I was gonna make this post way way earlier but I forgot lol but Uhm

I have played through the splatoon 2 story fully and am replaying it (for a future post bc a lot of the dialogue is rlly funny) and honestly while I absolutely loved it it makes me even sadder that splat 2’s story mode was kinda tossed aside (for valid reasons ofc) because it’s so Cool.

Excluding the gameplay, I think they did marie so well, because she sells the desperation of someone who’s got nobody she knows by her side. While she of course keeps the sassy attitude of sneak dissing her best friends (agent 3) and also telekinetically telling you to fuck off if you talk to her too much it’s very clear she genuinely cares so much about agent 4 and is so grateful they’re doing what they do.

these are only two screenshots of 8(?) of Marie randomly being really sentimental to 4 because this stranger chose to help her in her time of need rather than just ignore this GROWN WOMAN hanging out on a sewer drain

It’s like heavily emphasized multiple times that Marie could not be more grateful for 4’s help in retrieving not just the zapfish but also her cousin.

But then revealing that 4 knew about Callie the WHOLE TIME (I have a lot to say about this part but it’s mostly hc so) which is so KIND OF THEM???? this random woman recruits them into a secret military agency and hides the fact she rlly misses her cousin but they help anyway bc they WANT TO. (They didn’t even know either of them were famous btw) Marie shows a lot of gratitude toward 4 ESPECIALLY after the big reveal.

(You could make arguments for 3 being similar bc an old kook made them do it but this isn’t about them..)

And it’s not just being grateful for the one time, she genuinely enjoys 4’s company and wants to be better friends with them and chat after the zapfish and Callie are saved 😭😭😭

It’s so cute too, because 100%ing the game and even just being a little nosy is something that Marie picks up on, and remembers way later in the game. (More abt this later)

Speaking of said soldier! I think the way they characterized 4 via the actual gameplay rather than art/statements/whatever is so cool

4 doesn’t have many illustrations besides the chaos splatfest and that one group photo where they’re being funky in the corner (and the apartment) but I feel like the reason for that is the fact that a lot of Marie’s dialogue as well as how splatoon 2’s hero mode is structured/designed speaks a lot about how they wanted to represent 4.

From a realistic standpoint, of course splatoon 2’s story mode has to be more creative both prompt wise and secret wise. But it feels like the reason its that way is because both 4 and Marie are separate types of people from Craig and 3.

The bosses help a lot with this too, being more gimmicky and weird (subtracting stamp.) Octo shower and samurai being bosses where you have to either react well or change your positioning to effectively beat them. (Octo shower is my fave btw I loved fighting it the first time)

The level design also shines in this aspect because if I’m honest I remember none of the splat 1 levels significantly besides the few octoling ones. Splatoon 2’s levels are very detailed (and also insanely pretty) and have some rlly fun puzzles in a handful of them and even the more fast ones are a blast to play through

And then all the little extras (sardiniums and scrolls alike) are hidden so well and you usually have to go out of your way to find them and even the secrets that aren’t either of those things have substance

Small note, a lot of extras are also made so that it flows well with the levels design (like the first dualie request mission) which is also extremely fucking cool.

the way marie touches on those little discoveries is so smart too because it (as I said before) characterizes 4 as someone who loves to look for things even if it’s on a whim especially since the sunken scrolls in the game are so much harder to find than in splat1.

And the fact that unlike splat 1, you can (technically) 800% the game by playing EVERY SINGLE LEVEL WITH EVER SINGLE WEAPON TYPE. to me it feels like it deepens the fact that 4 likes to be really thorough. marie goes “you have a problem.” When you break like two hidden egg crates in this one level and it’s so great.

I love what they’ve done with 4, whether it was intentional or I’m over-analytical.

Nothing gets past them, looking in every nook and cranny whether or not there’s secrets to be found. They’re too nosy and thorough and they like to be around marie after completing missions, they don’t know who the squid sisters are, hate balloons, may or may not be ok, have impulsive secret finding, partake in many extracurriculars, can be needy at times, go with the flow and they apparently smell better than agent 3.

fave ship you have written about?

Calvak. I think it's partially because Rita & Casey are my top 2 fave characters, and I see a lot of myself in both of them. I really need to write some Poly!Calvak at some point.... but also because I do really believe that they would work together, esp post s9 when Casey's back from suspension. It also just makes me laugh because while Rita's the more dominant, the one doing the taking care of, spoiling and treating, she's like, literally 4 inches shorter than Casey and her being the smol one makes me laugh LOL.

And I haven't written about them yet, just shot off NUMEROUS hc's with @alexusonfire and that's Jackie Sharp x Elizabeth Keane. BUT, hear me out, it's *specifically* femme!Jackie and butch!Keane. Esp like, back in college.

okay I said my main one already so imma try to think of another one....

i think just hurt/comfort. i know it's not really a trope, but like, building up that love and happiness to rip it away when something angsty happens and then (hopefully) there's a happy reunion and admittance of love and everything's good.

any easter eggs you put ina fic that you hoped people would notice?

i'm not gonna lie... i sometimes do this by ACCIDENT. like, i'll throw something in while i'm writing a series i *don't* have outlined yet. then i decide the direction it's going and it turns out i was foreshadowing it the entire time without realizing.

Uhm? Escape had a lot of foreshadowing that y/n was a UC, and that she was from Chicago not Florida. Redemption I put little easter eggs in about Cody being important later on, and some people did pick up on that!!

Otherwise it's just me mentioning a character but not by name being in the background and 9 times outta 10 it's rita LOL.

the character i least understand: nah i understand them all weirdly well. altho i find that ben is so chaotic (he’s the wildcard) that he makes some decisions that leave me (and most people) like ????. i don’t consider it bad writing either, it’s obvious that ben is severely unstable. oh and also i had a little trouble understanding jack’s motivations& decision making processes, etc, until i realised that fucker ain’t neurotypical

interactions i enjoyed the most: oh wow there’s like forty bagillion characters in this show, i could never pick… hurley with anyone, miles with anyone, dan + char (they were their best around each other), kate and claire, dan + des, charlie + des, jack + kate for the most part, sayid with anyone, ben and locke

just to name a few

the character who scares me the most: no Fear but i’ll list some characters who gave me Distressed Feelings with their behaviour: ben, roger linus, anthony cooper, keamy, jack got scary during that dynamite scene. oh and jacob, his mother and his brother all have this odd coldness in their eyes. it’s wrong

the character who is mostly like me: hurley and jack, equally (i consider hurley to be my good aspects, jack to be my less-good aspects)

hottest looks characters: charlie and desmond in very different ways. i feel it wrong to not mention any ladies so charlotte & ana lucia too

one thing i dislike about my fave character:

ben: besides being the most immoral main character? with the murders? his possessiveness. espech with juliet but it affected his relationships with alex and locke too

charlie: his jealousy. it was the worst!!

daniel: he has One Flaw and it’s a really bad one: his recklessness. boy has little to no regard for his own safety and it’s fucked up

hurley: N/A. there’s nothing wrong with his personality/morals (hurley’s issues are more because of mentall illness and circumstances)

miles: be nice to your friends you little shit, they’re gonna die :(((

one thing i like about my hated character: 

keamy: uhm, he makes ben look better by comparison? (no joke, this is why they created keamy) also i like the idea of somebody so shitty to be on that boat with my science team because the dude is a conflict opportunity. ya know, for miles to be snarky. for char to be protective/defensive. for naomi to put him in his place. for frank to be on his sci-kids sides. to make dan more of a woobie. thats what keamy is for

jacob: he’s very important to the mythology of the show

eloise: her side of the story is sympathetic and tragic too. as a writer and audience member, i respect that. i also find that she is the most interesting of the LOST Abusive Parents Squad

the character i least understand: i can’t think of a main character so, uh, any rando who gets grossed or freaked out when they see hank, mystique or kurt

interactions i enjoyed the most: kurt & ororo, charles & hank, charles & erik, charles & logan, logan & rogue, bobby & rogue, erik & mystique

also a lot of interactions mystique has with charles or hank are like, painful or damaging. however they’re enjoyable for the character depth/flaws. plus… i love when charles and mystique get to be brother and sisterly!! awwh

the character who scares me the most: scary no. but apocalypse was pretty intense. like, super intense. (also that whole rape metaphor thing with charles)

oh wait omg i forgot stryker!! that dude is genuinely unnerving

the character who is mostly like me: CHARLES XAVIER, particular the mcavoy version (i’m young and emotional) so much. like, painfully so

in short: hopeful/idealistic, supportive, emotionally/mentally unstable, empathetic/compassionate to the point of severe pain, cries a lot, has an eye for babes and smarts. and if i could adopt all the outcasts in the world, i would

1. How did you discover BTS?

Well, I first heard of them through an account here on tumblr (i don’t remember her url, but it’s from the artist Laia López, @itslopez on ig) and she started to reblog bts (specially jungkook) and her drawings of bts were so cute and i decided to give it a go at the time but I didn’t pay enough attention to them I guess (STUPID ME) and then this year I don’t quite remember how I actually started to actively listen to bts but here I am! (I think it was because some other accounts I followed turned into kpop ones too and I think that Laia also was posting more about Tae and I got curious again and yeah!) 

2. When did you become apart of ARMY?

February this year. I’m a baby fan, I still have so much to learn and see/watch omg so many bangtan bombs I haven’t watched yet for example askfdghsgfhg

3. What was your first k-pop song from memory?

I think my first kpop song was either Fire or Dope, and it was like early last year, but I only got into kpop this year. I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT TOOK ME SO LONG OMG WHY DID I NOT PAY ATTENTION TO IT AT THE TIME?!?!

4. Do you watch anime? If so, what’s your favourite anime?

Not really, no. But I’ve been meaning to start watching! I really wanna watch Attack on Titan, I heard it’s really good.

5. How many biases do you have, who are they (kpop in general)? 

omg, okay SO:

for BTS Jimin is my bias, but Jin is wanting to share the throne tbh

then Wonho and Hyungwon (I really can’t decide and I honestly bias everyone in Monsta X most of the times)

in got7 is Mark and Youngjae (but Yugyeom and Jaebum are testing me……. and also i love Jackson’s humor and Jinyoung’s sass and BamBam is the cutest…… i basically love everyone okay)

Jae from Day6 and Chen from EXO (but i still don’t know much about them and their groups)

6. What would you say to your BTS bias if you ever met him?

there’s so much I would want to say to Jimin… but mainly that I love him a lot, that he genuinely makes me so so happy and I’d thank him for everything. I would want to tell him that he is so talented and hardworking and that everyone values him and he is worth so much. I’m so proud of him and I feel so happy for him and for everything he accomplished so far with his brothers. I would tell him to take care of himself, cause he’s health is important and I just want him to be happy and healthy.  But in reality i would just say something really short and shy like “I love you so much! Thank you for everything!” and just die of embarrassment ahahah 

7. Would you rather date or become best friends your bias? 

honestly don’t know ahah I first would like to think that he would like me enough to be my friend. Aaaaah i really don’t know but tbh it’s easier for me to imagine me dating Jin than me dating Jimin, idk why??? I mean thinking about dating Jimin is awesome but I something tells me we would work better has best friends

No, no one actually… Which is kinda sad tbh cause sometimes I wish I could talk about it with my friends and like share the excitement but they think kpop is weird. And even if they don’t like it, I wish I could talk about it, make references about it or even have bts/monsta x/any of my biases as my lockscreen/homescreen without hearing some dumb comment about it…. because apparently having the people/person that inspires you and makes you happy and that you love as your phone backgroud is something childish and weird -.- Even the other day, I had a monsta x home screen and a friend saw it and was like “uhm why do you have 1d has your background???” and I said it wasn’t and their response was  “oh they’re the 1d from korea” and another friend just said “that’s even worse” like why??? Why is it so bad? Even when they just ask “who is that?” like its not the question but the tone they use….  im sorry about the rant, but this actually makes me sad :( 

11. What k-dramas would you recommend to everyone? 

I don’t watch kdramas… 😥 I really want to tho… But I still haven’t had the time and I actually don’t know where to watch them or what to watch, so like if anyone wants to help I’d be really happy and love you forever!

hmmmmmmmm tough question……… I adore Blood, Sweat & Tears Korean ver. (cause it was the mv that got me into bts and I was mesmerized by it), but I NEED U and RUN are pretty awesome, specially I NEED U omg it always gets to me

2.Who was your first bias in BTS, and why did he catch your attention?? 

Rap Monster! Cause he was the only face I could recognize in all the mvs at the time and his lips and voice and just the way he rapped “peaches and cream, sweeter than sweet, chocolate cheeks, chocolate wings” just made me melt right then and there, I would literally go back on the mv just to listen to that part countless times

This question is hard, like really really hard and I’ve been thinking about it for a while now and there were several idols on the list ahahah but I think I would pick Jin, I just think he would be a really caring and supportive boyfriend, always there for you and always looking out for you. Pretty romantic and cheesy sometimes and I like that (even though I sometimes say that i don’t). His hugs would be the best, really affectionate too! Dad jokes, I love dad jokes tbh so yeah lots of those if we were in a relationship ahah. Also, I feel like he would be the type to buy you flowers and well I love love flowers! And not to forget that he cooks, so bonus points for that! (also i have this ideal date with him on my head that would consist on cooking with him and just being all lovey dovey and lots of laughs and !!!! aaskgfdjh) . 

Idk there’s a lot more about him that makes me think he would be a really great boyfriend but I would be here for ever if I wrote it all ahahah also some people say is vanilla in bed but i disagree okay!! I think he would be somewhat dom! an he would be into pet names okay?? okay!!

Jimin - black is the nº1 fav but i fell in love with Jimin when he had pink hair soooooo that one is also my fav ahaha (shoutout to the silver hair and orange hair too tho)

Jungkook - I love that black with purple tones or something that he had in Dope era, a lot!!

Tae - I really like to see Tae with light brown hair tbh he looks really cute like that

Yoongi - black hair on him it’s my fav look but i also really loved the blonde hair during Agust D

Hobi - i really like to see him with black hair but he looked really good with orange hair too
