all the writers who dreamed up how this build-your-own-adventure plays out, you have my undying respect. It was a real pleasureâ
VEDA is a proprietary system that BW use to record the dialogue, which is the closest way of having it feel like having people in the booth together (itâs all digital and VAs get to hear the line someone else has done in that scene). Caroline really pushed for this because of the amount of time etc that was wasted due to lack of this sort of thing on ME1. William: âIt was a god send for me, thank you, getting to hear a cue from Jen or Mark.â Ali: âUs being able to bounce off each other helps make it more real. This for me was the most real acting experience on a game I had ever had - the writing being so good, Caroline helping us through, being able to hear each other.â JHale was always early coming in to record relative to the others so only got to use VEDA a few times - a bit of Liara content and the scene with Anderson towards the end. âThose two times, oh my god it was amazingâ. VEDA being a thing also helps from a scheduling standpoint
Seth and Tricia Helfer (EDI) only got to be in the booth actually together 1 time, to record/shoot a piece of promotional video. âWe actually got to record a scene together and we were like âoh my god this is the best thing everâ. It was great, even though I had to stand on a stool. Sheâs the bestâ
Seth:Â âAs an actor, the kind of opportunity to do this kind of material in games just didnât exist.â Fred:Â âOh, never! I had never had a villain part that was complicated like that. In a game? Never before, it was really interestingâ
Raphael always goes back to the fact that ME brought more women into gaming than any other game before it. âThe writing and the complexity of the relationships gave us so much ballastâ. âThis set this apart from running, shooting, gunning, lootingâ
JHale:Â âWhat I noticed in the times before when I got to be around fans, there was a huge hunger among women in the gaming world for something they could really jump into. They were starving for something which fed them what they deserved and neededâ
Mac:Â â[praising Caroline] Caroline would often come to us as writers and challenge us and say, as an example, âDo we really need another male character to do this? Why are we writing another male character for this?â She pushed that very early and to the betterment of everything we createdâ
PW:Â âKarin and Cookie and all of the editors across the trilogy, [were critical in] making sure that Shepard sounded consistent - [especially since] we had a large writing team, writers came and went, Mac is the only one with a significant writing contribution on each of the gamesâ
PW: â[on game dev] Itâs a process of getting hundreds of people pointed in the same direction, all believing that this is something worth doingâ
Ash:Â âHaving all the different possibilities and avenues, going back to play them all out in the different ways [really helped to round the character of Tali out and make her feel like a natural person]â.
VAs only get paid for the original recording sessions, not again (as in they donât any royalties or anything from something like the remaster)
In MELE, they left all the original credits at the end of each game in
Fred:Â âItâs creating in five dimensions [because of all the outcomes and relationships etc]â. Seth:Â âThe cool thing is that the audience feels that. Theyâre immediately struck by how dense, thought-out, prepared and planned the entire universe isâ
How was it for the new MELE devs coming onto this? Crystal:Â âI knew it [the series and fansâ love for it] was big, but I didnât know it was BIG! Working on MELE there was this infectious excitement. Being part of it was so exciting.â Melanie:Â âI came on at ME3, I had a 3 or 4 year honeymoon period with BioWare. Coming onto MELE, Iâm getting really emotional. One of my first meetings originally was going into a cinematic review for an epic Tali scene in ME3â. Crystal:Â âOn MELE, we had an hour or 2 every day where the team came together to play the game. In those reviews, a lot of the devs who worked on the original would tell all these stories. It was really fun to hear all the inside stories on MEâs creation and be a part of thatâ
DC:Â âShould this unit get vaccinated?â Ash:Â âOf courseâ
How do they think ME will be viewed in the next 10-20 years, what do they think its legacy will be? A piece of history, ground-breaking. It broke down some barriers and opened doors for people. Itâs a powerful, powerful community. Itâll continue to age quite well and be enjoyed by a new generation, itâs original and evergreen and thereâs a lot in it that people go back to. Thereâs a lot of universal things in it (personal experiences, like there will always be love, people fighting to belong, trying to make sense of their pasts etc)
JHale and Alix did the âI love you Shepard, now go save the world againâ Shep-Sam exchange and both got teary. It was then Sethâs turn to line-read: âJesus Christ, now that Iâm good and choked up, fucking messâ. Ali was also actually crying from it
Seth: âIt canât be overstated, this community is so large and global, it is one of the most powerful fandoms that Iâve ever been greeted with. Thank youâ. Ash:Â âItâs the most amazing group of fans ever. Weâre all so gratefulâ
Some funny anecdotes/stories:
PW didnât realize that Alix could do different accents. They remember a time when they were listening in the booth and an Alliance soldier was complaining about the gear had been given. They said âWow thatâs really good, who is that?â and the VO producer said âThatâs Alix, Patrickâ, âbecause she wasnât doing her [normal British accent but was doing a Californian accent instead]. Alix roasted me later for not recognizing her voice and never let me heard the end of itâ
Alix: â[on Samâs toothbrush] Carolineâs like, âSo then she pulls her toothbrushâ and Iâm like âWhat? Sorry? A toothbrush?â and obviously itâs funny now as everyone knows that Samâs thing is her toothbrush. Carolineâs like âYeah, youâve gotta like, flirt, over the toothbrushâ and Iâm like âWho wrote this - a frickin toothbrush, are you kidding me? Really guys?â ANYWAY. I was wrong and it worked. :Dâ
Fred:Â âI remember a 12 year old kid coming up to me and being like [flat tone] âOh yeah. I killed youâ.â
Keythe: âThe other assasin I play is Kellogg in Fallout 4. People come up to me like âOmg. I love you so much. And then I fucking KILLED you!ââ
Courtenay once went out to dinner in NZ with a few prominent people from the Game of Thrones cast. âEveryone around was making a big deal out of it like âOmg, itâs so-and-so from GoTâ. I was feeling a bit like âHi, Iâm here, just nobodyâ. And I looked around in the restaurant and there's one guy in the corner and heâs got an N7 shirt on and heâs just looking at me like [knowing look, does a peace sign]. And Iâm like âI got one! I love you guys!ââ
PW:Â âI have a question for the cast members, because I donât know if JHale has done this to all of you or if she just does it to the devs. Show of hands if Jen has ever made you do push-ups.â JHale:Â âItâs just you guysâ
Karin:Â âOne of my favorite editing files that I ever had was a ME file. It was before Seth was coming in for a session. I opened it up and it was just 20, 25 lines with the word âShitâ, over and over again, and I was like, âThis file is perfect, I donât need to do anything to it, have fun!ââ
Seth: âDidnât we do a track thatâs like 60 seconds of laughing? Escalating laughing? I donât know about other actors but for me getting into a laughing fit is kind of like trying to get into a crying fit, it takes the same level of commitment, you start to follow a path until like youâre hysterically uncontrollably laughing. I remember looking through the glass, and Iâm deep in it at this point, and I make eye contact, and I can see from the other side of the booth and theyâre like [making âokay you can stopâ now gestures] - âLike thatâs plenty, we got itâ and I was like âokay, okay [dying]ââ
JHale: âThe craziest thing Mark and I had to deal with was how many times we had to say âI should goââ. Mark: âWe also, Caroline and I tended to use that as short hand when I needed to go to the bathroomâ
The panel host: âThe first time I interviewed Ali was a decade ago. She did the âIâll flay you alive with my mindâ line halfway through, it was my first interview and I literally fell out of my seat [from being star-struck]â
Ash line-read Taliâs drunk omni-tattoo scene and in response DC said âI totally get why people wanna romanticize all these characters :Dâ. Karin: âWeâve had more than one person come up to us and show us actual tattoos that looked like thatâ
