The foreboding had sat in the air the moment they had started their little excursion. Pink and blue streaks of nightfall ripped up the sky to bleed in turqouise streams, when he emerged at their meeting spot.

His insides were crawling with small bugs, when he entered the churchyard and blades of long, wild grass boldly grazed his ankles.

In the dawning light, the entrance to the abandoned building looked more like the ghoulish mouth of a corpse than an entrance to a house of safety and sanctity that it must have been years ago. Cold breaths of wind were caressing his neck and caused his frozen insides to clamp down on a bucket of ice cubes.

The pale hair bobbing around an area of the yard just further in was ignored for a moment, as he stared into the darkness. Mariku wasn't afraid of the dark and anything that lurked inside. For Ryou though, he would get into the mood for tonight. He wanted to experience the supernatural and that's exactly what they would do.

That Mariku himself was one of the most supernatural things the other had probably ever come across... didn't need to be discussed right now.

Just as he felt ready to jump out of his illusion-skin, he turned towards Ryou, who used the halflight to read an inscription at the churchyard wall, excitement written across his features. He had been tired, but the night was rearing up her head. The darkness was his home. Made of darkness, born in darkness, diead and revived in the hands of blackness so deep that no light could penetrate into its heart.

"Evening. Ready for our date?"

He would scare the heart out of this tiny human vessel tonight and Ryou would thrive more for every second in true darkness.

the older i get and the closer i am to reaching 30, the more the people around me try to deny me my age. it’s a constant ‘oh you’re just turning 29 again teehee 🤭’ or ‘dont tell your SO that, he’ll leave you for a younger model 😉’ and i just???? hate it?????????

i spent my entire teenaged years fighting for my life. i crawled through the deepest pits of my depression to cling to the promise of a life beyond that pain. i was so convinced that i was going to die young, that i would never see the grace of my age starting with a 2, let alone 3.

so im going to turn 30, and there’s not a damn thing anyone can do to stop me from loving it.

I used to tell people about this revelation and they'd be like yeah.....duh.....but like, why wouldn't my base assumption be that you're communicating to me in a straightforward manner. anyway, I get scammed a lot.
