Once, long ago, when I was a kid, and before the Disney version, there was an illustrated book of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid"

It was done in watercolors, and was beautiful but dark, matching the original fairy tale

I think about this book whenever I think about fairy tales I've read and I kind of wish I could find it now

the wiki actually seems to have pretty good versions uploaded by its users right now! visiting faction pages should have the image near the top, like with belobog's or with CISRT's
