I'm so happy I had the chance to stop by Nintendo Live earlier this month! It was so much fun exploring all of the booths set up throughout the event.

SILENT BUT RECKLESS — TODOROKI SHOUTO

Shouto wasn’t exactly known for his talkative nature. 

It was quite the opposite, in fact, with news agencies and magazines often referring to him as the quiet one of the Big Three. Though, he supposed that was better than being known as the one with the family trauma. 

But people often mistook his silence for thoughtfulness, he realized. Or an intense observation of sorts. And while at times that was the case, most times, it was simply because he didn’t have anything to say. 

Shouto blinked as he realized the situation he was in. 

He had just stopped a villain from robbing a luxury clothing store for the third time this month, nothing too exciting, yet the journalists showed up each time for an interview with him after. 

“Sir, we are live,” the reporter reminded with a nervous laugh. “We asked if you had a message for any…”

She kept talking, but Shouto was unable to concentrate. Not because he had heard it millions of times before, but because he noticed a strange movement from the corner of his eyes. 

This was one of the times he was both silent and observant. 

Shouto spotted you crossing the street on your phone, staring at your screen and completely oblivious that a car was headed your way with little to no sign of stopping. 

Without thinking of how it would look to the public for him to ditch an interview mid-sentence, he ran over to you before he even processed his legs moving. Throwing his right arm out in front of him, he sent a wall of ice up to block the vehicle’s predicted path, reaching you just in time to sweep you off your feet and carry you away from the road as the ice began to shatter from the impact. 

The ice wall was thick enough that the car slowed before fully breaking through, but that didn’t stop Shouto from instinctively shielding you with his body in the event that ice shards propelled towards you. 

Once he heard the sound of a crash and alarms, he figured the vehicle was fully stopped and the authorities arrived to assess the situation themselves. Would he get scolded by his agency for putting up an ice wall and potentially damaging someone’s vehicle? It was likely so. But that was better than someone actually getting hit by a car instead. 

The world wanted heroes, but only when they fit into their ideal mold. And while rules and regulations helped keep order in the world, in moments like these when someone’s life was in danger, Shouto couldn’t be bothered to care.

Slowly, his body relaxed and he was able to finally take a look at you. At the person who, for some reason, was so focused on their phone they didn’t notice a car coming at them. 

Any criticisms that threatened to come out of his lips stayed there once he got a good look at your features. He found himself taken aback by how beautiful you looked, though he quickly cleared his throat and recovered from his blatant staring. 

“Be careful when you’re crossing the street,” said Shouto, walking over to a section of grass and away from the commotion that was happening on the road, with you still in his arms. “What was keeping you so occupied?” 

You looked up at him guiltily, your phone clutched between your hands. “I was trying to order my food…” 

He blinked. As a pro hero, he shouldn’t be one the judge victims. But he couldn’t help but raise his brow just a bit. 

“I was really hungry,” you said sheepishly, hiding your face in embarrassment. “But I can’t believe I was so focused on my order I didn’t realize the car wasn’t stopping!” You sighed to yourself before meeting Shouto’s eyes once more. “Thank you for saving me, Shouto. I’m sure you had much more pressing matters to attend to instead of saving some random person off the street.”

He shook his head. “That’s the most important part of the job. Saving people.” 

You smiled gratefully at him and he almost had to look away from your dazzling grin. “Well, thank you for saving this idiotic person right here.” You gestured towards yourself. “Still, I hope my order went through…”

A mixture between a snort and a laugh escaped his lips. You had almost gotten run over and your biggest concern was whether or not your dinner was on its way? 

“It’s didn’t!” you cried in exasperation as you peeked at your phone. “Well, I might as well get a convenience store meal at this point.” Sighing, you leaned your head against his chest for a brief moment of comfort. “By the way, you can set me down now. I think people are taking pictures of us.” 

“Oh,” said Shouto, “right.”

Carefully, he loosened his hold on you and set your feet carefully onto the floor. Before fully letting go of you, he made sure you were stable and steady. For some, it took a while for the events to process and the panic to settle in, and he wanted to ensure you were truly okay. 

You had a worried look on your face as you noticed the video cameras still focused on the two of you. 

“Will you get in trouble for this?” you whispered, leaning close to his ear. 

“For rescuing someone from a getting hit by a car and talking to them after?” He considered things for a moment. “Most likely. But it’s okay. The most important thing is you are safe, both physically and mentally.”

Giggling, you nodded, reaching up to pat him on top of his head. Shouto was startled by the sudden touch, but he didn’t pull away.

“Who knew Shouto was such a worrywart,” you teased. “I’m safe and unharmed, all thanks to you. In fact, to show my gratitude… Why don’t I treat you to some convenience store dinner? On me, of course!” 

Shouto was silent for a bit. There were plenty of things he should be thinking about right now. The headlines that would be made about Pro Hero Shouto saving someone and then going on a “date” with them right after. The damage it could do to his reputation. The overtime hours the agency would make his public relations team work.

Instead, his silence was used to think of what he exactly he wanted to get at the convenience store. 

“Okay,” Shouto said once he made up his mind. “I’ll take a curry bun.” 

You laughed and gestured for him to follow you to the nearest convenience store. “I like that, too. You have good taste.” 

He followed along beside you, pleased with himself when he heard your captivating laugh. 

“I think I want an egg sandwich tonight,” you stated, a thoughtful look on your face. “Or maybe some fried chicken. Or an egg sandwich and fried chicken? And a smoothie for a drink and dessert all in one item! But maybe I want a crepe instead…”

As you rambled on, Shouto suddenly understood how you were too engrossed with trying to order food on your phone that you didn’t realize a vehicle was approaching you earlier. And while that was dangerous, he found it slightly endearing. Just as long as you were away from any cars. 

Shouto was so focused on listening to you that he hardly paid attention to the look of shock on the reporters’ faces and the influx of calls he was receiving from his agency. 

Right now, he simply wanted to hear you talk more and eat a curry bun. 

The rest, he could deal with later.

Trying to dissect all the stuff from the Akira Cross audiolog.

Okay so I'm gonna go over all the stuff I feel is notable even if it's fairly obvious. Also I'm bound to miss stuff so if you saw anything I didn't (or have a different interpretation) feel free to chime in with that. ALSO SPOILERS EVIDENTLY THEY WILL BE HERE WATCH THE AUDIOLOG FIRST IF YOU WANT TO AVOID THOSE YEAH OKAY COOL Alot of Akira Cross is a mix of stuff drawn directly from Boy's experience and whatever media he's consumed so picking apart the two will be important in figuring everything out. Akira is an evident stand in for Boy but I'll go over the more interesting stuff with him later because there might genuinely be some foreshadowing in here with all the insane shit that goes on later in the story.

Cross Family is clearly a reference to the D Clan I doubt there's too much foreshadowing on this one so Boy is probably just filling in any gaps with his own stuff here.

Slab is Door. Just like Door, very straight forward. His military rank might be off a bit but this one doesn't require a lot of analysis.

NOW HERES WHERE WE GET TO THE REAL SHIT On my first watch I didn't really think much of all the Yokai/Japan stuff since it seemed like normal weeb kid stuff especially since Markus has evidently been showing Boy alot of anime. However we know the D Family has been to Japan since Markus brings up being there in the Bar Audiolog. I had always assumed Boy's hair was from D's side of the family but thinking about it more, It's entirely possible that Boy's mom is actually Japanese and met Door during that trip to Japan. It's also possible she was a Hunter which is why Boy has ties to the OG hunters (which I'll talk about way later during that segment with Hina's awakening chariot in the- getting off topic). D makes a point of talking about how Yokai are real and they shouldn't bring civilians into their world (unless they see potential in them). Seemingly Boy has been raised entirely in the Hunter Sphere so his mother being a hunter actually does align since Door is such a stickler for the 'rules'. But the Priestess thing is probably just a Boy-ism.

Ryu is probably another Boy-Ism since I doubt he has a secret twin brother. This could potentially be a reference to another member of the D family however. But I don't feel there's enough evidence to suggest that beyond Warhammer parallel which I don't really want to use as primary evidence. We know that at least one of the D Clan has been killed by Vampires and probably several more so Ryu could also be an unintended Boy reference to a member who became a vampire. It's probably not to foreshadow a Markus turn to the dark side since there's another character that is very directly Markus. So I'm just going to mark down Ryu as; Boy-ism that might parallel another D Clan member but probably not.

Another direct reference with his time training with slab is obviously inspired by the time he spends at the gun range with Door. But the experimental weapons line is probably just a Boy-Ism since it's just the Halo gun.

I genuinely have no fucking clue what Gilgamesh represents here and I can't help but bust my ass laughing every time I rewatch his reveal. This feels more directly related to D which I'll go over.

So this whole section is- fucky to the say the least. D is ALWAYS confident in everything he says so I don't know if he's saying this because "I WAS THERE AND I MET GILGAMESH" or "THE SCHOLARS ARE WRONG GILGAMESH WAS CLEARLY-" and it could go either way with him. But since he talks about Gilgamesh like "I knew he was a vile fiend but this is a new low" makes it seem like he probably doesn't know Gilgamesh directly.

Door death flags continue to slowly mount. I don't think he'll die anytime soon but theres likely gonna be some major conflict between him and the other members of the D Clan. Akira's family's deaths and D's reaction to them is again, notable. When I was first watching my first thought was "Oh he's having this reaction because it happened to him". But then the reveal that D is just genuinely invested in the story to the point of tears is very funny.

So Akira's heritage is again something to bring up. Half-American, Half-Japanese, Half-Nephilim, Half-Yokai. I feel we can knock off the Yokai as a Boy-Ism. I doubt he's Half-Nephilim directly but it's such an interesting thing to call out since they're a weird reference to make here. The WoD Lore I could find on them is pretty scarce but they're essentially the children of humans and fallen angels, fairly similar to early Abrahamic texts referencing their existence. In classic WoD Hunter lore they were humans who were chosen by angels which turned them into the imbued. I feel like this is notable since Boy seems to be becoming an imbued. (Again, Later) Okay so here's a bit of a hard thing to decipher. Ironically Akira's School could be drawn from experience or purely a Boy-Ism because it's never really all that clear if Boy actually goes to school. This episode in particular talks about D taking on alot of Boy's schooling but I vaguely remember comments from another Audiolog about some british kids calling Boy "Meat" and Door not really understanding the insult. It does show however that Boy has been effected by the hunter life since he's made a world where anyone could be a hidden enemy. It shows that D's (rightful) paranoia has rubbed off on him.

I think Hina is just a pure Boy-Ism. Her being a secret angel might play into his imbued potential and later stuff. But yeah I don't think Hina represents anything here. and Combat Boots.

Alright so Mars is clearly Markus also why does he look like Gogeta as a final fantasy villain. I feel like this is one of those moments that was missing from the story cause it genuinely gives Markus a moment where he feels appreciated. When the time comes that Markus is given the opportunity to do some fuckshit I have the feeling this will be the moment that stops him.

My gut feeling tells me that this lineup for the Gilgamesh goons is foreshadowing the major antagonists of each arc (maybe). Jack the ripper visually resembles Pyotr with the teeth, ears, and long black hair. The fact he gets fought multiple times also relates back since they fought Pyotr in the cave then in their house. Florence could be implying that one of the maids is the ghoul in the current arcanum arc. No clue about Polluck and Andre the giant. And this kinda entirely depends on who the ghoul is since if it's anyone else this whole vague theory instantly falls apart.

I don't think the Chiroterrans themselves represent anything. Maybe the ancient vampires but I kinda doubt that, they seem like a Boy-Ism to explain why vampires exist since he probably wouldn't know about Caine. However the fact they team up with Akira at the end to fight the war against HORSE does show the shift in Boy's mental state. We know he already has a more 3 dimensional view of vampires based on the times he gets weirdly deep 'Do you think this is what happens when one throws away their humanity and embraces their inner monster' as it directly shows he now sees HORSE as the main threat and the vampires just as another group.

The Merkabah is another thing that points towards Boy becoming an imbued since he would have no reference for a dream like this. I've already gone over the surface level of the imbued so no point repeating it.

Also Markus might also become Imbued (or a mage since thats a thing that I've heard vaguely of un-awakened mages getting but I don't have a source to back that up beyond "just trust me bro" so I could be totally wrong here) unless he's just being sarcastic here which is totally in character

I feel like this could be another accidental foreshadowing thing since there are some theories and suspicions about there being a werewolf in the chapterhouse right now. So we'll see what happens with this or if it's just another random Boy-Ism

Again, stuff like this is why I think this whole story is more important than just a random boy writing session. They literally do this at the start of every arc. Also IT SHOULD BE NEXT SAGA BOY BECAUSE HE FIGHTS THE FIVE GOONS THAT WOULD BE IT'S OWN ARC ITS CLEARLY MULTIPLE ARCS SO IT SHOULD BE THE GILGAMESH SAGA FIRST OKAY that was I was thinking about that okay I just had to say it

Theres probably a reference in the spartan spacemarines being called the crimson dragon blades but I know nothing about halo and my knowledge of 40k is also not great. and I don't know where to put this and it isnt important but Ryu's final form looks like Asmodeus from iruma kun and I can't unsee it

The final thing to consider is Horse himself. I've spent the last few days thinking about one main thing; Is horse actually evil or is he just really bad with kids?

And I don't know. I feel like they're using this to set up a swerve where since Horse is Horus we're expecting him to turn evil, but it's revealed he's just bad with kids. But he could just as easily be some sort of demon or other awful thing possessing horse.

What are the gangs favorite type of video games to play? Weather it’s Mario, Pokémon, sports, rhythm games, horror games, etc etc.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. YOU ACTIVATED MY TRAP CARD!!!! Now...

Poppy prefers tabletop games more, but she can be often caught playing or seeing someone else playing The Sims. She LOVES that game - Angel has The Sims 2 installed on their computer, and when they all move to a bigger house Poppy gets her own PC so she can play TS2 as much as she wants.

Kissy doesn't play much on her own, but she really loves 3D platformers and adventure games. Her favorites are the og Spyro the Dragon trilogy! I think she loves watching others play pokémon as well.

Huggy loves racing games. Get anything with a car and he's instantly in love with it.

I can Mommy Long Legs making super over-the-top stories on The Sims 2 as well, so she and Poppy often share news of what their sims are doing. They are both active in forums and are trying to make their own custom content for the game!

Bunzo is a pokémon guy.

PJ Pug-a-Pillar doesn't like playing games in general but he LOVES watching others play, esp if there's lots of cutscenes. It's like watching a movie!

Miss Delight falls in love with Portal 2 when it's released, but I think she's really picky with her puzzle games. She likes being a bit creative on her solutions! She's also really into RPGs. I think the Fallout franchise is her comfort game.

Catnap and Craftycorn are walking Silent Hill encyclopedias, but they LOOOOVE survival horror. Catnap's fav is the original SH1, while Craftycorn loves Haunting Ground (PS2) and SH3.

Bobby on the other hand prefers Resident Evil and Clock Tower 3, but when it's not horror it's definitely a more experimental game. She cries everytime she plays Shadow of the Colossus but she loves it.

Bubba, much like Miss Delight, is SUPER into RPGs and puzzle games, but pokémon and Ace Attorney have conquered his heart. He LOOOVES gushing about it!

Picky's favorite is Animal Crossing! It makes her feel safe and she loves just walking around her town. She made a really impressive one and everyone wants updates from her villagers, Picky loves giving them.

Kickin can't get enough of any FPS or action-adventure game, and he can and WILL ragequit if he's playing online and his teammates start being rude to him or each other. Thankfully he learned really quick how to deal with the more toxic players so now he can truly relax. Unfortunately doomed to become a League of Legends player when it comes out.

Hoppy also loves FPS, but 3D platformers and open-world games are her favorites. Anything that gives her plenty of freedom to move around or just be silly immediately catches her attention! I think she becomes a Team Fortress 2 player.

Dogday prefers to watch rather than play and he gets SO invested. I think Miss Delight likes playing puzzle games with him because they figure out solutions together, but if Dogday were to chose a game for himself to play it would probably be a rythimn game. It gives him the zoomies.

The other smaller toys all have their own individual preferences, so talking about them is more complicated!

Everyone becomes obsessed with Minecraft when it's released. Catch Catnap pranking everyone on their shared beta server by pretending to be Herobrine.

When Angel gets them an Xbox 360 they have many game nights where they play on the Kinect.

Speaking of which, Angel is down to play literally everything, but all the toys know they aren't very keen on anything horror-related. Not because it's scary, it's just that Angel finds them boring after surviving Playtime Co. They probably have an encyclopedia-level knowledge of pokémon, tho.

Prototype doesn't play videogames, but enjoyes watching the others play. Just don't put ANY war games in front of him and we're all good, otherwise he stops watching.

S2, E8 and Overall Thoughts (Spoilers)

If we don't get season 3 I'll end up on the news. This is more string of consciousness but oh well.

First, I love everything with Richter and Annette. No complicated feels, no note. Though I do wonder if we get a season 3 how it will be handled. Season 3 and most of 4 of the first series kept the Belmont, mage, and Alucard apart. They might do the same thing again. We might get a timeskip and an opening like SotN.

I don't like how we go from seeing Alucard pinned to the ground with his own sword through the heart(?) to just standing there in the sun. I wish there was an in-between. I knew they wouldn't kill him but still.

I'll be interested to see where they take Olrox and Mizrak if they get a season 3. Especially since we see how they treated Tera's character (we'll get to that, trust me). There is a lot they could do with it. Mizrak was quite religious so his arc of wrestling with his faith can go in a very interesting direction.

I was VERY surprised with that blush on Maria's face. Now, I'm not going to touch that discourse. There is nothing the showrunners could do to please everyone. A lot of people ship them, a lot of people find the age thing weird. I chose to create a weird little Dutch man to smooch Alucard. We all have our own freewill.

I figured that if they were going to have them end up together they'd have them not meet (similar to how in canon they didn't meet until SotN). I found everything with them ambiguous until that.

I found Alucard's expression of hurt(?) interesting when she said those who worked with the vampires deserve to die. And the cut to Tera with that weird ass expression watching with the shadow thing (OH I'LL GET TO MY THOUGHTS ON THAT FUCKER). This might just be me but yeah, go off queen. She isn't saying all those who fraternize with vampires deserve to die. I'm guessing Alucard's (hurt?) is one of two things. Either:

"She doesn't like vampires and humans interacting :("

He sees some of himself in her. She killed her own father and her mother "died". However, she has the opportunity to interact with her mother. Something Alucard was and will never be able to do (Unless the show kept the thing where they moved to England at the end of S4). She is throwing that away

Maybe it's a mix of the two or something I am missing. I'll be on the lookout for analysis.

Shadow. Man. I am HOPING that I was right in my OG theory (which ended up ultimately being wrong FOR THIS SEASON). My theory isn't dead yet! If you haven't read it: in Castlevania their is an entity which is the source of Dracula's powers called Chaos. I theorized that that was him and we'd see a Dracula resurrection at the end. We didn't get this. But we still can! Now, is this theory ultimately selfish wish fulfillment because I desperately want a Soma Cruz season: Yes.

I'm guessing shadow man wants Maria's soul. Hopefully we get a season 4 or his existence will bother me. Fingers crossed.

I am fascinated by Tera's character arc. I feel like S1 had a lot to say about colonialism. I feel like the themes of this season were life, death, and grief. I've always found exploring those themes through vampirism interesting (you'll know that if you've read my fic). I had figured they'd take her in a more stereotypical direction but I am pleasantly surprised. I love the way they animated her to give her a profound sense of wrongness. I could (and may) analyze why she got that treatment compared to the other vampires. Likely it is because we are seeing her as those who knew her in life see her, all her life and love gone. But I think there is something to be said for a vampire who has made peace and found themself vs. one who is newly turned.

Overall, I loved this season. The brain worms are back. There things which I think could have been polished. But I have nowhere near the amount of issues with it as I did S3+4.

Idk what types of physical therapy would be good for all his scars and missing arm (and whatever other damage beneath the skin we can't quite see), but hopefully a massage and a hot soak in a big tub would help? vash would always put everyone else's needs and well-being before his own

it was 100% part of his sweetheart charm but it did raise some worry after it became a consistent thing

and while you and the others tried to push the importance of his well-being onto him, he was stubborn and would always wave you guys off

this continued for quite some time after you joined the group until, one day, you put your foot down

"you need to relax, vash." you left no room for argument, no indication that getting out of this was going to be easy.

vash tried his best to - as politely as he could - decline your persisting order but soon found himself being half-dragged, half-carried towards the bathroom of his hotel room

he stammered your name as you pushed him into the bathroom and followed, locking the door behind you. you started the tub and let the water run until it was warm enough before plugging the drain.

he jumped when you turned on him, his back against the far wall. with your hands on your hips, you raised an eyebrow at him.

"what're you waiting for? clothes, off." you took a step towards him when he hesitated and he hurried in doing it himself, only stopping when he was in his underwear. "vash, lovebug, i've seen you naked countless times."

"this is different," he whined, watching as you picked up his clothes off the floor. "is this really necessary?"

you sat in front of the door, folding his clothes and setting them beside you. you nodded as you worked on his jacket, eyeing the bullet holes near the hem. after another moment, you turned off the faucet and returned to your spot, eyes on vash.

"get in the tub, vash. don't make me get up and put you in it myself," you warned, crossing your arms over your chest. he sighed and shed his boxers, kicking them in your direction before climbing into the tub. "thank you."

he slid down in the tub as far as he could, a content sigh coming from his lips as he slung his arms over the back of the tub. you scooted towards the edge of the tub, earning a smile from your lover as you sat there with him.

"did you want to join me?" he asked, gesturing to the tub but you shook your head. "no? are you sure, mayfly?"

"tempting, but this is time for you to relax," you said firmly, reaching over him to grab the shampoo. you put it beside you and start cupping water to dump onto his hair to wet it. "lean back, lovebug."

he does as you ask and you take some shampoo in your hands, lathering it up before running your fingers through his hair. vash hummed as your fingers gently scratched against his scalp as you worked the shampoo through all of his hair. you instructed him to wash it out as you unplugged the drain.

you handed him a towel and unlocked the door, carrying his clothes out and putting them on the dresser before sitting on the bed. vash followed, eyeing you as you pat the bed next to you.

"what?" vash questioned but he did as you asked, allowing you to guide him into laying on his stomach. "what's going on?"

you straddled his lower back, hands resting on his shoulders as you began to knead at the skin. vash shuddered under your touch and you smiled to yourself. your hands worked up and down his back, taking your time on the more tender and scarred areas of him. you admired every inch of vash, murmuring your adoration and making sure he knew you thought he was beautiful.

you hummed in response as vash quietly said your name and he turned his head to the side so he could look at you.

"thank you for pushing me to relax," he murmured, his voice getting heavy with sleep. "i really needed this."

"you did," you replied, slowly getting off of him to bring him some cozy clothes. "you need to take care of yourself, too, okay?"

vash mumbled some sort of response as you brought him his clothes. as he got dressed you changed into cozy clothes yourself, closing the window blinds and climbing into bed with your love. he curled up against you instantly as you pulled the covers over the two of you, his head resting on your chest and his arms around your waist.

"good night, lovebug," you whispered, your fingers running through his hair as his breathing evened out.

“Can you please uncover my eyes now?” you plead with your fiance as he guides you outside to see his latest surprise. You and Eddie had never really talked about having kids, always considering the many farm animals that you’d convinced him to adopt over the years as your pseudo-children. So when you’d found out that you were pregnant after a fender-bender, you and Eddie had the realization that you both wanted this little bean to be a part of your life. 

This brings you to now, 6 months into your pregnancy. The morning sickness had wrecked you for a while and your cravings had been intense and random. Pickles and peanut butter, sardines and fiddleheads, copious amounts of cheese doodles. But Eddie had taken everything in stride, making the 20 plus minute drive into town to hit the only 24 hour mini mart in the area whenever the urge for a midnight milkshake struck you. He’d truly been a saint, he’d always been good to you, treated you like a princess, but seeing you round with his child had unleashed another side of him, one that was incredibly tender. Without hesitation the two of you had decided to be surprised when the baby came, knowing that no matter what you had, it wouldn’t change the fact that you two were going to spoil, cherish and raise your little bean to be a kind person.  

“Just be patient for a second more, little mama. I don’t wanna spoil the surprise just yet,” he murmured, a grin evident in his voice. 

You huffed in fake annoyance, crossing your arms after the screen door, thwapped shut behind the two of you. 

“Alright, ready?” 

“Yes, Eds! The suspense is killing me!” you squeak, bringing your hands up to grab at your man’s calloused hands where they rested over your eyes. 

He chuckles as he lets his hands be pulled from your eyes. You blink a few times to adjust your vision before taking in his latest surprise. In your silence, your feel him lace his fingers with yours as you feel the familiar burn of tears in your eyes. 

“I know little bean won’t be able to use it for a while after they’ve made their grand entrance, but it was the last one in the store and sweet girl, I just couldn’t resist.”

You turn and kiss him softly. “It’s perfect, I love it.”

Sitting on the front porch is a ride and spring horse, almost identical to the one that you’d described to Eddie. You’d been telling him how, despite being a city girl, had spent many of your earliest summers of childhood at your grandparents. They lived in the countryside in a big white farmhouse style house.  Your grandfather was always a fan of black and white westerns, so you’d watched more than your fair share while your granny took her afternoon nap. You’d expressed to Eddie that those were some of your favorite childhood memories, especially when you’d arrived one day to find a beautiful chestnut colored ride and spring pony on your grandparents front lawn. The image of his sweet girl as child with little pigtails and her grandfather’s cowboy hat slipping down over her eyes as she bounced away the afternoon on that horse had made his heart clench. 

“Really? It isn’t too much? I know that I’ve been spoiling little bean and they ain’t even arrived yet but…”

You cut him off with a sweet kiss, cupping the back of his neck with your free hand and pouring your love and appreciation into the kiss. “It’s perfect,” you repeat as your lips part and he breaks into a grin as you bump your nose against his affectionately. “Thank you, for the horse and for taking care of me and bean. Thank you for listening to me and remembering those little details I shared with you.”

He grins wider, eyes crinkling with it. “It’s my pleasure, sweet girl. You two are my whole world.”

You grin at him, “You forgot about Medusa, can’t have her feeling left out now.” 

He chuckles and rolls his eyes at you, “Well, you’re right about that, sweet girl.”

You kiss him again. “Always am, aren’t I?”

He rolls his eyes, “I’ll give you most of the time, little mama.”

You smirk up at him, “I’ll take it. Now come on and show me what else you got.”

He furrows his brow at you, “What are you talking about?”

“I just know you didn’t leave the store with just that toy, lay it on me, what else did you get?” 

He sighs, “You know me far too well, sweet girl.”

“It’s because I love ya handsome, now show me the goods.”

He chuckles as you settle on the porch swing he’d installed for you when you’d first moved in with him. “I’ll get the bag.”

You giggle and kick your feet up resting your hands on your bump, stroking your thumb over it tenderly as Eddie ran to the pick up to grab the rest of his haul. As you watched him go through everything that he picked up for your future child, you knew that there was no way that you would wanna do this with anyone but your Eddie.

Bad makes cucurucho try all his horrific food.... cucurucho cant help but like it, not because its good but because he cant stop smiling

Cucurucho gets his revenge though, he gets bad to dress up real cute and do photo shoots and shit <3 he loves when bbh dresses up

Bad shows up to cucuruchos office and just sits in there all day bugging him when hes bored, of course this also includes harassing the workers when they go in the office which cucurucho enjoys infinitely more and encourages him to do

While cucuruchos working, bad will chew and smack gum and get right up behind cucuruchos ears so hes forced to listen to it because bads a little shit and finds it funny and sexy to annoy him until he gets the gvn out, the gvn doesnt always stop bad though jilhkgv

I like to think that cucuruchos always liked bad's eyes, but it became especially more evident post-reset, and would go out of his way to meet bad in dimmer settings just to watch them glow

In my mind, cucurucho is like the easter bunny from animal crossing and has a zipper in the back, and if bad were able to, he would unzip it and put his bare hands on whatevers under there after holding a bunch of ice just to watch him jump (i like to think he does this to foolish too LMAO)(doesnt work as well on skeppy 😔)

During bads vulture arc i like to think cucurucho was keeping tabs on him very closely... not out of too much concern (lie) but mostly because the federation have some kind of relationship with bad (cucuruchos his sugar daddy ofc they have a relationship/j) and are interested in his death cycle, possibly planning on trying to recreate it

If I had to summarize my feelings in one sentence it would be: "This can't be the last game, right???"

I'm afraid it will be, but nooooooooooo q_q it can't beeee

I know Inazuma Eleven is so beyond niche that it was clear it wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell and given Level5's recent struggles I should be grateful that Victory Road even gets to exist at all, but q_____q I will miss Inazuma Eleven already q_q That's what the Demo makes me feel.

Like, I thought about it, but I think I don't even like Inazuma Eleven ironically, I just genuinely like it so much. If you like RPGs get yourself a copy of one of the DS games and have a good time, just shut your brain off a little bit and do not think even once. Me? I'm fine thinking about it, I was born into this utmost sincerity, I was molded by it, but as irony-poisoned as the world has become I have to point out it's.... a little bit wild. Just be prepared that Soccer might cry.

I like what they're doing with Unmei, I think the idea to have him be a non soccer player makes a lot of sense (no clue how I didn't notice that he wasn't playing in any of the promotional material)

Don't know if I like that 5 vs. 5's are gone. On one hand, probably a good choice, I think they can be much more creative with this new thing they're doing and small battles in the new control scheme would probably take forever and/or be weird af - on the other kind of lame, that takes a bunch of the soccer out of the soccer game.

I'm wondering how important the School Council President and that one other white haired girl are going to be. I kind of hope they won't be relegated to Manager roles, because as fun as those characters might have been (were they?) in OG and Go those don't really get to do anything and we already have 11 Characters + Bench already. you could just make them players...

I don't know what their scope with the Main Story is going to be. It seems very 'regular' - the Story seems to be weirdly front-loaded as usual, where everything happens all at once before the inevitable road to victory happens, but... I don't know, I think if this (last?) game really just has the scope of IE1 or Go1 I would be kind of disappointed ngl :/

In the same vein I'm somewhat scared for how far out this game is? This game seems absolutely massive and given what they've shown so far they could be 15% done and all they have is this little bit of story and all of the imported stuff. Maybe they just are much further along then I'm expecting them to be, but I don't know. Crossing my fingers that they know what they're doing.

Also what is the Budget of this game. Non stop animated segments, even if they were CG heavy. And how many VAs did you have for the Demo alone???? And you want to add everyone from all the games?????

"Escape Freud" you don't understand I'm trying

I don't hate the Translated Names (yet, the Go ones were a struggle though) but I do wish they had a Japanese Name Mode to go with JP VA

I miss drawing the arrows to control the team so much q____q I don't hate the new system and I get why it's kind of hard to translate the old one to gamepad controls but I feel like I have no clear control over anybody... I still think that you could turn that entire mechanic into so many cool game concepts btw, it's kind of weird that nobody ever made 'sensical' Inazuma Eleven clones

I put FF14 and Hasunosora as Cross-Over Requests in the Online Survey. The first one would be hilarious to me (and it would be possible given Yokai Watch) and for the second one I'm pretty certain that that Venn Diagram overlaps in a single dot and that single dot is me. I just think Megumegu would look great in Raimon's Uniform, okay.

Spiritfarer

This game was a weird experience for me. I wanna say that a story like this is more about the journey than the destination - and that’s copacetic narratively, as the unfolding stories of each of the passengers are far stronger than the capital p Plot the game builds towards - but from a gameplay standpoint, the journey itself largely felt like a tedious timesuck, and I kept finding myself wishing we could get straight to the point.

Let’s do a compliment sandwich here.

The overall vibes are immaculate, and the world of Spiritfarer is incredibly cozy. The dialogue is delightful - and not only with the main characters! Even the random villagers always have something charming going on. I think the last time I was actually this enthused to talk to minor NPCs was A Short Hike.

They’re not always cheery, either; the game has a lot of that old-school Animal Crossing edge that got sanded away over the years, where characters are actually allowed to be abrasive or even straight up dislike you. Spiritfarer has multiple passengers that, upon meeting you, are anything from fully disinterested to straight-up jerks. Some of them will warm to you over time, as in the OG Animal Crossing, but some will just never really like Stella all that much… and they will loudly, vocally share that fact with you. Even some of the friendliest, most open characters sometimes need their space. This wider spectrum of interactions goes a long way toward making the characters feel real and engaging, and it’s something I’ve missed in this space for a while.

The art and especially the animation work is absolutely stellar, too. Each of the characters have strong silhouettes, and the animators really make the most of each design’s unique attributes: Stella’s big wide-brimmed hat puffing up when you use it to glide, the Everlight’s infinite transformations into whatever’s handy for the current situation, Bruce and Mickey’s big guy little guy dynamic*, Gustav mightily leaping from floor to floor. A 3D game with this concept would likely stick to a handful of rigs for the characters and keep their movement simple, so I give a lot of credit to the Spiritfarer team for going the extra mile and putting such care into making the passenger animations lively and creative.

Unfortunately, despite how fun they’ve made the basic movement, the actual gameplay bits get pretty tiresome. It turns out that much of the moment-to-moment gameplay is actually doing chores on your boat, and they start to feel like chores remarkably quickly; while running, jumping and ziplining all feel great, most of the production minigames, like watering plants or smelting, are tedious and time-consuming. 

For the first third of the game or so, you’re unlocking new building minigames regularly, so they all feel somewhat novel. Plus, the density of the early game lends itself to a constant multitasking that feels satisfying. You’ll set your boat’s navigation system off to a location, then decide what form of crafting or farming will be the best use of your time; the result is a great “just one more turn” loop that's pretty engaging. The thing is, due to the length of the game, the pacing simply doesn’t stay that tightly engineered. You’ll run out of new buildings and minigames to unlock, start to get tired of the ones you’ve done dozens of times, and have to return to the same islands to farm materials over and over again. 

I will say, I quite liked the cooking system. There was something satisfying about guessing what different ingredients would pop out a new dish, and the illustrations for all of them are cute enough to make the experimentation feel worthwhile.

And unfortunately, this pacing inconsistency applies to the story as well. At first, you’re running into new faces constantly, and at any given moment will have half a dozen passengers on your ship, making it feel like a lively community. The rate of new passengers slows down dramatically, though, and for much of the back half of the game I had only 2 or 3 passengers aboard, leaving the game feeling empty and rote. 

This is not an easy problem to solve - it’s gotta be near impossible to keep the pacing curated if your game is this long - but maybe Spiritfarer didn’t need to be this long? 30 hours is fuckin HEFTY for this kind of game. I dunno, it’s certainly possible other people found the management sim side of things engaging and equally as worthwhile as the character interaction, but to me it mostly felt like busywork keeping me from the story bits, so my patience for it grew thinner and thinner.

For the first half of the game or so, I had a running theory that Stella didn’t actually know any of the passengers, and these people were being enchanted by some sort of Spiritfarer glamour that presents you as someone they’re comfortable / familiar with. The game makes the truth clear as it goes, but a part of me really likes that idea of the ferryman taking the form of someone that can put the departed’s minds at ease. I think that’s how the reapers in Dead Like Me work..?

Now, the reason my frustration with those elements was intense was because boy I got invested in these characters. A few missed the mark for me (I’m sure everyone who plays this game has a different group of passengers that really pushed their buttons and those that didn’t), but so many of them were memorable and heartbreaking.

Gustav, with his desperate hope that the transcendence of art can outlive any individual, really speaks to some existential crises I’ve gone through myself

Alice, who in her old age finally has the means to travel and go on the adventures she always wanted to, only to be betrayed by her failing body... I literally watched this happen to someone close to me weeks before playing this, so the moment was a gut punch. And then that development is tied into the gameplay, by making you move Alice's house to the ground floor because she can't use the ladders anymore, and you have to walk her out to the deck and back every day... inspired, and soul-crushing.

The reveal that the reason Bruce does all the talking and initiates all the pair's movements is because Mickey's been in a coma the whole time... broke me. And then Bruce decides to end his own life because he can't bear to go on alone anymore? Jesus, man.

Okay, I get that I'm a mark for any story touching on Alzheimer's, but Beverly's depiction of the disease was particularly brutal. The Alzheimer's I've dealt with was a very language-based version, so Beverly getting halfway through a sentence and realizing it wasn't right, saying things like "Just give me a moment" or "Let me just take a little break and I'll finish" then giving up in resignation... fucking hell. Too real.

In general, the amount of spirits whose arcs aren’t resolved when they go out is rough. Despite being a work that’s clearly focused on death from the start, Spiritfarer initially feels like it’s going to be a somewhat sanitized look at the topic. You’re going to take these spirits to the door of oblivion, sure, but we’re going to get complete character arcs, we’re going to work through trauma, and people are going to go through the door when they’re good and ready. And for the first few passengers, that’s true… but things get dark quick. Bruce’s tale, as previously mentioned, ends with him killing himself. Atul, one of your most easygoing, dependable passengers, simply disappears one night, never to be seen again. Jackie, who embarks rather late to start a journey of self-improvement, gives up halfway and straight-up tells you he can’t find anything about himself worth living for and suicide is all he deserves. Spiritfarer even twists the knife by letting us read some of his journals afterwards, showing he feels a deep regret and self-loathing for his past actions… he just can’t find any way to live with them.

This is what I respect the most about Spiritfarer’s musings on death, I think. Rather than dressing everything up in neat metaphors and giving you emotional catharsis, it’s not afraid to show death as sudden, as unsatisfying, as desolate, as lonely. By presenting itself so whimsically, it gets the audience to let their guard down so the hard moments hit them with full force. I wish they could’ve had the confidence to lean on those moments without feeling the need to pad the time in between with monotonous crafting systems.

She fell onto the ground of the very dark alley way, with a grunt; the remaining petals falling upon the ground and upon her body. The palms of her hands now scraped by the sharp cobble stone. "God..." she sighed as she picked up herself, dusting off her filthy hands and clothes which were now different. A white blouse with suspenders, brown trousers and loafers. 

"The Anime God really went for the 'starving victorian child' aesthetic, huh..."

Y/N looked out of the alley into the main street. Fancy men and woman strolling; carriages trotting down the road with the occasional horse noise things that horses do, piercing the light chatter of the few left walking by. It was near the dusk, the light almost gone, leaving the lonely street cold and a bit more quieter. 

"Okay, Y/N..." she sighed, giving herself a pep talk to walk out. Stuffing her long H/C hair into her cap and fixing it on her head she walked out into the streets. 

As she walked, a few people pass her, not even taking a glance at her. She was probably in a fancy neighbourhood. 

"First impression: People are kinda stuck up..." she mumbled, continuing her way. There was another shady alley up ahead so she decided to cross the street, might as well explore, right?

After looking both ways, she walked with a little pep in her step as she crossed the street. 

Out of nowhere, a carriage with a spooked horse wizzed by, throwing her off her balance. Luckily, a pair of arms grabbed her torso and pulled her onto the side walk, her back hitting the person's chest. 

"What is a young lady like yourself wandering the streets of London by her lonesome?" A man's voice asked. The voice was posh, polished with a silky smooth ring to the ear. Basically, it was a really hot British voice. 

"I--"

"Is the young man well!" Yelled the driver of the carriage, running toward the two. The horse now calm and parked just ahead.

"Excuse me, Miss." Her saviour polity said, shifting her to sit on the curb, handing back her hat with a kind smile. "It fell."

He then walked over to the man, the only words she heard being "we are just fine."

Guy was tall, in a butler kinda suit with one of those tail coat thingys. He's pale, lengthy, with a black funky haircut. His smile that was weirdly charming was familiar.

"Skinny, butler, black hair, red eyes..." she muttered to herself. Once the man put his glove hand to his chest it came to her.

'HOLY SHIT!' she freaked out in her head. It was Sebastian--Sebby if you will. She was never one of those girls who'd simp over the guy but HOT DAMN! After seeing that man up close--like she could touch his face, damn... He could step on her and she'd say "thank you."

"Miss...Miss?" Y/N snapped out of her daze to look into his red eyes. 

"Y-yes?"

"Is everything alright? Are you hurt?..." he asked with--what looked like, with complete sincerity. Y/N blinked with a blush as the gears started to turn in her head. 

Acting time. "I am well but...my ankle hurts a little..." she put a hand onto her ankle, rubbing it but flinched her hand away a bit. 

"Well, that is good..." he paused for a moment before speaking again after a little sigh. "Young Miss, do you belong anywhere at this time?" he asked her. Y/N shook head, her gaze lingering on her lap. 

"Bring her," a bold voice ordered. Behind her was a short kid with an old man cane standing with his back faced toward them. After turning around, showcasing his profile, she could finally recognize him. He looked different since everything wasn't animated anymore; he wasn't just on her screen anymore. He had pale skin, although had more colour than Sebby's ghost-lookin' ass. 

His hair was the same colour and length; he also had such a cute button nose which she couldn't help find adorable about him. She never really had a crush on Ciel when she was a kid but just seeing him now, she wanted to squish his face. 

Sebastian nodded, "Of course, Young Master..." and helped Y/N up. "Please, allow my young master to host you at the Phantomhive Mannor."

"I um..." She had to think about her next words carefully. "I don't...know. I do not know who you are..."

"My name is Sebastian Michaelis, butler to my Young Master, Ciel Phantomhive, the head of Funtom corporation. It is a toy company." He added with a smile. "I assure you..." he then whispered, "my Master being young..." he then switched back to his normal voice, "would never hurt a young lady. We shall treat your hurt ankle as well."

She hesitated for a second but nodded her head, "I accept but...I will not hessite to leave if I feel unsafe or uncomfortable."

"Of course, Miss...and may I ask you name?"

"Y/N L/N, Sir..."

"Very well, Miss L/N. shall I aid you to walk?"

"I-I am able to...walk," she slurred, her ears feeling a little hot.

"Very well," he said once again, offering an arm for her to take and help her to stand up. She took his arm and stood up, staggering a bit to make her injury seem real. She walked with a little limp. Her hat on her head but hair no longer stuffed.

Now this was going to get interesting.
