It's a great day today! I knew that while I would be praying for work, when it came, it was really stressful. I work 6 days a week due to the nature of the job, and often during my day off I have some chores. It was challenging to find time to write, or think about writing.
Now that there's a little bit more leeway for me, I took this opportunity to go back writing something I actually enjoy. While the progress was small - three scenes from a three-act play - I was proud of it!
This is your friendly reminder to be proud of your work too 💖💖💖

·˚ ༘₊· ͟͟͞͞꒰➳ A BRIEF WIPS OVERVIEW.
Hello! I am not good with deadlines, especially when I set them myself. This post was supposed to be up three days ago, but it’s finally here! I’m very excited to share these projects as they were all created from different periods of my life, going back four years at the most.
These will be very short intros, but each WIP mentioned here will have a proper, detailed post when it’s time. The projects also aren’t listed in sequential order of when I’ll post about them with the exception of the first WIP.
A heads-up, most of these are romance since I used to write only romance. It was only about two years ago since I decided to finally branch out, and those stories will be coming soon! For now, I still have to figure out how to write characters that have a way higher IQ than I do…
On we go to the WIPs!
WHEN ART TALKS
— currently undergoing the first draft. — first person — a college romance where a reserved poet who is afraid of public perception connects with an outspoken musician due to their preference on using words as their art medium. — contains late night walk convos, cigarette smoking, passionate rambles, and microwaved meals. — “‘Why do we care about them when it’s our story to tell? We live our truth, we speak our truth, and we have to trust that it’s good enough because it’s all we got. The message will be received by those who are meant to hear it.’”
BLIND SECOND CHANCES
— currently undergoing the first draft. — dual first person — an adult romance in which ex-friends turned (unofficial) ex-lovers from high school decide to explore the old feelings that resurface when crossing paths eight years later. — lots of reminiscing, betrayal, weekly wine nights, and fancy dates. — “‘You’re holding onto a love from a situation where we didn’t even know our place in the world yet. We spent nearly eight years growing into the people we are now, so you need to be prepared for our dynamic to look and feel different because we aren’t the same kids we once were.’”
TO NEW BEGINNINGS
— brainstorming complete, drafting to begin soon. — third person, still deciding on the type — an adult romance story of a woman who decides it’s time to start over on a blank canvas, and meets a booked and busy workaholic along the way. — roller skating, painting, solo adventures, and plant shopping. — “‘It’s scary to deviate from your current life and start anew when your life no longer serves you or your purpose. But I’m not equipped for misery, so I’ll be damned trying to save a life that lost the chance of saving forever ago.’”
UNTITLED ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE
— currently a 3am one-liner, brainstorming begins soon — pov to be determined, leaning towards third person limited. — an apocalyptic fiction where a teenage girl fights everyday to survive in an ongoing zombie apocalypse with hopes of finding her younger sister. — found family, zombie slaying, survival vs. morality, and, uh… death. — “She looked at every colorless home she walked by and wondered what stories could be told. What every stored memory that slipped through the cracks consisted of and the emotions they’d provoke. If the lives that once occupied these spaces were unfortunately fortunate enough to make it out like she did. If they constantly watched the memories flash before their eyes as they realized those would be the last batch of joyful, painless memories; how remembering became torturous and insufferable, but is all they have to remind them of their own humanity.”
UNTITLED TWISTED BONNIE & CLYDE
— currently a 3am one-liner, brainstorming begins soon — first person peripheral or third person limited — a dark and twisted romance where two toxic lovers are at the beginning of an inevitable end and play fire with fire the entire way through. — manipulation, heists, lies, and expensive jewelry. — “The venom drips off of every word she says. She watches every last drop seep into my skin and become one with the blood that runs through my veins. How it attempts to shut down my body in hopes that I’ll beg for mercy in my final moments of weakness. That I’ll surrender my life into her hands as those soulless and apathetic eyes beam with some sick and twisted excitement. But I am sick and twisted too. We are two bodies wrapped in the same snake skin, and a snake cannot get poisoned by its own venom.”
PAST LIFE LOVER
— redoing the brainstorm process — first person or objective third person (quote will be in third person) — a soulmate, young adult romance in which a girl who no longer believes in love suddenly gets pulled in by the new barista at her favorite hangout spot. — love at first sight, breakfast deliveries, denial, and baking. lots of baking. — “Then there it was. The locking of the eyes where the inability to look away grows more and more intense with each passing second. They didn’t even know each other, but something in their eyes told them that there was a home waiting for them within each other’s souls.”
ANGEL AND KEN*
— currently on the backburner, brainstorming resumes once past life lover is complete. — prequel to past life lover. — *very much a temporary title — first person or objective third person — a 50’s historical romance where a pessimistic single mother is convinced to see the greener side of the grass by a jazz musician who looks at life through a rose-colored lens. — jazz clubs, slow dancing, tea parties, and red corvettes — “‘Why shut yourself out from the world when there are people like me that have waited for you to waltz right into their life? I know, the modern day world is frightening and filled with so much hatred that it’s hard to find happiness through it all. But people find a purpose to wake up every morning because of that one person that casts the brightest light. You’re my sun in a world full of darkness, and I hope to be the moon that reflects your light when you’re no longer visible in the sky.’”
I know I keep saying it, but I truly can’t wait to properly share these projects. I just hope everyone will enjoy reading it all and find comfort within these characters :)
I will post the the detailed summary for When Art Talks either on Monday or Tuesday (please yell at me if i don’t follow through omg), and the character intros should follow closely behind!

HI ANNA<3 here i am with more asks. 1 again :), 5, 12, 18, 22, 30 ?
HI ABBY <3 :D thank you for the questions!!
the last sentence you wrote
Instead she purchases two hundred gold pieces worth of ruby dust, still the apprentice she has always, always been.
this is actually from a little story about my wizard jane :) she's in this thing right now where her dead mentor is alive again (kinda) and is communicating with her/puppeting her in her sleep through that eye she stole. has she figured out that that eye maybe needs to come out? well, if that happened, she could someday be alone, so no.
5. first sentence of the fifth paragraph of an unpublished WIP (sifting through 1000000000000 WIPs)
The radio crackles, promising favorites of yesterday and today, and Pike knows that fucking guitar intro—of all the songs—I love you like organ failure / It’s never, ever gonna get better.
this document is called 'yeah screw it pike pov' because maybe nobody cared about the last au but god damn i had a great time with it so there will be more
12. a trope you’re really into right now
i've been nonstop every night for the last week reading 'reborn as a villainess' stories. so you could say i'm into it. it may have taken over my life a bit - i kinda wish it was more of a thing in the fic spaces i'm in! i like 'OC/Self-Insert dropped into the world' a lot but i think it would be very fun to do this 'ooooooh what if fate has already doomed me' that all of these stories explore
18. if you keep them, share a deleted sentence or paragraph from a published fic
i don't usually keep them! i know it's something a lot of people do, and i'm sure i have a few in a paper notebook somewhere, but if something in a fic isn't working i just say goodbye and delete it
22. do you ever worry about public reaction to what you’re writing? how do you get past that?
oh constantly. not in a 'will this be popular' way (i write my own ideas and i never think they're going to gain a lot of traction, since i tend to write for things that are a few years old/have really established Big Fics already) but i do have that little voice in my head that says 'if you get one single detail wrong... someone will comment about it and you will Die.' but that has happened before - the one that comes to mind is d20 fans talking about me mixing up the names of the side schools - and guess what? i did not die. the more old and established something is, the less afraid of this i actually am (star wars is old enough that so much stupid shit has happened in it who cares if i let them use paper. i'm not taking your fucking star wars vocab quiz i'm writing about these people wanting to fuck so bad it makes the galaxy look stupid) but in the past it has lead to me talking myself out of writing things, which is pretty sad!
i just try to remind myself that this is For Fun, and that i have never actually been exploded for getting details wrong in a fanfiction that, again, i do for free in my spare time that maybe forty people will read. it's a mixed bag.
30. share a fic you’re especially proud of
you may think i'm going to talk about small jobs for the millionth time because it is my beloved my shining star my castle in the air but in this case! i would like to give a little extra love to and stand by with the champagne which is. undeniably. about barbie princess and the pauper. it's fun!! it was UNBELIEVABLY fun to write. it's silly and a little bit emotional and references the songs of a movie i played until the vhs wore out, i wrote it on a whim last summer, and i hold it in my heart <3

Book Interview Tag
Thank you @kindofwriter for tagging me in this interesting scenario. A little late but I wished to complete this anyways. Without further ado:
You know we all sit there thinking about being in a book interview, so I thought I’d make a tag meme! Pick a WIP and tag some friends!
1. What prompted you to write your novel/story/script/podcast/poetry collection?
My writing actually began in my senior year of high school. The guidance counselor took note of how I would subconsciously lose things just to rewrite them for the sheer desire of wanting to write. He suggested I try creative writing which I had never attempted or considered an option though I worked at a bookstore myself. A few days later I was glancing at the back of a book and took note of two words that sang to me from the description, “psychotic angel”. From these words my story was born.
I created many worlds from that point forward, but now that I have decided to actually attempt to publish a novel for the first time, I came back to the story that started it all, to see not only how much my ability has grown, but as a tribute to that counselor who pushed me in the right direction, and as a reminder that we all start somewhere.
2. Who has been the biggest influence on this piece of work?
The biggest influence upon my current work in progress falls upon two people actually. My wife who has effortlessly promoted me and survived me wanting to talk about ideas I have brainstormed and nothing else whilst out on a date night; as well as an old friend and fellow writer I have known for many decades, they helped me find my voice and understand what I wanted to say when I was first starting out.
3. Was your main character inspired by anyone you know? Do you think they appreciate the likeness?
I honestly have two main characters who are connected by more than blood. They are both based upon real life people I knew. The male character was inspired by a mix of people and the best traits of each mixed with a few of the worst traits. The female was actually based upon that fellow writer I mentioned previously. She is aware, and is overly critical as she doesn’t want to look bad in my novel. Haha she has nothing to worry about.
4. Why do you think people need to read your book?
This question is always hard for me to answer, because I do not write with the intention of making people read it. I read to allow me to survive in a world overly fraught with the darkness harbored within everyone. I read to explore things not possible in our mundane, boring world. Books have made things possible in my world that allowed me to grow into who I am, and made life bearable in ways it would never have been otherwise.
A better question, is what do I hope to get out of writing. In that case my answer is simple. I wish to give that same help, have that same impact on just one single person, no matter who that person may be. If I can make one individual’s life a tiny bit easier, than I will count myself accomplished. That is all that matters to me.
5. Whom are you most excited for to read your book?
Honestly my wife and my kids, as well as my best friend who once a month sends me the video of Stewie from family guy asking Brian about that book he will never finish to remind me that he is indeed still waiting. haha.
6. Which is your favorite scene that didn’t make it into the final draft?
A scene I had to cut with a heavy heart happened to be where a sibling of the main POV was looking into some rumors that he didn’t believe. It was his intro scene and I was quite fond of this scene. However a friend talked me into watching a popular show (which wasn’t bad but I never finished it) and I came across a scene on there that also was a sibling looking into things for different reasons though. However the similarities between the show’s version and mine were similar enough that I wasn’t comfortable keeping it and had to scratch the scene.
7. Do you have any more stories planned that are set in the same universe?
I do have one more story in mind, within the third universe. Not a continuation per se, but an after the fact storyline that takes place after the events of the original story. It follows the events of how life in the human world changed when the three realms were separated.
8. What would you say is the main theme of your book?
My main theme? I would have to say it has strong elements of those who just wish to find themselves and their place in a world that is constantly changing for better or worse, with strong elements of balance in all things. Balance is a recurring theme in all of my stories in some shape. If you don’t know what I mean, I guess you now have reason to read my work.
9. Do you have any plans for a movie adaptation of your work? What would you have to change? What would absolutely have to stay the same?
I see everything in my mind as a video reel, and I have been referred to by many as a method writer, getting into character mentally as I write. So when I write, its the equivalent of watching a movie and hurriedly trying to write down every detail of the scene as it plays with no ability to pause or rewind.
How does this pertain to the question? My work is already written as if it were a movie thanks to how my mind works, though you cannot always tell from reading it, making an adaptation to the big screen easier than it might be for others. Would I go that route? I never decided. But it wouldn’t be out of the question.
10. What’s one quote that you wrote that just stuck with you?
This would actually be a quote from a secondary character that affects the thinking and growth of the main POV later on:
“There are few things in this world stronger than a promise kept. How do we know those kept promises benefit us?”
-------------
I did not tag anyone but feel free to use the questions if you are interested. Until next time.
