this is unlike the stuff i usually post, but wanted to share. it's from a project i started a few days ago. (i've felt like testing sth like this for a longer while—just some loose lines, little critters i love, and warm words.) 🧡

unrelated and not, our beloved cat passed away yesterday morning. i'd just happened to draw this the day before we said goodbye. so i feel like it's for her. ❤️

a little miss minnie verse ficlet for @actuallyitsellie in honor of my cousin thinking i wrote minnie mouse fanfic... this probably isn't what you had in mind, but it's what wanted to be written

“That is my boyfriend.”

Buck blinked and looked down at his four year old who most definitely did not have a boyfriend.  He hadn’t even realized she was awake, having fallen asleep on him again nearly twenty minutes ago.  “Uh, what?”

Minnie blinked blearily up at him before pointing at the TV that was playing some old Disney cartoon, Buck wasn’t totally paying attention, browsing through wedding venues on his phone while Minnie sprawled out on his chest.  She’d been sick and running a high fever the last couple days and had been incredibly clingy, not wanting to let go of Buck or Eddie for one second let alone let them out of her sight.

“Mickey—” She let out a vicious sneeze that had her looking a little green as she jerked her head too fast and Buck nearly dove for the puke bucket before she settled back against his chest and rubbed at other nose.  “Mickey is Minnie’s boyfriend.”

Ohhhh, Buck nodded along.  

Suddenly the recent obsession with Mickey Mouse made sense.  

On their third day at Disneyland a few weeks prior Minnie had dressed up like Minnie Mouse, with a cute little red dress and polka dot skirt with matching Minnie Mouse ears and her favorite pair of yellow Converse.  Buck had even drawn a little black dot onto her nose and added some sparkles on her cheeks and eyes that Maddie had given her for her birthday.  

Mickey Mouse had been seeing guests right as they walked into the park on Main Street and at Minnie’s insistence they’d hopped in line to see him.  

Buck would forever love the cast member in that costume who saw his daughter dressed as a little Minnie Mouse and got so excited, giving her a big hug and blowing her a kiss after kiss, that Minnie still talked about it weeks later.  

“You’re a little young to have a boyfriend, but I guess I can make an exception for Mickey,” Buck said, leaning down and giving her a kiss on the top of her head.  She was still warm but not the low rolling boil her brain had been sitting in for the last two days.  

He picked up the stuffed Mickey Mouse, that Minnie had gotten shortly after that encounter and had barely put down since, from where it had fallen on the floor during one of her fitful naps and held it in front of her.

She made a small gasping squeak and gratefully pulled the Mickey closer hugging it tightly before she settled back down against his chest to watch her show.  He gently stroked his hand up and down her back.  Four years later and he still couldn’t believe how much his love for this little girl grew every day.

How do I feel like its mine and it belongs to me? or know its mine....

well, it honestly depends on the person and what methods work best for them. for me, i struggled a lot with trying to "feel" anything. I'd succeeded at becoming numb/neutral to my 3d circumstances- and as a result i couldn't feel much of anything when i thought about my desires either. i knew that i wasn't fufilled because i still wanted them, but i wasn't sure how to feel like i had it truly.

my suggestion would be to try methods you haven't tried before. i used to hate meditating and doing sats because i have adhd. i had a lot of trouble focusing and quieting down my mind. one day, i decided to try something different that i knew would accommodate my needs. i turned off all the lights in my room and laid down on my bed in the starfish postion with earbuds in. i listened to songs that i felt connected with, that made me think of my desire. as i listened, i felt emotions bubble to the surface. i thought about the things i wished for, and instead of thinking OF them, i started to think FROM them.

i replayed the same two songs for about 30 minutes, just crying and thinking FROM my desires, not OF them. i saw my family happy, i felt my feet touching the sandy beach behind my house, i saw my mother with her dream job, i saw her master's degree hanging on the wall of our living room, i saw my parents renewing their vows... i saw it all so vividly... i felt it so intensely. i sobbed tears of joy as i imagined thanking my mutuals and texting my closest friends, sharing my success with them. i felt the feeling of all consuming happiness and gratitude. i felt my desires truly belong to me. i cried so hard i fell asleep covered in tears, and when i woke up in the morning, i felt like a different person. i felt awakened and calmed.

the point of my story was essentially to think of a trigger. (music is a really good one, i have song suggestions if needed <3) think of something you want the most, think of how good it'll feel to finally have it. that sense of relief, of peace, of happiness. the weight lifting off your shoulders and chest. it might be hard to capture the feeling at first, so be patient with yourself. i think trying to discover it in a sort of meditative state would be the best idea. once you feel this, try and dwell in it, observe it. don't force anything. allow it to kind of grow and fester in you. you'll be able to identify it eventually. try to get into a state that'll allow you to feel that relief as much as you can. in the car, at school, at work, and especially before bed. eventually you'll feel this kind of,,, peace. a peace that feels like nothing you've ever felt before. you won't care about anything but what exists in your mind.

tldr;

1. get into a meditative state (yes i know it's boring but it seriously helps).

2. let your mind wander around the idea of your desire.

3. think about what it feels like to finally have it.

4. observe what you feel, don't force it to intensify or go away.

5. step back into the feeling, let it consume you.

6. fall asleep in the state or leave the meditative state.

7. don't force yourself back into the state of having your desire, don't force your thoughts. just be.

8. try to visit the state more often until you begin to naturally dwell in it. (it will slowly increase in intensity, in my experience.)

Hello you lovely folks!! A little update from me, after going AWOL for a little while 🙈 I am finally on my way back home from my UK road trip, which was only 12 days but felt like three weeks at the very least... We did SO much, and it was all incredible, and I consider myself a seriously blessed girl 💖

A quick recap, just because: we flew to Liverpool, rented a car there the next day and drove to Wales, saw incredible castles, beaches & mountains and met unbelievably lovely people (and stopped by the village with one of the longest names in the world, in Anglesey, see above pic). Then we spent some time reconnecting with the city in South Wales where we all met each other during an exchange semester 12 years ago (it was strange to be back there, but also really wonderful), before driving to England, where we stayed at THE most picture-perfect cottage in the Cotswolds. This wasn't my first time in the Cotswolds, but this time around we managed to tour so many of the amazingly cute & pretty villages, and on top of that, the weather was absolutely stunning ☀️✨️🥰

After that, we drove on to Oxford (my fave city in the UK, hands down ❤️) where we all also lived for some time about a decade ago, and then finally, we headed to London. I got to see a lot of old friends, art exhibitions, a musical (Moulin Rouge! so much fun), picnicked on Hampstead Heath, and - most importantly - I saw my favourite band of all time, Arctic Monkeys, perform again for the 7th time and they were absolutely INCREDIBLE 😍 So of course, when I walked out of the stadium, I turned to my friends and was like "You know what I want?" And they were like "Yes, we'll come with you to get an AM tattoo" (they know me too well 😂) So I dropped by a tattoo parlour the next day and got myself a cheeky little tribute to my fave song of my fave band and I could not be happier with it 🥰🥰 (pic under the cut, if anyone's interested)

So! That was my amazingly fantastic vacation which I enjoyed the crap out of, and I'm sure I'll be spamming you all with some pics over the next few days because oh man, I took so many photos 😅 Not super thrilled to be back at work tomorrow, but I am excited to be able to spend time on here and on my writing again!! (and reply to some messages, long overdue, sorry about that!)
