Learning to Deal
Tumblr media
So, I've never written fic before, so please be kind. I've had to drink a bottle of wine to finish the smut and gain the courage to post. Please be funny when you tell me this sucks. :D (I also have ideas for a few more short blurbs in this universe)
•pairing: Joe Burrow x Original Female Character
•summary: Caroline Stevens had been known to the fans of the Bengals' as Sam Hubbard's best friend since he got drafted. Now she's dating his teammate Joe Burrow and must navigate the logistics that come with that
•word count: 4.3k
•warnings: SMUT, SMUT, SMUT. Slight angst. Angry Sex. Dom/Sub dynamics. Slight Daddy Kink. Light choking. Ass smacking. Cursing. Drinking. Cannabis Use. Lots of other stuff. MINORS DO NOT INTERACT.
Caroline Steven was sure she’d never get used to how overwhelming being a plus one to an NFL starter could be. Since her childhood best friend, Sam, had been drafted by their hometown football team, she’d attended her fair share of over-the-top events with budgets bigger than her teaching salary. (That is, when Sam happened to be single and his mother was not an appropriate option.) This routine would be coming to an end shortly, though.
Over the last year, Caroline had started seeing one of Sam’s teammates, Joe. Meaning that the next time they walked into a jungle-themed room, she would be on the arm of the man she wanted to walk in with, and Sam would not be hindered in attempting to fix his single status. (at least for the night).
Although he was one of the most private (read: shy) people Caroline had ever met, Joe somehow managed to become the face of the Bengals. Seriously, the guy was so closed off when she first met him that Caroline was convinced Joe hated her. It wasn’t that Caroline disliked the fact that her boyfriend was charismatic enough to become a franchise player; she just hated the legalities that came with it.
It would only take the entire next Monday arguing with the agents and publicists that the NFL and Bengals put together to officially be Dating Joe Burrow™. Caroline was more than ready to be able to claim the beautiful man she grew to love as her boyfriend, but she knew that Joe was a little more hesitant about what compromises they were going to have to make as a couple to get this approved through the league. There were whispers about using their anniversary to make sponsored posts already.
Walking into the banquet hall the Bengals had rented at Moerlein Lager House, Caroline scanned the room for her boyfriend. While they had texted a few times throughout the day, their conversation before Joe dropped her off yesterday had been acting… off. Joe seemed a little put off about having to use his personal life for marketing, but Caroline hoped he saw her as worth it. The two made their way to a table to the left of the entrance, where champagne flutes were set out for guests to take.
“Calm down, Stevie." Sam’s voice brought her back to reality, using her childhood nickname. “I really don’t think Danny Devito is here; there’s no need for such excitement.” “You’re such a goober!” Caroline chuckled, pushing a stray auburn curl out of her eyes. “I just wanted to see if I could see Joe. You act like it wasn’t you who set us up, don’t act like you’re annoyed with how we act together.”
Before Sam could spit a comeback at Caroline, two arms wrapped around her middle and squeezed her tight. Joe’s deep voice boomed, “Hey, babe," before kissing her on the cheek and greeting Sam. Ja’Marr, Irv, and Tee. joined the three, drinks in hand. Greetings were exchanged before Ja’Marr nudged Caroline.
“Damn, girl. I didn’t know your Ms. Frizzle ass had dresses that didn’t have dinosaurs and shit on them.” With an eye-roll, Caroline pulled at the hem of her black dress, trying to make it come farther down than the upper thigh. She was far more comfortable in her themed dresses and cardigans, which helped engage her second-grade students. “I didn’t know you had that much skin; I almost thought your legs was made of cloth like some stuffed animal.”
Before Caroline could laugh at Ja’Marr’s roast, she heard Joe’s laugh, and his grip tightened on her hip. “Don’t be mad, Ja’Marr. You’ve just been salty that I’m the one she chose to know how much skin she has and how to stuff her.”
At that moment,t the various reactions rang through the group. Tee and Irv sent a chorus of “oooohs” to the circle of six. Caroline nearly choked on her drink and sent a look of confusion and panic to Sam, who responded with a chuckle and a “Well, this got weird. This is my signal to leave.”
Caroline turned out the remaining four men, making fun of Sam for running away when sexual topics came up while her mind raced with thoughts. Caroline shifted in her spot, tugging at her dress again.
Joe seemed to notice Caroline zoning out because a whisper in her ear brought her back to reality. “I’m sorry, Caro. It came out before I could think. I had two drinks before you got here; I'm so sorry.” Tee, Irv, and Ja’Marr were still in conversation, now about the chances Sam would find enough alcohol and a girl to make him warm up to the sexual topics tonight.
Caroline let out a sigh and excused her and Joe from the group. She led them to a corner near a window overlooking Great American Ball Park and a partial view of the river. “You’re forgiven, Joe. You know, I just hate when you get vulgar.” “I completely understand. You’re not a piece of meat. I promise I’ll only brag about our fantastic sex life and your crazy body when you start the conversation.”
 Caroline leaned even farther on her tiptoes than her heels assisted, and kissed Joe on the chin. “That’s all I ask, baby.”
Ironically enough, Joe and Caroline had that conversation at the beginning of the night because, at present, the couple currently found themselves in a small group of Bengals and some of their plus ones from the party, playing a drinking game that required the player to answer the question on the card drawn or drink. The night had gone smoothly after the small speed bump that happened when Caroline arrived, so she found herself relaxing into Joe’s side, enjoying the early morning hours.
A small group of Joe and his teammates had decided that after a season of abstaining from partying as hard as they wanted, they’d continue the celebration in the suite Ja’Marr and Joe had previously booked in a nearby hotel. Something had told them they would be too incapacitated to drive and would want to celebrate as late as possible.
“Oooo! My turn! I pick... Joe!” Irv’s little sister Rachel, exclaimed to the circle. Her words were slurred from the mix of whiskey and weed she had been ingesting, but the entertainment was evident in her voice. It was obvious she was enjoying the usually serious men lose themselves in fits of giggles when another teammate admitted something embarrassing.
“What’s the most amount of people you’ve hooked up with in a night?”
“Three,” Joe mumbled, not picking up his drink.
Caroline sucked in a breath. She knew this, while they didn’t quite know everything about each other yet, she and Joe had talked a lot in the time of their relationship. Early on, though, they found out that their sexual and romantic history was best left on an “ask-only” basis. Caroline knew herself better than to have Joe tell her everything at once. After his last long-term relationship ended, she watched from afar as he numbed himself in ways she didn’t even want to think about. She knew it was best for herself if she only found out what she needed to know and she believed that included whether or not she would be in the same room with one of Joe’s random hookups. Joe seemed to share the same mentality because he had only ever asked her vague questions.
Next was Irv’s turn to pick a person to interrogate and a card. He scanned the group and chose Sam. His voice filled the air, reading from the card, “What was your most embarrassing sexual experience? Describe what you remember in detail.” “Fuck off, it does not say that!” Sam protested across the table from Caroline. “I’m afraid it does, Sammy boy,” Irv laughed back, waiting for Sam’s embarrassment. Caroline’s eyes shut as she laughed at her best friend’s discomfort. This situation was so much funnier to her than the one earlier in the night. Caroline wasn’t sure if it was because there was some light ribbing going on, the presence of women, and a game that was about bonding, gave her comfort in a way that was not present when it was just Caroline and 5 men.
 “Well, I guess when I was like 16… uh…. The girl I lost my virginity to…,” Sam stuttered. Caroline’s eyes instantly opened. She knew this story. She had figured in 10 years and a professional sports career later, he would have more embarrassing memories. “Well, uh… We had decided that maybe we would try mouth stuff, y’know. Well, uhh. St-she went down on me for the first time and uh.. .she vomited on me.” Sam stuttered through the whole beginning of the story while everyone else was gasping for air through their laughs. “You got puked on?!” T.B. said through howls.
“Well, that’s not all.. We both made so much noise when my lap got covered. Ma-her brother came bursting through her bedroom door, and, uh.. he caught us.” Caroline shifted in her weight and faintly joined in the echoing laughter. Joe looked at her with a quizzical look and took another hit of the blunt being passed around. Joe wasn’t usually much of a partier, but the Bengals had put up a hell of a fight this season and it looked like her boyfriend was damn sure goign to celebrate it.. He had slowed down on his drinking after embarrassing himself earlier in the night, but Caroline had seen him with a honey-flavored backwood and at least two different rolled swishers throughout the night.
Before Joe could make anything of it, Sam’s name pulled him out of his thoughts to see Tee’s placing a card on the table. It was Caroline’s turn and she was answering telling the most legal trouble she had ever been in.
“So, basically, Sam had gone to practice and I woke up before he did. I went down to the kitchen in his house and two of his roommates were talking about me over breakfast. They were basically saying the most vile things you could think of and it only got more vulgar once they saw me. I threw a cast iron skillet at one of them and was banned from OSU’s campus.” She had shared this secret with Joe a few weeks into seeing each other. He had heard a vague version when Sam moved out of his house midseason. Caroline filled him in on the details after they were together to let him know why she was so sensitive about being in ceratin situations.
The card game continued for another ten minutes before some member of the group suggested they play ‘Never Have I Ever.’ This time, Caroline caught the look Joe sent her as she filled her glass to get ready to play. “You’re sure you’re okay with this? They’re going to get even more raunchy.”
Caroline licked her lips before forming them into a smile. “I’m fine, Joey. I’m having fun, I promise. And if I get uncomfortable, we can always say one of us is tired. Just squeeze my hip twice.”
Rachel explained the modified “late night, here to get fucked up” rules. They’d go around the circle and each person would say something they had never done. Every person has five fingers up and puts a finger down and takes a drink for every time they’ve done what someone else hasn’t. Once all five fingers are down, the person chugs their drink and is out.
The rules seemed easy enough and before long the game was on and laughs filled the air. Caroline wasn’t really paying attention to who had done what. Except Joe. She knew she shouldn’t, but this was a loophole in learning things about him, and without all the details. So far the score had gone as follows:
“Had sex in a football field” - Joe drank. Caroline drank. “Ever made out with someone of the same sex” Joe didn’t drink. Caroline drank. (Joe winked at her) “Cheated on someone” Joe drank. Caroline didn’t drink. “Been cheated on.” Both drank. “Broken a bone.” Both drank.
The group was in good humor, consistently whooping at Caroline when she had admitted she did something. Rachel had changed gears from trying to get everyone’s dirty secrets to just getting Caroline out, picking topics for her and Irv that they had known would get her out.
They were both down to their last finger and Caroline was starting to get drowsy. She had drunk quite a few times during this game and had been tipsy before. Maybe if she were more sober, she would have realized one of the two things happening within the next moment. Rachel gave Caroline a jokingly competitive stare before mouthing you’re going down.
“Never have I ever fucked someone in this room.”
Being the level of intoxicated she was, Caroline didn’t realize that an odd number of people in the room put their fingers down and took a swig of their drink. She also didn’t realize that, while Joe was intoxicated, he was mainly high which caused his mind to work in overdrive. This meant that Joe had noticed that there was an odd number of people who put their fingers down in the room.
Caroline had her cup tipped to the ceiling and was almost to the bottom of it when she felt two distinct squeezes on her hip and her boyfriend growling her name barely loud enough for her to hear. Her mind started racing at what Joe could.
“Actually guys, I’m feeling a little past my limit and am probably going to lay down. Caroline, care to join?” Joe’s strained voice came through his tightly clenched jaw. Caroline followed Joe as he stood up and made his way down the hallway of the suite toward their bedroom.
“Are you feeling okay, Joe?” The question hung between them while Joe fumbled with the keycard and the door handle. Caroline tried to not let her mind race too much as she replayed the last three minutes in her head. If anything, she should be the one a little upset in her opinion. Joe had admitted to cheating on someone in the past, and although she knew of the incidents, she couldn’t fathom why admitting she had sex with Joe would set him off so much.
A low grumble she couldn’t make out brought her out of her thoughts as Joe ushered her through the door.
“Please?” Caroline questioned, indicating to Joe to repeat what he said. “Why didn’t you tell me you fucked him?” Joe demanded again, this time loud enough for the redhead to hear. She was standing a the foot of the bed while Joe still had his hand on the deadbolt. “Uhm, what and who are we talking about again?” Caroline nervously laughed, attempting to put the pieces of the puzzle together in her head. It hit her the same time Joe’s steeled blue eyes met her brown ones and he repeated the question. “Why didn’t you tell me you fucked Sam?” the third time the question was presented to Caroline, frustration and anger overtook her drunken state. “What in the world are you talking about, Joe? When I told you I didn’t need to know details of your sex life you told me the same?” Caroline was confused. She never intentionally kept anything from her boyfriend.
“I did ask. The first time we hooked up,” Joe’s voice came out strained. He had moved towards the middle of the large room. All Caroline wanted to do was crawl in the large bed directly in front of her and cuddle her boyfriend. This night definitely took multiple turns. “You did not! You asked me if you were the first professional athlete I had gone down on.” Caroline was exasperated now. She didn’t want Joe to think she was lying.
Caroline walked into the bathroom for a chance to break Joe’s gaze. When she reached the mirror she began taking the pins out of her curls. “And I very clearly heard the story of the first time you had that experience tonight, with our mutual best friend, Caro.” Joe loosened his tie as he emphasized the last few words of his sentence. He was angrier than Caroline had ever seen him off the field and she hated that it was because of her.
The redhead turned her body to face the door where her boyfriend stood. Even when angry, the man was beautiful. Brown waves fell onto his face nose and cheeks red from a mixture of intoxication and anger. He had his button-up undone to his sternum and was working on taking off his belt.
“And I had told you that story when Matthew asked if you knew how to use a lock! I told you he walked in on me in high school and you cut me off. Plus, that happened well before Sam was drafted, therefore not a pro athlete. I thought you were asking if I was a groupie trying to add another to the list.” “I genuinely thought you knew babe,” she said from in front of the mirror, her eyes taking in Joe. He had leaned against the doorway and was watching her in a manner that made her unsure of what he was thinking. Usually, communication was easy between them. Disagreements never lasted long because even if they had conflicting feelings on a subject, they were both willing to hear it from the other’s perspective to attempt to understand.
Caroline unfastened the back of the earrings she was wearing and placed them down in the travel jewelry box she had placed on the counter earlier in the evening. “I told you about how I was a nerdy ginger in high school and had to make a mutual agreement to lose my virginity to my best friend. You didn’t want to know who”
Joe took a deep breath and rubbed his bottom lip between his thumb and forefinger. “I guess, I didn’t think it was Sam. You guys went to different schools.”
“That’s cute that you thought high school Stevie could’ve gotten the attention of a boy besides Sam.” Caroline made the joke, hoping to lighten the mood. It didn't.
“He went to an all-boys school, and everyone in my school was repulsed by me, so we made a pact to keep up with the Joneses, so to speak. When everyone in middle school was talking about making out, we didn’t want to feel left out, and that sort of just progressed on to other things…”
“Do you have feelings for him?” Joe’s eyes flickered with a flash of emotion as he cut her off, clearly not wanting to hear the details. “Oh my God. Absolutely not in the way you’re asking.” Caroline’s brown eyes made sure to keep eye contact with Joe’s blue ones, she wasn’t going to be the first to look away. “It was really just experimenting, Joe.” “When was the last time? Did I know you?” Joe questioned, anger still seeping through his voice. Caroline felt a lump grow in her throat when she thought back to the last time she and Sam had hooked up, or at least attempted to. It was during her and Sam’s sophomore year in college and he had invited her up to visit him at Ohio State. “It was the day we met. At Ohio State.” Caroline uttered. Sam had insisted on taking her to Woody’s, the on-campus tavern, to meet with some of the second-string freshmen. Joe barely said hello to her, before returning his attention to the playbook in front of him. The room was silent for a minute before Joe broke their eye contact, standing up straight. Rubbing his fingers against his lip again, he turned his head to the side. “Fuck, Caro.  I just hate that he’s had what’s mine.” Before Caroline could get out the words, ‘What’s yours?’” Joe closed the few steps between the two.
“Yes, Caroline. You’re mine.” His proximity to Caroline caused her back to turn flush against the counter. “And tonight I’m going to mark my territory.”
A warm feeling of realization washed over Caroline when she realized what Joe meant. Or maybe it was horniness. Because at that very moment, his hand wrapped around Caro’s throat and bucked his hips into hers.
A moan of agreement left Caroline’s plump maroon lips, causing Joe to growl. “That’s right, baby. I’m going to take what’s mine. But first, on your knees.”
Excitement sent of chill throughout Caroline’s body. She liked it when Joe was dominantt, but it rarely ever happened without her explicitly asking for it. What can she say, the man was all about her gratification by default.
Before her knees even made contact with the cold tile, Joe’s cock was out and hitting her in the face. A smile spread across her face before she opened her mouth and gave a lick to the head. Caroline still had her tongue out and she worked her mouth down Joe’s shaft. When the head hit the back of her throat, she closed her lips and wiggled her tongue.
“That’s right, baby,” Joe smirked, raking his hands through the auburn curls at his pelvis. Caroline brought a hand up to cup his balls, retracting her tongue and beginning to move her back and forth. “Fuck.” Joe bucked his hips into his girlfriend’s mouth, causing her to gag a bit. “Gag on Daddy’s cock, that’s right.” He demanded, causing Caroline to loosen her jaw and attempt to take the rough fucking her face was receiving. That was new.
After a few moments filled with slurps and moans, Joe finally spoke again. “Get up. Turn around.” Joe’s voice was still gruff with anger, but possesiveness and lust had also joined in. If Caroline hadn’t already been wet from the worship Joe had just demanded from her, she would’ve been after Joe gave her ass a smack and returned his left hand to her throat. They made eye contact in the mirror in front of them.
“After tonight, there’s going to be no doubt you’re mine last.” Joe leaned in and whispered into her ear. His right hand busied itself tugging down the thong she had under her dress. Caroline lifted her leg slightly to step out of the thin material, Joe took this as his opportunity to line up the head of his dick with the slick of her pussy.
The tip of his dick entered her warmth and he whispered, “My girlfriend,” as he slammed his entire length into her. White pleasure tore through Caroline’s pelvis when this happened. Joe was not small, and feeling him push his entire length into her gave her a sense of fullness that she craved.
Pulling out slowly, his eye contact never wavered from Caroline’s. “On MY arm for events.” He thrust into her again, then pulled out even slower causing a whimper to escape Caroline’s smudged lips. “Mine,” Joe repeated, burying himself to the hilt again. “Any objections?” Caroline shook her head, making sure to keep her brown eyes locked on Joe’s blue ones. She wanted to see his reaction.
“No, sir.”
And she was glad she did. Joe’s eyes somehow got even darker with lust as his right hand pushed her back down, so her chest was flat on the counter and his left found her throat again. The marble dug into her thighs, but at this point, the pain was mixing with the pleasure, Joe thrusting aggressively into her.
Caroline couldn’t make out the chain of expletives leaving Joe’s mouth as she began to feel the intense pleasure building inside her. “I’m so close, Daddy,” she whined, trying on the new title Joe had given himself earlier. “I wanna come on your cock so bad.” If Caroline thought Joe lost himself in lust earlier, she was wrong. He let out a guttural moan and stood Caroline back up again, without removing the hand from her throat. He moved his hand from her back to her clit. He used his long fingers to work circular motions on the sensitive nerves until Caroline lost herself to her pleasure and began twitching lightly. She wasn’t sure if she was actually moaning or just imagining it until Joe’s voice coached her through her orgasm. “I know, darling,” He planted a kiss on her head. “I know, you’re doing such a good job, just breathe.” He peppered more kisses over the top of her head before he moaned again. “I’m going to come, babe. Get on your knees and open your mouth.” Caroline did as she was told, quickly. She wasn’t going to give Joe a reason to question whether she liked this side of him or not. Joe pumped his fist around his dick twice before warm ropes came shooting towards Caroline, most of it making it in her mouth, a little on her lips and chin. She took Joe’s thumb and wiped the excess, before making eye contact and engulfing it in her mouth. After swirling her tongue around Joe’s thumb a few times, she swallowed. She set her lips in an ‘O’ to show off her newly empty mouth to Joe. “Fuck, Caro. You’re going to be the death of me,” Joe said laughing, his cheeks flushed. He patted his girlfriend's head before saying, “Now go clean up so we can go to sleep. I need you to get some rest before I wake you up.” “Oh, yeah?,” Caroline cocked an eyebrow, still on the ground. Her thighs were starting to ache from never taking off her heels. “Yeah, I’m going to fill you with cum and then we’re going to go eat brunch with the rest of the suite,” Joe said, sternness still in his voice.
Caroline stood up and looked at herself in the mirror. Her makeup was smudged and her hair was a rat’s nest, she thought about how this was the happiest she had ever been. Though, she was certain if she continued finding and loving new sides of Joe, it wasn’t the happiest she would ever be.

     The morning sun broke far too early through the curtains of the room. Y/n groaned as she turned away from the window. It only did so much before she opened her eyes. Sitting up in the bed and looking around the room. Forgetting completely what had happened the night before in her half-awake brain.
     She froze for a mere moment before she remembered what happened yesterday. Leaving her home, the carriage ride, Chan carrying her to bed. All of it.
     She got out of the bed and walked to the vanity in the room. Sitting down and looking at her neck. The bite mark from Felix had all but fully healed now. She was surprised, to say the least. A knock on the door stripped her from her trance.
     She turned her attention from the mirror as a maid stepped in and looked around the room. “Good morning, Your Highness. Pardon the intrusion.” The maid smiled as she turned towards her and bowed her head.
     “It’s no intrusion at all. I had just woken up.” Y/n replied.
     “Well, let’s get you ready for the day, shall we?” She sounded much more chipper than the maids back in her castle.
     “Is everyone else sleeping?” She asked as the maid came to stand behind her, moving to fix her bedhead.
     “The lords? Most of them are. I believe a few are still awake.”
     “They are up when the sun is out?”
     “Hard to believe, I know. Most still prefer to sleep during the day but all eight do carry day rings.” She explained
     “Day rings?”
     “Yes. The staff here aren’t privileged with the origin or much information and it doesn’t leave outside the town either. But the rings offer a sort of protection from the sun for them.”
     “I never knew such an item existed.”
     “Because if the church found out it would be massive trouble. More than they already are for the lords.”
     “Apologies if I’m asking too many questions. This is all just… a lot.”
     “It’s quite alright. I understand the curiosity.”
      The maid— whose name the royal learned was Hwan— helped her get dressed for the day before showing her to the dining area. Pointing out a few things in the castle before opening the big doors to the dining room. No one else was sitting at the table in the center, a couple of butlers were setting a place at the end of the table.
     “Everyone is busy at the current moment. I’ll let Chan know you’ve woken up though.” Hwan told her as she brought her over to the chair. One of the butlers pulled the chair out for her as she sat. Y/n thanked him as the second poured a glass of water for her.
      Hwan left the room as the butlers walked into the kitchen. Quiet. Y/n couldn’t remember the last time she had breakfast without much fuss. No one demanded her attention. It was quite lovely.
     The doors gently pushed open again as Chan walked in. “Good morning. Did you sleep well?” Chan asked taking a seat next to her
     “Quite well. Thank you,” Y/n replied
     “Staff treating you well?” He asked
     “Quite. Very different atmosphere from mine.”
     “In a good way or a bad way?”
     “Good. I like the change of pace.”
     She and Chan chatted as she finished her breakfast. He was a very calming person to talk to, making her almost forget she was living with vampires now. The staff was attentive and cleaned as soon as she had finished.
     “Would you like a proper tour? We didn’t get to that last night,” Chan asked as he stood from the chair.
     “That would be nice,” Y/n smiled.
     Chan pulled her chair out for her and then took her hand as she stood. Y/n thanked him as she wrapped her hands around his arm while he led them out of the dining room.
     He pointed a few things out as they walked down the main halls, and introduced her to a few staff as they walked by. He walked her through a few rooms—the library and ballroom mainly. He showed her down the darker side of the manor. Where the vampire's rooms were. Pointed each door and told her who it belonged to.
     Once the indoor tour was done, he brought her outside. Clouds were rolling in now; not too dark that it was going to rain, maybe drizzle. Y/n noticed the lack of guards around the manor which she would have been concerned about but she figured vampires could protect themselves just fine.
     He walked her into the garden. It was quite beautiful honestly. Flowers even her own garden back home had never seen. Chan couldn’t help but smile at her amazement.
       He led her toward the gazebo in the center of the garden. He noticed Felix and Changbin sitting and talking. Hyunjin a few feet away, painting.
     “Are you up for meeting a couple of new faces?” Chan asked
     “Yes,” Y/n replied.
     Chan led her over and called out to the three. The two sitting turned, and Felix smiled at the princess.
     “Good morning, Your Highness. How are you feeling?” Felix’s smile was contagious. For a being typically repulsed by the sun, Felix shined brighter than it.
     “Just fine, thank you,” Y/n smiled
     “This is Changbin,” Chan introduced her to the other vampire.
      “Pleasure to meet you,” Y/n smiled as Changbin stood and took one of her hands.
     “Pleasures all mine.” Changbin leaned down and kissed her knuckles
     “And over there is Hyunjin,” Chan stated, pointing at the painter.
     “He can get lost in his art sometimes,” Felix stated as they all looked at the vampire
     “Hyunjin!” Changbin yelled at him, startling the vampire, “Don’t be rude and come greet our guest!”
     “You don’t need to yell,” Hyunjin sighed as he set his paintbrush down and joined the group. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, princess.”
     Hyunjin took her hand as well and kissed her knuckles as he bowed. He was taller than the other three vampires when he stood to his full height, though he was on the slimmer side like Felix.
     “Are the others asleep?” Chan asked
     “Seungmin and Jeongin went into town. I believe Minho and Han are both asleep,” Changbin answered
     “We’ll introduce you to the others later then,” Chan sighed
     The four sat as Hyunjin returned to the easel and his painting. Y/n learned they were all lords, not royals like here. The eight equally shared the land and a few surrounding areas. Y/n figured their lower status made her father not want to pay the debt. Even then, the fact that they were all vampires should have been reason enough to pay the debt.
     Eventually, Hyunjin joined them. Most of their conversations were simply just them getting to know each other. Even though they were all undead, they still preserved their humanity. Y/n forgot she was speaking with vampires for a time.
     Eventually, they did have some things to attend to in town and business to take care of in their studies. Hyunjin and Felix escorted Y/n while Chan and Changbin headed into town. The two males headed to do their work as Y/n insisted she would be fine on her own.
     Y/n made her way to the library. It was silent, peaceful. Y/n smiled as she looked through the shelves. Not looking for anything in particular. Her hands ran over the spins as she skimmed the titles. One caught her eye, causing her to pick it off the shelf.
     The book was very well kept, with a beautiful cover as well. Y/n opened the cover as she walked back to the center where she spotted a table and sofas when she entered. She took a seat and fixed her dress before continuing to read.
     Occasionally staff came in to clean and offered her some tea. She’d thanked the staff. No one bothered her other than to offer her tea or food. She felt as though she was back to her life before the war. Just less yelling in the building.
     She didn’t know how long she sat in the library reading until someone opened the door. She looked up to see who it was to see a new face. “Hello,” Y/n greeted him
     “Who might you be?” He asked
     “My name is Y/n, I’m—”
     “The princess.” He interrupted.
     “Yes. And may I ask who you are?”
     “Seungmin,” He replied as he joined her on the chair opposite.
     “You’re one of the vampires,” Y/n said as she closed the book to give him her attention
     “What gave it away?” He asked
     “Changbin mentioned your name earlier. And your demeanor doesn’t reflect the staff.”
     Seungmin nodded, “Smart. Not what I initially expected.”     “My mother made sure I was properly educated in more than just the usual etiquette.”
     “So why are you here?”
     “My father and his advisors hired you all to fight our war after my brothers passed. They refused to pay it or even tell me about it so I could help. I’d rather be a prisoner than my kingdom suffer.”
     “Not save your father? I heard Minho almost killed him.”
     “The people of my kingdom matter more.” Y/n turned her attention back to her book.
     “This was an escape for you, wasn’t it?” Seungmin had appeared in front of her, tilting her head up to look at him. The proximity made her face warm. “Old man left you to deal with his consequences and you saw an opportunity to leave them behind so you took it.”
     “I—”
     “Tell me I’m wrong. You using the guise as collateral to get away from him.”
     Y/n didn’t say a word. Mainly cause they had left her as he held her chin. “What do you desire, princess? Is it freedom? Royals never get that.”
     “How did you—”
     “I thought vampirism was the answer to my problems when I was alive.”
     Her eyes searched his for any further answers before he pulled away and walked out of the library. Leaving her confused.
     The conversation stayed with her the rest of the day. Even after she met Jeongin and Jisung, and formally Minho.
     Especially well into the night as she sat up by her window. She had a wonderful view of the night sky, better than the one at her castle. Her attention was turned from the sky as there was a knock at her door. She expected one of the maids, instead, she was met with Hyunjin, carrying two glasses and a bottle of wine— at least she hoped it was wine.
     “Pardon my late-night intrusion,” He said as he closed the door.
     “Pardoned since I see you come with gifts.” Y/n smiled as he walked over to the window to join her.
     “A kind ruler you are,” the two laughed as she made room for him on the window sill. “I take it you do drink.”
     “On occasion. Not often.”
     “Is getting through your first day with vampires an occasion?”
     “Yes.”
     Hyunjin poured her a glass before pouring himself one. They raised a glass to each other before taking a sip of the red liquid. “I heard about your conversation with Seungmin.”
     “Is that why you brought the wine?”
     “Partially. He can be too much sometimes but he means well.”
     “Do you know what he was like before he turned?” Y/n asked
     “No. That’s between him and Chan.”
     “Why Chan?”
     “He’s a greater vampire. He’s the one who turned us all at the end of our human lives.”
     “There are different types of vampires?”
     “Greater and Lesser. Just the two types.”
     “How did you all meet?”
     “Felix is from here so he’s known about Chan all his life. The rest of us came escaping from or searching for something. I had heard stories about vampires and came mostly for inspiration. I ended up becoming gravely ill. Becoming a vampire saved my life. Minho, Changbin, and Han were already here when I came. Felix came not long after me then Seungmin and Jeongin not long after. It’s been the eight of us since. Well, until you came.”
     Hyunjin smiled slightly as she returned it and sipped her wine.
     “Were you an artist when you were human as well?”
     “Yes, but it was more of a hobby. I've sold a few since turning.”
     “Can I see some of your work?”
     “Of course. Come with me,” Hyunjin got up from the window and grabbed the bottle
     Y/n got up and walked out of her room with him, arms linked as they walked down the hall. He walked her down the halls to his studio.
     He pushed open the door and let her in first before following in, closing the door behind them. He took a moment to light some candles around the room. Once there was enough light, Y/n looked around the room. Hundreds of paintings; started and finished ones hung on the walls or laid against them on the floor.
     They were far different from styles she had seen before. “Hyunjin,” Y/n said as she turned to the vampire as he walked up to her, “These are beautiful!” she exclaimed
     “Not many people believe so. That means a lot to me. Thank you, Princess.”
     “People are ridiculous. Always sticking to what it's pushed by royals of larger kingdoms, even though they can not afford it.” Y/n scoffed as she turned and walked around looking at the paintings.
     She noticed a theme; couples, places, and flora.
     “Do you know these people?” Y/n asked him
     “Not particularly. I've mostly met them on the street or back when I traveled for inspiration,“ Hyunjin smiled as he walked over to her, “I'm fascinated with love, not as much as I was when I was human. I’d talk to older couples about their lives. Human me thought love was eternal, but then I became a vampire.”
     “Is there no love for vampires?” Y/n asked
     “It's… harder. Especially since we barely leave the land. It can be hard when you live forever and the person you love is lying on their deathbed before you even know it.”
      Y/n nodded in agreement as she drank the last bit of her wine
     “Have you ever been in love, princess?”
     “No. Never experienced it, especially after my mother's death.”
     “Parental love is quite different.”
     “I honestly never expect to experience love while I'm alive.”
     “And why is that?”
     “Been told all my life I’ll be married off like a bargaining tool. Once my father passes, I’ll be leading, and then every prince or king will try to lay claim to the thrown. And they do not give you much of a choice.”
     “Princess,” Hyunjin grabbed her attention, grabbing her free hand and lifting it to his lips. Y/n looked at him as his plump lips kissed her hand before he lifted her chin to meet his eyes. “You will get to experience love one day.”
     The two kept their gazes locked before he offered to walk her back to her room for the night. Bidding her good night and kissing her cheek before departing. Y/n crawled under her covers, face warm and red.

Part 4 - Breakthrough
During Xi’s four week mandatory stay in the healer’s tent, she had seen many patients come and go. Some were weary and completely avoided her, while others made polite conversation.
In her third week she became restless. Her only source of entertainment were the few times her newly proclaimed friends visited or in observing the Tsahìk in her element. The art of healing had become fascinating to her.
And so ever so shyly, she’d asked Mo’at if there were small things she could help with. Things to keep her busy.
Everyday after breakfast and the slew of medicinal tonics Mo’at would lay out for her, Xi would sweep the tent, clean out chambers and tidy bed rolls before being scolded back to resting. Tsahìk had noticed her interest and would ever so often offer up information about the ingredients or tonics she was using- Xi was entirely intrigued.
But her time was up now. By the end of week four she already knew at that point she was practically only taking up space in the Tsahìk’s tent.
So when Neteyam had told her she was not going to be staying with her father yesterday, Xilä had her doubts. First thing this morning though, when he came to collect her for their daily lesson, he told her to pack her things.
Xilä never owned many possessions before. Yet in such a short amount of time, she now had a pair of pretty boots, not one but three whole outfits that were specifically made for her and a small growing collection of little trinkets that Tuk would usually surprise her with during her visits.
Neteyam led her to Salveen’s tent again that morning- him carrying her packed things in a satchel he’d swung across his body.
When they entered, Xi was surprised to see a gruff looking male Na’vi who stood next to an excited, smiling Salveen. The elderly woman quickly smoothened her hair as though trying to make a good impression and then held her joint palms under her chin, her eyes misting slightly.
“Xi, well you already know Salveen, but ah- this is Jxo,” Neyetam said gesturing to the elderly male, “Salveen’s mate.”
The intimidating man gave her a surprising kind smile and polite nod, which she returned.
“They’ve offered to let you stay here, with them,” Neteyam finished.
“What?” Xi asked, in disbelief. “As in...to live? I- but, won’t I be intruding?”
“Never! You are welcomed here. My D’avi is all grown up now and has her own mate and home and I- well, it will be up to you of course, but my Jxo and I would be ever so happy if you stayed. Will you at least come see the space I set up for you?” Salveen rushed out, walking over to pull back a hung up privacy curtain that was not there yesterday.
“It’s not much right now, just your bed- I wasn’t sure if you preferred a hammock but Neteyam said you’d like this better, he mentioned you get cold often. I promise we’ll fix it up nicely. Jxo’s a woodworker, so he’ll build you something nice to store your things in and you tell us whatever else you need and we’ll- Oh darling, what is it?” She broke off, seeing Xi’s expression.
Xi was emotional, she felt choked up and was trying her best to stifle it. “Nothing,” she said, shaking her head with a tiny smile, “Thank you Salveen. It is perfect.”
She walked into the little space and grinned at the neat nest of furs, blankets and leathers. Pretty flowers were strung from the ceiling and there was a odd bright device, which illuminated the space in a soft homey glow. Xi had learnt it was a human contraption called a lamp.
“So…you will stay then?” Salveen asked, with a hopeful smile.
Xi, glanced from her to her husband who was still quietly observing them- his gaze soft upon his wife- to Neteyam who leaned against a beam with his own encouraging expression towards her.
“If you will have me, then yes.”
“Ohhh Jxo! She said yes! Well um- okay, let’s get you settled then.” Salveen was a whirlwind- she practically attacked Neteyam to get her satchel of belongings from him, immediately ushering Xi back into her little nook to help her move in.
Neteyam and Jxo shared matching amused looks then moved back into the centre of the tent to allow the women their space.
“You have no idea how happy you made my mate,” Jxo said gruffly.
Neteyam laughed, “Thank you again, for agreeing to this.” Turning serious he said, “Jxo, Xilä’s father…” he didn’t exactly know how to word it. “He’s not allowed to visit. I don’t want him near her.”
Jxo eyed him for a moment then nodded. “Understood,” he said simply, tapping the handle of the knife on his hip in response.
This was why Neteyam liked the elder. He was a man of few words but he was honestly the best.
~
Neteyam was greatly surprised at how fast a learner Xi was. In the following three weeks since they’d started her lessons she quickly adapted to the labyrinth of the Omatikaya forest.
She was a determined student. Anything he threw her way she was eager to learn, eager to put her best foot forward and every time she shocked him with her ability to succeed.
They had fallen into a simple routine which suited his schedule. Early every morning he would pick her up from Salveen and Jxo’s where he would more often than not be coaxed by the elderly woman to stay for breakfast.
From there they’d head straight for the forest where they would cover whatever lessons he had planned for the day. They usually shared a late lunch while practicing her English skills, then he’d walk her back to her tent before heading off to perform his other responsibilities.
All that being said, she still pissed him off. She got under his skin for some reason which he was quickly realizing that quite frankly, he found her attractive. It was mostly also her constant notion to obey and submit to his every suggestion or request- irking every fiber of his being.
He gave up trying to get her to stop saying sorry. Sometimes he felt like she was a lost cause but then she’d say or do something to prove him wrong.
Right now, as he corrected her stance as she held a bow, he bit down the need to snap at her. She was flinching at every brush of his fingertips.
It annoyed him that she didn’t trust him. He was not her father. He was not a monster. But he had to remind himself of his own father’s words. About having patience, about being nice.
“For shits sake, would you stop doing that? I'm not going to hurt you!”
And of course…she flinched, again and of course, she apologized.
It was moments like these that he never understood why his father chose him of all people to show her the ways of his people. It made him question the Jake Sully’s sanity.
Neteyam was a soldier, a great warrior. He thought himself a great teacher too, since he also trained many warriors beneath him. But this was different. He couldn’t be the hard-ass he usually was with his trainees. She was not like most of his students- she was not like any of them.
Xilä was soft, sensitive. Delicate.
He also had to keep reminding himself that she had a bad past- he wasn’t sure she ever knew what kindness was before she got here.
“Look, you’re going to need to start fully trusting me okay? I can’t keep walking on eggshells around you, worried that every time I touch you, you think I’m going to hit you or whether I’m going to hurt your feelings with every word I say. We’ve been in this together for more than three weeks already, Xilä.”
She put the bow down and faced him- her gaze averted. “If you think your words hurt me, they don’t. Say what you wish. I promise, it will not bother me,” she shrugged, not even seeming bothered.
“Why? Because you’re so numb to all the shit your father has said to you?”
She flinched again and shook her head silently, hurt written all over her beautiful face but Neteyam wasn’t deterred. He was frustrated, he needed to get her out of her own head- it was time to finally fix this. Otherwise, what was the point?
“It's true though isn’t it? You let him walk all over you and now you’re letting me do the same thing?” He stepped closer and she automatically backed away, arms wrapping around herself, head bowed in submission.
He followed her, matching her for every step she took. “Well see, I call bullshit…they do hurt you. Don’t they?”
She said nothing.
“But you can stop it. You can do something about it....You want to know what I think? I think you’re strong. I think you can get out of this fucking spell your father seems to have you under….Nothing to say? Fine. Let's play a game, shall we?”
She remained silent, but he could see that her breathing was becoming erratic. He knew she was shutting down.
“If I yell at you and call you names, what are you going to do about it? Hm?”
Silence.
“If I get in your face like this, what do you do Xilä?” He asked harshly, as he closed the distance between them.
“If I grab you and shake you, what do you do?” He gripped her arms in a firm but gentle hold. “Look at me Xilä, what are you going to do about it?!”
“Stop. Please- I- I don’t like this game.”
“We’re not playing right now sweetheart! You need to wake up! You let your father treat you like shit!”
“N- no,” she whispered.
“Yes, you do.”
“No.”
“Get mad Xi.”
“NO.”
“Come on. Do something!”
“NO!”
“Yell. Scream. Hit me dammit!”
WHAP!
She slapped her hands against his chest hard. “Let me go!” She hissed angrily as she shoved him.
His grip on her fell away at another shove and furious tears filled her eyes as she began yelling at him.
“Stop it! Stop it! I hate you!” Shove. “I HATE YOU.” Shove. “I hate you so much!” With one last shove she began to hit, slap and punch his chest, screaming curses of hate at him.
Her fists beating against him caused no actual pain to him, but he could see the anguish it was causing her. Over and over she pummelled him and he let her at it. This was good, he thought- she needed this.
When the fight left her, she sagged against his chest- fingers tethered in his warriors belt for balance as she breathed heavily. He was shocked to see that her face was dry. Not one single tear had fallen.
“Xi,” he cupped her cheeks and raised her face. “Look at me please... Eyes, Xilä.”
She peered up at him looking so broken, it tugged at his heart.
“Hey, it’s okay. You can cry.”
She sniffled, “But I can’t...It’s a Na’vi’s sign of weakness, remember?”
“No. No sweetheart it’s not. I am telling you right now it’s okay to cry. Forget whatever bullshit your excuse of a father has-”
“Neteyam.” The moment the first tear fell, it was like a dam breaking.
Her head fell against him and she cried, bitterly.
“I’ve got you, I’ve got you,” he soothed, drawing her closer, stroking her hair a few times before cupping the back of her head with his large palm as she sobbed silently.
He held her for a long time, whispering soft words in her ear, letting her have her moment.
When her shoulders finally stopped shaking, he murmured, “You did good sweetheart. I’m proud of you.”
She looked up at him with puffy eyes, a purple nose and stained cheeks. “I don’t actually hate you. I don’t know why I said that,” she rasped.
He chuckled, “I know you don’t…and I don’t think you meant it for me,” he said, wiping away one last escaping tear.
“Oh,” she replied, understanding what he meant.
“We’re going to have to work on your punching skills though,” he teased, rubbing a palm over a pec.
She gasped, horrified, pressing her palms against his tear soaked chest in worry. “Oh my Eywa…I didn’t hurt you did I?”
“Not even a little, we’ll fix it though, don't worry. You’ll be a badass in no time.”
“Bad-ass…and that’s a good thing?”
“Oh definitely,” he replied, stepping back to pick up her discarded practice bow. “Now, are you up to giving this another try?”
She wiped her cheeks, determination peaking through as she strode forward to claim the weapon.
They had a breakthrough that day. Pretty much after that, there was a shift between the two. It wasn’t an instant fix of course, but in the following week, Neteyam noticed the subtle changes between them- the changes in her.
She no longer shied away from his touch or accidental brushes. She also took his teasing or tough corrections in stride and would occasionally jibe back at him.
Xilä trusted him.
~
Tonight was Xilä’s first communal feast. To say she was nervous was an understatement but Neteyam thought it was time- she had put it off more than enough- she needed to socialize outside of her small circle.
She'd been here for two months already!
“You ready?”
“Mhm.”
He smiled at her anxious fidgeting. “Xi. It's just dinner alright?”
“Right,” she nodded.
The clearing they entered was packed with Na’vis, Avatars and humans. Clusters of friends and families happily chatting and laughing as they ate. Neteyam was right, there was no segregation.
She stuck close to him as he weaved his way through the seated crowd.
Neteyam spotted his brother joking around with his friends and made a beeline for them. “Skxawngs,” he greeted them all, with a smirk as he crouched in front of his brother.
“Hey bro. I seriously don’t know how you two haven’t met yet but this is Xilä,” he tugged on her hand for her to crouch next to him and get comfortable, his tail running along her ankle encouragingly. “Xi, this is my brother, Lo’ak.”
Lo’ak jerked his chin in acknowledgment, barely glancing in her direction. “Hey man, where the hell have you been? We had training with dad. He’s pissed.”
“I know but there was an accident on my patrol shift, I got tied up. I’ll make up for it tomorrow,” he responded, trying to brush it off.
“He said he wants to talk to you,” Lo’ak said, jerking his chin towards their father.
Neteyam nodded and looked back to scan the crowd. “Xi listen, I hate to leave you right now but I’m going to be just there for a second okay?” He pointed over to where Jake Sully and his wife were seated.
“Okay,” she replied, staring at him.
“Okay, okay?” He asked, double checking, reaching out to give her hand a little squeeze.
“Yes,” she replied with one of her beaming smiles.
“Lo’ak will keep you company, right bro?” Neteyam jokingly ruffled his head and the younger brother pushed him away with a scowl, grumbling a “not a fucking babysitter” under his breath, but she heard anyway.
Xilä couldn’t help but follow Neteyam with her eyes as he made his way to his parents. She felt anxiety slowly creeping the moment he’d left her side...but this was good right? She had to learn to not always rely on him.
“....so pale and look at her ears-”
“Nah man look at her eyes.”
“...such a freak.”
“I dunno, she could be kinda pretty if you squint.”
Xi bit her lip as she heard the obvious whispers of Lo’ak’s friends muttering and snickering among themselves.
“Shut the hell up up assholes!” Lo’ak hissed at them before turning back to her. “...Aren’t you gonna eat?”
She shook her head in response and looked down at her feet so she could hide behind her curtain of hair, tucking her knee into her cheek.
Lo’ak sighed out loud as if annoyed. He grabbed a large leaf then began filling it with some of the dishes he and his friends were sharing out of, then scooted closer to her and nudged her thigh.
“Look, I’m sorry about them. They're just being skxawngs, I’ll talk to them. Have a bite, I’m sure you’re starving. If my brother’s the one training you, it probably means you burned a shit load of calories. I should know,” he joked.
“Thank you,” she said with a forced smile as she accepted the meal. Lo’ak was so very different from his brother she thought.
The food before her was unlike what she was usually served in the healing tents- although still extremely delicious, Mo’at had had her on a strict nutritious eating plan. Even the meals Salveen was now preparing for her were in keeping with the healer’s orders.
She took a hesitant bite of the meat and instantly lit up. It was probably the most delicious thing she ever had in her life. She tasted the cooked fruit next and up went her tail- sailing happily.
“You act like you’ve never had food before,” he said mockingly yet amused by her behaviour.
Xi licked her lips and deflated a little. She had forgotten she was in public for a minute there.
“You don’t like me very much, do you?” She asked.
He seemed genuinely surprised by her straightforwardness, so he returned the gesture. “Not really, no.”
She glanced over at Neteyam for probably the tenth time since he was gone. “Well that’s okay. I’m used to it, but at least you’re being honest upfront. What do you call this meat? It’s good.”
Lo’ak frowned. He didn’t expect that response. “…Uh, it’s fish not meat,” he said offhandedly,  “and what do you mean you’re used to it? Do people usually not like you or something?”
She swallowed another bite of the fish, deciding it was officially her favourite. “Well yes, they usually do. It is the way it has always been. That is why I am used to it,” she shrugged.
“The hell…” he muttered. “I’m sure you're exaggerating right now…you’re saying it’s always been that people don’t like you? That’s a fucking lie if I ever heard one…what about back home? In your clan? No friends your age?”
“There aren’t many Na’vis my age back there and if you really think about it, who wants to befriend the daughter of the man they all already hate?”
Xi hummed when she ate another bite, “Do they serve this fish every night? I like it.”
Lo’ak stared at her incredulously. He had never been so wrong about a person in his life he thought foolishly.
He’d met her father numerous times since their arrival two months ago and decided that he was a foul sad excuse for a man- no wonder his people had shun him. He’d seen the way the man was slowly testing his father’s patience and wondered why he was even allowed to stay in the first place.
Lo’ak heard the rumours of the strangle wild girl and he had to admit maybe he did judge too quickly. He had flat out refused every time Spider invited him along to visit her when she was staying under the watch of his grandmother.
He guessed he could chalk it up to being childish because it seemed everyone in his life had suddenly taken an instant liking to the strange girl.
She was all they talked about at home for almost a month straight.
His parents were constantly asking for updates about her health from his grandmother and then it was them always asking Neteyam about her lessons. Lo'ak purposely zoned out any conversations once he heard the words Xi or Xilä.
Even Tuk, Spider, Kiri had all befriended her with no hesitation- he didn’t get it. He didn’t try to.
Quite simply put…Lo’ak was jealous.
“My brother obviously likes you, he spends all day with you,” he said, trying to show her that she was wrong.
Xi frowned, feeling a tad guilty. “Your brother has no choice to spend his days with me, your father appointed him as my-”
“My brother likes you. Trust me alright,” he said with an eye roll. He did a double take when he spotted something on her arm as she raised it to swat at a flying insect.
“So where’d you get the bruise?” He pushed, popping a handful of sweetened seeds into his mouth.
“It’s nothing,” she replied, shifting so that the almost faded mark was hidden from view- it was barely noticeable anymore, it surprised her that he could even see it.
“Your father do that a lot? Leave bruises?”
She frowned, “I thought you didn't like me. Why do you care?” Xi was annoyed by his invasiveness- they had just met for Eywa sake, who even asked questions like that to people they didn’t like?
“Because. I changed my mind. I like you. I think we should be friends,” he said with a wild grin.
“What?” She exclaimed, her head snapping towards him. “You- you want to be my friend?” She asked, confused. “Just like that? Why?”
He shrugged. “Why not? I think it would be a good idea anyway. Freaks should stay together, no?”
“Freaks?” She frowned. She’d heard the word freak, whispered behind her back before. Lo’ak’s friends had said the same thing not even ten minutes ago.
“Yeah, like a weirdo- not normal,” he smiled, wiggling his fingers at her.
She gasped- just noticing. “You have an extra finger!” She cried, reaching out to touch, then immediately pulling back, sheepishly.
Lo’ak laughed out loud at her reaction and she felt herself flush as a few people looked their way.
“Yeah, got an extra toe too,” he said, showing her.
~
Neteyam glanced back at the sound of his brother’s laugh. He and Xilä were both grinning. Lo’ak was obviously making her laugh too from the way he could see her shoulders shaking. He was glad that they were getting along.
“Neteyam.” Fe’ska, one of his mother’s good friends and a respected member of their council, crouched next to him, as he stooped before his parents, chatting with them. “Forgive me for intruding,” she smiled, glancing at his parents and then him.
“You are always welcomed Fe’ska,” Netiri said, squeezing her friends hand in greeting, Jake nodded politely.
“I was wondering whether you had an answer as yet Neteyam…about what we discussed a few moons ago,” she shot Neteyiri and Jake an apologetic look.
“I am not rushing of course, it is just..my Leati is quite eager for the match and I admit my husband and I are too. The council of course will also be relieved to know that you are in a secure match and that as Jake's heir- on the right path as future Olo'eyktan.”
Three pairs of eyes fell upon him expectantly and Neteyam swallowed. Every sentence that came out of Fe’ska’s mouth had him itching to flee.
“I apologize, I hadn’t given it any further thought yet but I promise I will try to,” Neteyam said dutifully.
“Well, that is all I ask. Leati will be most happy to hear from you. You know she can be a bit shy,” she laughed.
Neteyam chuckled at that, because in truth, Leati, Fe’ska’s daughter was the least shy person he had ever met.
When Fe’ska eventually left, his mother shot him a disappointed look. “Have you truly not decided yet? Leati is a lovely girl. What is taking you so long?”
“Neytiri,” Jake murmured in disagreement and she huffed but nodded.
Neteyam’s ears folded downward, he hated disappointing his parents. “I am sorry mother, I only want to be sure.”
Neytiri caressed her son’s cheek. “A bond between a man and a woman is for life. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be sure. I am sorry if I made you feel pressured.”
“It’s fine,” he said, standing. “I’m going to have my meal, I will see you back at home.”
Jake and Neytiri bore matching frowns of concern at their son's retreating back.
~
Dun Dun Dunnnnnn. *Hides*
So this is a little bit of a filler, more to come in the next part.
But heyyyy. We've got Lo'ak! Yay! A rocky start I'll admit...but at least he and Xi are friends now.
As always, let me know what you guys think :)
Ps. I'm sorry our boys were meanies today.

Head Over Heels (pt.1)
Tumblr media
₊°✧︡˗ˏˋ❤ˎˊ˗ Miguel O'Hara x Spider! fem!Reader
Summary ; Miguel and (Y/N) realize that they are head over heels for each other.
Warnings ; Mention of child loss, panic attack. Hurt/Confort. Jealousy!Miguel. Non-consent kiss.
It was a Friday of paperwork. (Y/N) Drew was doing yesterday's mission report, which had not gone quite well since the anomaly, a variant of the green goblin, had been able to escape. Miguel wasn't entirely happy with the result, but let it go. (Y/N) thought he was going to scold her as usual, but that didn't happen. He simply told her that the problem was easy to fix and told to prepare herself so she could catch him on the next mission.
She and Miguel had years of friendship, along with Jess and Peter. She was one of the first recruits and she was one of the strongest. (Y/N)'s past wasn't unknown to anyone, she was from earth 1610-B. A reality where she was a female clone of Peter Parker, created by Doc Ock and the Ben Reily of that dimension.
Since he met her for the first time, Miguel knew that she was a person to trust, which is why their bond was so strong. You could say they were "best friends". Although, for (Y/N), Miguel wasn't just a simple friend, the small details and gestures of him made her fall in love with him. One of the key moments of their friendship, was that time (Y/N) found Miguel having a panic attack in his office.
On a mission, he failed to save a variant of his little daughter from the lizard's clutches. The image of his daughter's body was repeated over and over again in his head.
"I couldn't save her, I couldn't protect my baby" He yelled, throwing one of the monitors. (Y/N) cautiously approached when he calmed down and sat on the floor, leaning against the wall. "Can I sit next to you?" She asked with a sweet tone of voice, to which he denied, shaking his head, without turning to look at her. "Do you want to talk about what happened?" She asked again. Miguel didn't answer. "Do you want me to retire?" Miguel denied.
"Stay." It was the only thing he could say in a small voice.
For a long time, she was standing a few meters from him, until he let her get closer. (Y/N) knelt in front of him.
"Would you like to talk about what-" She was interrupted by a hug, which she responded by hugging him back. Miguel buried his face in her neck, letting out many more tears. Gently, she stroked his hair. (Y/N) realized that his breathing was back to normal. Miguel raised his face and looked into her eyes as she wiped away his tears. A weak 'thank you' came out of his mouth.
That had happened a few months ago. Thanks to that their friendship became even stronger, they had helped each other hundreds of times. He healed her wounds, she listened to him when he opened up about his private life. Sometimes they would go out to eat in their free time or stay up late to review the reports of the other spider people, which Miguel loved. He also comforted her when she didn't feel good about herself, since thanks to her origin, she questioned who she really was, a simple clone or "cheap copy of Spiderman" as J.J. Jameson called her. It was inevitable that she didn't fall in love with him, she knew the real Miguel. Deep inside that shell, Miguel was a huge nerd with a heart of gold who was passionate about genetics.
"(Y/N)? Are you picking up?" Miguel got her attention by snapping his fingers near her face.
"Yeah, yeah" She shook her head, clearing her mind. She turned her head to the left, looking at him. "What were you saying?"
Miguel rolled his eyes, grumbling. "I was saying what you can do to capture the anomaly. Take this antidote to sedate him. This will bring Norman Osborn back to himself." He handed her a small vial with a green liquid. "You have to inject it into his neck as quickly as possible, understand?"
"Yes, Sir"
Many hours later, she finished writing the report. She got up from her seat and stretched. "I'm going to sleep now, try to do it too" (Y/N) said putting her hands on her waist.
"No te prometo nada, I still have reports to review" (I can't promise you nothing) he replied without turning around. He was reading Hobie's report. "This is the most incompetent, worthless report I've ever read in my life" he passed his hand over his face as a sign of despair.
"Do you want me to help you?" (Y/N) clasped her hands behind her back and cocked her head.
"No, you go rest. You need to be fine for tomorrow's mission." she sighed. The truth was that he was sleepy, but Miguel was never going to finish reading the hundreds of reports that he still had left. "Ni lo pienses" (Don't you think about it)
"But-"
"No."
He moved closer to her and raised an eyebrow. "Tomorrow you have a very important mission, you need to rest" (Y/N) got even closer. "What are you going to do to me if I don't and I stay?" They could feel each other's breaths on their faces.
Miguel looked down, remaining lost in the brunette's lips. Obviously, (Y/N) noticed and did the same. They were inches from kissing, when Lyla's voice fortunately (unfortunately) abruptly separated them.
"Am I interrupting something?" She said laughing, to which they both flatly denied.
"Claro que no. Para nada" (No, of course not) Miguel mentioned completely flushed.
"Nah" (Y/N) looked up at the ceiling, while whistling. What were they about to do? Were they going to kiss?
"Whatever you say" Lyla shrugged her shoulders in confusion. A screen appeared in front of them. In the image, they could see the green goblin in what appeared to be a gala. "Norman Osborn on earth 1610-B, he is in a charity dinner for the orphanage of the city" Lyla continued saying. "I fear that his intentions are not good, I detected that he bring three bombs with him"
(Y/N) turned to look at Miguel with a smile. "The night will be long, my dear friend"
-
They were already at the evening. Not being able to enter with their respective Spidey costumes, they opted to dress up. (Y/N) wore a wine-colored dress and Miguel in a suit. They both thought they looked amazing, but they weren't able to tell each other.
They were dancing to go unnoticed. At that moment, the song "Fooled Around and Fell In Love" by Elvin Bishop was playing. They danced slowly, with an awkward distance. They looked everywhere with the excuse of finding Norman, but it was also because they couldn't look at each other's faces without blushing.
Despite their best efforts, they couldn't help it. Both were lost in each other's gaze. Longing to give each other even a kiss. The uncomfortable distance was shortening, they felt their breath getting closer.
"Can I kiss you?" They said at the same time. They were about to finally give each other the much-needed kiss, but a raspy voice interrupted them, causing them to turn around. it was none other than Norman Osborn himself. "Excuse me, gentleman. Could you steal the lady for a moment? I'd like to have a dance with her. Sure, if she wants it that way."
They both looked at each other and nodded. "Sure, no problem" Miguel replied with a small smile and left, sitting at one of the tables that were nearby.
Now the song that was playing was "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" by Morten Harket. "What a mainstream song" Miguel thought as he watched (Y/N) dance with him. (Y/N)'s plan was to have him close enough to inject him with the serum. So they were extremely close. Which made Miguel's blood boil. How he grabbed her by the waist, how he whispered things in her ear that he didn't want to imagine. (Y/N) just smiled awkwardly, reaching for the vial that was in her pocket.
Norman thought that she wanted to kiss him, seeing that he was getting closer little by little to his face, so he didn't miss an opportunity. "How quickly you fall in love, doll" He said and without further ado he kissed her. Miguel froze. (Y/N) Seeing that Norman was distracted, he injected the serum into his neck.
A Miguel se lo estaba llevando la chingada.(Miguel was really pissed) Seeing (Y/N) kissing with that anomaly made his head ache. Since when was he this jealous? All he wanted to do was just push him away from her, but he couldn't. The serum had to take effect.
The headache grew stronger when she saw him going to the bathroom, between kisses. He followed them and entered the women's bathroom. He walked checking the cubicles, until a blow stopped him dead. He went to where the blow came from and saw that it was (Y/N) with a completely unconscious Norman. "How was the drool exchange?" he asked the brunette, earning himself an elbow in the stomach. "You would have done it, idiot."
Already in the HQ, they locked Norman in a cell.
"What a night" Miguel exclaimed, taking off his tie.
"Don't even tell me" (Y/N) grumbled as she took off her hairstyle. "I'm going to rest, see you tomorrow" She turned around and opened a portal to her house.
"(Y/N)" Miguel caught her attention making her turn back to him. Come on, Miguel. Tell her. Tell her you love her.
"Have a nice night." It was all he said. He felt disappointed in himself.
And she felt that way too. She didn't just want to say a simple "I'm going to rest, see you tomorrow" she wanted to fill him with kisses and hug him as much as she couldn't.
But neither of them had the courage to say it and do it.

I wanted to translate this one post from a Chinese RWRB fan on Weibo that summarized a lot of Taylor did on the day of GQ events and how the fans felt about him, because it’s really sweet
Translation:
Puppy Taylor is really so sincere, and he’s sincere to anyone and everyone
In September during the Ferrari show he met Editor Liu and was invited to the event that didn’t even have a confirmed date. At the time he just said “I’ll come if I have time”. But in the end, he really came, straight after he finished his last event, and took a red-eye flight across the ocean by himself to Shanghai. He went straight to fix his style and fit after the flight and went to attend his friend’s dinner party, and helped said friend’s new magazine gain traction through live stream etc.
The GQ event suggested for guest not to wear Haute couture, some mainland celebrities still did, but Taylor chose a local old brand, and the brand’s passion about being eco-friendly just as he is.
Taylor is also so sincere to his fans. He signed book after book, and took photo after photo. He treasured the gifts fans gave him and carried them himself all the way. When he signs for fans he asks for every single fan's name and tries his best to remember them. Taylor also took photos of the fans, of the oarsman, and of the photographer. He laid down on the bow of the boat to sign for fans. And for the fans who didn’t come, he accepted taking video calls to say hi to them. He made hand hearts with fans, and when a fan asked to hold his hand, he didn’t even hesitate. He wrote “I flew across the ocean to see you” when signing books. He even shaved his facial hair which he kept for a long time to match the taste of the people around him, transforming back to ACD. Taylor sincerely praises every single staff member he crosses paths with and treats them like new friends. He’s spreading happiness with so much passion.
There’s still so much more, Taylor is just such a wonderful person, he’s just the best. 😭
Notes:
I tried my best with the translation, but I am in no way professional, so please forgive me if it sounds weird (The original post was choppy in Chinese too😅)
The translation of Taylor's name in the original post isn't his official translated name 泰勒 (tài lè, or "thai"-"le") which is just phonic, it's the fan translation 忒樂 (tè lè, or "Tay"-"le" ) which is arguably more phonic and means "too happy"
Puppy狗狗 is a nickname Chinese fans gave Taylor, I made a whole list of nicknames Chinese RWRB fans gave the boys here
Regarding the dress code thing, all of Taylor’s outfits from yesterday came from a Chinese local menswear brand that was established in 1980
Regarding his facial hair, the beauty standards of China prefer men to be clean-shaven. If you look at mainland Chinese celebrities of Taylor’s age, unless a role demands it, which is really rare, they rarely keep facial hair. I honestly don’t know if this was the reason Taylor shaved, this part in the post is just speculation, but there is this connection.
Regarding the excessive use of the word sincere, there really isn’t a better word (at least in my vocabulary) to describe what the op meant. But sincerity is a really, really treasured quality to Chinese people
Please understand that Chinese celebrity culture and fan culture is pretty different from Western celebrity culture and fan culture, so certain things they did are viewed differently on this side of the web/ world. If you want to know more about these differences or have any questions, feel free to dm me and ask about it.

SINCLAIR RESIDENCE
“Diana.”
I snap open my eyes lurching forward in panic only to smack my head against something hard.
“Ow!”
“Son of a bitch!”
Lucas curses stumbling backward. My head hurts so much it’s developing a pulse.
“What the heck, Diana!” Lucas snaps, holding his head.
“Why were you hovering over me like that?” I grumble, rubbing my forehead tenderly. I’m too tired to scold Lucas for swearing.
“Mom told me to wake you. Everyone is downstairs eating breakfast.” I groan flopping back onto my pillow. I don’t know what time I fell asleep or even when I did. But looking down I see I slept on my sheets with no blanket. All I remember is figuring out—I lurch forward again and Lucas flinches. “What’s the matter with you!?”
I ignore him crawling to the foot of my bed and sure enough, files and papers are scattered across my room. I push my tangled curls out my face, climbing off my bed and crouch in front of my papers. Everything came rushing back. The monster is a true predator and attacks based on primal instinct. We need to lure it to us with blood.
“Diana?”
“Hm?”
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, of course.” I reply, organizing my notes. “Why do you ask?” I need to call Nancy and then we can get Jonathan to help us find the thing.
“You’re mumbling to yourself like Sméagol.”
I scrunch my nose, putting a small stack of papers in its respective file. “Sméagol?”
“Gollum.” Lucas sighs.
I stop what I’m doing and squint at him. “Gollum?”
Lucas rolls his eyes, waving his hand. “Never mind.”
I shrug, returning back to my task. Where can we lure the monster? It can’t be in the forest, that’s where it lives, at least that’s where it lives where it came from. To have the upper hand, we need to trap it in an enclosed space where it can’t attack us. But where? Hawkins is a small town, there’s nowhere to put this thing without drawing attention to ourselves—
“What’s with the flowers?”
I snap my head to the side not expecting Lucas to still be in my room, especially after our collision. I blink. Flowers? Oh. I close the filing bin stumbling toward the dresser. The flowers Eddie got me are in a small jar of water. I was so spooked out last night I didn’t notice them. That also means Mom was in my room yesterday. I trace a finger along a petal and the butterflies flutter in my stomach. Suddenly the petals of the flowers turn to teeth and I recoil snapping my hand back.
“Seriously, Diana. What the heck is wrong with you?”
I open my eyes and the flowers are just flowers. No teeth. Just flowers. “Nothing. I’m fine.” I back away rubbing my head. The throbbing pain has turned to a dull ache.
“Are you sure?” Lucas asks. “You seem…” I arch my brow waiting for him to finish the sentence. A momentary look of discomfort crossed his face and he decides against saying what he really wants to say. “Chipper.”
“Ha. Ha.” I deadpan. “I didn’t get much sleep last night, if that’s what you’re referring to.”
“I can tell.” Lucas mumbles under his breath. I ignore his comment going into my closet to find clothes to wear for the day.
From the corner of my eye, I see the trash bag with my soiled clothes in the corner and my heart begins to beat slow and heavy in my chest. I need to figure out how to get rid of that without being questioned. I lick my lips and clear my throat sifting through my clothes. “Tell mom, I’ll be down soon. I’m just freshening up.”
Today we are going kill the thing and find Will and Barb. Then everything will be okay and life can return to normal. I can go back to dance and be the best damned Lead Marzipan Hawkins has ever seen. However, I need to find an outfit to start this chain of events. I find a pair of old denim overalls Mom gave to me from when she was a teenager. They’re a little big but comfy. I pull a plaid button up shirt and rummage through my shelf where I keep my long sleeve tops and pick out a white long-sleeved shirt. Throwing my clothes over my shoulder, I crouch down to my knees looking for a pair of sneakers. After all that running I did last night in boots, I need to be prepared today. Classic black and white converse it is.
I am surprised to still see Lucas in my room when I drop my clothes on my bed. He’s staring at the flowers on my dresser and I hope he doesn’t ask about them again. I’ve already been interrogated by Erica. I pass him to get to my dresser finding a pair of socks to put on. It is not uncommon for Lucas to be in my room while I’m doing something. Usually, he’s lying down on my bed reading a comic book explaining what’s happening to me even though we both know I have no idea what he’s talking about or I’m practising a variation asking him for his opinion on what looks better. But right now, my room feels the same way his room felt on Monday. Cold. Lucas is right beside me yet, I feel miles away from him.
I tilt my head to the side, studying my brother. Though intensely calm, his dark brown eyes held the smallest hints of concern. When he rubs the back of his head wincing in discomfort, my big sister alarm immediately goes off.
“What’s wrong?” Lucas stiffens at the question and my eyes go wide. I march to him reaching out to touch his head. Lucas leans back, frowning up at me.
“What are you doing?” He grunts, nostrils flaring.
“What happened to your head?”
Lucas presses his lips together as though holding back what he really wanted to say. I tuck a curl behind my ear and sigh, leaning beside him.
“If something happened to you at the Wheeler’s—”
“Nothing happened.” Lucas grumbles, stubbornly.
“Okay, well, something did happen or else you wouldn’t be here still. I’m awake now.”
“Fine. I’ll go then.” He grumbles, marching to my door. My jaw drops and I rush after him blocking his path.
“Lucas!”
I’m so confused and after my near-death experience, lack of sleep, and head trauma, my patience is running thin. I clasp my hands together closing my eyes and count down from five in my head. “I’m just trying to help,” I say as calmly as possible, opening my eyes. “You know you can tell me anything.” Lucas doesn’t say anything, but the line between his forehead disappears. “Is it about Will? I know the past few days have been hard and I am so sorry if I haven’t been there for you as much. But I’m here for you, you know that right?”
Lucas looks down, twisting his mouth. “I know,” he mumbles. “It’s just…”
“What?”
I can see the cogs turning in his head. It’s like he’s fighting within himself about something and it worries me. Usually, I am in tune and hyper aware of his emotions and what’s happening in his life, but with everything that’s going on with Barb and what happened in the woods, I feel like I’ve fallen off in being there for him.
“I can’t believe he’s gone.” He whispered.
I swallow down the lump forming in my throat and pull him in my arms. On instant, Lucas hugs me back and I inhale his boyish scent of coconut and the outdoors. We’re going to find Will and bring him back, I promise.
“You’ve always been there for me.” Lucas mumbles. “I don’t want you to feel like you haven’t. You’re always worried about me and how I’m doing, but Barb is missing too, I heard mom and dad talking about it. I’m here for you too, you know.” I bite my lower lip and squeeze him tighter.
As a big sister, my biggest fear is not being there for Erica and Lucas when they need me, especially if something is wrong. There is this pressure to be perfect and put together; to be a role model to them. I don’t want to disappoint anyone. To hear Lucas say that, makes me want to tell him what happened to me last night, but I decide against it. I need to keep him and everyone in this house safe.
Tumblr media
Lucas went downstairs after and I freshened up in the bathroom. When I made my way down to the kitchen with the trash bag and backpack in hand. I discreetly place it at the corner by the staircase behind the island, out of sight before making my presence known.
“Good morning,” I greet, pulling my flannel shirt up on my shoulder. I must’ve taken longer than I realized because everyone was cleaning up. Erica stood beside Mom on a stool helping her pack the dishwasher while Lucas and Dad cleared the table.
“Morning.”
“Morning, sweetheart.”
“What’s up with your hair?” Erica comments, scrunching her nose.
Leave it to Erica to point out every small detail. I was in a rush and didn’t have time to do my hair like I usually do, wetting my hands and combing my curls through with my fingers. I didn’t think I looked that bad. I frown patting my hair down. It did feel a little more voluminous than usual.
“She looks fine.” Mom assures, giving Erica a look. My sister makes a face that says “if you say so”, dunking a plate in soapy water.
“I made you a plate,” Dad says, pushing a bowl of yogurt and berries, on a plate with bacon and toast. I glance at the bacon on my plate, cringing and pick up the toast instead.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
I sit down scooping my spoon in my yogurt. My stomach gurgles. I can’t remember the last time I’ve eaten. It’s been a whirlwind of chaos that keeps getting more and more deep. Lucas scrapes leftover food into the trash handing Erica the plate to douse in soapy water to give to Mom who is packing the dishwasher. My eyes wander back and forth between everyone; at their normalcy. I miss when things were normal and I was going to rehearsals and hanging out with Nancy and Barb. Not figuring out where she went, what took her and how to kill it.
I glance at Dad as he wipes down the table. I haven’t seen him since yesterday afternoon when he drove Lucas to the Wheeler’s house after the funeral. Since the funeral I am positive Mom has filled Dad in with what has been happening in the house the past couple of days. Hopefully not about Steve nor Eddie. Although, I don’t think so or else Dad would’ve said something or at least alluded to it. He is less confrontational than Mom. I can tell he’s being cautious and giving Lucas and I the space to process our losses, but I know he has questions. Dad looks at Mom and she nods her head. Dad sighs, wiping his hands in a dish towel.
“Lucas and Erica can you excuse us? Your mom and I would like to talk to Diana alone.”
“You can talk to Diana, Dad. I promise you won’t even know I’m here.” Erica smiles, scooping up suds. Lucas rolls his eyes.
Dad doesn’t say anything, waiting for Erica to leave the kitchen. Erica drops the act stepping down from the stool, not without grumbling to herself and Dad softly hits her head with the dishtowel before handing it to her to wipe her hands. Lucas looks at me wondering what’s going on following Erica into the living room. I shrug. Mom and Dad have never both wanted to talk to me about something and the yogurt in my mouth feels like lead. I chew slowly on a piece of strawberry eying my parents. Mom sits down beside Dad, both of them share a glance.
“What’s wrong?” My stomach is in knots. Dad clears his throat.
“We got a call last night from Officer Callahan,” he begins, looking me in my eyes so I know it’s serious and important. I stop eating. “He said they found Barb’s car at a bus station a few miles away.” I swallow staring at my Dad repeating what he said over and over again. Each time makes my blood boil.
It doesn’t make sense. Barb’s car cannot be at a bus station miles away because Nancy and I saw it three blocks away from Steve’s house the day after we found out she was missing. A car does not magically disappear like that. Something’s wrong. I shake my head dropping my fork on my plate.
“No.”
“Sweetheart, I know this is difficult to hear.” Mom starts.
“No.” I slam my hands on the table. I don’t miss the way Mom flinches or the way Dad’s eye grow wide at my sudden outburst.
“Diana.” Dad warns.
“No, you don’t understand. Nancy and I saw her car the next day. It was in the exact same spot we parked the night before we went to Steve’s house!”
Dad looks at me as if I’ve grown two heads. “Who is Steve and why were you in his house?” I clench my hands into fists grinding my teeth so hard they might crack.
“It doesn’t matter who Steve is!” I shout. “What matters is that something is wrong. Barb didn’t run away. You know her. She’s not like that and she wouldn’t do that without telling Nancy and I!”
Mom gives me a look that says I’m going to be calm and patient, but don’t push it. “Diana there’s no need to yell. We understand—”
“No, you don’t! Nobody understands! Nobody cares!” My voice is shaky and I swallow the lump forming in my throat. I have never been so frustrated in my life. Barb is missing and everyone is acting like she left on her own. No. She was taken by that thing in the woods, but I can’t tell anyone because I’m still trying to wrap my head around what I saw and where I was. “Where are the search parties for Barb? The whole town was looking for Will, but what about Barb?” I cry. “What about Barb?”
The doorbell rings and I wipe my eyes suddenly feeling hyper aware of where I am and what I said. Mom and Dad stare at me, bewildered into silence.
“I got it!” Lucas shouts. I hear grumbles between he and Erica probably fighting over who can get to the door first.
“Diana!” Erica won the fight. “It’s Nancy!”
I push my chair back, rushing to the corner by the staircase where I hid my backpack and the trash bag. Quickly wiping my tears with the back of my hand, I hoist my backpack over my shoulder, snatch the trash bag and march to the front door. I can hear chairs scraping against the floor and two sets of footsteps following after me.
“Where are you going?” Mom asks.
I excuse myself passing Lucas and Erica avoiding eye contact. Shame eats away at me for my outburst, but I ignore it pulling my shoulders back and standing tall. My whole family is gathered by the door watching me.
“To hang out with Jonathan and Nancy again.” I sniff. “I’ll be home later.” I open the front door and Nancy is waiting patiently. Her lips spread to a smile, but it falters upon seeing my face and my family behind me.
“Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair.”
I stomp down the steps down my long driveway where Jonathan is parked on the street. I hear Nancy jogging to catch up with me.
“Are you okay—what’s that?”
“My clothes and shoes from last night.”
“Oh.” I open the lid to the trash bin at the end of my driveway and drop the bag inside albeit a little rough. “Are you okay?”
I let out a sigh, running my fingers through my hair. “My parents just told me that Officer Callahan called. They found Barb’s car at a bus station.”
“What? How is that possible? We saw her car!”
“I know,” I huff, marching to Jonathan’s car. “It doesn’t make any sense and no one is listening to us. Nobody cares! We’re truly on our own and I’m so…frustrated.”
“We are alone and it sucks, but it’s better off with just us knowing what’s happening.” Nancy explains, opening the car door. “I have a theory on how we can kill that thing.” I open the back seat door climbing into the car. I return the half-smile Jonathan shows me before realizing he’s in the same clothes he wore last night. “I was looking through my biology textbook,” Nancy continues, before I can question him. “And this thing is a true predator and hunts alone like a bear. I also has a strong sense for blood like a shark. We can lure it to us with—”
“Blood.” I finish, getting myself comfortable. “I was thinking about how it hunts too.” I push forward leaning on the centre console. “When we were in the forest, it didn’t notice us behind it when it was eating that deer which means it hunts based off pure instinct. It’s vicious in its hunting style. It waits for prey to draw near before it overwhelms it by ambushing. In order to catch it we need to think like it. Use its foraging behaviour against it.” Jonathan and Nancy stare at me processing my small rant. Jonathan looks thoroughly impressed and Nancy looks concerned. I rub my lips together, shrugging my shoulders. “I didn’t sleep either.”
“It’s strongest in the woods, where it lives. We’ll have to draw it to us.” Nancy finishes.
“Trap it. Kill it.” I confirm.
“We know what to do, but how do we do it?” Jonathan asks, looking between us. The car is quiet for a minute while we all think. A baseball bat, a gun and a mallet isn’t enough to lure the thing to us. We need equipment and a contained space to trap it. I lean back grabbing my backpack.
“How much cash do we all have?”

Omega!Shouto Pregnancy Emotions
Anon: This is a request take it if you like haha-Okay how is Todoroki (Shoto) while being prego? Does he get super sexual? Insecure? Happy? Moody? Scared? What does he feel and how do you react to those feelings?
(Hmm, okay, here are some of the primary emotions for Shouto during pregnancy. I hope you enjoy~)
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
Some of the main emotions that impact Shouto Todoroki during his pregnancy:
Pained:
Because of Endeavour’s less than stellar parenting style and discriminatory beliefs towards omegas, Shouto’s reproductive system isn’t especially healthy. For that reason, some parts of pregnancy are more painful for Shouto than they would be for most other omegas.
One of the impacts is that the doctors recommend a c-section delivery. Male omegas have a higher risk of needing a c-section than female omegas in general, but Shouto’s hips and pelvis are not very flexible, so he’s at an even higher risk. His hips are not used to shifting, something that he should have experienced gradually starting from teenagerhood but did not because of the super strong suppressants he was on.
So, while he’s pregnant, the following things cause him a lot of pain:
Stomach aches – his stomach is flush against his uterus which is not behaving normally and giving him some problems. It upsets his stomach and it’s something that lasts for his entire pregnancy.
Lower back aches – his hips do try to widen in anticipation of delivering a baby, but it doesn’t work very well for him and is quite painful.
His chest – the doctors are originally unsure as to whether Shouto is going to be able to breast feed. They give him some extra hormones to stimulate milk production in the hopes that it will help. It does help actually, and Shouto is able to breast feed, but the hormones make his chest very swollen for most of his pregnancy. This is common in late pregnancy of course, but for Shouto it’s a little earlier than that and a little more jarring.
You felt helpless as you watched your mate curl up on the couch in pain, knowing there wasn’t anything you could do to fix it. He’d been having stomach and back pains all day and had to come home from work because they had been so bad. You’d also come home from work to pick him up and take care of him. You sighed to yourself as you looked down at him. He was only three months along, but it was looking like he might have to stop working sooner rather than later. Shouto would be miserable if he was forced to make that decision, but there was nothing either of you could do about it.
Shouto’s huff of frustration pulled you out of your thoughts. He was fidgeting with the heating pad that was wrapped around the right side of his tummy. He had been having some trouble balancing his temperature since he got pregnant and he couldn’t warm his stomach by himself. Losing quirk control wasn’t uncommon during pregnancy but having to use a heating pad did make Shouto embarrassed at first.
“How are you feeling?” you asked, kneeling down onto the floor beside him.
“Fine,” came Shouto’s muffled voice from where he had his face buried in a cushion.
“You don’t look fine,” you teased gently, linking you fingers with that hand that Shouto was using to fiddle with the heating pad. “Is something wrong with the heating pad?”
“No,” he huffed. “It’s just too small.”
Without missing a moment, you replied with,
“That’s what she said.”
“Who said what?” Shouto questioned, eyebrows furrowed.
You snorted at the joke going over his head. He was never good at understanding innuendo humour.
“It doesn’t matter, my love. But the heating pad is too small? Is your back hurting too?”
Shouto nodded, nuzzling into the cushion and messing up his hair as he did it. You smoothed his hair back down with a hand.
“I know it only needs to go on my right side, but I still can’t get it to sit right.”
You hummed in understanding.
“You want me to go and get a second one from the shop? Or a hot water bottle or something? Unfortunately, I’m not sure we have anything else in the house.”
Shouto hesitated, seeming unsure.
“I really don’t mind going, this is my fault after all,” you joked, placing a hand on his small bump.
“You’re warm,” Shouto muttered.
“I’m warm?”
Shouto blushed and didn’t respond. A teasing grin settled onto your face.
“Do you want me to lay behind you?”
Shouto nodded vigorously but didn’t make eye contact.
You agreed, quickly gathering some water and snacks to put within arm’s reach, before you awkwardly climbed behind Shouto and pulled him flush against your chest to spoon him. You started to rub his stomach to settle him.
Shouto relaxed under your attention and closed his eyes.
“Try to get some sleep, Shouto.”
 Embarrassed:
Shouto doesn’t really suffer from insecurity, but he does get quite embarrassed sometimes at the new way his body is now working.
One very embarrassing thing that I’ve already mentioned is that his control over his powers weakens for the duration for his pregnancy.
During late pregnancy, hiccups involve accidentally setting objects in the house on fire. Shouto can put them out very quickly, but he still finds the fact that his iron clad control has degraded to be very embarrassing.
Another embarrassing thing for Shouto is the limitations on his independence.
Eventually, Shouto can’t put his own shoes on, or clean himself properly and he has to rely on his Alpha for all of it.
(Well, at first, his chosen strategy is just to keep trying by himself until he basically gives his alpha an aneurysm when he almost hurts himself by accident.)
Shouto gets moody and embarrassed when he has to ask for help for small things.
But by far the thing that embarrasses him the most, is his weak pregnancy bladder.
Sneezing becomes a dangerous game for him between the bladder and the spontaneous fire or ice usage.
At one point, Shouto refuses to have sex with his alpha for a couple of weeks because he’s too nervous that he’ll…er… well, lose control.
To deal with all the embarrassment, Shouto’s alpha needs to just downplay any incidents as much as possible, even going so far as to pretend not to notice certain things. This would go a long way in reducing Shouto’s anxiety and embarrassment. Also, indulging him when he says he wants to stay at home because he’s embarrassed will help him a lot.
To summarise, pregnancy weakens the control he has over himself in many ways, and Shouto becomes very embarrassed when he’s reminded of that.
Unfortunately for Shouto, pregnancy being horribly embarrassing is a fact of life.
Clingy:
It is very common for pregnant omegas to feel a lot more possessive and clingier with their alphas.
Hormones are all over the place, and omegas are technically at their most vulnerable (barring heats) so it is a very normal instinct to want to be around the person who their instincts consider as the safest and most able to protect them and their unborn pup.
Shouto is no exception. He pouts when you have to leave the house. He is not impressed at all if you come home with the scent of another omega clinging to your clothes, even if he knows the scent. He calls you about fifteen times on the days when you’re at work, mainly to ask when you’ll be back (even though he already knows), tell you innocuous things about his day, or ask you to pick something up from the shops on your way home.
Shouto is big on cuddling as well, and whenever you’re both in the house, he demands cuddles all the time. He’s a very minimalist nester and so he normally just throws on one of your hoodies and drags a pillow and a blanket onto the couch, before dragging you to lay with him.
(Shouto goes through so many films whilst he’s pregnant because he rarely gets off of the sofa and he likes to have a film playing while he lounges.)
Basically, everything feels better when his alpha is with him. All his alpha needs to do is make sure they’re with him as much as possible, especially in his third trimester, when he’s the most anxious and clingy. (Avoiding getting too close to other omegas is also probably a good idea. Pregnant omegas, including Shouto, can get very worked up about that.)
Your lunch break had just started, and like every other day for the past month, the second your lunch break started, your phone would ring. You picked up your phone in anticipation. Any second now…
Bzzzt. Bzzzt.
You smiled automatically as Shouto’s name popped up. You quickly swiped to answer and held it up to your ear.
“Hey, Sho, how’s your day going?”
“Good,” he answered, and you could distantly hear the shuffling of blankets as he rearranged himself on the sofa. “I finished the film Midoriya recommended today.”
“Oh, and how was it?”
“It was good but, I also finished the crisps you bought for me yesterday while I was watching it. Could you bring some more home tonight?”
“Uh huh, of course, baby,” you said, picking up a pen to jot ‘crisps for Sho’ at the top of your to-do list.
There was silence for a few moments as you listened to Shouto continue to shuffle around.
“When are you going to be back?”
“You know when,” you laughed gently. “Asking me isn’t going to make time go faster.”
Shouto whined into the phone, and you immediately sat up straighter. That wasn’t his normal reaction.
“Shouto? Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I…” you could hear a small sniffle through the phone.
“Hey, hey, hey, what’s wrong, sweetheart? Do you want me to come home?”
“I… I’m sorry, you don’t have to come home, it’s okay.”
“Shouto, you’re freaking me out, tell me what’s going on?” you tried to keep your voice steady to soothe him, despite your own worries bubbling at the surface.
“No, it’s just that,” a small sob escaped him. “Your hoodie doesn’t smell like you anymore.”
You blinked for a moment before sagging in your chair in relief. It was pregnancy hormone induced crying, not emergency crying.
“It’s okay, Sho,” you cooed. “I’ll be home soon, and I’ll scent it as much as you want, I promise.”
“Hmm, okay…” he sniffed. “But come home quick, please.”
“I will, if we hang up now, I can work through my lunch break and head home early, sound good? Maybe you should watch another film and the time will go more quickly?”
“Okay… Goodbye…”
“Goodbye sweetheart, I love you and I’ll see you soon.”

Warning: Swearing, Angst, Fluff just a tad bit,
Summary: Adjusting to her original lifestyle is hard for Charmaine. She’s pushing past her breaking point.

@camsthesadgirlnow you tooo!!💗
Tumblr media
-so it won't be confusing, the eternal flame is now under Charmaine's command so that mean if mazikeen say her trigger words she won't fall back under mind control.-
4:30 a.m. Charmaine walked down the hallway to make some tea. "I hope there are some packets left." She mumbled opening the cupboard seeing her favorite tea sitting on the bottom shelf.
After yesterday's evening little incident, Charm and Bucky came home before the rest of the team. So she has yet to hold Morgan. Footsteps approaching the kitchen took her out of her thoughts.
"I thought I heard someone shuffling around down here." Thor gave a small smile opening the refrigerator. "Couldn't sleep?"
"No, and I don't how I couldn't even though yesterday I slept well." Charm took her tea out of the beeping microwave. She grabbed some honey, pouring it into the cup.
"Did Barnes accompany you tonight?" Thor took some sliced pineapples and a bottle of water out of the fridge. Charm looked at him in disbelief.
"No. Bucky didn't, he said he wanted to give me some space. I denied it plenty of time but he wouldn't listen." Charmaine still had a raised eyebrow at what Thor was eating. "I've been gone too long, when did you start eating that?"
She got excited leaning on the counter. "Is my Thor eating healthy now?? This is exciting!" Talking about something else other than what happened while she was kidnapped or her mental health made her happy. Thor laughs putting a piece of fruit in his mouth.
"In fact I am. I just wanted to uh.."
His smile widens thinking about something. That indicated to Charmaine that it was definitely a girl involved in this habit. "Omg Thor, you have to tell me everything!!"
He laughed but not too loud to wake everyone up while she grabbed his hand pulling him to the couch. The two began to talk about this amazing girl he met two weeks ago while he was out jogging. They had agreed on helping each other stay in shape. It was such a sweet story.
"Wait wait so you guys are going out for coffee in the next..." Charm checked the phone that Tony recently has bought her. "15 minutes." She looked up at Thor to see if he needed to change anything.
"Let me fix your hair, Thor."
His eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. "Really? You'd do that?"
"Yes."
8 minutes later Thor sat between Charmaine's legs while she fixed his hair and braids. She was almost finished until she realized something was missing. "Thor where is Loki's piece of hair so I can put it in?"
"You actually remember what I told you about that?"
"Yes, I heard everything."
Thor held up the piece of hair shyly. When she was finished, his hair looked brand new. "Thank you so much, Charmaine. It's so good to have you back." Thor hugged her neck while they stood beside the elevator.
"You're welcome Thor, there is nothing I wouldn't do for you." She kissed his cheek. "Now go have fun on your date. I love you!"
Thor walked inside the elevator with a huge smile."I love you more."
--------------
an hour later Charmaine sat on the couch, barely able to keep her eyes open. Steve walking into the living room made her jump awake.
"I didn't mean to wake you Charm."
"I wasn't sleeping."
"Charmaine I literally saw you sitting there with your eyes closed. I didn't mean to startle you." Steve walked into the kitchen grabbing some things for training. You know he didn't have his shoes on.
Charmaine sigh rubbing her face hoping the sleepiness would leave. Truth be told, she was scared to sleep by herself. Scared that the nightmares would come back and this time she wouldn't wake up. "I wasn't asleep, I'm alright."
Steve came over, standing beside her. When she looked at him, her eyes were red from the lack of sleep. "Charm go get you some sleep. Are you okay? Do you need help with anything?"
"Steve-"
"I'm serious Charm, you look tired and I want you to be okay."
"I'm okay!" She yelled without even trying. Steve looked taken back.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to overstep Charm."
Charmaine rubbed her face, "No Steve I'm sorry for yelling." Tears weld in her eyes, "I just...I just wanna go to sleep without the nightmares. At first, I wanted to be alone, away from everyone but now I'm terrified to be by myself, Steve."
Steve grabbed her hand, making her stand up. He pulled her into a hug, "Let it out." She broke down in his chest, letting out her frustration."I'm here to help."
With Charm still cling to his chest, Steve walked down the hallway to Bucky's room. He knocked on the door. 3 minutes later Bucky scrambled to the door, opening it. It was still too early in the morning for him.
"Steve?"
Charmaine covered her face, walking towards Bucky. He wrapped his arms around her, "Charm? What's wrong? What happened?"
Steve shook his head, "She needs you and to sleep. You're not overwhelming her Bucky so don't push her away." He kissed her forehead then closed the door behind him.
"Hold me please," Charm whispered and Bucky nodded. He got into bed and she laid on top of him with his arms wrapped around her waist. Soon Charmaine's breathing started to even out.
Bucky watched her as she fell asleep, understanding why she wanted him to sleep with her.
---------
"Good Morning you," Tony said sitting at the table. Lori sat on the couch rocking baby Morgan. Steve, Natasha, Thor, Peter, & Bucky sat at the table eating breakfast.
Charmaine gave him a small smile, going over to the refrigerator. Since she's been back, the only person she hasn't talked to is Tony.
It made him feel a certain way but he just wanted to give her enough space needed.
"Where is Alexis?" Charm asked getting out some apple juice but it went unanswered. Bucky paused his eating, going over to her. "Unt Unt get something to eat Charm."
Charm rolled her eyes, "I don't have an appetite right now. I just wanna sleep." She grabbed a glass out of the cupboard.
Bucky grabbed a plate, putting cheese eggs, and sausage with toast. He went over to her spot at the table, sitting the plate down.
"Now eat."
"Oh alright." Charmaine rolled her eyes, grabbing the full glass and going to her seat. The food smelled delicious, and that made her appetite come back.
"You didn't get any sleep Charm?" Steve raised an eyebrow. Charm nodded her head, eating on the eggs.
"I did. I'm just still tired."
"So how you feeling Charm? Is everything okay since-"
Charmie cuts off Natasha before she could go any further.
"I'm alright, I promise you guys. Let's not focus on me. I missed a huge part of everyone's lives and I wanna know what I missed. Starting with you Peter!"
Thor looked at Bucky who just shook his head not ask.
Everyone noticed her weird behavior but just ignored it to keep her happy. " We won the decathlon. Ned and I finished our big star wars lego set."
"That's so cool. I wanna see it." Charm leaned forward intrigued. Morgan starts to cry and Tony gets up he could help Lori.
"Charm be honest with us. What happened when you were kidnapped?" Natasha furrowed her eyebrow, not caring if everyone wanted to ignore her weird actions. If Nat wants to know something, she'll find out.
"Nat.." Bucky warned her but obviously, she ignored.
"I don't want to talk about it Natasha, like seriously. It's not about me right now." The stare between the two was intense.
"Charmaine stop bullshitting us. Closed mouths doesn't get fed. If you can't tell us what happened, we can't help you."
"Natasha you don't know what you're talking about. I don't need help."
"Baby just go to the room, it's not going to end well," Tony whispered to Lori, he kissed Morgan's head. Lori looked at him with worry.
"Okay, honey. I hope she is genuinely alright."
When Lori made it to the room, Tony leaned against the wall watching the scene unfold.
"Natasha that's enough, don't push it." Steve looked between the two girls.
"Whatever it is, we don't have to know." Thor eased into the conversation. Bucky tries to grab Charmaine's hand but she moves it away.
"No, she's going to keep faking it with us. How are we going to know if she's been faking it with us this whole time and has been working with Mazikeen. We. don't. know." Natasha sneered not taking her eyes off Charmaine.
"I'm not doing that. I am 100% myself!" Charmaine looked at her family that held uneasy looks. Believe it or not, Natasha was right. They didn't know if Charmaine was putting on act for them and is working for Mazikeen. She looked at Peter.
"You believe her??"
"I don't know Charm, you used to be so open but now if it isn't Barnes, you're shutting everyone else out. You're not acting like my best friend anymore. What if this is your plan?"
That broke Charm. "W-What? No Peter." She stood up, sad and angry. " I can't believe you're all ganging up on me. There is nothing wrong with me."
"Well tell us what happened with Mazikeen. What are you hiding Charm?!??" Natasha stood up, raising her voice. Charmaine's sadness quickly turned into full anger.
"Natasha that's enough!" Bucky stood up as well.
"No, it's not enough. Tell us Charm! We're your family and you're holding secrets from us!?" Natasha leaned forward, trying to give her a push.
Charmaine yelled out in frustration giving into exactly what Natasha wanted. Her hair and eyes turned purple while her wings sprouted from her back. Her hands held fire. The team stared in shock at what she's been hiding.
"Oh shit!" Tony spoke in disbelief.
"Holy Cow!" Peter yelped.
"I did not know she could do that." Natasha mumbled not knowing what she got herself into.
The Eternal Flame stared at the team who debated if they wanted to get in defense mode. "Charm, just calm down." Bucky eased towards her. "It's just me and you."
His hand grabbed onto hers,"Me and you." Bucky looked her in the eyes, even when she was the eternal flame his love for her never change.
The Eternal Flame looked at everyone once more then returned back to Charmaine. Which traumatized her completely. She looked at her 'family' as tears formed in her eyes.
"Why would... Why would you make me do that?" She shook her head, letting go of Bucky's hands. Tears streamed down her cheeks. "D-Don't make me do it again. I can't..."
"Charm..." Bucky's heart broke seeing how scared she was.
"I can't..." She cried walking away from the table. Charmaine went straight into her father's. "Dad don't make me do that again."
"Without you wanting too. I won't kiddo." Tony kissed her forehead as she cried into his chest. Not knowing her powers, deep in thoughts Bucky was worried for his girl.
Tony shook his head at Bucky for him not to come closer. Barnes stared at them in sadness as they walked down to Tony's shared room.

“How pontual” Gojo smiled when he felt your presence on the top of the building he was standing along with Yuji.
“Huh?” Yuji looked around confused till he saw a black silhouette behind him.
“Hope you don’t mind Yuji-kun, I wanted a professional opinion and called a friend”.
“Are you sure this is the best place to do this Gojo?” You asked going around the boy with pink hair staring at his figure and sensing his cursed energy.
The building you agreed to meet him was one of the tallest in Tokyo, you could barely see the people on the streets from here.
“Sensei, is your friend a ninja?” Yuji asked, staring back at your figure, your black outfit left no skin to be shown while the kitsune mask covered your whole face and two swords remained crossed at your back.
“You worry too much Princess, don’t you believe I am the strongest?” You frown upon the use of the pet name. Yuji tilted his head to the side.
“I just don’t want things to go out of control” you moved your hands to remove the kitsune mask, your identity would still be protected by the mask that covered your nose and mouth beneath it, but Gojo stopped your hands as soon as you approached him.
“Keep it on until we finish okay?” He smiled, although he did not say anything else this was enough for you to understand he did not want the curse inside Yuji to cross eyes with you. “I’ll explain later, Yuji, now can you give us ten seconds with Sukuna?” Gojo stretched his arms preparing for a quick battle.
You moved to the corner of the building to give him space but still keeping an eye on the pink haired kid.
He was so young...
Black marks soon appeared on the kid’s body and the new cursed energy overwhelmed you making a shiver run up your spine.
As the heir of a clan that for centuries has the ability to control cursed energy, this scared you.
Sukuna’s energy was enough to destroy a big city like Tokyo as easily as a snap of a finger. In the past your clan helped Sukuna by increasing his cursed energy during battles but in the end, your clan also helped destroy Sukuna by suppressing his cursed energy as much as they could. Gojo asked you to come watch a quick demonstration, if the plan succeeded and Yuji managed to live long enough to eat all Sukuna’s fingers, it would be just a matter of time until the king of curses took control of the vessel and attempted some kind of mass destruction. If the time comes you wanted to be able to perform the same act that your clan did in the past.
Although, since Sukuna’s downfall your clan did not act as sorcerers anymore, instead they turned into rulers and politicians, living in big cities as Tokyo and controlling cursed energy just by existing there, a natural balance to the modern world, they would tell you, but none of this changed your mind when you decided to break the chain and become a sorcerer almost ten years ago.
The fight started when Sukuna ran towards Gojo murmuring something about seeing him again. Gojo controlled the situation fast by immobilizing Sukuna on the floor, far enough to not harm you.
“So?” Gojo asked, looking at your direction.
“You asked me to not do anything so I can’t say for sure, but I think it’s possible” you answered the white haired man.
Sukuna’s attention now was brought to you, he tried to read your cursed energy, you sensed that, but with the kitsune mask covering your face and eyes you doubt he recognized you as part of the clan that caused his downfall one thousand years ago.
Gojo again smiled at you, proud of you being able to take such a fast reading without messing with Sukuna’s energy, which he asked you to not do.
It would be better for everyone if Sukuna doesn’t make a target of you so soon.
“Alright, guess we are done for now” Gojo raised as soon as Yuji took back control of his body. You watched amazed as the cursed energy came back to a normal level.
Gojo asked Ijichi to drive Yuji back to the school and promised to talk to Yuji in the morning.
“I don’t know, Satoru. There’s only so much I can do alone, and I’m sure the rest of my clan won’t get involved with Sukuna if he returns. This is a huge responsibility for me...” you stopped talking, not even wanting to consider the possibility of such a powerful curse having complete control to do whatever he pleases and you not being able to do much by yourself.
“I won’t put you in danger, but for now it would be good if you could stick around Yuji, just to observe... I can put a good word for you with Yaga” Gojo dropped his arm around your shoulder playfully.
“You really want me to stay at jujutsu tech Tokyo just to keep an eye on him?” You removed the kitsune mask, now allowing Gojo to see your teasing eyes.
“I have my own selfish reasons too”.
The next morning Yuji crossed his path with Nanami around the school, having worked together once Yuji felt comfortable with asking Nanami about his sensei’s friend.
“Oi Nanami, do you know Gojo-sensei’s ninja friend? I met them last night but still don’t know what happened”.
Nanami stared at Yuji like he was speaking some foreign language “...Ninja?”
The elder was about to ask him to elaborate when the said sensei turned around the corner with you by his side.
“Gojo-san, Ojou-sama” Nanami bowed low when he noticed you coming closer.
“Ojou-sama?” Yuji looked at the person walking to them alongside Gojo. He did not recognize you at first, you now were using a colored Yukata and nothing covering your face.
“Nanami please, you know me long enough to drop this title” you smiled at your friend.
Yuji quickly made the connection between Nanami using the princess title and Gojo calling you Princess yesterday.
“Oh sensei, I didn’t know you had a girlfriend. You two make a beautiful couple” Yuji smiled.
“Itadori, show respect, Y/n-sama is an actual royal” Nanami whispered to Yuji.
After the downfall of Sukuna your clan reigned for a while, being the heir of the main clan branch and if your clan was still reigning that would technically make you a princess. Nanami insisted on referring to you as Ojou-sama in public even though you two attended school together years ago and long passed the formal titles.
“Sorry” Yuji bowed, still confused.
“It’s okay Itadori-kun, we will have enough time to get to know each other” you assured the pink haired boy.
“You are moving here?” Nanami asked.
“Isn’t it great?” Gojo smiled widely, now placing his arms on your shoulders and Nanami’s. “It will be like old times again”.
“Yaga accepted my request to stay on the campus and assist the kids,” you explained Nanami. Of course he knew that by ‘the kids’ you mean Itadori and his new found cursed energy.
“What a great set of teachers you will have Yuji-kun” Gojo tight his grip around you and Nanami “Why don’t you go find Fushiguro and Kugusaki while I show y/n her room?”.
“Yes, sensei!” Yuji smiled and bowed again before leaving to find his team mates.
“Let’s keep y/n secret between us, okay Nanami?” Gojo asked now that the three of you were alone. “Sukuna might not find out about y/n’s origins if she doesn’t mess with his or Itadori’s energy, the elders agreed to keep her around for now as protection”.
“I see… Well let me know if you need anything, Ojou-sama” Namami replied and fixed his tie.
“I need you to stop using that title, Kento” you smiled again at your stubborn friend and dropped Gojo’s arm from your shoulder going back to the path that led to your dorm.
“Always so polite, Nanamin” Gojo teased “Just don’t forget I’m the only one allowed to get on my knees for her” he released Nanami’s shoulder leaving his fellow sorcerer flushed.
“What did you tell him?” you asked Gojo when he got back to your side.
“Nothing he doesn’t know already” his large palm touched your lower back.
Your arrangements with Gojo were something known only by the heads of your clan, the two of you and few close friends. A promise made almost ten years ago allowed you to attend jujutsu tech and become a sorcerer if the only descendant of the Gojo clan married you by the time both of you got to your thirties. There was nothing in it for Satoru, but he agreed even though he barely left his teenage years.
“Satoru, What are we gonna do now?” you asked looking at your feet.
“We can start by getting you a pretty uniform, maybe a short skirt and a v-line” the hand that wasn’t at your back moved to the collar of your Yukata exposing more of your neck and collar bones and all the purple and blue marks painted there “A masterpiece like that has to be shown”.
“You are shameless” you slapped his hand away and adjusted your Yukata back. His flirty personality taking your mind away from the new responsibility of being Yuji’s guardian. “You know, we are two years away from the arrangements and I still wonder why you accepted it” you confessed, stopping in your tracks.
“Oh Princess, I’ll always be taking the side of rebel soul and you so happened to be the one that stole my heart from day one, you are not getting cold feet now, are ya?” he leaned and placed his arm on the wall behind you, an old habit that made you flushed when you two were younger, but now you can only bite your lips and raise a hand to lower his blindfold and meet his shining eyes full of admiration.
“Marrying the prince that saved me and the strongest jujutsu sorcerer? How could I get scared of that?”.
“Prince huh? I can get used to it”.

Same Fma anon as yesterday!! Thank you so much for the hcs! They were lovely, I like them so much :D I was so surprised by how quick you write, too. It's amazing!!
Since I'm a sucker for Ling and there's not nearly enough content about him, allow me to request another fluff hcs (I have so many ideas haha) but perhaps about a theater kid reader (gender neutral) who's stressed before the play? Thank you again for your work ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧
HIII NO PROBLEM!! YES YES OF COURSE!!! I LOVE LING, YOUR ASKS GIVE ME LIFE <333 and akhdjj THANK YOUUU!! Do I really write fast-?
~*~*~*
Content: Gender neutral theatre kid reader! :DD
Warnings: Mentions of past violence (not towards reader)
Notes: I finished high school on Friday, but the weekend before that my old high school did a play and all my theatre friends were losing their minds over it. I was never a theatre kid, but a part of me always kinda wanted to do it in high school. Instead, I was the writing, drawing, weeb kid lol

Tumblr media
LINGGGGGG MY BELOVED <333
Ling is a pretty eccentric person, I wouldn't be surprised if modern day Ling would be a theatre kid tbh (the whole cast of fma would be, don't deny it)
AYO MODERN DAY LING HCS NEXT???? sorry, I'm getting off track
You'd be backstage, trying to get your makeup and everything together, the friends you had that stayed backstage also trying to help
The buildup to opening night was so stressful.
Tech week had been awful, a few sets even broke mid-week, because two guys started a fight over a fucking color
Those sets had to be pushed to the side so everyone could finish the rest, get props ready, costumes, etc. and were finally hurriedly fixed at the end of the week
Multiple cast members harshly critiqued others on their acting skills or commented on some costumes and props, no matter how accurate they were to (the original media/the scriptwriters' initial vision)
You knew the shows break time would be the worst, you just hoped cast members wouldn't get into any fights
Your phone pinged, and immediately you grabbed it. It was Ling, your boyfriend
"Hey, I'm here! Where r u?" - the message reads
"Backstage" - your message reads
Almost immediately, the door gets kicked down, and there stands your boyfriend with a goofy grin
"Hi hon! Oh, you look stressed." Ling falters a bit, then gently grabs your arms and stands close to you. "Are you alright? Should I have brought more (favorite treat)?"
Ling had noticed before opening night how stressed you had been
So, being the amazing boyfriend he is, he was by your side whenever he could
He was cuddling you, giving you your favorite sweets, watching whatever shows you wanted to watch, giving you so much affection leading up to opening night; Ling was your saving grace
"No, no, it's fine. I'm really just nervous about the break."
"Oh," He draws out. "Okay. Well, if you want me back here then, I can do that."
"I don't think you're allowed." You giggle.
"I have my ways, hon." Ling embraces you, giving you a kiss.
Your friend going on stage with you knocked on the door and walked in. "Oh! (Y/n), sorry. Just came in here to say we're going on in five."
"Okay, thank you (friend name)."
They gave you a thumbs up and left. You turned back to Ling.
"You should head to your seat."
"I got front row, so you better blow a kiss or two at me." Ling teased, kissing you again and squeezing you in his embrace.
You laughed. "I expect nothing less, my lovely prince."
You both share one last kiss before Ling reluctantly pulls away. "I'll be back here at half time."
You laughed and nodded, waving him off. "I'll see you in the crowd."
"I wont blink for a second."
"...Ling, you keep your eyes closed."
At that, Ling opened his eyes. "I'll just have to keep 'em open, yeah?"
He then stuck his tongue out at you, making you giggle again. He then moved to the door.
"I love you, and your lovely laugh. I will see you at half time."
Ling then blows you a kiss before leaving, making you giggle again.
"Yeah...with you, I just might." You'd whisper, before adding on any finishing touches before joining everybody behind the curtain.

(Y/N) watched the buildings and the people of King’s Landing pass by as the carriage drew nearer to the palace. All eyes turned to watch them pass by, trying to sneak a peak at the latest guests for King Joffery’s wedding.
A warm hand on top of hers brought her back into the carriage, where the true royal guest everyone was excited to see smiled lovingly at her.
“You seem distracted my love,” he noted, bringing her hand to his lips.
“I was just watching the people of King’s Landing,” she responded. “They are...dirty looking.”
“The bastard king does not care for his people,” Oberyn responded. “If they are poor he has no use for them, so he lets them struggle and die as he pleases.”
(Y/N) winced. “These poor people.”
Oberyn squeezed her hand slightly. “The minute the wedding is over we will return home my love. Try not to despair for too long.”
(Y/N) chuckled humorlessly. “It is hard not to despair when I am dreading our arrival and introduction to the Lannisters. I have no doubts that they will make it known that I am unwelcome.”
“You have every right to be at this wedding. You are no less than I am.”
“I am a whore in royal clothing.”
“You are my wife. You are a royal lady, and you are much better than any Lannister could ever dream of being.”
(Y/N) smiled and leaned over to kiss her husband. He cupped her face with one hand, the other trailing up her skirt. Her legs opened instincitvely, allowing Oberyn’s hand to slip between them. Before they could go any further, the carriage came to a stop.
“We’re here, My Lord and Lady,” the coachman told them.
(Y/N) pouted as Oberyn took his hand away and fixed her skirt. He chuckled at her reaction. “We will finish this in private.”
They were approached by one of the King’s guards who then led them into the palace. King Joffery, his future wife, Margaery Tyrell, and his mother, Cersei Lannister, were all sat together in the throne room as Oberyn and (Y/N) entered.
“Your Grace,” the guard announced. “Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne, and his wife, Lady (Y/N) Martell.”
Oberyn gave her hand a reassuring squeeze as he plastered the best fake smile he could muster on his face. “Your Grace.”
“I believe my invitation reached the wrong brother,” Joffery said, giving the two of them a sour look. “I invited Doran Martell, the true heir to the Dornish throne.”
“Do not be rude to our guests,” Margaery mumbled to the King. “Welcome Prince Oberyn and Lady (Y/N). We are glad to have you as our guests.”
(Y/N) tried not to make eye contact with Cersei, but it was hard when the queen was glaring daggers into her. It wasn’t hard to tell that she was only married into the royal life, not born into it, and anyone who was less than royal was scum in the eyes of the Lannisters.
As if noticing her discomfort (or Cersei’s glaring), Oberyn wrapped his arm around (Y/N)’s waist and held her tightly to him. "Do you mind showing us to our room? It has been a very long trip for the two of us.”
“Of course,” Margaery responded. She waved a hand for one of the guards to show the two of them out.
She’ll make a great queen, (Y/N) thought to herself.
The room that was provided for them was large and already lit by a fireplace. The bed was bigger than (Y/N) could ever imagine. She threw herself down onto the comfortable bedding, her aching muscles from the long journey feeling more relaxed than before.
“That went about as I expected,” she said. “I cannot wait until the wedding so we can go home.”
“It will come soon, my paramour,” Oberyn said, standing between her legs at the end of the bed. “Now that we are alone, shall we continue what we were doing earlier?”
(Y/N) smiled and quickly pulled her husband down on top of her, causing him to laugh as well as he pressed his lips against hers.
~~~~~~
The next day, when the sun was high in the sky and warming the land, Oberyn decided to take (Y/N) for a walk around the palace. It had been so many years since he had been in King’s Landing, back when his sister Elia was married to Rhaegar Targaryen, but he could still remember the beauty of the place as if it were yesterday.
(Y/N) loved to see the beauty in places. Before catching Oberyn’s attention, she was stuck in the filthy whore house that barley let her see the outside world. Oberyn had the utmost respect for women who were only able to sell their bodies as a means to get by, but he had no respect for the men who treated their prostitutes so poorly. Now that he had (Y/N), he intended to show her every beauty that the world had to offer.
“This place is beautiful,” (Y/N) breathed as they walked through a beautiful flower garden.
Oberyn smiled at her and paused for a moment to pick one of the flowers from the ground. “A beautiful flower for my beautiful flower.”
Blush creeped across (Y/N)’s face as he placed the flower gently into her hair. “You could get in trouble for that.”
“I could get in trouble for many things, but still I do as I wish.”
(Y/N) smiled brightly at her husband and kissed him. He wrapped his arms around her, wanting nothing more than to just hold her forever.
“Ah, my apologies.”
The couple pulled apart to see a very familiar face entering the garden - that of Jaime Lannister, the King’s uncle and Cersei’s twin brother. Oberyn tightened his hold on (Y/N)’s waist as he regarded the Kingslayer.
“I was not aware anyone else was out here,” Jaime said as he approached the two lovers.
“We were just passing through,” Oberyn said. “I was showing my beautiful wife the sights of your lovely land.”
Jaime glanced at (Y/N) for a moment before smiling at the two of them. “You must be Prince Oberyn of Dorne. It is nice to finally meet you.”
Oberyn begrudgingly shook Jaime’s hand, keeping one arm firmly wrapped around (Y/N) still.
“I do not believe I have heard of you,” Jaime said to (Y/N). “You are Prince Oberyn’s wife? How long have you two been wed?”
“Over a year now,” Oberyn responded instead.
Jaime shot the man a look. “I believe I asked your wife that question.”
(Y/N) felt nervous in that moment, but managed to make her voice even enough to respond, “We have been wed over a year. We celebrated our anniversary just before we left for King’s Landing, actually.”
“What family are you from, if you do not mind me asking.”
The grip on her waist tightened. (Y/N)’s back straightened as she responded, “Before I married Oberyn, I was a Sand.”
Jaime’s head tilted, but he didn’t look as condescending as his sister. “That...that is the name of the bastard children in Dorne, is it not?”
(Y/N) nodded. She wanted to shy away behind Oberyn, but she knew the only way to beat a Lannister was to hold your pride no matter how much they tried to rip you down. “It is. I am unsure as to who my true parents are. I was delivered to the steps of a religious building and left to be raised by others. I was originally raised by the priest, but eventually they brought me elsewhere for the remainder of my childhood.”
The genuine look of sadness on Jaime’s face shocked both Oberyn and (Y/N). “I am so sorry, my lady. Were you raised by a kind person at least?”
“Well...kind of. I was....I was raised in by the owner of a brothel until I was old enough to work there myself. He gave me the option, luckily enough, but I was raised to think it was the only job I could ever possibly have.” She turned and smiled at Oberyn. “That is how I met my love.”
Oberyn smiled back at her and kissed her cheek. “I was taken by her the moment I saw her. I knew I had to make her mine.”
The memories of the day that (Y/N) first saw Oberyn flooded her mind. She thought he would just be another customer, but by the end of their session she realized he meant the sweet nothings he was whispering in her ear.
“Oh, I guess that is where I recognize you from.”
Oberyn’s head spun so quickly to glare at Jaime. “I am sorry, what did you say?”
The sly look on Jaime’s face was a direct mirror of Cersei’s, and (Y/N) felt her heart drop to her stomach as he spoke. “Your wife, she looked familiar. I could not quite place it, but now I realize it is because I just did not recognize her with her clothes on.”
Oberyn tried to advance on Jaime, but (Y/N) took hold of his arm and held him back. “Don’t, my love, he is not worth it.”
“Yes, Prince Oberyn, I am not worth it. Take it from your wife, she would know.”
Oberyn’s face turned blood red and (Y/N) had to physically pull him away before he could strangle Jaime. The Kingslayer was still calling profanities to try and rile Oberyn up.
(Y/N) took him back into the palace, cupping his face to make him look at her. “Oberyn, my love, calm down please.”
“Fucking Lannisters,” he hissed. “They think they can get away with everything! They think they can insult my wife like that.”
“Oberyn,” (Y/N) repeated, her voice softer this time. He looked at her and his face also softened. Oberyn loved the way she could always make him calm down so quickly. “It is nothing I have not heard before.”
“But coming from his mouth...” Oberyn said, his eyes darting to where they had left Jaime for just a moment.
“Means nothing,” (Y/N) finished. “He can try to degrade me all he wants, but at the end of the day I am still the whore that married a prince. I was chosen to be brought into this life, unlike them who were brought into it at birth, and I still have more class than that whole family combined.”
Oberyn smiled at his wife and kissed her passionately. “I love you more than anything.”
“And I love you more than the world, my love.”
Word count; 1.7k
゚・ 🌌ރ ੈ♡‧₊˚🎲 *ૢ✧ ۪ ♟️ ° 。
YOU WERE ENTERING Beacon Hills while looking at the forest around you which looked spooky, possibly because it was night or they were infested with those human dogs. Possibly both. You still remember the faces of Niklaus, Kol and Elijah knowing that you would live here. You think it was the best thing in the world, but you get it. That your sister, the youngest of the Mikaelson clan, decides to move alone, with no one from her family nearby and in a "city" full of dogs. You would also worry.
It began to be heard on the radio lurk from the neighborhood to which you began to hum it. This century was very different: 16-year-olds look like 18 or 19, their type of clothing... You did not complain, it is better than the clothes of before.
Six teens and two adults appeared out of nowhere to which you stopped. You got out of the car and they watched you from head to toe. One in particular made your blood run cold. Derek Hale...
You sighed and spoke.
"Forgiveness! Are you okay?" You asked, and the bearded one came up to you.
"What are you doing here?" He asks and you start to breathe. Human dogs have to hear it and feel it so they know that you are not something supernatural. Speaking of that title, it's the best series and more daddy Dean. You pulled myself out of your thoughts and looked from left to right to fix your gaze on the dark haired man.
"Me?" He nodded. "Sorry. Do I know you?"
"Don't act, Mikaelson," he snap at and Peter comes closer to both of you. The Good Peter, he was more your brother than the ones you have, well not so much like that but he was like a brother.
"I think you're wrong" you say to see him in the eyes. "My name is not like that" you say playing stupid, well! When you don't? Coming here you thought that Derek and Peter would leave and more because of what happened to his sister who did not doubt that Peter would kill her. But just in case you knew you would have to change your first and last name.
"It's not a name," says the older of the two raising an eyebrow. "What's your name?" He ask.
"Diane Jones" you say pretending to be a little scared. You saw how Derek would glare at you deadly and the teens stared at the scene in confusion. Wow! The redhead's shoes were fantastic.
"What brings you to Beacon Hills?" Asked Peter.
"I came to live here" you respond.
"Alone?" Said the one with black hair, super furious. He looked sexier like that. "Without your parents?"
"Excuse me, but I don't have to tell you anything" You walked back and Derek took your arm tightly and the children approached looking worried.
"You won't leave until you answer." Peter put his hand on Derek's shoulder with a "calm down" look
"And your parents?" He asks calmly.
"I do not have. I'm an orphan" you say looking at your feet. Seriously, you deserve an Oscar for best actress.
"How did you get here?" Peter still asked.
"My uncles sent me here to study and not cause problems" you say looking at Peter.
"Don't li-" Derek says to be interrupted.
"It's not her" said Peter. "Listen" as you said, breathing helps and more if it is accelerated when you feel threatened.
"Can I go?" You asked.
"Yes" Peter says. You walked to your car and your turned it on to continue on your way, when you saw that you were far away you start to laugh. Derek's faces and the wolf children, the banshee, and the humans were gold.
You arrived at your new home. You smiled when you saw that it was normal, not big and not too small. A normal house. It was supposed to be furnished since yesterday. You got out of your car and opened to see the living room, you closed the door and walked into the kitchen and up the stairs. You went into all the rooms and they were perfect and yours was much more.
It was big, being a Mikaelson it couldn't be small. You were already beginning to miss them. Well not all. Elijah and Rebekah's overproduction were suffocating. Also you will no longer be listening "little Klaus" or "little Kol" You're not like them, you just like to have fun. And you like being with them more. Kol and you, hunted and had fun at parties and flirting with people. Klaus gave you life lessons. You were amused by his stories and how could he be so... him. Of your seven siblings, you only loved Kol and Klaus, of course you had your differences: you were friends with Katherine and Klaus hates her, you love the Salvatore brothers with your life and they detest them, even more. You lay down on the bed and you smiled a smile that only bring problems.
Isaac Lahey Pov
"It was her," Derek says, somehow I felt concern and more to see how he reacted when he saw the girl as our age.
"Who is she?" Scott ask.
"Y/N Mikaelson" Peter said calmly.
"And she is...?" Stiles question them.
"She is one of the Originals and Derek's great love," Peter replies.
"Original of what?" Lydia ask.
"From the Original Vampires," Derek says angrily.
"They exist?" Almost all of us say at the same time.
"Yes. And between them the two hybrid of Vampire and werewolf" explains Peter.
"What is a hybrid?" Allison ask to which Stiles responds.
"Hybrids are a supernatural cross between two or more different species. The term is commonly used to describe a werewolf turned vampire, as they were the first type of hybrid introduced to the world. However, since the creation of the werewolf-vampire hybrids, there have been other hybrids of other races in the universe, such as siphons turned into witch-vampire hybrids, werewolf-witch hybrids, among others" he says to finish.
"How do you know that?" Asks Scott.
"I read it when I was trying to find out what you were, but I thought the vampire thing was a lie," Stiles responds.
"A hybrid is more lethal than any werewolf or vampire" Says Derek. "Nature does not tolerate such an imbalance of power. Thus, the warlocks, the servants of nature, saw to it that the wolfish side of Klaus and Y/N Mikaelson are asleep. But they are still a danger.
"Who are the Mikaelsons?" I ask.
"The Mikaelson family is a powerful family whose line goes back at least to the Kingdom of Norway in the late 10th century with Mikael and Esther, a wealthy landowner and a Viking warrior, and a housewife and a witch, respectively. In the early 11th century, the family was deadly until the loss of Esther and Mikael's seventh child, Henrik to a werewolf attack that spurred them to use Esther's magic to turn Mikael and the rest of their living children into the The world's first vampires, from whom all Vampires are descended from the original vampires, are known as the most powerful supernatural beings in the world, but the Mikaelson family is also known to have members who are also witches and hybrids. Among them are two hybrids: Klaus and Y/N. In total the Mikaelsons are eight; Mikael, the father, Esther, the mother, Freya, The first daughter which is only a witch and does not belong to the original lineage, Finn, The second son, Elijah, the third son, Klaus, the fourth son which is the hybrid and is not the son of Mikael but bears his last name, Kol, the fifth son, Rebekah, the sixth daughter, Y/N, the seventh daughter which is not the daughter of Mikael and the last, Henrik, the eighth son. Of these eight only are alive: Freya, Elijah, Klaus, Kol, Rebekah and Y/N" Derek answers.
''They wasted no time," Stiles says.
"Neither is Esther. Children of different parents" I say smiling. "But how did "first hybrids" happen?
"When Klaus and Y/N first killed after being turned into vampires, they triggered their werewolf gene, which finally reveals the truth of their true paternity to their family: Klaus and Y/N were not Mikael's children but the boss's children of her village werewolf clan, with whom Esther had an affair. Once Mikael learned of Esther's infidelity and realized that her lover's pack were the werewolves who killed Henrik, Mikael hunted down and killed Klaus and Y/N's father and his entire family, igniting a war. Between vampires and werewolves that still exists. Shortly after the Mikaelsons became vampires and learned of Klaus and Y/N werewolves' legacy, Esther was forced to curse Klaus and Y/N to make their werewolf natures lie dormant, so that they didn't bother yet. More to nature by possessing so much power. However, Klaus and Y/N felt betrayed by this punishment, and in retaliation, Klaus murdered his mother and framed Mikael for the act. Understood?" Peter asks and I nod.
"I'm more than sure it's her!" Derek exclaims.
"It has to be her, if you questioned her or just stopped...-Lydia says to be interrupted by Peter.
"It's her Doppelgänger..."
You got out of the tub while you were dripping to grab the towel and start drying off. Tomorrow would be your first day in high school, you had never attended one and according to Caroline and Stefan they are very good, also Rebekah go into one and she looks older than you. You wrapped the towel around your body and left the bathroom to go to your room. You dropped the towel while you felt the air all over your body, you took off your underwear from the wardrobe and then put on a loose shirt and some pajama shorts. You go down to the kitchen for some whiskey and you go back upstairs. You arranged your things for tomorrow and left them arranged so that you only had to go...
Chapter 4
After the eventful day yesterday, I could say that today was extremely boring. For some unknown reason, Stiles and Jackson had not shown up to school. But, after what happened I would have missed too, but I left my bike here and I needed to get it back. I wasn’t planning on staying longer than needed. Once the day was over and the clock hit three, I sped off to my house. I was still tired from yesterday and all I wanted to do was take a big long nap. My body felt heavy, and my head hurt like hell.
But once I got home, I knew that I wouldn't be sleeping like I wanted to.
"What are you doing here, Derek?" I asked as I took off my helmet.
"We need to talk."
"No, we don't. There's nothing to talk about."
"(Y/N), please. You have been avoiding me for almost two weeks now. I need to know why." He sounded desperate.
"And I want to know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop. Guess we won't be getting any answers today." I tried to walk to the door, but he grabbed my arm. "Let. Me. Go."
"Please, just talk to me. Give me a reason." His stare burned a hole in me. "Please."
"Seriously, Derek. Just leave me alone." He finally let me go, my arm feeling cold missing his touch.
"I won't stop until you talk to me and explain."
"Then get comfortable, sour wolf, you'll be waiting a long time." I entered the house and locked the door, finally letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
I changed into comfortable clothing and started cleaning the house. My parents would be here tomorrow, and I wanted to make sure the house was spotless. Truly, I just needed something to take my mind off Derek. Why did he make me feel this way? Yesterday the only thing I was wondering was why HE was there. And I didn't want to think that way. I didn't want to care about him. Not now, not ever.
After I finished cleaning, I found myself with nothing to do, so I ran upstairs and took a shower. I tried to take all the time in the world but there wasn't enough. I got out and went to bed thinking of the events of yesterday.
I was running through the forest and I felt someone chasing me. No matter how fast I ran, the creature ran faster. Before I knew it my body had collided with the floor and towering above me was the thing that had screeched last night. It looked lost, like it needed to find his purpose. His slit eyes stared down onto mine and his sharp teeth expelled a sort of saliva that trickled down to my face. His tail was moving up and down my legs teasing a cut. I wanted to move but I knew if I did it would try to kill me, so I stayed put. I closed my eyes and awaited what would happen but instead of death, a roar sounded. Startled, the creature screeched, and I screamed back.
I woke up screaming and sweating just 5 minutes before my alarm would make a sound. I got out of my bed and went to take a shower to relieve me from the dream I just had. It sounded just like the screech from two nights ago. My body felt cold, and I had goosebumps everywhere. To calm my nerves, I put the water in a hot temperature and let it ease my muscles and relax my body. I would have maybe called Isaac but, after knowing he's somewhat involved with whatever is going on and him being a douchebag the last few days, I didn't even bother looking up his contact. Maybe it was for the best. After the year ended I could cut ties without any remorse.
Once I was done with my shower I changed into comfortable clothes once again and ran down the stairs. For more than an hour I was enjoying a horror movie on TV when I heard the doorknob rattle.
"Mom! Dad!" I ran and jumped on both.
"Hey, munchkin." My dad ruffled my hair and hugged me.
"Hey, darling. How did your week go?" My mom asked. How could I explain to her something I didn't know?
"Pretty uneventful. Just hanging out around the house, organizing my room and stuff. But, enough about me. Come in, settle down, tell me about your week."
"Honey, why don't you go sit down, we need to talk about something." I looked at my mom weirdly and went to the kitchen to sit down.
"What's going on?" I looked at my parents who were fixing up dinner.
"Munchkin, you know how each year we have to move due to my business. Well, this year is gonna be different."
"We're not moving. Dad, you've said that before. How do I know you're not lying again?"
"We took this week kind of on a trial basis. You’re getting older and can handle bigger responsibilities like taking care of yourself and the house by yourself. So, it seems that we can be away for elongated periods of time and you’ll be just fine. And in any case, your uncle is here to take care of you."
"We will be living here in Beacon Hills and any business that needs to be taken care of we will just leave town for a few days. Are you okay with that?" My mother smiled.
"Okay?! I'm beyond okay!" I jumped up from the stool and hugged my parents. "This is the best news ever!"
"That's great, honey. Now go do something while I start dinner."
When my parents told me the news that we were staying the first person that came to mind was Derek.
I had been avoiding him for such a long time and he did deserve some answers and maybe I could get some from him about what was going on in this freak show of a town. I decided to text him and told him to meet me at his house in the woods. I awaited his answer and rode my bike down the now familiar trail. And just as he had said, there he was, waiting on the front steps of the house.
"Hey, Derek," I said softly. It was hard to swallow my pride after the way I had been acting.
"Hey, (Y/N). Are you finally ready to talk?" He said in a calm and soothing voice. Absolutely the opposite of what I was expecting. I nodded my head and sat down next to him. "So, why have you been avoiding me? Is it something I did?"
"No. I just had to."
"You had to?"
"Look, all my life I have had to pack everything up and leave behind a whole life. Every time the year ends, I need to forget about one life and start another. I have ignored so many people that have only been nice to me because I don't want to grow attached. Cause when I leave, I know I will never see them again and I'd rather be alone than have to pass through that heartache."
"So, once we started growing close you had to cut ties so you could forget about me." I nodded and he let out a sigh. "I get it. But you could've told me."
"Yeah? How? Hey, I'm gonna start to forget you now so I don't have to later. Wouldn't be too sensitive, would it?"
"No, but I would have understood." He looked at me. His eyes held kindness and understandings, things I didn’t deserve for my actions. "But why are you telling me now?"
"My parents told me that we're not leaving this time. We're here for good."
"So that means you'll stop ignoring me?"
"Yes." He smiled and gave me a hug. I hugged him back. "Now that I have given you answers, I need some in return."
"Like?"
"What the hell happened on Thursday?"
"Oh. That." He paused for a second and groaned, but I motioned him to answer me. "Of course. But what I tell you right now must stay between us, and you must give me your word that no one will know that I was the one who told you. Not Scott or Allison, not even your parents."
"Is it that important?"
"Absolutely. Look what's happening here, it's not normal nor human."
"What are you talking about, Derek?" I chuckled.
"Everything around you are not what it seems. There's just no easy way to say this."
"Derek, ballpark it."
"I'm a werewolf, an alpha. And so is Scott, Isaac, Erica, and Boyd, they're betas. Your family, including Allison, are hunters. They kill people like me and the others. That screech you heard yesterday, it came from a Kanima. A walking snake-like creature that kills people, murderers exactly, after paralyzing them with a type of venom it creates." He looked into my eyes trying to search for something. An answer, a sign, anything. It just wasn't there. "(Y/N), please. Say something."
I tried to speak up, but nothing came out. Maybe it was the shock, maybe I wasn't ready to hear this, maybe I didn't want to know that everyone around me was different. Out of this world, sort to speak.  Everything was changing and I couldn't do anything about it. I saw Stiles' jeep coming closer. Out of it came Scott, Allison, and, obviously, Stiles. I got up from the steps, ignoring their calls and Derek calling my name.
"Where are you going, (Y/N)?"
"Home." I turned on the motorcycle and tried to leave but I couldn't. I was frozen, listening to their conversation.
Derek's POV "What's happening?" Stiles asked.
"She's leaving, dimwit. Don't you have eyes?"
"Why would she leave like that?" Allison questioned and directed her sight to me. "What did you do?"
"Nothing. We were just talking."
"What exactly where you guys talking about?" Scott asked.
"Everything."
"As in." I stared at him and raised an eyebrow. "Oh, everything."
"Derek, why the hell would you do that?! It was not in your place to tell her about that."
"Oh, like you would have told her anything. Just like you're telling Lydia. She came to me for answers, and I gave them to her."
"That is none of your business."
"I was not going to continue to lie to her. You do whatever the hell you want but I couldn't go on like that."
"Honestly, Derek. What is your problem?! She's nothing to you so I don't understand why you had to bring her into this twisted world." Allison screamed.
"You know why she has to know. I accept that it's not my place, but I knew you wouldn't say anything and, also, I didn't bring her into this. Your bloodline did. Don't pin this on me." Allison starts fuming and closing the gap between us but stops dead in her tracks when she heard the same thing all of us heard. (Y/N) falling off her bike.
"(Y/N)!!" I ran towards her and picked her up.
"Don't touch her!" Allison screamed.
"You can't tell me what to do." I bumped our shoulders and headed towards the house. "But if you wanna help out you can follow me."
Fuming, Allison followed me into the living room with the trail of puppies on her back. She helped me gently lay down (Y/N) on the couch whilst Scott found some gauze and alcohol for a scratch on her face and hopefully what would wake her.
After cleaning the wound, I held a gauze dripping with alcohol under her nose, but nothing happened.
"This is what I wanted to avoid. She seems so strong, but she is so fragile too. I wanted her to find this all out through her parents. Not some stranger she just met." Allison spoke to Scott.
"I think you underestimate the strength she has. And trust me, I am no stranger to her." I spat at her. "At least I was the only one brave enough to give her the answers she was seeking."
"Derek, honestly I could give two shits about what you think right now. It's your fault she fainted. Again, you had no fucking right."
"Look, Allison, I get it. You don't want her in this world because she's better than you. I get it." I smirked at her and she lunged at me. Scott held her back but I wanted the reaction. I was completely fuming, (Y/N) deserved better than lies.
As she struggled, Stiles’s words brought us back from the fight.
"Guys, she's waking up."
I directed my gaze again to (Y/N) and noticed her eyes fluttering open. "See, she's fine."
"But she wasn't."
"Well, she is now." I gritted my teeth.
(Y/N)'s POV
"Um, guys, yeah. I'm still here stop talking about me as if I were gone."
"Are you okay? How are you feeling?" Allison asked as if I had hurt myself.
"I'm fine. My body is functioning normally, my legs are moving one after the other, my lips are opening and closing, and my tongue is moving, and my arms are flailing. I'm super."
"Take it easy, (Y/N). You just found out a lot of stuff." Scott said.
"Yeah, you two are werewolves." I pointed at him and at Derek, then at Allison. "And you, along with our family, a hunter." I looked at Stiles. "And you're human, like me."
"And?" Derek asked in a harsh tone as if trying to keep up the mean façade he had. It made me angry, but the worry was evident in his eyes.
"It's fine. It's weird but fine." This time I did get on my motorcycle and started it.
"Whoa, where do you think you're going?" Stiles tried to stop me midway.
"Um, as I said before, home."
"You can't drive in this state, especially in a motorcycle. You could crash!"
"Allison, I have never in my life of driving crashed a motorcycle whereas cars, enough to start a small dealership, and some of them weren't even mine. I think I'm good." As I tried to leave, once again I was stopped. This time by Derek.
"I'll take you home."
"Um, you've done enough. I'll take her home." Allison stepped in. They got in each other's faces and I had to step in between them.
"Mom, dad. Stop. I hate when you fight." I snorted. "Sorry, but I'll take myself home."
Before any of them could answer I got on my motorcycle and sped off the same way I came through. When I got home, I was out of breath and dizzy. Everything Derek had said kept replaying in my mind over and over, like an endless loop of unimaginable words that seemed to be part of a dream. The front door of my house seemed so far, and it felt like almost half an hour had passed until I got there. Everything passed by slowly and blurry.
My father called out to me and it felt like I answered but I had no idea what I said. Maybe something in the lines of I'm tired, I'm gonna go to bed. I ascended the stairs one step at a time until I reached the top. It felt like climbing the Great Wall of China, but finally, I made it to my bedroom. Once I entered, I got the scare of my life and everything went back to normal. Derek was in my room.
"What the hell are you doing here, Derek?!" I yelled in a soft whisper.
"I wanted to see if you were really okay. You didn't seem good when you left."
"I'm fine," I said in a cold voice and started looking for my pajamas. He wasn't believing me, and neither was I. "Seriously, Derek. I am."
"You don't seem or sound fine. I heard you when you got here, you were out of breath and you took your time to get up the stairs as if it was the biggest climb of your life." It was evident that he was worried about me but there was nothing to worry about. I may still be in a bit of shock. He just needed to chill. Deep down I knew how scared I was. The world had turned into different stop frames. I could see everything pass me by inch by inch. I had time for everything. I could easily have gone to the other side of the planet and back and not more than a minute could have passed.
I went to the bathroom and changed in hopes that he would leave, even though  I didn’t want him to. He didn't. He looked around my book collection which, I may add, is quite big. My father had some people make a built-in bookcase and desk. It was probably my favorite place in the whole house, the kitchen ended second. Derek had taken one of my favorite books in his hand.
"Pride and Prejudice? Hm, never would have pictured you to read this kind of book."
"There's many things you don't know about me, sour wolf."
"Seriously, you're gonna keep calling me that? Even after you know it's true."
"That makes it more fun." I smiled weakly. "So, werewolf, huh?" He nodded. "And my family is filled with hunters." He nodded again. "And they hunt you."
"(Y/N), if this is too much for you, we can leave you out of it."
"It doesn't matter if you leave me out of it, I'll still be involved. I just don't want anything to change."
"I know. Me either." He said looking down. I walked over to him and hugged him needing some type of warmth. His arms engulfed me, and I felt relieved, completely forgetting how mad I was at him for being a dick not a few hours ago.
"It's just for the first time in my life I thought I cloud have a normal life with my family and new friends. I hoped to settle in a normal town where it's so boring, but you fall in love with the people there and never want to leave. I guess I just wanted normal."
"And I just ruined that." He sighed, his chest rising and falling against my head. "I'm sorry."
"Don't blame yourself. My parents would have brought me into that world soon enough. I think that's why they've had me working out and training for no apparent reason. They were hoping I would join the family business."
"Would you?"
"Huh?" I looked up at him.
"If they asked you to become a hunter, would you?"
"If I hadn't met Isaac, or your pack, or Scott... or you, I probably would have. But I can't be a part of something that hunts innocent creatures just because they believe the whole species is bad." He nodded but stayed quiet.
I went over to my bed in hopes he would stay but he made his way to the window. I don't know what came over me, but I called out to him. "Don't go. Stay, please."
Without another word he turned off the lights and sat next on the chair that was in the corner next to my bed. Finally, I drifted off with the possibility of words flowing from his mouth.
Derek's POV
"I'll never leave you." I whispered to her as she closed her eyes and drifted into sleep. After some time, she started squirming and her heartbeat began to race. I sat next to her, and without waking up, she got closer and snuggled into my chest. I put an arm around her and heard her heartbeat slowly go back to normal.
At around midnight I heard voices arguing downstairs. I didn't mean to overhear but I couldn't help it.
"You went looking for her again, didn't you, Henry?"
"Of course, I did. I'll look for her until the day I die."
"You know you'll never find her. That was the point. You told her to hide, and she did. So much that not even you can find her. I guess she didn't love you enough." She sighed. "And even if you found her, your father would use all his power to kill her."
"At least I loved her more than I'll ever love you, and that's enough for me."
 After that, a long silence.
Then, a door slammed shut.
Moments after I heard footsteps coming up the stairs.I tried my best to move in case they decided to check in with her, but (Y/N)’s grip on me only tightened. I had no escape other than to brace myself for whatever could happen.
My heart started to race faster and faster as the steps became closer to the room.
Step.
Step.
Step.
Her mother was right outside her door, probably debating waking her daughter up to wish her a good night. My breath hitched in my throat when the door handle started to softly turn; the gears in my brain turning, looking for the quickest escape. The door handle had turned completely and I prepared myself to run. But, it was let go. The footsteps receded and ended in the room next to (Y/N)’s. Once I heard her settle in bed I finally relaxed. I curled (Y/N) onto me and wrapped her tight. Something in me just wanted to protect her and let her know she’s not alone. I hadn’t felt this way in a long time and for the first time I wanted to see where it could lead.
Chapter 123: The Second Sacrifice
What happened the night before, nobody knew—except for Jian Qianyuan and that unfortunate dead partner of hers.
Lin Qiushi remembered that yesterday, Jian Qianyuan had also been one of the people eschewing the unpleasant taste of lunch. But sat before the same nauseating and flavored dead-fish lunch today, her odd behavior gave Lin Qiushi an unfortunate supposition. Could Jian Qianyuan have been affected by that monster as well…
Jian Qianyuan didn't care at all what the others thought. Once she finished eating, she left the dining room with a satisfied pat of her slightly distended belly. On her way out she seemed to have noticed the shocked looks everyone was sending her, and answered with a cold smile.
"The taste is actually pretty good. If you like, you should all go give it a try," she mumbled to herself.
Nobody answered her, and she shrugged in disinterest before leaving.
Lin Qiushi watched her enter a room. And when the rooms changed, Jian Qianyuan disappeared before the crowd.
The locations of the rooms kept changing; every few minutes, a new room appeared in front of the deck.
Some were lucky—people found their stuff inside the rooms and brought them out. Others not so much, never managing to find their original rooms.
Lin Qiushi, on the other hand, made a new discovery. While they were perusing the hallways, they were fortunate enough to see once more that locked room they'd discovered the day before. Only, something had changed about it. The door to that room now stood wide open, and the chain that had locked it from the inside was scattered in broken pieces all over the ground. It seemed to have been violently broken off.
"I remember this room," Lin Qiushi said. "Room 201." He looked at the door plate, thinking of the room number they'd seen yesterday. "Is there anything inside it now?"
Ruan Nanzhu stood in the doorway staring into the dark interior.
"You don't hear anything inside?" he asked.
"No," Lin Qiushi shook his head after listening for a while. He was sure he could hear nothing moving about.
"Then that thing probably left." Ruan Nanzhu approached and took a step inside, casually turning on a kerosene lamp on the table beside him.
The dim light illuminated what wasn't a terribly large room, and they got a good look at what was inside.
The room was both normal and abnormal. Normal was its furnishings, which were identical to where Lin Qiushi's group slept. Abnormal was the additional things inside the room: a bunch of fish scales.
These scales were scattered throughout the entire room, filling the space with a disgusting fishy stench. Lin Qiushi also noticed that on the floors, there was a sort of liquid—like water, but a bit more viscous—smeared all over. It was discomforting to look at.
And on the walls and furniture all around them, there were marks made by sharp claws, telling them that this indeed was the room that once held that monster prisoner.
Lin Qiushi inspected these claw marks and found them extremely deep; if those claws could do this much to hardwood flooring, then it was easy to surmise that a fragile human body for them wouldn't stand a single blow.
Gu Longming was gagging out of disgust, but Ruan Nanzhu took a napkin from his shirt and collected a few of the scales.
Though at present, they didn't know what the fish scales were for, it was better to be prepared just in case.
Lin Qiushi searched the rest of the room for other clues. Quickly, he found a man's shoe in the corner. It made Lin Qiushi think of the man who'd been eaten yesterday. Did the monster drag its prey back to its room?
As Lin Qiushi was contemplating this, Gu Longming said: "Time's almost up." The moment they came in, he'd started counting down, and there were still around ten seconds before five minutes were up.
"Let's get out of here," Ruan Nanzhu said. "This place doesn't seem to be of any more use."
Lin Qiushi agreed.
Not long after the three left that room, its location changed into another room. Lin Qiushi's expression was a bit downcast.
Ruan Nanzhu asked what was on his mind.
Lin Qiushi: "I think things might be worse than we thought."
"What do you mean?" Gu Longming asked in doubt.
"Is the monster's position truly fixed?" Lin Qiushi asked. "Or can it move around?"
Before he'd seen that room, he thought the monster's position was fixed. But upon seeing that ruined chain, he'd formulated an unfortunate hypothesis: the monster could move, and it could move throughout the entire labyrinth. Though, like the humans, it could not find the exit, all the people lost in the maze were just like food to it.
"Your guess is likely correct." Ruan Nanzhu glanced at his watch. "There are still thirteen people. That's enough to feed him for ten days."
Gu Longming forced out a laugh: "You guys are joking, right?"
Ruan Nanzhu shrugged.
"Only if you like this sort of humor."
At dinner, Lin Qiushi had thought he'd be able to see that bug-covered NPC. But the NPC didn't show. It seemed he only appeared in the dining room at lunch, and had its role refreshed consistently…
Everybody except Jian Qianyuan still ate their dinners listlessly.
When Jian Qianyuan appeared in the dining hall once more, she continued scarfing down the fish placed before her. Her unrestrained way of eating left the crowd with even less of an appetite, and they all dispersed after swallowing down some noodles.
Lin Qiushi's group was the same. Only, before leaving, Lin Qiushi took a closer look at Jian Qianyuan, wanting to see if there were any changes on her body.
To his puzzlement, Jian Qianyuan was still currently a simple human. Beyond suddenly loving fish, there was nothing odd about her.
"I'm really scared to see her become one of those things tomorrow." Gu Longming's current feelings about Jian Qianyuan were complex; he and Lin Qiushi were thinking of the same thing.
Neither Lin Qiushi nor Ruan Nanzhu spoke.
That night, Lin Qiushi wasn't getting much sleep. His mind was filled with thoughts of Jian Qianyuan, the way she was changing, and connections between all the clues.
As for Ruan Nanzhu, he'd taken out the fish scales from his pocket, set them on the table, and was currently scrutinizing them closely.
It wasn't raining tonight, and a clean bright moon hung in the sky, casting a silver glow down onto the ship deck and ocean surface. The sea wind brought with it salt and heat through the window, and the beds beneath them were lightly swaying. Had they not been in a door, the atmosphere here actually seemed a tad like a leisurely vacation.
Lin Qiushi looked out to his side. The scenery outside the window changed every five minutes.
Sometimes he could see the deck, and sometimes the stern. Sometimes it was just a black wall. The two people lying behind him seemed to be asleep already, their breathing going even. But just before Lin Qiushi fell asleep as well, he heard a peculiar sound—something was moving across the floorboards. The thing was heavy, enough to press soft creaks from the wooden planks, and it didn't seem to be wearing shoes. Lin Qiushi could even hear the quiet stick of flesh to wood.
This sound was getting closer, finally coming to a stop near their window.
Lin Qiushi held his breath. Through half-closed eyes he saw a gigantic shadow blocking the light from his window. …And Lin Qiushi smelled a wave of familiar fish rot—he knew exactly what the thing standing backlit before him was.
That giant fish-headed monster they saw last night.
It stood right outside Lin Qiushi's window, its nose twitching like it was in search of a specific scent. Lin Qiushi held his breath and didn't dare move an inch.
By moonlight, Lin Qiushi saw that thing slowly place its hands on their window, and then begin to shake the frame with those web-linked fingers.
The window wasn't strong, crunching loudly with the push. Ruan Nanzhu and Gu Longming too woke instantly from their sleep, and the first thing they saw was the giant silhouette standing outside. They could also hear that low, animalistic roaring.
Lin Qiushi thought at first that Gu Longming, fresh from a dream, would scream at the sight of this, but instead he only shuddered before pressing his voice low: "Fuck me, am I having a nightmare right now? Why is this thing at our door—"
Ruan Nanzhu was also calm, pulling out a dinner knife from his pocket that he'd stolen from the dining room.
"Maybe it discovered how tasty we looked?" he said.
Gu Longming patted at his own face and said in a tone of disbelief: "…do I look tasty?"
Ruan Nanzhu looked at him with sympathy: "I guess some monsters like extreme flavors."
Meanwhile, Lin Qiushi thoroughly applauded the enormous nerves on these two people.
The monster broke a hole in the window with a single shove, all the glass on it shattering and raining onto the floor. Then it started trying to climb in. Upon discovering the window was too small, those lumpy white eyes gave a twist, gaze falling sideways onto the wooden door.
"Fuck," Gu Longming swore. "It's not really trying to get in, is it?!"
"Looks that way." Ruan Nanzhu frowned. "Is death random then? No…No way! There’s something we’ve missed!"
As they spoke, the fishman began slamming into the door, and the already-flimsy wood quickly began to topple under its barrage. Lin Qiushi could even hear the wood beginning to splinter.
"When it rushes in, I'll hold it back while you guys escape through the window." Ruan Nanzhu's voice rang clear and calm still. "Got it, Linlin?"
"No," Lin Qiushi said. "I'm not leaving you here alone. Do not make the same mistake."
He frowned, looking very unhappy.
Ruan Nanzhu fell silent, and then sighed like he was giving up something.
"Alright, as you wish."
He handed Lin Qiushi a dinner knife.
"I'm not leaving either," Gu Longming added beside them, jittery.
Though he looked exasperated, Ruan Nanzhu didn't try to talk them out of it. He looked at his watch and said, "thirty seconds. Just hold out for thirty seconds and keep it outside—"
Lin Qiushi and Gu Longming instantly understood—after thirty seconds, the rooms would change, and once the rooms changed they would be able to leave the room, losing the monster behind them.
But these thirty seconds weren't so easy to obtain, because the fishman had already used those sharp claws of his to tear away half of the planks on the door. It seemed moments away from squeezing that scale-covered body through the crack.
Gu Longming turned around and fetched a table to blockade the door with. Ruan Nanzhu dragged the bed over as well to add to the barricade.
Watching Ruan Nanzhu, however, suddenly reminded Lin Qiushi of something. He remembered that the first thing the fishman did when it got to their window was twitch its nose, sniffing—
"Give me the scales you collected today!" Lin Qiushi yelled.
"What?" Ruan Nanzhu startled.
"The scales that you found inside the monster's room—" Lin Qiushi began to repeat loudly once more.
But luckily, Ruan Nanzhu reacted swiftly. The moment he understood Lin Qiushi's meaning he pulled a small paper pouch from his pockets and tossed it outside through a break in the window.
The scales wrapped up in the paper pouch scattered all over the hallway outside. The fishman, once intent on breaking the door down, paused with it, before going over to where the pouch was and bending down as if to pick up the scales.
Seeing this, Lin Qiushi felt some tension release. But the very next moment, once it discovered that there were only scales in the paper, the fishman let out an infuriated roar. It turned around and lunged again for where they were.
All this moving around, however, was enough to last those long thirty seconds. The fishman lunged for them, and just before it would shatter the door, their room switched position, and the fishman disappeared from in front of them.
Lin Qiushi opened the broken door in a hurry and, after making sure the fishman wasn't outside, switched into another room with Ruan Nanzhu and Gu Longming.
His worry soon became reality, because about two minutes later, that fishman once again found their room. It completely obliterated the door before throwing itself inside.
At that moment, Lin Qiushi's group was hidden in a room not far from that one, watching everything go down from the window.
The endless sounds of destruction floated over. After it was sure that its prey had gotten away, the fishman left, heavily panting. It looked as if it had a new target though—that huge mouth of its was slightly open, revealing the sharp thin teeth all crammed inside and the saliva dripping out of a corner.
The three humans hiding in the room didn't dare to make a sound, not until the fishman had gone. Then, Gu Longming let out a long exhale of relief.
"Fuck me, it was following the smell of the fish?! I really thought we were dead there!"
None of them had thought that the fish would come into such effect here. Had Lin Qiushi not reacted so quickly, the three of them might have suffered a casualty among them.
Though the fishman was gone, Ruan Nanzhu's expression had not relaxed. His solemn eyes seemed to make Gu Longming uneasy, and Gu Longming asked, "what is it? Zhu Meng?"
"I think Jian Qianyuan is about to die," Ruan Nanzhu said.
Just as Gu Longming was about to ask why, he remembered the odd developments around Jian Qianyuan during the day. She seemed to have eaten a lot of fish, enough that when she left the dining room, they could all smell that hefty rotten scent on her. If even they could smell the scent, then undoubtedly that monster could easily sniff her out too.
Sure enough, not long after the fishman left, Lin Qiushi's sharp hearing caught a woman's scream. The scream sounded quite far from then, and Lin Qiushi could only vaguely hear it. As for Gu Longming and Ruan Nanzhu, they couldn't hear it at all.
The screaming continued, accompanied by sobbing and wailing, and in the end, it petered off, leaving only hair-raising bellows and sounds of chewing.
Those sounds came from the deck. Lin Qiushi didn't want to know at all what they would find up there the next day.
Of course it would be yet another scooped-clean body, with all its innards gone, leaving only an empty skeletal frame.
It seemed that Ruan Nanzhu could tell Lin Qiushi was having a hard time sleeping. He sat down at the side of Lin Qiushi's bed and lied down with Lin Qiushi, tucking his chin against the top of Lin Qiushi's head. He kissed the strands of hair gently.
The warmth of a body against his back gave Lin Qiushi's frozen voice box a little bit of comfort, but that terrifying sound still seemed to be echoing in between Lin Qiushi's ears. He felt like he could still hear Jian Qianyuan's wailing…
"She's dead," Lin Qiushi said.
"Mh," Ruan Nanzhu said. "Go to sleep. This is normal."
"Maybe I could've figured out a way to save her," Lin Qiushi sighed.
"But you had to save yourself first." Ruan Nanzhu's fingers traversed paths through Lin Qiushi's hair. "We're still short a long sword to kill it with."
In the myth, the weapon that Theseus used to kill the Minotaur was a long sword. But they hadn't seen any weapon on the ship  that could damage the fishman—dinner knives were surely a no-go.
"We found the string," Lin Qiushi said, "and we also found the aperitif." When Jian Qianyuan died, he understood what aperitif actually meant.
Ruan Nanzhu kissed the tip of Lin Qiushi's ear.
"Sleep already. We'll talk about it tomorrow."
Lin Qiushi made a noise of agreement and closed his eyes.
He tried, but he didn't actually manage to sleep so well, only waited blearily until morning.
The weather wasn't good today. That thick cloud layer once again enveloped the entire sky, dim enough to scare people with.
Lin Qiushi got up early and went out onto the deck with Ruan Nanzhu and Gu Longming. None of them were surprised by the additional corpse there. Though its face was no longer discernible, the clothes told them that it was indeed Jian Qianyuan.
Her stomach had been torn open, and all the fish she'd eaten the day before was nowhere to be seen. Also gone were all her innards.
Shen Juexin, who'd already been seasick, vomited once more. Vomiting with him were a few of the weaker girls with a lower threshold of tolerance.
Lin Qiushi also spotted the girl who'd given him a heads up the other day, Xiao Mo. The erratic vibe of a newcomer had faded for her, and her expression was a lot number now, like she was already able to accept the horrifying scene before her.
Two days had passed. Jian Qianyuan was the second sacrifice to be eaten.
The group quickly took care of Jian Qianyuan's body, if "taking care" meant tossing it into the ocean and watching the fish take apart what was left of her.
"I saw that monster yesterday too." The number of people who'd seen the monster had increased, and someone was tremulously describing what happened the night before. "It passed by my door and walked to Jian Qianyuan's room. It split the door open and dragged Jian Qianyuan out…"
"It was too scary," that person said. "I couldn't help her. I'm no match for that monster."
Nobody could defeat a two-meter-tall monster. If they had some firearms, maybe they'd be able to put up a fight, but under these circumstances with only dinner knives at their disposal, nobody wanted to put their lives on the line.
Lin Qiushi was a bit tired. He found a place to sit down in the dining room and pushed the peas in his plate around.
The NPC who gave them food had also appeared, and he looked exactly the same as he did the first day Lin Qiushi saw him. Even his expression was unchanged.
Lin Qiushi and Ruan Nanzhu exchanged a look. Then Ruan Nanzhu got up first, walking toward that NPC.
"Hello sir," Ruan Nanzhu greeted him.
The NPC didn't speak, just stared coldly at Ruan Nanzhu. It was like he was a robot, and what to do when greeted by someone wasn't programmed into his system at all.
"Hello sir," Ruan Nanzhu said to him a second time.
The man still didn't respond.
With a tilt of his head, Ruan Nanzhu pushed the plate of food in front of them right to the ground. The fish inside the plates scattered all over, breaking into pieces.
"What are you doing?" the man finally spoke, sounding quite unhappy.
"I just wanted to ask," Ruan Nanzhu said, "when you're making the food, do you always bring so many insects along with you?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
A casual swipe got Ruan Nanzhu one of the human-faced insects buzzing in circles around the man.
"You don't?"
Seeing this, the man set down the ladle for food preparation in his hand and made to leave. But Ruan Nanzhu caught him by a shoulder.
"And where are you going?"
The man began to shake violently.
Watching from afar, Lin Qiushi first thought the man was afraid of maybe angry, but very quickly he discovered that it was neither—the man was melting.
His body was rapidly shrinking, turning from head to toe into a mass of black. This lump dispersed in the dining room with a buzz—it was a hoard of flying insects.
Everybody in the dining room was stunned by this scene, before smacking at them like crazy.
But the insects came and went quickly, disappearing from the dining room just like that. And the NPC who had been right in front of them was now only a set of empty clothing.
"Motherfucker." Gu Longming hadn't seen this coming at all, and said blankly: "This brother was a mosquito demon?"
Lin Qiushi: "…" He didn't know what to say either.
Ruan Nanzhu scratched his head and peeked at Lin Qiushi. "Does this mean there's nobody to feed us fish from now on?"
Lin Qiushi: "…seems that way."
Ruan Nanzhu lifted his palms with an innocent expression. Everybody else in the dining room however—their expressions grew complicated. Who knew what came to mind.
Ruan Nanzhu: "That's a bit of a shame, isn't it."
The group: "…" Not a shame at all, thank you.
Jealous
Tumblr media
Hello everyone, I am back yet again with another Charlie fic! I really enjoyed writing this one, it was a lot of fun! Also it’s long about 3,000+ words, I read over it and edited it as much as I could, so I really hope I caught all the mistakes! As usual I am happy to take requests, especially because I am starting to run low on ideas! Anyways, hope you enjoy! xoxo
Warnings: None really, there is a little make out sesh but it’s not long!
_________________________________________
        Season 2 came before you knew it, even though it felt like the renewal of Julie and The Phantoms took forever. But the minute it got renewed to now felt like a whirlwind of activities that happened before you could even take a breath in.
Now it’s two months into filming and this is the first time you’ve been able to visit your boyfriend Charlie since the start of it. You had to finish your semester of school before you could come visit him, knowing that you’d never get any schoolwork done if you came to visit during the semester.
It was a long two months and you truly could not be happier to be sitting smushed between Charlie and Owen in the car heading to set at 6 am. Any other time you would have dreaded being up so early but it didn’t seem so bad with your boyfriend’s hand resting on your thigh and the bickering of the two boys.
“You guys have been up for maybe an hour and you seriously haven’t stopped to take a breath from whatever you guys are arguing about this time.” You laugh, while pointing it out, because seriously it started the minute they woke up this morning and hasn’t stopped.
“Y/N, I feel like you’ve forgotten the dynamic that goes on between these two and their early mornings. We have sleep beauty number 1 and 2 here!” Jeremy laughs from the front seat.
You know he’s right; these two boys bicker non-stop anyways but especially on early mornings since they both love their sleep.
“Thanks for coming to set today baby, I know you got in yesterday but I don’t think I would have been able to get much done today knowing you’re sitting at the apartment waiting for me.” Charlie whispers into your ear sending chills down your spine and butterflies to erupt in your stomach at his early morning voice.
“Of course, you know I wouldn’t miss it for a thing besides I miss the rest of the cast! I’m excited to see them!”
A smile takes its place on Charlie’s face and he leaves a small kiss on your neck before turning back to look at his phone.
You originally met Charlie on the set of Julie and the Phantoms season 1. You never wanted to be on the big screen or some big actor but the industry always intrigued you so you signed up with a local company to be an extra for sets. It let you travel, see the business, and put money in your pocket when you weren’t doing school.
You were an extra for the crowd scenes, so basically any time the band played you were there watching. One day before they started filming, you were watching Dirty Candy perform and without thinking you started doing the choreography with them. You had been a dancer for about 12 years but a bad knee injury took you out of the game. Your love for dance never stopped though so you really enjoyed watching them perform.
I guess the girls had noticed you doing the choreography so they approached you asking if you were a new dancer on set. Embarrassed that they caught you dancing, you let them know you weren’t, you just watched them so many times you had memorized it by accident.
The girls were really nice and you quickly took a liking to Savannah and Tori, they would ask you to hang out while they practiced because you could pick out little details to fix or make better. From there it turned into a beautiful friendship, they started inviting you to hang out off set and to all the hang outs with the rest of the cast. Then before you knew it, you were a part of the group and always attached to their sides.
When you first met Charlie, of course he got your attention, his cute smile and energy would grab anyone’s. You never really thought much of it after though, but you always did notice that he would always look at you and for a little extra longer, he paid a little more attention to you when everyone was talking as well as you, and he always seemed to smile just a little bigger when he’d pull you into a hug to say hello.
Then one day he asked you out, just like that. Savannah and Tori mentioned that they thought he was going too but you didn’t think he would. Nothing ever really happened between you two, it was just a friendship where you flirted sometimes, but like you said before you noticed those small things but didn’t think much of it.
Of course you said yes though, he looked so nervous and cute that you felt yourself fall almost immediately after that. Which pretty much happened, after your first date  there was another and then another, and then you guys were in a relationship and pretty much inseparable.
A tug to your hand pulls you out of your thoughts, you guys had arrived on set and Charlie was tugging you out of the car. Sometimes the boy forgets his own strength and he has you tripping out of the car. He laughs and stabilizes you by grabbing onto your hips. He looks down at you, placing a sweet kiss to your lips that was quickly interrupted.
“Is that Y/N  we see?” You hear Tori squeal followed by a “Yes that sure is.” from Savannah. Then they’re both next to you pulling you apart from Charlie and engulfing you in a group hug between the two girls.
It does feel good to be back with them, they quickly became two of your closest friends during your time as an extra on the show and you never lost touch with them either.
“Charlie, they need you in costume quick, they want to start as soon as they can to-Y/N!!” You hear your name yelled and arms wrap around your waist.
You turn to see the one and only Madison Reyes, you’re quick to wrap your arms around her as well. You loved the girl and she felt like a younger sister to you, she always came to you to talk and tell you secrets. You had really missed her even though she did facetime you about once a day.
“Mads it’s good to see you, I’ve missed you girly!”
“I’ve missed you too ya know, those facetime calls just don’t always cut it.” She laughs. “Anyways they do need us, they want to start filming as fast as they can today.” She says turning to Charlie and letting you go.
“Well you wouldn’t mind if we stole your girlfriend then would you Charlie since you’re busy?” Tori asks. “Besides you had her all yesterday, it’s our turn now.” You laugh at the girl’s words and turn to your boyfriend.
“I guess it’s alright, I’ll see you on set then? You said you’d watch our performance today.” Charlie says while pulling you in for one last hug before you depart.
“Of course, you know I wouldn’t miss that!” He places a kiss on your lips before he leaves with Madi and you with the girls. Who are both staring at you almost two excitedly.
“You two scare me sometimes, so much energy so early in the morning.” All of you laughing at your words. You follow them to the area where they will be filming but they have chairs and breakfast set up as well. You’re sitting with the girls, just drinking some coffee for the time being.
“So how has it been Y/N, does it feel good to be back around this craziness?” Savannah asks you.
“It’s been good, as far as life goes not much has changed since we all last talked! I finished the semester strong and only have two semesters left which is a relief. I hope when I’m done that means I will get to be around more and to travel with Charlie. And of course if feels good to be back! I’ve missed it and everyone really. I was bummed not to be able to re-sign to do extra work but I had to focus on school.” You tell the girls.
“Oh of course, we get that. Everyone here just misses you so much especially Charlie! As much as I am glad, you’re here so we can see you, I may be more glad because now we don’t have to hear him complain about how much he misses you.” You laugh at Tori’s words. The girls decided to actually send you quotes of the day that Charlie said about how much he missed you, that boy was quite dramatic but the quotes did end up being the highlight of your day more often than not.
You’re engulfed in conversation with the girls and don’t even realize the time flying by. They talk about the new season how it’s going, the new dances that they’re doing, your relationship and any other topic you could really think of.
A flash of orange catches your attention, you know that orange beanie like that back of your hand and you’re glad to see that it’s making its appearance in season 2. You follow the hat as it’s weaving through people and see it stop in front of the cameras.
Charlie’s eyes catching yours, he gives you his dazzling smile and wave in your direction before Kenny pulls his attention back to him but not before Kenny throws a wave in your direction as well.
“Well we got to go, we’re all in this scene but we’ll see you after!” Savannah says pulling you into a hug, Tori quickly following her movements.
Now you’re left alone, to watch the scene unfold in front of you. It really is so much fun to watch them all interact with each other on and off the screen. It’s such a wonderful dynamic they all have going on.
This scene is some scene at school, where Dirty Candy confronts Julie. Julie has the boys behind her giving her comebacks to all the jabs thrown her way from Carrie. It’s actually a funny scene watching the boys yell the things at Julie.
Take one, take two, take three, take four, and then a large grumble erupts from your stomach pulling your thoughts away from the scene before you.
You look down at your watch to check the time, it has been about two hours and you’ve been so distracted by everything that you forgot to eat. The moment of realization makes your hunger grow about ten times more. You quickly make your way over to the food table.
There’s donuts, brownies, cookies, some croissants, an assortment of chips, and some breakfast sandwiches. Honestly it all looked so good, and your stomach was telling you to get a bit of everything. The donuts and croissants calling your name the most, and maybe one chocolate chip cookie as well. You’re finishing up putting together your plate and grabbing a water when a voice startles you.
“I’ve never seen you before, are you new here?” You turn to see a boy, probably about your age, dressed in the schools letterman jacket.
“Oh no, not really.” You say with a smile, turning back to grab your water and food, to walk back to where you were sitting.
“Oh really? I guess I’ve missed you around here then, what’s your name?” He asks, following your lead and sitting in the chair across from you. Guess this conversation isn’t over, you think.
“Ya, I’m actually just visiting. I was an extra for the first season. It’s Y/N.” You say hoping that was the end, but nope.
“Oh cool, I’m Josh.” He says leaning in, reaching out his hand for a handshake while scooting closer to you. Almost too close and beginning to ask more questions.
Little did you know, that someone’s eyes were on you watching the whole situation. The longer Charlie watched the more he could feel the pit in his stomach growing. He didn’t like how close that guy was sitting next to you or the way every time you said something he would just lean that much closer.
The look in that guys eyes could have made Charlie stop in the middle of the scene and yell something, but he’s too professional for that. But that look, he knows what that looks means, that guy liked you and he didn’t understand why you weren’t stopping the conversation. The pit in his stomach now a giant hole and his ears and face on fire from anger or is it jealousy he thought.
“And cut. That’s the last take for this one, great job guys!” He hears Kenny yell and before anyone could talk to him, he’s got his eyes locked on you and walking straight towards you.
A pair of arms wrapped around your shoulder and a kiss to your neck scares you, pulling you out of the conversation that never felt like it was gonna end. You can see Josh’s eyes widen at the action that just unfolded in front of him and before he could say anything you hear Charlie pipe up from behind you.
“Hi baby, who’s this?” You can hear him ask in a tone you never heard before; he sounds upset?
“Oh um this is Josh; he was just telling me about the role he’s playing this season.”
Charlie reached his hand out to shake Josh’s hand.
“Well it’s nice to meet you Josh, it’s weird that I’ve never seen you before. I appreciate you keeping my girlfriend company while I was just a little busy.” You can practically hear the jealousy coming from his voice and you don’t miss how Charlie emphases the world girlfriend.
Josh visibly gets uncomfortable by his words.
“Oh ya man, sure. Sorry, she didn’t mention she was here for her boyfriend, just said she was visiting.” He says giving an excuse to why he’s so close to one of the stars of the show girlfriend.
“Oh she didn’t, interesting...” Charlie says trailing off and giving you a look you don’t think you’d ever want to see again.
“As much as I would have loved to bring up the fact, I had a boyfriend there wasn’t much of a moment for me to mention it between Josh’s story telling.” You say getting upset at Josh and Charlie’s actions. Sass and frustration evident in your voice.
You can see Josh’s cheeks get slightly red. Charlie is quick to grab your hand and start to pull you away with a quick,
“Well nice to meet you bud. We’ve got to be going now.” He says while still pulling you away.
The minute you’re out of sight and hidden behind a wall Charlie has you pinned against the wall and his lips on yours.
He doesn’t even give you a chance to catch up before he has his tongue swiping your bottom lip to get in. He’s quick to bite down on your bottom lip, a moan escaping you.
Your hands entangle in his hair pulling him closer, his hands gripping your hips pulling you up to have your legs wrap around his waist. Charlie moves his hands down to cup your butt giving it a slap as he starts to attack your neck with his lips.
You can’t help but lean your neck to the side giving your boy all the access he wants, basking in the feeling of his lips on your skin.
You’re pulled out of your little world when you hear voices and they sound like they’re getting closer.
“Char...Charlie, stop, someone... there is someone coming.” You struggle to get out as he keeps kissing your neck, you place your hands on his chest to give him a little push away. You’re able to get him to detach himself from your neck and place you back on your feet.
Two people walk past you guys giving you small awkward smiles, definitely knowing what was happening due how close you guys were standing, the mess that Charlie’s hair now is, and what you can only imagine is two pairs of swollen lips.
When they leave, he’s quick to attach his lips back to yours. But you place your hands on his chest pushing you away a little bit, even though it took everything in you to do so because man is that boys mouth magic.
“Baby, what’s going on? As much as I know you and your love for what’s happening, it’s never this public.” You ask, slightly concerned at your boyfriends behavior.
He shakes his head a little and moves his hand to rub the back of his neck, a pink tint appearing on his cheeks.
“I just, I don’t know thought it’d be fun.” He says not making eye contact.
“Oh that’s some BS Gillespie, what’s up?” You knew your boyfriend too well and that was a cop out answer.
“I just, I didn’t like how that guy was looking at you, or sitting so close to you and then he brought up how you didn’t say you were here for me and I just I don’t know...” He trails off still looking away sheepishly.
A small smile does form on your face as his words, you’ve never seen Charlie get jealous and truthfully it was a little cute.
“Oh so someone was jealous?” You ask with a little laugh.
“What me? Jealous? No, never!” Again, he’s trying to brush it off; but with the lift of your eyebrows he knows you’re not buying it.
“Fine, I was jealous okay? I know it’s bad to be jealous but whatever...”
“Actually, I think it’s pretty cute.” You say with a little laugh, grabbing onto his arm to pull him closer to you.
“Really?” He asks with his signature smirk and that tone of cockiness he just always seems to sport just a little. He now has his arms wrapped around your waist pulling you just that much closer, if it’s even possible.
You give him a nod and lead his lips back down to yours to interlock them again. This time he pulls away but leaves his forehead leaning on yours.
“I love having you here, even if it means you get hit on by gross extras.” You laugh at his words and the fact that his insult is what a twelve-year-old would come up with.
“I love being here, you know that. I really did miss you.”
“I missed you too sweet stuff, just don’t forget you’re here to see your very handsome boyfriend.” You both laugh together at his words.
“How could I ever forget? Plus it seems like if he thinks so he gets a little jealous and I don’t mind the outcome of it.”
“Oh shut up, you’re my girlfriend just gotta make sure everyone knows.” You roll your eyes at his words and he leans down again to place another kiss on your lips.
“Yep, your girlfriend and don’t you forget it.”
You both laugh again as you pull him in for another kiss. Your boyfriend may be a little crazy but you wouldn’t change it for the world because nothing feels better than being able to be back in his arms and laughing in between sweet kisses.
