one way i would change season 4 is to establish anna as a counter protagonist to castiel, maybe by introducing her earlier and making her more of an active participant. ideally you end up with a parallel that while the dean/sam team starts to fracture the anna/cas team starts to come together

i think dean would actually respond well to sam establishing boundaries after an initial period of being miette about it. dean understands that their relationship is miserable, but he has no idea what to do about it and is so broken down by events in later seasons that he is incapable of imagining a future in which things are different.

like, in what is and should never be, dean was like. ok i could do a life where sam doesn't necessarily live nearby but he keeps me updated as long as he's happy! yeah, this could be ok! i can do this!

by the end of 15 he's like. ha. i guess we will die in this bunker together. perhaps one day eileen will move in. i can't imagine sam having a family unit outside me unless i am literally dead.

something about the current tumblr spn experience that i find fun is that being offline for any period of time means you miss something insane that you could not have predicted. maybe an actor said something horrible. maybe 10 different people spontaneously started truthing for a ship with little or no canonical basis just for fun. you don't know. it's a fun little mystery box every time.

i love it when people tell spn bloggers to consume better media because baby i KNOW you aren’t following what’s happening here. every day someone is referencing susan sontag or gender trouble. there is a series of posts that compares supernatural to greek tragedies. i have seen supernatural gifsets with quotes from literally any prestige series we “should” be watching instead. we are watching them! but none of those things have a gay angel and some insane gender politics that accidentally made their straight male fantasy a closet case. hope that helps.
