so if this was a known old story among the siblings during their respective childhoods (which given their approximate ages would probably be somewhere around the mid/late 1940s) that once again gives the obtaining the gold enough timeline wriggle room to have occurred during the second world war

#umineko liveblog #ep1 reread #the only concrete fact we have is that kinzo was already rich by the time his children were born #wait. also the fact that genji has served kinzo for almost 50 years #so kinzo would have had the wealth for servants and the mansion by the turn of 1940 at the latest #so even if you discard some of this story's information as fabrication some other timeline facts still line up correctly here #since the only truth we have is that kinzo obtained the gold at any point in time before the birth of his first child #however this could be as short a timespan as only one year before krauss's birth #since from the perspective of a child years become generations #so the 'ancient story' they grew up on could have potentially happened only a couple of years before they were born #i so badly want to drill down to the exact circumstances of the gold bargain but i know the story will never give it to me
