i feel like one big difference in how mumbo engages with hermitcraft vs how other big successful hermits engage with it is that a lot of the hermits have settled into mcyt as a day job, whereas mumbo makes consistent efforts to grow from it. tango with his 15 years experience as a game dev, cubfan the published astrophysicist, etc., for many if not most of the hermits, being a cc full-time was a deliberate choice they made that involved leaving behind a previous job. in skizz or joe's case, it's smth they worked a long time to achieve. cc!mumbo is a lot younger and has all these other ambitions he hasn't explored yet. and at that age with those artistic skills, who wouldn't want to try and leverage their platform for other things, right?

there's a very different vibe watching mumbo vs. watching hermits who clearly plan to be full-time hermits as long as they're able

the in-character result is a very absent c!mumbo and a lot of really fucking sad grumbo interactions. kill me now forget the cactus ring, the desert i'm stuck in is sahara

This was a wonderful prompt! it took me looong to finish it. who knew making a comic would take long? like each page took me 4+ hours. but then i am a slow worker lol and this is my first time drawing a comic

anyways!! whats the dealio with the double life reference in page 5? i really wanted to insert it, as initially i was going to write this prompt as a fic but i didn't like where my writing was going?? A chapter in it showed Grian built the Velvet Keep (? Im sure thats what they called their base) pretty big with a kitchen unintentionally resembling third life's haha isn't that crazy. and Scar baked cookies for him for his secret soulmate in said kitchen, Grian saw him and was of course shocked. Now, the question is, does Scar remember their little moments in the kitchen in the desert? I'd said up to your interpretation!! Your personal headcanon on how life members remember past series. I just thought it'd make an ironic call on a future event, not like Grian was remembering a future event. I hope it wasn't so jarring hasdgfjlepnfk I really wanted to insert it okay!!

okay thats all, this was hard work really, i would say i'm not quite satisfied with it but atleast i got it done? so im proud of myself for that. even though this took up a lot of space in my mind leaving some of my other entries for this event neglected

Hermitcraft

Grian/Scar or Scarian is the most tagged relationship with 1201 out of 13,710 fics being tagged, roughly ~8.8% of all fics. 522 fics have Scarian as their OTP/only contain this relationship

Grian & Scar or Desert Duo is the most tagged platonic relationship with 1059 out of 13,710 fics being tagged, roughly ~7.7% of all fics

Quite interestingly, Hermitcraft has the tags "Fluff" and “Angst” both being tied to be the most tagged additional tag with 2476 out of 13,710 fics being tagged each, roughly ~19% for both tags!

Compared to last time, Grian/Mumbo (Grumbo) and Grian & Mumbo (Waffle Duo) are being significantly beaten out by Scarian and Desert Duo, despite being the most tagged relationship(s) back in August. Grumbo has 831 fics (~6.1%) and Waffle Duo has 861 (~6.2%) fics. Sorry Grian and Mumbo enjoyers!

Yea I’m just a huge sucker for forbidden love, and them being terrified of getting caught, but almost wanting to be anyway just for the sake of defiance. AND IF/WHEN THEY DO GET CAUGHT. Scar and Grian are both 100% the type to be willing to protect the other from backlash at the cost of their own life IF YA KNOW WHAT I MEAN. 5 i'll befriend you in reverse, why the hell is scar stuck in the woods? despite being a powerful fae, he can't leave the enchanted woods, they're like a physical part of himself that has its own sentience and desires. essentially, a deal he made when he was young turned sour, and now the forest follows him everywhere. the woods want scar to live as long as possible, because he's what keeps the woods alive.

6 so soon enough, you'll find you never knew me at all this fic could be seen as a companion to another i wrote, where grian's the second ever Watcher to be "born" and not "chosen". the "void" scar sees in grian? it's a Watcher-side effect.

scar's a vex hybrid himself, but hides it in order to scam his way through life. grian, trapped, is now at the mercy of a mad scientist who, in his desire to quell society's fear of hybrids, wants to dissect him. grian blackmails scar into helping him stay alive and tries to escape, eventually the two finding common ground.

oh, also mumbo's the mad scientist. he makes dioramas of mobs and decorates his lab with them for fun.

23 honestly, a proper superhero au. at least a one shot, but specifically for the romantic tension.
