₊❏❜┊a project i did for my art class on january 30th !! so, seven months ago or so.

by the way, the butterfly featured here is the old world swallowtail !! i like moths better, but this one is pretty.

i’ ll explain what the theme was about as well as my thought procress underneath the cut, if that’ s interesting to anyone :3c

the theme was… a way.

previously, we had done an autoportrait, and i wanted my project this time to be a continuation of that. i settled on the idea of the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly quickly, because a) i love insects and b) it was very fitting.

the question i had to ask myself was: ‘ how am i going to present that? ’

in the beginning, i wanted to do something like a children’ s book. the story was about a caterpillar, who was scared of the world; so, it became a chrysalis - isolating itself. eventually, it would learn that even if the world was scary, there were beautiful things there, too, and it would be a shame to never see or experience them. it was something that was very true to me then.

the thing is, i was… uh, pretty exhausted for a lot of reasons, and that idea was just too much for me, so i had to settle on something else.

eventually, i just decided to do a small animation, and voilà !! my project was done. it took me seven hours and the video barely lasts 3min. . . :'D

oh well. i really like what i did for this theme, even if it wasn’ t as heavy on the symbolism as my previous project was. and - as thanks for listening to me ramble - i’ ll give you each image separately !!
