I watched shera for the first time in like 2022 I think? Late 2021? And I knew that it was gonna be Gay canonically going into it and I LOVED watching it don't get me wrong. But like I’m thinking about the sheer joy of watching season five right when it was just released like the journey.

im stubborn and i like talking here's the reasons i put every character i did in side a into the tourney. I'll do side b later cause i gotta go to bed soon

important first note, quite a few of my decisions were because i was trying to get women in here and it was getting desperate because i had to cut out a lot of women for only being "just some guy" because they were written by a misogynist that made her sit on the sidelines and cheer for the male leads. The Woman Situation Is Always So Fucking Dire.

anyways on to the actual contestants im gonna start with the characters that have been causing the most people to start up shit about them not being just some guy

barry bluejeans (taz balance): 2 submissions, personal bias. i think a lot of people are misunderstanding what this tournament is tbh. this isnt about the "normal" characters, tho normalcy does play a factor in it. this is about dudes who are just some guy. there is a difference. barry is a dnd npc who wears blue jeans in a fantasy world and he loves his wife. yes he is a lich. yes he is involved in the main plot. he's also just chillin. like if the plot didn't happen the way it did barry would be playing sudoku or crosswords. he'd be an average man in a very fantasy world. he is so average and human its funny. he is just some guy

tommy (hlvrai): 1 submission, personal bias. his just some guy energy is so there. he gets a propeller hat that does nothing when all of his crew is getting cool guns and upgrades. his life goal is to go home and take his dog for a walk. he gets a chuck e cheese birthday party. he sounds like he's going to burst into tears at any moment. compared to the rest of the crew, tommy is comedically just some guy

ulala (persona 2): 1 submission, description swayed me. it described the list of characters in persona 2 and ulala was just "your roommate that wanted to go to a party". that's hilarious. also i was getting fucking desperate for women that didn't suck ass as i stated above

apollo (ace attorney): 2 submissions, personal bias, descriptions swayed me. yall the submissions for him were so fucking funny. he's just a lawyer. he just wants to do his job but he lives in the ace attorney universe so everything is fucked all the time. he would've been a normal lawyer if he hadn't met phoenix wright. he's just chillin.

sasha james (tma): 1 submission, friend bias, good description. i asked r if i should put her in because they know tma and they said yes. submission described her as loving to organize and avoided many monsters by being just some guy.

reigen arataka (mp100): 2 submissions. i thought it'd be funny and i was right. he is also just a normal man pretending he's not and he refuses to give up the bit he 100% deserves to be here

joy (underworld office): 1 submission, friend bias. the mc is going through wild ghost related problems and she's just going . hey man. you good??? r's sister submitted her and im not letting her down dude she's awesome

junpei (zero escape): 3 submissions, personal bias. he is literally the only character who has no connection to the larger mystery he's just there because he loves 1 girl. he's PAINFULLY and VITALLY just a dude. i need him

horse (centaurworld): 1 submission. i thought it'd be really funny to include just a horse. her name is horse. thats fucking awesome dude

phone guy (fnaf): 2 submissions. he was the only character from fnaf that got more than 1 submission and there were like 9 fnaf submissions i kinda felt bad tbh. he was also the best example of just some guy out of all the fnaf submissions

gordon freeman (hlvrai): 1 submission. he is a guy playing a video game. he is the straight man to the rest of the crews antics and by god he plays his role well

joshua gillespie (tma): 4 submissions, friend bias, hilarious descriptions. he avoids getting killed because he's so good at following instructions despite him clearly supposed to be dying here. they said don't open the coffin so he didn't. simply don't tuesday

namari (dungeon meshi): 1 submission, personal bias. i like her c: she's pretty level headed compared to like. everyone else in laios's crew. she seems like somebody i could just be friends with and hang out with

tsuzuru (a3!): 3 submissions, friend bias. descriptions definitely made him feel like a good fit. he's so good at being just some guy i actually thought he was a different character and was shocked when i went to grab images for the tourney and he wasnt the guy i thought he was. which is really funny. like who the fuck is he then. this didn't change my opinion or anything it was just so good

matt (woe.begone): 1 submission. woe.begone fans have ALWAYS been kind to me so they got some mod bias sprinkled in. i dont know what this guys deal is but in the dbtn tourney the guy who got in there had a giant fucking list of things that are happening to him all the time and apparently thats just what woe.begone is like so i believe it when told matt is normal in comparison. everything else is so batshit wild I Just Believe You

gilear (fantasy high): 2 submissions. he seems to be just a dad. wasn't going to get in at first tbh just for personal reasons but i was running out of characters that i felt actually fit the tournament well so ultimately he got in

emmet (lego movie): 4 submissions. honestly with the number of submissions we got, 4 submissions was basically a guaranteed entry. and emmet's whole story is about being just some guy

stahl (fire emblem): 1 submission, hilarious description. fire emblem fans are so funny. what do you mean he can only be perfectly average because everyone else improves/gets worse with him to keep him perfectly average. what the fuck. thats so good

doug (wolf359): 2 entries. i dont know jack shit about wolf359 and honestly the submissions didn't tell me a lot but it was enough to figure he qualifies and i was running out of characters that felt good for the tourney. i trust you wolf359 fans

jack townsend (tales from the gas station): 1 submission, good description. he works at an evil gas station and the description gave me no follow up on what an evil gas station is which is awesome. apparently the horrors are constantly happening and he's just kinda staring at them. he's not paid enough for this

RO reactions to overhearing MC gushing about them to a good friend of theirs? Like they're saying how awesome the RO is, how much they love the RO, they feel like the RO is their soulmate, etc etc

we'll assume this is at a stage in mc's relationship with all the ROs where it's been a few months after first meeting/reconnecting (or in val's case, a few months after reconnecting and trying to either avoid you or aggravate you into starting world war three)

slightly nsfwish? discussions of sexual themes for maddox

maddox: flabbergasted and dismayed. there'd be a little ember of hope simmering beneath the consternation, but the dominant feeling would be fear. they're not stable and they know it. their ex-partner knew it and the aftermath of that relationship left maddox in shambles. and people always want something from maddox so the concept of loving them for them and not what they can do for someone is incomprehensible. they'd be very withdrawn and a little insecure after hearing this. they'd spiral down rabbit holes of how they could fuck up their relationship with you and would eventually push for "breaking up" your PR relationship. carrying on something fake with you would not tickle their fancy.

(fwb route): if this is a few months in, they'd be relieved lol because they would've started off this relationship with the intent to keep it casual but would've fell for you gradually. then kept it bottled up and attributed it to the intimacy afforded during sex (something they don't find in other corners of his life). they'd still experience the uncertainty and fear described above, but would feel a bit more secure because your pillow talks and morning-afters would've become a natural part of their life and they'd feel more connected to you. not saying sex is necessary for them to feel connected to their partner, but the circumstances led to them getting to know you on a more personal level than a more friendly/hostile/indifferent route.

mateo (past ex route): precious baby boy. would be on cloud nine for the rest of the day and would get an earful from his family for it. it would feel like kismet to him—something fated, something profound. he let you go and you found your way back to each other. would try to give you space to come to him with the confession yourself but wouldn't be able to stop himself from reacting to your voice and your touch (even more than usual). i.e., if you were to casually brush past him, he'd stop breathing. you'd be a near constant in his dreams. and it would really only be a matter of time until he blurts something out, but until then he'd be content with admiring you from afar. he'd take you in any form you can give.

(past friends/acquaintance route): not the most shocked tbh. he's quite perceptive and had sensed a shift in the way you acted around him ever since you reconnected. doesn't mean he's not extremely pleased though. similar to exes route, would want you to come to him with a confession but would drop subtle hints to nudge you there. would be a smug little bastard.

carmen: immediately feels tears gathering at the back of her eyes. you've gotten to know her beyond the persona she wants the world to see and you love her in the face of all her mistakes and flaws? the terrifying ordeal of being known lol not something she's had to deal with for much of her life because people are content to love the ideal version of herself (aka the perfect pop star). i think having just one person extend love to the ugly, suppressed parts of her without inhibition would literally break her. carmen would be over the moon and bursting at the seams to flag you down and do a grand confession. it would be messy and she'd be sobbing half the time, but she'd be determined to make it happen. she's more in tune with her feelings than some of the other clowns in this circus and once she has MC, she's not letting go.

robin: first instinct is to turn right around and leave. robin prides themselves on being a morally upstanding person (because they're annoying like that) and eavesdropping on someone—especially someone they're making the focal point of [REDACTED]—goes against their code of ethics. but, when they catch their name they can't help but listen in out of pure curiosity. hearing you gush over them would rekindle something in them they buried long ago, but there'd be so many (so. many.) alarm bells ringing in their head. they'd eventually rip themselves away from the scene and lie awake at night, overturning every word you had said in their mind. and yes, it would be branded into their brain forever. they'd eventually come to a decision to not pursue anything, and from then on they'd make an even greater effort to be as professional as possible. because you're an unknown and they know they'd have to become an amnesiac in order to resist your pull.

val (ex friends route): crushed beyond belief. they always believed you were too good for them—their hands can be gentle but more often than not they're folded into fists. and hearing you confess your love for them despite everything they put you through? val would basically skip town thinking they're doing you both a favour. they'd torture themselves with what ifs and fight the violent urge to show up at your apartment door and ask why. i guess this is where i reveal that val had a massive crush on you back when your band was together in both routes lol they just suppressed it for years. and the possibility that you could've loved them when things were good—when they had a chance with you, when they would've stayed if you asked—would keep them up at night.

(ex rivals (?) route): oh, they'd be so mad. villainizing you by thinking of you as a competitor is how they hold onto their anger and frustration against you. you being in love with them goes against the very fabric of your relationship. they'd be even more hostile than usual, going out of their way to provoke you into arguments while secretly hoping they can tease out an impassioned confession straight from your mouth. they wouldn't know what to do beyond that point if you were to confess though. the occasional stray thought of kissing you senseless (if your MC likes that kind of intimacy) runs through their mind, but they quash that line of thinking real quick.

Thoughts on Netflix's Avatar adaptation Episode 1 and 2

SPOILERS AHEAD

1. AVATAR MY BABY BOY OH GOD LOOK AT HIS SMILE THAT'S MY AANG

2. Air Nomad Temple 10/10. That hurricane scene??? Fuck yes

3. Hey is that Kevin Tran from Supernatural

5. Holy shit they nailed Azula

6. Why is Katara so...flat? We're talking about one of the most fiery feminist icons in fictional history. The lady kicked ass on a daily basis BECAUSE she was tired of being looked down upon. Not bashing on Show!Katara tho. She's adorable. I just wish she'd...do something. It's disorienting to watch her when you KNOW OG!Katara would've been howling in the same situation

7. Soka and Momo are definitely 10/10 (Although I was sad to see Soka not being a sexist baby. Really enjoyed watching Suki kick that shit out of him in OG Atla). They nailed his sass tho

(Side note: why did they have Suki reveal her face to Soka so early? I thought it was adorable that Soka had such a huge crush on a girl whose face he doesn't get to see until at least 2 seasons later, and was genuinely in love with her for her fighting skills and spirit. It did a lot for their chemistry too)

8. OH GOD MY UNCLE IROH IS BACK *bursts into tears* GET THIS MAN HIS JASMINE TEA

9. I see a lot of comments on Zuko being too soft but honestly...I think show Zuko is nailing it

ok I'm sorry but this is the moment I've been waiting for

Tbh I think that Andrés didn't tell Martín about his illness, I think Martín was trying to convince himself to be over Andrés already, and couldn't help but to watch the news everyday, to see his face, to see if he was doing ok, eager to see if something happened, to see one day that they had got away with the robbery, all alive, with the hopes that Andrés would go back to him right after. Instead of that, one day he just turned on TV and saw a mugshot of his best friend along with a list of disgusting crimes he knows he hasn't committed, crimes about raping minors, selling women, prostituting young girls... His blood boils, he can't believe the police would frame him in such a disgusting way. Time goes by, Martín's eyes are glued to the news at every moment of the day, hoping to see something positive for once, instead he sees Andrés, live on television, talking, with an injury on his head, being perfectly careful of his every word, like he always was. He was showing a corpse on national TV, giving a speech about how the fact that they might die is getting more and more real, knowing it's all a scam to win over the people, but something catches Martín off guard, hearing the love of his life saying he has an incurable illness that will kill him in no more than two months, an illness the police knows about and has taken advantage of. And from that moment on, Martín couldn't hear anything else, he couldn't see anything else. He turned off the TV but, in his head, the same thing kept repeating over and over again, the man he loved more than anything was dying, and he didn't tell him. He could've thought he was a selfish asshole, but Martín knew him better than that, his mind could only think that he did all to protect him, that night, that horrible yet glorious night he kissed him to let him know he loved him, but didn't want to hurt him, he left that night knowing that, even though he was breaking his best friend's heart, it was not nearly the same pain it would've caused him to tell him how he really felt about him. And, after days of feeling miserable for hating a man that did whatever he could so he wouldn't suffer, he saw him again on the news, and this time it was far worse. The news spread quickly, the robbers escaped from the Mint, he felt happier than ever, he was gonna see Andrés one last time, they would be able to talk about their relationship, about their love for eachother and, for at least a few months, they would be able to be happy together... If it wasn't because of the news that came after. He saw again Andrés' mugshot on the screen, the reporter announced his death, according to her they didn't know what happened, but thought it was because of his illnes. Martín knew that was bullshit, it had probably been the police, those damn cops killed the man he loved. Martín screamed as loud as he could, almost tearing his voice apart, he threw things, broke so many of his home appliances in that little tantrum, and after an hour, he grabbed a bottle of whiskey, sat down next to pieces of his broken lamp and started drinking. After hardly an hour of crying and chugging alcohol, the bottle was empty, he threw it at the nearest wall and contemplated the pieces of glass, so sharp the could make a deep cut in his skin, deep enough to die of it, but he was already in too much pain, he bursted into tears again, realising he almost killed himself two seconds ago, and for the next two years he just cried, drunk and waited for a call from Sergio that never came.

but seriously what if that one scene WAS the last time martín saw andrés?? are you telling me he just went home and some day andrés reappeared on tv? did martín know about his illnes or did he only find through that interview?

who told him he died (or was that on tv as well)
