I feel like every transfem I’ve met loves video games and animes but as a transfem myself I’ve never really gotten into those :/ where are the tgirls who are into history and political documentaries????

On a serious note tho, do you have any video game recommendations for someone who’s never played before but wants to get into them so she can meet some other transfems that way?

there are definitely lots of transfems into history & political documentaries! i’d say those are nearly as stereotypically transfeminine as anime and videogames — but as somebody not into Magic the Gathering i feel you!!

the way i answer this depends on a lot of stuff — when you say you’ve never played, i need more details. this is like coming to me and asking “i’ve never seen a TV show before, what’s a good starter?” like. have you literally never touched a videogame before ever? like never held a controller? i’m gonna assume you’re exaggerating a little (although no shade if you’re not — i can still give recs for that too!) but even then, it’s hard to know what to recommend for an entire medium. do you have access to any gaming consoles? a computer? what genres do you like outside of gaming like horror, scifi, etc.

videogames are an interesting medium to recommend for, because you’re selling a type of gameplay AND the aesthetic package that surrounds it. for example, i like first-person shooter games because i love the adrenaline rush of reacting to a scenario i have the power to change in real time — but i skip a lot of shooters because i don’t like the everything-else part surrounding it. the difference between Call of Duty and Half-Life and Halo and DOOM means nothing to my mom but everything to the gamer girls

do you play any games of other genres — tabletop RPGs, card games, board games? there are often good analogies of those games in the videogame world. also, if you’re into politics and history you might like something like Hearts of Iron or some other grand strategy game like that (and i promise there are BUTTLOADS of transfems into basically all the big grandstrat games).

but yeah it sort of depends like, what about videogames is theoretically appealing to you? because you’re only gonna have fun with something that, well, you think is fun.

Portal & Portal 2 are both on the Switch and probably pretty runable on even a shitty computer and they definitely shouldn’t be too difficult if you have like basic videogame movement/camera literacy (which like! you might not! i’m really shooting blind here haha) — they’re well known for their incredible dialogue & outstanding voice acting performances

if you have access to a Switch (i know, assuming a lot here) then maybe one of the new Zelda games. Breath of the Wild has a high skill cap but is still fundamentally designed to be approachable to children. it’s about exploring a fun and imaginative world, and it has a pretty competent tutorial to set you on your way. again! it’s hard to give recs without knowing what we’re working with here.

getting used to her new form — forms — took no effort at all. going from woman to many-eyed wolfbeast feels like slipping into a second skin. not quite sorcerer and not entirely spirit, half their perception of themself (anguished, enraged, all vengeance and newly awakened) and half the world's perception of them (monstrous, lupine, revenant and ruiner), persephone HELLHOUND walks the scorched earth for the first time under paws the size of dinner plates and follows what they do not yet recognize as a cursed-energy scent trail.

they are looking for satoru. they have to make sure he's alright — wherever he has landed in this great neo-volcanic mess — and he's bound to be the most powerful presence in this space, right?

but as they bound through pools of shadow and leap between piles of debris that once were the rooftops she so adored, it is not her old friend who stands at the center of this unending storm.

persephone has never seen ryomen sukuna in the flesh. they've heard stories from their employer, who was alive during his time and remains so thanks to the technique of eternal youth. they've heard of his reincarnation and how it sent the higher-ups of jujutsu society into panic. they've seen paintings, renderings, blurry images.

but the sheer presence of him has her monster-form raising its hackles, a shiver rippling through quills of black fur, many eyes wide and focused for fear of what might happen if they look away.

quietly, she lets the shadow-form melt away to decrease her visibility and watches him approach the dead, flaming disaster curse he has just utterly demolished. watches him regard it as it burns, crumbles, and disappears into ash. watches him turn his head, her living-dead-heart dropping into her stomach as he looks right at her.

so this is the trace given off by the young twins' dead bodies. god, he wasn't remotely this powerful before, was he?

perhaps it was her fate to die today after all. but no — you know what? fuck fate. it tried to kill her already and she ate her way out of the belly of hell because she has a fucking mission to finish. fear melts away into resolve, steely-eyed, calm. a call across the space, from one howling cursed-energy storm to another. ❝ i'm not here to fight. ❞

The first case that Kazuma Asogi had taken in London had been monumental. Not to mention far over his head — very much by design of the man who had appointed a fledging prosecutor whose interests lay so dangerously close to the Reaper trial. And there was no doubt that Asogi was suffering for it now.

Apprenticing under the former Reaper of the Bailey had its benefits, certainly. The courtroom was hardly ever dull, what with the dramatics that Barok employed to capture the attention of judges and difficult-to-sway jurors.

Drowning in legalese, however, required little imagination and provided even less entertainment. And yet it was a part of the prosecutor's profession as much as the time they spent in the Old Bailey, and thus Barok pushed it mercilessly as he did every aspect of their duties. To grow into the role of the prosecutor Asogi intended to be, there was hardly room to moan and to drag his feet. And he took it well for the most part, poring over the paperwork, writing and reading and reviewing case reports cover to cover, and filing every report demanded of him, no matter how trifling Barok's request.

Barok's commendations were few and far between. Not for lack of performance on Asogi's part; it was merely the manner in which Barok had been taught when he, too, had been young and training in this merciless occupation. But the meagre praises were more than he would have offered most, should they find themselves under his tutelage. ( There had been none, until Lord Stronghart had handed Barok's first and only disciple to him, leaving him little choice but to take a nameless man under his wing. ) But, still, in the heart of Asogi's apparent flawlessness lay the very evidence of his limitations.

One must know when to rest. Barok, too, had work to put into learning his limit. When he had worked alone, there had been less need for it; he alone suffered the consequences of his at-times unreasonable doggedness.

Now, he was not alone. As much as he and Asogi struggled verbally to come to terms with it, they had to consider one another — to do more than than simply coexist. To work with one another.

Perhaps it was guilt of years past, too, that indebted Barok to the task of keeping after Asogi's health. ( Guilt that held him to the oath Genshin could not himself keep, when Barok had sent him to the gallows: to look after his beloved son. ) Nonetheless, this was his apprentice; the man was under Barok's care, whether or not he liked it.
