Misogynoir Did Tory Lanez’ Dirty Work During His Trial

Tory Lanez’s trial following the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion uncovered the rampant misogynoir in the hip-hop community.

On Friday, December 23, Tory Lanez was found guilty on all three charges, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm, possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm, and negligent discharge of a firearm, following his 2020 shooting Megan Thee Stallion. The rap artist, legal Megan Pete, first declared Lanez as her shooter on Instagram live during the summer of 2020. She testified during the trial, saying Lanez fired a gun at her feet while shouting “dance b-tch” after a party in California.

The shooting incident created a massive conversation, but more specifically, pointed out the misogynoir that runs deeply in hip-hop and its online communities. Misogynoir is misogyny aimed toward Black women, so race and gender both play a part.

During Pete’s testimony, she revealed the damage the incident had done to her mentally and emotionally. “I wish he would have just shot and killed me [rather than] have to go through this torture,” she told the jury. The digital harassment that Megan endured came from various sources, including fellow rappers making fun of the traumatic incident and hip-hop blogs and commentators spreading false information about the situation and the trial.

“It feels like every man that’s in a position of power in the music industry, even people who are not even rappers, they never cared about what my side of the story was. They immediately took the side of this man and have been giving me hell for the last going on three years,” Megan testified.

During the trial, rap artists such as Joe Budden and 50 Cent (who have been accused of domestic abuse and charged with domestic violence, respectively) shared their thoughts on Pete. This fueled countless comments from outsiders who gave their opinions on the shooting. Since 2020, countless memes, conspiracy theories and hateful commentary about Megan became common on social media, proving why less Black women decide not to come forward about abuse than their white counterparts. The gaslighting and hate that follows their openness becomes too much to bear.

For Gabby Bulgarelli, senior producer on NPR’s podcast “Louder Than a Riot,” reporting on the trial and seeing the immense amount of false information showed that the hip-hop community does not value Black women.

“The [m]isinformation that has been reverberating around the internet during this trial is really dangerous because a lot of it is steeped in misogynoir, Bulgarelli told GU. “We have repeatedly seen unreliable sources push narratives aimed at delegitimizing the victimhood of the Black women in this trial [Megan and Kelsey] and reinforcing the power and protection of the Black man who is now the convicted aggressor [Tory]. These narratives have consistently — and could continue to — lead to violence and harm against Black women most notably the rampant cyberbullying both women faced.”

Tigidankay “TK” Saccoh uses her platform to combat the misogynoir of the trial as much as she can through her Instagram account Darkest Hue. “It was important for me to debunk the claims going around during this trial because there are so many blogs doing the exact opposite,” Saccoh said. “There were so many blogs vilifying Megan for her sex life and portraying her as a liar and a bad person.”

Some of these blogs and commentators shared false information without fact-checking, which led to thousands of people sharing the posts. Platforms such as RaphouseTV, No Jumper and Say Cheese has had to clarify their tweets due to them being factually incorrect.

Even now that the jury reached a verdict for the Tory Lanez trial, Say Cheese!, a YouTube account with a hefty following across the video platform, Twitter and Instagram, has shared a petition created by Tory Lanez’s supporters. Lanez’s fans are looking to appeal the ruling and the petition has received over 40,000 signatures.

“Under the comments, supporters of the petition are misgendering Megan Thee Stallion, accusing her of lying, and calling her misogynistic slurs,” Saccoh says. “A blog like Say Cheese would never share a petition supporting a cop who shot a Black man. These blogs enthusiastically wield misogynoir to pander to their pro-Black man, but anti-Black woman audience members.”

Kat Tenbarge, a tech and culture reporter at NBC News, found through her coverage of the trial that the desire for virality online has grown to a dangerous place. Spreading misinformation is viewed as just one way to grow acclaim.

“We’re seeing more and more misinformation play into the public understanding of legal cases, especially ones that involve celebrities,” Tenbarge told GU. “Social media is partially to blame, because blogs will adhere to popular opinions regardless of fact in order to go viral and make money. They are essentially incentivized to spread misinformation to succeed on these platforms. This puts the onus on the people being defamed or being hurt to take action because social media platforms don’t take responsibility for misinformation spread by users.”

Tory Lanez’ trial amplified the necessity of Black women having allies when they are vocal about violence. The trial also made it obvious why women are fearful of speaking about their experiences, as an army of misogynorists waits to tear them down. Now that the trial has reached a verdict, it’s time for more accountability and advocacy for Black women. Our lives are at stake.

GU Jams: Ar’mon Warren Is Preparing for Bigger and Better In 2023

The R&B singer credits real-life experiences to motivation in music.

For Ar’mon Warren, music fell into his lap way before YouTube. He began singing at three years old and playing the piano and drums with his little brother Trey. Church laid the foundation for his passion for the technical side of music, like the importance of tone and the difference between sopranos, altos and tenors.

In his hometown of Detroit, Michigan, he reflected on the limited opportunities for music and decided to take matters into his own hands. Back then, iPhones were expensive and out of reach, so Warren and his brother used to record and post content from a Samsung Galaxy until they finally convinced their mother to purchase an iPhone so they could post their content on Vine (yes, Vine).

Being in his teens, Warren had no clue that singing on the internet would catapult him into a long career and presence in the public eye where he could do what he truly loves: music. But his story does not end there. The 25-year-old has been in the YouTube game for about 10 years, becoming a veteran, and his new chapter has begun.

He also became a father to his daughter Legacy, preparing him to fully branch out as an independent artist. “We’re doing our solo thing right now,” Warren told GU. “Different moments in our [lives] led us to write songs that we feel are personal.”

Through those personal experiences, the genre that keeps him motivated to tell his story is R&B. Now, of course, there is a meaningful conversation surrounding the topic of the state of the genre. Still, Warren is definitely on the side of knowing it’s not dead, but it keeps him inspired.

“If you understand music, you could never get bored with R&B,” he said. “I love the production, how singers can put backgrounds [and] the way it’s melodic.”

He’s always open to everlasting learning, which encouraged him to make as much music as possible, leading him to score his first Billboard hit No. 11 for digital sales for his song “Hol’ It Down,” featuring his muse Reginae Carter.

While Warren was in the studio creating music, his producer Dwayne “D2” Washington, knew he found the right song for him. “He called me and was like, ‘Yo, I think I got it, I think I got the one,” he said. At that moment, he realized that was the type of hands-on collaboration that kept him inspired and encouraged when creating new music.

Warren knew he wanted the song to start with Carter expressing her wants and needs within a relationship, “I need you to reciprocate the energy that I’m going to reciprocate, because if you don’t, then I’m gonna be mad all the time, ‘cause I’mma be like ‘dang I wanna do this for him,’” she said in the song.

That intro leads to the rest of the song’s flow, sharing his perspective of how he will hold down his relationship. He reflected on how in the past, he was not inspired to get into the studio before. Still, once he started dating Carter, she brought that spark back into what he loved about making music: real-life experiences.

“She allowed me to be an artist,” Warren told GU. “She doesn’t push me to be anything but myself.”

Through his musical journey, he’s been able to find confidence in the work he puts into every melody and hook that prepped him for the music industry. “I feel like God put me through a developmental stage to where I know that I can’t just drop a song and think [that’s it],” he said.

Warren realizes now that it takes more, and with the work, a proper roll-out, and his fans’ massive support, anything is possible. “I challenged myself to be a better father, person and artist,” he said. Now he’s ready to be bigger and better.

What’s your fannish ID? @missmoochy on tumblr and MissMoochy on A03! Mooch is the name of a monkey beanie baby my sister owns, so I thought it would be a cute username!

What types of fanworks do you create? I write fics! I’d like to one day try my hand at fanart, but writing is my passion! I write primarily shippy stuff, but I also enjoy genfic. All ratings! These days, I tend to write MattFoggy, Spideypool and Gen. I try to do a lot of fandom challenges, bingos and stuff. They’re a great way to inspire you and help you step out of your comfort zone.

What are your favourite types of fanworks, when you're not creating? I will happily spend hours reading the amazing fanfictions that people create. I try to review at least 90% of the fics I read, I strongly believe in showing your love to creators. I enjoy looking at fanart on Tumblr too. I think that Tumblr Likes and reblogs are important, but not enough people leave actual comments on people’s fanarts. I always try to leave a nice comment to brighten their day. A comment or review can make a creator very happy and encourage them to keep producing work. I also like looking at gifs, fandom memes, and listening to Spotify fandom playlists.

What do you like in particular about this fandom? This fandom is so great! Everybody seems really positive and friendly (and talented). People here have given me invaluable advice on how to write the characters and have given me info about the canon. I’m firmly entrenched in the mattfoggy part of the Daredevil fandom, it feels like Matt’s got me in a headlock and I can’t escape!

Do you like participating in fan events? Always! I don’t use Tumblr much except for browsing, but it’s a great way to discover fandom events. I’m writing fics for three bingos this year, and I’m taking part in FebuWhump. I did my first DD Exchange recently, it was so exciting and it was great seeing all the fanwork that came out of it. I’m very active on Discord, I’m in the Team Red, Mattfoggy and Spideypool discord groups, constantly chattering about Marvel.

What about your creating process? I just open up a Word doc and start typing! I never really know what’s going to happen or what direction the fic is going to take. It’s more fun for me to do it that way. I try to upload quickly because I think hesitation can lead you to become too scared to upload your fic. I like listening to music while I write, it helps keep my brain chugging away. Sometimes, I’ll have a specific artist I listen to, to unlock a particular character. I listen to The Feeling when I’m writing Netflixverse!Foggy, and Dean Martin when I’m writing Murderdock (Earth-65!Matt). I also use the Sprint function on Discord, it’s a timer that gives you a set time to write and calculates your word count afterwards. It has changed my attitude on writing, I can’t recommend it enough.

Do you interact a lot with other fans? I do! I’m always on discord, and making new friends who like the same fandoms as me. I always try to reply to comments on my fics and that lead to me becoming good friends with one of my reviewers, which was nice. Sadly, a lot of the big writers for MattFoggy have migrated to other fandoms, but I still review their fics because it’s fantastic work that they’ve made and they deserve my thanks. I’d love to collaborate with somebody in the future to write a fic, it sounds like a cool thing to do.

Is there any particular piece you'd like to showcase for this post? Yeah, why not? I wrote a mattfoggy Hanahaki Disease fic called A Flower Cannot Blossom Without Sunshine, And Man Cannot Live Without Love. Hanahaki Disease is a multi-fandom trope where a character who is suffering from unrequited love develops an illness where flowers grow in their chest. It sounds weird, but it can actually be really bittersweet and heart-breaking. I noticed nobody had written a Hanahaki fic starring Matt and Foggy, so I wrote one! Do you have other fandoms you'd like to talk about? Spideypool! Spider-Man and Deadpool teamed up in a hilarious set of comics and it sprouted up a fandom for people who love Deadpool and Spider-Man. I write spideypool fics, both shippy and gen, and am on a very active Spideypool discord server called Isn’t It Bromantic. It has, last time I checked, 600+ members, so if you’re looking for a new active fandom to get into, you’ll love Spideypool.

Is there anything else you want to tell us about yourself? I once read a post on Tumblr that said ‘anything worth doing is worth doing poorly’ and it really resonated with me. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t put effort into things, but it means that you don’t need to strive for perfection. What you do is good enough. Everybody has days when they look at their own fanfiction or fanart or other fanworks that they’ve made, and they doubt their ability. But don’t deprive people of your creations! Just because your work isn’t perfect, that doesn’t mean it should stay hidden. People will love your work and you’ll be surprised at how great it feels to show off your creations!

Not So Berry Challenge Candie Edition: Lemon Play 6 (Part 2)

Hearts for Art. That's what the exhibition is called. Lemon's mother started a campaign for it years ago, and now every year, the museum displays local artists in celebration of creative expression. Their work is really good. It speaks in ways that words would probably have trouble interpreting.

Kind of like her. Inexpressible. If she had a piece of art that reflected her in colors and lines, that's what it would be called. Or maybe it would just be called, “Excuse my silence, my tongue is dysfunctional.” Less pretentious, but way more honest.

Finding her alone at the exhibition, Aara comes over to say hey. She examines the art in front of her and says, no offense, but this is kind of a bore. When Lemon doesn't respond (partially because she's trying to figure out what she likes about the art without sounding like a complete idiot who has no idea what she's actually talking about) Aara says, you're not really a talker are you?

Lemon fidgets a little and says, not really.

Aara looks around at the guests filling the museum lobby and says, I'm guessing you're not really a crowd person either. I spotted a skating rink nearby. Me and Otto were thinking about heading over. Want to join us?

Otto?

Huh...The last time Lemon's seen Otto was when they were little kids. He looks a lot different now. She wonders what Kelly's been up to.

She's never skated before, but it sounds like fun. And a lot less stressful than strangers potentially approaching her to tell her how great her mom is. And she is great. She'd just much rather read it in a comment. At least she'd have more time to come up with a response where silence is a lot less awkward.

It turns out...she was wrong. Skating is maybe equally as stressful. Especially when you're trying not to fall on your butt in front of your new classmates and become an instant meme.

It's relaxing to know that Otto and Aara aren't pro's either. It takes the pressure off not having to pretend to know exactly what she's doing. Otto even coaches her along, reminding her to take it slow. He says he doesn't want the president of the nation to lock them up for endangering her only child.

Lemon says, she's doing science experiments with teenagers. Her life is always in danger.

Otto laughs and says, Little Lemon coming with the facts. What other observations have she been accumulating in that overpowered mind of hers?

Lemon just smiles and shakes her head. Overpowered? She doesn't know about that? Overheated? Definitely.

After a bunch of laps and a couple of hilarious, but harmless falls, the skate trio return to the party to grab something to eat. And in Otto's case, finish his homework. He asks if they got through the math. He wants to check and make sure his answers are right. He's not trying to get called up to the board only to get embarrassed by the teacher. Lemon lets him look over her work and, sure enough, their answers match. Otto suggests they start a study group, but is quickly shut down by Aara who cuts in with a different subject. Israel's party.

She turns to Lemon and says, have you made up your mind? Are you going?

Lemon says she really hasn't thought much about it since that morning. Anti-crowds usually also means anti-party.

Aara says, but you're going to be missing out. And he's you're cousin. Isn't there, like, some unwritten rule that says you have to support your family when they're hosting something.

Otto says, no. I'm pretty sure you just wrote that book yourself.

Aara asks, so you're not going either? I'm not going by myself.

Otto says, you won't be by yourself, remember. It's a party. And it's Israel. The whole school is going to be there.

Aara says, the whole school except my two best friends.

Otto exchanges a look with Lemon. He says, she's pulling the best friend card. I didn't even know I had one. Did you take the picture for that? Lemon imagines the scenario. Holding an ID with her name on it and above her grinning face (if it wasn't mangled by the flash) are the words Best Friend. Her only other best friend was Grandma Pepper. And even if she remained her sole best friend until eternity, she'd be okay with that. But she liked the idea that someone outside of her family would want to be tied to her. Would want to be a part of her life. Especially someone from school. Someone she could go through it with together. She longed for that. That was special. And she couldn't just throw it away.

So, against all the blaring sirens in her head, she says, let me think about it? I'll get back to you. He is my cousin after all.

Aara's smile says enough. Lemon's “maybe” might as well be a green light.

Dabi’s booted foot kicked open the door to his office as he shucked off fresh blood from his hands before reaching into his pocket for a cigarette. He mumbled to himself with annoyance while placing one of the cancerous sticks between his lips and kicking over the small wastebasket that sat beside his worn-out desk. The sound of bottles clinking and rolling around the floor rang throughout the room when they spilled from the container and he plopped down on the desk chair.

“Fuckers - think they can run shit behind my back,” Dabi grumbled and kicked his feet up.

Igniting a small flame with his palm, the man lit his cigarette. Lips wrapping around it as he puffed it to life and finally took in a lungful of nicotine. With a deep and long inhale, Dabi deflated into the cushioned chair and exhaled, feeling his rage simmering down. Running a bloody hand through his black hair, he let his head fall back and rest, his blue eyes closed for a moment and tried to not set his entire office ablaze.

The last thing he wanted to do today was exhaust his energy on idiotic bullshit but on rare occasions, not even Dabi gets what he wants. That fact had been proven to be annoyingly true a lot lately.

To him it felt like more and more the past few months, his own pushers weren’t taking him seriously. Where they got the idea that they could screw him over without any consequences was beyond him. It was very clear that Dabi saw everyone around him as expendable, it was also clear that he was a raving lunatic who would cremate whatever he pleased without a single shred of remorse. The fact that some of his subordinates even had the balls to think otherwise made Dabi’s blood boil. Nothing pissed him off more than disobedience, especially when it came to his products, his livelihood.

So needless to say, when he found out a small group of his own workers were using his very own product to run and make cash for themselves like a couple of dumbasses, he didn’t have any second thoughts about teaching them a lesson. Once that lesson was learned and they were crying, begging for his forgiveness, covered in charred blistering skin with a few less fingers, toes and teeth to begin with, Dabi only laughed before disintegrating them into nothing but ashes at his feet.

All of that took energy, energy he didn’t have, and it was fair to say that all of this put Dabi in a worse mood than usual. And without you there now for him to take all that frustration out on, Dabi was on edge.

Sure he could torture anyone he wanted, but he didn’t get the pleasuring satisfaction from it like he did when it was you he was torturing. He missed those doe eyes looking back at him, full of big fat tears and unwavering fear but also unconditional blind love. Dabi craved to have those broken and shattered three words spoken back to him as he had his way with the thing most precious to him.

His angel.

The more he thought of you and the lack of your presence around him, the more pissed off and impatient Dabi got. It had been nearly a week since he called that shop you now hid behind, waiting for some sort of news. Of course, Dabi didn’t expect any of the tattooed men to really kill you, he hoped to drive a wedge between the trust that was built there, to cause the small crack that would eventually lead to a massive break and get you back in his grasp. But it was taking too long, way too long.

Dabi flicked his now burned up cigarette across the room, gritting his teeth.

He should’ve just grabbed your ass when he had the chance. He should’ve killed that red-headed fucker that you clung too while walking down the street. But no, for some reason Dabi wanted to play games because he was used to things going his way of course but once again, that wasn’t happening for him lately. The only thing that would bring the likes of a smile to his face was knowing how branded you were, how you would never be able to truly get rid of him. He relished in knowing that every time you looked at yourself, or that he looked at you, you both knew who you belonged to.

Before Dabi could continue to think, his phone started to ring. His eyes scanned the caller ID and he answered with impatience.

“About fucking time, I was beginning to think you were slacking on me.”

“I - I’m sorry sir, it’s just been harder now to get an eye on her and the source has been out of town until recently.”

“Shut up. Anything new?”

“Well as you suspected they didn’t take it, she’s still alive obviously. The thing is, now they’re always around her, she’s very well protected at all times and she hasn’t been back to her own place at all. I’m positive she’s staying with the red-head now. They even have his place on lockdown, someone is always around and watching.”

Dabi chuckled and shook his head. He expected this. It was a major annoyance and hindrance for him but it wasn’t going to stop him from getting to you, not in the least. He sighed calmly and sat up in his chair before replying.

“That source, when do you see them again?”

“Tonight.”

“Perfect,” he smiled wickedly and stood to his feet, “Bring em in tonight, I’m getting fucking impatient here and I’m done with playing games.”

“Kami I’m walking into work right now, I’ll text you okay?”

A pout could literally be heard through the speaker and it made Hitoshi chuckle and roll his eyes.

“You’re hopeless you know that, look I’m gonna see you again in a few more days so stop pouting!”

“I’m not pouting …” Denki replied with a whimper.

“Yeah and my hair isn’t fucking purple,” Hitoshi grinned as he walked into the bar he worked at, resting the phone on his shoulder so he could remove his jacket. “You’re so needy, you’re lucky you’re cute. Now I have to go, I’ll text you - promise!”

“You’re lucky I’m so easy!”

“I wouldn’t sound too proud of that if I were you Kami.”

“Shut up, you know what I mean. Ugh - I gotta go anyway and make a run with Lil’Mama. So I’ll talk to you soon.”

Hitoshi nodded and placed a hand on the bar top, “Okay, please be careful and safe, both of you.”

Denki awed into the speaker, probably smiling.

“Don’t worry Toshi, nothing is going to happen to her, I’ll slice and dice a motherfucker for this girl, she’s in good hands with me! Now be a good boy and get to work, bye!”

After hanging up Hitoshi smirked at his phone and sighed. He placed the device in the back pocket of his jeans and went to clock in, running a hand through his unruly locks. The door opened and closed as he was walking back to the front of the bar, making him look to see who it was and smiling.

“Hey Kage, long time no see! Ready for work?”

The silver haired male nodded with a friendly smile and pat Hitoshi’s back when they passed each other.

“Ready as I’ll ever be. How was your trip?”

“Good, just hung-out with some friends and took it easy, needed a little break. Hope it wasn’t too busy without me here.”

Kage shook his head and shrugged, “Nah man it was fine, no worries! But hey, we need to catch up, wanna chill after we close up tonight?”

Hitoshi nodded, agreeing with his pal before getting back behind the bar and setting up for the night. Soon Kage joined him and they made sure glasses were clean and ready, Hitoshi made sure there were full bottles of every kind of liquor lining the shelves and the bartop itself was clean. He was thankful his first night back at work after a week is with Kage, they always work well together and the nights go by without any problems when it’s them.

Kage actually started working at the bar maybe six to seven months ago after moving to the area. He and Hitoshi hit it off well, he was laid-back and carefree, a hard worker. It didn’t take long for the two of them to become friends and hang out every now and then after their shifts together. Once in awhile Hitoshi would catch him in town and they would grab something to eat together.

Any time Hitoshi needed off to go to see you in the next town over, Kage was always happy to help him out and cover for him. Hitoshi wasn’t proud to say that Kage could drink him under the table in no time and almost always ended up having to tote the hulking purple-haired man back to his own home. Any time they drank together was fun but always ended in a major headache and hangover from hell the next day for Hitoshi.

The two men managed to finish setting up just in time when a wave of people started to crowd into the bar out of nowhere, kicking off their shift with a bang.

Back and forth Hitoshi went, pouring drink after drink, taking a few shots here and there that were bought for him by happy customers. It wasn’t against the rules and it helped with tips, he just had to pace himself in between. A few hours passed and Hitoshi only had to use his quirk once to avoid a bar fight, other than that the night was good. Him and Kage were holding down the bar, doing tricks here and there to get even more money and good energy. Kage took a small smoke break and came back to relieve Hitoshi and give him his own small break.

With an appreciative smile, Hitoshi ducked out and grabbed a bottle of water before stepping outside for some fresh night air. He propped against the brick wall and took his phone out, chuckling at the numerous messages he had from the small group chat between him, Denki and you. Scrolling through the messages of nonsense and memes, he decided to just video call. Not even a second after ringing, yours and Denki’s faces popped up on his screen, full of smiles as you both waved.

“Toshi!” You both answered in unison.

He smirked and waved with a finger as he held the water bottle.

“Hey, cuties.”

You laughed and looked at Denki, pointing out the pink on his cheeks and earning a nip to your finger. You gasped with offense and Denki smiled, taking you under his arm and holding you close while the three of you chatted.

“How’s work?” Denki asked.

“It’s busy but it’s good. Gotta work my ass off this next week to get you guys some presents since I took off last week.”

“Aww Toshi, you don’t have to get us anything. Speaking of - we’re doing Christmas here at the shop, cooking, hanging out, games! So you have to be here.”

Hitoshi nodded at your demand.

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world sweetheart. How are you doing, that jackass keeping you safe?”

“Fuck you troll!”

Hitoshi smirked as he heard Kirishima in the background, he snickered when you flipped the red-head the bird off screen before you were pulled away and no longer visible. The sound of you laughing in the background filled his ears and made him smile, a relieved breath leaving his chest. Denki managed to get kicked in the crossfire of the tickle war going on between you and Kirishima in the background so he moved to a different room, your voice yelling out loud enough that you loved Hitoshi and said goodbye.

“Yes, he’s keeping her safe, we all are. You have nothing to worry about really, she doesn’t want you to worry anyway.”

“I know, but I can’t help it Kami. I feel responsible for her and being nearly two hours away from her at a time like this, with him around and knowing where she is - it’s fucking terrifying, I’m helpless here.”

Denki pouted, his yellow eyes softening and holding nothing but concern for his friend.

“I understand Hitoshi, but we’re gonna find him soon and we’ll deal with him once and for all okay? You’re not helpless here babe, just calling her like you do helps. It helps her not think about that shitty fact for a few moments, makes her forget. And I mean in all honesty ... if you wanted you could totally quit your job and just move down here, I’ll take care of you!”

Hitoshi looked at the screen to see Denki smiling deviously, he laughed and tilted his head.

“Oh yeah? You gonna be my sugar daddy, Denki?”

“What you don’t think I can be?”

“Well going by the other night and the way that you were riding my -”

“Okay okay okay - shut the fuck up!” Denki cut off the cocky purple-haired male as his hand frantically waved on the screen. “So maybe you’re more the daddy here in those terms. What if I gave you all the money and you act like it’s yours, that way I can still be the baby.”

Hitoshi gave a hearty laugh and shook his head.

“You’re something else Denki, what am I gonna do with you?”

Denki blushed and chewed on his lip. Hitoshi watched closely and smiled, placing his thumb on the screen and imagining brushing the pad of it over the soft piece of flesh. So maybe he was a sucker for this horny little freak since you found Kirishima. No one was complaining or shocked though, it was hard not to fall for Denki’s charm and pretty looks. Not even if you were Hitoshi Shinsou.

“Just think about it, okay babe? There’s nothing wrong in letting me take care of you, you can get a job around here, hell even work at the shop, I know you have some drawing skills. And if it helps put your mind and heart at ease to be closer to her, then I won’t hesitate to be your sort of backwards sugar baby.”

“I’ll think about it okay? In the meantime, I gotta get back to work and make more money so I can get you something special for Christmas, since you’re so cute and whatnot.”

At this Denki gleamed and nodded eagerly.

“Okay! Have a good shift handsome, text me later!”

After saying goodbye Hitoshi ended the call. His head leaned back against the wall and he looked up to see just a few stars peeking their way through the clouds.

Maybe moving wouldn’t be so bad. In the beginning, it was only half of his heart that was two hours away, now the other half was there too and it was getting harder and harder for him to be so far away.

Hitoshi pushed off of the wall and downed his bottle of water before tossing it into the trash can and returning back to work. For the rest of the night his shift went smoothly and finally it came to a close. Kage sighed and leaned against the entrance door of the bar after the last customer walked out at 2am and it was locked. Hitoshi groaned as he stretched his arms up high above his head and rubbed his back.

“Getting old there Shinsou?” Kage chuckled, rubbing his neck.

Hitoshi smirked and shrugged. “Guess so, maybe I should start taking some multivitamins or something. Let’s get this place cleaned up so we can take it easy!”

With a smile, Kage nodded and the two worked together in cleaning glasses, drink hoses, counter-tops and such. Hitoshi counted down the register and put away the loose change, divided the tip money evenly between him and Kage. Once everything was done, the two grabbed a few drinks of their own and got comfortable on the other side of the bar. The perks to working where they did was the free booze, as long as it wasn’t any of the more expensive shit and they didn’t get too hammered at work of course.

The silver-haired male handed Hitoshi a shot before pouring himself one, with a smile they both downed them and hissed at the burn of the liquor. Hitoshi chased it down with a swig of beer and sighed.

“So,” Kage started, after drinking his own beer, his matching silver eyes glistened when they looked at Hitoshi, “I see (Y/N) is still alive, yeah? Dabi’s not happy about that.”

Hitoshi quirked a brow, body going stiff and cold as he looked at Kage, his purple eyes narrowing at the guy. He was smirking at him and it wasn’t anywhere near friendly. The last thing Hitoshi hears before blacking out is the sound of his bottle slipping from his fingers and shattering on the floor.

Purple eyes slowly fluttered open, a tired and weak grunt leaving Hitoshi’s chest as his head hung low. It was pitch black wherever he was, eyes straining in the dark to try and make out shapes. There was a numb tingling in his arms and Hitoshi went to move them, only to realize that he couldn’t.

In fact, he couldn’t move at all; not his arms, his legs, and suddenly he realized that he couldn’t even move his own fucking jaw. Something was stuffed inside his mouth. A gag?

Panic started to flood Hitoshi’s system, his body trying to move, trying to budge. His breath began to grow shallow and his hands began to tingle - he couldn’t see shit. Hell, he could barely fucking breathe. Where the fuck was he?

“Finally wake up, sleeping beauty?”

Hitoshi’s head whipped in the direction of the familiar voice, wincing when his vision was suddenly being flooded with light. The sound of footsteps drew closer to him, looking at the ground he saw four different pairs of feet before looking up. Standing in front of him was Dabi, a blonde with gray-blue eyes and a scar splitting the middle of his forehead, an older male with gray hair that was smoking and had round eyeglasses and last but not least - Kage.

Hitoshi zeroed in on his coworker, eyes widening in his panicked state. A boulder dropped hard in his gut as he looked at his friend, trying to speak but his words not leaving past the gag in his mouth. Kage didn’t seem to be here against his will like he was, in fact he looked rather calm and satisfied. His friend watched him curiously as bile began to crawl up his esophagus.

“Must be hard to breathe huh?” Dabi finally spoke, breaking Hitoshi’s focus on Kage and bringing it to himself.

Purple brows furrowed, his panic making its way into a sudden burst of rage.

Hitoshi tried to lunge at Dabi, getting nowhere at all due to his bounds and the two strangers holding his chair back. Out of nowhere, Hitoshi felt something cold press to his temple, he looked from the corner of his eye and saw the oldest male standing next to him, grinning a smile with missing front teeth as he held a gun to Hitoshi’s head. Immediately he froze, not daring to try and move again. His purple eyes burn in loathing at Dabi, however, breathing heavily as he tugged at his bonds once more.

“Hitoshi, meet Jin and Giran, you already know Kage right?”

Is he fucking serious? Does he expect Hitoshi to reply?

He sends Kage a seething glare before turning his attention back to the man in front of him. Dabi chuckled before he looked at Giran and back at the bound man, rubbing the side of his neck with a sigh.

“Oh yeah the gag. Well I could’ve done a lot worse, like knocking your teeth down your fucking throat, cutting out your tongue, sewing your mouth shut, just beating you to a bloody fucking pulp until your lungs filled with blood or collapsed. You have no idea the things I want to do to you, Hitoshi Shinsou,” Dabi’s expression finally slipped from smug to borderline rabid, hand gripping Hitoshi’s hair and yanking his head back roughly. “First, you help that little bitch get away from me and proceed to fuck her like clockwork any time she shook her little ass in your face. You took and touched what’s fucking mine, and one day I’m gonna fucking kill you for it.”

Hitoshi didn’t flinch when Dabi shoved his head back and kicked his chair, making it screech against the floor as it moved back a few inches. The chair nearly fell back before Jin and Giran caught it. Giran held the gun to his temple steady in the process, Kage raising a brow from where he stood against a wall.

The psycho was furious, literally fuming - smoke rose from his body and filled the room with the distinct smell of ash.

“Dabs calm down, you can’t get too worked up and leave a mark on him remember,” Jin spoke, trying to calm his leader.

“I fucking know idiot, I’m calm. Take the fucking gag out, I want him to smart off at least once, dig himself into a deeper hole for the next time I have him.”

“B-Boss, his quirk.”

Dabi growled with annoyance and pushed Jin out of his way, un-doing the gag himself.

“He won’t fucking use it you moron, there’s four of us and one of him, he can’t use it on multiple people and if he is fucking stupid enough to even try, we’ll know and blow his fucking brains out.”

Jin nodded, looking genuinely hurt from Dabi’s scolding. Once the gag was out from between Hitoshi’s jaws, he gasped, taking in lungful after lungful of air. Drool seeped from the corners of his mouth and he managed to wipe it off on his shoulder, groaning and moving his jaw around after to try and get the feeling back into it.

“What the fuck do you want? How did you find me?” Hitoshi growled out, looking up at Dabi from under his purple locks.

Dabi smirked and tossed the gag to the floor, waving off Giran to put his gun down and then motioning for Kage to come over. Kage pushed off from his spot on the wall and took his place next to Dabi, crossing his arms as the stitched man patted his back roughly.

“You fucking know what I want, powder-puff. It’s not rocket science, I’m a fucking drug-lord. I can find anyone I want, except for that little bitch! At least that was the case - until I found you.”

Hitoshi’s inital rage sputtered out, his brows furrowing at the insinuation.

Dabi continued to speak before he gets the chance to respond, “I gotta hand it to you, you did a damn good job at keeping her hidden, even though I had you, it still took me a bit a get her location. That made me realize I needed an inside man - my man Kage here. He got that job working with you, getting on your good side and in the end getting me all the information I needed.”

Hitoshi looked at Kage with confusion, that feeling of bile rising up once more, the guy only shrugged and smirked at him. They couldn’t mean ...

As far as he could remember, Hitoshi had never spoken a word about you to Kage. He never had spoken a word about you to anyone, no one knew you even fucking existed except the guys at the shop of course. Hitoshi trusted no one with knowledge about you, especially not Kage. Sure they were work buddies but that didn’t mean shit. Not once in all their conversations, even drunken ones, did Hitoshi let your name slip from his lips, so no - there was no fucking way Kage had information.

“Whatever he told you is bullshit then, I’ve never said a fucking word about her to him.”

“Not that you remember right?” Dabi questioned with an evil smile. “You see Hitoshi, you aren’t the only one here who can fuck with people’s heads.”

A long finger tapped at Dabi’s temple as he chuckled and watched those purple eyes widen, Hitoshi’s expression going from smug to sheer disbelief. His mouth went dry, he tried to question the two before him about what the fuck they’re talking about. The fear in him breaking through more prominently now.

“Mind Compulsion.” Kage finally spoke up. “It’s my quirk. You see all I have to do is make eye contact with you and you become like a slave to me. You do whatever I want, that also means speaking, I can tell you what to say or get you to tell me something. After it’s all said and done, you have zero memory of it. Those ‘headaches’ you’d get every morning after we’d drink together, that’s the only con really for the victims of my quirk. So long story short, we drink, I use my quirk, you give me information and wake up the next day with any memory of it and thinking you have a hangover.”

Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck.

The sound of Dabi laughing and cackling like a maniac was drowned out by a high pitched ringing in Hitoshi’s ears and his head hung low. If it weren’t for his body being tied to the chair, he would’ve fell to his knees on the cold concrete. Hitoshi couldn’t tell if he was sweating or freezing, everything was numb and his stomach was lurching.

“Give yourself a hand Toshi, you told us exactly where she is.”

Hitoshi couldn’t contain the contents of his stomach anymore; they burned as they made their exit from his system and onto the floor. Dabi quickly jumped back with an amused grin, his crazed hyena laughter ringing deep in the his ears. Dabi stood there, relishing in the breakdown happening right in front of his eyes. How there were tears pouring from amethyst eyes, along with bile dripping from Hitoshi’s mouth and onto his jeans as he hurled everything he had, dry heaving when there’s nothing more to expel. Dabi was pissed that he couldn’t physically hurt Hitoshi right now but god did he forget all about that at the sight of the now broken man. It’s like he could hear his heart shattering, the sobs and retching like music to his ears.

“This is all your fucking fault Shinsou. You should’ve just left her to die, at least it would’ve been more humane than what I have planned for her now. Just imagine what she’ll think when she finds out her own best friend, her own fucking family, is the one that sealed her fate. Now, thanks to this,” Dabi paused and held up Hitoshi’s phone, “We have all the details we need for when we make our next move.”

“Please, j-just leave her alone! If you want someone to fucking play with and kill just to get off, then kill me! She’s too terrified to say anything about you, you fucking psycho, no one is going to come for you if you promise to leave her alone! T-Take me instead please, I’m f-fucking begging you, don’t hurt her anymore Dabi … please.”

Dabi rolled his eyes, tired of listening to the pathetic cries coming from Hitoshi. His booted foot connected with his chest in a hard kick, making his chair fall back. Hitoshi grunted as the air left his now sore lungs from the impact of the fall, his head ringing after being smacked against the ground. Soon there was an agonizing weight on his chest and Dabi crouched down, his foot on his ribs and resting all his weight on it. A cold hand gripped at his jaw harshly, making him hiss when Dabi jerked his head up to lock eyes with each other.

“Don’t worry you piece of shit, you’ll get your wish, no doubt about it, but first I need you one last time. You’re gonna go to that little fucking party and you’re gonna get her alone, those idiots trust you with her life and won’t question when you ask her to go outside together, right into my arms.”

“They’ll fucking kill you. He’ll fucking kill you!” Hitoshi warned through gritted teeth before spitting in Dabi’s face.

He isn’t smiling for long before Dabi placed his opposite hand on Hitoshi’s hip and engulfed it in flames. Ripping a scream from his mouth. The flames don’t last long before Giran and Jin are both pulling Dabi off of Hitoshi.

“Boss stop! You can’t fuck him up too much for it to be questionable when he wakes up!”

Dabi kicked like a child and threw both men off of him. He took a moment before telling Kage to come up with some sort of narrative for the new small sized burn on Hitoshi’s pale skin and walked back over to the man laid out on the floor, his shirt now charred as he breathed heavily from the pain. Dabi was resisting every urge to kick him, to make him cry again. Just the mention of that red-headed fuck had him in a silent rage.

Kirishima is nothing, nothing but a fucking obstacle in his way that can be dealt with easily. That fucker isn’t invincible, none of them are!

After taking a long deep breath, Dabi straightened his clothes and put on a smug smile and towered over Hitoshi, pressing his boot to his cheek.

“Let them fucking try, she’ll be fucking dead before they reach me and then for Christmas, I’ll send each and everyone one of them a very special, very bloody gift.” Dabi grinned, pushing Hitoshi’s face to the side as he turned to walk away and waved, “I’ll make sure to wrap up her heart extra pretty for Mr. Kirishima.”

Before Dabi walked out of the room, he ordered the remaining three men to deal with Hitoshi, for Kage to clean him up and get him back home, making sure to cover up for the burn he so irrationally left. Kage nodded, him, Giran and Jin all bowing as their leader exited.

Hitoshi looked up at the ceiling above him, tears stinging the corners of his eyes again. He was drowning in hopelessness, guilt and shame. He failed to protect one of the most precious things in his life and he had no one to blame but himself. Everything was so fucked up now and Hitoshi cried even harder as he thought about how he won’t have the chance to warn anyone, to try one last time to save you. In no time he’d be waking up in his bed with no memory of this night.

Hitoshi’s jaw clenched and his eyes screwed shut as he shook his head before letting out a shaky defeated breath.

“I’m so sorry (Y/N) … I’m so fucking sorry.”

A series of violent buzzing next to Hitoshi’s head is what wakes him from a dead sleep. His eyes cracked open and immediately he’s groaning from the pounding in his head. His hand searched under the pillows until it grabbed a hold of the ringing phone and he answered without looking at the caller ID.

“Hello.”

“Toshi, did I wake you?”

A sleepy smile grew on Hitoshi’s face at the sound of your voice and he shook his head. The tired man went to roll over and lay on his back, hissing when there was a sudden pain in his side.

“Hey, you okay? Toshi answer me!” You questioned, the concern in your tone thick.

Hitoshi brushed his covers off his torso, brows knitting in confusion at the blistered area of skin on his hip.

“Give me a second kit.”

Removing the phone from his ear, Hitoshi went to his messaging app and saw he had an unread text from Kage. The sound of you clicking your tongue impatiently carried through the speaker and made him smirk as he read the message.

➥ Kage : Hey man, I left some burn ointment in your fridge. You may or may not have gotten a little too wasted last night and thought it would be cool to see if you were flammable or not. Let me know if you need anything else.

A hum left Hitoshi, with a shrug he put the phone back to his ear.

“Sorry, I’m fine sweetheart, just a little hungover. What are you doing calling me so early huh, miss me that much?”

You laughed sarcastically on the other end. “You’re so full of yourself.”

“But you love me.”

“I do love you Hitoshi, very much. But - I was calling to discuss a few gift ideas for Denki with you, I mean only if you wanna know but maybe you don’t need my help at all. I just thought since you were so fucking whipped for him you might wanna go all out for your first Christmas together.”

Hitoshi rolled his eyes and chuckled. He tried to muffle his slightly pained groan when he crawled out of bed and went to head for his fridge.

“Alright kitten, let me hear it.”

@paimania : First up is Pai. For starters she’s like, the nICEST PERSON IN THE WORLD- she’s so fun to talk to and everytime we chat is just a blast! Even though it’s short because suck at keeping a conversation going LMFAO- I’ve known Pai for like... 2 years now, and I can say that she’s just an amazing friend to have, I remeber when she proposed the idea of a collaboration between her AU and my OCs, best moment of my social media life, it really changed everything for me. Thank you Pai

@jordanthecat11 : Jordy is just a big mush of sweETNESS, literally she’s just AMAZING- I met her through Pai since she was Pai’s main contributor to BATMC. It was awkward at first, but as we got to know eachother I say from my point of view I got really comfortable talking with her! Not only that she is like...so caring. So. Very. Caring. There will be times where I’m not feeling to well, and she takes the time to send me a message on discord to check up on me. I look up to her a lot, she so talented and creative and just overall the kind of friend you want to have. ❤️

@ros-doodles : Ros was the third person I met on tumblr. And the first person (besides Pai and Jordy) to interact with one of my OCs, Raziel. At first I got a wave of anxiety mainly because long before I actually existed on my tumblr acc, I would look at her art and be really inspired. She was an artist I really looked up to and I was so shocked when she commented on one of my posts saying she wanted to interact with Raziel. Not only that we started to talk on discord and..can I just say she is the most understanding person ever? Like really this girl is so gentle, sweet, soft, and just a precious bean who I will protect forever. I think the one flaw that she has tho is that she won’t admit sheS A FUCKING GOOD PERSON. Because she’s stubborn as hell and I need to smack some loving sense into her every now and then.

@wushfo : Fourth person I met on tumblr, gotta day this girl is weird.

..weirdly amAZING- SHES FUNNY AS HELL! She makes me smile and laugh so much! First time we met I was super shy and shocked that she actually started talking to me. I remember our first rp together, it was the thing that got me into rping in the first place. She messages me whenever she can to brighten my day, even if I’m upset, and hands me advice when I need it. Thank you so much @judearaya for tagging me! I didn't do anything fannish at all until July when I became suddenly obsessed with Good Omens. My biggest accomplishment in the first half of the year was caring for my wife as she recovered from surgery.

I may have trouble coming up with five fannish accomplishments because even though I spent a lot of time working on fannish stuff over the last half year, two particular projects were HUGE and took a lot of time each.

1) My Big Fic of Doom, Just Nerves. It was so much work, but I had so much fun with it! I included almost every little thing my id wanted to see on the page: genderfluid Crowley going by different pronouns at different times and never being misgendered, hedonistic Aziraphale getting more and more experimental with sex over time, the two of them having a platonic casual sexual relationship and chatting about other crushes and sex partners without any jealousy, Beelzebub using zie/zir pronouns, Aziraphale getting walked in on and feeling humiliated, Crowley being a snake, etc etc. I wrote all the scenes I wanted to include on index cards and put them in order, and figured out how it would all come together in a pleasing arc and what other scenes I would need to add to make it work. I must shout out @multsicorn again for being such an encouraging and generous beta and sounding board. At one point I was worried the story was too niche and would have no readers, and she said "I will love it enough for 1000 readers!" LOL. <3 Anyway I worked very hard on this story and I'm very proud of it. :D

2) My second fanvid ever, Bitch (to the song of the same name by Meredith Brooks). It's about Crowley being a bundle of contradictions. I did actual planning ahead of time, with a spreadsheet to make notes about what scenes should go with what lines, and after I'd put it all together I had Multsicorn beta and I did actual editing to make it as good as I could. I learned a lot and I'm really pleased with how it turned out! (And the ending with all the smiling still makes me really happy.)

3) On Regret and Eternity, a small ficlet about Crowley and Aziraphale talking about Ligur's death and what it would be like to be alone forever. I received some lovely comments on it which made me feel good. :)

4) This meta post about gender in Good Omens. Just me listing all my thoughts about gender-related things I noticed in the show and how I felt about it. Plus screenshots.

5) This drawing of Crowley in a dress. I used a dressup doll base by @lonicera-caprifolium, and added clothes, hair, make up etc. I'm not an experienced artist but this was a lot of fun and I may do more dress up dolls in future!

It was a little hard to find all these posts, so now I have made myself a new tag called "my good omens stuff" which also includes other meta and thoughts, plus that one post about Flake bars.

I'm not quite sure who to tag. I know some people have worked on fic but haven't posted any because it's all in progress. And some people have already done summaries of their best stuff of the year. And some people would not want to be tagged on this post because there's discussion of sex on it. Hm. I will tag @copperplatebeech, @themoonmothwrites, @aivelin, @lonicera-caprifolium, and @wheeloffortune-design. That's just some people I can remember off the top of my head have posted stuff recently, but please feel free to consider yourself tagged if you want to do this meme! More than the helicopter fight, more than the final boss, what took the longest for me to beat was the final room of the Leon’s Riddler-esque gauntlet: dodging and rolling past ceiling crushers, laser grids and sniper fire in a hand-cramping test of pure agility, all while the best song in game egged me on (yes, it’s the best, don’t @ me). @moryu’s chaotic array of sniper reticules, lasers, and spotlights perfectly capture the feeling being a rat in Leon’s maze, and wanting to wipe that smug grin off his face.

Unless skintight turtlenecks and cargo pants are regulation clothing for NULL research staff, I suppose Leon put forth at least the barest effort to follow dress code back in the day as he casually crosses off names of NULL test subjects while reclining at his desk. Lol I just did this, so: Amber, Jinjin, Onew, S.coups, Wonpil (though if we can double from groups my girl Luna would 100% be here)

3) Ult Bias group and why you love them?

f(x) - they were my first group and will forever be my ults. I just love how unique they are both as a group and each member individually! Every member shines so much in their own way and can absolutely stand as artists in their own right (and have been proving so with their solo projects the past 2+ years), and when they come together they create things that are so cool and beautiful and unique 💜 Honest to god after I sat down and listened to their whole discography on Spotify for the first time, I listened to nothing but them 8+ hrs a day, 7 days a week for almost a month I was so in love (i'm not exaggerating you can ask my roommate aldbaj) (SM please let us have f(4) again I would literally cry). That being said I also consider ASTRO and SHINee to be ults, and could write whole paragraphs for them as well 💕

(but y’all please support my girls, Victoria put out a Chinese single and should be following with an album, Amber’s halfway through releasing videos for her mixtape & Luna is releasing 2 digital singles this coming week! Krystal has no musical projects atm but you can check out her dramas and modeling~)

4) Ult Bias and why you love them?

My kpop origin story revolves around me coming across the Electric Shock mv in 2013 and being both in love with and absolutely floored by Amber. A girl? In a girl idol group? With short hair?? Who presents in a masculine way?? I couldn’t believe it was something the companies would let happen and it was so. I don't even know. But I knew it was really meaningful and important to me. 3 years later I actually fully listen to the group (honestly thank got I needed new music to listen to at work) and I finally learned her name - Amber Liu. I'm someone who id's as nonbinary, and I've really struggled with my perceived femininity my whole life - its something I'm still working through. When I saw Amber, a person working in a very gender stereotype-heavy industry and culture, being able to present in the way she's comfortable and standing up for the rights of others to do the same, it just really touched me on a deep personal level. Even though I know she id's as cishet she still has done a lot for those of us that don't, and I'm sooo insanely proud of her for sticking to her guns and choosing to live her truth through all of the hell people have given and continue to give her for it. Not only has she stuck it to the haters by prospering, but she's taken her experiences and her talents and made them into absolutely beautiful works of art.

She uses her music to express her feelings and talk about her struggles, and the fact that her work is so personal and has so much of her in it also means a lot to me (please listen to Borders, Need to Feel Needed, Beautiful, Heights, and this cover of One More Light NOTE: if self harm is a bad topic for you, maybe skip One More Light and the Borders mv (the song is fine and ultimately uplifting, and the mv does end happily). She has worked so. damn. hard. to pursue her dreams and passions, often having to rely on just herself and her friends to work when SM just straight up refuses to do their JOB as her MANAGEMENT COMPANY, and somehow she keeps doing it with that beautiful smile.

Aside from all the gooshy stuff, she’s just really goofy and fun (and attractive >>) AND she was born just 2 months before me so I feel there’s a connection (also my parents considered naming me Amber and she considered my name as a stage name??? #starcrossedlovers). Finally she has literally the cutest dog in the world please look at this picture and cry with me

5) Favorite Kpop Meme

lmaooo now that I’ve poured my heart out over Amber, lets look at the human meme that is Lee Taemin (i just picked one but my favorite meme is just. him.)

And a special shoutout to all of the rest of the SHINee memes, like I thought about linking just one but there are so many legendary classics how do you choose (I got to experience the burnt Gucci story in person though so a super special shoutout to that one)

For Amber, this picture has been my phone background for well over a year now so I guess this one?? It’s from the song festival when she and Ksuke debuted Breathe Again (many months before it’s official release) and she was just feeling herself so much during the performance (credit for the pic most likely goes to her fansite Ambossing)

As for Jinwoo adljasdfs I only have like 100 pics of him just on my phone this is fine I’m gonna pick this one, bc when he posted it I loved it so much I came very close to literally printing it out and framing it...... he just looks so happy!! And he’s being his most natural self, no hair/makeup, out with his family, doing something he loves. It just Warms My Heart

ok literally what the fuck

so this guy just messaged me saying all types of crazy crazzzy things. as you all (probably) know, im a black woman and i just got accused of reblogging black people only in memes. which is so dead wrong like??? i dont fucking understand but here we go. to be nice im not gonna put out their url but i will put everything they wrote to me. quickly id like ot say that im very fucking upset about this and honestly just so confused and stressed and what the fuck i dont understand so here we go.

first, they sent me this post and said "please don't reblog from if you care comfortable openly supporting people who use the n-word and when don't post black people as anything but memes. Thanks!"

now, i was confused. did avan jogia do something racist? i dont want to openly support someone who was racist so i quickly raced to my best friend google and looked up all types of things "avan jogia problematic" and "avan jogia racist". i wanted to make sure before i did anything wrong, but ultimately found nothing. so, i went ahead and messaged them this " hi! thank you for messaging me and letting me know! is it this blog specifically? “ ( i hadn't checked that i had actually reblogged it from THEIR blog and was not realizing they were calling me out lol im dumb) then said, "i dont want to openly support a problematic person, could you possibly send specific occurences please? thank you!" thinking they were still talking about avan jogia. what came next really fucked me up.

they resonded with this "Louis Tomlinson has used the n-word and never apologized. But that's not the only reason from what I would tell you don't reblog black people other than in memes and reaction gifs. We aren't here for your amusement. We are people and beautiful talented artists, actors, and etc but you seem to only be interested in every kind of some but my people. So thanks but no thanks" and in my head i was like "oh shit i forgot! lemme go delete that louis post!" but then i kept reading and my heart sunk. hearing this statement seemed CRAZY to me. like the latest post i could think of that had a black person in it was that really cool makeup post that i thought was super cool and reblogged cause i liked it. i reblog hella memes too so im sure some were in there but i was generally still confused.

i figured with their phrasing they maybe didn't get that i myself am a black woman, so i sent them this message. “ hey pal! so um, im not sure how i managed to upset you so badly but im sorry! id like to say quickly that i am a black woman! i dont think i only reblog reaction gifs of pocs but i mean im sorry? memes are funny? i absolutely agree that black people are talented, id like to believe i am too!” i personally don't see anything wrong with relogging memes and if they happen to have a poc or not i dont really care like its a meme. my apology was half assed because what did i really have to be sorry for? its just memes.

i then said, “ and i dont really think its my responsibility to make sure i only reblog non-funny completely serious posts about black people because thats only separating everything which is weird. also its my blog lol. “ to which they responded with “ Okay, that's nice Stacey Dash is black too...”

now at this point i start shaking as difficult memories from my childhood come smacking me in the face. i grew up on long island new york, i had primarily white friends and my family (who are also black) practically shunned me and i was constantly labeled the "white girl". as a child i was told to be confident with who i was so i never saw anything wrong with the way i spoke or acted beyond the thought of "oh, my siblings are just being assholes". i didn't have a lot of black friends growing up because i wasn't immersed in the culture, but now as a (semi)adult who understands the faults of how i was raised, i dont think its my job to openly support any race but i love black people and i love the fashion and art and culture that comes with it. i consider them to be my people even if no one else does. i don't believe i have any bias and i support equal rights constantly. it really upsets me to be told im not black. my race is not an award i have to win to feel part of a family. i just am. i cant change how i was brought up or how i am now and i dont want to. ijust dont understand where this person is coming from and i almost want ot know if anyone else feels this way? my heart is beating against my chest and my stomach is all fucked because of how messed up this makes me feel. next they said "bye" and i managed to say "i really am not sure what else to say? i mean im sorry you got so heated" and then they blocked me. i just dont understand. i really just dont understand. i didn't see my blog as anything to be ashamed of, or like i was making fun of any race or anything. i feel like i cant breathe right now because im so upset and i dont know what to say. i have this feeling inside me where i need to prove them wrong but thats impossible now and i dont know what to do. i just dont understand.

i want to apologize for such a long post and if you read the whole thing, thank you. i dont think ill be on indie for a few days. im sorry

1. If you were in front of your bias - how would you intro yourself? Well I would start off by trying not to cry hahaha no ok really tho I don’t think I would try to intro myself as much as I would try to emphasize how important he is to me and that his health and happiness should be a priority. I’d thank him and then cry afterwards.

2. Apart from your bias, who would you liked to be shipped with? Uhhh i’m not too sure about this one. I guess i’ll leave it up to the imagination of whoever is reading this.

1. Which k-pop group/artist did you first get into? Are you still into them today? Shinee! My bias is Taemin and I do still listen to them.

2. Do you have any hobbies/routines that you do every day/week? Does social media count? I guess aside from that when I wake up I check the news. I like to be updated on what’s going on around the world.

3. Do you listen to other music outside of k-pop? If so, what type? Yeah! I like to listen to a lot of different genres. I listen to pop, latin, r and b, rock, rap, classical, indie, acoustic, and hip hop. I just don’t really like country or metal music.

4. Any memorable moments back in 2017 that you’d like to share? I can’t think of a specific moment, but I think just moments where I would spend hours laughing with friends.

5. If you could for a day, which supernatural creature would you choose to be? If I could be a supernatural creature for a day, i’d like to be a dragon.

6. If you were a k-pop idol, which group can you see yourself most likely in? This is a unique question, hahaha i’ve never actually thought about this. Hmmm I think I could see myself in a group kind of like Girls Generation x Loona. If that makes sense, because they are talented and well rounded. I could also see myself in a group with a lot of other people in it. I also just really like their music styles and concepts fjksajdfklsa

7. Name the first three things you see on your right. On my right? Errr I see a desk, my phone, and a book i’m in the process of reading (it’s Hamlet btw so I guess it’s more of a play).

9. Dream job? Ohhh at this point in time i’m not entirely sure in which direction my life is headed, but as of now i’m leaning towards Journalism.

11. 2018 New Year resolutions? I want to cut negativity out of my life. I think 2017 was such a rough year because I did things I never liked and I hung around people who brought me down. So in 2018 I want to start fresh and work on being happier.
