finding someone’s delivery of a dialogue annoying is all good. that’s not the issue. the issue is people taking their dislike of a scene, couple, character, actor, performance and using that to be homophobic. the discourse around that scene isn’t just people saying oh Ii don’t vibe with it or I found it cringe. It’s literally people saying they wish violence upon the gay guy because he made kink joke when his bf was being vulnerable completely ignoring the fact that they were both vulnerable and buck is the one who sparked the kink joke and tommy followed lead. regardless of whether it translated or not, doesn’t warrant the violent reactions it’s been getting.
i promise you, and im not going to be nice or soft about this like i usually am because i dont have time, nobody and i mean NOBODY who says they dont like that scene because it made them cringe, because they thought the tone was off, or they thought it was weird, is being homophobic. maybe theres someone out there being homophobic about it but the venn diagram of queer people on tumblr/twitter who dont like this scene and people who are being homophobic because they dont like the bi buck storyline is two completely separate circles. the catastrophization of turning peoples reactions into problematic moral issues by 911 fans against people who disagree with them is honestly going to make me rip my hair out at this point. theres point blank nothing wrong with having no justification other than just "i hated that scene and the joke was bad" if someone feels that way theyre fully allowed to and it is not a moral failure on the part of people who dislike tommy. to make it into such is an immature way to try and put yourself above people solely because they hold a difference of opinion.
