Sometimes I listen to canon Gabriel quotes to imagine it as Centiclipse and this one reminded me of a silly dynamic between him and Lunara I've rotated for a while but never rlly posted about. so here's a silly video abt it LMAO
[Video ID: A still image of Centipede Lord Eclipse doing quotation mark hand motions as he angrily looks down at someone off camera. His dialogue appears on screen in time with the audio, which is the voice of Gabriel from Ultrakill, saying: You are not "whimsical" or "silly."
The frame cuts to Lunara (Evil Lunar), who is drawn with half of their face replaced by the outline of something bright, who is smiling up at Lord Eclipse in a smug, cat-like way. The audio continues, his voice raising, to say: "You are not a "little guy!"
Now, Lord Eclipse looms over Lunara as he flexes his hands angrily, the text in all caps covers up the drawing at the bottom of the screen as he full-on shouts: "You're unsettling!" The screen shakes with the emphasis. The final frame is a much simpler doodle of Lord Eclipse standing beside Lunara to point at a small, sad looking Servant Sun off the side and saying: "and you're scaring the hoes." Not in the audio but said by Lunara is a simple "blehhh :3". End ID.]
one of the things that fascinate me about thawne: yes, he CAN be normal with kids! surprisingly normal!
((not at all times, though. his mental illness still spills through and as usual he, in trying to manipulate or hurt others, spits out at them the exact stuff that would hurt him (or have in his childhood/barry's rejection interpretation) the most in the first place lmao))
but at the same time. his like second instinct when doing his bullshit is FUCK THEM (as) KIDS
frankly i think the best way to differentiate fanon sky and canon sky is to take a look at groose's redemption arc. both forgive him for the bullying but fanon sky says "he didn't mean it!" Canon sky says "i deserved it"
(for reference, canon sky is sky as shown in the game/inferred directly from sksw)
Saying Batman hits his kids and all his other abusive tendencies only exist because people want to use them as “tropes” to woobify his children is not like…the good take you think it is
It’s important to me that you all know that. It’s not actually bad, an ‘incorrect reading of the text’ or ‘only acknowledging bad writing’ when people want to talk about how Bruce’s actions can actually severely effect those around him.
It’s also important to me that you all know that while maybe a parent hitting their adult child may not count as child abuse because the child is no longer a kid, it does; however, still count as assault, battery, and can even be considered domestic abuse if their living or staying at the manor at the time it happens and is still very, very bad and not okay
As much as I enjoy the idea of Micah rizzing up naive city girls with (highly exaggerated) epic tales of his cowboy adventures, I know in my heart from watching his painful flirting attempts with Mary-Beth and Abigail that most of his experience with women comes from working girls
any spare thoughts on regulus' relationship to his parents? 🎤
i genuinely dislike any hcs or stories which try to make walburga and orion sympathetic characters . it can be interesting to explain their actions but they are canonical child abusers . and no one say it isn’t canon bc ill smack you on the head w all the quotes i have collected . growing up in grimmauld is described as bedlam lol …… also it’s been described as a hostile home environment .
that being said i do think regulus loves his parents , in a weird way . he feels very attached to them and bases his concept of himself on them. i love when regulus calls them mama and dada, it just shows how Close he wants to be to them, and how much he listens to the vitriol they spew. regulus is someone who repeatedly thinks that he can just Do better and earn their love. i do not think walburga loves her kids. atleast not them as people. perhaps the idea of having kids and being a mother but she does not know her kids . i think regulus misinterprets this pride over her being a successful pureblood woman as love and it fucks him up!! i largely think orion is neglectful, due to work and such, which allows regulus to write off his actions as like . not his fault and circumstancial.
long story short i think regulus should be allowed to kill them with a dull kitchen knife so it hurts but he never would. it’s why he chooses to die with his family rather than leave . if he can’t earn their love it’s better he’s dead :/
this vanity fair article will always be the funniest thing in the world to me i don’t think i’ve ever seen a cast whose actors’ personalities line up so fundamentally with the characters they play
I haven’t read a lot of retellings (bc I’m picky as hell) but every time I hear a Medusa retelling make Perseus a shallow one dimensional villain I get so mad. Like I understand parodying the heroic characters as the “real villains” and making the monster the real hero (that’s literally the entirety of the Shrek franchise) but when so many retellings depict a teenager who is trying to protect his mother from a tyrant as a bad guy I can’t help but side eye.
Like if it was one or two retellings I wouldn’t care but this trend is so common that ppl genuinely believe he’s an evil monster and strip him of all the complexity and good qualities that I love about him in the first place.
So ig the most direct answer to your question is “Stone Blind” and “The Shadow of Perseus”.
love how karasuno's main characteristic is that theyre scrappy as fuck and hate losing. they dont wanna lose to their rivals and they dont wanna lose to their teammates. they grow into these people that choose to step up to the plate over and over bc they have teammates they trust to support them if they fail, and if they choose to stay back then they're only disappointing themselves. it's so great.
zelda and shadow in the fsa manga drive me ridiculously insane actually. the panel where shadow is kneeling on the floor and zelda is standing there looking down at him and they're SEEING each other is enough to give me fucking RABIES. LOOK AT THIS
also while thinking about Beyond and characterization... I wonder if (based on Beyond)
there is a difference in how McCoy behaves towards Spock in relation to if others (Jim) are around or not
because Beyond spent so much time with Spock and McCoy only, we saw them getting along, we saw Spock opening up to McCoy and sharing personal things with him and being openly emotional with him: "ofc I care, Leonard"; we saw them bicker, but that was nothing serious, and AOS!McCoy just needs to complain aloud
But when Kirk was around, McCoy was more "gotta needle Spock"
and I think the difference in McCoy's attitude would be fun to explore
(but I might also be completely wrong, and it isn't like this at all lol)
[ID: fake discord screenshots between the tmnt boys. The chat reads as follows, with their discord nicknames in parentheses:

Laid awake for several hours thinking about wanting to make this joke the other day
Bonus: the aftermath
[ID: a simplistic drawing of the turtles. Mikey runs at high speed chasing Donnie and Leo, Raph lays behind him flat on the floor with x's for eyes. There are action lines emanating out from where Donnie and Leo are running to. End ID]
Was thinking about the girl Paul/boy John concept again with her being mostly gay and withholding sex to have control and him getting insecure and impatient, and I realize I've basically wound up recreating the plot to Norwegian Wood
frustrating how so many craft books have a section about "how to sell what you've made"
like on one hand i get it because the person writing the book has obviously made their craft a full-time job. and they might have some tips and tricks that might be useful, and there are people out there who might be trying to start a small business out of it
but on the other hand it's just exhausting and feels like another voice saying "what's the point of having a hobby if you're not going to monetize it"
