Just watched the second episode of Star Twinkle Pretty Cure.
After the events of the last episode, we see that Lala and the others were able to land the ship safely, but due to the damage to the ship, it might take a while before it can fly again. Prunce points out that on the bright side, they found a Pretty Cure, and Hikaru asks just what a Pretty Cure is. Prunce explains how they are a legend known throughout the Galaxy, said to give light to dimmed stars and protecting the Twinkle Book.
Hikaru is excited, but Lala has her doubts. Fuwa goes to sleep inside the book, and Prunce offers to hold on to the book for safe-keeping, but Hikaru protests, pointing out that the book belonged to her, and promises to keep it and Fuwa safe. Needing a place to stay for the night, Hikaru invites the aliens over to her house. However, due to galactic laws, the aliens must try to keep themselves hidden from inhabitants of planets without the same level of space travel.
Hikaru shows them her room, explaining how it used to be her dad’s study. Lala shows some interest in Hikaru’s books as a way of gathering information. Hikaru’s grandfather shows up and comments that Hikaru didn’t greet him when she returned and about the state of her room. Hikaru goes to join her family for dinner, and later brings some rice balls for her alien friends. However, Lala has left, and Prunce informs her that she went to work on repairing the ship.
Working on repairing the ship, Lala asks the ship what her chances of becoming a Cure are, and the ship informs her that the chance is low. Lala is disappointed, and asks what Hikaru’s chances were. She is surprised when the ship informs her that Hikaru had the exact same odds of becoming a Cure before it happened. Hikaru shows up to offer Lala some food. Lala is initially skeptical, and shows that she already has some food she brought with her. Seeing Hikaru’s interest, she offers to let her try one. Hikaru likes it, and in return offers Lala a rice ball, telling her to at least give it a chance. Lala finally accepts it and nervously gives it a try, finding it good.
The two girls talk some more, with Hikaru showing her admiration of Lala’s ability to work on repairing the ship. Lala says it’s because she’s an adult, and Hikaru asks how old she is. Lala says that in Earth time, she’s about thirteen years old, which Hikaru points out is the same age as her. Lala reveals that by the standards of her planet, she is considered an adult.
Meanwhile, Kappard reports to a female superior, letting her know a Pretty Cure has been found.
Lala continues working on the ship the next morning, with Hikaru showing up to greet her. Lala explains that on her planet, people greet each other by touching sensors, with Prunce adding that Lala’s antenna can emit electricity. Hikaru asks if the three aliens were always together, but Lala explains that she only met Prunce and Fuwa recently. Prunce reveals that he worked for the twelve Zodiac Princesses, before their homeworld was attacked by the Notrayders and fell into darkness. The princesses sent them to seek help, before using their power to try to stop the Notrayders. Because they exhausted their powers, the princesses were scattered, and Prunce hopes Hikaru will be able to help find them. Lala still has her doubts, though.
Hikaru later brings the aliens over to the hill near the observatory place to take a break and look at the view of the area, where Mr. Ryuu comes across Lala, who realizes only Hikaru can understand her. Hikaru nearly blurts out that Lala came from space, before backtracking and saying she’s a friend of hers. Ryuu tells the two to have fun and leaves. Lala wonders why Hikaru became a Pretty Cure, since she only just met them and Lala had been with Fuwa longer. Catching on to Lala’s feelings, Hikaru asks if Lala wants to become a Pretty Cure too.
Hikaru suggests that Lala give it a try, but Lala believes it can’t possibly be that easy, and explains what the ship’s data told her. Hikaru points out that while the ship’s A.I. may be able to make the guess based on past events, it can’t predict actually predict the future. While the two are discussing it, Kappard and his mooks show up to try to take Fuwa again. Hikaru transforms, and tries to fight them off while Lala tries to get Fuwa to safety, but Kappard and his minions keep catching up to her. Prunce tries to get Lala to higher ground while Cure Star deals with the bad guys. Cure Star tells Lala to become a Cure, but Lala still insists it can’t be that simple, with Kappard agreeing the same miracle won’t happen twice.
Cure Star keeps insisting that Lala can do it if she wants, telling her to envision who she wants to be and just believe in herself. Finding the resolve, Lala declares that she’ll protect Fuwa and become a Cure. In response, Fuwa grants Lala’s wish, giving her her own set of transformation items. Lala becomes Cure Milky, and helps Cure Star drive the villains off by making use of her powered-up antenna. Kappard is surprised that the same miracle happened twice, but Cure Milky corrects him, saying what happened before was Hikaru’s miracle, while this is the miracle she created.
After driving off the bad guys, Hikaru is happy for Lala, having believed she’d be able to do it. Lala tells Hikaru that she’s fairly certain the reason she managed to do it was because Hikaru was able to. As the episode ends, Hikaru’s pendant begins to glow.
That was a good episode! We got to know Lala a bit better, who is more of the logical type. We also learned a bit about where the aliens came from, and got some insight into what their planets are like. And I’m also curious about Hikaru’s father now, since we found out her room used to be his study. We haven’t seen him around, so... is he dead? Or is there a different reason he doesn’t seem to be around? I guess we’ll find out eventually.
And it looks like the Cures will indeed all sing during their transformation sequences, which has me looking forward to seeing if we’ll see all four singing in unison during group transformations. I really liked Cure Milky’s transformation sequence! The animation was really cool! I liked how she was sort of surfing at the start of it. I also noticed that they fixed the little animation error with Cure Star’s sequence, in which her one stocking was visible after her shoes appeared before it had actually appeared.
Anyways, looks like the next episode will have our two Cures’ different viewpoints lead to a bit of a clash. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what happens next!
#pretty cure#star twinkle precure#i would've waited until tomorrow to watch it#but i just couldn't wait#i really wanted to see if lala/cure milky would sing during her transformation#so i figured i might as well look up the episode since i figured the subs would be out by now

Just watched episode 23 of Star Twinkle Pretty Cure.
The girls decide to hold a welcome party for Yuni, but Yuni doesn’t seem too interested, pointing out she’s got her own food, showing one of her cookies. While Hikaru tries to convince her to try some of the food they prepared for the party, Fuwa manages to eat the cookie, which gives her a case of hiccups that starts spawning several hungry Fuwa copies.
As the copies eat the food meant for the party and then disappear, the girls realize that if they just feed the copies, they’ll go away. However, with Fuwa continuing to multiply, Hikaru finds herself having difficulty keeping up with drawing more food for the copies. Things go from bad to worse when Prunce loses track of the real Fuwa, followed by her and several of the copies managing to escape the rocket.
The girls have the donut machine begin working, and Yuni goes to look for Fuwa and the copies that escaped. Elena decides to go after her, bringing along a bag of bread crusts she cut off from the sandwiches she prepared. Yuni and Elena manage to stop a few of the copies, but haven’t found the real Fuwa. Hikaru catches up them and gives them some of the donuts to feed the copies, with Prunce telling them one group of copies headed for the lake, and another are headed for Hikaru’s house. Yuni decides to head to the lake, with Hikaru telling Elena to go with her while she and Prunce deal with the copies at her house.
Hikaru manages to distract her grandparents from seeing the commotion outside, while Prunce deals with the copies. Meanwhile, Lala and Madoka finish up feeding the remainder of the copies that stayed in the rocket. The donut machine overheats, so they decide to take the donuts that were finished and go out and help the others, while the A.I. continues to analyse the reason for Fuwa’s multiplying and how to stop it.
As the Fuwa copies begin heading for the shopping district, Yuni and Elena must find a way to deal with them before more people see them. Thinking quickly, Yuni turns into Mao and puts on a show in the middle of the shopping district, singing her song while Elena guides the Fuwa copies away from the shopping district. Once the coast is clear, Yuni catches up to Elena, who has managed to feed the copies. Yuni wants to continue searching for the real Fuwa on her own, but Elena asks why she keeps insisting on going alone. Yuni tells her that since it was sort of her fault that this situation happened in the first place, it is her responsibility to sort it out, and she doesn’t want to drag the others into it. However, Elena comments that she doesn’t have to worry about that, since the other girls also worry about Fuwa, and about Yuni. Meanwhile, Lala and Madoka try to track the remaining Fuwa copies, with the A.I. not having figured out how to stop the multiplying yet, but having determined the cause of it, with Madoka realizing it is Fuwa’s hiccups causing it.
However, Kappard and his minions have spotted the Fuwa swarm, and go to investigate. Kappard is unable to figure out which Fuwa is the real one, as Yuni and Elena come across them. Yuni manages to identity the real Fuwa, but this unfortunately tips Kappard off to which one is real as well, and manages to catch her. This startles Fuwa enough to stop her hiccups. Hikaru, Lala and Madoka catch up as Kappard captures Fuwa, and determined not to let him take her away, they transform.
They begin fighting Kappard’s minions, and Kappard takes the imagination he can gather from the Fuwa copies to power up his spear. To begin with, Cure Cosmo continues going after him on her own, dodging attacks until she gets stuck in one. The other girls and Prunce manage to save her from crashing into the ground. Cure Soleil offers to let Cure Cosmo borrow her Virgo Pen, telling her its better if they all work together. Cure Star, Cure Milky and Cure Selene use their attacks to block Kappard’s attacks to create an opening for Cure Soleil to help Cure Cosmo get up high enough to rescue Fuwa and toss her to Cure Star.
Cure Cosmo manages to knock Kappard’s weapon out of his hands, and uses the Virgo Pen lent to her by Cure Soleil to revert the weapon to normal with the Rainbow Splash. Kappard retreats, and the girls finally sort out the rest of the copies, and realize that Fuwa’s hiccups stopped when Kappard suddenly grabbed her. Fuwa apologizes to Yuni for eating the cookie. Yuni is about to leave, when Elena stops her, telling her to stay so they can resume their welcome party. The girls have one donut left, which Hikaru points out will be hard to divide among the seven of them, but having experience with it due to having multiple siblings, Elena handles it, making sure each of the girls, Fuwa and Prunce all get a piece. Yuni finally seems to be starting to getting closer to the others.
Another good episode! I liked seeing interactions between Yuni and Elena in this episode. Considering her character, it makes sense that she’d be the one to try to get Yuni to open up more to the others. And now we know why Yuni didn’t want Fuwa eating her cookies a few episodes back, even if she probably didn’t know what exactly would happen if she did. It was nice seeing the teamwork between the five Cures during the battle too.
So, yeah! A really cute episode with some funny moments. I’ll look forward to the next episode!
